(00:40):
get in on the conversation onto it.
Speaker 3 (00:42):
Yeah, yes, everybody else, well, you're in any for other reasons.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Yeah, but why not pile on? Why not just like
add on to the list. It'll be a free for all.
It's always a free for all when Monty and I
get together and we hang out with the likes of
one Jason Stewart a happy New Year.
Speaker 4 (00:56):
To you, Jason, Hello everybody.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
All right, Chris Purfett is here, He's going to be
here for a little while and Iowa Sam takes over.
But uh, happy new Year, Chris Purfetz, Happy New Year everyone.
And the one and knows only Isaac Lohan Crown is
at the news desk. Also not an idiot like me
and Lane Kiffin. We'll get to that in a sack,
But Happy New Year, Isaac.
Speaker 4 (01:15):
It's not easy being low and crazy.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
That is true. I feel like I have company being
an idiot with me and Lane Kiffin. Not for the
same reasons, but it sure didn't feel like the ole
Miss Rebels missed their old head coach last night and
that Sugar Bowl win against Georgia, not.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
Even a little bit. And I know the first half
for Ole Miss didn't look like they were getting in
a groove, but coming out of that half they I
don't know, I don't know what was said to Trinidad Chamliss,
but he was so fun to watch in that second half.
And I just was wondering the whole time, what is
Lane Kiffin thinking? What is he doing?
Speaker 2 (01:54):
I thought the same thing, you know, So what did
you think that Lane Kiffin was thinking as he was
holding hands with Kim Maulky at the LSU women's basketball
game last night in Baton Rouge.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
You know, I was here with Aaron Torres, who was
in seven to eleven Pacific time, and I was like
cheering or like reacting to Trinidad Chambliss every time he
scrambled and extended the play and then got some crazy
you know thrown downfield. I was like, oh my god.
And I think Lane Kiffin was like, no, no, no, no, no,
drump that ball. That's what I think Lane Kiffen was doing.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
I think you're absolutely right. And I think that human
nature or the good the little devil and the angel talking.
Ye yeah, the angels like those are your guys. Those
are your guys, here for them, and the Devil's like,
you got work to do at LSU. They need to lose.
Ole Miss is nothing without you. And that's probably the
voice that took over in his head. For as much
(02:48):
as assistants that are with ole Miss now that will
come to LSU, if they stay at ele Miss another week,
it could really hamper his efforts for getting players in
the transfer portal and that whole deal. So I think Ultimately,
Lane Kiffin's new job took over in what he wanted
to happen last night.
Speaker 3 (03:07):
Yeah, because he knows what's going to come with that.
I feel like he he had a tweet ready or
to put all guys, you tried your hardest. You know,
I'm so proud of you. But instead he couldn't send
that tweet and all he did was a little flag
to like indicate support or whatever, And it was like,
you know, he didn't want to send that because in reality,
like you said, I don't think they missed him one bit.
(03:28):
They did not need him to go out there and
kick some ass.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Yeah. I think that there's And you've worked with me
long enough, you know what. You know what I want
to do When I come back from a week long vacation.
The first thing I want to do is say, like,
how things go? How was say the Sunday show that
I do with Carry Roads. Yes, let's say I missed
the Sunday Show and I come back the next week
and I ask you, Monty, how did this? How did
(03:53):
the Sunday show go? What do I want to hear?
Speaker 3 (03:56):
You want me to say it went fine, but we
really missed it?
Speaker 2 (03:59):
Yes, Yes, I don't want to hear great. Yeah, I
don't want to hear it was a really good show.
I don't want to hear that it may have been
and I may not have been missed at all, but
I want to be missed. Yeah, And I think that's
what Lane Kiffin wanted. Land Kiffin wanted to be missed,
even though it was his own decision to leave and
leave when he did, and he says that it's ole
(04:20):
Miss's decision, which I believe. He wanted to coach the Rebels,
but he ultimately had the decision of do I take
the LSU job and not coach them, or do I
stay at ole Miss and try to see this run
through it's national championship. He made the decision to leave,
and that's the bed that he has to sleep in.
But I know that in the heart of hearts, he
wishes things wouldn't have gone as well for ole Miss
as they did last night in the Sugar Bowl.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
I totally agree that he wanted to be missed, but
I think it was something else, not just that he
wanted to be missed. Dan he wanted to be right.
He said he was leaving because he wanted to go
win a championship. So right now you have left a
championship caliber team. And so he wanted to be right
in saying that I left because this team couldn't get there.
(05:02):
Oh so I agree he wanted to be missed, but
more than any I think he wants to be right.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
And not only not only did they beat Georgia last night,
they avenged the loss from the regular season when they
lost in Athens, when ole Miss had a sizeable lead
in that game only to have Georgia kind of take
over in the fourth quarter. So last night, in a
game where ole Miss is the one that makes the comeback,
there was a point where it felt like Georgia had
(05:28):
regained the momentum. And in a three point game, they're
driving for a touchdown, and there were calls that were
leading up to that point that sure seemed to go
in Georgia's favor, a face mask call, other things happening.
I mean, Georgia kind of panicked and going for it
when they did on the fourth down and Old Miss territory.
But to the Bulldog's credit, they were able to rebound.
(05:50):
And it's a three point game and Georgia's got a
gold to goal situation and I'm just thinking to myself,
this is the part where Georgia wins and the Old
Miss story comes to an end and we're all sad. Instead,
they held them to a field goal and then they
drive down and they kicked their own field goal to
win the game.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
You did feel like within the two minutes that it
was going away from Ole Miss, just for just for
the sense of you were running out of time. You know,
like it wasn't that they weren't doing it's just like,
oh my goodness, you're about to run out of time
after this great three third quarter started the fourth quarter,
and then they managed to still get the win. And
the end of that game, did anyone know what happened?
(06:29):
No one knows what happened at the end of that game.
It was a stage out three times. Dan, I know
they looked the stage out three times.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
It reminds you if you see that TikTok clip where
the guys carrying the bench across the floor in like
the eighth grade game, and some kids got to like
hurdle it because anyway, that was like just there was
ice on the field that they had already dallased peak
Golding with the Gator Rays. So they had to peak.
Golding took a picture with his kids, and then they
had to run two more plays. There was a point
(06:58):
where he's on the field and somebody's like, Cay, can
we get a photo, and he stopped because he had
his kids there, took a picture. They had to move
off because they reviewed the backwards pass on the kickoff.
They realized that there was enough time, and so then
they did the onside kick and it was covered by
Georgia on the ground and they thought all that was over.
That lost a second. Uh uh. By the way, another
(07:20):
reason why you need tens of a second on the
clock in college football. That is another reason. The official
in the booth at ESPN says, well, if you just
recover it on the ground, no time elapses in that portion.
But we just thought as soon as the one hit
and you touch the football, it expires and the game
is over. Not so fast, my friend, as Lee Corso
(07:42):
would say, yeah, Mazi, it took forever. It took like
fifteen minutes. It felt like guys at Buffalo Wild Wings
were just going crazy trying to get the overtime button,
trying to keep this game go, to keep going and
going and going and going.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
No, it was. It was an awesome ending because it
was hilarious as you just saw it unravel like it's over. No,
it's not, it's over. There's a stage a third time.
Don't take the stage away. But despite all of that,
ole Miss pulls off this win in a convincing way.
They didn't just win it because Georgia lost it, right,
(08:17):
They won it because they came back exactly, came back
in the second half. They adjusted, and they took you down.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
I don't think that the Georgia fourth down call wasn't great,
but no, Ole Miss made plays in that game to win.
And that's what then now makes this so intriguing because Manti,
I think that you hit it on the head of
Ole Miss proving Lane Kiffen wrong that he thinks he
can win a championship at LSU. I think he thinks
(08:44):
he can win multiple championships at LSU. I don't think
that he thought that he could win multiple championships at
all Miss. But last night I think was a perfect
example of addition by subtraction. I don't know, oh, I
don't know if ole Miss wins that game with Lane
Kiffin last night. I don't know if that happens. There
(09:06):
seems to be something else going on with this ole
Miss team. And I know they played a game with
him or without him already, but just the way that
they respond and kind of just don't want this thing
to end, I got that sense there isn't they chip
on their shoulder if lane Kiffin stays right, and I
feel that there is now that there is something to prove.
(09:27):
And these players, some of whom will follow lane kiffen
to LSU and transfer to be an LSU Tiger. There
are players on ole Miss's team that will do that
and get their NIL money. But if Lane Kiffin is
on the sidelines last night for ole Miss, Georgia is
in the semi finals of the college football Playoff. I
think it was his dismissed, his leaving and his absence
(09:51):
last night, and how Pete Golding and the staff have
rallied the players that allowed them to pull off the
upset last night. Not that it was a carbon copy
of the g game that they played in Athens where
they had a lead and let it go, but it
was the opposite. They had their own lead, let it
go and then came back and without with lane Kiffin,
there that's what happens with Lane Kiffin there. I don't
(10:13):
think it happens last night.
Speaker 3 (10:14):
Yeah, It's like what pushes a team to just have
an edge over another team, And it looks like for
ole Miss, I agree with you, losing Lane Kiffin or
Lane Kiffin walking away from them has propelled something beyond
just wanting to win from probably what they want to
do obviously with him. But even with that, Trinidad Chambliss
doesn't know if he's gonna play again. He's fighting to
(10:36):
get more eligibility, which, listen, I love that guy. I
love watching him play. You can't play another year, my guy, Like,
you just can't. I don't think you should because then
it gets messier and messy here. And that's a whole
different conversation. So he's also he doesn't know what he's
gonna do, you know what I mean? Like his story
alone within the story of ole Miss, Yeah, is great him.
You know what I'm saying. Listen, the story of Trinidad
(10:57):
Chambliss is great by itself. Then you have the whole
story of Old Miss fighting because Lane Keivin is an idiot.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
I want to bring in Jason Stewart because one of
the reasons I'm an idiot is I complained about some
of the rematches that we had in the college football
bracket and this being one of them, this being a
very SEC centric matchup, but it sure seemed to expand
well outside of the SEC lines, especially for you.
Speaker 4 (11:18):
So this this speaks to how well I follow college
football and enjoy it. I barely knew this was a rematch,
so I became a massive ole Miss fan. Given the
entire Lane Kiffin ordeal, I think I was one of
many people that are massive ole Miss fans and temporary
old Miss fans, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching them last night,
(11:42):
and I was fully behind them and on this guy.
I was watching, and I was learning new things about
this team that I'm sure you knew all along. And
then you start learning like the little social media things,
like like when Kiffin's first post was a flag, and
I'm thinking, there's no way in heck that a Confederate
flag is in our emoji system. Why would he put
(12:05):
a Confederate flag out there, knowing the history of the program.
And then you go and you search and it's a
Trinidad flag. Oh, Trinidad's the name of the quarterback, all
these things I'm playing ketchup on. But it's a great experience. Yeah,
and then just watching them and knowing him the way
he must have taken a kind of it was like
one of those he took it with the pride. It
(12:26):
was a punch to his pride. But then you read
that he got a five hundred thousand dollars bonus and
you're like, that feels dirty, and that's probably why he
worked that into negotiation. But anyways, it was a great
experience last night. I really enjoyed watching that.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
In the game that again I thought that only a
certain region of the company, and then off of what
happened in the game prior that maybe people would be like, Okay,
you know, this Indiana story is crazy to see. I
don't know if ole Miss topped it, but it sure
gave it a unique chapter of its own last night.
And to think Lane Kiffin and to then hear the
(13:01):
stories of Lane Kiffin wanting to go on college game day,
thought about going to the Sugar Bowl himself, which would
have been a complete distraction. How about ole Miss winning
in Louisiana, like just in that, in that representation and
in the state that now I know it's not Baton Rouge,
but Beaton Rouge ain't far from New Orleans, so but
just the representation was really really yeah, it was just
(13:23):
it was an awesome atmosphere and for the for the
energy or lack thereof. And I don't blame Oregon and
I don't blame Texas Tech, but there was just nothing
buzzworthy about the Orange Bowl, which started early, and Oregon
had a travel across the country. But when you look
at what happened with the Rose Bowl with the crowd
there every year, Rose Bowl has great crowds. But when
you put two SEC teams in the Sugar Bowl, like
(13:45):
we talk about the Rose Bowl maybe being a spot
where a national championship game should always be held. Maybe
as we're looking at the bracket here, and I know
that Greg Sankei and the SEC wouldn't want this, but
if you're putting in five or six SEC schools, have
them always play in the Sugar Bowl, because that's the
sort of atmosphere that you would get to be able
to fill it out, let alone having a coach leave
(14:07):
a team and abandon a team prior to their run
and get revenge on another team that they lost to
earlier on in the season. All of that came into play,
But there was a lot of good with the college
football playoff in the way that it worked out, and
I didn't see it happening this way Monty actually did.
We'll get to that a little bit later on. That's
kind of why I'm an idiot, because I thought New
Year's Day was an absolute win for college football and
(14:27):
what a win for Ole Miss.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
What a win for Ole Miss. But I agree with
you that that Oregon Texas Tech game, it was like
what you played today? This meant something. It had no like,
no aura, no, not nothing to it.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
It was not cinema. That's what the kids like to say.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
Yes it was not cinema. That does that mean, right, cinema?
Speaker 2 (14:48):
Yeah, it was not cinema. There was You're right, there
was no aura.
Speaker 4 (14:51):
No.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
On a scale of one to one hundred, I gave
it a six seven. That's what I did. We'll continue
that in twenty twenty six. She is Mancey Belangio's dan
Byer Iowa Sam as a college football fan, how great
was yesterday on New Year's Day? For you? In watching football?
Just as as someone who loves the sport.
Speaker 5 (15:10):
I certainly think that the ole Miss Georgia game made
up for some I mean, listen the the the Alabama
and Indiana and the Oregon Texas Tech games, Like we're
not competitive, So Georgia Georgia ole Miss made.
Speaker 2 (15:27):
Up for a lot of that.
Speaker 5 (15:27):
Yeah, and then the night before you know, I'm sorry
to your Buckeyes, but at least that was more competitive.
And I think we're just trying to avoid these like
huge blood games.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
That's and we're going to dive into that because I think,
like this is where like I think Sam and I
are on the same point, but I I feel like
I have to admit that I'm wrong on some stuff.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
Yes this is yeah, you were wrong. But just to
Sam's point that I actually think even though Indiana blew
out Alabama, Indiana was fun to watch.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
Yeah it was.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
We're gonna set out Texas Tech. And I couldn't tell.
Speaker 5 (15:57):
You one thing that happened in that game that was
also I mean, those were two surprising results.
Speaker 3 (16:01):
I couldn't tell you one play that stood out in
my mind. I could see for Nana Mendoza making throws
in the third quarter, you know what I mean, Like
that game was so boring I don't remember anything of it.
Even though the other one was a blowout, it had moments,
it was so it's so different, even though they were
both blowouts.

Speaker 2 (16:27):
Jarinning us now, fresh off of a New Year's celebration
and a great day of college football. Former Buccaneers GM
Mark Dominic joins us here on Fox Sports Radio. Hey Mark,
Happy New Year.
Speaker 6 (16:39):
How are you happy New Year? I'm great. Looking forward
to some more football over the next couple days as well.
Speaker 2 (16:44):
Yeah, let's uh, I how much do you watch what
transpired yesterday? I know there's an NFL I, but obviously
some of these guys are going to be in the
NFL at some point in their in their lives. How
do you watch a New Year's Day triple header with
the top quality of football that we had yesterday?
Speaker 6 (17:01):
Well, you know, it's hard. Sometimes I'm able to keep
myself and plant down in front of a TV and
watch the entire thing and just enjoy it, And sometimes
I'm able to catch pieces of it. I'm not going
to be acting like I watched something I didn't see,
but I was able to watch a lot more of
the I'd say the Old Miss Georgia game that that
was the one that probably put the most time into.
But we've got four teams in here that you know,
(17:22):
I've seen all season long, and you know, I don't know,
you know, I find it fascinating what Saban said about Miami.
It seems to be coming true how dangerous they may be.
But I'm just I don't think anybody really understands how
good Indiana really is because it just feels so out
of place.
Speaker 3 (17:37):
Hey, Mark, Happy New Year. Let's start here with Trinidad Chambliss.
What do you see as maybe this ceiling for him?
Or does he go to the NFL. I know he's
trying to get another year of eligibility, but what do
you see in Trinidad Chambliss?
Speaker 6 (17:52):
Yeah, so I think he's a very exciting football player
to watch when you when you watch him and just
what he's able to do for Old Miss. It has
been amazing for his you know, production and him just
tossing the ball around the field. I really, you know,
I like that he's coming here from where it was
Fair State. If I remember, yeah, and then really played
exceptionally well. And what I love about what he's done
(18:14):
was the fact that his touchdown interception ratio is so strong. Right,
just the three turnovers this year, that has been a
big piece of why he's been so effective. He just
doesn't turn the ball over and he's still running the
ball effectively as well. I hope he gets one more year.
I don't think it's a bad thing for to play
one more college football. He's still only twenty three years old,
and knowing that, you know, if you get into this
(18:36):
league and play for a long time, you could play
your mid thirties, late thirties as we're seeing now. So
it'd be great for him to see another season to
kind of build on what he's done. But if he
decides to make the jump, you know, I feel like
people are going to enjoy getting to know him from
a character standpoint.
Speaker 2 (18:52):
I've already started to hear it. Mark Dominic joining us
here on Fox Sports Radio. She's Monte Bolanos, I'm Dan Beyer,
Fernando Mendoza, the Heisman troll winner, Indiana's number one. They're
rolling on possible potential number one overall pick. When you
see a guy like Mendoza, does he have the qualities
of someone that you would want to take number one overall?
Speaker 6 (19:12):
Well Field like it, right, I mean everything seems to
be coming together in terms of like his production and
his play and obviously what he's done. You know, with
the Maxwell Award and the Walter Campy He's won just
about every award you can win, right, so he's kind of,
you know, checked the box there. I think the big
thing for me is just getting to know the player.
(19:32):
I think what you like about him is that every
year he's improved, whether it's completion percentages, yards, touchdowns, et cetera.
He's gotten better and better and better. And that's what
you like to see in any player. He's certainly got
a lot of production and a lot of play time
underneath his belt, which makes you feel good with three
full seasons in that regard in terms of cal and
then obviously Indiana this year. You know, the thing that
(19:53):
and I've talked about this a little bit, is is
getting to know the character of the kid. Kind of
like what we just talked about is is this time
you can spend with them to understand what makes them
tick and how do they tick and how do they
handle the locker room? And it's not just meaning the
quarterbacks guys, right, it's also just talking to the coaching staff,
the equipment staff, the trainers, the other players on the
(20:14):
team and getting a sense of what is what's he
like as a leader, who did he hang out with?
Who are his best friends on the team. All those
things kind of come together to find out is the
guy worthy of being you know, this number one pick
over on the draft, and we're going to get to
know about that. But Mendoza certainly put himself in a
great position so far.
Speaker 3 (20:30):
Let's shift gears here and go to the NFL. Some
divisions are still up for grabs, NFC South Panthers and Buccaneers.
Can you pinpoint what happened in the downfall with Tampa
Bay this year?
Speaker 6 (20:45):
Yeah, that's an amazing drop And it's just been shocking
to me to watch this team that you know, started
the season so strong and now they're not even in
control of their own destiny. And that's that's you know,
that's amazing because they at that buy, I think there
were six and two at the buy and they've only
won one game since, and you know, it's been I
think very frustrated organizationally. I mean, they've had four straight
losses in a row of under four less points and
(21:08):
any one of those turn and this is a little
bit different of the season. It's hard for me to
really point the but I think it's the offensive, you know,
just the offenses. And I don't want to just put
on the coordinator, but certainly the pieces of the offense.
It doesn't feel like it's you know, functioning the way
it had over the last couple of years. Hence that's
why those two guys have gone on to be head coaches.
You think about the Buccaneers last year and they were
(21:29):
averaging almost thirty points a game, especially down the stretch.
They were crushing it. You know, this year when you
look at them, they're averaging closer to that twenty two
to twenty four points a game and the touchdowns, you know,
the difference between them winning the last four games, right,
So I think it's just, you know, you can have
the same players, but play calling is an art and
it takes time and it's hard to do, and it's
(21:49):
a lot harder to do when you're in the boot
than when you're on the couch because you're like oh,
we always run, but you're like, you got to set
up the run. So I do think it's in the
offense whether they've learned enough and feel comfortable keep moving forward.
I don't see a big change. I don't see Todd
Bowles being let go. To me having worked for the
Blazers and nineteen years there, I think maybe they would
(22:10):
make a change of coordinator potentially, but I think that
would be the only real change I think, because I
think when you look at the roster from an offensive standpoint,
and Mike Evan's not being around this year with his
injury certainly is a big piece of that too.
Speaker 2 (22:21):
Mark Dominic joining us here on Fox Sports Radio, he
said it himself, twenty years more than twenty years in
NFL front office's former GM of the Buccaneers, joining Monci
Bolanios and myself. Dan Byer here on Fox Sports Radio.
Aaron Rodgers admitted that he's got options coming up. Also
admitted that maybe not as many options as others or
options that he once had, but he is going to
(22:42):
be a free agent. Do you think playing in twenty
twenty six is a realistic possibility for the now Steelers quarterback?
Speaker 6 (22:50):
I actually don't I think he's done. I think this
is his last run my gun in seas. This is
Aaron's final role through the National Football League, and hopefully,
you know, for him and for the Steelers organization, they
get to go to the postseason with it and see
what he can do. But it just feels like to me,
every year feels harder, longer, tougher, and when you think
(23:12):
about his stats and his legacy, at least you know,
he feels like he's riding out on a much more
Aaron Rodgers type of season. I know the yards aren't
there like he's used to, but the touchdowns, the interceptions,
the ability to be in the postseason or potential to
put them in the postseason all as part of it.
I think with the loss, I think I'm certain he's retired.
I think with the win, it's just kind of the
(23:32):
only thing would be is how far can they get
in the postseason if that gets the adrenaline going. But
I truly believe that this errands last year.
Speaker 3 (23:39):
What do you think happens with Daniel Jones and the Colts.
Speaker 6 (23:44):
Yeah, I think there's a great story. I think you
can find common ground there in terms of some type
of a deal. Maybe it's it's it's something a little
bit obviously like a Baker Mayfield mindset. It's going to
be a big piece, is you know, and I assume
that you know, the GM the head coach will both
be back. But I think it's going to be in
(24:06):
that range where they're gonna they're going to look and say, hey,
how can we how can we rework this contract? And
I know it's just that what was a one year,
fourteen nion dollars deal?
Speaker 4 (24:16):
You know.
Speaker 6 (24:16):
I think the agent and that the player both would
be wise to kind of stay where they are for
another year, uh and and just kind of build on
it and continue to build on continuity instead of change, change,
change for the sake of change. He's gotten money in
his pocket. I mean, he's made what one hundred and
twenty million dollars in his career ready. So this is
about Daniel Jones making the right career move. And I
think the right career move for him is a stay put.
(24:37):
So I think you find something that's built with incentives,
you're going to have to get that number, probably the
twenty five to thirty in the base just because of
the quarterback position. But I think you can build a
lot more into play times, snaps, touchdowns, you know, postseason,
all those things, to build it up to a more reasonable,
you know, one year deal potentially, to see what you
can do. I'd like to do a one year deal
(24:58):
from the coast to make sure I believe even what
I've seen, it's a healthy I think for Daniel Jones,
a one year deal you know, gives him, you know,
more stability, but a chance to bite that apple really
in twenty twenty seven.
Speaker 2 (25:09):
I think it's so intriguing on so many different levels
because I mean, there's there's no guarantee he's one hundred
percent from from this injury next season. You also have
Anthony Richardson, who you've given opportunities to so much, and
then now he doesn't seem a part of your future.
But you're probably not gonna pick up his fifth year option.
(25:32):
I wouldn't think that you would if you're Indianapolis. But
I have no idea what the future of Richardson is.
But it's also in a way mark where Jones may
have been sought, you know, sought after throughout the league
if he was fully healthy, and now the Chiefs get him.
I just the whole scenario to me is I have
no idea where they're gonna find this middle ground, and
with all the other pieces moving around, That's why I
(25:54):
just I find it fascinating in Indianapolis.
Speaker 6 (25:57):
No, I do too. And again, if I'm the if
I can build something with a lot of it, and I
know this contray had some incentive bases also, but you know,
build something with playtime percentage, build something with wins, build
something with postseason and be able to put something in
front of Daniel Jones that could get to you know,
forty forty five maybe even up to fifty million dollars
based off of you know, if you can take us
(26:18):
to the Super Bowl and win it. Sure, I think
every owner's sign up for that. But I think at
the same point to your point, ideally for the Colts
is like I I'd rather, you know, I'm happy to
pay more in a year from now to prove that
you can stay on the football field and you can
do this again. The sad thing for Daniel Jones is
besides his rookie year, he's still never thrown for more
(26:38):
than what twenty touchdowns and only his rookie year, so
he hasn't done anything to say, hey, let's get over
the top and let's just go make this payday. And
so I think that both sides really need to understand
that the best move, truly is for him just to
stay put one more year, build on what he's learned,
stay in the same system, and then you know, in
(26:58):
twenty twenty seven, become a free agent, or you know,
the tag is right around the corner.
Speaker 2 (27:02):
It's Friday, Black Monday is coming up fast. Sometimes it's
black Sunday night after after some of these games. Do
you have a ballpark number on how many vacancies that
we could see coming up after Sunday's games.
Speaker 6 (27:18):
Yes, It's it's tough because there's there's some teams out
there that you know, obviously have already made changes. I do.
I do think the Raiders will be one and done.
I do feel like that's going to be Pete Carroll's
going to be in. Peek Carroll will be out. Yep,
nothing against Pete Carroll specifically, but it's just, you know,
I just don't see the future there, and I think
(27:41):
you want a younger coach to jump in there and
kind of be the Mike Tomlin so to speak, or
the John Harbaugh where he's going to be there for.
You know, you're looking for a fifteen twenty year coach
and that's what you're hoping to find. And I think
there's some really interesting younger coaches that are coming through
the systems right now. My guy. You usually we see
what six to eight total openings. I feel like we're
going to get the lower end of that. You know,
(28:02):
a lot of people are clamoring for Heem Morris. I
think he holds on for another season, you know, those
kind of jobs. I have a feeling I think Arizona
probably stays put is just because of Kyler Murray in
that situation. So I don't feel like we're going to
see quite as much extreme, but I still think we'll
probably be you know, when it's also and done, probably
at least six openings.
Speaker 2 (28:22):
Well, we'll find out next week and we'll be talking
about those openings because they likely will be open when
we talk to you next Mark. We appreciate it. Enjoy
Week eighteen and happy New Year.
Speaker 6 (28:31):
Thanks so much, Happy New Year. Thanks for having me on.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
Guys. She's Manty Belanos, I'm Dan Byer. It is Fox
Sports Radio. I think about five or six there's there's
all these also these rumblings about if the Browns end
up making a move with Kevin Stefanski land somewhere, and
then if the Browns make a move, would Cleveland be
interested and maybe Mike McDaniel of Miami something that we'll
(28:54):
get into. But I would say six, if I were
to put a number on it, I would say six
head coaches get relieved of their duties. He said the
low of six or eight, I thought about a handful
plus one, So I'm saying six.
Speaker 3 (29:10):
Just scanning through it, I feel like he six.
Speaker 2 (29:14):
Got you already.
Speaker 3 (29:14):
Yeah, Raiders, he thinks, I agree, agree, I agree with
that one.
Speaker 2 (29:18):
Jason Stewart is thinking, and j E. T s Jets
Jets Jets. I hope so as as an.
Speaker 3 (29:25):
Opening, I think that has an opening. I do really
think that maybe Arizona.
Speaker 2 (29:32):
I agree. I side with you. Mark thinks said Jonathan
Gannon is safe. I don't think that that is the case.
Speaker 3 (29:38):
I don't think so either. And I know, I know
two people have already told me that Todd Bowles isn't
going anywhere. And I don't know how Tampa Bay does
not look at the situation. It's just like, yeah, I
don't know. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (29:50):
I think where he Morris saved this job with the
Falcons win against the Buccaneers and then what they did
against the Rams. Yeah, yeah, I think that there was
like prior to that, there were a lot of questions.
But Mark Dominic thinks that Raheem Morris is safe. I
think I think there could be a surprise, Like I
think that there could be a move with with Kevin Stefanski.
I think that McDaniel stays with the Dolphins. But then
(30:12):
if that happens, is there's some sort of move something
that we'll all get into. But I think six is
going to end up being the number that we get.
Maybe seven there could be a huge surprise you'll find
out maybe if a team, you know, crashes out in
the playoffs, somebody's like, all right, we'll move on from them.
Plus you have the Raider, the Ravens and Steelers situations,
(30:33):
right J I don't think Harbon Tomlin, I really don't
think that they're in jeopardy, but they could be a
part of the conversation.
Speaker 3 (30:39):
Agree. I don't think they're in a hot seat, but
I think the seat is warm, yes, for both, But
it's like it's not hot, it's so.
Speaker 2 (30:47):
Warm, and I think that how these seasons have played out,
there is going to be a there's going to be
a tipping point, and I just don't think that we've
gotten there yet.
Speaker 1 (30:56):
Fox Sports Radio had the best sports talk lineup in
the nation yet. All of our shows at Fox sports
Radio dot com and within the iHeartRadio app, it's.
Speaker 2 (31:06):
Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports Radio twenty twenty six. She's
Manzi Bolagos. I'm Dan Bayer.
Speaker 3 (31:12):
It's gonna take me a minute to get that into
my repertoire that it's twenty twenty six.
Speaker 2 (31:17):
Just wait till you write one of the five checks
that you'll write this year, and I'll hit just smack
dab in the face instead of writing a two five
hit Mancy up at Manzie Bolognos. You can find me
at Dan Bayer on Fox Time Now for our Tireraq
Play of the Day courtesy of David Kellum at Learfield
forty seven yard effort for Lucas Carnero, transfer from Western
(31:42):
Kentucky in his first year at Old Miss Georgia, trying
to block it. There's the kick, and it's on its way, and.
Speaker 1 (31:47):
It's got the distance and it's through the upright the
rebels help taking the lane.
Speaker 2 (31:53):
For over forty years, Tyrak has been helping customers find
the right tires for how, what and where they drive.
Ship Fast and Free backed by free Road, has a
protection with convenient installation options like mobile tire installation, tire
Act dot Com. The way tire buying should be ole
Miss with the go ahead field goal because then ultimately
there was the safety and then there was the outside kick.
(32:15):
Could have been a walk off, but there were still
a couple of seconds left. Ole Miss's field goal to
break the tie is our tire Act Player of the day.
Speaker 3 (32:23):
Yeah, we could have used their final final final call,
you know, because they thought it was over. But like
their final final final one where they're like bring the
stage out finally, Like we could have used that one.
We could have used a Kawhi Leonard. I mean, you
know whatever, a Clippers won six in a roads. Fine, No,
it's fine. We'll talk about a college football mark.
Speaker 2 (32:39):
Yeah, no, and we absolutely should, absolutely should. Jason wants
to talk about some check writing. Ready to write twenty
twenty six on a good old check Jason.
Speaker 4 (32:52):
When you said that, when you said the two or
three I don't know. Maybe you just said four or
five checks that you will write this year. I don't
think I've written a check in two or three years.
I know Sam has like the oldest landlord in the
history of time, and they still want them to put
the personal check in the mail with a stamp in
(33:12):
an envelope. But it's just so outdated. I don't remember
the last time I wrote a check. What what do
you write checks for? Honestly?
Speaker 2 (33:20):
So I write a check for our gardener, okay, And
the reason being the number one, Our yard is small.
We don't have a place to store a lawnmower in
the whole deal. So it just makes sense. The guy
does the neighbor's yard, he does ours. I don't want
to make it sound bougie that we have a gardener.
(33:41):
It's just different. In southern California people do here. Everybody does, yeah,
but I don't know a lot very affordable. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (33:47):
In the Midwest people do their own, yeah, and they're
they're bigger lawns.
Speaker 2 (33:50):
So let's be honest, Like, we have a small lawn.
So I used to pay him in cash and then
he forgot once and then he like builled me for
and I'm like, no, I paid you in cash, and
so for everyone involved, I write him a check because
then because he did take previously, then I'm like, I'll
just pay in cash. And then when he forgot, I'm like,
(34:10):
all right, I'm just gonna so everybody. So I write
him a check every month. Makes sense, so at least
so twelve.
Speaker 3 (34:16):
So you're the three. You're one of the three people
that still gets checks.
Speaker 2 (34:20):
Think correct, yes, correct, write in the memo the invoice
of the date, so he knows. But you'd be surprised
that how many people can't write out like whatever and
zero one hundred dollars because that's a it's a lost
lost art. If you will, I.
Speaker 5 (34:36):
Like writing the scent sign, I'll be like, and zero
cents out of one hundred, and then I'll do the
cent sign because no one the sense sign is a
long lost thing.
Speaker 2 (34:44):
See the end of my check, say dollars. I know,
so I do zero zero slash one hundred dollars, so
no CeNSE of that dollar.
Speaker 4 (34:52):
It does remind me who's going to be writing checks
to Sauce Gardener next next year. That would be the
Colts right under contract. Yes, okay, that kind of it
kind of impacts the joke, but still funny. You guys
get it. Yeah, Gardner, who's gonna write checks?
Speaker 2 (35:09):
To Gardner? Who's gonna write checks? Aaron Rodgers? You know
what I think it's gonna say, Ziggy Wilf, owner of
the Minnesota Vikings. Who I think it's. I think it's Ripe.
I think I think when you tell JJ McCarthy that
you're bringing in Aaron Rodgers, we know Rogers had an
interest there. The quarterback situation in Minnesota could not have
(35:30):
gone worse than it did this year. So I disagree
Dominic says that it's done. I just think that Aaron
Rodgers sees Justin Jefferson, sees Jordan Addison, sees these targets
and these weapons and thinks, great, I don't have to
throw to a suspended DK Metcalf or I have to
throw to Marquez Valdez Scantling. Like at least Minnesota would
(35:52):
be a a fresh start with better weapons, and I
don't know if they'd win a Super Bowl. I don't
know if he doesn't want to do the far thing
again and go to go to the team that Farv
played for, But I think he is looking to go
to Minnesota, and when he said he had few options,
I think that's one of the options.
Speaker 3 (36:10):
Yeah, I actually think that he's playing again. I agree
with you, and I think Philip Rivers coming back to
play pushed him to continue to the point because he's like,
if you're gonna call me off the couch, might as
well just play again. Yes, you know, when he sees
that somebody literally like Philip Rivers was brought in, he's like,
(36:31):
what do you mean I can't do this another year?
Like that's how I would think too, Like I don't
blame him. I think maybe he was mulling retirement. And
then that kind of was like, you know what, I
got one more in me?
Speaker 2 (36:41):
I heard an exhale?
Speaker 1 (36:43):
Was it?
Speaker 2 (36:43):
Somebody went in on, Oh did you hear it?
Speaker 3 (36:46):
I did? I heard something that.
Speaker 5 (36:47):
Iowa, Sam, that's probably me in my amazing voice, like
mumbling something at you over that you talk back here.
Speaker 1 (36:53):
The uh.
Speaker 2 (36:55):
The fact is I thought at week eight, Aaron Rodgers
was done. Yeah, I thought it. Week twelve Aaron Rodgers.
And now if they win the division and beat Baltimore
on Sunday night, I think it shows all right, there
is a little more left in the Tank and I
think he's had fun. Yeah, I think he wants to
do it again.
Speaker 3 (37:14):
And I like what you said about Minnesota. That's a
perfect landing spot. Yeah, perfect landing spot.
Speaker 2 (37:18):
Sorry. JJ McCarthy like Shape nine right. Yes, yeah, he's
going to replace JJ McCarthy, but he'll never replace nine.
That is impossible. She's Monzie Belangios. I'm Dan Byer, Jason
Stewart Iowa, Sam and Isaac Lowincron are here, and so
are the Indiana Hoosiers. Whether you like it or not,
that's next
