Speaker 2 (00:18):
Oh, we have struck gold like the forty nine ers
did on Monday Night football.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
Oh yeah, boom, what up America?

Speaker 4 (00:25):
Thanks for tuning in.

Speaker 5 (00:26):
It is the Doug Gottlieb Show.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Do you know that the show today, Manzi is sponsored
by DraftKings Sportsbook.

Speaker 4 (00:34):
Say what, It's an official sports.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Betting partner of the NFL and NBA. Right now, use
the promo code Gottlieb to claim your special offer at DraftKings. Again,
that's promo code Gottlieb at DraftKings. The crown is yours.
I saw tweets last night Rock Purty zero point five
interceptions definitely taking the under. The three interceptions cost me

(00:56):
a fantasy victory.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
Yeah, Surrey, it was an interesting steam first quarter.

Speaker 4 (01:01):
Those interceptions happened in what three minutes?

Speaker 5 (01:04):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:04):
Was there was there a bet on that how closely
interceptions were gonna happen.

Speaker 5 (01:09):
And there are other ones that could have been picked off.

Speaker 4 (01:11):
Oh yeah, totally.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
But what happens Monzi as we are in for Doug
Gottlie by the way, for those wondering where Doug is,
Doug's gonna be on with us in about fifteen minutes.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
He's a busy man.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
He's leaving the Virgin Islands with that fourth place finish.
As we signed off on the show yesterday, it was
me and Carry Rhodes Manzi. Doug's team was holding on
to a late lead against Iona and ended up pulling
out the victory, so they went two and one. Doug's
gonna join us in about fifteen minutes. And the conversation
normally at this point would be like, man, should the

(01:43):
forty nine ers rock Purdy? What's going on with that?
Jason Stewart, our executive producer, I felt that this was baiting, Jason,
that you wanted to talk about Christian McCaffrey's he on
your fantasy team?

Speaker 5 (01:56):
Is he at all on your fantasy team?

Speaker 6 (01:58):
No?

Speaker 7 (01:58):
No, no, no, no, that was there was no hidden
agenda there. I think there are two running backs in
the NFL that are easy to watch and fun to watch,
and that's Gibbs and McCaffrey. So as McCaffrey was having success,
I went on the group shot and I said, Hey,
of all the running backs, I like watching him. You know,
not all running backs have that kind of pizzazz.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
And I immediately made it about me because I just
shot it down because I was so ticked off about
losing a fantasy football game.

Speaker 5 (02:26):
By six tenths of a point.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
And part of that was them continuingly giving it to
Christian McCaffrey a couple of lateral passes that ended up
being runs and not passes on the play that could
have helped brock Perty's total. But all of that conversation
that we have here, by the way, I told my
son before the game. As a Seahawks fan, he goes, Daddy,

(02:48):
who are we cheering for? And he loves it when
we cheer for the animal teams. Okay, so Panthers. Of course,
he doesn't know what a forty nine er is. He
has no idea. So when like rock Party threw a
pass to Juwan Jennings and I was getting fantasy points,
I was like, yeah, he looked at me like I
was from Mars.

Speaker 4 (03:07):
Yeah, because you were not cheering for the black Kitty.
I was, you know what I'm.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Saying, Your words, not mine, but I'd get it. He
would probably say cat. He would probably say cat. But yes,
that's I thought we were cheering for the Panthers. I said,
we are like we are, We truly are.

Speaker 5 (03:24):
But I it's tough to explain to a four year old.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
Totally totally.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
But while we're talking about the forty nine ers, we're
talking about why I'm cheering for brock Purty but cheering
against the forty nine ers. There's a name that I
actually think that we have to talk about, and it's
Bryce Young. Because for everyone's little For as rough as
it was for brock Purty last night, twenty three to
thirty two, one hundred and ninety three yards, a touchdown

(03:49):
on three interceptions, and he's got the big contract, it
wasn't much different for Bryce Young. Eighteen of twenty nine,
one hundred and sixty nine yards. He had a touch
sound was picked off twice last night. And now, in
this era of talking about quarterbacks having one, not having one,
paying one, not paying one, Bryce Young is about to

(04:12):
enter an interesting crossroads of his career because last night
MONTI could have been an opportunity for the Panthers to
take over first place in the NFC South. To say,
Baker Mayfield's injured, don't know if he's going to play
in week thirteen. We have an opportunity to seize control
of this division. And what a way to do it,

(04:32):
going across the country on Monday night football and taking
down the San Francisco forty nine Ers, who were in
the playoff hunt in their own right. That could have
been a good tiebreaker to have, and instead the Panthers
offense just kind of falls flat on their face.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
Yeah, it's not great when you get three interceptions out
of rock party, but you're only able to get three
points out of it. That never looks good, right, and
especially where the one that he throws in immediate interception
in the end zone right after it doesn't look good.
But the forty nine ers was always going to be
a tall task. I think they were favored by seven points,
so it was always gonna be a tough task for them.

(05:06):
It wasn't that there's a chance, of course, there's a chance,
but the forty nine ers have been also trying to
play for something despite all the injuries, and I don't know, Dan,
You've heard me talk about Bryce Young, so you tell
me if I'm crazy, if I'm looking at this with
like rose colored glasses.

Speaker 4 (05:24):
But I at this point am not ready to move
on from Bryce Young. I think in the.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
Three seasons that he has been the quarterback for the Panthers,
we have seen a consistent increase in production. He looks better,
even if it's a little bit, but he keeps looking better.
I know last night he did not, but we have
seen him look better, and the Panthers are winning every
year a little bit more. Who thought they were going
to be right now at six and six? I don't
think anyone thought that. So you are moving in the

(05:53):
right direction. Is it moving slower than you thought? Or
are you just looking at your currency situation of the
record you have and now you feel like.

Speaker 4 (06:02):
Wait, are we should we should we move on from him?
Are we better than we are without him?

Speaker 3 (06:07):
And I think it's just because they've had such early
success in the season that they weren't expecting that. Maybe
people are putting that into perspective, but in reality, I
would not.

Speaker 4 (06:15):
I'm not ready to move on from Bryce Young.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
I'm not ready to see if the grass is green
on the other side, because I don't think it is.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
And there's going to be a decision that the Panthers
are going to have to make. They're going to have
to do a variety of things because Bryce Young is
about to wrap up his third season, is he's in
the midst of his third season, and there's going to
be a fifty year option on his contract that the
Carolina Panthers are going to have to decide this offseason
if they are going to pick up. And the reason

(06:44):
why I think that this conversation is so unique, Mancy,
is not because it's unique to the Carolina Panthers, but
the Carolina Panthers are in a situation that I'm going
to say that they're sandwiched between the Miami Dolphins and
the Minnesota Vikings. Okay, And the reason I say that
is is this the head coaches of both of those teams,
Minnesota and Miami, are thought to be very offensive minded coaches.

(07:07):
Kevin O'Connell we're talking about is the quarterback whisper right,
Mike McDaniel has squeezed as much juice as you can
out of to a tongue of iloa and right now
with the Dolphins season likely being over, but they've showed
life as of late. You got to give credit to
McDaniel because he hasn't lost the locker room. If JJ

(07:30):
McCarthy doesn't work out in Minnesota with Kevin O'Connell, who's
he gonna work out for?

Speaker 5 (07:35):
I have no idea.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
And Dave Canalis being the head coach of the Panthers
is kind of like Kevin O'Connell in this scenario where
you've got a guy who fixed Gino Smith. Now look
at Gino Smith without Dave Canallis. Baker Mayfield helped him
in Tampa, which is the reason why Dave Canallis got
the job. So if there's anybody there to help Bryce

(07:58):
Young reach his highest heights, it's Dave Canalis and that's
the reason that he was hired. I would lean towards
your point of keeping Bryce Young because you have the
quarterback guru that you would want with him. I would
just be hesitant to commit the money that the Dolphins
did to Tua fair So I think that there was

(08:19):
a commitment that the Dolphins were hiring Mike McDaniel, you're
going to fix Tua and he did and they ended
up paying him. I'm trying to push that cart down
the road, whether it be with franchise tags, whether it
be picking up the fifth year option, whether it be
doing something with Jordan Love or with Bryce Young that
the Packers did with Jordan Love. I agree like Bryce
Young needs more time, but you can't make a financial,

(08:41):
enormous financial commitment because of what happened last night.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
I totally agree with you, And I feel like Bryce
Young knows that he is not a top ten court
you know what I'm saying, Like he knows what he
is right now in relation to other quarterbacks in the league.
But I just think his progress has shown that he's
not just out there kind of hoping something is gonna

(09:04):
work out. It looks like he's actually playing the quarterback position,
which is something that Tom.

Speaker 4 (09:10):
Brady has talked about. That's like, you don't see that anymore.
It takes some time to get there, right.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
We're literally seeing how some quarterbacks like Sam Darnold have revitalized.

Speaker 4 (09:19):
Their career later on.

Speaker 3 (09:20):
So it's like it's still early, but he's showing you
to me all of the right moves that I would
want as a as a you know, general manager, as
a coach. He's doing all the right things. Is it
moving slower than others? Sure, but he's moving in the
right direction.

Speaker 4 (09:35):
So I would not give him a giant deal like
you're saying.

Speaker 3 (09:39):
I would work something out with him where it's like,
we like you, let's keep you around.

Speaker 4 (09:44):
What did you say that the Packers gave Jordan Love.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Yeah, so when they ended up giving instead of picking
up Jordan Love's fifth year option, because they really hadn't
seen him at that point, they gave him a one
year extension to the deal that had a limited amount
of guarantees in the deal, like thirteen million guaranteed. The
overall value of the extension was like twenty two million dollars,
but it actually allowed them to see him play a

(10:06):
little bit. I don't think you would do that if Carolina,
or if you're Bryce Young in that scenario, your your
option is going to be twenty six million dollars.

Speaker 5 (10:14):
That's about the value of it.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
But you've you've shown that we're a week and a
half removed from him for throwing for four hundred and
forty some yards and it come from behind victory. So
it's there. The ultimate question though, because I think that
you were hitting on it there where do you think
his ultimate ultimate peak is? Do you think that Bryce

(10:36):
Young can be a top five quarterback in the National
Football League? And I'm not telling you to name five
other quarterbacks, but we're talking about a group that has
Josh Daniels, that who knows, may have Drake may in
it very soon. We thought that James Daniels was there.
You know, we're talking Joe Burrow class. Do you think
Bryce Young can reach those those levels?

Speaker 3 (10:56):
I right now am not willing to say that he
could be a top five, but I'm willing to say
that I think he could be around a top ten,
you know, a quarterback that can take you far and
can help you win.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
Yes, And I think that you're saying, let's let's do
the Sam Donald thing, but let's keep you in Carolina.

Speaker 4 (11:13):
Yes, let's keep you here. You know our system, you
know what we've been working on.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
I think at this point you would look at the
Panthers season and already.

Speaker 4 (11:20):
Say this season was a success.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
Would you not like for them being at this point,
they're probably already like, we're good, We've done. We have
over exceeded our expectations for this season. So why would
you not continue to build on it at least for
the next one or two years. Now, let's say let's
say that the Panthers sneak into the playoffs as a
seventh seed this year and the same thing next year,

(11:42):
and they get wiped out in the first round. Let's
say that happens in back to back seasons. Then maybe
I'm reassessing my situation.

Speaker 5 (11:48):
But right now, that would be a too a situation, correct.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
That would be honestly be a situation where TA got
him to the wild card round and that's as far
as the Dolphins could end up getting, and then you
just wouldn't want to commit that money to Bryce Young, Right,
This is why I would absolutely slow play it. Bryce
Young's best years in the NFL could come in a sixth, seventh,
and eighth year. I don't think he's ever going to
be a top five quarterback. Agree, I don't think he
has to be. Regal Dadle getting six carries last night

(12:12):
was one of the reasons why Carolina lost that football game.

Speaker 4 (12:15):
Yeah, that didn't make a lot of sense to me.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
I didn't have the football. The turnovers hurt him as well,
but yeah, it just it was that's like, that's a reason.
But when we're looking at the broad scape of it,
I think last night, in a standalone game. I don't
know how many people watched what he did against Atlanta
in the comeback. This is a standalone game, and you
watch him throw two interceptions and get pressured, and you're like, ah, gosh,
Bryce Young, isn't it I agree with your assessment on it,

(12:38):
And I think of how we've handled quarterbacks previously was
we're either going to give him all the money in
the world or we're just gonna cut him loose. That
is not what NFL twenty twenty five is, And as
evidenced by Darnald, it's evidenced by the Vikings apparently wanting
to seemingly cut bait with JJ McCarthy.

Speaker 5 (12:57):
It's with the.

Speaker 2 (12:58):
Dolphins, even though that they were part of the problem,
still trying to figure out a way to make it
work with Tua just because of how bad that contract is.
There's all of that together. So if you're Carolina, keep
Bryce Young, if you want to pick up his fifth
year option, fine, and then franchise take him after that
or figure out a certain deal that would be acceptable.
I'm just not giving him fifty five or sixty million dollars.

(13:20):
I don't think he's ever going to be a fifty
five to sixty million dollars quarterback.

Speaker 3 (13:23):
And if he is good for you, you must have done
some really great things in the coming years.

Speaker 4 (13:28):
But I totally agree with you why we don't act.

Speaker 3 (13:31):
Like there is someone there that you want to invest
in because I'm not gonna throw anyone into the bus.
But we've literally, literally seen quarterbacks this year that because
of your quarterback play, you have not won any games.
The Panthers have won because of Bryce Young. You know,
they're not winning in spite of him. That's not the situation.
We've seen that with other teams, and so again things

(13:53):
seem to be going well, just maybe moving at a
slower pace.

Speaker 4 (13:57):
But don't don't turn away yet.

Speaker 5 (14:00):
Don't don't turn your back Bryce Young talk getting old,
not at all, not at all.

Speaker 4 (15:04):
In any way, like no rollerblade, no.

Speaker 2 (15:06):
No, no. I remember taking so the parks in our town.
They would take the ball diamonds and you'd put a
skating rink on a little warming house and I remember
sliding with my moon boots on that when I was
a kid. My big family, but my aunt and uncle

was fresh off of a tournament at the US Virgin

during those games over the weekend. Doug's gonna join us
from the Islands in a bit, Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox

(16:09):
Sports Radio. She's Watty Belanos. I'm Dan Beyer joining us now,
fresh off of a fourth place finish at the Paradise
Jam on the US Virgin Islands. He's the head coach
of the green Bay Phoenix and the host of this show.
Doug Gottlieb joining us here. So when one coach job
well done.

Speaker 8 (16:30):
I mean I'm getting goosed on you and thinking about it,
you know, I mean what people who don't know our sport,
don't understand is like it's kind of career. It was
like schedule aside what I what I did to start
to hear right at Kansas, at Minnesota, at Buffalo, at
Saint Thomas, and then to this tournament where we were

(16:52):
far away the lowest rated team last year and going
to this year. So to win two, you know, against
and to play as well as we played against Yale
in the first game, who won the tournament, it was
just awesome. And then you know, we were able to do
so with our leading scorer, Marcos Slo rolled his ankle
at the end of the Yale game, so he didn't

(17:13):
play in the two wins. And you know, the difference
in this year's team and last year's team, as you know, Dan,
last year we lost the nation's lean scorer, Anthony Roy,
and we just kind of collapsed for about a month
before we figured it out. And you know, this year
we've you know, we have I got a little bit
more talent and just now and came off the bench
and gave us twenty seven to twenty eight back to

(17:33):
back nights, and the guys, guys just fought, just really
really fought, and it was a big, big week for
us in terms of like team bonding and then figuring
ourselves out. So yeah, thanks, thanks for the congratulations.

Speaker 5 (17:45):
Yeah, I think that I think that it's great. You
talked so much last year.

Speaker 2 (17:48):
Are you maybe overscheduled and this year you were going
to be conscious of it? Has that worked out so far?
Because I mean this tournament you're facing an IONA team
that's picked top half of Metro Atlantic. You've got UMass
in them, an American they're considered a top half program
in that league. In the preseason, Paulie, you just mentioned

(18:08):
Yale their pick to win the IVY League.

Speaker 5 (18:10):
Was this kind of what you had.

Speaker 2 (18:11):
In mind in terms of comparing the last year when
you were playing all those big, big teams.

Speaker 8 (18:17):
No, No, this year's actually this year's actually worse. But
now it gets It only gets better now because we
have the game spaced out. You know, last year they
were just like kind of earlier, this year kind of
stacked on you. It's hard to get them all in.
But you know, now we play Haskel Indyan Nations with
a non D one. It's a big game for us

(18:38):
with with the folks that are night of sponsoring it.
That's Saturday, and then we open up conference play a
week from Thursday, so we have like because you know,
like they get worn down and also you have to
kind of and once you figure your team out, Okay,
this is what defense they played, this is what offense,
this is what the rotation or you know, so you

(18:59):
need some practice time and we just didn't have it
last year and we were traveling so far across the country.
So we this year we're able to condense the travel
Saint Thomas and Minnesota one trip, you know this three
games one trip, so it was it was less taxing.
But the level of competition is actually higher this year.
Santa Barbara coming up still, Campbell come up still. But

(19:22):
the good thing is we have some space between games
and then next year, well we'll still play a good
group of mid and high majors and then we'll have
you know, some more teams at our level home and
road that we can play. We just you know, you
absorb some of the previous and that it's actually two
staffs to go schedule and then last st half and
it's it's honestly, Dan, it's like when you're taking over

(19:45):
being a contractor of a house that's had like two
other contractors. You're like, we why they do this? It
made sense to them at the time, but doesn't make
sense what you want to do. So this year we
were able to space out some of the games, especially
moving forward, and then next year we're able to We're
going to try and space them out and then to
travel and play a little bit more appropriate level opponents

(20:07):
for half of the non conference.

Speaker 2 (20:09):
And I don't want the question to be posed in
a certain way because the whole nobody you crap last
year was just completely It was wrong because it wasn't
you weren't talking about Michigan Tech in that conversation. My
point with the schools that you played in the Paradise
Jam or that these aren't bottom feeder schools from the
worst conferences of college basketball, that these are legitimate programs.

(20:31):
I mean, we know UMass, we know Frank Martin, but
that is more of I was wondering if that is
more of like a test for you guys at this
point of your program tenure, that were these schools more
appropriate to find out where Green Bay is right now?
That's kind of my question or my point.

Speaker 8 (20:49):
I mean, like, you know, Buffalo is undefeated in the
Mac and we felt like we had a good shot
to beat them. I didn't play just talents that game
because he was not yet, not yet where we wanted
to defensively. So maybe maybe I'm an idiot in that sense,
but yeah, I mean I really you messed, Dan, I mean,
you watch all of our games. Why do we get

(21:11):
beat outside of defense, rebounding, turnovers, right, yeah, and so
you know again I think you mess out rebounded us,
but they're a phenomenal rebounding team. But we were right there.
We we didn't turned the ball over against them five
turnovers last night, won the rebounding battle. Last night, we

(21:33):
won the rebounding battle against Yale. So you know, like
when you're well, you can't just go by results. The
process of getting better defensively, getting better on the boards,
getting more secure with the basketball, it's all there, and
then we just we've thrown some in to win some
of these games. But the bigger point, in terms of tests,

(21:54):
you mess. I mean, Frank Martinstein's played hard and physical
and last year's team probably would have will to that
at some point under the pressure. This team did not.
And then you know, Iona plays a really really electric
offensive style and we fell fell behind early like nine
to nothing, not playing well, and then fell behind again

(22:14):
started second half. Last year's team would have wilted. This
year's team did not. So I think that's where the
growth is, regardless of quality of opponents. Yeah, those are
good teams. They're frankly above our level in really in
good Major league. Weren't a good major Major league. But
you know we we we were picked three hundred and
twentieth in the country, so right now we're playing better
than that. But we'll see if we can keep it going.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
All right, dono Jason Stewart wants in, but I've got
one more. And I'm just curious on how much it's
you take over the program in May of twenty twenty four,
so just of having that extra two months, having that
extra time to prepare the season, how different has that
been to be able to have like a full basically
a full year, to have your fingerprints on it.

Speaker 8 (22:57):
Oh, it's totally different. I mean my staff is different.
And again it's not like to take shots at players
of the past or staff in the past, but like
what works for me is different than I thought. What
works for Green Green Bay is a little bit different
than I thought, and then you have to really judge
the landscape and you know, you kind of got to
get a feel for who can play for you and

(23:19):
what you need and all those things. So and we're
still not perfect. We missed, we missed on some kids
in recruiting that you know they're playing well elsewhere that
we passed on, or we didn't you know, we didn't
go hard enough on some of the kids. There's a
couple of ours that are not yet brought into what
we want. And but yeah, better, I mean, you know,
I'm not an idiot, like I know that you need

(23:41):
experience and that it was it was gonna be hard
with experience. And then it's not just that it was
in May, but it was you know Sunday and Twicks
did a great job, but he was only there for
you know, thirteen months. You know, so again like you're
coming in and you're cleaning up messages and last year
we were on actic probation and you know, everything that

(24:02):
could go wrong went wrong. So yeah, I feel much
more confident and competent. And you know, I'm bummed that
I didn't get to do the show while we're in
the Virgin Islands, but you know, I get all these things.
Like you. It does give you a chance to reflect
and take a snap shot of it. And it's really interesting,
you know, because you know, some other players and other

(24:25):
coaches come up and like, hey, I actually listen to
your show. You're not doing it this week. Like, no,
the games at the same time as my show doesn't work.
So the whole thing is better and it feels more comfortable.
And yeah, I mean the ext it's not just the
extra two months. It's when you coach in college basketball.
You have a better feel for the portal, you got
a better feel for the fishing, and you got a
better field for schedule, you got a better field for staff,

(24:48):
your own players. How it all works, you know. And
and also I haven't been doing it for forty years,
so I'm not annoyed by little things. Like all these
things are new and fun to me. So that part
helps too. That and I look, we were bad, you know,
I took a beating in the media. I'm still going
to take a beating every time we lose. You know,
I don't know how good we are ultimately, but that

(25:11):
was different than I thought it would be, and it
affected my players more than I thought it would affect them.
But I also think that the ones that came back,
part of it is they came back because they want
to prove everybody wrong, and we use that to kind
of fuel them as well.

Speaker 7 (25:24):
I think the one thing that I am in charge
of around here is I have my finger on the
pulse of social media. I am a good rip barometer
for the social media reaction to you and your team,
and I've noticed a couple of things over the last
couple of days. One of two things really quiet, really
quiet on the negative front, and then I've seen a

(25:47):
lot of compliments. And I'm going to say this because
you can't so all those jerks that were quick to
kick Doug Gottlieb and the teeth a year ago, I
need you to go on to your social media now
and give credit when credits due. I know it's only
the first month of the season. I know it's only
three wins, but you can't kick them in the teeth

(26:10):
for an entire season without being like, you know what,
maybe I was wrong about this guy. That's what I'm
looking for, Doug. I know you can't say it, but
that's what I'm looking for. You deserve that.

Speaker 8 (26:21):
I appreciate guys, been doing all shore radio all the time.

Speaker 5 (26:25):
We've done a little, Yeah, we've done a little.

Speaker 8 (26:32):
Well, listen, I appreciate. I appreciate Jason. I would just
say that, like again, you know, nobody's when I do
in victory laps over you know, winning two games in
the Constellation bracket. We I know, my my coaches have
really really helped me, and I've gotten better. I believe

(26:53):
we're really well coached and well prepared, and I think
our players are better collectively better. I know there's you
know who knows. I think our leagues really good. I
think it's gonna be hard, but it's a lot like
the Shador thing, right, like, hey, just one game, the
best of the best. It's how much can you how
often can you do it? How consistently can you do it?

(27:15):
And the only way to shut people up is to
just keep at keep at it, and keep doing your job.
And you know, you can't control what other people think
of what you're doing.

Speaker 9 (27:27):
Hey, Doug, a quick question for actually just sort of
a general.

Speaker 8 (27:31):
No without playing IOWA, Well, I saw that on the schedule.

Speaker 9 (27:35):
Maybe someday in the future that would be nice, But
how about this the holy Trinity of experiences from the Caribbean.
Your first time down there. Can you give me one
food takeaway? One's just sort of island takeaway of your
experience in the Caribbean, first time in the Caribbean. And
did you have a carib beer?

Speaker 8 (27:54):
I did not have a crib beer, although I'm at
the airport bar. I might, I mean, should do I
need to? I take a suggestions?

Speaker 5 (28:02):
We were just it's just it's just to say you
did so.

Speaker 9 (28:04):
It's it's nothing special, but just just as curious about
I saw your I saw like maybe the foyer or
whatever it is to your hotel.

Speaker 5 (28:12):
It looked so gorgeous, like look.

Speaker 8 (28:14):
We stayed at the at the Western We stay at
the West in and I think it had been redone
because I think one of the hurricanes hit it. My
brother last time he coached here, he said, you know,
hurricane and hid and so they didn't stay there or whatever.
It was spectacular. We never left the property except for
practice and games, and we didn't need to. So I

(28:37):
have no real experience at the same Thomas other than
the beach was amazing. The weather was perfect, that people
were nice and everybody everybody for now on you when
when I tell you it's five minutes, I'll be home
in five minutes, or I'll do in five minutes and
five turns to seven or ten or twelve. Just no,
I'm an island time. That's I've learned that island times.

(28:57):
I got leave done. I feel like it's the fishing
guy ever down here.

Speaker 2 (29:04):
Let's wrap it up. I can hear the announcements being made.
I can't wait to see what's gonna happen in conference play.
But job well done on the islands, and safe travels
back here to the mainland bank.

Speaker 8 (29:15):
Thank you guys. Next time we do the island trip,
that's when we have to do the remote not in Kansas.

Speaker 5 (29:20):
Yes, agreed, all right? Safe travels.

Speaker 6 (29:26):
Breaking news from Fox Fort Hi.

Speaker 10 (29:28):
Doug.

Speaker 2 (29:28):
Hello, breaking news. Let's go straight to the news desk
with Isaac Longkron.

Speaker 11 (29:32):
The NFL has just suspended Carolina Panthers safety Trayvon Merrig
one game without pay for punching San Francisco forty nine
Ers receiver Juwan Jennings in the groin during last night's game.

Speaker 7 (29:47):
He does have the right to appeal.

Speaker 2 (29:48):
I'm calling it package gate. I don't know what you
want to call it.

Speaker 5 (29:52):
I don't know. That's what I'm going to call this
package gate.

Speaker 3 (29:55):
Can you explain that for the people who may not
know what?

Speaker 5 (29:59):
No, I don't. I don't.

Speaker 2 (30:01):
I can only do it after ten PM. I can
only explain it at that point. Mary had a cast
as well when he took the shot to Juwan Jennings.

Speaker 5 (30:15):
The question is.

Speaker 2 (30:19):
This is now back to back weeks where we've had
disrespected this respect acts.

Speaker 5 (30:23):
On the football field between opposing players.

Speaker 3 (30:26):
Yeah, which is unfortunate because it's you just don't want
to see that. I mean, the spinning thing is one thing,
but I obviously do not know what it is like
to be hit there.

Speaker 4 (30:39):
Sure you know what I'm saying, but it seems awful.

Speaker 5 (30:42):
What's worse? Do you think?

Speaker 2 (30:44):
Not pain tolerance because spinning doesn't hurt, But what is worse?
Integrity wise?

Speaker 3 (30:51):
I feel like a dude doing that to a dude,
hurting you in the spot where it hurts.

Speaker 4 (30:56):
That's kind of worse because it's.

Speaker 2 (30:57):
Like, you know how much is Let's ask dude, Jason Stewart,
what's worse spit on or being hit in the package?

Speaker 7 (31:03):
No, I think if you're just doing disrespect and dehumanizing
I think, I think spitting is close to the top
than other bottom way fluids.

Speaker 2 (31:13):
But but you guys play games like you do do that?

Speaker 5 (31:17):
You do that?

Speaker 2 (31:18):
Yes, nobody plays, you know, loogie games with each other.

Speaker 4 (31:25):
Yeah, the spit thing is complete disrespect.

Speaker 3 (31:27):
The other one is I want to cause you pain
because you guys know that it's causing pain. It's like
the easiest way to cause pain. Yes, which kind of sucks,
Like you took a that's an eat. That's a cheap shot,
as you know, we we know it is. But yes,
the spit thing is is definitely more disrespectful.

Speaker 5 (31:44):
But Jason, I felt like I cut you off? Did
I cut you off or you? No?

Speaker 7 (31:47):
No, No, I think she's right. What she just said
is true. And I think another man going after another
man's jewels is it's just a different category of not cool, correct,
And but the spitting is just degraded in his hell Well, it's.

Speaker 2 (32:03):
Also it's also whack because you could shove him, you
could hit him in the face, so many other things. Yes,
but the ultimate side of disrespect is the spitting.

Speaker 3 (32:15):
Absolutely absolutely, Like you said, you could have punched them,
shoved them, but instead.

Speaker 2 (32:18):
You went I'd rather be hit in the that area
than to be spit.

Speaker 4 (32:23):
On sure, because it's I think it's degrading. I think
that's the word, and I agree with Jada.

Speaker 2 (32:28):
There's not enough parrel in here as well that would
be able to solve the spit being on you.

Speaker 5 (32:32):
Hey.

what and where they drive ship fast and free back
by free Road has a protection with convenient installation options
like mobile tire installation tyreq dot com the way tire
buying should be. Now Tom for our Tiraq play of
the day, car into the.

Speaker 12 (33:24):
Pain missed the dunk walking fowl. What are you talking about?

Speaker 10 (33:31):
That was two seconds after the planned car driving. He's
outside the circle.

Speaker 12 (33:38):
He's outside the circle and he's set.

Speaker 10 (33:41):
He was outside the circle and he was set. Brett
Smith blew it. He was outside the restricted area. He
was straight up and down.

Speaker 12 (33:51):
He was set like the statue sitting out in front
of New York, New York.

Speaker 10 (33:56):
And they called that.

Speaker 12 (33:58):
That's an absolute horsecrap call.

Speaker 10 (34:03):
In a game that's been played out like this.

Speaker 12 (34:07):
Unbelievable bailout call, fight and confident referee.

Speaker 2 (34:14):
If you didn't know, it was sixteen twenty the zone
and the Creighton radio network on the call. Blue Jays
ended up falling to Baylor yesterday eighty one seventy four.

Speaker 5 (34:23):
Crighton.

Speaker 2 (34:24):
Having a tough time of it today against Iowa State
as well. But that was our Tyract play of the days.

Speaker 10 (34:30):
So good.

Speaker 3 (34:31):
That's all of us at home watching your team. Not
maybe not as eloquently as he put it out there.

Speaker 4 (34:38):
But man, that's all of us.

Speaker 2 (34:40):
It is why hometown announcers are the best. That was
so great, absolutely the best. The game was in Las Vegas,
so apropoul with the New York, New York Statue of
Liberty reference. Oh good, Oh, let's get to a game.

Speaker 6 (34:58):
This is game time on the Dole.

Speaker 5 (35:03):
I know we've had a lot of them, but that's
the best Hirek play of the night.

Speaker 3 (35:09):
In fact, we should only look for plays like that
from now on.

Speaker 4 (35:12):
That was so good. Hilarious.

Speaker 2 (35:15):
Wait a second, Isaac Longcrott is heading to the sidelines.
It's Jason Stewart coming into the game to host game time.
What is going on? Jason, Dan and Mons?

Speaker 7 (35:25):
We got a hum nigga for you today. What's the game?

Speaker 5 (35:29):
Sam? Rank them? All right?

Speaker 7 (35:31):
So I need you to rank the top three items
of the following categories. You guys ready, sure? Dan and
Monzi ranked the top three NFL teams right now as
we speak.

Speaker 5 (35:45):
Go go for it. Dan three, New England? Okay two?
The Rams?

Speaker 4 (35:53):
Who's won?

Speaker 5 (35:54):
The Seattle Seahawks.

Speaker 8 (35:55):
Wow?

Speaker 2 (35:55):
They dominated the Rams And if it wasn't for interceptions
by Sam Donald a little over a week ago, the
Seahawks win that game in Los Angeles. Seahawks are the
best team in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (36:07):
Right now, I would flip one and two.

Speaker 2 (36:11):
I've had the Rams for a while. Yeah, just hit
my knee. I don't know if you could hear that inflection
on the corner of this table. Maybe that was karma.
Maybe it should be the Ram.

Speaker 4 (36:20):
The football God. It's close enough. But I would just wins.

Speaker 5 (36:28):
Yeah, give me Rams two, Patriots three?

Speaker 3 (36:32):
All right, Nanci, I agree, I would just flip one
into I would flip.

Speaker 7 (36:38):
One into Right now, as we stand, ranked the top
three MVP candidate, listen this one.

Speaker 4 (36:45):
Hey joby, what should all right?

Speaker 5 (36:47):
All right?

Speaker 3 (36:48):
Coming in at number three, I'm actually gonna put in
Christian McCaffrey. Christian McCaffrey is top ten in receiving yards
and top ten and rushing yards. I feel like he
should definitely be in the conversation. But who is at
the top of the receiving yards Jackson Smith and jigbaw
And I think if he continues to go on on
the route that he's going on, he definitely has to

(37:10):
be in the discussion of MVP.

Speaker 4 (37:13):
Coming at number one, I think Jonathan Taylor has to
be right now.

Speaker 7 (37:19):
Not a quarterback in the top ten I have.

Speaker 4 (37:22):
I don't have a quarterback.

Speaker 3 (37:24):
If I need a quarterback, it would probably be Matthew Stafford,
but I know I think those three.

Speaker 4 (37:31):
In fact, actually he would come in at number five.
You know who'll be number four, Miles Garrett.

Speaker 5 (37:36):
Yeah, no, the Browns definitely not.

Speaker 3 (37:38):
Because obviously but what he's doing, the sacks and all
of that. But he I would if it was a quarterback,
it would be Matthew Stafford, but I think he would
be in at number five.

Speaker 5 (37:46):
Eighteen sacks is eighteen? Yes, crazy, it is? It is.

Speaker 2 (37:50):
I had on my list that I just jotted down.
I had Stafford one, JSN two and.

Speaker 4 (37:54):
Taylor three and Taylor three.

Speaker 5 (37:56):
Yeah, I can't argue with all of yours.

Speaker 7 (37:57):
All right, Quick round, Quick round, rank your top to
Thanksgiving sides. There's no meat in Moncey's green bean castrole.

Speaker 4 (38:06):
I love green bean castle.

Speaker 3 (38:08):
I could walk away with the entire tray if if
they'd let me.

Speaker 2 (38:13):
I like mashed potatoes. Sure it was a great and
pecan pie.

Speaker 4 (38:20):
I'll throw in mac and cheese instead on pie and
that's game time.

Speaker 10 (38:25):
Tell me.

Speaker 6 (38:30):
This is game time on The Godlief Show.

Speaker 2 (38:34):
There's an HBO documentary coming out tonight. I will tell
you more about it and have some fun with it. Plus,
is it going to be one and done for one
NFL head coach? She's Monty, I'm Dan that's next.

Speaker 4 (38:43):
Yes,
