Speaker 2 (00:08):
Happy Monday to you. Maybe a vacation for a lot
of people. Is the Christmas holidays just a couple of
days away? Merry Christmas? Do you carry rhads?

Speaker 3 (00:16):
Merry Christmas?

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Do you?

Speaker 1 (00:17):
Dan?

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Carrie and I got together yesterday during all the week
sixteen action, and my how things have changed even with
the games happening less than twenty four hours ago, including
this drama in Motown between DK Metcalf and the Detroit
Lions fan Jason Stewart. This year, Iowa Sam hanging out,
as is Isaac lohencrom Have you heard about trainer games? Carrie?

(00:40):
Add this to your binge list. Ten athletes go head
to head for the chance to win an iFIT trainer
contract with two hundred and fifty thousand dollars streaming on
Prime Video starting January eighth. You don't sign up, I'll
watch it. Maybe a little too late right now? You
know who else is fit? Dk Metcalf?

Speaker 3 (00:59):
He is right.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Metcalf really came onto the NFL stage with that side
by side picture of him and aj Brown flexing in
the weight room. Right like that was the emergence of
DK Metcalf, before he ever stepped onto an NFL field,
You then have DK Metcalf. One of the lasting images
of DK Metcalf is chasing down Buddha Baker because he's

(01:20):
running down the sidelines in Arizona as a member of
the Seahawks. The DK Metcalf chases down Buddha Baker, and
we talk about the speed, and we talk about the
hustle and the desire of DK Metcalf. Unfortunately, this year
we've been talking a lot about what's the deal with
DK Metcalf, And now we have quite a deal with
DK Metcalf as he got in the face of a

(01:41):
Lions fan during yesterday's game in Detroit, and now it's
gotten to the point where the fan has hired a lawyer.
NFL insiders are weighing in all from a game that
we should be talking about how the Steelers stole from
the Lions and went into Detroit and grabbed the victory
to ensure you're their tight grasp on the AFC North

(02:02):
that they have right now. But we aren't talking about that.
We're talking about DK and this fan.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
Yeah, no, it was. It was a crazy moment.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
We were we were actually here in the building and
doing some work and watching some of the games, and
I know we were going through a conversation and I
saw it flash in front of my eyes as it
was happening live, and I.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
Was like, oh, that's not good.

Speaker 4 (02:20):
DK Metcalf and then obviously I think the conversation kind
of went along a little further with me and you
and you were like, I think that that fan probably
did something, you know, like if the fan did something,
I can understand it, but not in the not in
DK's actions. Obviously, you don't attack a fan, but these
fans are getting really brash and they're getting a little
bit out of pocket and some of the things they're saying,

(02:42):
and so the fact that there's no live mike in
the area to hear what's what's being said, really I
have to kind of reserve judgment, but I want to
hear what you got, what you think about it day.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Well, I told you yesterday that I thought that if
you're a fan that yells something to a player that
forces them to respond to you, especially during game action,
yeah you're a loser. It is if you have I
understand getting under somebody's skin by saying maybe they went
three for twenty from the field. Yeah, but if you

(03:15):
say something that gets under the skin of a player
and that player responds in a certain way, I think
that you've got to find better things to do as
a fan.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
And see that's my and that's what we disagree, because
there is a moment of me as a player, right,
I've people have said all kinds of things, right, and
it doesn't bother me. But you know, and so I
will say, like, as a player, you can't be sensitive
in those moments or no, obviously I told you you
can't react in those moments. You're trying to win a
big game and you gotta be focused on that. The
next series. What did he do? He came out and

(03:46):
dropped a little simple dig route, right, like you got
to be locked in.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
Now, it depends on what they said.

Speaker 4 (03:52):
What he said thoughing, and there are some circumstances about
around what he said.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
That isn't that isn't clear.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
Now what the fan said was that he said DK
Metcalf's government name. I thought he said as Kyles was small.
Oh he didn't say that. He said DK may have
gone up into the stands if that was the case.
But the fan claims that he was calling him de Kaylin.
It's the Carrius Metcalf, which was his That's what DK

(04:21):
stands for, and that's what DK was upset about. That
was the fans side of things. I don't believe that.
You don't you don't believe that. No, you don't think
that he was just saying that. You know, like when
Russell Westbrook was called west Brick and he stood up
for himself and he stood up for his name, which
I can understand, Like I'm proud of my name. You

(04:44):
should be proud of your name. Russell Westbrook is it's
it's his family name. It's his you know, his family
that he has, his family that came before him. Stand
up for it. I've been known to make silly puns
on names, but ultimately just ingest I I feel like
this was a part of that. So while I say
that if you're a fan, that makes another player respond,

(05:08):
this is a really really low boss, This is a
really really low bar. So I was waiting to hear
more and then we started to hear more. Carry Rhoads
and this is what something just doesn't smell right. This
was Chad Ocho Sinko with Shannon Sharp I'm the Nightcap
talking about the interaction and what Ocho heard was said

(05:29):
to DK Metcalf.

Speaker 5 (05:31):
I got word obviously, I'm knocking, doning, you know, putting
your hands on the fan or punching the fan. But
he did call a racial slurry, called him in word,
and he did call his mama. And I think with
those words be in exchanged and the fans saying that,
I think that's where the action, you know, occurred, where

(05:51):
he threw I think he threw a punch. I'm not
sure if he connected or or whatever. But he did
call him then in word, and he called his mama.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
See word you say the sea word ojo.

Speaker 5 (06:02):
Oh my bad.

Speaker 3 (06:04):
That's bad, yes, bad, terror, It's terrible.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
Okay, is that bad? I can't take any of my femotion.
I actually think like that's like the new number one.
It's right, like like of of you know, I mean, yeah,
but there's none of this was said. I am sorry

(06:28):
there that that did not happen, That relaying of events
did not happen. The fan has actually now gotten representation,
has hired a lawyer and vehemently denies what chad Ocho
Cinco said that the fan said to DK Metcalf, Do

(06:49):
you believe o Cho Sinko or do you believe this
fan who says he never said it.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
I don't believe either one.

Speaker 4 (06:54):
I think there's something in the middle because if he reacted,
if DK reacted the way he react with the fan
quote unquote saying his full name, and he reacted that way,
that doesn't sit well with me. But also on the
other end of that as well, if that fan said
the racial slur and called the mom the other thing,

(07:17):
he would have reacted even bigger than that. And so
if it's somewhere in the middle, and I don't think
we'll ever actually know until they handle this in court.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
Yes, And that's why I think it's now starting to
become a cover up for DK Metcalf, because now you're
hearing all these stories that are coming out. This is
a fan who dressed up in a blue wig, all.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
Right, this is right.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
This is a guy who has fifty yard line seats
as well at Lions games, and you think that he's
going to spend the thousands upon thousands of dollars to
yell these hateful things at players on the opposing bench.
He probably pays the money to call him by his
government name. It's probably what he does. And yesterday when

(07:58):
we were here, I thought, man, that's garbage from the
fan for whatever he said to me. DK Metcalf, and
I am completely Now on the other side, I think
that DK Metcalf and the Steelers and these sources that
are going to NFL insiders are now trying to concoct
this story that this fan said this vicious thing the

(08:19):
DK Metcalf, that DK had to respond in the only
way that he could, and that is to physically throw
a slap, punch, whatever it was, towards the fan because
of how egregious of the things that the fan said.
And when I look at the video and I see
the fans around two seats away, as a boy in

(08:40):
a Santa camp An Alliance Santa caap, his mom is
sitting between him and the fan. I don't know if
they're together. I have no idea. No one responded in
a way where if you were to hear those words
that they claim that he said, everybody is just sitting there.
I guarantee you say that stuff at a football game,
that there are people around that would gladly point out

(09:03):
that fan for sure. And now the NFL machine is
trying to concoct this story that DK Metcalf is not
only a victim because of what was said, that this
fan also said things to him last year when he
was a member of the Seahawks. And I just I
don't think this fan is like, you know what, I
didn't get under his skin enough last year, let me
use some racial slurs and just completely totally insult his mother.

(09:25):
I just don't think that that's not reality. And that's
the thing that now annoys me about this is I
hated that the fan did this, and now I see
how thinn a skin Dk Metcalf has. It's completely bogus
on the Steelers Wade receivers part.

Speaker 3 (09:37):
Damn.

Speaker 4 (09:37):
Just letting you know it right now. You're sitting really
you're sitting like arms length away from me. If you
call me Carrie Dwayne Road, that's a problem. Just so
you understand that. Yeah, Sam Jason, I think guys hear this.
Just make sure you guys are aware. But no, I
mean when you talk about DK, were talking about DK
in it situating Dan I got said for me as
a player and being a former player, like these things happened,

(10:00):
and so the racial slur, whatever the thing is, whatever
happened in that moment, it still doesn't warrant him putting
his hands on him. And so for me, it's just
it's all bogus. And then when you talk about the
Nightcap and you talk about Oto and those guys, like
you can't take Oto series for anything, he says, anyway,
so you just got to kind of, you know, move along.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
I agree, well, I agree to some sense, but there
is a weight in who Ocho Cinco is. He's a
former player and so now in that circles and he
has the platform to do so this is this is crazy.
Jason Stewart, our executive producer. We've also seen this before
at times, but I just I have a tough time

(10:40):
believing that that's actually what was said to DK Metcalf.

Speaker 6 (10:43):
I do too, And maybe as a middle aged white guy,
I shouldn't have an opinion on this, but you would
think after the whole Jesse Smolette thing, hm hmm, combined
with the Miles Garrett thing from twenty nineteen where that
was never even resolved, Like, I can't imagine that Mason
Rudolph said that, and it is still a quarterback in
the NFL. Like, so when you have these allegations, it

(11:07):
does much more harm to the actual real allegations. And
that's that's the problem I have with this. If they're
playing this card, and I think you do leave the
kind of zaniness of Ocho Sinko, like Carry said, he's
not to be taken seriously.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
Maybe this is a thing.

Speaker 6 (11:22):
But I do agree with Dan there somebody is trying
to mitigate the punishment. The Steelers have very important games
coming up to lose DK Metcalf, the punishment will be
less severe if everyone buys this version of the story.

Speaker 4 (11:37):
That's true, non and the other part about it we
don't know, right, Like, think about all the cameras, all
the mics, all the hot mics that are on an
NFL field, right the quarterbacks. The quarterback usually has a
headset or a camera that that that they communicate with
with the coaches and all that stuff. And you didn't
hear about the racist slur from Mason Rudolph never came out.
But with that one being on the sideline, it's just

(11:58):
like the prime spot where there's almost like the blind
spot of audio and media NetSpot.

Speaker 2 (12:03):
How many of your teammates if they heard somebody yelling
those things about you and your family, how many of
your teammates would step up on that response. Yes, there
wasn't one teammate even close. There weren't eight or nine
guys pointing that to him, get him out of here,
or eight guys wanting to climb the wall and take
care of their own business. It's one guy. And the
funny thing is is I I really like Tom Pallisero

(12:28):
of the NFL network. I think that he does a
great job. But he was the one that set out
this tweet that said DK Metcalf had a history with
this fan dating back to last year. That's all adding
to this narrative and the story that it's not DK
Metcalf's fault. If I'm Ryan Kennedy and by the way,
that's the fan's name. If I'm Ryan Kennedy, yeah, I

(12:51):
am hiring a lawyer like it's now it's I mean,
he's bringing a knife to a gunfight. If now the
NFL and the Pittsburgh Steelers and all these other people
are coming at him saying that he's the one that
did wrong. I again, there's a line with fans, I think.
But now you see how the NFL and the Steelers
are trying to spin it. It just it stinks like it.

(13:11):
It's really a bad look and I don't believe a
word of it from from DK Metcalf or any of
the people that want to spread this narrative.

Speaker 4 (13:17):
Yeah, no, I agree with that point. I don't think
that's what was said. And also when I agree with
the fan bringing, you know, hiring a lawyer and lawyering up,
because this is now if he didn't say that, becoming
a defamation thing, right, So he has to do something
to protect himself.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
A source close to Metcalf says the fan called Metcalf's
mom a derogatory word, and that was also what Osho
Sinko said. So this was from Yahoo Sports. So again
they're trying to trying to build a band a little,
spin a little. It's going one hundred and fifty miles
an hour on icy road?

Speaker 3 (13:51):
Icy road? Is it icy? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (13:55):
Crazy? Patriots come back beate the Ravens last night? Who care?
Steelers and Aaron Rodgers somehow survived the Lions in that game? Yeah,
who cares? But this is what we're talking about. He
has Carry Roads. I'm Dan Bayer. That is Jason Stewart
Iowa SAMs here as as a glowing Crown hit carry
up at Kerry twenty five Roads. You can find me

Thought about taking it up at the ripe old age
of forty eight, but never could. It was always moon
boots on the ice when I was a kid. That's
what it was.

Speaker 3 (14:58):
Yeah, can you skate?

Speaker 2 (14:59):
I can't.

Speaker 3 (15:00):
Yeah. I mean I'm not doing any triple That's why
you asked. I want you to. I want you to
set me up.

Speaker 6 (15:05):
Come on, dang.

Speaker 2 (15:06):
The Ravens could not skate by the Patriots last night,
losing to Baltimore, and they also lost quarterback Lamar Jackson
again and ultimately lost season for the Ravens. I don't
know if they really think.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
I know this for a fact.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
The city of Baltimore knows they're not going to win
the AFC North. Maybe the only people who believe that
they still have a chance of the people in that building,
and that is not uncommon. But when Lamar Jackson goes
down now with a back injury, after dealing with his
hamstring injury earlier this season, and after being seemingly limited
when he came back from the hamstring injury, just an
absolutely lost season for the Baltimore Ravens on the heels

(15:44):
of two absolutely epic performances by Lamar in twenty twenty
three in twenty twenty four. And now you wonder what
the future holds because Derrick Henry is Derrick Henry. The
defense is missing a lot of pieces rough times with
the Baltimore Ravens.

Speaker 4 (15:59):
Yeah, this is a very disappointing season. Obviously, come into
the year, I think they were their odds. I would
say they were high on a lot of people's list
of being the representative of the AFC. And then you
come out and you play that first game against Buffalo,
and it looks like that they are that team. And
then that fourth quarter against Buffalo that told the rest

(16:22):
of this season for the Baltimore Ravens. They imploded it
in the fourth quarter. They've been known for having implosions,
even in the years when Lamar was great, and so
to come into a season where him he hasn't played
like the Lamar that we've seen the last couple of years.
Could it be injury, could it be other things?

Speaker 3 (16:40):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (16:41):
I would probably tend to say it's more injury than
anything else because of just recent history. But this team
isn't put together well. Their star players never show up
in the big moments. They always have negative moments in
the big moments. And so when you add all that up,
and then you talk about John Harball, him being the

(17:01):
guy that's leading this group. In my opinion, I never
talk about coaches being fired, but I think for him
this is probably his last run as well, or it
should be. And you got to bring in new blood.
You got to bring in the fresh a different voice
for that locker room. And they still have some players
that can play and be of great service in the league.

(17:22):
But it's going to be it's it's an appill climb.

Speaker 2 (17:23):
I also think you're just gonna see Lamar Jackson be
a different quarterback than he was the first portion of
his career.

Speaker 3 (17:27):
That's just be honest.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
He's not gonna be fast as fast as he was
when he was twenty three and twenty four years old. Like,
there are decisions that the Ravens are going to have
to make. Let's ask a guy who's been in that
chair before one that Eric de coostin the Ravens organization
is going to have to decide. Former NFLGM and the
Chargers and Raiders Tom Telesco joins us here on Fox
Sports Radio. First of all, Tom, welcome in, Glad to
have you, and we'll put you in the hot seat

(17:49):
right away. Like is this a rebuild? Is this a
teardown thing with the Ravens? How do the Ravens get
back to being the Ravens that we know of old?

Speaker 7 (17:57):
Well, thanks for having me on again, and yeah, I'm
used to being in the This is nothing new. This
was a heck of a lot easier than being in
the GM hot speet. But yeah, I was just listening
a little bit before I came on, and I do
prescribe this theory. I think Kearley, what you said, like,
you can't be somewhere for too long as a head
coach as a general manager, sometimes your your boy starts
to not have to have the same impact. But to me,

(18:20):
like John Harbaugh is no worse coach now than he ever.
I mean, he's still a very good coach. You just
don't change overnight. They have a great program there this year,
and it just they got hit by injury so hard
early on this season and they just never recovered from that.
It just seemed like just so many things went wrong
the typically don't go wrong with them, and it's hard

(18:41):
to put your finger on it. I thought they had
one of the best rosters in the league going into
the season, I will say during the year, and he
finally saw some of the last night on offense where
they were spreading the ball around a little more than
just relying on Derrick Henry running the ball and then
throwing it as they flowered out in the slot. So
because they have some players.

Speaker 3 (18:59):
They've got.

Speaker 7 (18:59):
Mark Andrews is a very good tight end, Charlie Colar
got a couple of targets. They don't have a lot
at the outside receiver, you know, Hopkins has towards the end,
and Bateman, you know, there's some games he just doesn't
get a lot of action. They just really complete lands
these flowers. But they did spread around a little bit
more last night. The defenses has been up and down.
A lot of it's just been injury based. But I

(19:19):
just think John Hobba is an excellent head coach. Todd
Munkin is a really good offensive coordinator that has taken
this offense forward. But this year for whatever reason, you know,
and injuries are part of it, not the whole thing,
but they just couldn't not get things going to And.

Speaker 4 (19:33):
That's when you know as a GM and as a
as a former player myself, I mean, you get in
these locker rooms and you know you have talent, and
I think when you think about the Baltimore Ravens, I
just think about them having top end talent. I don't
think they have a super talented roster. I think they
have good top end talent, but I don't think they
have the guys that throughout an NFL season, you know
you're going to have injury, right, and so you have

(19:53):
to prepare for that. And I just don't think that's
the case. And if that is the case, then it
has to be some coaching issues or something that's happening
in the functionality of that team as well.

Speaker 7 (20:02):
Right, Yeah, well, you certainly may be right, and you know,
maybe a lot of us, like myself, when I looked
at the team going to the year, I thought they
were really talented. I thought theyan a little hole on
the interior defensive line end up being probably a bigger
hole than i'd anticipated. But you know, as you put
the team together, everyone's going to have injuries and it
kind of goes up and down. This year they get

(20:23):
hit more than most, but that's when you have to
have other role players step into bigger roles and play
like starters and take off. And they just didn't get
that this year.

Speaker 2 (20:31):
Former NFL GM Tom Telesco joining us here on Fox
Sports Radio. He's the former All Pro Kerry Rhoads. I'm
Dan Byer sitting in on Fox Sports Radio. I'm curious
about the Dolphin situation because they let go of Chris
Greer is their general manager. But then the narrative was
Mike McDaniel's going to be back in twenty twenty six.
Did the Chris, Did the move to Quinn Yours solidify

(20:54):
that McDaniel is going to be around, because I know
it was a rough day at his NFL debut, but
Jack Wilson was passed over as possibly being the as
he was the backup to Tua. Did that move to
yours tell us that Mike McDaniel's going to be back
next year?

Speaker 7 (21:09):
You know, in the month of December when it comes
to head coaches in GM's but certainly head coaches, there's
so much noise out there it's hard to know what's
truthful and what isn't. I like Mike McDaniels. I like
it outside the box thinking. I think he's really did
a great job with his team the second half of
the year, keeping them focused when they were basically out
of it pretty early on. But what I do think

(21:30):
is with the to a decision, if they decide to
move on from him, very similar the way that Broncos
moved down from Russell Wilson, it's going to take up
a big chunk of the salary cap. So the second
part of that has to be your quarterback more than
likely has to be a quarterback on a rookie contractor
or else it's hard to feel the team. You really
can't go out and buy a freeging quarterback to big money,
not that there's one available, so I think, And this

(21:53):
year's draft is a bit thin. So I think part
of this is to see if Quinn yours could be
a guy for next year if we can't find another Courre,
and they got to see what he is, see what
he has. But the fact that he's on a rookie
contract is what really helped salary cap wise, So I
think that was probably a big part of it, to
see what he has in these last couple of games. Yeah,
I mean most ownerships, gms for an offices, you want

(22:15):
to take the whole season, the whole body of work
before you make decisions. I think it's hard to do
that during the season because you're just so emotional week
to week. So let the whole season play out, let
it go from there. And I don't know what's going
to happen there, but they've got a lot of potential
changes on their horizon.

Speaker 4 (22:30):
Tom I want to I want to take you to
back to the NFC, and I want to talk about
the Dallas Cowboys. I know they've they've had some moments
this year. They've been up and down. Obviously, they lose
their top pass rusher where they trade their top pass
rusher and they get some material help and and they
had a moment during the season where it looked pretty
good for them. I'm actually high on what they have
moving forward. But they also have a big decision with

(22:51):
George Pickens upcoming. What what do you if you're at
the GM, would you give him what he wanted or
how would you handle that situation? Knowing that they need
a few more things as well to make this thing
get to where they want.

Speaker 3 (23:02):
To ultimately go.

Speaker 7 (23:03):
Yeah, that is the million dollar, million dollar question going
into the offseason because I love their offense, and their
offenses they scored a ton of points this year and
that's what they relied on because the defense just didn't
quite keep up.

Speaker 1 (23:17):
Uh.

Speaker 7 (23:18):
But part of that offense was George Pickens, and George
Pickens has an outstanding year. But is this the type
of player that you want to give a long term
investment to. It's hard you know, looking from the outside,
obviously the Steelers decided that they're going to go a
different direction that wasn't wasn't for them the Cowboys. The
one thing that the Cowboys have that none of us
have is they see him every day in the buildings,

(23:40):
So they have a you know, hopefully a pretty good
evaluation of the person that they want to invest in,
because they've already invested in Ceedee Lamb. That paid Jake Ferguson,
you know, not nic City Lamb type money, but you know,
decent money for a tight end. You know, they have
Dak Presscat's contract, They have a pretty high paid offensive line,
so you have to decide where the money goes. They
need more help on defense, There's no question about that.

(24:02):
George Pickens is a dynamic player. But these are the
tough the tough decisions is this is what gams get
paid for. It's just the guy that you want to
invest that much money in. For me, since I have
CD Lamb, I have Jake Ferguson, I have Dak Prescott,
I probably would use that money other places, either offensive
line or defense moving forward, But again we'll kind of
see where that fits.

Speaker 2 (24:23):
In Tom's Alesco joining us here on Fox Sports Radio
former GM of the Raiders and Chargers. I understand we're
all kind of in the same boat. Maybe we haven't
been paying attention to Jacksonville as much as we should,
but yesterday was a perfect opportunity, late window, going up
against the Denver Broncos, hottest team in the National Football League.
They go in and dominate that game. Is it just

(24:44):
Liam Cohen or how did things turn around so much
for Jacksonville in a span of one year? O?

Speaker 7 (24:50):
Hey, I'm like you. When I saw them in September
and October, I just wasn't quite a believer yet. And
then against the Charge at one, seven out of last
eight games are all lost to Jacksonville, and Jacksonville blew
them out. And I know the Charges are a good team,
so I'm a believer now. And then we see yesterday
to going to Denver, which is one of the hardest
places to play, and play the way they did it

(25:11):
was just really impressive. And I mean this team, they
have talent there and Liam Cohne is pressing all the
right buttons, and I love the fact that Trevor Lawrence
is really playing at consistent level of football, really decisive
in his decision making. Trevory ten is an excellent running back.
They kind of had a loan in his career, you know,
for a year or two, and he's back to where
he was as a really as a rookie. And then

(25:34):
the Jacoby Myers trade was outstanding and really shrewd move.
And I could see that coming a little bit just
with Edgar Bennett being their receiver coach at Jacksonville. He
was a receiver coach with the Raiders when Jacoby Myers
was there, so there's a familiarity between the two. And
then watching Parker Washington yesterday, I mean, this guy's a stud,
and you know, it was hard for them to lose

(25:54):
Travis Hunter, which was a you know, they put a
lot of accets into Travis Center to draft them. But
the benefit and the positive is this Parker Washington now
gets a lot more snaps and a lot more targets
and he can really play. So their offensive talented. Their
offensive line is very good, and I mean that was
an impressive win, as you're gonna see yesterday against Denver.

Speaker 2 (26:12):
That's the surprising part of me is and this is
no disrespect to Travis Hunter, but they got very little
out of Travis Hunter, especially considering they gave up a
first round pick next year for him. It seems like
it's they've even done better in spite of that. Like
imagine if their second overall pick it would have worked out.
It could have been maybe even better for Jacksonville.

Speaker 7 (26:32):
Yeah, that's the problem when a player like Kid gets
hurt is you have two DS facility, you got a
phill corner, and he got a full receiver. He has
not easy, especially at that level of talent. But you know,
they they made the trade for Newsom from from Cleveland,
and obviously they traded campbellfore him. But they've been able
to survive and on defensive corner out having Travis Hunter.
But I just think, you know, getting Parker Washington involved

(26:54):
Boar is a benefit. Jacoby Myers is so consistent that
we're out running in hands. And then Brian Thomas, I
know it hasn't had the year usually has. He's still
a dynamic threat. So they've got a lot of a
lot of pieces on offense.

Speaker 3 (27:04):
Hey, Tom and Dan, you know what this you know
what this signifies. I'm glad.

Speaker 4 (27:07):
I'm glad you brought up the Travis Hunter thing, Dan
Is because the Park of Washington. He gets his chance
to do what he's done his whole life right where
Travis Hunter. I think with this dogs for Jacksonville, it
solidifies him as their corner moving forward, and you do
like a package of him on the offense but not
trying to do both ways.

Speaker 7 (27:23):
In my opinion, Yeah, this could change moving forward, I think,
and we'll see how it plays out. I mean, Travis
is a dynamic athlete, yep. But when you're you know,
six foot one hundred and eighty five pounds playing both
ways in the NFL for you know, one hundred plus,
that's the game over eighteen weeks, that's just really physically
taxing and you may not reach your ceiling at either

(27:43):
position by doing that. So you know, this could lead
them a different direction. I don't know, We'll see. This
is you know, question for next year. We'll talk about
by all summer. But they have a lot of talent
on the offensive side of the ball, and you know,
this is when when players get hurt, other other players
get an opportunity to step up. And that's a Park
at Washington is done.

Speaker 2 (28:01):
It won't be the last time this season we'll be
talking about the Jaguars, and when we do, we will
not call that me small market team. Leam Cohen made sure, Yeah,
made sure. Sean Baiton dow that Tom. We appreciate the time.
Happy Holiday's Mary Christmas. Talk to you again soon here
on Fox Sports Radio. Thanks so much going Tom.

Speaker 7 (28:17):

Fourth and goal for the Lions from the nine ballgame
on the line right here.

Speaker 3 (29:41):
They need the end zone for the win.

Speaker 2 (29:43):
Jared leans in.

Speaker 8 (29:44):
There's the snap on fourth down, Jared bat Jared stepping up,
Jared Lookie.

Speaker 2 (29:48):
Throwing end zone.

Speaker 8 (29:49):
It is caught by Amen ra shy of the end zone.
He flipped it back to Gough who docked it to
the end zone for the touchdowns.

Speaker 3 (29:58):
There's a flat in figs. Did they rule him down?
Are they gonna say.

Speaker 8 (30:04):
Pass interference against Dom and Raw? There's no time left
on the clock. Here comes Carl Scheffers. The officials have
finally broken. We're gonna get the call right here. Is
this game over or not?

Speaker 3 (30:14):
Pittsburgh's staying on the field. They're really on the field.
Is a touchdown?

Speaker 9 (30:17):
However, runs interferit number fourteen on the offense my rule
that penalty is is not enforced and there is no replay.
The game is over.

Speaker 3 (30:29):
Wow, there is no touchdown OPI or number fourteen. Thegatest
the penalty. There is no replay. The game is over.

Speaker 2 (30:39):
There is no score.

Speaker 7 (30:41):
There is no score.

Speaker 2 (30:43):
Oh my goodness, that's said a lot of Giants games.
A one O two point five WDVI Steelers Radio network,
they were just as confused as we were watching the
final plays. The Steelers leave Detroit with a twenty nine
to twenty four victory. Absolute chaos. This just a few
plays after the Lions had the go ahead touchdown wiped

(31:03):
out for another offensive pass interference. But a crazy ending
and the Steelers end up getting the win. You know,
the only thing I'm worried about right there, or I
would have been mad about, is his initial comment was
it's a touchdown.

Speaker 3 (31:15):
On the play.

Speaker 4 (31:16):
The whole crowd goes and saying, uh yeah, but yeah,
as no PI as well.

Speaker 3 (31:23):
It's that was insane.

Speaker 2 (31:23):
You know what, I don't know if you guys like this,
do you guys like pizzazz from your home played umpires?
Jason Stewart, you're a you're a baseball fan, a little
a little behind home played or first base with the
ring them up.

Speaker 6 (31:34):
I think, especially in baseball, if it's a close play,
if it's a banger, I need you to sell it.
You need to be have conviction, sell it absolutely.

Speaker 2 (31:44):
And I think we need that in the NFL. I
think we need refs being heels, playing the villain, playcating
towards the crowd. I would love that. I think it
would be magnificent television. And I just I mean, he
already think that they favor the better teams, which they don't,
but why not just lean into like the drama of it,

(32:07):
the play is a touchdown, to your point, is magnificent.
He did it all with his straight face, knowing exactly
that was Carl Cheffer's I believe, say you know the
name and everything, Yes, yes, very straight laced guy. Alan
Eck is a newer official. I believe he's one of
my favorites. I don't know why. He's just like a
guy that means business. But I think you need to

(32:28):
lean in more.

Speaker 3 (32:29):
Who would be your greatest heel, greatest rep as a
heel in your mind? Right now?

Speaker 4 (32:34):
Just think about all the Relfs in the past. I
got one that fits the bill, but I don't know
if he's that okay, but yeah, give me one.

Speaker 2 (32:41):
Jerry mark Bright is a one from I think Isaac
knows who I'm talking about. Like he was the one
who would He was very He wasn't Ed Hocky Lee.
I'm sorry, come on, I just I just I just
don't carry his answer. Who's yours carry? This was what happened,
and he always kind of had loose sort of voice.

(33:03):
The offensive player did not touch the ball and exact yes,
and now Sean hockyy his son is the red cash
In was a was another one. And do we have
a do you have any giving him the business?

Speaker 3 (33:17):
Do we have any of?

Speaker 6 (33:19):
Like?

Speaker 2 (33:19):
This is what the NFL needs more.

Speaker 3 (33:20):
Of sixty nine offense.

Speaker 2 (33:25):
He was giving him the business that we need more
of that. He was giving him the business that it's
so great. You know what else? Actually we need more of.
This may be crazy, but it's too late for it.
We needed more. Aaron Rodgers in Pittsburgh. What a perfect marriage.
The Steelers aren't going to win the super Bowl. But
for everybody who says super Bowl or bust, that's wrong.

(33:47):
I'm not the biggest Aaron Rodgers fan. I know you
have a personal relationship with Aaron Rodgers. To see Aaron
Rodgers play the way that he has to wait, to
see the way that the Steelers have responded, the dynamic
of yesterday, watching ros Mike Tomlin and Cameron Hayward walking
off the field together after that victory. This has been
a rousing success Aaron Rodgers in Pittsburgh. And it's a

(34:10):
shame that he had to take two years to play
in New York because this probably should have happened in
Pittsburgh two years ago.

Speaker 4 (34:16):
Oh, Dan, if it happened two years ago and pitts
well minus the injury, Yeah yeah, you know, but man,
it'd been fun.

Speaker 2 (34:24):
You would have been playing on a crappy field service.
That's not that it's great in Pittsburgh anyway, but hey,
it would have been at least a grass service to that.

Speaker 4 (34:31):
No, it's been fun, Dan, I mean to see him
the last couple of weeks, actually, I mean, he's been invested.

Speaker 3 (34:36):
You can see it.

Speaker 4 (34:37):
But he's literally invested on getting him to the playoffs
and making a run, and you can see it's it's
kind of permeating from him and the team.

Speaker 2 (34:43):
Do you root for him?

Speaker 7 (34:45):
I do?

Speaker 6 (34:46):
I do?

Speaker 4 (34:46):
Yeah, I mean for him. I mean we came in
the same year. I've known him personally obviously, you know that.
And for him to have sort of sort of a
bounce back year. It hasn't been pretty the whole season,
but like you said, it just fits completely, just absolute success.
Jason Stewart's a big fan of Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 3 (35:05):
I very much root for him. Yeah, I do. Oh
you do? Yeah, I definitely do.

Speaker 2 (35:09):
But like this season couldn't have gone any any better.
They're like they're on the verge of winning the AFC North.
They're gonna host a home playoff game and they may
they may win that game. They're not gonna win three
in a row in the postseason.

Speaker 6 (35:21):
But and he has impacted wins. Yeah, I think I
remember it was a Peyton Manning with the Super Bowl
Broncos team that he was the quarterback of a really
good team. Yep, but he wasn't really impacting wins. I
think he could say Aaron Rodgers has all season. Yes,
I agree with that.

Speaker 2 (35:38):
The the Mike Tomland criticism of him always trying to
keep the team, I think is is fair. And if
you're a Steelers fan, you're like, all right, how many
more ten and seven, nine and eight seasons can we
go through? However, Rodgers has injected new blood, even though
he's an old guy into the Steelers, and it is
a different feel about that team. It may be the

(35:59):
same old Steelers, but I don't think it's the same
old Steelers.

Speaker 3 (36:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (36:01):
No, I mean he's forty three years old. Dan, it
just takes a little time to warm up. That's all right,
tell me about it. We're fifty three minutes in and
I'm still having still Yeah.

Speaker 7 (36:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (36:11):
Hey, have you heard about trainer games? Add this to
your binge list. Ten athletes go head to head for
the chance to win an iFIT trainer contract with two
hundred and fifty thousand dollars streaming on Prime Video starting
January eighth. And basically, the AFC North is theirs. They're
going to get a home game, and if whatever wild
card team goes to Pittsburgh, it should be a formidable opponent.

(36:34):
But going up against Aaron Rodgers in a playoff game
in that setting would be a tougher task than maybe
other people would have won it.

Speaker 4 (36:41):
One hundred percent, whoever comes in to that stadium at
that time in the playoffs is going to be in
for a battle.

Speaker 2 (36:47):
We had a fights on Friday, We had a College
Football Playoffs simorgasboard on Saturday, and we had a crazy
day of the NFL on Sunday. What did you love?

Speaker 3 (36:57):
What did you hate?

Speaker 2 (36:57):
He's carry I'm Dan. That's next on Fox
