Speaker 1 (00:00):
M HM greetings, Welcome inside of this The Doug Gottlieb
(00:48):
Show on Fox Sports Radio. Jason Smith and Mike Carmen
from The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon, heard nights
here on Fox Sports Radio. You know, we came in
today figuring, Okay, we're gonna have a lot of Super
Bowl stuff to talk about. The golf stuff. Eric Dickerson's
going crazy on the Herd. John Wall slips and falls
at his house. He's gonna be out for the next
(01:08):
year with a torn achilles and escalated quickly and then
speaking of it's like the Anchorman fight. I'm missing an
arms from Stonewall Jackson. You know, I think my favorite
party that is still the Planet of the Apes when
they come with the with the with the nets and
they throw them over and they drag Wait riding in
on a horse. I mean, come on, but then we
(01:31):
get a Woes bomb. Fifteen minutes before the show starts,
ESPN is agent Walzerowski reporting the latest on the Anthony
Davis saga, which really in its totality has been far
better than the Super Bowl and anything else. Anthony Davis
let up to the super Bowl. It's like we took
a day off, and now we're back to Anthony Davis. Gonna.
I'll give you the one day the game. Everybody kind
(01:52):
of went, I don't like this game, this game. If
we moved on, I mean, today we got a parade
with Gronkowski with no shirt, rinking bottles of wine. Nobody cares. Well, really,
is that unexpected? That shocking Rob Gronkowski drinking out. You know,
that's like, that's like the most unshocking thing of the day.
I mean, he told me he was wearing a shirt
(02:13):
drinking water. I would say, no, come on, didn't come on,
come on, It's been Boston. They got nobody left to fight,
so they've turned out each other. I mean, that's that's
the only thing to come out of it. But this
is the latest news regarding the Lakers potential trade for
Anthony Davis. It was late last night we found out
that the Pelicans want the Lakers to overwhelm them with
(02:34):
an offer. We know the Lakers were offering a combination
of Brandon ingram A, Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, and other
players as well. The only one not mentioned is Contavia
is called well Pope, but everybody else in atlant Steven
since in the trade rumors Michael Beasley, they're gonna take
on a really bad contract in Solomon Hill. They're gonna
trade a first round pick, maybe two. But the Pelicans
wanted more. They wanted more because they really don't want
(02:55):
to trade Anthony Davis to the Lakers. Woes reports just
a few minutes ago. The Lakers are no longer going
to bid against themselves. They are now waiting for the
Pelicans to get back to them for a counterproposal. Magic
Johnson and Rob Polinka want to make this trade, but
this is a negotiation tactic, and they are waiting and
(03:16):
not going to negotiate until the Pelicans back get back
to them with something. Because apparently what's been happening is
a Lakers saying, here's a trade. All that stinks. Here's
another offer that stinks. Here's another offer, well that stinks.
Here's everybody on the roster will take a bad contract.
What just tell me, Just tell me something, Tell me
what you want? Nothing from the Pelicans. The last line
on his tweet tactic on behalf of the Lakers who
(03:36):
have wanted New Orleans to show more initiative in the process,
they got him under contract for a year and a half.
They got a lot of other teams that would like
this asset, and I get there's not a lot of
stuff on the market. You mentioned the John Wall situation.
All right, that's another year. Right, We're always already talking
about an injury, an infection, and now add more time
(03:58):
with a surgery that will come out next week, maybe
two weeks from now when that all goes down. So
now you're looking at Bradley Beale. There's another star in
the market. Obviously, different body, different performance, different everything on
a on a basketball corporate. All of a sudden you
raise your hand, go all right, there's another star that's
there for the taking, and you're the Pelicans. You don't
want to deal with the Lakers and get forced by
(04:19):
Rich Paul and Lebron James anyway, so you're just sitting
back and waiting. The best was the Pelicans response to
this on Twitter. You don't want this. It's fantastic. They
got a little guy with kind of like the furrowed
brow and a monocle. That's all that was the emog
Is it the owl? Yeah, he's got a monocle. It's great.
(04:40):
Oh you want to show people were smart? So I'm
gonna wear a monocle. Oh, I mean I think it's
a pretty good move. And then to other people think
owls are smart anyway, what's gonna you know, show you
a monocle? Well, I mean owls. I mean, what do
you got headmaking in terms of your owl lexicon of
of recent memory? But you know, you get the Pelicans
are at this point, They're in a position of power.
(05:00):
The Lakers are obviously desperate to get something done. Yeah,
you know, yes and no for the Pelicans. Because the
first thing is the Lakers have finally realized. This is
like in the movie when you get all the way
to the end and the hero, the protagonist realizes, oh
my god, I've been being played all along and I
didn't see it. You know, I thought so and so
is I didn't see it. Because what's been going on
(05:22):
is the Lakers have been getting played. Since Anthony Davis
said he wanted to come to the Lakers, this is
where I want to go and sign full time, the
Lakers have gone, hey, here's this. The names have been leaked.
When you know, Magic Johnson was and Rob Polink and
Jenny Bust have been pissed their first offers were leaked
late last week, or here's Alonzo's name officially, his name officially,
(05:43):
So they were bad the names get out, we find out.
According to Steven A. Smith, Gregg Popovich is telling the
Pelicans and other teams are telling the Pelicans don't trade
with the Lakers, don't trade with them. Now their motivations
are in pure. They don't want to save the small
market team. They just don't want the Lakers to get
Anthony Davis and when games they're being very selfish about that.
But all this is happening, and now the next rumor
(06:05):
has been leaked. Now the Lakers have to leak. Well,
now we gotta make it seem like we're making a
really big offer so we don't look bad because we
got criticized for the bad when they got out, So
now they've everybody. If that's how you're going about your business,
you're answering to the throes of of media mocking you,
then get out of your your office and you just leave.
(06:25):
If that's it. If all you're worried about is you're
losing on social media and getting beaten up on radio
and television, you don't belong in the desk or in
the suit anyway, Well, what do I say all the
time about the Lakers front office? Obviously here but but
here's the other thing. I mean, at least they're not
calling moskof so that that's a good thing. That trying
(06:47):
to get lull Dang back. But Dang played really eat
balled out against them. So here's so here's where we're
at now. So that's happens now. They now they throw
this offer out there, and now basically every name on
the roster has been men. So now you have all
of these guys in the middle of all of this.
The Lakers got mad at Luke Walton because Luke Walton
had a meeting with them this week and hey, guys,
(07:08):
we gotta do this, this, this, And they're all upset because,
like dude, all our names are every day are are
being leaked in in trade rumors, and you want us
to do this a little bit more. And they all
got in his face. So now the Lakers pulling back
and realized, oh man, we just got played because the
Pelicans may have no desire at all to trade Anthony
Davis to us in the end, So now what have
we done. We have upset all the players that need
(07:30):
to play the rest of the season. Oh now, so
now this is gonna be a last season for us,
because how does Lonzo Ball come back when his dad
is saying he got he needs to go to Phoenix
as part of this trade. How does Brandon Ingram come back?
How does Beasley come back because he's been How do
all these guys come back knowing full well they were
just dangled in trade rumors. So that's incredibly difficult. Plus
nobody likes Luke Walton. So now it's hey, the Lakers
(07:53):
are broken, and we'll get past the trade deadline and
Lakers are gonna realize we just got played. The entire
NBA just screwed us for the season, and now we
don't have to worry about us because they hate the Lakers,
they hate Lebron went there, they hate they could be
a power again very soon. And now they did all that.
Everybody did their best to come in and screw them,
and the Lakers realized we did it to ourselves because
(08:13):
they let all of this get out, and now try
to move on is going to be almost impossible. Well,
we put a lot of this in the fantasy sports context,
right of the trade offers and the barrage of trade
offers and what happens in a lot of leagues. Nobody
wants to be the one to put somebody over, right,
Is this the trade that's gonna make him a champion?
And then when we have our end of the year banquet,
all they do is mock me because I'm the guy
(08:35):
that delivered a title and resort and in this case,
you're talking about a franchise that what five years ago
we were talking about representing in half of the NBA
finals over the history of the enemy. Yeah, let's restore
them and give Lebron what he wants. That's the other
part of this is you're also potentially getting played. And
that's where I think the Pelicans are salty. Is it's
(08:56):
the rich Paul Lebron James effect of dictating how things
are gonna go and Anthony Davis. Look, he said all
the right things. Look, I gave you seven years, I
want to win, I want you know it's not working whatever,
That's all fine. He's a paud in this game, right,
he could say all the right things. It's still you know,
Lebron James with the puppet string standing over the top
(09:17):
while holding the Pelicans owners over like a mob movie,
over the edge of the building. Guard what else you
got there? Come on? Well, and that's what the Pelicans
are trying to do is shakedown the Lakers. But Lebron
James trying to shake down the league with Rich Paul
and and create the power out here in Los Angeles.
And you can dangle all of this we've talked about.
(09:37):
There are a bunch of spare parts. And now you've
awakened LaVar Ball. He was in slumber. He now he's
fully awake. He's doing interview being full on. No, that's
just it. That'll happen pretty Jason Smith, Mike Harmon and
(09:58):
for Doug Gottlieb twit are at how about a frescop
Mike at Swollen Dome phone number eight seven seven on Fox.
So that's the Lakers side of it. So that's the
Lakers realizing they've screwed themselves and the league played them.
The Pelicans. They're gonna come out of this and if
they hold on the Anthony Davis, they are going to
realize a very basic lesson in economics, and that is, oh,
(10:20):
we kind of blew our window because economics and I
didn't do that well in economics in high school. But
it was kind of fun. We learned about Adam Smith's
money worlds on the show One Hands and all that stuff.
I learned how to embezzle, you know. But there were
certain things. But you know what, I under got that
lesson taking a couple of extra sugar packets out sugar
you don't have to buy it. Star sugar is not
cheap if you're baking out there. I understand the philosophy
(10:44):
of supply and demand. And this is what the Pelicans
need to realize, is that it's great now to be
that team that the NBA is saying, Hey, we stand
behind you, you know, stand up for the small markets.
And the Pelicans their ownership love that. I mean, we
know that for effect. Gil Benson loves that. Yes, yes, yes,
But then when the trading deadline stops, they're gonna leave
Hi because they don't care about the Pelicans. They don't
care if they trade Anthony Davis to the Knicks, which
(11:04):
is a big market. They don't care if they trade
them to the Celtics, which is a big market. Just
don't trade them to the Lakers. We don't want the
Lakers to happen here in the Western Conference, so they're
gonna realize, oh, the NBA played us. But when you
get to the off season. Right right now, the supply
is way bigger at the end of the season than
it is right now. The potential right now, it is
(11:25):
in supply and demand. It is Anthony Davis is the
only one available. Supply is low, so the demand right
now is highest on him. That it will be because
he's the only superstar available. And you've seen what should
be the best offers are coming in and what the
Lakers are saying, here's our whole roster. We'll take a
bad contract in some draft picks. The Knicks are saying,
we don't have enough talk to us later, the Celtics
(11:45):
saying we don't have enough talk to us later. The
Clippers haven't even engaged in this when Anthony Davis said, hey,
I would go there a long term. These are the
best offers you are getting. So now you think everything
is gonna better in the off season, Let's go to
the off season when supply is greater. Because as Katie's
a free agent, Kyrie is a free agent, Cousins is
a free agent, Kawai Leonards a free agent, and what
(12:07):
the deal about all these guys. You have to trade
anything for him, you're gonna go in for this, So suddenly,
now what's more valuable these guys that you can go
in and all these teams are gonna go after the
same guys. They're all gonna go after Kauai. They're all
gonna go after try to go after Katie if they can,
gonna go after Kyrie, all these same teams. Oh, Anthony
Davis is great, but we're not gonna trade four players
and give you a mountain of draft picks for him.
(12:29):
Because the demand is greater. It's gonna be a buyer's
market in the in the off season. So the Pelicans are, hey,
we're gonna do this, and yeah, we're gonna get a
better offer later. You're not getting a better offer later.
What you're getting now is the best you're gonna get
June things football owners, and they'll hold on to them
out of spite. That's it, out of spite. Using True Car,

filling in for Doug Today, Twitter at how about a frescup?
(15:04):
Mike has swollen dome and coming up in ten minutes.
Antonio Daniels is gonna stop by NBA inside of former
NBA VET with the latest on the Lakers Pelicans news.
We found out just before the show the Lakers have
pulled out of the bidding for Anthony Davis. They want
to make a deal, but they really want the Pelicans
to respond to them before they make another offer. Now,
(15:26):
I guarantee what's gonna happen is this The Lakers are
waiting for the Pelicans say Okay, well we would like
this and this and this and this and this Laker
will say, you got it. We'll setting the paperwork. That's
gonna be the conversation like there's gonna be no negotiation
for it's gonna be yes, we'll send it, we'll get
it to you. Just whatever you say, yes, take it,
go away. That's how it's gonna be. That's how they
(15:47):
have to. All these guys been dangled in trade rumors
for for now a week and a half. They're all
piste off. You can't go on this way this season
and and and gust of the league is gonna say,
here's a prime season from Lebron, one of the last
couple he's got left. Xing that out. We don't have
to worry about Lebron to try to win a championship,
move on in the playoffs, all those things. This keeps
up the all start fight. Like Patriots fans that at
(16:08):
the at the parade today, it's only a matter of
time before it spills over. You got a lot of
crazy in that locker room. We've seen it happened before.
So perhaps this is it Lebron James being the guy
that he wanted to set all this in motion. They
wanted to bring people along and get him into championship
mode when he tried to slow play and then talk
(16:28):
to ten minutes later of wow, I'm frustrated this. You know,
it's hard the adjustment and I'm losing my mind. And
then well here we are after a month off. So
a lot more on this story coming up in a
little bit less than ten minutes from now. But yes,
brawls at the Patriots Super Bowl parade today one of
the big ones. It's been making its way online going
(16:50):
firel a big fan. This is not between Patriots and
Rams fans. This is Patriots fans fighting each other. No,
but you beat the hell of it everybody else they got.
You got left to fight six titles, what like, there's
no drama anymore. You fight over which was better? Number
five or number six? Was number one? The best? Edelman?
I think Edelman's a Hall of Fame, not yet. I
(17:14):
think tom will take Tommy two thousand fifteen, then Tommy
two thousand thirteen, then Tommy two thousand seven. No, I
think Tommy two thousand eight is better than Tommy two
thousand seven. We will fight about this and then they're
just they're just brawling with each other. I'll tell you
the video that made its round. So you got several
guys just laid out, and the guys in Thewski jerseys
are getting the worst of it. No, and then there
was a guy. Yeah, no, they that's kind of shocking
(17:35):
you expect in the Super Bowl. Then these guys weren't
caught those two big passes at the end. You know, really,
you hit the over if you you had the number
of catches he was gonna have for the game. But
I mean, right at the start of the video, you
got someone getting knocked into the front of a car.
Is out cold. Yeah, people scream and help him out.
And then a guy tries to put on a hoodie
(17:56):
like that was gonna save his identity. No, no, you're done,
You're you're trouble. Well, that's the thing is that I
don't understand how you fight at a parade when you're
happy you're there. I mean, yes, you've had all morning
to drink whatever you probably, but I mean everybody's happy,
you're all there. Everybody's the same fan and fe like
there's a bunch of Jet fans walking around going, yeah,
it's Sam's time now, Sam Sam, Sam, Sam Sam, And
(18:18):
you know then you know what happened? That's the question.
What sparked it? Might there have been one random guy
yelling Sam, Sam, Sam, this was a great last championship.
What do you mean last championship? Let's fight? I mean
is that that could be, you know, a fight over
you know, the end of Brady or Belichick or again.
You never know what's gonna get people to go off.
You've been in bars before. We're suddenly there's an eruption
(18:40):
and a fight and you're looking around, going, what the
hell just happened? What to a place about a month ago?
And all of a sudden, I got guy getting shoved
all the way into the drum set. By the end
of the night, they were filling out a thing to
the bar saying you owe us a grand because you
just killed her drunk kids for these two jackasses fighting. So,
I mean you've got things that ask were you involved
(19:00):
in the fight? Really? No, you didn't. You weren't involved. No,
I did not. I did not have anything to because
I know, because I know if you get arrest, I
know I'm your phone call, because I'm the only one
that A is going to be up at the same
time as you and can come to come to get
you out of jail. And your jaunty little hat, well
you would be able to identically is you wearing a
jaunty hat yest either me or West. Well, I do
(19:23):
what they do in the movies. I would go there
and say, no, you sit here all night and you
think about what you think about what you did. It's
aid the real dirty toilet like they always have in that.
But all I did was jackasses. I think it later was,
you know, one guy didn't quite recognize dude was there
with with a woman, and he stepped to try to
offer buy a drink, and the other guy was drunk
(19:44):
enough that it it just escalated quickly, and all of
a sudden we got chaos and cops in the whole
nine yards. But here, I mean, you're supposed to be
celebrating a title. I mean it's yeah, six y of
six well and and Tom Brady, you know, and this
is this is my one thing. The whole time has
been about the Patriots, you know, being a Jets fan,
they won. I've seen them win six now it's okay.
(20:05):
They go to the Super Bowl every year. I'm numb
to it at this point. But this is the one
thing that grinds me with Tom, you know what really
grinds my gear? Say, like Peter, feel what grinds my gears? Uh?
Is here he was today talking about how uncomfortable he
feels when he's called the goat, the greatest quarterback of
all time. Here's Tom Brady on Good Morning America. A
(20:26):
lot of people, myself included, call you the goat great?
Is the ball tied? I don't like that. I don't
even like it makes me cringe. Really, it makes me cringe.
I guess I take compliments worse than I take I
wish you would say you're trash or two or you're
too slow, you can't get it done no more, and
I would say, thank you very much. You're driven by
criticism more than you're driven a boy success. Yeah, absolutely,
(20:48):
what a phony? The chill on a phone ship for
the ship he's already setting it up for number seven.
This is a guy, Tom. You know, there's one thing
that I don't and I see a lot of it
in this industry and everywhere TV and radio is people
that have false modesty. Be real. You know. I I
love a guy like Cam Newton who has so many flaws,
but he's real and I get that. You know, what
(21:09):
you see from Cam Newton is what you get, and
other guys to what you see his way. Aaron Rodgers
is a weird dude. Doesn't pretend to not be a
weird dude. He's a weird dude. But Brady wants to continue,
you know, he gets upset and runs the whole. Every
nobody believed in us. They all said we were underdoge,
they said we were through and look who we did.
We proved him wrong. And then what he walks into
(21:30):
the locker room after the NFC champion Hip going I'm
the baddest blank or blanker on the planet and this
is how good Hammond, We're gonna win and then oh,
you're called the goat and he goes, oh g I cringe.
I don't not just stop, just stop, just be real.
Brady can't stand people not liking him, can't stand it,
can't stand none of the Patriots can stand not being liked.
And because this year, people in the media and fans
(21:51):
had the audacity to say, well, the Chiefs could win
the Super Bowl, or the Rams could win the Super Bowl,
or the Saints could win the Super Bowl along with
the Patriots. It was not every everybody didn't pick us
to a man to win the Super Bowl. Oh, this
is a this is a we are overcoming odds. They
didn't overcome odds nothing, they overcame. They overcame the odds
of having a home playoff game and a buy in
(22:12):
the playoffs, being favored to win the Super Bowl. Yet
they want to ride this line of we're the best.
But oh but oh chucks, we're really just a small
team and we're we're we're close knit from New England. No,
you've won six super Bowls. You're going down at worst
as the second greatest quarterback of all time, maybe third,
depending on where you like. Joe Montana. So that's that's
what's happening with Tom Brady. But still, now I'm gonna go,
(22:34):
oh gee, oh, you know, there's an easy way to say, hey,
that's great, that's awesome. I'm flattered. I don't pay attention
to that, but it said to go, oh, it makes
me crank. Really, come on, I don't believe that for
a second, not for a second. Not when you see
how he has been throughout other times in his career.
He is that I'm the biggest blank blanker on the planet.
You know, he's Denzel at the end of training day,
(22:55):
King Kong ain't got nothing on me. But then, oh yeah,
I cringe. Just be real, I know, he he, he
wants to be the whole Look, I'm the wholesome quarterback.
I have I have all this TV twelve methods. You
wear my sleepwearing recover out with the new gear and
and the new foodline. You we Kale and keene wan.
You'll live to be a hundred and fifty and you
can play quarterback till you're sixty years old. All I he,
(23:18):
I get it. Him and the Patriots want that, but
at this point they have to realize people are just
gonna hate them because of the success they've had, because
they've been around for almost twenty years, and we're kind
of sick of them, which is why the average fan
is backing off the Super Bowl a little bit that
they were in because that's who didn't watch the Super well,
but a lot of people stop watching it half that. Look,
(23:38):
there's a little bit of Patriots fatigue there. But just
just own just be who you are. And I'm not
saying you gotta be that that guy who wears the
black hat and be and is the villain. But just
don't give me one part of your person and then go, oh, chucks,
I'm sorry because I know so many people I've been doing.
There are people I work with that I know practice
false modesty so much more than everybody else does as
(23:59):
so much more. And I can tell you who they know.
We're in the today and come on from But that's
that's that's why great. You know, I know all these
guys that are phones. I mean that was hilarious. It
was great. And the same thing. I know so many
guys in this but throughout this that are that practice
false modesty, and it just is absolutely drives me crazy.
(24:22):
Just be who you are. But I think there's a
nod in a wing to a lot of hell. The
thing he did with Colbert the other night where he's going,
oh yeah, I'm gonna play baseball and then I'm gonna
go do Shakespeare and he was running the soliloquy. He's
not a Hamlet, oh yorick. I mean, it's a good bit.
If you haven't found it, I'll tweet it back out.
But like they're having fun with it. And if if
(24:42):
inside that locker room. It got everybody to a man
to to block a little bit, or get a little
saltier or laugh at the outside world. It worked there
in the middle of a parade, shirtless today, Twitter out,
how about it? Tom, just keep that to almost sounded
like Joe Namath, Mike It's swollen dome, Jason Smith, Mike
Harmon in for Doug Gottli, we have more than developing
(25:03):
Anthony Davis's story in a minute. But first, David Gascon
has what's trending? D C Gentleman, d C, d G man,
what's wrong with you? I meant to say d G,
but you know I hit the sea and Gascon, so
I think that C is what's in my head. Big gulps,
big catule letter. That's a final Z. That's an outrage
(25:27):
because I hit the sea in Gascon. That's why. Because
I'm thinking the sea, because I go. I want to
make sure I hit the sne It's no worse than
Mike Harmon. I texted him this morning. I asked him
if you wanted a car pool. He's like, no, when
was this this morning? I didn't get it. You texted
somebody else. I'm gonna tell you I'm looking at mom
scrolling right now. I got no gascon. Maybe I was
(25:48):
asking for girls, know I think you you texted somebody else.
Be careful what you wish for guys. We will stay
in the NBA, obviously with Anthony Davis because a cord
to Adrian Ward Nalski, the Lakers do not to bid
against themselves, so they pulled out of the deal. So far,
they're waiting to hear back from New Orleans on a
counter proposal. Lakers do confirm that Lebron James will play
(26:09):
tonight against the Indiana Pacers Wizards point guard John Wallas
and be out at least twelve months after having surgery
on his rubstreet achilles tendon, happened when he fell at
his house. Meanwhile, Boston Celtics big man Marcus Morris won't
play tonight against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the National Football League.
Local police in the Hollywood, Florida area have confirmed the
Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown was involved in a domestic
(26:31):
dispute in January, but no arrest were made. Brown's attorney
denies that his client was involved in any sort of
incident like that. Rams running back Todd Gurley did not
meet with the media today and their final availability reports
say that West Welkers expected to join San Francisco's coaching
staff Carlos Corea on his arbitration case just moments ago.
Astro's slugg will make five million dollars this upcoming season

worth an average value of eleven points six four million dollars.
Back to the Doug Gotlives Show with Jason Smith and
Mike Harmon in just ten seconds. But first a word
from her friends at Farmers. From dogs to flooding a
living room to a dog taking a joy ride, We've
(27:15):
covered it. Talk to farmers. We know a thing or
two because we've seen a thing or two. We are
farmers under written my Farmers, jock fire, insurance, exchanges and
affiliates products unavailable in every stake. Now back to the
Doug Gotlum Show at Jason Smith and Mike Harmon. Gentleman, Mike,
you don't have to text me. I believe you. I'm
just saying, body, look out on the street, corners. So
(27:36):
much waiting on you. So, the latest and the Anthony
Davis trade saga is the Lakers have backed off making
further offers for Davis because they would like the Pelicans
to engage them before they keep offering more and more picks.
So where do we go from here, Well, we go
to the hotline right now, bringing former NBA star Antonio Daniels,
(27:57):
currently analysts for Oklahoma City Thunder on Fox Sports All Lahoma,
co host analyst on Serious x M NBA Radio, The
original A d What's happening fellas, how you're doing good?
Let's look take us for let's start here from this perspective.
This is where we started the show today with that
if this trade doesn't go down, and now it looks
like the Lakers are backing off a little bit, what
(28:18):
happens in the locker room when all these guys, because
the entire roster has been dangled in trade talks, they
have to go back and all played together after this
is over. Okay, which lack of room are we referring
to the Lakers? Okay? I mean to me, like, I
don't I think Rich Paul is a fantastic agent, but
I think in this particular instance, he put his client
(28:41):
and and Anthony Davis is not off of you know,
he bears some responsibility here as well. But you put
your client in a very very bad situation for that
exact reason that you just alluded to ten days ago.
When you say and go public and say you know what,
we are going to request a trade. I get it,
I get it. But you also have to think about
(29:02):
what happens if that trade does not go through. Now,
there are so many different people that are putting an
uncomfortable situation. If you're in the Lakers locker room and
your Kyle Kuzman and your Brandon Ingram and all these
other guys, now you know, well, look we've been dangled
out there, but if it doesn't go through, now we
expect you to come back in and play and like
(29:24):
nothing ever happened. And if you're Anthony Davis and you're
the New Orleans Pelicans and they're not traded, now, what,
as Athony David? Do you allow Anthony Davis to play
another game in the New Orleans Pelicans uniform knowing that
he does not want to be there. It puts the coaches,
the teammates, the fans, that put everybody in an uncomfortable position.
(29:44):
So I think Anthony Davis didn't really think this whole
thing out, nor did Rich Paul. Well, what's a question
did Anthony Davis? I mean, to a degree, he's the
the pawn in the Rich Paul Lebron James game. Right,
they got removed by all the social media, right, they
took him off the Twitter banner, off the Sizzle reel,
all that stuff. He tried to say the right thing
of you know, I'll play out the year, and well
(30:04):
that's big of you when you got a year and
a half left on your deal. But now he's he's
the guy that becomes the I don't know that Lebron
people already have their their hate for what he's done
in his moves, and now he's dragged Anthony Davis into it, right,
And I mean, I'm gonna say, Anthony Davis bear some
responsibility here because you hire representation exactly for that reason
(30:26):
to represent you. But you can also listen to the
wrong advice. It said. It's completely different if Risk Paul
went to the Pelicans it was sure that his client
had a landing spot by February seven, it's completely different.
But if you're going in not knowing this automatically assuming
that just because of the time that you requested the
(30:48):
trade that made the Lakers the forefront but the front runners, man, listen, now,
it's uncomfortable for everybody involved, especially if the Pelicans too,
is not to trade Anthony Davis was Honestly, I don't
think they are, you know. And that's the thing is
that if they wait, they I don't think they're gonna
get better offers in the off season because, yeah, Anthony
(31:08):
Davis is still gonna be there, but there's a lot
of other stars are gonna be big time free agents
that the same teams are gonna go after. And oh,
by the way, we don't have to trade big assets
for him. I think the offers are gonna get worse
for him if they go to the off season, because
the thing is, none of those stars that you're referring
to or Anthony Davis, none of them. So if you're
the Pelicans, you have that in your back pocket, you know.
(31:30):
I mean, yeah, Kyriell become a free agent, and Kevin
Duran will become a free agent, and Clay Thompson will
become a free agent. But man, Anthony Davis is a
different case of scenario. He's a different animal, and that's
a different situation. So if you're the Pelicans, you always
know in the in your back pocket you have one
of the brightest future stars in the NBA. You have
(31:51):
one of the brightest stars in the NBA now. But
Boston can also get involved. Boston has a lot of
assets that they can that they can dang all out there.
And if you're the Pelicists, all you want is young
talent and draft picks. Boston has both of those. Well,
that's a question, Antonio. On some level, being a football
run organization, we keep hearing about the Saints trainers being
(32:13):
involved and everything else. Do they even care. The money
keeps coming in from TV, money keeps flowing, so on
some level, out of spite, they could just say forget it,
We're not giving you what you want. Yeah, But but
also you have to do what's in your organization's best
in theory is right, I mean, you don't want to
get You don't want to cut off your nose to
(32:33):
spite your face. That's the last thing you want to do.
And you can say, you know what, out of spite,
why the way you went about this and making everything public.
You know, we're not going to allow you to do. Man.
The fact that the matter is, there's gonna be a
season next year. The Pelicans will still have a future
moving forward. So you don't want to jeopardize your future
out of spite of Anthony Davis. You still want to
(32:54):
do what's in the best interest of your organization moving forward.
I say, ay, let me have scu this now, taking
out what teams would have to give up for it
to get Anthony Davis. What's the what's the best fit
for him? Well, of all the teams that he could
go to, what's the best fit? What team becomes the
best by adding him? It depends on what are you
referring to skill set or um roster? How far? How
(33:19):
far can how far can he take a team? Can? What?
What team is he most likely to take to a
championship first? See, that's the hard part for me. That's
where that's where I get confused. Because if you're the
Lakers and you're you're training for Anthony Davis, but yet
you're gutting all your young talent, Are you still a
championship organization? Right? No? I mean that's the thing. Antonio
(33:43):
Daniels joins his thirteen year NBA, that studio analyst Thunder
Live and serious x M NBA. You find him on
Twitter at A Daniels thirty three. Uh so, Antonio, I
guess that's that's it, and and that's the crux of
it is you have this deal in place whatever. The
last iteration was that the Lakers have flooded, because let's
face it, the first one that got leaked was embarrassing,
(34:05):
and we know you're gonna low ball, but the fact
that that got out seemed like people were trying to
put the egg on the face of Blinkola and Magic
Johnson a little bit on Rich Paul and Lebron James.
So now you have the the barrage of offers that
go through, and I guess the question becomes, if you wait,
and I think this is where Jason was going. With
all of those stars on the market, do the Lakers
(34:26):
still have to give up the house to get him
potentially if they can go get one of those other
stars instead. Yeah, but okay, now, which other star can
you match with Lebron James that you know what's to
come there and put you in a better position to
every Davis does no, and that's just it, right, But
then again, you still have to You've got the wacky waving,
(34:49):
you know, things off the car lot is is what's
left on the roster if you make this deal, right,
plus four or five picks or whatever the number was
at the last I don't know if it was four
and four or four total. In either way, you're talking
about your future going to New Orleans as well. Right.
And the thing is, there's a lot of outside pressure
(35:10):
or Dale dips that that has been leaked from different
coaches calling him, different organizations calling him and tell him,
no matter what, don't deal with the Lakers. Don't deal
him to the Lakers. And one of the things that
you find in this league quite often, it's very rare
that someone as talented as Anthony Davis will get traded
in conference in conference, you know, like you look at
(35:34):
San Antonio, they traded Kawhi Leonard out east, so they
only have to see him twice. You know, Paul George,
he got traded out west, so Indiana only have to
see him twice. So it's very rare that you can say, yeah,
we're going to move you, but we still have to
see you three or four times a year. That's the
last thing you want. You can follow on Twitter at
A Daniels thirty three. That's a Daniels thirty three. See
(35:56):
him in Thunderlive, Pelicans Live and listen to him Serious
x M and be a radio the original a d
Thanks so much for stoking by this, Antonio. We'll talk
to you soon, my friend, have a good one, great stuff.
Thank you stuff. He is fired up in town. Who
turns into a champion? First, that's the problem I have, right,
You're trying to figure out pieces, right, because if he
goes to Boston, what do they gotta give up? And
(36:18):
his Kyrie coming back? He just didn't want to say
the knicks. I mean, I get it, I'm gonna He
just didn't want to say that. There's nothing else there either.
You got maybe zion, you got knocks at a whole
lot of questions at James Dolan at Farmers, we've seen

When it's game time, have an experienced player to help
you stay ahead of the game, put their experience into

It's Tuesday? That means what are the chances? What are

True Cash offer not available in all areas. So it's Tuesday,
(37:48):
It's twelve forty nine Pacific time. What game we're playing
right now? This is game time Tide on the Doug
gottlie Show. Guys, I will dig in my bag of
tricks and we got all right, what do you have?
Home on? Man? Hold on? Alright, David cast Gone is
(38:15):
gonna play you keep that up. He may come in
here and club you like a Patriot. All right, what
do we got, d man? Well, football season is over,
so let's get some baseball underway. Shally yeah. TMZ Sports
pulled up to one Aaron Judge and asked him about
a new acquisition, maybe man Machado, maybe Bryce Harper, and
(38:38):
he said this quote, Harper's got more speed than me. Man.
Whenever he wants to play, will make it work. He
also added, anytime you can add an m v P
to a team, it's gonna make it better. So and
all just depends on where he wants to go. May Machado,
Bryce Harper, any of them. So with all that being said, gentleman,
and do the New York Yankees are the services of
(39:01):
either Bryce Harper or Mannie Machado at any point this season?
What are the chances they get Bryce Harper. It's easy
to throw in there because Aaron Hicks is gonna play
center field. Alright. Eric Judge already said, I'll move positions
for Bryce Harper if I have to. But one of
them can play left, one of them can play right.
And what did I say from the beginning, once we
(39:21):
saw the teams that were in for Machado and Harper
were not teams that they wanted to go to. It
was the White Sox or the Phillies and the Padres.
They had to recalculate and go, all right, we don't
really want to sign with any of these teams, or
they would have already. Bryce Harper would have a new team.
He would go back to the Nationals for So what
they're doing now, and what Scott Boris and Machado's people
(39:41):
are doing behind closed doors, is trying to call around
to better teams, saying, okay, how about if it was
a short term deal. What if we did two years
for sixty million and then these guys hit free agency
again when they're twenty eight years old. Because I guarantee
you that's what's going on right now. We already know
there's more teams interested because this is what's going on.
They can't sign for less money for long term, so
(40:02):
it's hey, I think we can get you this kind
of money from a really good team, but they only
want to commit one or two years. So that's what's
happening right now. And Harper is gonna go to a
big team, and Machado's gonna go to a big team
and they're gonna get one or two years for thirty
million dollars a year. I like the way you think.
And I said, he it's about a third, because Machado
is gonna want his longevity. He's the guy that's gonna
settle for the one seventy five, Yes, settling for one
(40:25):
seventy five and end up in Chicago. And then you
because you do have a a farm system that's ready
to compete, maybe as soon as next year, so you
can make the sale of hey, you could be the
centerpiece on this team that's on the rise in the
central and Boris and and and everybody else on the
other side looks. And when you got the Harper deal,
you've got what eight teams now quote unquote interested still
(40:50):
say he's a guy that that wants his longevity. He
wants to have that big dollar, not the one year,
not the two years, especially when a guy has already
been crashing into walls, already had injury. It now, no, No,
he wants the big dollar, the extra zeros and the
big novelty check far more important to him than the
one year win. In my opinion, move him to San Diego. Guys,
(41:11):
we moved from the diamond over to the hardwood court
in the NBA. Kobe Bryant, in an interview with ESPN
is the jump I was talking about one James Harden
when he said, well, I think he has to do
what he has to do in order for his team
to win, and there's certain levels to it. So there's
certainly in the style of play in which he's using,
which I'm not a fan of. In terms of winning championships,
(41:32):
I don't think that style is ever gonna win championships.
End quote. James Harden's usage rate right now is forty
point two that second highest all time in NBA history,
behind Russell Westbrook's MVP season. So, gentlemen, what the chances
James Harden keeps this up into postseason play with success
for the Houston Rockets, into post season play with success,
(41:54):
will he win the NBA Championship? Zero percent? I mean,
Kobe is not reinventing the wheel by saying, hey, here's
a guy has been using this kind of volume to
keep his team competitive. They're gonna play better teams in
the playoffs, they're gonna get smoked. But the regular season
is different, and I would bet Harden to score thirty
a game every game the rest of the season. Before
I bet against him scoring thirty in the game. Now
that's a prop beat. Even Harden talked about having Paul
(42:14):
and Capella back. That just should help that usage, right,
But the reality is you're still gonna be tripping over
your tongue based on these minutes played in the regular season.
They fall in the playoffs and that is game time.
On The Doug Gottlieb Show, Thanks David Gascon, I'm gonna
play what does the Fox Say? Coming up next hour
(42:35):
on the show, Jason Smith, Mike Harmon in for Doug Gottlieb,
Twitter at how about a Fresca Mike at Swollen Dome
in for Doug Today. Coming up next, we get back
into the biggest breaking story of the day, and that's
the Lakers pulling out of Anthony Davis sweep Steaks question
Mark Prompter Our two of the program. Welcome inside the
(43:08):
Doug gott Leave Show here on Fox Sports Radio. Jason Smith,
Mike Carmen from The Jason Smith O show with Mike Harmon,
heard nights here on Fox Sports Radio in for Doug today,
and Uh, I've been dealing with a big woes bomb
that broke just before the show started, the latest salvo
fired in the Anthony Davis trade sweepstakes that are all
(43:30):
surrounding the Lakers. And you're gonna learn in the next
few minutes just how the Lakers have been played by
the NBA and by the Pelicans this whole time. We
find out last night that the Pelicans want to be
overwhelmed by an offer from the Lakers, which Adrian Wozarowski
ESPN reported their way. They want multiple draft picks, four
first round picks, second round picks in addition to what
(43:52):
the players. You're the guy with the last house on
the block after everything else has been sucked up and developed, right,
you got Anthony David, like I'm at you gotta you
gotta really wow me to take this house from my
cold dead hands. So the Lakers decided earlier today this
is a Woes bomb from about an hour or so ago,
that they are going to wait on making any further
(44:15):
offers for Anthony Davis pulling out of any more bidding.
They put their offer out there. They want to hear
back from the Pelicans before they move forward. This could
take them out of the bidding entirely. This could postpone things.
But it is a negotiation tactic because obviously the Lakers
want to get Anthony Davis. Well, the l A Times
just put out the package of what the Lakers have
offered at what the Pelicans want in return. The Lakers
(44:39):
have offered Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, brandon Ingram, Josh hart A,
Kazoo Bots, Cantavia is called well, Pope Magic, Johnson's game,
used shorts, Kareem Abdul Jabbar's goggles, James Worthy, Champagne glasses,
(45:00):
LaVar ball, Jello ball, well, LaVar ball. They're just trying
to give away in general, that's the guy left out
of front. Luke Walton, Bill Walton, Ray Walston. Wow, my
favorite Martian Walton Goggins. Yeah, yeah, I like that. In
New Orleans, I go, I gotta see I got a
(45:21):
great Goggins impression if people really knew who he was,
because I got a great Walton Goggins. Yeah, but that's tough.
I mean, you can show a picture goes, Oh, I
know that guy he's in a lot of stuff. He's
in a movie, he's in a new movie. Now is
a bad guy. I forgot one of this because he's
one of the bad guys from Ocean's Eight. You know,
he wasn't justified for a long time. And the Pelicans
have reportedly counted by saying, yeah, that's nice, but we
(45:42):
want six to eight draft picks if we're gonna trade
Antonio Davis. This is like it's like little kids are
running things. And for the Pelicans, hey, kids, just stay here.
When Genie Bust calls or Rob Polinka calls, just tell
him whatever you want. Okay, dad, I want six draft picks.
No sevens higher than six. Seven, no eight draft picks,
eight higher than seven. We want eight draft picks and
(46:04):
juice boxes. And now the Lakers, I mean, really, is
it any Is there any reason why they finally stopped
and realize, okay, this trade is just not gonna happen.
I mean really, they don't know that they've given up. Right,
We're still talking about forty eight hours before this has
to happen, so you you keep exhausting this and and
for the Pelicans, like just wow, us just see how
(46:24):
much they're gonna dance. No, I don't know. I think
it's the Pelicans. Look, the Pelicans have bought into this
philosophy of we are the champions of the small market.
And many other teams in the NBA you're calling them saying, hey,
stand strong against the Lakers. Don't trade. Anthony Davis, there
he the phones for all those tampering fines. I mean
that's fifty thousand, and you're fifty thousand, Popovich. We decided
(46:45):
we don't like you anymore, so you're five hundred thousand,
like your Magic Johnson on TV. God forbid, Adam Silver.
Look into the fact that maybe Greg Popovitch is calling
teams saying, don't trade, make a trade with the Lakers.
He'll have you have to do something, Adam Silver, and
they cash that fifth thousand dollars. Check all these showing
how serious they are about tampering. All these teams are
(47:06):
talking to and trying to tell the Pelicans, you know,
hey stand tall, you know, don't trade with the Lakers.
Don't don't be be a big small market champion. Meanwhile,
no one's telling them don't trade with the Knicks. I
mean big market. I mean the Knicks are terrible but
no one saying don't trade with the Knicks. No one's
saying don't nobody trying. There's no it's just timpending. In
New York. It's James don't want on guitar. It's teams
(47:27):
in the Western Conference saying don't trade into the Lakers.
It makes it harder for us to win a championship.
So this is not like they have the Pelicans. Best
interesting are the Pelicans. The Pelicans are like that that
you know, if your Pelicans are like that person, whether
it's a guy or a girl who like you know,
is kind of gawky and awkward when they're twelve, thirteen, fourteen.
Then you don't see them all summer and they show
up at high school and suddenly like, oh my god's
(47:49):
one of the best looking people in schooling like, oh
my god. And into sports it's Sammy Sosa and then
he knows from being the guy that can't hit kind
of gangly with the White Sox, comes back over summer
with the Cubs going wow, look at you, You're a superhero. No,
but but it's like and now they don't know how
to act and now it's like, oh, suddenly, now you're
getting all this tension from boys or girls, and now
they don't know how to act as oh, look at this,
(48:09):
and Gayle Benson is like, yes, you know, we want
to make sure we you know, we're small market, we're
proud of it, and blah blah blah blah and all
that crap. Meanwhile, all the other teams care about is
just don't try and just don't make the Lakers good.
We just there's a big conspiracy to make sure the
Lakers aren't good. Anytime the Lakers could make a big trade,
you see all the other owners stand up and say,
you can't trade Chris Paul the Lakers. You can't make
this do you can't make this deal. So now this
(48:29):
is what's happening. And so for the Pelicans, they're wrapped
up on this. They're wrapped up on hey, we're not
going to make this trade. So now we can just
say we want whatever we want, and if the Lakers
want to give us some kind of crazy overhaul, then
they'll do it. But there's no way the Lakers are
gonna do it. And they'll be very content now apparently
with not trading into the Lakers, because they've been getting
fed all this information when they're gonna be stuck at
(48:51):
the end of the season trying to find a trade
partner because Boston will have moved on. Other teams will
have moved on because other big free agents are gonna
be out there and they're gonna go after to them.
They're gonna go after Boogie Cousins. They'll go after Clay
Thompson or k d or Kyrie Irving or Kawhi Leonard,
all these same teams. Because the Lakers need a star.
They could have Anthony Davis, they can have Kawhi Leonard.
The Celtics they could have Anthony Davis. They could stick
(49:13):
with Kyrie Irving, they can add somebody else, it doesn't matter.
And so suddenly the Pelicans are gonna be stuck with Oh,
no one's here helping us now, and we're stuck with Davison.
We're not getting the good offers that we got from
the Lakers because teams have to give up guys now
for Anthony Davis, and they don't have to give up
anything besides paying the other guys. Oh, I think we
kind of screwed ourselves a little bit. How much of
(49:35):
this goes into the the idea of it's it's pride,
you know, blanking with you if you go to the
pulp fiction model, because you look at the Benson's and
the Pelicans, they're just getting trying to get over getting
screwed by the NFL. Right, they just got worked. They
still believe it. You've got politicians making their careers over
(49:55):
at lawyers filing frivolous lawsuits. The fans don't watch the
super because they're so incensed. And now you think that
the NBA is gonna get you and Lebron James and
Rich Paul are trying to hold you over a barrel.
How much is the timing to this as well, Like
if this was a month removed, six weeks removed, do
they play it a little bit differently? Or is this
(50:17):
the you know what right on top of this other
thing you're gonna demand out. We're offering you two hundred
forty million dollars, we're trying to give you the keys
to the kingdom, and you're telling us to beat it
because you're a puppet of Lebron James and Rich Paul.
So I think there's some of that going on with
Benson and the folks running the Pelicans. Plus they're an
(50:37):
NFL organization anyway. But that's that's been chronicled quite a
bad last week and a half for New Orleans super Bowl. Now,
and they're canceling Marty Gross all right, that's fake news.
They're not canceling, not caring. You know, Marty gros Baby
is still running a bucket games, so I mean, he's
(50:57):
still got that going for you. But the reality is
now it's the and I've I've said it all along,
is how much is it will trade him anywhere? You
mentioned the Nicks, you mentioned it's the we'd like a
good offer from somebody else, So we cannot deal with
the Lakers not capitulate to Lebron James and Rich Paul,
who have done their best to hold us hostage in
(51:19):
this process. So by saying, all right, keep firing off
those offers, it's petty, it's ridiculous in a lot of ways,
and probably very short sight in terms of the long
term health of their organization. But part of that being
the recency of Roger Goodell and the NFL coming in,
so it becomes the all right, we'll send him to
(51:40):
another outpost, just so you have to work harder to
get him twitter at How about a Fresco, Mike hat Swollen, Dumb,
Jason Smith, Mike Harmon in for Doug Gottlieb. So that's
the Pelicans part of it. Now the Lakers part of
it is this and and I I go back. I
make the movie analogy whatever, you know, trying to think
of a movie where the you get to the end
of the movie and the hero realizes, oh my god,
(52:03):
I've been being played and manipulated for this entire movie,
you know, this entire time from the beginning. And then
they realize and they fight back against the real enemy,
and and you know, things go the way they go
because that's what's happened to the Lakers. Because here's where
the Lakers are right now. They are in a spot
of no return because Anthony Davis announces he wants to
be a Laker, and because the Lakers front office still
(52:24):
does not know what they're doing, and they get a
past because Lebron decided to show up. Lebron was coming
no matter who was running the team. It could have
been Jim busting a bunch of hats running the Lakers,
and still Lebron was gonna come because he wanted to
be in l a But look at what's happened. So
Anthony Davis wants to go to the Lakers. The Lakers
can't control any of this news. The offers get out,
the low ball offers get out, but they involve Alonzo Ball,
(52:47):
they involve Kyle Kuzma, they involve other players on the team.
Then LaVar Ball gets involved. Now he wants a Lonzo
Ball to be traded to Phoenix because now his grand
plan is to get all his kids playing in Phoenix together.
But now he says, okay, Alonzo's name is out there
in trade talks, so that's really difficult to get by.
Things are so tough for those few days that over
the weekend, the Lakers players confront Luke Walton in the
(53:10):
midst of all these trade rooms where nobody knows who's coming,
who's going. Look says, hey, guys, we gotta do this
a little bit better, this a little better. And they
just had it and said, look what are you doing?
And reports are this confrontation was really difficult, and and
guys were getting in Luke Walton's face. So now they
don't like Luke Walton. Now the offers get out of
the better offers the Lakers made because now the Lakers realize, Okay,
that embarrass us when those real low ball offers got out,
(53:32):
So now we improve the offer. So now Ball's name
is out there, Kuzma's name is out there, Ingram's name
is out there, Zoobot's heart call well, Pope, everybody is
out there now. So now the Lakers are going, oh man,
we just got played. Because it's obvious with these offers
the Pelicans are throwing out there, they're not good. They
don't really want to trade them to us. It's if
you overwhelm us with something will make the movie, and
(53:53):
you gotta over overwhelm us with something will make this move.
But it's clear they're not doing it. Now the Lakers realized, crap,
we're screwed. Because now for the week, for the last week,
and it's gonna go all the way till Thursday. All
these names are out there. The entire team's there. It's
not a couple of guys, it's the entire team. Besides
Lebron James was out there in dangling trade talks. How
do they come back and play? How do they come
(54:15):
back to this locker room and have a decent rest
of the season and make a playoff push. How do
they still trust Luke Walton when the guys don't trust
him anyway? And now oh, the Lakers are gonna move
on and said, yeah, we like you guys. Meanwhile, we
could revisit the same thing at the end of the season.
It's gonna be impossible. And the rest of the league
is patting themselves on the back because they said, we
have just eliminated Lebron James from doing any kind of
damage here in the Western Conference in the playoffs, making
(54:37):
a run of us, because now we've turned the Lakers
into a law season where now they could not even
make the playoffs. And that was a great job by
all of us. The Lakers got played by the Pelicans
and the rest of the NBA. Well, now you're have
an Avengers Civil War thing kind of going on, where
you know, Lebron James can say all he wants, Hey,
I can't wait to be backing on the court with
the guys tonight, right load management, He's gonna play against
the Pacers. That's all fine and good. But in the end,
(54:59):
or Um, you got, as you said very eloquently, they
got worked. So now you've got all the in funny
you got all the twenty three year old guys trying
to figure out where their places. LaVar Ball has been
resurrected from hibernation, so now he's just gonna go on
any radio station that will have awaken. I mean that
phone is gonna be ringing off the hook and he'll
(55:20):
tell anybody that moves what's going on. He said, they
killed the winning instinct in Lonzo here because Luke Walton
can't coach. So he got that. You got all the
young guys figuring out their place. The veterans in theory
should have gone through some of this before, but still
toxic environment. And in the end it's Lebron James got
everything started, so the backlash on him is sure to
(55:41):
come as well. Jason Smith Mike Harmon in for Doug Gottlie.
At Farmers we've seen almost everything, so we know how

we'll have more on the Anthony day of a situation
coming up in fifteen minutes, But next do we have
(56:03):
a hot take for you regarding Jared Goff and the
Super Bowl so hot my microphone is melting. That's next
Fox Sports Radio. For a car landing on a roof,
to a car landing in the pool, We've covered it.
(56:24):
Talk to farmers. We know a thing or two because
we've seen a thing or two. We are farmers. Under
written my farmer's truck, fire insurance exchanges and affiliates products
unavailable in every state. Well, I kind of started a
(56:45):
little bit like rocket Queen, I thought for a second,
and now it goes into don't you forget about ready
to hit my high pitch screech on Duff mccagan's birthday.
I thought you know that was where he was heading.

(57:06):
used car. Visit True Car to enjoy a more confident
car buying experience. Jason Smith Mike Harmon in for Doug
Gottlieb today from The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon,
heard nights here on Fox Sports Radio. Can hear from
Lebron coming up a little bit as he is ready
to play tonight again for the Lakers as they continue
to try to trade for Anthony Davis or pull out
(57:27):
of the trade market for Anthony Davis. Will have more
on that story coming up in about ten minutes. Do
you think he just has two words in his audio clip?
Come on, Lebron's walking into shoot around today going I
aint getting traded. How about you guys get ready to
go tonight? I mean, let's go to war. Who are
purple and gold armor? We're ready? Come on, everybody for
the team ready, team on three. Put your hands in,
(57:49):
put your hands in. But it's just all those other coaches,
scouts in front office exacts. They're gonna remember the last
minute you put on a court let's go. But all
about a Jared Goff hot take? Ready for this a
hot take on Jared? Can I start a fire here? Oh?
I think you can. It's kind of chilly in the studio,
(58:09):
so we can start a fighting work for a little bit.
Maybe we'll just turn on a heater or something. But today,
as we watched the Patriots have their parade and watching
fans fight at the parade because you know they've won
six championships, they're just gonna start fighting each other, beat
everybody else back. It's gonna be a long time till
we played the Jets again. Let's all fight each other.
The two big stories coming off the Super Bowl continue
(58:32):
to be Jared Goff and Todd Gurley. We're gonna hear
from uh Eric Dickerson, who had something crazy to say
about Todd Gurley coming up in about twenty five minutes.
But Jared Goff and the horrendous game he played. I
want to know why pulling him from the game and
putting in Seawan Mannion wasn't something that was discussed. Look
at you right now now. I know it sounds crazy,
(58:55):
but follow me here for a second. And this plays
into the game that Sean McVeigh coached. He was out
of it from the beginning. Jared Goff had horrible body language,
thousand yards stayer the entire game. He never showed that
he could master anything that was gonna move the ball
down the field against the Patriots, and he had time
after time for time because they kept getting the ball back.
(59:17):
They had numerous chances, and Jared Goff did not respond.
He did not respond to adversity. And this is what
all the great quarterbacks in the NFL do they respond
to adversity. You're gonna stop me from doing something, even
if it's not my day. I'm gonna find a way
to persevere. That's what Tom Brady does. That's what Aaron
Rodgers does, That's what Russell Wilson does. That's what all
the great quarterbacks do. Well, you're stopping me from doing X.
(59:39):
I'm gonna do enough of why to be able to
win this game. Mentally, you could see on the sideline
he wasn't responding to anyone. Every time he walked off
the field after a three and out, it was staring
up at the crowd. You could tell he didn't know
what was going on. He was going through the motions
and the way the Rams and Sean McVeigh coach this
game was well, let's just stay in it instead of
(01:00:01):
trying to win the game, right, Let's let's continue what
let's run. Todd Gurley, well, you know the game is.
I don't want to go crazy changing his strategy because
Sean McVeigh went over the top trying to establish Jared
Goff that we're gonna throw the football and win. The
game's close, so so I don't want to make too
many big changes. So we're keeping it close, and they're
hoping against hope that someone's gonna make a play. Jared
Goff made zero plays, zero plays on his interception. Late
(01:00:24):
wouldn't step into the throw, dude, it's the bleeping Super Bowl, man,
you gotta step into You gotta take a hit and
step in and make that throw. And instead he short
armed it off his back foot and it was a
pick and that ended the game. At some point, when
it's three to three, when it's three nothing, you have
to realize Jared Goff is not pulling out of his
tail spin. He's not doing it. Are you trying to
win or you're trying to keep the game close. Jared
(01:00:46):
Goff does not have it. And I get it's a
hard decision because you are bound to Jared Goff for
the next twelve or fifteen years. Sean McVeigh and Jared Goff.
He's been to two Pro Bowls and you have to
figure things out. But this is a Super Bowl. You
may never get back there again. It's he just say, oh,
it's learning experience or what. You may never get back
there again. Dan Marino got there in a second year,
never got back again. You may never get back again.
(01:01:08):
You have to win this game. I know Sean Mannion
is untested, but it's obvious the Patriots had a scheme
in place to limit Jared Goff. Jared Goff couldn't find
open receivers. You know, that's what's been talked about with
the coaches. So and so was open on this play.
We could Reynolds was open here, this was this pass
is open, this was open in the flat, nothing and
Jared Goff wasn't finding it. Sean Mannon at least would
(01:01:28):
have brought a different energy, would have brought something that
maybe he's an unknown. So the Patriots gotta go, Okay,
what are we gonna do here? We don't know. We
haven't seen Sean Mannion. So maybe Sean Manny can lead
at least one touchdown drive, just one. You don't need
a ton, you don't need Manning to come in. You
knocked down twenty one points. You can come in and say, hey,
maybe you're able to get the ball down the field
a little bit more. Because all the Patriots did in
the fourth quarter when they tried to throw the football
(01:01:50):
and went for broke was wait for Jared Goff to
make a mistake and they wait a wait a way
because they knew he didn't have enough to get them downfield.
Mannion comes in and it's a different kind of energy.
Bill Parcels. Would we say, I can't spark a team
by changing the left guard. You spark a team by
changing the quarterback. And if you saw one thing, if
I saw one thing, that would tell me that you know,
Jared Goff may get this. He may get there in
(01:02:11):
the fourth quarter, he may the last couple of drives.
Now it's gonna be back and forth. I would say
keep the guy in, but he was absolutely cooked. And
because the Rams were, We're stuck on Hey, the game
is close. Maybe a defensive back will fall down. Maybe uh,
somebody's gonna trip and fall, Maybe the ball will pop
out of somebody's arms. Maybe Brady will throw a tipped interception,
which is basically what the Chiefs we're hoping was gonna
happen in the NFC title game, and we saw how
(01:02:32):
that turned out. If the Rams had tried about winning,
they could have done that. Because we saw in the
same stadium a year ago, Nick Saban say, thank you,
Jalen Hurts. This has been a wonderful run for you,
but you are sitting down for the second half and
we're putting in two a tongue of Viola who is
a five star recruit and maybe great, but we don't know.
We don't anything about the kid and what happens. He
won the National championship. Why because Nick Saban decided I'm
(01:02:54):
gonna make a move that tries to win this game
and I will figure out my quarterback situation after and
Sean McVeigh and the Rams decided we're just gonna kind
of go along here and hope something happens. That's not
how you coach and try to win game. Well. See,
I think McVeigh has gotten off a little bit easy
in this entire process in terms of the play calls.
And it goes back to the Pars game where Golf
was seeing ghosts. We saw it for several games down
(01:03:16):
the stretch. And the question here is was there a
big difference in what the Patriots did once they couldn't
communicate from the headset, which means Golf isn't getting the
extra help for his reads. Hell, he even had receivers
Robert Woods a couple of times going hey, they're blitzing.
They're blitzing Panta and he missed it, and then he's
got to force the ball out as he's about to
(01:03:37):
get drilled. And that's what you had on the interception
when he bailed out and didn't step into the throw.
And there's numerous examples of missed reads, missed opportunities. They
all twenty two. It's very damning. No, that's just it.
It's a horror show. As you go through the number
of all right, here's c. J. Anderson out of the backfield,
(01:03:57):
there's Reynolds, there's Reynolds again. Even the on cooks right,
great played by mccordy. To break it up. He ran
like a kid through a flower patch for forty yards.
So you've got all sorts of issues. I like the
way you're you're talking here because it goes back to
what we said with Baltimore. Lamar Jackson is not getting
it done. Hey, you know what, Joe Flackle, Let's go
(01:04:20):
now Flacco, more decorated, bigger contract, whatever else. But look,
if you're gonna go so far as to put Todd
Gurley and mothballs and haven't chewing his mouthpiece on the sideline,
that's the guy you just paid and you've already decided
a guy you signed off the street three weeks ago
was good enough. Man, you's been there all year, so
it may not be as hot takery as you want.
I'm sorry. There might be some logic to it, you know,
(01:04:43):
but but that's just it, right. What I said at
the time with the Ravens was if Lamar Jackson is
the guy that's gonna shrink because you take him out
because the game is not working right, then that's not
your guy long term. He's gotta understand he's missing, he's
not getting it done. And for that day, perh, there's
a better option. I would say for Jared Goff that
was that may have been the same thing Jeff Fisher
(01:05:04):
would have put in Shawn Manon. Jeff Fisher may have
started Shawn may have It's not gonna be Jared Goff's today.
We're gonna go with Manyon. I feel he can go
seven for nine, maybe get some things done. I'm not
gonna settle for seven for nine. That's pretty good. But
McVeigh right goes away from Gurley. You got the run
(01:05:25):
game finally looks like it's gonna jump, So you know,
Jared goff and Todd Gurley or taking all the heat,
and mcveigh's over there. He goes, it's on me, and
everybody's no, it's not coach, it's not on you. You're
still a genius. We still love you. You're all taking
the blame and that's great, but in the end, you know,
it's still happened. It's like, you know, I can I could,
you know, I could go home and I could break
(01:05:46):
my Now I'm gonna say this, it's gonna happen. I
probably my wife's big serving plate from her mom. No, no, no, no,
I'd never get up in that, in that in that
high closet, doesn't matter. But I could break you got
hands and I would say and I could say, oh
my god, I'm so sorry, and she would say, yeah,
I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, and she would say,
(01:06:07):
what happened. I would say, well, Zoe and I were
kind of full around throwing a football and I grabbed
the thing and the plate and it broke, and which
means I had to drop the pass off my finger.
That but that doesn't change the fact that this blade
is still broken. And it was a really big deal
to her because I broke it. I mean, that doesn't change.
This doesn't change. Nice to you takeing. Look I'm taking
(01:06:29):
respond and we give so much over credit to taking responsibility.
It's nice, but it was still your fault. It's like
you're your quarterback, say that was my fuld on that interception,
my fault on that. You know, it just goes back
to but how how long you how it comes back
to the Patriots twitter out? How about a fresco Mike
at swollen dumb that Jason and can I finish talking?
(01:06:50):
My goodness, you're yelling you're crazy today, you are a lunatic.
Coming up in a minute, we have the latest on
the Anthony Davis trade. Guess whose mouth is getting involved now?
But first, David Gascon has what trends we can talk Lakers,
we can continue to get into this. Uh. They still
(01:07:12):
want to talk to the Pelicans about one Anthony Davis,
but they no longer want to bid against themselves. That's
according to ESPN's Adrian war Zonalski. Lakers are waiting for
some kind of counter arm offer. Pelicans are looking from
six to eight draft picks for his services. Meanwhile, Lakers
did confirm Lebron James will play tonight against the Indiana Pacers.
Didn't playing it back to back. Just last week, Washington
(01:07:32):
Wizards announced that John Wall will have surgery with a
ripture a chill his tenant, but they out at least
twelve more months. The injury report they happened at Wall's
house when he slipped and fell. Celtics big man Marcus
Morris won't play tonight against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NFL.
How would Hollywood, Florida police have confirmed that Steiler's wide
receiver Antonio Brown was involved in a domestic dispute in January,
(01:07:54):
but no rest were made. Brown's attorney denies that this
client was involved in any of that. Mewall rams on
the back. Todd Gurley did not meet with the media
today in the final availability. Reports to say that West
Wolker is expected to join San Francisco's coaching staff. Carlos
Korea want to sell her arbitration case against the Houston
Astrils will make five million dollars the season and the
(01:08:15):
National Hockey leagu Austin Matthews has signed a five year
contract extension with the Toronto mape Leaves with an average
annual value of eleven point six three four million dollars.

Back to the Doug Gottlieb Show with Jason Smith and
Mark Harmon in just ten seconds. But wait, wait, just
a minute. You just called me Mark. Yeah, wait, you
called him Mark Harmon. Way to go day walking, you
(01:09:00):
of the building cast gone, nice job. I'm in a
bad mood. I'm gonna I'll tell you what that just
turn things up. I'm going Patriots fan on you Ramos
still laughing? What are you in a good mood? What's that? You? Guys?
Do know that our friend John Ramos is a rat?
Right WHOA used to candy here in the vending machine
(01:09:20):
until Ramos shot up? Shout out to John Ramos. Anyways, guys,
we got a message from our friends over here to farmers.
They I say hello from a dog accidentally flooding a
living room to a dog taking a joy ride. We've
covered it. Talk to farmers. We know a thing or two.
Because we've seen a thing or two. We are farmers
(01:09:41):
under written my Farmers Fire and Exchange and Affiliates parts
not available in every state. Now back to the Gut
Live show at Jason Smith and Michael Harmon, Gentlemen the floor, Jr.
Thank you, David So amid all the Anthony Davis drama,
the Lakers have decided to pull back from any more
offers on Davis. They want to hear back from the
pell Aikins. This deal may now not happen. All this
(01:10:02):
is all the big Woes bomb we got from Ajor
Wozarowski earlier today. LaVar Ball has now decided to get
involved because a Lonzo ball being one of the center
pieces of any trade for Anthony Davis. And let's face it,
Lakers have like eight center pieces of this trade. Not
that it's a great center pieces. Yeah, it's like when
(01:10:23):
you go to the do a wedding and it's just
like a little cup with a with a flower in it.
It's like a very small centerpiece. LaVar Ball would like
a Lonzo to end up with Phoenix instead of being
traded to New Orleans. One of the things that upset
with the Lakers on is that he has turned a
Lonzo Ball from a winning player into someone who is
too accustomed to losing. The Lakers gave my boy that
(01:10:45):
losing out too. If you look at my boys, one
thing they do do is win, being undefeated, Jello and Mellow,
winning sixty games in a row. I mean, my boys
don't lose too much. But when he got to the Lakers,
they got there. Luke Walton was the worst coach ever
for Alonzo because he had a loving mentality. Yes, because
you can easily compare going undefeated in high school to
winning an NBA championship. I don't know he got the
(01:11:05):
dodo right when he started talking, does he does? He really?
I mean, he really thinks Chino Hills is like, you know,
the English Premier League in soccer. You know, he thinks
he thinks it's up level above the NBA. Dude, you're
playing high I realize you'd beat the Knicks, but dude,
you're talking about your three kids in high school. It
doesn't just say, well, anybody because they want a championship
in high school, with a championship in college, win a
(01:11:27):
championship in the NBA. But still, but still, he absolutely
thinks that. And now he's throwing Luke Walton under the bus.
He's upset because he sees A. Lonzo Ball's time in
l A coming to an end. And he had this
grand plan that Lonzo was gonna take over l A
and LaVar Ball was going to be the real head
coach of the Lakers without actually having to coach a game.
He thought all of this was gonna happen. And still
(01:11:49):
he thinks the plan by getting all three of his
kids together is gonna result in untold NBA fortune. If
you get all three odds, dare old you will get
Sam your ship. If I don't, I will jump off
the roof on my knees. I won't even put my
feet down. That's gonna be tough, hopefully jumping into a pool,
because that's not gonna happen, because look, no one's gonna
(01:12:09):
sign Jello Ball. LaMelo Ball still as a great prospect
as he was, LaVar Ball is screwed his career. He's
gone from being a high school start. Now he's at Lithuania.
Now he's at some school in Ohio and who yeah,
breaking media and oh you know they can have the
three of them play in the G League. They can
go undefeated and win, but they could play in the
(01:12:30):
Big Baller League and go undefeat. They can help the
branding and I mean there's merchandizing to be had for
the Big Three and and ice Cube look at that.
But the reality is that you've awakened him in this process.
He'd gone away, right, he deferred Lebron James, He'd gone
he'd gone under right. Whatever dollars they were weren't making
(01:12:52):
on shoes, sliders and shirts and everything else. Is not
making money? Okay, probably not well they were working off
of a Lonzo Balls paychecks more likely, but the reality
was it had gone away. And now because you've got
fourteen fifty, I for lost track how many leaked trade
rumors slash offers are out there, how many are legit,
(01:13:15):
how many are just you know, pieces that are cobbed,
cobbled together by media sources based on what they're hearing.
I mean the fact that you you've now got him
and that locker room, and we talked about it a
little bit with Antonio Daniels. You and I discussed it
this morning, like Lebron James gonna walk back in and
just kind of strolling. And I know when he came
back off his month hiatus. Uh Tanya Gungouli of The
(01:13:38):
l A Time said it was went dead silent when
he walked in the locker room. That's how tense it
was with everybody there because they know he's the one
that's picking and choosing the groceries and who stays and
who goes. All right, that guy's expendable. I like that
guy a little more. He's probably given a color coded
list like you're doing your tiered fantasy football rankings. All right,
(01:13:59):
this guy's an A list. Guy like him. Most be
like that guy. You could just package all those guys.
That's fine. And so they gotta come back and play
Indiana tonight. They might fight on the court. But let's
focus on the LaVar Ball aspect of it here and realize,
let's just because we've talked many times about how destructive
he's been for his son's basketball careers, let's just say
(01:14:20):
this right, think about if where his kids would be,
where a Lonzo would be if LaVar Ball had never
said a word, If we didn't know LaVar Ball's name.
All right, here's what would have happened. A Lonzo would
have had that incredible season at u c l A
declared for the draft. He would have been the number two,
maybe number one, maybe number three overall, but it probably
still ends up here. He probably do without without all
(01:14:40):
the Magic's gonna one up right, U c l A. Guy.
The Lakers need a point guard magic and draft his
point guard, the next best guy. But at worst, maybe
the Celtics take him. Maybe if the Lakers don't, maybe
the Sixers take him number one istead of mark el
Folts and nobody gets scared off by LaVar Ball. So
he he still goes in the top three. And he
(01:15:02):
is an ascending player who is game. His full game
is rounding into shape. He is a kid that sees
the court phenomenally, and he were talking about him as
being the next Jason kid. He still has issues with
his free throw shooting. His three pointer looks terrible, but
he is an ascending talent and anything the Lakers want
to trade for to make their team better, Alonzo Ball
(01:15:23):
is untouchable. He's the untouchable guy besides Lebron James in
any trade, and so Alonzo was staying as the Lakers
try to me remake this roster. But because LaVar Ball
has been so divisive and has has caused all kinds
of problems and the Lakers have had it with him,
you now have a negative image of Alonzo, who has
never said, Dad, cool it. He has never said on
(01:15:44):
my own person, Dad, You've got to stop criticizing the
head coach. You gotta stop doing this because anytime LaVar
Ball says something, that's got to creep in that. What's
Alonzo telling him? Does Alonzo think that Luke Walton's a
bad coach? To all of these things have happened, all
of these things don't happened, and Alonzo was looked as
an asset. But because of this, this is where you're
at now. A Lonzo Ball is someone the Lakers can't
(01:16:06):
wait to get him out of town and can't wait
to move on at that position. Had LaVar Ball just
shut up his kid, Alonzo is in much better play
and he is staying a Laker for a long time,
or a Celtic or whatever it is, and his NBA
career is on the upswing. Instead, now you're worried about
him being traded to New Orleans, and you want to
get him to Phoenix. That's your that that's your plan
now is Phoenix is great. The worst team in the NBA, sorry,
(01:16:27):
second worst team in the NBA. Mix, second worst team
with most future. Now suddenly it's we got to get there.
That's where you're at. Had he never spoken, it's a
much different NBA career and trajectory for Alonzo. But yeah,
get him to Phoenix, let him run the point with
DeAndre Ayton, and away you go. Maybe maybe there's something there,
but in the end, it's the the battle with Lebron
(01:16:49):
James and his team, Magic Johnson, Like Lebron was coming
here right building his empire and everything rolls through. But
the way Magic Johnson treated it, you're gonna be in
the rafters and everything else. Wilson celebrating it to that
high level. That puts even more pressure on this trade process,
not just because Lonzo now ends up in part of it,
but your whole tenure as an executive is. And this
(01:17:11):
Lebron James experiment that we call it at the moment
the successor failure. Now, coming back on Magic Johnson, he's
been untouchable, he's been the Teflon guy other than the
Magic Hour, and now all of a sudden, you know
there's the cracks in the armor. Twitterat how about a Fresco?

One of America because favorite games. And now say what
(01:19:06):
does the Fox say? And today we go to the
Herd with Colin Coward where Eric Dickerson, l a Rams
Hall of Fame running back, waited on the lack of
Todd Gurley's usage in the Super Bowl because Girle in Golf,
as we've said, this hour really have been the two
biggest conversation pieces coming off the Super Bowl. And this
is what Ed had to say about Todd Gurley's lack
of touches. You ever seen the movie Face Off with
(01:19:29):
Jonathan Volter and Nicholas Cage, It was he was a
different guy. This is almost like Jeff Fisher, Sean mcvain.
I mean like it was like a sweet alm. He
coached like Jeff Fisher that day. The offense is Man,
I'm disappointed, man, I'm serious. The big thing in this
football game. I got a call from Hall of Famer
(01:19:51):
Richard Dent. I got a call from Hall of Famer
Ricky Jackson and my good friend Harvey Armstone who played
for the Eagles, who played SMU together. All three of
them said the same thing at first, Man, ain't you'll
running football? It's it's girl. It was just it's girly
hurt I said. I talked to him the night before.
He said someone I ain't seen him a text. Go
get that m v P. That was a perfect time
(01:20:12):
to run the football. Run C j Anderson either man.
Look C Janerson is a good player, he really is,
but he's not Todd Gurley. You play your best player.
That's like taking Tom Brady out the game and putting
somebody else in. So that was Eric Dickerson earlier today
on the Herd. So this is what's gonna happen as
(01:20:35):
time goes on. You know, we said we we talked
earlier about Oh, Sean mcveigh's a learning experience. Look Sean
mcvas thirty three years old. He may very well make
it back to multiple Super Bowls. He may never make
it back again. But his biggest regret when you asked
him at the end of his coaching career. It's thirty three,
thirty five years from now. He's going to say, I
really should have gotten the ball to Todd Gurley in
the Super Bowl. But because he was so overcome with
(01:20:58):
making sure Jared Golf was trying to get him right
and falling in love with throwing the football more than
he should. The game was close, so he coached the
game like, well, the guy, I don't want to do
too many crazy things because the game is close. Meanwhile,
Jared Goff stunk, Todd Gurley is a guy that needs
the football. At Tome, he was healthy. We know he
was healthy. Jay Glazer sat across from us in this
(01:21:21):
studio a few days ago and looked us in the
eye and said, Todd Gurley is healthy. But he had
fallen out of favor a little bit, didn't quite have
the confidence, and so the job was split between he
and C. J. Anderson. Last Friday night, I said, if
Todd Gurley runs well, the Rams win the Super Bowl.
If not, they're not gonna win. And that's exactly what happened.
Girl is a guy that needs the football twenty times
(01:21:43):
a game. He needs the ball. He looked like he
was starting to really get into a rhythm later in
the game and still eleven touches. This guy's the best
running back in football and the the offenses run through him,
and that's how you score thirty three points a game.
But still they went away from Todd Gurley won. Clearly
giving him the football is a better option than having
Jared Goff throw the football three times. All right, at
(01:22:05):
least the worst thing you're gonna get for Todd Gurley
is two yards. Okay, now it's second and eight instead
of second and tent. But he looked like he was
getting close to breaking it, and you have to realize
you gotta help your third year quarterback who clearly was
a deer in headlights for the Super Bowl by giving
the ball to your all pro running back, and that
didn't happen. Trust me, that's going down the biggest regret.
Like we say, Bill Belichick at the end of his
(01:22:25):
career is gonna be honest by saying, I should have
played Malcolm Butler in the Super Bowl because maybe we
would have won that game against the Eagles, even though
I didn't like him. He had two bad playoff games.
This is gonna be Sean mcveigh's biggest regret I should
have given the ball more to Todd Gurley and maybe
we win that game. No guarantee you get back. You
look at the division is gonna get better around you, Uh,
and suddenly you're you're fighting fighting out there. I mean,
(01:22:46):
we don't know what San Francisco b Garoppolo coming back
and whatever they were able to put together. Arizona new
coach Rosen, when he was able to be upright, looked
like he could fling the ball down and I still
don't know what receivers you had. Fitzgerald and a little
bit of Christian Kirk, but curiosity, free agency, the draft
to come. I mean, you've got a division that's gonna
(01:23:07):
try to catch up with you. When you look at
Todd Gurley, C. J. Anderson, you didn't commit to either
of them, right as Eric uh intimated there. I mean,
you're talking about seventeen total touches between and you go
back to the holding call on the one girly run.
That's the first time he really showed the bounce to
the outside that you're so accustomed to write. It gets
called back fine, and then you go three and out
(01:23:28):
from that point right, you give the ball right back
and then they scored the touchdown and as game over.
But and then you had a sixteen yard run like
there were a couple of opportunities and you went away instead.
You had missed opportunity and miss read and miss blitz
is by Jared Up. You only targeted Girly once in
the passing game. That was his big That's what separates him, right,
(01:23:49):
We keep getting into Levy on Bell. It's the same thing.
That's what separates these guys and makes them all purpose
and makes your offense that much more dangerous, and you
abandon it altogether. Biggest regret of his career here, coaching
career is gonna be that. I promise you Twitter at
al about a Fresca Mike at Swollen Dome, Jason Smith,
Mike Harmon in for Doug Gottlieb. Coming up next, the
latest on the Anthony Davis trade rumors, Why the Pelicans
(01:24:12):
may be making a mistake Fox Fox Sports Radio. It
is a Doug Gottlieb Show. Jason Smith, Mike Harman from
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon her nights here
on Fox. In for Doug. We got Karen Butler stopping
(01:24:33):
buying about fifteen minutes I'm gonna give us his take
on what's going on with the Lakers and the Pelicans
as things have gotten really crazy on the Anthony Davis front,
and really this is where he've been at so far. Today.
Just before the show started, Agent Watch and Rowski VSPN
dropped the big Woes bomb that the Lakers have pulled
out of any further offers for Anthony Davis. They want
(01:24:56):
the Pelicans to get back to them before they continue
to go oceany any further. So technically you could say
the Lakers pulled out of negotiating, but they want to
make the trade. They're just waiting for the Pelicans to
get back to them. And short of the Pelicans calling
and saying, hey, we want like nine draft picks and
every single person on your roster, the Lakers are just
waiting for them to call back saying this is what
(01:25:17):
we want. The Lakers will say yes, yes, whatever you want, Yes, yes,
we'll do it. We'll do it. We gotta do it.
You mean all they need to do, We'll do it.
Just waiting on it. I think you're gonna find Rob
polink Is gonna say up just by calling us on
us answering the phone. That is an agreement to a trade.
We're sending the paperwork into the league. Is there a
way to detext one letter at a time where they
can see what you're instead of the dot dot dot
(01:25:39):
on your iPhone. It's no. The y shows up and
and polink in magic Pop champagne. They're home fired up,
like you all need to come back with something serious. Really,
that's there's gonna be no more negotiating. It's gonna be
if the Pelicans say something that the Lakers can swallow,
they'll say yes right away. But the l A Times
(01:26:01):
is reporting that the latest round of negotiations have gone
like this. The Lakers have offered Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma,
brandon Ingram Josh Hart because zoobots Cantabia's Callwell, Pope, that's
a lot of players, that's a lot of people. Yeah, said,
we'd have to get this done now, and the Pelicans
have responded by intimating they would like six to eight
(01:26:26):
draft picks from the Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis.
Now the eight draft we want your draft for the
next four years. No, I like that. I mean, look,
if you're gonna go strong, I mean just say here's
we want all that and the kitchens sa I'd say great,
here's eight second round picks. Great, congratulations, good take them go.
One hour ago, the Pelicans sent out the tweet that
(01:26:48):
Anthony Davis is listened as questionable for Wednesday's game at Chicago.
That's brilliant. Two hours ago they put out a an
emoji with a monocle and a for or im owl.
How many licks to get to the bottom of this
TUTSI pop one too three? You get to the bottom
(01:27:08):
of this trade? The world may never know. Uh, how
many bites at the Apple do you take? Sign up
for a chance to win a Pelican's Marty garagersy game tickets,
fitness classes and more fitness classes. I think you said glasses, okay,
monicle night at the Smoothie King Center. No, it is
(01:27:30):
that you've had some horrible giveaway. That would be the
worst giveaway ever. I get a monocle, here's a here's
a bobble ahead of a guy that we traded a
mona that But despite the fact that Anthony Davis is
questionable playing tonight, is Lebron James. In fact, he was
reached to shoot around a few moments ago and was
given his chance to speak out about the potential players
(01:27:53):
involved in a Lakers trade with the Pelicans, and Lebron
responded by saying, I don't like you, Mike Harmon, I
don't like anybody. I don't like Michael Fabiano. I don't
like any of you guys do this fantasy stuff for
a living. I kind of tend not to play much
fantasy basketball, you know, And that's just how I've always been. Um,
it's something what's her ker with our team, and no
(01:28:13):
matter if it's if it's him or for somebody else
whout the trade dairline, we will approach it then. But
right now, this is the group that we have, and
at the end of the day, we have a job
to do. And we all know this is a business.
You go out and you prepare as a professional, and
that's what you that's what you're supposed to do, you know.
Right now, this is who we have, and this is
my group, and this is the group I'm trying to
lead to go out there and win ball games. I've
(01:28:35):
had teammates every year be a part of trade dayline
discussions and things of that nature, and we've always figured
out a way. It's just shield that way and just
played to play the game. And then he took a
sip of wine. And but this is the way. I'm
trying to be a comedian, and I'm gonna be the
straight man in this running joke. Look, we just we
(01:28:55):
don't get into the fantasy basketball. That's all you're doing,
trading the guy the guys on the white board. Yeah,
but you're the only guy that's not involved in the
trade rumor you're the only guy trying to execute the trade.
Wait a minute, Wait a minute, Golden Headphones is SV
named in any trade? I haven't seen anywhere is I
(01:29:17):
think he might be untouchable. He might untouchable. Yeah, you
know it's hard with that. Yeah, you know what, really
it's hard. You kind of made it hard. But when
they when the when the Calves remade their team two
years ago the deadline and trade at half their team
in the whow that was something? This said nothing on that.
This This is you can talk about your entire roster, injured,
reserve players on future contracts, guys in the G League,
(01:29:38):
assistant coaches, everybody. It's like you're going to a tasting menu.
Take one item from from the first column. Those are
the first two players, those are the guys that value highest.
Take two from that third that third list. And then
when you go to a restaurant, when you get you
get one appetizer. It's the fixed place, Manu, Right, I
get one app you get a choice of these two entrees,
(01:29:58):
and you get these two desserts. I mean, really, this
is how silly it is for the Lakers. And we've
talked about on the show how they've gotten played by
the Pelicans in the NBA, because now if this trade
has not made, all these players have to go back
and they have to try to make something of this
lost season. The players already, I'm sure skeptical of Lebron,
they already don't like Luke. Walton had a big meeting
this week and they were piste off at him. And
(01:30:19):
so now the league has succeeded in potentially breaking the
Lakers for this year, they don't have to worry about
this year. Lebron James is prime because the Lakers have
ruined themselves by putting all these names out there for
a trade that likely is not gonna happen. But let's
just say the Pelicans don't trade Anthony Davis. And you
think greener pastures are gonna wait you in the off season.
(01:30:42):
I took economics in high school because it was offered,
and I didn't really do that, you know, you know
I didn't. You know. You know the Bears and the bulls,
and you know which which we have to discussion before.
The Bulls are good the Bears are bad. Right, that's
how it Bulls good, Bears bad. Even though it's the opposite,
the opposite, and sports don't relate it to the current
fortunes of either team. But the one thing I understand
(01:31:05):
is the concept of supply and demand a right, So
where are you sitting right now? Supply and demand. Demand
is very high. Four star players in the NBA. Everybody's
waiting for the off season. The supply is very low
because right now, the only player is Anthony Davis. That's it.
Nobody else you're not You're gonna not gonna get anybody
else until at least the off season. Well, you're not
gonna get a big man, right. The only guys that
(01:31:27):
might have anybody, no nobody, No big stars are gonna
be not the guys will be out there at the
end of the not the guy on the the entree
of your fixed many fixed price menu. I mean, right now,
you may have a Bradley Beal and we know that
Kyle Lowry is being shocked. But yeah, but those things
(01:31:48):
but not those stars. Those game change. You know, you listen,
you're gonna say, oh boy, if I get the filet,
the fixed price menu is a hundred dollars. If I
get the pasta, it's thirty five dollars. So so yeah,
you're apasta. Guys going to the high like steak too.
So right now the supply is very short, so you're
going to get the best offers now when he's the
(01:32:10):
only guy available. And what have we seen. The Lakers
have said, well, this is what we have, so take
whatever you want. The Knicks have said, well we have Porzingis.
He won't sign with you. So now the Knicks are
out and the Celtics he's not gonna go there, And
the Celtics say, well wait till the officers. Maybe things
are different for us and the other two teams that
(01:32:30):
he said he'd signed long term with, the Milwaukee Bucks
and the l A Clippers haven't put out an offer yet,
so maybe they just have better people that keep the least.
I mean it couldn't look Tobias Harris and and Lou
Williams and montrez Al could completely be on their way.
And we don't know, but Steve Balmber is just better
at it than everybody else's. But this is what we know. Unfortunately,
(01:32:50):
these are the best offers you're getting for Anthony Davis.
These are the best offers right with supply being he's
the only guy out there, and this is the best
people are gonna do because this is now when they
can get him. Now, fast forward to the end of
the season and we talk about supply and demand. Supply
is gonna be huge because you have a d Kevin Durant,
(01:33:12):
Kyrie Irving, Boogie Cousins, Clay Thompson, Kawhi Leonard, you have
tons of great players who Anthony Davis fits in right
along beside. And these same teams are gonna be the
ones in the market for Anthony Davis that are in
for these players. The Lakers are gonna be in for
another star. It could be Anthony Davis, it could be
(01:33:32):
Kawhi Leonard, it could be Kyrie Irving. They don't care.
They need another player who will play alongside. Look, the
NBA now the way it is with with people playing
not going to quite position lists. Uh five's on the floor.
But it doesn't matter. You don't need to have, no
longer need to have. We have the two guards, we
have our two forwards or power forward or center. You
don't have to do that. So you will fit guys
around Lebron can fit with Kawhi Leonard. They will find
(01:33:53):
a way to do it. So the Knicks are also
going to be in for at least two of those guys.
The Celtics will be in for one of those guys,
maybe too, depending on what happens with Kyrie Irving. So
the same teams are in that are in now. For
Anthony Davis, what's the big thing at the end of
the year, Well, these guys who have said, hey, I
have an interest level in here. Great, We're gonna talk
to them. And the thing is all they cost is money,
(01:34:15):
all right, so you but you have money to spend.
The Knicks cleared all kinds of money. Hey, they'll give Hey, Kyrie,
whatever you want, we'll give it to you. Kad whatever
you want, we'll give it to you. There's there's be
no negotiated. Do you want to come here? That's it now?
You want Anthony Davis, and supposedly it's gonna be, Hey,
we're gonna make this. We're gonna sign him, we're gonna
give him a lot of money, and we're gonna give
you five guys in six draft picks. That's not happening.
(01:34:38):
The offers are gonna get less because there's gonna be
more players out there the teams can go get. The
Celtics may say, oh, don't do anything to Anthony Davis
right now. We want to pursue and want to pursue him.
But now you're giving a whole bunch of time to
go on, and you're giving Anthony Davis his dad a
chance to come out and say, my son is not
gonna go there. I don't want him to go there.
And now, are you really gonna make a make a
break the bank for a trade? You're really gonna trade
Jayson Tatum and a couple other guys for Anthony Davis. No,
(01:35:00):
you're not gonna do it. So now suddenly you wait
till the end and things are gonna be much different,
and they will take a worst deal now than the
Lakers trade. What'sever out there. I don't like the Lakers deal.
I wouldn't take it if I was the Pelicans. But
you gotta move Anthony Davis, and this is the best
thing that's out there. Sometimes you just gotta take what's
best you can. You don't you don't get You reach
for the stars, right, it wasn't you. Sometimes you you
reach for the stars and you're falling the sky or
(01:35:21):
whatever is that stupid thing, whatever you're reaching whatever, you know,
you reach high and you takes what you kept saying,
reach for this guy, and this is that that was
that was keep your feet on the ground and keep Yeah,
well in this case, it's okay. You can say you
want and Anthony Davis is worth this, but he's only
worth what the marketplace bears. This is why economics is
(01:35:43):
so important, because this is what it is. This is
what you're gonna get. I'm sorry it's not more, but
this is really the best offer and it's not going
to get better in the office, no. And that's why
the Pelicans war room heading into the draft or trade deadline,
to me is the most interesting place in the world
because how much is this is not giving in to
Rich Paul and Lebron James And you mentioned Anthony Davis's dad.
(01:36:05):
He he helped awaken LaVar ball too, right, so you
got all the trade offers. Plus he's not gonna be
the only crazy dad talking come trade deadline. No, LaVar
had to show up and make sure he got his
two cents in as well. So for the Pelicans, it's
really just that that big question of all right, what
are you thinking about your franchise short term versus your
pride being wounded by the NFL and potentially being strong
(01:36:29):
armed by Rich Paul and the the NBA based on
some of the rules having to deal with the Celtics
and their inability to move Right now, I'd love to
be there for the next forty eight hours. Fascinating psychology

and Karen, I'm gonna hit you with some breaking news.
You have been included in the latest Lakers offered to
the Pelicans for Anthony Davis. So hopefully you can give
him a couple updowns. Hey man, I wouldn't be surprised.
You know, they're asking for everything, you know what I mean,
They're asking for the panel and the spectrum. They asked
for everybody in studio, the court side, reporter, everything. So
(01:38:39):
it's just, hey man, I'm happy that Magic had pulled
out of talks and negotiations and they said, look, man,
this it's not even reasonable. It's not even the even
playing Phil And you know, you guys come back when
you're serious about the discussion. Now Here's the big thing
for me is we found out today the Lakers are
pulled out. They want them, as you said, they want
(01:38:59):
the pell come back with a more realistic offer than
all these players in six to eight draft picks. If
this deal doesn't go down, how does it to take
me into the locker room? How does it work for
all these players, because the whole roster has been mentioned
as going to New Orleans R Anthony Davis. How do
they move past that and and not turn this into
a lost year. Well, I'm gonna tell you. I had
(01:39:20):
a situation in which I actually did get traded, So
it wasn't like a rebuttal where it didn't happen in
an all of a sudden, I had to go back
and just you know, go to my normal routine. So
I was moved, and I was moved for Shaquille O'Neal.
I would have traded myself a shot. And they have
to understand that when you're in the business space and

guys come available, these this is the business of it.
This decide that we don't like, but this is the space,
this is the profession that we choose to be in.
And everybody has to be grown up about the situation.
So once that doesn't happen, you know, you have to
move forward and continue. You know what your job at hand,
and you know, obviously the camaraderie and the energy is
(01:40:03):
probably gonna be a little distorted. You know, no matter
what anyone tell you, they might be oh no, you
know what we understand this business. But you know it
is kind of different vibes because you know that Lebron
is probably talking to Magic and he's supposed to talk
to him. You know, he's the franchise guy and that's
what he's there, and he want to know, you know,
how bad do we want A? And David's on the
team and you know he got to look at all
(01:40:23):
those things and the components of the roster. So you know,
if it falls through, those guys just have to, you know,
go back to the drawing board, stay together and just
try to figure out how to you know, get wins.
As Dino Brown said, right, always business never personal. But
you got back city owners there you go sit your
(01:40:47):
But I mean that's yeah. I mean you got twenty
one to twenty three year old guys that are the
at the I mean five of the nineteen players listed here. Man,
who's gonna be the one to sit with him? Who
who's gonna be able to calm that down? And now
you've awakened the mouth that roardon LaVar Ball. Yeah, he
was he was new for some time. Man. I was
(01:41:08):
I was really impressed by that. I was trying to
see who who was the puppet who was Chapeto who
was like making him be quiet over there for so long. Man,
that was just amazing to see that. But now he's
up and he's he's ready to talk again. So you know,
let the chips fall where me Karen? When it comes
to this trade now and you've seen everything going on
(01:41:29):
right now, do the Pelicans really want to trade Anthony
Davis or are they just making it look like they are.
And at the end, he's gonna wind up staying a Pelican.
I think he It looks like he's gonna, you know,
end up with the ransom that they're holding him at.
It looks like he's gonna remain a Pelican. And you know,
they probably don't get a more favorable deal in the
(01:41:50):
summer because you know, think about it. Who who you
gonna deal what you're gonna deal with the Celtics, Okay,
Kyrie won't be in that situation. Now, you can deal
with them. Are you gonna be wining to give away
a young superstar and Jayson Tatum? Are you gonna be
willing to give away Brown? And Marcus Smart and and
some picks? And when you look at the situation in hindsight,
you're gonna be like, Okay, the Los Angeles Lakers just
(01:42:12):
offered me Kyle Kuzman or Anny room Rondo, Blonzo Ball,
Zoo Bach pick like they gave me everything. So it's like,
you have to do what's best for the organization going forward,
and you can't have sports raids. You talk about players
being like how are you how are they gonna get
back to the drawing board and move forward? But you
(01:42:33):
also got to look at the organizations too, how are
you gonna like move forward? This is the best scenario
for the Pelicans, I feel right now. And you know,
Magic put the ball in their court. They didn't take
advantage of it. So now negotiations are off. Well, that
was the thing I brought up to Jason before Corona
is you know, these guys are still smarting from what
that went down in the NFC title game, same ownership group,
(01:42:56):
and they feel like they got worked by a league
maybe Lebron James and Rich Paul. The power play at
this point was too much for them to bear. Yeah,
I I totally agree, and and I would say that
too that that's interesting. You brought that up because when
I talked to a source close to the situation. They
said that, you know that ownership group, you can't manage
(01:43:18):
football football the same way you manage basketball and vice versa.
So like, if you're looking at a situation, you know,
you're dealing with salaries and things like that, and you
pay your quarterback and there's so many non guaranteed contracts
and so forth in that space. But with basketball, you
know you had a chance, you had Rondo there. You
didn't capitalize on that opportunity. Uh, you you got your
(01:43:40):
holiday and you have Anthony Davis and you don't have
the support. I don't even know. I mean, I know
because I'm in this space, but a lot of people
don't even know you know, six or five other guys
on that roster because it's not appealing names. But you
have a top five talent in the association. And I
just asked, you know the listeners that's listening right now.
If you're twenty five years old and you want to
(01:44:02):
get it right with your career, you're talking about legacy,
where would you want to be? You know a couple
of organizations that jump off the screen at me is
the Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, San Antonio
Miami Heat teams that want championships in the more recent
past where they don't know how to get it done.
You had Jason out of the edge of the See
(01:44:22):
he's gonna say the Knicks, you didn't how its later
say the next say and you left the next out.
All right, So let's just say this trade doesn't happen,
and now the Lakers in the rest of the league
has to pivot to something else. We saw the news today.
John Wall falls at his home and tears his achilles.
(01:44:45):
He was rehabbing an injury. He's out for at least
another twelve months. Does this mean suddenly Bradley Beal is
involved in the Wizards think about starting over, and suddenly
that's a team in the mix with a star player. Well,
I was just out in Washington and that's been some
time out there where Ernie and those guys don't want
to London for the uh the game, uh, the London
(01:45:06):
games with the Knicks and the Wizards. And they had said, look,
we're staying pack, we're standing together. But now when you
look at the additional injury of Wall, and you know
how that contracts, that contract will hold them hostage going forward.
If if you're Bradley Bill in your camp, you have
to understand that, look, you're gonna be playing to just
(01:45:27):
be good enough. You're gonna be somewhere between five and eight.
You're probably gonna barely make the playoffs and continue to
get knocked out in the first round. And I think
at some point he's gonna have to question his legacy.
And I think that he feels like he's a superstar
in this game, which he is, and his versatility and
all these things are being shown, but you know, probably
want to be on a different platform. And I just
(01:45:49):
don't think that Ernie grant Field in that organization is
going to be so willingly to let him go and
walk away. But it's something that has to be thought
about from him, and I think it has to come
from him in order for Washington to even consider thinking
about billing Hill. You can follow Karan Butler on Twitter

The Patriots have a parade and there's a brawl, and
(01:47:16):
Tom Brady practices false modesty. But first let's check in
with what's trending with David gascon d what's happening. Gronkowski
looked great during that parade, one handing those beers that
were throwing to Hamlet's on that float. Future Hall of
You think that was a surprise, and that's like most
(01:47:37):
ly surprising, that hand eye coordination. I do think there's
skill involved with that, especially because you know that dude's
intoxicated drink beer went just just in. David catching a
flying beer like Stone Cold can do that in the ring,
but Gronk on a moving float. Different story. Alright. Anyways,
(01:47:57):
we'll start things off from the NBA age of Janowski
has been awfully busy today. First reported on the Lakers
this morning that they're pulling out of some trade talks
right now because they don't want to bid against themselves.
Pelicans want six to eight draft picks for the services
of one Anthony Davis. I. Meanwhile, or Jannowsky also report
that Orlando Magic big man Mobamba is gonna be out
for quite a bit with a stress fracture and his
(01:48:18):
lower left leg. Lakers do confirm that Lebron James will
play tonight against the Indiana Pacers. You guys mentioned just
a couple of minutes ago, the Wizards are gonna be
without John Walser in additional twelve months. Ripturt Achilles Tendon
will be on at least another year. Reportedly fell at
his house, slipped and fell. Hollywood, Florida. Police have confirmed
Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown was involved in a domestic
dispute back in January, but no arrests were made. Brown's
(01:48:42):
attorney denies that that incident even happened at all. Jets
parting the way as the Center Spencer Lawn today if
they kept him on the roster tomorrow, we've been owed
a three million dollar guaranteed roast roster bonus. Rams running
back Todd Gurley not meet with the media today and
their final availability, so he's off for the ra time.
Reports out there say west Walker is expected to join
(01:49:03):
San Francisco's coaching staff. Callus kay, I want to sell
arbitration case with the Houston Astros. Will make five million
dollars this upcoming season and the NHL. Austin Matthews has
signed a five year contract extension with the Toronto Maple
Leafs with an average annual value of eleven points six
three four million dollars. Back to the Doug Gottlieb Show
with Jason Smith and Michael Harmon in just ten seconds.
(01:49:26):
But first a word from our friends at Farmers. From
a dog accidentally flooding a living room to a dog
taking a joy ride, we've covered it. Talk to farmers.
We know a thing or two because we've seen a
thing or two. We are farmers under written my Farmers
truck fire insurance exchanges and affiliates products unavailable in every state.
And the Gotlip Show does return with Jason Smith and
(01:49:47):
Michael Harriman. Gentleman floors yours. Spanky d J will talk
to you a few minutes for the press. But in
addition to what's going on today with Anthony Davis and
the Lakers and Pelicans trade rumors, the Lakers are gonna
hold back until they hear more get actually get an
offer from the Pelicans. The Patriots had their Super Bowl
parade today and maybe because Patriots fans are bored because
(01:50:09):
they just keep winning championships, a huge brawl erupted involving
numerous Patriots fans. Video of it is going viral, and
it was a pretty intense brawl and at least three
guys knocked out and they were all wearing Gronkowski jersey.
Was interesting, he's gonna retire. No, he's not gonna retire.
I think that's what they were fighting about. I don't know.
(01:50:30):
I think Tommy and the best. I think Tommy in
two thousand twelve, let's fight. We gotta go for seven.
Who was the best running back? We had to take
the pressure off of Tommy. I say Sony Mitchelle, I'd
say Corey Dillon. We're gonna fight about that. Adelman Welcer
took a bumper of a car in the head and
he was knocked out cold. But at the end of
(01:50:52):
the video you had a guy trying to put on
a hoodie and try to scurry away, like no, no, no,
we saw what you did. I mean, if everybody saw
you knocked that guy out, he take Gronkowski or the
guy in the Gronkowski jersey, because Gronk on the bus
wasn't wearing one. After a while, I took that guy
to the curve. I mean, there there was a lot
of blood, a lot of mayhem, and like, you vanquished
the NFL, and you do so each and every year.
(01:51:14):
I guess what's left light amongst yourselves. Meanwhile, Tom Brady
was all smiles at the parade, holding his daughter up,
everybody waving. You know, the best picture out of the
Super Bowl was the post game with him and his daughter.
I'd love to give credit to the guy that put
it out there, because I went through my head as
I saw the picture, and then later in my timeline
(01:51:36):
it showed up that her face reflecting off of the
Lombardi looked like the prison from Superman two. Yeah, well,
you just spoiled Superman two for everybody. The Brady's daughters
in the Phantom zone. I thought it was just Tarrence
stamp her guy and the woman here. I thought you
were just gonna yell nerd alert. You know, you're a
(01:51:58):
real pain in the neck. So Brady was very happy,
but a little uncomfortable on Good Morning America earlier today,
as Michael Strahan and company wanted to leap and put
upon him the plodits of being the greatest of all time.
A lot of people, myself included, call you the goat
greatest of all time. I don't like that. I don't
(01:52:20):
even like. It makes me cringe. Really, it makes me cringe.
I guess I take compliments worse than I take I
wish you would say you're trash or two or you're
too slow, you can't get it done no more, and
I would say, thank you very much. Driven by criticism
more than you're driven by success. Yeah, absolutely, all right.
I'm gonna borrow from Doug Gottlieb here for a second.
He does one of the best, one of the best
promos we've ever run on this network is him saying,
(01:52:42):
I work with five guys that are complete frauds and phonies. Right,
I work with five guys complete phonies, And who are
those guys? Right? Awesome, awesome, awesome. There's guys I work
with and that I know in the business. I could,
I could just take him off the top of my
and you would agree with me. That practice false modesty.
And I can't stand that. I can't stand people trying
(01:53:05):
to give you an image of something that they're not.
And there's so many people I work with, people I know,
big people in the business I know false modesty. You
are not that person. That's Tom Brady. Tom Brady, Oh,
you called me the goat. No, I kinda oh, I
kind of cringe a little bit. This is the guy
who walked into the locker room saying, I'm the baddest
blank or blanker on the planet. This is the guy
that's got six rings, has no problem pumping himself up
(01:53:27):
and saying we're the best, We're the best. You cant
of we're the best. But oh the goat, Oh you know, yeah,
I cringe. All you have to do is say, hey,
that's very flattering. It's wonderful you say that about me.
Is a lot of great quarterbacks out there. But no, oh,
I cringe because Tom Brady wants you to love him.
He can't not like about being liked. Can't stand it,
can't stand it because now everything is turned against the Patriots.
(01:53:49):
The last two years, we have gone from boy, how
much the Patriots love, We love the Patriots, the mystique
and they keep winning, to now we're kind of sick
of them and there's some Patriots fatigue. We're not sure
what they've done to win these titles. And Tom Brady
is the face of this and to watch him go
from being so love to being people who hate him
because of these reasons. That's just a natural thing, all right,
(01:54:12):
That's a natural phenomenon in the world. But no, they
can't stand it. That's why the Patriots tried to play
the Hey, we're the underdogs. No, no, you had a
home game in the playoffs and a buy and you
were favored in the super Bowl. How are you the underdog?
That's why they want to play this card. They can't
stand being hated, right, So Brady practices this false modesty
when this is not who he is. You know, It's
(01:54:32):
why I love a guy like Cam Newton because whatever
you think about him, Christ, he's real. Aaron Rodgers weird
as hell, but he doesn't pretend to be anything that's
not being weird as hell. He's a weird dude, but
this is who he is. We get the real players
here and I love that. But Brady, I feel like
I'm just getting him trying to say I gotta keep
this image because you know, when I'm done playing football,
(01:54:52):
which could be in a year. Uh, you know, the
TV twelve stuff, I want to keep selling it. I
want people to buy my diet and keep eating Keen
Jan Kale because I'm gonna tell him, like Jose can say, go,
I can make you live to a ten if you
wear the right pajamas and eat Kale every day. I
gotta keep this going on. Just be who you are.
He's cocky, he's arrogant, be that way. Just be that guy.
Don't fall in love with all. But I want people
(01:55:13):
to like me. So I'm gonna practice false modesty. That's it.
Like I mean, so many people I know I could
just bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang,
But that's who Tom Brady is too. Yeah, but it's
it's I'm looking it to this right as as a
guy who's five footing nothing and built like a fire plug.
It's one thing to look in the mirror and tell yourself,
you know what, you need to lose some weight, you're fat.
(01:55:33):
It's another thing to have someone else go you know
what a fatty uh? You know, stay away from We
put some donuts out, probably not advisable for you to partake.
Step away. You have the keen one Kale over there,
there is an extra helping his spinach for you, no salt,
and so you have that kind of mentality here to
(01:55:54):
where maybe on some degree he can walk around. I'm
the baddest blankety blank on the planet. But then when
you hear it, it's got like just just leave it.
I don't want it that and he's also thinking about acting, right,
all these guys want to have a second career. Did
the thing with Colbert where it's like, I'm gonna go
play baseball ha ha, get his goat in with with
(01:56:15):
Michael Jordan's, but also the hey, I'm gonna go do
some Shakespeare. So he starts reciting some Hamlet. I knew him,
you know, the whole thing, and he goes deep into
the soliloquy. They go and answer other questions than they
back to Rosen Crans and I think they die in this.
Oh spoiler, that was a pretty good play. The Rosencrantz
and Guilden start our day. That's a Spoiler's just spoiled Hamlet.
(01:56:38):
It's it's a whole other spoiler. I got to assume
I've got some are and educated people listening to this show.
It's like saying Crew to te alright, very nice, right,
But for for Tom Brady again whatever, whatever the chip
is on that shoulder, that's gonna keep you guys inning,
(01:57:01):
just just run with it. I know Sam Donald and
you Jets lovers want him to go away into the
good night. Not happening yet false modesty, Oh I cringe
that yeah, yeah, cringe being called the greatest time. Now
he's gonna sign will he signed? Goat if I send
a gun into that autograph signing he's doing. A guy
who sent an email all Peyton Manning. I'm gonna dust him.
He's got maybe one or two years of I got
all kinds time. I'm gonna dust him. Yeah, this is
(01:57:22):
this is a guy. He's just false modest. But if
I add the two seventy nine for the inscription you
think you put go, I'll sure you. I and for
money people who do anything, I'll sign anything you want
to get. I'll all write whatever you want. You just
went ted DV. Everybody's got whatever you want. I'll sign it.
But it's I don't care, I'll write it. I'll write it.
Twitter right, how about a Fresco Mike and Swollen Doume,
(01:57:45):
Jason Smith, Mike Harmon in for Doug Gottlieb coming up
next in the press, there are some crazy football odds
coming out of Vegas. Wait till you hear him. This
is Fox Sports Radio. From a hot air balloon landing
on a car to a load of concrete falling on one,
(01:58:07):
We've covered it. Talk to farmers. We know a thing
or two. Because we've seen a thing or two. We
are farmers under written my Farmer's Truck, fire insurance exchanges
and affiliates products unavailable in every state. Jason Smith and
Mike Harmon from The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmen,
(01:58:29):
heard nights here on Fox Sports Radio in for Doug Gottlieb. Today,
car shopping could be confusing with terms like dealer, price, list, price,
and invoice. True Car shows you what other people paid
for the car you want, so you can recognize a
good price. Are you ready to buy a new or
used car? Visit True Car to enjoy a more confident

(01:58:51):
day we welcome to David Gascon for the press. The
press you're signing already, haven't done a story yet, man.
I think the biggest news of the day was when
Justin Frostburg informed that Mr Harmon does not like to
be called Michael. There's like ninety seven promos to that effect.
(01:59:15):
People have been threatened and taken out, beaten, flying shoulder
tackles co Saldi Alon. I know we're getting ready for
the combine. The NFL draft. But how much are you
guys gonna pay attention to the Alliance of American Football.
(01:59:37):
I went up the new play by play men's son
of them. No, I'm not really touchdown whoever, I think
I know who one or two of them are. Oh yeah, no, no,
I know, I can know. I think that Matt money
Smith is doing it and Silana is doing it. They
got a lot. No, they got a lot of When
I went down to the Holiday Bowl, Fleet is not
doing is not doing them crying about you know, stop
(02:00:00):
telling us you sound like led Zeppelin. Stop sounding like
led Zeppelin. There you go. What do we got from
the well? Some odds have been posted now futures and
also current ones. The your errors in the hot Shots?
Are your favorites to win the first? Why are the favorite?
Why the fair? Who? Do they have? Nobody that I
can name right now? Actually the Arizona Hots is because
(02:00:23):
of the name hot Shots. Yeah. Well, their their quarterback
is Oklahoma Sooner and Texas A and m Aggie Trevor Knight. Okay,
he's their starting quarter Mark Mark Sanchez is not the
starting quarterback. No, he is not. Likely favorite would have
been the San Diego Fleet, but Josh Johnson was obviously
he's got another job. Yeah, he's got another job in
(02:00:44):
d C. And the Redskins want to bring him back.
They also posted some first lines in that one too,
So the Atlanta Legends at Orlando apollos apollos or minus
five and a half to open things up billion dollars.
I don't know, are you guys, would you guys wager
any money on these games? Or is this like is
this like gambling on the Pro Bowl or the NBA
All Star Games? You say that like it's wrong? What yes?
(02:01:06):
And if there's activity, there's a market to be made,
there's money to be made. Fantasy with this I did,
look should do? I did? Listen? I did Fantasy XFL
and I won. You know why I won? Because my
team was Tommy Maddox, right, it was my quarterback and
he was awesome. Jose Cortes was my kicker. I had
(02:01:31):
Who's defen? I had the l A defense, right, and
a couple other players who were really all you know,
give me a second, Like at the XFL, I remember
the players on my team. I just like suddenly adding no, no, no,
I won. I won. I'm trying to remember my guys.
Uh No, I didn't have he hate me. My brother
tried to sell shirts outside. I had John Avery, who
(02:01:55):
led the league in rushing Chicago. I had him, and
I had a really good wide receiver. To um who
did I have? No? I had? I know, I had
step for Williams had the leading Russia, the leading Russia,
the leading quarterback and the leading receiver. And he the
greatest GM and XFL. Is that worse than maybe gambling
(02:02:15):
on the Royal rumble? No? No, no, you can gamble
on this. It's awesome. There's still players. You're right, Look,
I think what what Garret Gilbert's the starting quarterback for
the Orlando Apollos, right, I mean you remember him. He
was gonna be a star. Money if you can make
a market, get in there, make your cash. How many
hundreds of thousand dollars were bet on the national anthem?
(02:02:36):
On the coin flip? Let's go Jesus. Anyways, we go
from that to the National Football League. What do you
guys make of this? Todd Gurley did not address the
media today and his final rounds of availability. There is
a disconnect with Todd Gurley and Sean McVeigh that the
Rams have to fix in the offseason. The fact they
didn't use him, and they didn't use him in the
(02:02:57):
Super Bowl as much as they should have is a
huge mistake. And I'll tell you Sean McVeigh is gonna
finish his coaching career whenever it's done, thirty forty years
from now, whatever it is, and you're gonna say, hey,
what's your biggest coaching regret? And he's gonna say, I
should have given the ball to Todd Gurley Moore in
Super Bowl fifty three, because that was their chance to
take the pressure off Jared Goff, who stunk out loud
(02:03:18):
and he was starting to run the ball. Well, he's
the best running back in the NFL. You gotta feed
his confidence and keep giving the football. They started getting
him the football, he started to break things a little bit,
but not nearly enough, and they wound up losing the game.
That's gonna be his biggest regret. The other is that
scan Crokey paid out an awful lot of money and
guaranteeson if I'm remembering correctly for him to be the
(02:03:40):
Bell Cow and if there's a he lost confidence or
some narrative going on there and there's no injury as
everybody's reported, this is a much bigger deal. Sitting at
twenty seven and twenty six, good for tenth in the
Western Conference load management. Lebron James will be back in
action tonight against the Indiana pers and he may be
(02:04:01):
the only one because the rest of the team could
be traded. May may just be Lebron playing one on five. Look,
the Lakers will win tonight. I know things are really
crazy right now with all of these teams. Things will
get better for them on Thursday when the deadline passes
and either the players stay or the players go and
make the move. But they'll win tonight. Lebron being back,
trust me, is the biggest and best medicine the Lakers
(02:04:23):
could have outside of Lebron is back. We're fine, We're good.
We'll do it. We don't care what. Lakers minus two
and a half or minus three, depending where you're looking.
At two seventeen and a half, you're over under. I'll
take the over and let's let's finish the last few
seconds here as you and I and David Gascon remember
the top ten passing leaders from the season of the XFL.
(02:04:46):
Tommy Maddox was number one, Mike Pouloski was number two.
Cal Bert Right, Jim druck In, Miller, d Casey, Weldon,
Kevin McDougall, humor is Siah Sin't, Jeff Bram, Wally Richardson,
Penn State, and Tim Lester. Congratulations everybody. This is Foxpores
