Apps r Joe Must Throw, Joe Must Throw, Joe Must throw,
Joe mus Throw, Joe must throw, Joe Must throw, Joe
mus Throw. Welcome man, It's a Thursday here on Fox
Sports Radio. It is time. Do you guys see that

(00:38):
clip the late Kevin Green telling play Matthews? It is time.
Somebody needs to step up, and in Cincinnati that can
only mean one person. Welcome in. It is the Doug
Gotlin Show. No Doug right now, but Joe will get
him later on in the program as he joins us
from Saint Thomas and the US Virgin Islands. The GB

(01:00):
Phoenix are getting ready for a Thanksgiving holiday tournament. Action
starts tomorrow. Doug's going to join us later in the show.
Jason Stewart is here our executive producer, Iowa Sam is
here our technical producer, and Chris Purfett is at the
news desk For over forty years, ty Iraq has been
helping customers find the right tires for how, what and
where they drive, ship fast and free, backed by free

(01:23):
road hazard protection with convenient installation options like mobile tire
installation tierraq dot com. The way tire buying should be.
We are talking about Joe Burrow and the comeback that
is about to be. There should absolutely be no questions whatsoever.
Joe Burrow needs to play for the Cincinnati Bengals in

(01:44):
Week twelve against the New England Patriots. What's the latest
on Burrow? You heard Chris Purfett say it. Why don't
we hear it straight from Zach Taylor, the Cincinnati Bengals
head coach, who spoke with WLW earlier today in Cincinnati
to talk about his quarter back status after a full
practice on Wednesday? Is there a chance that he plays Sunday?

Speaker 3 (02:06):
I'm not there yet.

Speaker 4 (02:06):
You know, it's one day of practice. Isn't gonna lead
to that decision yet. So we'll here is the time
we have at our disposal and come with the best
decision we can.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
You can tell us right now Burrow's playing it. He's
playing it.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
Yeah, No, I wish I could I wish I had
that decision today, you know, honestly, it's I'm going to
take in all the information I can and make sure
it's the best one for Joe and our team, and
we'll go from there.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
It's the only decision for their team. This is the
reason why Joe Burrow had any hope of playing at
all this season is coming back and trying to save
the season. Now, the Bengals had hoped that Joe Flacca
would be able to come in and save the day
to some extent, win a few games and keep them
relevant in a winnable AFC North, and things haven't gone

(02:55):
according to plan for the Cincinnati Bengals in the aspect
of they've got three he re wins this season. However,
the Pittsburgh Steelers are still sitting there at six and four.
The Baltimore Ravens and getting Lamar Jackson back, they're back
in the thick of it, but they're only there at
five and five. But there is no way that the

(03:15):
Cincinnati Bengals can make a run to the playoffs without
Joe Burrow. And they cannot make a run to the
playoffs if they don't beat New England on Sunday, New
England comes in best record in the NFS or AFC,
excuse me, tied with the Denver Broncos at nine and two,
and now Cincinnati has to play without Jamar Chase. So

(03:37):
you're gonna tell me that with the season on the line,
you're gonna put Joe Flacco and T Higgins out on
the field to try to save your season. That is
not an option. The funny thing about Burrow is the
conversation centers around Burrow's health and what Joe Burrow means

(03:58):
to the Cincinnati Bengals and Joejoe Burrow throughout his career
has been an injury prone quarterback. If we were to
look at Joe Burrow and take a look at what
happened as rookie year injury, what has happened this year injury,
what happened two years ago injury? Joe Burrow has been
prone to injury in Cincinnati. When you're playing behind an
offensive line that has had problems throughout the years, you

(04:20):
are injury prone. I understand the risks that could be
there for Joe Burrow playing Sunday against the New England Patriots,
but the risks aren't any different in week twelve than
they would be in week thirteen, or they would be
in week fourteen, or they would be in week fifteen,
And those are the weeks that you were hoping to
have Joe Burrow at your disposal. Unfortunately, you're sitting there

(04:42):
at three and seven right now, and you didn't win
as many games as you would have hoped. You didn't
beat the New York Jets in a game that you
should have beaten. You didn't beat the Chicago Bears in
a game that you should have won. You're sitting there
at three and seven, and as I look at the
NFL playoff picture, the playoff possibility for the Cincinnati Bengals,
if they lose this game, while not eliminated entirely from

(05:04):
the playoffs, it gets to a less than one percent.
You're saying, Dan, what is what is the percentage if
Joe Burrow does the unthinkable and goes and leads them
to victory Sunday in Cincinnati against the team in the
AFC that's tied for the best record, what happens to
their playoff chances? Well, let me tell you what happens.

(05:26):
They go up to one percent, So it's it's still
a long shot, but it is the reason why Joe
Burrow has been on this accelerated program to return this season.
And if he's not gonna play in Week twelve, you
might as will sit him for the rest of the
season because there'd be no reason to play him for
the rest of the season. And it sounds ridiculous to

(05:47):
sign a quarterback to a contract who's making fifty five
million plus dollars a season and say, you know what,
it's better off if we don't play off for six
or seven games because we're worried about your health. That
sounds completely asinine. It sounds ridiculous. And before you come
to me with the Jayden Daniels example, Jayden Daniels was

(06:10):
injured while playing in a game that he should have
been taken out of. Jadon Daniels would have started the
next week for the Washington Commanders. That's the difference this
season for the Cincinnati Bengals rides this weekend, and when
you couldn't count on one of your star receivers to
keep the saliva in his mouth and not spit on
another player last week, you're even asking more of your

(06:31):
starting quarterback. Joe Burrow is so needed by Cincinnati. I
understand Zach Taylor probably wants to play co but there
is no doubt, no doubt in my mind that Joe
Burrow is starting Sunday like he has to for the
Cincinnati Bengals. Chris Purfett.

Speaker 5 (06:48):
So I agree with you and all this because I
don't know what you're saving for him at this point.
The Bengals have a larger issue with the defense too.
But I know there's probably an argument about, like, hey,
let's just you know, Joe Flacco has been fine, let's
roum out there, Joe flat when twenty three of forty
last game, there's only so much in Joe Flacco's tank
for a given year that, like, I don't think you
really have a choice. If you want to make the playoffs,

(07:09):
you have to start Joe Burrow. I don't see, because
we see this out of Joe Flacco. He gives you
like three good games a season, but then he's on
a downhill trajectory after that.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
Sure, and I wouldn't blame Joe Burrow or excuse me,
Joe Flacco for some of those losses. Those losses come
at the hands of the defense. Yeah, and you may
say to yourself, well, if Joe Flacco's still throwing the
football to your point, Chris, maybe he's gonna have one
of those fifty to fifty games where he's really good
and not really bad or not turning the football over.
You still don't have a defense that stops anything, So

(07:38):
that would say, well, well, just play Flacco. Then it
also comes down to the fact of being the leader
of this team and the leader of this franchise, and
if he's able to practice fully this week, you have
to be there for your team. And you also are
getting paid to play quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals. And
I think that Joe Burrow absolutely wants to play. I

(07:58):
think that he wants to play in this game, would
want to play in every game. It's not about whether
Joe Burrow wants to play or not play. It's about
whether the Cincinnati Bengals are gonna make the right decision.
And I think some would argue that why not play
Joe Flacco even if it is fifty to fifty their
defense stinks. You're gonna need to score forty points in
a game to win. What's the point of putting Burrow

(08:19):
out there. Joe Burrow is paid to win football games,
and he's paid to play football games, and if he's
able to play right now with seven games left in
the season, you have to play him. And the whole
reason in going back to Week two when he suffers
the toe injury in playing that game was maybe if

(08:39):
they could just get to mid December, they could just
get to mid December, and who knows, that's an areo
still sticks and it's mid November. I don't know if
you thought you were going to be a game back
of the Pittsburgh Steelers or a game back of the
Baltimore Ravens at that time. But it doesn't change the
point on why Joe Burrow needed to come back this season.
There's not there's not a great chance of the Cincinnati

(09:02):
Bengals can make the postseason. But by not playing him
this year or this week, you're saying that we don't
care about the postseason this year, even as slim as
the chances are of making it the postseason. You have
to play him this week because if you don't, you're
basically saying we are punting on the rest of this year.

Speaker 6 (09:21):
Jason Stewart, don't you also have to take into account
the ownership and the history of being cheap, like Mike
Brown to meet I'll give this analogy. Go to Vegas
with a group of buddies. There's the poor buddy who
is going to get all they can eat at the buffet.
In other words, if I'm gonna pay fifty bucks for rufe,

(09:43):
I'm going to eat fifty dollars plus work. And then
there's like a buddy that makes some money and he
can spend fifty bucks and he just eats what he
wants to eat. That to me, the Mike Brown is
the poor buddy in this. I think if you're gonna
pay Burrow that much, you're gonna get everything out of him.
And by the way, Chris could look this up. As

(10:03):
of right now, there still is no even act of
apology from Jamar Chase. Right as of right now.

Speaker 2 (10:10):
I've not heard any No. I heard the denial after
the game that there was a spinning in it.

Speaker 5 (10:16):
Yeah, yes, No, he's currently in like appeal of that too,
so he's probably not going to offer an apology.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
Well the appeal was denied, he yes, yeah, yeah, so
he's yeah, there's been no there's been no apology for
the situation. This tells you a bit of the the
leadership conundrum that is there. I mean, Joe Flacco has
been there two months and what he's supposed to take
over the role as leader, And there's no way you're
going to go into a game against New England and

(10:42):
beat them with Joe Flacco and t Higgins, which is
why you would need Joe Burrow. And even again if
they win, the naysayers would say there's still just a
one percent chance. But if that's the plan, like you
come back, you're also the franchise quarterback. If you don't
want to play him in Week eighteen, that's fine. They're
out of the playoffs at that point, it's gone, but
there's still an opportunity to possibly make the postseason. And

(11:06):
if you can somehow upset the New England Patriots and
get a win and be four and seven, still out
of it, but with Aaron Rodgers having his wrist issue
not knowing his status against the Chicago Bears, the Steelers
again aren't running away with this division. The Ravens, for
as good as they've been and getting back into the hunt,

(11:26):
I don't think that we think that they're the same Ravens.
And if you could get Joe Burrow to play this
Sunday and then play on the short week on Thanksgiving Night,
and all of a sudden win those two games. Imagine
what fortunes could change for the Cincinnati Bengals in a
span of nine days. You win on Sunday and then

(11:47):
you win next Thanksgiving Night, and now you're five and
seven with a win over a division opponent and the
best team in the AFC because Joe Burrow is back.
This is the point in the season, as Kevin Green said,
it's time. It is time, and it's time for Joe
Burrow to take the field. Chris, you had one more point.

Speaker 5 (12:05):
Yeah, I was just looking up Aaron Rodgers snamp. I
know he was at practice, but only kind of individual drills.
And to your point too, about like I just don't
know what's lost by trying to play him. Right now,
you mention that short Thanksgiving game that's a Ravens game,
and like, yeah, your hope is you win that game,
and if you don't, then like you can think about
shutting him down after that stretch of games where it's

(12:26):
like Patriots Ravens Bills, where you know you don't have
a shot after that if you lose, if you lose
like two of those three and the Ravens are starting
to build steam, then fine, whatever you can throw in
the towel then, But like in the moment, while you're
alive and hot, you gotta be hot, and you gotta
throw every gun out there.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
And if Burrow loses this week when starting against New
England and doesn't necessarily respond after the game, perfect excuse,
then not to play him Thursday. But you're gonna be
out of it anyway, Like this is the start of it.
This is the point of the season that we have
all been wondering what's gonna happen with the Bengals, what's
gonna happen with Joe Burrow? And the time is now.
Zach is playing coy. I think that he knows that

(13:02):
Joe Burrow is going to start. You have to start
Joe Burrow this week. You can't worry about what happened
to Jaydon Daniels on Sunday Night Football a couple of
weeks ago. Those things happen in games, But you're not
going to keep a guy in bubble wrap for seven
weeks and you need him right now. So Joe Burrow
needs to throw for the Cincinnati Bengals. It is the
Doug Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio. Week twelves
does start tonight with the Bills and Texans. We dive

(13:24):

Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio. I'm Dan Byer. Jason
Stewart is here Iowa Sam Chris Purfetz at the news desk.
He'll have an update coming for us in just a
little bit. And on the other side of that, college
football insider from Fox Sports, host of the Number one Podcast,
Number one Show podcast, Our Jay Young joins us before
we gets all that, it's time now for our Tirak

(14:06):
play of the day. Spin move right now needs to
get to work. Jumper turn around goes to the bucket
lay up and good, oh, what a beautiful move by
Jayden Bradley and the Cats. Up by three sixteen seconds left.
Huge win for Arizona last night in a battle of
top five teams in college basketball as they take down Yukon.

(14:26):
On Wildcats Radio twelve ninety it was our Tireraq play
of the day. For over forty years, Tyrak has been
helping customers find the right tires for how, what and
where they drive, ship fast and free backs by free
road hazard protection with convenient installation options like mobile tire
installation Tierraq dot Com. The way tire buying should be.
Final score seventy one sixty seven in favor of the

(14:47):
fourth ranked Wildcats over number three Yukon. College football this
weekend no game for ole Miss, But Lane Kiffin's been
making the headlines is he gonna stay or is he
going to go? But there's another to this conversation that
maybe hasn't gained enough traction just yet. What if Lane
Kiffen does go, and by his recent comments or lack thereof,

(15:10):
you have to think that LSU and Florida is a
realistic opportunity for him to be coaching in twenty twenty six.
But if he is going to go and he denied
the ultimatum handed down by ole Miss, If Lane Kiffin
isn't on the sidelines for the Rebels, what does it
do for their stature, for their place in the college

(15:32):
Football Playoff? And in the few circles I've heard this conversation,
two names have been brought up as examples on what
should happen to Ole Miss. Jordan Travis, card Al Jones,
two completely separate scenarios, and none of them have anything

(15:53):
to do with Lane Kiffin. And I'll make it quick.
Jordan Travis was the starting quarterback of an unbeaten Florida
State team in a four team bracket in twenty twenty three.
When you break your leg and you are unavailable, that
alters the entire landscape of your football team, and you're
the starting quarterback. When Ohio State put Cardell Jones in

(16:15):
for JT. Barrett and had him play in the Big
Ten title game and destroy Wisconsin to show that the
Buckeyes wouldn't miss a beat, it allowed Ohio State to
get in to the fourteen tournament in twenty fourteen. If
Lane Kiffin isn't coaching Ole Miss, he's not the starting
quarterback of the Rebels. He is not a player on

(16:36):
that team. He is the head coach, and I feel
that that is different than a play of what actually
goes on the field. Ole Miss, by the way, because
it's a twelve team bracket, firmly in the bracket right now,
and a win against Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl
in a little more than a week shouldn't alter their standing.

(16:57):
But you cannot keep Ole Miss out of the college
football Playoff if Lane Kiffin were to leave town for
Gainesville or baton Rouge the iHeart Radio app, you can

Fox Sports Radio is one of your presets in the

top of your screen. R J Young, Fox Sports college
football analysts and host of the Number One Show podcast
joins us as he always does here on the Doug
Gottlieb Show. I am Dan Byer filling in for Doug today.

Speaker 3 (17:34):
R J.

Speaker 2 (17:34):
Great to talk to you again. How are you?

Speaker 3 (17:37):
I'm good, Dan? How are you?

Speaker 2 (17:38):
I I am great. I'm not in as advantageous of
a position as Lane Kiffin is right now, but the
apple of the eye of Florida and LSU, and there's
other stuff going on with the Ole miss that I
want to get your opinion on. But how do you
view how Lane Kiffin has handled his name being at
the top of these coaching searches within the.

Speaker 3 (17:59):
See the way that the crown French jester of college
football has for the tirety of head coaching career. Didn't
run out of Tennessee on a rail, didn't left on
the taromackt usc the rehabilitating clinic at with Nick Sabans
and Alabama where my man got fired for Colins plays,
they ain't running practice and college football playoffs semifinal games.

(18:21):
But he is still one of the great offensive mine
in all of college football. And he is wildly entertaining
to you and I. So this latest bit of noise callown, Hey,
you gotta let us know whether or not you're gonna
be the head coach at Old Bit forty forty six
by the Egg Bowl is funny for a number of reasons.
The first burson is this is the best season ever

(18:43):
They could go eleven and want to make college football playoffs.
The second one is they might not let him coach
that team, and he decided to take a job at
LSU Florida. I'm having a good time watching it, but
I gotta believe if you're an Old Miss fan, you're
pulling your hair out, and I'm gonna tell you this
is how this man has worked the whole time.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
Well, maybe you answered my next question then by saying it,
because there have been some people who have thought, okay, well,
if Lane Kiffen leaves and they're I'm not going to
have him coach, does Ole Miss deserve the spot if
he goes to LSU or Florida. Just before you came on,
I had argued that absolutely Old Miss should be in
the bracket, different time now with a bigger field as

(19:22):
opposed to other situations. I also thought it was different
between coach and player. Do you think Ole Miss's status
in the playoffs should be effected if Kiffen leaves?

Speaker 3 (19:31):
Yes, I do, But I don't think that Skeee Cartery
that interested and really pulling that. I mean, we're talking
about hitting the nuclear launch codes on this one, and
I just don't see him doing that, it'll be understood. Hey,
he's on his way out, but you want to keep
the team together because you know, if you fire him,

(19:51):
thirty guys thirty days guys in in Portal and you
got a mess going into the college football playoffs and
you want to win the national championship, right And I
think Lane Kiffin wants to win an national championship, and
I know all those players want to win the national championship,
and they will probably both to keep him there. So
I don't think that would happen, but it will be
a very interesting and cold December in Austin, Mississippi. It's

(20:14):
in fact, we find out this man has taken a
job elsewhere before he finishes the job at all.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
Miss It's crazy to think that this is the drama
that is happening. But he failed to answer the questions,
and honestly, I don't know what answer you could give.
I know Nick Saban got so much flak when he
was with the Dolphins back in the day and saying
I'm not going to Alabama and everybody says that you lied.
I think that link Kiffen deserves to at least look

(20:40):
at these other spots as well, and whether his family
is looking around Gainesville or Baton Rouge. I look at
that as due diligence. I get it could be a distraction,
but it's a part of the game. Do you have
any issue with all of that going around Kiffen at
this point?

Speaker 3 (20:56):
No, I call that the business of college Yeah, Frankly,
I really do. I think when I look at it,
Nick Saban, right, what my off that did in Oklahoma State?
You're not leaving. They left at halftime, right, That's how
Mike get he got the job. You see this stuff
happen in coaching ranks all the time. What's different now
is we have not seen this way. The coaches fired
before November one, I think, in the history of the sports.

(21:20):
So everybody's playing a musical chair and everybody's trying to
get their guy. And James Franklin signed a contract in
November to be the head coach at Virginia Tech next year,
and he got the whole threade that you usually get,
you know, after Black Monday, which comes after the season ends.
I'm not really that I should stay surprised by this,
but I understand if you're a college football fan, it

(21:41):
kind of rubs you the wrong way, but that is
I'm thinking you're just gonna have to get used to it.
I don't know if you notice in Dan, but we've
got to professionalize the sports literally this year, we're revenue sharing,
you know.

Speaker 2 (21:51):
Yeah, just a little bit our Jae Young joining us
here at Fox Foots Radio, Doug Gottlieb Show, find RJ
at RJ underscore Young d on XY. The transition is
perfect because James Franklin is probably going to be trotted
out in Blacksburg on Saturday as Virginia Tech plays their
final home game of the season as they welcome the

(22:12):
thirteenth rank to Miami Hurricanes to town. So let's get
into these rankings. Does Miami have actual beef with Notre
Dame and with the committee about their ranking at this
point of the season despite the win over the Fighting Irish.

Speaker 3 (22:24):
To start the year speak with Notre Dame? Absolutely not
like they Notre Dame didn't like themselves. The College Football
Playoffs election Committee did. And I think Hunter Yurchik got
baptized by fire when you come down here and he says,
we didn't actually look at Miami and Notre Dame in
the same pool because they are not really that close.
I'm going nine and thirteen, Homie at nine and thirteen,

(22:46):
and we little think called head to heads. We're winning
against that other team matters. Moving against that other team matters.
But this also is the notre game of it. All right,
they got the car belt, they're in high todd, They're
going to be the fifth, They're gonna get the at
large firsts as they get another home game, they don't
have to play a conference championship. Meanwhile, it is the

(23:06):
ACC best team. If only they would cost the marriage
and Miami really would. Well, everybody remembered we beat Soup.
Yes he lost the rules. We understand we beat them.
How are we not right? Nine? And they are right thirteen?
And it's also getting to another thing here. I mean
with with James Franklin coming into the conference, I think

(23:27):
you're gonna get another guy like Tody Elliott's actually carrying
a lot of water firs, the guys in the agency alongside,
you know, God between and your past, Michael Novella in
your past. But the points there is you're gonna get
one team in for the ATC right now. You're gonna
get one team in for the Big twelve right now.
You get five in the SEC and you get three
four from the Big ten. We know they're gonna get

(23:48):
the G six spot in there. That's the beat, right,
You're really giving Notre Dame the spot that should belong
to Miami instead of Miami the spot I mean bid
Davies scot that is I think you should flip them.
But that also means you get two accqings in and
that's stimically what Notreting is doing. They're stealing from the
acc or that they twelve one of these fis.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
Yeah, it's it's It drives me crazy because I feel
this committee RJA focuses on the losses. That's what they
focus on. And when you look at how the bracket,
how the rankings are broken down, how they're categorized, you
have the three unbeatens on top, then you have the
group of one loss, then you have your two loss

(24:31):
group and BYU finds themselves in there. That's my problem.
That's my problem with the rankings. And by the way,
the apeop pole isn't that much different than the college
football playoff rankings. But I don't want to see a
Miami Notre Dame game go away. And I understand that
their commitments with Notre Dame in the ACC. But you know,
I don't want to see Ohio State Texas go away

(24:53):
at the start of the season. And I feel that
the way that the committee is handling this, well, I
understand it. I feel that that is going to what
what It's going to come at our expense. If schools
are like, well, what's the benefit of playing these these
early games against powerhouses? Do you think those could be
in jeopardy depending on how this Miami Notre Dame situation
shakes out.

Speaker 3 (25:13):
I understand the fear, Dan, I really do. I don't
think that these games are injecardy because they do business,
all right, Like that's why Ohio State and Texas play
each other. It does business. We all watched it, We're
gonna watch it, and that's what the networks want, and
that's frankly what the college football programs want. I'm not
gonna watch text to beat up on utub I'm not
gonna watch text to beat up on Texas A and

(25:35):
mting Still, I don't care. You don't care. We want
to see that game and we will pay top dollar
to watch it. So they're going to keep making that
game happen What I find interesting about this is I
don't trus this committee. I don't and I don't know
that I would truck gaming committee. Frankly, I'm playing to
assist in my head who would I put on this,
and I'm absolutely gonna put myself in that way. But

(25:58):
I would also put people like class Nick Saban, the
Curve Street, guys that actually have to have conversations with
coaches and players call the game, stand up for what
it is that they're saying back in opinion to the wall,
rightly or wrongly, and get a little bit more transparency.
But it's also why I want this to be a
much more streamline, kind of like the NCAA tournament. If
you win your conference championship, cool, you get a bit,

(26:21):
and we do that across the board. Were all nine
of our conference champions and then if you want to
have their at large bits. It doesn't seem like the
committee's using these losses to make their point, and much
the same way that we can look at the SEC
and go, yeah, I can see five SEC teams getting
in in a sixteen or a twenty fourteen playoff and
inner twelve. This committee just has too much control and

(26:43):
they lost a bit of it you might have. Now
it's straight speeding. And that's the reason many of us
wants this thing that stint. I want more games. I
want more games because the scoreboards dictate who wins the
national championship, and not these suits in a room incorrectly
ranking football teams as if they have not watched them
play football.

Speaker 2 (27:02):
R J Young joining us here on Fox Sports Radio.
By the way, Kirk kurb Streets dog would have to
leave the meeting. If you're talking about any K nine mascots,
the dog would have to leave the room. And then
you could discuss the Georgia Bulldogs. You could have those
sort of conversations. Okay, a couple of quick ones before
we let you go, RJ. Just because of the slate
that we've got ahead USC, let's just say they go,

(27:24):
they're ten point underdog at Oregon this weekend, they go,
they beat the Ducks. Are they firmly in the playoff
if they get this win?

Speaker 3 (27:33):
No, they're not firmly in the playoffs. But it goes
a long way because it feels like one of those
thing's gonna get played out right more of I think
Oregon's got a little bit of room here, but not
really because they don't have a link win that Saradine. More.
They need the win against that scene coming into Austin
is not something that Lincoln Riley has ever done. Thatt
effect USC has not beat Oregons in twenty sixteen, and

(27:55):
Lincoln Riley has not beaten a top ten opponents at
at sea. That's one and that's two. It'd be tremendous,
but I think they still need help right that win over.
Michigan's doing a lot of work for them now, both
of these programs me. Michigan beat Ohio State, but right
now it feels like Morgan is going to dump us
be on its head because Morgan runs the football really,

(28:16):
really frigging well, and USC can't stop the run.

Speaker 2 (28:20):
You answered the question my second question about Oregon and
saying on how tight it would be if they were
to lose. What about UH Oklahoma after the big win
against Alabama last week? Any possibility for a home letdown against.

Speaker 3 (28:32):
Missoo Dan, I screamed myself, of course, wasn't that. I'm
not kidding.

Speaker 2 (28:38):
I could still hear a little of it. To be
honest with you, I was not.

Speaker 3 (28:42):
Living but as a farm work my boys. Man. I
was living as yelling a chip Lewis, But they're playing there.
It's tight rope. They got to win against Missouri, then
they got to win against LSU, and then they've got
to hope this bunch of suits in a boar room. See,
Hey they beat a ranked Michigan. Hey they beat a
rank Tennessee, hey they unseated number for Alabama. Heyda dodo Right, Missouri,

(29:02):
they might have ten win, but it's the best ten
win resume at college football. And then you've just got
to wait and see. Right, there's a poorite part of
this there where they could end up with a home game.
There's a part of this where they could end up
on the roads. But right now, it feels like if
Oklahoma deef that shows up to stop a lot hardy,
they're going to get this win. And if both privile
of plays, I might get a little bit dicey, but

(29:24):
I'm not really convinced that Matt Zellers has the experience
the beat a team like Oklahoma, especially with that defensive
list and playing And as long as John McTeer doesn't
turn into the hide and stay mister Jackyl will be
okay over there. So it feels like, yeah, finished the
season when against Missouri win against LSU. You're going to
get in all right.

Speaker 6 (29:43):
R J.

Speaker 2 (29:43):

We'll talk to you soon.

Speaker 3 (29:54):
Thank you, Dan, Talk to SI. R J.

Speaker 2 (29:55):
Young always great to talk to him.

Speaker 3 (29:57):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (29:58):
Interesting slate as well because you have some of the
S schools, SEC schools playing some non conference opponents leading
up the rivalry games next week. But US Oregon UH,
definitely at the top of the billing. Week twelve in
the NFL has got a lot to play for. We
got the Bills in Texans tonight. But we also have
some new names at the quarterback position, names that we
may never see again we draft them. I'm Dan Byer

(30:20):
in for Doug Gottlieb. That's next here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 7 (30:23):

I'm gonna lace them up and learn to Skate USA
place to be. All right, let's play a game.

Speaker 7 (31:12):
This is game time on the Doug Gottlieb Show.

Speaker 2 (31:18):
You heading back to Iowa, Iowa, Sam for Thanksgiving.

Speaker 8 (31:21):
No, they're gonna be coming out here.

Speaker 2 (31:24):
Maybe you can see some creeks freezing over. It's gonna
be chilly. Yeah. Later, Chris, you're gonna be back in
the Midwest.

Speaker 6 (31:31):
I am.

Speaker 5 (31:32):
I'm going to Toledo and I'm going up to Detroit
Lions game with my mom for Thanksgiving. That's the way
that'll be, and that'll be very cold. So and of course,
because we all know how Dan has set up all
these games, so we have a calendar of every week.
It is Wednesday, which means it's actually thy excuse feels
like Wednesday? Well, it is Thursday. What's that means?

Speaker 6 (31:52):
Sam?

Speaker 2 (31:56):
I feel a draft even more so right now?

Speaker 5 (31:58):
Right I think it's rain outside right now too, which
means is gonna get even colder.

Speaker 2 (32:02):
All right?

Speaker 5 (32:02):
The theme for today is we are drafting quarterbacks starting
this week in the NFL that will not be a
starter next year. Any reason for not being a starter
is valid.

Speaker 2 (32:13):
Here.

Speaker 5 (32:13):
We'll go ahead and Dan, you get the first pick.

Speaker 2 (32:15):
All right, first pick. I think that there are a
lot of names that have the potential, but I'm gonna
go with the one that I think is the surest
bet of all, Aaron Rodgers. And he may not even
start this week, but as of right now, he hasn't
been ruled out. I think it's retirement after this season.
I'll take Aaron Rodgers of the Steelers number one.

Speaker 8 (32:37):
It's a good one. All right, Sam, you got the
number two pick? Oh man, all right, you know what,
I take Rogers from him. I was just looking at
the first couple of games. Let's see here. Next next year,
I'll go with Jamis Winston.

Speaker 7 (32:55):
Oh.

Speaker 8 (32:55):
I would imagine he's starting, right, he's gonna be starting
at against the Lions.

Speaker 2 (32:59):
Yeah, for the driving official status on Jackson Dark just yet.

Speaker 8 (33:02):
Yeah, I think that probably I'm gonna go with Jamis.
I'm gonna go Jamis, not he'll be a backup in
his back in his backup role next year.

Speaker 5 (33:08):
Okay, all right, hello, Granted, with how many hits Jackson
Dark takes, you never know what that front. But either way,
it's good there. All right, I've got the number three
pig and then Jason goes back to back. Oh to
be a hater, I could absolutely be a hater here.
I'm gonna say Shader Sanders. Okay, I know he is
starting this week, and I'm sure the Sanders fans out
there love that he's starting. Forgets, the four of sixteen

(33:33):
was the fault of Kevin Stefanski. However, I'm putting down
my chips and I'm saying like, this is probably the
last year we will see Sanders starting, at least for
the Cleveland Browns, because they're going to draft a quarterback again.

Speaker 2 (33:43):
At no point in twenty sixteen. Chris says, twenty twenty six, Yeah,
twenty twenty six. Storry, Hey, you thought it was WEDNESDAYE
I know, I know, shadre Eh send all the hate
mail to at Chris perfet.

Speaker 6 (33:57):
Jason, you got the snake that was the hot line
Kuyper Chris Purfett is racist. I'm ready, I'm ready to go.
I'm going to do Kirk Cousins, and I'm gonna make
also the proclamation that could be his final season in
the NFL. And then I'm gonna do one that's probably
an unpopular opinion in the North Midwest. I'm gonna say

(34:21):
JJ McCarthy. Oh, so my other hate pick. I thought
someone was gonna try to take him at nine nine,
the altar of the alter ego nine. The packers are,
they're planning for JJ McCarthy. You can't plan for nine.

Speaker 2 (34:41):
You can't plan for nine. No, there's nothing that you
can do about it.

Speaker 5 (34:43):
He might throw to your cornerback, he might safety, he
might throw way out of bounds. You don't know what
this guy's gonna do. He's sick in the head, all right, Well,
with JJ off the board, I'm gonna scratch my head
a little bit. I'm gonna take Kirk Cousins. I know
he's getting a bit of a revival because of Pennix's injury.
This is now the third acl repair. I think Pennix.

Speaker 2 (35:03):
Now, hypothetically, let's say that Jason took him two picks ago.
So if Jason did take Kirk Cousins and JJ McCarthy.
So just hypothetically, hypothetically, if Jason took him two picks ago,
so you couldn't take Kirk Cousins, who would you take?
So what was what was your other pick? Jason?

Speaker 6 (35:21):
There's a chance Chris may have meant DeMarcus Cousins. I
picked him a fourth overall?

Speaker 2 (35:28):
Yes, Oh.

Speaker 5 (35:30):
Did say Kirkcusey, I didn't haven't scratched off yet.

Speaker 2 (35:32):
Okay, you took Schador, then he went Kirk Cousins and
JJ McCarthy.

Speaker 5 (35:36):
Okay, so let me try that again. We're making a
lot of mistakes here. Then next to my list, I
would probably take Geno Smith. It's tough, but like, look,
he's got one more year on his contract after this.
They're not playing well. Questions about even if Pete Carroll's
going to be there. I raiders feel like again a
contender for switching quarterbacks.

Speaker 8 (35:55):
All right, Sam, it's kind of coming to my attention
here that this is an exercise of looking at all
of the guys playing this Sunday who right filling in right?

Speaker 2 (36:06):
Like this is the backup Sunday, backup Bowl, backup.

Speaker 8 (36:10):
Okay, I got a couple written down here, but I'm
gonna go with Justin Fields, so I don't even get
Tyrod Taylor starting.

Speaker 6 (36:18):
Okay, well, then just tired Taylor.

Speaker 2 (36:21):
I'm gonna go Jacoby Brissette.

Speaker 6 (36:23):
Oh wow, I'm just saying the draft. He just left, Dan,
I did?

Speaker 2 (36:28):
I have three quarterbacks left? All right? And Davis Mills
is going to be spared because I had Davis Mills.
I think Jacoby Brissette could start next year, but it's
not as much of a sure thing. So I'll take
Torod Taylor. You're taking Jacoby Brissette at seven. I'll take
Torod Taylor at a.

Speaker 5 (36:46):
Sam Swam three. And with about three mistakes between myself
and Dan.

Speaker 2 (36:51):
I only got the year wrong. I will say.

Speaker 7 (36:55):
Game. This is game time on The du Gottlieb Show.
