Everybody who has commented on our video that was a
big hit featuring Lee de lap Here. Thank you to
everybody who's commented. We wish you all up merry Christmas.
But whack Wombat's that's that's the Twitter says, since Moncy
and Torres are cheating on their respective co hosts, well
we get a Dan Buyers and Jamar show to show
(01:00):
them how it feels.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
I know. So guess what.
Speaker 6 (01:04):
Though, we do. Dan is kind of gonna make an
appearance later on. That's true, He's kind of He's gonna
make an appearance later on.
Speaker 4 (01:11):
What you don't know is, so, so tell how is
Dan going to make an appearance?
Speaker 5 (01:15):
Well, we you and I are going to have a
little competition, okay, cool?
Speaker 6 (01:19):
Who knows Buyer best?
Speaker 4 (01:21):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (01:22):
What you don't know is we're also doing who knows
Jmart Best later that hour, So that'll be really fun.
Stop that, kawhi laugh?
Speaker 4 (01:31):
All right? So we will be doing that?
Speaker 6 (01:34):
Was that.
Speaker 7 (01:37):
Was?
Speaker 6 (01:37):
That does not sound like Dan at all?
Speaker 3 (01:41):
That is not.
Speaker 6 (01:42):
No, it does not That's not Dan. You're tripping. Somebody
labeled it wrong.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
That's not it's Dan.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
I promise you.
Speaker 6 (01:48):
It was labeled wrong. Somebody messed up.
Speaker 4 (01:50):
It's just Dan his most uncontrolled moment.
Speaker 6 (01:52):
What made him laugh so much?
Speaker 7 (01:54):
I don't know, but it's in the system, so I'm
using it. Hello everyone, I haven't even said hi, do
you guys?
Speaker 8 (01:59):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (02:00):
Samson, Hello, Lee to lap is in Chris Profet and
guess what. This is the perfect time to bring all
of you in because it is Christmas. I alwa, Sam,
give us a little music and I'll tell you what
they say during Christmas time, Manzi, it is better to
give than to receive.
Speaker 6 (02:19):
It really is.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
And so we are in the festive spirit, and this
is what we're gonna do. We're gonna hand out some
gifts to our favorite players, athletes and teams. I will
give an example, and by the way, people should tweet.
Speaker 4 (02:32):
In as well.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Oh yes, what would your gift be to your favorite
team or athletes. I'll give an example. Hopefully I'm not
stealing anybody's. But the great example that Monzi gave. If
we were giving a Christmas gift to Joe Burrow, it
would be a real line, a line so that he
can actually stay healthy, which is actually a Christmas gift
to all of us because I think all of us
want to see him healthy. So we are giving out
(02:54):
Christmas gifts to our favorite athletes, our favorite teams. You
could tweet us at air and underscore Torres at Monty Blanio's.
But Manzi, since this was your brain child, I want
you to go ahead and the gift.
Speaker 5 (03:06):
And you know what, I do have gifts for even
my non favorite Oh just so you know, I have
gifts for everybody because it tis the season.
Speaker 6 (03:13):
Right, So my first gift is gonna go to Jackson Dart.
Speaker 5 (03:18):
Okay, I have a gift for Jackson Dart, and it's
gonna be a book called Concussions for Dummies. Okay, because
this guy thinks they're not a big deal, and it's like, no, no, no,
you have to protect yourself. You are no longer in college.
You are now playing against grown men. And I feel
like since he took over the job, every week it's
(03:39):
Jackson Dart is in concussion protocol. Jackson Dart has left
the game. Why because he's he wants to make the play.
I understand that you want to make the play, But
if you're not healthy and you can't stay on the field,
what play are you gonna make? Jackson Dart? So we
want to see you out there. I want to see
what you're capable of, but you need a Concussion for Dummies.
Speaker 6 (04:01):
That is my gift to Jackson Dart.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
When you said Jackson Dart, I thought it was gonna
be some play on a blue tent for real. I
hate to say, that's kind of what he's known for
right now. Can't stop putting his head down and trying
to run over people, which results into a lot of injuries.
All right, I got a couple, but I'm gonna save them.
I want to bring in Iowa Sam. You are up.
What are you giving your favorite athlete team whatever?
Speaker 7 (04:26):
This is not my favorite athlete or favorite team, but
I'm gonna give a shiny AFC Championship trophy.
Speaker 4 (04:32):
Right to Josh on the great call.
Speaker 7 (04:35):
He can skip the line, just get right to the
big game and go win it so that we don't
have any more of this, Like Josh Allen, the Bills
in their window of opportunity to get to the playoffs
and then they just can't get to the super Bowl.
Obviously the Bills what have never won a Super Bowl?
I don't believe. No, they haven't. And so get right
to the games, skip the line and just go play.
And I mean I picked the Rams, so maybe the
(04:56):
Rams Bills go go get there and get your get
your super for the city of Buffalo.
Speaker 6 (05:01):
That's a really generous gift.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
As someone who was on air in this studio with
Ephram Salaam during the meltdown yet again against Kansas City
last year, I think that's a great gift.
Speaker 6 (05:13):
That is a great gift.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
So thank you, thank you, Iowa Sam uh lead to Lap.
We know you're a Packers fan, but doesn't have to
be the Packers. Well, I do have a gift.
Speaker 9 (05:22):
For the package, and luckily I have two of these,
but I'm only going to give it one away.
Speaker 4 (05:26):
I'm going to give them an a.
Speaker 9 (05:27):
Cl I'm going to give them one of my a
cls because they could use two. They could use one
for Tucker Craft and for Michael Parsons. But uh, I'll
let them decide who they want. I would prefer, you know,
I guess it's a tough decision, but I don't know
that's a tough one because to make that decision, I
really don't. I'll let them decide, But if it were me,
I would say give it to Micah. He's just such
a difference maker. And uh, you know, they who was
(05:51):
the Golden Child for a few weeks this season so
far that they've been the Packers that are now you
know vine for that seventh seed. I think it would
just give them that boost, that uh, that Christmas spirit.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
They need right now.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
So what you're telling us is you love your team
enough to walk with a limp, but not be in
a wheelchair because you only want to give away one.
Speaker 9 (06:09):
Well, you know what I would if I would, I
would be in a wheelchair for a year if I
could have both of these guys back. Absolutely, that's a
good one. Packers man.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
It's a bummer as someone who has no skin in
the game, Like really good story, and you just want
to see all these teams competing at the highest level.
A theme of today's NFL games, which, by the way,
Cowboys up thirty to twenty three with fifty four seconds
left against the Washington Commanders. On the news desk with
the updates is Chris Prefet. Now, Chris, you're a Lions fan,
(06:40):
so I know you want Lee a Lap to keep
his ACLS intact. Over there doesn't have to be the Lions, no,
but you know what, I'll.
Speaker 10 (06:47):
Save the Lions for another time because I do want
to go to another one of my favorites. And it's
a little off the branch, but bear with me. United
States men's soccer team, you have a very big World
Cup coming up here. You're already in a ready allowed
in because you are hosting one of three teams hosting
so three automatic bids, which is like, feels wrong, feels
absolutely wrong. But the college football playoffs, you would never
(07:09):
hear oh my god, oh man, But I want to
give the United States some hitherto unknown superstar to add
to their roster because I or either that or like
if anyone's seen Dragon ball Z like a good time,
a good time in like the hyperbaric training chamber that
allows them to get super strong. Because I think there's
(07:31):
gonna be a lot of hope with this US men's
team coming up here with the World Cup and everything,
and everyone kind of casually tunes in and there's always
a few games that they play well. But this is
not As someone who does a weekly report for Bernie
Fratto on soccer, this is not a team. I have
a lot of faith in that just the they will
beat up on some small teams throughout the year, they'll
look good against countries that have no business in the
(07:52):
World Cup, and they'll get to the World Cup and
get completely outclassed and like you know, it wasn't that long.
It was back in September. They're losing two goals to
nil to like South Korea. Bowligan's been a cool addition
for them out of nowhere, But like they need someone,
Maybe we can go give Mohammed Sala like a US
citizenship or something.
Speaker 4 (08:10):
I don't know. By the way, we do quickly have
a final.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
Dallas Cowboys got a Christmas gift, a thirty to twenty
three win over the Washington Commanders Game one. In the books,
Chris prefets Detroit Lions and the Minnesota Vikings are up next. Yay,
all right, I guess it's up to me. By the way,
that's good. By the way, have you seen World Cup
ticket prices at so far?
Speaker 3 (08:31):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (08:31):
There, they are insane.
Speaker 10 (08:33):
But yeah, it caused a backlash with a bunch of
fans because for people in the rest of the world,
they are not used to paying triple digits or higher
for sporting events, so the.
Speaker 4 (08:43):
Same Yeah, it's ridiculous.
Speaker 10 (08:47):
I was hoping to take my father to a couple
of games out here, but uh, likewise, you have to
dig in some savings.
Speaker 7 (08:52):
You look at like, yeah, like the a lot of
people in the United Kingdom are really upset because they're
paying a lot to get over here at hotels, and
then if you ticket on top of.
Speaker 4 (09:00):
That and they want to follow.
Speaker 10 (09:02):
They want to follow their country around, which means in
the United States plane trips between multiple cities. If for
for the UK, for England.
Speaker 7 (09:10):
It looks like if you're going to be coming from
abroad to these World Cup games, like you're in the
elite economic strata, if you're gonna be able to go
to these games, and that's just unfortunate because it should
be something that's uh accessible to the masses.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
Very good, Well, Christmas gift to soccer fans, so extra
cash in the serious all right, I'll do mine really quick.
By the way, Monty, I know you have a lot
of Okay, we'll get to we'll get to one more
of yours. We'll revisit this. You can tweet us at
your Christmas gifts, uh Era and underscore torres Manzi Polanios.
So what I am gifting my buddy Adams silver? Okay,
(09:47):
I think he's the worst commission that I've literally ever seen.
I think he's actually terrible. I'm gifting him a little
bit of common sense and maybe because he's a cowardly lion,
a little bit of heart. Yeah, okay, and maybe just
get off the radar. Maybe it's maybe it is a
trip to can Kun and just get off the radar.
Because what I do think is today these Christmas Day games,
(10:11):
I actually think the NBA has a crop of like,
very likable, bright young stars.
Speaker 4 (10:18):
Victor Winn Banyama, who's playing today.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
I know Shay is a little controversial with the file
stuff whatever, but obviously he's easy to root for. Cooper
Flagg will be playing later today, and I just don't
trust Adam Silver to capitalize on it at all, and
he'll do something stupid now he wants to move the
playing tournament to fog out. Just stay out of the way.
Let the adults do their job market your stars correctly.
(10:43):
That is my gift to Adam Silver. I think what
it really is is just a log cabin in the woods.
Just get out of the way and don't screw up
this this young group of guys, because I think they
are all very, very very likable.
Speaker 6 (10:55):
I hope that gift he accepts it, But.
Speaker 4 (10:58):
Do not agree some of the older guys. It's a.
Speaker 6 (11:01):
Listen.
Speaker 5 (11:01):
I love the older guys because I love, you know,
watching stuff Steph create till this day is one of
the best things you could watch when it comes to
the NBA product. But I agree there was like yesterday
Dan byer Are who were cheating on apparently Dan Byer
made We were talking about the NBA, and he said something.
Speaker 6 (11:19):
I was like, huh, I never really thought of it
like that.
Speaker 5 (11:22):
How he said that kind of like a generation skipped
in the NBA, like the of you know, of passing
the torch, like the Jahn Morants, Zion Williamson, Oh, that
Jason Tatum, Like they're in the middle that we've kind
of like forgotten about because of the old guys, because
of the unks. But now the new generation seems to
(11:42):
actually maybe have the right momentum. Victor Ian Banyamay shake
Gil just and you could and he Luca, you could
put Luca in the younger generation. But there's like a
forgotten generation of players who just did not get that
torch being.
Speaker 6 (11:56):
Passed to them.
Speaker 4 (11:56):
And it's two things.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
One, to their credit, the old guys have played well,
like beyond a reasonable amount of time. But I'll say this,
I and I don't want to be negative on Christmas
Day about the NBA, but like, I think it's hurt
the NBA where they have leaned so heavily into Lebron
and Steph and Kate that they're just like they shouldn't
(12:20):
have to be carrying the league at this point. And
I do think We're finally at that place where is
Wenby a household name today.
Speaker 4 (12:27):
No, he's really close.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
I was gonna say, but gets to a Western Conference finals,
he's playing Luca, you know whatever. Like like, I think
we're close, and I do think there's a good group.
And I think the important part too, is this group
seems like they're like ready to embrace.
Speaker 4 (12:43):
Like it just seems like the right guy.
Speaker 6 (12:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
This this was a tourist take from a year ago.
I go, Everybody's like, who's the face of American basketball?
I was like, why isn't it Kate cunning here? Like
awesome player, awesome game, and this is all my college
hoops coming out. I remember interviewing Kate Cunningham when he
was sixteen years old. It was like talking to a
thirty five year old grown man, sweetest kid ever, and
(13:08):
he wasn't a kid. He was a kid, but he
wasn't a kid. And I'm like, he's literally everything that
you want, no disrespect. But like we know, Anthony Edwards
has some stuff going on off the court that maybe
like is it really like the face of the NBA
is type stuff. Jason Tatum's kind of boring, he's quiet, whatever,
I'm like, kid's here, and now he's really here. Number
(13:29):
one team in the East. Stats are off the chart.
Chris Purfett is giving up on the Lions. He's starting
a Pistons podcast right now, go ahead, we can bring you.
Speaker 4 (13:36):
In a second.
Speaker 5 (13:37):
And also with the Pistons, like a team that has
a good history.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
Yeah, you know, like it's and perfect. Can speak to
Detroit like the passion for it.
Speaker 5 (13:45):
But exactly like it makes too much sense, and I agree,
But I feel like he's part of it. He's he's
definitely part of it. I'm gonna read a tweet that
was sent to us of a listener who is gifting
their favorite team, the Raiders, a great offensive line. That
is Brendan Brody tweeted at US Merry Christmas. That's his team,
a great offensive line. Honorable mention, he said, a head
(14:07):
coach who cares about his team fighting to the finish
and who acknowledges that tanking is cutting corners and cheating.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
How about just to new everything everything from the stadium
and city, because that's awesome. Yeah, yeah, that was another one.
I go back to the draft last year. Everyone's like, oh, Ash,
I'm like, you don't take a running back in with
the fourth overall pick. If you literally need help everywhere, right,
and Gino Smith was not the answer perfect. Did you
want to chime in really quickly on the Detroit stuff.
Speaker 10 (14:32):
No, I was just going d basketball. It's fun to
have a fun NBA team again, and to do it
in the style like I co signed on everything he
said on Kate, like he's been, he's he's he wears
it all on his sleeve, and that's exactly what the
NBA needs.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
Well, he is one of the few stars that is
not playing today because coming up here in a little bit,
we have Cooper Flag and the Dallas Mavericks against the
Golden State Warriors. Right now, the San Antonio Spurs up
eighty three to sixty eight against the Oklahoma City under
and as mentioned, the Cowboys have officially taken care of
the Washington Commanders in the opening game of the NFL
(15:07):

Speaker 4 (18:44):
We'll come back and talk NBA in a minute.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
Monsi pah, We have to go out to the to
the phone lines here because we are joined now by
our Fox Sports Radio NFL Insider host of the Inside
the Birds podcast, Adam applet is on the phone. Adam,
Happy holiday. Hope you and your family are having a
good time. And I know you're watching some football. How
(19:06):
are you today, Adam?
Speaker 3 (19:07):
Guys, I hope you're well. And yeah, it's we had
football and the Cowboys they didn't cover the spread for
those people. Look at that that you were actually getting
a hand point fair, which I thought was competal. So Cowboys.
But yeah, look, it's so funny because when the NFL
put this schedule together and it was the first year
for Netflix to have two games, the other the third
(19:28):
ones on Amazon Prime. But if you really looked at
the matchups to start the season, Denver Kins City look
like an unbelievable matchup. We know what's happened to the Chiefs,
right the Texans and Chargers is it was hard to
see that these teams, both teams would be this good,
particularly the Texans turning their season right after a terrible
start and the line has been falling off. But all
the matchups are just not what we thought because of
(19:50):
a lot of things have transpired.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
Let me ask you this, Adam is so I was
talking to Monsi about this earlier. I know there's no
way to prove this. I do feel like there's a
little bit of a causation correlation as far as like
specifically the Chiefs. It's like you have basically asked them
to headline every signature day that you have. They were
in Brazil on a Friday, they obviously played Thanksgiving Day.
(20:14):
Maybe them, maybe they're the outlier. But is that just
they're old aware and terri thing because I do feel
like I don't even know if I'm explaining this properly,
but some of these teams have been asked to play
so many games.
Speaker 4 (20:26):
Short weeks, long weeks.
Speaker 2 (20:27):
Is there a body blow theory to any of this
being possibly the case with these ns?
Speaker 6 (20:33):
Well?
Speaker 3 (20:33):
I know I know that the Eagles who won the
Super Bowl, I know that they felt that this long
offseason for them, well sure an off season, but long
season for them was a factor. No question of why
they've worn down. Now there they're starting to get themselves
together here. They have a big game on Sunday afternoon
in Buffalo. But yeah, it usually the War of attrition.
(20:54):
It gets you. It certainly gets you to this point. Now,
the chief situation, it's really not injury related, folks. They
just did not have a good offseason. They've Mahomes is
really the last two seasons not played at particularly high level,
and when you don't get a lot of free agents right,
and they didn't, and they didn't have the drafts that
they thought they had. This is why they're six to nine,
(21:15):
going to have the first losing season that Andy Reid
has had since he left Philly after twenty twelve. That's
part of it. I mean, each situation you have to
look at differently, but certainly, on your point, injuries are factor.
The length of the season is a factor. And we
only have one bye week, which when we get and
we're going to get to it at some point, we're
gonna have the eighteenth game in a nineteen week season.
(21:36):
That's when we're gonna have two buys.
Speaker 6 (21:38):
That's just crazy because I know that's gonna happen. Adam
married Christmas. See, yes, so let's switch gears here.
Speaker 5 (21:45):
I've already apologized to Trevor Lawrence because I thought he
only could do it well against the Georgias.
Speaker 6 (21:51):
After winning six.
Speaker 5 (21:52):
In a row.
Speaker 6 (21:52):
Are they in your circle of trust?
Speaker 3 (21:55):
Yeah, they have to be. It's the team I mean
Trevor Lawrence for the first half the season and really
heading into their bye week they were four to three,
but they were so bad over the final two games
a week six and seven home loss to Seattle Line
score twelve points, so they got absolutely smacked. The Rams
came in and blew them out in Jacksonville, so there's
(22:16):
no reason to think and they have. They had the
tough loss at Houston where they blew the huge lead.
So through ten weeks there were a team like you
wouldn't think would make the playoffs. But you just mentioned
the six game winning streak, and Trevor Lawrence is not
making the mental ayers. And what's happened is the monte
they're wanning a Liam Cohen, the head coaches. Also the
(22:36):
play caller one a old school West Coast offense. It's
his version of the Rams offense, and it's forcing Trevor
Lawrence to make quick decisions and he sure is in
their offense. So this is another thing you couldn't see
this stuff. Like Aaron asked a question about sort of
the totality the season, but it's some of these teams
have come kind of out of nowhere. There's no reason
(22:58):
to think at four and three that they would win
the division. And obviously this is before Daniel Jones tours
Achilles with the Colts and how they've gone to the tank.
There have been a lot of crazy stories the second
half of the season. This is one of them.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
Adam kaplan Ar Fox Sports Radio NFL Insider is joining us.
You can also hear him on the Inside the Birds podcast.
You know, speaking of apologies, let me ask you this, Adam.
I don't know that we're in the apologize to JJ
McCarthy camp yet, but I don't even play great against
the Giants. But obviously the Vikings are playing later today.
Speaker 3 (23:27):
Got hurt too.
Speaker 2 (23:28):
Yeah, Yeah, I always felt like it was a little
unfair to like like one. It just feels like, you know,
it feels like there was some preconceived bias against him
going into that draft, you know, the Michigan stuff he did,
you know, he didn't have to do too much whatever.
But also I kind of saw him almost as like
(23:50):
a rookie this year. He did not play at all
last year, and so I guess I'm just asking you know,
five six weeks ago, we were all saying, this is
an abject failure, and we understand what Sam Darnold's doing
in Seattle, et cetera. But like, sure, what what do
people inside that building or maybe even just inside the
league feel about what he can maybe be after showing
flashes he's less compl.
Speaker 3 (24:11):
Yeah, he's more of a game manager type when he
got healthy air. And you know, he's had numerous injuries.
He's had two right hand injuries. The last one is
got is the fracture, and then he had the meniscus
which costs him the entire regular season. He only played
in one preseason game against the Raiders and that was it.
So he's missed more games as a professional that he's
been available for. But he did start to come on
(24:31):
on your point. And my sense is when they're done
this season and they're gonna they're gonna, when they're honest
with themselves, they're gonna look at and say, okay, look
he's just not been available. Now the the free agent
class is really not very good. Now, the guy's gonna
get a lot of plays. Max Jones know he's under
contract for next season, and Mac Jones is gonna make
(24:51):
less than five million. The Niners will get a good
draft pick for him. They could get his sig as
a second round pick for him. But the Vikings to me,
because their defense more often not plays pretty well, it
will not surprise me if they add another quarterback. That's
kind of from what I've heard is they thought McCarthy's
come on a little bit, but there are the point
here where they think they have to take the next step.
(25:14):
Whereas you know, Kevin O'Connell's done a really good job here.
He's done a really good job, but you can only
control so much. But he had that four game losing
streak and now they've won three in a row, and
we'll see what happens.
Speaker 5 (25:25):
Obviously today, Adam, the NFC South is still up for grabs.
And when I look at the Panthers and the Buccaneers,
I just have like such different feelings. I don't know,
the Buccaneers got healthier and yet they can't.
Speaker 6 (25:37):
Figure it out on offense exactly.
Speaker 5 (25:39):
Even though I think Carolina will win this division, I
feel like I trust Tampa Bay Moore in the postseason.
Speaker 3 (25:46):
Well, if they can make it of Tampa, then yeah,
it's really odd like the Kladjiah can't see their undersized
defensive tackle first round from a couple of years ago.
He's started to practice this week coming back from the
touring biceps. But when you look at their situation, they've
unachieved this season. They look like earlier they're going to
run away from everybody, and then their defense is kind
(26:08):
of collapsed. You know, their secondaries played poorly. Baker Mayfield
got off to a great start with yet another offensive coordinator.
They are another team. It's really interesting when you look
at this yet another team. They headed to their bye
week and kind of writing their own story where they
were six and two, really in control of the NFC South,
(26:29):
and then they've now lost six out of seven. Their
defense is collapsed, their patrush stinks, they don't cover very well,
and Todd Bowles is a defensive head coach. It's his
defense that he calls the place. It's not good. And
they're also they have a losing record at home. That's
hard to believe they should. There's no question of Montso
when you look at the talent and this is the
way the people are in the league see it with
way more talent in the Carolina CAROLINEA is probably overachieved,
(26:53):
but yeah, they're a team to me. If they don't
make the playoffs here right, Not that I'm suggesting top
balls will be let go, but this is a situation
to watch because trust me when I tell you this,
their expectations within that building were very high and they
haven't met it and that's never good for a head coach.
But we'll see what happens really quick.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
Adam, you know, yesterday there was a report, by the way,
Adam Kaplan, our Fox Sports Radio NFL insider and host
of the Inside the Birds podcast, is joining us.
Speaker 4 (27:21):
So yesterday report from the Baltimore Sun.
Speaker 3 (27:24):
Yeah, I saw that.
Speaker 2 (27:25):
Yeah, well yeah, I'll just frame it for the people
that maybe didn't see it because they were traveling whatever
friction with the Ravens and Lamar Jackson.
Speaker 4 (27:34):
John Harbaugh immediately shot Now, yeah, he shut that down
big time. So is there nothing to that? Is that?
Speaker 2 (27:40):
I mean, everyone's allowed to report what they want, but like,
what did you make of that when you saw it?
Speaker 3 (27:44):
Yeah? So I just I read a paragraph and I
saw the headline and I'm like, okay, well, I know
my reporting on John harrible. Every time I check with
a team source over the we're going back several years
when things were not good. They always say, hey man,
outside our building, we're all good. You know you're making
too much of this. We're frustrated, but we're gonna get
(28:05):
this thing turned around. We love Harbs and he would
always get us the deal that it would always turn
it around. They get a contract extension or two or three.
So but listen, Lamar a lot of injury in his career.
He's a losing record in the playoffs at three and
five now, but you look at three MVP awards, so
that that counts. It's a really good quarterback. We know
(28:25):
it's just not good in the playoffs. But he also
and I always tell fans, is if you want the
quarterback gone, where you're getting another one? Right, That's the
problem with it. I'd be shocked if they even considered
it now. I know in my information gathering when they
had a contract squabble with him before you sawn the
latest deal, there were teams around the league that said, listen,
(28:47):
they will listen if you They just want to know
what his value is. But they never got anything. They
never got any because no one really believed that the
Ravens were going to trade, in which I believe was
the case. But from what I heard from clubs is
that like they're waiting to see what its value is
and nobody's stepping up to the plate. So yeah, I
just now what would happen. They would get at least two,
(29:08):
if not three, first round picks for him. That's that's
my sense, if they were, if they were ever really,
really really willing to treat them.
Speaker 5 (29:15):
Adam, before we let you go, MVP, is it Matthew
Stafford's Yeah, I.
Speaker 3 (29:20):
Vote for two poules. I'm going to go with Stafford
one for sure. Drake May's got to be up there.
Jonathan Taylor kind of sort of like Offensive Player of
the Year. There's a distinction of two. Those that award
typically goes to a running back. The MVP rarely goes
to a running back. I know Adrian Peterson won at
one year, but yeah, I miss Stafford's just so many
(29:41):
of that streak of twenty eight straight touchdowns without a pick,
which is hard to do in this day and age.
I just and it's funny how much they were. You know,
they had a contract issue, they were looking to move
them at one point the off season last year. It's
funny how things work out. But they're another team when
you look at it, where were they going to go
a quarterback? Yeah, Jimmy, Jimmy Garoppolo is not the answer.
(30:01):
So yeah, I would say right now, I'd have to
go to Stafford. I remember, it's a regular season warders,
nothing to do with the playoffs. Josh Allen is certainly
making a run here, But you got to look at it.
I always tell people you can't have recency bias. You
got to look at the entire season for sure.
Speaker 5 (30:14):
But as a Chargers fan, how is Justin Herbert not
being looked at more seriously after losing his starting tackles
and still.
Speaker 6 (30:23):
Managing to stay alive and having success with a broken hand, the.
Speaker 5 (30:28):
Whole the whole ordeal, And I feel like, how is
he not being considered more in that?
Speaker 3 (30:32):
Well, it's because of the numbers. I mean, it's unfortunately
numbers award. We have to look at that. But I
would put give me the all courageous team. I mean,
he's the game he had against Philly. It's funny where
he ran a lot. Most most rushers in a game
he's had in two seasons. He had ten in that game.
He actually led them in a rushing which is not
what you want. Yeah, but it's really just a remarkable story.
(30:52):
And Jim Harbaugh, the Harball brothers pretty good coaching family.
Their dad Jack pretty good as well.
Speaker 4 (31:00):
Else is good. Adam Kaplin, you're the man.
Speaker 3 (31:02):
Appreciate that.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
No, no, we appreciate you joining us on a holiday.

win an i Fit trainer contract worth two hundred and
fifty thousand dollars. Trainer games on Prime Video that's January eighth.
You can watch the the trailer right now on trainer
games dot Com. Come back react to some of what
Adam said before we do, though, Let's get it over
(31:54):
the news desk. Chris Purfet, Happy holidays. What is trending, sir?
Happy holidays? We have kid off in Minnesota between the
Lions and Vikings. Couple in actives to keep in mind,
Taylor Decker rolled out before the game with illness. Late
addition to that report no TJ. Hawkinson, no Jordan Mason
for the Vikings and Max Brosmer under center in place
(32:15):
of JJ McCarthy. Vikings with the ball to start this game.
Earlier NFL Action, the Cowboys did outlast the Commanders thirty
to twenty three. Your final score from d C Dak
Prescott two touchdowns in this game and a seventy two
yard running touchdown for Washington running back Jacorey krossky Merritt
(32:36):
in NBA Action. Spurs and Thunder on the court right now,
nine minutes to go in the fourth quarter. Spurs with
a ninety seven to eighty five lead. But Shay gilges
Alexander twenty points so far in this game and creeping
up even more if he's going to put Oklahoma City
back out in front and earlier in the NBA, Jalen
(32:57):
Brunson had thirty four points. Nicks put a forty two
point fourth quarter to power past the Cavaliers one twenty six,
one twenty four. Aaron and Monsey back to you, Happy
holiday again. I just promised Sam I wouldn't do this.
I just promised Sam I wouldn't do this. Sesame Street
helped race all of us. Now it's our turn. Donate
this holiday at sesame dot org because the world needs
(33:20):
Sesame and Sesame needs you. It's holidays.
Speaker 1 (33:24):
No.
Speaker 6 (33:24):
I struggled to Chris some more about it when I
was saying, in.
Speaker 4 (33:28):
He's sitting here in my hand in front of me,
I need to.
Speaker 6 (33:31):
Like tape it to my forehead like I won't remember.
Speaker 4 (33:34):
I need like thirty reminders from Syria.
Speaker 2 (33:36):
You got Lions fever. We know you are our Lions insider.
They're about to kick off. You got a lot on
your plate right now. Thank you, Chris perfet Uh Fox
Sports Artio air tours Moncey Bilanios were taking.
Speaker 4 (33:47):
Up till seven p m.
Speaker 2 (33:49):
Eastern, so much more to come back to discuss some
of what Adam Kaplan said by the way, Spurs up
by nine. Everybody was just giving Okay c the Larry
O'Brian Trophy.
Speaker 5 (34:04):
I mean, I still am. I think in a seven
game series it's a different question. But it's crazy that
the Spurs did beat them going to the NBA Cup
and that victor Ie Banyama is coming off the bench
and they're having this success.
Speaker 4 (34:16):
We'll discuss that next. Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 8 (34:19):

Speaker 3 (34:51):
Where are you?
Speaker 4 (34:51):
How are you listening?
Speaker 2 (34:53):
For for forty years, Tyreck has been helping customers find
the right tires for how, what and where they drive.
Ship Fast and freeback by free Road has a protection
with convenient installation options like mobile tire installation.
Speaker 4 (35:06):
Tyreck dot Com.
Speaker 2 (35:07):
The way tire buying should be second game in the
NFL is underway. Nothing nothing in Minnesota as the Vikings
take on the Detroit Lions. Dallas wins game one thirty
to twenty three. And in the NBA, the team that
Manti Blanio's does not believe in. I did say that
(35:28):
San Antonio Spurs up one oh six ninety one.
Speaker 4 (35:31):
I just threw it out there.
Speaker 6 (35:32):
Maybe that's not at all, don't you know, Maybe.
Speaker 4 (35:34):
They're Okayseys kryptonite. And Matti was like, no, I hate
the Spurs. We'b be sucks that.
Speaker 5 (35:38):
I didn't say any of those things, listeners, I just said,
I still think it's Okc's championship to lose. I think
they they're young, they got depth, they're long, and the
Spurs can counter that.
Speaker 6 (35:50):
But I'm still.
Speaker 5 (35:51):
Saying, if I'm putting money right now, thunder are gonna
win the championship, and they're probably gonna win more than
one in the next couple of years.
Speaker 4 (35:56):
So two quick things.
Speaker 2 (35:57):
One, I thought it was a little like, first of all,
the last like four champions that we've had in the NBA,
you could have conceivably been like, oh, they're gonna go
on a run, right, Remember when the Nuggets went, oh
my god, yo, Kitchen Murray forever, and it was like, eh,
you know, whatever hasn't happened for them since, although that's
more of an OKAC thing than anything, but the Celtics
(36:17):
when they won THEIRS, it was like, Oh, my goodness,
Brown and Tatum just entering their prime. So I thought
it was just like a little too on the nose
for everybody to be like, oh, you know, they're so young.
And I will say, obviously they got out to a
great start to this regular season, but my whole thing
with OKC was Denver took them seven, Indy took them seven,
(36:39):
in which Tyrese haliburt and we know what happened.
Speaker 4 (36:41):
Unfortunately, I just thought it was a little.
Speaker 2 (36:44):
Too like like people were like, I don't think we
really ever got to the point where, like, you know,
are they gonna be one of the greatest teak because
you know, they were trending to have this insane regular
season record, which they still are to a degree. I
guess the only point I'm trying to make is it
felt a little too easy to me to.
Speaker 4 (37:01):
Be like, everybody's playing for second place.
Speaker 2 (37:03):
Look at the thunder and so I think they're gonna
be pushed, whether it's by the Spurs or somebody else
once we get to the postseason.
Speaker 6 (37:09):
I think part of it, You're not wrong.
Speaker 5 (37:11):
I think part of it is also they just have
so many draft picks for the next several years, like
they can make more moves if they want. They can
acquire literally whoever they want, because they act they have
whatever other teams want, which is draft picks.
Speaker 6 (37:22):
And you're right, you.
Speaker 5 (37:23):
Know, they went to seven games with the Nuggets. Clippers
went to seven games with the Nuggets.
Speaker 6 (37:27):
So it's like.
Speaker 4 (37:28):
Always comes back to the Clippers with blond.
Speaker 5 (37:30):
Hey, they won Tuntero Baby Lakers.
Speaker 4 (37:32):
James Harden hadn't been two of ninety six from the floor.
Speaker 6 (37:36):
James Harden. You can hate on QUI a little bit.
James Harden.
Speaker 4 (37:41):
Love James Harden.
Speaker 5 (37:42):
He has kept us afloat in ways I didn't think
like he is making an argument.
Speaker 6 (37:48):
To be one of the best Clippers of all time.
He's making an argument.
Speaker 4 (37:52):
You know, ar don't look at me like that.
Speaker 2 (37:53):
You had one of the best clippers of all time
on your roster and he didn't show up to his
Halloween party.
Speaker 5 (37:58):
No, no, no, don't get me started. Don't I hate
I hate that whole thing. I'm a team Chris Paul
on that. You know, No, I told you why James
Harden didn't show up. We talked about it off here.
Speaker 4 (38:08):
Does he have a girlfriend?
Speaker 2 (38:09):
By the way, because I saw a clip from that,
like from the show, and there was some girl that
was being interviewed very much like it was his girlfriend,
and I was like, does James Harden he is he
a one woman man?
Speaker 5 (38:20):
Then I don't know if he's the one woman man,
but definitely that's what they thought. I know, he's never
been very still till yeah, he's never even after that show.
It's not like we've seen more on social media.
Speaker 2 (38:30):
By the way, James Harden, I will give him credit
for this. I've always said this the only man that
the Kardashian family did not break because he did.
Speaker 6 (38:39):
It's all right for a minute, he did, You're right,
and look at him.
Speaker 4 (38:42):
Didn't work out well for Kanye.
Speaker 2 (38:43):
No, Pete Davidson, Well, Pete Davidson's bouncing back, okay, but
he's fine.
Speaker 4 (38:47):
Chris hump. Chris, Kanye got children out of this.
Speaker 2 (38:51):
I mean, I just saw Kim post a picture of
her and her children that Kanye was very absent for but.
Speaker 6 (38:57):
Anyway, play survived, didn't play day Kendall.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
Devin Booker, Devin Booker, she's a Jenner, though she doesn't
have full cart.
Speaker 6 (39:06):
Oh, I see what you're saying.
Speaker 4 (39:07):
Okay, yeah she's a Jenner.
Speaker 6 (39:09):
She's a Jenner.
Speaker 2 (39:10):
But yeah, James Harden just rolled right off. It wasn't
even a big deal. But I've thought about that many times.
But I don't know if that's an appropriate Christmas National
conversation topic, but it always is. So you so you
still think even if San Antonio wins this game, it
has no bearing on like they're officially the favorite or
(39:31):
anything like that.
Speaker 6 (39:32):
I really don't And I know again, they look really good.
Speaker 5 (39:35):
I think the Darren Fox and Stefan Castle like duo
is better than I think people expected. And Victor won
Bonyama again coming off the bench, and they're having success.
Speaker 6 (39:45):
I just I don't know.
Speaker 5 (39:47):
I think Okac has a lot of talent, and it's
like you've seen different players come up big in different
moments for okay, see, and we can't see that for
the Spurs, But for me right now, there's no reason
to change that, I think, And I don't want the
Thunder to win. I don't want them to win because
it'll always be connected to the Clippers and.
Speaker 4 (40:06):
What the Clippers do.
Speaker 6 (40:06):
You know what I'm saying, Like, I don't want them
to win.
Speaker 5 (40:09):
I just think based on the eye test, based on
what I've seen this last year, I just don't know
if anyone can really beat them in a seven game series.
Speaker 6 (40:18):
That's all.
Speaker 4 (40:19):
It's an interesting thought.
Speaker 2 (40:21):
And I'll say this, the NBA is setting up very nicely,
those top four in the West, Okce, San Antonio, Denver Lakers.
I can be a critic of the NBA sometimes, but
those would be a pretty sweet semi finals if.
Speaker 6 (40:32):
We absolutely absolutely.
Speaker 2 (40:35):
Fox Sports Radio eritors manci Blanios, we are taking it
up until seven pm Eastern. Covino and Rich is up next.
We will be in for Covino and Rich, so stick
with us. A lot of NFL, a lot of NBA.
Merry Christmas, Fox Sports Radio, Merry Christmas.
