(00:22):
you're having a great day getting ready for a spectacle
of the weekend. Whether it's football or kids or family,
whatever it is, We're getting you ready for it. Right
Reminder four or foty years, Tyre's been able customers find
the right tires for how, what and where they want,
ship fast and free back by free road ass protection
with convenient installation options like mobile tire installation Tire dot
Com the way tire buying should be. So I've never well,
(00:46):
when I say I've never taken a broadcasting class, I've
never actually taken a broadcasting class. I took one course
in junior college, so Notre Dame for a year, went
to Golden West College in Hunting the Beach, California for
a year, and then went to Oakland State for three years.
I've taken one. Technically, technically, it's a journalism class in
(01:07):
my life in in schools now, yes, there's the school
of hard knacks, if you will, and there's there's also
there's a kind of another layer to it, if you will,
in that when I was the ESPN. We'll get to this,
they they did train people on interviewing if you were
on air, and I'll get to that in a moment.
(01:28):
So I've never taken a journalism class, and yet I
would say, again, this is this is my own ego, right.
I think like Dan Patrick as somebody have always emulated
as an interviewer, I do like that Jim Rome oftentimes
(01:49):
would ask hard questions. I just didn't like the formula
by which he came upon asking those those questions and
the way in which he asked them. But I do
think that, you know, like Romie would have the good
interviews back in the day. There there's some others, but
those are the two in terms of sports radio that
I look up to. I'm just gonna be honest, I
(02:10):
put myself in in their class with anybody. I have
plenty of plenty of interviews I can play for you
where I got good stuff out of good people. And
of course we have the All Ball podcast, which is
all interview, long form and whatever. And I'm a curious person.
I like to ask questions that I don't know the
answer to. That's a little bit why I kind of
(02:31):
side with the Dan Patrick style. But I also have
kind of cleaned up a lot of a lot of
my questions from way way earlier in my career because
there's a guy at ESPN named John Sawatsky. He's a
Canadian journalist, and he came up with kind of like
the Sawatsky method for interviewing. And when I was at ESPN,
(02:53):
I was like probably the second year he was. He
was employed as a like a consultant, but like I
might've been a full time can and we would have
like a two day course on interviewing and you could
kind of go back and it would usually be I
think it was like late summer, you know, and late
summer you'd have in a room, you'd have Dan, Mike
(03:17):
and Mike how Heard, myself and I sometimes I think
they staggered it so we weren't all off the air
one day, but it felt like we were all off
the air one day, like I knew Mike, and Mike
was in there when we did it, and his general
belief was that some of the people you think are
the best interviewers are actually the worst, and he did it.
(03:41):
Did feel like he picked on Larry King a little bit,
but rightfully. So when you listen to the actual questions
that Larry King asked. One of the examples is, you know,
he said, you avoid a trigger word because someone you
interview will react to the trigger word. So if you
and Larry King used to ask people are you shocked
(04:02):
by what you saw? And then sometimes they would get
the the the proper response, It's like it's it's almost
implanting a word into your brain. And so sometimes people
would react to the word no, I wasn't. I wasn't shocked,
but what I saw Larry, Or yes, Larry, I was
shocked by what I was shocked before I saw Larry.
(04:22):
That's like that's what he he wants you to say
that word, So he says that word in the question
when the reality is you got to let somebody use
their own vocabulary and use their own description. So the
proper way of asking a question is what was your
reaction to what you saw? It's open end and it's neutral.
(04:45):
Who what? When? Why? How? It's not a double header?
You know when people ask two questions. They do that
a lot of times at the White House, some because
they don't think they'll get called on again. But still
it's terrible question, terrible line of question. No yuest knows,
open it in a neutral no trigger words, no doubleheaders.
(05:08):
You know it's all. There's also that don't assume. And
then the other one is going chronological order, right like
you don't ask I don't ask Jason Stewart if I'm
interviewing Jason Stewart about Game two of the Dodgers game
Dodgers series, and then go, hey, what about in August
when the Dodgers were scuffling? What'd you think is show?
Speaker 2 (05:30):
Hey?
Speaker 1 (05:30):
Then like that your your brain doesn't work that way.
There's a starting point at any point, and the whole
path has to work in chronological order. So last night,
the Cubs take down the Padres, and I mean, the
last call of the game was a terrible call, but
the Padres are a team that this is the second
(05:52):
straight year where you feel like the Padres have a
great shot to steal one on the road. Remember last year,
they're up two games to one and the best of
five series against the La Dodgers. Dodgers are scuffling. Jay
Stu has already decided that everybody's going to be fired,
and the Dodgers turn around and decide, hey, we're gonna
And that was the ball incident, right where Dave Roberts
(06:15):
says a ball was thrown at him. There's video of it.
Supposedly that got the Dodgers all upped up and want
to fight, and they stood up to the bullies that
are the Padres. The Padres a kind of baseball bullies.
They want to be tough, they want to have bravado,
they want to play with Latin panash, they want to
talk trash, and they want a Cadillac around the basis.
That's the reputation. So for a second straight year, they lose,
(06:37):
this time in the wild Card round to the Cups.
Manny Machada was asked about the season after the game.
Please take a listen to the question as well as
the answer.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
I know it just ended, but how do you assess
a season like this? I mean, I mean a top
of question is that, dude, my guy?
Speaker 2 (06:58):
How do I assess the season.
Speaker 4 (07:00):
We just lost.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
How do you think I assessed the seat? How do
you think I assess it?
Speaker 2 (07:04):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
I was asking you tell me what's a loss?
Speaker 1 (07:08):
We lost? How do you assess it? It's a loss?
You're lost?
Speaker 5 (07:13):
Come on, dude, I mean you can ask better questions
than that.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
Let's call no, you actually can't ask a better question
than that. How how would you assess this season? It
allows Manny to take it anywhere. He was, well, we
just lost, but we had a an unbelievable Oh, we
just like it's a disappointment, it's a success, it's somewhere
(07:38):
in the middle, it's failure, it's whatever word you want
to describe. It was a perfect question, perfect tone. And
of course we know that Manny is defensive because well
he's Manny and he did the smiling guy. You can
ask a better question that. Tell me what the better
question is. Jase, you've been doing this a long time.
(07:58):
What's your reaction to the question. I know you're actually
the answer. Not a man Many guy. Many's seen as
a leader now with the Padres. I have lots of
Padres fans like, oh man, he's he's so much better
as a leader. He's whatever. Maybe he is, but forget
about We'll get to the other discussion, which is, what's
the media's purpose in being there. Did you have an
issue with the question?
Speaker 3 (08:19):
No, the loss is baked into the question. The loss
is baked in. Now that you've lost and your season
is over, that's the implication, how do you assess the
season now? And it was actually a question to give
to give many a chance to go totally positive, and
Manny went the other way.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
Yep, yep, yeah, go ahead, Sammy.
Speaker 6 (08:47):
I was it was a fair, totally fair question. I think,
like they just lost the game. He's emotional and he's
not even He's like, he can't go big picture looking
at the season. He's looking at this three game series
that they're now out in the wild card round, and
he's upset. It's like the season was just steps to
get to where we wanted to start the next set
(09:08):
of steps to get to the World Series, and right there,
you know, he gets snippy. He probably got to handle
that a little better, but he's like, he can't go
big picture in his brain when he's so wrapped up
in the moment.
Speaker 5 (09:17):
They just lost and now they're out.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
Of the playoffs.
Speaker 6 (09:20):
Just giving him a little bit of room there too.
Explain why he answered that way, but it was a
totally fair.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
How old is Manny Machada, that's your question, han Yam
mid thirty's in his thirties. I don't know if he's
made thirty three thirty three, that's mid thirties, early mid thirties.
How long has he been playing Major League baseball? Fourteen years?
How many times he been in the playoffs. I'm gonna
(09:50):
go with six. I guess six would be my guess
without looking it up. So he's gone through this six times.
He's a veteran, he's a leader. I understand the emotions
are hot. That's this is the time to get the interview.
They flew home after the game. They scattered. They're in Cabo, right,
(10:13):
so this is part of the job. Is you lose
a game, you make thirty five million dollars. You can
answer some questions like how would you assess the season?
He's not a child, right, he doesn't. He's not Shador Sanders,
who hasn't played a full season in the NFL. He's
(10:35):
played fourteen years in Major League baseball. He's played for
one of the most storied franchises, two of the most
he's played for one of the most story franchises in
Major League Baseball. Right, he's been an All Star in baseball.
This is not his first rodeo. Somebody just asked him,
how would you assess the season? Take it however you
(10:57):
want to take it. You can't do that. That's your failure,
not the interview and not the interviewer. Stop this and
and look there's a portion of it which is on
all of us because we've we've done this to where
the media is always bad. There's nothing, there's zero wrong
with the question. Nothing. It is a perfectly open ended, neutral,
(11:19):
correctly asked question where he addressed him, and he started,
do you have to start with the statement now the
season's over? I probably it's a it's as you said, Jason,
it's a statement of fact, now the season's over. I
would just says the season. I mean, the only thing
I would change you could be the wording how would
you characterize the season. But again, there's that's that's we're
(11:43):
just moving around. We're just moving around words. We're not
doing anything special, changing anything at all. But this this
media defiance thing, and you get other people who will
like support it, like no, no, this is where Manny
is wrong. This is where the is right. Guy just
asked for it. What do you think of the season,
(12:04):
So he asked you takeing it wherever you want to
take it, And as you said, Jason, you can take
it positively. Hey, I get it. We just lost our
last game in the Cubs. They're really good. We're better
than we played. I'm really disappointed how it ended. But
I gotta tell you another year, the padres in the playoffs.
We're going to get there. And this was a great year.
(12:25):
May not had a great ending, but a great year
or man, it's just disappointing. Here we are again. We
feel like we're the best team. We feel like we're
the best team, and we came up short.
Speaker 3 (12:38):
I mean this came up every week in the week
because remember Ben Johnson on Sunday said something again that
he regretted and he had to walk back and apologize.
Ben Johnson hasn't worn this as a first year head coach.
You are in your second year as a head coach.
Manny Machado makes forty million dollars a year as a
part of that salary to you and Ben Johnson. Mann
(12:59):
machado as a part of that salary. You are being
paid to have the skill set to have a level
head in this moment. I'm guessing you have not loved
every question after a loss that you've ever gotten, but
you have the professionalism because you're paid to have that
skill set. It's not the reporter's fault that you lost.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
No again, and it's all you're asking for is for
somebody to be fair, right, somebody be fair. I tell
you the only two there's only two things three that
I had an issue with last year, And like, look
there's people tweeting and writing stories and whatever, like I
(13:42):
can't control, and none of this can you control. But
you know, I allowed complete and total access to people
that asked for complete and total access to write a story.
I didn't say anything. I don't say I didn't say,
don't say anything to nobody about nothing but blah blah blah,
none of that. None of that. Okay. So I had
(14:03):
a couple of writers follow us around and one guy
wrote a story which again I could it felt like
he went did backflips to try and make it more
neutral because we knew each other, we had a relationship.
But in his effort to make it more neutral and
provide both sides of the story. He actually puts some Now,
(14:27):
there was some negative in there, but there was just
things that didn't there was no reason to write about it,
and it took away from what he told me he
found right, Like his whole premise was when he told
me when he walked away, was I thought it was
going to come up here and it was gonna be
a complete clown show. And I walked away going, it's
just a program that doesn't is too young and doesn't
(14:48):
have good enough talent, but is actually kind of really
cool to be around. Like that was what he told me.
And then when you read the story, like, well, that's
not what you put on paper, you know he didn't.
And so my my issue with him though, was in
a kind of a mischaracterization of an event in which
I was like, we were both there for why would
(15:09):
you characterize it that way? And so I just picked
up the phone and called him, and there's I thought
there was no negative there. I had a writer, a
student newspaper writer last year, when Oklahoma State was struggling
at the end of the year, wrote an article that said, well,
at least they didn't hire me because we're struggling. I
(15:30):
was like, so I called him, and I was just
And the only reason I knew it existed was because
my daughters both go to school there, and they happened
to be a day where they happened to pick up
both look at the paper and they're both like, Dad,
why are they writing an article about you? You don't
coach here. I was like, I don't know, And so,
you know, I called the guy who was a young
(15:50):
who was a younger dude, and I was just like,
did I do something wrong? Was there somebody did when
we were parents in school there, and I, you know,
didn't buy them a beer? Or was I rude to somebody?
Like to tell me? It's like, why would you ask that?
I was like, well, cause, why would Why am I
catching strays when you don't know anything about my situation?
And oh yeah, by the way, when we played you,
(16:12):
we're down two at the half, we got beat Did
we look like a well coached team? Yes? Well, so
why is this even a part of your purview? My
point is I thought both were unfair, but I also
didn't say they're unfair and voice it in the moment
and make us think about it. I've had people ask
questions and again part of the power you have when
(16:34):
you're the person being interviewed, even as an interviewer, it
frustrates me, but the truth is that they're allowed to
say whatever they want. You ever have an interview or
you Politics is a perfect example, because Jay Stu, I
know you are like me, we do like watching politics.
But you'll like post debate or something will happen and
they'll they'll ask one of these what do they call it?
(16:55):
When you're like a super supporter of somebody run for president?
You're there, what's the word?
Speaker 2 (17:03):
No?
Speaker 1 (17:03):
Not a mega donor when you're that's it? Thank you?
I though you're a surrogate.
Speaker 6 (17:08):
Wow, good job, Isaac.
Speaker 3 (17:10):
Right.
Speaker 6 (17:11):
I wouldn't come up with that.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
It's a it's a very political TV where like they
have this.
Speaker 6 (17:15):
I follow politics very closely.
Speaker 1 (17:17):
Okay, So there you go. So you know what like
a surguit is the correct word. So they have one
of the surguate's on there and you'll ask him a
question about healthcare and they'll go on to some they'll
just take it and not answer that question and then
ticket wherever they want. Like, you're allowed to do that.
It's annoying when you're asking the questions, but you're I'm
powerless over it because if I interrupt you, now I'm rude, right,
(17:38):
But if I allow you to, you can take the
interview where you want. So the first thing that Manny
and Manny should know this. He's been doing it long
enough where if you ask him a question you don't
like it, you can go off on any tangent, like
if you want to make a point about the umpires,
there's your moment. If you want to make a point
about hey, we're playing on the road in Chicago instead
of playing at home in San Diego, or it's unfair
that there's three games in Chicago. We have airplanes these days,
(18:01):
we don't have to have three games in one days.
You can do that if you want to say, if
you want to say anything you want to say, you
can say it. But instead he tries to intimidate and
insult and make it out like he was a bad question.
So yes, to answer your question, I don't know as
Jays do or or or Sam. Yeah, I've been asked
(18:22):
some questions, but again I understand that the powers within me.
My issue moving into year two is I don't need
to talk as long like nobody. My press conferences are
too long. Ask the question to answer the question, move on,
ask the question to answer the question, move on, ask
the question to answer the question, to move on. I'm
trying to layer it and contextualize it so everybody understands.
It's not that deep. It doesn't require that much. But
(18:45):
I you know, this is Manny being manny. This is
the Dodgers being the Dodgers. Even if it was a
negative question, which is not. It's really interesting that the
Dodgers here they are I mean Dodgers, sorry, Padres. Here
they are trash talkers. Here, they are Bravado. Here, they
are Hey, this is how we roll. Then you get
beat again and they they're terrible losers, terrible losers. But
(19:07):
in the world of broadcasting, there ain't nothing wrong with
that question. Zero.

(19:42):
time for our Express Pro Pro the Week. Broth Week
goes to Yankees rookie right hand er Cam. I just
want to make sure I don't get fired. I just
want to make sure Schlier. I know it's Schlitler, but
I was reading and it's speaking kind of fast, and
(20:04):
it was here's what we're gonna do. I'm gonna say
the first name, You're gonna say the last name. Then
I'm because again. If I butcher it, then somebody clips it,
puts it on social it becomes a thing. If Sam
butcher's it, which he won't because he's got it down. Okay,
it's it's sorry, Sam. It's a nothing burger, right, It's
just somebody mispronouncing a name that you can someone to
(20:25):
jump on your words. Okay, our rookie. Our Pro of
the Week goes to Yankees rookie right hander Cam Schlittler,
who made history paching pitching eight scoreless innings and striking
out twelve and the Yankees win over the Red Sox
to advance past the wild Card round. Congrats to Cam
(20:46):
Schlittler for being our Express pros Pro the Week. All right,
let's welcome in Jared Smith. He's our Fox Sports Radio
betting analysts. He's a co host of Fox Sports Radio
Countdown to Kickoff with Rich Wornberger and Brian no airs
each Saturday between nine am and Newe's time. Listen live
on any of our Fox Sports tradio philis are on
the iHeartRadio at presented by bet m G m Okay.
(21:09):
Let's let's get Let's just get right after it, Jared
love the picks. The big games of the weekend are
pretty easy. Vandy Bama. Bama is a big favorite. Vandy
probably as good as they've ever been, as competitive as
they've ever been. And of course Fandy beat Bama last
year at home. Huge surprise. Uh now, it's not a
surprise how good they are. Who do you like in
(21:29):
the Bama and Alabama game? Bama game?
Speaker 2 (21:33):
Sorry, yeah, this is not not your older brothers or.
Speaker 5 (21:36):
Even your daddy's Vandy offense.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
Right, I don't have the Southern accent chops like you
did when we were talking about Bama earlier this week.
But this is a Bama team that I think has
stressed not turning the football over. One of three teams
actually in the country without a turnover this year. I
bet you can't name the other two. I couldn't until
I looked it up, Yukon and Temple. How about that, Bama,
Yukon and Temple only three teams in the country this
year that have not turned the football over this year.
(21:59):
Big talking point from Ryan Grubb over the summer. And
that's why they love Ty Simpson. He takes care of
the football. Last year in this game, right Vandy Bebama
number one team in the country at the time, turnover
margin was two to zero in Vandy's favor. So turnover
margin obviously is huge in every game, and I think
it's gonna be huge in this game. I love watching
this Vandy offense.
Speaker 5 (22:18):
Again.
Speaker 2 (22:18):
This is not the five yards four yards in a
cloud of dust offense that we have seen in years past.
Speaker 7 (22:25):
O C.
Speaker 5 (22:25):
Tim Beck.
Speaker 2 (22:26):
He is hunting explosives this year and they get his
They get their best players of the football in space,
which is what I love. The critical down DNA though,
like third and short second and five second and six,
like they're gonna run quarterback power, They're gonna run jets
sweet because Diego Pave is a freaking mad man. Like
this guy, he's like the Rooty of SEC quarterbacks. Five
foot nothing, one hundred and nothing. But he makes Sunday
(22:48):
throws and he plays without an ounce of fear, and
he's got instincts and awareness and experience, and I love
the way he plays the game of football. Sometimes he
tries a little too hard, right, does a little too much,
and that's when Vandy gets in trouble. But they've got
some dudes, and again, obviously Alabama has more dudes. But
I love the tight end stours. He's their best player.
They got a couple of receivers that can move. Trey
(23:11):
Richardson's a Juco transfer five to eleven hundred and seventy
five pounds that he can really get on top of you.
He's got great twitch. I love Junior Cheryl number zero
five to eleven, Nashville kid. He flashes on tape as well.
He scored a touchdown a couple weeks ago against South
Carolina on a goal line whip return route, which is
becoming a very popular goal line concept in college football,
(23:31):
and keep an eye on the running back number forty one,
Jamizel Lassiter five eight, zero star recruit. His only offer
I think coming out of high school was at Army,
and Vandy scooped him up and now he's making plays,
He's breaking tackles in the SECS.
Speaker 5 (23:46):
Zero star recruit.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
Again, it's remarkable what Tim Beck has done with this offense.
On the other side of the ball for Obama, Doug,
I just I think Tys Simpson, I mean he looks
him and Dante Moore look like the two best quarterbacks
in college football right now. I think they have an
elite skill set on the outside with their three weapons Horton, Bernard,
and Williams. Each of them had eight targets or more
(24:08):
in the Georgia game. They all bring something different to
the table. Horton's the Miami transfer six foot four, big,
physical alpha receiver. Bernard the transfer from Washington that the
bar brought over. He's kind of their do it all guy,
can line up all over the field. And Ryan Williams,
a shifty kid you remember from last year's probably the
best slock eye in the country. So Bama's offense dangerous.
Vandy's offense much better than you think. Feels like over
(24:30):
fifty five and a half, pretty reasonable total. I think
we see some points in this game.
Speaker 1 (24:34):
Okay, let's go to Miami traveling to take on Florida State.
You know, Florida State off of a devastating loss up
up at Virginia, and of course Miami even though they've
had a week off. You look at consecutive wins over
a red hot South Florida team and Florida, but both
are at home. So they've beaten Notre Dame, They've beaten
(24:55):
South Florida, who's ranked at the time, and Florida's down,
but it's still a rivalry game. Now they go to
Florida State. Eight. The line I see is Miami is
a four and a half point favorite at Florida State.
I'd be all over the knowles, but I do know
that Miami's really good upfront and their experience at quarterback.
Who do you like?
Speaker 5 (25:15):
Yeah, Miami's very good upfront.
Speaker 2 (25:17):
I think you don't know how good a team is
in college FOOTBA until they go on the road, and
this will be Miami's first row test. I think that
is the X factor in this game, because when I'm
handicapping games, I look for strength on weakness. Is there
a matchup edge where one team is really good and
the other team is really bad. That's really not the
case in this game. It's strength on strength. Florida State's
(25:39):
run game top ten across the board, typically third and manageable.
Right when you run the ball well, you're typically good
on third downs and you typically get into favorable third
down and distances. And in Miami is fantastic against the run.
Twenty percent of runs against the games this year stopped
at or behind the line of scrimmage. So who wins
that strength on strength really really tough to predict that.
(26:00):
I think Castianos. It's actually funny when you look at
a quarterback like Thomas Castianos, you would think, oh wow,
when he throws for a lot of yards, his team
probably wins.
Speaker 5 (26:10):
It's actually the opposite.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
When he throws for two forty or more, his teams
are one and five because a they're a little bit
more desperate, I think when he's throwing, because that's not
his game. To me, it's more about can you stay
in those manageable first and ten, second and five, third
and two. If you're in third and eight and Castianas
is throwing it all day. That's probably a recipe for
(26:31):
a Miami win. Deuce Robinson's the guy for Florida State.
He has to be absolutely brilliant in this game. Miami's
one weakness is the secondary. They're outside the top sixty
in a lot of categories that they're inside the top
fifty in in almost every other metric. So against the run, fantastic.
Against the pass, I would say average to maybe slightly
below average. They also can be a little sloppy one
(26:52):
hundred and thirtieth in penalties. So if you want to
talk about going on the road, Mario Crystobaal sometimes can
have these brain farts that that's the recipe for a
Florida State upset. And then of course you get the
bounce back element to them going and playing a tough game. Listen,
that game could have gone either way against Virginia last
Friday night. The ball did not bounce their way. The review,
it just didn't go their way. And I think they
(27:13):
played well enough to win that game. The stats certainly
reflected it. They just couldn't get the break.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
Late.
Speaker 2 (27:18):
Carson Beck has played a lot of football. I don't
expect the environment to rattle him. But he's also been
interception prone, and that's I think something Florida State can
take advantage of. My gut is with you on this one, Dog,
I say take the points. I think this is a
close game. But Miami has that element in them to
where they can play bully ball, and if they can
play keep away from Castianos.
Speaker 5 (27:38):
Could be a long day for that Florida State defense.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
Okay, help me out with this one. Kentucky goes in
to Georgia. Georgia's I got it at twenty and a half,
and I understand the thought is, well, george is just
gonna mollywomp. Kentucky's pretty good now, and it had to
be has to be devastating the way in which they
lost the game to Alabama. I'm especially at home Sanford Stadium.
(28:02):
It feels like too many points to be does it you.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
It's one of those spots where I think Kentucky has
the tools to keep this close. What do I mean
by that? They have dudes up front and they will
slam it right down your throat. They're not athletic at
running back, They're just average at running back, but they're
offensive line and I feel like I'm I spend more
time analyzing offensive lines than I do any other position
(28:25):
in the sport, because I just I think it's so
important to know the trenches. Here are the sizes and
weights for the Kentucky offensive line. Left tackle six' eight three,
twenty left guard six six three forty centers six four three,
twenty right guard sixty five three, twenty right tackle six
seven three. TEN a lot of these kids ARE sec.
(28:46):
Transfers group of five, transfers experienced. Kids i'm not Saying
kentucky's gonna go in there and blow the doors Off georgie's,
defense but what have we seen From georgia's defense this?
Year they've had some issues a stopping the, run be
just getting off the.
Speaker 5 (29:02):
Field so this feels like a really ugly.
Speaker 2 (29:04):
Game it feels like a game Where kentucky wants to
muck it up and slow it, down and they play
a lot of zone. Defense george is gonna have to
be really good against the zone and against the, blitz
and they're big, upfront not only on the offensive line
AS i, mentioned but on the defensive line as. WELL
i do think the counter is effective For. Georgia that's
a play that they. Love it's their bread and. Butter
but you are gonna see a lot Of cover three From.
(29:26):
Kentucky what beats cover three flats and? Seams who's good
in the? Seams Zachariah. Branch to, me this is a
game where Gunner stockton has to identify zone coverage and
then hit the, seams and if the seams aren't, there
check it down into the, flat immediately get your three
or four or five yards and live to fight another.
Down because the one Thing i've noticed From stockton this,
year he's a little bit trigger, shy like he just
(29:46):
doesn't quite maybe trust himself or trust his.
Speaker 5 (29:49):
EYES i think this.
Speaker 2 (29:50):
Is a spot where they have an edge in the
secondary if they can identify what these zone coverages are
showing them and just rip. It you've got dudes on the, outside,
like just rip it into a tight. Window trust That
branch And young and all these Other georgia five star
kids are gonna make the right. Play but if they
get into a battle And kentucky's you, know in this
game late and they can run the ball with that
behemoth offensive, line then, yeah maybe this is too many.
Speaker 1 (30:12):
Points last, One texas taking On. Florida florida desperately needable
win at. Home they're five and a half point.
Speaker 2 (30:21):
Dogs, yeah both teams off the BY i think that
Helps lagway get. Healthy florida's played the tougher. SCHEDULE i
give him credit for. THAT i would not be shocked
if this is the game That Billy napier, wins because
it just seems like everyone's jumping off the. Ship in
order For florida to win this, game you gotta commit
to the. Run Jayden boss averaging almost six yards of,
(30:43):
carry but he only had ten carries AGAINST lsu twelve Against.
Miami explain that to. ME i JUST i can't understand
why you're not giving this kid.
Speaker 5 (30:50):
More. Looks texas really struggles on third. Downs.
Speaker 2 (30:53):
Now WHEN i Watch, ARCH i know there's been a
lot Of arch. Chatter WHEN i watch him on, FILM
i see. JITTERY i see a guy who's. Overstriding his
misses are low and. Away he's having trouble controlling the.
Speaker 5 (31:05):
Nose of the.
Speaker 2 (31:06):
Football that's a surprise for, Me, doug because this guy
was basically born with a football in his. Hand so
the fact that his mechanics are a little bit tweaked
tells me that there's something wrong mentally and it's not,
physical because this guy's been a physical. Specimen he's big,
kid six four two. Twenty he's again been given every
opportunity to succeed at the quarterback. Position so what do
you do when a kid's jittery with his feet in the.
(31:27):
Pocket will you get him out of the, Pocket let
him run some quarterback, power let him do some boots
and some rollouts and some, screens and allow that, scheme
which it's a fantastic scheme That texas. Runs get the
ball out in space to your guys, quickly and don't
let him think too.
Speaker 5 (31:42):
Much just let him.
Speaker 2 (31:43):
React we saw him settle down a little bit after
he got hit in The Sam Houston state. Game he
took that big shot in the pocket and then he
came back, late had a running touchdown kind of or
a farm the. Kid after that, hit he kind of settled.
In so the first play of this game should be
quarterback power right down the. Middle let him take an
early hit and let him you whose his, athleticism manipulate
the launch point and try to get him out of the,
(32:03):
pocket because that's when it looks Like arch is at his.
Speaker 5 (32:05):
BEST i Think texas wins this. GAME i do Think.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
Sark at his core is just an elite offensive, coach
AND i think he'll figure out whatever's going on inside
Of archer's.
Speaker 1 (32:13):

Speaker 6 (33:41):
Of THE wnba. Commissioner, no the Players collier.
Speaker 1 (33:47):

THE wnba said these things just not. Great and what

YEAH i got her, back it's a conversation that there's
no way word forward that was it was said or

an entire segment on, this and, again who's producing. That
(34:34):
THE wnba in a controversy over. IT i get that
you're a rights, holder but you're also a rights holder
of THE, NFL, NFL, NFL nfl And Major League. Baseball
coming off of wild card games is what MATTERS Wnba
for a player that's not going to play the rest
of the, year talking about a commissioner that nobody knows
or cares, ABOUT i don't get. It let's get to the, press.
Speaker 4 (35:01):

Quarterback Lamar jackson a short time ago For sunday's game Against,
houston and the injury Riddled Los Angeles chargers doug officially
ruling out left Tackle Joe alt and Returner Darius davis
For sunday's game Against. Washington they also listed right Guard
Mackay beckton as, questionable still officially in concussion, protocol although
(35:30):
he was still a full participant in practice.
Speaker 1 (35:33):
Today he's in concussion, vertical but he can. PRACTICE i
didn't know.
Speaker 8 (35:36):
That, well it's it's it's more semantics than anything.
Speaker 1 (35:41):
Else, okay, yeah you have there's steps you have to
go through to play after. Concussion so he's clearly cleared
some of the hurdles that you just can't clear those
hurdles every day.
Speaker 8 (35:50):
