Speaker 2 (00:24):
Mm hmmmmmmmm.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
Hope you're having a great day. The Doug Gottlieb Show
broadcast live in both Green Bay, Wisconsin and Sherman Oaks, California.
I hope you make today an absolutely special special day.
All Right, you know, tonight's Thursday Night Football. We'll have
Jason Stewart and Dan byer A gonna hop on with
(00:49):
us a little bit later on the show live from Buffalo.
But I think there's there's a bigger story here, and
it revolves around the quarterbacks, right, and you have two
quarterbacks who Josh Allen, who kind of rose up from
(01:09):
nowhere in terms of obviously football people knew who he was,
but he was lightly recruited and then when he got
ready for the NFL Draft, now all of a sudden,
people were, and throughout that year people were making comments
about a guy they did not have a ton of
knowledge of. To a tongue about Loo is different, incredibly
heavyly recruited, remarkably well regarded, got hurt in college and
(01:34):
has had an injury plagued up and down professional career.
But there's there is something that needs to be discussed,
and it's it's very difficult to discuss it because as
a player, I did not check all of the boxes
for what a high major point guard should be or
(01:57):
or maybe was more then than is now. And there's
a special affinity in I think all of our hearts
for people who don't check every box of what something's
supposed to look like, and yet they can still be
successful in the field. That's to a tongue of Iiloa, right.
He's not terribly big, he's not terribly fast, he doesn't
have a super strong arm. He's sparked, but let's not
(02:19):
act like he's a rocket scientist. He's good at what
he does and there's a specific way in which the
Miami Dolphins have played that allows him to be successful.
Josh Allen's bigger, stronger, faster, and even to what Tua said,
there's just things he can do that Tua cannot do physically,
(02:40):
unable to do them, unable to do them. So where
does that leave us? That leaves us in this really
interesting place where we're going to watch the Bills take
on the Dolphins and a guy who people thought you
couldn't miss on with the exception of injury, and he
did come in the NFL with an injury. Tua and
(03:01):
the guy who people were very very tepid with in
Josh Allen, who now everybody concedes this if he's not
the best quarterback in the NFL, he's one of the
top three. So we do this thing where we think
intangibles is everything, and intangibles are a lot. Right. It's
(03:25):
not like josh Allen doesn't have character, It's not like
Josh Allen isn't a leader. But what we've done for
however long, is think Tua has such intangibles that it
can carry him past his physical limitations. It doesn't mean
that Josh Allen has learned some of these things, right.
(03:47):
Stefan Diggs and him it was an on again, off
again hot and cold relationship and when they move Digs
out that officially became Josh Allen's team, and the team's
the better because of it. The bigger part is we
have a tendency to diminish physical traits sometimes we do.
We have because you know, Joe Montana didn't have the
(04:10):
greatest physical traits, didn't have the greatest arm, could run,
but wasn't super fast, but he was just really really
good and really smarter football. You can say that about
many positions. Jerry Rice is great. Jerry Rice is not
close to the fastest or quickest wide receiver ever. He's
just the best wide receiver ever. And so oftentimes when
(04:32):
we get ready for the combine, you know, we're so
weary of guys that are physical freaks that came out
of nowhere. But there is something to the physical traits
that it takes to play in the Nation Football League,
in the NBA, in Major League Baseball. I recommended to
my son the book Freakonomics you has ever read for
(04:53):
economics and freakonomics. There's a lot of different parts to it,
but one part is basically, you know everything you do
or everything that happens to you in your life puts
you in a greater or worse position statistically to be successful.
Or to be financially destitute. Right, if you don't go
to college, if your parents you know, we're split up.
(05:15):
If you smoke, if you drink, if you do drugs,
if you you know all of these different things. If
you gamble, then you're more likely to be financially destitute.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
Right.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
These are all kind of check marks of it. So
I bring it up because it doesn't mean that every big,
strong quarterback that can throw the football a mile and
that can run a four or five point forty is
worthy of being drafted. I mean, look Richardson with with
with the Indianapolis cults is the perfect example of that.
(05:49):
But there is something to the physical attributes are needed
in order to just do the job, and especially when
you talk about doing the job in outdoor air, in
natural conditions.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
Right.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
TUA has been up and down and at times very
good in Miami, but more so when they're in Miami
and when they're in a dome and more stadiums. Buffalo's
new stadiums. Not one of them will be in domes
as we move forward, because you can just make more
money having the dome closed in winter months, being able
to do more so, maybe the smaller quarterbacks Baker Mayfield's
(06:28):
not huge, Kyler Murray's really small to a tongue of
ilo is not tiny, but also not big, not a
crazy athlete. Maybe those guys will still have homes in
the NFL, But the percentage of quarterbacks that don't have
freaky athleticism or freaky size, or freaky strength or a
freaky ability to throw the ball with incredible force and velocity,
(06:54):
those guys are shrinking away. And what's amazing about it is,
you know, we talk about guys the NFL missed on.
This was a guy in Tua, and again, I don't
know how much better he would be had he not
gotten the concussions, you know, had he not had some
of the injuries he's had as an NFL player. I
(07:16):
know he had that massive hip injury when he was
in college, but he did recover and ultimately he's played
and been fine because of it. But he's a miss
not as a quarterback. Like look, as the first round pick.
He's been fine, he's been good. He's been very good
in some instances. Do I think ultimately the Dolphins will
have to move on from him in order to try
(07:36):
and really take that next step and be consistently successful. Yes, okay,
but if you get five six years out of a guy,
and and if he can stay healthy, it's a big gift.
He's been fine as a quarterback, probably slightly overpaid. He'll
be overpaid here in this second contract. He's not a
complete bust. He's not to get him out after a year.
(07:59):
He's not somebody who can't play the position. He's just
not as good as most people's presumption of what he
would be when he got to the NFL. You know,
because we got Jalen Hurts and he beat out Jalen Hurts,
how many NFL teams would have taken him ahead of
Justin Herbert, And yet Herbert is far away, far, and
away the better pro quarterback, not just because of injury,
(08:21):
but because of physical traits. So when you watch tonight,
know that it doesn't mean that the undersized, understrength, more
accuracy quarterback is completely dead. But there is a logical
reason why guys fall on the side of eh. He's bigger,
(08:43):
he's stronger, faster, he throws the football harder, it's more
likely to work. That's what freaking out saying. It's more
likely to be successful when you have those physical traits
and some of the character traits and some of the
character traits. That's the general belief system and it's proven
(09:04):
out over time. Walk up on an NFL quarterback, they're
way bigger, stronger, and also and that this goes with
the shador Sanders. Most of them are guys that everybody
loves and when you meet them, you're just drawn into them.
All of these things are general attributes. It doesn't mean
you can't be your own person. You can't be a
(09:24):
quasi celeb, you can't have a cameraman following around and
a guy holding your bag. And you can try it,
but generally the guys that have been successful haven't done
it that way. And to us, struggles outside when they
get him off his first read, when they make it move,
(09:45):
those struggles are of a quarterback who is not crazy athletic,
is not that big and strong, doesn't have that strong
end arm. The lg X Boom Bounce is a portable

Dodger's going to win five to nothing. That's our Tyrack
play of the Day. There's a lot of talk this
week about Tom Brady, his involvement with the Raiders, his
involvement in broadcasting, how much information he can bring to
the Raiders from his time in broadcasting. Here's former Raiders
head coach Antonio Pierce, coach of the Raiders last year,
(12:07):
Brady a broadcast last year earlier today, discussing what Brady
would do.
Speaker 6 (12:14):
I think I would be uncomfortable if there's the other
way around, to be honest with you, because you're not
dealing with this a normal person. Tom Brady is the
elite of elite one of the greatest quarterbacks, one of
the greatest players in the game. He played against the
modesty student of the game. It's not hard for him
to watch a few things on a Friday practice or
hear things in the production me and be like yeah
and have kid business. And you'd be foolish enough to
(12:36):
think that he does not want to share that with
the Raiders, because we had those conversations about certain things, right,
and he was very informative about things that he knew
or he felt. And that's why you bringing a guy
like Tom Brady and is the organization to be a
minority owner, because he gives you those aspects and different
insights that some people can't give you. So how I
would take it, I would be nervous. I think I'll
(12:56):
be tight lift, which I think most most head coaching
are when they go in production me, they watch it.
I think on Friday, if he happens to be there
on a Friday practice, you might want to limit some things.
I just think that's a fact that I think everybodys
going to give you the political answer and say, oh,
there's no big deal. I'm calling BS on that. I know.
He was a great asset for us with the Raiders
when I was there, and I think he's still be
(13:17):
a great asset and he's going forward, and I think
this does help.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
Them out in the Raiders Stut Gottlieb Show here on
Fox Sports Radio. You know, so people understand he's not
watching those Friday practices, he's not there. I does it
help you gain things? It does? It does, And there
is a little bit there's a broadcaster code there. Regardless
of whether you're working for a team or not, you
(13:41):
have everybody has friends on a roster or the coaching staff.
I can guarantee that there's not a coaching staff or
a roster that plays in the NFL the Tom Brady
doesn't know and probably have a friend on that route.
You played that long in the NFL with that many people.
Many of the guys he play with her against her
now coaches, so there's a relationship there. I'm not trying
(14:05):
to diminish Brady's impact. I just don't think the impact
is that great. I think their greatest thing is where
the biggest part of it is. The optics are really
bad because of his time with the Patriots and how
they were viewed as just part and parcel to it,
and then you factor in that, in addition to being
(14:27):
a former Patriot, he's now a minority stakeholder in the Raiders.
And while that doesn't matter Gloria Stephan's a minority stakeholder
in the Dolphins. We don't do it about Gloria Stephan
going to an opposing team's practice and understanding what their
playing is and sending it to the Raiders, of sending
it to some of his friends, right or her friends.
(14:52):
But for Tom Brady, there is that sense. I just
think it looks bad, it's unnecessary. He can still have justice,
he can still listen on headsets. Just be somewhere where
no one can see him. You know, in Tom Brady's
year before he was a broadcast, remember he retired, and
then when the year he took off, they did fake
broadcasts in order to get him up and running. Nobody
(15:13):
could see them because no one knew that where they
were doing it from. But they were doing it from
these stadiums. It can be done, it can't be done.

here on Fox Sports Radio. Adam Kaplan joins us. He's
our Fox Sports Radio NFL Inside Else has the Inside
the Birds podcast. Adam obviously being a guy who does
the Eagles podcast. You watch that game every snap of
that game. Chiefs are missing their top two wide receivers.
(15:57):
Kelsey has aged. But assuming those top to wide receivers
come back healthy, what are your thoughts in the Chiefs well?
Speaker 2 (16:04):
And also East tight end Dallas Goddar didn't play, but yeah,
they're going to be much better now. The question is
by the time both are back and Worthy may play.
This week you're talkd about Xavier Worthy, the second year receiver,
first round from Texas, and then Rachie Rice after he
serves his six game suspension. Yeah, look, Mahomes, this is
what I'm told with Mahomes, it's a little bit of
(16:26):
last year where holding on the ball, holding the ball
and not being decisive. And what you're going to see
this week against the Giants is I will guarantee you
they get the ball out of his hands quickly. This
is what Matt Nagio and Andy Reed have done over
the years. And he still calls the plays, but one
Mahomes is indecisive, they call shorter routes and they get
the ball out of his hands. Now, you're absolutely right,
(16:47):
Kelsey's not the same player. He's clearly near the end.
That's part of it. And they just don't have much
speed at receiver right now. That's why Tai Kwon Thornton,
who was a former second round receiver for the Patriots,
is playing a lot because they just don't have anybody else.
You just missed just run well anymore. So that that's
a it's a problem I do. And another part of
this is Doug isay Pacheco, they're starting running back has
not been the same since he broke his leg last year,
(17:09):
and they just don't run it well. And that's why
their offense is bogged down and their defenses had to
carry them.
Speaker 1 (17:15):
Outside of that, Missus Lincoln, it was the show, Doug
got Yeah, they got a lot of problems. Got leave
show here on Fox Sports Radio tonight. We're going to
see the Dolphins take on the Bills. How bad is
it in Miami?
Speaker 2 (17:27):
It's not good. Look, it's not good. This is the
one where when I do when I put together my
notes for the season, I was like, this is this
team's going to be on watch because not a good roster.
They had no identity offensive line. They've Chris career. The
GM has never really built a quality offensive line. It's
always been a problem. There's always issues with their offensive line.
(17:49):
He said, he's hit on some picks on both sides
of the football, but miss Bailey on the offensive line.
And then how well to the players respond to Mike McDaniel.
Their defenses not look good the first two weeks, really
exciting game. Last week, somehow they found a way to
lose that one. Now the Bills are without Matt Mlano,
their best linebacker and at Oliver the best defensive tackle.
That does mean something. But this defense of the Dolphins,
(18:12):
which over the years has been competitive, it just that
it's not looked good. And this is a game that
obviously the Bill should have no problem winning. And look
you go, ozer and three, you know you've got less
than two percent chance since nineteen ninety to make the playoffs.
So they're gonna be questions around the league whether Mike
McDaniel will make it through the season. That's that's there's
no question about it. And after his hot start, there
(18:33):
are a lot of people are in the league have
questioned what's going on there?
Speaker 1 (18:38):
They rightfully should ask what's going on there? This is
the Doug Gottlieb Show on Fox Sports Radio. You know,
I haven't watched every snap of the All twenty two.
I did watch some and I thought there were signs
where Kayleb Williams was better, but you know, they got
ran out of the building in Detroit and there were
some there were some things, some inaccuracies, which he's really struggling.
(19:00):
What are people in Chicago really saying about their second
year quarterbacks?
Speaker 2 (19:03):
So basically they know he's a work in progress. So
it's going to take time. This is a Ben Johnson
runs more over West Coast offense. It's not easy to learn.
This is completely different than what he had at USC.
It's a little similar to what he had last year
with the Bears. It's going to take time, and I
will tell you there are people around the league who
who watched that game last week who kind of know
(19:24):
what's going on. Felt that the lines ran the score up.
They were kind of surprised that the line starters were
in the game late. I mean, when they scored their
last point, the starters ran. I'm on Ross Saint Brown
scored the fifty. He was responsib for the last touchdown
when they won fifty two to twenty one. I would
agree with that based on the people I spoke with,
they kind of they felt that the lines didn't have
(19:45):
to do that. And one coach told me that this
is interesting. He goes, listen, if you're Ben Johnson, you're
not going to forget this. He may not believe they did,
but when you're a big time they should have pulled
their starters midway four of the fourth quarter, and they did not,
and that that was interesting. So they're in the same division,
and I'm very interested to what happens in the second
(20:06):
time they play in Chicago.
Speaker 1 (20:08):
Stug Gottlieb show here on Fox Sports Radio. That's the
voice of the one and only, I mean only Adam Kaplan,
Fox Sports Radio, NFL Insider. Another year, another two and
oh start for the Eagles. But you know, again, the
numbers aren't great, and so people are like.
Speaker 2 (20:27):
Well here they're get killing them, Dug. Over all the offense,
the fans are out of, going out of their minds.
Go ahead, you're on the right plat.
Speaker 1 (20:33):
Okay, So so what again, what's the real What do
the Eagles think of what they have?
Speaker 2 (20:39):
I believe they're concerned from the look it's only two games.
The first half of the first game, Dallas looked great.
Second half you remember that was the hour delay, the
lightning storm, so both Dallas and Phillies offenses bogged down.
And then a very conservative approach against the Chiefs. He
almost blew that game. As you know watching it. Their
defense is played very well. Their defense is really good
(21:01):
last week in Kansas City. But when you're paying aj
Brown what they're paying in Devonte Smith, now I know
Dallas Gotter was out and that does mean something is
a really good today. And plus he really blocks well
for the run game. The underdiscussed part of their offense
so far, Doug is their their running game has not
been very good at all. And that's you know, they
have not been able to rely on the running game.
And that's that's part of why that people are like, wow,
(21:24):
they're very lucky to be too, and No, that's really
the reality of it.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
Okay, what about what about Indy?
Speaker 2 (21:34):
Yeah all right, yeah, I'm all over that one. So
here's the thing they they now that was ridiculous game
last week great game, and what week one was kind
of boring. Last week was incredible. Daniel Jones has played
great football, you know, not to this degree. We've seen
him play well before. Then he implodes. Doug the word
around the league and Daniel Jones is he typically implodes
because he makes bad decisions with football, fumbles, it bad Reid.
(21:58):
He just does something that he shouldn't do and then
he winds up getting hurt. But he's looked great so far. Now,
both games were at home. It's a divisional game at Tennessee.
I know Tennessee is not very good, but they got
to prove they can win outdoors. That's part of believe
it or not, that's part of winning in the national
football If you go out in different conditions, can you
win where you have to travel go outdoors? Their defense
(22:19):
is played respectable football. But yeah, oh, my top three surprises,
they're definitely one of them. There's no good maybe the
top one. But again, they've only played two games. We
have a small sample size, and look that division because
of what's happened to Houston, one of my other surprises,
they look bad. The reality is right now that division
is completely up for grabs, the AFC.
Speaker 1 (22:39):
South, it is completely up for grabs. And I think
Jonathan Taylor makes the Colts so much better. Yes, makes
Danny Dimes so much better. So much better? Are how
long until people are willing to buy into the Chargers.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
Well, look, there's a ton of respect for Jim Harball.
If you remember Brandon Staley, Anthony Lynn and other coach
head coaches. The blown leads in the fourth quarter, and
they're not blown leads, that's the first thing. Now there
are questions around the league, Doug, how good is really
their defense? Jesse Minter, who Harball brought over from Michigan
with them, who was his defense coordinator there, and he's
(23:20):
done a phenomenal job. The great scheme, great execution. They're
not very talent. They just lost Khalil Mack for a while,
Who's going to go to the Hall of Fame someday,
one of their best ed rushers. That's definitely a problem.
You know, it's one of these things, Doug, you look
at and you go, how in the world are they
winning with this cornerback group. But now this is a
huge game for them. Denver had a terrible loss last week,
one of those ones you're like, how did this happen?
(23:42):
Now the Chargers have to prove now that that they
could continue this a divisional game against Denver and that's
another division now because of what's happened with with the Chiefs, Doug,
that is also up for grap It's pretty good.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
It really is. It's completely up for I don't know,
completely up for grat I just yeah, I mean, Denver
losing was a surprise the Raiders. I do think that
people give Geno this pass because now he's become so likable,
but he's just that who he is. He's just okay,
you know.
Speaker 2 (24:15):
Okay manager. I mean it's he's better on average, but
that's it.
Speaker 1 (24:17):
Yeah. Yeah, And and you're not going to win that
division with an average to better than average quarterback.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
You just plus, there's not a lot of talent on
that team either. But no, but no, here's they play
hard though they're competitive now and last year they were not.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
That that's that's completely, completely, completely fair. Adam Kaplan is
our guest Jaguars. Okay, yeah, so you have a young
wide receiver who I mean, listen, everybody in Jacksonville is
talking about Wait. You know, last year we had the
hopes that this guy was uh was going to be
(24:53):
such a major factor and then you know, now he's
really ducking out of any sort of cont tact in
catching the football. I'm talking about Brian Thomas. Yeah, Brian
Thomas junior. What's going on there that suddenly now people
are paying attention to Brian Thomas stopping instead of going
over the middle.
Speaker 2 (25:11):
That hit that was a little weird. But let me
just tell you about Brian Thomas. Brian Thomas last year
talking to the Jaguars, he was so far ahead of schedule.
They they thought he was a project. You know, he's
kind of wiry, not he's got good length, but he's
just not real strong. And he had a great season,
phenomenal rookie season. Now, last week their passing game was
all over the place. You know, they blew that game
(25:33):
at Cincinnati. I'm sure they would tell you that they
thought they should have won it. And give Jake Brown
and credit, who's a gunslinger. And we can get to
that the Bengals in a second. But yeah, look and
Travis Hunter, by the way, I'm gonna repeat what I
said after he was drafted. Eventually he'll only play one
side of football. It's not sustainable. We're going to play
offensive defense. That's just not right. And the value to
(25:53):
them is way better, way better corner than his receiver.
That's just the reality of They be clear, they've not
made a decision yet. Uh when this is going to happen,
But for the totality of his career, he's going to
be He's got to be one side or the other.
It can't be both, no question.
Speaker 1 (26:10):
But did they pick the wrong side?
Speaker 2 (26:13):
Well, right now they think it's it's manageable for him
playing more at wide receiver. That's fine. Now, besides Brian Thomas,
they're not. They've got Diami Brown and came over from Washington,
who they're paying decent coin for a short term contract.
He's more of a he'd be better as a backup,
you know, Hunter on offense. Once Lawrence and Hunter get
(26:35):
on the same page, it could look really good like
they're gonna be able to score points. But the problem
with with the Jaguar for so many years is they're
not good enough defensively, They're just they were terrible last season.
They've been a little bit better this season, but overall
it's really I don't worry about their offensive by the way,
Travis Etianna looked great after a bad season last year,
but their defense is the problem with them. But that
(26:56):
that game was another one. Doug Anyone's game went down
to the wire, and I give Jake Brown and credit.
I know he turned it over, but he's gonna be
a starter. And realistically, by the way, we've probably seen
the leicster of Joe Burrow this season. That is an
awful injury he had that you can't come back before
three months with with with ligaments in your in your toe.
It's tough. That turf, the grade three turf toe is
(27:18):
really bad. I've covered the century before. Now let's say
it's late de summer and they're still in it. That's
a different story. But realistically, uh, we've probably seen the
last of Burrow this season.
Speaker 1 (27:28):
That's crazy. It sucks.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
I mean, yeah, I feel bad for the Bengals, and
you know they they look they're too and zero. This
is a fun game this week for the Bengals. We'll
see if they could keep it going. And uh, look
I didn't think they come back and win that. But
how about this one, the backup ball, it's it's uh,
it's brown and versus Carson Wentz in Minneapolis.
Speaker 1 (27:51):
Yeah, do do the Bengals go out and add a quarterback?
Speaker 2 (27:54):
Well, they've added a couple. They've added a couple. So
Mike White, who had you know what, he looked pretty
good for a little bit with the Jets, but it
did work out for him with Miami Brett Rippon, who's
the nephew of Mark Rippin, and they signed another quarterback.
So but look, it's Browning. He's been there for a
number of years. He has been much better than people
in the league thought he would be. He was an
undraft free agent, not much as thought of him. It's
(28:16):
done a good job. He's a very aggressive throw and
as we saw last week, you got it. You you
just have to deal with the turnovers. I mean he
did throw three picks, but he brought them back to
win it.
Speaker 1 (28:26):
You just had to deal turnovers. The number one determination
who wins it?
Speaker 2 (28:28):
I know, got a little with it.
Speaker 1 (28:29):
Man.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
He's very aggressive. Like you see, Doug, Here's the thing,
there's there's a coach, a term called stinger. You don't
want to take it away. Not that he's Brett Fahr,
but he's super aggressive. And yeah, the more you coach
and the longer they go along. Here, Zach Taylor calls
the plays. The head coach. I mean, he knows, he
knows that kid, he's been with him for a while.
But they're super loaded and offense. You know, it's gonna
(28:51):
sound crazy. I'm not really worried about him. It's just
their defense. Their defense was horrendous last season. Al goll In,
the former Miami and Temple head coaches. Their defensive coordinator
doing a good job so far. They're pretty competitive so far,
and that's side of the football. In the end, I mean,
they're not gonna win the division Baltimore well be, but
they do they can hang in for a wild card
that in that AFC.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
All right, He's the one and only Adam Kaplan, Fox
Sports Radio, NFL Insider Inside the Birds podcast. Download it,
listen to it wherever you listen to your pods. You're
the best, cap Thanks for joining us.
Speaker 2 (29:20):
Next week, I do want to talk about the Brady situations.
Speaker 1 (29:22):
Well, let's talk about right, we have a little time.
Speaker 2 (29:24):
All right, Well, so so I just want to tell
you that this is we don't have enough time to
really get in the weeds. But and I know you
did talking about I heard you, I heard you on
your show. I saw one of your videos on social media.
It seemed really poorly around the league. It's just the
rules are very clunky. You can't have both. There are
a lot of people who believe that, you know what,
(29:45):
if you want to be a broadcaster, that's fine. You know,
that's fine, but you should you should not be able
to do anything leading up to the game at all.
That that's really the way people see that I've spoken with.
He gets limited access. It's still clunky. There's a mistrust
on the situation. I could tell you from people i've
spoken with him. I haven't spoken to fifteen people. I've
talked to three so far, but one high wrecking personnel
(30:05):
guy who actually reached out to me and wanted to
know what what other people thought. I said, it's not good.
And then this guy called He actually called me from
the road and we talked about it. He said it's
just ridiculous, and he said his team is not playing
the Raiders. But if they did, or or if now
he did, he is not sure if his team will
be having Brady's broadcast team with him. But he's look,
(30:28):
he goes this is he had no problem with Brady,
think he likes him personally, but he said he's talked
to before. But he just the people around the league
dugged it to move this along here. They just don't
think that this is kosher, so to speak. It's just
kind of weird. And I know that they've tried to
limit his access, but it's not comfortable that that's Andy. Obviously,
you saw him in the coaching booth on Monday night,
(30:49):
which is crazy. That was really wild in a suit.
That was wild.
Speaker 1 (30:52):
Yeah, why is he wearing a suit? Why is in
the coach.
Speaker 2 (30:57):
His coach? Why does it he put like, you know,
the pullover on the Raiders pull over? Yeah, in fact,
why isn't you on the bench helping call plays? You know,
he's he oversees a lot like the real story, Doug,
just so you know, he's heavily involved in everything that
they do. And that's the reality of it. And look, look,
he really would have been a Raider as a quarterback.
(31:18):
Am I reporting on this. It was Grood for some reason.
I don't know why. He didn't want him as a quarterback.
Mark Mark Davis wanted this to happen and it grew
him back. Then decided like it was going to work.
But the bottom line is it's definitely where We'll get
more into the weeds next week. I have more stuff
on it, but it's just not it's not people are
not comfortable with it. That's the bottom line.
Speaker 1 (31:41):

Speaker 1 (33:03):
All right there, I love what you got, Bud.
Speaker 5 (33:05):
The cold hard reality is today we're going to play.
Speaker 4 (33:09):
I feel a draft.
Speaker 1 (33:13):
I feel a draft.
Speaker 5 (33:15):
This is an honor of local family members Dan Byer
and Jason Stewart, who are fulfilling a bucket list item
by attending a game at high Mark Stadium in its
final year of business before the Bills move out.
Speaker 4 (33:34):
So for the.
Speaker 5 (33:36):
It's not a triumvirate. It's a quartet. Today, we're going
to draft items on your personal NFL bucket list. That's
what a b Take it in whatever direction you want.
It could be go see a game at a certain place,
some sort of experience, something you'd like to see in
the league. Just take it however you want direction. So
(34:01):
NFL bucket list is the topic for I feel a draft.
We'll get two picks. Doug, You're not getting the number
one overall pick this time. I know typically you like
to trade up into the number one spot, but we're
going to go with Ryan Berschinger, then you, Doug, then
Iowa Sam and then Moi and back around again with
the number one pick. Don't blow at Bursch.
Speaker 7 (34:23):
I'm very happy that I have number one because I
think it's a strong number one pick. I want to
go to Lambo. I want to see a game at Lambeau.
I want to have that experience. Obviously, Doug, you get
to experience it, and that's awesome. I want to experience that.
Speaker 1 (34:36):
Man, I just come up.
Speaker 5 (34:38):
You can go, all right, because I'm such a jerk
around here and I like to make things very difficult. Hypothetically, Bursch,
if you did go to Lambo. Would Doug be willing
to put up free room and board during your stay?
Speaker 6 (34:54):
Ah?
Speaker 5 (34:54):
That silence speaks volumes.
Speaker 4 (34:56):
It's so awkward.
Speaker 1 (34:57):
Hold on, hold on, You asked Bursch and ask me Yeah.
Speaker 5 (35:01):
Oh, I asked burch Oh no, sorry, Doug, would you
be willing to put up Ryan Berschinger in your palatial
lake front coaching the state if he gets Packers tickets?
Speaker 1 (35:12):
Uh? Yeah, I mean, like head upon depends upon a
lot of other factors.
Speaker 7 (35:21):
Yes, you're a busy man.
Speaker 1 (35:23):
Yes, well no, who else is in town?
Speaker 2 (35:26):
Right?
Speaker 4 (35:26):
Of course?
Speaker 2 (35:27):
You know why.
Speaker 5 (35:28):
I appreciate Doug for being candid and honest about that's all.
Speaker 1 (35:31):
I mean, like like it's it's it's an open invite,
but it's not that open invites, Like, hey, is a
good is a good person?
Speaker 5 (35:40):
Kid?
Speaker 8 (35:41):
I'll be joining, I'll be joining burshing. We can stay
in your your loft or something, basement, basement, basement. H
We expect you to get the tickets and uh, Doug,
we have high expectations since you have all the hookups there.
Speaker 4 (35:54):
I think you have a key to Lambo, don't you.
So you're in there a lot.
Speaker 1 (35:57):
So what you're saying is you guys aren't coming.
Speaker 4 (36:00):
If you say I got tickets and stay in the basement, all.
Speaker 1 (36:04):
Right, get you tickets, Okay. But it's the it's the feeling.
It's it's the way in which there was no ask there.
Speaker 6 (36:14):
That.
Speaker 1 (36:15):
Yeah, that's not the way it's gonna happen.
Speaker 4 (36:18):
I am a part owner, Doug, I am, Oh, that's true.
Speaker 1 (36:22):
If that's real ownership, you should get your own tickets.
Speaker 2 (36:24):
That's all right.
Speaker 5 (36:27):
With that out of the way, Uh, Doug, You've got
the second pick.
Speaker 1 (36:33):
Places I'd like to go in the NFL.
Speaker 5 (36:36):
NFL bucket list. It could be places. It could be
an idea, something you'd like to see the league do,
just anything. But yeah, it could definitely be a place
you'd like to go.
Speaker 1 (36:46):
Gosh, golly, I've been to the places. I think most
of the places I want to go. I've never seen
a game in Seattle. I'd like to go see game
in Seattle.
Speaker 5 (36:55):
That's good, good choice. And you know the thing about
Seattle is you can stay downtown. You can walk to
the game. You don't have to spend two hours and
acres of parking lots. You can just walk downtown, walk
right up to Loominfield, Iowa. Sam, you've got the third pick.
Speaker 8 (37:10):
Well, Ryan and I are both Packer fans, so of
course I wanted to say go to Lambeau because I've
not been there either. But I will slightly modify that
and I will say, how about tailgate at Lambeau?
Speaker 4 (37:22):
Okay, and Green Bay's gonna have a good team this year,
tailgate at Lambeau.
Speaker 8 (37:26):
I mean, Wisconsin's got great beers, They've got great cheese
and sausage. I'm sure the tailgating scene there, I mean
they're not. It is the bomb dot Com. So I'd
love to tailgate at Lambeau. I don't even have to
go to a game. Let's tailgate the Bomb dot Com.
Huh y, yes, sir, bringing it back.
Speaker 5 (37:44):
Okay, I got the next two, so I'll make it quick.
My two are such great ideas they will clearly never happen.
Number one, play the super Bowl one more time at
the Rose Bowl in passaging.
Speaker 4 (37:59):
Great job, Isaac, that's excellent.
Speaker 5 (38:00):
And the other one that will never happen. No more
international games. Again, great idea, but it will never happen. Sam,
You've got the next pick.
Speaker 8 (38:09):
So I honestly thought you would pick something like, go
see a game in Dublin, but you want you want
nothing to do with that? I ooh, all right, you
know what for my I'm gonna say, either, whoever's more hospitable,
hang out in the section of it is it they
called the dog.
Speaker 4 (38:24):
Pound for the Browns. Or hang out.
Speaker 8 (38:26):
With a bunch of Raiders fans and see how wild
things get being there their turf with all their shoulder
pads and you know, silver and black one of those
two fans sections, And see if I survive the entire game.
Speaker 5 (38:39):
Are you in civilian clothes or are you wearing the
garb of the opposing team that day?
Speaker 8 (38:43):
You know, I think I'd have to either go neutral
or dress up like a Raider fan or a Browns fan.
Speaker 4 (38:48):
Smart man, Yeah, you gotta disguise yourself.
Speaker 5 (38:50):
Seventh pick Doug.
Speaker 1 (38:57):
Hm hm hm hmmm. Ideas games I'd like. I actually
I haven't seen a game in Arrowhead.
Speaker 5 (39:15):
Ahead, Okay, there's room in the Kelsey slash Swift. Sweet,
I'm sure.
Speaker 2 (39:21):
And final goes to you.
Speaker 7 (39:23):
Let's jump through a table with the Bill's Mafia.
Speaker 5 (39:27):
Oh yeah, our Byron guys, I don't know Jason's gonna
be jumping through a table, they find out they've got
to or else. It's not an authentic experience.
Speaker 4 (39:36):
That's the game. This is game time on The Doug
Gottlieb Show.
Speaker 1 (39:45):
Great show check on our brand new YouTube channel, just
