Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Thread is a new hit podcast from Ozzi Media
that explores history surprising connections in order to discover how
one thing leads to another, like how movie moguls in
early Hollywood helps spark the me Too movement. Today, get
it on I Heart Radio or wherever you listen. You're
listening to Fox Sports Radio and John ramosus hera as well.

(00:23):
What a day, What a day. It's the final day
of group play of the World Cup. We've got big
NFL news coming down and big news in the NBA.
But but Jonahs, it's an even bigger day here at
Fox Sports Radio. You want to know why Why is that? Daniel, Well,
it's because it's like one day this like every summer,

(00:45):
they bring ice cream to the you know, I Heart
Radio family, and it is the one year anniversary of
John Ramo's requesting Mocha chocolate chip for his ice cream.
Remember that, Remember it was gonna be chocolate, vanilla or strawberry.
John's like, I'll have the Mocha bean chocolate chip. Like.

(01:06):
They brought one hundred kinds of flavors to I Heeart
Media in the I Heart Radio stations here and presented
them to all of us to choose. It was like
Baskin Robbins times three in John's mind, when really it
was just a It was vanilla chocolate and I think strawberry.
I don't know what kind of John, what kind did
you want? Last year? Was in a mint chocolate chip?

(01:28):
Or I don't I don't like mint, but it was
a chocolate chip, yes, a moocha chocolate chip or something.
And I said it with a lot of with a
lot of like positively, like hey, Dan, just grab me
some mocha choca chip please? Yeah? Yeah, Jonas, would you
like chocolate vanilla? It's not It's not the first time.
John actually, Um, when he went to the All Star
Game in San Diego with a Fox Sports radio a

(01:51):
couple of years ago, they got a ma rental car.
They got nice enough to get a rental car. You
just pick it up there at the rental car station. Um,
you know you'd figure out hun day would do? John
walked up and asked for a Lamborghini. Very very bizarre,
very very demanding guy. I thought, maybe a Civic, you know,
something small, something a little roomy in the back. But no,
you gotta have a Lambeaux or Porsche. John wanted his

(02:12):
with a sugar cone as well. That's but unfortunately just
didn't work out for him. The big news of the
day are the reports, and there are more than one report,
but the big one from Adrian Warzanowski and Ramona Shelbourne
for ESPN saying that the San Antonio Spurs are talking
with the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers on a

(02:33):
trade for Kawai Leonard. And now this is advances the story, Jonas,
because we had heard last week that the Lakers reached
out to the San Antonio Spurs about a Kawaii deal,
and sources told ESPN that the Spurs shut the door
pretty quickly on the Lakers. That now does not seem
to be the case, as these sides are engaging in
conversations about a possible trade. Um yeah, and you're hearing

(02:56):
about these. Was it Sam Ammick who said it was
a Godfather d that was out there that that the
Lakers have put together for Kawuahi Leonard. It feels like
that's the first thing that's got to happen in order
for anything else to happen. Um And and it's almost
like having the Celtics as part of this could only
help the Spurs, right, because then it puts pressure and

(03:17):
the Lakers feel a legitimate threat because if there is
a team out there that has the assets to trade
and could trade them and welcome in a guy and
and convince a guy on wanting to stay there with
tradition and everything else to go along with it, it's
the Celtics. So having the Celtics there is only going
to help San Antonio. I think yeah, I think it

(03:38):
helps the Spurs because the Celtics have pieces and the
Celtics are a whole another story and what they would
want to do and how they would want to proceed.
But if Kawai Leonard was thought to be going to
l a via free agency in many people thought all
the Lakers, Lakers will just waited out while get traded
somewhere and then he'll just end up going to the Lakers.

(04:02):
In nineteen, But when we heard Magic Johnson talk about
their free agency and how they approach it in twenty nineteen,
and really the reaction Jonas to the things that he
said earlier this week where he was criticized for saying,
there's no pressure. We're gonna get some, you know, if
I don't get something done in two years, then then
I'm gonna step down. A lot of the fan backlash

(04:23):
seemed to be like, you better get something done, you better,
you better do something in free agency over these next
two years. And then Jonas yesterday when there was another
report that Lebron wanted another piece in place with the
Lakers if you were to join l a that seemed
to put the pressure on the Lakers. And as you
said with Boston now in in conversations at least with

(04:45):
San Antonio, the Lakers are gonna have to do whatever
they have to do and probably severely overpaid for Kauai
Leonard just because of what would come on the back
end of all of this. We talked about this yesterday.
It is crazy the amount of power Lebron James has
in this league. He is making one of the all
time greats in Magic Johnson, one of the smoothest operators

(05:06):
that there is, act in an unnatural fashion. Magic doesn't.
He's not a desperate guy. Okay, when when Magic walks
into your door and once and as an idea about
running a business, you listen, because he's the guy he
is now In a couple of other instances throughout the
course of three days, talked and bragged about himself, almost

(05:28):
a show. I'm not nervous, you're nervous. Uh. He's now
desperately trying to facilitate a trade, considering gutting his roster
to do so for a guy that what do you mean?
I thought he was just gonna go there in free
agency anyways, Like this is all about Lebron James determining
the fates of other people around. His impact is crazy

(05:50):
on this league and the amount of great players that
he has impacted throughout the course of his career. Here
we are in the off season. He's doing it again.
He could change the fortune of two franchises just by
threatening to stay put in Cleveland if a move isn't made.
It's crazy. I look at Paul George as well as Jonas.

(06:11):
Is is something that apparently the Lakers don't want to
wait three days that they that where they they could
start free agency on July one, end up having an
agreement with Paul George in place, and guess what, that's
the piece that Lebron would also want to think. Lebron
wants a piece there, he wants another player there with him.
But now the Lakers are so freaking out thinking like, well,

(06:34):
if we can't convince Paul George to play and basically
his hometown for the team that he always cheered for,
we're gonna have to go against Kawhi Leonard. It is
it is amazing to see what he has done because
in my mind, and I said it yesterday, I thought
the Spurs would take their time with this, that they
would they would have to figure out a plan. Yeah,
they wanted to go. The Spurs are now, I guess,

(06:55):
as we see on on a more of a time crunch,
knowing that that Lebron's saying what he said maybe makes
their value more so than ever with with Boston in
as as we touched on just a few minutes ago.
So now the Spurs are kind of like, Okay, I
guess we do have to deal. We do have to
deal Kauhi Leonard. But I just thought that Paul George

(07:17):
going to l a was a foregone conclusion. To think
that the Lakers aren't gonna wait for Paul George. Maybe
Oklahoma City is a real thing. I never thought it was,
but I would just think of the Lakers were so
convinced that Paul George was coming to town. They wouldn't
have to, They wouldn't be so heavily heavily pursuing Kawhi
Leonard because that means Lebron would be coming on the
back end. Maybe they're just freaked out and and and

(07:38):
the Lakers are just doing whatever they can to to
try to make a move, to show that they are
doing something. And look to us, and we grew up
watching Magic Johnson and those great players. And because we
never played in the league and we don't have the
options that those guys have to us, Magic Johnson walks
in and says, I want you you list. That guy's

(07:59):
an all time great. But if you actually look at
it from the standpoint of these players and their egos
and all the things they've accomplished and when they grew
up and who they idolized, how do we know they
look at Magic Johnson with the same sort of you know, wow,
and and and and so impressed by his aura and
everything about him that we do just because we're on

(08:22):
the outside. It's like people talk about, man, we're gonna
get Miami Hurricane football back. It's gonna be back, baby,
They're gonna bring the U back. Man, that's the team
we grew up rooting for Yeah, that's cool and all,
but when you're recruiting eighteen year old kids, understand that
the last time they won a national title, those kids
were five years old. They didn't grow up with Miami football.
We did, so we think it's a bigger deal than

(08:44):
it actually is. I wonder how much of this is
starting to become a reality to Magic Johnson, and that's
why he's getting aggressive. I thought I could sell myself
and this organization to a guy like Paul George who
grew up locally here in southern California. And if I
can't land him, who the hell can I land? Yeah?
And it shows to the point of is when we

(09:06):
started out the show and you you mentioned Lebron James
is making Magic a little nervous show. You may show
you the brand of what you've got. By the way,
with the sam Amic reports, Sam joins us yesterday. Of
course he covers the NBA for the USA today. When
you look at what the Lakers are supposedly offering san
Antonio deal that they can't refuse the pieces that would

(09:30):
would go to san Antonio, I've sent our spots that
that wouldn't be needed, like brandon Ingram and Kyle Kuzma.
For as great as Kuzmo was in his rookie year
and what brandon Ingram was developing in those are two
spots that would be taken by Khi Leonard and Lebron
James or Paul George and Lebron James. So there's so
there's no worry about losing those guys because you're just

(09:53):
putting two versions that are probably better, or that are
better since they probably better, that are better. So like
training those guy is to me, isn't as big of
a deal if if I'm the Los Angeles Lakers, because
of what you're getting in return, I don't know what
l A has that would be too much for them
to offer. I mean a couple of first round picks.
What do you think of the first round picks? If

(10:13):
you have Kawai and Lebron James already, they're going to
be in the twenties. So this this offer that the
Spurs can't refuse, no matter how big it is from
l A. I don't think it can be big enough
to bring in Kawhi letter because then it also means
you bring in Lebron James. There's also an aspect to
the idea that they were building this so much through
the draft. That kind of felt different and and I

(10:34):
don't know if that they're falling into. I mean, Lebron's
path to championships has always been fine, great players form
a super team. That's what worked for him, So that's
what he's doing. But if you were to think about
two of the most successful organizations in the NBA right
now as far as drafting, um moves they make in
free agency, coaching, etcetera, Golden State in Boston would go

(10:58):
to the top of the list as far as who's
set up for success long term, who's made who's had
really good success in the draft and built from within
and had smart free agent signings. Golden State in Boston,
they've done that through the draft, and it almost feels
like the Lakers were starting to take that path to
where you could have sustainability for a long time, and

(11:19):
now because Lebron James is available, they're ready to scrap
all that and go super team method again. And I
wonder if we're starting to see that that way isn't
as effective as we thought it was, and maybe that's
dying out and this is a new way I mean,
it's a copycat league. So back when Lebron was doing it,
other teams tried to do it. But I wonder if
that's the most successful way to do it. And can

(11:40):
you grab a couple of guys, a couple of veterans,
and do you still feel better about your chances to
be Golden State? I just don't. I don't see it.
I look at and and through the draft, at least
with with the Lake, I mean the Lakers. Heck, Julius
Randall was a topic and now I may not be
a Laker anymore if he ends up moving on after
this year. The Angelo Russell was a was a pick

(12:01):
that they ended up missing on and ended up having
to trade him to just get rid of timofew Moskov's contract. Yeah,
while Golden State and and and Boston hit at least
not a good portion that they were getting, you know, contributions,
The Lakers had some mrs early, so these later ones,
while they hit, they weren't adding up to what Golden
State in Boston had because they missed on some of
the guys that they just didn't get the value that

(12:22):
they needed. And and maybe that's why they're now. They're
they're going and and it also it could just be this.
It's Lebron freaking James, and and when it comes down
to it, you get him if you can, Dan Buyer,

at Farmers dot com. A six time All Star, one

(13:08):
of the great players in his time, was gonna be
joining you next here on Fox Sport Train, I'm Dan Buyer.
That's Jonas Naxie. As John Ramo says, we are in
for Doug today, trying to sort out what is going
on with NBA free agency. With Lebron James being available,
we think we haven't gotten an official word of whether

(13:29):
he is opting in or out of his contract with
the Cleveland Cavaliers. We didn't get official word. Paul George
is opting out of his contract, so he is a
free agent opting out with the Oklahoma City Thunder. And
of course, the big news of the day is a
report from ESPN saying that the Spurs have engaged in
trade talks with the Lakers and Celtics about a deal

(13:49):
that would include Kawai Leonard being the main piece. So
you look at it from the Lakers point of view,
and for a team that looked to be in the
driver's sea, that seems like a lot of other factors
are now dictating what they are going to do this
offseason and move forward and moving forward? Would you rather
talk NBA free agency rumor mill or go back to

(14:11):
having to recap the NBA Finals? The rumor mill is
so much Yeah, it's it's so much better. And the
other thing is with the rumor mill is you get
two sides of the story. Because a perfect example is
that just saw on Twitter a little while ago that
Lebron James doesn't need Kawhi Leonard to be in l
A was a report, so now you've got all these

(14:33):
reports going back and forth, and who knows, maybe that's
a Paul George source sort of thing that ends up
leaking out. But it just goes on and on. Speaking
of going on and going on strong for its second season,
the Big Three and the Big Three Week two is
gonna bring professional three at three basketball to the United
Center in Chicago coming up Friday, games broadcast live on
Fox be giving beginning at seven o'clock Central Time. Yes

(14:56):
from the Windy City. For tickets, visit Big three dot com.
Taking part as a member of Try State wanted. Also
far on this fresh new season, six time NBA All
Star mar Stondomyer joining us here on Fox Sports Radio. Hey, Amary,
thanks so much and taking the time, No problem, Thanks
for having me. Let's let's quickly ask you about what
happened last week, because you guys take down last year's

(15:17):
champion in the Big Three in taking down Trilogy. What
was it like for the for the first week to
get into the swing of things. Is your Try State
team was able to uh to run over trilogy and
end up getting a big game one win. Yeah, it
was fun, man. You know the atmosphere the Big Three
is It's pretty incredible. You know, familists can bring out
that child has been enjoy really a four day of

(15:39):
basketball and get a chance to see some some of
the their parents and even some of the kid's favorite players. Um.
And then but the game itself was awesome. I think
it was ran very well, It's very organized and uh
what was able to get their first win the first weekend? Amari?
What's the plan for you? Is this something that you
look at, is more just having a good time or

(16:00):
is the long term plan to get back into the NBA? Well,
the long the long term plan is the NBA. Short
that's definitely golden mind, uh for this this summer. But
but the Big Three is also a platform that allows
me to stay in shape, stay sharpen my game and
then also keeps stay around around my friends and to

(16:21):
do that commodity. When you left the NBA, what what
did you miss about it? Well? I left the NBA
for one reason I always had a golden mine is
that I wanted to live overseas. I wanted to live
abroad eventually. Um, and so I was able to to
to someone accompass that, and so that was my main
objective and one thing I missed the most I think

(16:43):
about the NBA. It's just the fact of just as
the commodity being around your guys, being around the competitive
state of the sport. You know, when you played the
game of basketball, man, you want to compete. And that's
that's one thing I've I've missed. I'm already Statemre with
us here on Fox Sports Radio six time NBA All Start.
He's the captain of the Big Three team, Try State
Dan Buyer, Jonas Knox in for Doug gottlieb Um. When

(17:06):
you're watching the NBA nowadays, do you think it's in
a good place from a game standpoint, with all the threes,
with it feeling like it's it's now spread and it's
become an outside in game. Do you feel like it's
in a better place now than when you were playing? Yeah,
I think again, I think the game is all it
has evolved since I was playing. I mean, I know

(17:26):
a lot of a lot of the teams now are
pointing similar to how we played by the Phoenix, which
is up tim fall style of play, and it's like
a first little game. It's best. It's my style to play,
you know, being a being a first little big in
his league. You know, I was going to take advantage
of those opportunities. Not think the NBA now as a whole.

(17:47):
It starts the same Amara Stoomar joining us here at
Fox Sports Radio. He's Jonas Knocks. I'm Dan Buyer. When
you talk about your time with the Phoenix Suns, did
you need another player with you and Steve Nash to
complete a big three? Because that's what we seem to
talk about so much now in the NBA. Looking back,
do you say, if we just had that one other
guy that things could have been a lot different? How

(18:08):
do you look back at those years, Phoenis, No, we
had we had a we had a we had a
profound team of phenix. You know, we had a Hall
of Fame point Buard, Steve Nash. Uh, you know we
we we've built around uh, Steve and myself to to
create this new style of play. And so um, I
think I think from those moments of Phoenix, we had

(18:30):
we had all the pieces that we needed. UM, so
we have fun plan. What was it your knee was that?
What do you think derailed it? Or what derailed it
in Phoenix? What didn't allow you guys to take that
next step to go to an NBA finals and win
a title. Everyone wants to say my knee, and it's
then that that has nothing to do with the fact
that we still went to the Western Commence Finals four

(18:51):
times and we and we still was able to to
build Hall of Fame careers. So a lot of people
like the point in mind me as if something were
wrong there, but it wasn't. The fact that matter is
we're just to have enough defense on both you know,
with with those teams to win championships. What's the most
difficult Marie Stodamyer with U Year on Fox Sports Trading,
what's the most difficult aspect to being an NBA player

(19:14):
or a professional basketball player that most people don't talk
about something that you guys know as players, but we
don't know as media or fans. I think the I
think the travel is probably the the one thing that's
a lot of plans men I realized because when you travel,
you play a game. It's a clock at night in Chicago,
that's just said, and again it's over around ten eleven

(19:37):
by the time he gets to your plane to fly out.
You don't get to your next city until to two
o'clock In the morning. By the time you get to bed,
it's gonna be three o'clock during the morning and you
have a game the following day. Um, and so your
body it takes time for your body to adjust with
the app to the flying and and so forth. So
those are the things I think stands may not understand
about the travel and schedule the NBA. Do you like

(19:59):
what free edge see has become in the NBA? And
what I mean by that is, by all, today we've
been talking about Lebron James and how he may want
a piece in l A and then then the Spurs
may try to deal with the deal Kauai Leonard to
l A because they don't want to lose him via
free agency and the issues there. Do you like that
portion of the NBA? Are Are you intrigued at all

(20:19):
by it? As a former player? You know what? The
freetency has always been kind of an interesting thing for
the especially the off seasons because most of seasons go
with the ANBA. We kind of get into a somewhat
of a draft there and in Sporting Willess fan um
and so um. I think I think it's entertaining, you know,

(20:39):
for for for basketball and inbate players to be on
the type of everybody's mind, even during the off season.
When's the last time you saw an NBA player sign
a contract and you thought to yourself, how the hell
that guy get that kind of money? I see it
all the time. I see all it's on and it's

(21:00):
not it's not the player's falls the GM who actual
uh construct over those. But well, yeah, I see all
the time Mari Stodem I remember a Try States they
will take on ball Hogs coming up tomorrow in Chicago.
Let's wrap up with this. You talked to you mentioned
you're you're trying to come back to the NBA. Are
you going back to Israel? Is that gonna happen after

(21:22):
the Big Three? Or what is the plan as you
try to get back to the association? Yeah? I think
I think if if um with the Association, I think
there is a very hot chance to be possibly being
back in the Association next season. Um. But if that,
if that doesn't happen, then I will probably go back
over and play Fortugals. Well, if you want to see
a Mari Stodomer, you can see him tomorrow night in

(21:43):
Chicago on Foxes. Try State ends up taking on the
ball Hogs seven o'clock Eastern time, but leave six o'clock
Central is when it starts. I was incorrect for tickets
to visit Big three dot com. Amory, We appreciate the time,
Thank you, Marie Stottemyer uh Dan Buyer Jonas knocks in
for Doug Gottlieb here on Fox Sports Radio. Coming up

(22:06):
next here on fs R, SO an NFL quarterback. Apparently
he lied and now he's trying to tell the truth
and it's all very confusing. We're going to get to
the bottom of it here coming up next on FSR.
But for all the latest from around the world of sports,
ladies and gentlemen. Steve Disager, Good afternoon, gentlemen. It is
the final day, final half hour of group play at

(22:27):
the World Cup and currently on Fox TV. Belgium as
a one nothing lead over England in the seventy third minute.
Belgium could be finishing three and oh and therefore winning
the group and could be playing Japan next round. Each
team was sitting starters. Each we know after a two
and oh start was already going to be advancing through
the round of sixteen and two teams that are just
playing out the string. Tunisia has taken a two one

(22:49):
lead over Panama that game. In the seventy second minute earlier,
Poland shut out Japan one nothing, but Japan still advances
based on a new tiebreaker. Columbia eliminated Senegal one nothing.
Tampa Bay quarterback Jamis Winston was officially suspended three games
for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy. Tiger Woods is
golfing in Maryland, and he's now too overpart through his

(23:11):
first seven holes, so nine back of the leader. Fellow
American Andrew Landry shot a seven under sixty three in
his first round. The baseball first Mattenee that's the final
is Arizona's win at Miami for nothing. Zach Granky gets
the victory. A's lead top of the ninth for two
at Detroit Twins at White Sox scoreless in the top
of the fifth inning, and at Dodger Stadium, Clayton Kershaw

(23:34):
on the mound for l A scoreless after one against
the Cubs. It's Mariners at Orioles, scoreless, top of the second.
Baltimore the worst team in the majors at twenty three
and fifty six. The Angels have lost five in a row.
They're playing at Boston Tonight show. Hey Otani of the
Halos can resoom batting practice now. His fitness to pitch, though,
will be reevaluated in three weeks. He's got the elbow

(23:54):
ligament problem. Back to you, Thank you very much. Steve
Summers here, which means it's time to get to the ballpark.
But without a working car battery, you'll be watching from
the couch. Luckily, Auto Zone offers free battery testing, so
you could be a part of the action. With free
services from Ato Zone, you can't lose get in the zone.
Auto Zone. This is the Doug Gottlieb Show. That's Jonahs Knocks.
I'm Dan Buyer. He is John Ramos. You know Dan.

(24:14):
Steve mentioned a score in his update. I believe it
was Who's who's the Beata beat Senegal? Steve? Who's at
the beat him? Columbia? Oh you mean you mean the
Columbia from Narcos? Is that what we're talking about, Steve?
That's your favorite team this weekend? Good Steve. Little Narcos

(24:35):
theme about that? Should I tell my vacation story? Absolutely not? There,
all right there, It is just I'm in the dark.
I don't know is it was there on a vacation Steve.
Steve had a very offensive vacation story and just Steve
wilding out of vacation. It's very bizarre. Some people are
fans of Columbia. That's yes. They a lot of snow

(24:57):
in Columbia. Dan, if you are interesting in Oh, maybe
this is an off air. Maybe this will be for
the podcast that John and Steve do after the show
with Steve Ramos Steve Drama. By the way, that's actually
a great name for a podcast, Our four. Yeah, I
think that's a really gonna marr down our four podcast.

(25:24):
Jamis Winston officially got his three game band today. How
about that? Initially notified by the NFL. Jamis Winston releasing
a statement, the Buccaneers quarter right saying a little late, Mike,
but that's all right, the Buccaneers quarterback saying, the NFL
informed me today that I will be suspended for the
first three games of the season. First and foremost, I

(25:47):
would like to say I'm sorry to the Uber driver
for the position I put you in. It is un
characteristic of me, and I genuinely and apologize. In the
past two and a half years, my life has been
filled with experiences, opportunities and events that have helped me grow,
mature and learned, including the fact that I have eliminated
alcohol from my life. That's part of the statement from
Jamis Winston. He blamed his actions on the drinking um

(26:10):
if this sort of thing, I don't think this is
uncharacteristic considering the cast that have been going on. So
when I read that statement, I don't know how that
can be factually correct. But this is a This is
another reason why there's one more mess up for Jamis Winston.
With alcohol or not without alcohol will be suspended for
an entire year by the NFL. So when he denied

(26:31):
it the first time, he lied, Yeah yeah, yeah yeah,
So so he lied and then now he's saying that
he gave up the alcohol and uh he apologized. Okay,
here here's Ben Roethlis. We've seen this before. Ben Roethlis
prograd two sexual assault claims against him early in his career,
and it got to the point to where the Steelers

(26:52):
they didn't consider cutting him, but he was on the
trade block and they had conversations with teams. I remember
it specifically back then that they were talking about potentially
trading and because they weren't sure whether or not the
guy could get it right. If it turns out that
Jamis Winston gets it together and if and if not
drinking or whatever he thinks is going to be the
help that he needs, that's fine. But just understand that.

(27:14):
It's like when you're you're told from a mentor or
some an uncle, mother, a father that your actions can
affect other people around you. Understand that he just got
his head coach fired. Like, let's just let's acknowledge that.
Because if we know the numbers, and the numbers tell
you that if you go into an NFL season, and

(27:34):
you start off that NFL season oh and two, less
than eleven percent of teams the last decade plus go
on to make the playoffs. Is dirt Cutter still around
if the Buccaneers don't make the playoffs? Probably not. And
so you're going into battle with Ryan Fitzpatrick against the Saints,
against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and against the Philadelphia Eagles without

(27:57):
your starting quarterback. Pack up your stuff. Yeah, I think
it's interesting from the Winston angle of just of his
tenure in Tampa because and you're right, remember dirt Cutter
was brought in because I think they were afraid they
were going to lose him as a head coach. Yeah,
so they cut out. They cut out love Smith ended

(28:18):
up promoting Dirt Cutter because you also had your first
overall pick invested in Jamis Winston that you didn't want
to lose that relationship, and it was a relationship that
I thought was was curious from the fact of I
always think that if you have an offensive coordinator with
a young quarterback, it's best to have a defensive coach

(28:39):
because the defense, the defensive minded coach ends up focusing
on defense. It allows the quarterback to not make mistakes,
and the offensive coordinator could just sit there and focus
on the quarterbacks dealings first and foremost, and that's the
only thing he has to deal with. When you promote
Dirt Cutter and make him the head coach, I don't
think that helped Jamis Winston's progression. So when you look

(29:00):
at now what the Buccaneers have, and now you've got
a guy that you've committed a fifth year option to
that's gonna pay twenty million dollars, But how in the
world are you gonna want to commit a long term
contract to him? So the entire five years that you
have just spent in trying to build up this organization
with whether it be with Dirt Cutter as your head
coach or Jamis Winston as your starting quarterback. Now there's

(29:21):
a question that all of that is out the window.
Why would you commit a long term deal to Jamis
Winston knowing that these situations are still going on and
as you said, his head coaches isn't gonna be around,
especially in that division when you've got the Falcons, Saints,
and Panthers to deal with. It is a it is
a dire time if you're a Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In
a roundabout way, Uh, Jamis Winston just got an entire

(29:43):
coaching staff fired because he grabbed some woman's crotch. That's
that's the truth. Like, that's that's what's gonna end up
happening here. And I get the whole the idea of
you know, he's young and we make mistakes. But to
your point earlier, this is multiple times he's made bad decisions.
At best, he's a poor decision maker, and it translates

(30:04):
over to the field. Sometimes the guy through a lot
of interceptions in college, he makes dumb throws, Dirt Cutter
on hard knocks last year, was getting visibly frustrated with
him and cursing him out, why are you doing that?
Why are you throwing the ball there? So maybe he's
just got a track record of poor decision making, if
everybody says, but he's a good guy, he works really hard,
all of that stuff. But whether it was what happened

(30:25):
in Tallahassee, which is a whole another conversation altogether, Um,
whether it was after that him standing on a bench
on campus at Florida State saying, grab her by the
bleep or whatever he said, bleep her by the bleep. Um,
the guy just makes bad decisions. And and now he's
You're in a spot to where it's like, all right,

(30:46):
so we start off with here's what they They're starting
off with the defending Super Bowl champions, to Hall of
Fame quarterbacks, three Super Bowl winning head coaches, and you're
doing it with Ryan Patrick Man. I look at it.
They probably would have gone at best one and two

(31:06):
anyway with him there. I don't think they beat the Saints.
I don't think they beat the egos. The Steelers game
at least would be a home game, whether it be
filled with Steeler fans is a different story on a
Monday night football game. But you're oh for three with
with that team and they're the worst team in the
NFC South. It is It is a dire time and
I I just I look at the long term jonas

(31:26):
of all of these teams trying to figure out a plan,
and five years ago, the Buccaneers felt all right, this
is this is going to work out, this is this
is going to be the number one overall pick, and
talent wise, he was he it seemed to fit and
really with Winston's past, Tampa seemed to be the more
logical spot anyway. But when you bring up all of

(31:49):
those red flags and you look at all of the
decisions now and I know that you're not a big
revisionist history guy and saying like, oh, Marcus Mariotos should
have been the number one pick, But when you look
at the decision that Tampa have to make, and that's
all the draft is is how many questions do we
end up asking about these teams? This whole era is
going out the window, and the Buccaneers are gonna have

(32:09):
to start out likely I think a new and ten
because I don't know how you give this guy a
contract extension to be your quarterback in the future. When
he's still flicking the back of a helmet of a
player like he did last season, I don't mind him
running on the field arguing with the referees. We've seen
Tom Brady and other quarterbacks do that, and that he
did I think in a Thursday night of game against
against New England. But it's the stuff of getting into

(32:31):
it with Marshawn Lattimore when you're not even in the game.
It's that stuff that just doesn't make a lot of sense.
It's this uber thing, which I know what happened two
years ago. But when you were trying to analyze him
as a team and trying to you put up all
the red flags and you try to make the most
the smartest decision possible, it's gonna backfire on the box
and they're going to start a new And here's the
other aspect of it. What was the biggest thing when

(32:52):
Odell Beckham started displaying signs of being visibly frustrated or
getting into fights, or slamming his helmet or punching walls
or whatever the case, Maybe all that was was an
indicator of a guy you can rattle easily. And because
you know he understands the idea of if I have
one more outburst, I know what this is going to

(33:13):
turn into. Didn't he already get suspended a game? You
got suspended for the Josh Norman fight. I believe Odell Beckham.
So because of that, every player around the league knows
I can get in that guy's head. I know for
sure I can get in that guy had he's already
played his cards. If you're another if you're an opposing
defensive back or defensive end or a linebacker, you're not
gonna get in Jameis Winston's ear. Every single time you

(33:36):
get an opportunity. Guy makes bad choices, he makes bad decisions.
You can rattle him if you want. And he's just
showcased that to everybody in the league. Buccaneers deserve this
for not going back to the cream. That's that's the
main point. And by the way, did you see I
I tagged you on Twitter yesterday at Dan Buyer on
Fox the Steve Spurrier with the old school Buccaneer's helmet. Man,

(33:56):
they got to bring that back. You know what I
think it is, It's because it looks too much like
Paxton Lynch. They don't want bad they don't want any
of the bad ju ju, you know what I mean?
I love that and that, John Romos, I'm sorry. Can
you tag me to next time? Yeah? What about on Twitter?
The great thing about that helmet it was also from
the other way. It was like from the other side
of and so the face looks a little different than

(34:18):
the usual way that you're used to seeing that logo?
Can we say that as a drop that last question?
John just asked, you might want to rephrase that next time. Um,
there's that movie tag right. Yeah. By the way, you've
seen that, No, don't. Yeah, you're not missing much. By
the way, online car shopping can be confusing, not anymore.

Gottlie Pierre on Fox Sports Radio. Coming up next, it
is a mystery game. You're going to be involved. It's
a little game of guess who involving major people in
the world of sports. That's next. He's Jonas Knox, I'm

(35:02):
dan buy are we are in for Doug? Todays is
John Ramos and John Ramo show coming up in a
little more than ninety minutes or so. You can always
listen to the show on Fox Sports Radio dot Com
Series XM Channel Lady three in the I Heart Radio app.
Now is a fantastic time to buy a new Honda.
Is it chop Honda dot com or visit your local
Honda dealer today. Hey guys, let's play a game. This

(35:26):
is game time on the Doug gott Leave Show. Steve
de Saga is here. Hello Steve, Good afternoon Chans. Once again,
as Jonas plugged last segment, We're gonna play the game. Jess,
guess guess who? So John exactly what? It's gotta be
well produced? Sorry, let's get to Sorry my headphones went

(35:47):
out one more time? John, where we playing? It's not
the only thing that went out. Apparently Steve loves production,
especially when it goes so well. I Number one, Guess
which three time NBA champion has been blowing up Kevin
Durant's cell phone lately? According to Stephen A at least

(36:09):
oh Robert Parish. Yes, yes, very very good guests in chief. Uh, yeah,
it had to be Durant. But Cleveland dot Com, for one,
says sources close to Lebron say did not text Kevin Durant. Also,
that is going to the Lakers would not be sealed
or doomed by whether or not they trade for Kauahi Leonard,

(36:29):
and then reporter Joe Varden adds, Man, we'll all be
better when this is over, one way or another. Here's
here's my question. If you had Kevin Durant's phone number,
how would you put it in your phone? Would you
put full Kevin Durant, would you put k D? Would
you just put Kevin? I'd use the name that Kevin
Durant used on his burner accounts. Oh, you know what

(36:49):
this is. He's attacking people again. This is what Steve does.
I'm sick of it. I would go durantula Dan right
then he searched the d S when you look for
the number the slim Reaper Dan. You could do that
for sure, John, What would you put Kevin Durant on
your phone? D K interesting makes sense? Yeah? For Derry

(37:14):
King Final Belgium one nothing over England. By the way,
we are, we are yea, a minute away from the
group stage being officially over, there's still that FS one
game that's just about done with, you know, have more
guests who But this was a match to be on
the other side of the bracket, like you wanted to
almost lose this match, right, I know, I know you're

(37:34):
playing Columbia or Japan if depending on whether you finished first.
So much better to rather play Japan. Yeah, because Colombia
has all home games essentially with all the yellow clad
fans and all their games in Russia. But that side
of the bracket is a tough one with yeah later rounds,
yeah yeah. But as far as who you're going to
play on what is it? Monday? Tuesday? Is not a

(37:55):
huge huge difference. I mean, just the fact that Columbia
rolls on. It's just more used to play the Narcos theme.
I mean, I see it, but what do I know?
Apparently that's not produced as well. However, it is the
only thing on the page is that in Roy go

(38:15):
to go to John's Wall, Ramos, Ramos, I know too.
Guess which Clippers big Man may actually end up with
the Mavericks avera after all? Guess you guess you can't
get this one right, Michael, Okay, be serious, I'm gonna
go bo bat Mala la la whatever that guy's name is.
First first, Uh, the guy looks like George Merrison on stilts. Yeah, okay,

(38:42):
bobot whatever. Yeah, it's New York Times saying the MAVs
and Clippers are actively engaged in trade scenarios regarding DeAndre Jordan.
L A. Times says the Clippers are still awaiting Jordan's
decision on his player option for next season. I didn't
realize that there were that many bad Clippers centers that
that class came over, and I would I would kill

(39:05):
for a Michael Cage jersey. I Michael Michael Cage for Halloween.
I'm guess which New York Mets pitcher could be made
available and on the market this summer. I don't know, Uh,
syd all right, kind of a trick question. It's actually

(39:26):
Syndergard and Jacob deGrom GM in Newsday says his Mets
will be active as the trade deadline approaches. They will
consider offers for the two stars starters. The gram may
not have to go far just across town. Anybody can
complains to the Warriors with that, like the rich getting richer.

(39:47):
Is that going to be the complaint? The Yankees have
always done it though, I mean there doesn't cross other sports,
I guess yeah. And finally, guess which African country got
knocked out of the World Cup today because of their
dirty play in the tournament? Canada? No Senegal? Is that Columbia?
New tiebreaker rules, same record with Japan, tied head to

(40:11):
head with Japan, same goal differential, same goal scored, I
think as well. So they went to the new what
six thing on the list? More yellow cards by Senegal?
They're out? This is game time on the Duck Gottlieb Show.
Fair play on that car shoppy can be confusing, not

(40:33):
anymore with true press of true card. Now you can
know the exact price you'll pay for your next car.
So it's a true card to enjoy a more confident
car buying experience. Imagine if an NFL team didn't make
the playoffs and the tiebreaker was they had more face
mask penalties, unbelievable. It would be great. And John Ramos
is here as what Ramos? Dan? Uh? You know? Can

(40:57):
you can you please do it? You haven't done with
the past couple of days. Where's the boom? I just
you know, here comes the boom already or not, here
comes the boom. That's Doug usually does that at the
top of the show, but they don't put John in
the imaging, which is totally fine. I don't mind leaving

(41:18):
them out, but I like to that include him. I
like to that include him in it. So I always
just end up saying, in John Ramos, it is the
Doug Gottlieb Show. Yes he's Jonas knocks, I'm Dan Buyer.
That is Jonas. That is John Ramos. Jonas Ramos is uh.
Join us later on Steve Drama and The Steve d
Ramo Show. Hey, looks like the Spurs are talking trade
with the Lakers and Celtics. ESPN reporting that the Spurs

(41:41):
have had discussions with both teams about trading Kawahi Leonard
to either Boston or to Los Angeles, Kauai Leonard wanting
out of San Antonio. There are a bunch of other
reports as well, some saying this happens, some saying that happened.
Sam Amock, a good friend from USA Today who joined
us yesterday, said that the Lakers are ready to get
of the Spurs and offer that they can't refuse. Another

(42:03):
ESPN report says that the Spurs want brandon ingram as
part of the deal if they were to trade with
the Los Angeles Lakers. That's not a report, that's a
no doub that would have to happen. I think for
a trade to get done, so a lot out there.
But the San Antonio Spurs something that I didn't think
was going to happen yesterday when we talked about this
in the near future, let alone within twenty four hours. Now,

(42:26):
I guess actively shopping one Kauhi Leonard well, because San Antonio.
The idea was, why not hold on to him for
as long as you can. You know you're in no
rush to trade him, so why not hold onto him.
But when you find out somebody else is in a rush,
maybe you are enticed to make a move because they're
going to up their offer and get it done with.

(42:46):
From the San Antonio standpoint, are you gonna be able
to get more now for Kauahi Leonard or say at
the trade deadline? And I would think it would be now,
because everybody acknowledges that we're not going to make a
move from at the trade deadline. If we know that
he's going to be gone in two months. Anyways, this
isn't This isn't major league baseball where you're grabbing a

(43:07):
closer and you're trading way a bunch of prospects. Like
we we acknowledge where we're at in the season, so
I think you could get more formed now. All they're
doing is leveraging the idea of Boston being involved in
trade talks, and it enticing the Lakers to continue to
increase their offers so they can get something done before
a quote unquote deadline that was put in place by

(43:28):
Lebron James. So if you're the Spurs, it makes more
sense from that aspect of doing it now that it
would be to wait later on. It's the Lebron James
report that he would want another player in l a
that I think ended up taking this action to another
level just for the simple fact of us. Yeah, as
you said, this now makes the Spurs this time the
the prime time to bargain for deals. But it also

(43:51):
puts pressure on the Lakers to get something done, especially
ahead of free agency starting this weekend. It puts maybe
pressure on the Boston Celtics if they want to get
a player the caliber of Kawai Leonard and maybe not
pay as high of a price. But now with the
Lakers and Celtics in on this Jonas, it puts san

(44:12):
Antonio in a prime position to at least get the
maximum amount of value that they could for a guy that,
as we said, has just one year left on his
current deal. And if it was just the Lakers, and
if it was just the Celtics, the offers that the
Spurs would be getting obviously wouldn't be as great. But
with the pressure on both teams now it works well

(44:32):
for san Antonio and to to try to find pieces,
whether it be current players or whether it be draft picks.
The Lakers and Celtics at least have both of those
where san Antonio could be um could be satisfied because
you could get a decent young player, and you could
get a couple of decent young players and get draft picks.
Boston still has a ton to give up if they

(44:53):
want a Boston's You know, Boston could give you Gordon
Hayward if you if you, if you really wanted, if
you're san Antonio, you now have the ability to ask
that if you if you wanted to, if they really
felt that that that was a piece. So San Antonio
right now, I don't know if three days ago, I
don't know if a day ago we thought that the
Spurs were going to be in a great position, but

(45:14):
now it's probably the best position that they're going to
be able to be in. And also, don't forget that
Danny Age is very smart, and there's a whole another
Celtics angle of that that will get into later on.
But Danny Ange is smart and being smart, he knows
that he can drive up an offer. So just the
threat and knowing that it's magic Johnson and I can't
lose to the Celtics and trying to get this guy,

(45:37):
Danny Ainge may just throw a bunch of stuff out
there that's not even realistic, just to have the Spurs
go back to the Lakers and say, oh, by the way,
they're offering us this and all of TD Bank North Garden. Okay,
well in that case, we'll give you this this you
can have like like that. That's also another aspect of
this whole thing. It's just this deadline that was put

(45:57):
in place. This it's got to be done on uh,
this has got to get done before this time or
else Lebron's not willing to commit to you. That has
really made everybody in the Lakers organization scramble. The Lakers
went into this offseason thinking that they were going to
land the big names this offseason, but in case they didn't,

(46:20):
there's always next year to worry about. Now they're scrambling. Now,
they're now they're looking around going, Okay, what can we
get for this? Um Uh, We'll throw in this, will
add in this piece, and the Spurs are just kind
of sitting back, going, look, this guy doesn't want to
be here anymore. Um Uh, this guy doesn't. He has
no interest in being a member of our organization anymore.
So why don't we just unload him and see if

(46:43):
we can acquire whoever it is we can acquire, whether
it's a bunch of young talent, whether it's draft picks, whatever,
just get as much as you can and grind and
leverage the Celtics being involved as much as you can.
I look at this, this landscape of what Magic Johnson
said two days ago, and Johnny, I don't know if
you can find it. Um if because Jonas, I think
this changed everything. I think that the comments that Magic

(47:05):
Johnson allowed the Spurs to to get more leverage. It
allowed the Celtics to try to raise up the price
for the simple fact of comments that Magic Johnson made
earlier this week about what free agency is and how
he's going to approach it. And it was the reaction.
That's how sometimes things get. This is and we've we
heard Magic Johnson say it. But when you want to

(47:27):
know if you if you should trade a guy, or
if a player, maybe if you should acquire a trade,
maybe a leak something to the media just to see
how they respond, to see if they're going to look
at the possible move, to see what the what the
you know, check the temperature of the fan base. And
when the fan base heard this, it wasn't the reception

(47:48):
that I think Magic Johnson thought he would get. This
was Magic Johnson, the Lakers president, earlier this week. Next time,
if nobody comes and I'm still sitting here, but if
you judge us on one summer, that's ridiculous. And then
if I can't deliver, I'm gonna step down myself. She
won't have to fire me. I'll step away from it.

(48:09):
Then I can't do this job. And that was Magic
Johnson and Laker fans are like, no, this was this
is the summer, Like this is the summer that Lebron
James is likely available, This is the time that Kawhi
Leonard is now available, and for him to give himself
a two year window to make good on his promise
after the Laker fans have been waiting three four and

(48:30):
five years to get back to somewhat respectability. I think
it rubbed a lot of Laker fans the wrong way.
I know those in the media were curious and hearing
Magic break about his his you know what he would
did and and how he wasn't immune or how he
dealt with pressure. And this just allowed of San Antonio
Spurs now to have their offer be as it will.

(48:51):
I think Magic Johnson put the Lakers in an awful
spot and put the Spurs in a great spot. You
remember this a couple of years ago L s U.
There was a report that leaked out out late in
the season that they were going to fire Less Miles,
and then he showed up to do his coaches show,
and you had little girls crying in the audience, You
had people emotional, and then L s U came out afterwards.
I forget the a d s name I forget. Yeah,

(49:14):
I think it might have been. It might have been
if he just made himself look like a fool, because
he came out after and said, no, we're not are
you serious, We would never do that. We're not firing
coach Miles and uh, four games into the next season
he was fired. That was L s U taking the temperature,
seeing the reaction, dipping their toe into the water to
see what would be like if they did make this move,

(49:36):
and once they saw the people were against the move,
they backtracked. They looked foolish afterwards, and ultimately they ended
up doing what they were originally going to do, but
the media scared him off. It this this reeks of
things like that. This this reeks of magic. Johnson, to
your point, seeing what the reaction was, seeing the negative feedback,

(49:57):
this isn't as easy as I thought it would be.
So let me scramble and try and recover. And because
of that, you're gonna end up overpaying and they're gonna
have to pay a lot. I still think that the
Kusma and Ingram, I'm sorry, I know that they had
great years, but if you just look at position for position,
and it's why I've argued Alonzo Ball. It's not that
Gregg Popovich doesn't want to bother with Alonzo Ball. It's

(50:18):
that the only young piece that the Spurs really have
to build around is Degonta Murray. So why would you
bring in Alonzo Ball if you like Dejontay Murray so much?
That doesn't make sense to me. So when you're looking
at San Antonio is trying to acquire pieces in this
deal Ingram and Kuzma are musts, and and that's like,
those are the no brainers Jonas to say the least.

(50:40):
If the Lakers are gonna want to pry Kauai from
the hands of the Spurs, now what else comes along
with it? Because what else did the Lakers are Because
the Celtics have much more to offer than the Lakers do. Yes,
but I don't think the Boston is willing to give
away the pieces that they do that they that they have.
Would you would you be more interested if you're the

(51:01):
San Antonio Spurs and what Boston has to offer, what
the Lakers have to offer, I'd be more interested in
what the Celtics have to offer. And and that's why.
But with not and I'm cutting you off but with
Kyrie future up in the air, I think Danny Ainge
is going to be somewhat hesitant two give up any

(51:25):
of the pieces that they could just because you don't know,
You really don't know. You may have confidence that you're
gonna bring them along, but you just don't know. But
they have more They have more options, I think for
the Spurs than what the Lakers have. And then I
also wonder from the standpoint of and again, I wonder
how much this is even being taken into account. If
you're if you're a Laker fan, if you're if you're

(51:46):
if you're a Laker fan, how much are you taking
into account health for Kawhi Leonard, which is a serious
thing to be taken into account. That's that's a major
hurdle that you've got a climb and get over, because
health is the reason he quote unquote couldn't go last
year when they needed him so desperately. So when does
that come? So are you are you trading away your

(52:06):
entire roster for damaged goods? I think it's a big deal.
If they remember Steve Nash, look at what that trade
did to that organization, and you traded for a guy
with a bad back. Now. Sure, Dwight Howard had had
his issues, but it was the Steve Nash deal that
really seemed to stick in the craw of Lakers fans,
and I think that that would be something that Lakers

(52:26):
fans would be concerned about. Is the injury factor of it.
And it's why I think that actually waiting for Paul
George just to sign this contract three days later with
the Lakers, which I think is going to happen, would
be beneficial for the Lakers. It's amazing that the Lakers
are panicking over something that may happen in seventy two
hours and benefit them. Dan Buyer Jonas knocks in for

date of what is happening in the world of trades
in the NBA as that seems to be the talk
everywhere with Kawai Leonard being on the shopping block if
you will for the San Antonio Spurs talcing with the
Lakers and Celtics. Do you think when Paul George makes

(54:59):
his announcement on this uh documentary whatever that crap he's
doing the documentary, do you think when he makes his announcement,
they're going to play a C D C thunderstruck in
the background off the stage. Thunder Seriously? Yeah, there's a
probably a yeah better than I Love l A who
sings at Randy Newman? Gary Newman? What's his name? Gary Newman?
Has cars? That's so we'll keep our eye on what's

(55:26):
happening with trades in the NBA. Are also getting about
a month away or so from the Major League Baseball
trade deadline, some names being thrown out there, and a
whole bunch more talking baseball now with us on the
Doug Gottlieb Show. Jim Duquette joins us year on Fox
Sports Radio as he hostly Power Ellie every weekday from
ten until one Eastern time on Sirius Sex MS MLB

(55:47):
Network Radio Channel. Hey Jim, thanks so much for coming on. Guys.
How are we doing today? We are doing well. We
know your former GM and the Mets scenarios, So tell
us what is what is late June like in front offices,
say like the New York Mets who may be shopping pictures,
or like the New York Yankees that may be looking
at acquiring pictures. What is it like in a front

(56:09):
office a month out from the Major League Baseball trade deadline? Well,
I'll tell you. Interestingly, with the Mets, uh, there's a
little bit of panics set it because they're losing an
alarming clip and they've had a change unfortunately health wise
in their Jana Sandy Allison. But they're they're front office
who I know most of us uh and a couple
of I've I've hired. Um, you know, from that side

(56:32):
of things. What they have to decide a month out
is do they want to rebuild entirely, like break it
down and decide they want to uh, you know, let's say,
have a turn down and and kind of camp will
call it tank for the next couple of years. Or
do they just want to kind of restructure things and
revamp things for next year uh and and sell off

(56:55):
a couple of pieces free agents to be like they're
closer GISA. But those are some of the decisions that
they're making. It's pretty hectic, no doubt. And I think
those decisions has been made obviously at the upper levels
two ownership level too. Uh. It's a little easier with
like the Royals, who were already decided that they're they're
you know, they're in full rebuild mode and so they're
moving off pieces like like they already did in the stocking.

(57:18):
So so that that's the that's the seller's group, the
buyer's group. Like the Yankees, they're trying to cast as
as wide a net as possible and uh and trying
to give up the least amount, which you know, I
think that's pretty pretty standard across you know, every league,
but it's basketball, or or the NFL or even Major
League Baseball. Jim Duquette with us here on Fox Sports Radio,

(57:39):
former a Mets Orioles general manager. Here on fs are
Dan Buyer Jonas knocks in for Doug Gottlieb. So help
us out with this, because we've been talking a lot
about um NBA rumors, all these rumors, reports that are
out there. You being somebody who was in the front
office and now you're you're on the outside of it
looking in what are some telltale signs of a completely

(58:00):
bogus rumor? Like how are you able to tell a
rumor that goes on Twitter and immediately No, that's a
bunch of crap right Well, and as you guys know,
there's a there's a lot of those out there. I
think it's to me, you know, a lot of times
I try to look at it because because on my
show we were trying to lucky at we have a
little fun office slant. Um you there are certain things

(58:23):
that you lucky at. Okay, are there are there true
truly needs of the organization or is there a you know,
going to be Is there a rumor that's out there
that's being played out, because, Uh, it could be various reasons,
but primarily to create value when you know there may
not be a lot of value and a given example

(58:45):
of one that's that's a currently going on. There is
a there is a rumor out there that that Mannie
mcclodod the shortstop flash third basement for the Dodgers, for
the Orioles, the Dodgers are in the front runner. Well,
I can tell you the US there are no front
runners right now. For Manny it's uh, even though things
are heated up. Secondly, the Dodgers, you know, you look

(59:08):
at it from a from a financial side of things.
There they are up against the the luxury tax They
don't want to go over the luxury tax man. He's
still making big money and the Orioles aren't gonna take
back any money. So the likelihood of the Dodgers being
able to be you work through some of those is
years and still be the front runner, uh is you know?

(59:31):
That's that to me is a bogus runner. Do you
want the Dodgers to be in it? If you're the Orioles. Yes,
because the hopefully it pushes up the price tax, so
somebody to sew it through some of those things. To me,
it's far, but have a little bit of an advantage
of some of those guys. Some of those Jims still
talk to me and still tell me some of the things,
some of those things. So so I can tell you

(59:51):
that the Dodgers are in it, but they're not the
front Jim Decat joining us here on Fox Sports Radio.
He's Jonas Knocks. I'm Dan Buyer. Aside from hearing Jim
every weekday on the Power Alley on Sirius X m
MLB Network Radio, you can also hear them Sunday mornings
at ten o'clock Eastern Time, hosting Front Office alongside fellow
former Jim Jim Bowden. So, if you're the New York Yankees,
let's let's stalk Yankees specific here. We know Saverino has

(01:00:14):
been great, Tanaki's hurt, Sonny Gray has been whatever. But
they're they're they're they're going to make the playoffs. They're
in the division race with the Boston Red Sox. Do
they need to acquire a front line another front line
pitcher like a Degram like a Syndergarter or Cole Hamils.
Do the Yankees need pitching, They do need a starter,

(01:00:34):
you know, I think it's start there, you know, I think, uh,
you know, they if you look at their studying rotation
and how it matches up just within the American League,
you know, it doesn't match up quite like at Cleveland,
doesn't match up with the Red Sox. In my opinion,
it definitely doesn't match up with the Astros. Now, obviously
there's strikes with the bullpen um and and so you

(01:00:57):
can they can get to the postseason. I think the
key for them though, is you want to Hey, you
want to win the division. You don't want to have
a one game plan. Uh. And two when you do
get into the postseason, which is likely, you want to
be able to go deep into it. And I think
matching up with the other teams starters it certainly gonna um,
you know, it gives you an equal footing. Let's to

(01:01:21):
turn the ball over to your adganage, which is the bullpen.
So you know, the only guys that I can tell,
even though the ground I know the Mets are considering
moving them. I think at the end of the day,
they're not, and I think synder Guard because of the
Sinder issue, is would be unlikely they're gonna move with either.
So it comes down to Cole Hamil's and Jay Half
who for me, if you put them in the in

(01:01:43):
the Yankees rotation, Let's say Kanaka is healthy, Amils or
Half number three starter ahead a sunny Dray. You know,
it's grain consistent. So so I think if you're the Yankees,
you have to try to do that, um, you know,
and and and then player card accordingly, maybe Gray pitches better,
maybe Hamils because he's in a different sent and pitches

(01:02:06):
like a number two starter like the way Verlander did.
I mean Berlander actually ended up pitching like the number
one after they trade form as. So, so you take
a chance of that way. I think for sure though
the Yankees are gonna go down that road. Jim Duquette
with us here on Fox Sports Radio. Former Mets Orioles
general manager here with Dan Buyer Jonas Knox on fs ARE.
So we've talked about how in the NBA Danny Ainge

(01:02:28):
is a general He's got a reputation now because he's
won so many deals as a guy that you don't
want to deal with because you just assume you're gonna
lose the trade. Is there is there a a general
manager or an executive in baseball or a couple of
them that is feared by other executives around the league
this time of year as be careful because this guy
usually wins deals. Well, I mean, I would say lately,

(01:02:49):
you know, Brian Cashman's run has been pretty impressive. You know,
his his uh both both you know, if you look
at some of the trades like the Gregorious uh, like
what he did with Chat and you know they be
able to trade him and then and then resign them
and and you know, glaboratories we get back in return.
I mean those are something. So I think you're cautious there.

(01:03:10):
I think that Jeff Luino in the Astros because of
what he did, you know with Burlander, that you know,
he's gotta be careful. Uh. He's you know, he doesn't
give up much of talent, and he gave up you know,
mark up Hell and the deal for Ken Giles at
back a few years ago on the Pells basically out
of the game of the time. It's a former first
round thick. So so there are guys I got that

(01:03:31):
that you do have to be cautious. But I'd say
I'd say other than those, and I wouldn't say necessarily
here because you can make They've they've made the set
of mistakes too, but I think those are two to
maybe stand out more than more than the others. They
probably to look at it. Maybe maybe the Indians. The
Indians have done a nice job, but they're usually shopping. Yeah,

(01:03:51):
they're there, they don't make these major deals. They're mostly
you know, they're they're building with their court group and
they're filling in on the fringes. Uh. You know, so
they might surprise you with an Andy Viller trade, but
at the end of the day, they're not gonna, you know,
most likely not go out and go all in and
get a major impactful trade. Jim du Katt joining us
here on Fox Sports Radio. Last one for me, Shohyotani

(01:04:13):
cleared to resume hitting for the Angels. How would you
handle him for a team that saw us five in
a row. It's now fall in the fourth place in
the a L West with the elbow issue, how would
you handle Otani the rest of the season. Yeah, that's
a tough one. Be a billy Elfer came on my show. Yeah,
he came out of my show yesterday and when we
were talking about this a lot with him and then

(01:04:34):
and then afterwards. Of course you know, for me because
he he's such a unique talent offensively, Um, yeah, I
would do what they're doing right now, which is all right,
that's that's clear for hitting. Let's hope that he can pitch.
You knew that he had the elbow issue when you
first when you first signed him. Uh, you knew it
was going to be at risk. And and you know,

(01:04:55):
at the end of the it's a July the August.
If you've played yourself on it, which unfortunately looks like
they're they're trending in that direction, you can always go
ahead and have the time again surgery, then put a
pull the plug on it, go ahead of surgery and
be able to get him back a little bit earlier
next year as a position player, and then see how

(01:05:18):
that as long as the reduct doesn't impact is is
his throwing. I would keep him as a d you know,
and a hitter and just you know, use those days
off in between. So we have had the arm. Uh,
we're looking ahead to that's a as being a picture
for you again. He showed me enough offensively. Two. Try

(01:05:38):
to keep him in a lot of as much as
I can. I know they had to, you know, paid
to the to the Japanese club, but I think his
contract is a benefit here too. It's not like you're
paying him twenty million dollars this season. Um, you know
you had to pay for him, but it's another one
of the benefits for the Angels that at least getting
him on the cheap up for right now, Well here
Jim Dukeette every weekday ten a m. Stern until one

(01:06:00):
o'clock Eastern Time, and the Power Rally on Sirius XM,
the MLB Network radio channel. Jeb, we appreciate it and
it should be an interesting month in Major League Baseball
to say the least. Yeah, no doubt about it. Thanks
for having me on. Jim Dukeett, former GM of the
met Scenarios joining us here on Fox Sports Radio. You
know Dan Summers here, which means it's time to get
to the ballpark. But without a working car battery, you'll

(01:06:22):
be watching from the couch. Luckily, auto Zone offers free
battery testing so you can be a part of the action.
With services from auto Zone you can't lose. Get in
the zone Auto Zone Dan Buyer Jonas Knox in for
Doug Gottlieb here on Fox Sports Radio. Coming up next,
one of the best players in the world is apparently
not as happy with his current organization as what we

(01:06:45):
previously thought. Find out who it is next year on
fs ARE. But for all the latest, you just pay
your damn respects to the Great State to stay. Hey,
we'll get the World Cup in a moment. There are
six day games in the majors. Clayton Kershaw has pitched
five innings against the Cubs, six strikeout middle of the fifth.
It's three one l a over the Chicago Cubs. Also
in progress at San Francisco Giants at two one lead

(01:07:07):
against the Rockies, two run homer in the first from
Brandon Belt In the top of the seventh, Twins lead
one nothing at the White Sox bottom of the fifth.
Mariners tied to two with the Orioles. Nelson Cruz of
Seattle is twenty one homer. Earlier, it was Arizona and
Zach Granky winning for nothing at Miami Oakland sent Detroit
to a ninth straight loss, four to two. Group play
has ended at the World Cup, and Tomorrow is an

(01:07:29):
off day for the tournament. The knockout stage begins Saturday
with the Round of sixteen openers. Belgium goes to three
and oh, beating England today one nothing, winning that group.
Belgium versus Japan in the round of sixteen Monday, Tunisia
on the way out beat winless Panama two to one.
Poland had already been eliminated after an oh oh and
two start, did win one nothing over Japan. Japan still

(01:07:50):
advances today based on a new tiebreaker. Columbia eliminated Senegal
one nothing. Columbia wins its group and will face England
on Tuesday to end the round of six team Outgoing
Panthers owner Jerry Richardson was fine two point seven five
million dollars for workplace misconduct, and Tampa Bay quarterback Jamis
Winston was officially suspended three games for violating the NFL's

(01:08:12):
personal conduct policy. Back to you, Thank you very much, Steve.
This is the Doug Gottli Show on Fox Sports Radio.
He's Jonas Knocks, I'm Dan Buyer. That's John Ramos in
for Doug. Today's The John Ramo Show comes up in
less than an hour. I just want to say one
thing about the Jerry Richardson fine by the NFL. How
do you come up at two point seven five million dollars? Is?
Steve said, like just make it three Like I are you? Like, okay,

(01:08:37):
three million is is ridiculous. Let's make it two point
seven five million, like these these odd numbers, like it
just doesn't seem to you make it two million, or
you make it three million. And he counted that to
make it, you know, two and three quarters million dollars.
You just like that's way too much, thinking, are you serious?
You didn't you didn't hear the news? Well no I didn't.

(01:08:57):
Oh yeah, eight percent off in June. Oh, I'll every
day I discount listen, I have every holiday sales car
dealerships on fourth of July. I mean, you can get
cars out the door for a good deal. It's what
the NFL does. He won't be the Panthers owner for
long again. The official sale expected to go through in
a couple of weeks. Protecting your home team Farmers customizable
home insurance packages offered coverage options you can tailor for

(01:09:18):
your home turf. At Farmers, we know a thing or
two because We've seen a thing or two discover home
coverage options and more at farmers dot com. Are Farmers
so Lebron James apparently texted Kevin Durant. You hear about this? Yeah, uh,
it's crazy. He texted him, and then I heard several
other reports and said, no, no, I didn't text him,
And then well maybe, but he's not interested. It's tiss

(01:09:42):
the season, Dano. All sorts of rumors counter rumors. Which
one are you buying? I am buying that he did
not text him, because I think a conversation like that
needs to be a conversation and not a text conversation.
If you want Kevin Durant opt out of his contract
and join you as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers,

(01:10:04):
I think that's something that could be said in person,
or at least over the phone, instead of through a
couple of emojis and a couple of sentences in a text.
I think that a conversation would happen to actually get
Kevin Durant's attention. You imagine like you get a text
and it's like a Florida area code and you open
it up, Hey, Dan so and so golf channel. I

(01:10:27):
want to come hang out. I fell in an application area.
If you want my resume or anything, Yeah, you want
the job? Yeah? What would you know? I want to
join me in l A question mark? You know, because
that what is that? What the text would be. I
wouldn't even know how to passively aggressively do it. If
I'm Lebron James, maybe he would figure out a way.
But I don't buy that. I think that, Sure they

(01:10:49):
probably had conversation, Sure they probably talk. Heck, we found
out that Draymond Green and Kevin Durant, we're talking before
Durant ended up leaving for Oklahoma, leaving Oklahoma City for
Golden Stated. We thought those guys were enemies. So to
think that those two have had any sort of conversation,
I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility.
I just think it's ridiculous to think that a text
was sent trying to convince Kevin Durant to leave Golden

(01:11:11):
State and join the Lakers. Well, here there's a couple
of aspects to it. One, I hope it's true. I
hope it happens because I'm all about doubling down. If
you're gonna be a bleep or if you're going to
piss a lot of people off, at least double down
on it, right, Like, I'm a big fan of people
that say, oh yeah, you want me to apologize? Watch this,

(01:11:32):
and then they double down on it because it would
just cause so much controversy. If you thought Kevin Durant
leaving to go to the Warriors piste a lot of
people off teaming up with Lebron James, Jesus, that would
be content for us for months, and I would be
all in on it. Man. You know there is something
to it if you think about it, because we still
have we still have the argument. Not only is it

(01:11:53):
l Lebron against m J all time, but there is
a conversation, is Kevin Durant better than Lebron James right
now in the NBA? And so Kevin Durant has won
the last two finals over Lebron James team and has
been the best player in the n b A and
you're still having this conversation. What better way for Kevin

(01:12:13):
Durant to truly prove he is the best player in
the NBA than to overshadow his own teammate like that
would be Actually, we thought that maybe winning head to
head would be the reason that they would we could
figure out who is better. But if they played on
the same team, Jonas, we may really truly get the
answer on who would be better. So at least they could,
if you want to think hypothetically, that is a hypothetical

(01:12:35):
way to think that. Okay, now we could finally get
the answer to who is really the best because we
saw Lebron rise to the occasion with the Miami Heat
where he was clearly the better player in Miami. We've
seen Kevin Durant rise to the occasion with the Golden
State Warriors that he's better than Steph Curry and better
than Clay Thompson even though they're very good players. To
settle this, they could be on the same team and

(01:12:56):
then we would find which one would actually rise to
the top. Here's the other aspect of it that I
was thinking. You never Okay, guys, guys can relate to this.
Maybe you can't do that. This boy back in the day.
I mean, you are happily married. This would not happen
any any time within the last four years. Yeah, yeah, listen,
And again, I was just testing you. I wanted to

(01:13:17):
make sure you knew the timeline, that's that this is
all how it's all done. But guys know that there's
a different answer when you ask somebody, hey, does she
have a boyfriend? If the answer is yeah, okay, But
if the answer is yeah, they're kinda I don't know,

(01:13:38):
it's kind of yeah, kind of kind of not really sure, okay,
well uh, and then it piques your interest, and then
you'll want to engage. If you knew it was a
flat yeah, she has a boyfriend, not interested, you wouldn't
even try and engage most of us unless you're a
scumbag no offense John. But if you know that it's
on the rocks or the window is open just a

(01:13:58):
little bit, you'll engage in it. So if this is
true and lebron did reach out to Kevin Durant, this
says a lot about how happy Kevin Durant isn't in
in Golden State because of lebron knew that Kevin Durant
was good there, and he had no interest in wanting
to go to l A. He would never even bother
reaching out if he did. It's because he sees the

(01:14:18):
potential for them to break apart earlier than a lot
of people anticipate, and we've heard the reports that there
was some friction this season. We've heard reports David West
Sean Livingston right after the NBA Finals are over. If
only you guys knew what went on this year, it
was crazy. Maybe that's what it's alluding to. And if
lebron knew that he was happy there, he had never

(01:14:38):
reach out to begin with. Yeah, I don't think Kevin
Durant is happy at Golden State, but I do think
that he looks at life after basketball, and that after
basketball is you know, Kevin Durants had got his foundation,
He's got his own company, and he's making tons of
connections in the Bay Area with people in the in
the in the tech world and the online world. And

(01:14:59):
I think that Kevin dur Rant looks at his success
after basketball as being a multimillionaire billionaire by having his
hand in so many different companies that are just blowing
up worldwide. That that I think is something that is
keeping him with the Golden State Warriors. But if it
was truly a basketball decision, I look at everything that
we thought would happen to him, even if he won

(01:15:21):
titles with Golden State when he left Oklahoma, City, all
of that came true. We're still discussing how great he is.
Sure he's better than Steph Curry and Clay Thompson, but
there are some that don't want to give him the credit.
He still doesn't receive the great credit of being an
NBA Finals MVP and a two time champion because we
still say, will you joined the best team in the league?
How hard was that? So everything that happened two years
ago that we thought would happen has come true to

(01:15:43):
Kevin Durant and none of that has changed. That could
be weighing on his mind and looks sometimes the pursuit
is greater than the actual achievement. Once you get it,
it's not as great. Um, you really wanted this this
item for Christmas. You never thought you were gonna get it.
You've been You've been asking for it all year, and
then you finally open up your gift, you got it,
You play with it for two weeks, You're over it

(01:16:04):
because the thought of it was so much more than
the actual acquiring of it. And so the pursuit of
the title was probably so much more than the actual
winning the title for him, and that probably jarred him
a little bit. And now he's trying to scramble to see. Okay,
what the hell is going to make me happy? Because
clearly it wasn't that. I've done it twice and I'm
still not a film Uh. Dan Buyer, Jonas Knox in
for Doug Gottlieb here on Fox Sports Radio. Um, you

(01:16:27):
can get Dan on Twitter at Dan Buyer. On Fox
you can get me at the Jonas Knox coming up
next here on fs are there is one player in
the world, all right, one player in the world who
could be the determining factor of some major moves involving
several franchises. That's next year. On Fox Sports Radio, Progressives

(01:16:48):
new Home Quote Explorer is changing the way you buy
home insurance. Now you can go online, get a custom
quote and save both time and money. Learn more at
Progressive doc Um. Oh yes, show is on Fox Sports
Radio that shown the stocks. I'm Dan Buyer, that's John Romis.

(01:17:10):
We are in four Doug today. Have you heard the
remix of this doing John's job parts? This is Gary
Newman with cars of course. Randy Newman sings Hallo, here's
a Newman. I know Dan's favorite Newman. I'll tell you
right now what Dan's favorite Newman is the old Newman

(01:17:32):
receiver gloves in the NFL in the nineties. Yeah, damn right,
I had. I had those when I played high school football.
I had those, the old Newman's and would like about here. Well,
we were the Blue Jays with blue and white, and
and my buddy on the team had an extra pair,
so I got some blue Newman gloves. Oh man, those

(01:17:53):
those gloves reeled in five passes. Yeah, five yard, I
remember it like yesterday. Five catches, ninety five yards on
that season. There you go. That's that's five more catches.
And Brandon Marshall has his entire career in the playoffs.
That's I'll tell you what big play wide receiver almost

(01:18:15):
twenty yards per catch for me that junior seeing in
high school. Yes, yes, to help the Meryl Blue Jays
to an OHA nine season. There it is. Um, Doug's
not here today because Doug was on the herd for
Colin Cowherd. So just because Doug isn't here doesn't mean
we're not gonna do what Doug usually does. And Doug
usually likes to take something from an interesting part of

(01:18:37):
a show on Fox Sports One on Fox Sports Radio.
I want to play it back and that's what we
do here and now. And why not hear what Doug
had to say while he was in for Colin Cowherd
on The Herd about Paul George an NBA free agency.
If Paul George stays in Oklahoma City, and I don't
think he does the short term deal, but if he stays,

(01:18:58):
it hurts the validity of of Magic Johnson's ability to
say he's a closer, a great recruiter. It changes the
thought of any of star players wanting to play with
Lebron James. But maybe most importantly, it could potentially change
this whole idea of hey, don't take a guy with

(01:19:18):
one year left in his contract because he's gonna want
out anyway. Because if Paul George from southern California wants
to be a the Laker and the Lakers won him
and he spends nine months or eight months in Oklahoma
City and suddenly he's like, hey, you know what, that's fine,
but I'm going to stay in the Sooner state. Doesn't
that change how we look at pending free agents. I

(01:19:40):
didn't say he was the best free agent. He's the
most important because he is the lynchpin to the ultimate
plan as well as potentially a changer of narratives about
players controlling where they want to be. And I agree
with Doug. I thought that Paul George was the most
important piece of this. Now it should be noted. And
I don't know exactly where this fell in the three

(01:20:01):
hours where Doug was talking, but I assume it was
before the news that Paul George was opting out of
his contract with Oklahoma City. So we at least know
that much information that has at least changed that he
won't be going back on the one year deal with
Oklahoma City as he's opted out of his contract. But
they're always just the possibility that he goes back to
Oklahoma City on a on a long term deal, And

(01:20:24):
if that would happen, say on July one, it would
be a shot to the Lakers if they don't end
up pulling this this deal with Kawhi Leonard, because then
they would end up striking out on on everything. Paul
George seems to be the Plan B right now, but
he maybe the saving grace for the Lakers if they
could land him, and if not, it could be a disaster. Well. Yeah,

(01:20:44):
and and in totality. This looks awful for the Lakers.
From the standpoint of the reason Magic Johnson was brought
in was to land these big time free agents. Everyone assumed, well,
the Lakers have been striking out, and was it was
it Jim Buss who was fired. I I lose track
of the US, but everybody, everybody is looking at the Lakers, going, well,
it was it was him he struck out all those times.

(01:21:06):
Not really the Lakers. It was his messaging. It was
Mitch cup Check. Their messaging wasn't the right messaging to
free agents. If you whipp again this year, that's all
out the window. This is a This is an organizational
problem to where you need to open up your eyes
and realize just because it's l a and just because
there's a lot of banners hanging up inside Stable Center

(01:21:27):
doesn't mean that it's a shoe and that guys are
going to go there. DeMar Derosen was a local kid
stayed in Canada. If Paul George is a local kid
and stays in Oklahoma, like that's that's embarrassing. That's a
total loss. This is the Dog Gottlieb Show on Fox
Sports Radio. Car Shoppy can be confusing with terms like

(01:21:48):
dealer price, list, price, and invoice. Through car shows you
what other people paid for the car you want, so
you can recognize a good price. What are you ready
to buy? A new or used car? Is the true
car to enjoy a more confident car by experience. I
think if and I think Paul George comes to l A.
But I can't believe that the Lakers are so under
the pressure to try to deal for Kawhi Leonard that

(01:22:08):
they can't wait. And John Ramos is here with a
new edition of The John Ramo Show coming up at
the bottom of the hour. I haven't seen too many
refuting reports, Jonas of of what we saw earlier today.
There have been there have been some things here or there. However,
it seems to be that the Lakers and Celtics continued

(01:22:30):
to talk with the San Antonio Spurs about a deal
involving Kawhi Leonard, and the Spurs now are willing to
let go of the disgruntled forward to possibly one of
those two teams. I know nothing, all right. I have
no sources, no inside information, no knowledge. Sometimes like on
weekend overnight, so when I'm hosting here in Fox Sports Radio,

(01:22:51):
I'll say that I have inside information, but that's mostly
because the listeners are hammering. They don't know the difference,
so you can get away with a lot more there.
But I have no no info at all on this,
no sourcing whatsoever, but just gut feeling. This seems like
a Danny Inge throwing stuff out there. Uh, talking to reporters,

(01:23:13):
being very strategic with no real serious, serious interest in
Kauai Leonard, at least at the asking price. But they
are the threat that if you want to get somebody
else to increase their offer, you throw the Celtics name
in on it, because they've got the most to offer,
whether it's young players that you've seen perform at a
high level in the postseason, two draft picks moving forward,

(01:23:35):
that's the team you openly have discussions with so that
other teams get scared and it looks like it's working.
It's almost a game of chicken. Yeah, and if the
it will see if the Lakers called the Celtics bluff
by maybe not offering the san Antonio Spurs everything that
san Antonio wants. But if you look at it from
a Boston angle and you talk about those assets that

(01:23:57):
they do have to compete with l A and and
are able to outshop l A because of the assets
that they have, Jonahs, The question is if Boston is
a legitimate pursuer of Kauai Leonard. The question is should
they be? Because I don't think that it's just because
they have the assets and because they took the step

(01:24:19):
forward to acquire Kawai Leonard in a deal that we
now look back on and say, wow, that was pretty
pretty darn good deal by the Celtics and Danny Ains
to give up Isaiah Thomas who had a bad hip.
Jake Crowder wasn't a factor in Cleveland, and that first
round pick wasn't one, two or three. It ended up
being eighth overall for the Cleveland Cavaliers. So that deal

(01:24:40):
worked out, but it was no longer the Celtics in
waiting mode for everything to happen and to play out.
It seemed like they took a step forward. Making another
step forward with Kawhi Leonard, in my mind, is not
the right thing to do, and it's because of Kyrie Irving.
Even though that they the Celtics have all the assets
that they do with the picks and the players. I

(01:25:02):
just don't know if Boston's future is as set as
some people hope. And that's because of Kyrie Irving's indecision
on what he could do in the summer of Yeah.
And and the Celtics are being smart with this, and
that's you know, not a surprise or a well run organization.
Danny and he is really smart at all this stuff.
Adrian war Janowski had details from earlier in talking about

(01:25:25):
how the Celtics are being really, really cautious and for
a couple of the reasons that you and I pointed out,
one of them being health, uh and the other being
free agent desires and and where his interest lies moving
forward Boston. If they don't acquire Kawhi Leonard, there's no
oh oh, so you mean we get to keep our

(01:25:46):
young core together that was uh at nine points away
from going to the finals last year, and we get
our our two superstars back healthy. Alright, cool, they've got
There's nothing to lose here for the Celtics. If you
throw this stuff out there, there's if they don't. If
it don't, if it doesn't Land, it's fine whatever. You
still got a ton of talent and you were so
close to going to the finals last year with your

(01:26:06):
two best players, presumably not in the lineup. All the
pressure here is on l A to get the deal
done because the future of l A is dependent on
whether or not they can have enough there to entice
Lebron James in his mid thirties to go there. So
if you're Boston, there is no there's no gun to
your head, so to speak. In this situation, it is, Hey,

(01:26:28):
if we get it done, we get it done. If not, whatever,
we'll go into battle with what we did last year
and it worked out fine for us. What's the price tag? Though?
If you were, if you were Danny Ainge, that you'd
be willing to give the most you'd be willing to
give the San Antonio Spurs. And and the reason I
asked this question is because if you give up too

(01:26:50):
much Jonas whether they're let's just assume there are a
realistic player. It's just for for these purposes, if they
would be insert send at Kawai Leonard. If you bring
in Kauai knowing is going to be a free agent
in twenty nineteen, you have Kyrie Irving, who also is
going to be a free agent in twenty nineteen, you

(01:27:10):
could lose two pieces plus the pieces that you end
up trading to the San Antonio Spurs in a deal
like that's Jalen Brown's name has been put in quite
a bit, as as the piece that at least one
of the key pieces that you would you would put
together to try to bring him over. I don't know
if you can get higher than Jalen Brown on that team.

(01:27:32):
And that means I wouldn't put Gordon Hayward, I wouldn't
put Jason Tatum. I wouldn't put any of those pieces.
But if you had Jalen Brown in a couple of picks,
maybe then it's worth happening because then you still at
least would have a Tatum Hayward corps without knowing the
futures of Kawai and Kyrie. But that's about it for me,
if I if I'm Boston, and that's why I just
don't know if they are a legitimate player in all

(01:27:53):
of this. Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe, who has
been covering the Celtics for a while now, sent out
the following on Twitter. Hearing Jalen Brown has not been
discussed in any potential deal for Kauahi Leonard, Celtics are
taking a very conservative approach and talks with the Spurs.
It's like the three teams involved here are the Spurs,
the Celtics, and the Lakers. The team with the less

(01:28:14):
least amount of leverage of all these teams is the Lakers.
He spot on, Boston can can literally sit back whether
and look, this is another report that's a counter to
a report. Who the hell knows at this point what's
really happening. But Boston can sit back and go, look, guys,
we know you want to make a deal, but we're not.
We don't have to. We're the only ones here that

(01:28:35):
don't have to make a deal. The Lakers have to
make a move because that's what's going to bring in
Lebron James, and the Spurs kind of have to make
a move because that guy is miserable and doesn't want
to be there anymore. Boston is the only one in
there thinking to themselves, Hey, if nothing gets done, what
do we care? Yeah, and I just I don't understand
how Boston can be engaged. Did not include Jalen Brown.

(01:28:56):
You know, what do you what are you gonna what
are you gonna say? Here? We got We've Marcus smart
for you and Terry Rosier in a first round pick
like no, and Marcus Smarts a restricted free agents So
who knows if that would be a sign in trade
or how it will go. I think you're for you're
forgetting also Dan Um and again I'm I'm offended by this.

(01:29:18):
Um Aaron Bain's excuse you, that's true. Excuse you didn't
he didn't he have a stop in San Antonio? Wasn't
he there at one point? Wasn't Like I don't know,
maybe maybe I don't know. I can't even remember. But
the point is is, yeah, that's like, that's what we're
talking about. So if you're talking about having a piece,
I don't know how Jalen Brown isn't a part of
that conversation when you're asking the Lakers to do and

(01:29:41):
when the Lakers are willing to give up Kyle Kuzma
and brandon Ingram as part of a deal, if you're
the Celtics, you have to you have to invest one
of those those pieces. I know. Gordon Hayward was the
big signing last year, which was another step that the
Celtics took and saying Okay, we're no longer waiting, But
is is Gordon Hayward and his contract and what you
would have worth sending on your way to San Antonio.

(01:30:03):
I don't know if Boston thinks that way. I probably
wouldn't be as adverse to doing it, but I don't
think Boston wants to say, all right, we we signed
Gordon Hayward for eight minutes, you know, in a in
a basketball game, and then dealt him to San Antonio.
If the Celtics pull this off, and it's a bunch
of spare parts like a Rosier a couple of those
uh first round draft picks, either the Grizzlies or the Kings,

(01:30:25):
and say, uh uh, you can't even pronounce his first name.
If they're able to pull this off, that is one
of the biggest bleef used to the Lakers from Greg
Popovitch and the Spurs, because you know, the Laker offer
had to have been better. But this is a just say, listen,
we're gonna lose him anyways. We're not helping like it's
it's we're not going to to to make you guys

(01:30:49):
improve your roster so much, and just also at the
same time unload him because he doesn't want to be here,
Like would they be willing to take less just to
screw the Lakers over this season. If they did, it
would be significant, man. I mean it would be so
significantly less than what they have there. Because to your point,
if it's not Jalen Brown, what are we talking about here? Yeah,
that's I mean Brad Stevens. They just swap Stevens, bring

(01:31:13):
him on as an assistant coach, Maybe bring up Mark
Keith Morris over. They can give them both Morris twins
that they could be headaches for everybody else. I listen,
we'll do the deal, but only if Walter McCarty's included. Uh,
he's no longer coaching here. Damn it. It's I just
I look at Boston being in this and it's just
when you peel back the layers, it doesn't make any
sense for them to be in this Kawhi Leonard business

(01:31:35):
for what they for, what they should have to give up,
and what could happen in the future to Boston. Because
if Boston does end up giving up a valuable piece
like Jalen Brown in some first round picks and then
you end up losing Kauai and you end up losing
Kyrie Irving, Boston is back where they were four years ago,
and now you've got Gordon Hayward and you're trying to

(01:31:55):
figure out what you would do with the remaining first
round picks that you have so well with saying all this,
the Lakers are in such a weird spot because of
what you said. The Celtics can just be like, all right, whatever,
we'll give you this, but the Lakers have to oversell
the Spurs so much because of who they are to
get a deal done, and that still may not be.

(01:32:16):
And this is look. We were talking with Brian Geltzeiler
earlier this week Hoops Critics Series Serious XM, and he
he made a point he kind of disagreed with me
where he said, no, I don't think Kawhi Leonard and
his team have made any mistakes here. They want out
of San Antonio, so on and so forth. And I
disagree because I think you're forgetting what this whole thing

(01:32:38):
is about. And we touched on a little bit yesterday.
If this was a Kyrie Irving just once away from
Lebron James situation, then it's okay because Kyrie Irving gave
several places that he'd be interested in going to, and
it was basically who could give us the best offer
for it. Kawhi Leonards Camp is dealing with a player
who may or may not have a significant injury, but

(01:33:00):
definitely has an attitude problem right now. And also they
only gave one destination that he would be willing to
go do so, if you're the Celtics or any other team,
I'm sorry, I'm not gonna bend over backwards just so
you guys can get a deal done without reassurance. So
it kind of screwed the Lakers in that regard to
where it's forced their hands, along with Lebron James and

(01:33:21):
his deadline on when he wants this done. If you
would have opened it up and you would have said,
Kauai is happy about his time in San Antonio, but
he thinks it's time for a change. Uh, he would
consider going to this team, this team, this team, and
this team. Then you can have a serious conversation about it.
But they wanted to play hardball, say screw the Spurs,

(01:33:41):
We're only going here, and other teams in the NBA,
like the Celtics are like, all right, well here's our offer.
You don't like it, tough balls, Hey think crazy? Screwed themselves.

Trade Talks, Trade talks, NBA free agency. It's what everyone
is talking about right now, including Jonas, NBA players, and
it also includes NBA players who are involved in those

(01:35:29):
trade talks. The Lakers, we know, are talking to the
Spurs about a Kawai Leonard deal in a deal that
many think could include the likes of Kyle Kuzma, Brandon
Ingram and Josh Hart. Well. Kyle Kuzma tweeted this afternoon
a gift of himself on the bench just kind of
looking I don't know, a little, uh puzzled, I guess

(01:35:51):
would be a way to describe it. And Josh Hart's
also ended up sending his own tweetout that said, I
don't care what the media is talking about. The two
guys who ended up having years with a year with
the Los Angeles Lakers now are part of trade conversations
that could send them to the San Antonio Spurs. Now,
before we get into the potential hurt feelings aspect of this,

(01:36:13):
which is a legitimate thing, um, is that the equivalent
if you send out a gift of yourself, is that
the equivalent of talking in third person or if you
wear your own jersey out? Think isn't that kind of
along the same lines, Like I would love to be
able to to find a gift of myself. But when
I type in my name and give all I get

(01:36:35):
or like the Jonas brothers, and it pisces me off.
I don't know what you type in Dan's a more
common name, or buyer. I don't know what would come
up to be typed in buyer, but but that you know,
it would be awesome to be able to find a
gift for yourself. From the hurt feeling standpoint, I think
that is something that's legitimate. Look, it's why when we
were talking about them moving the NBA draft after free agency,

(01:36:59):
why would be so awesome because of the pettiness and
because of things like this. You remember what happened when
when uh the Eagles moved up and took Carson Wentz,
who was the guy that almost immediately demanded a trade
because they were so upset that their organization had eyes
on somebody else. It was Sam Bradford, and he was
so piste off, which is part of the reason why
he's trying to be so helpful to Josh Rosen this

(01:37:21):
time around, because he realized that he doesn't have the
kind of leverage that he had back then. So if
you're an NBA player and you're seeing that your name
is popping up all over social media and there are
trade rumors, but your organization maybe isn't really being totally
honest with you, it's a real thing that these guys
will get bothered, Biden, who knows that they even want
to stick around. I will also say this though, It

(01:37:42):
is a real thing for guys who haven't been in
the league for a while and still think that they
are special, and it and and it means no disrespect
to Kyle Kuzma, and it means no disrespect that Josh Hart.
But you have to realize that in this business, with
with a league that is dominated by superstars, that stuff

(01:38:03):
like this happens, that guys get traded all the time.
They're very good basketball players that end up getting traded
for one reason or another, and they're just a part
of it's it's a part of the deal being in
the NBA. What I find interesting and intriguing in all
of this is if Kyle Kuzma didn't have the year
that he had, would he be really in the conversation

(01:38:24):
of any of this, of of being a piece in
this trade. Because if Kyle Kuzma was so so his
Rookie of the Year didn't get first team All NBA honors,
I'm not sure the San Antonio Spurs are saying we
want Kyle Kuzma. But it ends up being in a
way where Kuzma's first season, where he has got a
lot of opportunities in LA because of that success, now

(01:38:47):
may end up having to play in San Antonio or
a city that he doesn't want to because of how
great he was his rookie year. And if there isn't
something that is so NBA as to that, I don't
know what is, but it's just a part of the deal.
It's a part of the business, and these guys, I
think I'm just too young right now to realize it.
People thought what Danny Ainge and the Celtics did dies
Aiah Thomas was unfair. The guy went out there, he

(01:39:10):
gave it all, probably played with an injury that he
should have been sitting out with. Um, which is I
think part of the reason why Kauhi Leonard has been
handling his situation the way he did, because he knows
that's a possibility maybe you could do more further damage
to your injury. Um. His sister passing away scoring the
fifty three points or whatever it was on her birthday. Um,

(01:39:31):
you know, being really rallying that team and being all
that they had offensively and willing them to the conference
finals before ultimately the injury was just too much. People
thought how Danny Ainge handled that was cold blooded to
go ahead and trade him, and that it was a
bad move by the Celtics. You don would have been
even worse if you floated him out there in trade
rumors and you weren't able to pull off the trade. Okay, yes,

(01:39:54):
because now he comes back and he's like, what what
the age like? On second, I just gave him I all,
and you guys are out there flirting with other teams, Like,
what is going on here? If the Lakers, if this
is this, if this discussion and these reports and these rumors,
and there's some pretty credible sources on all this have

(01:40:15):
names attached to them, and those names are which is
why I don't think those names have come out yet
because they know if they don't pull it off, you're
doing permanent damage. But if they do come out and
it's Kyle kuz Kuzma and it's uh Ingram or Ball
or whoever, now you've got to repair relationships with those
guys who you are expecting to be your building blocks

(01:40:37):
moving forward. But them knowing deep down that they were
planned b because something else came along that pissed me off. Yeah,
I I get that, Like, but these guys have got
to realize, I mean, you're young enough, Like the Lakers
shouldn't have to repair the relationship with Josh Hart, you
know that. I mean, otherwise traits never would be done.

(01:40:57):
They shouldn't. They shouldn't have to. Kyle Kuzma had an
nice year, but realistically last year on the Lakers, he's
probably the third most important piece beyond Julius Randall and
Brandon Ingram great rookie season, First Team All NBA. But
they shouldn't have to worry about these problems. If if
you go after Lebron James and strike out and you
don't have a relationship with Kyle Kuzma and Josh Hart anymore,

(01:41:20):
then so be it. I mean, but these guys are
the ones that have to realize so seeing them tweet,
it's a part of the business. There new new to it.
I still think that they're young enough that they think
that it's just the type of player that says, yeah,
like I I am good, I am a I am
in the NB I am a great player, and you
would think why why would someone not want me? And

(01:41:41):
they may have to just look at it as like, well, hey,
if san Antonio does want my talents, then they find
it worthy enough. That's how you're gonna have to play.
You can't have sour grapes in the NBA, especially if
you're just Josh Hart and Kyle Kuzma. All Right, dad,
I am going this is a fun little game, right,
This is a fun little game. We had this plan.
I did not just think of it, which is why
on the air to make it seem like I just

(01:42:02):
thought of it, John, Do we have any game show music?
We can play just anything? There it is? That is
the go to the stock answer if you want to uh,
if you will hear on Fox Sports Radio. So, Dan,
here's the game. The game is called. Would you have
to repair the relationship with this laker should they be
floated in a trade rumor and it doesn't get completed?

(01:42:23):
Are you ready? All right? So Dan? Would you have
to repair repair the relationship with lull dang if the
deal is not made? No? Okay? So Dan? Would you
have to repair the relationship with Brook Lopez if the
deal does not get made? No? Dan? Would you have

(01:42:44):
to repair the relationship with Mort's Wagner should the deal
not get made? More Wagner? Dan? Okay? And Dan? Last one?
All right? Last one. I think I'm noticing a trend here,
but I think I think we break the trend here. Yeah,
okay whatever his name? Who cares? All right? So Dan,
would you have to repair the relationship? I think this

(01:43:06):
is where it's going to be different. This is gonna
be a different answer with if a Kazoo back whatever
that guy's name is Would you have to repair that
relationship Dan? Oh my god, there it is four? No,
Dan Buyer, you have won. Would you have to repair
that relationship with this Laker? No, we weren't. We weren't.

(01:43:28):
We were saying we want you back, zoo back. That's
what we were saying. We didn't say you guys can
have zoo back. Yeah, that's go. You could go down
the higher fifteen man roster of what the Lakers have.
There isn't one relationship that you should have to repair.
By the way, Uh, Moe Wagner, I'm just gonna call
him Williams. His he was he throughout the first pitch

(01:43:52):
at the Dodger game. I was at the Dodger cub
game last week, and Um, they got on the mic
and said something and I just kind of hurt it
in the background because we were shuffling around. There was
a bunch of trash on the ground near our seats,
and um, yeah, he's not gonna be in this town
very long. Really, No, he's not gonna be around very long.
I just just just just a feeling. Doesn't seem like

(01:44:13):
an l a. It didn't seem like it's gonna really
they're gonna welcome him. Well, let's let's by the way,
how was the game last night? Oh? I don't even know. Yeah,
I just I just kind of dozed off on the
third inning. Now, it was nice, very a light crowd. Apparently,
when it's not Keika Hernandez bobble head night, not a
lot of people wanted to come out to the ballpark.

(01:44:33):
We're not that we're bad. That's bubble heads and uh
get any Dodger Dogs had one. All right, there we
go progress for Jonas Dogs. I splurged, but I fasted
for like fifteen hours after. Was there a bun or
no bun? I did do a bun? Alright? Yeah, I
know they believe it or not. I might have a

(01:44:55):
diet soda later. Dan, Oh, you're ridiculous. Alright, So Dan

on Dodgers Cubs to day game. Yeah, it's gonna Did

(01:45:39):
you have Zuba's day back of the day. No, No,
you're too busy to make it out with high school chicks.
I was in high school too. You say you wow?
That that turned hurry uh. Comes have scored seven runs
in the seventh at Dodger Stadium to take the lead
ten three over the Dodgers. Clay Kershaw only pitch the

(01:46:01):
first five innings, allowed one run six strikeouts, but Walker
Bueller just off the DL the rookie'll charged with five
runs in his one plus inning of works, so the
Cubs are leading bottom of the seventh ten three maritors
at Orioles to two in the top of the ninth
Nelson Cruise of Seattle with his twenty one homer top
of the tenth inning, Twins tied one one at the
White Sox and the Rockies are tied five five at

(01:46:22):
San Francisco in the bottom of the sixth earlier road
wins for Oakland and Arizona. The College World Series ends
tonight at the World Cup. Group stage play is over.
The tournament has an off day coming tomorrow. Belgium goes
to three and oh after beating England one nothing to
win its group. Belgium versus Japan and the round of
sixteen on Monday. Japan lost today one nothing to Poland,

(01:46:43):
but Japan still advances based on the new tiebreaker. Columbia
eliminated Senegal one nothing. Columbia wins it's group and we'll
face England on Tuesday to d the round of sixteen.
Tunisia beats winless Panama today two to one. And Tiger
Woods is golfing in Maryland. Well, he's back to even
part now through sixteen holes at seven strokes. Back in
the leader Andrew Landry of the US, who shot sixty three.

(01:47:07):
Back to you. Just a quick note in In a
survey by Inside Sports magazine, Zubas finished third in the
voting of worst thing to happen in sports. So just
to clarify, yes, yes, the worst thing to happen at sports.
There there's a picture you can look at. It's from
the old quarterback competition. I think it used to be

(01:47:27):
on like NBC, the one where they would be on
a beach and then they put blue chalk on the
tip of the football and they throw it at the
moving targets and there's a picture of all the quarterbacks
wearing zubas, Zuba, zuba or zubiz. I heard zobas. We
would call them zubas. That's what we call the unbelievable.
But apparently something work because now they play center for
the Lakers. He's Jonas Knocks. I'm Dan Buyer in for

(01:47:50):
Doug Gottlieb on the Doug Gottlieb Show. Protecting your Home Team.

And I want to clarify I was like in junior
high when zoo boz was a big thing, and in

(01:48:10):
high school, so when you're saying making out with high
school chicks, it was I just want to clarify that
it wasn't like as an adult, it was when I
was a kid, and then you know, that's all people
people actually thought, just you know, hey, you never know
what can happen on Fox Sports Radio, and you never
know what can happen here. Does it get any better

(01:48:32):
than this? I think it's the John Ramo Show. It's
the John Ramo Show, Ramo Show. This is the John

I know you do, Hey, I thought this was interesting though.
I was checking through the news and did you hear
the Dodgers have already hit fifty two That's right, fifty
two home runs in the month of June. I saw that.
It's pretty incredible. Yeah, it makes me think there's something

(01:50:00):
in fishy going on, Robert, Really, why is that? John Well?
I heard most of these guys couldn't get past second
base in college. Yea page two is your favorite quarterback
addicted to paint chips? Find out next on the John

(01:51:27):
Lebron James, I think Space Jam two is gonna be great.
Kawhi Leonard. The Riverwalks sucks, doesn't it? Paul George, I
don't like people with two first names. Arkansas Baseball, you

(01:51:48):
just made Bill Buckner look good. The Mexican soccer team
Anthony Joshua stopped being a chump. The German soccer team

Find out? Next on the John Rommels Show, The Craziest
Sports Balls of the World Ball Some one's with the

(01:52:33):
Super Nine Bowl into the game to the quarterback who
it's seventies week, everybody else, give it up for Fleetwood
mac he said nineties week on Monday. Fleetwood was supposed
to be on the show yesterday but got bumped from
a Noodle and Billie Idoly, I'm glad we were able

(01:52:53):
to reschedule. Don't forget. They'll join me here here up
at the stage later on for an end depth interview.
We're all asked them to reveal their favorite musical threesome

Romosho exclusive everybody something you won't hear on any other

(01:53:36):
take a look at the categories, and Jopy, remember you
might hear this or you might hear this. Let's get started.
Here are the categories. The Red Hot Julius Peppers, The
San Antonio Spurned, two Girls and a World Cup Roger Federer,

(01:54:00):
Suzanne summer things my wife has done so far this summer. Dan,
you're up first. Pick a category, all right, so I
would like give me Roger Federer. Sorry, guys, time's up.
That will do it for today's episode of John Pretty

(01:54:22):
That's all the time we have for tight. Big thanks
to everyone who twitted and used a hashtag the John
Rommel's Show. Also thanks to Fleetwood Mac for being tonight's
special musical guests. Sorry Fleets, We'll have to get to
you next time on the interview, and Robert, I'll catch you.
Oh there were so many that's that's I'll say this

(01:54:48):
about that one. There were so many twists and turns,
like I really like the twist in turn. That really
confused me is how Um I got the wrong order
of the segments and and the teases. There was a
late minutes switch with the script. We just didn't we
didn't get updated scripts. Um. Well, that was well done, though,

(01:55:09):
I mean he not even a goodbye to John Ramo,
to Robert Garret at the end of it, not even
just sort of killed it. John Pretty didn't even let
it play out. I love John Pretty Man. I was
glad we got Bill idly back in there. Yeah, that's good.
That's good to hear from him again. By the way,
how many Billy Idol cover bands out there heard us
do that segment yesterday and they're like, that's it, bill Idole,

(01:55:32):
that's the name of our band. Hashtag the John Ramo Show.
A right, Dan Buyer, Jonas knock him for Doug Gottlieb
here on Fox Sports Radio. Get Dan on Twitter at
Dan Buyer and Fox. You can give me at the
Jonas Knox. You have less now less than twenty four
hours to give ideas to John Ramos on what you'd

(01:55:52):
like to hear next time on The John Ramos Show
coming up tomorrow. If you'd like to do so, you
got a tweet at j S. Ramos zero six with
the hashtag the John Ramos Show coming up next year.
On fs ARE, we've got some pressing issues that we
have got to get to next year. On fs ARE,

Acting your Home Team, Farmers customizable home insurance packages offer

more at Farmers dot com. Are Farmers. Yes, it is
the Doug Gottlieb Show. He's Jonas Knocks. I'm Dan Buyer.
That is John Ramos, and people tweeting in loving the

(01:56:36):
John Ramos Show saying it's a magnificent show. Kudos five stars, John,
congratulations on another successful John Ramos show. Wow, when it's
seventies week, you never know what's gonna happen. Yeah, Unfortunately
though it was nineties week earlier, then it turned into
eighties week. What's tomorrow sixties week? I you just have

(01:56:56):
to wait and say, Okay, so be be expecting Patsy
Klein on today before we get to Steve the Sager
and um eighties week. We will. We've got another report
from Yahoo Sports saying a source close to Lebron says
that Kawhi Leonard reached out to Lebron telling him how

(01:57:17):
much he very much wanted to play together. They spoke
about Kauai's lockdown defensive ability, which would alleviate pressure off
of Lebron. That from another report, Jordan's Schultz from Yahoo Sports.
He's been on the program before, reporting that I'm dizzy
with all this stuff. This is how many? How many
of these are out there? Man? This, This is crazy.
And I'm not not saying that Jordan's isn't isn't he

(01:57:38):
could be very well right, But isn't this kind of
why Kyrie Irving wanted out last year because he was like, man,
I don't want to deal with this next summer. I
know how this guy is, like, I don't want to
deal with this crap. It's amazing, it's it's you can
expect these just like traffic at the top of the hour,
and just like Steve de Sager with the press, the press,

(01:58:03):
Hello Steve, giving us the latest of what's happening in
the world of sports. Hello again. The Dodger bullpen has
now allowed ten runs today, just the bullpens exactly. It's
eleven three Chicago, the Cubs bottom of the eighth leading
the Dodgers, which leads us into story one because before
the game, picture you Darvish, Now a Cub suffered a
setback in his bullpen sessions. Sore, triceps still sore. This

(01:58:27):
is the same guy who gagged the World Series with
his two starts for the Dodgers against Houston and then
still got a rich six year contract from the Cubs,
making twenty five million dollars this year and potentially at
least twenty million over the next five years. Has one
win as the Chicago cub e r a near five
when he's been healthy. Only eight starts for him this year.

(01:58:48):
You know what I say, better you than me. Oh yeah, hey, Steve,
that's how it's done. Maybe that is called a pun
classic there. That was very and you know what is
You know what though theo Epstein for everybody out there going,
oh man, they really may have blown it with this
big signing and him signing a picture like that. Look,

(01:59:11):
it's the first time that they've made a mistake signing
a picture to a big money free agent deal and
it Oh wait, they signed Edwin Jackson. Sorry, sorry, wegot
all about that. Anybody who gets a long term I
mean the Dodgers may have the same discussion of whether
to give Clayton Kershaw a long term deal coming off
of the injured list recently. They only let him go

(01:59:31):
five innings and then the bullpen really let it go.
One other note from this game, anybody heard of the
name Max Munsey hadn't done much with a previous team,
but with l a. He Homer today it's his seventeenth
homer of the year. And for a team that is
clabbering the ball. Max Munsey is leading the Dodgers in
home runs. This year's mid May was batting about thirty

(01:59:55):
only had three homers. That he's after him in Indiana
in the end differently, but they also named the diner
and say by the bell after him, Dan Max. Yeah.
John Smolts, great baseball analyst, four Fox time out. Yes,

(02:00:17):
that was my Zach Morris. That was You didn't have
the bell ringing in the background. Of course, listening to
the John Royal Show, I think we all have a
bell ringing in the background. John smolt shot a first
round eighty five at the US Senior Open. Yes, he qualified.
Was very happy to get to golf in Colorado and
well he's almost last place after round one. He called

(02:00:39):
it one of his greatest accomplishments. And it just tells
you how good the top players are. The I mean,
it's it's amazing. The the best players in the world
are just yeah, and this is the US Senior Yeah,
you know what. I even talking about the PGA Tour
for him in the first round, where would could you

(02:01:01):
beat any could you finish not in last place on
any course in the senior tour. Oh, I'd be dead
last by You could not one course, you could Nope,
not even close. Don't. Jacobson always said that he had
a better chance of making it in the NBA than
Michael Jordan did on the PGA tour. As Peter Jacobson,

(02:01:23):
slightly overweight white guy from Oregon. I can't. I can't
handle this anymore. A group play over at the World Cup.
From now on, in this attorney, every World Cup game
must have a winner, no tie games, overtime or penalty
kicks if necessary. Each loser is out. Round of sixteen
openers begin Saturday with France against Argentina. Senegal did not

(02:01:45):
advance today due to their accumulation of yellow cards in
their three World Cup games. A new tiebreaker was used.
Japan advances, Senegal does not. Do you know the NFL
has a tiebreaker system for postseason. They have a list
of eleventh things if there's a tie, For example, who's
going to be the wild card team? The last two
of which are who has the best net net touchdowns

(02:02:07):
in all their games? The other is it would just
go to coin toss. Yeah. Coin flip is the last one.
Oh my god, Like, what if it's a coach who
you know, if he doesn't make the playoffs, he's gonna
get fired and he loses because he said heads and
not tails and he gets fired. A coin toss is

(02:02:29):
the only thing the Browns have won the last couple
of seasons, at least if Yeah, I know, I know,
it's a it's just a shot at the Cleveland Browns
are gonna turn it around. We're gonna turn it around
tomorrow for a last episode this week. I don't believe
we have some you're shooting Yeah, yeah, I think so.
