Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Happy Wednesday at a Merry Christmas.
Speaker 3 (00:06):
Eve, Merry Christmas Eve.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
The countdown is on Sanna getting the sleigh ready to go.
Presents everywhere. Although throughout my Christmas experience one I'm oh
for one with my son, he needed to open a
present day. I guess Seahawks pens were not on his list?
Speaker 3 (00:28):
Is that that wasn't for you? Did you not wrap
yourself a gift?
Speaker 2 (00:32):
I'm trying so hard to make this kid a Seahawks fan,
and I think he's just doing it to just to
spite me. He's now telling me, uh yay rams boo Seahawks,
having no idea on how big a rivalries they are,
arrivals they are. He just likes it because the ram is,
in his words, a farm animal. Sure whatever, that's fine,
(00:53):
and it's got horns either head.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
I get it.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
So Christmas is off. We're all for one.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
No heart wants what it wants.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
If we can bat five hundred on Christmas gifts, we'll
be doing well. She is Monty Blanios, I'm Dan Byer.
It is Fox Sports Radio. Have you heard about trainer games, Monzi?
Speaker 3 (01:08):
No, tell me about it?
Speaker 2 (01:09):
This year Binge list ten athletes go ahead to head
for the chance to win an iFIT trainer contract with
two hundred and fifty thousand dollars Trainer Games on Prime Video.
January eighth. Watched the trailer on trainer games dot Com.
What a night it was last night in the NBA,
the NBA on NBC. And we are not talking about
your clippers a victory against Rows. We are not talking
(01:36):
about that at all. We're talking about the Dallas Mavericks
and Cooper Flagg surviving the Denver Nuggets getting a big
win for Dallas. And now Cooper Flag is nineteen moncey.
He is a new man at nineteen years of age.
Cooper Flagg is coming into his own even joking last
night that he has he's missed like one or two.
(01:56):
It's actually two threes since he turned twenty, since he
turned nineteen. Over the but Cooper Flag has been on
a tear. The Mavericks are the first fifteen games of
the season, we're four and eleven. Cooper Flag was averaging
fifteen and a half points per contest, six rebounds per
game in three assists per game. Now Cooper Flag over
the next fifteen games averaging almost twenty three points per game,
(02:21):
six and a half rebounds per contest, and he's up
the assist numbers to four and a half dimes per contest.
And so now we are at the point where the
number one overall pick maybe not a generational talent like
Victor Wembin Yama, but I think very very few are.
Like when you talk about the Victor Webbin Yama like
it is, it's like Louel Sinder, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Lebron James,
(02:45):
and Victor Webber Yama right outliers like completely like wembin Yama.
Lebron and Kareem were so like. I think I can
put Tim Duncan in that conversation as well. But Cooper
Flag went not rise to the level of that yet. However,
he would be on the level below because of how
(03:05):
young he is. And monci for what is transpired in
the first thirty games of this season to see the
quick turnaround from Cooper Flag to see he should be
a freshman in college right now, like truly he reclassified.
He went to the NBA draft early, or went to
Duke early so he could go to the NBA draft early.
It's why he's nineteen years old. Cooper Flag right now
(03:28):
for the Dallas Mavericks, the way that he is playing,
I think needs to be an NBA All Star Oo.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
I mean, okay, watching Cooper Flag from the first couple
of games to now, it's crazy to see how good
his footing has become. Because I think we all expected
him to be good, or everyone hoped he would be good.
And everybody in a way is rooting for the Mavericks
and Cooper Flag because of Whitney Goo Harrison did We'll
never forget, so we're all kind of rooting for him.
(03:56):
But he did not look the way he did thirty
games ago. Would crazy to say the jump. He has
been really good and I hear what you're saying that
he should be an All Star because we've talked about
the All Star Game in the past, Dan that it's
like what's missing from it, And every year there are
players who are not in it who should be in it,
(04:17):
whether they don't get in because their team record is
not good or because there are other players who are
slightly better. He is really good, but I don't know
does he actually move the needle like that?
Speaker 2 (04:29):
I think that he has the ability, Yes, really, yes,
I do. I really think that that he does. I
think that the situation that he's in with the Mavericks
is it's a little unfortunate because you're still trying to
follow Luka Doncic's shadow. That's true, and there's also Listen,
there's also a contingent that would say, what are you
(04:50):
talking about, Dan, He's not even the best He's not
even the best rookie in the NBA that just came
into the draft from Duke Conkappel for Mishelon Hornet has
been magnificent, but for his great as kan Kaneppl has been,
He's not Cooper Flag And I do think that Cooper
Flagg does carry this aura with him and at nineteen
(05:13):
years old, when he was when he was eighteen years old,
and he was seventeen years old playing against the US
men's national team, they would say on how different of
a player he was, and so it took him fifteen
games to kind of get acclimated. But if I'm watching
the NBA All Star Game, which is going under a
completely different format again this year, hmm, it's also going
(05:33):
to be on earlier in the day, did you know
that that it's it's not going to be a primetime broadcast.
It'll be five Eastern, two Pacific. They'll took it off from.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
Me if watching.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
It's a package deal with NBC, so the NBC will
have their Olympics and then the Olympics will move into
the to the All Star Game. But you've got the
US against the World. There's going to be two American teams,
one team of international players. They'll play a round robin
of three games and then the final quarter will be
the championship game. But you have sixteen American players, sixteen
(06:02):
American players that are going to be named to the
NBA All Star list. And there are some right off
the bat that you're like, Okay, no brainer, right, Tyrese Maxey,
Donovan Mitchell. Those guys are going to be All Stars,
are going to be a part of this game. But
when we start getting down to the lower list, and
we know Lebron didn't want to play last year, so
maybe Lebron shouldn't even be a part of it this year.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
That's cute that you think he's not going to participate,
Well just say that's cute. Of course he's going to
be there.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
He may be there and then not playing.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
Not play, which is he took Norman Powell's spot. Whatever.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
Okay, Norman Powell has a great case.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
To maybe if you have a yes in Miami MVP this.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
Year, but you need to have Cooper Flag in this
All Star Game because I do think that he moves
the needle. I think he is one of the next
superstars in the NBA. And one of the problems with
the NBA that I that I think is Lebron and
some of the older heads just never leaving, so there's
(06:58):
not an opportunity for somebody else to take over the
league themselves. Now, maybe Wemby will do it. I don't
know if SGA is doing it, but I think Wemby
would have more of the opportunity to do so. But
I think that Cooper Flagg could be as part of
that conversation and this allows that growth, This begins that growth,
this continues that growth growth, and I would want to
(07:20):
see Cooper Flagg against the best players from the international
team against the other American team. I think that's good
TV and ultimately that's what the NBA wants. So that's
why I just think for all those reasons, Manzi that
he needs to be an All Star And I'm sorry
for some of the players that aren't going to make
the cut, but it's more important for Cooper Flag to
(07:41):
be an All Star than some of those other guys.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
We've literally seen the NBA fail at putting what people
want to watch in front of us. They have not
done the logical decisions that we have maybe discussed over
the years. And so if it was him or Orknippal,
you would say both, or you would say.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
Just say Cooper Flag.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
Just Cooper Flag, because you know, the Mavericks are eleventh
in the Western Conference and so it's like, but they
are looking better, and it's like I would not be
I would not be mad at all if he's in it.
I'm just really wondering, like maybe he does move the needle,
but like, does anyone truly care about the All starium?
Are people going to tune in? And yeah, maybe he
should at least participate in some way. He's got to
(08:23):
be there. He's got to be one of the reasons.
But I just don't know who would he snub. And
that's the question, who would he snub?
Speaker 2 (08:30):
So this is with the new format the way it
is if you.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
Propel it right, or is it still Eastern West.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
You'll be voted. They'll be voted in East and West
they will be Okay, Now, what they're hoping twenty four
players in all and this is the other. This is
the tricky thing about the NBA. It's just confusing for
people to understand the format. Twelve starters or twelve players
will be named from the East, twelve players will be
named from the West. Those are your twenty four all Stars.
(08:58):
Their fingers are crossed that it's sixteen American players and
eight international players.
Speaker 3 (09:02):
You know it's not going to be so you know
they're going to manipulators and they're going to do what
they want correct exactly.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
So now we get into the equation of manipulation, correct,
not earning, not just popularity, which I think Cooper Flag,
by the way, because of his popularity, could be one
of those players voted in. This is what I think
is important is that there is a ninth international player
that may get snubbed under this current. That's the real
(09:30):
snub not the fifteenth or sixteenth best American player that
would sit out because of Cooper Flag. It's the international,
which Cooper Flag has nothing to do about. So the
format is already kind of silly, right, they're trying to
make us watch, They're trying to make us USA against
the world. It's a tie in with the Olympic, with
the Winter Olympics that are going on. There's even going
to be programming. I think Team USA plays hockey prior
(09:52):
on NBC to the All Star Game. All of this
is contrived, So why not rig it? Were most popular
star gets into the most marquee event outside of your playoffs?
Speaker 3 (10:06):
Yeah, no, I think I think you. You make a
lot of good points. I just really don't know if
I can trust the NBA to make their smart decision.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
Let's be real. Manzi just feels bad for brandon Ingram
and Norman Powell, Right, Okay, those are the guys. Those
are the guys that we are talking about. Yeah, be
on the cutting room.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
Floor on the French who have not been there. Brandon
Ingram and what he's doing with the Toronto Raptors, no
one expected that. No one expected that. Did you have
the Raptors being third in the Eastern Conference?
Speaker 2 (10:37):
No, not even a little bit.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
Not even a little bit. And also, yeah, like the
heater in it, but the heater always in it. I yes,
maybe I do have a soft spot for other players.
I just have seen the NBA fail in the past
of making the smart, logical decision, and I'm wondering if
they're gonna, if they're actually gonna put him in when
he should be, even if he doesn't, put him in,
even if he doesn't deserve it. That's what you're saying, Yes,
(11:00):
put him in, even if he doesn't deserve If.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
It's close, he's in. He gets the benefit of the doubt.
It's more beneficial for the league to have him. Yes.
Why do you think Nuggets Mavericks was on NBC last night? No?
Speaker 1 (11:12):
Right?
Speaker 3 (11:13):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (11:13):
Right? Like I mean it wasn't just because of Jokic.
Speaker 3 (11:16):
No, definitely or Anthony Davis. Yes, yes, it was because
of him.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
Yes, So Rockets Clippers ends up following you can. It's
Kevin Durant and Rockets are really good, the.
Speaker 4 (11:27):
Coopers stinky Clippers.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
But it's James Harden and Kawhi Leonard. And that's right
back to the fact. Here's the here's the good thing
for those in the camp with me that agree that
Cooper Flag should be an All Star. The course that
he is setting, and what if he does this over
the next fifteen games before that All Star Game. I
think he could make the case for himself that he
(11:51):
deserves to be there. But if it comes down to
the point where it's borderline and he continues this sort
of play, he has to he has to be in.
He was the talk of the town last night, He's
been the talk of the town over the last couple
of weeks. And that's what the the NBA is doing
really well. But you need Cooper Flagg, who may not
(12:12):
be that generational, super generational Wemby because of how much
of a freak Wemby is, but still he is up
there of the years that you wanted to win the
NBA Draft lottery.
Speaker 3 (12:23):
Yeah yeah, I mean, listen, you're making all the right points.
You're making all the right points, and I hope, I
hope they do put him in. But I'm gonna sit here,
and when they put him in, I'm gonna tell you
of the ones who got snubbed, don't we see, because
these guys should have made it. There's always a few.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
It's different when Lebron's been there.
Speaker 3 (12:40):
Know Lebron should not be in it.
Speaker 2 (12:41):
No, but like last year, so Norman Powell gets basically
snubbed because Lebron is in and then he backs out
of the game. And that's yeah, correct, that really stinks.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
Absolutely, Lebron should not be in it. He's just there
right now already. Hey, guys, thank you. You can give
me an honorable, you know, mention. But he should not
be in it. He should not even be considered and
you should take himself out of it.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
Correct.
Speaker 3 (13:03):
Yes, I'm with you. I totally agree with that. I
totally agree. No, I think I think you're convincing me. Yeah, No,
Cooper Flax should be in it because if anybody, I
really was wondering if he moved the needle. But maybe
because of the whole situation where like there's all these
unks in the NBA that we're still following, right like
all the old guys, that's what we're tuning in. So
I'm wondering, does he move the needle? But maybe you're right,
(13:24):
maybe he does.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
I think that there is a generation of players. This
happened in the NFL with quarterbacks and the probably quarterbacks
that were drafted fifteen years ago. Talking about the Russell Wilson's,
the Cam Newton's, the Andrew Lux guys that were thought
to carry the torch from Brady and Breeze and Philip Rivers,
but that just never came to fruition. So now I
(13:47):
kind of jumped, and now it's oh, Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen,
Lamar Jackson, those, yeah, those are the guys. I think
It's kind of that way in the NBA. Yes, I
think so with Steph and Lebron and Kevin Durant staying
around as long as they have the other that that
next generation of players kipped. Yeah, yeah, and so now
(14:08):
it's going to be And I actually think that the
NBA players are better than the product of the NFL
quarterbacks that were in that generation. But I mean there
was a point where we thought that Giannis and Nicola
jokicchen Yokich may still be the best player in the
NBA right now, but like those are days now in
the past. Now it's these other young guys that are
moving up, Like Anthony Edwards for as great as he is,
for Jason Tatum, for right, you know, as great, it's
(14:31):
like it's already past their time for them to take
over and be the NBA.
Speaker 3 (14:36):
I never I never even thought of that. I mean,
you're so right. There was like a generation that was
skipped and only a few came out of that, Nicola
Jokic being one of them. Right, all the other ones
are just kind of like, yeah, they were good, but
we definitely skipped them over. And now it seems like
Cooper frag can be the start of the ones taking
over the torch.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
Yeah, I think I love that, and and I think
that two players. I think that Luca and I think
that Kate Cunningham could have toggled on both sides. Yes,
but now though maybe with the younger.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
Because they are still I still look at them as younger,
even though like we've seen Luca what now seven years
eight years? Yeah, but I still look at him as
a younger generation.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
Yes, I did too, all right, She's wat, I'm Dan Bayer.
He does he needs to be an all star.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
He does need to be an All Star. But I'm
more like with the thing of like this giving the generation.
I never thought of it like that, but that makes
perfect sense.
Speaker 2 (15:26):
He also may single handedly bring back the crappy mustache
look because that thing, oh my goodness, like that is
that is such a nineteen year old mustache.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
It shows his age.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
Yeah right, it is struggling. So Hopefully the mustache and
goateee can take off the next fifteen games like this
game has. But otherwise maybe they should just that that
should be a thing at Mavericks games.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
Him and Paul Skeins.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
He's brought back the T shirt. Yeah right, but Skemes
is no.
Speaker 3 (15:57):
Skeins is also just there.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
I thought more planned. Cooper Flags brought back the T
shirt underneath. Yes, yes, he has jersey other players would
wear like the the.
Speaker 3 (16:09):
More compression yes, yes, and he's wearing like a T
shirt like literally yeah, because Anthony Davis wars like the
compression shirt under.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
Changing the game. Yeah, oh man.
Speaker 3 (16:19):
But he's like the young guy and he's acting like
the old guy with that T.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
Shirt and then mustache and he's only nineteen in five days.
Did you pick Duke to win it all last year
in the bracket? Do you remember?
Speaker 3 (16:34):
I think I did okay, and they were knocked.
Speaker 2 (16:36):
Out in the National seventh final by by the Houston Cougars.
I went back and forth and I was like, oh,
I'm gonna pick Florida. I'm gonna pick Florida, and then
I think I ended up ultimately picking Duke. Anyway, it
brings me to this point. Feeding off the success of

Speaker 2 (18:45):
You know, no other Christmas except Christmas in la Is, Like,
do you know any other have you ever had Christmas?
Anywhere else.
Speaker 3 (18:52):
Yeah, I've had it Christmas in Costa Rica. Okay, does
that count? It's really and muggy and warm and sticky.
This is the most Christmas I spent December in New York,
not just this past year, but like, you know, I've
seen a wintery December. Yes, I've spent Christmas in Italy.
I saw the Pope say, like, what is he? Merry
(19:14):
Christmas in all the languages. Yeah, I was there for Christmas.
But like on this might be the most hold Christmas
in LA that I've experienced. Sure you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
Yeah, it's not the same. Like if you've experienced Christmas
in snow or grew up in snow, Yeah, there's nothing
that will ever match it. Yeah, I just for people
that have transferred, well, it's you shouldn't be jealous because
the people like me and for as much as for
it's just different. Trying to figure out the way to
(19:47):
put this so I don't back myself into a corner.
It's different when there's a white Christmas. And sometimes of
course in upstate New York in the Upper Midwest, there
isn't snow, but a lot of places are getting snow.
So at least you have it for the Christmas and
it's got that sort of feel.
Speaker 3 (20:02):
Yeah, you know, I want to go do a snow angel.
I never got to do that.
Speaker 2 (20:06):
Oh it's still time. There's still time to go somewhere. Yeah,
he travel. Just do you do it in the mountains
out here in southern.
Speaker 3 (20:12):
California because snow is like hard.
Speaker 2 (20:14):
You could do it, is speaking of your European vacations.
You could do it in Milan.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
In Milan, yes, yes, the road.
Speaker 2 (20:22):
To Milan runs through Saint Louis. If you didn't know that, Yes,
see Ilia Mallan in Alyssa lou and Amber Glenn compete
at the twenty twenty sixth Priviage in US Figure Skating
Championships January seventh through the eleventh, but be there as
the twenty twenty sixth US Olympic Figure Skating team is
named Live tickets at US figure Skating dot org. So
that's coming up in a couple of weeks with the
(20:43):
Winter Olympics, then in Milan coming up in early February.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
Figure skating is something I just I'm so impressed by.
Speaker 2 (20:51):
I feel like I've seen Philip Rivers do a snow
angel like you I don't know that, maybe misremembering something,
but I feel like I have and we got good
news today. That's right, Philip Rivers is going to start
in week seventeen. Even with the Indianapolis Colts having a
two to three percent chance of making the postseason, there
is not going to be a transition. And I know,
(21:13):
well you well you were, well you were while you were,
while you were, while you were, while you were, while
you were, while you I was just going along with
the yeses while you were in Las Vegas. I could
have said you were Quenne, Well, you were in Vegas. Yesterday,
we spent half the show just wanting Philip Rivers to
play one more game. I know they're zero and two,
(21:36):
but we were so afraid that Riley Leonard would get
the reins because of how slim of a chance the
Colts have to make the postseason. And now we know
that Philip Rivers is going to play again, there is
going to be no twenty twenty six. There's just there's
not going to be. So at least we know we
can enjoy this for at least another week. They've got
(21:57):
Jacksonville coming to town. If they lose that, then maybe
it'll be a different decision. I just didn't want the
Philip Rivers experience to end after nine days.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
It didn't need to end, you know, Like I think
if it would have been bad, it would have ended.
But in reality, it has not been bad. Even against
the forty nine ers putting up what twenty seven points
like that's not an easy thing for a quarterback to do.
We've seen the young quarterback struggle and not put up
points they were in and against the Seahawks until the
(22:26):
very end. It's been fun to watch and I'm glad
it's happening one more game and I hope it happens
another game. Are we so one hundred percent though that
he will not be back in twenty twenty six?
Speaker 2 (22:38):
Yeah, I don't think that there's any reason I think
that this is This is a nice pocket, This is
a nice window think of everything that he would need
to do to get himself ready.
Speaker 3 (22:47):
But what if he doesn't want to not to be
a starter, but to position himself where he can help
a team out again.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
As a backup. Yeah, I just don't know if that's
who Philip Rivers is. I think that, I mean, he's
he's a coach, but he's a coach to high school kids.
I don't see him spending time away from his family
to help a young quarterback with the Indianapolis Colts. Like
(23:18):
the only reason he came back was because the and
he was going to play. They weren't like, we need depth,
we'd like you to back up Riley Leonard. That wasn't
the deal at all. It was came came in, knew
the offense. We need to win these games. And they
were really big games. The Seattle game so close, yes,
and they put up twenty seven against the Niners. The defense, Now,
(23:40):
he did throw a pick six in that contest, but
the defense did not stop Rockberdy, who threw five touchdowns
at all. So there's been success. I just don't think
that he wouldn't be able to play all season long
in the shape that he's in as well now think
he wants to.
Speaker 3 (23:55):
I just feel like there was an itch and he
has scratched it. But what if he's not done scratching it,
and then it's just kind of like keep the door open, like,
don't close it completely. At this point, your Hall of
Fame clock has restarted, so there's no rush for you.
And I don't think he wants to do it the
entire year. But if I'm Philip Rivers, I'm going to
(24:15):
keep myself available.
Speaker 2 (24:19):
Bo Benson is more on your side. Bo is our
executive producer. What would you put the chances of Philip
Rivers being back in twenty twenty six in some sort
of role at uh fort?
Speaker 3 (24:30):
Okay, well that's even higher than I think.
Speaker 7 (24:33):
He's just got a taste of it again. And right
if he's coming in as a backup, it's different than
coming in as the starter. And if you're the Colts,
are you really all that comfortable going into next year
with Riley Leonard is your starting quarterback?
Speaker 3 (24:44):
It doesn't seem like they are.
Speaker 7 (24:45):
And you've already mortgaged your future, so you can't go
get a quarterback.
Speaker 3 (24:48):
That's here another part of it, dah.
Speaker 7 (24:51):
So what's the better option if you're the Colts?
Speaker 2 (24:54):
I do? I think Riley Leonard with a full training
camp is a better option. As crazy that sound, at
least like you know, let the kid have an opportunity.
And Riley Leonard was the third string behind Anthony Richardson.
You still have Anthony Richardson, and I know there's some
questions about what's happening with with his eye, but he's
not going to play this this season. But that is
(25:17):
also then your other option to do. And I'm also
curious on the Daniel Jones factor, not that he's going
to be ready for the start of next season, but
now Daniel Jones is not attractive as a free agent
to other teams, so the Colts could get him on
some sort of discount. It's would you extend that certain
years so then you have him in twenty twenty seven,
twenty twenty eight, or do you do a short term
(25:39):
deal because maybe you think Riley Leonard or Anthony Richardson
could be the guy and you're not sure about There
are a lot of questions the Colts have to answer,
but I just don't think Philip Rivers is one of
those answers.
Speaker 3 (25:48):
Absolutely do a short deal, by the way, with Daniel Jones,
you absolutely do it.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
Though you would do it like a five year deal.
But would you because twenty twenty six is basically a waste, correct,
So you're throwing that out. But are you then including
twenty twenty seven and twenty twenty eight because you believe
in him and what he's done so much? Or do
you still have questions about the injuries.
Speaker 3 (26:08):
That's what it would be. The injury is where I
would have the questions. And so it's like life is
unfair and what happened to Daniel Jones really sucks and
it's unfair. But he has to understand, like everyone's going
to question how you're going to come back from that
type of injury, and so I have to I have
to see what it's like. I have to test you out,
and he has he has to know that too, kind
of like a proven year, Yeah, to prove it that
(26:28):
I can still do it.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
I think I look Kirk Cousins had they got to
win against the Cardinals this past weekend. Kirk Cousins is
a lot older than Daniel Jones and coming off the
Achilles heck, Aaron Rodgers, like we've seen players come back
from this injury. Daniel Jones is better equipped than both
Kirk Cousins and Aaron Rodgers to come back from their
Achilles injury. But there's also a I think there's a
(26:51):
season of adjustment to your injury and what you can
and cannot do. I think Rodgers has found a really
good way to play with the injury and now can
move not as good as he once used to, but
figure it out a way to make it work. I
think Daniel Jones is gonna have to do that. And
the other thing with Jones is Rogers moves like Rogers
(27:12):
was able to move well in the pocket and would run.
The running game was a part of Daniel Jones's game.
So now, how does this injury affect that in his
Daniel Jones now just much more of a drop back
passer than the dual threat that he was for the
first half of this year. All of those questions still yet.
Speaker 3 (27:29):
To come absolutely, especially like again, it sucks for him.
It's just unlucky would happened to him because he was
still kind of on an approve it situation. Daniel Jones. Yeah,
you know, he was still trying to prove it and
then it just didn't work.
Speaker 2 (27:44):
Not to make this all about Lebron. Okay, not to
make this like some network both yeah, Lebron watched twenty
twenty If we've only got like six days of that left,
you they have to have a Lebron the watch watch watch. Yeah,
can we get to watch twenty twenty five? Can we
get that we were not going to hear it too
much anymore trying it.
Speaker 6 (28:01):
I had it sitting here and now I am just
trying to figure out.
Speaker 2 (28:04):
That's all right, whenever you find it. Yes, like the
yes is, just start playing it, that's all.
Speaker 6 (28:09):
Watch twenty twenty five, not watch twenty twenty five.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
Isn't this what Lebron should do? Leave for five years
and just come back.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
Oh you know, he's he's seen it, Philip rivers. Interesting,
So this is an option now.
Speaker 2 (28:21):
Doesn't want to play for on Christmas Day? You'd rather
be home with the family, Yes, opening presence.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
Okay, Lebron, that's we actually wish you were home too.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
Then he slipped and he said like me we we
I mean we, which was not not that was on purpose.
That was not miss the Freudian slip or anything. You
meant to do that. But I think that would be
that would be a great way for Lebron, because if
Lebron was away for five years and all of a sudden,
now at forty seven years old, comes back to the
(28:52):
NBA to play like a stretch run.
Speaker 3 (28:54):
Yeah, for a team help him at the end to
get to the playoffs. Yeah, twenty this is already.
Speaker 2 (28:59):
Goes back to Cleveland. Yes, right, for one last chance.
I could only do this with the Cavaliers. Yeah, I
think that's I think he should. He's marked it down. Now,
that's how you follow up Philip Rivers footsteps.
Speaker 3 (29:10):
Yeah, he's like, was it Bill Murray in Space Jam
coming in at the end?
Speaker 2 (29:14):
Never seen it?
Speaker 7 (29:15):
What?
Speaker 2 (29:16):
Yeah, I've never seen it? I bo Chris, can you?
Speaker 6 (29:20):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (29:20):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (29:21):
Dan doesn't watch any movies.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
Well no, I mean just but that did happen in
the movie, right?
Speaker 7 (29:24):
Yeah? I know that that is? Yes, what happens kind of?
Speaker 2 (29:26):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (29:26):
Are you messing with me?
Speaker 2 (29:28):
No, I've never seen Space Jam. Take You're not missing anything, Okay,
and I'm not. When I play video games, I only
play sports games. And I hated NBA Jam because it
only had two players. Like I liked how they had
real players on the game. But I'm like, this is
this is this is two on two? What is this?
Speaker 6 (29:50):
Don't worry about it.
Speaker 3 (29:52):
Chris is so wrong. Space Jam is awesome and Brody
would love it.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
I'm sure he would like it more than his seahawk.
Speaker 3 (30:01):
He would ask for Looney Tune pens instead.
Speaker 6 (30:04):
Okay, I am with Dan. Also, NBA Jam. Whatever did
you ever play arch Rivals where you could like punch
the other players.
Speaker 2 (30:10):
No, No, that wouldn't have been realistic. That would have
been Jenna says.
Speaker 6 (30:14):
My options, my options growing up just like that in
Lakers versus Celtics, I always went to arch Rivals.
Speaker 2 (30:19):
I have. I have no video games I have. I
don't have a PS five, but I have a PS two,
three and four. I don't have any video games that
aren't just sports. Yeah, that's all it is, and I
honestly I think they're all EA sports. I don't think
I have any two K games. And just like.
Speaker 6 (30:36):
Still working, that's remarkable.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
It's it's in a box in the girl but along
with six college football but those that's so like Space
Jam to me wasn't appealing because it's like it's space,
it's cartoons.
Speaker 3 (30:50):
And Michael Jordan was so good.
Speaker 2 (30:52):
He was so good and nominated for an Oscar.
Speaker 6 (30:55):
No, in my heart he was.
Speaker 2 (30:59):
Isaac long Us here with the latest uh high love Isaac.
Have you heard about trainer games?
Speaker 3 (31:04):
Have you watched Space Jam?
Speaker 2 (31:05):
Yeah? Add this to your binge list. Ten athletes go
ahead to head for the chance to win an I
Fit trainer contract with two hundred and fifty thousand dollars
Trainer Games on Prime Video January eighth. Watchthetrailer on trainer
games dot com. Space Jam thumbs upper, thumbs down.
Speaker 4 (31:19):
Well, it's actually our top story. Fox Sports radio personality
an apparent movie grinch, Dan Byer, publicly admitted that he
has never seen Space Jam, and in the last few moments,
Michael Jordan himself has issued a statement of reading and
I quote, honestly, you didn't mean miss much.
Speaker 6 (31:37):
I just took the money and ran.
Speaker 2 (31:39):
Oh I'm inter sing. That's from Michael Jordan. That was
not a made up quote by Isacah.
Speaker 4 (31:43):
I mean I've never seen Space Jam, either the original
one or the last.
Speaker 3 (31:47):
The second one sucks, Okay, it's don't either way. The
same script is no, not even sort of, not even
a little bit. The second one is awful, the first
one is great.
Speaker 6 (31:57):
We really need a Fox Sports criteria in collection here
for see nights here to catch up everyone.
Speaker 4 (32:03):
Certain if he said that he didn't see Home Alone
or a Christmas Story, that would have been highly highly offensive.
Speaker 2 (32:12):
Box I've never seen Home Alone, but I have, but
Christmas Story is one of my favorite.
Speaker 6 (32:17):
But you've never seen home I've been to the Christmas.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
Story House twice. In my in my life. I was
actually telling the story earlier this week. I have always
been a fan of a Christmas story.
Speaker 6 (32:27):
You've never seen Home Alone? You're not You're not joking
about never seen it.
Speaker 2 (32:31):
I've never seen it, and I love John Hughes, but
I've never seen it.
Speaker 3 (32:35):
Right, sound like it?
Speaker 4 (32:37):
You know what, We're going to order a plane, cheese
pizza from Little Neros, We're going to lock down in
the studio, and we're going to watch Home Alone.
Speaker 6 (32:43):
I say this past week, Bo and I alone have
seen Home Alone one and two, like three or four times,
just sitting in here.
Speaker 3 (32:51):
Nice.
Speaker 4 (32:52):
I'll tell you what that is a real top story.
We also have plenty of NFL news on this Christmas Eve.
Steelers linebacker TJ. Watt returned to the practice field today
after missing two games due to you know, Parsley collapsed long.
He was officially listed as a limited participant. Baltimore Ravens
quarterback Lamar Jackson did not practice today because of a
back contusion. Head coach John Harbaugh told reporters Jackson's status
(33:15):
for Saturday night's game at Green Bay has not been
determined yet. The Buffalo Bills listed quarterback Josh Allen as
a limited participant in their walkthrough practice today because of
a foot injury. Washington head coach Dan Quinn said Josh
Johnson going to start at quarterback tomorrow against the Cowboys.
The Minnesota Vikings ruled out running back Jordan Mason and
tight end TJ. Howkinson for their Christmas Day game against
(33:38):
the Lions. The Lions listed receiver Amana Ross Saint Brown
as questionable because of a knee injury and running back
David Montgomery as questionable due to illness. Sesame Street helped
raise all of us. Now it's our turn donate this
holiday season at sesame dot org because the world needs
sesame and Sesame needs you. Finally, the Kansas City Chiefs
(34:01):
have created an Elf on a Shelf themed video for
their Christmas Day game against the Broncos. It's called Kelsey
on the Shelfye and was narrated by Travis's mom, Donna Kelcey.
Speaker 6 (34:15):
Here's a taste.
Speaker 7 (34:16):
The Chiefs found an elf one that needed a name.
The Elf on the Shelf, said coach read with a smirk,
how about Kelsey I'm the Shelfie. Yeah, that'll work.
Speaker 6 (34:27):
By the way.
Speaker 4 (34:28):
Premiering later today, a similar video produced by Fox Sports
Radio entitled Monsey on a Shelfye back.
Speaker 6 (34:34):
To you guys.
Speaker 2 (34:36):
Honestly I saw the video. I wore a red hooded
sweatshirt today for some reason, I thought it was festive.
I look like Sanna. She looks like an elf next
to me.
Speaker 1 (34:44):
Like.
Speaker 2 (34:44):
It's like if you had a little green Peter Pan
sort of hat like or it would the video. It's
right here, right in front of us. We're not streaming live,
but it's close.
Speaker 3 (34:55):
No, but you are. You are festive. I'm festive too,
But no, I don't look like an elf.
Speaker 2 (35:01):
Now, I'm just saying, because I've got this enormous redime.
You are, yes, but I could say it's enormous you can't.
That was a yes. This is the season. It's festive.
Speaker 3 (35:10):
It in festive.
Speaker 1 (35:11):
You know.

Speaker 6 (36:47):
Momo thought about the three again. Now bounces it into
the paint the Scottie Barnes turns fires, gets the bucket
to go as he kissed it off.
Speaker 2 (36:55):
Glass took the contact from Hawkes and Scott He's going
to the line for the three point play. Raptors Radio
Network on the call, Raptors getting a w last night
over the heat? What the bucks beating the pacers can
be a play of the day. Hey, that's just that's
(37:15):
gonna happen again.
Speaker 3 (37:16):
We gotta give some That's a surprising team. I'm telling you,
the Raptors and the Suns. I can't believe they're as
good as they are.
Speaker 2 (37:23):
One twelve to ninety one was the final. Scottie Barnes
had twenty seven points eight rebounds in the victory in Miami.
One of these surprises, there's I don't think it'll be
a surprise with the NFL MVP. I think Matthew Stafford
won it in the loss on Thursday night against the Seahawks.
Speaker 3 (37:38):
Which is crazy. Why why what do you mean by
that that it's probably gonna be Matthew Stafford and he's
having a great year. I'm telling you he's I'm headed
to the Fantasy Championship because of him, thank you. But
is he the MVP?
Speaker 2 (37:51):
I don't.
Speaker 3 (37:52):
I don't know if he is, Dan, I don't know
if he is.
Speaker 2 (37:55):
I think that he is. I think he meets all
the criteria, especially being the old guy.
Speaker 3 (38:00):
Which is great. Love that. I do love that that
part of the story. But I just feel like there
is no clear cut standout quarterback, which is what they
always look for for the MVP. It's always a quarterback,
which is annoying. But it's like on a year where
it hasn't been that obvious and there isn't you know,
this head to head like we saw last year. How
(38:22):
are we not talking about Miles Garrett being the MVP.
Speaker 2 (38:26):
Well, we all know because the brown stink. That's that's
that's the reason why if he was affecting wins and losses.
He's the best player in the National Football League, but
he's just not.
Speaker 3 (38:37):
He's about to break a record now. And I say
that with the anticipation that he's going to break the record, right,
Like what if he doesn't, that's but he's about to
break a record.
Speaker 2 (38:46):
I just I don't think Michael Strahan won MVP the
year that he broke the record.
Speaker 3 (38:51):
Well you have a better memory. Who was there a
quarterback that had a region?
Speaker 2 (38:55):
I just know that it wasn't. I just know that
Michael Strahan wasn't the MVP.
Speaker 3 (38:58):
And then with like Matthews and Mattie Starved looks great
and he the Rams are are you know, kicking ass? Yes,
but he also has pookin a coop over there. He
also has DeVante Adams in the red zone catching all
these touchdowns for him. If anything, it's like who is
Drake May throwing to? What about Justin Herbert?
Speaker 2 (39:14):
I think May has got some pretty good targets Stefan Diggs,
Hunter Henry and.
Speaker 3 (39:19):
But nobody expected Stefon Diggs to maybe come back after
that injury, and like, you know, the whole boat insane.
Speaker 2 (39:25):
Like I also I think Devantae Adams is a nice
red zone target now now injured, and we see what
Pookin is. I I get it, like I've Pooka Nkuk
should probably be in the conversation as well, but he
isn't because I've argued that Jackson Smith and Jigba should
be in the conversation. Donald is bo, you had another
one that was nobody's talking about. Oh God, I did
(39:47):
who Justin Herbert.
Speaker 1 (39:50):
It was?
Speaker 2 (39:51):
I thought it was I thought it was.
Speaker 3 (39:52):
No, Yeah, he said, she said, We've just said, but
he said, but.
Speaker 2 (39:55):
Herbert's plus eight thousand right now. Trevor Lawrence is better
odds than than Justin her Bert right now. And I
feel like that's kind of been the Charger season, like
we stop paying attention to him because of all the injuries,
and then they just keep winning football and they're.
Speaker 3 (40:07):
Winning and they're winning in spite of it, which is crazy,
especially when he has he also has a messed up hand,
like he's dealing through injuries through a line. All of
the tackles have gone down and never came back up.
Speaker 2 (40:18):
For him.
Speaker 3 (40:18):
He should be one that there that should be in
more consideration I think.
Speaker 2 (40:22):
Than he is. It's gonna be Stafford or May unless
Josh Allen does something really crazy over these final two weeks.
But I think it's down to those three.
Speaker 3 (40:29):
No, I think it's gonna be Stafford.
Speaker 2 (40:31):
Yeah. Yeah, Well it's sound of the one. You heard
Monty say it here on Fox
