Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Radio Boom and there is John Ramos
on this Wednesday. I tweeted on Twitter because that's where
you tweet guys that b k R. We're gonna be
with you the rest of the week. Okay, I'm sorry,
I'm just letting the cat out of the bag, and
I said, tell us what you want. Got a lot
of the John Ramo Show, which obviously is a given

(00:23):
on today's program. But jonas you should know, we did
have a request for John in the John a segment
that we've only done once here on Fox Sports Radio.
But it was enough to leave someone wanting more. So
maybe sometime in these next three days we will bring
John and the John back. Why I that is the

(00:46):
most stunning development of all time because I think that
we all universally agreed that well, and I'll take blame
for that. That was my idea and it we bombed.
It was That was an awful, awful idea that we
thought was gonna go a lot different. It was not
John's fault. What I the idea I thought in my
head was completely different from how it played out and

(01:08):
and just a total whiff job by me. Terrible. It
didn't wif if somebody wanted it. Roy Combs says, I
want more John and the John. So you could get
some of that later this week. Are you up for
a John? I think so. It's always thank you. Yes,
it's always good to revisit something that bombed. But yet,

(01:30):
see if we can grab some lightning in a bottle
to new audience. Maybe that maybe this audience, I like
it better than the last one, you know. No, speaking
of bombing, the Raptors bombed their first opportunity. Narrative about them.
They did. They It was a bad night for Toronto.
When you say they only lost by one, they only
lost by one point. Jonas the narrative that we heard

(01:54):
going in heck, it's not even going into this playoff series.
No one was picking Toronto to come out of the
East and go to the NBA Finals. They were the
number one seed, obviously had the best record in the East.
That that's the case, they had an opportunity to change
their change. The narrative had a little trouble with the Wizards,
but ended up winning a game six on the road,

(02:14):
which hey, I give him credit for doing that. They
knocked Washington out, a team that was probably better than
their eight seed, considering they had John wallback. But now
you've got the Cavaliers coming in where people still I
don't think you have a full read on who the
Cavaliers are and what they are. And the Toronto Raptors
had the ability last night to change the narrative that
they were going to be the team to mess with

(02:36):
in the Eastern Conference, and when it came down to it,
they failed miserably. Everybody's got and I've talked about this before,
everybody's got this piece of furniture in their house that
they always bang their knee on. Oh yes, every everybody's
got that in their house. And you know exactly what
piece of furniture it is. Every time you round the
corner and you're in a hurry for whatever reason, and
it doesn't matter, It does not matter at all how

(02:59):
many times you try and avoid it, how many times
like there's just every time you round the yeah, you're
gonna here, gonna bang your knee on it. It's a
terrible feeling. There's something at the producer's desk over there.
There's this little angle thing for us. For us people
taller than six ft. Ryan Music and myself, we bang
our knees on that at least three times a year,
and it is the most horrifying pain that you shrink

(03:22):
up as a human being. That is the Cavaliers to
the Toronto Raftors organization. They continue to bang their knee
on that piece of furniture and they're never able to
avoid it. And you knew late in that game. Watching
the game, you knew Toronto was going to find a
way to lose. They had no confidence. They were leaking
confidence on the basketball court. They were losing all confidence

(03:44):
that they had going into that game, a game that
they should have won, that they had a lead early.
You knew they were going to butcher that lead. Not
only did they give up the lead the Cavaliers, I
mean the Cavaliers did make some shots Jonas that that
kept them in the game late, but it was how
it played out. If you were to say Jonas at
the start of the series, who is going to take

(04:05):
the final shot for the Toronto Raptors when the game
counts the most, I think we would say Tomar de Rosen.
I think that would be a fair assessment. And if
it's not Tamar dea Rosen, then you would maybe say, hey,
what about Kyle Lowry. Okay, yeah, I could go with
Kyle Lowry. Hey, maybe Serge Abaka spotting up in the corner, right, sure,
let's do it. Let's do it. I don't think many

(04:27):
people were saying, let's let Fred van Vleet launch a
three after he missed most of the first round series
with a shoulder injury. But that's what the Raptors did, Jonas.
And not only did they do it once, they did
it twice last night on two separate occasions. And this
isn't This isn't Jordans kicking out to Kur or Jordan
kicking out to Paxson. That's not the case. The Raptors

(04:50):
are trying to change the narrative, and they're passing to
a guy that's had a bum shoulder for the last
three weeks that like, those are the things that you need.
DeMar de Rosen had an opportunity. Do you know who
is guarding DeMar de Rosen on that last possession in overtime?
Tristan freaking Thompson. You couldn't have asked for a better matchup.
So what does Derosen do? Dribbles right to the block,

(05:11):
the only place on the court that Tristan Thompson actually
has an advantage defensively against Tamar de Rosen, forcing him
to kick it out to Van vleet To again as
the bum shoulder. Tristan Thompson's defense isn't even good at
a hookah bar uh let alone at an NBA playoff
game when the game's on the line and a lot
of people are relying on you to make a stop,

(05:32):
and I just wonder if at the time, it's like
people that can handle their emotions in those situations are
always better players. All right, that's you're just a better
player if you can handle your emotions in those situations.
It's a difference between uh, great players and not so
great players in the clutch, they can handle their emotions.
That was so evident because at some point, at some

(05:52):
point while while the game is going and I know
it's fast paced, but great athletes have the ability to
slow the game down. At some point, does DeMar de
Rosen even stopped to think, alright, game on the line,
it's slow, mo, I see Tristan Thompson, Oh, this is
a better shot a twenty six ft or for a
guy with one arm. All right, let me go ahead
and throw it over here, and let's see that was

(06:12):
there's no way that had to be options z on
on Dwayne Casey's playbook. That had to be the last
possible thing to where Dwyane Casey when he when you
went out there, said all right, last case scenario, and
this is only if we've got no other choice, throw
the ball out of bounds, don't give it to Fred
van Fleet. And they still gave it to him, and

(06:33):
he couldn't He couldn't muster up enough to to make
the shots. So that's that right there. The end of
that game was what the raptors are to the calves.
They just find ways to lose the mentally. I don't
know if they just can't get over that hurdle, but
that was that was the epitome of that series all time.
Bard Rose in The Last Night explained his thinking on
passing an overtime to Fred van Vleets, who missed that

(06:56):
attempt at a game winner. If we in the same
situation again, make the same exact past, you know, it's
not just me trusting him, may be single guy on
his team, coaching staff, trust them in the moments. That's
why he in the game. Later in the game. You
know he got tough skin. You know he's gonna bounced back,
respond respond from him, but you know still have the
most confidence in him. You're gonna say that about your teammates,

(07:17):
but that's not the point. The point is is why
didn't you pull up in front of Tristan Thompson. Why
didn't you try to make a move to the basket
instead of running to a dead end at the block
where it Again, the Cavaliers don't have any size down there.
I mean, if you're gonna put the ball on the block,
give it to Valancunis and at least at least let
him try to score since he's taller than ever. It
wasn't about having confidence. Of course he's on the court,

(07:41):
but as he said, he was option Z. They didn't
even look at option A, BC or D on the
way through it. Pull it up, drive middle of the lane,
try to draw contact. He went to the worst possible
spot on the floor, erased about ten other options, and
then had to kick it out with the guy with
the bump shoulder, who, Yeah, they have confidence. Maybe shouldn't
have been in the game in the first place. If
that's the situation, and the thing about recapping NBA playoff

(08:03):
games because of these seven games series, especially the later
it gets, you'll see blowouts and then a team will
come back and they'll blow out the other team. And
you know, it was like the finals a couple of
years ago Calves Warriors that went seven games. You know,
every game was a blowout outside of game seven. So
you can you can do knee jerk reaction stuff, and
a lot of times we do it and then we
look like fools because then second game is completely different

(08:26):
from what the first game was. This one, though, don't
you kind of get the feeling that was a really
really important loss that was that was really bad. This
is one that's gonna rattle the rest of the series.
It's gonna change the way this series goes. I think
it was a terrible lossome because it it now is
in their heads. Yes, that's the biggest part about it.
It's now in Toronto's heads. Dan Buyer Jonas Knox in

(08:48):
for Doug Gottlieb here on Fox Sports Radio. You can
get Dan on Twitter at Dan Buyer on Fox. You
can get me at the Jonas Knox coming up next
here on Fox Sports Radio, we are going to talk
to one of the better defensive players in the NFC
about a tumultuous offseason for one of his teammates. Find
out who that is next here on FSR. He's Jonas Knocks.

(09:12):
I'm Dan Buyer. That is John Ramos. We are in
for Doug Gottlieb today. Glad to have you with us.
You can always listen to the show by the Way
on the I Heart Radio app or catch it on
Serious XM channel eight three. You can also reach us
on Twitter where we're getting more and more suggestions as
we are hanging out Jonas on what the the listener
wants from us, as we'll be here for the rest

(09:33):
of the week again. John and the John was brought
up people wanting to John Ramo show, a lot of
John themed things. John Bertie was mentioned, So there's a
lot out there for people if they want to and
any suggestions that we can hit on in the next
couple of days, feel free to send him our way.
I'm at Dan Buyer on Fox and they can get
you at at j S. Ramo Serro and John Ramos.
Your Twitter handle is well, it's May, and when it's May,

(09:55):
it's time to change things up, get a new, fresh start,
So it's at the real Jonas, not the real Jonas.
The real Jonas, Like, it is amazing, how not even intentionally?
John still doesn't know my Twitter account. It's almost like
we've been working together a long time and you don't

(10:16):
follow me on Twitter? Is there an at the real Jonas?
Knox is like, well, maybe there is. Now that could
be the case. The real Toronto Raptors showed up last night,
and so did the real I don't want to say
New Orleans Pelicans Jonas, but it was an interesting double

(10:36):
header because you had Toronto, who I felt needed that
game for a psychological advantage throughout this series. The Pelicans
basically just needed it to stay alive. They're like, I
knew a lot going into the series. You knew that
Cleveland always historically had an advantage. You knew that that
Toronto struggled to try and get past them, and get

(10:56):
past Lebron James. One thing I didn't know. I had
no idea Drake was a tough okay, craziest thing. I was, well,
I'm like, oh my god, maybe he must really be
a tough guy. It's weird. He was like chirping a
lot with a lot of security around unbelievable. Well, Drake
and Kendrick Perkins got into it last night in Toronto.
We'll get the Pelicans Warriors in just a little bit,
but we want to talk some football because coming up
in June there is a celebrity softball game that will

(11:19):
benefit the Tom Coughlin j Fund. The game is hosted
by one of the best defenders in the entire NFL,
Giant Safety Land and Collins. Hey, Land, and thanks so
much for coming on today. Oh yea, we are doing
well and I've got a I've had a question for
a year and I'm glad that you're on today that
I can finally ask you this. What the heck was

(11:39):
the difference between what you guys did in six on
defense and then to what happened last year. Now that
you've stepped away from last season and had some time
to think about it, what was the difference for such
a for such an unfortunate turnaround in your guy's sake,
where you guys were second in scoring defense two years
ago and then just didn't have it last year. What

(12:00):
were the biggest differences that you saw from year to
year from those two seasons. Um, First of all, we
had a lot of injuries on offenses, so that really
caused us a defense to be on the field a
little bit more than we usually were in the previous year.
And then um, definitely we just we was pushing to
make plays and stuff and let them come to us.

(12:22):
We were trying to make something happen. Besides, um, that
had come natural landing. If you had to rank one
to three the most obnoxious fan base in the division,
it could go you know, Philly, it could go Dallas
and then Washington. What order is the most obnoxious fan
base in that division? Uh? That division? The first one

(12:45):
I gotta be silly, got to be silly, and then
after that I would have to go with h Washington's
and wow, Washington's worsened down. That's surprised. I thought Dallas
would be the other. So so you're saying that Philly
is the most obnoxious, do you know how bad it's
going to be now that they want a Super Bowl? Oh,

(13:06):
it's gonna be ridiculous. We know that. So we have
to go up in there with how high nut up
and go play some football and get a get a
win and have to quiet that noise real quick. Let's
let's raise the stakes a little bit, with Landon Collins
of the New York Giants joining us more obnoxious fan
base Eagles or Auburn. Oh no, I'll go Auburn. WHOA interesting?

(13:33):
Why is it just because of the proximity in the
state of Alabama or what's the reasoning? Correct? That is
in the state of Alabama two schools one school is
always weren't higher than the other one and it's the
Armboat Arm. But there's like no other problemise you that
um and we literally hate each other, hate each other
on the field, and the fans like and fil in

(13:54):
the NFL football replayers. We play against each other because
we're a competitor at Urban and Alabama. We hate each other.
Who's the fans and team Latin cans with this? Here
all pro from the New York Giants. Here on Fox
Sports Radio, Damn Buyer Jonas knocks with us here at Landon.
What do we in the media get most wrong about

(14:16):
Odell Beckham? You being his teammate, what do we get
wrong the most about him? His lifestyle, the kind of
person is he has, has the biggest heart that anyone
can ever imagine. He loves what he does, plays with passion,
and everybody looks at his passion as childish, but it's

(14:37):
it's how we all are. I mean, only thing that
that kills him because y'all keep everybody keeping the media
keeps the camera on him when I could, I give
a prime example. After the Tampa Big Game, we call
the play I told I told us in quality not
to call it. He called it anyway. I can't do

(14:57):
the sideline through my helmet. I told him. I pushed
my coach off, and because we try to grab him,
push my coach off, and we walked to the end
of it. I decided the field yelling all kind of
all kinds of stuff, but nobody sees that. But the
camera's always on Odell, so you're gonna see every expression,
every each other that he does. And that's just the

(15:18):
passion of the game that we have and how bad
we want to win. Landon College joining us here on
the Doug got Leaves Show. He's Jonas Knocks, I'm Dan Buyer.
We are in for Doug today. What did we get
wrong about the U and Eli Apple dispute. I've understood
you guys made up that you guys are now on
the same page, But was there anything that we were
missing when you guys were beefing during the season. Um, no,

(15:46):
it was. It's just really just a misunderstanding between me
a line because at the end of the day, we
just we just not just myself, all of us dbs,
because we are the ones that's gonna deal with him
every day. But the ones I see him all the
time were the ones we all go to in her
most of the time. It was like we I think
people just thought he was actually trying to fight, all right,

(16:09):
go at each other. It's really just I was trying
to be a big brother phone, but he wasn't allowing
all of us to be a big brother from and
be that phone. Was he a cancer or do you
wish you took that statement back? Man? I was just
coming out of surgery when I said that, So yeah,
I would definitely take that back. I would definitely use
a different wording. I just said, he his mind is

(16:29):
just somewhere else. Um, he's not really focused. Um he
has a lot of um. He had. He had a
lot of um in how his personal reasons of why
he's the way he was so. UM. We see during
the NBA playoffs a lot of altercations. There's never usually
ever a fight. Guys are usually john at each other,
kind of getting into each other's face. And that's just

(16:50):
sort of the heightened stakes of playoff basketball. But you
playing in football and you being a safety, and somebody
can that can lower the boom. I don't know how
much you can do now is in in these NFL
in this NFL climate. But what's the most angry you've
ever been on a football field, whether it be in college,
whether it be in high school or the NFL. Which

(17:10):
player got you the most heated that you were looking
to take out the next play the most? That? Man, Oh,
I really didn't have I never had had a player
really gonna need my skin to make me very huge.
It really just take off when the next play I

(17:32):
want to do bull rush him. Are anyone who was
teams that I never never had that problem? Um, A
lot of people will stayed away from me, honestly because
I was definite player, real hard. Yeah, that's and that's
like you guys have an advantage in the NBA. They can't.
It's not like anybody's gonna throw down. But you, guys,
the physicality is built into your job. So if somebody

(17:54):
gets under your skin. Or if Dez Bryant shooting his
mouth off, you know, if he comes over the middle,
you can lower your helmet, you can lay the boom.
So when you watch the NBA and some of the
physicality in that league, what's your biggest impression of it? Um? Uh,

(18:15):
they're not built like this, honestly. Uh. They does not
mean they they they very they are very very competitive
by giving ned but men play, men play football. Landing
College of the New York Giants joining us is he'll
be hosting the celebrity softball game that will benefit the
Tom Coughlin j Fund. The mission of the Tom Coughlin

(18:39):
j Fund is to help families tackle childhood cancer by
providing comprehensive, financially, emotional, and practical support. This game goes
down June nine. You're one of the captains with former
Giants running back Brandon Jacobs. Am I correct in saying
that this kind of came about from the idea of
a fan. The the license plate guy in the New
York Giants, did he approach you were? How did this

(19:00):
game come about? Well? Actually, yeah, he definitely posted me.
But um, it was at the Pro Bowl when I
was at the Pro Bow my first year, my first
my second year, and in the year and in my career,
and I went to me, always be at the signature death.
So I went off to the sideline to gap him
off and stuff like that, and he's like, hey, you
ever thought about doing the charity event? I said, yeah,
but I just never really had the time to sit

(19:22):
down and do it because I had so much going on,
especially with the crazy year I had it was, and
then coming off the first year, I was was like, really,
just want to focus on playing football, being the best
tey I can be honest. It never really sat down
and I wanted to do it, but I had if
somebody could definitely do it for me, help me do it.
Pushing in the right direction, Yeah, he said, bet as

(19:42):
all he said. Honestly, he didn't bring up softball. He
didn't say basketball and said kickball, flag, football, any of
those things you said. All they said it was that
I got it. And then from that point on he
came up to me. We went like two weeks later,
called me up and hey, do a softball event, and
I said, let's do it. And from that point on
we we took off of it and now we're on

(20:06):
our second should I be a softball event, and it's
gonna be amazing. It's gonna be way better than the
first one. Taking place Saturday, June ninth a Pomona, New York,
and you can get tickets at landon Collins game dot Com.
It's it should be an amazing event. Hey, you guys
have a new running back now in Kwon Barkley. What
does he need to know not only about the NFL,
but playing in New York and playing as a member

(20:28):
of the Giants. Watch out for the media, definitely, definitely
one of the biggest ones. Definitely watch out for the media,
but definitely, um, just um take it all in. The
atmosphere is great. You could definitely learn a lot from this. This,
this place, this organization is city, both cities, New Jersey
and New York. And it's no place like playing up here.

(20:51):
This this marketing, this this uh, this city, what all
it has to offer is nothing, love it not and
like it and just take it all in. Honestly, That's
what I would tell him in the advice I would
give him, as multi as probably some other stuff I
tell him now when I sit down with him one day.
But for that would be the most parts for right now,

(21:13):
he landed, how many times have you picked off at
Eli Manning and practice? Honestly, because we're doing the doing
the um doing training camp, I get more opportunity, but
during the season I don't really get too much. So honestly,
since I since I've been playing with him, four four

(21:35):
picks not bad man, not bad I mean. And now,
are you gonna what's what's your goal as far as
interceptions as training camp are you're going you're gonna try
and top that in one training camper? You just take
it one at the time. I'm just taking it on
one at a time. Because Eli Bradley makes mistakes, I
promise you that he rather makes mistakes when it comes
down to practicing and getting what he needs to done,

(21:56):
getting getting what he needs to do right. Well, hopefully
see Eli doing that for the next couple of years
as well. No fly zone back, Ineen, I assume you guys, uh, yes, absolutely,
and tell Sae Kwon Barkley to stay away from Eli Apple. No,
I'm just kidding. I'm totally kidding, totally. Hey, Eli Apple
is a Buckeye, can't you know I'm not. I don't

(22:16):
I don't hate on him alone. So just having landed
college again. The game June nine, Pomona, New York landed
Collins game dot com, the celebrity softball game that will
benefit the Tom Coughlin j Fund. You are a captain
of one team, Brandon Jacobs, the Super Bowl champ, captain
of another should be great. We thank you for the

(22:37):
time landing and uh have a great time in June,
and good luck with everything with the game. I appreciate it.
Thank you, man. I hope you off thet. We should
we should do a real trip. That'd be great. Pomona,
New Yorker Pomona, California. If it's Promota California, I'm not going.
I'll go to New York, not Pomona, California. It's a dump.

(22:57):
Oh all right? Uh, Dan Buyer Jonas knocks in for
in for Doug gott Leevier on Fox Sports Radio. You
can get Dan on Twitter at Dan Byron Fox. You
can get me at the Jonas Knocks coming up next
though there's one major sporting event. We probably shouldn't do this,
but we're going to. Don't even bother watching, all right,

(23:17):
you don't even bother watching it's a rap will tell
you what that is next, But for all the latest
from around the world of sports. Step Carson Hello Jents.
Cavaliers coach Tron Luis says the team sticking with Kevin
Love as they're starting center to spine his struggles this postseason.
Cleveland's back on the hardwood. Thursday, sixth Eastern from Toronto,
Cleveland leads the Raptors one game to none. Another hoops

(23:38):
news thunder GM Sam Presty confirmed that head coach Billy
Donovan will return as Oklahoma City's coach next season. The
Hornets are interviewing Spurs assistant coach at James Barrego for
the Charlotte head coaching job, and an NFL News Steelers
quarterback Ben Roethlisberger told the Pittsburgh Post Gazette he plans
to play three to five more years if he can
stay healthy. The Steelers, by the way, did place line

(24:00):
backer Ryan Shazier on the reserve physically unable to perform list.
The Chargers exercise the fifth year option on running back
Melvin Gordon and guys. Finally, a free agent, safety Eric
Green has filed a collusion grievance against the NFL year
old became a free agent back in March one his
rookie contract with the forty Niners expired. He claims teams

(24:20):
have decided not to pick him up because of his
decision two years ago to nil alongside Colin Kaepernick during
the national anthem to protest racial inequality. Hi. Interesting, by
the way, I want to reveal the curtain like we do.
You know from time to time here on Fox Sports Radio.
Dev's got game time coming up with us. In about
ten minutes or so earlier, Um, as we were trying

(24:41):
to get some stories, Ryan printed out a story that
maybe we could use in the show Internal Landon whose
last week it is as an intern here. Accidentally may
have read the title, and Ryan was like, hold on,
hold on, don't reveal it because we got to save
it for game time. So little drama before the show.
Let's see. Yeah, But something I say. Ryan's very protective

(25:03):
with his information, right Ryan. That's uh, Hey, there's the
integrity of the game, Dan, you got to protect it.
That's that's Ryan also putting his you know, tough love
to land it. You know, it may be the last
week landing of the Internship, but he's still gonna guide
you in the right way. You know, that's what he's
gonna do. Well, that's just it, Dan, it's the last week.
He should know better. And I don't care. And here's

(25:26):
the thing, I don't I don't mind a little tough
love and I don't mind. You know that that music
is really really adamant about keeping the secrecy of the game.
But you didn't have to put out your cigarette on
the kid enough enough that I mean, I told him
to get the ashtray, Jonas, it was fast. For those
of you that are listening, Landed doesn't have headphones, so
he has no idea what's being said, right, So that's

(25:47):
the great thing about it as well. So we could
just talk about the intern plus land It's gone next week,
so it doesn't matter, you know. We appreciate Landing time
and we'll yeah, we'll talk with them again in about
ten minutes or so. Thanks Deb. This is the Doug
Gottlie Show. He's Jonas Knocks, I'm Dan Buyer. That is
John Ramos. Yeah, Warriors up to nothing on the Pelicans
and it models all be uh for nothing because that
series seems to be over. There's there was a point

(26:10):
during at the end of that game where and New
Orleans was playing hard and they were playing competitive. You
had ray Jean Rondo getting a Draymond Green's face. I
mean they were they were trying to be physical, I
mean everything. And there was a point in the game
late where they threw the ball down to Kevin Durant
in the low block and they got help defense and

(26:32):
it was great defense, and he couldn't really go anywhere
with the ball and he didn't have to. He just
turned around and shot it and made it like at
something like there's you can't there's nothing you can do that.
They just come in waves. They and and every time
you think, like you know, the Warriors are good when
getting a lead down to single digits and we're not

(26:52):
talking like three or four, we're talking nine, is like, wow,
that's impressive. It's a three possession game. Like it's still
it's you're not close, you just closer than what you
normally are. And it I think the series is over
and it's not to pile on New Orleans. They've had
a great year. They played well, they were dominant in
the first round. But they like that you hear, you know,

(27:14):
there are levels to this. There's another level with Golden
State that they're that New Orleans is, there's nowhere close.
Last night on the inside the NBA t n C broadcast,
well a couple of things happen. We'll get to that
in a sect, but they were Kenny, Charles, Shack and
Ernie were also talking about just the the matchup. And
we've talked about matchups on the show because I mean
matchups in a general term. It sounds very generic, but

(27:38):
it's true, and I think that matchups in the n
C Double A tournament are what it's it's all about,
where if you are playing a team that maybe you're
not accustomed to playing that style and you're a favorite,
you can be upset. The Pelicans play the same game
as Golden State, so Golden State is better at that
game than the Pelicans do. I mean, Golden State more

(27:59):
efficient at shooting the three, or at least maybe the
amount of threes that they shoot, I should say. However,
the fact is it's Golden State plays a similar game
to what the Pelicans can do, at least in tempo style. Obviously,
you have Anthony Davis, so you're gonna get a lot
of a lot more points in the paint but they
were talking about how New Orleans can win the series.

(28:21):
And that's the difficult thing is New Orleans can only
win the series by doing what didn't get them there,
and that is so difficult. Like if you're playing and
I'll just use like a Memphis team. And I know
I've used this analogy before, but there was a point,
Jonas in the playoffs when Oklahoma City, san Antonio, san
Antonio in Memphis. We're all kind of in this in
the same group, and one team could beat the other,

(28:45):
but that next team couldn't beat that team. So yeah,
like san Antonio could beat Memphis, Memphis could be Oklahoma
City in Oklahoma City could beat San Antonio, and it
all just was a matter on how it played out
that you were going to advance. And that's what like
where New Orleans is in such a tough spot. They
have to play a game that they don't know how
to play to have any chance in beating Golden State,
because if you continue to play the way that they

(29:07):
do in a seven game series, you're just not going
to win out. It's the old styles make fights um
line that they use in boxing. I know you're a
big boxing guy, of course, I know, boy, we talk
a ton of boxing here on the show because we're
really into ratings, so so this will make a lot
of sense, and this is appropriate. But there are examples
all throughout the history of the sport of one boxer
beats another guy, but then that guy can't beat this

(29:29):
guy who loses to the first box like it's it's
crazy how it works. But styles really do make fights.
But here's the thing about the NBA, and I'm I've
been critical about the four seven game series all the
way through. I just think it's too much. I know
it's never gonna change, but it's why I think they
should shorten. They'd either go a five or three early
on in the playoffs because you can trim the fat.

(29:50):
And I also think it will give a team late
in the season a reason to want to pursue a
playoff spot as opposed to tanking, because they realize, oh,
I don't have to beat that team four times. Now.
If I can beat them two times in a three
game series or three out of five, I might have
a shot. One thing at the NBA, in the way
they do their playoff format, the best team wins every year.

(30:11):
You to beat a team four times is difficult to
beat them fourth straight. You are so much better than them.
And just think about where we are that New Orleans
was so much better than Portland's. They annihilated Portland's wasn't
close and and Portland was, you know, perceived they were
the higher seed and they had these this great backcourt

(30:34):
and it wasn't even close. And that dominant performance against
Golden State, it's like you're you're seeing that New Orleans
has now turned into Portland in this series and Golden
State is New Orleans in this series. And that's the
difference between one round. I just think about how much
better the competition gets moving forward. I just you're watching
that game, it's like, no matter what they do, they're

(30:55):
not good enough. Yeah, now New Orleans has to go
home down to Oh but you have to win those
next two games. I mean, this isn't This isn't calvs.
Warriors three one matchup that we had a couple of
years ago. That's not this. This is You're in New Orleans.
You have to win both games and that's tough to do.
And as you point it out, the NBA switched from
the five to the seven game series, not just for

(31:16):
more money for the simple fact of they didn't want
their top teams to be knocked out. When Denver knocked
out Seattle twenty some years ago into Kenby mutambo Is
lying on the ground with the basketball was a five
game series, and so the NBA is like, all right,
maybe we don't want our top team in the West home,
and now you know the Denver Nuggets are moving on.
It was there's the Pelicans have their backs against the wall,

(31:38):
and maybe the best matchup that we've got in this series,
Jonas between the Pelicans and Warriors now occurs on an
individual basis, and it's not Draymond Green against any member
of the Pelicans like Rajon Rondo. Instead, it's Draymond Green
against Charles Barkley. Because this is what Charles Barkley said
at the half of last night's games, chatter between Rondo

(31:59):
and that's what you want to call it in the face,
I really don't like that was Charles Barkley about Draymond
Green last night. That is Charles Barkley, the former player, Like,

(32:20):
I don't think TV analyst Charles Barkley actually wants a
piece of Raymond Green. But he's speaking as a player
in that series, something that Charles Barkley and his Sixers
mixed it up with more than a few times, whether
it be with the Pistons or with the Boston Celtics
where punches were thrown. That's where I think Charles is
coming from it. And for anybody out there, they just

(32:41):
offended by that and and talking about So he's talking
about assault, You're you're supposed to give us an analysis.
It's why that studio show is the best show that's
ever been done in sports television period, and it's never
been taught and nobody's ever come close, because those guys
are honest and they've got the credibility to be able

(33:02):
to say those things. And you go, well, I mean,
he wouldn't actually do it now, but when he was
playing he absolutely would do it. Now. He threw, he
would get in fights when he wasn't playing basketball. He
threw a guy through a plate glass window. I mean,
he he's insane. But it's that kind of analysis which
makes that show better than any You would never hear
that from anybody anywhere else, but it's it's appropriate and

(33:24):
it's okay for them to do it because of the
style of the show. I love it. I think it's
fantastic and it's only fair for equal time. As Draymond
Green was relayed the message of what Charles Barkley said
and responded like this after the game. If you feel
that strongly about something, he's seen me a million times.
If he feel that strongly about it, then pushed me
in my face when you see me. If you're not
gonna push me in my face when you see me,
then shut up. It's no different than somebody sitting behind

(33:46):
a computer screen tweet I'll knock you out and you
never see him in life. Well, he's seen me a
bunch of times and he'll see me again this year.
Pushed me in the face when you see me, or
if not, no one cares what you would have done.
You're old and it is what it is, So you
ain't gonna talking about. Uh. Look, here's the other thing.

(34:06):
And we know this from working with as many former
athletes as we have, a lot of them aren't willing
to be totally honest. Okay, and it's not trying to
call anybody out, but it's a fact because they don't
want to burn bridges or they've got friends in the league,
so they don't want to they don't want to be
honest about stuff because they still have relationships within the league.

(34:26):
Those guys don't care. They don't they don't give a
rip there. Like how many times has Shot gone into
it with the Javelle McGhee to where they've gone back
and forth and Javelle McGhee has gotten mad because he's
been on shocked in a fool like a hundred times. Yeah,
and and Shack doesn't care. I do, I do not care.
They're not you. You aren't getting a paycheck from the
NBA anymore. You're getting a paycheck from Turner Sports. And

(34:49):
it's a nice one and at least they're doing their job.
There are too many analysts that go on wanting to
maintain friendships and aren't giving you the full store. This
is the thing as well that should be noted. They
have the credentials to say this as well. And sometimes
if a player doesn't have the credentials and says those
same things, it isn't taken or isn't looked at with
as much credibility because they say, oh, they weren't that

(35:11):
great of a player. Those guys have the credentials to
back up what they're saying, besides John, who do you
want to punch in the face of Fox? Oh gosh, geez,
can we can we go over that? Maybe later on?
Do like a you know rankings, alright, do like the
final four? Maybe just like Landing Collins of the fan
bases that he hates Auburn one. Then the Eagles to
Redskins three. Uh, Dan Buyer, Jonas Knox, and for Doug

(35:33):
Gottlieb here on Fox Sports Radio. Coming up next year
on FSR, there is a a pro bowler, a multiple
time pro bowler that nobody wants. Nobody wants this guy.
Find out why next year on FSR, I'm Dan Buyer.
That's Jonas Knocks. John Ramos is here as well as

(35:53):
we are in for Doug today, and of course we
need some help when we play a game. This is
game time on the Doug Gottlieb Show, deb Carson this year,
Let's keep everything in line as we play a game
today Hell or today, Hello, de Hello, Dan, Hello, Jonas?

(36:15):
Is the game today is real news? Fake news? Alright? Alright?
First story, seventies Sixers head coach Brett Brown told reporters
number one overall pick Mark hell Faults is a long
shot to play in Game two against the Celtics after
not playing in Game one. Real news are fake news. Okay,
here's this is. I'm going to try to read between

(36:37):
the lines. If he doesn't want to, he doesn't want
to reveal his hand, So any plan for Mark l
faults that would be revealed, I would have to say
fake news. I don't know if he's gonna play tonight,
but I think it would be fake that Brett Brown
would say that. Jonas, what do you think? Yeah, I
think it's I don't think he's going to play because
I don't think he wants to hear what those Boston

(36:58):
fans have to say about Mark Folts not not very
nice things. Um, I'm gonna say fake news. Yes, well done, gents.
Some fans may have been surprised the c Fols benched
in the first game against the Sixers in favor of
t J McConnell, but Brown said he weighed several factors,
including McConnell's success with the club over the course of
the season. He said it would be foolish, however, to

(37:21):
consider Folds dead and buried at this point, and another
point with that t J McConnell is just a much
better player right now. So there there's no excuse, Brett Brown.
Don't worry about it. We get it. Just think about
what you just said and how that's true. That t
J McConnell is a better player than the number one
pick of the draft. That's unbelievable. And they traded up

(37:43):
to get him. They'd say that, we're fouls of it.
I was bad. That stunk. That was that was. That
was junk news. Definitely fools gold. Moving right along on
that note, Cowboys VP of Player Personnel Will McClay told
the four Worth Star Telegram the reason they cut Dez
Bryant came down to money, and if Dez was willing

(38:05):
to take a pay cut, he'd still be a member
of the Cowboys. Real news, fake news. I'm gonna say
real news on that one. I think that that I'm
gonna go fake news. Yeah. McLay says the inability to
win one on one matchups down the field was the
main factor in cutting Dez. Also says there was an

(38:27):
inability to create separation, there was inconsistency, and they just
made a decision in uh, of course, what is a
production based business. Also a little tidbit Adam Schefter reporting
there are four more teams unwilling to pay Brian, even
the league Mina Mama, than there are teams that would
consider signing him to any contract. We were doing this exercise.

(38:51):
Deb You're a Cowboys fan, so you probably know this
better than anybody. We're doing this Rady Quinn and I
on our show. We're doing this exercise. Who in the
NFC East could really you des Brian if he if
he really wanted to get back at the Dallas Cowboys?
And you know who could really used as Bryant? The
Dallas Cowboys. They have nobody to throw too. And the
fact that even they didn't want him anymore ought to

(39:13):
tell you exactly how it was for him in that
locker room. Man. Moving right along with that happy note.
NFL fans in the UK are frustrated that, due to
unprecedented demand, they are actually missing out on tickets. Real news,
fake news, Uh, real news, They're real and they're spectacular,

(39:36):
that's right. Tickets are ending up on resale sites for
up to seven hundred bucks of tickets, so real fans
are being priced out. And finally, guys, Cardinals quarterback Sam
Bradford welcome first Round picked Josh Rosen to the team
and is open to helping him adjust to his life
as an NFL quarterback. Real news, fake news. I think
that's fake news because I think when they met, Bradford
sprained as MCL. That's just terrible and that's so negative.

(39:59):
I'm gonna stay that that's real though. They're real and
they're spectacular, that's right. He even Rosen read a text
sent to him a saying quote, just wanted to let
you know that I look forward to playing with you.
Welcome to Arizona. I'll be an open book, so if
you ever need anything or have any questions, feel free
to ask. This is game time on the Duck Gottlieb Show.

(40:23):
I mean, let's be honest. Bradford really wasn't gonna handle
this the same way you handled the Carson Wentz draft,
was he? You know? That didn't go too well? So well,
people don't know about that meeting with Rosen and Bradford
is Rosen asked him out to lunch, and Bradford's like

(40:44):
and John Ramo says here as well, one of the
great in baseball, two Tomb World Series champ Johnny Damon
gonna join us in about twenty minutes. Thanks to Landed
Collins of the New York Giants for joining us earlier
in the show. NBA Playoffs rolling on just one game tonight,
Jonas Jazz Rockets tonight from Houston, a game two that

(41:06):
starts at eight o'clock Eastern time. Are you gonna ask
Johnny Damon about naked pull ups before the Alcs Game seven?
I don't know. I think maybe maybe what I'll try
to do is I'll ask something that you could just
slide right in with that and do something. I think
there's a lot of good Red Sox Yankee stuff that
we can get in with Johnny Damon and will do
that as well. Some news in the NFL that surfaced

(41:27):
yesterday that was interesting, to say the least, and it's
centered in the great city of Pittsburgh. Steelers quarterback Ben
Roethlisberger saying, now after these last couple of years, Jonas
of maybe some indecision in the off season, saying that
he expects to play three or five more seasons. This

(41:50):
less than a week after the Steelers used a third
round pick to take Oklahoma State quarterback Mason Rudolph in
the draft. So Ben Roethlisberger, who has said previous off
seasons if he wouldn't even know if he was going
to play next year or that next season, now is
saying that he plans to play three to five more
years for the Black and Gold. Yeah, it seems like

(42:13):
he's made up his mind. I mean, he's only hinted
it retirement a couple of times over the past couple
of years, and now it seems seems like a very
very he's very sure of what his career is gonna
look like. Make up your mind, man, I mean, what
is is this just because they drafted a quarterbacks and
now it's like f him like I'm not here to
mentor anybody. This is going to turn into far Vin Rogers.
I mean, come on, this is a quarterback that I

(42:36):
don't want to say is not comfortable in his own
skin Jonas, But he seems to always try to be
something that he's not and that he's he's never himself,
and if he is himself, he comes off as a
jerk at times. I mean this if if you want
to take the full circle of Ben Roethlisberger's career. As

(42:56):
we look at these comments, Jonas, we had heard report
that of Pittsburgh, that that even when they were winning
Super Bowls, he wasn't well liked in town, like he
wasn't the quarterback that the city of Pittsburgh loved, and
that at times he could be aloof maybe a little
stand office. There were also the allegations that were made
against him with sexual misconduct. All of that surrounded Ben

(43:18):
Roethlisberger in his early years. Something seemed to change midway
through where maybe he warmed up to the media or
learned how to talk to the media, or maybe it
was a little bit more genuine. But when you had
seen the comments over these last couple of years, if
I don't know if I'm gonna play again, I don't
know if I'm gonna play again, that seems to be
very Brett farvesh And what it also does is it

(43:41):
brings out trying to get the fan base to say, Bet,
we don't want you to leave, we don't want you
to go anywhere, we don't want you to do anything.
Please stay b our quarterback. He's almost fishing for compliments
when he was leaving his status up in the air.
Now he wants to put on the Tom Brady role
when he feels retned or thinking that the Steelers may
actually not want him anymore, and now he says, well,

(44:04):
I may end up playing the next three or five years.
He just he can't. It's always got to be something
or it's always got to be a character for some
sort of story or narrative that wants to pass along.
And it's just getting really old as you watch this unrate.
He's also called out his coach and his teammates on
multiple occasions. In fact, I don't remember a season where
he hasn't taken a shot in the media at Mike Tomlin,

(44:26):
which with the way they practice or whatever you want
to call it. Imagine if that was somebody else a right,
Imagine if Jay Cutler had done that when he was playing,
called out his coach, which he never did, or called
out a teammate, which he never did, despite what anybody
wants to say, how would that have been portrayed. But
with Roethlisberger, you just kind of expected, like he's just
one of those passive, aggressive guys who's going to say

(44:49):
things through the media. I also heard that he was
upset m or kind of uh surprised by the trade
of Martavis Brian and uh, you know what didn't didn't
really see it. Isn't it the same guy that he
called out, like he called Martvis brian out before. He's
taken shots at Martvis Bryant for the way he handled
his career early on. So I just whenever he's one

(45:09):
of those guys when he starts talking, you just kind
of take it with a grain of salt. Okay, man,
all right, because you can jot down, you can do
a timeline, you can mark these quotes that he gave
within the last twenty four hours, and then six months
from now he's going to say something that's the complete opposite,
and at some point you just go, all right, when
just stop laeving him. I look at Ben Roethlisberger at

(45:30):
his time, and he's got a contract that runs through
twenty nineteen, where if you're the Pittsburgh Steelers now you
start to say, if there's any drop off that you
have got in the next two years that you'll see
in and twenty nineteen, maybe you end up making the
decision like the Green Bay Packers had to do. I
don't think that Ben Roethlisberger has the poll that Brett

(45:52):
Farve had, and look at how difficult it was for
Brett far but Green Bay ended up having to do it.
They had to move on. Brett five ends up announcing
his retirement in March, so they've moved down to Aaron Rodgers,
and then five wants to come back, and then it
ends up being the end of the Brett Farve era
in Green Bay. I'm not saying that Ben Roethlisberger is
going to announce his retirement Jonas, but when you are
the Pittsburgh Steelers and you wanted to write by all

(46:15):
your players, but if he hasn't done right by you,
this makes it, in my mind, a heck of a
lot easier for the Pittsburgh Steelers to move on from
Ben Roethlisberger whenever they would like to, or whenever they
would see fit. I mean, we just had Landon Collins
On and we're talking about Eli Manning, a guy that
summoned that building, thought last year was at the end
of his rope, that this was the end of Eli's career.

(46:36):
Maybe they should start looking forward. Well, if you're the
Pittsburgh Steelers and you see Ben Roethlisberg and making those comments,
I would say, guess what makes a little bit easier?
Because this year we actually tried to plan for something
that you were saying you're planning for your retirement, and
now you're gonna go around and and essentially do us
like this. If I'm Pittsburgh, I can't wait till the bend.

(46:58):
If I'm a Steelers front of this guy, I can't
wait for the Ben Roethlisberger to be over to not
deal with these headings. Well, although look there's been plenty
of time. I mean, Mike Tomlin, I'm sure he's probably
annoyed with it, but I think he also realized that's
what he's a damn good quarterback. So I I sort
of this is sort of what you have to deal
with when you're there. But this, like everyone talks about
how dysfunctional the Patriots all of a sudden, all right,

(47:20):
like everyone talks about all the Patriots dysfunction, and Belichick
and Brady don't like each other, as Tom Brady ever
called out Bill Belichick in public. Never once, uh yeah, never,
never once has he gone down that road. If it's
and now the media knows when you go to Roethlisberger,
whether it's an actual real quote something he actually believes,

(47:41):
you know, he's going to talk. He's also very sensitive
to criticism. I've heard from a lot of people that
didn't even know they were blocked by Ben Roethlisberger on
Twitter because they may have tweeted something they didn't even
maybe direct the tweet at him. Maybe he searched his
name and saw criticism, and they go on there and go, oh,
I'm blocked to like people like people also a sudden
started checking in the media and realize, oh, yeah, he

(48:03):
blocked me. I I didn't even I didn't even know.
So he's very sensitive that. He's just he's a bit
of a diva. He likes to complain, he wants to
you can never believe everything he says. He just always
realized that he's going to go back on his word
later on and say something completely the opposite. He's just
this is just part of what you deal with Roethlisberg. Unfortunately,
this is the drama that comes on. Well, that's it,

(48:25):
and this isn't what you get from a top level
quarterback in the National Football League. And that's what's what
I think is is unique about this. You're not seeing.
I mean, Drew Brees is far and away going to
be the starting quarterback for the Saints and there was
even them talk of them maybe getting Lamar Jackson. You
didn't see Drew Brees saying, you know what, I want
to play three or four more years. You didn't see that.

(48:47):
You see Tom Brady making that comment with the New
England Patriots, and he said before. And that's where I
think that Ben is trying to play these roles that
he thinks that people like, or he's trying to get
that admiration. Because we've heard Tom Brady say I'd like
to play in my mid forties three to five more years.
We've heard that comment before. We've heard Brett fare threatened

(49:09):
retirement every offseason. And here the Packer fans being like,
oh no, Brett's you know, is he gonna come back
bend to the same exact thing. He just can't settle
in and be comfortable with himself. And I just think
it puts Mason Rudolph in a tough spot. I mean,
how are you going to feel as the third spring
quarterback coming in there? And now not that Mason Rudolph
thought that he was going to have the starting job

(49:31):
for the next twelve years for the Pittsburgh Steelers if
he was the first overall pick in the draft. Okay,
he's a third round pick, so there's some flexibility there.
But now, how does that how does that go over?
It's just it he puts others in in comfortable positions
for the sake of himself, for the benefit of himself,
and he's done in time and time again in his career.

(49:51):
And it's just it's just if it's getting old to me.
I don't know how the Steelers deal with it. Uh.
It just that team is so fragile when he think
about it, Because you've got a really, really emotional Mike
Tomlin who is so emotional that he'll trip players on
kickoff returns. Uh, You've got You've got him Levy on Bell,

(50:11):
who the hell knows what's happening there. You've got Antonio
Brown that may or may not go on Facebook live
in the locker room after a game. You've got Ben
Roethlisberger who goes back on his word and criticize his
teammates for their being. I mean, they're just like emotionally,
they're just fragile. Man. Like every every year there's drama.
You had after they lost to the Bears, and and

(50:33):
it was during the national anthem protests and all that
stuff you had. Then Ben Roethlisberger going back on his
word again and saying it's just it's it's a weird
saying what he thinks just a weird dynamic. Man. Just
it's something. I mean, be yourself. Just just go with it.
Be I mean, I understand that you made some mistakes
early on in your career. I get all that, but

(50:54):
come on, man, enough, it's it's just the same old story,
just in different instance. Is Yeah, and if I'm the
Pittsburgh Steelers, I am done with it, Dan Buyer Jonas
knocks him for Doug Gottlieb here on Fox Sports Radio.
By the way, I do want to say this, um
done with it, like in two years, because they still
would need Ben Roethlisberger this season and next season as well.
So you've got you've got that. But well, I mean, well,

(51:18):
let me ask you this, Dan, Yeah, why do you
hate Ben roethlis I don't hate Ben Roethlisberger. I don't
hate Ben Roethlisberger. I just think that the way that
he goes about things, yeah, you know, is just um.
I just think that they could be they could be
done a little bit easier, that there's easier ways to
do this. That being said, if he wants to come

(51:38):

you know he'll rip somebody on his own team. That's
always come on. We want to make some news, like

(53:45):
to John first this time just to promote his Twitter
handle because the John Ramo Show is coming up in
a little over an hour from now here on Fox
Sports Radio. It takes a lot of people to get
the show together. I appreciate the plug. They're coming up
at two Pacific time, five thirty on the East Coast,
the best five minutes of variety sports talking. All right,

(54:06):
it's a variety show. You guys know what it's about. Yeah,
absolutely well, I mean we know that you know what
it's about, even rehearsing it the entire show at J
S Ramos zero six. By the way, I think it's
about time that John Ramo Show gets his own Twitter handle,
don't you. I mean, like, like like I know that John,

(54:27):
you don't want to be spread too thin, but I
think it's about time that maybe the John Ramo Show
just gets its own handle. So if people want to
strictly focus on the show, that's where they can get
all their information. What are you saying is stop tweeting
us about the John Ramo Show. Just to Jo bog
My Twitter down everybody. Jonas think it gets you at
a JA and I met Dan Buyer on Fox Major

(54:50):
League Baseball rolling along the Boston Red Sox cruising, and
the New York Yankees doing it as well. The the
way that this early part of the season is on Jonas.
The Dodgers struggling right now, but when you see like
the who's who, You've got Cleveland in first place, Boston
in first place, the Astros in first place, a lot
of maybe what we expected. The Yankees, as I mentioned,

(55:12):
playing well and would be a wild card right now,
but not a ton of surprises at least in the
good way of things in Major League Baseball is as
the cream of the crop have risen to the occasion
so far. Uh yeah, and um it's with all the
weather delays and all the cold weather, and you're just
waiting to see, all right, well, you know, some some

(55:33):
players off to a slow start, but you know things
heat up, they'll be fine. Uh and then you see
you darbish, wow, like I turned into a gas can
and it warmed up. As long as they're not playing
the Brewers. Of course he stinks, he is, Jonas knocks,
I'm Dan Buyer joining us now a two time World
Series champ who now has uh something different on his mind,
and that is uh the two steps. Johnny Damon joining

(55:55):
us here on Fox Sports Radio as Johnny as a
member of the Dancing with the Star cast. Hey, Johnny,
thanks so much for coming on. Yeah, thanks for having
me guys. UM definitely was a great experience. It was
definitely quick. Yeah, I was gonna say, how the heck
did you get eliminated first? I mean, what was that
like worst case scenario for you? Or is this best
case scenario? Now you can sit back and don't have

(56:16):
the pressure on you. Well, I can definitely sit back.
But I had a great dance for a week two. UM.
The issue arose that we there was just no time
to vote. I mean that that was the biggest issue,
Like all of my friends cannot um tune in. Granted,

(56:37):
I'm not the best dancer, we know that, but but
then all reality, I was definitely between six and nine.
So but it's all good. You know. It was a
great experience. I did something that I never um would
have done before. But my mom has always wanted me

(56:59):
to learn how to day, and my girls know how
to dance, so it's a great experience. Unfortunately, with the
way the voting was, it was really tough to advance. Um,
they always say that when you when you work out
new muscles or if you do a new workout routine
or something, you know it works if you're really sore

(57:19):
the next day, especially in those areas that you worked out.
So that being said, never dancing before the first time
you started it, describe what your body felt like the
days afterwards. Well, this is the first time in a
long time that I committed four plus hours to a workout,
and I am so grateful for that because playing baseball

(57:43):
there was a commitment like when I was a young kid.
When I got older, there was that commitment that I
had to have. And doing dancing when the stars actually
showed me that commitment again, because once you're I'm playing baseball,
I mean, you're not going to go play baseball for

(58:05):
just a fun of it at like for or four
years old. So so this was good to get get
me out there. I actually thought we should have advanced,
but you know, they're they're trying to run a TV show.
It's and it's a great TV show, but there was
so much more that America and the world could have

(58:27):
seen from me. But you know they're the ones losing
out right now because we we had such a great
dance for a week two. Um, it is a vote,
a voting thing, but we cannot control it. So unfortunately
we are out and we will be back for week

(58:49):
number four. I'm gonna say this, Johnny David joining us
here on the Doug Gottlip Show. He's showing us, no,
I'm dan got screwed. Kareem should be the one going home.
Is that? Is that what I'm saying is that? Is
that what I've decided bring because that's how I think
most of us feel it. Guys, guess what Kareem has
been through a lot. You know, he was a stud
back in the seventies and eighties. But this is his

(59:12):
time and it's Tanya Harding's time as well. You know
she from the age of say twenty, her life has
been in chaos. So this, this is good for both
of them. I mean, I live a great life. I
am happy. I have eight kids, I have a great wife,

(59:36):
my mom is still around. You know, I do not
need this, but they do. So I'm very happy. Um,
I'm going to come back and dance very well. And
week four, and I know a lot of people are
upset that I'm not there because I brought energy, I

(59:57):
brought like everything I brought to my team. You know
they're going to miss that when they're doing the rehearsals
and all that stuff. But everybody was great. I love
the experience, but I really wish I could have performed
um next Monday Night. But you know, TV has their priorities,

(01:00:22):
and I wasn't one of them. Johnny Damon with us
here on Fox Sports Radio, Dan Buyer Jonas knocks in
for Doug Gottlieb, two time World Series champion. You played
for a long time in Major League Baseball. What was
your favorite time in the Major Oh, it's gotta be
my time with the Red Sox. I mean, we um,

(01:00:43):
we changed the world's perspective on the Red Sox. I
mean it was always twenty five players, calves, players never
got along, the team knew they were going to lose
going into the season. We changed all that, and and
it was because we had some cool players who didn't

(01:01:04):
give a crap about what happened eight six years ago.
So so that was a incredible experience. I also love
playing for the Yankees. I mean first class organization UM,
top to bottom, and obviously my childhood team, the Kansas
City Royals UM being able to play for six years

(01:01:26):
for them with no revenue sharing where they could not
have a chance to compete. You know, that kind of stunk,
But I'm glad they wanted word series that come a
couple of years ago. What where did you come up
with the idea? At what point were you looking around, going,
you know, what's really going to get this team fired
up if I do some naked pull off? So when
did that idea? Well? I always wanted guys to have fun,

(01:01:50):
Like we're grown men and we're playing a kid's game.
So whenever you're in a clubhouse, you have to enjoy it,
Like you can't sit back and say, oh, I'm getting
ready to play a game. The stinks. I always look
kind of like, this is what we dreamed of as

(01:02:11):
a kid. And being able to play at the big
highest level UM for so many years UM and to
win some championships. I mean, this is the coolest thing ever.
I mean, my life has been really great because of
the game of baseball, but it also took dedication and
and hard work, which goes like that's that's behind the scenes,

(01:02:37):
you know. But championships is the reason why I started
to play play the game of baseball and wanting to
hoist the trophy. So, I mean, my life's great. Johnny
Damon joining us here on the Doug Gotlip Show on
Fox Sports Radio. When you left Boston to go to
the Yankees, was there ever a time that you wish

(01:02:58):
you hadn't left? Oh? Yeah, I mean that was the
toughest choice. I mean, first off, the Red Sox really
weren't um in position to try to resign me. They
had a young kid named Jacobe Elsberry who um only
needed me to be in Boston for one more year

(01:03:19):
before he made his presence stup so and all in all,
like maybe they would have moved me to left field,
but then Manny Ramirez goes somewhere else, which he eventually did.
So so running a baseball team is so hard. I mean,
you have to have five out fielders just ready to
go nowadays, five in fielders ready to go nowadays. And

(01:03:44):
you know, it was a great experience, but I understand
that what the GM's are going through. I mean, you
always have to get younger for centinfield. I mean, one
one moment before I know your time is short, So
I just want to quickly ask you this, because well,
John Kyle of Stanton's going through uhh, I mean being
traded to the Yankees. This spotlight is enormous on him.

(01:04:06):
Even when he does well, there's something going wrong. Does
that just come to the territory. What kind of advice
would you give him of maybe something that that he
didn't know he would be getting playing for the New
York Yankees, I would say, talked to a Rod. I
mean a Rod has been through everything, everything through the
media and all uh Stanton has to do hit home

(01:04:30):
runs and hit them when they count. I mean, it's
a long season and he's going to catch fire, and
I can't wait for him to catch fire. But this
game of baseball is so humbling that not one day
can you go out there and pack yourself on the back,
because the next day he might face Jessin Burlander, who

(01:04:53):
just punches you out a couple of times. So I
think that's why when everybody meets baseball players, they they're
mostly very humble, and they understand that it's a game
of failure and they can step up at any time
and be the greatest player of all time and then

(01:05:15):
the next minute on everybody's atlas. So he just needs
to go out and play. At the end of the year,
you're gonna see his stats. He's gonna have four d
plus home runs, hundred RBIs, hundre runs scored, and everyone's
gonna say it's a great year. But right now it's

(01:05:38):
kind of tough to do. But this kid is a
stud and he's going to be incredible. He's Johnny Damon
cast member of Dancing with the Stars Athlete Edition. Even
though he was voted off this week, he's going to
be back in about three weeks as well. Johnny, We
appreciate it. Enjoy the rest of the season, even if
you are looking for looking from afar, and enjoy this

(01:05:59):
baseball season with you're shipping up to be something special.
We appreciate it absolutely, guys. Thank you, Johnny David, two
time World Series champ, Dan Buyer Jonas stocks him for
Doug Gottliepierre on Fox Sports Radio. You do want to
let you know we are brought to you by a
true car. Car shopping can be confusing with terms like dealer, price, list, price,
and invoice. True car shows you what other people paid
for the car you want, so you can recognize a

(01:06:20):
good price when you're ready to buy a new or
used Carve is a true car to enjoy more confident
car buying experience. Up next here on Fox Sports Radio,
there is something that all of you see on a
daily basis. We are going to expose it here on
national Radio. That is coming up next, But for all
the latest from around the world of sports. Step Carson, gentlemen,

(01:06:40):
it's Mookie Bets world. We're just living in it, singsny
Hammerson deep center. Failed. Wait, it's good. Third home run
of the game for Mokeye Bats. He's pulled off the
hat trick again. Mookie Bets makes it five to three
by forwardly the final score. Red Sox be the Royals
on the Sock Radio Network. Mookie Bets is the first

(01:07:02):
player in Major League history with four three homer games
before the age of twenty six. Also three home runs. Today,
edwin ins on three homers six RBI Indians ripped the
Rangers twelve to four. Twins shut out the Blue Jay's
four zip. Carlos Martinez was the starter ated a solo
home run to his own effort Dexter Fowler with a

(01:07:24):
two run That was the difference for the Cardinals. They
held off the White Sox three to have free baseball
right now in Detroit. The Raise and Tigers nodded at
to a piece there in the top of the twelve inning,
and finally guys. Ben Roethlisberger has flirted with retirement over
the last few seasons. The Steelers quarterback told the Pittsburgh
Post Gazette he plans to stay and play three to

(01:07:45):
five more years if he can stay healthy and if
his offensive line remains intact. Oh big Ben, what well?
What a guy? Geez, it's of it. You just are
not a big fan of big bend. Hey, do you
have that Mookie Bets highlight? Ready? Okay, just sack you
ready for this? You ready? Hammers deep center failed, way back,

(01:08:08):
It's gone better. That would be my home run call.
I don't know, I know it's kind of like a
John Sterling sort of things, but it's more of a
Yankees thing. But yeah, yeah, it would be you better,
You better? You Bets would be my home run call
for Mookie bet. You know what they say, Dan, you
did it all for the Mookie. Oh Mary, Oh, that

(01:08:38):
was great. Thanks, We appreciate it, Devil. I'll be back
with the press coming up, and of course have EDNY
breaking news in the latest that is going on. Click baits.
By the way, this is the gotlip show that Joe
to sknocks John Ramos on Dan Buyer. Click baits is
something that we see a lot in sports. I love it.
It's it reels you in a headline says, oh what

(01:09:01):
is that all about? You want to you want to
hook the reader or hook the listener. We try to
do it in radio. You try to do that right teasing.
Absolutely the article that we saw prior to the show,
and I will reveal it to you is the one
and eighty degree exact opposite of click bait, and the

(01:09:24):
message on this story was thunder will do anything they
can to get rid of Carmelo Anthony. Okay, no, duh okay.
That is that is the most obvious thing that we have.
I think of all the headlines that we've seen, there
are very few things that can top that. In being obvious.

(01:09:45):
It would be like John Ramos listens to Suzanne, that
would be the headline of the article. It is the
most obvious there is. But there was another article where
there was a pretty obvious headline, but I think there's
a little bit more here, and it happens to deal
with the Oakland Raider As. Now, there's a report from
the Bleacher Reports Mike Freeman is saying that John Gruten

(01:10:06):
is slowly taking over the Raiders organization. The report says
that Gruden has consolidated power and effectively replaced Reggie Mackenzie
as the Raiders GM CEO and just about everything else. Well,
I mean, it's good to see that Mike Freeman actually
did something non race related for once in the last
two years. So it's good to see you went down

(01:10:27):
that avenue, got that man. Don't even get me started
on that guy Silver and Black. You know who's that? Well,
at least we we hit our quota? Um, yeah, man,
did it? Did everyone expect? Did anybody really think that
Reggie Mackenzie's first choice was to get a coach who
had a longer term deal than he did and a

(01:10:50):
better relationship with the owners? Did anybody really think that
was that's my ideal, higher, that's who I wanted. When
when you're spending ten million dollars on a guy that
that that you have more from the from the booth
for how long? And then you finally do it. You
think John Gruden is gonna be like, it's great to
be here, Reggie. What do you got to let me

(01:11:11):
hear it? You know, let's go with that. No, absolutely,
like what did you expect if you were in Oakland?
And there was There was even some news made this
weekend about how the Chiefs drafted Reggie Mackenzie's son and
the Raiders didn't imagine how awkward that would be. All
of a sudden, guess what, Reggie Mackenzie is gonna be
out of a gig, out of a job, Charles Woods

(01:11:32):
and I can't believe that his son is gonna where
a Chief Jersey or Reggie Mackenzie may not belong for
the Silver and Black. This story is not surprising, but
there's a bigger picture over of it as well. This
is what it takes Jonas to bring a name back
into a sport where this certain structure has shown time

(01:11:53):
and time again outside of New England that it fails.
Where a head coach has the supreme power to decide
pretty much everything in the organization. But that's the price
you're gonna pay when you get John Gruden. John Drewden
was the most in demand coaching candidate, not on the
this offseason, but over what the last five six years,
I mean every single state. I mean we're not talking

(01:12:13):
about just the NFL. We're talking about college. Remember that
bogus rumor that was out there that he was going
to take the Tennessee job. Come on, man, like some
of the craft that came out, like every he was
so in demand. If you're that in demand to where
you can get this type of contract when you've been
out of the game as a coach for as long

(01:12:34):
as he has, part of the deal was the amount
of power he was going to get. He was never
going to take a job in the NFL unless he
got a certain level of power that exceeded what other
coaches get around the lead. Like, that's just the way
it goes. The coaches who haven't done nearly as much
in other sports, they get that same level of power.
I mean, look at stan Van Gundy got got got

(01:12:55):
personnel control with the Detroit Pistons. Stan Ban Gundy has
never won an NBA title. But when you want to
get somebody, you when you want to get somebody you
need to you you've got to float out, added benefits
things along the way that are going to entice them
to want to come back. Then I guarantee at some
point or another, John Gruden said, I don't want my

(01:13:16):
career tied to Reggie mackenzie because if you feel like
he's not doing the job, I don't. I don't want
to be the scapegoat or I don't want to be
thrown out when Reggie Mackenzie gets fired. I want to
be separate from him. And Reggie Mackenzie knows that, Yeah,
this is not a secret. We've seen time and time again.
And I go back just for following the Seahawks when
Mike Holmgren left Green Bay. The reason Mike Holmgren left

(01:13:36):
Green Bay wasn't because he hated being with the Green
Bay Packers. He wanted that parcels did it at every
stop he was at in the NFL. And if the
worst thing for Mike holme Grid, for at least for
Packer fans, is when Mike Holmgren left and then had
that power in Seattle, Green Bay ended up bringing Mike
Sherman in his offensive coordinator in Seattle, and within like

(01:13:57):
two or three years, Sherman had the control that Holmgren
always wanted in Green Bay. But that's what it was
all about. It was about control. And guess what, it
didn't work out as well as the Seahawks would have hoped.
So one point, then they take away that power from
Mike homb Grin and what do you know, the Seahawks
end up going to Super Bowl forty. So this is
this is you know, New England is the outlier, but

(01:14:18):
you're gonna have to pay the price if you want
that guy. So the Raiders know what they're getting into.
Reggie mackenzie should know what he's getting into. Raider fans
should know what they're getting into. Once John Gruden takes over.
There's a lot of people on planet Earth, right Dan,
A lot of people. I mean we're you know, we
don't even know the exact Yeah, I mean, there's there's
a lot of people on planet Earth. You know, only

(01:14:40):
thirty one in the history of planet Earth have won
a Super Bowl. John Gruden's one of them, okay, And
that comes with a certain level of power that you
can throw around whenever you want. Mike Ditka was given
personnel control in New Orleans because he won a Super
Bowl one he won a super Bowl with really really

(01:15:00):
talented team in the mid eighties, and not only and
that's what it took to get him to take the
New Orleans job. And what did he do. He made
a really really smart trade and traded away like his
entire draft for one player who ended up not staying
there that long. But that just goes to show you
that when you win a Super Bowl, you were put
in rarefied air. You get better jobs than everybody else,

(01:15:21):
You get opportunities other people don't get, and you get
power in places that other people don't get. Bill Belichick
wasn't given personnel power just because he won some Super
Bowls as an assistant. He built up that that he
built up credit along the way because he did good
things in New England. This is not a surprise to anybody.
Come on, Dan buyer shares his food. That would be

(01:15:43):
a wrong buyer doesn't like this year's food. That would
be like the obvious one that would be would be
that would be the one, just like Joey on Friends.
Friends has been a topic on The Doug Gotlip Show
this week. It's it's like the story that came out
before we get to break the one that came out
I think last week or within the last week to
where Reggie Mackenzie, Uh, Reggie Mackenzie says a relationship with

(01:16:05):
Gruden is working great? Why are you announcing that? Man?
If John walked in during the break and said, Hey,
Susanna and I are doing awesome, within ten minutes, I'm saying,
all right, John, what are we going drinking? Clearly that
relationship is a sinking ship. She wouldn't be bringing that
up out of the blue. So the fact, I mean, look,
it's not for long between Mackenzie and Gruden, I would imagine,

(01:16:26):
and Mackenzie's probably feeling the heat when intern Landing unprovoked
just walked in and said, I love in turning on
the show. I was like, what are you talking about?
You know what? What's landon? What is truly going on here?
What in the final week can we do for you
to make it better? Like I saw the signs right away,
just like you, um Dan Buyer Jonas nocks him for
Doug Gottlieb here Fox Sports Radio. Get Dan on Twitter
at Dan Buyer on Fox, you can get me at

(01:16:47):
the Jones. Do you think Johnny Damon felt robbed that
he was still not on Dancing with the Stars. Yeah,
I've never he he was on one. He was not
happy with the voting. Yeah, he wasn't gonna let that
one and go. Sorry, I know he was not happy. Listen.
He's competitive, he wants to win um and very very

(01:17:08):
nonchalant about the naked pull ups, which was uncomfortable. All right, Uh,
coming up next year on Fox Sports Radio, there is
a one of the great players in all of sports. Alright,
one of the great players in all of sports has
made a bit of a surprising admission. Find out who
it was. Next year on FSR, they're going on Stacy's Mom.

(01:17:38):
John Ramos is here as well. Was developing news social
media wise? Is there not a John Ramo's Twitter handle?
Breaking news Dan, Jonas, Ryan and dev A at the
John Ramo Show Twitter account has been created by a
good friends here at Fox Sports Radio. Not really, it
was creatid by me, but anyway, so check it out

(01:18:00):
at the John Ramo Show. Lots of fun stuff going
on and I'm not really not yet just one tweet
so Faray, who was your first follower? John? I'd have
to check on that. I'm not really looking at it right,
I really have to check. I just told you the break.
I can't find it, so I don't know unless it's
not coming up. Is it at John Ramo Show or
at No No, no no, John Romo Show. It's it's at

(01:18:20):
l Chopo there. I'm at John Ramo Show zero six
and that's not working. Um at the John Ramo the okay,
so it's who ease, no, just okay, so at the
John Ramo Show. Let's look, it's not coming up. I'm
telling you it's I don't know. Yeah, it's so fresh,

(01:18:42):
you know. No, it's your Okay, there's the profile. You
know your handle is John Ramo show. Your description of
your name where it would say John Ramos is at
the John Ramo Show. Yeah, it's actually it's at Yeah,
thank you dev, thank you very much. Those Well, I

(01:19:04):
would just say at John Ramo Show, like the V though,
I like the profile, but we can't even get the
Twitter handle right, Well, why don't you just remove the
APT from the John Ramo Show and separate the words. Well,
let me come on, that would be too easy, okay, sorry, yeah, yeah,
you could just figure it out. Yeah, to help me
developing story that that the John Ramo Show is the

(01:19:29):
Twitter handle of at John Ramo show, where there is
no v that's where you're going to find it right now,
got three, we're the only three to find it because
it's and I refused to follow this garbage. I'm just
straighten out. I apologize National Airwaves. What did you say?

(01:19:51):
What is the twitter? And what is twitter name? And
now Chris Annex has something for Anthony Davis after last
night's Pelicans lost to the Golden State Warriors. Fifteen points
for Kevin Durant when it mattered in the fourth quarter,
Anthony Davis didn't even lead his team in shots in

(01:20:14):
the fourth quarter. That was Rondo with eight. He finished
with five points really only two of them during a
consequential period of that game fork out of reach in
the final three minutes of Anthony Davis needed to play
big in that game, and Davis didn't, and that's what
costs him. Chris mannocks on first things first. After Anthony
Davis had fifteen points, five rebounds, five assists, a plus

(01:20:35):
minus a plus two and didn't do enough for the Pelicans,
who were in the game for a majority of it
until the late run by the Warriors. How many rebounds
did he have? How many points. Yeah, man, that guy sucks.
He the the we got we got on Chris. I'd

(01:20:56):
be with you if it was Derosian or Kyle Lowry
late in the game. But for the guy who was
really carried an it's been a two man show for
at times a one man show, but at times maybe
a little help from Drew Holiday when Drew dropped forty
one or whatever it was. But I mean he has
he has done pretty much everything to say that Anthony
Davis came up small in this game or didn't show up,

(01:21:18):
or they needed more from him, they gets off base.
Let me tell you something, if twenty five and fifteen
still isn't enough to beat a team, maybe the conversation
should be, yeah, maybe they're just not good enough period.
So I don't mean, come on, man, like you saw that.
You look just watch those two teams. It's clear that

(01:21:38):
there is one level where Golden States at and New
Orleans is in a level below. It's clear, and that's
not to take shots in New Orleans. They played hard,
they were competing, they were getting physical. Uh yet Rondo
getting in Draymond Green's face like we've been talking about it,
but it's just not enough you're not good enough. There
was never a point they were out of the game
last night. Never it was close and golden sides and

(01:22:00):
on at about a ten point lead late with maybe
a couple of minutes left. But otherwise some people like
up by the way, let's wrap this up. But what
does the fox sing? Some people don't like plus minus?
Some people really do. Steph Curry at a plus minus
of plus left the most shocking thing about that game?

(01:22:21):
What's that? Okay? So during halftime, I guess in the
and John Ramos as well. So glad to have you here.
In three hours. The Houston Rockets look to go up
too oh on the Utah Jazz of the Western Conference playoffs,
of the series the four series that are going on
right now. Guys, which ones do you think are are over?

(01:22:41):
Just done with Warriors Pelicans? Yes, yeah, I think I
think if the Rockets win tonight, would that change your
opinion on that series going up? Too? Oh? I'm not sold.
I still think that you talk can win both games
in Salt Lake City. That's that's my opinion. I think

(01:23:02):
that series is over. Okay, that series is over? What
about Calves Raptors? Now that the Calves are up one.
Oh not yet, but I think Toronto is on. Life
is close, yes, and then six or Celtics, I think
is still up in the air. Wait, a lot of
really up in the air. The point being is there
are three series for as great as the first round was,
which was ethic surprising Jonas that we we've been looking

(01:23:26):
forward to the Western Conference Finals for a while because
we knew that it was Golden State, we knew that
it was Houston. But there were a lot of sub
stories throughout the NBA that I think had a lot
of interest, and then the first round ended up living
up to it, whether it be the Calves being taken
to to seven games by the Pacers or even Anthony
Davis and the Pelicans sweeping through Portland. A lot of
good different stories. Thunder and Jazz, a great series. This

(01:23:49):
semifinal series maybe the calm before the storm of the
conference finals, just because as you said, right now, of
these series we feel may already be done with. Yeah,
and look, we we tend to do this and it's
because there's so much time. It's the same thing we
do in the in the NFL. And this is where people,
this is where nerds that put together sites like uh

(01:24:12):
odd Freezing Takes or whatever. The dumb side is, this
is where they make their money, those nerds, right, and
again it's not not to get personally anything like that,
but those dorks and geeks that put together that that site,
this is where they make their money. Because there's so
much time in between games that you end up you
can overreact to. It's the same thing we do in
the NFL, because you've got a week most of the
time between games. There's so much reaction time needed to

(01:24:35):
do shows throughout the week that you sort of forget
big picture. But I'm telling you, man, like you watch
Cleveland and Toronto and you just get a feeling, man,
that was a bad loss, that that one really really
is gonna sting. And I don't think Cleveland's not gonna
sweep them. I do think Toronto could get a game
in Cleveland. But would you be that surprised, I mean,

(01:24:56):
Lebron didn't play that well. Would you be that surprised
Cleveland went in there with a better performance from Lebron
James and beat Toronto in game two? I wouldn't be. No,
I wouldn't be surprised. And it disappoints me because I
wanted Toronto to prove everyone wrong. I wanted Toronto to
step up, show that they were a different team. Statistically
they were. They were two years ago they were second
to dead last and assists this year they were a

(01:25:19):
top six team. They still don't shoot the three very well,
but I thought with their depth they were a different
team Jonas and with the with the way that the
Calves at times don't play defense, I figured at Toronto's
got enough guys to score to see how they couldn't
score late and had opportunities, whether it be five tippins
at the end of regulation after Fred van Vleet mrs

(01:25:40):
or after Fred van Vleet then misses in overtime, after
Damar DeRozan ends up not taking advantage of his defensive mismatch.
All of that just poured in and it just makes
me think, Wow, everybody else was right. My hopes of
Toronto proving people wrong just not coming to fruition now.
Let me because and I guess I'm not trying to
call anybody out here in the show, but I know

(01:26:00):
some things about Dan Buyer and I would like to
because I think that there's more to why you want
Toronto to win, right, So let me ask you it
in reverse. If Cleveland, now Dan is a big, big
fan of Jersey's logos, team logos, team designs, and I
think we're gonna get to something here. If Cleveland was

(01:26:20):
wearing their jerseys from the mid nineties, the old Calves logo,
the old Cash jerseys, think Brad Doherty, think Craig Elo
would yeah, would you still would you still want Toronto
to advance? Um? Yes, But I will say this, Cleveland's

(01:26:41):
decision to to move away and add black instead of
their navy embarrassing. It's it's it was not a good move.
It does not look good at all. I have no
idea what that color scheme is. Toronto's is a little
bit more cleared up. But looking at these Caves jerseys
make me want these Sean Kemp in a Calves uniform jerseys.
Those are the ones with the wave when they ended

(01:27:01):
up switching in the midnight. Well, what's what the big
c one too? It's just like a one big scene,
you know, you know what you know? Where you see that?
That's like what like a tagger? Somebody with spray paint
would tag up an overpass in Chicago and called the
Cub's logo. That's what they would call that. Like, what
the hell is that? Just just one cee and it
looks like somebody drew it with their feet. What is that? Yeah,

(01:27:25):
they are awful. They're not good at all, and maybe
it would make me do that. I listen. I've always
been a Lebron supporter. I've inciding of the argument he was.
Actually there are a lot of guys who were Jordan's
guys or Kobe guys. I actually really like Lebron, and
I like Lebron as the player, and maybe he can
take more of his his ego stuff a little bit

(01:27:46):
more than others where it grinds on them. But this
is the first time, and I know Jonas is ready
to read. Well, okay, I'll finish, because I do want
to point something. The fact is is that I just
wanted Toronto to change that narrative. I wanted them. I
remember when this I made a Seahawks reference earlier, when
the Seahawks had Matt hasselback and they went to Super

(01:28:08):
Bowl forty of trying to break through, when the Seahawks
ended up getting home field advantage, and then there was
some that still thought Okay, even though you've got the
you know, the m v P, and you've in Sean
Alexander and you've got this great team, maybe you aren't
ready to win a super Bowl or go to the
Super Bowl. Well, they were able to break through. They
were able to change that narrative. I was hoping that

(01:28:28):
would be the case for Toronto and it just didn't
happen last night. So, Dan Buyer, you do not like
Ben Roethlisberger or he rubs you the wrong way? Correct? Yeah,
I wouldn't say I don't like him. I just there's
a lot of stuff that he does that I don't like.
So just if you were to list two or three
character traits of Ben Roethlisberger that you do not like,

(01:28:49):
what would they be character traits? I think that at
times he's very phony. I think that there are times
that he says stuff that he thinks people want to hear.
Um sounds like Lebron James to me. A lot of similarities.
So why why is it that you like Lebron James
but you don't like Ben roethlis I don't think they're
there on the same level. First of all, I think

(01:29:11):
that Lebron is on a level where he can defend himself.
I don't think Ben is on the level of the
top quarterbacks. I don't as Ben is trying to talk
like Brett or trying to be Brett Farvan, trying to
beat Tom Brady. I don't think he's on that level.
I think Lebron is on the level of the all
time greats because there hasn't been a player that we
have seen before. So I think what he ends up

(01:29:33):
getting is maybe different than a a player who a
high caliber player of Ben Roethlisberger, but not at the
highest extreme level of Lebron James Is. So then let's
round it all the way back around to jerseys. What
if Ben Roethlisberger did the same passive aggressive things that
he always does, but he also did it in the
old Steelers throwback jerseys that are terrible, the bumble bee jerseys,

(01:29:57):
and they like you want the lineman looked like the
bea girl roll off the blind Melon commercial the video
years ago. Man that man think, yeah, like who in Pittsburgh?

(01:30:18):
Who in Pittsburgh? Whose idea was it? Was? It Todd
Hayley's idea after a bender at the Tequila Cowboy to say,
you know what, guys for jerseys in week four, let's
go dressed as the b girl off the blind melon
commercial or the video like, wh whose idea was that?
Oh man, yeah, those are the worst. Nothing resonates with
today's sports society like bringing up a music video from

(01:30:39):
twenty years ago. Very timely, timely stuff. Here M four
to see it. So, but you do acknowledge that that
you think the series is over between Toronto and Cleveland. Yeah,
I don't think that Toronto changes the narrative after what
I saw. I think that a game to Toronto last
I checked, was like a seven point favorite game to you,

(01:31:00):
Lebron didn't play well last night. I I look at it,
I and I get that, and I understand the way
that Cleveland turned it on late makes me think of wow,
they don't really have an answer and maybe Toronto can
learn from their mistakes at the end. And yeah, Toronto
actually had an opportunity to win multiple different times at
the end of regulation with those tippins, but couldn't get

(01:31:23):
it done. But what I see, Jonas is does Toronto
go to Cleveland and win a game? Yeah? I think
that they can, but I don't think it's any guarantee
that if it comes down to it, that whether the
stakes be closing out the calves or staying alive, that
Toronto can do that even at home. And those are
situations that you could face in a Game five or
Game seven in Toronto. And that's just the toughest part

(01:31:45):
about it. I wanted. I just don't think after what
we saw last night, I think that gets in their heads.
Dan Buyer Jonas knocks in for Doug Gottlieb here on
Fox Sports Radio. Won't let you know about True Car.
Car shopping can be confusing with terms like dealer, price, list, price,
and invoice. True car shows you what other people paid
for the car you want. See, you can recognize a
good price when you're ready to buy a new or

(01:32:05):
used car. Visit True Car to enjoy a more confident
car buying experience. UM. I know the John Ramo Show
is coming up about twenty minutes from now. Dan, have
you finally decided to follow John Ramo Show on Twitter?
After I figured out that it was at John Ramo Show,
not at the John Ramo Show that John continued to
tell me time and time and time again. Um, but

(01:32:30):
so again, it is John Ramo Show. If they want
to be a part of the hot new Twitter account. Yes,
I thought for one second, Jonas, I should delete it
and start over again. But at that point there was
too many followers already, so I figured just leave it alone.
Let it be at John Ramo Show. But what does
the top part mean? Then? If I put at the
John Romo that's where you would put, like the John
Ramo Show, that's where it should have been. Yeah, right,

(01:32:53):
I'll take the ad off. And by the way, if
when you do find at John Ramo Show on Twitter,
you'll notice at the profile picture he is shows and
is a pile of cocaine, which is which which I
I was a little disturbed by, But again I'm not
here to tell anybody how what's interesting is the cocaine
is on a script of his that you see in

(01:33:14):
Snorts Cocaine on his show. Script that'll be auctioned off
an hour four the show, I believe. Alright, So Dan
Buyer Jonas knocks in for Doug gottlie Piro on Fox
Sports Radio. Coming up next, we're going to find out
from an insider which which series right now could determine
next year's world champion. Find out what we're talking about

(01:33:34):
next on FSR. Wait for It, Wait for It, Wait
for It. There it is. It's a different song that
Doug does this too, but I just felt that there
was a build up. I'm Dan Buyer, that's Jonas Knocks,
he's John Ramos. We are in for Dug today. I

(01:33:56):
know Doug usually does it to the rage against the
Machine song. However, I could something building up. Oh is it?
Oh it's another one too. It's not my it's not
I don't know any other songs. So yeah, Gorilla Radio,
there it is right there. That's what I do. D
I was gonna defer to you on the music because
there was a lot of build up to that, right,

(01:34:17):
I mean, then it drops, then the beat drops. That
was good. But a lot of people don't do that.
They'll they'll just kind of jump all over the guitar
riff before it really really hits, you know, and and
you didn't and your professional. So there's another there's another
rage against the machine song that he does that I
know he does because I hear it, and I know
that that's really I don't know a lot of rage
against the machine songs, but if I at least hear

(01:34:39):
the voice, I know that that's who they are, but
that one there were no no voice anyway. This is
the Doug Gotlip Show on Fox Sports Radio. I'm Dan Buyer,
that's Jonas Knocks. He is John Ramo's NBA playoffs rolling
on with one game tonight. Cavaliers last night took a
one oh series lead on the Toronto Raptors, with the
Warriors up two games to none on the Pelicans in

(01:35:01):
a series that we just talked a little bit about earlier,
saying that the series is over and now you've got
you've got more of a Draymond Green against Charles Barkley
angle that could be maybe more interesting than what we
could get in Pelicans Warriors for the rest of the way. Yeah,
I wonder how that's gonna play out, because it's like
if they go to the finals and TN is TNT
going to be at the finals? Do they have the

(01:35:21):
rights to the finals or is it ESPN. I hope
it's t NT. ESPNS NBA coverage is off. Yeah, they
they'll have the the NBA Finals, but I don't know
what conference finals t NT. Yeah, because if if you've
got to do a couple of those in at Golden State,
I mean you would think that they would run into
each other, right, at some point they're gonna they're gonna
be around each other. And Draymond Green doesn't seem like

(01:35:42):
a guy who lets things go. He didn't seem like
a guy who just you know, you know who gets
technicals Dan West Finals on t Yeah. So, but they
are going to see each other. You know who, you
know who gets a lot of technical fouls, Dan, Guys
that can't let the original call go, and that's Draymond Green.
So I doubt he's gonna let an another guy on
television say he's gonna punch him in his face when

(01:36:04):
he sees him. I doubt he's gonna let that goes.
That would be interesting to see out place if you
missed it earlier last night on Inside of the NBA.
At halftime of the show on t n T halftime
of the Pelicans Warriors game, Rajon Rondo and Draymond Green
were exchanging words. Charles Barkley had this to say as
they were coming back from commercial breaks, showing that video clip.

(01:36:24):
Friendly chatter between Rajon Rondo and Draymond Green. That's what
you want to call it. I just want to punch
him in the face, I really do. I just don't
like him in the face. That was Charles Barkley. Draymond
Green heard about Barkley's response, didn't hear the actual clip

(01:36:47):
that we heard, but heard about the comments and had
this to say. If you feel that strongly about something,
he's seen me a million times. If he feel that
strongly about it, then pushed me in my face when
you see me. If you're not gonna push me in
my face when you see me, then shut up. It's
no differen Thce somebody sitting behind a computer screen tweet
I'll knock you out and you never see him in life. Well,
he's seen me a bunch of times, and he'll see
me again this year. Punched me in the face when

(01:37:09):
you see me, or I have not. No one cares
what you would have done. You old and it is
so you ain't gonna push me when you see me. There,
Stop talking about it. And to your point, they would
then see each other in the Western Conference finals. Yeah,
something will happen. That'll be it'll be good television again.
So I wonder how that's gonna go down. Um, here's
here's the one thing I would say though about Draymond

(01:37:31):
Green and Charles Barkley like like they were kind of
this Oh yeah, yeah, that's that's the point of like
Charles where I think he's coming from the player's perspective,
because I'm sure Rondo wanted to punch Draymond Green last night. Yeah,
I know, and Rondo, I mean, Ronald can handle himself,
and he was trying to set a tone and trying
to give a message that you know, we're a younger team,

(01:37:52):
but I'm sort of old school and this is the
way that I play. I mean, Rondo even did something
during the game that I thought was you would never see.
I don't think I've ever seen it before. You hear
these stories about the NFL where players do things to
get an advantage. Um, you'll hear stuff like a guy
will spit. A defensive lineman will spit on a center's
hand as he's getting ready to snap it so you

(01:38:14):
can't see it because you're not looking closely enough, but
he'll spit on a center's hand before he goes. You'll
see about stuff that's done in the pile, where guys
are are yanking and twisting and and and that's that's
I'm hurting thinking about that inside a pile when they're
going for a fumble. In the NFL some games, Rondo
in between free throws late in the game, fourth quarter.

(01:38:36):
I don't know if anybody else saw this. After the
first free throw attempt, and it may have been Draymond
Green who was attempting the free throws. He took the
ball and he rubbed the sweat off his face onto
the basketball and handed it back to him. Like that's
old school man, you know, like new players, you know,
like Ricky Rubio is probably not going to do that, right,
he wouldn't see, but Rondo will, He absolutely will. It's

(01:38:59):
the games with hip. It's funny. Tiger Woods would do
a lot of things that people wouldn't realize in it
once players became accustomed to it. But what Tiger Woods
would because Tiger Woods would have so many galleries following him,
he would always put out first, so like he would
tap in his short put instead of marking or let
somebody else go, because what would happen is the entire

(01:39:21):
gallery then rushed to the next holl because Tiger was done,
and while all the fans are moving and walking and
people are making noise. His other competitors would still have
to put well, you can't control hundreds of people who
are moving from the seventh green to the eighth e
But it was something Tiger would do. Tiger would also
start Do you think he knew he was doing it? Oh? Yeah, absolutely.

(01:39:42):
Tiger would also start walking. If let's you say they're
in a in a two sum on a Saturday or
Sunday and Tiger had honors on the tee, Tiger would
hit would then stand off to the side with the
next player, and as the player was in his downswing,
Tiger would start to walk. Now you can't really see it,
but maybe you could hear it or see something, but

(01:40:04):
he would start to walk down as the player and
it's to the naked eye. You wouldn't necessarily notice it.
But there are certain tricks that you would do for
gamesmanship wise, and they do it in golf football, and
as you saw last night in the NBA, there was
some gamesmanship here at Fox Sports Radio. Probably I want
to say a year and a half maybe two years ago.
You remember what it was. John Ramos was so tired

(01:40:28):
of other people using the microwave here that he cooked
his macaroni and cheese and set it for twenty two
minutes instead of two minutes. He added he added an
extra two when it wasn't necessary, and blew up the
microwave and almost burned the entire stuff. For the record,
it was ten minutes, right. It was supposed to be
a one minute easy. That is correct. It's supposed to

(01:40:48):
be one minute. The further we get away, the story
is gonna get em balanced a little. I uh uh, sorry,
there's sixteen minutes left on my mac and cheese. You're
gonna just have that. That's gamesmanship. He was tired of
a g still using the same microwave as him, so
he figured, you know, I'm gonna burn this whole thing down.
I'm burning this place down, Thank goodness, or John's microwave story,

(01:41:10):
because it tip the time the guy tried to put
tri tip into the toaster oven. Yeah, he tried to
put like old Tom who used to work here years back,
not a member of Fox Sports Radio, but put tri
tip in a toaster of it. Now, listen, everybody loves

(01:41:30):
a good tri tip. But all of the I mean,
it was it was a smoke. It wasn't macaroni and cheese.
But if this was the winter Olympics. It would have
been on the podium of the silver medal. That's that's
the case in burning your feet. That's too bad NASA
wasn't hiring and they could have used that genius whoever.
It was good, god man, amazing. It was yeah, great

(01:41:52):
stuff with with with the macaroni and cheese and tri
tip and and games. But it did get us a
new microwave. It did. John's point was good work, John.
We'll just just put it that way. Charles Barkley and
Draymond Green, that is probably going to be a story,
but Draymond Green needs to realize it. And there's another

(01:42:13):
like layer to this as well, jonas when the Warriors
were becoming the Warriors, I still think that they were
trying to earn their respect or there were teams and
people who didn't think that they were tough enough or
good enough. And I don't want to go back to
let's all, let's just bring this up again. But does
Draymond Green still need to do these types of things?

(01:42:33):
Does he still need to get there? And I know
Rondo and him may have the same personalities as well
as you mentioned, like him and Charles Barkley of of
being the same type of player for for what they
do on the court, and maybe try to mix certain
things up. But you just you just wonder is this
For a while it benefited the Warriors, and then in
the finals it backfired because Draymond being Draymond. I'm just

(01:42:57):
wondering if they need this anymore. If you've ever been
in whatever job you're at for a career, if you've
ever been fired or let go or or been in
a really bad spot, when you do get that opportunity,
you don't want to lose it for anything, and you
almost have an insecurity about it. And I say, I mean, listen,
I've been I've at a radio station, I work at
closed down. So that's why I work as much as

(01:43:20):
I can because I know what it's like not to
have it, and I am insecure to it, so I
have a paranoia. So that's why I try and work
as hard as I can because I don't want to
feel that feeling again, because it was an awful time
in my life. Draymond Green almost went undrafted. A lot
of people didn't think he was going to amount to
anything with the style of play that he plays with
this aggression. He needs this because there's always going to

(01:43:42):
be an insecurity there. There's always gonna It's the same
thing Tom Brady as I'm not putting them in the
same level, but it's the same thing. Tom Brady almost
went undrafted. I mean, he almost didn't get his chance,
and so I think in the back of his mind
he's always paranoid of am I gonna lose all this?
Because I know what that feeling is like to almost
lose it all, and I want to feel it again.
This is just who Draymond Green is gonna be for
his entire career. It's what makes him who he is.

(01:44:05):
I just I just wonder at some point if it's
going to cost them again. And so when I bring
up the question, I'm thinking, I think to myself, no,
he doesn't, It doesn't doesn't have to get to that level.
At some point, it just wears on you. And I
just think that it wears it may wear on the
other players having to deal with it. Maybe maybe I'm wrong,
maybe I'm completely off base. Maybe Clay Thompson and Steph

(01:44:26):
Curry and Kevin Durant and them don't care about it.
But I just think at some point, and you always
want guys sticking up for you. I get that when
you get to personalities like Rodo, like Draymond Green going
head to head, something like that's bound to happen, and
it's great TV for us to watch. But in the
grand scheme of things with Golden State, you know, if
he does this in a in a Rocket series with

(01:44:47):
someone who maybe isn't as important to Houston, but he's
much more important obviously to the Warriors than it could
come back. I just don't know. I thought that they
needed that edge early on when he was with the Warriors.
I don't know now that they're two champion championships in
in three years and maybe three and four that they
would need it anymore. Dan Buyer Jonas knocks in for
Doug Gottlieb here on Fox Sports Radio. Coming up next

(01:45:10):
year on fs ARE. This has probably been the most
talked about and previewed edition of The John Ramo Show

(01:46:56):
Ramo Show. It's the John Ramo Show, Ramo Show. This
is the John Romino Sports on Box Radio. Here's John Ramos.
He says exactly what Suzanne tells him to say. John, Yeah,

(01:47:20):
let's do this. Everybody go to eat everybody. We have
a great show for you tonight. It's a whatever Wednesday.
Makes you to always use a hashtag The John Romo Show.

care about being here whatever when your boyfriend asked you
do you love me? Kidding with a whatever? Also today

(01:47:42):
it's National Health Insurance Day. How exciting, Dan? What type
of health insurance do you have? What? As always, I
have my sidekick right here with me, Ryan let's start
with some baseball. Let's go John. Hey, look, everyone knows
I'm a Dodger fan, and they had a rough start
to the year. Also, did you see what happened to
Cody Balance your last night or the other night? Yeah,

(01:48:04):
I saw you got bench for not hustling. Yeah, that's right,
but I thought he got off pretty easy. Why is that? Well,
the last time I didn't hustle, Suzanne made me sleep
on the couch for a month. The Browns had the
best draft class in the history of the NFL, and
I'll prove it to you. Next on the John Romo Show,

(01:48:25):
it's Spider Man. I'm being incredible Hope from the Elastic
Superhero Collection. Yeah, this is the first affinity. By the way,
how much we stretch night, That's right, give it up

(01:48:46):
for I don't know how many people are cheering Kanye.
Today was turkind Is on Fired dam and I'm really
looking forward to her in depth interview later on. Also,
I have some big news here on the John Romo Show. Guys,
I'm starting a new late night digital show, so stick
around to find out more about that. But right now,
it's time to dive in on some of the biggest

(01:49:07):
topics in the world of sports, and I want to
bring in Dan and Jonas to help me out. Guys. Hey, great, John,
Thanks thanks for having us John. Alright, guys, let's get
started with the NBA playoffs. So go to the State.
Warriors are trash. They're completely overrated, and honestly, I don't
think they're going to get past the Pelicans. They won
last night. The Warriors, John, they're up in the series

(01:49:28):
and they look pretty good. Okay, I take that back.
Let's move on to something else. To the NBA. I've
been hearing people talk about this guy James Harden on
the rock because he's going to win the m v P.
Is this a joke or something? Even the NBA is
giving out participation participation trophies. Now, this is shocking. He
only led the league in scoring and uh Rockets are
the best record a lot of assists, like the most

(01:49:50):
in the league. Okay, okay, I take that back. All right,
let's talk some baseball. I love when the Royals are doing.
Right now, you want to talk about a stack team.
I look at that roster and I tell you, wow,
That's all I have to say. In Kansas City Royals
baseball and two eight games. Okay, I take that back.
I'll tell you why the Browns had a terrible draft

(01:50:11):
X on the John Romal Show. Bad for Christmas months
door called mad bulls. I got a much more. Do
you know what mad balls? They were like nerve? I believe,

(01:50:36):
yeah they were, but they had faces. Oh sorry, we're
back all right, and serve for Kanye West. Yeah, he
got a lot to say in our indeft energy. That's
going to be later on. Boy, it's gonna be really interesting.
Don't forget, don't There's still plenty of time for you
to vote on tonight's poll question, and of course make
sure to use the hashtag the John Rama Show and

(01:50:58):
coming up also later on my top forty four gifts
for Mother's Day is shocking. But now I have to
strike somebody out. Trade trading, trading old not a minute,
trading for a car blo atony in the off season?

(01:51:19):
Are doing this in a bathroom? Letting Russell Westbrook shoot
as many times that he wants in the playoffs. Losing
to the Jazz in the first round of the playoffs,
Paul George, you're outta here. That's all the time we
have for tonight. A big thanks to everyone who tweeted
and using the hashtag the John Rammels Show. Also thanks

(01:51:41):
to Kanye West for me take special musical guests. Sorry Kanye,
we'll have to get to your interview next time. And Ryan,
as always, I'll catch you on my backside, hurt Um.
Can we do a post show press conference because I
have a lot of questions. I have been many follow ups. First,

(01:52:02):
can we hear strike one again? All right? How did
you get the microphone inside the coffin for the voiceover
guy to do it? All right? A lot, that's a
lot of digg Yeah, that's a lot of digging. So
that was actually recorded from a by a corpse while
inside a coffin. Strike one? All right, I've got a

(01:52:22):
question John. Normally, when a picture throws a pitch, it's
after he throws the pitch that he says strike one.
Why did the um say strike one before the pitch
was even thrown or the take was even said in
this segment, so, for instance, we heard strike one and
then strike one came. Hey, that's just all part of

(01:52:44):
the John Ramo Show. By the way, in at John
Ramos Show hashtag the John Ramo Show. That is that
is not going to be confusing at all anymore. I
have that guy. That guy had bad chili. That guy
had bad chili, is what he can we find a

(01:53:04):
room with all aluminum walls. Where by the way, that
was a segment there where I struck out who I
think should be out struck straight one. Okay, now now
let me um, I have some follow ups, all right,

(01:53:27):
I have some alright. So your first tease was the
Brown's head yeats on that that sheet, the one that
you crumpled up, and one right there. The first tease
was what the first tease you did going it was
the Browns had the best draft class in the history
of the NFL, and I'll prove it next. The next

(01:53:47):
tease after the next bit was what I'll tell you
why the Browns had a terrible draft next on the
John Rommels Show. So you gave the opposite tease and
you never got to either tase. So we did get
audio from a Morgue. Oh man, that's good, great stuff

(01:54:12):
as well. And the John Ramos Show Twitter handle so
far has how many followers You're already up to sixty
eight sixty eight followers at John Ramos Show. That because
I couldn't. I found out what the problem was. I
tried to put the John Ramos Show, but only th

(01:54:33):
H would fit and the E wouldn't. So I just
made it at John Ramos Show. So that's why I tried.
It didn't work. Our good buddy Nick Alexander tweeted at
the John Ramos okay, who is an amateur voice actor? Yes,
so he may be getting some of your tweets as well. Um, now,
I now, how long before John gets a blue checkmark?

(01:54:56):
Because I know that, Dan, you have a blue checkmark, right,
You're right on Twitter. I am not. I am not.
I do not have one of those, and I don't
want one of those. So Twitter, you can take your
blue check mark and you could stick it. I don't
want to give it to somebody else. Give mine to
John Ramos. Okay, So I want John Ramos show to
have the blue check mark. By the way, before you go,
because we're running short on time. Hashtag the John Ramos

(01:55:17):
Show there is Can we hear how mad Johnny Damon
was before the show ends about losing and dancing with
the stars like he was. He was so mad he
was he would not let it go, which I love
the competitor in it. But boy he would not give
up that he still should be dancing right now. Uh,
Dan Buyer, Jonas Knox and for Dougui Leep here Fox

(01:55:38):
Sports Radier. Do you want to tell you we are
brought to you by True Car car shopping and be
confusing with terms like dealer, price, list, price, and invoice.

Up next year on Fox Sports Radio, there is one

(01:56:00):
fl GM alright one nfl GM has already proclaimed a
rookie as a potential starter. Find out who we're talking
about next on FSR. I'm Dan Buyer, That's Jonas Knox.
He's John Ramos. Loving the response from the John Ramo

(01:56:20):
Show Again. The new Twitter handle just developed today at
John Ramo Show. If you want to tweet John, you
can always tweet me at Dan Buyer on Fox Get
Jonas at the Jonas Knox and John's personal Twitter handle
is js Ramos zero six. Earlier on the show, we
had Johnny Damon on two time World Series champ, played
for a bunch of teams, most notably Royals, Red Sox
and Yankees. Right, you would say, yeah, okay, two time

(01:56:43):
World champ. As I mentioned, so he's got World Series
rings with the Yankees and and a ring with the Yankees,
in a ring with the Red Sox. So he's a winner.
He's a winner. But he lost in Dancing with the
Stars and we had him on earlier as he was
eliminated this week, one of the first contestants to be eliminated,
and let's just say Johnny Damon was not happy about it.
Was good to get getting me out there. I actually

(01:57:04):
thought we should have advanced. But you know, they're they're
trying to run a TV show. It's and it's a
great TV show, but there was so much more that
America and the world could have seen from me. But
you know they're the ones who losing out right now
because we had such a great dance for a week two.

(01:57:27):
There you go. I love it, dad sticking unto us.
Judges and people were tweeting saying, oh what a cry baby, man,
Look you what's to win? Man? These guys are ultra competitive.
If you're an athlete, your ultra competitive if you want
to win it everything you do. Who do you think
was more upset about being eliminated early, Johnny Damon off
Dancing with the Stars, or Mike Lingard, one of our

(01:57:49):
bosses here at Fox Sports Radio, who was trying to
defend his championship in the in the three point paperball
shootout and just gagged it away. He was terrible. At
least Johnny talked to us, because Mike didn't talk to us.
Then for the rest of the show never gave in
the studio again. Unbelievable. He was so bad. It looked

(01:58:09):
like Edward scissor Hands like he was so bad. He
was terrible. He stinks serving up some sour grapes the press.
Deb Carson as the latest of what's happening in the
world of sports. To let us know what's going on.

How you doing death? Hello, Jens. Speaking of gents, will
start with the Jets j g M. Mike mccagnet says

(01:58:35):
the team was thrilled and surprised at quarterback Sam Donald
was still available when they were on the clock with
the number three overall pick. He joined Fox Sports Radio's
Rich Eisen Show and says Donald will get a chance
to compete with the other quarterbacks on the roster, Josh
McCown and Teddy Bridgewater. We're gonna basically expose him everything.
We're gonna give the opportunity out there earn, learn and

(01:58:56):
earned the position. But of course we're, you know, our
focus not necessarily to throw him into the fire until
he's earned it. So it'll be interesting to see how
he turns out. Is he at the start at the
beginning of the season. What about beating up Christian Hackenburg. Yeah,
but by the way, this is what a radio neared
I am. You know what I noticed about those comments
from Mike mcagnen. Landline calling from a landline clear audio

(01:59:18):
is in a great spot. Yeah, I mean if meaning
being on a landline, Darnald, I mean with Josh m
Josh McCown, heck Tutor, Johnny Manzel. Johnny Manzel can't say
enough nice things about Josh McCown, Jeddy Bridger. Water's got
a questionable knee, if there's any question about it, I
don't know if he stays with the Jets. Donald's opportunity
to play right away is a lot better than maybe
people would be. I just don't know what's there, Like

(01:59:41):
who's he throwing too. There's not a lot of talent
on that as far as like receivers Robbie Anderson, Quincy
and noon One. Yeah, Jermaine. Robby Anderson was really good
last year and no one was hurt so he didn't play.
But Curse was pretty good as well, I mean better
than they were, all right, they were. I just I

(02:00:01):
feel like people this whole, this whole narrative that you know, man,
the Jets got a home run. The Browns may have
made a questionable pick here. Like if you were to
think of the other franchise outside of the Cleveland Browns
who have made poor decisions when drafting quarterbacks, who's the
team that comes to mind, The New York Jets. So
all of a sudden, now the Jets have all figured

(02:00:22):
it out because Donald was there. I just I don't
I'm not ready to buy that he's gonna have an
impact early on. He may get an opportunity to play,
but I don't know how well he's gonna play. I
think Josh McCowen is probably the better options still. Yeah,
you know, but he's gonna get hurt. He gets hurt
every year. So you know Sam Donald's going to be
brought in, sooner rather than later, you lot more of
an opportunity. All right, Well, the kickoff isn't going away
for the NFL season. Troy Vincent announced that earlier this week,

(02:00:45):
but they are still trying to make that play a
little less dangerous. There are some proposed changes. No running
start by cover teams, no wedge blocks by return squads.
There's also gonna be a fifteen yard non contact zone
from the spot of the kick, and of course, the
goal is to eliminate some of the violent collisions on
the back end of the play. Folks are describing the
coverage it's going to resemble more of a punt than

(02:01:06):
a traditional kickoff. Yea, the punt at least you've got
guys being blocked right away or could have somewhat of
their momentum slow, so it's not ten guys running right
at you. That's the biggest part that I think that
you'll have to do is have that blocking contact come
a little bit earlier. You know what the kickoff reminds
me of You ever seen the movie? Um, what's the

(02:01:28):
movie where the guy wants to quit his job, but
he refuses to uh, and he just decides office space. Yeah, alright,
so this is why it reminds me of that, you know,
the dude who they who? They moved down to the basement,
and then they just keep sort of eliminating a little
bit space here and a little bit of space there,
and all of a sudden there's boxes piled up on

(02:01:49):
his desk and they're just trying to slowly phase him
out with that having to actually fire him. That's what
they're doing to the kickoff. Okay, well listen, I'm uh yeah, Milton,
that's what they're doing to the kickoff. They're slowly covering
things up and remove it. Why do you just get
rid of it? Like I'm tired of the updates to
the kickoff this world, just go ahead and get rid
of it. It's I mean, it's wasting everybody's time, all right. Well,

(02:02:11):
Moving over the NBA to find a disappointing finish to
the season, the Thunders GM Sam Press. He says head
coach Billy Donovan will be back next season, citing mostly
the importance of continuity. They've already got a deal with
Paul George being an unrestricted free agent and Carmelo Anthony
with a twenty eight million dollar option for next season,
voicing a his sire to play a different role. I

(02:02:33):
know Billy Donovan gets a lot of flak, but I
have no idea how to coach that team. Yeah, I
have zero idea. I don't know Russ don't shoot as much.
What Carmelo play him deep? What do you? I have
no idea how you'd coach that team. Yeah, it's a
although I don't blame Carmelo. Anthony's got a shell, a
short shelf life in the NBA. That guy wants to
play on him. Get the press. By the way, do

(02:02:57):
you know what dios mio stands for you? Of means?
In English? No? I don't. It means Jeffrey Gorman nuts.
That's odd.
