Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio. Man, do we have
a great show for you? Graham Gno made a sixty
three yard field goal. He's gonna join us. Interesting story
on how we became a kicker. I want to get to.
I believe he kicked a seventy one yarder in high school.

(01:06):
Seventy one yarder in high school that was waved off
because some dope committed a penalty. How about that? I
would you like to do that? You kick a seventy
one yard They're like now sorry, fall start no, wait,
wait that counts. Yeah, fall start holding the legal procedure, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.

(01:27):
We got a lot to get to stephen A doing
the race bating thing. While we won't take the bait,
but we kind of will that upcoming. Got my thoughts
on Alonzo Ball after we heard what Lebron said about
Lonzo Ball. But let's react to last night. No, not
the Red Sox beat down of the Yankees. Are you
kidding me? Sixteen to one, sixteen to one, sixteen to one.

(01:57):
I can't remember a beating like that. One Sin sins.
If you remember the Red Sox last had a three
games to none lead on the Yankees, there is that
type of beat town. But it's a seven game series.
It's a five game series, and now the Yankees have
to stave off elimination. Astro's eliminate the Indians, Dodgers, eliminate
the Braves, and the Rockies were eliminated seemingly before that

(02:19):
series ever began. So we're waiting on one game or
potentially two games in the A l DS to decide
who's in the CS is in the A L side.
All right, man, we got a lot to get to
Oh yeah, Andrew Brees now the all time passing yardage leader,
which I'm told is a great thing, and I believe

(02:39):
is a great thing. And here's the thing, here's how
I do it. Okay, My job is not to be fanboy.
Your jobs to be fanboy or your jobs to be
the hater. My job is to give you opinion, but
also give you context within that opinion. It I have

(03:02):
to contextualize what he's done, when he's done it, and
how it measures up with some of the great quarterbacks historically.
Drew Brees had an amazing career um some success early
on in San Diego, there were issues with arm strength,
with size, with accuracy, and then he was gonna be
replaced by Philip Rivers and he got hurt again. To

(03:25):
tell the full context of it, Philip Rivers was going
to be the quarterback and Drew Brees got hurt. Philip
Bridges did not become the quarterback because Drew Brees got hurt.
It was Drew brees last game. It's kind of a celebration.
Everybody liked him, but everybody realized kind of like kind
of like Alex Smith last year with the Red with
with the Kansas City Chiefs or Alex Smith with the

(03:48):
forty Niners, although he had more success with the Niners
and a little bit more success um in Kansas City
than Drew Brees had in San Diego. The idea was
San Diego believed they had topped out with Drew Brees
and that Philip Rivers could take them to the next level, which,
by the way, Philip Rivers shortly thereafter actually did. They

(04:08):
went from a team that one I think at most
eleven games of winning fourteen regular season games. Both of
course failed in the playoffs. So he gets hurt and
nobody wants him because if you ever saw you've ever
seen a shoulder like that, you're like nobody's coming back
from that injury. He did. He turned around a New
Orleans team that I believe in won one playoff game

(04:30):
in the history of their franchise to winning a Super Bowl,
this after Katrina, all of these great things. I can
tell you without a shadow of doubt that Drew Brees
is a tremendous quarterback. Has had a spectacular career, but
he's not one of the top five quarterbacks of all time.
He's benefited greatly from playing in the Dome, playing under
Sean Payton and playing for a long time and playing

(04:51):
being one of the first in this generation, in this
generation of guys that have played long enough where four
thousand yards a new three thousand yards and five thousand
yards new thousand yards plus. He's played on some teams
with some bad defenses, which has given him more opportunities
to throw the ball more. He's basically Steve Nash with

(05:12):
a title, and Steve Nash might have won a title
if not for the one game suspension of a Maristodemarin borst. Yeah,
we actually talked about this yesterday. He's Steve Nash by
using at first Reggie Bush and then others guys, guys
that were hybrids, or using Ladanian Ladanyan Thominson. These are

(05:34):
guys who would catch the ball in the backfield, create
mismatches with people without standing play caller in Sean paynon
playing indoors, like the numbers of him playing indoors versus
outdoors are stark in comparison. If you want to tell
me that's being a hater, well then you're not actually
listen to me. I think he's really good, but I

(05:59):
also think that he's been helped out by circumstances. Here's
Drew Brees setting the record. Ball spotted at the Saints
thirty eight yard line, first and ten two forty six remaining.
Saints lead it twenty six. Breeze has completed passes the
eight different receivers already. He starts in the shotguns, drops back,
looks to the fourth sideline, wide open tray Plon Smith

(06:22):
and Treys Smith is gonna go to the end zone.
Drew Brees has done it. You have just witnessed history
New Orleans. Drew Brees is the NFL's all time leading passers.
It's one thing to do it, It's nothing to do
it on a touchdown pass. Here's Drew Brees. I was
on the Saints radio network. Here's Drew Brees after the game.
Didn't know what's gonna happen on the first play to

(06:44):
Trey Kwon, But um, I don't think it could have
happened in any better fashion than it did. And to
have then that moment with my teammates on the field
the offensive line did played out even greater than I
ever could have imagined. I tried to rehearse the scenario
in my mind this week, just so I could really
show us on the game. But to then have a
moment with Sean and Mr Baker from the Hall of

(07:05):
Fame and then my boys and my wife Brittany and
my daughter Ryland. That was just incredible, pretty incredible stuff.
Drew Drew Drew Brees, who I think is also one
of the good guys. But we should also point out
that the seven and the disappointing seven and nine seasons
help him statistically, That playing in a dome helps him statistically,

(07:28):
that playing until he's thirty nine helps him statistically, and
that um and he took a bunch of money during
his not this contract, but the previous contract, which hurt
them defensively, which helped him statistically but hurt his overall team.
I think all of this is contextualization of what is

(07:49):
a storybook career, and he's opened the door for other
diminutive quarterbacks, the Russell Wilson's, the Baker Mayfield and maybe
the to a divide logos of the world. Whereas in
the past they were too small to remain in the pocket,
here's a true pocket passer who's shown that size is

(08:10):
in fact just a number. So I like Drew Brees, No, no,
I love Drew Brees and Drew Brees the story. But
am I taking him ahead of Brady? No? Am I
taking him a have a Rodgers? No by taking him
ahead of Peyton, No Montana, no Elway, no Marino, no,

(08:42):
just proper contextualization. But man, what a way. What a
way to set the record, What a way to set
the record. And sounds pretty good this year, sonds pretty
good this year. How about he sets a record on
a touchdown the on the you know that quickly in
the game where you just tout that down and you
grab a beer, you grab a coke, you said, and

(09:03):
he're like, wow, I want to see Drew Brees break
this record. But um, look, some of this is a
a stat accumulator record. I remember when Lenny Wilkins broke
the all time wins record in the NBA. I was
seen as the bad guy because I pointed out, you know,
he's also the all time losing Lucasys coach in NBA history.
Then Don Nelson passed Lenny Wilkins, and nobody considers Don

(09:27):
Nelson one of the great elite coaches. Passing yards is
not necessarily the sign of a all time great quarterback.
He's great the story is great, but oftentimes we get
caught up in the good of the story, the positive
of the story, and we don't give it contextualization. If
you want to tell me that I'm a breeze hater,
that's fine all I am as a realist. He's given

(09:54):
New Orleans a chance time and again, and when they've
had a defense, they've been a play off team or
a playoff contender. It also kind of gives a little
bit of a nod to Tony Romo, who, believe it
or not, Sean Payton wanted before he could get Drew
Brees and Romo whose career is maligned. And the fact

(10:16):
that the only one one playoff game shows you gotta
have a defense, gotta have a little luck, I gotta
have timing of your season lining up with your team
being really good. Joel Clado joined the show upcoming, up coming, next,
I'm gonna ask him. He's a former quarterback from Colaraback
of Colorado. Of course he was in the Big twelve,

(10:36):
but after Drew Brees was that in the Big ten
at Purdue. Just about their careers didn't overlap. I think
Clatt was playing professional baseball when Clatt when breeze was
in college football. Plus, I've been asking about Oklahoma making
a change of defensive coordinat no more stoops in the program?
Does that fix things? Is Texas back? And Michigan has

(10:59):
yet another big test this week? They welcome in Wisconsin
the Badgers fixed. Now, got a bunch of things to
get to. We'll do it next. Be sure to catch

everything here at Fox. He's hosted on weekends during the
Nation Football League. Have you on sideline for the NFL
yot No, I have not. You're beating me to it. Yeah,

(12:04):
I know, but you you're probably gonna do something like
golf or the others like anchor for golf. You're gonna
take over Buck. I've already done some golf. It was
just on the digital side, so yeah, you know, I've
been I've done a little of that. Um okay, So
do I wear Crockett's gear from Miami Vice or do
I play it straight? You should probably play straight. I

(12:27):
wish you would do the Miami That would be great.
I would love to see it. I mean that Twitter
on fire, that's that. I think that's the goal anyway, Joe,
But you know what, that's probably the goal. You're You're right, Joe.
Joe clatten joining is here on the Doug Gottlieb Show.
Let me ask you quickly as a former quarterback watching Brees,
watching Drew Brees, and I remember you were I think
you were still playing pro baseball when he was at

(12:49):
per Due and he brought the forward pass to the
big ten uh he and he and Joe Tiller slinging
that thing around um contextualized Drew brees from my quarterbacks perspective.
Oh gosh, well, I mean he breaks a lot of molds, right,
I mean, I think he is one of the big
reasons why we see guys like let's say, Russell Wilson

(13:11):
in the National Football League. And then that allowed more
dominoes to fall, and that's why guys like case keenum
and are in the league. And now guys like Baker
Mayfield are in the league. Uh and and I think
that in large part was due to Drew and and
what you know, he has meant to the game, really
dug for for a long time. And let's face it,

(13:33):
the fact that he's in New Orleans Saint think about
it this way is the reason that we are witnessing
the greatest decade of dominance in college football that we've
ever seen at Alabama. Because if Drew goes to Miami,
you can make a strong argument that Nick Saban is
still the head coach of the Miami Dolphins. Yep, yep,

(13:53):
and and and and all of history college football, complete history,
college football changes hudder, per sent and real quick, I
do have a real quick personal story because right after
he did sign with New Orleans. And remember part of
what Miami was so concerned about as he had just
blown his shoulder out in in uh San Diego in

(14:14):
a game against Denver, and so New Orleans took the
shot on him. It's right after Katrina. They're gonna be
back in the Dome this next season. In the fall
of two thousand and six, Well, there was a journeyman
college quarterback that got an undrafted workout with the New
Orleans Saints and it was me and I got a
contract and was there for o t a s when

(14:35):
Drew was trying to rehab and get back. This dude
was all class all the time. Came over the first
day I signed, and you know how those type of
situations go, Doug, I didn't know one single person there.
They had just drafted Reggie Bushy. They're trying to, you know,
come back for the city. I'm sitting in the lunch
room in New Orleans. He comes over and sits next

(14:56):
to me and we ended up having a lunch. He's
an unbelievable guy, and I would struck by his work ethic.
Here's the guy who's just had surgery, so he's in
one of those slings arm slings. That wasn't just you know,
a normal sling. It had like the pillow between his
body and the arm, and you can tell like his
arm is totally locked. He can't move it, he can't
do really anything because he's basically gotten his shoulder reconstructed. Well,

(15:19):
guess what he used to do. He used to get
there before any of us would get there in the summertime,
and this guy's arm was shredded after surgery, and he
would get on the treadmill, said it to about two
miles an hour and do a drop back on the
treadmill for walking for miles, basically just that like crossover
as if he was dropping back in his sling. I'll

(15:40):
always remember that. I just thought to myself, you know,
there's something about this guy. And this is before he
blew up. And obviously they would go to the playoffs
that year, and then a couple of years later they
would win a Super Bowl. But I always think back
to that moment I walked in. It was probably five
fifty maybe six am, and I walked in the facility
and drew his drenched in sweat, dropping act on the

(16:00):
treadmill in his sling and that just goes to show
you his work ethic and why he climbed the mountain
that he did. Last night, Joe Clatt, lead analyst for
Fox's college football coverage, joining us in the Doug Gotlip
Show here on Fox Sports Radio. Is Texas back? Who
was Oklahoma's defense just a waste land? Well? Maybe a
little bit of both. Um. I think Oklahoma's defense was

(16:22):
a waste land. They barely put up a fight against them.
They cannot tackle big wide receivers. It's been a problem
for a long time for them, in particular this season.
Having said that, Texas looked great, I mean, I gotta
tell you and and think about it this way, Doug.
For the first time in a decade, you can say
the Big Twelve title or a birth in the Big
Twelve title goes through Austin. He might be thinking, whoa, whoa, Joel,

(16:44):
West Virginia is undefeated. Yeah, I guess where West Virginia
has to go to Austin, Texas the first week in November.
So if you're gonna say, like, is Texas back? Um,
I don't know. Are they competing for the national title
on a consistent basis? Probably not? Right now, we'll see
as they move forward. But I can say this, Texas
says back in control of the Big Twelve because West
Virginia is gonna come down to their place. And and

(17:05):
I gotta tell you what, the way they're playing, the
way Sam Ellinger is playing, I would absolutely believe that
they're a team that's going to be in Dallas again
for that Big Twelve championship game. Right now, Oklahoma is
behind the eight ball. They've got to go to West Virginia.
It's gonna be a bit of an upset if Oklahoma
can get back into this race and ultimately find themselves
and potentially a rematch in that championship game. They still

(17:27):
nearly came back when I was incredible and unbelievable up
three touchdowns ten and a half ago, I'm like it's over,
and they scored three quick ones and Texas is stuck
in neutral. I gotta ask you, though about Mike Stoops,
who had been there before as de coordinator, then left.
We got the Arizona job that didn't work out. He
comes back. The stat I saw was twenty one times
Oklahoma had a team the red zone, twenty one times

(17:48):
the other team has come away with points. How is
this happen? How is the I mean, Oklahoma's run with
Bob Stoops was built upon that defense that he and
his brother built. How this happened, Well, that's a great question.
Part of it is that I think that this league
just beat it down over the years, and they had

(18:09):
a a period where they just didn't recruit very well
on the defensive side, and in particular on the defensive line.
And let's face it, now, there has been a shift
in college football. You know, when I was playing Doug
and in the middle of the two thousands, some great
defensive linemen came out of the Big Twelve. But I
would make the case that as the high school football

(18:30):
in Texas went almost towards the spread, one of the
positions that was ultimately hurt the most in development was
defensive line. If you look at at the players that
are are farmed for the Big Twelve, it's generally the
state of Texas, And I would argue that the state
of Texas does not have great high school defensive linemen anymore.

(18:51):
Those great defensive linemen come from Alabama, they come from
Florida and more in particularly, they come from Georgia Atlanta area,
and that Georgia kind of corridors where great defensive linemar coming.
And that's why the sec C can still play great
defense because at some degree it's still about getting the
defensive tackle in there and owning the line of scrimmage,
and that is something that Oklahoma has not had the

(19:13):
ability to do and quite frankly, no Big twelve team
has has been able to do that. And Texas is
just starting to get back to there. There's a couple
of kids a year that they've got to get and
they're starting to get them. Yeah, it's interesting because they
throw the ball so much in high school football is
opposed to Alabama and Georgia, who they still have some
you know, some teams that run it more and more
kind of traditional high school offenses. Joel Clatt joining us

(19:36):
on the Doug Gotli Show on Fox. Sport Traits go
up to the Big Ten where Michigan, aside from falling
behind early to Northwestern coming back and winning, the defense
has been excellent. They've been dominant. They got Wisconsin coming
in kind of the first big test since the since
the Notre Dame test that they failed. Turns out Notre
Dames a little better than we thought and Michigan maybe

(19:56):
kind of coming into form. What are your thoughts on
whether or not Michigan is where they're supposed to be
as opposed to where they were the first game of
the season. Well, what you know, Michigan is outside of
the one quarter that they played against Notre Dame. See
I would make the argument, and people have said that
I'm totally crazy, but I would make the argument if
you actually watched the game on film against Notre Dame.

(20:18):
They were generally the better team for three quarters, but
they had the two bombs hit on him in the
first court and they just could never come back from that.
And Notre Dame did a great job getting after the quarterback.
But as as Shay Patterson has has settled in dug
and become more comfortable, they're getting better offensively. They're starting
to run the football a little bit better. The offensive

(20:38):
line is developed a little bit. And guess where their
defense is right where we thought they would be the
number one defense in the country, And when it comes
to yards per play, number one defense in the country
under four yards per play. This is a team that
I believe is Jim Harroba's best team. But they're only
going to be considered that if they can get through
this little bit of a stretch Wisconsin, Penn State, Michigan

(21:00):
in state, if they can get through this unscathed, all
of a sudden, you're gonna start to think to yourself,
hey boy, they're gonna play Ohio State for the right
to go to the Big Ten championship game and maybe
for the right to go to the playoff. But for
right now, they just gotta take a step step by step.
For me, I like them against Wisconsin. The reason is, Doug,
is that Wisconsin has been unimpressive to me so far

(21:21):
this year. The loss to b y U. They really
should have gotten beat at Iowa in a game that
I did. They got somewhat lucky that Iowa made some
critical mistakes in that game. So I think Michigan is
gonna win this game. But they're gonna need to because
that that narrative of Jim Harbaugh doesn't win big games
is gonna hang over them until they start winning these ones.
I think you're you're gonna be at Minnesota Ohio State. Correct,

(21:42):
that's right, that's right. We're gonna go see Dwayne Haskins
get it on. Yeah, and he he struggled at times
against Penn State under pressure. Uh, they were better in
the second half against Indiana. It feels like, look, and
I think Haskins is the first kind of legit thrower
they've had, uh, you know, since this since this coaching
staff got On the other hand, I don't feel like
their defense is is dominant without Bossa and it it

(22:05):
like I I have operated on the assumption that it's
going to be Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State and somebody. We're
gonna argue about that. That's what I since the first
kickoff until now, That's what I'm convinced of. I'm a
little bit less convinced of Ohio State. Am I wrong? Yeah?
I think that if here's the devil's advocate, let me

(22:26):
just throw it out out to the to you this way,
Trace McSorley had not lost at home. Penn States a
really good team that has a big ten championship you know,
very you know in the near past, if you will,
and Ohiwo State went in there with the first year
starting quarterback and without their best player in one. See.

(22:46):
I actually think that was that when I look at
college football, the only team that I think can actually
line up and play with Bama is Ohio State. UM.
I understand that they didn't do well against the press
sure that Penn State was putting on them. And I'm
not saying that they would beat Alabama, but they are
uniquely suited to actually compete in that environment because their

(23:08):
offense has the ability to be explosive. Defensively, they clearly
can dominate at times. They've got one of the best
pass rushers in all of college football, even without Bosa,
because of a young guy that no one really knows about,
but they're going too soon. His name is Chase Young,
a defensive end. Um. I'm bullish on Ohio State. I
think Ohio State is is right where they need to be.

(23:30):
They're probably going to get a little bit healthier over
the next couple of weeks. And when they get Bosa back,
then watch out Joe clad joining us in the Doug
Gotlip Show here on Fox Sports Radio. Last thing. Any
chance anybody beats Bama. I mean, as of now, I
wouldn't bet on it. Um. And if they do run
the table, We're gonna start to have the conversation, Doug,

(23:52):
is this one of the best teams ever? You know?
And I think it's going to be considered one of
you know, the two or three best teams ever if
they can run the table. However, we have seen this,
you know, time and time again. You see it in
basketball all the time. Kentucky was gonna be the greatest
team since slice bread and tell Wisconsin beat them. It's
so interesting when you get these teams that constantly blow
people out and then you get them into the fire

(24:15):
of a close game and it's almost like they freak out.
You know, they're trying to protect their perfect record rather
than just execute the play in front of them. I
think that's gonna be the best chance that somebody has
to beat Alabama is get them in a game late
and maybe they panic. Um, of course maybe not. But
I'll tell you this Alabama team is awfully good. They're
starting to get some attrition now that they've got some

(24:35):
injuries on the defensive side. That's clearly going to affect them.
And we'll just see to what extent. Can be fascinating
to see if anybody can catch up to Obama, see
if Georgia can maintain their undefeated record. This weekend, the
SEC great stuff safe travels to Columbus and thanks for
joining us Joell absolutely Man anytime have a go on
Joel clad who seems to give us a great story
every week. Great story last week was about baseball. This

(24:56):
week it's about Drew Brees being everything he purports him
to sell he helped to be on TV and maybe
even even more so. Let's get you to Isaac Lowen Crown,
who joins us is what do you got good afternoon, Doug.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are putting Charles in charge in their
backfield today. They signed veteran free agent running back Jamal Charles,

(25:16):

t J. Yeld In dealing with an ankle injury, and
number three running back Corey grant on i r with
a foot injury. Charles is a four time Pro Bowler

reports Washington running back Adrian Peterson has a strange shoulder,
but it's not expected to keep him from playing. The
Colts have signed veteran free agent safety Mike Mitchell. Longtime

(26:24):
doud back to you, great stuff. Isaac Gotli show Fox
Sports Radio a lot of talk about the Dallas Cowboys
in their early season struggles. Take a listen to Jerry Jones.
He said this earlier today about Dak on the fan
in Dallas. He did some things that kept us in
that game the other day. Uh, and firmly can firmly

(26:46):
in the corner that we've got a quarterback that we
can build with and have for us to come in
Dak Prescott like nor must psych about it. I almost
feel like Jerry's in the reverse psychologist thing right, And
for the first thing is what did I expect Jerry

(27:07):
to say right now that he's had time to prepare?
Knew these squa knew the question was coming about Dak,
whether or not das good enough. We talked about this
yesterday with with Odell Beckham Jr. Like, even if he
does have legitimate questions about whether or not Dak Prescott
is the long term solution at quarterback, what good does
it do to tell to Dell all cowboy fans on

(27:28):
the fan in Dallas? All right? Like, all you do
is hurt your relationship with Dak. All you do is
hurt your football team, whether he tries to prove it
to you or he shuts down on you. It makes
negotiations a new contract more difficult, Like there is zero
win even if you believe otherwise. In being honest, now

(27:50):
there is the chance that he believes that. I think
the smart approach to take what would be to say,
I mean, in reality, I think when that door is closed,
you say, look, I think the play calling is not great,
could be better. I think we need to do a
better job of our personnel out wide and a tight end,

(28:11):
and I think that could be a little bit better.
That's the reality of the Cowboys. And oh yeah, by
the way, they're dealing with not having Travers Frederick, and
they're playing against a really good defensive line on the
road in Houston. Like all of these things can in
fact be true all at the same time. I know

(28:31):
you're trained in listening to Sports Trader to hear me
go on, Dak Prescott's awesome, it's the play calling and
and Jason Garrett should be fired or Dak Prescott stinks
and he should be replaced. Here's the thing that nobody
factors in. I heard Stephen A. Smith Um earlier today
on First Take said some along the lines of like, look,

(28:53):
here's what here's what black guys say. African American people
will say that it's that they don't mention enough. I'll
say it, Jason Garrett's relationship with Jerry Jones is the
reason he still has his job, and that relationship is
only because basically he's like, hey, that the relationship is
only because he's white. I'm not disputing that his relationship,

(29:15):
that his tenure in Dallas is a backup quarterback, as
you know, as a position coach is one of the
reasons that he hasn't been fired. It also might have
something to do with the fact that two years ago
didn't they win thirteen games, and then last year without
Zeke for six games, they want eight and they didn't

(29:38):
have Tyrann Smith and they didn't have Sean Lee, Like
there is some reality to it, Like I love this
idea that we want, like we want our franchises to
be stable, and yet when they're stable, we want them
to be unstable. And the only reason that it could
be stable is well, Jerry Jones is the racist. Even

(30:04):
they won nine games last year, my bad, They were
actually better nine games when they didn't have Zeke for
six and they didn't have Tyring for like five or
six games too? Like what am I missing? And the
division was damn good with the exception of the Giants, right,
Redskins were good. Eagles were the best team arguably in

(30:27):
football in the regular season before they lost their quarterback
and then won a Super Bowl without him. What am
I missing? I don't need to rape with excuse me.
I don't need a I don't need a race whistle blown.
I don't Is it because of relationships? Sure, it's also
because he has equity, and he cashed in that equity.

(30:48):
That's why they changed so many position coaches. If he
doesn't get it done, they'll be fired. But think all
of these things are in fact true. And one of
the things that people don't understand about professional sports, specifically

(31:09):
the NFL, is Okay, Jason Garrett's not good enough. Who
is You're like, oh, well, Sean McVeigh. Why they miss
on Sean McVeigh, Like, all right, you're gonna replace Jason
Garrett with the next Sean McVeigh. Where is he? You

(31:31):
better identify the right guy because they haven't all worked
out just because you get hey, play calls are working
out in Chicago. Yeah, well, they also have Khalil Mack
and awesome defense, Adam geisl seen as an offensive wizard.
And it's a mixed bag in Miami. Why because the
talent is just okay? Oh yeah. And if you don't

(31:52):
think that's good enough, that's fine. Now you gotta find
your next quarterback. It's not easy. Many have tried many
of a field this idea that you just get rid
of guys. Teams that get rid of guys really quickly
because they're not achieving, those are the ones that are unstable,
Those are the ones that hard to fix. How many

(32:13):
coaches the Browns go through? How many quarterbacks are the
brown has gone through? How's that worked out for the Browns? Oh?
Well now they're now they're awesome. They're two two and
one and both of the games they won they won
by a field goal. Do I think the Browns are good? Yeah,
it's because they've been bad for twenty years and they

(32:35):
finally figured out they got enough talent to where they're
pretty good. And as much as we're going crazy about
Baker Mayfield, the number one running team in football, they
have the number one turnover ratio in football. Those are
two things that help you win games and help protect
you from a rookie quarterback. That's just the reality of it.
But if you want to fire every coach and get

(32:55):
rid of every quarterback and change everything all the way,
and look, I'm I'm I don't think Dex good, I
don't think Jason Garrett said good. But you better have
a Plan B before you get rid of Plan he
one of the chances Drew Brees retires before Tom Brady.

Austin Neckler joins us in the Doug gott Leap Show
on Fox Sports Radio. A lot of the new guys,
especially against the Niners, they ran out, they were like wait, what,
Like it was the new guys that had to make
the adjustment. What do you tell them? He's gonna let

(33:38):
him know how it's gonna be, and you know that's
your the reality of where we're gonna beginning with and
so come out. Hey, like you said, it's playing for
each other. You're saying stands and the sans, especially for
you know, a guy like Derman, you know he's got
for s a they got all the chance and everything
coming really have you know, a stadium full of all
own fans. It's an adjustment for definitely all the new guys,

(34:00):
ministers for us in general. When did you know you
were going to stick in the league. I'd say about
way through the first season, as when physically I so
like I could play at this level and you know,
I didn't know how much success I would have or
anything like that. But that's kind of the factor when
you come into the league, you're not sure physically, especially

(34:21):
if my my situation come from a small school. Say, okay,
that's that's the biggest things any physically playing this league.
About halfway through his lines like yeah, I can physically
do this. And then since then I've been able to
make some place here, and then you know, I'm not
look back. If you missed anything from the Doug god

(35:29):
see what we got. One of the chances. After breaking
the all time passing record last night, Drew Brees spoke
with Jake Glazer of Fox Sports in the Athletic and said, quote,
do I feel like I could play this game for
a lot longer until I'm forty five and beyond? Yes?
I do. That was truly what I wanted to do.
I feel like I could do that. God willing, healthwise

(35:51):
and everything. What are the chances Drew Brees retires before
Tom Brady? Now for the record, Drew Brees thirty nine years,
two hundred sixty seven days old, Tom Brady forty one
years and sixty seven days old. What are the chances?
What are the chances that Breese retires before Brady? Umrees

(36:16):
retires before Brady. I'd say only thirty five pc chance
he retires before Brady. Here's why. I think playing indoors
helps your arm strength. I think he has a better
working relationship with Sean Payton and Drew Brees is very
much involved in flag football. He has his own league
in San Diego where he lives in the off season.

(36:37):
Whereas I feel like Tom Brady, he keeps saying he
wants to play a long time, and uh, Gizell has
said he can play as long as he wants. But
women say one thing and mean another. We all know that. Um,
I get the sense she's going to continue to pressure him.
And he doesn't seem like a football lifer. It just
doesn't seem like something even his kids are gonna do.

(37:00):
I'm going to say there's a greater chance than he
plays longer than Brady. M hmm. Interesting, Yeah, Tom, those
keen one. All the milk smoothies have to get old
after enough years. Earlier today, Jerry Jones said this on
the fan in Dallas. Number one. You saw one the
other night. You see Julio Jones. You see players like that.

(37:21):
They're they're in my mind, every team doesn't have a
Tree number one receiver when you put it in that class,
those guys that just absolutely contains the ball game, which
where they with where they are. Uh, And that hasn't
been out case because several years that we've had a
crew number one intent Dez Bryant. With that in mind,

(37:43):
what are the chances Dez Bryant, who has been tweeting
up a storm today, what are the chances Dez never
plays in the NFL again? Can I hear that cut
one more time? I thought that was really really telling,
and I hear that would cut one more time? Go ahead,
Crew number one? You saw one on the other night.
You see do the old Jones. You see players like that.

(38:04):
They're they're in my mind, every team doesn't have a
Tree number one receiver when you put it in that class,
those guys that just absolutely contains the ball game with
where they with where they are. Uh, and that hasn't
been out case several years that we've had a crew
number one several years here. Um, Look, the problem with

(38:26):
does is he doesn't know where he stands in the NFL.
He doesn't know that he needs to evolve. He doesn't
think he needs to evolve, and he may not have
the emotional intelligence to understand that and to change his
game the way Larry Fitzgerald did. Go into slot, become better,
better blocker, become a leader, become have a higher football
i Q like an Kwon Bolden did. I think there's

(38:47):
a probably a chance he never plays in the NFL again.
I do think he'll get he'll get invited to work
out for somebody in the upcoming offseason. But the fact
that he wanted to work out for the Patriots and
any wide receiver and they didn't bring him in they
brought in plenty of other guys that have had trouble
pass that that gives me the thought that the league

(39:07):
knows he's washed. Hey, there's always Canada. After the Eagles
announced that running back Jag I will miss the rest
of the season due to a torn ah c L,
speculation about a trade involving Levi on Bell has emerged.
The Eagles also restructured Fletcher Cox's deal to free up
six and a half million in cap space, but it's
being reported that it's misleading to think the restructuring was

(39:31):
done with Levy on Bell in mind. So what are
the chances Levy On Bell goes from western Pennsylvania to
eastern Pennsylvania and plays for the Eagles this season? I
think pretty good. I know that Chris Barton's report yesterday
that they weren't interested in the trade. I just it
just seems to make sense. Like, why would they restructure
a deal for their highest paid player at this point

(39:53):
in season and lose the running back and there's one available,
and they've shown that they will trade for running back
mid season much the way they did nest year. I'm
gonna go sixty percent chance he plays for the Eagles
this year. That in mind, let's take a look at
a few division leaders in the NFL up to this
point after five weeks, starting with Philadelphia, what are the
chances the Eagles wind up winning the NFC E seventy chance?

(40:13):
Eagles aren't good having gotten up to a great start.
But tell me who else you like in that division exactly?
Battle of Attrition? And what are the chances the Bears
capture the NFC Northern Division title led by the Millennial
Monster of the Midway Khalil Mack, the Millennial Monster the Midway.
I like that. I like that when I may use
that one this weekend, uh, huge game this weekend for
the turn home with the Pats and the Jets and

(40:34):
the Bills. They have a they have an easier schedule
than their conference foes. I think it's about a six
percent chance they win their division. Finally, what are the
chances the Bengals win the a f C North. Uh.
That was a big comeback against the Since again against
the against the Dolphins this past weekend and a tough
loss for the Baltimore Ravens in Division. I think it's

(40:57):
about chance they win their division game. This is game time.
On The Dug Gottlieb Show. There's a great quote from
Bill Belichick out today and it shows really the reason
that the Patriots have had great consistency. They don't complain

of the senseless rules. Next on The Doug Gotlip Show.

Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio. We're always trying to find explanations,

(41:46):
explanations for why certain businesses succeed right like um. Obviously,
some of it is understanding the market and evolving right
evolves sooner rather than later. And maybe what's interesting about
the Saints as I watched them is the way the

(42:07):
Saints have played for ten years, which is offense dominant
and defense, just try and get turnovers. Like the league's
kind of coming around to them, you know what I mean? Um?
In college basketball, I think Gonzaga is gonna be one
of the three favorites to win a national championship with
Duke and Kentucky and much like Villanova, like the basketball

(42:34):
world's kind of come around to them. Where what you
want at in order to win? The whole thing is
you need to have some potential NBA caliber players. But
it's really hard to win with one and dunes, So
you need some third, fourth, fifth year players and maybe
a couple of first and second year studs. Like when
Gonzaga nearly one national championship two years ago, they had

(42:57):
a transfer point guard, they had a a your senior
at center, and then they had Zach Collins as a
true freshman, a one and done they had. You have
to have a mixture in order to do it, and
at a high level in the NFL, you you've gotta
be able to score, and you have to be able
to pressure the passer, and you've got to be able
to create turnovers. Right the league has evolved that way.

(43:25):
I still get emails from red Box, do you guys
get any emails from red Box. Remember Netflix started. Netflix
was DVDs. You go online, you'd order your DVDs and
they send up your house and you put them back
in the package. Right now, Netflix has awesome shows. They
just evolved. Red Box was you could rent DVDs at
the store, and now they get them where they can.
They're basically like what Netflix was ten years ago. Their

(43:49):
failure to evolve or understanding the evolving times and media
has caused them to be left behind. The newing of
Patriots are fascinating study, and we've learned a bunch of
things about them. We've always known that they've been willing
to part with valuable assets, maybe a year early as
opposed to a year late. They've also been as good

(44:12):
as anybody in the history of the game at work
in the waiver wire. Josh Gordon wasn't a waiver wire,
but essentially, you know, fifth round pick for Josh Gordon.
How can they build a good enough culture to where
Josh Gordon comes in and doesn't rufle anybody's feathers, but
they can take a chance on him. Now, he wasn't
the first wide receiver they took a chance on. They

(44:32):
caught like five others. Americ Decker retired after he had
all those drops in the preseason, but nonetheless, they did
take a swing at Josh Gordon and it seems to
be a solid single or maybe even a double. Additionally,
they've they've kept costs low by nicol and diming likes

(44:53):
of Tom Brady and some others. They've been able to
have money to play with the sign guys midyear, to
make moves in the off season, spread the money around.
But maybe the most fascinating part about it is that
they understand the rule book better than anybody else in

(45:13):
the league. Remember what happened with the flate gate? How
did deflate gate go down? They're playing the Indianapolis Colts
in the playoffs and at halftime they checked the air
measurements of the footballs. They put air back in the
footballs and the Patriots actually played better. Why would the

(45:36):
NFL suspect something was amiss with the football's Well, that
was because the week before they played the Baltimore Ravens,
and the Ravens say they suspected something with the footballs.
But what really happened was after the game, Tom Brady
said the Ravens need to study the rule book because
the Ravens thought they were using a illegal formation. Bill

(45:58):
Belichick and the team. You the rules for formations and
tight end, you know, tight end eligible, line re alignment eligible,
all the different ways in which you could align, and
you can essentially trick an opponent and maybe even tricked
the officials. All understanding the rules, how they're implemented, how
they're implemented, and how they can use them to their favor.

(46:23):
I'd even go back to Spygate. We look at Spygate
as they did something wrong. Remember what Bill Belichick said
after Spygate, which is just a difference in this is
a disagreement in the interpretation of the rules. For years, years,
NFL teams have had assistant coaches and interns up there

(46:45):
in the box looking at the signs being sent in
and writing down the correlating defense or offense with the
sign being sent in. And four years they've always had
an eye in the sky filming the game. So instead
of simply filming the game, they started filming the sidelines
as well as the game. Bill Belichick said, there was

(47:07):
never nothing in the rules about this is there's a
reason you send in signs because you're trying to deceive
the opponent as to what otherwise you'd say, Hey, we're
running right, and the other team is not supposed to
know or adjust to it. It's part of football. Take
a listen to what Bill Belichick said about the way

(47:29):
in which the NFL game is being This is not
a conference call getting ready for this week's game, great
game against can City Chiefs. He was about to ask
about the new sacking rule. The new sacking rule, here's
a Bill Belichick said, they're not new rules. I mean,
you're not allowed to lead with your head, you're not
allowed the bodies playing the quarterback, and I allowed to

(47:50):
hit him, blow the knees, and I'm about to hit
him over the shoulders, and if he's out of the
pockets and some of those rules change that. If he's
in the pocket, you know you're allowed the horse collar
room us. I mean that's like the rules are the rules.
So I mean, I hope you're not implying that we've
been coaching something that was illegal and now we're changing

(48:11):
the way we're coaching it, because it's definitely not the case.
The first thing is you actually win credit with officials
when you do this. I do this when I coach,
and I wish I did some late in my playing career.
I didn't do it enough early in my playing career,
but late my playing career, which is when a when
an official makes the call, don't blame the official, blame

(48:33):
the guy who committed the foul. Hey, so listen my
my son, for example, he he's looked at strike three
on a pitch that's clearly over his head or clearly outside.
Now he little, he's little for his age, little for
his age. But what I'll say is, look, he called
it a strike. That makes it a strike. I'm not

(48:56):
gonna argue with the official about his strike zone and
whether or not I think it's appropriate, and it's a
hittable pitch. But the fact is that when you eliminate
any ability to make an excuse, it becomes a lot
easier to fix the problem. Like one of the reasons
that the Patriots have been consistently good is they don't
worry about the changing and evolving of the rules. Find

(49:20):
out what the rules are, they try and play as
as well within the rules, and push the boundaries of
that rules as possible, And when they break the rules,
they don't make excuses. For it. They don't say, well,
this is football or football plays. They simply said, I
guess I broke the rules. Have to do better next time.
It's a matter of fact way of handling your football culture.

(49:40):
And it's incredibly successful, incredibly successful. When you screw up
and you meet you screw up, you get less of
a sentence. Thank that. That's that's criminal defense. One O one.
You know, why do guys get probation, why do they

(50:01):
get diversionary programs? Because they're admitting mistakes. That's all the
NFL wants to hear. You say, like, man, you hit
them the knee below. Don't get me wrong, there's gonna
be there's gonna be some calls that go against the Patriots.
But their lack of excuse making, to me is the
part that should be taught about the Patriots legacy. Hey,

(50:24):
this is how we've taught football. You don't lead with
your helmet, you don't hit a guy near or below,
You don't hit a guy in the head, you don't
drive him into the ground. You do all these things.
You just play football. You evolved to the rules, and
if you don't, you're gonna suffer the consequences. Remember, when
Jesse James had that touchdown catch overturned. Last year, it

(50:45):
was the Steelers versus the Patriots, a game and a
catch that really decided who had a home field advantage
throughout the playoffs. In the a f C, Bill Belichick said,
the catch in the end zone very clearly stated you've
got to complete the catch. It was pretty clear. Whether
it is a better way to do that, I don't know.
It's a tough rule. In the off season, they adjusted
the rule. Bill Belichick just said, hey, based upon the rule,

(51:08):
he didn't complete that. He didn't complete the catch. He
was reaching for the end zone. Like look, I didn't
agree with the rule. Most people didn't agree with the rule.
There's a very gray area with the rule. We do
this all the time with the n c A. Right,
when somebody breaks rule, we go that's a stupid rule. Well,

(51:31):
then when the proper time comes in the proper committee,
you adjust the rule. But if we all know the rules,
operate within the rules, and you'll be fine, You'll be fine.
Daniel Jeremiah from the Joint Us from the NFL Network,

Fox Sports Radio. You know I was thinking about something.

(53:42):
Do you guys know what happened um after it really
started after nine eleven with the car industry? You guys
familiar at all? Was what happened after that eleven? And
music obviously don't think you're old enough to really remember, right,
this is seventeen years ago, so you were too. Anyway,

(54:04):
after eleven one, gas prices spiked up, and then we
were essentially at war, but we were also at the
war against fear, and in an effort to to reinvigorate
kind of faith into the economy, auto dealers for the
first time ever offered a change. Do you remember what

(54:29):
the change was, Ramos? Maybe no, I don't. I want
to say, no interests on cars. Maybe zero percent financing, right,
zero percent financing? Like what like, Yeah, if you owe
in a car and you want to pay it off
over five years, you paid off for five years, Like

(54:51):
that makes no sense. The idea was, hey, we gotta
get people buying cars again. You gotta get buying cars again.
Now there's there's a little bit of the economics of it,
and this was mostly American auto deals. Wasn't just to
keep those cars being sold. When you keep the cars
being sold, to keep the people going to work. And
it's not just car dealers, it's all the other parts

(55:13):
that they use. All these things are important, but also
let's be honest that one of the reasons, one of
the ways dealers make their money is not just on
the volume of cars they sell, but also their service centers. Right,
that's where they make a bunch of money. The problem
with the zero percent financing was it actually sold too

(55:33):
many cars. And you're like, Doug, that doesn't make any sense. Again,
stick with me for a second. The truth is that
most car owners, most new car owners, I believe, they
own their cars between three to five years. Okay, so
there's a pattern, right, once you own your car for
four years, you start looking for your new car. In

(55:55):
your fifth year, that's when you get out of it.
This has been for the last forty years or so
car buying, or specialist thirty years car buying the United States. Well, now,
people who have been in their car for only a
year or only two years, they got out of their
deals and they got a new cars. Why zero percent financing?

(56:18):
So in an effort to keep car buying on an
upward trajectory, they actually had a spike, which sounds good
at the time. What happens when most people are now
in brand new or one to two year old cars.
Two years later, nobody's buying cars anymore. Initial spike, and

(56:43):
then all of a sudden there's a big dip because
there's everybody has bought cars, and once you go zero
percent financing, one ent financing doesn't sound that great anymore.
So this is actually a problem them in the auto industry.
It's been a problem in the economy. Happened in Japan

(57:06):
where they pump money into the economy after World War Two,
and we saw the economy spiked in the eighties and
then it went flat. It's happened here up until recently,
were we pumped a bunch of money in and then
it went flat. I say that because it happens in
sports when guys own cars or have cars longer than

(57:32):
they should, or it changes cycles, it affects it affects
the next new cars. So what happened in two thousand one,
if you go back and look two thousand three and
two thousand four, there were lots of new models that
didn't sell. They didn't sell for a myriad of reasons,
but one of the the reason they didn't sell was people
weren't buying as much cars as many cars because in

(57:54):
the year or two after nine eleven, everybody had gotten
into a zero percent financing deal. In baseball, during the
steroid era, guys were hitting bombs into their late thirties.
Barry Bonds. In baseball, there's a general cycle right come
out of high school or you come out of college.

(58:15):
Come out of high school, you go right to the miners.
It takes you a couple of years, four or five years,
you work your way up into the majors. Once you're
in your in the majors four years in, you go
to arbitration. If you're good enough, you get a big deal,
You get a new deal. You last once you hit
your early thirties. Now a sudden, your production starts to fade.
You can't catch up to fastballs, you can't play a
hundred sixty two. Then all of a sudden you become

(58:38):
maybe a pinch hitter or maybe a spot reliever. And
by mid thirties only a few guys are still around.
But what steroids did in baseball was guys like Roger Clements,
guys like Barry Bonds, guys like Sammy Sosa. Guys picked
the guy they got into their mid thirties and they

(58:58):
got better instead of getting worse. And what did it do.
It caused for a backload of players who are in
the minors to never get a shot in the majors. Well,
look at the NFL right now, how olds Drew Brees.

(59:21):
And with Drew Brees playing as well as he's playing
right now, does it seem like he's gonna retire anytime soon?
And I will grant you some of this is talk
to me later on in the season when he starts
to feel the wear. But you ask guys that played
in the NFL, they'll tell you, man, I would have
kept playing forever my arm. I can still throw. We

(59:42):
have Trent Dilfern. I guarantee if I asked me like
I could still throw. Kurt Warner, I played back cart Warren.
Remember you want to come back two years ago when
Carson Palmer got hurt because he could still throw. Jeff
George did in fact come back after getting hurt. Now,
you can't touch these guys. Can't in below the knee,
can by the neck, can't drive to the ground when
they're in the pocket. They're completely protecting. They're getting rid

(01:00:04):
of it quicker than ever. And you can't touch wide
receivers after five yards down the field at all. Drew
Brees is thirty nine years old, and that is a
good thing that he's still playing. Tom Brady is in
his forties, and that is a good thing that he's
still playing. And neither of them are showing any signs
of wear and tear, but by elongating how long they're playing,

(01:00:29):
by playing for longer. Ben Roethlisberger's thirty six, and I
don't think Ben Roethlisberg is great, but why would he
stop playing? There in a place on Earth, you can
make over ten million dollars after playing. If you're a
football player, you know Philip Rivers is thirty six years old.
Philip Rivers showing signs of wear and tear. Philip Rivers
is played over two hundred started over two hundred consecutive games.

(01:00:52):
Hell Eli Manning didn't even any good, but he's thirty
seven years old still playing. Why are these guys playing
so much longer? Because you can't hit them? So the
NFL is like supply as supply and demand. The demand
for quarterbacks has never been greater, and the supply, I
do believe will increase because at the high school and
youth level, guys are playing flag football passing league more.

(01:01:15):
They're passing more in high school, whereas it used to
be three yards in a cloud of dust, and then
they get to the college and they're passing more. True,
they don't know how to read defenses. It's not as
intricated defense or as offense as they are in the NFL,
but they can throw a football. There's plenty of guys
with arm talent in college football, but there's gonna be

(01:01:37):
less jobs available, the demand will be less. Look at
teams that are gonna draft in the top ten of
the draft if the draft were today. Colts they need
a quarterback, Negatory, Bills, Jets they both have rookie quarterbacks,
all right, Broncos, I think they need a quote back.

(01:02:00):
But the case Keenum, that's a two year deal. Raiders nope,
Texans nope, Titans nope, Eagles nope. Cowboys. I think they should,
but I think that kind of committed to deckuld give
him three years the starter like Washington Nope, Detroit, uh,

(01:02:22):
Minnesota no chance, Green Bay zero chance. Chicago and Trabisky.
They're actually in first place and Robinsky is only in
the second year there. Tampa maybe maybe if Jamis doesn't,
but he's still got another year guaranteed money at twenty millions.
So no Atlanta, no Carolina, no New Orleans, no l A,
no Seattle, no Arizona, no San Francisco. No, there's no jobs.

(01:02:49):
There's no jobs. It's a dramatic change in the league
that no one's paying attention to until this very moment.
I'm not saying these guys staying around are a bad thing,
but to every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction, right,

(01:03:12):
Isn't that what in that causing effect. The longer quarterbacks
play star quarterbacks play in the NFL, the fewer jobs
there are for young quarterbacks. Now, maybe that makes them
better when they're ready. They don't start right away like
they have this year, and eventually it ends up evening out.

(01:03:33):
We have depth the quarterback position, something we have not had.
But you're also gonna have a backlog, and it's going
to decrease the value of early draft pick quarterbacks because
nothing was as golden as drafting a guy early and
getting a franchise quarterback under the rookie tag. But now

(01:03:53):
you're like, look, there's not that much demand and there's
more supply than ever. Think about that for a second.
I think the Dolphins should be in the market, but
they're not totally convinced. We'll see how it ends that
would be the only team in the ANFC East. People

(01:04:17):
thought any they should get rid of Andy Dalton Cincinnati
there four and one. Maybe Big Ben retires, but it
sure doesn't feel like it might not be a new
quarterback coming into the NFC North NFC South. I mean,
I don't love Blake Bortles, but it did take the
NFC Championship game. He played great couple of weeks ago

(01:04:38):
against against New England, and he signed new contract. Oakland's
not in the market, can't city, clearly not in the market.
Chargers want a guy who's an air apparent, but I'm
not going to spend the first round pick, and the
Broncos maybe like there just aren't that many jobs because
guys are playing so much longer. We'll get to Janna

(01:05:03):
Jeremiah in moments. Get his thoughts on Drew Brees record
setting night, give him, give us some context on how
he looks at Drew Brees as a former personnel guy.
But first let's get you an update Isaac Lowan crow
when he got Doug The Jacksonville Jaguars today signed veteran
free agent running back Jamal Charles to a one year
deal in an effort to stabilize their banged up backfield.
Letard four Nette out and definitely with a hamstring injury,

(01:05:26):
t J Yelled in it dealing with an ankle injury,
and number three running back Corey grant On injured reserve
with a foot injury. Charles is a four time Pro
bowler who spent last season with the Denver Broncos. The
first place Cincinnati Bengals have just waved running back Thomas Rawls.
NFL media reports Washington running back Adrian Peterson as a
strange shoulder, but it's not expected to keep him from playing,

(01:05:47):
and longtime Chargers owner Alex Spanos has passed away at
the age of nine five. Spanos bought the Chargers in
four and then turned over day to day management of
the team to his son, Dean In Spanos. In NBA,
Lakers head coach Luke Walton said a short time ago
that Lonzo Ball will make his preseason debut tomorrow against

(01:06:09):
the Golden State Warriors. Balls coming off of offseason knee
surgery and last appeared in the game back on March. Finally,
in baseball tonight at eight oh seven Eastern Game four
of the American League Division Series with the Boston Red
Sox holding a two games to one lead over the Yankees.
Dug back to you, all right, let's welcome in Daniel Jeremiah.
He joins us in the Doug Gotlap Show on Fox

(01:06:30):
Sports Radio. I offered up kind of a future vision
of the NFL, which I don't know how many people
have paid attention to. You tell me if you want
poke holes in it. Fine, Um, Look, we've clearly created
a passing league right where we want to protect almost
bubble boys what you call these quarterbacks, where you can't
touch him. And I think if you asked a lot
of these former quarterbacks be like, dude, I'd still be playing.
I would have played till I'm forty. I just you know,

(01:06:53):
Kurt Warner his career was ended by a hit. You know,
Brett fav got hit so badly against New Orleans in
that NFC championship game that I know we came back
the next year, but he didn't want to. Um. Troy
Aikman concussions and in his career. But while elongating so
many of these players career, at some point we're gonna
have a backlog of young quarterbacks coming in the league.

(01:07:14):
And I think that starts this year because there aren't
that many jobs available. Is that a crazy take to have? Well,
I think when you look at it on the surface
and look at the age of the starters out there,
I think you might say, there you might not be
a ton of jobs. But there's also when you have
a regime change, they're not married to those quarterbacks and
you know, to me, let's say, let's just keep an

(01:07:34):
eye and see what happens in Tennessee and how well
Marcus Mariotta plays throughout the year. Um, you know, maybe
that's a new regime there. They could want to get
a different guy in there. So there's guys like that.
I think. You know, obviously when they when Tampa took
Jameis Winston, it's still that they still have the same
group there. But um, he wouldn't be shocked if they
were picking up high if they ended up jumping back
into the quarterback market. So there's some of those teams

(01:07:56):
like that. I don't think people are really looking at
um that the end up being surprised teams to go
out there and get another quarterback. Dana Jeremiah joining us
on The Doug Gotlip Show on Fox Sports Radio. Drew Brees.
How would you, as a as a professional player evaluator,
both in the NFL front offices and now working for
the NFL Network, how would you contextualize Drew Brees. I

(01:08:19):
think he's he's the you know, you talking about what
he did on the field, but to me, he's the
standard and he's he's really been a teaching tool for
quarterbacks all around the NFL. And just in terms of preparation. Uh,
that's what his reputation is inside the league. And and
guys like Chase Daniel that have been around him and
shared that information with Alex to share that information with Mahomes.

(01:08:40):
You look at the Chase Daniel share that information with
Carson Wentz. I mean, it's kind of spider spider Web.
It's way through the league. Just in terms of how
Drew prepares, um, he just made it. He's he's taken
to hold another level with that. And then when you
look at where he's done on the field. The best
way I describe him as we have there's there's quarterbacks
in the NFL that are explosive, you know, explosive arms,

(01:09:01):
big plays. There's quarterbacks that are efficient. Uh. And even
though Drew didn't have a big arm. He still generates
explosive plays while being extremely efficient. He's combined the two
as well. It's just about anybody that's ever played the game.
How much does he helped by Peyton and playing in
the Dome? Well, I mean definitely, I think it's helped
him playing in the Dome. I think that was a
big reason that wasn't really talked about when Kirk Cousins

(01:09:23):
was making his decision. He wanted to go play inside. Um,
that was a big factor. So no, it definitely does
help him. And he's had the same play car and
run that same system forever. Uh, no doubt. But I mean, look,
he he makes the whole thing go. Would he have
duplicated that success at every other team in the NFL?
Probably not, But he has still been at a very
very high level for a very long time. Daniel Jeremiah

(01:09:45):
joining us in the Doug Gotlip Show, Fox Sports Radio.
Let's let's start with the team you cover for a
living outside of the NFL network, the Chargers. That was
a thumping after kind of another slow start. Nothing to
keep the field goal first drive, but you know, another
mis kick. It does make you think maybe the Google
kicking issues aren't solved, but it does feel like the Chargers,

(01:10:06):
even without Joey Bosa, is starting to find their footing
and that was man they weren't. They're missing their starting
tackles and they still dominated the game. Uh Am, I
wrong to think the Chargers are a team that are
playing better than their record would lead you to believe. Yeah.
I mean when you're winning games with two undrafted tackles,
one a second year player, the other one a rookie
from Grambling and you go out there and thoroughly dominated

(01:10:27):
divisional team, Um, now, I give you some encouragement there.
The Niners game was probably closer than it should have been,
but now they've put two wins together. And when you
look at the schedule, I mean, Cleveland's obviously not a
cupcake the way they're playing right now, but they're coming
off back to back over time games. You could see
a little bit of a little bit of wear and
tear there on them. And then you play the Titans
in London, and then it's the Seahawks and the Raiders

(01:10:49):
and the Broncos. So uh followed by the Cardinals when
you just look at the schedule, so they should be
able to rip off some wins here, and at some
point in time they are going to get Joey Bosa back,
and uh, you know, hey, if you could be if
you could be five and three, maybe even you know,
six and two when you look at the schedule and
then you bring back your best defensive player, arguably the
best player on your team. Uh, it's even pretty good

(01:11:09):
shape there. I tend to agree. What about the Raiders,
how much of these issues fall on the shoulders of
Derek Carr. They're a bad team, man, Uh, They're just
a they're a bad football team. Now, Derek did not
play well the other day. Um, you know, one of
one of the one of the critiques I've had there,
and and it just is what it appears like when
you're watching the tape. He's he's a he's a read

(01:11:31):
load to high guy. So if there's a if there's
a completion there, he's gonna take it right now. Where
there's been some other opportunities deeper down the field, if
he wanted them and just would read high to low,
he he'd get some more opportunities deep down the field.
But it's far from being uh you know, his fault
for where they are. It's it is, and it's been reference.
It is one of these slowest defenses I've ever seen,
when you can just pitch the ball out to Austin

(01:11:52):
Ekeler and try and save a play after a fumbled
snap and he goes forty five yards based on one
cut and two guys into each other, and there was
a house of cards defense. No, there's nobody, there's no
speed in pursuit. There's nobody that threatens you up front
on the defensive line. You can get your backs on
their linebackers and they have nobody that can run at
the back end, so they they have wholesale changes needed

(01:12:14):
on the back on that defense. Okay, how much it
does mackenzie, how much of that is Gruden? Well, I
mean the roster has been so churned and so turned
over by Gruden. I mean, I think it's you could
say there's blame to go around there. There's plenty of
miss picks, you know, the Obi Melon fon Wus and
all that. But you know, hey, Khalil mack was a
home run. Um. You know that makes a difference, no

(01:12:35):
question with him there. I think it's just in that
transition period of getting to the guys that Gruden wants.
I just don't understand why they don't go ahead and
let Reggie leave. Obviously doesn't have any more juice in
the organization with John Group's organization now, and he wants
try and change this roster and fit what he does.
So just cut Reggie loose and let him go somewhere else.
I would guess it's money always comes down to money. Donna. Yeah, well,

(01:12:56):
I mean that that's the theory. That's the working theory
for sure. I don't. I don't. I think that's a
pretty good, pretty good theory. If you know anything about
the Raiders. Daniel Jeremiah, he knows things about all NFL teams.
He joins us on the Doug got Live show on
Fox Sports Radio. I want to freak out about the Eagles.
The problem is, I look at their division. I'm like, Cowboys,
not impressive. Giants seem to be a dumpster fire, even

(01:13:18):
though they they they easily could have won that game
in Carolina, and and the Redskins had like a week
and a half off and they got their asses kicked
last night in New Orleans. I think, you know, it's
like I'm gonna end up thinking the Eagles are gonna
win that division anyway, even though they haven't been very good. Yeah,
it looks like a nine and seven, you know, it
might get it done in that division this year. Uh.

(01:13:40):
And to me, the Eagles don't have a figured out
right now. They have a spark in one thing. You
have a work in that organization and been around Howard Roseman.
He's not afraid to go make a move and take
a chance. I know, I saw there's some reports out
there talking about the Shawn McCoy potentially coming back. Uh,
they'll do something. I would be shocked if within the
next two weeks he doesn't add somebody to that roster
via trade to just try and provide some spark and

(01:14:02):
provide a little juice here to this team as they
continue to, you know, get some other guys back healthy.
Getting Darren Scrolls and Corey Clement back will help the offense.
But they've got to play better upfront on the offensive line.
They're dropping passes, they're giving up chunk plays on defense.
So they've got a whole host of issues. Just fortunately
they find themselves in the right division this year, they're
gonna have time to figure it out. When you when

(01:14:23):
when you watch um the the Dallas Cowboy. Assume me
when you watched that, when you heard the New York
Giants Odell Beckham Jr. Have that interview, that interview before
they ever played the game, And he said, and the
trigger words I heard everybodys talking about the Eli Manning thing.
I wouldn't say anything about Eli Manning. Never come out
of Eli Manning. But he said energy, we don't. We

(01:14:45):
don't have the energy we need. That that's talking about
the coaching staff not getting guys to play hard. He
talked about heart, like I don't talk about your teammates
heart and he didn't say teammates heard, but we need
to play with more heart saying that's saying we don't
play with hard. And then he talked about the scheme
coach staff, like, look that your head coach is an
offensive guru, a play caller. I can't think of a

(01:15:06):
worse way to be honest than what Odell Beckham Jr. Did.
But you've been in NFL free A offices he is,
He's like, look, we actually played better because of it.
What do you what's your take? Well, it was a
pretty thorough hit list. Um, that's for sure. The only
person that was missing from the hit list was himself.
And that's the only that's the only problem I had

(01:15:27):
with it. And everybody said, you know, look, you should
have done that. Privately, I get that. Um My only
thing is, look, I just think you get more credibility
when you say, hey, look there's things I need to
do better. I can get better, you know, I look,
I've dropped the ball here there. I need to be
a little more efficient, more crisp as a route runner.
I can help out Eli a little bit more than
I have been. But you know, either this guy needs

(01:15:47):
to do that, the other guy needs to do this.
I just think when you don't ever include yourself in
the criticism of of everybody else around you, I think
you lose some of this thing and some of the
credibility of what you're saying. The Patriots now have time
for pair for the Kansas City Chiefs, and I want
to say that that Tyner pair is great for Bell Belichick,
but I just haven't seen the speed in their defense

(01:16:08):
to keep up with the speed of Kansas City. Nor
has there been a pass rust which, uh, you know,
the last two games haven't been the best for Pat Mahomes,
and they still won the game and still still won
the games. What are your thoughts early thoughts Pats Chiefs
this week? Well, I mean, obviously we are even toss
up game. To beat the Chiefs, you got to be

(01:16:29):
able to do a couple of things now. I think offensively,
and I know the Chiefs defense played better last week,
but the Patriots are gonna move the ball offensively, They're
gonna score points, so they'll take care of that. I think. Defensively,
what they're gonna do, you're gonna I'm gonna be very
surprised if they don't try and make homes just play
a very patient game and just you know, force him
to take the layups and and just try and keep

(01:16:50):
everything in front, rally and tackle, and the game will
be decided on red zone defense. The Chiefs will move
the ball up and down the field between the twenties
and the pay which are gonna try and win the
football game, to hold them to threes once they get
down there. So that to me is the philosophy. You
trade seven for threes, that's the way you try and
get that done. And I'll be surprised. Look, if the

(01:17:10):
Chiefs win, I won't be surprised, but if they're able
to generate a ton of big plays, I will be surprised.
I just don't think Bill belichickill let that happened. Daniel

Gotland Show on Fox Sport Tradeo. It feels like Derek
Carr regressed yesterday. Am I wrong? Three end zone interception
is three too many? One the lot? Like, if you
play a season and you throw one interception and them
that's a lot, He's throw him three. I think that's
the biggest issue. Uh, he's a very very gifted passer.

(01:18:13):
I kind of like what they're trying to do offensively. Um,
but it seems I think Gruden mentioned this about the
try too hard. It seems like there's some anxiety in
his game. You look at the interceptions he's thrown, You
look at the first down interceptions he's thrown, You look
at kind of the situations when they haven't been able

(01:18:33):
to put points on the board, and it appears to
me if there's a little anxiety in his game. Very correctible,
I think he will. He's very talented player, but so
far this season, it has not been his best football,
and especially in critical moments. If you missed anything from

(01:19:37):
for the ones who get it done. Clay Travis had
this to say about last night's Drew Brees moment in celebration.
It feels like the NFL just screws a lot of
stuff up. They had, first of all, a paper certificate
for him. I don't know where the paper certificate came from,
but it was like Drew Brees just got an honorable
mention at the high school or middle school science fair.

(01:20:00):
And as he's coming off the field and this is
this is pretty crazy. They have the guy there in
the gloves. You know, first of all, do you really
need to be in the gloves? Is is the football
which has just been handled by a bunch of different
football players and everyone else who was who is involved
in the game. Does the guy really need to have
white gloves on to take the football from Drew Brees?

(01:20:22):
I thought that was a little bit much, and then
Drew Brees the NFL flags him for his celebration penalty.
If that's not the most NFL thing imaginable, that Drew
Brees has just set the all time passing record, the
NFL has sent a guy there in white gloves. They've
got a certificate for him, the official on the field

(01:20:42):
gives it to him, they flag him for a celebration penalty.
The only thing worst would be at The n c
A also said it was a violation of n A
rules and New Orleans was put on probation, right, like,
that's the only thing even more bureaucratic. Yeah, I don't.
I just think you're trying too hard, right, you're trying

(01:21:05):
too hard. Now, it was helped by the fact that
it was a touchdown, that it wasn't in the middle
of the game, that it was the first play, first
past completed, like all those things were great. But yeah,
it just seemed like a hodgepodge of ideas like, oh,
let's give him a certificate. Oh, let's let's have some
official with the gloves get the football, Let's have Big

(01:21:26):
Dave Baker come down and his kids come down, and
let's forget to tell the officials on the field exactly
what we're doing. This is what happens when everybody tries
to do their job but nobody actually communicates, right, like
the all thing has to kind of work together, and
not letting the officials in on it is as big
a po Yes, that one was an abject disaster. I

(01:21:49):
will tell you that. Um. I don't think the NFL
meant anything by it. I think part of it was
the Pro Football Hall of Fame, which is not actually
the NFL, and Dave Bicker trying to make it a
bigger deal. But it did seem kind of high schoolish.

I was thinking, nobody's gonna pick the Redskins, right, Ramos,
would you pick the Redskins? I would not have Would
you pick the Redskins? Now? I would have gone Saints
last night. Yeah, here's what I don't get about baseball.
I love Red Sox Yankees, but I didn't watch an

(01:22:35):
any of the Red Sox Yankees because I'm watching football,
you know, and it's two teams. I don't really care.
I don't care about the Redskins for the Saints, like
I'll watch it because my job. But it's also that's
what most of America did, and I do. I enjoy
the fact that baseball unlike the NBA, Like, let's get
this series moving. So the guys can't pitch their best

(01:22:57):
pictures every single day. But at what point in time
are they going to realize they need to end their
regular season earlier so they're not competing against football or
playing only playoff games in the middle of the week.
Speaking of which, can the Yankees come back after getting
blasted last night by the Boston Red Sox the only
game down two games to one, but it's the best

of five series. A. J. Praczynski joins us Next and

Yankees Red Sox, or we're told, Yankees Red Sox is
supposed to be awesome. Here's the only problem. Here's the
only problem. The games themselves. There's been three games. One
was super interesting, nail biding in fact, and wasn't it over?

(01:24:28):
Wasn't over until the final out in Boston Game one.
But the other two are relative well. Game two is
a relative blowout. In Game three was an absolute annihilation
of the Yankees. And now the Yankees are one loss
away from going home, and the Red Sox are one
win away from going to the a LCS. Meanwhile, Cubs fishing,

(01:24:52):
Rockies fishing, and um now the Atlanta Braves, who were
a little bit earlier to the party than most people expect.
I think most people expected the Braves over the next
couple of years to be really good, but not this quickly.
Freddie Freeman is the veteran led them. But now they're home,
So we got we have Milwaukee and the Dodgers. That's

(01:25:18):
this Friday from Milwaukee from Miller Park. Pregame is at
seven Eastern, game time eight Eastern. That coverage on Fox
Sports One. And we still have Game four. Game four
coming up tonight from Yankee Stadium could be the last
game for the Yankees this season, and we'll see what happens.
Let's catch catch up with A. J. Prazynski, who has

(01:25:38):
a World Series Championship ring to his name back when
he broke the streak with the Chicago White Sox. Of course,
part of our Fox Sports team covering the NLCS. A J.
What do you make of the utter and complete dismantling
of the Yankees last night at the stadium? It was
one game. Does anyone remember when the Yankees destroyed the
Red Sox two before they came back from down three oh?

(01:26:02):
Before the Red Sox came back down from three? Oh?
I don't think so. So there was one game in
Rock Hole. Congratulations on the cycle, but you gotta win
one more. Okay. So, if if you're Aaron Boone, what
do you do? You start over? You hope CC pitch
is great. You have him on a short leash and
you have everybody ready to go. Uh, and you hope

(01:26:22):
that your players come and play at Yankee Stadium. No
one wants to go home in their home park, and
you hope they come to play, and they hope they
get a little bit better pitching from their starter. Severino
was okay for a couple innings, and they got to him,
and then the people that came in, Lancelin, etcetera. They
just had a hard time throwing it over the plate.
And then once he gets to Austin Roman pitch and
know you're in trouble. Help me out with with c. C.

(01:26:44):
You know, most of us, I think our image of
most of our image of CC is back with the Brewers,
are back with the Indians, are early on with the Yankees.
Give me c. C. Sabathia two thousand eighteen is what
is a picture. He's a cutter throwing machine is what
he is now. Cutters and angels, that's what he does.
He throws cutters into right e's and he sinks it
into lefty's and then backs it up with changeups and

(01:27:06):
big situations. But look for cutters in on right. He's
backdoor cutters, which means a cutter that starts off the
play to the right handed hitters of the Red Sox
comes back to the outside corner and he in big situations,
it's gonna be a cutter change. People. Remember, CEC is
a power guy, big, big guy, power throwing. He didn't
have anymore. He pitches and he's one of the few

(01:27:26):
guys that was able to reinvent himself. He's done a
great job and CEC, no one's pitched him more big
games and CC maybe John Small's elimination games. That CC's
the guy and he's not gonna be afraid of the moment,
so is he. Eddie Harris does he got chrisco somewhere
on the jersey. I don't know about that. I mean CC,
CC's got the tricks, but I wouldn't go that far.
He didn't throw like the the spitball he throws. I

(01:27:47):
mean he throws a true nasty cutter. His slider used
to be really good and it's kind of evolved into
a Andy Pettit style al lighter style cutter. And on
these right hes and one thing I will say, I
remember when I used to face CC, I would dive
out over the plate. I was a left tana hitter
and I knew he'd never pitch in and he's evolved.
He's stone. He throws sinkers in on these lefties, man,
and that is a tough pitch, left on left to
stay on and do any damage on it? All? Right,

(01:28:08):
what about Rick Porcello? Porcello part of that? I like
to draw two thousand thirteen U Detroit Tigers. They're like
the Oklahoma City Thunder when they reached the finals, right, Like,
if you look at that roster, you're like, oh my god,
how did they not win not just one, but multiple
World Series? But Rick Porcello is not the guy. Even
he used to be a lot of strikeouts This year, right,

(01:28:29):
he did. I think he struck out a hundred and
nineties this year. How good is Rick Porcello going in
to this matchup? H But they like his chances, I think.
I think that's one of the things. The Yankees are
right hand dominant, obviously with their line up of Sanchez
and Judge and Stanton and all these big boppers that
are right handed. So that's one of the reasons they
wanted him to start in Yankee Stadium and not in Fenway.

(01:28:50):
So he's right handed. That helps, and his team must
really love playing for him because this guy, because the
r A has never been that fabulous. But man, they
win a lot of games for this guy, so his
teammates must love him out there. They score are ton
of runs for him. You say that's luck or whatever,
but there are certain times where you try to might
try a little bit harder scorpy like a guy I
don't know, Um, but he's good. I mean, his his
strike ups are up, he's stowing more for seamers. Again,

(01:29:10):
he's kind of evolved a little bit. When he first
came up, he was a sinker, changeup guy, and now
he's developed a four seemer that gets guys off the
low ball and he can throw. He's got a good
breaking ball that he throws. So the Red Sox liked
their chances, and and so do I want and the
Red Sox win this series. I heard you talking about
who's left. Well, we have the four best teams, the
teams that should be here left for the final four.
If the Red Sox win, no question, as as we

(01:29:33):
do the post mortem with the Cubs. Um. I remember
when they won the World Series two years ago, people
were claiming like this is the beginning of a dynasty
and they had, you know, the hangover they you know,
they obviously had to change closers. You know, they bring
in Wade Davis, like, they tried a bunch of things
and it didn't work. Now where two years removed from it,

(01:29:53):
what do you think the Cubs do in this upcoming
offseason to get them back on track. Well, they need pitching,
no doubt. We saw it in the playoffs. He saw it. Well,
I shouldn't say playoffs. He saw it in there too,
wild wild Card in the game on two runs though
a two runs in twenty two innings. I know, well
Bryant was hurt. That hurts him. Um, I don't see
Daniel Murphy coming back. He's a free agent. They need

(01:30:15):
Wilson and Turrist to hit. This guy was a guy
that I remember reading before the season that this guy
said he was the best catcher in baseball. Well, you know,
to fifty with nine and forty five or fifty whatever
it was, that doesn't put you in that elite best
catcher in baseball category. So he's got a hit. Um,
Bryant's gotta come back healthy. But Bias had a great year.
But if you look at his number down the stretch,
he kind of wilted a little bit once people started

(01:30:37):
taking notice. When it came to September, Rizzo was great
as he's been for for years now. Jason Heyward didn't
hit for the power they expected. They got some holes
in that line up. I think they're pitchable, but when
they're all right there, they're probably one through the best
team in the National League. Clayton Kershaw is gonna go
Friday Night, A J. Persinski joining us in the Doug
Gottlips Show MLB analysts for Fox's coverage of the NLCS

(01:31:00):
Friday from Milwaukee. Pregame at seven, game time eight. All
these times are Eastern time, Miller Park. Clayton Kershaw is
gonna get the start for the Dodgers, So what's what shape?
Was it? Just, oh, hey, we'll start him Game two
in the DS, just to kind of tweak him, and
now we'll start him Game one in the CS. I
don't get it. I mean, I know Clayton Kershaw said
he was okay with it, but were you pitch great

(01:31:22):
in Game one for him against Atlanta? And I know
why they did it. They knew they could bounce it
back on regular rest even if you pitch game too
to be ready for Game five. But he's still Clayton Kershaw.
He still has that aura, and he's done pretty well
in the playoffs except for against the St. Louis Cardinals.
So if I'm the Dodgers, yeah, you want him in
game one. You want him as much as as many
times in the series as possible. But man, it's hard
to look at your ace and you in the face

(01:31:43):
of your franchise and time you're not pitching Game one.
It's like it's it would be like going to the
Bulls in the nineties and being like, Hey, Michael Jordan,
guess what you're not You're not playing or you're not
starting this game Game seven for us against whoever we're playing.
It's just it's a weird situation. Would it worked out
for Dave Roberts? And I also think it helped that
the Braves look like they were a little bit overmatching
that series. Yeah, they absolutely do. Who's Milwaukee? I've only

(01:32:04):
seen it where they haven't decided who they're going to start.
Who do you think they should start? Uh? Whoever Craig
Council wants to. I mean, if you get hater to
throw nine innings. You do that. That That guy is unbelievable.
That guy is so good. Um, I don't know they
started game one. They started Brandon Woodroff in Game one
against the Rockies and gave him three innings with the
off days. It was interesting talking to Craig Council. I'm

(01:32:25):
not a big believer in the opener over the long
haul hundred sixty two games, but in these short series,
Craig Council three believes that it will work, and it
worked against the Rockies. Now, the Rockies weren't swinging the
bat very well, but two runs in three games and
two hitters parks in Milwaukee and Colorado. And I've never
seen a team in a rush to get to two
kneeble to hate her to these guys. Story to Jeffers

(01:32:46):
in the bullpen, like the brewerser ma and they just
it was like counting outs. You have like a tally
on your score book, and you were like, all right,
they get twelve outs, fifteen outs, you know, here they come,
here they come. And as soon as it happened, it
was lights out for the Rockies. And do you feel
like I feel like the ALCS is gonna be the
longest series ever, in terms of the games themselves, I mean,
you got the hitting that they have on both sides

(01:33:06):
is so ridiculous, like just it's ridiculous. I mean I think, yeah, yes, yes, yes,
I mean look, balls fly out of Boston, we know, uh.
And then when that dome is closed and it gets
it gets hot and sweaty in there because all those
fans going crazy. We saw what happened the World Series
last year. I just like, I feel like it's gonna

(01:33:26):
be one of those, don't be I wouldn't be surprised.
There are a couple of games in which both teams
scored double ditchits. Is that insane? Even though you have
incredible name pitching, is that an insane uh thought to have? No,
because they also think you have holes in the bullpence. Yeah,
the same same thing. We saw Game one the Yankees
Red Sox. They couldn't get the ball to Craig Kimber
and they almost blew that game. And they saw in

(01:33:47):
Game two the starters struggle, price struggling, and the bullpen
came in for the Red Sox and wham, a bunch
of runs for the Yankees. So it's gonna come down
like it always does the starting pitching, And for me
Red Sox asked, he as if the Red Sox do win,
who can get the ball to their closer efficiently without
giving up in between runs? And those teams, those lineups
are stacked. I love Alex Bragnant. I mean he just
keeps talking and just keeps hitting. I mean this guy,

(01:34:09):
him and Springer like the new Mr. October, they hit
home runs. It seems like every single game they get
big hits. Krea hasn't founded, but he hit a home
run off Brad Hand three oh, which is huge. By Hinch,
these two lineups are unbelievably deep, unbelievably talented. We're gonna
see home runs and if you like offense, I think
that's a series to watch. All right, let's circle back
around to tonight at the stadium. I know you think

(01:34:30):
it it favors the Red Sox, and I think anybody
would probably agree with you, especially with your depth of
baseball knowledge. But look, in order to win, you gotta
close out the Yankees in the stadium, or you can
close out to the Yankees in your own park. And
Craig Kimberle, though we did close out Game one, it
was after giving up a home run to Aaron Judge.
How confident are you in Kimberl's ability at on this stage.

(01:34:51):
If I'm Alex Cora and he knows this team way
a better than I do. If I can get Craig
Kimberle in there to get a six out save, I
do it. You try to get him the ball as
fast as possible. Like I said, with the Brewers, they're
counting down out. So with the Red Sox are trying
to figure out a way to get Craig Kimberroll the ball.
If it goes for Cello, Kimberroll for Cello gives them seven,
and Kimberroll can do the eighth and night they're all four.
Because in the American League, don't have to worry about

(01:35:12):
the picture hitting, you don't have to worry about double switches.
You can make that change anytime you want. And Alex
cor cannot wait to get the ball to Craig Kimberall.
He he struggled a little bit this year. He was
a little bit down from his but his numbers for
his career were so ridiculous. I mean, he was video
game numbers for years and years, so a little bit
of a downtacking Craig Kimberrill still better in baseball. Hey,

(01:35:32):
j great stuff. Look forward to seeing on TV set
on Friday from Milwaukee. Thanks much for our guest on
Fox Sports Radio. No problem, Dugan. By the way, that
Red River shootout you're talking about, Yeah, that's tough, man.
It's a Big twelve. Nobody plays defense in that league.
You should know that. Yeah, I know, it's too it's
too hand touched. It's I've always said this about the
Big Twelve. It's not the best league in the country,
but it is the most fun to watch. It is.
I feel like, oh, offense and then it will greer

(01:35:54):
and all those guys. They can sling it. They can
sling it. Thanks so much. J. A. J. Presnski joining
us on the Doug Gottlie Show coming up next. You're
gonna love this. Graham Gonno kicked a six, an NFL
record tying sixty three yard field goal. It is not
the longest of his career. What's the longest of his career?
I'll ask him next. Fox Sports Radio has the best

You guys want to check in with the hero, football hero? Right,
football hero. He's the football hero in Carolina over the weekend.
His name is Graham. You know, all he did was
kick a sixty three yard field goal. He kicked it.

(01:36:59):
What's the in the parking lot? At the time, it
felt like it was so far as from the parking
lot against the New York Giants. He joins us here
on the Doug Gatlins Show on Fox Sports Radio. Graham,
thanks so much for taking time. Um, I gotta ask you.
It's a couple of days later, what's it feel like
driving around town? Because as you know, you know, like
you can be the goat one day missing a field
goal or an extra point than the hero the next.
What's the last couple of days been, Like, Yeah, I've

(01:37:21):
been both of those and Uh, I'd definitely rather be
the hero. But the last couple of days been good,
been very busy. Um, had a lot of a lot
of interviews and stuff, a lot of messages on my phone.
I think I still have about two d and fifty
texts to respond to it. I'm I'm trying my best,
but um, it's been fun. You know. Uh, I'm a
father of three, so um, you know, they're my wife

(01:37:43):
and them are the most important things in my life.
And and then uh I try to take care of
the rest after that. But yeah, it's definitely been a whirlwind.
All right. I want to talk a little b about
your life story because it's an interesting one. Uh. Your
dad was in the in the service. That's why you're
born in Scotland. Came over here when you're very little,
and I mean you kicked in high school. You kicked
at a young age. When was the first When did

(01:38:04):
you become a kicker? Like people don't go up going
like you know I'm gonna be I'm gonna be a kicker.
When did it start for you? Man? I never wanted
to play football growing up. As a matter of fact,
the I wanted to play for the either the Scottish
or the U S national team for soccer, and uh,
my freshman year of high school went out for the
summer soccer program and I found out that the uh
they didn't have enough boys and to like make up

(01:38:26):
a team for it. So um, one of my buddies
asked if I wanted to try kicking a football, and
I gave it a shot, and I think I was
hitting about forty fifty field goals, and I mean I
had I hardly watched any football, so I didn't know
if that was good or not. But the coach signed
me up and and threw some huge shoulder pads on me,
and I've been doing it ever since. Yeah. Pensacola, Florida, Right,
that's uh, it's kind of is that redneck Rivieria? Do

(01:38:48):
you have to go over to Deston to be considered
red in riviera? I think we got some. We got
some rednecks down from from some of my best friends.
But have you ever been to the mullet? Have you
ever been to the mullet toss in floor Obama? I haven't.
I haven't been there for that, I've I've definitely witnessed
a lot of mullet tosses, but I haven't haven't been
to that one over there. Tell me about the sixty
four yard or you're kicked in high school your senior year,

(01:39:09):
didn't kick a sixty four yard in a game? Yep,
we had a um we called it the Hill Mary
field goal. I kicked sixty four or sixty five, and
I think we had a seventy one yard or um
negated by a penalty. Who whoa whoa wait wait, wait,
hold on, hold on, wait wait seventy one yard so
we're we're in the field. I'm trying. I'm doing the
math here. Seventy one so it's uh it's the other
Uh shoot, I'm seven yards back thirty so you're on

(01:39:33):
your own thirty nine yard line. Yep, we're on our
own thirty nine. So in Florida it's the end zones
touchback to our coach was like, you know what, we
might as well give it a shot, and uh we
we made a few of them. I think I missed,
you know, four or five of them, but um, it
was worth a shot. Okay, So seventy seventy one yard
field goal? Who is it? Who is it against? You
were Taft high school? I think what man, do you

(01:39:54):
do you remember who's against? Yeah, we went, Um, let's see,
I think we were playing Woodham High School. The coach is, uh,
the referees thought we were plunning, so they didn't They
didn't make it back there in time, so they were
they were sprinting back when they found out we were kicking.
And then uh, the sixty five yard or was against
Fort Walton Beach hid Glenn Coffee was the running back there.

(01:40:15):
I don't know if you'll remember, of course in Alabama
absolutely yeah, and then um, I think he rushed for
like three yards on us that game, so that that
kick put us up ten to seven. They ended up
blowing us out. But um, that was a fun one
as well. Okay, so what what is it now? And
what people don't know about you? Also in like an
all state athlete too, you're a sprinter like you're you're

(01:40:35):
you're tremendous high school athlete. You weren't just like some
some chubby kid who came out and toe kicked the
ball like you could. You could do a lot of
But what's the secret? How are you able to generate
that sort of power outside of the fact that you're
a native soccer player, like, what's what's the secret? Do
you know what? Um, I gotta give all that to God.
I think it's just a god given talent. Um. Ever

(01:40:56):
since I was a kid, I've just always been able
to kick a ball along the ways. And I remember
the first time I realized I was trying out for
a team. I think I was ten or eleven years old,
and nobody could kick the corner ticks in like in
the air, and I was doing it with these and
I think that's the first time I really realized, well,
you know, maybe I can kind of have something here.
And and it's always been fun to me. My brothers

(01:41:17):
played soccer growing up, and I always wanted to be
like them. So, um, I think it's just come natural. Yeah,
definitely a blessing and something that, uh, something that I
enjoyed doing. Graham, you know, joining us sixty three yard
field goal record tiring sixty three yard field goal for
the Carolina Panthers they get the win over the Giants.
On Sunday, he joined us on The Doug Gotlip Show
on Fox Sports. TRADEO. I think everybody remembers you at

(01:41:39):
Florida State obviously win the Grows Award. But what those
of us who know about Florida State football re member
is before I think you were among the first. Like
if if Coach Bowden had you, right, coach Bowden had
you for ten years, he probably wins three or four
more championships because Florida State forever was known as wide right.

(01:41:59):
You when you got to Florida State, there's a lot
of pressure to be one of the guys that finally
makes the kicks. What was that like for you? You
know what? That's that's actually the reason I chose to
go to Florida State. Um, I was a punner there
for three years, but my dream was to be a
field goal kicker and I wanted you know, I grew
up watching those games and I was like, you know what,
if I ever get the chance, I want to kind

(01:42:20):
of help get rid of that, um, that stigma of
you know, the wide right, wide left and everybody making
fun of Florida State kickers. So before me, you know,
there's a lot of great ones. Uh. The kicker that
was there when I was the punter, he was an
All American, and you know before him, there was an
All American and then there's Janikowski before that. So they've
had a rich, you know history of kickers. It's just

(01:42:42):
they've they've missed those kicks against Miami. But yeah, that
that was definitely a factor in the you know why
I went there. And I've been surrounded by great people
in my whole life and and you know, obviously I
can't kick the ball by myself, so you know, it
takes a lot of people around me. And I've I've
been very blessed and fortunate to be around to buy
a lot of great folks that that have helped me

(01:43:03):
along the way. I was. I was talking with that
NFL GM the other day and he was telling me, like,
the weird thing about kickers are because um, you know
we're talking about Roberto Oguaia, another floor State guy, another
Gros Award winner. Of course doesn't have a job right now.
He really struggled after being a second round pick of
Tampai Buccaneers, and he's kind of bounced around. He's like,
the kickers are weird. A lot of times you're better

(01:43:23):
off getting them on their second or third team than
on their on their first team. That's what happened to you,
right Undrafted free agent went to Baltimore then you're playing
like for the Las Vegas Locomotives before you really really
stuck in the NFL. I remember with the Skins. Why
why is it that it takes kickers sometimes the team
or two before they finally stick in the league. Um,
I mean, I think there's a whole lot of things

(01:43:44):
that factor into that. Me personally, the last time, you know,
before my senior year in college. The last time I
kicked was in high school. And uh so, you know,
it was a lot of learning I had to I
had to learn a lot of things about kicking and
especially playing in the uh in the n SEE East,
it was it was pretty tough. You know, we had
some pretty tough conditions up there, and uh so, I

(01:44:05):
think it was a big learning experience for me. And
you know, I think I had kind of had it
figured out by the time the Redskins had let me go.
I want to say, I made like thirteen in my
last fourteen with a block or something. Um But you
know what, I'm thankful for that opportunity I had up there,
and I learned a lot even though I had had
a lot of tough times. Um. You know what, I

(01:44:26):
think it helped mold me into the the kicker I
am today and um, I mean it's funny you look
at Justin Tucker. I mean he's arguably the best kicker
in the game and he goes undrafted, so you never
really know. Um, I hope we had Roberto here on
practice squad last year, and uh, I think he's gonna
be great. I think if if another team gives him
a shot, I think he's gonna do really well. And
I was I was impressed by him. Graham gone joining

(01:44:48):
us in the Dug Out Lip Show on Fox Sports Radio.
I want to get to the kick from Sunday in
a second. But how do you as a kicker and
one that's had success process? Like, yeah, I think he
missed one the Super Bowl? I remember wild Card last year?
You you missed, Like, I know you made a bunch
made like four, but you missed a twenty five yard
or which you feel like you could do? Eyes closed,

(01:45:08):
like what is how do you? Like? How do you do?
Do you do you try and figure out what you
did wrong? Do you? Are you a next kick guy? Like?
What's your process when you miss one? Yeah? I mean
that that was man, I was frustrating. I mean those
are ones it's sorry. Sorry, I just I want to
tell the whole story here. I'm I apologize. That's perfect. Yeah,
I mean I had to long on that game fifty

(01:45:28):
eight yards and then uh, the first drive of the game,
I missed the tent and I mean it was just
me trying to do too much. I Uh, I was thinking,
you know, it's a close one and to give me, um,
the only risk I thought that we had was it
getting blocked. So of course I tried to hit it
high and then totally just you know, don't do my
normal routine and it goes wide. So from then on,

(01:45:49):
you know, I think we had four more opportunities and
I just did the same thing. So I think in
that situation was just me trying to do too much.
And uh, you know that's I guess you started thinking
too much. But um, you know, just like the kick
the other day, I've had a lot of those learning
opportunities throughout my career, and you know, you can't really
dwell on them, but you can choose to learn from them,

(01:46:09):
and that's what I tried to do every time. I mean,
it doesn't make it any less frustrating, but um, at
the same time, you know, you can either be mentally
tough for mentally week, and you know, I choose to
be mentally tough. Graham Gono joining us on the dug
Otlip Show here on Fox Sports Radio. So you're warming
up on Sunday, you felt good from where? What was
the distance that you felt like? You told the coaching
staff you'd be good from. Um, I said, we could

(01:46:32):
probably go about fifty seven yards, you know, in uh
in a normal situation. Then they asked, you know, the
time's running down to the end, They said, where are
you good from? I said, you know, just wherever. You
got adrenaline that kicks in and you feel like you
can really hit it from anywhere. So you're you're lining up.
What is what is in fact your routine? UM? My
routine lessly I run out, you know first and uh

(01:46:55):
foremost I check out the what hash it is? I
check out the the spot on the field. You know,
depending on where you're playing, the fields are better than others.
And um, we just had new turf laid, so ours
is pretty pretty solid. And um then I give the
spot to Mike and the field goal team lines up
and and we get the ball roll. And when I'm
taking my steps back. I'll take a peek at the
play clock in pre game. I'll figure out where that's

(01:47:17):
at every time. And so it's funny. I was backing
up on that sixty three. I didn't even know how
far it was, but I look up the play clock
and the play clock says four seconds. So I was like,
all right, we gotta roll this. I started taking my
steps over and I give Mike like some pretty aggressive
nods like, hey, you know, we need to hurry this,
and uh, thankfully they snapped it with one second left

(01:47:39):
and we were able to to put it through. You
mentioned how quickly it happens. So there's this all this
discussion about freezing a kicker. Do you call it time out?
Do you not call it time out? Some teams that
the defense doesn't have a time out to call? Um,
you know, all honesty, what is it? What is the
time out? What is that? What is freezing the kicker
do for you? Um? I think it helps you prepare

(01:48:00):
more so. Uh. I guess I shouldn't say that. I
guess I should say I hate it. Some more coaches
will freeze me, But UM, I like it. You know
it gives you. Uh. I think it's as a veteran,
you know, it gives you a little bit more time
to figure out the conditions and and kind of get
more locked in. But you know, as as a young guy, um,
I think it could affect you a little bit more.
You know, you might be more prone to rush in

(01:48:21):
the kick and you know that happened to me when
I was in Washington, and um, you know you tend
to hurry up a little bit. So that's it's funny
that you know, my my previous mistakes have have actually
helped me as of late. You know, I made sure
my timing and rhythm was good the other day and
uh yeah, so you just you just want to make
sure you're you're paying attention and doing the things that

(01:48:43):
you normally do. Graham Gano joining us on the Doug
Galli Show. I saw on I think it's your Instagram page.
Should you actually have Dempsey's kickoff tea? Is it right?
I have a kickoffs? That'd be pretty cool to have
the one he used, But yeah, I have. Uh my
white celcle actually gave it to me, I think as
a Christmas present one year, and I thought it was
the cool skip that came with a picture of him

(01:49:04):
signing it and a certificate of authenticity. So I just
I've thought that's the neatest thing. I mean, it's a
small thing, but you know, obviously to a kicker, it's
it's pretty cool. It's it's really cool. Now it should
be pointing out that when Dempsey kicked his field goal,
he used he used a t right, you don't use
a tea like teeing it up. That's cheating. So you
should have the rightful record, shouldn't you. You know what,

(01:49:27):
if it wasn't cheating back, then you can't count that
as cheating. Um, you know, but uh, I think Praytor
has got that record. He smoked that field goal. Was
it about five years ago? But that was an ode,
that was an altitude it was. It was um, but
you know what, it's it still counts the same in
the record books. I think what four or five of
us have it, And I'm you know, I'm just I

(01:49:49):
feel honored to be up there with with some amazing kickers.
Best place to kick his were alright, Carolina, Okay, take
Carolina out of it Dome or out Dome are out
Dome Dome is awesome And I've been uh kicking in
a dome with no wind and and you know, a
consistent field is pretty sweet. So you look at those

(01:50:10):
guys that that uh you know, you look at Dan Bailey,
he just went from one dome to the other. You're
kind of like, man, look at this guy. But um,
you know it's you still got to kick the ball
far and straight, so you can't can't take that away
from the guys, but you don't. Dome games are pretty sweet. Um,
and uh it is is do you guys? Do you
guys harp on laces out like from ace Ventura? Is

(01:50:31):
that as big a thing as made it out to be? Uh,
it is a big deal. It is the laces different directions.
I've heard Jay Field he talked about it before. But
it'll change the flight of the ball. And um, but yeah,
I mean J j R. Snapper does a pretty good
job snapping the ball. And most of the time, I
mean i'd probably say like ercent of the time, Mike

(01:50:52):
doesn't even have to spend the laces. So by the
time he catches the ball, he's already got him facing forward.
So there. I mean, these guys are pretty pretty amazing
at what they do. So are you listen? Congratulations for
this week. At least you're the hero. We know we're
always just one field one missielgo away from being the goat.
Enjoy the victory lap and we appreciate you join us
all right, man, I appreciate it. Thanks for pleasures all ours.

(01:51:14):
Graham good know how awesome was that inside inside the
mind of one of the elite kickers in the National
Football League. Speaking of football, I'm gonna get to broadcast
on Friday from Miami. I'll be the sideline reporter on
Sunday's Bears Dolphins game on Fox. Our Fall Football Tours
brought you by Granger for Safety and Industrial Supply. Grangers

(01:51:36):
got your back. Visit Granger dot com. Let's um, let's
get you an update. Isaac Lowen Cron joins us. What
do you got, Isaac doug I got the Jacksonville Jaguars
Today they signed veteran free agent running back Jamal Charles
to a one year deal. Charles made four Pro Bowls
and nine seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs before spending

(01:51:56):
last season with the Denver Broncos. Speaking of the Chiefs,
they placed offense in lineman Laurette Duvernate tard If on
injured reserve today and signed free agent linebacker Frank Zombo.
The Bengals wave running back Thomas Rawls in the NBA.
Lakers head coach Luke Walton said this afternoon the Alonzo
Ball will make his preseason debut tomorrow against the Golden
State Warriors. Ball, of course, coming off offseason knee surgery.

(01:52:19):
He last appeared in the game back on March. Finally,
in baseball, tonight at eight oh seven Eastern, it's game
four of the American League Division Series, with the Red
Sox leading the Yankees two games to one. Mr cycle
brock Holt is not in the Red Sox starting lineup.
Aaron Hicks, however, is back in the Yankees lineup after

(01:52:39):
he had missed the last two games with a hamstring injury.
With tonight their season being on the line, Doug back
to you, Yeah, speaking of Alonzo Ball, Um, I think
it's gonna be fascinating to see how he plays this year.
The most important time. Most important time for NBA players
is the summer between their first and second year, especially
when you don't make the playoffs. I remember Lons only

(01:53:01):
played fifty games last year because the knee injury. He
was not good. He did get better, but he didn't
get time. All he did was he worked on his
upper body strength. His body is stronger, but he didn't
get to work at his exposed this or his finishing
or any of the encourt stuff they really wanted to
because because of that knee injury and the surgery that followed.
So gonna be fasting to see if he can in

(01:53:23):
fact beat out Rondo, but it's I think it's gonna
take a while before we actually know. And the Lakers,
I do not think are optimistic. They're not pessimistic, but
I just think they're like, let's just see, I don't
know what we got. Might be the third best second
year player they have one, two, three, four, two NFL

Show week days at noon Eastern three pm Pacific. Previously
on The Jug Godly Show. Eric Mangini joining us in
The Doug Gottlip Show here on Fox Sports Radio. I'm

(01:54:05):
kind of a buyer into the Bengals. What's your opinion.
I'm buying some some Bengal stock as well, and I
do think the diversity of ways that they can hurt
you offensively has improved, and it's one of those things
where they benefit from no expectations. They benefit from being
completely out of the radar. Nobody talks about the bangles,

(01:54:25):
I mean very rarely does anybody bring that up. And
that's that's a great position to be in early on.
I'd much rather start the season like that because then
you can you can go through it and everybody's focused
on the task at hand. There's not a ton of distractions. Yeah,
I've liked what I've seen from from the whole package.
All three phases have done really good things. If you

Some of these things you couldn't make up if you tried.
How about a Twitter feud between Michael Thomas of the

(01:55:33):
New Orleans Saints, who's awesome, by the way, top five
wide receiver in the game ever since he came into
the league out of Ohio State, and Washington's Josh Norman
and three four I love I love that game. So
the Saints dismantle Washington on Monday Night Football last night.
After the game, Norman tells the Washington Post of Thomas

(01:55:57):
that guy to speak on him. I will not waste
my breath. I'm sorry, I will not. He's not worthy
of it. He will never be worthy of it now.
Later on Twitter, Norman accused Thomas of quote clout chasing,
followed by an emoji of a clown g D auto correct.

(01:56:17):
I assume he meant clown chasing. Maybe also called him
a blocking decoy. He subsequently deleted the tweets. But then
it was Thomas's turn on social media, tweeting a Norman quote,
among other things, zone corner, play your role. I'm going
to bully you every time I see you, just so
you know. You my son, go to bed son, I

(01:56:40):
was punking you all night. Give me a break, your
coach so he can put your so called tough guy
self in time out again and got you still crying
to the media in your cheap bleep suit and in
my mentions, crying you thirty years old. Dude, life comes
at you fast. Goofball can an artist. This is my

(01:57:01):
favorite part when we find out you not who you
say you are. Unquote that last one said at three
forty two this morning, thank you, uh huh okay, correct, thanks,
uh huh okay. Right. Look, I like the trash talk
back and forth, and I like that it's public. It's

(01:57:21):
just like, at some point, dude, you guys should all
go to sleep. We're kind of all done with you
direct message trash talk to each other. But if I'm
Josh Dorman, after I got after my team got smashed,
you know, ultimate trash talking is scoreboard. It wasn't like
it wasn't like that was a field goal game. Wasn't
like a game where it was in question. That was

(01:57:43):
a no doubter. And as Coln Coward pointed out earlier today,
the Washington Redskins had well over a week to prepare
coming off a bye week, and they didn't play until
Monday night and they still got their tails kicked in.
So I I just it wouldn't be the game in
which I would be talking trash. Yeah, especially on Josh

(01:58:04):
Norman's and this was one where Michael Thomas had all
the ammunition and the facts behind him. I was just thinking,
how great would it be if the league's could have
social media policies where they'd allow the players to tweet
from the sidelines during games. It would be even better
if they could have gone back and forth on social
media during the game instead of it three forty five

(01:58:25):
in the morning after the game. Now here's another item
involving the Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Antonio Brown. He's facing two
lawsuits from an incident that happened in April at his
condo in Florida. It all started in April when he
said that he had eighty thousand dollars worth of materials

(01:58:46):
and a gun stolen from his condo. The next day,
he called the police because he got into a dispute
with the security from the building because he thought they
were setting him up to be blamed for the theft
from the day before, so he apparently got very agitated
and started throwing things in his condo and also out

(01:59:08):
of his condo on the fourteenth floor. Allegedly, he threw
two vases and ottoman and other pieces of furniture from
the fourteenth story down to the pool, where it nearly
hit a two year old child. The two year old
child his guardian is suing for, among other things, emotional damages,
saying the child has experienced anxiety and trouble sleeping since

(01:59:33):
the owner of the condo is also suing Antonio Brown
because he said that the apartment was in shambles after this.
Mirrors were smashed, tables were destroyed, countertops were lifted off
the deck, there were burn holes and black magic marker damage.
I have no idea what that means. And it looked
like they had rumbled there. Yeah, so Antonio Brown facing

(01:59:58):
two lawsuits, among other things throwing things off a balcony. Thankfully,
apparently he had Nathan Peterman's accuracy when throwing those things
off the balcony. What why why was he in such
a rage? Was it a party with I don't understand.
So he had eighty thousand dollars worth of stuff stolen
the day before and a gun, and he felt that

(02:00:18):
security was saying that it was his fault that all
that stuff got stolen. Yeah, the throwing the ottoman stuff,
it feels like a little bit much, right, there's a
little bit much thrown off the balcony. Um, I'll be
honest with you, I don't I don't know about the
emotional distress thing. I don't know how close the ottoman

(02:00:39):
came to hitting it a little kid and if the
kid is really feeling emotional stress. But it feels like
a weird stuff, feels like a weird story. I do
like part of me wants to process that. Like, if
I got eighty thousand dollars with the stuff stolen, I'd
be ticked to I'd be punching through things and throwing things.
Another hand, I don't think I have eighty thousand dollars
worth of stuff to steal, and I don't think I

(02:01:00):
ever go incredible hole can throw an ottoman out a window.
So yeah, I'm a little bit lost in the story.
Sald the alarm elsewhere in the NFL and Tamor news
that Jacksonville Jaguars, who have had all sorts of problems
keeping their running backs healthy, Leonard Fournette out and definitely
t J Yeldon battling an ankle problem. Corey Grant their

(02:01:20):
number three running back, just put on injured reserve, just placed,
just signed rather former four time Pro Bowl running back
Jamala's Charles, who had a great run over nine seasons
of Kansas City, but limited usage and not used at
all much last year when he played for the Denver Broncos.
So he's their next option at running back in Jacksonville.
Are you still there? M m um? Look, I'd like

(02:01:43):
to see Jamal Charles be back and be fresh and
be anywhere near what he was in Kansas City, and
you can go buy yards for carry, but he didn't
have it in Denver. That's why he didn't stick. Let's
let's see. Let's see what time off and how much
he rehabbed and how ready he is. Speaking of running backs,
NFL media reports that Adrian Peterson of Washington was diagnosed

(02:02:03):
with a strained shoulder. He'll get a second opinion, but
in any event, it is not expected to keep him
from playing, and initially appeared that he had just dislocated
his shoulder. In fact, that's what Peterson thought happened in
the blowout lost to the Saints. He said, I just
popped it back in and braced it up at halftime,
so it looks like he's not gonna miss any further time.
So he so he's riggs basically from lethal weapon shoulder

(02:02:27):
back in good. I made him laugh. And finally in
baseball do or Die game tonight for the Yankees, and
they're gonna get Aaron Hicks back into the lineup. So
if he does well and hits when out, Sterling can
bellow Hicks. It's one of the sticks. But there are

(02:02:50):
seasons on the line so he is back in the
lineup tonight. But the Yankees, after missing too with a
hamstring injury. Mr. Cycle brock Holt, however, will not be
in the lineup for the Boston Red Sox. Yeah that's
because I mean part of the home run was off
of a position player. Because that thing got out of
hand last night. I do wonder how many people were
actually watching that late into the night with football also

(02:03:10):
on at the same time. I think the Yankees make
this thing to a game five Red Sox Yankees has
to go to the distance. I believe that was actually
the eleventh commandment, get out there, and that was the press. Yes,
Ryan music. So we had on Graham Gono like twenty
minutes ago. He said that it was in high school.
He kicked a seventy three yard field goalventy one seventy

(02:03:33):
one yard field goal. What was your most impressive athletic
achievement that people may have never seen, never heard of,
But you were just like, that's the best I've ever done. Okay,
I had so our our rival high school, one of
our rival high school was Woodbridge High School in Irvine,

(02:03:53):
and my high score was forty four points. It's still
a school record. The next time we played them, I
had thirty two, but I had eighteen at the end
of the first quarter. I was way better, well I
would I didn't even play that well. When I had
forty four, I missed like four free throws, like I
had thirty two, but it was a clean thirty two.
And I had eighteen and like five assists in the
first quarter, and I just made everything I threw, and

(02:04:16):
that was the best I've ever played. I also in
a playoff game once I threw a length of the
court pass to a teammate and it hit off another
player's wrist and bounced up and winning the basket. And
because it hit his wrist outside of the three point line,
it was the three point shot. There you go, There
