You're listening to Fox Sports Radio, Boom America, Doug gott
Leap Show, Fox Sports Radio. What up with you? I
hope you're having a great day. Doom down to do
to do? Dude? Do dude? Do you know? It's the

(00:44):
fakest thing ever when guys leave a bad team to
go to a good team and to pretend like they're
all bent out of shape. Oh man, so's that I'm
lose leaving this team where no hope, no hope of
making the playoffs to get a playoff bonus in a
new contract. Welcome in. It's trade deadline day in the

(01:05):
National Football League. It's also post Clay Thompson fourteen threes day.
Oh yeah, By the way, the Patriots are better than
anybody in the a f C East. That one not
a surprise. Congrats to John Ramos, Ryan Music and of
course the omni present and omnipotent one who Ramos and
Music both copied. Uh that would be that would be

(01:31):
Dan Buyer, as Music I think put it. Dan's always right.
In this case he was, the Patriots won and the
Patriots covered. I was wrong last night. Uh Well, the
difference here is I always take credit when I'm wrong,
but these guys never give me credit when I'm right.
I'd hit every Monday night football and Thursday night game
until last night, and no one will count it against

(01:52):
my for my season record, which is just devastating to
me because I'd be laughing and be able to post
my records all the way to the bank. Instead, I'm
merely several games above college and pro. But that's beside
the point. Let's get to what the NFL is. What
we're learning about the NFL. We're learning about the NFL

(02:14):
is they're They're not the first to market, but they
have completely figured out how to take advantage of their
market position right. In many ways, it's a lot like Nike. Right.

(02:35):
If you remember, going back ten years ago, maybe when
under arm Our first came out with the tight fitting,
very breathable and wearable under Armour gear you remember when
that happened. Nike already had their dry fit gear, but
the pro compline didn't come out until after under Armour

(02:58):
made a move and got some their market space. What
did Nike do? They said, that's a great idea. Let's
put a Nike swush across it, use our dry fit technology.
Let's make what they've done, only do it better. And
though Underarmer still has market share, it has never been

(03:19):
able to challenge or even come close to challenging Nike.
Also interesting is in the whether it's Athletica or Lulu Lemon,
all of the type fitting yoga ware which you thought
maybe ten years ago or fifteen years ago, Nike just
buys Lulu Lemon. Instead, they've allowed lul Lemon to coexist.

(03:41):
They just make the exact same gear and don't have
to pay a billion dollars for a company. Look around
the NFL and you understand that this league collectively is
getting smarter. Yes, it's still a fairly Neanderthal sport where
men bash helmets with other men, but the evolution is

(04:07):
taking place right before our eyes. And today is the
perfect example. Dumarrius Thomas sold to the highest bidder his contract,
which is bloated and a guy who is not nearly
the receiver he used to be. You found a team
in need. With Will Fuller out for the year, the
Houston Texans in first place, they end up making a

(04:32):
move on a team that has decided here's here, here's
where it's smart. Teams used to keep fighting for like
late season wins, and they used to say, well, look,
we'll worry about contracts at bad contracts at the end
of the season. In this particular case, as is the

(04:53):
case UH last week with Raiders jettison ng there highest
soon to be highest paid receiver. And you even look
at um the Detroit Lions. What the Detroit Lions do today?
They make a trade as well, trading Golden Tate. The Lions,

(05:18):
the Raiders, and the Broncos have all decided this is
not the year for us, So let's get rid of
these salaries. Let's acquire as good a draft picks as possible.
Let's take advantage of teams that are in need. This
has happened at end at at at certain times, but
generally it's a disgruntled player. Right. Look back at last

(05:39):
year when the Dolphins traded their leading rusher to the
Philadelphia Eagles, which helped get the Eagles to a Super Bowl.
That happened because the Dolphins had a disgruntled running back,
Jedi was picked off at his lack of carries at
splitting time. It wasn't because the Dolphins decided to split

(05:59):
on the season. And oh yeah, by the way, the
John gruten is an idiot. John Grudden looks like an
absolute genius today. Sure, his season has gone to hell
in a handbasket, but he inherited a team and had
a plan to have a long term fix. They have

(06:19):
a ton of cap room. They have three first round
picks for the next for for next year, and then
two first round picks the following year. Those are gold,
golden assets as his cap space. Don't believe me, look
at other teams copying him now. But this isn't the

(06:40):
only way in which the league has gotten smarter, right,
They continue to find new ways to protect their most
valuable asset, that's the quarterback. Today they announced that they're
gonna play a fourth game in London next year because
like so many other entities, they're kind of tapped out
in the United States. Right, And if you don't understand
the how you have playing in London. It's not just

(07:02):
that you have new fans. It's a whole new it's
a whole new um game time. Right, you go back
ten years ago, the NFL had no Thursday night Football,
and the NFL had no game in Mexico, and they
had they didn't have games in London. In order to

(07:25):
generate more revenue, you need more games on TV where
they're not conflicting with each other, they're not cannibalizing each
other's numbers. Look, Roger Goodell has not been great with
the anthem protest and he was not good with UM
with the Ray Rice situation in domestic violence. But the

(07:46):
reason that he's compensated the level is compensated is they
are absolute geniuses and how to market this league and
understanding one protect the assets we have, and to expand
not just overseas but also in different viewing hours. Sure,

(08:07):
you're not gonna get the same numbers when you have
the games in London they're on at six thirty in
the West Coast and nine on the East Coast, but
those were times of day which previously you gave away
to network TV. New windows create new inventory, period and

(08:27):
over the last ten years they now have four new
windows for games in London, and I think it's sixteen
new windows for Thursday night games. It's amazing what they've done.
It's like the league just figured out. Hey, basketball started
tanking way back when Rick Pettino did it with the
Boston Celtics, and of course it became a cool thing

(08:50):
with trust the process with the Philadelphia sent The Astros
did it back in two thousand thirteen and they won
a World Series. Why aren't we doing this? That's a
exactly what Gruden has executed, and now the league is
following suit. Additionally, like baseball, like basketball, dumping bad contracts
or contracts are going to inflate and doing it now crease.

(09:11):
It creates cap space for now. And you have to
understand how the salary cap works in the NFL. The
year ends in March, so if you have additional space
this year created by late season trades or late season cuts,
you can sign players currently on your roster for next
year using some of your cap space for this year.

(09:33):
It's brilliant. And oh yeah, by the way, you can
also save money because even though there's a ceiling for
the cap, there's a floor for the cap, so you
hit the floor early in the year, and then you
jettison those contracts and you can end up making more
money in a yearly. Basis the business of the NFL.

(09:54):
Those people, this is uh, this is the way I
try and operate. I don't want to be a lot.
I like you guys know what the luddites are, bloodys are.
It's a famous story of textile workers in the eighteen
hundreds who they went about destroying machinery because they thought
they would take away textile jobs. Right. So the idea

(10:16):
is somebody who is like anti technology, I don't want
to advance because ultimately it's gonna come back around to
hurting me. That's a that's a luddite. Neo Luddites are
people that that go, hey, I don't want a cell phone.
Cell phones at the devil cell phones are. And then
today I had to scan a document and my wife's like,
why are you going into the computer room. Why are
you going into the room the office to scan a document.

(10:37):
I can do it for my phone, Like you can, yeah, here,
press this button, send it to your send it to
every to send it. It's done. That's amazing. So I'm
not gonna sit here and tell you, the NFL is
one of those Hey, we discovered as soon as the
apps come out, we got them. We load them on
our phone. But when they see something smart, they go,

(10:57):
you know what, let's do that. Major League Baseball, the NBA,
they've expanded overseas, and the NFL has done it smartly
in bits and pieces. Why because kind of tapped out
here in the States. And instead of having football on

(11:17):
Fridays and Tuesdays and Wednesday's the way college football has
where you feel like the market is saturated, they're still
fairly saturated. But hey, we're gonna keep it on Sundays only.
We're gonna play four of them early in the morning.
We're still gonna play Thursdays. Meanwhile, we're gonna protect our
assets where you can't touch a quarterback because they're the
most important guy in the field. And oh yeah, by

(11:39):
the way, while they've evolved in so many places and
they do have better guaranteed contracts, the fact is that
the NFL has the shortest term contracts, which is genius
because one, it's the most violent sport, so guys last
the least amount of time. And to nothing's worse in
professional sports than when a guy has some albatross of

(11:59):
a deal. Is that bad for the players? I guess?
But in terms of running a business, it's brilliant. While
Golden Tate and Demerius Thomas and maybe to a lesser
extent because it happened over over a week ago, uh,

(12:24):
the Dallas Cowboys acquiring a potential I guess. I guess
star wide receiver right and Amari Cooper. While Amari Cooper
and Demerius Thomas and Golden Tate are the headline names,
the true headline is the NFL has figured out that

(12:44):
tanking works and dumping bad salaries when the season has
no hope is a super smart thing at the trade deadline.
It's happened in baseball for years, it's happened in basketball
for years, and the NFL has gotten smarter over the
past twelve of the twenty four months. Peck. Even the
Jets last year, who should have been tanking games didn't

(13:07):
won five games and had to trade away their future
just to move up and get the third pick in
the draft. You're watching an evolution of the league. And
oh yeah, by the way, John Gruden helped usher it
in and he's capitalized on it far more so than
the Broncos did or the Lions were able to do.

(13:30):
Come up next, Robert Klemco joins us from the mm QB.
I get his thoughts on on all of this trade movement,
on what triggered teams deciding we're gonna dump games, We're
not gonna care. I feel like this is the first
of many to come. Plus, who is the guy who
can fix the Browns? That's I'm coming next. But first,

(13:55):
sports fans, football season is almost at the midway point.

(15:20):
Fox Sports Radio. Fascinating, fascinating. I believe we have an
hour left in the trade deadline. Uh, this just in time. Montgomery,
after missing a block on the Packers last possession, causing
the offense to go off schedule and then deciding to
come out of the end zone on the ensuing kickoff

(15:41):
when they're down two points and summarily fumbling. Has been
traded to the Baltimore Ravens, traded for a seventh round pick.
The seventh round pick is the in the NFL. That's
the uh bag of hockey pucks, right, That's that's the
NHL equivalent. That's the time Montgomery, who will get new
life there, who actually was a really really good Cory
the past couple of years, converted as a wide receiver

(16:03):
into running back and struggle with role and obviously people's
virtuol over a couple of really dumb plays. Smart guy
makes dumb plays, and people go crazy about Robert clemco
covers in nash Football. He does a great job for
the mm QB. He joins us on the Doug Gotlip Show.
It to me, it feels like the most active trade

(16:23):
season in the history of the NFL. And and the
only thing I can think of, Robert, is that the
NFL has finally gotten smart, right, Guys like Gruden coming
in going like, hey, my team is not any good.
Let's dump games, dump contracts that we don't want to pay,
and get young and cheap and slowly build a sustainable
UH team with sustainable contracts. It feels like copying other

(16:46):
leagues baseball and basketball. Is that a crazy way to
look at it? No, I don't think that's a crazy
way to look at it. And and this has been
one of the more thrilling, action packed trade deadlines in
recent memory. UM. I think that the reason that you
have seen in the NFL behind other leagues in this
is because you know, these coaches really run a risk

(17:07):
of losing their locker room when they start to trade
away guys that are key contributors. UM. You talk about
da Marius Thomas and and Golden Tate, those are good players.
I don't think you could say that the Lions, UM
or the Broncos are necessarily tanking. They did get, you know,
pretty good picks for those guys. But the Raiders specifically,
I don't think you can make the argument that they're
not tanking UM and and that has everything to do

(17:29):
with the Khalil Mack trade. When you're a coach with
very little jobs security, as most most coaches are on
rebuilding teams, the locker room dynamic is so important and
having those guys want to go out and play for
you um is paramount. So I think that's why you've
seen the NFL a little bit further behind on this,

(17:49):
because basketball teams, you know, they can go out there
and and and screw around for for eight games and
and nobody really cares. But football, it's dangerous if you're
gonna go out there and not give it effort. I mean,
you're you're you're putting yourself at risk. So guys really
feel like they need to buy into the coaching staff.
Robert klemp co joining us in the Doug Gotlip Show

(18:09):
on Fox Sports tradiou There has been obviously a lot
of criticism of Gruden, but would it also be fair
to say, even though he treated away the best assets
he got, he got a king's ransom and return. Like
I look, I remember a lot of smart people saying
you're not getting two first round picks for Clill Mac
he did, and you're not getting a first round pick
from Mari Cooper considering his contract and the fact he's

(18:31):
not as good as maybe people thought he would be,
and he did. Could the case be made that even
though he might screw up the draft picks, and even
though he may have screwed up how he's handled the
whole thing. He did get the best back in return
for his assets. They did get the most back in return,
and I think that that's you know, that's something that's
not going to be a popular opinion on Twitter because
the gruten hate is so strong there, Um, But you're right,

(18:54):
you know, he got more than anybody believed he could.
The other flip side of this is that they have
had two Pro bowlers I think, drafted in the first
round in the last fifteen years, and they traded away
both of them. And with a player like Mac, the
only way that you're going to get an equal return
on this is if you get a once in a

(19:15):
generation talent, preferably a quarterback. And I'm sure that that's
what they're going to be looking for, um, But the
chances that you're gonna swing and miss on that are
so high when you already had a once in a
generation player on the roster. Robert Klemco joining us in
the Doug Otlive Sewan Fox Sports Radio, who's the guy
who can? And I it feels in the moment, it

(19:36):
feels like Cleveland continue on the cycle of dysfunction, and
probably is. But I look back at Jared Goss first year,
and I remember the dysfunction there with the Rams. They
fired Jeff Jeff Fisher, you know, mid season as he
loses control of it. And then they make the hire
of Sean McVeigh, the youngest head coach in the NFL,
and he makes the hire of Wade Phillips and the rest,

(19:57):
as they say, is history. And now there's the only
undefeated team in the NFL. Who's the guy that can
fix Cleveland as head coach? Well, I think there's a
number of guys that they're gonna look at and and
there's no real obvious number one candidate, um, the way
that McVeigh was so saw it after two years ago. UM.
But there there are a number of young UH coaches

(20:18):
with with good experience that are gonna be in line there.
You know, I look at Eric b enemy Um, the
former running backs coach and now offensive coordinator UH in
Kansas City. You know, he's not the play caller there.
Andy Reid is the play caller. UM. But that line
of coaches UM, beginning here recently with Matt Nagy, has
been really popular. UM. And I think that with Baker
Mayfield and Patrick Mahomes coming from similar college offenses that

(20:40):
are all from the same air raid coaching tree or
schematic tree that anybody with experience with Kansas City is
going to be looked at pretty seriously. UM. And and
like I said, there's no clear cut number one guy,
there's no offensive wizard out there. But John B. Filippo
is another name that that I think will be pretty popular. UM.

(21:03):
I would think that given John Dorsey's experience with Andy
Reid in Kansas City, that he probably looks at this
like it maybe his last chance at being an NFL GM,
and he's gonna go with a guy with less experience,
more charisma, somebody who he feels like as a motivator,
who can turn around the program and make the changes
that Hugh didn't. UM. So that from a personnel standpoint,

(21:27):
John Dorsey has more control than ever before. I think
he'd like to go out on his own terms this time.
Robert Klemco joining us in the Doug outlip Shaw on
Fox Sports Radio. I know it's just the Bills, so
it's probably not the game in which you have to
point to and go see. The Patriots are still right there.
But they did beat the Chiefs and after looking like
a disaster against the Jacksonville Jaggers looking just slow, just

(21:49):
stuck in the mud. Look at the two teams ever since.
How do they keep doing this? How do they keep
reinventing themselves? Yeah, I think getting Gronkowski back was huge.
And if you look at some of the offensive success
that they've had over the course of the season, and
especially against the Bills, the pass catching running backs, just
dinking and duncan down the field with Tom Brady and

(22:10):
those pass catching backs has been so effective. Um, I
think they're probably gonna run into some teams that have
an answer for that, and then that's when you're gonna
see that offense have to open up. I thought it
was so telling this week when they benched Josh Gordon
for a quarter for being late to a meeting, as
opposed to just cutting him. I think that was an

(22:30):
admission on the part of Bill Belichick that he really
needs the wide receiver help at the moment and they
are extremely depleted on the offensive side of the football.
Because five years ago, a guy with Josh Gordon's reputation
getting his last chance comes late to a meeting in
New England. You think that guy's on the roster on Monday.

(22:51):
Probably not. The the answer is is probably not. Let
me ask you about the Chiefs. We mentioned on how
they kind of taking the league by storm at seven
and one. They only lost to the in a shoe
it out to the Patriots, but of course the questions
about their defense remains, and we've seen the Chiefs lose
at home in the playoffs in spite of the fact
that everyone would say they have a great home field advantage.

(23:11):
What are your thoughts on on if this team can
in fact overcome their demons in spite of the fact
they're so limited defensively. Yeah, you know, I I go
back to that that shootout with the Patriots where you
just got the feeling the whole game and and it
bore out that the last team with the ball was
going to you know, I was going to drive it

(23:31):
down the field and win the football game. Um, they
don't have the defense, and they and they have a
couple of pieces that excite you on that side of
the ball. Um, they DeFord a specifically at edge rusher
has really come along this season. But he's not an
impact player. Uh, he's a high quality edge rusher. They
just don't have anybody that wows you on that side

(23:52):
of the ball. So you know, they're not a team
that I'm that I'm putting money on right now to
make it to the super Bowl. But I think that
they have as good a chance as anybody else in
the a f C. It just depends on who gets
the football last. Robert Klemco joining us in the Doug
Gotlip Show here on Fox Sports. TRADEO, Um, I love
these reports of Pittsburgh. Doesn't know when Levian Bell is
gonna report. He's gonna report after the trade deadline, right,

(24:13):
I mean, isn't that kind of obvious? He doesn't want
to be traded. He wants to compete for a super Bowl.
He knows he knows that he's going to be a
free agent after playing for the Steelers. Doesn't that seem
to be fairly obvious. He'll wait till the trade deadline expires,
then come in sign the deal and and play, try
and get some numbers and then be a free agent. Right.
You know, his next deadline is week ten, and he's

(24:34):
got to come back that week or else. This year
doesn't count towards his franchise tag and he can be
franchise tagged again, So you know, there was speculation over
the last couple of months, Hey may come back this week.
He may come back this week. I think that he
and his representation knew all along that if he came
and signed that franchise tag, that they were going to
deal him for a first round pick or second round

(24:56):
pick or whatever they could get for him the week
he signed in that tag. So I think you're absolutely
right he's coming back after this trade deadline. He's coming
back after at the last possible moment. Robert Klemco joining
us on the Doug Outlift Show on Fox Sports Radio.
Are the Saints for real? Man? They look pretty good
against the Minnesota Vikings. You know, if you have a

(25:18):
healthy Alvin Kamara and mark Ingram on the field at
sunder and lightning combination, where both of those guys are
so incredibly dynamic both as runners and pass catchers, it's
hard to bet against the team like that. UM. I
will be thrilled, you know, to see them play a
team like the Rams or a team like the Chiefs
and see if Drew Brees still hasn't in him to

(25:40):
go shot for shot with some of these young, um
high flying offenses. UM, the defense is really encouraging. You know,
Marshawn Lattimore is is still an incredible player, still the
headliner on that defense. UM. Head to head right now
against the Rams, I think that they lose UM, but
you can never really underestimate an offense with that many weapons.

(26:00):
And of course, uh, you know that that game is
that game is upcoming, so we'll get a chance to
see it actually on a football field. What about the Chargers, Now, look,
they didn't beat the Chiefs, they didn't beat the Rams,
the two elite teams that they've played, but they've also
still been playing without Joey Bosa and who's arguably their
best player, probably the best defensive player. And it changes
how we look at Melvin Ingram when you have the

(26:20):
two of them as Russia ends um, they have so
much negative baggage, so many people to convince that they
are in fact for real. Are we convinced that the
Chargers are a legit contender in the a f C.
I'm convinced that they're contender, but I I still don't
know that they get over the hump and beat the Chiefs.
The thing that scares me about them is that the

(26:43):
offense is a little bit one dimensional um, and it
runs through Melvin Gordon. He's essentially the number one receiver
on that football team. And I know that Keenan Allen
has more catches, more yards, but he's been completely ineffective
in the red zone. I think he has one receiving
touchdown this year, and when it's third down and five, six, seven, Uh,

(27:03):
he's almost a non factor. It's all about Melvin Gordon.
The team that figures out how to shut down Melvin Gordon, who,
by the way, is coming off a minor injury going
you know, coming out of the bye week. The team
that figures out how to shut down Melvin Gordon and
Austin Ekeler coming out of the backfield lining up as
a wide receiver is going to be able to figure
out the I'm sorry the Los Angeles charget. Yeah. Not

(27:25):
having Hunter Henry and I know that they brought Antonio
Gates back and he can still be marginally effective, and
not having Hunter Henry changes them for the worst in
the red zone. And we'll see you. There's there's an
outside chance he comes back and plays late late this season. Um.
Last thing the Eagles have been I think at least mildly,
if not more than that. Disappointing so far this year.

(27:47):
Of course, some of it comes from not having your
quarterback and even when he comes back and not being
completely healthy all Shan Jeffrey not healthy to start the year.
They add, Uh, they add Golden tap today. Um, what
areur thoughts now in the Eagles as they've added a
number two or maybe even a slot wide receiver in
a Golden Tate, hoping that with that division they can

(28:07):
win getting the playoffs and take another shot. Yeah, you know,
I'm excited to see how they use Golden Tate and
Nelson Anna Galore together because I think they're very similar
players and they both really thrive in the slot. So
I think that with Nelson having a little bit more
experience in the offense, they asked him to go be
that boundary outside receiver, and they asked Golden Tate to
take on a more familiar role as something that's probably

(28:30):
a little bit easier to adapt to and short notice. Um,
you know, they've got bigger problems probably at other other
parts of the roster. But as we know, in today's NFL,
everything runs through the passing game. So if you if
you've got an opportunity to you know, spind I think
a third round pick is what they gave up for him. Yeah,
if you've got the opportunity to go get a starting

(28:51):
wide receiver, who's gonna get you seventy eight catches a
year with a third round pick, especially when another team
in your division just gave up a first round pick
for a player that is not We're producing nowhere near
what Golden Tate has been producing in Detroit. And of
course I'm talking about the Cowboys trading one for Marii
Cooper that you know, I think that's a great deal. Um.

(29:13):
The Eagles that are at a critical juncture in their season,
and they've got some pretty good opponents coming up. I mean,
you've got the Saints on November eighteen, You've got a
tough Washington defense on December three, You've got the Rams
in mid December on the six team. Um, so you know,
the road for them is a little bit more difficult
than the first half of the season has been, and

(29:33):
I think they felt like they needed to make a change. Well, no,
but you mentioned the Saints. Saints got Rams this week,
then Bengals on the road, Uh, then the Eagles at home.
We'll know if they're they're for real upcoming. Robert, you
do a great job with m MQB. Make sure you

Thanks so much for joining us, Thanks for having me.
Pleasure is mine. Let's get you to Dan Buyer find
out what else is going on. Anybody else been trading?

(29:55):
Is Ramo has been trading. That's a big question. That music.
So they're trying to move music and they like, no,
we are. I was like, he does not have a
very bad contract that like doesn't really have much value there.
You're gonna have to you have to go um uh
Brandon Marshall. Um, you gotta go Brandon Marshall to get
rid of music. It's not yeah, it's not the It's

(30:15):
basically teams just aren't meeting our asking price for John.
All we want is a seventh round pick four, and
nobody wants to give it up. So, I don't know,
a hundred and sixties some years from now, nobody wants
to give up that seventh round pick. So we are
stuck with John asked for music. It's just really his
attitude is the problem. It's just an issue that we

(30:36):
can't but we've got twenty four minutes to try to
try to make a deal. A deal just went down,
according to Adam Schefter of ESPN and E and Rapp
Report of the NFL Network, the Rams getting a pass
rusher as defensive end. And I don't know if you're
a former first round pick, you're always a first round pick, Doug.
But Dante Fowler Jr. On his way to l A
from Jacksonville. So that trade just happening with twenty four

(30:58):
minutes left in the raid period. For the National Football League,
of course, the deals you talked about with Robert Clemco
Eagles getting golden tape, Brocco sending wide receiver to Marius
Thomas to Houston. Other news from the NFL, the Bills
are signing wide receiver Terrell Pryor. The Seahawks released wide
receiver Brandon Marshall, while the Green Bay Packers, as you

(31:18):
also mentioned, traded running back Time Montgomery to the Baltimore
Ravens for a seventh rounder. In a lot going on,

had four guys arrested for supposedly running out in a bill?

(32:44):
Were walking out in a bill? Um, here's how I
know it to be a very strong possibility. I haven't
seen the video, but I'm sure video exists. Remember, there
are four Jaguars that were arrested. What the night before
they were gonna play in London for a nightclub bill? Uh,
which was like ten thousand euros whenn't it? And what's

(33:08):
interesting about it is if they didn't run out on
the bill, they ran out on the bill, Well, now
you're probably guilty. But if they walked out because they've said, hey,
it was a miscommunication. We thought we were being comped.
I actually buy that. You know, don't you? Why don't
you come by a club? You know, it's great to
have you in town. Like, yeah, where I'm from? Like

(33:29):
you come you, I sit down, You don't take my
credit card? Like you take my credit card when I
sit down to start a tab, Well, then I know
the tab is always running so I got to know
a lot more details there. But interesting that Dante Fowler
trade away. That Jaguars team is a hot, hot mess.

(33:51):
But the Rams continue to add on getting another talented
pass rusher. They've been a little bit banged up of late.
The best trade so far today in the NFL. I'll
tell you next. Be sure to catch live editions of

He got three days he can opt out. How do
you what's the real conversation that's had if he opts out?
Why is he opting out? He's't gon to opt out
for more years or more money, and I don't think
he needs to do that. If if I'm Clayton Kershaw,
I'll staying right there with the Los Angeles Dodgers, man,

(34:33):
I am the face of the franchise. You know what
reminds me that It reminds me when Michael Jordan's went
to the Wizard and it just didn't look right. I
think if Clayton Kershaw put on another uniform, it just
wouldn't be that. When I see Clayton Kershaw, I think
the guys like Cal Ripken, Derek Jeter, guys that spent
their entire careers with one team. Is something really going
to give him more money and more years? I mean,

(34:54):
how much money can you possibly spend it? I think
that's what it boils down to. How much money do
you really need? I mean, do you want to compete
for championships or do you want to make some money?
And for me, Mann, I would always want to compete
for championships? Are you kidding me? Come on? I mean
to have the opportunity to go to the World Series
back to back years. That doesn't happen very often a
matter of fact, not at all. But to see the

(35:15):
success that he's had during the regular season has been phenomenal,
and the Los Angeles Dodgers aren't anywhere close to being
able to fight for that World Series championship if he's
not true Number one. If you missed anything from the

is yeah. Look, we're talking a bunch about football, talk

a little bit about basketball. To day. I got something
for you on the Patriots, which I think makes complete
sense in correlation to uh Brady and cars, and Aaron
Rodgers will get to that. Also my thoughts on the
Golden State Warriors and that incredible electric performance with Clay

This is game time on the Doug Gottlieb Show. Dan

(37:08):
Buyer Buyer one second, Dan Buyers by Discover Card. We
treat you like you treat you. Dan Buyer treats us
like he treats us. Right, Buyer, what do you got?
We have got, Doug a game called Rank. Come all right,
this is where we rank stuff. Let's rank the NFL
trades that have gone down today, really four big ones

(37:29):
and if you're just tuning in, Golden Tate goes from
the Lions to the Eagles for a third round pick.
Damarrius Thomas leaves Denver for Houston. They swap seventh, but
Denver also gets a fourth round pick from the Texans.
Tie Montgomery dealt by Green Bay to Baltimore for a
seventh round pick. In and now we know the compensation
on the Dante Fowler trade Jaguars trade of the defensive

(37:51):
end of the Rams for a third round pick in
twenty nineteen and a fifth round pick in um. Okay.
So when you say ranked the trades, which trade do
you love the best for either team? Do you love
that the Rams got a defensive end, You love that
the Eagles added a wide receiver. Do you love that
the Lions got a third round pick for golden tapes?

(38:11):
I would I would say, oh, um. I would say
probably the Texans getting to Marius Thomas because because they
just they have an absolutely look Fowler might be the
best player of any of them, and the rich get Richard.
My fear for the Rams is that by trading away
a third round pick in this year's draft, like the

(38:32):
rams whole plan is, they know they're gonna lose a
lot of these guys on one year pit one year deals,
and they're gonna try and draft youth in that defensive backfield.
You keep training away your third round picks or whatever like,
that's where you reload. But the Rams, already good, just
got better because of this. So let's go. Let's go Thomas,
who I don't think it is nearly at as his prime,

(38:54):
but really important at one. I'll put Fowler at two
in terms of importance because I thought the Rams gave
up a lot, and I'm gonna put Golden Tate at three.
It is the Eagles and they've shown the ability last
year to go out and make a move get J
J I and look how it changed them. I think

(39:15):
that this gives them a third weapon for Carson Wentz,
and it's really important. They wouldn't have spend as much
a third round pick. Remember they were they were looking
at Amari Cooper as well. They're only willing to get
a second from Mari Cooper, so I would I would
put that as number three. Doug rank, what you think
the college football playoff rankings will look tonight when they
are unveiled at seven o'clock Eastern time. Obama one, Clemson two,

(39:40):
Notre Dame three. I'm gonna go l s U four,
Michigan five, and Georgia six. Alright. The only thing that
I'm wondering is how much Notre Dame is going to
get credit for that Michigan win. Now Ton, Yeah, I
know they have a different quarterback now and Michigan is

(40:01):
a much better team and Michigan was on the road
and their quarterback was cramping. Nobody, nobody takes context into it,
but I would say, a ton, We've got a breaking
news trade, Go go. NFL Network reporting that the Redskins
have acquired safety Haha Clinton Dicks from the green Bay Packers.
So the green Bay Packers trading ha ha Clinton Dicks

(40:22):
to the Washington Redskins. This according to the NFL Network.
Looking for the compensation on this one, don't have it
just yet, but that just in well, the maybe maybe
the biggest, the biggest story coming out of that Packers
game was how well what's the kid's name, Jr? Alexander?

(40:43):
How well Jaire Alexander played? I think that makes Haha
Clinton dix um expendable. Remember Ted Thompson no longer running
this team. Ted Thompson was kicked upstairs and he was
the one who drafted Haha Clinton Dicks. Well see, I'll
see who has the last laugh in that one. Ah.
I know you're going, I know you're going to talk

(41:03):
about Clay Thompson a little bit later, but I do
want you to rank who had the best best night
of the Warriors trio. Clay last night in his fourteen threes,
Steph's night of thirteen threes the record that Clay broke,
Or how about when Kevin Durant at fifty four points
and just sixty eight touches in a win against the Warriors.

(41:23):
What's most impressive out of those three perform So I
think it was Durant on on the touches against the
Warriors this one. Clay's is two and steps is three.
I also would put Durant's uh explosion and Madison Square
Garden where they were down. They were down going into
the quarter and he single handedly had him win by
like twenty five points. That was like Friday night, this

(41:46):
is game time on the Duck Gottli Show, Clinton Dick
sent to the Washington Redskins. The Redskins sitting there at
five and two. Nobody talking about the Redskins in first place.
Alex Smith mr. Regular season, Right, he's the opposite of
He's the opposite of Joe Flacco. Regular season Alex Smith

(42:06):
is he equates to playoff Joe Flacco. So we'll recap
for you all. That's been the trade deadline stuff. Uh
my take on two points in the first half of
the Golden State Warriors and fifty two from Clay Thompson.
But up next, the Patriots are like Fast and Furious movies.
Tom Brady is like an accord. I'll tell you why

Do Do Do Do Do? Do Do Do Man? I
hope you're having a great day. Do Do do? NFL
acronym is it the National Football Leg or not? For long,
we've seen players traded at a rate we've never seen before.
As I told you earlier in the show, the NFL

(43:13):
is finally wising up and getting rid of depreciating assets
and getting value in return, clearing up cap space, saving
them cash, dumping games, really really smart stuff. The Dante
Fowler move is interesting, so too is the Haha Clinton Dicks,
you're just joining us, ha ha Clinton Dicks dealt from

(43:35):
the Green Bay Packers. I would also say that ha ha,
Clin Dicks in addition to playing for the Packers um
kind of America's team Light right, like America's team is
is still the Cowboys, but the other two America's team
lighter one bees, if you will, would be the Steelers
and the Packers also playing for Alabama and having a
name like ha ha Clinton Dix. That's why you're like, oh, yeah,

(43:58):
I know who that guy is. Where there's a hundred
other defensive backs in the National Football League you couldn't
pick out of a lineup. Um, anyway, we'll get to
some of those moves in a moment. I saw the
Patriots win last night. Let me get Derek Anderson at

(44:18):
quarterback for the Bills and the Bills lose at home.
That is not stunning news six. It was a boring game.
My prediction of the Bills covering looked really good for
a while for a while, right, And if you consider
the fact that the Patriots didn't have Sony Michelle like

(44:40):
I had, it, there was a legit thought process in it, right.
They were they were trying to be safe, not get hurt.
A lot of dinkin dumb passes don't have Sony Michelle.
They become a power running team. How Cordell Patterson basically
played running back for them yesterday. So between Edelman and
white Um they got combined for nineteen nineteen catches for

(45:04):
those two nineteen of the twenty nine DNK Dump Dank Dump.
Late in the game, they end up getting a big
pick six as Devin mccordy takes an eighty five yards
to the house and then of course Dan Buyer's prediction
that the other Lemmings went in toe with end up
coming true. But the formula works right. Coke made this

(45:29):
mistake my favorite part of college. My kids asked me
all the time, Dad, did you like school? And I
try to be honest with my kids to a point,
you know, to a point you can't be completely and
totally candid with him. But I was like, nah, I
didn't like most of school. I didn't, but I like
meeting friends and I did learn a lot of interesting stuff.
I really liked college, like I like. I majored in
marketing at Oaklahoma State Spirit School Business and I learned

(45:52):
a lot. And the ones I learned the most of
them were case studies and the there's a couple of
case study has that come up in my mind. The
first was the Chevy Nova that they tried to sell
in Mexico, Ramos Nova what's that mean in Spanish? Yeah,
no no do no go no ramos. How did you

(46:14):
screw that one? Up? I heard the va I knew
that was to go no va, no go right. So
you can't really sell a car in a country where
it's called the no go right, that's not like. Oh
so a lack of research and understanding of a different
culture in a different language. But the one I like

(46:37):
the most was New Coke. Do you guys remember New Coke? Okay,
so like coke was doing really really well, but pepsi
was gaining in market share. This is a true story. Okay.
So what they would do is they do blind taste tests,
and in blind taste tests, which did people like more Coker,
pepsi ramos? You want to guess? I would say pepsi? Why?

(47:04):
I don't know why? Music? Do you want to you
want to take guess? Why? It is pepsi sweeter? Yes,
it's sweeter. And so what they discovered was like in
blind taste tests, people like pepsi, but coke still had
the market share. People still bought coke, And so what
they did was they created this new formula New Coke
and New Coke was really like pepsi only in a

(47:26):
coke can, and they said, old Coke, you're done. Tegas,
New Coke, you're gonna work how to work out ramost
you remember, I don't think it worked out very well
the disaster case in point, we studied it market in
marketing as one of the biggest disasters in the history

(47:47):
of business. So go back. They have Coke, Classic Cokeley,
They have them both out for a while, and then
eventually they do away with New Coke and New Coke.
I think is almost like zero now really, if you
really want to kind of get down to it. And
no one ever in in Atlanta and Cocola headquarters they
haven't even mentioned New Coke anymore, New Coke anymore. Um.

(48:11):
And there's a couple of things that they didn't understand.
One is that though it was a sweet though people
liked in taste test pepsi, the fact is that even
though you like a sip of pepsi, you didn't like
a whole can of pepsi. Additionally, there's the branding of
Coca Cola, which had been around, you know, since our
grandparents parents, you know, our great grandparents. So those two

(48:35):
things combined and New Coke was a disaster. The idea
is this, the formula still works. The formula still works.
I like in the New England Patriots, the New England
Patriots to Coke Classic, I like, where whereas there are

(48:57):
other you know, the Philadelphia Eagles on a hayste test, like, man,
I really like that. I like that young quarterback talk
a little trash, taking chances on fourth down, running the
Philly Special, running your mouths afterwards. But that's a short
term win, whereas boring old cold classic is in fact

(49:19):
the paths or maybe here's a better one. How many
Fast and Furious are there? I've completely lost I believe
the eight Fast and Furious. There's a new Creed coming
out as well, isn't there, which is like the eight
or ninth Rocky movie to Creed too. So there's Rocky,

(49:40):
Rocky two, Rocky three, Rocky four, Rocky five, Rocky Balboa,
and then there's Creed and Creed too. So that's the
eight right, And you're like at some point you're like, okay,
do we is Hollywood completely out of ideas? No, there's
lots of a star is Born is an amazing movie.
People are raving about it. On the other hand, the

(50:04):
old formula still works, right Creed Creed one had a
forty million dollar budget, made a hundred seventy three million
dollars fast In The Furious seven, you're like, uh, you
know one of their lead leads die in a car
accident driving too fast into Porsche. Sorry, if there wasn't
some epic four shadowing there, made one point five one

(50:25):
six billion dollars on a hundred ninety million dollar budget.
The Fate of the Furious, which is I think that's eight.
I think that's eight, made one point to three nine.
But the idea is like, look, you've got a formula,
you've got fast cars, you've got good looking people, you've
got cheesy storylines, and you got some special effects. It
still works, still works, The same formula still works. Yes,

(50:49):
f a radio. They didn't say they had Mike and
Mike all right, they would pay them more money. It worked,
and they broke them off. It doesn't work right, Like
there's oh are you kidding me? Another Starbucks? Have you
ever seen an empty Starbucks in the morning or or

(51:09):
in the evening right in the don't matter how many
there are, they're always because the formula works. It just works,
don't argue with working formulas, and that's what the that's
what the Patriots have. They have a quarterback that takes
a little bit less than market value. They have one

(51:29):
or maybe two star offensive players. Right, they fill out
their roster with a competent defense, and slowly after the
third or fourth week of the season they start picking
off guys off the waiver wire or making limited trades
and adding pieces and somehow at the end of the day,
they might not win a super Bowl, but they're competitive.

(51:50):
They're in the playoffs. The formula works. And look, here's
what Brady is. A Brady is an accord. The Honda
Accord my mom has, like she's on like her fifth
different accord. It's the North American car of the year two.
They cost about the exact same amount of money. They're

(52:10):
still like low twenties, right. They got they have tech,
but not like crazy tech. You know. I got Bluetooth,
they got the side view cameras, they got the rear
backup camera, they got some other stuff. I think they
have the I Heart button so you can listen to
all our I heart stations, including this show on the
I Heart radio app. Best midsized car resale value like, look,

(52:30):
Aaron Rodgers is a Maserati. You ever heard one of
those Maserati engines as new ones? Oh but you know,
Maserati's probably in the shop as much as they're on
the road and limit lack of practicality. They're super, super
expensive and in terms of value and consistency, Like you

(52:52):
get it with the Accord, you don't get it with
the Maserati. You just don't. Take a listen. This is
Brady match is up with Rogers Sunday Night Football this
week and they have that incredible promo with Michael Jordan's
talking about the game. Wants you to take a listen.
This is this is Tom Brady talking about Aaron Rodgers.

(53:13):
Just what he's done as a quarterback is it's inspiring.
But even for me, I mean I watch his game
and it makes me want to get out there and
practice and improve because I think he's so phenomenal with
how he you know, manage himself in the pocket, and
mean his ability to throw the football is you know,
unlike anyone in the probably history of the league. It's
pretty awesome to watch. Yeah, here sitting there going like, yeah,

(53:38):
he's better than me. That's a Maserati. Um, I'm driving
in the court. I want to go out there and practice,
but I'm not as fast as him. You know. I
don't have the armed talent that he has. I don't
have the flexibility with the playbook because of my lack
of pure athletic ability. But I'll just go out and
we'll move the change, will dangle, dump, occasionally take a

(53:58):
shot deep. And we have Josh Gordon, we have a
running game. Will run the football. We'll figure out a
way to win the game. The Maserati has never one
North American Car of the Year. The Accord has just
this year, like the fifth time. Right, that's the difference.
Don't mess with formulas. Successful formulas are like winning hands

Doug Gottlie Show, Fox Sports Radio. Daniel Jeremiah works for

(55:25):
the NFL Network has got a great podcast called Move
the Sticks. He's also the analyst for the for the
l A Chargers radio network. UM let's start with trade
deadline day. A lot of moves. Which is the most
interesting to you? Okay, honest with you, Doug. I love
the Golden Tape move with the Eagles. Um, just because

(55:46):
when you look at what you're trying to compete with
in the NFC, I think they everybody knows everything's going
to go through the rams right now, and they felt
like they didn't have enough firepower. Um so to go
out there and get somebody that they can plug in
and know. The way I kind of look at this
is you've got a creative coordinator, creative play caller there
and Doug Peterson, and now you've got two receivers. When

(56:07):
you think about Golden taton Elsniglor that you can line
up in the backfield, Um you can. You got two
tight ends and Goddard Earth's and then you've got a big, huge,
tall target out there and al Sean Jeffrey. You can
get creative with with personnel matchups and do a lot
of different things with the players they have. Now, Um, okay,
what about Dante Fowler. What's he do for the Rams? Well?

(56:29):
I needed some edge rush. I mean that when you
look at them, they're all the rush comes inside with
those guys and they can play sue out some he's
been successful some out there. Aaron Donald obviously can move around. Um,
but whoever they were gonna put in that role, I mean,
that's the role. If you're a pass rusher, that's the
role you want be on the field. With those other
three guys, you're gonna get You're gonna get so much
one on one attention and you can you can try

(56:49):
and fan out protection and then and create some some
good opportunities. So I think Dante Fowler is going to
be really really successful there. I think that, you know,
for what he hasn't done or have been up and
down a little bit, and uh in Jacksonville, some of
that had to do with the fact they had so
many different guys that could roll through. Uh, He'm not
gonna have as much holding him back in terms of
what's in front of him off the edge there at end,

(57:10):
uh for for the RAM, So he'll get more opportunities,
and I think you'll see him post good numbers and
get overpaid now seasoned by somebody else. I know that. Um,
I know that there Clil Mack's a better talent, a
better asset. But considering what the market is for Mark
was for other wide receivers to get a first, for
Marik Cooper to get to first for Cleil Mac, can't

(57:33):
we at least say well, this season result wise is
a disaster for the Raiders in terms of what they
got back for their assets trading before the deadline. They
got a king's ransom, didn't they. Yeah, I agree with
you on Mark Cooper for sure. I did not think
they were going to be able to get more than
a second round pick for a Mark Cooper. Um, So
that to me was a trade that the Raiders won.

(57:55):
Now we'll see how he does with the Cowboys. But um,
I said that right from the jump, I thought that
was that was a smart moved by John Gruden. Now,
Khalil Mack, those guys are a little bit harder to
come by, and if they didn't you know, I said,
he got the two ones, but they gave up to
go on the other way, So that kind of off
sets some of that. Um. I just man, that one's
that one is a little bit harder for me, just
because guys like him are a lot tougher to find

(58:16):
and don't come along very often. And obviously when you
watch the Raiders play, have zero pass rush and they're
gonna try and try and find that in the draft.
It'll it'll all work out. Well, we'll all say that
John Gruden was the smartest guy in the world. If
somehow they end up with Nick Bosa at the end
of the day, um, and then you say, okay, this
all worked out. But if they end up you know,
accidentally uh in quotes winning a couple of games and

(58:37):
they end up picking seventh rades that I wouldn't. It
was good about that. Speaking of Bosa, still no Joey
Bosa for the Chargers, although he's getting he's getting closer
to returning their five and tube. And now that the
schedule picks up, you gotta go on the road to Seattle.
Suddenly resurgent Seahawks team. What's the state of the Chargers,
of the team that you see every week. Yeah, getting
a bye week, um, just getting freshened up a little bit.

(58:59):
I think be big coming off that huge one over
the Titans over there in London. But this will be
a good test. I mean, the Seahawks are running the football,
they're protecting Russell Wilson. Uh, they're playing a really high level,
as are the Chargers. So I think this would be
a good competitive game. Sounds like no Joey Bosa. Maybe
it's another week out, who knows. I have to wait
and see on that. But you know, Philip Rivers playing
the way he's playing right now, and uh and getting

(59:20):
Melvin Gordon back, I would imagine I'll go out there
to practice on Wednesday and have a better field for that.
But you know, people forget that Titan game he didn't play,
so getting him back to provide a little bit more balance. Um,
you know it's gonna be a heck of a game
up there in Seattle. Why did the Packers bail on
Clinton Dix? Um? You know, that's a good question. I personally,
for what they have on their roster, I don't think

(59:41):
they have a better option behind him, which that Damarius
Thomas trade to me, was less about Damarius Thomas and
more about Courtland Sutton. Just your your opportunity. You're taking
opportunity away from a better young player. I don't think
they have a better young player there in Green Bay. Um,
So to me, this is just something about the future
where they were they were going to move on from him,
uh in the off season, so they just went ahead

(01:00:02):
and did it now. But yeah, that's without knowing you know,
what's going on inside the building, um, and the dynamic there.
It doesn't make a ton of sense, um just from
the outside, it's just you know, I don't I don't
think they have a better option on campus. What's your
assessment of Kirk Cousins and how he's played well? You know,
it's interesting. For the majority part, I think he's played

(01:00:22):
well I think it was out the other day. I
thought he made the right choice and going to Minnesota.
I thought Minnesota made the white right choice and pursuing
Kirk Cousins. Now, unfortunately, it just seems like there's always
one or two plays they end up costing them. And uh,
you know, he played great for the majority of that game.
You watched the tape. They moved the all up and
down the field. The feeling fumble I thought was probably

(01:00:43):
the biggest, biggest gaff in that game. They're going into
scores that've been a fourteen point swing right before the
half um and then Kirk has to pick six, which
you know they showed it on TV and you can
see Digs needed to keep running. But it probably wouldn't
a great decision by Kirk. You just got to find
a way to eliminate those one or two plays a game. Uh,
that end up more really really good football they's been playing. Yeah,

(01:01:04):
my all The other take though, is that and and
this is important, what were there other options? Right? Like,
case Keenom is not good enough, that's been right and
so and and look, they weren't even the highest bidder
for him, so like and the idea we look at
we look and we're so results oriented, like, well, the
record is essentially the same as terrible, and Dealing is

(01:01:29):
having a great year, and he's partially responded part of
his dealing, but part of it he's partially responsible for it.
So I'm with you. I also think his ceiling does
as you point out, those one or two mistakes. That's
what separates him from the the elite guys, is that
he can't save you on his own, and sometimes he
tries to overcompensate, uh for for his limited athleticism and
makes it one or two plays a game, which can

(01:01:49):
in fact let you be Yeah, And I am hopeful
though that you can you can find a way to
erase those those couple of plays. I mean. But when
he went on, one of the reasons I think he
was excited about Minnesota was to go there where they
would have a run game with Murray and uh with
Dalvin Cook, and that just hasn't really happened. And then
of course he leaves Washington and Adrian Peterson finds the
Fountain of Youth and allis sudden, Washington's got a running game.

(01:02:12):
So interesting how that all worked out. It's fascinating how
the entire thing worked out. Danny Jeremiah joining us on
the Doug Gottlib Show here on Fox Sports Radio. How
well is Cam Newton actually playing? Like they're a good
football team. They're winning games. People are freaking out and
saying like Cam Newton should be m v P. How
is he actually playing? He's playing well. I mean, he's
doing good things. I think they found the north Turner

(01:02:33):
has been able to strike the right balance in terms
of using his legs without over using him there and
preserving him. They're playing good defense. I mean, it's a team.
I mean I think that probably you ask them, they're
they're excited the way things have worked out, because all
the talk has been about the Rams and the Chiefs
and they're kind of just laying in the weeds. And
Cam Newton has always been, Ah, he's always been a

(01:02:56):
marquee guy, somebody that's always talked about and I know,
you know, you just reference there you hear people talking
about him for the m v P man, I don't
hear much talk about him period. Uh So, I think
this is a good thing for them to kind of
be in the shadows a little bit leakwide um and
he's playing good football. He's playing really good football. How
good are the Saints. Yeah, I mean they're good. I
mean they showed they can win in a variety of ways.

(01:03:17):
The defense, you know, get some young players that are
starting to come along. Marcus Davenport's just gonna get better
and better. Um, you know, I do think home field
advantage is huge for them. I know they want on
the road, but that was still indoors. I don't think.
I don't think they're a team that that wants to
go play on the road at Philadelphia, you know, a
place like that, Washington, Philadelphia, someplace like that in the postseason.
So I definitely think this is a huge game this

(01:03:39):
week for them with the Rams. I think they've got
the Eagles coming up. They got Bengals on the road
in between two. Yeah, there you go. So to me,
I think of all the teams, uh, I see if
you agree with me, Doug, but of all the teams
in the playoff hunt, home field matters more to the
Saints than anybody else, no question about it. That they
are They are built for the Dome, and it's you know,
his arm strength is is built based upon the fact

(01:04:01):
that you know, like, look, he's a tremendous quarterback. But
he's helped at his age and even at any age
by playing indoors, and they're built to play indoors. It's
gonna be fashioning to see what they did. Play eleven
games indoors this year in the regular season, and a
couple of their roadies, like the Giants won. The Giants stink,
but two was early in the season. Now the weather
starts to turn. We we shall see next week maybe,
and since that, he's a big one to Daniel Jeremiah

(01:04:23):
joining us on the Doug Gottlieb Show here on Fox
Sports Radio. If the Buccaneers don't play Jamis, they can
cut him and save the money that they owe him
with the fifth year option. On the other hand, if
they don't play Jamis, they're basically done with Jamis. What
do you do if you're Tampa You gotta win games.
When you look at it, organizationally, head coach, general manager,

(01:04:46):
they need to find a way to get into the
post season. And that's why I went talking to teams
about names that were out there. They said, you know, look,
you know, teams kind of assumed that maybe the Shan
Jackson could be had, but they said the price tag
was so high they weren't gonna part with him because
they're trying to They're trying to find a way to
to get into the postseason right now, and to me,

(01:05:06):
Ryan Fitzpatrick gives them the best opportunity to do that.
And uh, you know, if he you know, he can
get them in that direction, that I think it's I
think that's if if they get if Bryan Fitzpatrick can
get them somehow in the postseason. Jamie Winson is done
in Tampa. And even if he doesn't, I think more
than likely I put it that he's done. I think

(01:05:27):
that really this is this is kind of the end
of the line there. He needs to change of scenery
and they need to move on. Um, but Jacksonville standing
pat with Blake Bortles, is that is that? Is that
gonna work? Uh? No, No, he's not good enough. I mean, uh,
he's just he's not And I think no seeing him
in the off season try and go out and do

(01:05:48):
something at the quarterback position. But you know the interesting
thing is when you watch tape, as bad as he's been, um,
the interesting thing is that for a while was talked about,
you know what about Eli Manning you know, try and
make a move for Eli Manning. I think Blake Bortles,
as bad as he's been, is played better than Uli Manning.
It's crazy that that's how bad it's gotten up in
New York. No, I know, but what do you, like,

(01:06:09):
what do you do if you're in New York? Do
you sit him down for an unknown rookie who just
got arrested for uh for almost plying over a cop
because he was trying to get out of a traffic jam?
I don't know, Like Kyle Aletta, like literally one of
the best dudes when you did all the homework on him,
Like that's why when I saw the him, I was like, what,
but he's supposed to be like one of the total

(01:06:29):
great kid. Uh So I'm kind of waiting to hear
some more information. I look, I'm guessing honestly, this happened
to me on the four or five the other night.
I'm driving back from the airport because like a dope,
I parked at the airport even though I flew into
a different airport I should just uber to the to
my flight, and there was a traffic jam, and in
an in an effort to avoid um, like an accident.
There's like an exit that you don't actually have to exit,

(01:06:52):
you know what I'm talking about. Okay, And so last second,
I kind of switch over and everyone's driving too fast,
and a cop like flags me down with this and
he's like, why did you go off of Why did
you go off of the uh uh crossover like that
that that median And I was like, well, I didn't.
I got there right beforehand. He's like, yeah, you did.

(01:07:13):
I was like, well, I'm in a tahoe. I would
know if I went over something right like you. He said,
why are you talking back to me? I was like, dude,
I'm not. I'm just you're being You're asking me, and
I'm being honest with you. I can honestly see it
where you're in a traffic jam, you take a quick
turn and you didn't know a cop is there. Right,
You're like, oh, you almost ran me over, Like I
understand it might feel that way to you, but I
was just trying to get around traffic and get to

(01:07:34):
my meeting on time. Yeah, no question. So yeah, that
one answer your story. Answer your question. I don't you know,
there's not like there's a great option, but I would
I would explore and just see what Karla Letta looks like.
At some point time here in the second half of
the season, you're not going anywhere and and it's it's over. Okay,
So what do you do if you're Cleveland, take take
me through the process of finding a head coach that

(01:07:55):
can help fix this thing. Okay, to the two names
I will keep an eye on, just kind of about
this the last couple of days. You know, winning winning
is is is something that hasn't been done there, So
find somebody's been successful, not an experiment, but somebody with
actual experience. That's one and the two names that I
keep coming back to. I don't know if both these
guys will end up hitting the market, but I think

(01:08:16):
there's at least a chance. You see one of them,
uh is Mike McCarthy, will see what happens if they
don't make the postseason in Green Bay Um. And the
other one I keep an eye on is John Harbaugh.
I mean if John Harbaugh the Ravens, who are at
five right now, if they don't make the postseason, I
believe you have to look it up, but I think
it's like five the last six years they will have
not gone to the postseason, and that'll be the end
of Ozzy Newsom's tenure. Eric to Costa will take over

(01:08:38):
as the new general manager. That's already been set up.
And you know how it is a lot of times
you get a new general manager who want a chance
to go hire your own coach. Have them been to
the playoffs five the last six years? I could see that,
you know, kind of be in the end there. So
those are two names I kind of keep an eye
on for Cleveland and and no more experiments. Let's go
out and get somebody that's actually one. Yeah. The The
one thing though, is it is a copycat league, right,

(01:08:59):
And you know, whether it's Naggie or Sean McVeigh, these
young whipper snappers with all these fancy ideas. You know
that Jimmy hass Im sitting there going like, hey, look
it it's it's worked for so many other teams. And
offensive inventiveness worked in Philadelphia for Carson Wentz, work for
Jared Goff, seems to be working for Mitchell Drobiski, even
though I think he's the more limited of the three.

(01:09:20):
How about that pushback you're gonna get from your owner. Yeah, no,
I mean, look, that's been the that's been the thing
talking to folks around the league. Just feel like all
the hires are going to be offensive guys, because if
you don't hire an offensive guy, the defensive guys will
come in there and say, well, I can bring this
guy at the coordinator. Well, yeah, he's any good, he's
only gonna be here for a year, and somebody else
you can hire him as a head coach. Um. So,

(01:09:40):
you know, offensive minded guys definitely is what teams are
gonna lean more towards. Um. But the instinct name, you know,
the name that hasn't been thrown out there that's selfishly,
that would be would be so much fun. And I
don't know if it would be a disaster or not,
but I would like to see Dana Holgersson with with
a chance to work with with Mayfield. Will gonna be fun. Yeah.
I mean, like, look at some one of those air

(01:10:01):
raid guys. You got Lincoln. I don't think he's leaving Oklahoma. Yeah,
at least at least he can't do Leach. Although that
would be fun too. He couldn't do You couldn't do leach.
Kingsbury and Mayfield did not end on good terms and Uh,
Holgerson would be interesting. It would be it would be fast.
Never you've never heard his name mentioned one time with
an NFL job, I mean, nobody ever mentioned it, but man,

(01:10:23):
it would be un Yeah. And he maybe he may
be the best of all of them, considering his kind
of creativity and flair and uh, but but we we
shall see great stuff. D J, thanks so much for
joining us, Daniel Jeremiah joining us in the doug Otlip
Show here on Fox Sports Radio. Let's get you to
Dan Buyer find out if he's been released or traded

(01:10:44):
in the last You're stuck with Ned five minutes and
stay deadline is Yeah, I am going nowhere except to
a meeting after work. That's but hey, maybe that's got
something to do with it manager's meeting? Yes, how do
I I not have? Should I should? I like? And
don't get me wrong, I love the fact that at
this place of business, as opposed to one of my

(01:11:05):
other previous place, I don't have meetings. If the meeting
is usually like, man, that's not a good thing. But um,
should I be concerned that Ramos goes the meeting, Buyer
goes to the meeting. I don't go to the meeting. No,
don't be concerned at all. And you know what, if
you're doing something wrong, guess what, you'll get a phone call. Hey,
you're doing that wrong. Turn it around. Something's work. This

(01:11:25):
is the meaning where we go and we just talked
behind all the hosts back right, John, That's what we do.
You know, that's no meeting afterwards. Nobody's being traded, nobody's
being released, nothing like that. There were a bunch of
trades in the NFL. I know you just spoke with
Daniel Jeremiah about a bunch of them. Just to recap
if people missed it. Trade deadline past at four o'clock
Eastern time. It started out with the Broncos sending wide

(01:11:47):
receiver to Marius Thomas to the Texans for a fourth
and seventh rounder. The Eagles got Golden Tape from the
Lions for a third round pick. The Rams acquired defensive
end Dante Follower from Jacksonville for a third round pick
in twenty nineteen and a fifth rounder and twenty and
then the Packers making their two deals. Ha Ha Clinton Dix,
the safety goes to Washington for a fourth rounder. Running
back Time Montgomery, who fumbled Sunday against the Rams. He's

(01:12:09):
on his way to Baltimore for his seventh round pick
in t Seahawks released wide receiver Brandon Marshall. Seahawk sign
backer Michael Kendricks has been an eight games after pleading
guilty to insider trading charges. That means he can return
in Week fourteen against the Vikings, and there are reports yes,
he can return in Week fourteen against Minnesota. This is
like the most amazing story ever. Yeah, he's gonna be

(01:12:33):
sentenced coming up in January, I believe is the sentencing date.
But in the meantime he can continue to play football.
The Bills lost last night of the Patriots, and now
they may have lost starting quarterback Derrick Anderson suffering a concussion.
Report say that he will not start in Week nine
against the Bears, meaning Nathan Peterman would be the starting quarterback.

(01:12:54):
Bill's head coach Sean McDermott wouldn't confirm as much today,
except saying that Anderson at a concussion. Boston Bruin's take

(01:13:17):
but I do want to mention DJ Durkin back as
he had football coach at Maryland. He was placed on
administrative leave in mid August, but will be reinstated and
has expected to coach this Saturday. Also, athletic director Damon
Evans is remaining at Maryland. The two had been on
leave following the investigation into the program following the death
of player Jordan McNair. Yeah, at which which I mean,

(01:13:40):
it's a terrible story, right, terrible story. Um, And there
was it was a culture of fear, but not a
culture of it was that what was the other term? Um?
Look the Yeah, it wasn't It wasn't a toxic There
wasn't a toxic culture, but a culture of fear, which
I think reads a little bit differently. Are were there

(01:14:01):
things they were doing? They were odd? Yeah, apparently they
were watching animals kill each other. They had they were
showing videos of animals killing each other to certain players
to motivate them. To toughen them up. That's an odd
form of motivation. But again, is that something you want
to fire a guy over. I don't know. I mean

(01:14:21):
the you know, this is what happens in sports and
live people try and change. There's the whole let's change
the culture. We're too soft. And of course then the
strength and conditioning coach goes a little bit overboard. I
don't understand how the medical professionals allowed a kid who
is clearly suffering from something to go uh, you know,

(01:14:42):
to go so long without receiving the proper treatment. I
do not put that blame on the coach. I don't
unless the coach sat there and said don't treat him,
which is not what he's accused of doing, then I
don't really understand, you know. And and some of the
stuff can go bad. We had a player named Scott
Robisch who his brother Brett, was our starting center. His dad, Dave,

(01:15:04):
of course played in the NBA, played in Kansas, and
Scott during my second year, my junior year at Oklahoma State,
during Christmas break, we're having a run together. Somebody doesn't
make a time, then everybody keeps running. We kept running
so long we're everybody just stopped, like, we're not running
for him anymore. He's got to make his time. It's
called a five and fifty five up and back five
times and fifty five seconds. And we were calling him

(01:15:26):
every name in the book. Well, he was like, my
leg hurts. Were like, no, it's a little bit north
of your leg, right, that's what really hurts. And finally
he finished and made his time, but not after getting
a bunch of grief from all of us because we
were tired of running for him. Turns out the guy
had a stress fracture in his leg, and like nobody knew,
we felt terrible about it. Obviously, that's different than the
death of a player, which is an absolute tragedy. The

(01:15:49):
fact is that they're supposed to be a trainer that
steps in and goes, hey, this kid's not well. It's
not about his toughness. He's got to get treatment, and
the kid didn't. He was his body temperature reach One

he will be the next head coach of the Browns.

good in spite of the fact his offensive lines banged
up and he hasn't had Dalvin Cook most of the

(01:16:33):
year due to injury. Am I overselling how good Kirk
Cousins has been and not understanding what the contract means.
I think kirk Cousin is a very good player. I
think this this discussion always comes up, is he you
know where does good differentiates self from great? And I
think if you want to talk about great quarterbacks, rare air,
Hall of Fame type talents, guys and every yere you

(01:16:54):
suited up and you don't have a chance for a
Super Bowl, No, he's not there. That that's that's dedicated
to three, four or five guys in the NFL right now.
What usually separates those guys and their ability to play
in critical situations. Those guys dominate third down, those guys
dominate tight reds on. Those guys dominate and a half
in the games. But here's the other thing. Those guys
don't grow on tree correct. Who else was available? Maybe

(01:17:18):
Alex Smith? Who everyone outside of not as good as
Kirk Cousins. He's like a brother. He's not as good
as Kirk Cousins in terms of your ceiling for your offense,
how much you can expand your offense. Kirk Cousin expands
your offense more than most other guys. If you missed

This time, we like to play for you a portion
of a previous show on Fox Sport trade of Fox

(01:18:00):
Sports One. We call it What does the Fox Days?
Brought to you by Discover Card. We treat you like
you'd treat you. Here's Dan Patrick on who he thinks
who he thinks will be the next head coach of
the Cleveland Browns. This is how I think this all
plays out. It doesn't go well in Green Bay and
Mike McCarthy is out in Green Bay. He goes, I

(01:18:22):
don't know what his relationship is with John Dorsey, the
GM they're both Green Bay guys. Okay, then Mike McCarthy
will be your coach. I'm pretty sure Dorsey was part
of that. Okay, yeah, check that. But I thought there
was a relationship there. But if I connect the dots
and I have McCarthy, he and as Aaron Rodgers is
moving forward in his career, in the latter part of

(01:18:42):
his career, he's gonna want somebody else in there. You
don't have to be an insider to look at the
body language between those two are the comments that are
made publicly by Rogers. This isn't going to last. And
if you're Mike McCarthy and you're out in Green Bay
and John Dorsey's gonna want his guy, you bring in McCarthy,
who you know, offensive background, having worked with Rogers, and

(01:19:03):
now you get to work with Baker Mayfield j The
third that taste you number served up by Dan Patrick,
and of course it was echoed by Colin Cowherd earlier
today as well. Sounds like the same people are saying
the same things to Cowherd and Dan Patrick. I'll buy in.
Guys like to hire people they know and um, and

(01:19:25):
the idea of hiring somebody unproven. Hugh Jackson's proven proven
to not be a good head coach. Mike McCarthy has
proven to be a good head coach and proven to
be a pretty good play caller when he's done that. Um,
but we also don't know what Jimmy has them decides
as the owner. There's an expression in football, and it

(01:19:46):
works in basketball and baseball as well, but especially in football,
and it goes like this owners own, what does that mean?
Jimmy has some a perfect example that back when they
drafted Johnny Menzel, they had an analytic staff, highly paid one,
and they want to analyze who the best quarterback to
take was, and the analytics staff said Teddy Bridgewater. So

(01:20:08):
they thought about taking Teddy Bridgewater, couldn't decide what to do.
End up, remember has some got the The story goes
got a suggestion from a bum, And of course I'm
sure the marketing department said, we can sell a whole
lot of gear, fill up the stadium and be exciting
if we hire. If we signed Johnny Manzel, the coaches
didn't want it, front office didn't want it. But Jimmy
has them wanted it. You know who wrote the big

(01:20:29):
check to own the the Cleveland Browns. Jimmy has them.
And so they drafted Johnny Manzel and it ended in
complete and utter disaster. But has some could do it
because owners own they make the final call. So this
all makes sense for Dorsey, and it makes sense in
terms of bringing somebody who has credibility. But there's a
bunch of things that have to happen. One is the

(01:20:50):
Packers have to either not make the playoffs or get
eliminated early in the playoffs. Two, he's got to be fired.
Three Dorsey has to be willing to wait that long
to see this thing through. And for Jimmy Hasslim has
to decide that he's going to allow John Dorsey to
make that higher. This is Colin Cowhard on why Lincoln
Riley wouldn't leave Oklahoma. Lincoln Riley all his quarterbacks are good.

(01:21:14):
How do we know that Lincoln Riley looks at Baker
Mayfield and goes, Yeah, that's who I'd want is my
NFL quarterback. He probably looks at Russell Wilson, he probably
looks at Aaron Rodgers, Carson Wentz. I mean Lincoln Riley
his obviously been great for Baker's career. Baker was a
walk on, couldn't get a starting scholarship. How do we
know that Baker is so great for Lincoln Riley's career,

(01:21:35):
especially in the NFL. Kyler Murray is the new quarterback
in Oklahoma through eight games. Compared Baker last year to
this new kid, Kyler Murray, Kylor Murray's numbers are better.
Lincoln Riley would never say it publicly. Kyler Murray maybe
a better fit for him in college than Baker. Every
quarterback Lincoln Riley's had in his entire coaching career, they're

(01:21:56):
all stars. Lincoln Riley's a smart guy. How do we
know he looks at Baker and goes, that's the guy
I want to tie my career to um. Look, I
think there's some of that. I also think there's two
other factors, one either college guy or a pro guy, right,
and Lincoln Riley has never shown himself to being a
pro guy. He just isn't. The Cliff Kingsbury would make

(01:22:20):
more sense if not for the fact that he and
Mayfield did not end on great terms when Mayfield left.
Of course, Mayfield ultimately was replaced by Pat Mahomes as
well as Davis Webb. But the fact is that Kingsbury
has spent time in the NFL as more NFL knowledge
and the idea that Lincoln Riley is going to come
straight out of coach, being a head coach for a

(01:22:40):
year and a half in college and being a head
coach to Cleveland Brown that's a lot. But also there's
a college guy and a pro guy. The other part
that's changed is college guys make so much more money
now than you used to. There used to just be
a limitation on what you can make. And when you're
Lincoln Riley and you can be in a place where
you're really comfortable and you can make five or six
million dollars a year working for arguably the best out
director in college sports, you don't feel the need to leave.

(01:23:04):
Scott Austin Kendall a young guy who will replace Kyler
Murray when Murray goes and plays baseball. So I don't
see him leaving either, And I see the dysfunction all
the coaching changes in Cleveland as well as being not
being a pro guy. The reason why we'll turn to
the NBA up coming next. I have a hypotheses on

(01:23:25):
what the Warriors are going to do to keep themselves engaged,
and it's playing out as such. Will be joined by
Chris Mannix will tell me if I'm crazy. That's up
coming next to The Doug Gotlip Show, Fox Sports Radio.

Search f s R to listen live. What Up Doug
Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio. M m m m m
m m m m m m m m m m
m m mmm. UM. I've got a chance to do
a lot of really cool things. Do you guys know

(01:24:10):
I'm the only man to ever guest host Stephen A.
Smith's old TV show? Quite frankly, do you know that?
It's true? True story? True story? Um? I bring that
up because I got another really cool thing I'm doing.
Have I told you this, Ramos, I'm calling a an
NFL game on radio. No, you have not. That sounds

(01:24:32):
like lots of fun. Play by you're the play by play.
I've literally never done play by play, so I'm not
even gonna tell you the person who called me and
asked me if I wanted to fulfill this obligation and
take this opportunity, and you said yes. I'm sure I
said yes a heartbeat. And by the way, can I
just say really fast that you did a wonderful job.

(01:24:53):
I didn't get a chance to say with a sideline
reporting into that game. It was really really like good,
I appremely good. Actually, I appreciate that they walk on
and I'm I'm hoping that you're being honest more than
being a friend. No, no, no, extremely honest. I I
look at things with different lenses a lot of times,
and so I'm really critical of certain things and bifocals,

(01:25:14):
I think. So I'm getting anyway, I'm getting to do
an NFL game on radio for Compass Radio. I'm gonna
get to work with Brian Baldinger, who we have on
the show, so he'll be able to carry me if
I don't know I'm doing right, Dalton back to past
looking looking hey, j Green opening the inn, touchdown Bagels.

(01:25:34):
That's the who day versus who? Dat don't get I'll
explain which is the who day and which is the
who dat anyway week from Sundays, it would be great anyway.
I was. I was having this discussion with a friend
of mine the other day and I was like, look,
I really am enjoying working at Fox, because you know,
I've done these I've gotten to work for Stadium and

(01:25:54):
do the being a host of football show, um, getting
do play by play for the NFL, sideline for the NFL,
and of course basketball duties, and getting to work at
all these different TV shows. On my radio show, a
guest host for Dan Patrick, our next guest Chris Bannocks
gets the guest host forum as well, UM, and then
of course guest hosting for Coward. I like it because

(01:26:17):
keeps me engaged, right, Like I've been doing this. It's
like over ten years doing my own show from three
to six Eastern time at ESPN and CBS Radio. Now
here at Fox Sports Radio. I mean in fifteen years
of National Sports Radio, actually sixteen years now. And so look,
whether it's work a d D, I just I don't

(01:26:38):
know if I could be somebody who does one thing
for the rest of my life. I watch what the
Warriors are doing this year, and I'm like, I think
they figured it out now. They may be a running
out of things to try, But between Steath dropping fifty
then Durant dropping fifty, they have ninety two in the
first half and Clay Thompson, who'd been struggling with the

(01:27:00):
shot all season long, having an NBA record four teen
three pointers. It's more than just going with the hot hand.
It's like, I feel like the Warriors are trying to
keep themselves engaged by trying different ways of accomplishing the
same tasks. Bringing Chris Mannox from Yahoo Sports to join
us on The Doug Gottlieb Show, is that a crazy

(01:27:22):
way to look at how the Warriors are going to
be more interested this year in the regular season than
they were last year. No, it's not crazy. Um, you
know there there in being in all that couple of
their games, Doug and I was at the two in
New York this past weekend, and you know, talking to
coaches that have played against them, the one thing that
they have consistently said is that they just seemed to

(01:27:45):
enjoy each other more this year than they did last year. Now,
I don't know what the you know, maybe that's this
early season thing or um, I don't know what would
have changed, but they just seems to be a lot
more everything season, more free flowing, and they seem to
be more connected, at least early on, uh, this season.
I had one scout that said to me, you know, suggested,

(01:28:06):
maybe they know they've decided this is how they're going
to address the Durant stuff. Where it's like, you know,
if if Durant's gone, he's gone. We're going to enjoy
this this last run uh kind of together. But for
whatever reason, they seem to be more connected this year
than they were last year. Yeah, it's it's fascinating what
you mentioned watching those games. You were at the game
at the garden. Can you describe because it has gotten

(01:28:29):
we had the World Series going on, huge college football weekend,
and of course the NFL just kind of overwhelms everybody.
You got early games with London, how many were they
down heading in the fourth quarter they were down three
and one by eight, so ridiculous, and then how many
Durant having the fourth quarter in that fourth and you
know one thing that you notice watching a lot of

(01:28:51):
Durants and contrasted with Clay Thompson, I mean, Clay Thompson
gets most of his points off plays, right, I mean
he's coming off screens, he's um just doing a bunch
of different things within the offense. You watch Durant play
and especially that fourth quarter, nothing he gets is really
off of play. It's not necessarily a broken down play
that he takes the ball and goes but I mean,

(01:29:13):
how many times does it just it finds its way
to him and he goes into some sort of isolation
and just beat you with his talent. I mean, I
don't know how you gave this or what what kind
of rank can you do with it? But in terms
of like pure scores that get their points off individual
plays only, I mean, Durant has to be right up
there at the top of the list of players that

(01:29:33):
can do. It's uncanny what he can do, uh, you know,
with with no type of offense being run for him.
It really is uncanny. That's the voice of Chris Mannix
joins us on The Doug Gotlip Show on Fox Sports Radio.
So what about the idea of New York and and look,
my my reaction is there's a lot of the New
York discussion, which does make some sense, But the idea

(01:29:54):
this is not like a Kevin This is not like
a Lebron James thing where I don't think he even
knows how he's going to feel at the end of
this year. Uh, it feels a little bit premature. You
were there, you're reading body language, you know the league.
What do you think about the New York groomers with Durant?
I mean, I think they're legitimate. Um. I think one
thing's for sure, Kevin Durant is going to have a

(01:30:17):
real free agency this summer. Um. You know, last summer
it was just you know, signed the new deal. I
think he's going to whether it's taking meetings, you know
in the Hamptons again, or you know, going to visit teams.
I think there'll be a real free agent process as
he decides, you know, what's important to him. And you know, look,
the if he finishes this year, he's basically going to

(01:30:39):
have a blank slink. He's gonna be thirty years old
when he hits free agency and probably have free championships,
so his championship legacy is secure and he can start
looking if he wants to at different things. And I
think one of the reasons New York is so appealing
is as as you and I both know you win
in New York. It's you know, one championship there is,

(01:31:00):
we're three or four somewhere else. It's just it would
just be something spectacular for him to do. And I
think that's going to be a big variable. And all
this Chris mannocks joining us in the Doug Gotlip Show
on Fox Sports Radio. Um, yeah, the the I look,
everyone's tried to solve the New York puzzle, right, And
I get that Fisdale and the owners staying out of it,
and there's better front office management. But I mean, how

(01:31:22):
many big names from Larry Brown to pat Riley to
you know, you name it, as well as players Carmelo Anthony,
you go through a list of guys who have tried
to solve that New York puzzle. That that that just
seems like something that so many have tried and so
many have failed with. Yeah. I mean, look, that's you know,
right up there in the you know, the first entry

(01:31:43):
in the column of why not to go? And I
mean that the Nicks they're starting lineup against Golden State.
I mean, if Duran's looking at that, and you know,
looking at his would be teammates, he's kind of gotta
be shaking his head a little bit he but Mitchell
Robinson's that the Neila Keene is and just a very
average group of guys. I mean, I think it's going
to be incumbent on the Knicks, whether it's be a
trade this season or clearing cap space next extra cap

(01:32:07):
space this summer, to have the flexibility and the ability
to go get somebody to come play with him. I
don't know who it is, Probably not Kyrie Irving, maybe
Jimmy Butler. I don't know who it would be, but
I think if you can clear enough caps, which is possible,
by the way, to get two guys to come in
along with Kristaps porzingis that's the only way I can
see it being truly appealing to Kevin Durant. Lebron James

(01:32:30):
was kind of a cryptic quote yesterday, and and all
the Lebron James quotes seemed to be cryptic, you know, like, uh,
you don't want to be around when my patients runs out.
How's it going so far in l A with Lebron
and his new crew? It's going like I expected it, Doug.
I mean, I don't know where you stood on them.
Uh coming into the season playoff team number of wins

(01:32:51):
I didn't think they make the playoffs, and you know,
it's part of just putting a team together on the
fly that really gets a lot of success. I never
bought into the whole beat like the Ark Gona making
the playoffs is well, they won, you know, thirty something
games last year. Lebron's worth ten to fifteen more. That's
that's not how it works with a team that's kind
of put together in the way the Lakers are put together.

(01:33:11):
The two things you have to look at our defense,
which they don't play any of, and three point shooting,
which they don't do particularly well. You can't be bad
at both those things and expect to be a playoff
team in the Western Conference. So unless one of those
two markedly improves and the three point shooting could pick up,
they've got some guys underachieving in that area. But the defense,
there's not a lot of plus defenders there. I don't

(01:33:34):
think they're they're going to have much more than success, wow,
much more than five I'll tell you. Look the the
couple of thoughts that I thought they would be a
little bit better. I still think they're trying to figure
out the lineups, and the suspension didn't help as they're
trying to figure out who to play Ingram with and
when to use ball. They didn't use ball in the
fourth quarter late yesterday at all, which I thought was

(01:33:55):
a mistake because even though Rondo is better, uh defensively
all around, he can't shoot. Whereas Alonzo has shown the
ability to catch and shoot and make some open shots.
Rondo won't even look at a jump shot. But um,
I did think that they would get everybody's best effort,
you know, kind of like you know, sometimes the Warriors
will get like they're they're now your big game, and

(01:34:15):
I thought they got that. Jimmy Butler looked like Jimmy
Butler all star. I want to show the world I'm
a superstar last night hitting three fourth quarter three's, including
the game clincher last night. And I think that's one
thing that they maybe they didn't understand or didn't plan for.
That's got to be frustrating Lebron. He's used to dealing
with this, and the rest of his players are not. Yeah,
I mean, look absolutely, um. You know, the Lakers, even

(01:34:36):
though they're not of the Warrior's talent, are going to
get a Warrior's mindset from teams as they come in
and or they play l A wherever that may be.
That's that's gonna happen all season long. You mentioned the
Rondo Alonso stuff, and you know, this is what I
thought was gonna happen too, in terms of fourth quarter
and who's out there. And I wonder how much influence
Lebron James has on who's on the floor at end

(01:34:58):
of games situations, because if he does have influenced Rondo
makes sense. I mean, Rondo can't shoot, but Lebron wants
guys out there he can trust, and Rondo at this
point is the guy because of his i Q and
because of his experience that I would gather. You know,
Lebron clearly trust, while Alonzo isn't all the way there yet.
So I think there's a lot of issues that need
to be worked out. And look, they're gonna get it

(01:35:20):
together at some point, like they're gonna win eight out
of ten in January and February. The question is how
deep in the whole are they when they finally start
to get it. If they're around five Christmas, I don't
think they can make up the gap that's gonna be there.
To make a plot. Chris Mannox join us on Fox
Sports Radio. Tyler six games and gone without insider information.

(01:35:41):
Feels like they wanted to tank and he was tanks
but no tanks. Is it that simple? Is there something
more that leads a guy who has been to three
straight finals to be shown the door so soon? I
think more or less it was exactly that. Um, you
know their DRAFTI situation. I believe you have to check
me on this, but it's you know, they if they loose,

(01:36:02):
if it's under ten, they get to keep it. If
it's over ten, they could go to somebody else. Um,
and look, they they want to play their younger guys.
And Tyler has a strong allegiance uh to the veteran
players out there, so he's not gonna burn you know,
Colin Sexton thirty five minutes per game when he thinks
George Hill can help him win, He's not gonna leave
j R. Smith of the bench. He's loyal to these guys,

(01:36:23):
and as you saw it with all the Instagram posts,
they're loyal to him right back. But I think that's
what it boils down to. They want him. If they
were going down, they were gonna go down playing the
younger guys. And Tyler wasn't wasn't down for that. And
you know, in addition that, you know, you see the
Kevin Love injury, and it makes it even more nutty
that they gave him all those years in that deal.
Like the argument that Kevin Love would become more tradeable

(01:36:46):
because he's under contract for what four more years? Was?
It just never made any sense to me. Now still there,
they've got Kevin and he's he's banged up with the
foot injury, and do they think about trading him? What
is his value? I mean, they're just they're in a
bad spot right now. C Books are the Bucks. The
best team in the Easters is still the Celtics. I mean,
right now we can call it Milwaukee, but you know

(01:37:06):
I'm in Boston right now for the business game tonight. Yeah,
the Selis will figure it out, like they're just way
too good not to to figure out whose role goes
where and to stop deferring to each other a little
bit too much. Milwaukee, though, is fascinating because you know,
there's there's there's a comparison here to Golden State in
that Mike Budenholzer might be too, you know, to the

(01:37:28):
Bucks with Steve Kerr was the Golden States. You know,
Mark Jackson took them to a certain point. Same thing
with Jason Kidd. But you bring in a high level
coach and say what you want about buddenholzers GMing skills,
they weren't great. He is an elite you know, X
and OS strategy type of coach. So you combine that
with the right offseason moves bringing in shooters, Brook Lopez

(01:37:48):
space on the floor. Um, another year of Janese's growth.
I mean they're gonna be right there with Toronto and
Boston and probably Philly at the end of the season.
We'll see they take on Boston on the road and
then they had to the US Coast road swing to
start playing. Uh. Some pretty good teams playoff teams in
Portland and Golden State next week. Chris Mannis Check him

the Bears a found, right, Uh, an inventive, offensive minded
head coach that can immediately turn things around. That's what's
happened in Chicago. We'll catch up with Bears running back

(01:38:32):
Jordan Howard. Has he finally figured out his role in
the bears new offense. We'll ask him he joined us next.

Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio. I got a lot
of questions about the Bears, the team I got a
chance to see against the Miami Dolphins overtime affair. Uh,
they travel to Buffalo upcoming next. You think Buffalo, you
think bad Whether you think running the football, you think

(01:39:15):
the Bears, you think running the football? You think our
next guest, see what we did there. Jordan Howard joins
is from the Bears for in three first place in
the NFC North. Jordan, how are you? I'm really really good? Um?
Look first, how much you're getting ready to play the Bills?
Do you watch Monday Night Football? Mean? Can you, like
all of us kind of civilians, we watch because we

(01:39:39):
want to. We want to we're into the game. But
you can watch the All twenty two? Does that help
you get prepared in any way by watching the over
air broadcast? Um? No, I'm not really cul like just
watching the game on TV on watching the light as
a fan, like just looking for a good game. But
luckily that's what we have means and stuff, war and
film and things like that, so we can just focus

(01:39:59):
in on things. Jordan, how are joining us in the
Doug Gotlip Show on Fox Sports Radio. When when Naggie
got the job, what was your first sense of what
your role would be with the team? Um? My role
will stick on us somebody green hundred. Um he led
the league in Russian. I know they are very first
offense in Kansas City or two thousand receivers, thousand yard back,

(01:40:24):
four thousand yard past, and so I felt like the
offense is gonna be, uh, very explosive and it was
gonna split the ball around a lot. What's different about
it than you thought after you first met him? Um?
Not not much. Really, I expect to be pretty explosives,
being pretty explosive recently. We're still it's still a new
offense for all of us, and uh, we're still a

(01:40:44):
lot of young guys and we're still just growing, so
we can only get better. You know, you go back
to the previous regime and they used you a ton, right,
I mean, two hundred seventy six two seventy six carries.
That's a lot. Like, I know, you want to get
fed the ball, but that's a lot of pounding on
a young body. Does this style of offense does it

(01:41:04):
elongate kind of your your the amount of time you
can be successful in the league. Because you put Cohen
back there, there's different ways in which you're used, so
you're not just lining up and grinding it right to
the heart of the defense. I mean, I definite feel
like it helps as long as my career and stuff
like that, because a lot of times I'd like to
be a fieldsical running back. I take us a lot
of contact, just mean in the trench and stuff like that,

(01:41:24):
So I feel like doing more with less will definitely
help elongate my career. On the other hand, you like
running for a thousand yards more than where you where
you are? How do you balance a how do you
balance last the last two years, you had great statistical success,
but the team wasn't that good. Now the team's doing well,
but you're not having as much personal success. How do
you balance that in your own mind? Um? Balancing in

(01:41:47):
my own mind? It's pretty easy because, uh, although I
was having to says, I wanted to win more than
I want to have a personal success. So I don't
have it that we're winning. Uh been a while since
we want with the bear, So I just want to
keep that going and I let the uh stats and
stuff hand of this. So okay, I want to make
sure though, were you be honest with this? Were you
cautious about looking your phone today? Like, man, dudes get

(01:42:09):
moved all the time here. You never know in this league.
Did you have any any thought that maybe maybe you
get moved? Um, I'm not really but like like you said,
you never know in this league, in football anything camp,
so I never really know. But I wasn't really too
worried about being being moved. Doug Otlip Show, Fox Sports Radio.

(01:42:30):
Did you when when Mitch walked in with the Ditka sweater?
Did you know that that was a Ditka sweater or
did people have to go like, hey, that's the same
type of sweater that Mike Ditka used to wear. Oh no,
I definitely know just as much history I know about football.
I knew as I might did this. What other people
they might have might not have known, But I definitely
know what was Did you do you guys? Laugh? Well,

(01:42:51):
what did you guys do? Um? Actually, I didn't see
it to uh. I I supposed the game interview, so
I didn't know he had it all to supposed to do.
And I had to laugh at that. Doug gotlip show
here on Fox Sports Radio, Jordan Howard joining us the
Bears for four and three first place, and they only
got to win against the Jets. It did so without
Khalil Mack. What does it show you about this team

(01:43:12):
or about the defense that you know so much have
been about Khalil the first four weeks of the season,
all those strip sacks uh in succession, that your defense
can play that well and not have Khalil on him? Um,
I said, I think people forget how good our defense
was last year and Kalia he's made the defensive even
even better. But I we still have a lot of
time the guys on defense and uh, he was out

(01:43:35):
for a lot of guys. He stepped up and he
held it down. Are you doing anything for Halloween? No,
I'm not nothing, Frank uh in Alabama down. You grew
up in Gardendale, right, I went to school over two years,
but I grew up in Birmingham, Bermingha. All right, so
you grew up in Birmingham, would you Halloween? Because look
when I grew up, I remember I was I was

(01:43:57):
like peewee football. We used to always go as football players.
You get done for practice, You just use your helmet.
You don't even need a sack to collect candy. What
do you remember about Birmingham growing up as a kid Halloween? Um,
I don't think I really remember just getting a lot
of candy. So that's like I don't even remember like
my costumes, but I definitely remember all the candy. I
guy favorite candy is what recently well not recent peces.

(01:44:20):
There is a difference though, right, Like you're either a
piece of guy or a cup. It's you ever had
the pieces with popcorn like hot popcorn? Mix it with
with with the pieces you ever done that? No, I
don't think I want to start. Uh, it's big time,
big time, Okay. Most important thing. Are you a fan
of scary movies? Oh yeah, definitely a lot of them

(01:44:41):
are pretty predictable. So I al really feel like I
don't really get why people are scared, and then a
lot of stuff is like unrealistic. Well, of course it's unrealistic.
People murdering other people is fairly fair unrealistic. I just
I don't know. It just frightens the helm I had.
I remember Halloween used to be on when I was
a kid. I know they remade Halloween and I couldn't
sleep for weeks. I just not a I'm not a

(01:45:01):
guy that can watch a scary movie. No, I didn't bottom,
but I do need to go check out the new Halloween.
I heard it pretty decent. Favorite scary movie of all
time is what favorite scary movie? Definitely one of the
Halloween because in there the Halloween, they're always pretty good.
Why do they always kill the brothers early in the
scary movies? Why does that always happen? I have no clue,

(01:45:23):
Just like I feel like this the storyline, they won't
always Jordan, listen, I have a happy Halloween. Save travels
the Buffalo No, no, no, those Buffalo fans are crazy.
Don't say it on air, but you're aware of some
of the items that were thrown on the field last night. Yeah,
I think there's only against the pages, though they said
it's only against the pages. So I don't feel like
we have anything to worry about. What I know. But

(01:45:44):
if you go into the end zone you see one
of those items sitting there, you're like, you're about to celebrate.
You see one of those laying at your feet, Like,
what do you do? Do you pick it up and
throw it back in? Do you away? Just kicking away?
Just avoided Hey man, Ape Travels, best of luck, thanks
for joining. Congratulations on the first place start of this season.

(01:46:05):
Thank you, thank you all right. Jordan Howard joining us
in the Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio at over
radiards rushing like it's it's interesting. He's like, look, Kareem
Hunt led the league in rushing, same offense. Why can't
I music? Are you a scaring me? Movie? A movie guy?
They don't really bother me, But I don't have a
particular affinity for them, and my fiance scares easy, so

(01:46:29):
I haven't watched one in a couple of years. The
Poult guys. When I was a kid, scared the hell
out of me. Halloween scared the hell out of me,
Friday the thirteenth scared to hell of me. And I've
watched all these movies. The one that scared was like dumb,
I did never got the Freddy Krugrel. The one that
scared me for all time, and it's gonna sound ridiculous,
but it was Hitchcock's The Birds. I remember watching that

(01:46:50):
when I was like six at my Grandma's house, and
I was like, terrified of birds. That's a that's a
that's a scary one. Ramos, who was our resident cinophile,
our movie expert, are you a scary movie guy? I
enjoy them a little bit less now than I did
when I was younger. Like you, I watched all the
Halloween having kids having kids his heart. Yeah, so I don't,

(01:47:11):
but occasionally I might. Got like it. It came on
HBO and I kind of watched the first five minutes.
I changed. I changed. I think it like listen, I
used to love Law and Order SVU. I know that's
not a horror movie. Okay, I'm not. You're like gotta
you're an idiot, hold on, But it's just the idea
of people doing things to women and children, and I

(01:47:35):
know it happens. Like I'm not an ostrich. Okay, I
just I don't like that kind of fiction on my television.
I don't need it. There's enough scary things in real life.
So for the record, I am not a scary movie guy.
I will never pay money. The last really scary movie
I watched was in fact um Scream, and the opening

(01:47:57):
scheme seems scared the piss out of me. Just I
can't explain it any on any other way. Did you
guys dump that? You have to dump that? Sorry, it's
scared the bodily fluids out of my lower abdomen. Better
way of saying it. Let's get to Dan Buyer. Danny's

(01:48:17):
a scary movie again? No, not at all. Yeah, I
think you know we like listen, we can separate the
world into three different categories. Right. There's I never want
to watch I'd never watch scary movies. There's like I've
watched them, I don't like, I don't really enjoy them.
There's like, dude, I love every single one of them.
The Purge also just sounds like an awful You like that.
I like the purge. That was pretty good. Yeah, I

(01:48:39):
liked all of them. If you're gonna have to purge
somebody from the crew promost, you gotta off one person
out of the crew, who's it gonna be? I flee
the fifth? The intern? He's the fifth if he's got
a whole life to look forward to, the youngest of
us by like five years, six years? What got I

(01:49:01):
have got? News to the National Football League, the trade
deadline has passed five deals done in all today, the
Packers doing two of those trades, sending running back Time
Montgomery to the Ravens for a seventh round pick in
They also sent safety Haha Clinton Dicks to the Redskins
for a fourth round pick next year, Dante follow Junior
leaving Jacksonville as the defensive end. Now we'll join the

(01:49:22):
l A Rams. The Rams gave up a third round
pick in twenty nineteen and a fifth rounder in earlier
today Golden Tape dealt by the Lions to the Eagles
for a third rounder. The Broadcast traded five time Pro
bowler da Marius Thomas to the Texans for a fourth
round pick in the team's swapped seventh rounders elsewhere the
National Football League eleven year NFL VET corner Dominique Rodgers

(01:49:45):
Cremarty retiring from the game. Seahawks released wide receiver. Yeah.
I didn't didn't play against the Colts this past weekend,
but was a member of the Raiders and just decided
to call it quits after eleven years. Halftime, right, I'm
out halftime. I got nothing. Goodbye, that did not happen.
He waited at least until today to do so. Didn't

(01:50:06):
play against the Colts, as I said, but now just
calling it quits. Maryland Board of Regent's recommending keeping head
football coach d J. Durkin following their investigation into the
football program following the death of football player Jordan McNair
this offseason. The Board of Regents also recommended that athletic
director Damon Evans retained his job. School president Wallace Lowell

(01:50:27):
plans to retire next June. Those announcements made today. Doug
Doug Gottli show Fox Sports Radio Buyer, what's your favorite candy?
Like a candy bar? I didn't put any sort of
I didn't put any sort of contextual Your favorite candy
is what I like. Uh, I like a toffee bar.

(01:50:49):
Like the Symphony candy bar was my favorite. I don't
simply it's not like he's like a heath yeah, kind
of heath bar. It's got toffee and almonds in it. Um.
Now Here's one of the things about having obscure bar
is like that, as you never get those at Halloween.
If you get sweethearts, uh, you might get a little
box of Mike and Ikes for hot Molly's right. You
get some lemon heads as well. You get some nerves. Then. Yeah,

(01:51:11):
I was gonna say, strawberry and grape nerds are my Nertsure,
nerds are underrated, but we only eat them around Halloween
because it's the only time anybody ever, nobody, nobody goes
and buys nerds, I guess, with exception of you. Yeah,
I go strawberry, eat all the strawberry first, and then
I go to grape. Um. Okay, ramos, what are you?
What are you passing out tomorrow? Uh? Hershey bars? How big?

(01:51:34):
Just a little ones well hard to see on radio special.
Just a little ones he's doing he's doing the inch thing,
he's doing, he's doing the thing. Just just a little
ones special special dark or you just doing like the
non obviously nuts is not a good thing, I guess
to put in there for the kids that you don't
know if they're allergic germ or not. Yeah, you don't
want to be like, yeah, listen, my kid was how

(01:51:56):
did your sow'd your daughter? Why did your daughter end
up in the hospital? Ramos is how John Romos was
works for sports radio. He thought it was a good
idea to conclude peanuts in in the candy bars. What
about you their music? I know you're not passing out
candy tomorrow, are you. I don't know. I don't know
exactly what the plan is. Yeah, okay, so you have

(01:52:17):
Now are you guys living together? Now? We are living
at her parents house while we look for our own house.
You both got you've both gotten out of the apartments, right,
you're saving money? Yes, and you're living together with the
parents at the parents house. Separate rooms or same room
the same room. Wait a second, the whole show change

(01:52:38):
for the next twenty four minutes. Okay, okay, okay, okay,
okaycare now, just just so people know, um, Ryan Music
is happily engaged to his fiance fiance. I didn't even
like this is one of those did he mention it
to you? Ramos, did you know this? I did not

(01:52:58):
know that they were living together. No, I didn't know
that part. Yeah at the parents house, yes, by or
did you know this? This is news to me? He
tells to keep this one hotly to himself. Now the
father in law has been super super cool, right, absolutely, great? Great, dude, great,
But like, okay, first thing is do you always have

(01:53:20):
to walk around like dressed like it's you're in your
somebody else's home. Yeah, pretty much, that's how that works.
But you don't have to buy food, right, so you
you come home, you just open up the fridge and
you just like it depends. Um. You know, her mother
no longer works, so I'll just talk to her about

(01:53:41):
what the plan is. Sometimes I'll pick something up, like
when you wake up there, like Ryan, we made you
some pancakes and some waffles. I touch you'd enjoy that. No,
I am usually gone before that because I wake up
and go to the gym before work. You gotta get big, yeah,
I got. I gotta go about that. I got it's
a protein. It's protein. Got its protein. This been from
the guy who fancies himself healthy and fit as well.

(01:54:03):
I do. I'm just saying I I this is a
this is an unusable mead here. No, I'm just that
you you like, I go to the gym before anybody
else is up, you know, I gotta go get I
gotta get paid. You asked the question, um, and then
what about the very obvious question that I can't ask
fully but I gotta ask, like in some way, like

(01:54:25):
how does that? How does the how does the romantic
part work? Like? Yeah? Can you struggle on the couch
like that? I would say, Um, you know there are
sacrifices you make in the short term for the long
term plan of it. Mm hmm. Okay, what's the what

(01:54:47):
is the timeline of finding your own plate? Like? Is it?
Because I actually like the idea of saving money? I
think it's brilliant idea. Yeah, I mean there's no specific time.
This is her the room she grew up in. Uh,
it's the same house, but a for room because the
one where in now is larger than the one that
she used to What size bed? King? Okay, that's good,
you got that's good king practice. Now you realize whatever

(01:55:09):
side of the bed you sleep on now you're gonna
sleep on for the rest? Yes, so did you have
to change sides of the bed? Was good with whatever,
So I just let her choose. Okay, what what's one
annoying habit she has that you've discovered since living in
sin She leaves her towel on the floor after getting
out of the shower, and I always tell her, I
gotta pick that up. You tell her you gotta pick

(01:55:30):
that up. Why? Why? Because I don't want towels on
the floor. You gotta do the you gotta do the
tripping thing, like, oh my god, I almost broke my neck.
What you gotta do? Um, first and very important piece
of advice is do not, under any circumstances properly folded
laundry because you know what happened. Because she doesn't, so well,

(01:55:50):
then she's the smart one. Yeah, here's my one. I'm
all thumbs. I don't know, I don't know what. When
you can't do something, well, you know that you say
I'm all thumbs. I love to do this. I'm just
all thumbs. I'm clumsy. That's the way of saying I'm clumsy.
This is I could go for. I have so many questions.
Can I ask you go. So if you want to

(01:56:12):
go out with your guy friends, can you just leave
her at home? Is that cool? Or does she also
then have to have something going on with her friends.
Are you able to leave independently or just do everything
with her? YEA, yeah, I mean I think it's just
a case by case basis, Like if it's something that's
specifically like I know that she's not going to be

(01:56:33):
like wanting to go to the bar to like watch
a game or something, right, like we used to sell Tuesdays.
What was the strip club Tuesdays? We used to do
ramos Tuesdays. Tuesdays is out. It's it's out for now,
you know, we'll see after we get married. So something
like that, Dan, I would be like, hey, we're planning
to do this, and should just be like okay, yeah,

(01:56:54):
go ahead. Other things will be more like oh yeah,
if you you know, if you don't have plans with
your friends, then come on with yeah, I don't know
if you noticed. And he has actually one of those
um ankle bracelet things that they have honors um yeah
that and that's not from but she didn't get the
shock on it. I would have paid double to not
live with my future in laws. I love him to death,

(01:57:16):
but I just you know I would have it just
that would not be my thing. I I'm kudos Tea
for doing it. I could not. We we did it
for one week. One week. So what happened was, I
was we gotting married August twelve, two thousand, Ponca City, Oklahoma.
And I was supposed to go play on a team
that was training in Italy, and we're gonna play our
home games in Russia, and we were leaving. We're gonna

(01:57:38):
leave from Chicago. So we did. We went into the
Cubs game. We toward the city, a nice hotel, great restaurants,
and I go and have dinner lunch with my agent
and he's like, hey, good news. Training camps been postponed
two weeks. You guys should go have a great honeymoon.
I'm like, I mean good Like I can't play a honeymoon.
I'm in Chicago with no money. We flew back to Oklahoma.
Parents live in drum Right. I actually worked on her

(01:57:59):
crew and built a retaining wall to make a little
bit of have a little bit of side change and
worked out in the morning retaining wall, playball at night.
And we lived with her her parents for like a
week and they're super nice and the meals being ready,
But first week of being married, living with your in
laws wouldn't recommend it. So that's why that's what we're

(01:58:20):
trying to reverse. We're doing that on the front end.
That way, it's sorted out before that, right right, some
headboard issues at times. Um A ton of movement in
the National Football League will break it down for you next.

Coach Sel tomorrow, Plus we have Josh Reynolds your boy

(01:59:04):
Ramos Wide Receiver l A Rams. They get ready for
the Saints upcoming. That should be a Titanic showdown. Did
you know they're making what a new ship called the
Titanic Titanic two? Who does that? All? Right? Do we
are they getting built? Is there another blimp called uh Hindenburgh,

(01:59:26):
I mean Hindenburg too. This one won't catch on fire?
All right? That seems it seems cruel and unusual in
terms of naming. Let's get to the press. The press
Press is brought to you by Discover. We treat you
like you'd treat you, Dan Buyer, treat me to as
many stories you can invite, all right. The green Bay
Packers today traded a running back Time Montgomery to the

(01:59:48):
Baltimore Ravens for a seventh round pick in green Bay
also dealt safety ha Ha Clinton Dick's to the Redskins
for a fourth round or and all five players traded
today prior to the nf felt trade deadline. Um, by
the way, I love that Buck forty or four tier,
depending on where he's from, said uh Doug in the

(02:00:09):
last hour's reference Brothers Diane first in horror movies. Um,
let's just say flying objects on the field last night
and headboard issues with Ryan living with his and their
future in laws. By the way, they are not yet married.
This show is not for California snowflakes. Look, it's just
with our show, is what we do. We had no

(02:00:30):
idea that this is where, you know, Ryan felt a
little bit weird about living with the in laws. He
hasn't mentioned it to anybody. The idea that we find
out on air. How long has this been taking place, Ryan, Uh,
A couple of months. Yeah, and we just now found
out about all right, what else you got there by Well,
we've got some news out of New York Giants backup
quarterback Kyle A. Letter arrested this morning on a traffic violation,

(02:00:55):
actually multiple violations, after he failed to well Bay police
officers and almost ran over were an officer. Police said
a lot of attempted to make an a legal turney
yesterday and today while ignoring the directions of law enforcement,
and now faces charges of eluding police and resisting arrest.
I'm guessing this is gonna this is gonna go away.

(02:01:15):
I just it'll look, it looks, it sounds, it reads
really really bad. But apparently it's the traffic jam and
he tried to go around it. The idea of almost
hit an officer like that's a very subjective thing. Don't
get me wrong. I'm not like you need to obey
the law and what officers say, but I'm and you know,
evading police whatever it sounds like. You know, he took

(02:01:37):
a shortcut and there's a cop that was out of
his car, and then the guy probably yelled for him
to pull over, and I would guess he didn't hear
him right running late? Who among us has it? As
our good friend Isaac Lowan Kron told me before he
left today, not even close to the worst Giants drive
of the season. Yeah, there you go, Isaac, there you go.

(02:01:59):
Give credit where credit is due. Hey, Multiple reports say
that Bill's quarterback Nathan Peterman is gonna start in Week
nine against the Bears after quarterback Derek Anderson. Then Peterman
suffered a concussion late in that loss to the New
England Patriots. That is good news for the Bears, right,
get you get you catching all the wide receivers are
like losing their gloves to the Bears defense defense, Like, dude,

(02:02:22):
we're getting our interceptions up. The Peterman is back. Forty
Niners quarterback CJ. Bethord miss practice today because of a
wrist injury. The Niners host the Raiders on Thursday night,
so if Bethord camp play, San Francisco would turn to
other veteran Tom Savage or Nick Mullen, who's a second
year guy spending his first season on the Niners active

(02:02:45):
roster from Southern miss That could be Thursday night football.
That's amazing, that's incredible. But oh oh, let me, let
me sell this to you. Okay, our Raiders have traded
away their two best players not named Derek Harr. They're
trying to lose games. They're taking on the Niners. Who
might start a guy named Nick or Nate Mullin. Which

(02:03:06):
is it Nick Nick Mullen. I if Nick Mullins sat
down next to me, I would have no idea who
he is. Not only is it on Thursday night football,
but it's also like a five twenty local start in
Senda Clarita, which means it's gonna be empty anyway. Plus,
if you know anything about that stadium in five twenty,
if you sit on one side of it, you're basically

(02:03:27):
like an ant underneath a magnifying glass with the light
coming into your face. That's the worst thing I've ever heard.
By the way, I short changed him a letter, it's
Nick Mullins. So there's an asset the end of it.
Dan Mullen's former coach Nick Mullins, Nick Mullins, by the way,
four games in London next season the end the NFL

(02:03:47):
announced today. So it's Nick Mullins. Uh, black or white?
Take a guess. I know this, he's white. This Nick
is a white. I had to look at and he's
Southern miss not Mississippi State. You say Missisippi States. That
thought I said Southern Missis You did, I thought Mississippi State.
That's her Dan Mullins former Dan Mullins, former Mississippi State coach.
I get one more in. Cavaliers are going to host

(02:04:07):
the NBA All Stars in Cleveland, could be Lebron's last?
Why bag it out there and pressed that the press
maybe maybe they maybe they know something. Oh Brad Ausmiths
joined just tomorrow. New manager. Are our Angels? Awesome? Awesome? Uh?
Nick Mullen through for four thousand yards one year? Who knew?
