(00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Greetings, Welcome inside. It
is the Dug Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio.
Jason Smith Rob Parker in for Doug. We've spent the
last forty five minutes dissecting Sam Donald and how great
he is. Hey, Jason, if you're a Jets fan and

(00:44):
Jets fans have suffered for a long time looking for
that trip back to the super Bowl since ninet nine. Yeah, thanks,
I'm sorry. I don't mean to rub it in, but
Sam Donald. I know it's a preseason game. I know
it doesn't count, but there's a big difference between your
guy looking good that first time out and your guys

(01:07):
stinking up to joint where you go, Oh, there were
five franchise quarterbacks out there. We got the wrong one.
Nobody said that after his performance. No, we'll get to
that coming up in a few minutes. We have the
Big Jets Redskins fight at training Campa Diego. I think
they fought over how good Sam Donald was. I think
that's why they had that brawl. It was it wasn't
a late hit. They said, hey, Sam is great, No

(01:28):
he's not. They would throw punches Throne. But speaking of punches,
thrown Tiger Woods through just about every punch he could
at Brooks Capta yesterday and it didn't matter. Kepco wins
the PGA Championship, finishes sixteen under par Tiger Woods fourteen
under in second place. A phenomenal final round. Everybody flocked
to their TVs. It was one of those moments where

(01:50):
Tigers and the Tigers, and no matter what you were doing,
it was I gotta get to the TV to see
if he could actually do it. He starts sticking shots
down the back nine. You're thinking maybe, maybe, maybe, and
Kepta says, nope, I'm gonna give you. Here's a three
and thirty eight yard drive on sixteen. Here's the three
fifty yard drive and he wins. But it's all about
Tiger Woods. Is he back? Rob Parker, No, he's not back.

(02:13):
And you know what. I was a sour push yesterday
who just was like, I'm sorry, I'm not falling for
this again. Tiger Woods. Jason will be back when he wins.
He hasn't won a major in a decade two thousand eight.
Do we know what year this is? And he hasn't

(02:36):
won a tournament I think since uh in five years,
but a long time. It's been a long time. And
I get it. But this is how much and I'll
I'll use the term how pathetic the Tiger Woods fan
base is, you hear me? Pathetic? It's not about him
winning anymore. They they don't even It's only about him

(02:57):
competing and being in the on and that's good enough
for them. They want to embrace him, celebrate him for
not winning. I don't think you should ever get with that.
I don't care. I get it. He was beat up,
he was injured, he was you know, not playing for
a while. I get all that. It's a process. He

(03:18):
has to get back to a certain place, Jason, But
don't celebrate not winning. I'm not buying that. I always
say this sports has a short menu. Wins and losses.
That's all that's all there is. Don't celebrate all. Tiger's
officially back. He's this, he's that because he was in
the did you see that, Oh he almost won? He

(03:39):
didn't almost win, he didn't win. This is the thing
with Tiger Woods coming off yesterday is that I see
I'm actually okay with the fans. Hey, we're just happy
he's backing in the conversation because it makes golf more
fun watching. And look, we watched the end of the
Open Championship. We watched the ends. Of course it's better,
but I live in reality where and Tiger Woods, you

(04:00):
can tell he believes he's back. He knew he wasn't winning,
but that fist pump on eighteen after he dropped that putt,
and the and the interviews after where he was smile
and glowing, and you could tell he thinks he's back.
But the real story in yesterday, and this is why
Tiger Woods is not going to make it back. And Pep,
you're not gonna start saying, oh, Tigers back now, Oh

(04:20):
he's got and he's gonna watch next year. All these
majors is that the golfers now are too good. They're
too good. When Tiger first came up through two thousand eight,
he dominated a bad era of golf. All the best
players were all oh, they were all ending their careers.
But but you have Norman was ending. I give him

(04:41):
credit for winning, dominating. If it feels not great, then
you should dominate, right, if you're that good, And and
he won unprecedented a number of times. But all those
great golfers were all at the very end of their careers.
Fred Couples was at the end of his run. The
only guy who was still in was singled that's right, Wow,

(05:02):
you're going back in the way back machine. But even
the new guys who came up, who were the best
golfers in that run, you can say, okay, well, Jim
Furick alright, Retief Goosen, VJ Singh, Ernie else is at
the end of his prime. And the new guys coming
up were Phil Mickelson. And it took him from when
Phil Mickelson arrived on the scene, took him eight years
to win a major. Serge Garcia it took him twenty years.

(05:23):
It was a bad era. So Tiger won those. Now
these guys today they are so much better. Tiger never
had a guy like Brooks. Kept you watched yesterday, look
at Tiger. These heroic shots, sweating bullets as he's walking
down the fairway waving, slapping hand and brooks Kepta is like, Nope,
here's a three and thirty eight drive off the tea.
You are not winning. I am running away with this.

(05:45):
And that's what people call him fanos on Twitter. So
he had he had the amually, he had the glove.
He's like, I got the final Infinity Stone. Tiger, You're
going home. There's too many guys like this that can win.
There's too many players that are You'll say, and he'll
never win again. Major if I put the over, and
I've thought about this, I've said this for about a
year and a half now, is that if you put
the over unders at like one and a half, are

(06:07):
you taking the over for Tiger or the under? I'm
still taking the under because he's forty two, forty three,
he's always had injury problems. He's not gonna suddenly get healthier.
And look at the last two times. Was the last
time Jack? Yeah, but he went a long time. I'm
just saying, could he win one? Now? These could have
been too that he should have been able to win.
Now this one would have been too tough. But the

(06:29):
Open Championship. Surely you're in the lead on the back nine,
that's when Tiger, that's when you gotta win. But the
guys are too good, and no one playing now is
walking around saying, boy, I hear that roar Tigers behind me.
He's doing something. They all say the same thing, Hey,
what did you think during the back nine when you
heard the roars going up at fourteen and fifteen? And
they all say, oh, I thought that was cool. Let
they told me that was like the old days with Tiger.

(06:50):
I thought that was kind of fun. But I'm focused
in and I'm winning. There's there was no guys even
like like Brooks captin. There's no guys like him that
we're playing years ago that are playing out. There's just
two many guys. The Tiger's got to overcome to win
like that. I just think Tiger Woods was as good
as a god. And and for people to just be

(07:11):
accepting of this, Tiger Woods like close but no cigar.
Tiger Woods and everybody want to revel in it. People
attack me on Twitter because I said I wasn't in.
I said when he wins, I'll be I'll be back in.
I'll be interested. He can win. If he wins a major, right,
then I go, oh, wait a minute, maybe he can

(07:33):
eat out. What does he need four more? No? I know,
but I'm saying, if he wins, be could you gotta
win one? You gotta win one before you win you
can even. That's all I'm saying. So until he wins one,
I'm not in. I'm not rooting against him. I'm not rooting.
I'm just saying, I'm not gonna all these Tiger Woods
false alarms. Everybody getting all worked up, telling everybody Tigers back,

(07:56):
and he's not back. Can you win? When you win one,
then you're back. He didn't won anything in a long time.
The last time Tiger Woods won a major. Sportswriters, we're
using typewriters. That's how long ago it's been. He's a
typewriter in two thousands. The hunting peck method. You were
trying to you were filing on a MODI, right. I

(08:19):
never in my career, I never used the tiewriter. But
you know what I'm saying. You know, we were still
faxing in our studies using the telephone modem, not email.
We're using the modem. You know what it dialed up
exactly connect sure the early days of the internet. We're
not good. Unbelievable. It is the Doug Gottlieb Show here

(08:44):
on Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports Radio dot Com and
I Heart Radio. Jason Smith, Rob Parker in for Doug.
Hit us up on Twitter at how about a Frescott?
Rob is at Rob Parker FS one will have more
on Tiger coming up. But straight ahead, oh by, we
got Tabo Sweeney stopping by Clemson head coach. Tons of
big stuff to get to in college football. And why

(09:05):
will Brett Farve be a part of the conversation. Well,
I'll tell you why. That's coming up next right here
on Fox. Be sure to catch live editions of The
Doug got Leap Show week days at noon Eastern three
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart
Radio app. Welcome inside. It is the Doug gott Leap Show.
Jason Smith, Rob Parker in for Doug Today, Happy Monday.

(09:26):
Time to get some college football. We're getting there within
twenty days of kickoff and joining us now on the
hotline Cleston head coach, Dabo Sweeney coach, Welcome to the show.
How are you. I'm great? Oh yeah, I know you're
well because I know you know as much as as
great answers you given interviews. I'm sure what it felt
like to catch a pass from Brett Farve the other

(09:47):
day at practice. You can go into great detail and
tell us all about that. Yeah, yeah, that was he
and about the same age. So we actually played against
each other when I was at Alabama and he was
a Southern Miss sophomore year. He beat us uh coach
Stalin's first ever game in Alabama. I didn't even know
who Brett Farv was. All I know is we got

(10:07):
beat by Southern Myths and and uh. But I followed
him his whole career from that point on and really
never really got to meet him and um, but so yeah,
I always dreamed of maybe catching passes from Brett Farve
and didn't really happen the way I dreamed about it.
But hey, nonetheless I got to experience that uh last week.

(10:27):
And he can still he can still sing it, man. Uh.
I think he purposely through the first couple a little wobbly, uh,
just to kind of check me out, I think he wrote,
and then he saw, Okay, he's got pretty good hands,
so so then he just started ripping it with some
tight spirals on it, but we had it was a
lot of fun just to I mean, how many people
get to play catch with Brett Farve? I mean it

(10:48):
was really cool and didn't have He had on just
shorts and is shoes and a T shirt. That was it.
You know, I would have been disappointed if he had
showed up, you know, in in a suit or something.
And I got you there. There's some serious stuff going
on in college football as well at Ohio State. I

(11:08):
just want you to chime in on the You know
how hard it is for a head coach when you
have to be in charge of the players and the
coaches and what Urban Meyer is going on? How much?
How much have you followed this and know what's uh,
what he's dealing with right now is he's suspended by
the university. I don't, you know, I don't really know

(11:30):
much about it. I don't I don't know much about it, um,
you know than what what I've heard and just a
little bit that I've read. So you know, really not
fair to comment on anything that's happening there. I can
just I just know, you know what we do here
and and um uh you know our focus, uh that
we have here at Clemson and this team and and

(11:50):
um um just but but it's certainly any time you
you have the privilege of of you know, leading a
bunch of people. Uh, there's a lot of responsibility that
comes with that. I was gonna say that that that's it.
I mean, I wouldn't expect you to know what's going
on there, but as as a head coach, because we've
seen it, we saw that Penn State. You know you

(12:13):
you you you run the football program. How tough is
it to make to be able to monitor everything? I
guess that's my question to you. Oh well, I mean
that's certainly anytime you got a hundred hundred twenty players
and a bunch of staff and all those things. I
just think that you, you know, you just have to
have good processes in place. And I think the biggest

(12:34):
thing is just you know, for me, you try to
surround yourself with good people and uh, you know that's
that's always going to be the case. And you know,
there's no utopia, there's no place where nobody is immune
to uh issues from time to time, regardless of what
those things may be. UM, I just think it's how

(12:55):
you respond to those things, uh, that really uh determines
whether something is as related or de escalated or whatever.
Uh you know, So for me, I just I just
try to have good people, and good people make mistakes.
I just try to surround myself with great people and
stay focused on, you know, what I'm here to do,
and that's lead these young people and and and obviously

(13:16):
we want to be a great football team, but you
know that's not really why I coach. You know, I
really want to have a positive impact on the lives
of my players and my staff and uh, you know,
just try to, um, you know, have a have a
program of consistency and discipline and character and and all
those things. So but it's it's definitely uh just like

(13:38):
I mean, it's hard to run a household, uh you know,
as as if you're a parent, you can have three kids,
and so it's definitely a challenge. But uh, you know,
I love having the opportunity to to mold and direct
the path of of so many people. Bloods and head
coach Swing our guest here on Fox Sports Radio. Obviously,

(13:59):
you know the goings on at Maryland. Also taking up
a lot of time here is they placed their head
football coach d J. Durkin on paid administrative leave investigating
allegations of abuse and disparagement in the program, unfortunately, surrounding
the tragic death of offensive lineman Jordan McNair. How hard
is it as a coach when you're trying to motivate
players to to whether it's in the workout, whether it's

(14:20):
on the practice field, Hey, come on, you gotta give
me a little more. You gotta give me a little
moreargument more, and no one to pull back and say, Okay,
maybe it's time now to stop. We take a break,
a water break, something like that. That has to play
into whatever you want to try to accomplish on the
practice field or in the weight room or somewhere like that. Yeah,
and again, I think that's where you have to make
sure you've got the right people around you and and
you know, you, um, the trust and respect that has

(14:44):
to be in place. Um, you know, between the coaches
and the players and everyone involved. I mean, it's certainly
a tough game and always will be a tough game.
It's not a game that's gonna be played in the
air conditioning and things like that. It's gonna be hard. Um,
But I think for me, you know, obviously, I try
to lean on my experience, um that I've had and um,

(15:08):
and then you know I don't. That's why you have
doctors and trainers and all those things. You try to
make sure that that you have a lot of checks
and balances in place. UM, and we certainly, we certainly
have that. But but at the end of the day, UM,
you know, it's these parents, you know. There they entrust you, uh,
with their with their child, you know, for their mental

(15:30):
and physical well variant being, and UM, you know that's
a huge responsibility something we take very seriously. And I think, uh, um,
you know, it's it's something that um, everybody is always
conscious of, you know, I mean the type of environment
and culture that you have, and um, you know, for us,
I mean going on my tent tears the head coach here, Uh,

(15:52):
you know, I love my players, and I think at
the end of the day, that's whether you're tough on
them or or whatever is going on. I think, end
of the day, UM, you established that trust and respect
through you know, loving them, and UM, you know that's
what we've tried to do here. Coach. Let's get to
some other things heading on right now with college football

(16:13):
as we get ready for the games. Your team has
just been uh had their odds updated for the playoff
odds at four to one. You guys talk about that?
Is that seep into you guys at practice where you
are every year Now you're up at the top and
mentioned for the college football playoffs. Uh, we only talked
about it just to the point of making sure everybody
knows that it really doesn't matter, um that all that

(16:35):
stuff is based on past you know, performance, It's based
on what we've done last year and the years before
and the consistency that we've established and so so people
would kind of become easy to kind of world write
Clemson in there. Uh, give them, give us the benefit
of the doubt, and we've learned that our programs earned
that and that's great. But but we really just talked

(16:55):
more about you've got to start over every year, and
you know, you've got to prove it all over a
mindset of you have something to prove every time you stay.
You take the field, and you never arrive you're always
trying to get better. Uh. So you know, we addressed
it from that standpoint, But that's really about it. Our

(17:16):
guys know that all the preseason stuff is just hype
and again based on past uh stuff and um become November,
it's gonna be based on present performance. And and that's
what we focus on, is just being great today, um,
and just embracing this new journey, accepting the challenge of
a new season, and and uh, the challenge of camp,

(17:39):
the challenge of the grind, the challenge of of competition,
all those things, and um, you know, that's really about
all we talk about when it comes to that stuff.
I want to ask you about one of your former players,
receiver Mike Williams with the Chargers, who um is having
a good training camp so far, and he's healthy. What
can people expect the second year because last year he

(18:00):
will didn't get a chance to play that much. Well,
he's healthy, you can expect, uh, you know, incredible, Uh,
you know, a year of production from him. I mean,
because if he's on the field, he's gonna be productive.
He's he's he's as good as I've ever been around.
Gotta you know, just just loves to play. Great bodies, big,

(18:21):
strong runs, well, unbelievable ball skills and um, and he's
just become a very polished guy at the position. So
I think that the only thing that that will hold
him back would be just you know, him not being
able to be on the field, you know, from some
type of injury or something like that. So it was
unfortunate last year with the back that he was missed

(18:43):
so much time. But he did get the chance to
come back and play a little bit, I think towards
the end of the year and kind of get his
feet wet. And you know, all all reports to this
point have been he's had a great camp and um
and like I said, if he's if he's on the field,
he's gonna he's gonna be an impactful player for him.
Have you talked abou actually with that quarterback? Speaking of quarterback, Yeah,

(19:03):
have you talked to Deshaun Watson all in the past
few months, Yeah, I sure have. And he's doing great
and excited about uh, you know, just getting back out
there and with his guys and leading that team. He
feels great. He's very confident and m you know, he's
ready to go, you know, because every time he plays well,
I feel like you should wear a sweatshirt that just

(19:25):
says I was right telling you. You don't get too
many coaches who would jump out onto on the ledge
like you did, and you tried to tell everybody about him, well,
he's special, you know, and I just, you know, I
just you know, I wanted him to It just it's
hard to articulate the things that I knew about him.

(19:47):
It's easy to see him on tape, and I mean,
he was the first rounder to pick for a reason,
and you know, it's easy to see his skill and
and his ability to do things. And the Texans traded
way up to get him for a reason. So you know,
it's well documented the type of player was. But for me,
I just I don't think people really understood the things

(20:08):
that I knew. And that's the things you don't see.
And that's just his love of preparation, his demeanor, his poise,
just how smart he is, how his how how he
what type of relationship guy he was, you know, how
he impacted everybody else around him, even even if he
didn't say a word. You know, he just creates this

(20:29):
belief um and it just it just you just want
to play hard for the guy, and everybody around him
gets better when he steps on the field, and it's
just amazing and that's what the great ones do. And
just just again, his his consistency in in who he
was as a as a young person. You know, the
guy graduates in two and a half years and and

(20:52):
you just those are rare things. That just tells you
the type of focus that he has, his character, his integrity. Uh. Um,
he's a winner. And so you know the great, the
best of the best. Um, those that's what they have
in common. You know, they're they're the awards are great
and all that stuff, but really they're just driven to win.

(21:13):
They're driven to be great, and they're never really satisfied.
They always think they can get better. And and that's
that's how de Shawn is. And so I'm just really
uh happy for him. He's in a great situation and
and uh, you know, he got a chance to show
everybody last year what he could do. It's unfortunate that
he got hurt, but I think he demonstrated that he

(21:35):
belongs in that league and can play at a high level.
And and I think that's you that's where you'll see
him pick up this year. Coach, are getting ready for
the season. You also did a lot of great work
with You're all in team foundation. What's going on right now.
I appreciate it. Yeah, it's we We we take a
lot of pride in in um in our foundation and
got so many great people that that help us really

(21:55):
support this community. And uh, you know, we had Holly
row came in this summer. We we raised three dollars
for breast cancer research in just one day. Uh she
was awesome, Uh speaking to the crowd and and um
and so just just a lot of things going on
with all M team foundation and and uh just trying
to impact this community, uh through with with health and

(22:18):
education issues that that we want to you know, uh
make a difference in and help make the state, this community,
and hopefully our country better. It was the tenth annual
Ladies Clinic. The program just hosted raised more than three
hundred and fifty thousand dollars for breast cancer detection and treatment. Coach,
appreciate your time with us. Best to luck. We know
we'll talk to you absolutely. All right, guys, you guys

(22:40):
have a great day too. All right, there goes Dabo Sweeney.
You know, the funny thing about him is that of
all of what he's done to succeed, what really impressed
pressed me the most about him the last couple of years.
You know. I mean, I'm a Syracuse guy, and of
course Syracuse's biggest win and you know, since I've been alive,
was upset in Clemson and he came to the syric
used locker room after the game to congratulate them. I

(23:02):
remember that that was very very classic. Yeah, because you
know that's the thing, is girl, because I played football
high school all the time, and you would get it
all the time if if our our team would lose,
but we played well, the coaching team cover boy, you
guys played great. That was awesome, but you want it's
easy to do when you win, but when you lose,
it's really in a game like that, you know what
I mean. I thought that was very impressive. But you

(23:23):
could just tell what kind of guy. And the Deshaun
Watson thing, I remember that so vividly because he was like,
he's like Michael Jordan's I mean, you remember he went
on such a limb talking about how but and we
get it. He was the first round draft pick, not
that he was a bomb or nobody knew who he was,
but he really stepped out there and uh he called it.

(23:45):
I begged the Jets to draft to Shaun Watson, just
take to shot. Now. I'm happy now, but I begged
him to take him. I wanted, I was all in.
I was rotting for Watson. I was gonna have t
shirts made up. And don't forget even Houston, don't forget.
They didn't even start. Remember was a Savage started and
everybody was Lifetime was like what Yeah, the Savages agent

(24:06):
got mad. I don't know what he did to lose
the job. And every week it was I had to
Shawn Watson responsible for five touchdowns. That's what it was.
How about that? That's what it was. The Doug got
Leap Show on Fox Sports Radio. Jason Smith, Rob Parker
in for Doug twitter At. How about a Fresca rob
At Rob Parker fs one. Speaking of Sam Donald, he
could be starting sooner than you think you. Oh, by

(24:28):
the way, there was a big fight yesterday between the
Jets and the Redskins. Yeah. We'll get into all the
big NFL news coming up a minute, but first let's
find out what's trending here on Fox Jason and Rob
Good Afternoon. The Toledo Blade newspaper reported today that former
Ohio state receivers coach Zack Smith was arrested in twenty
thirteen in Dublin, Ohio, for operating a vehicle while intoxicated,

(24:52):
a previously unreported arrest. The arrest occurred while Smith was
on the Buckeyes coaching staff, yet there was no mention
of the arrest in Smith's publicly released Ohio State personnel file.
America's college football reporter Brett McMurphy noted that the judge
who subsequently reduced the charge is an Ohio State alum

(25:13):
and also just happens to be an Ohio State President's
Club member. In other college football a Jura Spendence news,
police have arrested two more suspects in the July burglary
of the home of Nebraska head coach Scott Frost. A
twenty year old man and a sixteen year old boy
have been charged. A seventeen year old girl had been
arrested earlier. About five thousand dollars worth of shoes, rings,

(25:36):
and memorabilia were robbed from Frost's home. In a related story,
the College Football Playoffs selection Committee, which robbed Frosts Central
Florida team of a spot in the College Football Playoff
last season, remains at large. Golf, the final out of
the PGA Championship Sunday or in its highest TV rating
and nine years. It also tied the highest overnight rating

(25:57):
for any nonmaster's golf telecast since And finally, in the NBA, today,
Carmelo Anthony signed is one year, two point four million
dollar contract with the Houston Rockets. Jason and Rob back
to you, Thanks, I were love here. Today's show brought
to you by Auto Zone. We've all had a bad
day on the golf course. Sadly, not always easy to

(26:17):
find a fix for your golf game, but it is
easy to find a fix for your check engine lighted
Auto Zone. The free auto Zone Fixed Finder tool find
the likely issue, saving you money down the road to
get in the zone. Auto Zone. Well, clearly, here we
are after the first week of preseason football, getting said
for week two and well, look the biggest stories the
Jets Uh Sam Donald a phenomenal debut Friday night. That's

(26:39):
all we've been thinking about for three days. Jets, Jets Jet.
In fact, when the Jets Redskins brawl happened yesterday viral
video there was a late hit and the teams are
going crazy. All I'm thinking of is Sam Donald needs
to be as far away from this as pod get
out of the don't get get a pile, be careful,
don't get hurt, don't fall on your right shoulder. Right
there should be five people holding him back, getting him out,

(27:02):
like in the movies, you know, like when you see
when the president's around and then there's you know, someone's
like trying to kidnap him. There's like five secret Service
guys right away that usher him out of door. There
should be five guys for dawn, Oh there's a fight,
Let's usher him out, because it would only be like
jet like if he would be like wind up getting
in a frecas and even say it, I don't say

(27:23):
what are you doing? I'm sorry, what are you doing?
But instead it did not happen. So that's it. And
I don't blame you because if you're I would say
that the Jetropolitan, if you're a New York Jetropolitan fan,
you gotta be feeling a little giddy. I know it's
been a lot of bad years and a lot of
bad things, but you saw a guy who you believe

(27:44):
finally Jets got damn man, and I didn't think it
was gonna happen. If you remember they were supposed to
win two games, right, remember, and I remember this is
an awful roster. The Jets will win two games. Then
they started winning games. And if body said only the
Jets would blow it and not get their franchise quarterback

(28:05):
when a terrible rosta, only the Jets will win games,
and they still got their man once every fifty years.
I mean, that's why this is a franchise altering move.
The fact that the Browns fell in love with Baker Mayfield,
who played well in his preseason. Maybe he made a
couple of really nice throw See, you're excited. Basically, if
you have any of the rookie quarterbacks, they all showed okay,

(28:26):
nobody showed okay, boy, this is really difficult. They all
showed skills. The game wasn't too big for them, but
you're happy that that happened. The Giants pigheadedly deciding, Nope,
we're gonna take a running back. But why were you
take that when Sam Donald's there. No, now we're just
gonna double down. We're definitely taking a running back. You
want to let him go, that's absolutely fine, and the
Giants can watch the Jets run the back pages in

(28:46):
New York for the next twelve to fifteen years they
called Donald of Messiah, and I think it's the Daily
newsback page he made. So it wasn't about the stats.
But he made so many plays that rookie quarterbacks just
don't make. He hasn't uncan the ability to know where
the rush is. He made one play on a drive
when he threw a touchdown where he basically kept the
play alive and could feel the rush, took a step

(29:09):
up and then hit a wide receiver on the complete
and total backside of the field who was buying him. Everybody.
Everybody was over on the right side of the field
where and he just stopped turn and looked and it
was a twenty yard completion. And I saw that play
and then they showed the reply go he looked and
I know, but but I'm a Jet fan. I'm doing it. No,
he looked like Peyton Manning. No, it was a play
when you see Manning would he would he would have

(29:30):
kind of those feet in the happy feet. He's looking
to move where to throw the ball. He's happy feet
like I don't want to get and there's happy feet
like I gotta look someplace, and there's that that little
duck with the shoulder to miss the defensive end who's
coming in, and that stopping looking I'm throwing the other
side of the field. He made that throw, and I said,
oh my god, it's happening. What really has happening? He
looks like a quarterback like that, like the guy had
been dreaming about. Right, you've been dreaming about fifty years.

(29:52):
It's been a little time. May I used to go
to Shade Stadium and watch Jets games. I mean I
go that far back, so I do remember those days.
He actually threw three touchdown passes, but one was dropped,
one was called back, and then this one finally counted
third down and goal, all the way back to the
fourteen yard line. Donald out of the shotgun, dropped the throw,
steps up in the pockets, scrambles like throws at the

(30:14):
right pylon. It's gone dance singing side the end zone
as Charles Johnson, and he's got a jet touchdown the
toe tap by Johnson and Sam Donald does indeed have
his first three season touchdown pass as the quarterback of
the New York Chests. Then he walked on water and
very impressive, and he fed three people with three loaves

(30:36):
of bread. More than that, ye is that it was
three fish and five loads of Then he reinvented the wheel,
and then he built a better mouse trap. So those
are all things. But this is the big thing now,
is that we get news today, say Kwan Barkley kind
of had a tweak in his legged practice was seen
walking after. But here's Barkley now dinged up a little

(30:56):
bit of Giants practice. They certainly had the one great
run in his day be for the Giant. I don't
think he's gonna be a bust or anything, or it's
just that you can't when you have an all time
bad regular season like the Giants had there, like one
of the worst seasons ever in the history of a franchise,
and you have an aged quarterback in Eli Manning, and

(31:17):
you have five quarterbacks coming out of college, right, you
gotta make that pick. I just think it was I don't.
I don't get it. They were pig headed, and they
were they were dumb because they decided, well, we're gonna
stick with Eli, and then you get all the outcry
there's all these quarterbacks. And then instead of didn't he
be bench for Gino Smith, La, you get bench for

(31:38):
Gino Smith? You have to look in the mirror and say,
that's how bad it was. But they decided to not
only just double down on se Kwan Barkley, but let's
go over the top. This is the best prospect we've
seen in thirty years. Well, if that's the case, he
would have gone number one overall, all right, but you
decided to turn There was no way we could turn
our back on this guy. We couldn't take Sam Donald.
You know what, he's a running back. He's a running back.

(31:59):
You have a potential tenure running back, maybe less because
of the turnover the position, because of the injury problems,
or you have potential for ten twelve years at quarterback.
Eli is done, He is at the end of his run,
and they still decided, Hey, I'm happy, but that was
a horrible decision. The worst thing you could do in
sports is living the past, and I think the Giants

(32:20):
are living in the past. When you talk about Eli.
I get it. Two super bowls, beat the undefeated Patriots,
two m v P s in the Super Bowl, a
couple of great throws, right legendary throw. I get all that.
They gave them the parades for that. Look at the
last four years it's not a pretty picture. And if
you think the running back alone and and and uh,

(32:40):
you're you're big time receiver, finally being healthy is going
to fix Eli. I think you're mistaken. I really do.
I'm just happy where. I'm just happy that what for
first time in fifty years the sun shone on me.
I'm just happy with that Twitter out. How about a

(33:43):
like it's a holiday for you, haven't I'm gonna have
I'm in the middle of the day. You don't see
me around here in the middle of the day, So
I was I had to bring some much to bring
some of my ribs. No, no, I actually who lost
the bet the year here in the middle of right.
I know, it's unbelievable, And normally when I win bets,
it's always about chicken wings. Justin owes me some wings, right,

(34:04):
don't we gotta bet? During the NBA Finals true story
fourth I won fourteen out of fifteen wing bets, including
a three hundred wing bet Channon sharp loss. I said
that the Calves would get swept. He said that they
would win one game, so all they had to do

(34:25):
was win one game. It wasn't for the series. And
I want and he bet me three hundred wings. Did
you send half of those wings to j R? Smith?
Hellanks so much? But you know what I did. I
had them ordered into FS one and I shared them
with the whole crew because of course, you know I'm
not gonna eat him myself. No two hundred of them
and then leave the other hundred for everybody else. Right,

(34:46):
they get shared arst. It was great time now to
play a little big deal, little deal, no deal. Let's
do it. This is game time on the Doug Gottlie Show.
So for big deal, little deal, no deal, we welcome
to Isaac Lowan Kron who has a bunch of stories
here that we will tell you. If it's a big deal,

(35:08):
a little deal, or if it's no deal. I owe
what he got. Jason and Robbie got two NBA stories
for you, followed by two NFL stories. Adrian war Zanowski
report that the Los Angeles Clippers will not renew the
contract of TV analyst Bruce Bowen after one season due
to critical comments he made in a June radio interview

(35:29):
about potential free agent Kauhi Leonard now the Toronto Raptors.
Big deal, little deal or no deal, This is a
big deal. This shows you that Bruce Bowen, who works
for the Clippers, can't say something bad about a player
not on a Clippers broadcast on satellite radio, talking about

(35:51):
a guy that doesn't play for the Clippers and may
never play for the Clippers. That class of apparently you
gotta put a protective case around me. Can say anything
bad about them, big deal, because if you're an analyst,
now you don't think that that just sent shock waves
because like you said, it's one thing if you're on
the broadcast and you're ripping one of the stars on

(36:13):
the team, could you lose your gig? Yes, but they
just hope to get them mean not even there no
guarantees coming to the Clippers. It's just shocking. And Bruce
Bowen's up three time champ of analysts who worked at
ESPN for a long time. He's a big time analyst
and for them to just cut cut ties with him

(36:33):
like that is amazing. He's getting a phone call right now. Wait,
I got fired right Really? You know who's nervous right now?
Keith Hernandez my god. On Saturday Night, current Denver Nuggets
and former Cavaliers guard Isaiah Thomas said on Instagram live
of his former city, quote Cleveland was a bleep whole.

(36:56):
I can see why Lebron left again unquote. Must later
apologized big deal, little deal or no deal? Big deal? Dude,
don't you trying to secure a long term contract somewhere.
Why would you do this? Why would you put that
out there? And the other thing is while you're ripping
on Cleveland. Lebron was the one who got you out

(37:17):
of Cleveland when he played fourteen games there and it
was like, Okay, we we're done. We can't do this
with him. So why are you ripping on Cleveland? You
don't get any good? What points do you get by
doing this? Jason, Big deal number one, because it immediately
made me think of one of my favorite movies, The
Slums of Beverly Hills, when Alan Arkin would keep saying
we're moving. This place is a black hole. He said

(37:38):
it about twenty times in the movie. But this is
Isaiah Thomas. He's not a bad guy. He's not a
bad person, but you know what he does. He's a
guy that likes to talk. And when you hear someone
say he likes to talk, you think of guys like
Tara Owen's likes talking. No, no, he just likes to talk.
And he talks so much that eventually he says something
that oh, I wouldn't have said that. You know, you'll

(37:59):
just of his interviews with when he was at the Lakers,
they go like fifteen minutes long. It's like, dude, you
just have to stop talking. You just have to not
say that, because that's what got him in trouble. He
talked too much. In Cleveland. Oh, we have a lot
of guys here that they really don't want to win,
and we don't remember for five minutes. For five minutes,
the Lakers was the same thing. He just has to
not talk. And the same thing with this. He's talking

(38:20):
and talking to do an interview and it's very loose.
You realize the more you talk, the more you're gonna
say something that's gonna hurt you. And this is gonna
kill him. He lost a hundred million dollars in the
last eighteen months and it keeps talking and I don't
know what. What are you gonna make that up? Stop?
Sports stuck. Radio hosts will be in sports talk radio
when he's done, There you go. Apparently this also removes
Isaiah from future consideration to be the Cavaliers TV analyst,

(38:44):
staying in Cleveland. In the NFL, Brown's head coach Hugh
Jackson said Sunday that he decided to punish rookie receiver
Antonio Callaway for being cited for marijuana possession and a
suspended license last week by making him play for most
of Thursday's preseason opener against the New York Giants. Jackson said,
quote make him play as long as he could. There

(39:06):
were a couple of times he kept waving to come out,
and we said, no, stay in unquote big deal because
what they're doing is trying to backtrack on a really
horrible decision. This guy gets busted with marijuana, parts of
guns in his car, and they still take him on
the road and they allow him to play. They realized,

(39:26):
now that was a bad call, so let me say
the old Oh hey, I'll punish you by making you
play a lot. Ha ha. No, he's a rookie, he
got reps. That's then you rewarded him and brought him
on the road for and said, yeah, this this drugs
and gun stuff. Yet don't worry about it. Bad as
a big deal one. I think everybody's talking about how
Cleveland has changed. Why what would you reward a guy

(39:47):
in that situation. That's exactly what it was. And then
they try to like, yeah, he wanted to come out,
but we kept him in there and keep playing. We're
gonna make you play and then uh, I think you
Jackson might have got to contact high from the happening.
I didn't want him want to sidelock. This is game
time on The Dug Gottleip Show. And that's big deal,

(40:11):
little deal, no deal. I like that contact all right.
I like the thing was, Oh, I don't know what
happened in my car. I mean I had it chipped
and I I don't know guns in there? What else
was in there? There was it back I like people
on on on Twitter and the up going. It was
just gun parts. It wasn't a gun. Oh the backstrap
and bullets. Okay, that's oh, you're right, yeah, you know what.
I'm dumb. Yeah, yeah, you're go ahead, you have that.

(40:32):
You're a rookie just trying to get your way. We'll
be a choir boy. Can you do that until you
make the roster and make the team and what are
you doing? It's gonna make hard knocks that much more interesting,
I guess. So Fox Sports Radio, The Doug Gottlip Show,

with Mr Chris Broussard Sundays from six to nine pm
Eastern Time, and that's a fun little listen if you
ever get a chance, it is. I want to run

(41:35):
this bike because I've been working at ready for this.
I've been working on my Cris Brussard impression. Let's here,
all right, right here we go? Uh asked? Asked me
about a player in the NBA, asked my player at NBA.
Tell me about Lebron, James Lebron. I like him. I
don't love him, but I like him the Warriors. Look,

(41:56):
I get it. I get it with Lebron, but but Lance,
I don't get it. I like that. It's pretty good, right,
That is not that's not that's not that many people
have a CRISP brus sorry impression. It's pretty good. Obviously,
he you know, he puts his works together better. But
when I was coming through, yeah, listening to him do
the draft, when I was drafting, going oh, I'm starting again,

(42:18):
I like him. I don't like him. I like him.
And then when he and I have done a couple
of shows together, he'll actually will say that, and he'll
start laughing because he knows that I do sago. I
don't want to say that because I'm just gonna, you know,
do my what's coming. Absolutely, it's pretty good. Uh So today,
obviously we got big stuff in the NFL. We're gonna

(42:40):
have one of our insiders stopped by it a few
minutes breakdown all the big news. We had big debuts
this weekend, not just Sam Donald, but Tiger Woods nearly wins.
And I say this because he came in second, nearly
wins the p g A, the final major of the
year yesterday, comes in second. Brooks Kepta runs away with
the event at the end, finished his sixteen underpar Tiger

(43:01):
Woods looked like he was going to finish third. But
Adam Scott really, I mean, that's one thing we haven't
talked about. Adam Scott just completely threw up on himself.
Of the three storyline surrounding the PGA Championship, it's Tiger's
comeback number one. Brooks kept up winning like Thanos. You know,
people would call him Thanos on the internet yesterday because
the just the mind numbering consistency and thet drives. But

(43:24):
Adam Scott was right there the entire time, and he
was absolutely horrendous the last four or five holes and
he took himself completely. Was this moment to the point
he finished third, was it the moment you think? No,
I don't think it was the moment for him. I
think he got lost. He had a couple of bad shots,
and that happens to you because then you could just
tell his body language. He seemed to be questioning where

(43:44):
he was, how he was going to hit the ball,
and it just happened. Sometimes the goal you wouldn't think,
you know, forgot like Adam Scott was really good, it
would happen. I think people are rooting against him because
of his putter, because nobody likes that big putter. Where
he's holding it up the top and hitting it looks
like he's you know, he's got a big broom right
exactly sweep the ball into the hole. But no, I
I don't think that was it. I think he had

(44:04):
a couple of bad shots. Then mentally I think he
was he was out, and you know, the same thing
could have happened to Tiger. He had that big stick
on fifteen, that approach that was that was a birdie.
He's a shot off the lead, like, oh my god.
And then what did he do, which is what tiger
Wood so often does. Here comes my next he shot
and it's into the woods right, todd of bounds, right,
you know, he he. I don't get this is one

(44:25):
thing and the only answer I've gotten on this is
really going from Jason Sobel Golf Channel, ESPN Golf guy,
and I would say, I'd say Tom, I said, listen,
why do all these golfers, Tiger Wood specifically, why do
they sacrifice accuracy on the tea for another twenty five
or thirty yards when they hit less than their fare.

(44:46):
They're good enough to do this. Just knock it up there.
You don't have to kill it, you know what I mean?
If you're like kepto, who could I mean, at the
end he was every here's three thirty yards on a
line down the middle of the fairway. He was incredible.
But I'm like, why do they do because that's tigers
big thing is that he doesn't hit fairways. And it's like,
why can't hit the ball twenty yards less and hit
the ball and have a better shot when you're continually

(45:07):
having to get yourself out of trouble and talker, would
you know the kind of golf freeze and all these
guys on the tour that do this, they can get
themselves out of trouble, but eventually that's gonna come back
to haunt you. And is he is that just looking
for that big hit? You know what I mean? Like Jason,
because you would He told me, guys, just decide, I'm
just gonna hit it as far as I can. The
closer I get, the easier it is for me, no

(45:28):
matter what it is, and I'm gonna try and that
that's the best answer I've gotten this guys. No, and
they just decide I'm still gonna do this rather wanta
playing safe for whatever. I'm just saying, well, I'll just
knock it up there even if I have to take
me a little bit more to get there. Rather than
being safe, they'd rather just say I'm I'm gonna start
look where I'm at. You know what I mean. I
could make this. I could do it, go for it

(45:49):
on your irons or on your approach at that. But
when you're on the teeth, okay, this is the easy part.
This is this is where you know, I have a
long place to hand, don't have to really worry about it.
It going, you know, for as far as my accuracy,
this is where I could just and and still they
don't do it. I don't get that. And that killed
Tiger yesterday. But you saw he was coming off that
and he hit that shot and he gave he stuck

(46:10):
that approach. You're like, oh my god. People thought club
because because it was like he knew that was it, right, Yeah,
he he knew he had to get at least get
at least two more strokes. He wasn't gonna get him
after hitting that. But the big debate, now, obviously here's
the second major in a row where Tiger Woods allegedly,
Oh he's back, he's playing. Well, you don't think he's back.

(46:31):
I don't And I know a lot of people that
you know on on Twitter. We're getting on my case
about it because I'm just not buying into it. I've
heard all the tigers Tiger's back. No Tiger has to win, Jason,
that's when Tiger will be back. He has not one
in a decade, ten years. You see my ten fingers, one, two, three,

(46:54):
ten years. Tiger's back has been his problem. Well, but
that you're right, it has how long he hasn't been
back since his back? Right, but anyway it's been hasn't
been back back? Very nice, that's good too. And he
hasn't won anything, forget a major, in five years. It's
been a long time. So when people like to proclaim

(47:17):
that he's back because he's in the hunt because when
he finished second, that's good enough. This is where Tiger
fans are now. Not winning is okay? It should never
be good not to win. It's a short menu. Here's
a menu, Jason, look at it. Wins and losses in sports,

(47:39):
not nothing else. If it doesn't matter, then when we
talk about the Buffalo Bills, there would be in the
conversation as one of the greatest teams ever. Why do
we never mention more of believing when we talk about
the greatest coaches of all time. He took a team
to four straight Super Bowls. You're not how hard that is?
Four straight? They didn't win. Act So he's not in

(48:01):
a conversation. Jim Kelly is not in a conversation as
one of the all time great quarterbacks. It's about winning.
And I get it. He was injured, he was he
was out of golf, he wasn't playing. I get all that,
and there's a process, and but he hasn't won in
ten years. It's it's he's not back. Win Tiger, and
then I'll consider you back. See here's the thing. I

(48:23):
do think he's back. You know there's an asteris right there.
You understand. I think he is back. Two where he's
going to be. This is Tiger, And you know Tiger
thinks he's back all the way that fist pump on
eighteen after he made that long, he drained that long,
but that kept him in it. But you knew Kepto
would have to throw up on himself and he wasn't

(48:44):
gonna do that. But you know that guy, and the
way he talked after the round, you could tell Tiger
thinks he's back. Listen. You can hear the smile in
his voice as he talked about his round. Yeah, but
I'm in a chartered, uncharted territory because I played hard.
A bit of a struggle with my game today. I
was hanging in there, just grinding it out and try
to make his name bird as possible. Course was given
it up, and I made a little bit of a

(49:04):
run and looks like I wanna come up with a
couple of shots short. I don't know that I would
have gone with that analogy if I'm Tiger Woods. But
that's okay. This is who he's going to be. Is
he going to be a guy that once in a
while can stay in the thick of it at a major? Yeah,
But you know what, there's lots of guys like that. Now.
He's too old, he's got too many injury problems. He's

(49:24):
not gonna be able to play consistently enough to be
the player he once was. So can he compete? Yeah,
but this is the Tiger everybody's got to get used to.
But I don't understand this part. Is everybody's proclaiming that
he's back back to what he's back In the conversation,
he's back to being a guy we care about. He's
back being someone that Hey, once in a while I

(49:45):
can turn on the TV on Sunday afternoon and be
riveted to it because it'll be like it was ten
years ago. And he loves retro. I want to be
doing what I was doing. I mean, I watched me TV.
I watch all the old TV shows. I get it.
I love what I'm sure, so I get it. People
who want to feel good, they remember when Tiger had
that run of success and they want to relive that. Oh,

(50:06):
this would be great. But all I'm saying is to
to go out of your way and make this whole
proclamation that he's back without winning anything. Let him win one.
It doesn't mean that he's gonna catch Jack right just
because he wins one, but that I would say he
made it all the way back. He hadn't one in
a decade. He was People thought he was finished, he

(50:27):
would never win. That's when, to me, you say he's back,
that's a coming back. Well, this is this is him back.
This is the new normal. This. You know, you get
to your point in your life with many things realize okay,
this is the new normal. When you know most people
it's physically all right, I can't do this anymore, and
this is this is my new normal. My playing days
are over, my softball playing days, I can't bowl anymore.

(50:47):
Whatever it is, this is and you realize, Okay, this
is my new normal. This is Tiger's new normal. Okay, back,
but you suck sweating bullets yesterday and just everything going
through his head you could tell and kept go was
still yeah, that's not But I'm just gonna completely dismiss
you from this conversation. This is what you have to
realize when Tiger being back, this is his new normal.
If he can contend once in a while, that's what

(51:09):
you can expect. Everybody still is on this hangover like
it was with Mike Tyson, right, no matter what was
going on with Mike Tyson. No, he's gonna get back
and beat the sap out of everybody and be the
heavyweight champion. That's good, it's gonna happen. That's a good
comparison because that's what it was like after Mike Tyson
couldn't win or ever finish a fight or it was
always some problem, right you remember with him, and it

(51:30):
was all over just he was never going to be
that guy again. And that's why I have a reservation
to talk about somebody being back, because to me, back
means for Tiger Woods means winning. That's being back. So
once he wins, he'll be back for you. Right, and
he doesn't win, he's never back. No, he's never got back.

(51:50):
He never won again. I could pay attention to him.
I will focus in on Tiger Woods when he wins again,
that's what I need. What if he wins a mini
golf in Viti, well, but then at least he would
have he would have a win like many many golf.
Is that we talking he hits in the clown's mouth.
Maybe I might take a look and say, okay, uh no,
he would not be back even on that. Does he

(52:12):
have to be back? Does he have to win a major?
Or does he have to win again? To win? It's
been five I would like to see him win on
the tour and then you could say, well, maybe he
can win a major. So so winning to me is
very important. I think that's why people play. I hate
when people want to give parades to people don't win
and accolades. And I was on Facebook yesterday I saw

(52:35):
so many people going you know, giving these testimonials about Tiger,
and I was like, testimonial, did did I miss something?
I get it for a second, and and it was
nice and and people flocked to their TVs and their
friends text him, turn on golf Tigers and you know
what I mean, could win? I get all that. But
he didn't win. Yeah, but see, but that's but that's party.

(52:57):
I'm okay with that. I'm okay. I look, it's better
for off. Clearly golf has not gotten their next super
They've had, you know, a decade to realize. Okay, we
gotta get our next superstar. And because Tiger, but nope,
it's still Tiger Woods. And as much you want to
push guys like Jordan's speech, its gonna until he can't
play anymore. I get it because of the impact he
had on the sport. Everybody eight when Tiger was at

(53:18):
his greatness, right, money, TV ratings, all that. So I
do get Tigers always gonna be there until he goes
to the senior Tour and stopped playing golf. Well then
he started. But if he wins on the senior Tour,
will he be back? No, he's kno gon back. Then
he'll get I'll give him a couple of coupons he
can go to the early Bird special. You know he
does like Perkins. He does does have only problem is

(53:42):
he likes him more in the park a lot that
he does in the restaurant. I just set that one
up on a tea for you. Sing out of here.

Doug Got Leap Show. Jason Smith, Rob Parker in for

(54:26):
Doug today as we get set to break down all
the big NFL headlines coming off a week one of
the preseason and joining us now on the hotline a
man who is printing up T shirts saying, I survived
the Jets Redskins brawl of two thousand and eighteen. Longtime
NFL insider Adam Kaplan, who was feet away of this

(54:49):
brawls that took place yesterday a practice. Adam, first of all, glad,
you're okay, Yes, thank you, And I could have used
one of your frescos. But I survived, Yes I did.
Did you have a fresco after its all over? You
could have had one right then and there. I know,
I I It's the craziest thing. And apparently a lot
of people knew that I almost got hit. So what
happened was there were three or four fights or francases

(55:13):
as we would like to call him, a scrumbs during
the Jets Redskins combined practice day one. They have actually
three days. I was at the first two days and
it got it got a little bit crowded, and they
pushed it over to the fence where I was standing
and by the way, that was right against the fans
and it and I got kind of concerned there because
I was able to get out of the way, but
the fans are sort of in the middle of it,

(55:35):
and quickly security came over, the coaches came over when
they pushed the fans away, So thank goodness that the
fans didn't get really involved in it. But you get
concerned with these training camp fights because I've been to
them around them before, and you gotta be careful because
guys are in pads and when fists are being thrown,
you hit someone's helmet, you could break your hand. Now,

(55:55):
most importantly, were there was there enough protection around Sam
Donald to get him away from the francas he had.
In fact, I'll tell you what's the big story here,
and it's a little surprising, is that he's getting work
with the first team offense and righty, remember he was
one of the rookies who would sign late later than expected,
and he did really good Jos. A matter of fact,
he got worked with the first team offense yesterday. He

(56:17):
actually in team offense the eleven on elevens against the Redskins.
He worked with the he was actually the first quarterback
in on eleven on eleven today, which is a little
bit of surprising. So what I've called it is an
accelerated process to get him ready to see if he
could be the guy, and I look forward to see
what happens this week against the Redskins. They got one
more practice and then they've got the game on Thursday,

(56:40):
so we could be looking at the week one regular
season start here in Sam Donald, I want you, I
want to, I want you to go out on a limb.
Will he be that guy? Because after I know it's
one preseason game, and I don't want to get too crazy,
but if I'm the Jets and I saw what I saw,
and you're talking about him practicing, uh with the first
union and what he's doing him, why not If the

(57:01):
guy is ready to play, should beat his start, right
And as a matter of fact, here's the way I
look at it. Josh mccount is thirty nine years old.
Guy's probably gonna go into coaching after he's done. You've
got Teddy Bridge, by the way, look great in the
preseason game. I don't think enough people are talking about that.
But he's not the start. Remember they made the trade
they trade. They made the trade up with a Colts

(57:22):
for Sam Darlad is gonna be the franchise quarterback? Why
delay the inevitable? To me? Rob, if he looks good
this week, I don't see why he won't be a
starter week one because remember week three in the preseason
is that tune up for Week one? Because the starters
don't play in Week four, So they've got to know,
they've got to know in this preseason game. If he

(57:42):
plays well in this preseason game, I would expect that
to be a preview for Week one. As far as
this goes now, everybody looking for quarterback help. That means
Teddy Bridgewater likely will be on the training block. He
looked good in the Jets. Look at the Jets have
too many good quarterbacks? All right? Hey got we got
too many good quarters? Accent because Adam knows me long
time being Jets fan, Uh Teddy bridge Water, how difficult

(58:04):
would it be to trade him do a team? Well,
but it wouldn't be difficult. You just have to go
to quarterbacks, and of course you could sign a third
if you need to. But I think in the end,
Teddy is shown And this is a really important to understand.
I remember I was on the air DESPN when Teddy
shredded his knee up two years ago, and it was
not even a question when playing football then would he

(58:24):
ever be able to walk correctly? Again. And not only
could he do that, he started really good mobility. And
I watched him today through the ball real well and
move real well. So then in that scenario, guys, that
if Start is gonna start week one, that means Accounts
is the number two quarterback for the rest of the season.
Bridgewater may would be available obviously, and he's got a

(58:45):
contract that's fairly attractive. Now, what you also have to
see what happens the week two and we three with
injuries or with quarterbacks around the National Football League. There
there are teams now that are stacked. Eagles down five quarterbacks,
not even three or four. So they Late Claire, they
have too many quarterbacks there. They're the latest team to
take a chance and they want to see if they
could develop Christian Hackenburgh. But the bottom line is Teddy

(59:07):
Bridge orders absolutely bad. Guys. I saw it with my
own eyes. What about the Baker Mayfield debut? Uh? Um,
what do you think he has a chance to be
the starting quarterback or a just hell bent on or
or not starting him? And uh sticking with Tyrod Taylor? Yeah,
Rob No, Actually, Hugh Jackson, the head coach, said it

(59:29):
weeks ago. No matter how well Baker Baker Meat Mayfield does.
He wants him watching from the sidelines early on, and
that's fine. I actually asked the coach uh an offense
coordinator in the NFL, said why would you do that?
He goes, you know what, when us your franchise quarterback,
you want to make sure he's ready, and b you
don't want to put him in there before he's ready.

(59:52):
It's kind of like when I was with the Bills
talking to them privately, they said to me, look, we're
gonna open up the competition, but if Josh Allen's the
third quarterback this season, fun They're They're good with it.
They're not. They're not going to make a mistake of
put a guy in before he's ready. But but I'll
tell you what talking to I talked to a couple
of teams already watched that tape from last week. They're
blown away with how Baker Mayfield commanded the field, and

(01:00:13):
by the way, Tyler Taylor look great as well. But
as we head in the week two of the preseason,
I know Browns fans are dying to see Mayfield in
their early in the regular season, but they're gonna have
to wait a little bit all right, give me a
little Let's do a little fill in the blank before
we get to what went on with the Broncos this weekend.
If I said to you the rookie quarterback starting week
one will be who would you put at the end

(01:00:34):
of that sentence? Oh boy, um, I need another week
to be honest with you, guys, I I don't think
there's any Let's put it this way. I think it's
if I had to put money on, it would be
Donald because the trend is so far going up right
now based on the way that he's performed. Quite frankly,
when he signed late, I didn't think there was a prayer.

(01:00:56):
But the vibes that I'm getting and everything that that
I've heard and I saw with my own eyes is
that they're more than willing to start in week one,
and he's on this accelerated process. So Jason, I would
say it would be right now, will be my favorite
to start week one of all the quarterbacks. So a
better chance and him starting than Paxiston Lynch after what
he did yesterday, Well packon Lynch, that was extremely disappointing.

(01:01:20):
Paxiston Lynch, Guys, this is a guy I saw Adam
Memphis who had the big arm, pretty good athlete first size,
but his inability to process information has been a problem.
And Chad Kelly, I'll tell you what, He's gonna be
the number two quarterback in Denver. I don't think there's
any question about that. And Uh, I was gonna ask
you about the John Gruden and his uh you know,

(01:01:44):
the whole talk about John Gruden A hundred million dollars,
still still haven't paid their best defensive player. What's going
on there with the Raiders? Are they gonna get Clio
mac in the fold or not? Talking to the guy? Well,
Rob Rob, I expect from talking to the Raiters. I
spent days with him last week when the Lions were
in a NAPA, I would expect some dialogue to stop

(01:02:04):
before the season. But here's the thing, as one team
sort of said to me, Khalil Mack and rightfully so. No,
as you want to beat uh the von Miller deal,
which is the best really pass rusher deal, he wants
kind of low and quarterback money, which is somewhere between
twenty one and two million season. The Raiders, all along,
all off seas were not prepared to do that, to

(01:02:27):
to approach that deal. But I'll tell you what, when
you're trying to sell suites in Las Vegas, when they're
playing in two years, you gotta show that you're committed
to winning. And the Raiders know that they cannot compete
defensively without this football player. And I know they're very
excited about their draft arden Key and p J. Hall
and others. These young kids are getting on the field,

(01:02:48):
but there's no one like Khalil Mack on their team
and they won't sniff the playoffs anytime soon without Khalil
Mack and they know it. You can follow on Twitter

that's a really good shut your mouth, I'm just talking
about shaft. Okay, Um news out of Giants camp today,
all right, everybody get ready to breath in out. Eli

(01:07:16):
has been benched again for Genos. Oh sorry, uh say Kwan.
Barkley got dinged up at practice today. Giants getting a scare.
He comes up lame at the end of a big
play and I mean coming up lamee like he's hurt
at the end of a big play. During practice on Monday,
he runs by generous Jenkins down the sideline, catches a pass,

(01:07:37):
and then starts limping tweaked his hamstring, but according to ESPN,
he is okay. He jogged gingerly down the sideline, then
back towards a line of scrimmage. He gets his left
leg wrapped in. So far things are okay, But words
from Giants head coach Pat Schirmer, is he okay? His
quote was, we'll see. So it looks like Barkley is

(01:07:58):
gonna be okay. But this is something we got into
last hour. We talked about drafting or running back like
s Kwan Barkley number two. Yes, when you have a
choice between a franchise running back in a franchise quarterback,
when you need both, you draft the quarterback. And this
is why the Jets are gonna just prosper for years
with Sam Donald, and the Giants have to sit there

(01:08:19):
and go. We handed Sam Donald to the Jets on
a platter because we wanted to stick with Eli Manning.
But here's my concern about s Kwon Barkley. I got
to see a lot of him play last year. I
watch a lot of college football. My wife's the Michigan
fans will the Big Ten is really it's always big
in our house. Anytime. She's still waiting stuff in the
Big Ten. That's how it goes. He's still waiting for
Harbor to win a big game though, right, Yeah, but
she's just happy. It's not you know, we're not seven

(01:08:41):
and five anymore. You know, it's happy. Those aren't the years. Yeah,
but are you wearing khakis to make to make your
wife feel comfortable? Oh yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. Where Lulu
Lemons and stuff have the Michigan I wear that. I
wear the whistle. I blow it around the house all
the time, and I attack every day with a further
unknown to man kind. There we go. That's what I
just don't blow to. So when you're looking for fresco,

(01:09:02):
come on, let's get that friends. I'm done watching the game.
When I do three quick blows of the whistle, that
means a fresco. One thing is as a time out,
I have to go to the bathroom. But se Kwon Barkley,
here's my worry about him. The Giants have gone over
the top to publicize him because they have to convince
their fan base. We didn't get it wrong by taking

(01:09:22):
him and sa Kwan Barkley is very good. But watching
him last year and seeing the big run that he
had so this year opening day against the Browns, he
runs up the middle, doesn't like what he sees sits
there for like three seconds and takes it around the outside,
goes for thirty eight yards. That's a great run. He
had so many runs like that in college. He would
get to the middle of the field, he wouldn't see,
wouldn't like what he saw, wait for a second, and

(01:09:45):
then would bounce it outside. I know that there's many
people who say, well, he's got that Lady on Bell vision,
that patience. No Lady on Bell waits for the whole
to develop. This is I don't like what I see,
so I'm gonna bounce this run outside. That can work
in college, and that works Week one of the preseason
against the Browns, who I didn't think they knew the
ball was even snapped the way they were playing defense
on that play. That's not gonna work in the NFL.

(01:10:07):
Reggie Bush learned that lesson. He never learned the value
of a two yard carc That's a good comparison. You
know that Barkley is like a stronger Reggie Bush. He
can't just get to the middle of the field, not
see a hole and say, Okay, I'm going outside, because
that's when it's no gain or you lose a yard.
You have to know the value of a two yard
carry and Reggie Bush never got that. And if say
Kwan Barkley thinks I can do this, he's gonna run

(01:10:27):
into a world hurt because everybody's boy Waite, the edge
wasn't really set for me, and I'm just getting rode
out of bounds here for no gain or I'm losing
a yard. That's to me. That's the thing that he's
got to be able to adjust to. I don't know
that he can do it. Also, I just think when
you look at the Giants making a running back their

(01:10:48):
selection after having an a one of the all time
worst years enfranchise history, with a chance to replenish the quarterback,
every team in the NFL is either what have a
quarterback or is looking for a quarterback? Right. I mean,
that's just there's about ten teams that are happy with
their quarterback situation and another twenty that would love to

(01:11:09):
upgrade their situation at quarterback. So when you have a
chance to get that guy and maybe a franchise guy.
There was four or five guys out there, and I'm
not saying it's a guarantee they're gonna pan out all
of them, but they blew it. I really I don't
understand that thinking. And you can't live in the past chasing.

(01:11:29):
I get it, Eli one two super bowls, he beat
Tom Brady twice, he beat the eighteen and old Patriot.
I get all that one two m vps years ago.
Look at the last four years. Not a pretty picture.
Is he trending up or down? Down? Down? So I

(01:11:51):
don't get why they wouldn't. That doesn't mean that they
couldn't have taken a running back later on in the draft.
They were running backs to be had. I don't understand this,
and I think that they will rue the day and
this will be something that haunts them. And I think
they did or at least gave the Jets an opportunity
to overtake them in the New York City market. I

(01:12:13):
really believe that. And it wasn't that long ago. Rex
Ryan was on the verge of it too for a
couple of years when they were going to the a
f C Championship when they beat uh Tom Brady and
in Foxborough. Do you know the Jets had a right
and and then all of a sudden, the Giants and

(01:12:34):
Eli they want a Super Bowl out of nowhere, and
that kind of put the Kai bosh on where the
Jets were going. But my point is Donald could do
that if he plays well and the Jets start to
win on a consistent basis and make a run. I
think the Giants could have really damaged their franchise long
term if Donald plays well and Barkley is is good,

(01:12:56):
but not that guy. I just don't get how team
can say, Okay, here's we need both positions. What's the
most important position on the team. Quarterback? We have franchise quarterbacks,
we have franchise running backs. Who do you take? You
take a franchise quarterback. You would have had your choice
of everybody but one. You know, you had four guys
out here that people like to various degrees in various reasons,

(01:13:18):
and you could have had him. Sam Donald was the
best quarterback in college football for the last two years,
and the Giant said, Nope, we're gonna be very stubborn
and we're gonna say we still like Eli. You know
what's gonna happen. Se Kwon Barkley could run for a
hundred and fifty yards the first four weeks. If Eli
Manning throws for one eight five and one touchdown in
three picks, it's gonna be boy, we got this wrong.
We really screwed this up. Because it doesn't matter. It's

(01:13:39):
gonna be on a quarterback. They're gonna be on a
hot seat. Watch and see if Eli doesn't play well.

if you can't protect a quarterback, he's bound to this point,
you can't protect Josh Rosen. He's not athletic, he's not elusive,
and he is a little bit fragile. I'm really concerned
about how quickly they put him in and about the

(01:16:11):
line that they're gonna use to protect him. So the
one guy we haven't We talked a lot about Sam
Donald and we talked we talked about Baker Mayfield a bit,
Josh Allen somewhat. But here's Josh Rosen. Ah, by the way,
is gonna try to win the job here in Arizona,
and he's gonna start at some point because Sam Bradford's
just gonna get her because it's what Sam Bradford does.

(01:16:32):
If you can at least get away from the Russia
a little bit. And there's not mobile, and there's really
not mobile. Josh Rosen still is young, and he had
a bad offensive line at US, like he got hit
a lot. I understand that concern. I think a guy
needs to play when he's ready to play. And if
Josh Rosen is ready to play, well, you can't sit

(01:16:53):
there and wait and go, Okay, let's let the offensive
line come to let's do this. He's got to get
out there and play. He's gotta be you got you got,
it's tackle foot ball, and you got to get out
there and play. I get that. My only reservation would
be if there's like the line is so bad when
he's getting crushed play after play, do you know what
I mean? Like, if it's something like that, then you

(01:17:13):
need to get rid of those players and get some
players who can protect them. But I'm with you. You
got at some point you gotta get out there and
you have to learn how to either elude the rush,
step to the side right, or also get rid of
the ball so that they can't you know when when
you're in trouble, and not take the sacks and not
take those hits, so there's like a combination. But but

(01:17:37):
at some point you gotta put him in there, and
you can't be like thinking, we're gonna baby him and
not put him out there until the offensive line is
exactly the way we wanted, until they're gonna protect him
every time, because that's not gonna happen. That's not football. Yeah,
guys are gonna get hurt, and I get it. Arizona's
offensive line is bad, but you still have to play.
And if you can't say, all right, you're development is

(01:18:00):
gonna be back because we can't protect you. I mean
what that that? Really? Maybe gonna come up with a
quickly release one to one everything the gun and that's
why they can't get you. So it's Rosen being out there.
But Bradford is even more fragile. That's the guy. That's
the guy they said, Look, he's gonna play eventually. Every

(01:18:20):
quarterback taken high in the first round is going to play.
They're gonna play sooner rather than later. Donald looks like
he will play earliest than anybody. We talked to Adam
Caplan this hour. He's running with the ones in camp
this week when they're having joint practice with the Redskins,
and he was great week one. When you when you
see that little dress for her our first appearance, he

(01:18:42):
looks like he's ready. I mean I'm not. I know
it was just one preseason sequence or whatever, but he
just looked like he looked apart. Did you needn't doubt it?
A go? Uh oh, I don't know, or he's not
ready yet, or he needs more season. That's not what
you saw. You saw guy ready to play week one.
You know when he when I walked in and in

(01:19:04):
the when he first comes into the game. And remember
the time you thought the history the Jets have had,
my we haven't had a pick like this, and I'm
being serious, in fifty years, the Jets haven't had a
pick like this. When I see him in the very beginning,
and they come back from commercial break and then here
it is, here's the debut and Donald Is is a
couple of feet away from the team, laughing with the

(01:19:27):
official I mean not joking around, but the officials talking
to him. He's smiling and listen to what he's saying.
He's ready. He's there. There's no wide eyedness, there's no
and he came in right away and he showed I
know where to go with the ball, I know how
to evade the rush, and I'm more mobile. And I
guarantee you teams are gonna see him and go boy.
Even though we knew he was mobile, he's much more
mobile than we thought. And he's able to throw accurately

(01:19:49):
on the run. That's one thing the USC quarterbacks have
always been able to do, is throw on the run
and throw accurately. And had the Jets done that more
of that with Mark Sanchez, maybe things could have been different,
but that's one thing they've always done. He did be
Tom Brady and oh I know he did nod, but
he'll start and high war that was it. Then everything
went down from there. But he'll start probably week one.

(01:20:10):
Baker Mayfield will start by week four because he look
doesn't look like he's gonna be far away from being
able to You think four. I think week four, if
they go three and one or two and two to start,
I think that they'd have to be like one and
three from the You're talking about a team that's won
one game and three years. If they go three and
one off the back, I just you know what I'm
gonna I'm gonna be honest, the three and one. I

(01:20:34):
like the moves that they made. I think that you know,
football roster wats at least on on paper, that's a
much better team than it has been. Yeah, oh, I'm
no question, but I think just when we're four and O,
you know, if they're four and no, they can't make
a move. Josh Allen will probably play mid to the
end of mid till later part of the season, as

(01:20:55):
long as mccaren is is all right. And Josh Rosen
probably the said, well he'll get thrust and when Sam
Bradford gets hurt, so his is gonna just week one,
play three. So but that's kind of where I'm looking
for the rookie quarterbacks where they're gonna play, Say Fox

why Tiger Woods has come back might not be about

Twitter at How about Afresca Rob at Rob Parker FS one.
We'll get into that development in the Ohio state story
coming up in about fifteen minutes. But first of all,
I like to say very impressed today Rob Parker starting
the day at eleven thirty with a rack of ribs,
finishing things up at two o'clock with the big bag

(01:22:20):
of ruffles potato chips. Not like the tiny bag you
buy for yourself when you walk into This is the
bag when it's like, hey, can I bring anything to
a party and they go, yeah, you want to bring
some chips? This is the bag you grab. This is
the bag you have to pay with a credit card.
It's so big, you know, like I'm not walking around
with that much cash. I was like, I have to
have ruffles, and they didn't have the small bag, so

(01:22:41):
I just said, you know what, I'm still about the
small bag. No. I would have, really, no, I would
have because it's just the Ramo said, this is the problem.
I need a clip, you know what. I'm gonna take
this home for later and late night. I've been doing
so well, but this summer I let myself go a
little bit. I was in really good shape. But up

(01:23:03):
the summer I kind of like play a little bit,
put a couple of pounds one. Then I get back
to it in September. What you still you look fine?
What do you go about like six three? I was
six four, I was one seventy three. Okay, I dropped
thirty pounds by eating right all this other stuff, and
now I'm about one set. How can I possibly live?

(01:23:31):
I know it's all good. Do I buy a medium
or do I buy a large? There you go, But
still on Tiger Woods hangover following his near win at
the p g A Championship a day ago, Tiger finishing second,
of course, we watched brooks Kepta finish at sixteen under par,

(01:23:54):
defeating Tiger Woods and Tiger Now with the talk about
him being act after finishing as high as he did
in the last two majors. We talked last hour about
how you don't think that Tiger Woods is back and
he's got to win. But I see a different situation
that Tiger Woods has to realize in this quote comeback
where he's at right now. And you talked about the

(01:24:16):
Buffalo Bills a few a few minutes ago, talked about there,
never talked about and mentioned as as part of the greats,
even though they went to four straight. Suit not harder
to get the four straight Super Bowl. It's hard. It's
easier when the a f C stinks. But that was
certainly it was certainly an error when the a f
C stunk out loud. And what people don't give the

(01:24:37):
same to Tom Brady playing in the a f C.
Least people always pooh pooh that yeah, but they he
actually wins Super Bowl out and he wins. But when
you when you start to deal with six wins, I'm
just saying it is a little bit easier. It's a bit.
But this is the thing with Tiger Woods is that
the first time around for Tiger through two thousand and eight,

(01:24:58):
when he came around, he dominated what was a bad
era of golf because it was just one of those
generational things where all the best players that we had
watched throughout most of the eighties and at the back
ends of their prime in the nineties, even some guys
in the seventies, they were all done. Greg Norman was done,
Nick Price was done, Nick Faldo was done, Freddie Couples
was done with his era of his Price prime, and

(01:25:21):
Tiger Wood shows up and you're like, okay, so who
are the best golfers when Tiger shows up in ninety seven, Well,
Ernie Els probably, and Ernie was on the back half
of his prime. Ernie Els was pretty good. And then
who are the best guys the next decade? You could
say that's Reratif Gooson, VJ. Singh maybe and Jim Furick.
Those are your guys that were the best golfers. And

(01:25:41):
Sergio never got there he was supposed to be right,
He took him forever to get there. It took Phil
Mickelson eight year And I remember Phil Mickelson and nine
five was, boy, he's gonna be the next great golf
Remember he won the Mercedes Open in ninety five, one
like two events, Like, he's gonna be great. And it
took him how many years to win a major nine
years to finally win a major and breakthrough. So Tiger

(01:26:02):
is racking up all of these wins all and yes,
he wanted an unprecedented level uh winning the way he did,
but that first run, there was nobody there to stop him.
The the caliber of golfers was not nearly where you're
at right now. Right now, the caliber of golfers are
so much better than they were ten fifteen years ago.

(01:26:23):
You sound like Tiger can't win with the with the
current uh crop of golfers in his way, that he
can't win if you put the over under. And I've
talked about this for about a year and a half
since Tiger has been coming back. Now, if you put
the over under for majors him at one and a
half for the rest of his career, I would take
the under. You would take the under. You think he
only had a chance to win one, not two? Over
the next he's forty one the three did we say that? Okay,

(01:26:46):
so he's got seven more years. He can't win twice.
Everybody is too much. Everybody is too much. I don't
want to say, I don't want to say they're hardened
Tiger woods, but they're all better and they all are
unafraid of him. You look at Kepka yesterday, right, Tiger
is having this incredible backstretch where he's he's playing extremely well.

(01:27:09):
Shot sixty four, day four of a major, and he
was he stuck shots he had on fifteen when he
hit that approach shot that was five feet from the cup,
and he played as well as he could and Brooks
Kepta it wasn't even close. I Am just gonna keep
hitting these eight foot drives and I'm gonna birdie par
birdie parr and you're not catching me. There's not been
one tournament the Tigers ever played in that he's had

(01:27:31):
somebody like Brooks kept who now is one another major.
There's so many guys that can win majors now, so
just the sheer numbers, it's gonna be impossible for Tiger
Wood because he did every What what did Tiger Woods
not do in this event that he would do that
you think he could do again? Nothing? Oh, Tiger miss fairways.
He always misses fairways. Oh he just missed a couple
of puts. You know what, he has always just missed

(01:27:51):
a couple of putts, as he's always played well with
his Irons that's always been with the same. This is
how Tiger Woods plays, and now you see where he is.
There's so many other guys. Can he beat Dustin Johnson
downa stretch? I I don't know that he can. You know,
can he beat any of these guys? I don't know
that he can. Maybe he can, he can eke one out.
But there's so many players that are so good now

(01:28:13):
compared to when he first came, you really want to
think he's he's back. Look at this. When Tiger was
first around, he was always the number one pick for
the Ryder Cup, right, always number one pick. Look where
he's at right now, He's got to be a captain's
pick because you have eight picks that are qualified that
are clearly better than Tiger Woods from this year. So
now you're talking about it. So now at best you're
talking about one of the eight to fifteen best players

(01:28:36):
in the world. Maybe because he's only been back for
two tournaments. It's impossible and not pick Tiger Woods. Even
the Jim Furick said today it's not a given, but
it looks like he's gonna take him. But this is
where Tiger was going to take him. They have to
but but where he's at, you realize this is the
best it's gonna get for Tiger Woods. He's not gonna
suddenly be the best player in the world. This is

(01:28:56):
where he is at. His best is periphery top fifty,
and those guys don't just start ripping off major after major. Well,
that's why I keep saying that he's not bad, because
you just said it. He's not. He's not He's not back.
When people say he's back, I'm talking about the Tiger
Woods that used to win. And to me, winning is
a part of that. If you were to win, and

(01:29:17):
it doesn't have to be a major off the bat,
because he hasn't won one of those in ten years,
and he hasn't won any tournament in five years, so
can if he just wins something, then I could say, Okay,
he's back in the winning business. And then could he
maybe win a major or two and then finish up
a strong career where people say, you know what, he

(01:29:38):
was down for a long time, he worked his way back.
It would be a nice boat towards happy story, you
know what I mean. It wouldn't be that he got
there and and caught Jack and beat Jack. But at
least he finished off with with coming back and winning.
If Tiger Woods never wins again, how in the world
could you look at that and feel as if that's

(01:29:59):
a good story that he may at it back. Well,
it's good in the sense that because I do think
he's back as far as he's going to get back.
Like I said, this is the this is the new
ceiling for Tiger Woods. Yeah, but it's not a good ceiling. Well,
at least we're talking about him, and it's not. Hey,
here's people have been talking when he was laying eggs.
I mean, you're always gonna talk about that guy. But

(01:30:19):
but that's because he became a celebrity, which is which
is bigger than being an athlete. When you've you like
Angelia and Jolie, she's not an actor, she's a celebrity
where anything she does makes news no matter what. You
could have the worst career in the world and do
movies that nobody goes to see. You could be Jennifer Anderson.
She's a celebrity. Tiger was a celebrity or anything he
did made news, regardless of fact he wasn't doing anything

(01:30:39):
playing golf. No, I got I get that. That's a
little bit different. I get that part, but I still
think that in order to really for people to embrace
him and say he's back, he needs to win. And
I just so way, way too many congratulatory and glowing
you know things written about Tiger on Twitter or Facebook,

(01:31:00):
and I just thought to myself, Wow, this is where
Tiger fans are now. They just didn't Oh, he was
in the running. Okay, he was in the running. He
was still playing on Sunday. That's good enough for me.
I'm cool with that. Forget that he didn't win, or
forget that he hit hit the ball in the woods
when it mattered most right, he was right there. He

(01:31:21):
was there after that shot. You just talked about the
approach on what was that fifteen? He was there and
then the next one you go into the woods, there
was club down right, what it's all over? He knew it.
That's the Tiger Woods. We that's back. The same guy
who can't And I said on radio, and I meant always,

(01:31:43):
I didn't mean it in that particular yesterday I was
talking about. I was just saying, and then there's a
couple of the opportunities where he was playing well, and
I said, he fades at the end, people like he
didn't fade, and I was like, I didn't mean it
just for that event. But we've had other false along
That's what Tiger is, a false along. Yeah, he can't.
He can't do it for four days like he used

(01:32:05):
to in the past and his bad days if because
look at the beginning of Majors when Tiger was winning, right,
he could have a bad first day. Whoa Tiger is
one over par for the first day. He's looking up
at twelve guys ahead of him, and it's like, boy,
but looking up at twelve guys is twelve guys, there's
gonna be a lot of movement. Now it's you have
a bad day. One Tiger had a bad day. One

(01:32:26):
he's looking up at twenty nine guys who are all
ahead of him. The sheer numbers of trying to Now
I gotta beat Now. I get you're looking at your
score in relation to the course, but you have to
realize that of all these guys that are playing ahead
of you, a couple other ones are gonna play lights out,
and all you need is one guy, just one not
to just one guy to play lights out and he's
gonna win. And like I said the final three holes,

(01:32:48):
it was you were hoping against hope for Tiger. He
had it was the nadir when he had that approach
and knocked in. He got one, one stroke behind the lead.
And what happened kept got bertie. Yeah, that's it and
and that's what it was, another birdie and now he's
three strokes up and all right, well if he hits
into the one, No, wasn't happening, because that that's where
these guys are at right now. And this gets into

(01:33:09):
the point about players who are playing. Now we've seen
the Tiger effect. It's weird because he almost created what
he's trying to battle right now. It's almost like like
Tony Stark with the Avengers created is that he has.
We've seen the Tiger exploss. Been twenty years since Tiger
hit the p G A tour and so now you've
had twenty years for more kids, different kids to pick

(01:33:29):
up clubs and get ready to play. And now you
see this explosion of how good these players are. And
a guy like brooks Kepco you ask him more or
anybody else, Hey, what what did you think when you
heard the roar of the crowd with Tiger was behind
you and everything. They say the same thing. Oh yeah,
that was cool. They tell me that's what it was
like in the old days. When because it's been ten years,

(01:33:53):
store like you know what I mean, Like, like what
what what was that? Yeah? I heard that crowd. I
think this is Tiger starting to autographs or something. What
is he doing? Is he playing? Okay? Yeah, yeah, that's cool,
they all say. They all say reverential things about and
because look, you you you now take home two point
one million. Has a lot to do with Tiger Woods.

(01:34:16):
There's no doubt about it. Everybody loved Tiger because it
meant you you see the crowd, you see the money,
the TV waitings, right, Tiger did push that envelope and
make a bigger paid day for everybody else. I don't
think anybody else that. Yeah, And they all say great
things about as good as he was. They never they
always stopped short with saying yeah, but you know which

(01:34:36):
is which is fine, because look, everything they owe, the
PGA tour owes everything their success to Tiger Woods. But
you know, they all think, yeah, it's not a big
deal to me if I'm playing against Tiger down the stretch.
When it was guys like rock Omedia would be like,
I was shaking, I was nervous, I was this, I
was that, and and that's what you would get. But
now you don't get that now because the players are like, yeah,
I've had ten years without really having to worry about

get back to the NFL coming up in a few minutes,
is getting ready for a new era that is dawning
in the National Football League. But a bit of a
twist and turn involving the Ohio State Zach Smith Urban
Meyer storyline. Urban Meyer, who of his course, has been
placed on administrative leave while Ohio State investigates what urban
Meyer did and didn't know and report about four assistant

(01:36:07):
coach Zack Smith, who was accused in two thousand nine
two thousand fifteen of domestic violence, was finally let go
by the team earlier this year after he violated a
protection order. So while the team is figuring this out,
and while there's that panel of blue ribbon experts in
Ohio who are trying to determine urban Meyer's fate, this
story breaks today that Zack Smith, the former assistant, says

(01:36:30):
he did not inform urban Meyer that he was arrested
in charge with d u I in two thousand and thirteen.
It's come about that Smith was arrested and charged with
speeding and operating a vehicle while intoxicated in February uh
He pled guilty to a lesser charge had his license
suspended for six months. Smith saying through his attorney today,
I handled it on my own without involving O s U.

(01:36:55):
As each day goes on, it gets more and more
likely that Urban Meyer is going to return to be
the head coach at Ohio. I'm not convinced. I I'm
not convinced that they were going to fire him. They'd
have fired him already. The only reason they haven't fired
him is because there's money involved. There's forty million dollars
sitting there, and they gotta make sure that they get

(01:37:16):
it right so that you don't have this Rick Pettino
situation where he's trying to sue the school, you know,
after they let him go. I'm telling you, it's about
the money, and you gotta do it right. You gotta
do your due diligence. It's not automatic that he's coming back.
And to me, here's another sign of uh Smith doing whatever.

(01:37:38):
The university doesn't know about it. This is Urban Meyers
in charge of the football program and every and everybody involved.
Why don't you know that your assistant coach got a
d U. I you don't know something. Something doesn't make
sense to me. You know what he's doing is he's
protecting Urban Meyers. He's protecting by saying I never reported.

(01:38:00):
There's no coincidence that that's what That's what I'm saying.
A half hour before Zack Smith's interview that aired on ESPN,
urban Meyer put out a statement saying, oh, hey, uh,
you know I didn't. I I misspoke in I misspoke
at at Big ten Media Day about of course he didn't.
But this is exactly the playbook that I said was

(01:38:20):
gonna happen with urban Meyer. As soon as the story
came out, I said, he's gonna say he misspoke at
Big ten Media Day when I said I didn't know
what you're talking about with I'm gonna say I never
talked to my wife about it, because his wife is
the one who knows everything about the text message that
she got from Zack Smith's x ex wife. You're you're married?
Those are do you believe that? No, of course you're

(01:38:41):
getting married. But I was married. Come on, man, this
whole nonsense, just like the uh the GM of the
seventies sixer is his wife is the one with the
burner account talking about team uh only stuff that team
team personnel would know. Yeah, you know you buy that
for one minut of course not but this, but this

(01:39:01):
is the reality of Columbus who wants to keep urban
Meyer as coach because they like, Hey, every year we
talk about two teams for the national championship, Alabama and
Ohio State. He's kept the good times going after the
Jim Trustle scandal and he had to go, they want
to keep him. There's more than enough evidence to let
him go. Now, there's lack of institutional control. And you
kept a domestic abuser on your staff from two thousand nine.

(01:39:25):
There's an instance you brought him. Yes, you did this.
There's enough to dismiss you. Now. As every day goes on,
the more likely response is gonna be sensitivity training and
maybe a one game suspension for urban Meyer. I think
that they're doing their due diligence. Also, as these stories

(01:39:45):
keep trickling out, it might be another one that might
come out and that and that changes, just like this
thing today. But this is the reporters right now. No,
I mean, it just it just tells you about what
he's running there. I mean, I know he's trying to
protect him saying he didn't know, but this is this
is shows a pattern of turning a blind eye to

(01:40:05):
what's going on? Because I don't know. You're friendly with
the guys you drinking, but I don't know. I don't
I don't know what he thought. He was a young
man that I want to keep through and see him
through difficult times in life. I mean, I I get,
but when you're in charge of a football program and
and and young men, and you're there's an example you

(01:40:26):
need to lead, and and keeping the guy on who
has done allegedly things that that we frown upon in
this society, that's a bad look for him. It just is. Oh,
it's a bad look. But but Mark Cuban still runs
the Dallas Mavericks because Adam Silver sucks. Because here's a
guy that that kept a known domestic abuser on staff

(01:40:47):
rather than let him go. He still runs the maverage
because he's good for business for the NBA. Urban Meyer
is phenomenal for Ohio state business. And what's gonna happen
when he does come back. He'll run onto the field
and fans will give him a standing of a hundred thousand.
People already know that. But that, but but that doesn't
mean even though they will, because I get it, they

(01:41:07):
want to win football games. But this is how Rick
Pottino skated for all this time with all the stuff
that was going on there, Right, Patino got to the
point where they just couldn't He just couldn't say I
didn't know anymore. This is the first time Urban Meyers
saying I don't know Rick Pettino, apparently the head coach
of Louisville, but doesn't know anything that goes on. Nothing.
Got to be a certain point where okay, Rick, you're caught.

(01:41:27):
Now what was the other one? The uh? He was
the guy was paying for the prostitutes, the uh oh yeah,
the assistant but he but he was like a grad assistant,
Like so he's paying out of his pot, right right.
I have no idea he's the least he went from.
I'm the head coach of Louisville too. I'm just the
head coach. Just want from what do you want? I

(01:41:49):
don't know that. I saw these ladies of the Nights
going into the dorm, but I didn't know what was
going on. I was gonna walk in, but you know,
I don't players to do what they want to do
on this side. But that but that was where I
know Warren Sapp came in and hung out a couple
of knights in the door, but I don't know what.
Oh wow. But the thing is is that with Urban Meyer,

(01:42:13):
he still has that cashe of being protected. He still
has that. Okay, I am going to I can still
get out of this because there's no smoking gun. But
I've seen there's more more big time guys go down
now than ever before. I just think we're in a
different time and and things aren't in the old days.

(01:42:34):
I would agree Bobby Knight. It took forever for them
to get him out right. He was putting his hands
on kids back then. That wouldn't be Would that be
tolerated now? Of course, not at all. I don't care
who you are. And I just think it's different now.
And I think Urban really hurt himself when he lied
at Big ten Media Day, because if you did everything,

(01:42:55):
Jason on the up and up, there would be no
reason to lie. I did everything I was supposed to.
I reported him, but I would I would lay it
out for you. Yes, we knew, and we did everything.
We followed the book and we went through it, and
I reported to my supervisors and my bosses and whatever,
and they signed off on everything. And here's everything. But

(01:43:17):
that that's not how it went down. But there there's
no evidence that directly links him, and you can and
obvious life. Do you know, there's no What's gonna happen
is his wife is gonna lose her job. She's gonna
be the one to fall on the sword so urban
Meyer can keep his My wife never we we didn't,
she didn't talk to me about it, and she's gonna say, yes,
I didn't, and I will lose my job at Ohio

(01:43:38):
State running the you know, running the nursing school or
whatever she does there. And that's how it's gonna go down.
If there wasn't believe people would buy in today. No,
no one's buying into it. But it's just having to
Oh okay, there's deniability. Oh great, there's no smoking gun.
The reason we're in this is because Zack Smith's ex
wife has the text messages between herself and Urban Mind.
Let me stop you for one second. Here's the other

(01:44:00):
a thing. Law enforcement in certain states don't even use
the battered woman to go to court against the guy
because they always protect them and say nothing happened. Right,
So they went to the point where they said, we
don't even know we don't we have evidence and we've
seen it for ourselves. You know, you came in with

(01:44:20):
two black eyes and get beat up, and you swear
that you ran into a door and he didn't touch you.
So they stopped going to that. All I'm saying is
these universities need to stop when it comes to spouses
protecting or or buddies trying to hold onto the big
guy's job and look at the evidence for themselves and
say this doesn't make any sense that she's texting the

(01:44:42):
wife and Urban Mire doesn't know anything about it. I
just don't buy it, and it shouldn't be accepted at
these uh institutions of higher learning where you're molding and
shaping the young men that that are supposed to leave
this country down the road. I just don't. I think
over football game. No, it's an honor and a privilege.

(01:45:03):
It's not your birthright to beat a football coach at
Ohio State. I'm sorry. If you're gonna have to have
some losses on Saturday that you weren't expecting, You're what
you're saying is right, But the reality is they're gonna
find a way for him to keep his job. It
would be different if it was in a bigger city.

(01:45:24):
Now following this, now Columbus is still a big city,
but Ohio State is the entire no, I get it there,
the entire town. So they're gonna be protective of themselves.
If the urban Meyer story happened here in l a
happened in New York, where you're not the whole town.
We're not relying on you to provide not at all everything,
Then you know what, then Urban Meyer has done the
first day this comes out, you kept a domestic abuser

(01:45:46):
on on staff, and here's the evidence of you're done.
I'm sorry, you're gone. But when you are the whole
town and so many people rely on this Ohio State
football is woven into the fabric of that town, it's
a lot easier to say, Okay, is there a way
we can keep him? Is there a way? I know
it looks bad because I can't really believe that his
wife didn't talk to my can't believe he didn't know

(01:46:07):
about Yeah, he lied to the press, but he just
lied to the press. You're allowed to do that. That's
not a crime. That's what they're looking They're looking for
ways to go Okay, if there's nothing to directly connect
him and Zack Smith was the biggest one. When he
if he had said I have text with Urban Meyer
about it, it it was game over for him. But he
said Urban and I talked about it. And what did
Urban Meyers say? I reported up And now he's helping

(01:46:28):
it gets lost in a in a cloud wisp of
I told so and so who said something to so
and so? And I don't know and I don't know.
And you're gonna see people get suspensions and everything's gonna
move on in Urban Mara will still be the coach.
I'm not convinced. Fox Sports Radio Doug Gottlieb Show, Jason Smith,
Rob Parker in for Doug eight That's what I Like

(01:46:51):
to do eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox Twitter
at how About a Frescott Rob at Rob Parker FS
one will continue to follow this story as a developed
but coming up next is one rookie quarterback set to
be his team's opening day starter. You'll find out in
a minute, But first all the non rookie quarterback news
from Isaac Lowan Crown, I, L, Jason and Rob got

(01:47:13):
a couple of new details for you about this story
we've been talking about all day. The Toledo Blade newspaper
reporting today the former Ohio State receivers coach Zack Smith
was arrested in teen in Dublin, Ohio, for operating a
vehicle while intoxicated, a previously unreported arrest that occurred while
Smith was on the Buckeyes coaching staff. Yet there was

(01:47:33):
no mention of the arrest and Smith's publicly released Ohio
State personnel file. Dan Murphy of ESPN reported that Zack Smith,
through his attorney today said that Ohio State head coach
Urban Meyer did not know about the arrest. Get this.
Smith technically had his driving rights suspended for a hundred
and eighty days, but however it was granted limited driving privileges.

(01:47:56):
Smith's attorney told Murphy that he was allowed to drive
for work, which likely included travel for recruiting. Independent college
football reporter Brett McMurphy noted that the judge in the
case just happened to be an Ohio State alum and
an Ohio State University President's Club member. Now. Murphy also
reported that in a performance review just weeks after his

(01:48:20):
arrest in, Smith received the highest possible score in the
category understands and adheres to university's core values. In the NFL,
New York Giants, rookie first round running back sa Kwan
Barkley sustained a mild strain of his left hamstring and
practice Today. Ian rapid Board of NFL Media reports at

(01:48:41):
the Bears have agreed to terms with rookie first round
linebacker Roquan Smith, ending his holdout. Finally, in the NBA, today,
Carmelo Anthony officially signed as one year, two point four
million dollar deal with the Houston Rockets. Now back to
two guys who always understand and adhere to Fox Sports
Radio's core values, Jason Smith and Rob Parker. I don't

(01:49:02):
know about that, simply because rule number one is always
no food in the studio, right, that's always a friend.
Don't bring food in the studio. You can ruin stuff,
Scott don I don't have any food in the studio.
That's not me. It's in the uh, it's on the
other side of the glass waiting for me. That's that's
that's that. Yeah, that that that bag of ruffles that
you heard crinkling in the background. I know this this

(01:49:23):
bag is so big. You know you bought the big
bag of ruffles, you know, lift that in the air,
You'll fly away. There I go. It's so big. There
goes Rob Parker like it was so big. I was
thinking about naming it Junior, like naming it after me
like a little kid. Hey, don't do Lebron says, don't
do that. Don't do it. Not not a good thing. Um.

(01:49:44):
We talked to Adam Captain last hour, a long time
NFL inside who's been at the Jets Redskins practice the
last couple Is that practice or is that a prelimb?
It was a prelimb for the UH. I think one
man Gang, Andre the Giant you and by the way,
in peace, Jim the Anvil night Heart passing away today
at the age of sixty three. Heart Foundation was pretty cool.

(01:50:05):
I gotta say I was a big fan of the
Heart Foundation. I were fun. Definitely was in the wrestling
and my younger days. But as far as it goes
for the Jets, Sam Donald getting all the reps with
the ones today and the Jets look like, according to
Adam Kaplan, they are getting him set to start on

(01:50:26):
Thursday night against the Redskins, and certainly if that start
goes well, you're talking about this point being near week
three of the NFL starters don't play week four. Donald's
gonna be starting Week one for the New York Jets
because of the the advanced learning Curvey's had. Everybody has
said glowing things about Sam. It's hard for me to
say this is a Jet fan. I think the disaster

(01:50:46):
is right around the corner. I gotta get out of
some of my old Jets. You got your guy, You
somehow someway, You got your guy. Just enjoy it and
don't don't put that calmer out there at all. Clearly
he has been the best. Baker Mayfield had a lot
of good moments as well, and he's not going to
be far behind his touchdown pass. He dropped that pass

(01:51:07):
in the pickle barrel between three defenders, his first touchdown pass.
Baker Mayfield is gonna be fine. But Donald made plays
that rookie quarterbacks just don't make, being able to avoid
the rush and extend plays, make plays on the run
as he rolls out his accuracy. He made one throw
on Friday night where the play looked like it should

(01:51:29):
have been dead for an incomplete pass, and he had
this innate and nate and this already escaping the rush.
A defensive end who was who was palling at him,
was able to escape, step up, look to one side
of the field where everybody was flooding, turned back and
throw a pass to a receiver who was all by
himself on the sideline, who caught the ball went out
of bounds. That's a twenty yard game on a play

(01:51:50):
that should have been a dead play. Not many guys
can make plays like that. And I know it's kind
of heady. It's one game. It's I know, I know,
I know, but look, I'm a Jet fan, I'm crazy.
But watching him make that play, he looked like Peyton Manning,
and Peyton Manning would do, would kind of toe tap
a little bit and look and look and look, and
he would still move a little bit to avoid the
rush and find a guy who's wide open somewhere that

(01:52:10):
nobody else was accounting for. That was that past that
Donald Thrue And I get it. The excitement and the
way people are responding is you just want to see
it's it's like that omen like like you feel it
had he had a terrible game one. Then you start
to freat just so what you were talking about. You go,
oh my god, we got the wrong guy. He looks terrible.

(01:52:31):
You know, even after one preseason game. You know, you'd
be like, I know, they should I know, they should
have taken Rosen or they should have taken somebody else,
That's what you would do. Instead, he looks so good.
If I remember correctly, the back page of the Daily
News in New York called him the Messiah, some sort

(01:52:52):
of reference to his name, but it was something Messiah,
and I just thought, Wow, that's how much people are
looking forward to this guy being that being that guy. Yeah,
he was the Jets Siah Jet side. Yeah, I mean
I saw it and I said, that didn't take long.
They're going to the playoffs this year. See nine and seven.
They're gonna go nine and seven and they're gonna go
to the playoffs, and the era of the Jets finally

(01:53:14):
is gonna be here. And he can wind up being
the best quarterback in the a f C, least Tom Brady.
That's why Tom, that's why he wants. He knows Sam
Donald's here, he knows it. Not Belichick is gonna leave
to Donald's. I can see all the cartoons on the
internet that the political reporters always do, the crazy cartoons
sports reporters Donald kicking them out of the a f C. Exactly.

(01:53:36):
It's all over, but it's exciting. They're gonna start deflating
Donald's balls now to try to get him on something
and try to do it tough. Oh yeah, you're gonna
see Belichick, you know, creeping along the floor holding the
big needle in his hand. It's sime uh for there
to be a change anyway. I mean, it's been a
nice long run for the Patriots. It'd be good to

(01:53:57):
see some other teams getting the mix. And I think
the Jets have a chance. Yeah, it's you know, I
feel like we're on Patriots fatigue now. It's whereas when
they do something it's still oh it's Tom Brady, but
it's not what it was because they've just been around
for too long. It's just been because in our society now,
like when someone comes out of nowhere, they're red hot

(01:54:19):
and there everywhere for eighteen months, oh my god, and
then something it's like, okay, we're done and we're moving
on to something else. I mean, the Patriots had a
run for fifteen years. It's been Belichick and Brady the
entire time. But when you get to the point where
they're in every super Bowl. The excitement level that what
used to be is just not there. When they had
that big comeback to beat the Falcons in the Superman
when the Falcons choked, Yes, when all the Falcons had

(01:54:40):
to do was make like two or three additional plays,
not only only one play they first and ten at
the twenty two when Julio Jones made that big catch
on all they had to do was kneel down three times? Right,
Tom Brady? How many people were happy outside of Patriots fans?
Understandably there through the moon, there over the moon, but

(01:55:01):
how many people were happy after seeing the pages? Not
because people hate the Patriots, because it's like, yeah, I've
seen it. I mean you walk away that was you
walked away from the super Bowl going yeah, that was
all great, But I just don't feel the same way
about it. Absolutely Patriots so much. I've seen him do it.
It's that's It's like love and ice cream until you
start working at the ice cream factory. Oh, I'd love
to work at the ice cream factor. I think you'd

(01:55:22):
get tired after walking. Really, I'd like to see how
long I could go. You do it? Coming up next,
it is time for the press, What NBA star continues
to be his own worst enemy? And what quarterback kick
somebody out of the huddle for not knowing to play?
We got that more coming up next. This is Fox
Sports Radio. Be sure to catch live editions of the
Doug dot Leap Show week days at noon Eastern three

(01:55:44):
pm Pacific. Welcome inside of this is a Doug got
Leap Show on Fox Sports Radio. Jason Smith Rob Parker

Friday a skipping Shannon or on a little vaca or something.
So I'm gonna be uh try hosting the show on Friday.

(01:56:07):
So I think Jason McIntyre from the Big League in
Fox Sports Radio, and uh Greg Jennings, the former NFL
receiver and football analysts. So the three of us will
be hosting on Disputed on Friday. Alright, and then you
got your Odd Couple show with Chris Brussard's right every
Sunday night, six to nine pm Eastern time. Wake the kids,

(01:56:32):
call the neighbors. That's what I always say, now, we've
covered a lot of stories today. We talked about Sam Donald,
we got into the latest developments of Ohio State Tiger Woods,
and there's some stories out there maybe we didn't get to.
We'll get you caught up on him right now in
the press, the press, Isaac low and Crown and with

(01:56:54):
us for the press today. Can I say, you know, Isaac,
we just gotta call you Ilo from now on. I mean,
would you would you like Ilo? I mean, it sounds
pretty sweet, preferable to many of the other things I've
been called on the air over the years. Alright, very good.
Let's start with the NFL Jason and Robs. Sunday, Miami

(01:57:15):
Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill made news for kicking rookie running
back Kalin Blage out of the huddle for criticizing Coil Sorry,
different story, Sorry about that. Tannehill kicked Blage out of
the huddle for missing a key blocking assignment, which Adam

(01:57:35):
Gaye said, quote, he was right today with what he did.
I would have been upset if I was him, because
he knows what the result in a game would have been.
It would have been painful for sure. I think he
was in the right to kind of make an example there. Unquote.
I'll tell you this, I'm more surprised overall that Ryan
Tannehill is still the quarterback of the Miami Dolphins. It really,

(01:57:57):
it really is amazing him. Yeah, I agree, But ask yourself,
do you think he was trying to miss the assignment
or it just happened. I mean, I want you in
here so it doesn't happen again. And I'm gonna let
you know in the huddle to make sure you take
care of your assignment, not the other way. You stand

(01:58:19):
over there and we're talking, what is this third grade?
I think he sold juice box. I think he said
it tan Hill, bring Marino back. He would never yell
at me like that. This is Ryan tan Hill. Just
try and say, hey, I want to show that I
can actually be a leader. Okay. This next one, entitled
social Media a Cautionary Tale Chapter Infinity and Counting. It

(01:58:43):
happened Saturday night, late Saturday night, when current Denver Nuggets
and former Cavaliers guard Isaiah Thomas said on Instagram Live
about his former city of Cleveland, quote, Cleveland was a
bleep whole. I can see why lebron On left again
unquote Thomas would later apologize no word yet on what

(01:59:04):
he thinks of Denver. I don't understand this. He was
there long enough for a cup of coffee in the
sweet role, you know what I mean? Like, you weren't there,
You didn't play like eight years there? How long were
you there? You were there for fourteen games and you're
ripping Cleveland? Why are you mad at Cleveland? Lebron had
you traded? Isaiah Thomas is not a bad guy, but

(01:59:28):
he's one of those guys that when the microphone gets
put in front of him, he gets hypnotized and he
just starts talking. And he starts talking, and he he
gets in trouble because in his answers he gets so
extemporaneous or doesn't realize what he's saying that he says. So,
I'm like, whoa, that's gold. I just saw it right there.
It happened to him in Boston, happened to him in Cleveland,
happened to him with the Lakers. Did you just see

(01:59:49):
you on Twitter? I think the Clippers just fired Isaiah
Thomas from the TV broadcast. Well, there's no way he'd
be allowed to get there. They wouldn't hire him at all.
Burning bridges everywhere he goes. And also this just came
down a few moments ago that Denver Broncos have promoted
Chad Kelly to back up quarterback behind Case Keenan. So

(02:00:12):
that means that Paxton Lynch will now be the Broncos
number three at quarterback. Kelly working with the twos in
practice today. You know, here's the thing about Paxton Lynch.
Number one, John Elways got to take some kind of
or for for trading up to get Paxton Lynch as
much to make fun of the Jets for drafting Christian Hackenberg, who,

(02:00:33):
by the way, the Eagles signed, Congratulations you moved up
in the first round to get Paxton Lynch. And now
Paxston Lynch is proving what a bust he is. But
I can't get out of my head every time I
see Paxton Lynch, he looks like a guy who was
the lead singer of a boy band from the nineties.
That's Paxston Lynch. That's he looks like, Uh, you know
what I think, Uh, Denver and John Elway will just

(02:00:58):
have to live with it, you know what I mean
that it just didn't work out, and uh, I don't
know where you go for me here with that, And finally,
Ian Rappaport of NFL Media reporting the Chicago Bears have
agreed to terms with rookie first round linebacker ro Kwan Smith,
formerly of the Georgia Bulldogs, ending his holdout. So he's
on his way into camp for the Chicago Bears. Oh,

(02:01:20):
I can tackle however I want to. I'm signed. Did
he get the leg language worked out? Wasn't it about
whether or not they would pay the fine or not?
Because other words, I'm not changing how I tackle. I
want to make sure that I can just tackle however
I want to. And and and then and then you, guys,
you you'll pay the fine. Yeah, backing out there and
press the press. Car shopping could be confusing with terms

(02:01:41):
like dealer, price, list, price, and invoice. True Car shows
you what other people paid for the car you want,
so you can recognize a good price when you're ready
to buy a new or used car. Visit True Car
to enjoy a more confident car buying experience. Yeah. I
mean that's the most inane hold out you could possibly
think of. No, because I I don't tackle right and
I'm gonna injure guys. It's gonna happen. But I'm not

(02:02:03):
gonna have to pay for this fine, am I? Okay? Good?
How about adjusting what you used to do? Yeah? Oh no, no, no, no,
guys don't want to do that. They don't care. They
don't care. I don't care. Guys get injured. The No.
I'm just gonna continue to tackle lead with my head
and hurt people. It doesn't make any sense. Always a
pledge of Bud YouTube for Rob Parker. He's on Twitter
