That's what we're here for. Uh So, last night, boys,
and you may ask yourself, Doug, you weren't here yesterday. No,

I was not. We were en route to Buffalo from
Green Bay. So we land. We have practice. We get
some wing nuts which were recommended by Dan Byer and
they were fantastic, fantastic. We have more of a wing
discussion for you on the pod. You can get the

you download podcasts. So we had some wing nuts and
watch some film. Go up to the room opened up
the laptops, start the reading watching. There's a there's a
company called Synergy where you can watch all the different
clips of the teams that you're playing, are gonna play against,
and flip on the Thursday Night football. And oh, now

here's the good part about Thursday Night football with Amazon,
Like I know the button, there's no real search for it.
It's really my thumb two or three times I can
watch on my phone. It's an app I use all
the time. I can I know how to transfer to
the hotel TV. Like all of that stuff has become
really really seamless. And we've had some decent Thursday night game.

Last night was not one of them. That was bad football,
and the Broncos did end up winning. And as I
texted the guys on our group chat, there are ten
seven games which are really exciting. You're like, ah, no, way, no, no.
There are ten seven games which are just slobberknockers, knocked
down drag bats. And then there are last night which

you could with some of the errors, the muffed Pundik
fumbles and interceptions, you could have played Benny hell music.
But what came from the Denver Broncos win. I think, Jason,
you said it best. So the NFL today can celebrate

that their team with the best record just played in
a standalone game and probably played the ugliest football game
of the year, or at least the ugliest one that
we actually watched. Right, Because there are ugly Sunday ones,
but especially the one o'clock ones East Coast time, they
kind of get acted and I'm watching on red zone.

It might be an ugly game, it doesn't look as
ugly that way. That one was ugly. The victorious quarterback
was playing at home in I think we can all agree.
Of all the throwback uniforms, the Broncos rendition of their
orange crush uniforms, it is one in which you're always

gonna look at, look at and go like, wait, why
don't they wear those? Is the regular uniforms. They're amazing.
Their play was not amazing. Their quarterbacks play was not amazing.
Bo Nickson, his second year as a starter, led his
team to the playoffs. Last year. They had the best
record in football this year. Here's Bonnicks on being booed
at home.

But you think about some of their reaction to booze
and that kind of thing.

Well, I've been booed before, and I'll be booed again,
so not gonna be the last time. It's obviously unfortunate.
You don't want your your own fans booming you, but
you know it's part of it.

Okay, he did say they need to score or more.
That's captain obvious statement. Here's here's Bonis gotta do better.

At some point ten points ain't gonna be enough. We
gotta score more. We just have a tougher, resilient football team.
We five ways to win. Usually right now, it's the
defense leaning the charge. They just continue against the ball back.
A bunch of sacks tonight, you know, a few that
were in field goal range that knocked them out. And
he'll win a lot of games with the defense playing
like that. And then tonight we had a little spark

with some special teams plays and then you know we
just at some point we got to start moving football
and scoring points.

as you've said, your record says who you are exactly right?

a coach. We're never satisfied. If my answer were to you,
I'm comfortable, it'd be silly. Right. So obviously we got
to clean up the penalties. We got to clean up
some of the execution, and that is an ongoing thing
that probably never ends. There's you know, you search for

that shangri la right now. You know, we're team sitting
at eight wins. I think we're the only team sitting there,
and yet we're constantly looking internally. It was a tough
night offensively, obviously, and I give them credit. They did
some things differently that we hadn't seen. And you know,
you start looking at your call sheet with your subplan,
and we'll look at that tape and we'll warn from it.

We always will. Still, I got leap show here on
Fox Sports Radio. Okay, So I heard earlier today Hall
of famer Colin Calhern say that, hey, Broncos need to
look at maybe drafting the quarterback because Bo Nix is regressing.
I don't think that's what came out of the game
for me. That you have a year and a half

invested into bow Knicks, and remember Bo Nicks is the
same quarterback who was crummy at Auburn, even though he
started as a freshman a place his dad started was
a star and a legend to Oregon. And in his
fifth year, when he got that fifth year, he was
he was great. He was incredible. Okay, they had probably

the best offensive line in college football, but he was great.
So he's the same guy he was at Auburn and
the same guy he was at Oregon, and the and
and a slightly evolved version because you're slightly older with
more years. That's that's the reality to it. My point is,
I don't believe Dak that bo Nicks is a great quarterback,

but I'm not sure it totally matters because you can
clean stuff up. They're still able to win with him,
Well they win a Super with him? Probably not. But look,
the story of this is not about the Broncos needing
to find another quarterback in the upcoming draft. The story
of this is pocket this Broncos fans, Broncos media, Broncos

front office. And remember that when we started to have
discussions about extending Bo Nicks, you don't take the bait.
What's led to Mike McDaniel potentially being fired as GM
being fired Chris career. What's led to Cleveland being a

complete joke, right, and even Houston's downfall before that. What's
led to the Giants likely having letting Saquon Barkley go
was the fact that you did contract extensions to a
guy who could not live up to the new contract. Right,

Like Mike McDaniel. The culture of the Dolphins is bad.
They took on some guys that are just not good
team guys, and when things go bad, that gets exposed.
Chris Kers with the team for twenty five years. He
lost his job earlier this week for one reason, and
one reason only to a tongue of blow. They took the

wrong quarterback, and okay, so they took him. He played,
he was good, he was fine, he was heard, he
wasn't hurt. What you can't do is you can't double
down and now pay real money that you can't get
out of because you're true. You can survive picking a
guy who's not as good as you would have hoped
in the first round, but still very useful. You can't

survive when he's within the top five or even top
ten of quarterbacks in the NFL, because once you pay
that guy that money, he has to be something that
he is not, and that is what the Broncos have
to be cost usself. As long as boat Nicks is
on a rookie contract, I'm good. Even the fiftieer option
still good. New contract, I'm not good. I'm out. Go ahead,

i sat next to one of my assistant, coaches AND
i was, like is that the tallest bus driver? Yet
and then we started talking about how much nil money

he sits, in he's, Like, gottlieb, right, yeah listen to

LIKE i, agree there's got to be a small number
with these coach bus. Drivers but that seems. Crazy, Okay, uh,

game because it was a, debacle, right it was a debacle,
INSTEAD i want to talk About luke fickle. Situation. Now in,
fairness we're in the Same University wisconsin, system but with
all of the coaching firings in THE sec and and

the struggles That Luke fickle has had In, madison there
were obviously calls for his. Ouster yesterday it was announced
That Luke fickle is going to return for next, year
which seems very un college football. LIKE i like it
for three. Reasons the first reason is just doing what

everybody's doing because everybody's doing. It kind of The lemming
effect is so. Lame don't get me. Wrong not every
coach deserves to keep their. Job not every coach deserves
to get another. YEAR i understand, It, Okay my situation
is different than a different coach in which you inherited
how much money you, have, academics all that other. Stuff

and at the highest level of college, football you, know
with the exception of a debacle off the, field the
type of the type of off the field issues that
can can lead to get. Fired for the most, part
it's really about winning and, losing and they haven't won.

Now they've also, had you, know every quarterback they bring
in seems to get, hurt and so it's really hard
to tell if the offense is any, better especially when
they want to throw the. Football if the quarterback that
in this case they paid a lot of money, too
doesn't actually play quarterback because he's. Hurt but the first
REASON i like it is because it just forget The lemming.
Effect we've got to do what's best for. Us second

part about IT i like is it gives them another
year where they sit there and, go you, Know i'm

give me a year with the legit money and stand
behind me That i'm not going to get fired and

Was wisconsin had separated themselves for a long time on
a high retention. Rate they would recruit a lot of
in state, kids walk ons develop, them and Obviously lupfiko

has not done a good enough job of. It but
part of it is with the changing landscape of the transfer,
portal it's harder to do. That it's hard to, say,
hey we're gonna bring guys in and in year, four year,
five you're gonna be. Awesome kids don't want to wait
for year four year. Five you actually recruit kids from
your area and they go elsewhere and you, go, hey
that's a great call by. You. Listen if it doesn't work,

out call me come back. Home. Right, so, LOOK i
get that we're like just fire coaches fire. Coaches the point,
is did you Think Luke fickle was good enough when
he was At Ohio? State maybe not For Ohio. State
did you think he was good enough when he Said?
Cincinnati and this is my point for somebody's. Coaches if
you've achieved where you've shown you can do it on

any level a consistent, basis then you get to a
place in suddenly you can't do it at. All could
it be The peter Principal peter principles when you're advanced
past your level of competency, Maybe or it could be
the fact that you were caught up in this massive
change in the game in the sport and you got
your plan catch, up which is more, likely and that's

a hard, decision but just firing because everybody's firing their.
Guy and, somehow Like wisconsin understands if you Fire Luke,
fickle you owe him twenty million. Dollars they need that
twenty million. Dollars so, instead, again we're not gonna waste
twenty million dollars on firing. Coach then we got to
spend twenty million dollars to get a whole new, coach
the whole new. Staff one if we put ten of

it into our budget along with what we got and
give him a year to see if he can load
up and go win and if, not then we walk
away with less of a. Buyout it doesn't because if
you fire him and you pay him twenty million, dollars
you're not only not good this, year you're not gonna
be good next. Year and it's very hard to see
that you'll be super competitive in two. Years it's that
hard to rebuild things when you lose guys and lose

money because you lose your whole team when you fire your.
Coach by would you have Fire Luke?

Fickle, no because of the reasons that you're, Saying AND
i think that a majority of the fan, base and
maybe it's the vocal, Majority, doug we're flabbergasted by the
decision beyond themselves over the last twenty four. Hours and
it's funny BECAUSE i also think it's a fan base

that wanted to take things to the next, level And
wisconsin's been in an interesting spot over the last twenty five.
Years Barry alvarez even admitted, that you, know they went
to The Rose bowl in the mid, nineties then they.
Won they won that AGAINST, ucla went back to Back
Rose bowls nineteen ninety, nine two. Thousand time they're saying
we're going to go and Recruit, california And barry admitted

it was a mistake that they thought, that, hey we're
In pasadena every, year we can branch out and recruit that.
Way and it didn't work for. Them there was a.
Dip they didn't hit on, those so they went back
to what they did, well And wisconsin Was. Wisconsin and

changed so Now wisconsin needs to alter. That wisconsin was
never set to recruit nationally twenty five years, ago so
you got to do what you do. Best and if
you brought another guy in and you're Paying Luke, fickle
you're paying that coach when you're already strapped for nil,

struggling it only makes sense to bring him.

you need to.

and they haven't put it in the. State they haven't

LOOK i also think that if you get the money
and you have somebody come in who hasn't established a
culture or a way of playing or, whatever and you're

and reached for the best. Guys that, again you have
to have an. Identity here's how we want to play,
well here's the type of player who succeeds, here even

but the point is THAT i try to recruit guys
THAT i thought Fit Green bay AND i thought fit

what we're trying to, build AND i think eventually we'll get.

wisconsin was isn't built or hasn't traditionally been built to
be a portal. Program, Right and here's why THE sec
they do have more, money but they, also if we're,
honest THE sec was there was some nil or some

rev share before it became. Legal, Right so those those
revenue streams or those donors that you go to the
people who want to help the. Program and, look not
all of them who give now were were buying players
in the dirty. Side previously they buy a. Scoreboard previously
they buy a building on. Campus now you're, like, hey
want to buy a football. Team but those schools that

it hasn't changed that, much hasn't changed that. Much, wisconsin
it has. Changed it's also again And, dan you went,
there so it's also fairly liberal. School wisconsin is a conservative.
State it's a liberal. School and the one thing that
liberal schools struggle with is having, donors people who make

money who are, like, YEAH i want to pay a football.
PLAYER i want to pay a high school kid to
come be a football. Player go and, look tell me
the school that has a fairly liberal base of a
lums that's competing in college. FOOTBALL i would love to see.
It tell me who that. Is that's WHY i got,

friends that's Why texas is probably the, one, right and
that's why most people in football THINK a And M'S
a AND m is a better job Than. Texas even
though it used to always be. Harder it still is
harder to get kids to go TO a AND m
as Vos texas because it's a, cult, Right whereas Whereas

kind of, amazing but they have to actually overpay BECAUSE

Jim leonard took over on an interim, Basis and SO

hendrickson is trying to do as much as he, can
some of the guys they have on the defensive, front

still seemed some time to try to get to the

lacking pass, rush not only just you, know, depth but
actually interior pass rush and push and that's killing this
team defensively in my, opinion and that's keeping them on the.

fingers right. Now it's been. Frustrating they have signs of,
life BUT i think now at the time we're not
a player's only, meeting But Zach taylor will take care
of it and get and get him. Together, say let's
stop pointing fingers at each, other point them at, yourself
and make sure we're doing what we're supposed to be doing.

Last night was not one of them. That was bad football,
and the Broncos did end up winning. And as I
texted the guys on our group chat, there are ten
seven games which are really exciting. You're like, ah, no, way, no, no.
There are ten seven games which are just slobberknockers, knocked
down drag bats. And then there are last night which

you could with some of the errors, the muffed Pundik
fumbles and interceptions, you could have played Benny hell music.
But what came from the Denver Broncos win. I think, Jason,
you said it best. So the NFL today can celebrate

that their team with the best record just played in
a standalone game and probably played the ugliest football game
of the year, or at least the ugliest one that
we actually watched. Right, Because there are ugly Sunday ones,
but especially the one o'clock ones East Coast time, they
kind of get acted and I'm watching on red zone.

It might be an ugly game, it doesn't look as
ugly that way. That one was ugly. The victorious quarterback
was playing at home in I think we can all agree.
Of all the throwback uniforms, the Broncos rendition of their
orange crush uniforms, it is one in which you're always

gonna look at, look at and go like, wait, why
don't they wear those? Is the regular uniforms. They're amazing.
Their play was not amazing. Their quarterbacks play was not amazing.
Bo Nickson, his second year as a starter, led his
team to the playoffs. Last year. They had the best
record in football this year. Here's Bonnicks on being booed

But you think about some of their reaction to booze
and that kind of thing.

night offensively, obviously, and I give them credit. They did

and we'll look at that tape and we'll warn from it.

of famer Colin Calhern say that, hey, Broncos need to
look at maybe drafting the quarterback because Bo Nix is regressing.
I don't think that's what came out of the game
for me. That you have a year and a half

invested into bow Knicks, and remember Bo Nicks is the
same quarterback who was crummy at Auburn, even though he
started as a freshman a place his dad started was
a star and a legend to Oregon. And in his
fifth year, when he got that fifth year, he was
he was great. He was incredible. Okay, they had probably

the best offensive line in college football, but he was great.
So he's the same guy he was at Auburn and
the same guy he was at Oregon, and the and
and a slightly evolved version because you're slightly older with
more years. That's that's the reality to it. My point is,
I don't believe Dak that bo Nicks is a great quarterback,

but I'm not sure it totally matters because you can
clean stuff up. They're still able to win with him,
Well they win a Super with him? Probably not. But look,
the story of this is not about the Broncos needing
to find another quarterback in the upcoming draft. The story
of this is pocket this Broncos fans, Broncos media, Broncos

front office. And remember that when we started to have
discussions about extending Bo Nicks, you don't take the bait.
What's led to Mike McDaniel potentially being fired as GM
being fired Chris career. What's led to Cleveland being a

complete joke, right, and even Houston's downfall before that. What's
led to the Giants likely having letting Saquon Barkley go
was the fact that you did contract extensions to a
guy who could not live up to the new contract. Right,

Like Mike McDaniel. The culture of the Dolphins is bad.
They took on some guys that are just not good
team guys, and when things go bad, that gets exposed.
Chris Kers with the team for twenty five years. He
lost his job earlier this week for one reason, and
one reason only to a tongue of blow. They took the

wrong quarterback, and okay, so they took him. He played,
he was good, he was fine, he was heard, he
wasn't hurt. What you can't do is you can't double
down and now pay real money that you can't get
out of because you're true. You can survive picking a
guy who's not as good as you would have hoped
in the first round, but still very useful. You can't

survive when he's within the top five or even top
ten of quarterbacks in the NFL, because once you pay
that guy that money, he has to be something that
he is not, and that is what the Broncos have
to be cost usself. As long as boat Nicks is
on a rookie contract, I'm good. Even the fiftieer option
still good. New contract, I'm not good. I'm out. Go ahead,

type of the type of off the field issues that
