Speaker 2 (00:18):
Now let's get this party started.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:25):
T-Bob in about 15 minutes. I just saw these Deshawn Love.
Am I saying that right?
Speaker 4 (00:32):
Deshawn.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
Deshawn Love videos during the break. Taylor showed them to
me for the first time. First time I'm seeing them.
And now I blame the woman.
Speaker 3 (00:42):
They're bad.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
How do you fall for that? No one walks around.
I don't care if they're playing in the NFL. Constantly
wearing their helmet. It's about Rushmore Monday.
Speaker 4 (00:58):
Give me the imaging.
Speaker 5 (00:59):
You just say about Publix.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
Hey, you there. Yeah, you. The guy with the spreadsheet
pretending to work.
Speaker 6 (01:07):
Do you find yourself needing a pick-me-up as you're dragging
in your cubicle to start the week?
Speaker 3 (01:15):
Are you ready to put the sports back in sports talk?
Speaker 6 (01:20):
Well then, you're in luck, because every Monday, we.
Speaker 7 (01:23):
Climb the mountain, we talk to legends, and we argue about.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
Things you want answered. I want the truth! You can't
handle the truth!
Speaker 6 (01:32):
That absolutely do not matter, and are completely subjective.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
This is Mount Rushmore Monday.
Speaker 7 (01:40):
Monday. Monday.
Speaker 8 (01:41):
So the Mount Rushmore Monday today is defensive linemen in
honor of Aaron Donald returning.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
Right.
Speaker 8 (01:47):
Topic picked by me since I'm the Michael Jordan of
Mount Rushmore Mondays. The draft order, Stu, Taylor, Mikey, and
then it snakes back.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
Stu, first pick.
Speaker 9 (01:57):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (01:58):
The least shocking news we heard all weekend. Aaron Donald
is back.
Speaker 8 (02:03):
Jesus. I think we called that in August or July.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
He sent a letter to Goodell saying I'm back, right?
Like Jordan?
Speaker 7 (02:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (02:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
All right, so I'm up first here. Easy, Reggie White.
I mean, that's just easy. He's the greatest defensive lineman
of all time.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
Reggie White. That's 1-1.
Speaker 8 (02:19):
I had him on 1-1 on my big board. So
my 1-2, Bruce Smith, NFL sack record.
Speaker 10 (02:26):
Wow.
Speaker 11 (02:28):
That's 1-2, which gives me the wrap. I'm going to
take the guy who just returned. I'm going to take
Aaron Donald.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
Great pick. And I'm going to take John Randall. I'm back, baby.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
Maybe the best sack celebration of all time. Four knees,
four legs like a dog.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
Pretending to poop on you. Who's up, Taylor?
Speaker 8 (02:53):
Yep, I'm going to pick two-time Defensive Player of the Year,
Mean Joe Green, centerpiece of that steel curtain defense.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
Pretty good. Pretty good.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
You guys trying to stick me with J.J.
Speaker 12 (03:05):
Rod?
Speaker 3 (03:07):
Take him, he won't.
Speaker 4 (03:12):
I'm going to take Miles Garrett.
Speaker 8 (03:13):
A little bit of a reach here.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
How is that a reach?
Speaker 3 (03:18):
I mean, I don't argue he's an outside linebacker at times.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
No one's going to argue that. And no. And the
man is so good.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
He got Aaron Donald to come out of retirement.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
Sorry, I'm yelling.
Speaker 4 (03:38):
I'm going to go sack exchange Mark Gastineau.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
How about that?
Speaker 4 (03:43):
Stop yelling at me!
Speaker 3 (03:44):
That's definitely a reach.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
Well, I know it's a reach. I don't care if
I win. I don't care if I lose. I'm going
to take Gastineau.
Speaker 6 (03:49):
All right?
Speaker 3 (03:50):
That's it.
Speaker 4 (03:50):
That's all the Jets had for me growing up.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
That was it.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
It was a couple of AFC championship games and the
sack exchange.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
That's all I had.
Speaker 8 (03:59):
So I'm going to make a pick similar to Stu here,
just picking somebody that I liked watching and have an
affinity for. Julius Peppers.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
Oh, he's good. Shocking. I don't hate it.
Speaker 11 (04:13):
You could have gotten him in the next round. I'm
going to take... I'm going to go old school a
little bit. I'm going to go Alan Page and Deacon Jones.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
Did Deacon Jones have like 32 sacks one year? They
weren't keeping track back then.
Speaker 8 (04:30):
Yeah, it says unofficial 173 and a half. Unofficial.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
Unofficial.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
Who's up?
Speaker 8 (04:37):
Me. To close it out, Stu, you mentioned him. I'm
going to say J.J. Watt, three-time defensive player of the year,
one of the best peaks ever, a staple for hard knocks,
flipping tires, when everybody else hadn't shown up yet.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
Does anybody love the troops as much as J.J.
Speaker 7 (04:53):
Watt?
Speaker 3 (04:53):
I don't think so. No one does. Not a single
person on the planet. I'm going to take.
Speaker 4 (04:59):
Man, this is tough.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
Cortez Kennedy. I don't hate it. I mean, it's pretty good.
You left out Warren Sapp.
Speaker 8 (05:08):
Ricardo has been begging somebody to take Jason Taylor.
Speaker 4 (05:11):
No one's taking Jason Taylor. I mean, Jason Taylor is
a great player.
Speaker 8 (05:15):
I wish my mic was just on. Because Ricardo just
made a what?
Speaker 3 (05:20):
I'm sorry. Was there a golden goose and was it
selected Dan Byer? Yes, it was.
Speaker 13 (05:27):
Despite this being a three-person draft, there was a golden ticket.
And it was taken by one Stu Gotts. He went
right to my heart. Cortez Kennedy was the NFL's Defensive
Player of the Year on a team that went 2-14.
That says a lot, the late Cortez Kennedy. So, Stu,
this basically allows you to not finish in last place.
Speaker 8 (05:48):
Exciting.
Speaker 13 (05:50):
I agree with Mikey. I think Taylor really reached with
Julius Pepper. So, Taylor, you're at number three, despite being
the Michael Jordan of this game. So it comes down
to Stu and Mikey.
Speaker 3 (05:59):
Jordan never finishing third? I'll say this. The ode to history,
the fact that he did take.
Speaker 13 (06:06):
what we would consider an interior defensive lineman in the
first round.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
Mikey, you win today's Mount Rushmore. Order is restored in this.
Speaker 4 (06:17):
Now, you know, listen, you knew that Dan Byer, he's
old school. He likes old school.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
You took two old guys. I did. I really like
Steve's team. And I took somebody who's current.
Speaker 13 (06:27):
But Deacon Jones was just such a good pick and
good value at round four.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
Hard to look past.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
That Cortez Kennedy situation is kind of like Andre Dawson
winning the MVP on the last place team, right?
Speaker 13 (06:40):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
Love Tez. I usually don't let you guys play to
my heart, but I did there. That was the golden ticket.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
But you cannot be the defensive player of the year
on a team that's 2-14.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
Just how good were you?
Speaker 8 (06:54):
Dan, would I have been better picking Michael Strahan instead
of Julius Peppers?
Speaker 2 (06:58):
No.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
That was fine.
Speaker 13 (07:00):
I didn't want Strahan on this list for the phony
Favre sack.
Speaker 4 (07:04):
Who do we leave off? Warren Sapp, Bob Lilly.
Speaker 3 (07:08):
Howie Long. Oh, Howie Long. Jesus. Dwight Freeney. Ed Too
Tall Jones. Don't tell Dwight Freeney I left him off.
Helody Nada.
Speaker 4 (07:19):
Helody Nada.
Speaker 8 (07:22):
He's not on my list.
Speaker 3 (07:29):
I'm sorry, Ricardo, about Jason Taylor. T-Bob next.
Speaker 6 (07:32):
Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Gatz and
Company live weekdays at 3 p.m.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
Eastern, 12 p.m. Pacific. T-Bob is with us. Check him out.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
Wake up Barstool every morning on FS1, wherever you get
your podcasts as well.
Speaker 4 (07:48):
We love him. He was just away. What does Barstool do?
Speaker 3 (07:52):
They have a camp. You guys go out to.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
A lake because you guys were talking about blobbing, and
I have no idea what blobbing is. So let's just
start with what you guys do at Barstool every year.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
Is it camp?
Speaker 4 (08:02):
What is it? A vacation? What do you guys do?
Speaker 7 (08:04):
Uh, I, I love the fact that you don't know
what blobbing is. And me and Mikey, a, we're talking
about double blobbing you.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (08:11):
You ain't, you ain't ready to get blobbed by, you
ain't ready.
Speaker 7 (08:14):
For the double teams to, uh, you're going to have
to pay a little extra for that.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
If you don't know what it is, you can't afford it.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
Why would I pay extra for something that sounds terrible? Like,
you're going to do something awful to me. I have
a double?
Speaker 2 (08:27):
No, here, okay, what is Barstool? That is a great question.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
Don't give away secrets here, okay?
Speaker 7 (08:34):
Last week, Wake Up Barstool was off because football's about
to start, and we worked through the summer because we
had World Cup. So, like, everybody normally gets a couple
weeks off.
Speaker 4 (08:41):
Summer, we didn't, whatever.
Speaker 7 (08:42):
So, you know, production, everybody, let's rest up our batteries
before football season starts.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
But I'm in content.
Speaker 7 (08:49):
And so I got to go do this, this camp thing.
And it's funny that you kind of say, what do
we do? Because I'm sitting there and it's Wednesday night.
We've been there for three days, I think, at this point.
Speaker 3 (09:02):
Right.
Speaker 7 (09:03):
We had just been drinking some beer in the woods,
listening to a great American folk band that had rolled through,
called them Cooley Boys.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
And they were like, go down to the beach.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
There's a surprise.
Speaker 7 (09:15):
And then there was just a massive firework show, like
a really big on-the-water firework show, professionally done and everything.
Speaker 9 (09:23):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
And I'm sitting there, I'm like, what are we celebrating?
Speaker 7 (09:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
This is like it's we're.
Speaker 7 (09:29):
Just a bunch of old 30 year olds who spent
the last two days playing softball against one another on
YouTube trying to get views for Mountain Dew. Is that
worthy of a private beach fireworks show in the, you know,
the beautiful lakes of Wisconsin?
Speaker 3 (09:47):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (09:47):
Know.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
Yeah, I got it.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
But it was definitely one of those moments. I was like,
where the fuck am I?
Speaker 6 (09:51):
Yes.
Speaker 4 (09:52):
I got to be honest.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
What you're celebrating is that you guys are stealing for
a living.
Speaker 3 (09:56):
That was work. That's what you're celebrating.
Speaker 7 (09:58):
You know, look, this entire company, you could be said,
trained at the, you know, at the Stu University. There
are many, many Stu Gatzian proteges in this company, without
a doubt.
Speaker 4 (10:15):
I love all of them.
Speaker 8 (10:16):
T-Bob, I'm going to explain to Stu what the blob is.
So a blob is a camp staple, Stu. It's like
a massive air-filled inflatable tube that floats on the lake.
One person is on the blob, and then one person
goes to almost like a ladder of sorts to jump
on the blob. And then when that bigger person jumps
(10:36):
on the blob, it shoots the other person in the air.
So that's why Mikey and T-Bob are saying they're going
to double blob you.
Speaker 3 (10:43):
Oh, God.
Speaker 8 (10:44):
Blobbing is almost a science to maximizing it.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
Right.
Speaker 8 (10:49):
And I think it's something you're either born with or
you're not. I think T-Bob was born to blob.
Speaker 7 (10:53):
Yes.
Speaker 8 (10:53):
T-blob.
Speaker 3 (10:54):
T-blob.
Speaker 7 (10:55):
Wow. I had the same joke.
Speaker 3 (10:57):
Really, it's an odd skill set. The only reason I'm
discussing this was to make that joke. Go ahead. It's
an odd.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
Skill set, but like objectively, I am a very good blobber.
Speaker 7 (11:06):
But it also comes down to the blob itself. Because
what you'll find is that about 90% of blobs out
there are not correctly installed, not correctly inflated, therefore leading
to diminishing returns. But when you get to fly on
one of the good ones, it's an experience really unlike
any other. I mean, we even lifted Brandon Walker's old ass,
(11:29):
I think like 30 feet in the air, somewhere around
there when we got him. So yeah, it's worth doing
at one point in your life if you've ever come
across one, Stu.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
Okay, cool. You know who to call.
Speaker 4 (11:42):
So Mikey A and you are double blobbing me.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
I would land. I don't know where I would end up.
Speaker 7 (11:48):
I mean, I like, I like the idea of you
laying on the edge, smoking a cigarette, hanging out your mouth,
kind of shaking a little bit. And then as you
go flying, the SIG goes shooting off into the sky,
but you, you, you, You might hurt a little bit afterwards,
but you're going to have a good time when you're
in the air.
Speaker 3 (12:06):
That's what blobbing is all about. See, Bob? I mean,
come on. Yes. Is Bill Belichick back? He's not.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
Not back.
Speaker 3 (12:18):
I don't want to go.
Speaker 4 (12:19):
It's like.
Speaker 7 (12:21):
I do a classic thing where I always overreact to
the Aer Lingus, but it has given us some valuable intel.
Speaker 3 (12:28):
In the past.
Speaker 7 (12:29):
I think of it kind of like Georgia Tech's coming
out party a couple of years ago that they've kind
of done right by up to this point. And here's
the thing about the ACC. In the ACC right now,
you have Miami, and then you have everybody else.
Speaker 3 (12:42):
Right.
Speaker 7 (12:43):
So one of the more interesting sub-conversations in college football
to me right now is who is going to assert
themselves as that second-best team in the ACC. Now, Louisville,
they look like a prime candidate. There's some others out there.
I want to– like Virginia.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (12:58):
I was very impressed with this week. It's just a
bunch of old heads chopping it up. But– Here is
one thing that I do like about what I saw
at a UNC this weekend. First, this is a TCU
team that just beat the hell out of them last year.
I think they lost, what was the exact number? I
think they lost like 34 to TCU last year. So
already just a quantifiable massive improvement. But even though I
(13:24):
don't know what the ceiling on the Petrino-Billy Edwards quarterback-coach combination.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
Is, I do like this. I know that Bobby Petrino is.
Speaker 7 (13:34):
Going to probably... He'll be successful. Like, he'll... They'll be
much better in that regard than last year. But if
you look at Petrino in Arkansas, the offense was incredible.
Everything else was absolute dogshit. Like, terrible penalties and turnovers,
finding ways to lose games.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
So, in theory.
Speaker 7 (13:52):
taking a Petrino college offense and then combining it with
a Belichickian infrastructure, right?
Speaker 2 (14:00):
Where you should be disciplined. You shouldn't make mistakes.
Speaker 7 (14:03):
Like Belichick is good at a head coach everywhere where
Bobby Petrino was not.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
And we know that like him or don't like it.
Speaker 7 (14:11):
Petrino is objectively a good offensive mind in college football.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
And again, to go, Not to look too much into.
Speaker 7 (14:19):
This game, but look at TCU, right? 11 penalties, 100 yards.
One of the key reasons UNC won, four penalties of 25.
Disciplined football. Bill Belichick, with Steve Belichick out, calling the
plays defensively. They gave up 10 in the first two drives.
They don't allow another point afterwards.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
They're strong in the red zone, so it was good
situational football by UNC. So, yeah, I kind of... I
see the vision for the Tar Heels.
Speaker 7 (14:43):
And no matter where this season goes, this week's zero
win was a bit of a statement that, you know,
maybe the disaster that we painted, myself chief among everybody,
have painted going on in Chapel Hill right now.
Speaker 2 (14:58):
Maybe there's a little more hope than I'm giving them
credit for.
Speaker 8 (15:02):
I want the record to show I'm a believer.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
Oh, no, you're not.
Speaker 8 (15:05):
Everybody knows that. I've never doubted this coaching staff. I've
never doubted Bill Belichick. But if you twisted my arm
and made me do glass half empty, This might actually
be worst case scenario for UNC because they might just
be an average team. You're not going to compete with
the elite teams in Notre Dame and Miami, and you're
(15:25):
probably not bad enough to need a complete reset of
the program after the season.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
Mikey A is shaking his head. He comes with his
own sound effects. He has none for me, but when
he speaks, he has plenty.
Speaker 3 (15:34):
I mean, it's unbelievable.
Speaker 11 (15:37):
He figures out questions he's going to ask like 30
minutes before the interview just so that he can set
something up.
Speaker 4 (15:44):
Mikey.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
Also odd usage there. Cause you said half empty. Yes.
Then played the water sound effect. So I thought you
were filling it up.
Speaker 10 (15:52):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
Like I thought you were starting to have the.
Speaker 3 (15:54):
No, like dumping it out. And then not at all. Yeah.
Speaker 8 (15:57):
You don't know which way the water is flowing.
Speaker 3 (16:01):
Do you have the dumping out sound effect?
Speaker 7 (16:02):
I mean, I did want to shout this out. And
this comes from Manny Navarro of The Athletic. And these
are the stories that I love about college football. But
how about the story? Xavier Lewis. This is a local
Carolina cat. walks on the football team barely plays as
a freshman last year okay he's a defensive lineman at
(16:23):
six foot 260 undersized in high school he led his
team to a state championship appearance he was the tight
end the running back at times d tackle d like
one of those is hardcore grinder do it all sorts
of guys he gets to play he gets his first
ever start over there in ireland what does he do
Seven tackles, four and a half tiffles, two sacks. I love,
(16:45):
especially in this NIL age where everybody's highly paid and
got all these insane measurables. When you see just the
guy who fucking loves football, undersized, makes it happen anyway.
Speaker 2 (16:56):
Shout out Xavier Lewis.
Speaker 1 (16:58):
If Belichick could ice every game by making a guy
jump off sides, do you think he would?
Speaker 3 (17:03):
I mean.
Speaker 1 (17:03):
That goes back to the Petrino part.
Speaker 3 (17:09):
Oh, yeah.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
If there's one thing that Bill Belichick should be good at.
Speaker 7 (17:15):
I would have said it was no distractions, but that's insanely–
that's out the window. But if there's one thing he
should be good at, it should be getting his team
ready for situational football. That's what the NFL is all about.
And we talk about it being maybe the greatest NFL
coach of all time. So, yeah, that is borderline erotic
(17:36):
for a head coach to win the game in such
a disciplined manner.
Speaker 1 (17:41):
Taylor passed down the opportunity to go to this game
in Dublin, Ireland for free.
Speaker 4 (17:45):
I know you're shaking your head.
Speaker 3 (17:46):
It's ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (17:47):
But he did create a song.
Speaker 1 (17:50):
Had he gone to Dublin, this is the song Taylor
would have been singing in a local pub after the
game as a Tar Heel fan.
Speaker 8 (18:00):
Oh, Bill sawed off for Dublin with his hoodie and
his frown. He brought the heels from Chapel Hill to
shake that Irish town. The horned frogs came to meet him,
all dressed in purple hue. But Bill had come for
one thing, to show what the heels could do. They
said the man was getting old, they said his time
was through. Then Bill went off to Ireland and beat
(18:20):
the hell out of TCU. They called the team a
laughing stock, nobody gave a chance. They took the fight
right to the frogs and did an Irish dance. They
counted out Bibela, check and said he would go in this. Well,
you could kiss my Tar Heel ass while I go
drink a Guinness. A quarterback from Maryland, he's over six
feet tall. He said the heels in Ireland, his name
(18:42):
is Billy Football. They said his coach was finished. His
legacy was done. He left Lombardi in the States and
then he finally won.
Speaker 3 (18:50):
But Trino called the offense.
Speaker 8 (18:53):
Old Bill controlled the D. The Frogs came in as favorites,
but that meant shit to me. They crossed the sea
as underdogs with everybody sure. That TCU would roll the
heels while 1510 says more. The time for laughing's over.
Coach Bill has got his team. When Carolina comes to town,
they're going to cause a scene. I hope you had
(19:13):
your fun. I mean it sincerely. You woke the sleeping giant.
Next stop, the CFP.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
Just nailed it right up until the end. Speaking of.
Speaker 7 (19:32):
You know, not exaggerating the importance of what you saw
at the Aer Lingus.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
Yeah, Carolina, definite.
Speaker 3 (19:40):
Wait, hold on to it.
Speaker 7 (19:42):
So you make that song about drinking Guinness, and yet
you had the opportunity to cross off some. that is
on my bucket list as a college football fan, which
is to drink a freshly drawn Guinness in the stadium
at the Aer Lingus watching my favorite team do battle.
You know these opportunities only come once in a lifetime, Taylor.
(20:03):
What do you have to say for yourself?
Speaker 8 (20:04):
Yeah, so there's a bit of an asterisk next to
that I had the opportunity because my passport is currently expired,
and the thought process of having to renew the passport
was a bit overwhelming. Where if Carolina goes into that
game as a 14-point favorite, a 21-point favorite, there might
be a little bit of a higher sense of urgency
for me to renew the passport. But when Carolina's a
(20:26):
9.5-point underdog, I was like, you know what? I think
I'd rather watch this from my couch.
Speaker 3 (20:30):
Yep.
Speaker 7 (20:31):
I don't think that made anything better. You just said
you were too much of a coward to give yourself
over to hope. Here at the beginning of a season
when nobody can tell you what your team is or isn't,
you allowed yourself to be swayed and dismayed by the
oracles in the desert. Now you're losing on two points.
You're cowardly, you didn't believe in your team, and you
skipped the opportunity to drink freshly drunk Guinness in the
(20:52):
Ilinga Stadium.
Speaker 4 (20:53):
Yeah, but that passport renewal is a pain.
Speaker 3 (20:55):
In the ass, man. It really is. Yeah, it is.
Speaker 2 (20:58):
Actually, probably the craziest shit I've ever done. I've got
to give a shout out to my wife.
Speaker 7 (21:03):
We had a family trip to Mexico one time, and
I realized the night before.
Speaker 2 (21:08):
Oh, boy.
Speaker 7 (21:08):
That my passport was expired.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
Jesus.
Speaker 7 (21:13):
And the next day, the family flew ahead of me.
But the next day, I got a same-day passport.
Speaker 11 (21:21):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
And managed to meet up with the family in Mexico, dude.
Speaker 3 (21:24):
Wow, expedited.
Speaker 1 (21:25):
How much extra did you have to pay for that?
He's still paying for it.
Speaker 3 (21:29):
No, no. Installments. I think what is it?
Speaker 2 (21:32):
This is a little PSA.
Speaker 4 (21:34):
If you have.
Speaker 7 (21:36):
A passport office that is drivable, that you can show
up in person. A lot of major cities do. And
you have an itinerary that proves that you're leaving within,
I think, the next 24 to 48 hours. You show up,
you know, two hours before the door's open to get
in line.
Speaker 2 (21:52):
Right. And you can do it. You can get same-day passports.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
No, Miami has them on every street corner. You just
have no idea if they're legal or not. I mean—
It's a total roll of the dice.
Speaker 3 (22:02):
Sounds like Miami.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
This is an odd question, T-Bob, but I know you're
excited for the LSU season, but because Lane Kiffin is
now there and the expectations have risen to a ridiculous level,
is there a part of you that is nervous as
a LSU alum, as someone who loves that school and
loves that program, nervous because you know what the reaction
is going to be if they lose to, let's say, I.
Speaker 3 (22:27):
Don't know, Clemson?
Speaker 2 (22:30):
No, no. I mean, no. I.
Speaker 3 (22:33):
Hmm.
Speaker 2 (22:34):
How do I want to frame this?
Speaker 7 (22:36):
Being an LSU fan is a bit odd in that...
The highs are as high as anybody, right? Three national
championships since 2000 with three different head coaches like you
played for another.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
So when things all coalesce, you are as good as
anyone in the entire country.
Speaker 7 (22:55):
But if you look at like the record of LSU
on a year by year basis, there's a lot more,
I guess you could say like mediocrity. then then then
you would think and yet this is despite the fact
that every single offseason I that I was doing local
radio like I talked myself into them going 10 and
(23:16):
2 like every single offseason I talked about like so
and especially after thinking that the Brian Kelly era how
could it not result in a national championship right the
last three coaches did it it's a winning this head
coach in college football coming in surely this will be
great and it fell so flat on its face that
that I feel like I've got pretty good scar tissue
(23:37):
built up here.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
And so, like, what?
Speaker 7 (23:40):
You're going to make fun of me if we lose
to Clemson? Like, I don't give a fuck. I'm going
to be there next week. No, there's nothing that you
could say to hurt me. There's no attack angle.
Speaker 2 (23:54):
And guess what?
Speaker 7 (23:56):
If LSU does lose to Clemson after the just– heinous
and villainous shit that they have been overwhelmingly upfront about doing,
then yeah, everybody should hop on that bandwagon. Cause in
many ways, the LSU Clemson game is like in Davo
and Clemson, kind of the last bastion of the old
(24:18):
way of doing things and trying to stubbornly say that
this will work going against the people who are at
the absolute forefront of the envelope pushing.
Speaker 2 (24:28):
Yes. Like, like, like people don't realize this.
Speaker 7 (24:31):
There's all the drama about athletes who had already moved
on coming back to play. LSU soccer actually played two
girls this weekend that had already moved on and came
back to play.
Speaker 3 (24:43):
So like all of it in football's theoretical.
Speaker 7 (24:46):
LSU soccer's already broken the seal and they've already welcomed
back players with open arms that were thought to be
out of their college eligibility and gone.
Speaker 1 (24:54):
What do you say to people that Lane Kiffin should
be more focused on the game, on the opponent this weekend,
on the season, on the players that he has than
on the players that he doesn't have?
Speaker 7 (25:03):
Have you seen Lane Kiffin?
Speaker 2 (25:06):
Have you seen Lane Kiffin's Twitter at all lately?
Speaker 4 (25:09):
No, no, no.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
Exactly.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
My guy's fucking dialed. You know what he's not doing?
He's not tweeting. He's not on social media.
Speaker 7 (25:20):
All he's fucking doing is getting ready to win football
games and do right by this $ 40 million roster. Look,
If you have the chance to get the man who
just led all rookies in sacks in the NFL preseason
on your college football team, Jack Pyburn, you go get
that guy.
Speaker 3 (25:38):
You're right, yes. Okay?
Speaker 2 (25:41):
The thing is, like, I hate– On a personal level,
I don't like this.
Speaker 7 (25:48):
You should not be able to go try with an
NFL team and then come back and play college.
Speaker 3 (25:55):
On a....
Speaker 7 (25:57):
But like outside of just a bit of personal distaste,
you really can't argue it from any other angle. When
these guys declared to go to the NFL, they did
not realize that having another year of eligibility was even
an option.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
Well, then that opens up.
Speaker 7 (26:17):
If you're one of these players and you have the
opportunity to either, okay, A, your football career is done,
or you get to go make a million dollars playing
football again this fall, you take the million dollars. And
if you're Lane Kiffin and you have all the pressure
in the world on you, they just spent $ 200 million
(26:37):
between firing coaches, hiring coaches, building the roster, and you
have to win immediately because look at what's significant. That's
the era in which we live. Well, it's hard to
say that you wouldn't do every single thing you possibly
could to make that a reality. So, yeah, I mean,
it's a weird thing where I have personal distaste for it. However,
I understand the motivations of every single piece involved that
(27:01):
created the situation.
Speaker 1 (27:03):

Speaker 1 (27:45):
We will get to Mikey A and his fantasy football punishment.
Speaker 3 (27:49):
He served it recently. I served it, but I wasn't punished.
Speaker 1 (27:57):
We'll get to that in a second. The NFL team,
for the most part, have trimmed their rosters down. Final
cuts were made. Kyle McCord had a big game in
Green Bay. He's now the Dolphins' backup. Odell Beckham Jr.
is a giant. And the reason I bring all this
up is because Evan Neal has been cut by the
New York Giants. And you're probably saying to yourselves, Why
(28:20):
on God's green earth would Stugatz be talking about Evan
Neal today being cut by the Giants?
Speaker 4 (28:26):
And there's a reason for it. I'll get to it
in just a second.
Speaker 1 (28:28):
In fact, I'll allow Taylor to get to it, and
then we'll get to Mikey Hay and his fantasy football punishment.
Speaker 8 (28:34):
So Evan Neal's a Giants former first-round pick, and in
October 2023— He faced some major backlash because fans were
booing him and booing the team. And then Evan Neal's
response was that was saying that his critics probably flip
hot dogs and hamburgers somewhere and dangerous game to play
in New York City. Yes, because in that market, those
(28:58):
hosts are ready to tear you apart.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
Right.
Speaker 8 (29:00):
And at the time on the Michael K show, that's
what Don LaGreca did.
Speaker 1 (29:03):
And not only that, a lot of guys in New
York City flipping hot dogs and hamburgers.
Speaker 3 (29:07):
I mean, they are. I mean, put me through college
doing it.
Speaker 4 (29:10):
That's right. There's no shame in doing that. You got
to do what you got to do.
Speaker 7 (29:13):
Right.
Speaker 8 (29:14):
So Don LaGreca got on the Michael K show and
absolutely ripped into Evan Neal and put himself on the
Mount Rushmore of dismissals with this rant.
Speaker 12 (29:25):
What does he do?
Speaker 3 (29:27):
Flip hot dogs and hamburgers somewhere?
Speaker 12 (29:30):
Are you kidding me?
Speaker 3 (29:32):
Are you kidding me?
Speaker 12 (29:33):
I'd cut his ass.
Speaker 8 (29:35):
I would.
Speaker 3 (29:36):
How dare you? How dare you?
Speaker 12 (29:40):
These people pay your salary.
Speaker 9 (29:42):
They pay an obnoxious amount of money to park, an
obnoxious amount of money for PSLs to sit there and
watch this pap, and you call them hamburger flippers? What,
you're so much better? I'd rather have a guy that's
flipping hamburgers blocked than your piece of garbage ass. Who
the hell are you to talk to fans like that?
Speaker 12 (30:02):
You piece of garbage. I hate when players do that.
Speaker 9 (30:06):
You're not above us. What, because you happen to play
a sport? You make them, you're better than me? You're
better than the people that pay your salary?
Speaker 12 (30:15):
These giant fans were here before you, and they'll.
Speaker 9 (30:17):
Be here after your sorry ass is cut. What a
piece of human trash. And I don't want to hear
some apology. I don't want to hear, oh, I was taken.
Speaker 3 (30:26):
Out of context. I didn't mean, I don't want to hear, done, done.
Speaker 12 (30:30):
I would cut his fat ass. Oh, if I'm John.
Speaker 9 (30:36):
Mara, I call him into the office and say, you
were a first round pick, but you're not worth anything.
Speaker 12 (30:41):
You don't talk to our fans that way.
Speaker 3 (30:43):
You don't talk to me that way.
Speaker 10 (30:45):
You are out of a job. Speaker 3 6th, if
you see him on the DMV, don't stop. If he
goes to the pro bowl, Boom.
Speaker 9 (31:01):
If he wins a Super Bowl, boo his sorry ass.
Speaker 12 (31:06):
Screw that guy.
Speaker 3 (31:08):
I mean, that angers me.
Speaker 12 (31:10):
We're not nobody.
Speaker 9 (31:12):
How do you condescend to people that pay.
Speaker 12 (31:15):
To watch you play?
Speaker 3 (31:17):
Poorly, I might add.
Speaker 1 (31:22):
And that is why I brought up Evan Neal.
Speaker 4 (31:24):
Boo him.
Speaker 3 (31:26):
Boo him. You see him at the DMV. You see
him crossing 7th Avenue.
Speaker 1 (31:31):
Boom.
Speaker 3 (31:34):
The DMV.
Speaker 8 (31:36):
You see him picking up his kids from school.
Speaker 4 (31:39):
Boom.
Speaker 9 (31:39):
Boom.
Speaker 3 (31:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (31:40):
Speaker 7 (31:43):
I would.
Speaker 3 (31:44):
I love LaGreco. He's so good.
Speaker 1 (31:47):
Hearing that sound made me think of a new segment
called Are You Kidding Me?
Speaker 3 (31:51):
I thought you were going to say boo him. Or
boo him. Two new segments. Two new segments.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
Play like the first 15 seconds. There's something that he emphasized.
He had to say something twice just to hammer it home.
Speaker 3 (32:04):
Let me hear it real quick.
Speaker 12 (32:05):
What does he do?
Speaker 3 (32:07):
Flip hot dogs and hamburgers somewhere?
Speaker 12 (32:10):
Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me?
Speaker 3 (32:13):
I'd cut his ass.
Speaker 6 (32:15):
I would.
Speaker 3 (32:16):
How dare you?
Speaker 7 (32:17):
There.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
It was the second how dare you. Because no one
understood him the first time around.
Speaker 5 (32:24):
So we had to give you a second dosing of
how dare you.
Speaker 8 (32:29):
The best part of that, the sneaky best part, is
when Don LaGreca makes fun of Evan Neal's blocking ability
by saying he would rather have the Hamburg and hot
dog flippers at tackle than Evan Neal.
Speaker 4 (32:42):
Who was the poor soul trying to get a word in?
Speaker 3 (32:44):
Who was that? Do we know?
Speaker 8 (32:45):
Rosenberg.
Speaker 4 (32:46):
Yeah, well, LaGreca wasn't having it. Know your teammate.
Speaker 8 (32:48):
It was Rosenberg trying to be a good teammate, trying
to hype him up and partake in the conversation. LaGreca's
just looking at him like, stay out of this. I
got about two more minutes.
Speaker 3 (32:59):
Let a shooter shoot, man. I got this. Rosenberg, I
got this one. I'm good. Go to the bathroom. Come
back in 10. Are you kidding me? How dare you?
Speaker 8 (33:14):
The best part of this is if Evan Neal has
those comments in Jacksonville, Nobody says anything, but the fact
that you had the audacity to say it in the
New York market.
Speaker 2 (33:25):
Yes.
Speaker 8 (33:26):
I think, I think LaGreca kind of went easy on him.
Speaker 1 (33:28):
Well, it's a New York market. It's their special brand
of media. It's Don LaGreca. It's the city that leads
the league, leads the cities and people who flip hot
dogs and hamburgers for a living.
Speaker 3 (33:42):
It's ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (33:43):
What was Evan Neal thinking?
Speaker 11 (33:46):
There is a moment as a producer when you hand
somebody like Don LaGreca.
Speaker 3 (33:50):
Hey, You see what Evan Neal said?
Speaker 2 (33:52):
Oh, yeah.
Speaker 11 (33:53):
And you watch the fire burn and you just go,
going to be a good show today.
Speaker 3 (33:57):
It's going to be a good show today. I got one.
Don's got it. Don's got this one. Oh, God.
Speaker 1 (34:06):
That is so good. LaGreca is a classic. He really
is just a classic New York sports radio host. He
is so good.
Speaker 4 (34:13):
His act would not work in any other market, but
it works there.
Speaker 1 (34:16):
And it works unbelievably well. Get him on the show.
I want LaGreca. And I want poor Peter Rosenberg. All right, Mikey,
what happened to you?
Speaker 3 (34:30):
So it's fantasy season here.
Speaker 1 (34:31):
Field Yates is going to join us this week to
get you ready for your fantasy drafts coming up. But
you are paying off something from last year's fantasy league.
Speaker 3 (34:39):
Is that right?
Speaker 11 (34:39):
So I did not lose my fantasy.
Speaker 3 (34:43):
I have lost in the past. This was not my loss.
Speaker 11 (34:45):
And we have a few punishments if you are the
loser of our fantasy league that you can choose from.
Speaker 3 (34:51):
Right.
Speaker 11 (34:51):
And the person who lost in our league chose he
had to perform seven minutes of stand-up comedy at a
comedy club.
Speaker 7 (34:59):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (35:00):
Okay. OK. Yeah. Now, I thought this was a punishment
for him. Like, ha ha.
Speaker 11 (35:06):
You have to go up there and you have to
do seven minutes of stand up and you're not a comedian.
Speaker 7 (35:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (35:10):
And seven minutes seems like a short amount of time
until you're on stage and the entire place is looking
at you.
Speaker 4 (35:16):
And it feels like three hours, you know.
Speaker 11 (35:19):
And I went down there where we're all sitting. We're
right by the stage. I mean, I've got my foot
on the stage. He's going to see me. And it's
a packed house. And then he texts us the lineup
from backstage.
Speaker 6 (35:32):
Right.
Speaker 3 (35:33):
And there are 13 comedians, all of them amateurs. He
is up 11th. And it turned out to be a
punishment for me. Really?
Speaker 11 (35:44):
Because 11 comedians that aren't comedians trying to fill seven
minutes each.
Speaker 7 (35:53):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (35:53):
Let's do it.
Speaker 7 (35:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (35:55):
It was bad. That's tough.
Speaker 11 (35:57):
It was so quiet during some jokes that it made
me laugh out of being uncomfortable.
Speaker 3 (36:03):
Right.
Speaker 1 (36:04):
And when you get that lineup, you want your friend
to be first, second, third, fourth. So you're out of
there in like 45 minutes. Sneak right out.
Speaker 3 (36:10):
Hey, listen, I'm going to. I mean, two drink minimum
wasn't enough.
Speaker 11 (36:15):
There was no amount of alcohol that was going to
save whoever that girl was that was up fourth.
Speaker 3 (36:21):
Right.
Speaker 11 (36:22):
I don't know that she got anybody to smile and
her parents were in the audience.
Speaker 3 (36:26):
So your friend was 11th. That's funny. Your friend was 11.
Speaker 1 (36:29):
So 10 amateur comedians in front of your friend, who's
also an amateur comedian trying to fill seven minutes.
Speaker 4 (36:35):
Were all the acts seven minutes?
Speaker 7 (36:37):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (36:38):
Some of them went long. They thought they were killing it,
so they went long.
Speaker 11 (36:44):
And, Stu, this might be a little inside baseball for
some of our– they were all so Long Island because
this was on Long Island.
Speaker 2 (36:51):
Yes.
Speaker 11 (36:51):
They were– I mean, just– and I'm talking to my daughter,
and she comes over.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
I got to go to the OBGYN. I got to
get a pap smear.
Speaker 3 (37:00):
And I'm just sitting there going, oh, my God, this
is so bad. I just want this to end. I'm
being punished, not him.
Speaker 4 (37:05):
So 10 Don LaGreca's.
Speaker 8 (37:09):
Sounded like diana rossini's mom that impression.
Speaker 3 (37:12):
That's kind of what it sounds like i mean.
Speaker 1 (37:14):
She's jersey right uh don la greca giving that take
on stage would be more entertaining.
Speaker 5 (37:21):
I would have laughed you would have laughed he would
have stolen the show oh my god so Figure, like, what,
80 minutes before your friend came on, right?
Speaker 3 (37:33):
Maybe? Yeah, at least. Yeah. That's so bad.
Speaker 1 (37:36):
It's like those dance recitals. Like, you know, Emma was
a dancer, Rachel played lacrosse. But the dance recital, the
lineup would come out, and you would pray that your
daughter's dance was one of the first three or four.
Speaker 4 (37:47):
If she was placed at, like, 27.
Speaker 3 (37:48):
Oh, is that right?
Speaker 1 (37:50):
You have to sit through 26 dances before you get
there for the only reason you're there, which is to
see your daughter dance.
Speaker 4 (37:57):
And she would have four dances. They would sprinkle them out.
It was ridiculous. I would go play nine holes in
between dances and come back.
Speaker 3 (38:03):
How about that? Huh? There was, there was one guy
who came out that was so stage fright.
Speaker 11 (38:09):
I think it was immersion therapy where he was just
kind of going like this in the microphone.
Speaker 8 (38:15):
So, uh, Mikey, you know what you should have done?
Speaker 4 (38:19):
Boom.
Speaker 3 (38:23):
Are you kidding me?
