Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Booming Up America, Doug Gottlieb Show,
Fox Sports Radio, hours away from Game one of the
NBA Finals, six hours. In fact, we only have a
three hour show. I could do all six. I could
take your phone calls. I think I will take some

(00:21):
of your predictions, what you think is gonna happen, what
you're looking forward to, and maybe most importantly, this conversation
which seems to have popped up, which is, uh if
if if Golden State wins and Cleveland loses, could it
in any way be Lebron James's fault? Will it change

(00:42):
how you look at Lebron James? Because I feel like
Lebron has already won without playing. They are prohibitive underdogs.
I don't know what the what the difference between underdog
and prohibitive underdog is, but I do know when you're
a bigger underdog than any heading into the NBA Finals

(01:03):
in sixteen years, that would be a prohibitive underdog by
most definitions. And so I've heard this, Hey, Lebron's got
nothing to lose, nothing to lose, cool, And with all
of that equity, he is using some of it. He

(01:24):
is spending some of it. He had an interview with
Rachel Nichols, and it's not necessarily what he said or
what he did, but it's what he didn't say and
didn't do. Look, Lebron's gonna get a pass because we've
created this false narrative. Here's the false narrative. The false

(01:48):
narrative was last year the Golden State Warriors were the
greatest team ever and they added Kevin Durant. They were
not the greatest team ever. They won seventy three regular
season games, which was the most wins ever. They did
not win an NBA championship, and they had to shed

(02:09):
a good portion of that roster in order to acquire
Kevin Durant. That's not winning seventy three games and adding
Kevin Durant. That's winning seventy three games, not winning a championship,
reformulating yourselves while adding Kevin Durant. That that's different. Last
year's team didn't win seventy three games and sweep you

(02:32):
know the other way through. Everybody almost did. Lost two
playoff games, won the finals, one in the U during
the course of the playoffs. But because of that, Lebron
gotta pass. Last year, Hey, Golden state just better? Are
Doug just better? They're just better? And then you take

(02:52):
Kyrie off the team and the first trade doesn't work,
and now it's night and Day better, which which may
well be accurate. My biggest issue with Lebron is not
over his talent, which is immens It's not over his
evolution as a player from a guy who was a
facilitator to one who's become more comfortable being in alpha

(03:15):
at the end of games. My biggest issue is with
all this acclaim comes to zero accountability. The only thing
we hold Lebron response before is the collapse in Dallas, which, oh,
by the way, I don't hold him as response before
as most everybody else does. Remember when they lost a

(03:39):
Dallas six games? Do you know their starting point guard
was first five games, Mike Bibbie? You know, I mean
minutes he played in game six zero, never took off
his sweats. You know why he was so bad in
games one through five. I would say, true, Lebron James
failed during that moment. Then Lebron James, especially later on

(04:04):
the series, put too much pressure on himself and did
not come through in the clutch. But if you remember
early on in that series, they they gave up two
different times lay ups to Dirk Navitsky layups on game
winning baskets, like, look, if you if a guy hits
a game winning three with a hand in his face,
what are you gonna do? But a layup to a

(04:27):
seven footer is not exactly fleet of foot, come on now,
So I don't hold him as responsible. I thought there
were errors by Rik Spoelstra. I thought their errors by Lebron,
but I thought there were also the fact that Mike
Bibby was washed at that point in his career, and
you can't play four on five, especially from the when

(04:49):
you're going against a Hall of Famer and Jason Kidd
and you have a guy that you can't play in
game six. Additionally, yeah, they dominated the Oklahoma City Thunder
when he finally won a championship. But that was a
Thunder team that frankly shouldn't have been there yet and
was way ahead of its time, way ahead of we

(05:11):
have had of their normal growth chart. And what happens
when you have an upset the next round, Oftentimes that
gets exposed. We've seen that this year in the plass
C and then a tournament all the time, and then
they split with the with the San Antonio's first that's
the reality of it. His first loss to the Golden
State Warriors. It wasn't a fair fight. I actually thought

(05:33):
that was his greatest series ever. Lebron James without Kevin Love,
without Kyrie Irving forcing six games, that was incredible and
of course coming down for from three games to one
in a year two. Did they get a little help
when Draymond got suspended, yep? Did Andrew Bogan getting hurt

(05:55):
help them, yep? But he carried the team along with
Kyrie Irving two man offensive punch, which was phenomenal. He
had the big block, Kyrie had the big bucket, and
they wanted to get in in Game seven. I think
I feel like I'm the only totally reasonable person out here,
including Lebron James, because we did get new information that

(06:21):
he did call the Calves front office when they decided
to make the Kyrie Irving trade. Take a listen, the
odds has not been with us all season, you know,
even if you start back to the summertime, when I
felt like it was just bad for our franchise to
be able to just to trade away our our superstar
point guard. Obviously, I wasn't part of the communications and

(06:43):
know what exactly went on between the two sides, but
I just felt like it was just it was bad
time and for and for our team to just get
rid of our our our point guard, you know, and
Kyrie Irving. So you know, I felt like the odds
was against us, you know, from from the summer. Okay, wait, wait,
so you called the front office. You said you didn't

(07:03):
want this trade to happen. You were unaware of the
conversations that took place between Kyrie's camp and the front office. Okay,
it's not what was said there. Nothing he said was wrong.
It was a bad idea and bad timing to trade
away Kyrie Irving, especially at that time in the trade
they got was suboptimal. Why didn't you call Kyrie? Right?

(07:31):
There's there's never any There's never a moment to which Lebron,
who knowingly, will willingly has signed these short term contracts
to put pressure on whoever he's playing for, in this case,
the Cleveland Cavaliers, to continue to work tirelessly to win
and win now because you don't. Tomorrow is never promised,

(07:52):
not just in reality, but also in the alternate reality
of Lebron James world, I'm not promising you anything. Show
me you want to put a championship team around me.
The problem with that is that even when Kyrie decides
they want out, and he knows they're going to trade Kyrie,
he did not recommit to Cleveland and oh yeah, by

(08:16):
the way, why didn't you call Kyrie? Irvy. It doesn't
mean it would have changed the course of history, but
it would have gone a long way if if if
I heard from Lebron James. I called Kyrie. I wanted
to work it out. I went to his house. We

(08:37):
tried to talk it out and it just couldn't be done.
And they decided to make a trade. And I said, please,
don't make this trade. We can work it out. And
they did it. Anyway, that's different the I don't know
what's going on. They decided to make this trade, and
I called him and said, don't do it. What your
Lebron James, you are the chosen one, you are the king.

(09:05):
So this idea that it's never it's never his fault
except for Dallas, which I don't think was that much
his fault. It's never his fault that was fault. This
is imagine this. Imagine you've been together a couple of

(09:27):
years with your wife and you guys get separated and
you're gonna get a divorce, and the papers are gonna
get signed, right, and you call at the last second,
you call your lawyer and say, you know, I just
don't feel it. I just don't want to sign the papers.
I just don't think we should go through with it.

(09:48):
Do you know who else? You should call? Your wife? Right?
Because then if you say, look, we talked it out
and we decided we're gonna give it one more go,
We're gonn to try one more time, and when we've
exhausted all possible situation, with all possible scenarios, we've gone
to therapy. If then you go like, you know what,

(10:12):
it's not gonna work, split up the stuff, let's move on.
Lebron essentially said, man, I really don't want to get
a divorce, but you're gonna get a divorce, okay, And
then six months later like that wasn't my idea. I
don't know why I signed those papers. I told the

(10:33):
lawyer it wasn't a good time to do it. I
didn't want to do it. I didn't think it put
us in the best situation with the kids at getting
ready to start to school year. It just it would
give us a tough year. It's it's totally fair to
blame Kyrie Irving, right, it's fair to blame Dan Gilbert,

(10:55):
but you also have to blame at least a portion
of it on Lebron James. Even when he talks about
his relationship with Dan Gilbert, take a listen. Our relationship
has always been a working relationship for me personally. I've
always tried to do um you know, since I come
back to this franchise, to try to put this franchise
at a level that is always seen a positive light.

(11:18):
When you see the Calves logo, I want you to
think as a very prestiged and you know, a great organization. Okay,
it's a business relationship. And of course Lebron James uh
loves the credo of The Godfather. That's his favorite movie.
It's not personal, it's just business. It's not personal, it's

(11:39):
just business. It's not personal. It's strictly business. Right, that's
what he lives by. But he he also again, if
if this this idea, that this here's what we'll do, Okay,
Matt Moore is going to join us up coming next.
Excuse me, Zack Harper's gonna joins Zack Harper is gonna
join us up coming next talented ride really funny on Twitter.

(12:02):
I don't know if he's this funny, if he's just
on ambient all the time. Um, but I'm gonna ask
ask him. Aren't we overdoing this whole idea that Lebron
and Dan Gilbert have to be buddy buddy? Aren't we? Plus?

(12:23):

podcast back to back. He's also a great follow on Twitter.
Um have you ever tweeted on ambient? Uh? No, I've
never taken ambient, but I my my brain works in

(15:17):
a way where I don't. I don't know that amping
would actually affect me. I think I tweet the same
no matter what I'm teasing, of course. Okay, at at
first glance, do you think this will be a good series?
I think it will be an entertaining series. That's a
that's a political way of getting around that. I think entertaining,
but had a good competitive I don't. I'm not why not?

(15:37):
Why wouldn't be competitive? Um? I think that. I mean,
there's just too much firepower. Like you look at the
disparity between these two teams last year, and now you've
essentially replaced Kyrie Irving with George Hill, and George Hill
doesn't seem to be interested in taking any shots in games,
or at least games on the road. And then Kevin
Love is not really playable in in this matchup. They

(16:00):
don't seem to have another initiator other than Lebron So
I think that you're just gonna see the Calves try
to muck things up and get it slow and replicate
the model and hope something goes their way. Why isn't
Kevin Love playable in this matchup? Uh? Well, once they
added Kevin Durant. I mean they got torched on the
court in the finals last year when Kevin Love was

(16:20):
on the floor. I think they I think the the
Calves are like minus thirteen point minus thirteen points for
one d possessions with Love on the on the floor.
And it's just because his firepower is nice and they
neat his scoring. But the Warriors are just hunting him
out on so many actions, whether it's involving Durant and
whether it's folowing Draymond Green or any kind of pick
and roll with Steph and and I just think that defensively,

(16:41):
they just can't survive with Love on the floor. The
the the issue I would have with that analysis, while
obviously backed by hard stats that are inarguable, is Draymond
can't make a shot. I mean can't, doesn't want to shoot,
can't make a shot. You you could easily and then
remember with Iguadala, who's not gonna play. The best scenario

(17:04):
is I guess Livingstone, who doesn't take any threes like
Kevin Love, can sit in the lane, can be a
help man. He does not have to be a defender
on the basketball. He doesn't have to be. But I
think the Warriors will find actions that make him forced
to defend more than than you would normally do. Now,
I do think I put this in a in a
preview for fan Rack, where you I think you, if

(17:24):
you're the Calves, you turn Draymond Green into Tony Allen,
right like with the Warriors did with Tony Allen in
they essentially put Andrew Bogan on him and said, hey,
Tony Allen can go do what do whatever he wants
from the priver, go ahead. You can do that to
Draymond Green because I think he has a shoulder injury
that's really affected his shot. The problem with that, though,
is Draymond Green will go make plays. He will attack
the basket in a way that's competent. He will go

(17:46):
set screens, he will go find the cysts and and
and force whoever is on him to eventually defend. That's
just something I don't think the Calves can overcome. So
why would it be entertaining if they can't use Kevin
Love and they won't have the firepower to keep to
keep up with the Warriors because Lebron is gonna put
on a show, Steph's gonna put on a show. Kevin
Durant's gonna put on a show. Clay Thompson's gonna have

(18:07):
one of those crazy hats or quarters that that just
lights up the you know, the arena. And Draymond. Raymond
is always entertaining, even if he can't shoot the Draymond
yelling at people and you know, attacking parts of the
body is not supposed to. There's enough showmanship in this
series that it will be entertaining. What was your take
on Lebronze interview with Rachel Nichols. Uh, you know, it's

(18:28):
there's not a lot that surprises him. With lebron and
what he says at this point, there's not a lot
that I necessarily take away. I think I think he's
very smart in the way he approaches his career and
the way he approaches his legacy, and the way he
approaches the conversation around him. He's aware of everything that's said,
He's aware of everything that's that's really measured against him,
both you know, currently and historically. I you know, with

(18:49):
lebron it's it's kind of any anything he says right now,
nothing really surprises me. Yeah, I mean, I look, I
think it's it's weird. I think people a too much
of the blame for the Dallas series on Lebron. On
the other hand, Ever, since then, nothing's ever his fault.
And so when I when I when I heard him say,
you know, look, I call it management, I was like, man, well,

(19:11):
you shouldn't trade Kyrie right now? Why did you call
Kyrie irving? Right? That's that's I mean, that seems like
an easy thing to you know. It's it's funny because
the Lebron has always been the de facto GM and
de facto coach, and like he runs the organization right like,
no matter what he's a part of since coming back Cleveland,
he runs it no matter what, you know, no matter
David Griffin or David Blatt or ty Lou or Kobe Allman,

(19:34):
no matter who's involved. We all just assumed that Lebron
has his sway in the influence, and then you get
these moments where it seems like he doesn't, and then
you wonder why, like why do we have this narrative
about him and then he doesn't influence in that way
that seems like a very fixable situation. It's possible Kyrie
would have said, no, I'm good, I just want to
get out and get on my own. It's still possible.
But yeah, the decision making with that stuff, it does,

(19:57):
it does come to a point where it's a little
head scratching, and I it makes me wonder if the
revisionist history is happening or if that's actually what happens. Okay,
So when you hear it, and then you hear him
say business relationship with the owner with Dan Gilbert, and
when when Rachel doubles down and says, how will that
affect that relationship effect free agency? He says, we'll see

(20:19):
pars those words. What do you think it all means? Oh,
he hates Dan Gilbert. He hates everything about it. Like
this is about Cleveland and Lebron and his attachment to
the city. None of this ever had anything to do
with Dan Gilbert. He decided to put that letter aside
and and go back and do this for his legacy
to this, you know, Northeast Ohio, like all that crap.

(20:39):
He decided to do it for all that. Dan Gilbert
was just a hurdle in the way that he decided
to clear and he like he wants nothing to do
with him. I do think there is something funny in
the idea that Lebron may look at the view of,
you know, the landscape of the league decide like, maybe
story he's not ready for me, Maybe that Houston thing
is not gonna work. Maybe I don't want to go
to the Lakers and just decided to re with the

(21:00):
Cavs for another year and take pride in the fact
that he gets the whole over the franchise hostage for
one more year, because there is a very you know,
Lebron is all about that power dynamic with athletes, with
black athletes, with black men, you know, dealing in this world,
and and having that power being able to hold an
NBA franchise hostage for one more year. There's got to

(21:20):
be some joy in that for him. Yeah, I mean again,
the problem there in lies though, the problem with Lebron
is there is no accountability. Hey, dude, be a lot
easier for us to to trade for Paul George had
you said you you're gonna stay, right, it would be
a lot easier for us to to move pieces around,
or to get free agents or to make trade if

(21:40):
you just said you're gonna stay. So I understand. And
then there's the other part to it, which is okay,
if if we would both agree that he likes having
some power, he has to go to a place to
which he'd be given some of that power, right, And
and I don't know where that landing spot is. Philadelphia
now actually get thrown into the mix because I don't

(22:02):
think Brian Colangelo keeps his job. Um, I'm I'm interested
in in in l A because I don't feel like
though roblinkl and Magic Johnson may try and empower you
and make you feel like you're empowered, I don't think
they're actually going to hand over the reins to to
Lebron James. Definitely not happened in San Antonio. That's why

(22:22):
anybody who ever thought san Antonio no shot, he goes
there Houston. I don't know what do you think if
what is the best possible place for him to be
able to compete but also retain power. I mean, Houston
is interesting because, like Grant, they have to do some
work to kind of cut out those contracts and Chris
Paul has to take a discount, but it is still

(22:42):
a very workable situation. And having that five, I mean,
he knows what he needs. He needs firepower, and he
needs some control, and he would have that in Houston, Like, yeah,
it's all about Darrel More in his vision. Do you
think Daryl More is not gonna say like, yeah, Lebon,
you can get it on these meetings and and and
have some say on this stuff. If if you come
to something like Darryl Morris just trying to build something
to compete with the Warriors right or now at this

(23:05):
point to overtake the Warriors. So I think that there's
a lot of workable stuff within that that situation. It's
just is that going to be the right mix? Does
he actually want to play with Chris Paul? Like I
kind of look at it as the whole Great Popovitch appreciation, right,
we know that Great Popvitch and Lebron appreciate each other,
respect each other, love each other on a basketball level,

(23:25):
Like we know all that it would never work between
the two of them because I don't think Lebron wants
to be coached the way Pop wants to coach him,
and Pop's not, like you said, Pop's not getting any
of that power, right, So I think the idea of
it is a lot better than what the application would be.
The same with Chris Paul, like he's really good friends
with Chris Paul, and Chris Paul, you know, would probably
take a back seat on some level and give up

(23:46):
some of that control so Lebron come in. But does
that actually work from a personality standpoint? I think the
idea is a lot better than maybe the reality. Great stuff,
as always from the one and only Zach Harper. He

(24:06):
and you'll be and you'll be brought to thought. Um.
Your prediction for the series, I hate doing this. Your
prediction for the series is and don't say pain not
saying Warriors win first three, Chas win Game four. Warriors
closed down, so they don't. They don't lay down down
three not three. Usually if you're gonna win one, you
think it'd be would be game three, not Game four.
That's that's fascinating, all right, Yeah, just because I think

(24:29):
the Warriors will have that game where those is like,
do we really want to win? Yeah? I think they will.
Care I agree, there will be one at least one
of those. That That's why I think I think we
got a chance to have a little bit more competitive
series than than you're thinking. But we'll see, we'll see
how it plays out, Zach, great stuff. Thanks for joining us.

(26:34):
If you're on social media, so if you're not, if
you if you don't have other work to do. I'd
love I love your list, guys. And once you start
compiling a list and feel free eight seven seven six
six three six nine, it's eight seven seven fox. Have
you seen this? Like compile list on on Twitter over
your favorite player from each sport from your lifetime? Have

(26:58):
you guys seen this list? Yes? Okay, so uh ramos,
I know you're you're on social media? Have you have
you seen this? I have not. And when you say
your lifetime meaning like when you were from when you
were born, all time favorite player, NBA, NFL, since you've
been okay, got it all time? You can pick whatever
you want. I mean there's no context to it. Like
you now you can do whatever NBA, NFL, college football,

(27:22):
college basketball, Major League Baseball, NHL, boxing and wrestling. Now
here's my one. I have a couple of issues with it.
First one is when you say wrestling. I don't think
of w w E as a sport. Okay, I'm not
gonna sit here and say I never watched it as
a kid. Rowdy Roddy Piper. And look, if I'm gonna
go WWF, I'm gonna say Junkyard Dog j Y d

(27:46):
I love Junkyard Dog, but I think of wrestling, I
think of Kenny Monday. I think of of grappling, So
that would be my one. But byer, have you tweeted
out your list yet? No? I haven't even made the
list yet, So do it. Yeah, I'm typing in favorite
NBA player all times? Who? Um Jim Jackson? Really? Yeah? Yes,

(28:09):
I love Jim. He's a friend, he's on the show.
He's been my favorite just college basketball player. Yeah, there
is no one. But you wouldn't say he was your
favorite college because he was a great college player. He wasn't.
I was a die hard I I have a picture
and Jim knows this because years back when we had
him on the network, Um, it was revealed to him
how much of a fan I was. But my senior
picture I have like a newspaper holding up you know,

(28:32):
like one of those set up shots where when Jim
announced that he was leaving Ohio State and so I
purposely like put like the Ohio State because I subscribed
to an Ohio State newspaper. But anyway, die hard fan
all the way through. So yeah, that's who it was.
Um nfl um. Probably Brian Blade's Shaw wide receiver. Yes,

(28:55):
you did not go Steve Largent. It's interesting. Yeah, he
also did not go the other Kurt Warner. He think
of Kurt Warner. If you're a Seahawk fan, you remember
Kurt Warner the running back, not Kurt Warner the the
Arizona Cardinals or l a uh St Louis Rams quarterback.
All Right, so NHL. I wasn't a big NHL fan,

(29:16):
but I did like the Nordics and Avalanche for a
little while. So I'd probably say Joe Sakic'll probably be
very nice college football. Um, probably Joey Galloway, you know,
have stayed all the time. Um college basketball. Jim Jackson, Yeah,
I was, but it was I can't even I can't

(29:38):
even cheat him. Lie, No, I I get the Jim
jacks Jim jack You like Jim Jackson. My thing that
the Jim Jackson is he's your favorite NBA player, which
that's more studying college player. He was great. Well, I
just followed him through that. That was the okay. I
would if I had to split, I would only say,
I'd say Jim Jackson for college, and then I would

(29:59):
say like Clyde Drexler for MBA by the glide Clyde
the glade all right. And then uh, golf, Oh gosh,
this is a this is a tough one. I was
like Justin Leonard okay. And then wrestling, Uh, probably I
like the Rockers, So maybe like Shawn Michaels. You know,

(30:22):
I have no idea who that Humanay, just you're just
saying names. Now those could be names of plumbers. I
don't actually know. As when I was a real kid,
I didn't. I wasn't big into the heartbreak kid when
I was older. But for w W, that's what it
would be. Once you went through puberty you discovered it's fake.
Thank you Dan. All right, Dan will be posting his
on social media. Ramos, you want to? You want to?
You want to take a shot at this favorite NBA

(30:45):
player all time? You didn't have to. I got it.
I kN know who Magic could stay, I got Copper,
got it? Um NFL Eric Dickison okay? Uh? Major League Baseball? Uh,
Fernando Valence, Will Fernando Romania. Huh. How about how when

(31:08):
he was in his wind up he would look the
other way. He looks straight up into the sky. I
mean it was really amazing. What if you lived through Fernandomania.
I mean yeah, I mean he was, he was. He
was unbelievable. Okay, so we got to college football. College football.
I liked, um, Paul McDonald. I like the USC growing up,
and like Paul McDonald who was a quarterback at USC

(31:30):
during those kind of hey days with Charles White and all. Then. Okay, uh,
college basketball, Reggie Miller, Reggie Miller U c l A.
The only one to term at one time I was.
I was a ball boy at times during the was
really close to the Hazards play basketball to the Hazards,
Uh Juliel and to too Hazard where my boys was

(31:50):
Paul boy. Okay, um, what did I miss here? Hockey, well,
I liked I like the Kings in the nineties, yes right, yeah,
but I like to row up a time. Okay, I'm
okay with that. There's literally the only hockey team, ninety
three Kings, the only hockey team that I know anything about. Okay. Golf,
see's I don't know. I guess Tom Watson. I like

(32:11):
Tom Watson because he was all you know. By the way,
it's okay to say Tiger like I'm in a tweet.
Tiger is my favorite golfer. That's like. That's like saying,
you know what, I like McDonald's fries. Sorry, well, you
know believe I still like bc donald fries. Sue me, Fine,
that's what I like. You know. I like Coca Cola
growing up? Yeah, I did, like you. You have to
he doesn't have to be something obscure, the guy who

(32:33):
always never mentions the actual best people during that time. Yeah,
there's always that guy. There's always that guy wrestling. I
I have to be honest with you. I turned away
from wrestling, I understand, but at some point there wasn't
you turned away, but at some point you were turned
on or turned towards. I guess Hulk Hogan because he
was in the Rocky movie, and that's I kind of

(32:54):
figured here. Oh wait, there's one more I forgot. Is
Buyer still available? Like it? Bier boxing? Oh? Buster Douglas
really not Mike Tyson just I wasn't a big boxing
I just remember when he won and I got a
Buster Douglas T shirt. So if you had that T shirt,
you gotta wear it tomorrow. It was like, what about

(33:17):
you mind? Sugary Leonard? Sugar Ray Leonard looks good? All right, Um,
your turn there Ryan Music NBA, Kobe Bryant NFL, Carson Palmer,
He's going also call of the Time. College football, Reggie
bush Uh college basketball. This one's kind of random. I

(33:38):
didn't really have a college basketball team that I really followed,
but I loved watching Adam Morrison. Adam Morrison AMMO a
friend of mine. Good, kind of different, very interesting dude
who I believe listens to us daily in the in
the pack Northwest, living outside of Spokane. Major League Baseball
Mike Trout n HL. Never really watched hockey. The only

(33:59):
one I could think of is like Jonathan Quick when
the King's Yeah, yeah, it was the gold golden, golden right. Okay. Boxing,
I couldn't even tell you. I don't even I mean,
all I've ever known is like Floyd Mayweather, and I
don't like him. Okay, So I mean, you go triple G.
But if you ever watched a triple G fight maybe once? Okay,
I feel but I honestly feel bad, Like there's so

(34:21):
many things that your generation missed out on. You missed
out when boxing, when heavyweight champions were awesome. Yeah, we're
big thing, Hearns Hagler, Reberto Duran. I know they were
not heavyweights. Those were still great fights as well. No
Moss fight, but having a great heavyweight champion used to
be used to be really cool. Uh. And wrestling oh
the rock, Yeah, definitely, very nicely done. All right, I'll

(34:42):
give you my list plus who's the most who's the
most the important player in the NBA finals? Okay, given
my list of cars. By the way, are not like
are a lot like sports. I keep screwing this first
sentence up, I gotta apologize to the folks of autistone.
Cars are a lot like sports. You gotta have the
right tools you want to go far. Luckily, auto Zone

(35:03):
as a free loaner tool program with over a hundred
specially tools to get the job done right, So stopping
today deposits required getting the zone auto Zone. By the way,
if you have your list, I'm not gonna go through
it like if you start aye and and explaining. I
might actually explain one guy on it. But have your
list eight seven seven six three six nine. That's eight

(35:24):
seven seven nine on Fox or fire to us at
Gottlieb Show at Gottlieb Shows the Twitter handle. You can
also hit at Dan Byron Fox at j ramos Oh
six or at Music Reports. At Music Reports, we'll put
our Twitter handles out there. Give us your list of
your favorites all time, plus who's the most important player

(35:44):
in the finals. I'll tell you next. Car shopping can

invoice price. True Car shows what other people paid for

Doug Gotlip Show Fox Sports Ready, we'll take a couple

(36:05):
of your calls on your lists upcoming. I will debut mine.
I think I'll do it next hours. I'm still working.
It's some tough calls on this one. Burger Jordan's that's
a hard one. Burger Jordan is a is a hard
one for me. Um. I have a fake wrestling and
a real wrestling as well. It's a very important distinction.
The road ahead is bound to take some unexpected turns.

(36:27):
Farmers Insurance can help you understand your cover. Jopsons with
our practical knowledge game more than ninety years of experience,
we know a thing or two because we've seen a
thing or two find ancient farmers dot com. Let me
work one in real quick. Give me Scott in Florida. Scott,
what's who's your list? Uh? NBA all time favorite? NBA
gotta gotta go with Jordan's NFL. And for Dixon, who'd

(36:52):
you say? I'm sorry? Who hand Ham? For Dixons? For
the Browns? Okay? I have no idea who that human
being is? Major? How old are you? I'm a forty nine?
D um. He was a part of he was part
of the dogtown. He was I just remember Webster Slaughter
and who was the other wide receiver? And they used
to jump up do chest bumps? Two little diminutive wide
receivers anyway? Um, Major League Baseball, Don Mattingly done? Donnie

(37:16):
Baseball Baseball, NHL. Weirdly, it's not Mark Messier my Rangers,
but it will be. Uh. Patrick Patrick Leach, Patrick Leach,
al right. W Waite would be another potential answer there
for you. Um college football Gator? What do you do?
Did win two national championships? And of course he gave

(37:38):
the greatest most overrated speech of all time college basketball? Uh?
That would be Uh, George Lynch of the Tar Hills.
I can't say Jordan twice. I'm gonna go George Lynch
because he just did everything that goes. I know, I know,
but you're a Gator and you didn't pick anybody in
the back to back teams. You know you you couldn't. Okay,
Um wrestling, breath the Hitman heart nice old school golf?

(38:00):
Uh Phil Nicholson? Did I do boxing with you? Boxing?
Marvin Marvelous Marvin hagl marvel is my great nickname. All right,
thanks for the call. I appreciate your listenings. That's Scott
in Florida, right, continue to give us your list. This
is game tied on the Doug Gottlieb Show. All right,

(38:20):
what do you got for me? Dan? Buy dog today?
We've got rank up. By the way, did we leave
out tennis? Was that purposely? Was there a reason we
do not? I don't know we should do. Who's your
favorite tennis player? Stefan Edinburgh, Edinburgh. That's a good one.
He was. He's one of those guys that was awesome,
but nobody ever mentions as be awesome. Yes, correct, Okay? Cool?
The game is rank them, rank ranked the most important

(38:42):
players in the NBA Finals one through five. You want
five being number one is the most important, Okay, I
mean Lebron will be number one most important. Um, I'll
put Durant too. I will give you Stephis three, I
will give you Kevin Love is four, and I would
give you Draymond is five. But in truth, if I

(39:05):
did most important, like, I kind of think you need
Draymond to play I need you need Draymond to play
well or Kevin Love to play well in order for
anything else to happen. You know, I might kind of
circle background to that. But as of now, where do
you think that this calvs. Warriors Finals will end up
ranking amongst the other three? Okay? So I think, um,

(39:27):
in terms of what what's the give me content? Was
it a great finals? Okay? So the one two years ago?
Was that? Two? When when when the Calves sixteen is
gonna be number one because of seven games and because
both teams were at full strength? Right? Okay? I would
say that last year was was dominant, but because it

(39:49):
was Durant, he was the m v P. For me.
He outplayed I mean statistically completely outplayed Lebron in the
fourth quarter of I think four of those five games.
I'll do twenty seven tenus too. I'll do twenty. This
will be between third and fourth. Right now, I'll put
is three and as four unless you see Lebron force

(40:11):
five or six games, to which it could move up
in terms of importance. All right, Doug. French Open going
on right now, ranks the best Grand Slam events in tennis,
the best. Yeah, Wimbledon, US Open, French or a US
opens one? Yeah, US opens one. Uh, Wimbledon to French three,

(40:31):
Auese four, just the awesome. Even though I like hard
courts better, I like I like that that clay courts
give a different style and time of year. Australian opens
too early. It conflicts with too many sports. It's on
at night. We don't when we're sleeping, we don't pay
attention to us. I'm gonna I'm gonna need you for

(40:53):
next hour because your last list that you wanted was
a really really good one and it deals with Bill
bell Check being caught in a Chick fil A drive through. Right, Yes, yes,
we got a lot. We'll continue to compile your list
of your favorite all times in all sports. Plus, you
need a better resume before you question greatness. I'll explain

(41:16):
that next The Doug Gotlip Show Fox Sports Radio. What
up Stug Gotlieb Show? Fox Sports Radio. M m m
m m m m m m m m m m
m m m m m m um. I might have

(41:39):
made another typo on my list at NFL for regret Skey,
but everybody knows what I'm talking about with Wayne Gratzsky
doesn't matter. Sorry. And when I typed rowdy Roddy Piper,
my phone auto corrected it to Rowdy Rodney Piper. We
fixed that as well. So here's my list, Doug otlip Show,
Fox Sports Radier. This is something that's a been training

(42:00):
on Twitter for a couple of days. Here where you
do your favorites, your all time favorites, and I'm I'm
torn on this um all time favorites NBA. Look, Jordan's
my the best player I've ever seen a man. I
love watching Larry Bird and one of my favorite movies.
They used to have these NBA Superstars movies and there
was all these stories about Larry Bird. Plus I read

(42:21):
Larry Bird book. Uh, you know dad committed suicide. Larry
Joe Bird all time favorite NBA player NFL. This one
was hard because Barry Sanders was like a video game.
But man, Joe cool. Joe Montana. Joe Montana was I mean,
you talk about great big game quarterbacks four no and

(42:42):
Super Bowls. There was something really elegant and regal about
the way he played the position. Plus how great was
it when he came back and and I have a
one of my autographs that I have is Joe Montana
Jerry Rice. But when Joe Montana was wearing a Kansas
City Chiefs uniform, remember that he actually led the Chiefs
to the play us. Rashaun Woods is a personal favorite.

(43:02):
He's a great wide receiver at Oklahoma State. He dominated Oka.
It was a short period time where oklam State was
dominating Oklahoma. I put him down. J. J. Stokes another favorite.
Reggie Bush would be another favorite. Barry Sanders is the
greatest college football player ever, had the greatest college football
season ever. U Jamal Holloway at Oklahoma was a personal
favorite growing up. Bobby Hurley will be my college basketball.

(43:24):
There's a bunch to pick from there. Major League Baseball
has ever been a better hitter tactician of hitting the
baseball than Tony Gwynn n h l Wayne Gretzky. Boxing,
I went with Sugar Ray Leonard as well. P J,
Tiger Woods, Wrestling, Real Wrestling, Kenny Monday, Fake Wrestling, Rowdy
Roddy Piper, and Tennis AGAs. So there's my list. So

(43:55):
one of the other lists that Dan Buyer had for
us we and rank them was rank your top three
items at chick fil A, which is which is I
believe now, Buyer, this is taking from what you've seen
on the internet, which is apparently Bill Belichick at a
drive through the Chick fil as that when you got

(44:15):
the idea, the connection was going to be, Okay, give
me your top three items. I don't I original chicken sandwich.
No pickles is number one for me. I just I'm
not a pickles fans. I'm not listening. I'm not a
pickles fan either. I would never have somebody said like, hey,
do you want these pickles. I would never say yes.
But pickles on a Chick fil a chicken sandwich is

(44:35):
far different. It's uh, pickles and chicken sandwich is the
opposite of women's basketball. Right? Do you like but basketball?
Love it? You love women? Yes, you love women's basketball? Yeah? Ah?
Do you like pickles? Not really? Do you like fried
chicken sandwiches? Okay? Yeah? Do you like fried chicken sandwiches

(44:56):
on white bread and pickles. Yes, I do anyway, all right,
So original chicken sandwich one. What's to two would be
the breakfast the mini biscuits with what egg, white and chicken,
or just the the mini chicken biscuits. They come in
like packs of three or four. There are yummy and

(45:17):
then you can only get this at certain ones because
they at least the Chick fil a by Me doesn't
have it, but a spicy chicken biscuit. You can get
a spicy chicken sanwich, but I like the spicy chicken
biscuit the best. These are all good orders. You did
not include sweet tea, nor did you include waffle fry. No,
did not. I would do original chicken sandwich is number one.
It's like the number one by a you know, it's

(45:39):
Golden State Warriors last year, right, number one by a
mile um. Number two. I would do sweet tea just
because now part of it is we're in a part
of the country where you kind of gotta search canes
will have sweet tea. You gotta gotta search for sweet tea.
So I would do sweet tea second, and then I
would do uh, you know this is underrated it, especially

(46:00):
if you go to Chick fil A, Like I don't
want the carbs or the bread or the fried the
grilled nuggets, real nuggets at three. We bring this up
because Bill Belichick, hey, he's just a regular guy goes
to Chick fil A. But then here are more shots,
more shots being taken at the Patriots and their style

(46:23):
of coaching, of winning, of competing. Brandon Brooks plays for
the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Eagles are doing a lot
of talking. They win one Super Bowl. You know, they
survive Atlanta at home, could have lost Atlanta at home.
You know, you you get, you get Minnesota at home.

(46:43):
You beat the Patriots who didn't have Brandon Cooks and
sat Malcolm Butler. So to the victor's go the spoils.
But like, look they had some things go their favor.
Brandon Brooks, who also used to play in Houston, said, quote,
all these guys talking about all take the rings. Okay,
you can have your rings, you can have your effing

(47:04):
you're effing fifteen miserable years. That's from Lane Johnson Lyman
of the Eagles. Brandon Brooks added in it's not fun there.
I was under the same regime in Houston with O'Brien,
I almost retired. That s was miserable every day every day.
How much better his life with the Eagles night and day?

(47:25):
Brooks said, happy workers make more productive workers. When you're
not having fun. Man, uh those grinding those hard as
hard ass, hard nosed days. Brooks was cut off by
Lane Johnson. All the media wants to talk about. Lane
Johnson said his rings. I'm gonna put my mind in
the box. Get this ring, never wear it one day.
I'm gonna put it away in a box. The only

(47:47):
thing they're gonna remember from your plane, the only thing
you're gonna remember from your playing dation. I canna remember
the scores. You're going to remember the people you played
with and how you felt. That's the truth. That is
not true. Are you gonna remember the people? Yeah, you
can be super close. Those are your brothers in arms.
Do you remember the scores? Here's Bill Belichick when asked

(48:08):
about these comments. Pull you mentioned that Kobe Bryant visit
mentioned in the past year on the Easiest Guy to
play for? Is it important too to come up with
ways for players to feel like they're enjoying themselves as
they're putting in the work that you asked them to
put into. Yeah, what we feel it's important us is
to win. So that's really what we're trying to do.

(48:28):
Closet tackle Rane Johnson creal of you and in your
methodology and just said, uh, yeah, we're really we're focused
on what we're doing, trying to get better and taking
each day we can try to improve our football team.
Are really focused on what everybody else is doing. Look,
I this is what Lane Johnson is doing. Just see

(48:49):
your where Lane Johnson's twice been a steroid guy. Lane
John's actually has a really interesting career. Went to Oklahoma
as a quarterback. Quarterback became an unbelievable alignment. Unbelievable, I'm
super talent. He has had two p D suspensions, that's noted.
I'm not gonna sit here and tell you that that
he's a he's still a roy guy or whatever he

(49:10):
had too. I believe that what he's doing is calculated.
He wants to have a post career career. That's why
he's being outspoken to the media and calling out Bill Belichick.
Do I think it's more fun to play in Philly? Probably?
Do I think you can win and have fun. You
probably can. Here's the thing that the Patriots, it's not

(49:31):
that they've won, it's that they have not had a
bad season. And if if what Lane Johnson was was
saying was, look, they are all different kinds of ways
to win. You can win their way or you can
win our way. Are always more fun, more enjoyable. I
enjoy working here more. Well, you shouldn't do, especially when

(49:54):
you had one. You had one championship season one one
what you probably shouldn't do is call out a team
that since the year two thousand hasn't had a bad year.
It is nothing short of remarkable. It doesn't mean that

(50:15):
the Patriots it's the only way to win. It doesn't
mean that you have to. First of all, we don't
know if they don't have fun. We're hearing somebody from
Lane Johnson, who has never played for the New England
Patriots tell us how it's not fun to play for
the New England Patriots. But you've you've been to one
super Bowl in the last fifteen years, all right, they've

(50:39):
been to eight two since two thousand, they've been to eight.
They've never had a bad year. And Brandon Brooks, don't
tell me Houston is like New England, like, oh, Bill
O'Brien is, I don't know. It was miserable because you

(51:00):
guys didn't have a quarterback. It was miserable because heck,
your middle linebacker keeps being tested testing positive for p
E d S and oh yeah, by the way, J. J. Watt,
who was a superhero keeps getting hurt like those things
are miserable. Just because you were miserable playing for Bill
O'Brien doesn't mean you've been a miserable playing in New England.

(51:22):
And even if you were. The New England Patriots have
been in the playoffs every year except one since two
thousand and one, and that was two thousand two. I mean,
it's crazy how consistently successful they've been. So look, I

(51:48):
got the Lane Johnson thing. He's smart, he's funny. Uh
you know, he's good with equip and he's he's he's
picking out the big bully that everybody thinks is the
big bully and he's puffing out his chest because they
just beat him on a championship. But hey, dude, you
have more steroid suspensions than you have Super Bowl appearances.

(52:11):
Until that ratio changes a bit, I would I would
change the statement of hey, the only thing people are
gonna remember, or hey, the this is this is more
fun and more productive. The better way to say it
is even win their way, which doesn't seem like a

(52:34):
lot of fun. Are you going on? Are we? And
we're trying to disprove the theory that you have to
be miserable to win. The road ahead is bound to
take some unexpected turns. Farmers Insurance can help you understand

old school or Boston Chicken, and like, look, there's still
the goats in out there, and don't give me KNES,
KFC and KNC. I do love Chicken. Okay, y, we'll

(57:01):
get to your calls. We've got New York, Kentucky, Bakersfield, Cincinnati, Pennsylvania,
every Houston. Everybody wants to give us their list of
all time favorites. But I want to get you ready
for the NBA Finals, especially with Delaware making themselves the
first state which it's legal to gamble on sports outside
of Las Vegas. But Vegas is still the goat bega

(57:22):
betting place right, not even close. So let's take you there,
wait to like give my money? Right? Are you tired
of losing money every week? Yeah? Do you want to
be in the know? Well, we might not know, but
Vegas always knows. R J Bell is the founder of

He's also a host here on Friday nights and Saturday nights.
It's the show called Straight out of Vegas. R J.
We're gonna get to the Vegas lines in a second,
here's the need from UK. You grew up in Pittsburgh,
so I'm sure most of these have a Pittsburgh slant.
I'm sure you've seen the on social media. Favorite NBA
player all time, my favorite. I'm gonna go with Larry

(58:05):
bird Um favorite NFL player all time. Oh that's intrist
Steeler fans. So it's gonna have to be either let
me think out loud, Terry Bradshaw, Joe Green, or Mel Blind.
I'm going with Mel Blunt good. Uh college college basketball,
college basketball, best player of all time favorite. Wow, that's interesting.

(58:27):
I don't even know I was Jerome Lane from pitt
There you go, send it in Jerome favorite college football
player of all time? You go in Tony Dorset. You
know I wasn't a pit I'm on Ohio State grad.
So I'm gonna go with Archie Griffin. Archie Griffin, two
time Highsman Trophy Award winner, Major League Baseball Favorite all time.
Oh that one's easy. Dave the Cobra Parker. We are family.

(58:51):
Remember those hats they had, the sideways pinstripes or whatever. Yes,
I remember his arm from right is what I remember. Okay,
NHL I object on ethical grounds. What do you mean,
I don't I hate hockey. I don't like hockey either,
But who's your favorite? And I'll go with Lemieux. Okay,
Mario Lemieux boxing, oh Ali Pga, Nicholas the Ohio State University, Tennis,

(59:18):
oh absolutely Vegas, his own Andre Aggis love Andrea plus
his book. You ever read opened his book? And I
have I have accept the Matthews I don't love. But okay,
I don't like the math honest, But Dion, I mean
the the utter in sheer, honesty and the pain, agony
and all the different stuff. Is his dad's putting in
front of that that ball machine when he's like three
years old wrestling pro wrestling, oh Rick Flair. Okay, now

(59:44):
let's get to um. I have I have read where
I Know Chicken too, Doc, you do know Chicken? Lord,
Gus is Chicken in Memphis. Gus is Chicken in memphisis amazing, man.
It's also I spoke a south By Southwest a few
years ago. Uh stumbled on Gosses down in Austin. And
my wife checks the credit card every day, right the

(01:00:06):
business card. She calls me up after three days. This
is a true story and says. She says, hey, someone
must got your card. We're getting the same charge again
and again from this place called Gosses. I'm like, I'm
eating there every day. Yeah, that's like coach on Butcher
in New Orleans. Every time in New Orleans, I got
a coach on Butcher like breakfast, lunch, lunch, and dinner.
My wife said. They said the exact same thing I've

(01:00:28):
read where the Warriors are the biggest favorite in sixteen
years the NBA Finals? Is that right? Yes, since Lakers
in two thousand one over sixers and over the Sixers. Okay, uh,
it strikes me as weird that the Spurs weren't bigger
favorites when they took on Lebron in two thousand seven. No,
you know it's they were big favorites, but not this big.

(01:00:50):
And I think which is is fascinating And if you're
a Cavs fan, it really tells you the hill you
have to climb here. So right now, gold State minus
Cleveland plus eight Hunters, so a dollar wins you eight
dollars if you like the Calves to spring the upset.
If we go back to two thousand eight, there's been

(01:01:11):
twenty five NBA playoff series with a favorite or an
underdog bigger than plus seven fifty. So obviously Cleveland eight
to one is bigger than plus seven fifty. Those twenty
five teams, oh in twenty five during the last eleven years,
the line. Did the line change at all when Kevin
Love was was ruled to be playing. No, Because anytime

(01:01:33):
there's a line out in which there's uncertainty, they have
an opinion built into it, and the odds were in
the Vegas opinion about he would play, thus him playing
uh met expectations. So no change. Okay, So let's start
with tonight twelve and a half point line. When I
checked before the show, that's that where we are now, yes,

(01:01:53):
and what's the over under? Okay? So uh it means
and remember this is a this is a team in
Golden State that did not allow Houston score over a
hundred points um in in that series, which is kind
of remarkable considering the pace by which what's your assumption
of how the pace will be? I think if you're
the Calves, you're gonna try to slow this game down

(01:02:13):
in every game down for one main reason beyond the
fact gold State plays best fast, but the fact that
Lebron's uh physicality, his his his energy. I guess it's
the best way to say it. Can't play seven games
where he's playing a bunch of minutes if it's a
fast paced or can't play a whole series. I mean,

(01:02:35):
the only chance to cass have is Lebron just has
Monster game after Monster game, and if he's doing that
at a fast pace, I think there's a big problem.
Give me, give me a prop that you like, the
prop that that jumps out to you that you like.
I'm gonna go under Lebron's points in game one and
you can get that all the way up to thirty
four points. I think this is a situation where he's

(01:02:58):
only gonna be able to have a handful of Monster games,
and I just don't see Game one as a game
that Lebron puts up a monster. Now, if Golden State
wins and wins easily, especially Game one, I'd be looking
at the Calves not only Lebron having a monster in
Game two, but potentially the Calves winning the game out right.

(01:03:19):
There will still be a huge underdog in Game two.
But I think that's the kind of game gold State
might get a little flat because even in the finals.
We've seen Gold State and the playoffs where if they
feel a little fat and happy, they tend to lay
an egg. I think Game four was an example of
that against Houston. No, there's they have They haven't won

(01:03:39):
four games in rosince February, right, They've had an inability
And I believe playing without Iguodala is a bigger thing
than others and people at all eight points a game,
you don't understand not just how important he is, but
also how big a drop off there is with their personnel.
Once when he comes out, that means Jordan Bells playing more,
means Cave and Loney's playing more. That means Cook play more,

(01:04:00):
and those guys like those guys will struggle in this series.
On the other hand, you know, Cleveland not very good defensively,
even if they have help off of Draymond Green, off
of Jordan's Bell. So I struggle with how Cleveland's gonna
stop Golden State. Oh, no doubt. And again we've got
a huge favorite because of that. Check out this Doug
twelve and a half point favorite. As you mentioned Gold

(01:04:20):
State in Game one. Gold States play fifty home games
this season, thirty eight times. They've been less of a
favorite than they are in this game. Only twelve times
have they been this big of a favorite, and it's
against the lebron and the Calves in the finals. So
you might say, wow, it's Cleveland really in the bottom

(01:04:41):
third of the league. I mean, if you think about
it with the idea or even the bottom fourth out
of fifty games, only twelve times. No, the analogy, and
we talked about this during the NFL playoffs. When you
have a big double digit favor in the NFL or
in the NBA, the big question is how hard is
that favorite to play? And often times they're gonna be

(01:05:02):
flat in those big favorite spots. They're likely not flat
there we talk go and say sometimes is in the playoffs.
So the in the NFL, those big favorites tend to
cover more because there's not an uncertainty about their effort.
So I think it is noteworthy to think this line
isn't just big, it's like huge. I think it's I

(01:05:23):
think it's way way way too big, way way too
big for for that, especially considering they're coming off of
Game seven in which they had to extend to expend
a ton of energy and uh and and frankly play
more minutes than I think even they're comfortable. Uh. A
couple of things I wanted to get to with r. J. Bell,
who's founder of pregame dot com. You can hear a

(01:05:44):
show straight out of Vegas, which of course plays uh
plays every Friday and Saturday night right here on Fox
Sports Radio. Did the line the futures bet on Lebron's
home next year change after that Rachel Nichols interview the
uh And you're talking after game seven? Yeah, well, like

(01:06:05):
for for next season? Right? Yeah? Yeah, but you're saying
after the interview after game seven, yes, yes, And and
there was a couple of moves off of that Game
seven number one, the Calves odds got worse. They were
the clear favorite at plus one ten, which means just
about fifty fifty. He was going back a little bit less.

(01:06:25):
It went up to plus one seventy five, so away
from the Calves. You would think winning to make it
to the finals would help the Calves. But no, Now,
what else happened was the Rockets got much much better
after their Game seven loss. They were six to one.
Now they're plus two fifty, so two and a half
to one. The theory being if a team is has

(01:06:48):
a disappointment, they have a better chance to do something
fairly drastic. Last thing I find interesting in the second
UH team tied for the favorite right now with the
Calves the seven Sixers plus one seventy five, with the
Calves the plus one seventy five. But you might say,
what about all the drama went about any change after
the burner phones. I tell you this, it got, it

(01:07:10):
got a little worse from plus one fifty to plus
one seventy five. I think it might improve the chances
because what do we know about Lebron? He loves control
of the front office. Imagine if the Sixers said, listen,
we're gonna clean house because of all this, you can
put your guy in there. Doesn't that increase the chance
of Lebron going to Filly? That's exactly what I thought

(01:07:30):
when when uh we were talking earlier was Zach Harper
from fan Rag sports about how he likes control, and
that was the exact thing that that popped into my head. Apparently, Uh,
you you you are thinking you're thinking like Vegas now, Doug,
I mean that's a cop poin. Well, I'm also just
thinking logically, he wants That's why I've never believed he
would ever consider san Antonio. San Antonio can't bring your
boys with you on your plane. You have no control,

(01:07:52):
and you know like you're you're not gonna, You're gonna.
The first thing they say is you need to check
your ego at the door, right, And that's just not
something Lebron James is going to do. The really dug
and real quick, if you don't mind. I think the
biggest indictment you could give Lebron this year, because on
the court it's hard to give any real indictment, is
that this is his team and the fact he has

(01:08:15):
all of these inferior players, at least at the championship
level on the team with them is really his doing.
So maybe letting go of that a little bit and
with the Spurs could be a type of redemption for him.
But there is no there is no admittance of fault
outside of look here's what Here's here. I started the
show saying, is R J Bell jous dug Gotlip Show,

(01:08:35):
Fox Sports Radio. Everybody blames Dallas on him. I don't
think it was all on him, but I do think
that since then he's been absolved of all blame, and
I don't think that's fair. That's fair either. Last thing, Uh,
m v P, give me the what are the futures
on m v P for this, oh, for the for
the playoffs, for the for the finals. You've got a situation,

(01:08:56):
and this is fascinating where Lebron's odds to win the
m v P are better than the calves of odds
to win the title. So we talked about Calves are
eight to one or so to win this title, win
this series. Lebron's in the six to one range. So
the market is saying, clearly, there's a less than zero chance,

(01:09:17):
there's a material chance Calves lose the series, Lebron wins
the m v P. Uh. Really it's Durant and Curry
and all the usual suspects are favored. But that is
the first time I've seen a real major difference between
eight to one to six to one saying guy might
lose and still win it. Uh. Give one last we're
stramond on that just because if you remember when Iguadala

(01:09:40):
wanted it was because of his defense and he made shots,
but he was left wide open. They're gonna leave Draymond
Green wide open and he might hit some What's what's
Draymond's odds on m v P. You know I didn't
go that deep. He's not amongst the favorites. I can
send Ryan an email right after if you want it,
but I can get that right to you, alright, no problem.
Sorry about putting you on the spot. Hey, I love
it because I'm usually gonna have a hundred. I'm gonna

(01:10:02):
have it, and then the one time I don't, they're
gonna say, boy, r J's honest to r J Bell
joining us, last thing? Give me if you were betting tonight,
what would you be betting if I were betting tonight.
I I can't play gold State in any spot because
I think this is inflated. But I don't want to
bet the Calves on the spread because I do think

(01:10:22):
if they are competitive, they have a chance to win
these games. So I would actually force the bat take
about eight to one on the Calves winning game one.
Great stuff. R J Bell Pregame dot Com, follow them

Here's what NBA champion Antoine Walker said on First Things
First this morning when talking about James Harden, it's James
Harden really trying to win the title. I mean, we
know he wants to get there. Is that a manage
active is to win the title? Chris Paul Yes, what
do you think is the numbers the athletes? Well, I

(01:18:05):
think when you don't make the adjustments that he needed
to make and this year's playoffs after going where he
went through last year, I don't never say no. If
it is he's that concerned now that's what press conference
out the words and not saying he has to be
on TV crime and and Boom one. But it doesn't
seem like a level of like I'm disappointed, and I'm
sure man went home and been very disappointed around his
family and friends. But it's just the same right to me,
because when you shoot twenty seven threes and miss him

(01:18:27):
and you're the best player on the floor, supposed to
be one of the best players on the floor and
you don't change that, I just think you're not really
making that conscious effort to be a champion. It's Look,
it's a it's a very fair and interesting perspective, very
fair and interesting perspective on on James Harden. It should
all you also should like we all should should point

(01:18:48):
out that I don't want to over judge what somebody
says in the press conference as to who they are.
I did think that Harden tried to play defense. I
just think there are times in which he has a
lot of quit in him. But in that particular series,
there were more times in which he was playing hard
defensively than in at any other time. So if if
that was the if that was the thought, then yeah, sure,

(01:19:10):
I'm okay with it. Look, I'm not a James Harden guy.
I just I don't like the fact that he quits
defensively when he gets beaten. I don't like the lack
of the kind of the apathetic view of the defensive end.
And I also don't love the idea of overhandling the
ball and when you get a mispatch, dribble dribble dribble
and taking your time make it's really really really effective

(01:19:32):
against the right mismatch. But I don't doesn't mean I
like watching it um is he committed to winning a championship?
I think more so than he's been, but probably not
really enough. And and this if you want to know
what's truly missing with the Rockets, and I know a
reason one one right and a reason when one he
played well with the Lakers. But outside of that, like

(01:19:52):
the the power structure of that team, I do think
that Chris Paul is an adult and that Chris Paul
wants to win, but he hasn't, you know, so outside
of a reason, who's one on that team who can?
Who is who is somebody that hardened can or has
to respect that says, hey, dude, you gotta come off
of that basketball. You gotta you gotta let other people

(01:20:15):
work so that you can save some energy. You gotta
play harder defensively. You don't have anybody really in that organization,
on that coaching staff outside of Trevor reason who's won.
So that's hard to implore about it. He's learning everything
as he goes, as is most of that organization. Got
a Jim in Kentucky. Jim, let's start with you your
list your favorite all time NBA players who actually this

(01:20:39):
is Tim, not Jim, but my NBA player all time
is Darryl Griffith, Dr Dunkenstein and NFL Bradshaw college football,
Peyton Manning college basketball, um, college basketball. I guess I'd

(01:21:02):
have to go with Jordan's. You just threw it out
there right, like you're not really college your football. You're
a football guy. You're like, I'm not really a basketball guy.
It's okay, Griffith for both by Louisville guy. Um, do
you have an NHL? You don't have to force if
you don't have one. Yeah, NHL, I don't keep up

(01:21:23):
with it. But great sky um boxing? Uh the right one, Mohammed.
I mean you sound like Louisville to me. P g
a um Tiger fake wrestling, Jackie Fargo the fabulous one
uh and tennis? Uh Macaro. You didn't get you didn't

(01:21:46):
do U League baseball? I did. I didn't do baseball.
Who's your favorite BAS League Baseball player? Pitching? Greg Max
hitting called your sky? Yes? Okay, oh good great list. Yeah,
the pitching and the hitting is different. Would you like
up music? Would you like to add a picture? You're
like your all time favorite picture to watch? Mine? Man,
I guess I'd have to go with I was always

(01:22:07):
a big Jared Weaver fan. Dude, you're going all Angels.
You're like twelve years always like I like Weaver? What
about you? Ramos? You picked Fernando as your major league
Give me a hitter that Kirk Gibson, No, no, no.
I love Piazza because I always found every time Piazza
came to the plate, he could hit a home run anytime.
I don't feel that about every player. With Piazza, I
always did. It always felt like that bat was it

(01:22:29):
was even too big for him. It felt like that
was that was Thor's hammer. You've seen the New Avenger.
That was Thor's hammer, right. We just swung it and
if it made contact, it was going really far. Buy
are you want to buy? Who is his baseball player? Um?
You didn't ask. But I like Glenn Davis of the
Astros when I was a kid, and I liked Mike Scott.
Mike Scott didn't he have eight teen strikeouts in a game? Something?

(01:22:53):
You can blame Kyrie, you can blame Dan Gilbert. You
also have to blame Lebron. That's next? What up? Doug
Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio. Lamar Heard's gonna join us
in fifteen minutes. Uh, Lamar's NBA analysts covers the Trailblazers.
So the great thing about Lamar is that because we're

(01:23:16):
not talking Blazers, he can give us his honest opinion
on the Warriors and on the Calves. Whereas when you
work for um Comcast Sports net Portland, which I think
is that right now he works for a Comcast Sports
New Portland Northwest. Anyway, UM, you know you kind of
gotta be pro Blazer. We're not gonna ask Hi about
the Poorland Shoil Blazers. We don't care right now. But anyway,

(01:23:40):
Lamar heard will join us upcoming. I feel bad I
didn't put Jay Berson on my list. What most of
you guys don't know who Ja Burson was. He was
a All Big Ten player for Ohio State in basketball.
He broke his neck and obviously that limited the remainder
of his career. Played a lot of CBA ball after that.

(01:24:01):
But Jay Burson was probably my favorite as a kid.
We've been doing this all time favorites. You know, we
never didn't do soccer on that list. I didn't do soccer.
It's interesting, Dan Buyer just said Zendine jending Jadan just
left Real Madrid where he was the coach and they
just won the Cup, and now he's gonna kind of
walk He's gonna drop the mic on top and walk away.

(01:24:21):
Jadan is my favorite soccer player. Of course, he had
that one meltdown moment in the World Cup where he
had bettered the dude. Remember that awesome? So good? Well,
take some more of your calls on your list after
I I dispatch a little bit of this Lebron James narrative.
I have never ever uh napalmed Lebron James over what

(01:24:48):
went wrong in the what went wrong in the series
against the Dallas Mavericks had to my thing? Um, I
just didn't. I was did Lebron get super tight? Yeah?
Do you stop trusting his jump shot? Sure? Was the
moment a little bit too big and he wanted a

(01:25:09):
little bit too bad. Yes, But Mike Bibbie was awful.
Started games one through five, didn't play games six. They
had Eric Spoelster. I thought got badly out coached by
Rick Carlisle, especially end of game situations where they created
is os and left people on islands and dirt. Navitski
was made to look like the greatest player on Earth.

(01:25:30):
So I've never said it was all his fault that
he that that they lost to the Dallas Mavericks. But
it also isn't all his fault fault when they've won,
right Like, there's a portion of the blame, positive and negative,
that should be laid at the feet of Lebron James.
So when he sat down with Rachel Nichols and she

(01:25:53):
asked him about the odds being against them in the finals,
he had this to say, The odds has not been
with us all season, you know, even if you start
back to the summertime, when I felt like it was
just bad for our franchise to be able to just
to trade away our our superstar point guard. Obviously I
wasn't part of the communications and know what exactly went
on between the two sides, but I just felt like

(01:26:15):
it was just it was bad time and for for
our team to just get rid of our our our
point guard, you know, and Kyrie Irving. So you know,
I felt like the odds was against us, you know,
from the from the summer. He said that he called
management and said he did not like the trade, and
as she said, called management, said he didn't like the trade. Okay, wait,

(01:26:38):
what h called management? Why don't you call Kyrie Irving?
Like I didn't think it was a good idea, but
you didn't call Kyrie. You didn't set up a meeting
with Kyrie Irving. We would all agree there's no more
powerful figure in the NBA A than Lebron James. Is

(01:27:01):
that fair? Whether you think he's the best player or
you think he's the second best player. And I do
love that. This is always fascinating to me. You know,
Nick Wright, Lebron has a great game, Nick right likes
a tweak and Durant doesn't play as well. He likes it. Well,
you know, how could you say that Durant is better? Like, well,
it's completely different level of competition, different supporting cast, different game, different,

(01:27:25):
everything is different. I heard Jim Jackson on Colin Coward
earlier today. They wouldn't have won a game, let alone
a series with Kevin Durant instead of Lebron James. But
we'd all agree Kevin Durant's a great isolation score. Correct,

(01:27:45):
he's not the pastor of Lebron, but he's a very
good ring protector and score. So you mean to tell
me if they spread everything out the way they do
for Lebron, and they gave the ball to Kevin Durant
and asked him to score forty. You don't think he'd
end up with thirty five a game with you know,
five to tennis is the game? I mean, did I did?

(01:28:10):
I Like? I think he's They're different players. Durants more
of a shooter than Lebron, who's just a ferocious, powerful
athlete who can shoot. But I must I'm like losing
my mind over this thing. The East is not good
and Kevin Durant is great. I actually think they'd be fine.

(01:28:35):
I don't know if he would have the explosive plays
that Lebron has had, but he's a really good rim protector,
he's a great shooter, he's a great score and if
he was the only option, he would score more points. Duh,
Why are we soo disingenuous with it? I'm not really sure.

(01:28:56):
I'm not really sure anyway. Um. But just like I
won't solely blame Lebron for Dallas, on the other hand,
I won't solely give him credit for the championship wins.
The same is true with Kyrie Irving, Dan Gilbert and
Kobe Altmand Like these were that they were not good

(01:29:19):
trades and the idea that they were forced to make
the trade in the timing of the trades it was,
it wasn't great. And if Lebron would have said, hey,
here's the thing, Kyrie, I hear you. You want out,
but why don't you come to training camp and let's
try and work things out, or had he simply gone
to Kyrie Irving or gone to management said I know

(01:29:41):
he wants out, but just haven't come to training camp.
Tell him it's gonna be all right, We'll figure it
out and go from there. Like this is what Lebron
has done is somebody his significant other wanted a divorce
and he's gone to his own lawyer and said, man,
I wish they would call off this divorce. Instead of

(01:30:01):
calling his wife and saying, let's work this thing out.
All right, I hear you on the divorce. Let's just
stay together for the kids for now, he didn't do that.
So Lebron wants nothing to be his fault. I'm sure
part of Kyrie Irving not wanting to be around the
Lebron James thing wasn't just all of the Lebron James

(01:30:22):
sycophants that around there, but also that Lebron never commits
to stay to Cleveland long term, so that changes how
the franchise focuses on him as opposed everybody else. It
isn't all Lebron James's fault, but some of it is.
Some of it is out of this is Michael Wilbon

(01:30:47):
on I think with Dan Lebottard. No, No, he's on
with Dan Patrick. He's on with Dan Patrick earlier today.
Take a listen. If he gets swept, can we be
critical of him that he got swept, if they're one
of the biggest underdogs and team sports history? No, you know,
it's not even just sort of comparing to the team
sports history is just looking at the two teams now,

(01:31:07):
you know, looking at the two teams now and knowing
where they you know, how they've gotten to this point
and what happened in the middle of their season. On
I would not be critical of Lebron, who I seek
so far has had you know, one of the if
not the best singles or an individual postseason run that
I can remember. Um No, he has to be dog

(01:31:30):
bad and Dan I don't think he can. One of
us or anybody else sees that happening. Dey, Yes, I mean,
let's let the games play out. We've already said there's
no blame on the bro. There's no blood in Lebron's names.
That's what we've already said, no blood on his hands
at all. You know, just so aware if we want

(01:31:54):
to do the goat thing right, and how well Lebron
James is playing, Jordan's in the playoffs averaged forty thirty five,
thirty six, thirty five, thirty seven, thirty one, thirty four
and a half, thirty five thirty one. Uh, that was
the year back from baseball, thirty point one, thirty one

(01:32:15):
and thirty two and a half. Like we're just so distant.
Is the greatest playoff performances we ever seen? Like he's
been great, It's been awesome. I have no idea how
I will evaluate Lebron James. I think they're going to
get beat. I think the games will be much closer,
and I think they'll win a game maybe even two

(01:32:37):
in this series. That's what I think. But I cannot
carry any of that bias with me and how I
evaluate how Lebron James played. Why are we predetermined that
it's not Lebron's fault. What if a game is in
fact his fault. It's like last year he got lit
up in the fourth quarter. Yeah, but it's overall stats. Okay,

(01:32:57):
we judge you in the NBA Finals based upon what
you do in this I can have in the fourth quarter,
in close games, and in the deciding game in that series,
which I believe was Game four, Kevin Durant dribble up
the court and made a three pointer right in Lebron
James's eye. That was not le Bron's fault. Who's fall
was it? Road ahead is bound, takes money, expect turns.

Baker's Field, Sean, really quickly give me your list. Uh,
let's start with your favorite all time NBA player. Uh,

Moss college basketball player. I have a tie, I'd like
to I'd like to report to tie. I'd like to
report type Go ahead, Brandy Grandville, Granville s C. Yeah
in de Marcus Miner. I went to college with Daily Universe. Um,
Tim Land's Major League Baseball. Uh, pool holes hitter, Randy

(01:34:08):
Johnson picture pool holes hitter. I haven't say I heard
pit pools. That's like boxing. P g ah, Pinki Tiger
fake wrestling, Oh, Bret Hart, Wow, I don't know brothers Black,
Lex Luke, I like Lex Luvie tho, I have I
have noticed that a substantial number Like you're black, aren't you? Yeah? Okay,

(01:34:32):
that's a substantial on the black feeld Like man, I
feel like fake wrestling is a white guy thing and
I'm not. I'm not really into it either, and I
am white, but it's more of a white guy think,
isn't it. Yes, I'll was out of it by like
eight years old. Alright, alright, fair, fair enough? Um, And
do you want to offer up at tennis? Oh? Yeah, alright?
I like agasy as well. Thanks for the car. Appreciate

(01:34:52):
Sean and Bakersfield listening to the show. Lamar heards a friend.
He's also a really good analyst. It's a great player
at Organ State. He's gonna join us. Give us his
thoughts on Game one of the NBA Finals. Does he
think it can be as close as I do. That's
up coming next. But first I tell no lies in

(01:35:13):
the show none and I snore. I do. I snore.
I don't think it's that bad, but my wife doesn't
think it's that good. I should point out that I
have a recording of my wife snoring. That's right, that
I will that I sent her. Yes, yes, thank you. Listen,
this is my anyway. When you got a bed with Zeppa,

(01:35:38):
you wake up with happy z s. Remember, sleeping is
not snoring. If anyone you knows snores, you need to
get them a Zeppa or get it for yourself. Go
to Zeppa dot com. That's z y p p dot com.
Happy Z spelled backwards. Hopefully she's not listening on the
I Heart radio app. Zeppa's revolutionary snoring mouthpiece. That's an

(01:35:59):
app game changer. If you have ever slept in a
separate bedroom on the couch or been nudged all night long,
this is what you need. It's called Zeppa. Z y
p p a h. Get a Zeppa. Go to z
y p p a h dot com. Happy z spell backwards.
If you forget the spelling Zeppa dot com, you go
to zepa dot com type in snore sixty six, you

(01:36:21):
also get free shipping. Do you want to sleep well
and you want her or him to sleep well beside you?

good price when you're ready to buy a new or

(01:36:41):
use car. Visit True Car and they enjoy more confident
car buying experience. Doug Otlib Show, Fox Sports Radio. I
saw this. Every analysts writer, anybody connected with the NBA
for ESPN who has the games uh has picked the Warriors,
maybe interestingly, more maybe as interesting. Is only one of

(01:37:03):
the this looks like names as Warriors in four? That's
Chris Herrings, writer has been four um and only to
have them going seven. Ian Bagley f MSP, New York
is one. Jeremiahs Engelman, who I've never I don't know
personally is seven. So everybody else most of them five
some six. That's generally my thought. I think there's a

(01:37:27):
window there. I do. I think there's a window there
for the Calves to win a game or two. And
let's just be honest. If you can win two games,
you can win a series. Win two games, you can
win a series. Because now fatigue becomes a major factor,
and Lebron James is not human. Everybody else gets tired,

(01:37:47):
he does not. And this is not a healthy Warriors
team with Draymond and his shoulder. Steph always struggles to
stay healthy and they're currently playing without andre A Gogodala.
I think it's incredibly important to what they do and
who they are, especially because the drop off when you
get to their benches is massive. Those just my thoughts.

(01:38:10):
I think it's going to be a competitive series, at
least early on. Now they got down three? Oh would
they would they won to three? Ken coun it, it's
a very good possibility. Stuck out the show Fox Sports Radio.
Let's let's get the thoughts of Lamar Heard, who's a
talented NBA analyst covers the Portland Trailblazers for a living
fam on Twitter at l underscore Herd. That's h you

(01:38:31):
are d no relation to college. There's no no relation
to college, Lamar. First, on first glance, what do you think?
What do you think of the series? I think the series,
Doug is gonna be what the Warriors wanted to be.
And what I mean by that and that's assuming health.
If they remain healthy throughout the series. Um, with the

(01:38:52):
exception of the Igadala, when Golden State is locked in
and they're not, they're not being flimsy with the ball,
they're not be and careless with some of the passes,
with the shot selection. Uh, they can be unbeatable. And
when four games in a row, but if it's the
Golden State that we're cut in the scene from time
to time, that's a little loose. And Lebon continues on

(01:39:13):
the trend of playing a superhuman brand of basketball. He's
been playing and and and here's what is the main
thing that I'm going to be looking for from Cleveland
is on the switches, Ken Tristan Thompson guard, Ken Kevin
Love guard Because when goat when Golden State lost to
Cleveland a couple of years ago, one of the big
factors that, as you know, is on the switches. They

(01:39:34):
did a good job containing uh, Steph Curry not KD
wasn't with the team. We know that, but they did
a good time to team and stuff, and so much
so that a lot of people said, well, Steph wasn't
healthy in the saries, and you know, so then they
look at last step was able to be staff as
we go as the MVP level stuff, and so you
think that, okay, if they can play like that, then

(01:39:54):
it might be asleep. So I'm gonna be looking to
see how does Cleveland defend on the switches right away,
and it really just how locked in Golden State is,
because I think Golden State is locked in. It's a
four or five game series. Um, there is something that
helps Cleveland on those switches is that right now, you
don't have to guard Draymond Green and you don't have

(01:40:14):
to guard whoever else they're thrown out there, you know,
with exception maybe of Swaggy, and Swaggy is so there's
so many other things he doesn't do that they don't
trust him out there. I mean, there's so as much
as like we want to point out, hey, George Hill
can't guard anybody, like, yeah, you can't. But if you
just follow out around Clay and then you know they
put j R. On staff like, it doesn't mean they

(01:40:34):
can guard him. There's help everywhere, and so it becomes
there becomes a lot less space on the floor. Yeah, no,
without a doubt. And I think we saw with the
way Houston started to blame a little bit with their
switches and the guys that they were helping off of.
I still think they could have helped off of guys
a little bit more. Um, But yeah, no, there there
there is still a chance there. And so when I

(01:40:56):
say the Warriors in four or five, I'm not saying
it's gonna be all blow out. I'm all, you know
the deal. You gotta do thee by one. And so
I think even with helping off of nonshooters and uh
guys for Cleveland playing out of their minds that they
have to I still, honestly, I just think if go
to Faders locked in, it's not gonna be good enough
to beat them by one point. I just I just

(01:41:18):
those guys, you know, just watching them all throughout the season, Uh,
when they want to make up. You know that stug
coaches always trying to teach players, all right, don't try
to relax and then turn it on and then flip
the switch later on in the game. You can't just
slip the switch. We'll go to take a flip the
switch when when they want to. When they're there, they
can flip the switch. Now it looks like there's been

(01:41:38):
times where it's gonna come back to buy them. We
thought maybe that would happen in the Years series. Um
it didn't. And I just I think maybe they see
the bullet they dodge and come out with a different
level of focus. Look I I I look at at
at Cleveland. I'm like, man, they put a bunch of
shooters around Lebron and they're they're they're gonna be able
to score against Golden States some because you're gonna help.

(01:42:01):
But if you help, he'll find your guy. If you don't,
he's gonna score a bunch, especially that Igodala. And on
the other hand, I also realized that they played the Celtics,
who don't have nearly the number the volume of shooters,
and they just they give up wide open shots. Right.
They're just at times Cleveland is so bad defensively, and
this is a team that makes you if you're gonna

(01:42:22):
make a mistake, they're gonna make you pay. And that's
the thing for me, Like Cleveland all throughout the year,
you know, good offensive team, one of the top five
teams offensively, one of the worst five teams defensively, and
just the types of looks that they constantly give you
throughout a game. You just nobody can beat Golden Stake
giving up those kind of looks. So that so that's

(01:42:43):
what I'm saying. One of the main factors for me
is going to be on the defensive hand with them
is on the switch, is how they contain and then
what they do off of the ball with the switching,
are they locked in? Are they switching and making contact
right away not letting step and um, Katie and Clay
shake feare for some little shots like if if they
are super attentive, um, then I do think that they

(01:43:05):
have a shot at making this thing interesting. But the
thing is they got to be that for the possessions
throughout the game. And I just don't know. Based on
what I've seen defensively from Cleveland against a really good
offensive teams throughout the season, I just don't think he'll
be an Lamar heard joining us a talented analyst for
for it was the Comcast Sports Net Northwest. A lot

(01:43:26):
covers the Portland Trailblazers for Living. You may have seen
him used to do games for Fox Pactrol Network ESPN
as well covers the Trailblazers for Living joins us in
the Doug Gotlips Show on Fox Sports Radio. I wanted
your take on what Lebron said to Rachel Nichols. He
he said that, um, he didn't like the trade and

(01:43:46):
that he called management to tell him that he didn't
like the trade. Has not been with us all season,
you know, even if you start back to the summertime,
when I felt like it was just bad for our
franchise to be able to just to trade away our
our superstar point guard. Obviously I wasn't part of the
communications and know what exactly went on between the two sides,
but I just felt like it was just it was

(01:44:07):
bad time and for for our team to just get
rid of our our our point guard, you know, and
Kyrie Irving, So you know, I felt like the odds
was against us, you know, from from the summer. It's
interesting he says like he calls Kyrie superstar, which I
agree he is. He's his our point guard. And he
says like, look, I don't, But then he acts like
why I was in privy to those conversations, Why wasn't he? Well,

(01:44:30):
I it's it's difficult to believe that in any organization.
And Lookhon James is the part of does not bring
him in on certain conversations. Now, look, he's not the
owner of the team technically, but he kind of is.
He's the guy. He runs the franchise. He has made
the frantise revalence uh so relevant and so I don't

(01:44:52):
know if maybe isn't letting us all the way behind
the curtain here. Um, one thing I will say is this,
and I had this conversation a lot of times, and
Cleveland did win that championship. Um, you know, I know
a lot of people. Uh, the overwhelming sentiment with people
that I talked to it at the time was that,
you know, Lebron carried that team, put him on his back,
brought him back from the three one deficit. And and

(01:45:14):
I would always just kind of blink up to people, Hey,
I don't know if you were watching or not in
Game three when things started to shift. Uh, Lebron wasn't
the one who broke the sale. Lebron wasn't the one
that started off in that game and was able to
shake a free get some shots offen the defense a
little bit. Take away some of the help on the
weak side and and just really opened up the court.

(01:45:36):
You know that was Kyrie. Um, I'm one that felt
like after the end of that series, issues has been
co uh finals MVPs. I thought Kyrie was that good
And UM, you know, I watched body language a lot
during games, and I remember last season when those two
guys played together, like you kind of watch some of
the conversations and in its tense on the championship type team,

(01:45:59):
the types of things they go through, the types of
hard conversations you have to have. Um. But just in
in watching the interaction in just the two games that
the Trail Blazers played against him, he just didn't get
that sense that Lebron was a guy that that truly
felt that Kyrie was the superstar that I think Kyrie is.

(01:46:21):
And that's not to say that Lebron doesn't indeed feel
that way. It just it just didn't up here that
way observing those two gigns. So, UM, it was a
little strange. Um, hearing him say what he said is
surprising that he wanted to be involved in that kind
of decision. But of course, as you know, that's gonna
lead to more talking speculation as to what he's gonna

(01:46:42):
do in free agency because if he's not in that
that type of conversation, UM, I really don't know how
the guy feels comfortable there because I know the star
I cover in Damian Lillard. Um, he's privy to a
whole lot of information. And if somebody of a Kyrie caliber,
um is going me to get traded, Um, Damian will
most likely know about that. Yeah. My other issue is

(01:47:04):
why not just pick up the phone? If you hear
Kyrie's got an issue with you, pick up the phone
and column. Yeah, I mean, you know, well that's what
That's what I'm talking about. You know, like if if
if you really feel like a guy is a superstar
and and there's something up, you know you're gonna do that.
You're going to ask like what's the deal? And just
like I referenced the guy covering Damian Lillard, we had

(01:47:26):
a situation like that with the Blazers early in the
season where Moe Hearkle was who's the starting small forward,
wasn't very happy with how he was being utilizing games,
and he made a comment post game after a game
in Philadelphia, and we went on bus from Philadelphia to
New York that night. And once we got into the
hotel that night at like two am, whatever time was,

(01:47:47):
Damian little bit went to mo Herkle was his room,
to go and talk to him and say, I heard
about the comments you made. I want to know how
we can address it and make it better. And really
it was at that point that the season started to
turn around for the guys. And so if you really
feel a certain way about a guy, you would do
exactly what you just said. You pick up the phone
or you're gonna meet him, man a man, you have
a talk, but uh, you address it and you deal

(01:48:09):
with it by the way. Um, in those last three wins,
in the last three wins of the series, the NBA
Finals that you were talking about, Um, he was a
plus twe Kyrie was a plus twenty, a plus twenty five,
and a plus ten. He had forty one twenty three
and of course had had twenty six and hit the
game winning shot in in Game seven. So it's and

(01:48:32):
I love the fact that you bought up the numbers
because the numbers validate what what was being displayed. And
and the main thing for me, like I said, is
not even just a number. His numbers were great, but
it was the fact that he's the one that broke
the seal. He's the one that was able to score
the ball one on one. They were guarding Lebron one

(01:48:53):
on one for a lot of that series. In Game three,
they weren't filling the need to send a lot of
the extra help because they they had him contained. But
Kyrie is the one who opened up. So I just
I just never really felt like Kyrie ever got the
credit that that he truly deserved. I agree with you,
Lamar heard joining us in the Doug Outlets show on
Fox Sports Radio. Knowing as much control as he wants,

(01:49:14):
Where can he get that? Oh man, Well, there are
a lot of teams that would give him that control. Now,
the question is is that a good team? Is that
the team is gonna compete for a championship. That's that's
really the questioning. Um, you know, I I don't know.
I won't claim to know what the inner workings of

(01:49:35):
a lot of fun offices. Um. My assumption though, would
be that most places where there's no prior beef as
there is with Labron where he is now, I think,
uh they will find a way to work with him. Now.
Of course, in Miami might be a little different because
pat Riley runs a different ship out there and those
two san Antonio won't work. Yeah, I don't think the

(01:49:57):
Lakers would work. Um, that's the one thing I think
holding back why don't work? Look, do I think that
that Magic would say all the right things? Yeah? I
think Rob Polinka would say all the right things. I
think you have. I think the Alonzo thing and the
LaVar thing, I don't think that's something that he he
probably loves. I think he thinks he doesn't doesn't care.

(01:50:19):
He worked through it. But I also think that Magic
and Rob Blinka thought the exact same thing, and it
it can be annoying. Um. But I I also I
think they wanted Fitzdale to be the coach there. You know,
that was that was floated as you know in NBA
circles when the Lakers weren't playing well. And now Fizdale
is the coach in in uh in New York and
so uh, you know, does he like Luke? Does does

(01:50:42):
he like that style? A young a coach? That's I
think Luke's younger than he is or about the same
age as he is. I don't don't know. I don't
know how that works. But I don't know, Like he's
not gonna have more control than Magic and Polinka. I
don't see that happening. I don't know. I mean he's
a little different with Lebron Luke, Yeah yeah, Luke Lucas,

(01:51:04):
Oh yeah, Luke finished up at Arizona, le Brown, I'm
still in high school. Um yeah, I don't know. Man,
It's gonna be something to watch. It's gonna be a
circus over the next couple of weeks. If you were,
if you were a betting man, where'd you bet he
placed next year? Cleveland? I kind of think so too.
I think Cleveland. I think Um, And I don't know

(01:51:25):
how it all works out. I don't know if he
goes and has a certain meeting with Dan Gilbert and Um,
I don't even know if that is what takes place.
I just think with him, UM, his family foundation, what
he does there in the area, what he means to
the area. I think he really grasped all of that. UM.
I think he understands the significance. I think part of

(01:51:46):
him UM has kind of I don't know slowed down
is the right word. But the whole pursuit of of
Jordan's and being the best. I think he's kind of
gotten to a point just just based on the way
he talks, what he says, and uh, I feel like
he just kind of knows it like it is what
it is. I'm not going to be able to convince
everybody or maybe even the largest population that, um, I

(01:52:09):
was better than Mike and and so I think he's
looking at just the whole big picture of what he
wants his legacy to be as to who he is
because la Bonn has always been a phenomenal guy off
the court in terms of the things that he does
and the cure that he has for people. So I
just think he's gonna stay home. Great stuff. Lamar. By
the way, I need to get your list here. All
time favorite NBA player, Uh, Penny Hardaway NFL. UM. You know,

(01:52:34):
I I just by default because I'm not a huge
NFL guy, Warren Moon because I grew up in US
in Texas college football, so they do I have to
go am I allowed to go college football and think
you can go college football? Um. And I want to
say it's the favorite guy is maybe the most exciting
for me to watch Reggie Buss. I was at Organ
State when Reggie Bushes at USC and I haven't seen
anything like the guy college basketball, your favorite college basketball player. Man,

(01:52:56):
that's how really done. This gets harder by the question. Um,
you know a guy that was impressionable on me for
for some reason when I was younger, when I was
in high school, Watson him play was Scooney pan o
s Yeah, I played. He played again, you're younger than
me in in it used to be in a U basketball.

(01:53:16):
The two big tournaments were Vegas and Phoenix, and they're
back to back. He played on a team that's the
only team I know of that one Vegas and Phoenix
back to back to beat us in Vegas in the Yeah. Yeah.
Another point guard with him, Eggie McCrae. And then they're
big guy. I would say Jackson, like Randall Jackson or something.
He went to Florida State. But yeah, Scoon he was.
Scoon is a bad boys back into Ohiose State now, Um, yeah,

(01:53:42):
just I think just just just getting back there. He's
doing developmental coaching last year. Now he's on staff Major
League Baseball. Fair player. Uh, Jeff Bagwell, you go like
all Houston that I could do? I kept listen. I
didn't have cable you didn't have my wife, didn't my
wife young kid? I mean things of fading since them.
But it was rough all right. So there's no NHL.

(01:54:07):
Don't boxing boxing, favorite boxer all time. I love watching
Mike and it p g A. Don't have one. Just say, Tiger,
well you don't, you don't, you don't have you didn't
have cable? Did you watch fake wrestling as a kid?
Oh all the time? That was Ultimate Warrior, Ultimate warrior?

(01:54:31):
We have not an Ultimate Warrior? Or don't take the
snake just because just to see the snake come out?
Um tennis, um tennis. I don't have one either, but
I did start watching a little more closely when the
Williams sisters hit the scene. Great stuff, Fialance catch ups
in person real so I like it. Man sounds good.
That's the voice of Lamar heard. You can check them

(01:54:52):
out on on Comcast Sports Net Northwest. That is just
that's a lot that youn put on a business card.
Cars are a lot like sp Arts. You got out
the right tools you want to go go far. Luckily,
auto Zone as a free loaned tool program with over
a hundred specially tools to get the job done right.
Stopping to day deposits required getting the zone auto zone.
Here's Dan Buyer Yeah. Game one of the NBA Finals

(01:55:13):
nine Eastern tiph tonight. Kevin Love will be available for
the Calves as they faced the Warriors as he has
cleared kid cushion protocol. Welcome back, Clayton Kershaw the Dodgers pitch.
You're gonna return from the ten dad d l from
bis hips tendonitis. He'll pitch this afternoon against the Phillies.
First pitch coming up in a little more than an
hour or so. Kershaw has missed almost a month because
of that tenanitis. Tigers beat the Angels six to two

(01:55:34):
a's and raised playing in Oakland. Right now five nothing
a's in the bottom of the seventh inning, Serena Williams
want to second round match over seventh teen seed Ashley
Barty in three sets at the French Open and stop
seed Raphael Naidal advancing to the third round. Tiger one
was even part of the memorial seven back of the leaders,
including Abraham Answer who has at seven under. Some other
players of note Rory McIlroy one over part through sixteen

(01:55:57):
ass Phil Michelson, Jordan's speeed right now two over part
through sixteen. Delaware the first new states to offer sports betting.
They'll do so starting on Tuesday. Thank you, Dan, Doug
Gotlick Show, Fox Sport Trader. It's working, Mike and Cincinnati. Mike,
let's work through your list really quickly. Your favorite NBA
player all time is who? Hello, Doug, Hello, Mike. Your

(01:56:19):
favorite NBA player all time as home, Well, I'm gonna
have to say NBA player keim Ma lajah one came
the dream college basketball player. Favorite NFL player Jim Brown,
Jim Brown's batman, favorite college football player. Who I'm gonna
say Doug Flutie Doug Flutie Flakes, favorite Major League Baseball

(01:56:43):
player all time, My favorite all round player, Pete Rouse,
Pete Rose. Favorite NHL player, okay, uh, favorite boxer all time?
M hmm, gotta be Ali. Favorite golfer Jack. You sound
like your Ohio born and bred. I know you're in Cincinnati. Um,

(01:57:04):
wrestless fake wrestler? And what about tennis? Tennis? I'm gonna
say Jimmy Cutters. All right, I really appreciate the call.
Thanks for listening to Mike. Mike and Cincinnati. We're guessing,
Mike mid fifties Midif you think older, I don't think
older midf This is how it This is how it

(01:57:27):
works with like those the Long Island mediums. Right, they
ask a bunch of other questions and they'd be like, Oh,
he's from Cincinnati, he's been fifties, he likes sports, he's
he's since any but he's willing to say Jim Brown
because Jim Brown is the greatest. But he's in Cleveland.
So he kept it with Ohio kind of something like that. Right,
the greatest of all time is in action today, but

(01:57:48):
it's not who you think. I'll explain next. Online shopping
can be confusing, well not anymore. With True Price from
True Car, now you can know the jack price you'll
pay for your next car. So visit True Car and
enjoy more confident car buying experience. Doug Gottlieb show Box

(01:58:14):
Sports Radio. Mm hmmm, yes, Ryan Music, Mike and Cincinnati
just called back over under fifty five. You're saying, oh,
I'm saying right at that would be my over under. Okay,
So fifty six over under, No, I mean that's I mean,

(01:58:37):
I'll go he said, fifty five, I'll go over over
What was it he was sixty little, so I mean
Alex and I want to give the guy benefit of the
the doubt. It's like, it's like when you're working at
a bar, you want to always card all the women
you know. Or if you walk up on somebody and
you're like, oh, is that your sister? When it's clearly
the mom, right, you don't want to go like, oh,

(01:58:58):
your mom. Or we walk up on a woman he's like, oh,
how many months pregnant? You don't want to do that.
I don't want to. I don't want to age a
guy too much. But I did think that he was
in theft and up sort of category category. Sean and Florida,
you're on the Dug Gottlieb Show. Sean, give me your list.
Let's start. Favorite NBA player all time. Hey man, this

(01:59:20):
is the greatest list ever. I'm arguing with myself on
all these so favorite NBA player Dominique Wilkins, m favorite
NFL player beyond Sanders prime Time. Favorite college football player
Charlie Ward, Florida State Fast Break on Turf. Favorite college

(01:59:41):
basketball player Charlie Ward, Oh is that what? Oh? Wait,
wait a minute, wait a minute? Or Bob Bob Rich
Chapter Bob, Bob, you gotta go. But I love Bob,
Sir Bob Surah. Most underrated, bouncy white dude of all
the time, kid from Pennsylvania, and and he had a
he had a mean streak in him too. I'll loved him. Uh.
Major League Baseball hairy player, Dale Murphy? Dale Murphy, how's

(02:00:05):
he not in the Hall of Fame? Doesn't make any
sense to me? Man, I don't know. He was the
he was the he won two in the night. He
was like the best player of the eighties and the
two deer stretch he came up to home run short.
In my opinion, he didn't age well. That's why he
didn't make the alls. I get well because he didn't
do steroids like other guys that did. And he was
on crummy Braves team back when the Braves used to
be horrendous and we used to used to have to

(02:00:27):
watch them on Superstation WTVS. Right, but he's my favorite player,
right him, him and Mark Grayson in baseball that he
was went to my high school and we used to
watch them every afternoon here in southern California. Okay, uh, NHL,
you got one. Mario Lemieux, cool p g a, oh
Tiger fake wrestling. Oh man, you almost gotta go thunder

(02:00:50):
lips Hogan. And then what about the tennis? You know what,
I'm gonna go to new school on this one instead
of Sam for I'm gonna go Novac Joseph's I love um,
which which brings me to Robert Floores a new works
form movie. Nowhe because the greatest line calls, there's Novak
Novak after Djokovic, Right, that's I just I love that line.

(02:01:11):
Thanks so much for the call. I appreciate it. Um.
This is I love the arguing with yourself because I
found myself. I oh, I should have put that. I
should have done that, but it is. It is fast.
Here's the question I didn't want to ask him. I'll
ask you, guys, Hot lips Hogan. Is that also Hollywood
and Hulk Hogan is the same guy? I just right,

(02:01:32):
I don't know. I never watched wrestling. I don't I
don't know fire. Do you know? I think it's the same,
but I'm probably in the same. Sorry, I watched sports
for a living. Cars are a lot like sports. You
gotta have the right tools to if you want to
go far. Luckily, Auto Zone is a free loan of
tool program with over Hunter especially tools to get the

(02:01:53):
job done right. Stopping today depositives required getting the zone
auto zone, Dan Buyer, sorry to pinch you on time.
What's in the press? Tiger Woods even part chevity to
today's seven shots back in the first round of the Memorials.
But it was it was a grinder, right, He started
out terrible and grinded his way to even part. Yeah,
it was three over par on the par five's on
the first nine that he played, but I had three
straight birdies on the back. In fact, this is what

(02:02:15):
Tiger said. I have days like that. You know, it's
just you know, my back is fused, and that's I'm
gonna have days where it's just tight. And unfortunately today
was one of those days. And that's all right. You know,
I don't have any pain, thank god. So that was
Tiger type. I don't have any pain. Man. What was
that that his glutes weren't activating? Ah, that was me,

(02:02:37):
by the way, A wide receiver. Retired wide receiver Steve
Smith said that with first overall pick Baker Mayfield of
the Bronze for a conversation, then this happened. If you
could play another position. What would it be and why? Yeah,
I want to say receiver, but I think I want
to play safety safe. I would run you over you

(02:02:59):
were safe. No, I'm making my job to go hit you.
And you can do a lot of things, but that
is Me've gonna accomplish it. I will run you over
and then you over and the ball right next to me. Yeah,
that's just disrespectful. I'm a disrespectful coming due and I
like that. Yeah. Oh Smith Smith, well the all time

(02:03:22):
like not great guys, but somehow he was a really
good player anyway. Eagles guard Brandon Brooks told Bleeding Green
Nation that he almost retired after playing for Bill O'Brien
and Houston, Connecting O'Brien to his Patriot days, Brooks explaining,
I almost retired. I was miserable every day every day.
Yeah whatever, Yeah, because you played in Houston. You know

(02:03:45):
how it is New England. That's awesome that that's like,
that's like people who are like, look, I lived in
San Francisco, so I know what it's like in Los Angeles. No,
it's just the same stake and Doug Cavs Warriors tonight,
Kevin loved good to go for Game one, not a
clock Eastern Times bag it out there and pressed that
was the press. Who wins by how many? Rye music.
I will go Warriors by double digits. Okay, that the

(02:04:09):
line is twelve and a half, John Rambos, I think
this is the Calves chance. I say, Calves by three,
Calves by Calves win, Yes, by three, Calves win by three?
All right, what do you by Warriors by nine? I got,
I got Warriors by less than twelve and a half.
I think it's a I think it's a close game. Uh,
it's a close game that the Warriors do close out
and win single digits. All right. Tomorrow Christophers are Ryan

(02:04:31):
Hollins will join us. We'll break down Game one of
the NBA Finals. This is the Doug Gottlip Show, Fox
