Speaker 4 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. That is eight
seven seven ninety nine on Fox. Jessica Smettana is with
us the rare guest promoting someone else's project.
Speaker 5 (00:38):
She's engaged to someone else.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
I know, I know, we'll get to that in just
a second, but I believe she may love Master's Week
as much as I do. She has a Master's jacket
on right now and beg end she just got back
from a golf lesson.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
That is what Master's Week is all about. Jess Well done.
Speaker 6 (00:55):
Two guys.
Speaker 7 (00:55):
I normally I made an exception for you today. I
normally don't work.
Speaker 6 (00:59):
This this late in the year, even at the coast here.
Speaker 7 (01:01):
So you really got me straight off the golf course.
Speaker 6 (01:03):
Working on my swing.
Speaker 7 (01:04):
And might I say, yeah, some of the best drives
of my life today, they really fix my swing. I'm
ready to go for the goal of Subpark Classic in
a couple of weeks itself.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
Then is that why you got the lesson?
Speaker 7 (01:15):
It is exactly why I got the lesson. You know,
we're playing in a scramble Stea gouts. I get to
drive from the front tees, so I could theoretically.
Speaker 6 (01:23):
Give my team a big advantage.
Speaker 7 (01:24):
Yes, but the drive needs to end up on the fairway, okay,
and right now they're going to the right.
Speaker 6 (01:29):
It's not looking so hot.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
Lessons could be a very dangerous game though.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
They trick you into thinking you're a good golfer, and
then you get out there and there are people watching
and you choke.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
You know what I'm saying, Well.
Speaker 6 (01:39):
There's also like you.
Speaker 7 (01:41):
This is golf, I guess, no matter whether it's a
lesson or just playing. But like, you fix one thing
and then it leads to another problem. Then you got
to fix that thing, and then you got to do
you know, like it's it's a vicious cycle. So the
less you think about is sometimes the better off you are.
And then a lesson all you're doing is.
Speaker 5 (01:53):
Thinking about I couldn't imagine playing in one of these
because all I'm worried about is the people who are
watching just standing in very anger spots because I could
hit anyone anywhere at any time.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
I've seen it. I mean, how do we get invited
to this goldic golf event? Seriously? Like, can you help
us out?
Speaker 6 (02:13):
I think you got to buy a foursome. I'm sorry,
I'm not doing that. Yeah, I know it's a good cause.
Speaker 8 (02:19):
So the problem with this is Golic invites you Stu Gotts,
I know he does.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
He just knows that you're not going to go, so well,
he knows I'm not paying for a foursome. That's what
he knows.
Speaker 8 (02:28):
He's just giving up the idea of even wasting like
the resources to print your invitation. He's like, this is
this is just gonna go right in the trash.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
I promise this year I'll attend and I will pay
for a foursome. So Jess, can you get it done me?
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Is he? Taylor? Mikey A, how about that.
Speaker 7 (02:45):
I'll see what I can do to guys. We're kind
of coming in hot under the wire here.
Speaker 6 (02:50):
The tournament moved up a couple months, so I don't know.
We'll see what I can do.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
All right. When is the tournament?
Speaker 6 (02:55):
It is the end of April.
Speaker 7 (02:57):
Notre Dame Spring game weekend, Blue Gold game on Saturday,
A little golf on Friday, tailgate Saturday morning should be
a fun time.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
How about I buy a foursome? You get us to
sit down with Marcus Freeman. What do you think I think.
Speaker 6 (03:09):
I could Actually, I'll see what I can do.
Speaker 5 (03:12):
Really, even if he's standing, that's fine too.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
Better I know people, Yes, Gino Ariema, is he the
biggest blee poll in sports?
Speaker 2 (03:21):
What do you think?
Speaker 8 (03:22):
He's always been this guy?
Speaker 5 (03:24):
He has?
Speaker 6 (03:25):
Thank you? Is he? He has always been this guy?
Speaker 7 (03:27):
And I have to say as someone who you know,
Notre Dame women's basketball fan my whole life, Muffett McGrath fan,
my whole life. I was levitating on Friday night when
he made a total ass of himself during the Final
Four during what should have been you know, for one
seeds in the final four.
Speaker 6 (03:46):
It's a big night.
Speaker 7 (03:46):
You know, we're gonna get some good basketball in the games.
I thought they were both pretty good. They you know,
weren't the most weren't the best offensive nights for any
of the teams playing. But I thought from a dramatic
standpoint South Carolina coming back and beat Yukon after last
year when Yukon played him off the court in the
championship game. Thought that was very dramatic without all the theatrics.
And then, you know, kind of halfway into the game,
(04:08):
the theatrics start when Gino claims that South Carolina tour
Sarah Strong's uniform and then ESPN rolls back the tape
turns out she.
Speaker 6 (04:15):
Tore her own jersey, I mean, and then with the.
Speaker 7 (04:20):
Handshake accusations at the end, that was just completely uncalled for.
And you know, like I said, as a as a
Muffett McGrath fan, there's he's been.
Speaker 6 (04:29):
He's had barbs.
Speaker 7 (04:30):
With other legendary women's head coaches his entire career, Pat Summit,
Tara Vanderveer, Muffet McGrath, you know, all the all the icons,
all the legends of the sport, and you know people
you could say say he's the greatest of all time.
Speaker 6 (04:44):
I think he is.
Speaker 7 (04:44):
He's won twelve championships, he's put you know, dozens and
dozens of players in the WNBA, had some of the
best players of all time play for his program. There's
no denying how great of a head coach he is.
But I think for people who have said, like me
for a long time, like yeah, he's great, but he's
a jerk, it feels a little validating, That's all I'm going.
Speaker 5 (05:02):
He's right up there with me Jess in terms of
greats who have just a complete lack of self awareness
at times with Lebron which he famously infamously said something
that lacks self awareness recently as well, and so with Gino,
Like I look at other coaches like your Chicago Bears
absolutely punked Matt Lafleur, Ben Johnson did the you know,
the BS handshake walking. You didn't hear Matt Lafleur whining
(05:25):
about it afterward, Like, I just don't understand how Arima,
who's been at the top of his sport for so long,
just doesn't understand how that looks. Or maybe he does
understand it doesn't really I think he doesn't care.
Speaker 7 (05:34):
Yeah, I don't think he cares, because I think this
is the problem with people who are sore losers, right,
is he They're not used to losing.
Speaker 6 (05:41):
He's not used to losing.
Speaker 7 (05:43):
His team was on a fifty four game win streak
prior to this game against South Carolina. They had the
National Player of the Year, Sarah Strong on their team.
Speaker 6 (05:51):
They have the probably first overall draft.
Speaker 7 (05:55):
Pick in the upcoming WM draft and Easy Fudd, although
that I think is a little bit up for debate
because of how she prefer formed in the tournament. Now,
they were I think they were the runaway favorites to
win the title, and so I think he was not
expecting to be metaphorically punched in the mouth by the
South Carolina team. They really really played an outstanding defensive
(06:16):
game and Don Staley frankly coached circles around him, So
I don't think he was expecting that.
Speaker 6 (06:20):
I think he thought that, you.
Speaker 7 (06:21):
Know, like last year was his national championship moment with
Paige Becker as a player that you know, meant a
lot to that program. And it came after an eight
year title draught where people said for a long time,
Gino loss his fastball, and there's a new era of
women's basketball and there's parody now, and you know, Don
Staley is the duw Gino rim or whoever. And I
think that he kind of, you know, was back on
(06:44):
top of the mountain and it felt really good.
Speaker 6 (06:46):
And then goes through this whole.
Speaker 7 (06:47):
Season, wins all these games, and then you know, lo
and behold, you fall off the mountain. And I don't
think he knew how to handle it, and I really
don't think he cared. And the fact that he doubled
down on it after the game and said, you know,
it is what it is, and kept going with it
and not apologizing until the next day when he put
out a written statement, not nothing said in person. The
statement didn't even mention Don Staley by name, like I really.
Speaker 6 (07:10):
Maybe he's sorry, but I really don't think he cares.
That he looked like a jerk.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
Jess.
Speaker 5 (07:14):
I heard you say going into this final four that
the four best team, the teams that made it, had
been the four best teams all along, right all season long,
and they'd separated themselves. Had you CLA separated themselves from
the other three? Or was this just like a perfect
storm your guard play, I mean, yeah.
Speaker 6 (07:32):
Senior guard play for sures two guys.
Speaker 7 (07:33):
I mean I think UCLA really did there was I mean,
go back, going back to Muffet macgrawh. She got a
lot of flak around selection Sunday because she was really
adamant and kept talking about and posting about how she
thought UCLA should have been the number one overall see
because they had so many more Quad one wins and
had been tested a lot more than.
Speaker 6 (07:49):
Yukon U kind obviously plays in the Big East.
Speaker 7 (07:51):
They didn't have a really tough non conference schedule because
a lot of the non conference games that looked tough
on paper ended up being against teams like Nord even January,
where they were not as good as Notre Dame in March,
and Tennessee who has now as of today, lost every
single player in the portal. They had a first round
NCAA tournament exit. So it's not that they didn't try
to schedule got out of conference games. They did, but
(08:13):
they ended up not being that strong and then of
course in the Big East, not as tough as the
Big Ten. But UCLA I think had throughout the season
proven that, you know, last year was their first Final four,
and all these players decided it was really important to them,
Like some of them could have left and gone pro
or graduated whatever gone in the transfer portal certainly, but
they thought it was really important to them to you know,
the core, to stick together and try to redeem themselves.
Speaker 6 (08:34):
This year, and they did that, and so throughout the season,
I think you just.
Speaker 7 (08:38):
Saw them get stronger and stronger and play better together.
And I think that culminated in their Big Ten championship
game against Iowa, where they won by fifty points to
a two seed and ended up being the two seed
in the NCUBA Tournament. The Iowa did bob out a
little early from the NCAA tournament, but winning a conference
championship game in the Big Ten by fifty.
Speaker 6 (08:58):
Points still, I mean, it's ridiculous.
Speaker 7 (09:03):
So I do really think they did kind of separate
themselves throughout the season, and had they been the number
one overall seed, I think, you know, it would have
been maybe less exciting because they would have just they
did play a close game against Duke in the Sweet
sixteen so or Elite eight, so you know, it wasn't
like they steamrolled everyone, and certainly the Texas game was
was really tough, and that was also a team that
they lost.
Speaker 6 (09:22):
To earlier this season.
Speaker 7 (09:23):
So I thought it was a really great finale for
them because it shows, you know, all the things that
people say they hate about college sports now, the one
in Don's transfer portal, all of that. At the end
of the day, this team had players come together, stick
around for four years plus, and like really decide, like
this is something that we really care about. We're going
to actually stay here and try to finish what we started.
Speaker 8 (09:45):
Jesse, do you think UNC should have made Don Staley
say no Taylor?
Speaker 7 (09:51):
Taylor didn't we say this exact same thing about the
Knicks last May?
Speaker 8 (09:56):
Yes, yeah, gotta make Don Staley say no. Everybody else
apparently told Carolina know.
Speaker 7 (10:02):
Yeah, including Dusty May.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
I I think yes, well, I mean yeah, the M
and May should stand for March.
Speaker 8 (10:09):
I mean right, I mean, should we name him Dusty March? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (10:13):
Wait, So friends love when their their friends are miserable.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
Have you been laughing at Taylor all day because he
got Mike Malone?
Speaker 7 (10:20):
He I'm not, you know, not so much laughing as
like I kind of feel bad Tailor. I mean, you
got you already got to deal with Bill Belichick right now,
I got to deal with this thing.
Speaker 6 (10:33):
It just seems like.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
This things like department isn't.
Speaker 6 (10:36):
In the best in the best hands right now.
Speaker 5 (10:38):
He hates when you remind him that Bill Belichick is
his football Come. That's how crazy it's gotten.
Speaker 8 (10:42):
Yeah, I've kind of just tuned out the Bill Belichick
football news at this point.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
But yes, imagine if you're Mike Malone's daughter, Like, would
you want your dad roaming around campus when you're in college?
You know?
Speaker 6 (10:53):
You know what.
Speaker 7 (10:53):
Someone texted me earlier and said I can't wait for
Mike Malone to meet Jordan.
Speaker 6 (10:58):
For a split second, I thought that meant Michael Jordan's.
Didn't that I remember no Jordan with it?
Speaker 7 (11:03):
Oh yeah, yeah, I mean Stercott's. It's a it seems
like a weird situation.
Speaker 6 (11:10):
It seems like it's weird.
Speaker 7 (11:11):
We live in a world where the Carolina job's not
like everyone's jumping for it, right, Yes, but.
Speaker 8 (11:17):
I god, I don't want to live in that world.
Speaker 1 (11:19):
You know, there was a world where Dan Hurley would
have left his job at Connecticut for.
Speaker 5 (11:23):
This job at mid final four. That's crazy, Jess. I
was full disclosure. I just got Paramount Plus again because
there was a show that i'd like, didn't finish watching
when I had my sister's log in, and I was like, fine,
I'll get my own log in. And then I saw
this show down there and said made for March, and
I was like, that sounds kind of interesting. But I
(11:43):
didn't know anything about it, and then I felt like
I might have waited too long. It's already final four weekend.
I can't really watch it, but now I'm definitely gonna
watch it because I found out that Lee, your fiance,
is involved. And I also just realized that I never
actually said his last name out loud. Finer Finer, yes, Weiner.
Speaker 6 (11:59):
Okay, thank you for bringing this up.
Speaker 7 (12:01):
This has been the biggest cause of strain in my
nascent engagement so far. You know, some couples they argue
about like should we have a wedding, should we not
have a wedding?
Speaker 6 (12:09):
Who do we invite to our wedding? Where are we
going to have our No, we've been arguing about my lack.
Speaker 7 (12:14):
Of support for his career because he's been producing this show.
Speaker 6 (12:18):
On Paramount Plus called Made for March.
Speaker 7 (12:19):
It's a four part series about the Michigan and Kansas
basketball teams in their road through March Madness. The first
three episodes are out and I believe the fourth episode
will come out after this championship game because as he
has been working on this, he's been the producer in
charge of the Michigan storyline. Is he I don't know
if you know this, but Michigan there, they've been on
(12:40):
quite a terror.
Speaker 2 (12:41):
I just found out playing in.
Speaker 7 (12:43):
The Championship, and like I mentioned earlier, I went to
Notre Dame. So I'm not the biggest Michigan fan. But
Lee is having a great time. He's you know, super
super proud of the show and everything they've done so far.
And I'm gonna I'm gonna be honest, it looks great,
it looks fun. He's He's told me how likable all
these players are, and I'm like, yeah, I'll take your
word for it. But he really likes Dusty May. And
(13:03):
so now I'm in this position where I'm like, am
I rooting for Michigan tonight because you know, maybe Lee
will win an Emmy?
Speaker 6 (13:10):
Or should I just emotionally hedge?
Speaker 5 (13:13):
I don't care about an Emmy. I just wish that
it's our fault. I wish that would have been talking
more often, because you could have given me sort of
insider trading information on Michigan and maybe I would have
had them instead of Arizona.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
Well, because yes, we said right after the Sweet Sixteen,
both me and is He said that Arizona's the best
team in the country. That's until I saw them play
Michigan on Saturday night. That's the first time I've seen
Michigan all year.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
They're good.
Speaker 6 (13:33):
I mean, they are good, and their best player was
hurt for part of that game.
Speaker 5 (13:36):
It was Dominican. I just learned that. Watch.
Speaker 7 (13:39):
Yeah, they are a really really good basketball team with
a head coach that is difficult to not like.
Speaker 6 (13:47):
And I say that through gritted team.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
Speaking of March, Taylor, what is your bracket pool hedge
dilemma that you have going on right now? Because maybe
Jess could help us out with this, Like, I know
what you should do, I'm just not certain you're going
to do it.
Speaker 8 (14:02):
So Yeah, So I'm not going to disclose any amounts
I've told some people here.
Speaker 5 (14:06):
The Irm mount listening.
Speaker 8 (14:08):
Yes, Okay, I'm not telling anybody any amounts because then
I'm not even totally worried about the I R S.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
Yeah, I've been backing on that my entire life.
Speaker 8 (14:16):
I gotta be honest, you got something.
Speaker 6 (14:18):
If you're not worried about the I R S, who
are you worried about?
Speaker 8 (14:20):
Sometimes when you talk about no, sometimes when you talk
about how much you're gonna win, some people start expecting
things from your your winning pool.
Speaker 5 (14:29):
Okay, so you don't want your girlfriend to this guy.
Speaker 8 (14:32):
I didn't say that. I did not say that. Let
the record show I didn't say that. But Jess, my
dilemma here is, if Michigan wins tonight, I win this
bracket pool.
Speaker 5 (14:43):
A million dollars, four figures.
Speaker 8 (14:46):
At least four figures, I'll say. So, I don't know
whether to hedge or not because I feel like I'm
in the ideal spot because Michigan is such a big favorite.
Normally I wouldn't even consider hedging. But the fact that
Yaxles hurt kind of makes me want a hedge. And
the fact that it's Yukon and they're undefeated in title games, yeah,
kind of makes me want to hedge.
Speaker 7 (15:08):
I do think on paper, Michigan's a lot better, right.
Speaker 2 (15:12):
Yes, yes on paper, Yes, played on paper.
Speaker 7 (15:16):
On paper, And it's one game like this game's this
game's Hurley versus May right, like this is like coach coach,
one game for your life.
Speaker 6 (15:23):
I don't know, Taylor.
Speaker 2 (15:26):
I mean it's Yukon. They've won two out of the
last three national championship.
Speaker 5 (15:29):
That's an easy answer, you, of course. I mean whatever
the three figure amount was that you bought into this pool. Okay,
you take that one hundred dollars and you make and
you just bet it on the other team. That way,
you're just you're not gonna lose one way or the h.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
Yes, I would say more he's got to go five
hundred at least on yukon money line, he has to.
Speaker 7 (15:48):
Or if you want to, but maybe just do a
light hedge, like as he's saying.
Speaker 5 (15:52):
Just to get so you don't have to worry about it.
A light hedge is fine.
Speaker 7 (15:55):
But either way you're Taylor, I will I will say
this is bringing up one of my biggest sports betting
regrets of my life, which was when Michigan was in
the football Championship game against Washington and I knew, I
mean everyone knew like this, Michigan's got this, like they
were gonna win this game.
Speaker 6 (16:13):
They are definitely gonna win this game.
Speaker 7 (16:14):
And I obviously did not want them to win the game.
Speaker 6 (16:17):
And I wish I had just bet the house.
Speaker 7 (16:19):
I really wish I had because like the emotion, at
least I would have gotten something out of it. Instead,
it was just like, oh man, this is disgusting.
Speaker 6 (16:25):
I hate this, but.
Speaker 8 (16:27):
Well, I'm kind up on the fence right now. Is
my bracket is in the ninety second percentile and I
have Michigan as my champion. I kind of just want
to go down with my bracket at this point.
Speaker 6 (16:39):
Yeah, I mean it's a pretty good bracket.
Speaker 7 (16:41):
I love going on going on to see where my
bracket ranks, and it's like six millionth and I'm like.
Speaker 5 (16:47):
Cool on this Fox Sports when I was first amongst
the hosts after day one, I'm pretty sure I'm like
third to last.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
Now, go down with your bracket. What does that mean?
Win some money?
Speaker 1 (16:58):
I have a guaranteed opportunity to win some money here
and a lot of money.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
What do you mean go down with your brackets? Ever?
Speaker 5 (17:05):
Going to Taylor for financial advice.
Speaker 2 (17:08):
It's a classic win win scenario for you.
Speaker 8 (17:11):
Go down with the bracket and Jess, I'm not gonna lie.
I watched Made for March yesterday and after watching it
and I was considering hedging Yukon. It was so pro
Michigan that I was like, man, this team is gonna
win by thirty five time.
Speaker 7 (17:27):
Well, unfortunately there's no Made for March about Yukon. Otherwise
you'd be right now, hedging your life on Yukon winning
the game.
Speaker 3 (17:33):
Wait, so Lee convinced you to go down with the
bracket really so it's kind of like when you watch
Hard Knocks in the Fall where it's like, man, this
team is going to be really good, and then you're
thinking about it, and I was like, wait, they're talking
about the Raiders.
Speaker 8 (17:45):
The Raiders are probably gonna win like three games this year.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
Can I hedge Yukon for you? I'll make the bet.
We'll go fifty to fifty either way. Good, good, fifty
to fifty. You get my bracket pool too? Yes, no, no, I.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
Tried to do it quickly so he wouldn't notice, but
he's on it.
Speaker 6 (18:02):
Thanks try though.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
Thank you Jess. All right, Jess, we appreciate it. Let's
promote this one more time for Lee's new project. It's
a four part series on Paramount Plus made for March.
They follow Michigan and Kansas. Short road for Kansas.
Speaker 6 (18:14):
Huh yeah, should have called it May March.
Speaker 2 (18:19):
Put it on the ball. Should it have been made
for March? Jess?
Speaker 1 (18:23):
We love you, Thank you, enjoy Masters week and we'll
talk to you soon.
Speaker 6 (18:27):

Speaker 2 (19:31):
So the Lakers here is he lost Austin Reeves in
addition to losing Luca here. But that's not what we
want to discuss. What happened with Lebron James here?
Speaker 5 (19:39):
Oh, Lebron, I thought you wanted to talk about change
the subject immediately and make it the Indiana Bears because
Indiana is taking over football.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
But they are and that's you know, it's the birthplace
of football. Everyone knows that.
Speaker 5 (19:50):
So what was Taylor helped me out here? What's the
name of the podcast that you love with the guys
go golfing? Bob does sports, Bob does sports. I believe
Lebron James. Bob does sports podcast playing golf with the guys,
and he was basically just having fun conversations. What you
(20:10):
do on the golf course, just shoot that, you know what?
And he might have also shot himself in the you
know what. Well, let's just say the foot, because he
said some stuff that was not very friendly about other
NBA cities And here's some of that sound. I'm not
like the first guy even talk about in the NBA
like we all like, you guys have to move just go.
Speaker 2 (20:27):
Over to Nashville.
Speaker 5 (20:28):
You got Vanderbilt over there, you got the NASCAR, you
got a stadium. Don't you got a hockey team too?
Speaker 3 (20:32):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (20:33):
Yeah, predator predators like they got everything. Doesn't look like
Leron's gonna be on the Grizzlies anytime soon. So Grizzly
fans out there, it ain't no. They're only chance within
two thousand and three of their to won the lottery.
Give me there, and I might have pulled Eli Manning
and not showed up. Yeah, so that's probably not the
best thing you want to say for other member cities
(20:55):
of the NBA. And he later was asked about it
and basically just he didn't even like apologize. He just
basically doubled down and said, well, I also said, Milwaukee,
why are people so upset?
Speaker 2 (21:07):
Well, covering his bases of course.
Speaker 5 (21:09):
Right, Well, okay, so now just get two cities upset
with you instead of just the one. The thing that
got that surprised me was people sort of expecting Lebron
James to say the right things really in any moment,
because Stu, I think you probably known this about Lebron
because he's played in your city and know a lot
about his personality. But there's two things in particular that
(21:30):
he really cares about.
Speaker 1 (21:31):
Well, he played in your city, okay, flirted with my city,
New York, and never played there, and he should end
his career there because that's how he you know, if
he wants to catch shortan, you win what championship there?
Speaker 2 (21:40):
It's like winning three.
Speaker 5 (21:41):
Well, we do have the sound apparently of him sort
of doubling down here, so let's play that really quickly.
Oh I'm sorry, I thought we did my mistake. So
basically that's basically what happened. He's just said, Well, I
also said Milwaukee and just saying I can't believe people
get so mad about this stuff. And it's just when
you get to know, when you understand the Bron's personality
and Lebron if you go back to just the beginning
(22:04):
of him playing basketball and people talked about what his
best skill was as a basketball player, it was always
the assist, right, And part of that was why Stu
because he loves getting his teammates involved, because he loves
nothing more than fitting in, Like he just wants to
be one of the guys fit in, be one of
the boys that has always been that. And then just
(22:25):
not wanting to look bad, right, He wants to look
good at all in all scenarios. Yes, that feeling is
what was the overriding feeling right then and there. I'm
just one of the boys, just hanging out golfing with
all my white friends over here, and yeah, I'm gonna
talk some smack about Memphis because that's how I really
feel about the city. And so it's the easiest thing
in the world's too to just even afterward apologize to Memphis.
(22:48):
My bad, I said the wrong thing. Whatever, just got
caught up in the moment hanging out with my boys. Instead,
he did the opposite and double down because he didn't
want to look like he made a mistake. He didn't
want to look a little dumb, right, because yeah, it
was a dumb move to make fun of Memphis like that,
especially a city like that, which more so than you know,
some of the other cities in the league. It's just
a very ethnic city. It's just very black, and it's
(23:11):
just like they take pride in that, and it's something
that as a black man, Lebron James should recognize that
and maybe not pick on that one particular city. And
he went on to say oh, at forty one years
old in Memphis on a Thursday. I don't care how
old you are. Man, it doesn't justify you just because
you're unk now talking that you just can't go around
talking smack about these cities. And it just makes me like,
(23:32):
once and for all, not that they were necessarily asking
him this, they were just shooting the stuff, you know,
with with Lebron James. But once and for all, stop
asking Lebron stuff outside of basketball, right Like, I don't
care what his opinion is. I don't think he put
much thought into it. I think he's going to give
the answer that whoever's around him at the moment will
most want him to give. And it's just like, dude,
(23:53):
you can't even the next day put your pride aside
and say, yeah, I was maybe I have one too many.
I was just talking some smag my bad Memphis. You know,
we love you.
Speaker 1 (24:03):
I would say whatever is said on a golf course,
you know, when you're playing with a bunch of guys
and drinking, it doesn't matter, it doesn't count.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
You throw it out.
Speaker 5 (24:11):
I'm saying stuff to stay souff.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
You don't think anyone's going to hear it, even though
he had nineteen microphones and probably five cameras in front
of them. It's just he's on the golf course. I mean,
he's forgiven, but he's Lebron. This is the this is
gop Lebron. It's a different Lebron. It's a casual Lebron.
Speaker 5 (24:26):
But not in twenty twenty six. Like if this was
nineteen ninety six and you're Michael Jordan, you can say
anything you want the golf course because it's not getting
back to anybody. Lebron knows this already. He knows it's
actually for a podcast. He knows it's not just him
and the boys hanging out.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
I'm sorry, I'm distracted. I just can't believe got Lebron
James on the show? How many views does that thing have?
I was on that show in four days. It's gotten
two point five million views.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
What how many views did mine have? Total?
Speaker 1 (24:53):
I did it like two years ago? Yes, I did it.
We want and by the way, meanwhile, you got.
Speaker 5 (24:57):
Kids just bashing kids from men just bashing Lebron James.
I don't want any part of that, dude, not that
they would have had any part of that dude to
begin with, because like he said he wouldn't have gone
there even if he was trade drafted there. But it's
just such a like if you are the gifted face
of the league, like you're supposed to. You're supposed to
Victor Webbin Yama this thing. You're supposed to lift the
(25:18):
league up, You're not supposed to tell them move that
team to Nashville.
Speaker 2 (25:23):
M Taylor three.
Speaker 8 (25:24):
Hundred and sixty thousand years and counting.
Speaker 5 (25:28):
Maybe it didn't get the proper promotion.
Speaker 8 (25:30):
Two years ago. Since then, it looks like they've challenged
Scottie Scheffler, Tony FW.
Speaker 2 (25:36):
The Mets, Huh, what do you mean?
Speaker 4 (25:38):
The Mets looks like, well, what did you What did
you say about Memphis on the podcast?
Speaker 1 (25:46):
I told Bob I was gonna steal his idea and
run with it. That's what I told him at the time.
And Bob doesn't do sports. That's the name of the pod.
He does golf. I mean, he doesn't do sports. What
are the sports is? He branched out into none?
Speaker 5 (26:00):
You know, plays a lot of golf. Steph Curry. You
know what Steph Curry wouldn't do if he was playing
golf on Bob does sports, He wouldn't do the show.
He wouldn't take out an entire NBA city for no reason.
Speaker 2 (26:10):
Well, he does the right thing.
Speaker 5 (26:12):
Because he lives in a hyatt or has to stay
on a hyatt.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
Yeah again, he got Lebron James to play golf with him.
That's that's I brought Leroy hoard.
Speaker 8 (26:22):
You guys also sound old calling Bob does sports a
podcast when they're just YouTubers. Sorry whatever, those damn those
damn podcasters.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
I mean, I think I sound older calling him YouTubers.
I can tell you this, having done the show. Now,
I don't know if anything has changed. I could tell
you that you can play nine holes of golf and
not feel at all like anyone is filming you.
Speaker 2 (26:46):
You can, I mean, I'm telling you is I did it?
Speaker 5 (26:48):
I played okay, Now, be Lebron James. Is there ever
a time where nobody's filming you? I think you know.
Speaker 2 (26:53):
I understand he's signing up to do something that's on YouTube.
Speaker 5 (26:56):
He should know, podcast whatever.
Speaker 2 (26:58):
Or podcast whatever the hell one is these days. Is
I have no idea.
Speaker 1 (27:01):
I just cannot believe because I know Bob's story and
I cannot believe Bob has turned.
Speaker 2 (27:07):
I think he was a bouncer or maybe a dormant.
Speaker 8 (27:09):
At a bar at the four seasons.
Speaker 1 (27:12):
At the four seasons, I know, but now he's got
like a sports media. He's a giant in the game,
maybe the biggest in the game when it comes to
YouTube and sports because all he does is ask celebrities
to play golfle of them. That fat Perez guy. That
guy can crush it, man. I mean, he's unbelievable. I
can't believe we beat them. It was me, Leroy Horde
(27:32):
and Chris Cody.
Speaker 8 (27:33):
I mean, they're out drawing the Valero Open one thousand
percent this past weekend.
Speaker 5 (27:38):
What shouldn't they start a podcast though, I feel like
it believe they do have a podcast, right, So I
was right, it's just direct.
Speaker 8 (27:45):
It's not their YouTube channel.
Speaker 5 (27:49):
Directing me for no reason.
Speaker 1 (27:52):
So Lebron, I mean, listen, it was a terrible What
do you want me to do with this? I mean,
I'm just saying it was a terrible job by Lebron.
I think he should have pologize. He's not going to
apologize and he knows Memphis is never going to get him,
and so I.
Speaker 2 (28:04):
Mean, it's just I don't know Lebrond and Lebron.
Speaker 5 (28:06):
I guess well, that's my whole point. It's just when
people can wake up and stop expecting anything out of
Lebron James in terms of public opinions, like he's going
to mess up like this even when somebody didn't ask
him a difficult question.
Speaker 1 (28:18):
Yes, But do you think people wake up and have
any sort of expectation for Lebron and his public opinion?
Speaker 3 (28:23):
Do?
Speaker 5 (28:23):
I don't think a lot of sports fans a lot,
even like I just said, there was some guys in Memphis,
some young kids in Memphis trashing him. But there are
people who worship Lebron James. There are people who think
he can do no wrong. There are people who've got
them in the same category as Tiger Woods and will
defend him regardless. So yeah, there are people who think
this of him, and it's the same. It's like I
was saying before in the realm of Michael Jordan, like
when he said, uh, Republicans by sneakers too, and got
(28:45):
all the criticism. He should have been praised for till
the end of time for saying that, because you're better
off not saying anything than showing or you know what, right,
And Lebron just does it all the time.
Speaker 1 (28:55):
Right, there was a time where we wanted him to
say something and he didn't say anything.
Speaker 2 (28:59):
Right.
Speaker 5 (29:00):
Yeah, Once he didn't say anything on Tamir Rice in Cleveland,
you knew he knew that this guy's really not good
for anything outside of basketball talk.
Speaker 1 (29:07):
How many it's true? How many views for uh Lebron
and Bob does Sports?
Speaker 8 (29:12):
Two point five?
Speaker 2 (29:13):
Why am I so mad at Bob does sports? Why
am I lashing out of Bob does sports?
Speaker 1 (29:16):
He invited me on his show. He's a very nice guy.
Why am I lashing out? I don't know if he's
got a bigger empire than I do. That's why I'm
lashing out at Bob does sports. Why am I getting
on him for only doing golf and not doing sports.
He's got a bigger empire than me, and he hasn't
invited me back since I got to be honest with you,
I'm offended by it. I'm the only one who's beating them.
They're undefeated, fat Perez man. I'm telling you three twenty
(29:39):
off the t's He's great.
Speaker 8 (29:41):
Has Bob even had Jess Fontana on.
Speaker 5 (29:46):
See that jacket, the Great Master's Jacket.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
She was weird.
Speaker 1 (29:51):
The Lakers. I thought they were gonna win the title.
They're not anymore, right, I mean that's over.
Speaker 9 (29:55):
No.
Speaker 5 (29:55):
I mean it's interesting though, that Luca is going to
Europe to handle his hand.
Speaker 2 (30:00):
Why does everyone go to Europe? I mean, do it
in the United States here? What are they hiding in Europe?
Speaker 5 (30:04):
That's the thing.
Speaker 2 (30:05):
What is it that we can see?
Speaker 1 (30:06):
What is going on in Europe that we're not allowed?
Does he Kobe went to Europe? Tiger's now in Europe?
I think he's outside of the United States. Everyone's going
to Europe to get their stuff done.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
What's happening.
Speaker 5 (30:16):
They're taking your blood out and mixing something in there
that only they have in Europe, and then putting it
back in and all of a sudden you're healed.
Speaker 2 (30:25):
It's weird.
Speaker 4 (30:25):
All right.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
A couple of baseball stories coming up next. I can't
wait for this because an eighty one year old man
is being bullied by the Dodgers. We'll talk about it
coming up next.
Speaker 4 (30:36):
Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Godson Company
Live weekdays at three pm Eastern twelve pm Pacific.
Speaker 1 (30:44):
All right, there are two baseball stories I'd like to
get to before we get out of here, Taylor, what
is going on with the Dodgers. Why are they bullying
an eighty one year old that has had season tickets
for the last fifty years.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
What is happening there?
Speaker 8 (30:57):
So the eighty one year old in question, his name
is Eric Seagull. The Dodgers have told them our tickets
have gone fully digital. Download the MLB Ballpark app to
access your tickets. Arrol has come out and said, I
own a flip phone. He doesn't know how to use
a computer. He's offered to pay extra money to LA
(31:17):
for them to print them. They said, no, like, figure
out a way to get these tickets. Here's the catch. Yeah,
he went to a Dodgers game. And if you go
to a Dodgers game the day of the game and
you go up to the box off and say, hey,
I want two tickets please, you know what they do.
Speaker 5 (31:33):
They print tickets.
Speaker 8 (31:34):
They print tickets, right, So this feels like a situation
if somebody is ever going to be grandfathered in, it's
somebody that looks like somebody's grandfather.
Speaker 5 (31:45):
So he can't go to that same window where they
buy tickets and say, hey, I bought my tickets just
in one large package. Can I get that ticket printed out?
That cannot happen.
Speaker 8 (31:55):
They refuse to print. They're saying, no exceptions, we're not
printing your tickets.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
He's a fifty year season ticket holder.
Speaker 8 (32:02):
It's embarrassing. They win back to back titles and all
of a sudden they're turning their back on fifty plus
year old fans.
Speaker 1 (32:08):
Yes, so he just going for a ticket stub, right,
Just so I'm clear, though he wants the physical tickets.
He wants tickets in hand because he's eighty one years old,
and that's the way he's always entered a game.
Speaker 5 (32:16):
I don't even think it's what he wants. It's how
he can enter the game because his phone doesn't have
the technology. His flip lets on that technology.
Speaker 1 (32:24):
Even if the phone have the technology at eighty one
years old, he still wouldn't know how to use it. Okay,
and so correct? I mean, I am fifty two years
old and I can't.
Speaker 5 (32:32):
Use my phone, correct, right, I mean that's a that's
quite the dilemma there, because it's unless it's in the
thing that you sign when you buy your season tickets.
Speaker 2 (32:42):
Too many things in my Apple wallet exactly.
Speaker 5 (32:44):
Who's reading all of those policies when you sign that
nobody is it.
Speaker 8 (32:48):
You're saying, it's quite the dilemma. It doesn't feel like
there needs to be a dilemma here. Just print the
guy's tickets.
Speaker 5 (32:53):
Well, yeah, no, the dilemma is yeah, you're right, it's
not really a dilemma. But it's just the Dodgers. Are
the Dodgers, right? The Dodgers just to change this ridiculous policy.
And if they happen to have a bunch of people
knocking on their door saying, hey, I too have a
flip phone, I can't do this, they're gonna just question them.
They're probably lying, Okay, it probably is only going to
(33:13):
be three or four people of this age group that
you're gonna have to print out tickets for.
Speaker 8 (33:17):
So if the Dodgers the past five years were like
a five hundred baseball team and this fan is begging
to go to games, I think they print the tickets.
I think this is a case that the Dodgers have
gotten too big for their own brand where they're now
turning their nose on some of their most loyal fans.
Speaker 5 (33:32):
But what does this fan have to do then, like,
other than bring attention to it? And have us talking
about it like, is he gonna have to stand outside
of the stadium just like this, and I've got tickets
I can't get in, And then just get a whole
group of protesters saying let him man print his tickets
or something like that, because it's the only way it's
gonna work.
Speaker 2 (33:50):
I would say, chain yourself to Dodger Stadium. That works.
I would say, yes, right, We'll.
Speaker 8 (33:56):
Just get somebody's grandkid to print them out for you.
Speaker 2 (33:59):
Let's get them on the show.
Speaker 1 (34:00):
No, let's get behind this man and get him on
the show and get his tickets printed.
Speaker 2 (34:03):
That's what I think we should do.
Speaker 8 (34:05):
So Show Haotani had that big scandal that got conveniently
covered up where his interpreter took the fall for him.
If Show Haotani wants to win the public opinion back
on him, right, Sho Hay has to sit out until
this guy gets his tickets printed.
Speaker 2 (34:22):
You know what they You're right, Yeah, you're right. It's
a great point. It's a great take.
Speaker 1 (34:26):
Show hey needs to print out his tickets, stack them
all up, and deliver those tickets to the guy's house.
Speaker 2 (34:30):
How about that.
Speaker 1 (34:31):
We're walking hand in hand with Errol yes, yes, it's
a perfect name for an eighty one year old. What's
his last name Siegel?
Speaker 8 (34:38):
Errol Siegel. If I knew nothing else, so you told
me his name was Errol Siegel, I'd be like that
guy's eighty one.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
I would say eighty one and a fifty year season
ticket holder for the Dodgers. That's what I would say,
and showe. Hey, Otani, it's such a great take by Taylor.
He needs to get those tickets printed. I mean, do something,
should be in prison, I mean, get the tickets printed.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
Let's go.
Speaker 8 (34:58):
I think he came over with the team from Brooklyn.
Speaker 2 (35:01):
He still call them when they moved. He moved.
Speaker 5 (35:09):
Siegel, I mean this guy.
Speaker 1 (35:11):
I totally understand them, and I feel terrible for the
guy because of course he wants his tickets printed. That's
the way they've always been. Okay, and now you're right, Dodgers,
big La Dodgers. I mean, seriously, they win a couple
of World Series and all of a sudden their fans
don't matter. Why because if Seagull cancels his tickets, there's
a line of about a million people waiting to take them.
Speaker 2 (35:34):
It's unbelievable.
Speaker 5 (35:35):
I don't think there's anything you can do for fifty
plus years consecutively and not get rewarded.
Speaker 1 (35:42):
They're probably double selling this guy's tickets and he doesn't
know it.
Speaker 2 (35:45):
Ama that even if.
Speaker 5 (35:46):
You just pay your mortgage every month over the course
of fifty years, you know your.
Speaker 2 (35:51):
Reward will be about halfway in.
Speaker 5 (35:52):
You will have paid off your house. Congratulations. If I
am a season ticket holder for fifty years, there need
to be tea years of levels of things that I get,
and one of those things better be a couple of
pieces of paper with my ticket printed on it.
Speaker 1 (36:07):
Yes, get Seagull on the get him on the show's
let him pitch his case.
Speaker 2 (36:11):
I do. I want to help him out.
Speaker 5 (36:13):
Yes, yes, you're on.
Speaker 2 (36:14):
I want to turn him against Otani.
Speaker 8 (36:15):
I mean, so, how do you recommend us getting in
contact with the guy who says he doesn't even own
a flip phone and he doesn't know how to operate.
Speaker 2 (36:23):
Listen, not my problem.
Speaker 8 (36:24):
I mean you want me to say out carrier.
Speaker 5 (36:26):
Project, explain zoom. We'll have to just go backward and
see which everyone actually hits. We'll start with you know,
a letter, and then we just go back from there.
Pony Express, blah blah, blah.
Speaker 8 (36:37):
So I'm writing out a letter to him right now.
I'm going to put it in a message in a
bottle and it'll probably get to La in three weeks.
Speaker 5 (36:44):
Do you think Ai Colin can send him a message?
Speaker 1 (36:46):
That'd be great. He has to have a landline. I
am telling you right now, that guy's got a home phone.
Just look it up like you're cold calling, and just
look for the white pages.
Speaker 2 (36:57):
Ask Colin, as is he? As is he? You admitted ago?
Let's see what Colin's advice is on this.
Speaker 9 (37:03):
Play stat every storyline. I've got it all.
Speaker 8 (37:06):
What do you want to know?
Speaker 2 (37:06):
All right, Colin?
Speaker 8 (37:07):
What do you think about the Dodgers not printing out
the tickets for an eighty one year old who's been
a season ticket holder for fifty plus years?
Speaker 2 (37:13):
All right, this is Ai Colin. He's on the Fox
Sports radio app. He doesn't know it. Hold on a second.
Speaker 9 (37:20):
That's a bad look for the Los Angeles Dodgers when
a guy's been a season ticket holder for over fifty years.
You don't hide behind policy, can pretend you can't solve it.
If the box office can print a single game ticket,
then the organization can figure out a simple, secure workaround
for one loyal fan. That's basic customer service rocket science.
(37:41):
Is that the kind of stuff that turns a feel
good brand into a cold corporation real fast?
Speaker 2 (37:46):
Yes?
Speaker 9 (37:46):
So tell me do you think they should just grandfather
him in and move on?
Speaker 2 (37:52):
Why does he always answer a question with a question?
This ai Colin Coward? Tomas should put him out, as
I know.
Speaker 5 (37:58):
Is even fake. Colin is better than anything I'm doing here.
So I'm just gonna pack it up and even maybe
not come back.
Speaker 8 (38:04):
I think Colin's good.
Speaker 3 (38:06):
He is good, so good that rush More Monday, that's
the herd right there.
Speaker 8 (38:13):
I forgot about that, Mike, he said Colin Kaepernick before.
Speaker 5 (38:17):
I'm pretty sure he said Kellen Moore is on his
Mount Rushmore of athletes and never win a title.
Speaker 1 (38:24):
Someone is so getting fired for that, although I think
Colin doesn't care.
Speaker 8 (38:28):
I'll tell you what. That thing knows how to get
clicks change, So does Bob
