(00:43):
I hope you're having an absolutely, absolutely spectacular Tuesday. Summer
has arrived to southern California. That that that that looks
like the sun. It's warm here, I know it's warm
everywhere else. Hopefully you're great. We won't talk hockey, although
I've heard the hockey is great and interesting and tied
it to a piece. We will talk NBA basketball. We

(01:04):
do have some NFL stuff for you, as the NFL
is considering dropping preseason games and people like okay, that's good,
like not actually close to how it works, like half
of the story. The other half of the story is
super super interesting. Corey Brewer's gonna joinas in studio. We'll
talk some NBA hoop, both free agency and actual X

(01:27):
and O of basketball. Anthony Lynn, Lightning bolt head coach
will join us in two hours and we'll take it
down to New Orleans. Scott Kutcher covers the team will
join us in the third and final hour of the show.
Speaking of New Orleans, Shams Sharania from Stadium Sports reports

(01:50):
that the Pelicans have started listening to trade offers from
for uh, for from teams for Anthony Davis. Wait, what's it?
What's that? I hear s that's a trade offer? Now,
that's not a trade offer that that's a trade officer
like you hear that now, I've heard that for months.

(02:12):
That's not a trade baby, that is let's start listening
to these trade offers. Huh. So they're listening to trade offers.
Anthony Davis's preferred teams are still the Lakers, the Knicks,
and the Clippers. So you'd like to be in l

(02:33):
A or like to be in New York, and those
are the teams we would assume would be in pole
position because well, he could potentially, sir uh, sign a
long term deal with those teams and he would be
willing to stay without even spending a year there. What's
fascinating about that is I don't know what the Knicks

(02:57):
really have to offer, and frankly, I'm not sure outside
of young players and young talent that's less proven than
the Lakers, the Clippers actually have to offer. The Lakers
have the best assets and are the primary desired destination
of Anthony Davis. I look at this and I think,

(03:19):
but the Lakers should win this bidding war absolutely. And
then you combine that story with the story we shared
with you yesterday Bill Plaski, who works for us here
at Fox Sports Radio. He's a lot long time calmness
with the l A Times report yesterday that if the
Lakers were to strike out on free agents and of

(03:42):
course in the trade market, that Lebron might then consider
wanting to be traded, which is that's a there's a
lot there. I feel like the Lakers and the Pelicans
reigniting trade discussions is a lot like the end of
the movie to the depart at it. Remember the departed,

(04:04):
and the whole movie was essentially about trying to figure
out who is the stitch, who is the rat, who
was the bad guy. As soon as we found that out,
well then the movie had meaning, had had at a

(04:25):
completely different tongue like oh oh ha ha ha ha.
Well think about it here. Before we didn't know if
it was Magic Johnson leaking out doing everything in public
because he thought, I'm Magic Johnson and this is how

(04:47):
you do things. Or was it Del Demps who didn't
like the fact that the Lakers held him hostage, and
some had thought he was inept as a general manager
in over his head, and some had thought it was
Rich Paul, who of course is the agent for both
Lebron and Anthony Davis and by most people's estimation, tried

(05:08):
to strong arm both teams into making it happen to
keep both his clients happy and to build his power
base in the NBA. Well, now David Griffin is the
general manager of the Pelicans, and Magic Johnson is working
harder as an analyst and showing up more as analyst
than he did as the president because he's no longer

(05:29):
president of basketball operations. And with those two things, those
two are out. Only Rich Paul remains in the same
place he was in when the trade discussions first came up.
And if it still doesn't get done, doesn't show that
Rich Rich Paul is the meddler. Anthony Davis wants to

(05:49):
be there. They want Anthony Davis. The Lakers have more
and better assets than either of the other two teams
listed as his preferred destination. Let's make a deal. And
if it doesn't get done and he gets public and
he gets ugly, who's the rat? Well, magic's gone? Delt dempster,

(06:12):
ha a ha, A little bit right. And let me
just say this in regards I said this on Cowherd show.
I've said this before. Now I am somebody who we're
still we'd still my can we'ed still move like I'm

(06:35):
not gonna say never it can be done. We were
in northern Connecticut when I was at ESPN for nine
years and it was really really hard to leave. And
it's a cool place, you know. I look the way
that company has gone, some of the decisions they've made,
I don't agree with um. They still have a lot

(06:55):
of great people and do a lot of really good
things there. I had zero issues when I worked there
and they offered me a great contract extension. It was
really hard to leave because the difference in that place
and any other place in this business is there's everyone lived.
There's like five thousand, six thousand people worked there. Everybody
kind of lives around there, so there is a connection

(07:16):
between work and the rest of your life, and there's
camaraderie or there, at least we were there. There was
camaraderie there, and we're part of something and we're in
small town. It was hard. So we moved and we're
in southern California for twenty two months, and then I
was at CBS and they're like, hey, we want you
to move back, only to a different part of connect

(07:37):
Or to New York. Really and so had we simply
moved indtionally from Connecticut to New York, it had been fine.
But from Connecticut to l At to Orange County to
New York it was hard. And then we were in
southern Connecticut for three years and then out here now
for two years. So look, I am not anti move guy,

(08:01):
but I will tell you, like, once your kids get
into high school, that's a really hard thing to rip
them up. And when when they're little when they're elementary school, Like,
as soon as they go to school, they have a
best friend. As soon as they play soccer, they got
ten for best friends. Or baseball or football or basketball.
As soon as they start doing sports stuff boys and

(08:23):
girls softball, they have a bunch of friends. But once
you get to high school, like kind of your feet
are kind of in cement there. You can do it.
It can happen. Lebron likes l A. Lebron doesn't see
himself as the problem in l A. His whole crew

(08:44):
is out here, not just his family, but Rich Paul
and all of his associates. They have all moved Lebron
James Inc. To southern California. Lebron's son, Brawny, starts high
school in the fall. Dwayne Wade's son is gonna join
him in a place called Sierra Canyon, which is a
budding basketball factory. That's gonna be a kind of a hike,

(09:05):
but it will be reverse, a reverse commute in terms
of against traffic every morning. The point is like, he
ain't going anywhere. Well, he doesn't have a no trade clause,
Yes he does, He's Lebron James. His no trade clauses
that's cute. I'm not going I'm not gonna play for
Jim Dolan. I'm not gonna play for Brooklyn. The Lakers

(09:29):
aren't going to trade him to the Clippers and give
away there and give away what they have financially invested
in him. No chance, They just aren't. Probably isn't done
the place that he could go anyway, and he doesn't
want to move. You guys screwed it up. You guys
fix it. He's not moving. They're getting players, They're gonna

(09:52):
try and figure it out. And the Pelicans just said
they're open for business. And if it doesn't get done,
it's because Rich Paul continues to screw this thing up,
because he's the only one who remains from the last
time these two sides got together. David Thorpe's an NBA
analyst for True Hoop. He joined the show coming next
What what does he think Anthony Davis ends up? Plus

(10:13):
with no Kevin Durant, no Clay can the Warriors keep
up with the Raptors yet again, this time in Oakland?

(11:23):
this is for David Dorp, where eye coach players and
coaches like I do my pros. He joins us on
the Doug Gotlip Show on Fox Sports Radio. UM yesterday,
David I said like, look, I get that staff's amazing. Um,
I think they're passing and the overall basketball I Q
of this team will forever be underrated. But no one

(11:45):
seems to point out that Steve Kerr and his staff
making credible adjustments and change the way they play and
get them good shots and change defensively better at halftime
than anybody. As as an analyst and a guy that
breaks this thing down to the minute minute detail, what
are your thoughts on Kur as a coach. He's incredible. Yeah,

(12:06):
I mean I wouldn't say nowhere talks about it because
I definitely been talking about it for five years now.
Uh he he is. In fact, I wrote this yesterday.
I think the Raptors may have found there Steve Kerr
and Nick Nurse. I'm very impressed with what Nick has
done with Toronto and and continues to do, you know,
up for the last game, going with a sixth grade
version of a boxing one that at the perfect time.

(12:27):
But Kurb Kerr checks all the boxes. Dog, He's he's
a motivator. He built bridges into his player's hearts great
with ex he came up with more or less their
offensive scheme. I mean, obviously its seals from lots of things,
but it was his basic design. There's been great articles
about how he did it. Uh, he's got an amazing tone.
I think his players trust him. He coaches lots of

(12:48):
different kinds of players and lots of different kinds of egos,
and that they sit. They they looked differently year to year,
and the results other than the one game seven with
where Curry was a shellot himself and they kep winning
every year. And here they are again with a plate
beat up team, it's not a very beat up team,
and they still got a great chance. So I give
Korean and the culture. There's not a credit. Yeah, um okay,

(13:10):
so they are beat up. Let's assume they don't have
um let's assume they don't have Kevin Durant and probably
I don't know if they're Clay thinks he's gonna play like.
I don't understand how the hamstring is gonna get that
much better in this short period of time. How do
you think game three plays out? Well, if they are smart,

(13:32):
they don't play play and they risk going down to one.
I get it. But if they don't play him, he
definitely has an increased chance of playing and grief and
chance of playing the game four. Uh. You also, I
think can manipulate his minutes. You can't play him thirty
five or forty with with a bad hand, as you know,
but you might ever get four minutes a quarter, six
minutes the quarter up. You know that that could work,

(13:53):
especially if you've kind of change things up, bring them
off the bets a little bit yest and scoring, you know,
some popping that second group. But I mean, let's be honest.
First of all, come on, Luny Doug is Nick Jerky's
tasko Takom. He'll be a different tasko Yakom. Right, He's
not going to score the way Siatom camp. But he's
a fantastic player, not not a good fantastic young player,
especially on the defensive. Then top thirty and he is

(14:16):
Kan's real plus minus ahead of Kawai Leonard and he's doubt.
So that's a huge loss to them. Luckily for them
they have the markets who look think he's coming in.
But I'll be honest if you tell me play doesn't
play again, Luni doesn't play again, Durant doesn't play in
this finals. I would say the Raptors are favorites. I
don't think they win three trade, but they're the favorite.
Long as step Curry's on someone's team, everyone's gonna get

(14:38):
open shots. But I do think Duran will come back
at some point, which is why it's imperative Toronto wins. Now.
I thought they had to win game one. It's a
dissaster for them. The law came too, because I do
think minus more injuries, they're gonna get stronger when they
get Katie back. UM watching right now as uh NBA
TV has on shoot around here for the Warriors and

(14:59):
Clay to Thompson seems fine because I mean, now we
know that's not running up and down guarding somebody or whatever. Um,
what if if they are if they do have Clay Thompson,
can the Raptors beat him? Sure? Uh, there's just a

(15:21):
bigger margin of prayer. I always looked at it fifth way.
You know that the margin of you know, if you
have should a really flat shot, you're going to make
some shots, but your margin faryer goes down the rim
is bigger. As you know, if you have a better
angle of agery. What's no different than games. Uh, the
Warriors have more market. Let's face it, they were really bad.
I thought for much of Game one on the office
than Clay was incredible, and I thought the game was lost.

(15:45):
Not in the third quarter where they wanted to eight
you know, runs going they did, but in the second
when I thought that the Talks got a chance to
get their own. Could have stepped on their neck. Ye
could have stepped on their neck. Yeah, And you have
to get that team. You have to because you know
a are just coming, if not two or three surgies.
In this case, it was just one and that's all
it took. That was a knockout punch. And I mean,

(16:06):
let's say the dog they they had enough points, which
five and a half minutes told of play in the
fourth quarter, game was already over. The Raptors never reached
that total the rest of the game. So I think
with Clay they've got more of a margin. Again, I
think the Looney injury is a big deal unless Cousins
and and and cous into the good team to look
at two Doug because Kerr had put him on a
minute limit more or less twenty for Game two, he

(16:28):
ended up pushing into twenty eight. Although DeMarcus clearly with
gas for period to the second half I think they
can do the same thing with Clay as I think
they likely will unless he just deals. Fine. Uh, it
put him on a minute limit, which which will help Toronto.
Clay helps him a great deal obviously on both ends
when he when he's locked in, I think it'll be
a great game because of it. It's play, is be
gonna play. It'll be a great game. I don't see

(16:50):
tronks of blowing them away, and I always think go
and Stays a chance to do that, and so yeah,
that just increases the probability of gold and to ends
of winning. Doug Gotli Show, Fox Sports Radio. David Torpe
is apart lead analyst for True Hoop dot Com. Um
let's let's we'll circle back to the finals. We find
out today that Anthony Davis prefers three teams Lakers, Knicks, Clippers. Um,

(17:14):
I don't feel like the Knicks have the assets that
the Lakers have, nor do the Clippers frankly have the
assets the Lakers have. He isn't isn't this back to
the Lakers and Pelicans should in fact do a deal
in the best interest of both teams. We're best friends,
my man, Because I've been writing that for a long time.
I did it. I did an article maybe I don't

(17:34):
even know, a couple of months ago where it's to
me it was a no brainer. You had to do
a deal with the Lakers. By the way, I don't
believe anything that you're reading. I don't believe there's three teams.
It's just one team. It's always just been one team.
He wants to play with Lebron. Lebron did not sign
a long term deal to go to l A without
thinking or at least knowing in his mind that he
was getting Davis to come. That's my opinion anyway, and

(17:56):
my partner, Henry Habit, agreed. We talked. We talked with
it for months. Just is always going to be the case.
Magic and whoever with the Lakers screwed it up, the
Pelican divit and screwed it up because I agree with you.
I think the Lakers to have the best at said
I was. In fact, the article I wrote about this
was focused on brandon Ingram. I didn't understand why everyone
thought Jason Kadum was by far the diamond of the deal,

(18:18):
and not ingram Ingram's only eight months older and it's
a better proven score without even shooting good yet. Now
obviously this I wrote this before he had the blood
plot issue, assuming he'ds fine. I think Ingram is gonna
be fantastic, and you can load up with rotation or
quality starters, with a couple of guys like a Lonzo
and an Ingram that can be all stars. And they

(18:39):
could have Dubox. They could have do but that they
if they had done the deal early enough. Who was
a very good center for a young Clippers team. So
I think they screwed up. David Griffin's a friend of mine, terrific.
He'll do the best thing for the franchise, not just
for the Pride Negro that was hurt for the Pelicans.
I think you'd go into the Lakers and I just
want the beginning of the teams you're involved at all.

(19:00):
Then you got Kawhi Leonard. The latest story is that
he or somebody close to his bought property in Toronto.
We don't know the validity of that. We also don't
know if it's an investment vehicle or whatever. If it's
just temperate I I don't know. Um the Clippers do
seem to fit like he likes below the radar. They
have that kind of grit and mentality is the championship coach.

(19:22):
On the other hand, here he could be a hero
in Toronto, or he could pick his destination. How he
could be a Laker. What do you think about about
where Kauai plays next year? So we published a news
letter after game one where we reported and I actually
I reported that not only do I think that that
Toronto makes the most sense, but that's what our sources, uh,

(19:43):
inside everything is telling us is that he's left going
to go back on a short term deal, maybe like
the one plus one. That's what we're hearing. It makes
the most sense to me scoring thirty two in game
one to me with the clincher. Uh. You know, he
doesn't have what Lebron had in incredible close friends like
Foxion that have won medals together. Uh. He doesn't have

(20:03):
that connection somewhere else. You know, it's a risk Lebron
new Dwyane Wade had the kind of personality just say,
you know what, this is your team, because he'd already
done that team, you would say, and of course of
exactly what he did after the first month or so
in Miami, he had literally publicly said um second fiddle
in his sex is basically what he admitted and we
saw what happened, So why doesn't have that luxury. He's

(20:24):
got Yakom right there, who was not Dwayne Wade. He's
not going to be if he's an all story, he'll
be an all story. Won't be first or second till
one day, I don't think. But he's got big Marcus
all in there, he's got friends and leaders. It's his team,
and talk about out of the way, he's not even
in America. I think it's a perfect fit for the
short term. And to me, here's the most important thing.

(20:46):
Unlike the Lakers, although I love what the Clippers are doing,
not a whole lot of teams have proven they can
win pretty much no matter what. Toronto third in the NBA,
believe in regular season wins in the last five years,
and now they've made it to the finals and have
these one win in the finals. Uh again, they checked
every box you could want for Kauai and we're we're
we're hearing he's gonna stay for at least a short

(21:08):
from deal. Wow. Okay, what about Kyrie Irving? Absolutely no idea.
Although I never thought he was going back to Boston.
It's it's certainly possible, you know very well as as
a former player yourself. Uh, they're just human beings like
we all are. They're fluid right with their decision making.
I don't think Kauai was considering going back to Boston

(21:28):
for quite a wild I don't know where else he
would go, and he might change his mind. I guess.
I guess the Lakers will be an option. But yeah,
I don't have any insights to that other than I
never thought he was going back to Boston, which is
why I said they should have traded them in the
draft time last year. So the young guys said all
the minutes an opportunity following their great postseason run last year.
Doug Gotlives show here on Fox Sports Radio. Okay, So, um,

(21:51):
if all this happens, do the Clippers come up empty
handed or they overpaid Jimmy Butler? Does Jimmy Butler stay
like that's you know, considering how much the media, especially
in the public, really like what the Clippers are doing
and people like Steve Bahmer, what ends up happening there?
I happen to think it's a fantastic franchise. I think

(22:12):
it's one of the real improved. It is one of
the real improved franchise we have in the NBA. They
make good decisions, their processes are smart, report we see
decisions off the court that have worked well. I don't
I know you're having Corey Brewer on Lanter. You know,
Corey has been one of my guys for ten years.
He actually is a genius about basketball. He just played

(22:33):
the fun cool guys, but he's incredibly bright basketball mind.
I'm gonna listen to what he has to say and
I'll text him afterwards and get into more infos. But
I think the Clippers are super smart and what they'll
do is probably even if a guy, you know you
made a convent overpay, I want to argue with you.
But great cranchises tend to find a way to make
do with whatever they have to do right, And so

(22:54):
the Clippers, to me and one of those teams now,
they're gonna find a way to continue to improve no
matter what's the market. Ticketape for them could be fascinating,
fascinating stuff. Um alright, Uh, last thing Kemba Walker has.
Kemba Walker is an all NBA guy now and he
could sign the super Max deal and just be the guy,

(23:16):
and like, look, my old pal, Tom Brennans, why didn't
you move out of Vermont. Hey, there's fifty states, pal,
and I own one of them. Right, so he could
There's thirty teams and he could own one, and that's
more money, Like I wouldn't even if he knows he'll
never compete for a championship. And frankly, this year, like
he gets two months off more so than anybody else

(23:36):
in any other star in the NBA. But there is
the allure of Brooklyn, there is the lure of New York.
And he's coming off his best season. It's not like
he would be making chump change. Does kempa state in Charlotte? Well,
that's the vating questions for state and and and part
of the South even uh, you look at it to me,

(23:57):
and I helpt a lot of players down, I would
look at it two ways. Uh. Let if it's indeed
they supermax, and we don't know for sure if they will,
we have to look at that. And he might be
in aditional one day to own a team to make
the NBA if I don't sare to say, but that
kind of money, he won't be the majority owner unless
he invests in something incredibly well? Does it? What does well?
But the other hand is do you want to try

(24:18):
to win a championship? And where do you go? I
just feel like that you got to look at the
offers on the table, right, So once he sees what
are the opportunities there, he's gonna look at the costs
because it's if going to cost something. There's a tax
anywhere you go that isn't in Charlotte, and so to
me the way that with your family, nobody would begrust
you to stay. But the kind of money they can offer,

(24:38):
it's indeed they offer. The bigger question is does Charlots
from not knowing it a year, he might be complaining,
can you trade me now? Which is kind of what
the players want to do. Is they want to get
the contract first, and then if if you don't own
up to where the player find if the team doesn't,
I want out, And so you gotta factor that in.
If you're a team I don't know that they are
from the max because it all right, let's get back

(25:01):
to this series. You mentioned Pascal Siakam unbelievable in the
first game, and two people who have only watched the
first game disappointing in the second game. Why the variants.
I mean, he's not Lebron James, right, he's not Steph Curry. Uh.
And I thought, and I don't think this is a
unique anyone watching the games, I thought, going stage just

(25:22):
playing with a lot more force. It's it's a mystic
thing that players played the same all the time, and
they're not robots. I thought, going State played Finding game one,
and then we saw the reference game too and realized, oh,
they have a whole another gear to brain. And frankly,
this is what this team has done. I thought, you
you're out there. I thought, after they gave up the
thirty one point lead in games two at home against

(25:45):
the Clippers, and then they destroyed the Clippers in game
three in l A. And then they did the same
thing in game six, that's being okay, that was That's
who they are, right. They are cable of just promoing you.
And that goes to five years experience for most of
those guys and amazing coach and and I am I
saying the best player in the game Steth Curry. And
I think if they did mark for all that, and

(26:06):
I think they knew we can't let them do what
he's doing because Kauaiam actually through the end of the
game the other day, he's been a little bit off.
They they kind of solved him a little bit, and
so you can't let go for thirty for twenty they
did their jobs and the Raptors didn't play great and
that that definitely helped them too. Awesome stuff, David Thorpe.
Check out True who got to True hoop dot com.

(26:26):
He's also author of Basketball is Jazz and you can
hear him or Henry Abbott was on my podcast last week.
He did an amazing job. David, we'll catch up again.
Thanks so much for join us and giving us incredible
insight into the league. Alright, David Doorpe joining us to
sketch you to uh quick update my man Isaac Loewen
kron is with us. I quity got perfect timing dog

(26:49):
because seconds ago. Steve Kirk confirmed that Kevin Durant will
not play in Game three of the NBA Finals. He
said Andre Iguodala is good to go for Game three.
Kevon Looney is out for the series as expected, Clay
Thompson is questionable. Igu Dolla went through practice as you mentioned.
Thompson when reporters first entered the practice floor at Oracle Arena,

(27:12):
was off to the side with Kerr and Bob Myers,
then got some shots up after practice. So that's the
very latest against Steve Kirk confirming a short time ago
that Kevin Durant will not play in Game three, he
said Clay is officially questionable as I don't know right

(27:33):
ham strings canna be tricky as we found out about
calf muscles elsewhere. Sean's TROWNTI reports that David Griffin and
the New Orleans Pelicans have begun listening to teams about
potential trade offers for Anthony Davis into the NFL on
the first day of O t A S where Cleveland
running back Duke Johnson reiterated today that he still wants

(27:55):
to be traded and I failed to ask. I've been
lawyer to his organization do it all, and the moment
that I don't don't have loyalty, But that's stopping from
doing my job. Of course, not like that's not gonna
stop me me being upsetting, me being you know, I
still want to be traded, would not stop me from

did not seem amused. You know, it's self inflicted. It

(28:17):
is what it is. That's not awkward for anybody else
in this building. He's got his do his job, he said.
He's a professional. I hope he does his job. Another
great quote from Brown's new head coach, Freddie Kitchen, who
said about Johnson, he wants to be traded. I want
to win the lottery. It doesn't matter he's under contract.
He's a Cleveland Brown. Finally, in the NHL, it's Game

see the story from meeting Rappaport? So Todd Gurley apparently

(29:28):
is has lost some weight. Uh, he's down half a
dozen pounds to to eighteen. Tempt to lighten the load
on that that gimpy knee. Sean McVeigh addressed the reports
of Girl's desire to play at a lower weight, saying,
I want him to feel most comfortable. That's the most
important thing, what he feels he can function at being
the all purpose back that he's been. And that's where

(29:50):
we're at. So he says, I'd rather play five or
ten pounds lighter. He's gonna feel better about that. That's
exactly what he'll what we'll do. He's earned the right
to be able to tell us how he's feeling with
the give and take as long as that's why, which
I know he does. We're always recepted to those things.
That was a classic. That is an amazing non answer

(30:10):
answer from Sean McVeigh. Right, Look, he told us he
wants to play five or ten pounds lighter. So he
communicated it. He didn't say like, I don't like it.
He didn't say, well he was too heavy last year.
He just kind of said nothing. That's what McVeigh classically does.
This is more telling. This is from Ian Rappaport on
the NFL Networks NFL Total Access last night. Quote. The

(30:35):
days of Todd Gurley being the straight up every down
bell cow are probably over. Just based on his knee,
his age, the position, the amount of carries he's had.
It's probably not gonna be like that, which is maybe
why the Rams drafted a running back in the third round,
someone they like a lot this team, This is a
team that is clearly ready to spread the ball around. Wow. Wait,

(30:57):
what of course girl's kne either wear the tear on
that knee surgery group paired knee is something is something
that everyone knows has been concerning the team for some time.
All they really want is Girly to come back when
the season begins and when it's really time to be
What they don't want is to have all those questions
leading up to the Super Bowl to repeat before week one. Wow.

(31:21):
Remember they drafted uh Darryl Henderson out of Memphis in
the third round. That's not where this is troubling. That's
not where the issue is. Do you guys remember the
Todd Gurley contract extension. Yeah, that was before last season,
a year before they had to Like there's a lot

(31:43):
of reasons and we'll get to this why I'm not
convinced the NFL is going to relent and give guaranteed
you know, fully guaranteed contracts. And this is a big
reason why. Right, Like Ian Rappaport, Remember he's like, well,

(32:03):
the age does anybody know how old Todd Gurley is?
Ryany's you want to without looking you want to take
a guess the the age of Todd Gurley and the
wear and tear on his knee. Do you want to
take a guess how old he is? I'm gonna say
he's I'm he's still twenty four. Oh yeah. By the way,
that new big contract, Yeah that that's a thirty four

(32:28):
million and dead cap money this year, twenty five million
and dead cap money the next year. Woof oof a
eight point four the following year four point two the
year after that. It's a terrible deal with terrible foresight.
And I'm sure the idea was going to last year, like, hey, look,

(32:49):
if we take care of this now, remember this is
the free up money last year for getting set for
Aaron Donald to have a long term deal. But I'm
I'm reading I in rapports say, hey, the knee, the age,
the wear and tearing. Hey, he's twenty four. It's like

(33:10):
the opposite of of the rest of your life, right,
like for thirty, forty is the new thirty, all right,
and fifty is the new forty. People feel act younger
than ever. With the exception apparently of star running backs
in the NFL that suffering knee injuries in college. My
guess is he probably didn't have the surgery, probably wasn't

(33:32):
perfect out of college, and if you remember, he didn't
miss an entire calendar year. He came back and played
in his rookie season, and he started playing the Nation
Football League at like twenty years old. But dude, he's
under contract for forty nine million dollars up until two

(33:57):
one and they're already talking about him back. What are

This is game time on the Doug gott Leap Show.
Isaac Lowenkron joins the second reminder. Game times brought you
by discovered cards. We treat you like you, treat you
ike what new Let's see what will it be today? Doug?
What are the chances. We just announced the news that
Steve Kurr confirming Kevin Durant out for Game three. Clay

(35:32):
Thompson is questionable. So despite all the Warriors injuries, Caesar's
in Vegas has Steph Curry favored to win Finals M
v P at minus two hundred. The next best odds
Kauai at plus two eighty Draymond Green at plus six fifty.
So what are the chances that this is the year

(35:52):
that Curry finally wins Finals M v P um Pretty good?
I mean, I would say if I mean, there's a
reason he's a favorite, he's people think the Warriors are
gonna win, and he's the only star who's completed both
of the first two games, right, So that that sounds reasonable.

(36:15):
I'd say there's a sixty five chance. Problem is if
they lose tonight, then Kad comes back and they win
the next three. You know, how couldn't you see his value?
And step didn't actually shoot the ball well in Game two,
But you're in a boxing one on a guy that
that that reeks of respect. Alfonso McKinney, this might be
your chance. Now back to the NBA and let the

(36:38):
conspiracy theories begin. Of course, everyone continues to speculate about
where Kevin Durant will sign in the off season. Is
a good conspiracy theory music The latest is this Now
Currently on the Nike website, you can buy a shirt
from Kevin Durant's line that lists every city he's ever

(36:59):
played in, both growing up, through college, and even in
the pros. Some people on Twitter pointed out, while rooting
the tinfoil out of their hair that it lists Oakland
as well as San Francisco, which the Warriors will not
play in until next season in their new arena. What
are the chances Nike has already leaked where Durant is

(37:23):
gonna play next season? The truth is out there. Uh.
I still think it's a chance. You know, you win
if he wins the title, especially again if he helps
lead this team on a comeback. It's just hard to
walk away from three titles in a row. I know

(37:43):
Jordan did it. I get it. Took a year and
a half off, came back, won three more titles. And
maybe that's the path that he thinks that he can
be on. But why take that time off? Why not
go for four? Why not go for five? Why not
go for six? Do something that has never been done
in this era of professional sports. Um So, I still

(38:05):
think it's you know, I don't think that the T
shirt means anything. I think the results and how he
feels means everything. Yeah, most likely a situation corrected by
someone over the Nike website calling their I T department
and having a help ticket put in onto the NFL.
Dez Bryant, the former Cowboy receiver, was asked by someone

(38:25):
on Twitter if he still wants to play in the
NFL and responded, of course, I'm interested in playing, But
to be brutally honest, I'm dealing with something that's more
beneficial to my life. I stand strong on I'm more
than the athlete. I'm a father and entrepreneur that need
make way more recognition towards that matter. What are the
chances that Dez Bryant will never play in another NFL game?

(38:51):
Chances I'd say only a chance he doesn't play in
an NFL game. Um Again, I don't know how effective
he'll be, and he still is going to have to
probably sit another six months before he plays. But the
idea that Dez Bryant will never play again, I he

(39:12):
will play, will he be effective? Completely different questions. And finally,
TMC Sports reports that multiple NBA teams have had high
level conversations about doing away with the term owner. Already.
The seventies six Ers use the term managing partners and
the Clippers use the term chairman. What are the chances

(39:34):
all thirty NBA teams eventually move on from the term owner,
probably better than you think. Um, I think this is
embarrassing personally, I think this is you know, PC, please
run amuck. But I think that it becomes a trend
and people feel bad about it and they're like, all right,

(39:56):
find it. Do I still own the team? Yeah? You
just can't say you own the team? Like, okay, fine,
I'll go sixty chance this happen? You know what? One
final note? I just paid off my car, so I'm
the new chairperson? Yes, yes, this is game time on

(40:20):
the Duck Gottli Show. What exactly are we doing? Right?
What exactly are we doing? No one said you own people,
you own the team. You pay a couple billion dollars
for a team that's yours, You own it, you own
the rights. Many guys own the arena and then the

(40:42):
players work for them. So are we doing this in
every business. Uh NBA champion Corey Brewer joins the show.

them next. Fox Sports Radio has the best boards talk

short time ago, Golden State head coach Steve Kerr updated
the status is of Kevin Durant and Clay Thompson for
Wednesday night's third game of the NBA Finals. Kevin won't
play tomorrow, but he's ramping up his uh exercise routine

(41:25):
his workouts. Clay is day to day so he's questionable,
and Loon is out you know for the for the
series that will be Cavan Looney. Kerr also said that
andre Iguodala will play in Game three on Wednesday after
participating in practice today. Sean Tranti reports that David Griffin
and the New Orleans Pelicans have begun listening to teams

(41:47):
about potential trade offers for Anthony Davis and in the NFL.
The first day of o t A S today, Brown's
running back Duke Johnson reiterated that he still wants to
be traded him Isaac Long on Krown What Up to
Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio, brought to you by Farmers.

(42:12):
At Farmers, we've seen almost everything, so we know how
to cover almost anything his game time. Haven't experienced player
help you stay at the game, but their experience in
a play at Farmers dot com, we are Uh. He's
a two time national champion in college. He's an NBA champion.
He's Corey Brewer. He'll join his in studio here momentarily
on the Doug Gottlip Show. Let me give you a
kind of the update of the story of the day

(42:34):
in the league or stories of the day in the league.
Clay Thompson, though he didn't necessarily participate full go at
shoot around. Um, he did come out of the court
and shoot and move around, and he didn't look like
he was hobbled. And Steve Kerr said that he's questionable
for tomorrow night's NBA game. Kevin Durant is out for
tomorrow night's NBA game, and uh, we'll we'll see if

(42:59):
if Clay can play. We'll get Corey to break down
what it means if Clay plays, Do they have a
chance If Clay doesn't play, and then we'll do hot
take segment. Are the Warriors better without Clay Thompson? Is
he really screwing? Because remember we had that Kevin Durant
thing that people are like, oh, they're better without Kevin Durant, Like, no, no,
they're still just good. Anyway, we'll get to Corey Brewer

(43:21):
in a second. The other story the day is apparently
Anthony Davis said what he meant and meant what he
said going back months ago. Remember the David Griffin, Hey,
well let's have coffee and we'll let's talk it out
and let's chop it up and see if we can
get you to stay in New Orleans. That was last week.
Comes out today the Pelicans are already exploring trade optunities.

(43:42):
They're listening to trade offers. What's that? Yes, he did
the solid like I'm asleep on it. He wakes up
the next day, slept on it. I still want to
be traded. I wanted to sleep, but another day I
woke up. I still want to be traded. And the
three teams listed as possible destinations are the Knicks, the Clippers,

(44:05):
and the Lakers, which feels more like, look, you do
whatever you can to get leverage, but I want to
be with the Lakers. Get the best deal you can get,
That's what I want. And I do love this idea
where you're like, well, you know, all, you can't trade
the Lakers because they're in the Western Conference, Like and

(44:25):
I actually think that's the dumbest thing ever, because in
New Orleans, as much as they have trouble drawing fans one,
they have Zion that will put people in seats in two.
What would put more people to seats when Anthony Davis
comes back to town and if he's in the East,
he only comes back to town once, whereas in the
West he comes back town a bunch of times and
you can boo the hell out of him. Your job

(44:48):
when your general manager is not to trade him to
a team that you don't have to see. Your job
is to try and get the most you possibly can
for the asset you're trading away. Who care? Who cares
that they're right down the street from you. It's not
like the Pelicans are competing with the Lakers for supremacy
in the West. But I do think it's interesting that

(45:12):
here we are, like three or four months removed from
the last time these two almost danced together, and the
parties have changed. Magic's gone, Del Demps is gone. The
only guy that really remains in some sort of power
seat is Rich Paul, the agent for both Lebron and
a D. And the thing doesn't get worked, shouldn't he

(45:33):
get some of the blame. I offered up that he's
basically uh, Matt Damon in The Departed. You're trying to
figure out who the bad guy is the whole time.
Who's the snitch? Who's the snitch? Oh? If this doesn't
get done, you know where all the league stuff came from.

(45:56):
You know where all the hurt feelings came from. You
know where the teams that were list it came from.
If they can't get it done, this falls on his
shoulders because he's the one who's tried to engineer it
to begin with. Uh. And then the last thing. And
I'll welcome in Corey Brewer in a second. I said
this yesterday and it's gotten incredibly well received on social media.

(46:20):
I know we operate under this assumption that the Warriors
they just play a different way because they don't have
Kevin Durant and they just figured it all out themselves.
When k D got hurt. Is it at least possible
that a portion of it is coaching, since you know
they're the best third quarter team in the NBA since
the moment he took over his head coach. They went

(46:42):
from tent to first five consecutive years. All five years
coincide with Steve Kirby and their head coach. They lose
a player, they figure it out, They lose another player,
they figure it out. They play a big guy who
they've ever played down the stretch in a big game
in de Marcus Cousins. They figured out. They just figured out.

(47:02):
And it's not like the players are out there going like, hey,
you want to sub in? What do you want to run?
I don't know if Steve Kerr is the best coach ever,
but he's definitely the most underrated coach ever. Corey Brewer
joined us here in the Doug Gottlieb Show on Fox
Sports Radio. Let's start with the Anthony Davis thing, being
in the league, being a player, being an NBA champion.

(47:26):
When this thing was going down in February, what were
you What do you think? Um? I thought it was interesting.
Um I thought it was gonna happen in February like
when the Superstar with Anthony Davis requested the trade, like
they gotta do something right away. But when it didn't happen,
when it fell through, I was a little I was like,
this is gonna be an interesting summer. Well you mentioned
interesting stummer. Here's the possible the one thing that could

(47:48):
hold this thing up from happening until after the draft.
Last year it was Paul George was supposed to be
a Laker, right, and he goes one year in Oklahoma
City and is like, you know what, kind of like
it here, I'm staying this year it's Kawhi Leonard. And
if Kawhi Leonard goes, you know what, I'm staying in Toronto.
Doesn't that open up the trade market for Anthony Davis? Right?

(48:09):
Doesn't Boston go like we we don't care, we we'll
just we'll we'll make you feel so welcome here. All
these teams are like, we can, oh, we get a
year to pitch him on staying. Definitely, it has you
have to think that, especially if you want you're trying
to win a championship, and if you can get a
guy like Anthony Davis, you have a chance to win
the championship. In Boston. They would love to have they
do there, And like if klass days, I think teams

(48:30):
are gonna be We're gonna take a chance. Why wasn't
it Why wasn't Boston better? Um? I think it was
just different for him this year. I think they had
such success flash in the playoffs, but Kyrie really didn't play.
So then guys got their confidence. But then they it
was a different situation because Kylee is playing. Uh so
guys have to their roles are different. So again this

(48:52):
is like the people do have it more by k D.
But is is Kyrie a guy who you can like
if if he goes the Knicks, if he goes to Nets,
does he automatically make them better or just more talented?
I think he makes them better. You know, it's just
he asked to have the ball. He's one of the
best point guards in LEAE, so you have to run
your offense to him. That's what it's gonna have to be. No,

(49:13):
he's like, look, in terms of talent, he's amazing, amazing,
but he's not a great first of all. Like I
I talked to somebody in Boston and they said, like
he guarded Kawhi Leonard just because he wanted to. And
they were like, dude, we're trying to hide you defensively,
and you're gonna go guard the best dude in the league,

(49:34):
Like what do you? What do you do? Like? He
has this certain he thinks he's Kobe and he's not.
He thinks right like he has he has this set,
and I just wonder, like Brooklyn is not great, but
they do have great chemistry and they kind of all
figured it out this year. And I don't know if
even though he makes them more talented, he definitely makes

(49:55):
them better. Yeah, that's a tough question right there, because Brooklyn,
if I'm Brooklyn, I like, I like what they have
going on right there. So it's really gonna if you
get a guy like Car, it's gonna change the situation
dynamic over there. So you're right, you know, it just depends.
It's all about the situation he wants to go to
and if what you put around them, because you have
to put guys around Car. You know what's fascinating you?

(50:16):
You want a championship with the Dallas Mavericks and Karen Butler.
He's on Fox Sports Radio. He joins us like he
didn't play that year because he had a knee injury. Right, Like,
that wasn't uh, that wasn't the most talented version of
the Mavericks. But it had When did you when did
you know that it had different chemistry? Um? When I
first got there. Man, those guys there were older guys,

(50:37):
but everybody was trying to win. And when you're trying
to win, guys do the things the right things. So
everybody was doing the right like, like what's the what
what's the right things? You know, you you could be
a score, but if you go to the team, we
need you to play defense more than score, So you
have to pull it back. You know, I'm gonna score
when I get my opportunities, but I'm not just here
to score. I'm here to do other things. That was

(50:58):
an amazing year if you think about it. So you
had had uh, you had Jake Kidd, you had Dirk
Like I'm not even looking at I remember you had
jj Off the bench was like the backup point guard too.
Terr um Sean Marin. He doesn't get enough credit for
all the things he was doing. And you have a
got a paste Doccovitch. He was coming out to bench

(51:18):
just you know, stretching the defense. I forgot you guys
had patients and people forget was he was one of
the five best scorers in the NBA for a portion
of time with the with the Sacramento Kings. And to
change that role. You don't look anybody late in their
career is gonna have to change roles. But to go
from being a twenty shot at night, thirty five forty

(51:40):
minute night guy, to being a four or five shot
a night guy, that's really hard to do adjusting to
that volume, oh for sure, and he did it perfectly.
But everybody into their road like the Shaan Stevenson that
he just played defense. That's what he did. Just the
junkyard dog. Yeah he was. He was the heart and
soul out there, and guys just came to work every
day and they knew. We knew when the playoffs started,

(52:02):
you know we had a chance. When when you, guys,
did you lose Game one? And that's when Lebron and
d Wade made fun of Dirk being sick. They made
fun of Dirk being sick, and a big fellow didn't
like that. So what was what was when did you
when did when did you know that he didn't like it?
Was like, the next day, you guys showed up and
guys were talking to it. Did he say anything? Guys
were talking about it, and you know, the media made

(52:23):
a big deal about it, and you know, you know,
Darky was kind of like, Okay, I got something for that.
And at night the next night and next game, oh
my god, did you have something? It was unbelievable. It's
interesting because he's about anyone I know is like, dude,
Dirk is in the all time greatest dudes ever, right,
go out, have a beer with anybody, hang out with anybody,

(52:44):
just that great hang But he does have that. He
does have that. And it's weird because they've had so
many first round losses with the Mavericks, right, They've had
so many years in which they've been a top seed
and they've lost. Do you think, well, maybe he isn't
as competitive as some of the other guys, But the
truth is he is. Derek's one of the most competitives.
I'll play with um Man. He wants to win and

(53:07):
he's ready. He's always ready. So I knew when they
were making fun of his coffin, he was ready. When
did you know you had them? Right? It's one one
you go back to Miami, like when did you know
we got him? I think, um, it was like a
little scuffle or something, and then j J Bre just
kept coming up. We kept running the same play and
jj bre kept coming off, just wide open wantall screen

(53:32):
with who screen. It was just two big said the
ball screen Dirk and the other big JJ's come off.
He was just making plays and they couldn't stop it.
And it was funny because I think j J end
up starting after we lost the person. J Kid was like,
I'll play off the ball, and that's when I knew,
like Jay Kidd is one of the best ever, He's

(53:52):
one of the best point guards. Played a game sacrifice
like I'll play off the ball. JJ is gonna start
to point. Yeah. And the other story is, uh, Mike
Bibby started the first five games and then didn't play
in game six because he was getting abused in that series, right,
Like you had all three of these those two kind
of older point guards and Bibbie and Jay Kidd, and
Jay Kidd moved off the ball and Bibby was so

(54:14):
bad they actually didn't even play him. Like that's the
everyone talks about Lebron and Lebron obviously didn't handle the
pressure of the series well, and you guys were kind
of daring him to shoot and he was really questioned himself. Right, Yeah,
we just played I defense. I think Sean Mary, Sean
Stevenson they take it personally like because everybody all he
talked about was Lebron Do you wade like the heatles?
I guess you could call them so Sun Stevens and

(54:35):
San Mary took a personal and they played great defense,
all right, Corey Brewer, continue with us here on the
dug Outlip Show on Fox Sports Trader. You canna talk
about this series. How did the Warriors do it in
Game two? How do the Warriors kind of flip the
script in every seemingly every third quarter? And what's the
series look like? If Clay plays, what's it look like?
If he doesn't play, what's it looked like? If k

on the show and um you can check out. He
has three basketball camps this summer in Gainesville, where he
won part of two national champion hip teams Billy Donovan
the twenty six of June. There's a Parent Child camp
the twenty nine of June. All proceeds go to the
Diabetes Fund at the University of Florida and then his

(57:09):
hometown of Portland, Tennessee. Like there's a Portland in Tennessee,
there is Portland, Maine. There's a Portland, Oregon. And there's
the Portland in Tennessee. That's July thirteen. All information go
to Corey Brewer dot com. Corey Brewer continues to join us. Um. Okay,
so let's let's let's get into this series. Coming into
the series knowing kad was limited, how did you think

(57:32):
it would playoff? I'm knowing Katie was gonna be out
the first couple of games. I feel like, if if
Toronto is a good game, win did have a chance
and they got game one, so now it's anybody serious,
But then you have all the other injuries. Now it's
like Toronto really has a chance. Yeah, It's It's interesting though,
because I feel like, if you're Toronto, you have a

(57:53):
lead at a home heading into the third quarter, and
then if you just said, well, Clay Thompson is gonna
miss the end of the game because of an injury,
KDS not gonna play, Looney's gonna get hurt, and you
still lose at home. Like I get that you're kind
of energized by it, but you also have to on
some level be devastated. That's a game you feel like
you should have won and the score wasn't That game

(58:15):
wasn't as it got a little close late because Golden
State got super tight. But but it score is not
necessarily indicative of that second half. The Warriors controlled from
about midway through the third quarter. Run. Yeah, it was. Yeah,
that's tough when because you know they really need to
get that win, especially when you're at home. You want
to protect your home quit and it gets to go
and stay confidence. They won with all all those guys,

(58:38):
So it can be tough going back to the oracle
because that's so Clay has got a hamstring, and dude,
hamstrings are hard, right, because even when you just kind
of tweak it or pull it and you feel fine
the next day, it can go in the middle of
a game. You can go in warm ups and all
of a sudden feels like somebody shot you in the
leg and you have and it's not like you can hide.

(58:58):
The big The big change in the NBA I feel
like during my I've been doing this for fifteen years
since I stopped playing, is you just can't hide more
than maybe one guy defensively anymore, right, and even those
guys are hard to hide. Yeah, that's the thing, guys
in score man NBA, So you really can't hid anybody,
and especially when you know the guy's hamstrings. Here, you

(59:18):
guys are gonna go at them. So, man, the only
thing I can say Golden State, but I hope it's
not as bad as they think it is. So what
what did e zactly did they do? What did they
change defensively? Because that was the change the start of
the second half. Yeah, they were scoring buckets, but they
were getting stops that the Raptors didn't score for the
first six minutes. What did you see defensively? The change

(59:38):
of the Golden State Warriors? They were just more energized. Man,
Like those guys they're so good. I think sometimes they
get bored. You know, when you were winning so much,
you get bored. But they were energized. They came out.
Draymond always says the tone Steph was actually everywhere. Steph
got his hands on a lot of balls. Um, Steph
has good hands, Like you know they talk about his defense,
but you has really good hands. And then the guy

(59:59):
like when you have a good I live. Man. He
doesn't get enough credit. Man, he does all the little things,
all the right things. And that's what he said. He
made the shot. They're like, how does they get out
to make the shot. He just does all that. That's
what he does. That's what he does. He only makes
the shot when he has to. He doesn't make the
shot at other times. So when you're guarding Kauai, I mean,
it seems kind of simple, like sit on his right hand.
He clearly likes to go right, but it's a lot more.

(01:00:21):
But he also can spend back to his left. There's
a lot of other things you can do. How do
you guard him? Man? You just have to make it
tough on him. You want him to be shooting over
top of you, because if he gets right, it's tough.
It's it's tough. If he goes left, you know he's
gonna make some shots, but you want him go and left,
and you just want to try to stay in front.
Corey Brewer joining us in the Doug Gotlip Show here
on Fox Sports Radio. And then you have Kevin Durant,

(01:00:42):
who's not gonna play in game three. I don't know
if he plays in Game four, but I guess the
question is, like, this is a really weird series because
we have no idea who's going to play. Even Kauai
is not totally healthy. He doesn't even look right. Like,
how do we how do we figure? How do you?
How do you rightfully for cast what can happen when
you don't know who's gonna be healthy? You really can't.

(01:01:03):
That's that's the lovely thing about basketball, man, especially playoff basketball. Um.
I think it's um, it's good for Golden State to
get that win because now Katie is not suching a
harry to get back like, oh we won, we stole one.
So now Katie's like, may should have came back game three. Now, oh,
he doesn't have to come back to game four. So
there are people who cover the NBA, a lot of

(01:01:24):
people who just talk about sports who point out the
warriors gaudy record. They only lost two games since Katie
came over, in which he didn't start and Steph Curry did.
He didn't play and Steph Curry did. So there are
people like, oh, well, they're better without Kevin Durant. Do
you believe that's that's accurate? No, I don't believe it's accurate.
I think they're different. Don't even wrong. They're different. They're

(01:01:45):
still really good, but they're not better. They're still really
really good. But come on, Kevin Durant, man, anytime you
can have a guy like keiming around on your team,
You're not gonna be better with him. Is he the
best score in the league in my opinion? Yeah, okay,
James hard knew you've played with Yeah, James is James
is amazing, but just James knows how to create contact

(01:02:08):
he gets to the line. James is an amazing score.
But Katie can go out there and get forty anytime.
Like they both can go get forty in time, but
Katie seven foot that I would say, here's how I
would I would characterize the difference. In order for James
Harden to get forty one, he needs to get calls
and then two. It's kind of always the same thing, right,

(01:02:31):
It's always him playing downhill, you know, handling the ball.
Whereas the difference, and maybe this is where there's more
respect by some in the league, is Katie can beat
you in the post. He can handle the ball like
a point guard. He can play off the basketball as well.
He can play three different ways and beat you any
of the all three ways. That fair, Actually, that's fair assessment.

(01:02:52):
Like Katy score in anyway anyway he wants to. He
can score like James James. What James does. He's amazing,
He's MVP. Come on, you can't take that away from James.
But this way different. James is a guard us his
body and Kevin Durants seven foot point guard, shooting guard,
center or whatever else you wanna call them. What about
the idea that that Kauai might stay in in Toronto?

(01:03:16):
Does anybody know? Does anybody in the league know this? Dude?
I don't think anybody knows. I think that's gonna be
the craziest thing. Nobody knows what is going to do.
All we can do is speculate. It's funny when you
have all these sources, sources, when nobody really knows. Lay
Brewer joins, let's get you to I want to ask
you about Houston in a second and what's going on there.
But first let's get you to Isaac Lowen Cron find

(01:03:38):
out what else is going on the world sport, right, Doug.
The Golden State Warriors are through for the day at
practice at Oracle Arena on the eve of Game three
of the NBA Finals, and Steve Kerr had the low
down on Kevin Durant and Clay Thompson's status for tomorrow night.
Kevin won't play tomorrow, but he's cramping up his uh
exercise routine is we're accounts. Clay is day to day,

(01:04:01):
so he's questionable and Loon is out, you know, for
the for the series. Thompson himself refers to himself as
a game time decision. But you know, you say tomato,
I say Tomato. Could be a longer series, So there's
no point in trying to go out there and reaggravate
it and potentially keep myself out of the whole entire
finals instead of just one game like svia game time decision.

(01:04:23):
But um, I really want to be out there. Kerr
also said that andre Iguodala will play in Game three
tomorrow after participating in practice today. Sean's Toruanto reports that
David Griffin and the New Orleans Pelicans have begun listening
to teams about potential trades for Anthony Davis. Elsewhere, not
much new news about the Lakers in the last I

(01:04:43):
don't know day, two days, three days. The Lakers just
tweeted out a picture of Lebron James and new head
coach Frank Vogel standing next to each other and sharing
a smile while watching a workout. At the Lakers training
facility for the record, James was clad pink shorts and
get this a good Fellas hoodie featuring images of Joe Pesci,

(01:05:06):
Robert De Narrow, and Ray Leotta. As I start to
you can you can just smell the garlic sliced paper
thin when the meal was cooking in that movie. In
the NFL first day of O t as, Cleveland running
back Duke Johnson reiterated that he still wants to be traded.
Baker Mayfield reiterated he doesn't really care for that. You know,

(01:05:28):
it's self inflicted. It is what it is. It's not
awkward for anybody else in this building. He's got to
do his job, he said. He's a professional. I hope
he does his job. Back to Doug Gottlieb in ten seconds.
But first a word from farmers that Farmers insurance. We
know a roof can withstand a lot, one exception being
an airborne car. I've seen it covered it. Dr Farmers,

(01:05:48):
we are farmers underwritten my Farmer's truck Fire Insurance exchanges
and affiliates products not an available in every state. Doug
gottlieve Show, Fox Sports Radio here UH with Corey Brewer
NBA Champion, and you played for a bunch of teams,
played for the Houston Rockets. What's gone so wrong for
the Rockets the last two years? Man, Um, I don't think.

(01:06:11):
I wouldn't say things are going wrong. I think they
have bad luck because, um, you know, and Chris Paul
gets hurt. Last year, that was that was their chance
to win, get past the Warriors. But he gets hurt
and the Warris end they're winning. So then the next
next year, I guess they tried to do different things,
so they get rid of guys like Trevor Reesa lukma Bote,
which people are like, they didn't make that bigger difference.

(01:06:33):
But you know, when this season started, you can see
how much effect guy like Trevor Reesa has and he
didn't get enough respect. You know, he went, he got paid.
Don't get me wrong, but I think they kind of
hurt he used him a little bit. No, I thought
that hurt them immensely, right. I mean, like I get
he didn't make shots in Game seven and he struggled
to make shots, but he brings so much at the

(01:06:53):
defensive end, so much firstility and his experience, and then
of course he took the money and played a non
competitive team. Right, So it's um okay. So the story
last week was that, in addition to the staff, you know,
getting turned over, everybody's everybody's available. Now you've got Chris
Paul who's a little bit longer in the tooth. You

(01:07:14):
got Clint Capella, who they can't play late in games.
They're not gonna trade James Harden like, and then you
have Mike D'Antoni, who's gonna coach through his last year
of his deal. Do you I mean, if you were
in charge, what would you do? Man? It's it's tough.
You know, they're kind of handicapped with you know, with
all the solid cap implications and your coach don't win.

(01:07:37):
I don't like what the coach been on the one
year deal, Like it's like he has to win, like,
and he's been good. Don't get me wrong. A lot
of people give a flag D'Antoni, did D'Antoni that, but
he's been good. Like now he's gonna one year deal, Like,
how much effect does he had? He doesn't have his staff,
they're bringing all these new people. I think that it's
gonna be a difficult year for him. Yeah, can can

(01:07:58):
Chris Paul? Can you still win big with Chris Paul?
She might hear me, go ahead, I ask you first.
I think you can. I think it just has to
be the right situation. But you have to put other
guys around them, like right now, I need a couple
other pieces. See. I think what's interesting about Chris Paul
is early in that series they were using him, he
was just playing off of James Harden right, and an

(01:08:19):
occasional he would get it and try and beat his man.
Like it's not just that he's in his thirties. That's
never been him. He's a ball screen point guard, right,
give him a pick and roll and get everybody else
space and moving it out of the way and let
him read the defense. And it felt like in game five,
in Game six they finally figure that out, like, oh,
let's get back to doing some of that stuff and
put him in the Steve Nash role. And I actually

(01:08:42):
still like Chris Paul again, like you said, in the
right circumstances, correct, I love Chris. Um Chris needs the
ball though. That's why it's like it's tough. People are
saying Chris is all stuff Chris and not this, but
Chris Paul has always been a dominant ball point guard.
Like you said, he's always had taking roles. He's always play,
he's always made to play. And now he has the

(01:09:02):
sacrifice because you have James Harden who's the m v P.
So you have to get off the ball. No, it's
a really hard thing to do. Like, look, in this business,
you get to a place where you're used to like
either being a host or being a second chair or whatever,
right when you got to switch that, that's a different
not everyone can do it, and especially basketball wise. I
mean like literally he's had the ball in his hands

(01:09:23):
since a sophomore in high school didn't make varsity, right,
so we're talking sophomore years, junior year, senior year, two
years at wake and then the ten years or whatever
in the NBA, like fourteen straight years of you have
the ball. And I was like, like, hey, remember all
that stuff you've been doing your entire professional life. We
want you to do something different. Yeah, I think that's
that's that's hard for him, But I think he's he's
doing a good job with that. Like people don't give

(01:09:46):
him enough credit, Like he literally goes from this is
always had the ball I'm gonna make the play. I
get this sist to Okay, I'm gonna go over here
and watch this guy play and then okay, now I
gotta go. That's that's tough. The only Here's one thing
though that I don't know. I don't know. People said, well,
maybe the Lakers trade for him. He was originally going

(01:10:06):
to be a Laker before David turn nixed that trade. Right,
and he's boys with Lebron. He doesn't fit with Lebron
like Lebron is he's basically a point guard, right or
throw it to him in the post and then play
play off him, or the elbow and play off him.
And I'm not sure how well Anthony Davis fits with
Lebron Man. Guys are gonna it's gonna have to be

(01:10:27):
give and take. I always said a basketball is give
and take, So somebody's going to sacrifice. So who's gonna
be like but Lebron's Lebron Man. You can win with
Lebron no matter who you put around him, but guys
have to adjust him. Has he lost his step defensively Lebron?
I don't think so. I think Lebron is still the

(01:10:48):
best plan in the planet. Man until something else changes.
He's always gonna be the best play on the planet.
It's just like he was. They were to fore see
had his team the Lakers, with the team they had,
they were to fore see. And when he has an
singing and people forget that, people are like, oh the
Lakers is all this terminal termoon now. But before then
Lebron was healthy. Well it's not just that he had hurt. Uh.

(01:11:11):
Alonzo got hurt for a for a couple of for
a couple of games. Rondo was already hurt, right, It
just kind of ran through the team and the team's
construction was flawed, right, Like they didn't have a stretch five.
You know, Um, those guys that came out the bench,
there was a reason they bounced around the league. They
didn't have guys like you, guys that that that kind
of understood buying into that role. Yeah, and then brandon

(01:11:32):
Ingram gets hurt after he had like a nice run
when le Bron was hurt, and then you have to
It's it's two different ways playing with Lebron. You have
to learn that took him a while to learn how
to play, and then Lebron's out. Now you learned a
completely different style of basketball, which, by the way, it
brings us back to how amazing it is in Golden
State that they play one way with k D and
then mid game they switched to play another game way

(01:11:53):
without k D and they can do so seamlessly. Like
you said, like Steve Krat doesn't get enough credit, You're
right about that, because those guys buying too what he
what he says, they're buying too everything they have going
on over there. When Katie's out there, they play exactly
the way they want to play. Katie goes out gets hurt,
they play a totally different way, but it's exactly the

(01:12:13):
way they want to play. How much more are you
get in you? I think playing a few more. I
still feel good as long as I can steal guard
guys and I'm not just not getting beat. Feel Yeah,
they can't. You can't hide like that again. Plus that's
your role to right, Like your role is to come
in guard dudes and then make it just make shots
and I can still play fast. But yeah, when you
can't be here nowhere like it used to be, you could,

(01:12:35):
you could have two or three guys you can hid him.
Now you gotta be at the guard the toughest guy
to guard. Oh, Katie for sure. We've been having a conversation. Like,
James is very tough, but it's totally different. You know,
you're getting ball screens and stuff. Katie doesn't need ball
screens here, get a ball screen. He's just about what
about Bron. Bron is tough for sure, but physical. That's

(01:12:56):
so physical. And Brian, but he plays the game different.
Like Brian, he wants to get other guys involved. It's
just he has a different flow of his game. Yeah,
and then he has that kind of awkward step at
that weird step back like no one there's no real
rhythm to it, but he I don't know how he
does it, but it's kind of works. Brian Jane, who
talks the most trash talks the most trash man Dreamond

(01:13:18):
talks a lot. That's what he does. Yeah. Um, how
about he lost twenty Like he's like, people are champion.
He lost twenty five pounds in the season, Like, dude,
you were twenty five pounds overweight Like nobody Like everybody's like, dude,
but you're playing twenty five pounds overweight. We're supposed to
champion you. I don't know it's tough. It's tough. Dreamond man.

(01:13:39):
He's a different type of guy, but he does all
the little things and he loses the twenty pounds. He's
playing his best basketball. Um do you like the Drake thing?
Like the massaging the shoulders of the coach, the up
and down the sideline, like not not do you like
his music, but the idea that he becomes kind of
part of the game. Um, it really doesn't bother me.

(01:14:02):
I think the fans of media and make it more
than what it is, Like they make it a part
of the game. But when you're out there on the court,
you really he can do all of that. You're trying
to win, You're not really I'm not gonna be guarden stuff,
curried and looking and see what Drake is doing. Like
I'm literally you're in the game, You're in the moment.
What is Steph cry? Like the guard? Oh man, it's
like it's it's hard man, Steph Cry. You can't let

(01:14:26):
him breathe like when you're guarding and stuff. It's like
everywhere he goes, I feel like I have to follow him,
like he's my kids. Okay, so he used to like
here's how I've described to people. Some guys go right,
like we've mentioned Kauai right, Like why likes to go right?
You can go left? Okay, some guys are catching shoot
guys like he can shoot going right, he can shoot
going left. He can shoot catching shoot unbelievable, ridiculous range.

(01:14:48):
He gets rid of a quick and then he'll do
things I was we were always taught, like, don't shoot
off a crossover right, don't shoot off across over, get
another rhythm, dribble before you go up. He shoots off across.
He violates like every well, what's supposed to be a
high percentage shot. It's none of his shots a high
percentage for anybody else but Steph Kerry. That's why he's
so great. Like Steph can go through the legs, throw
it behind the back and then shoot it and you're like,

(01:15:10):
hold on, He like, you don't know what's going on.
You don't know when he's gonna shoot. The screen can
be coming, he can be dribbling. He'd just throw it
behind the back and shoot it. You're like, it's nothing
but net And he's almost a half quart So it's
your son's ten years old. Who does he try to emulate?
Oh Man? He loves kd So, which is good. So
hopefully he's tall and long, but he loves Kate. I'm like,

(01:15:32):
I don't think you can emulate him, but you can
try if you're listening in Gainesville or anywhere in Florida.
He's got Corey Brewers. Got a camp on the twenty
ninth of June. There's a parent child camp. The proceeds
go to diet is found in the University of Florida.
Or He's a two time national chairman. That was a
great team. What's up? What's Humphers done? Now? Lee's him

(01:15:52):
in Jacksonville. You have the job in Jacksonville. He went
overseats for a while. He's, you know, enjoying life. He
would be. He's got to be the mayor for like
any he was. He was the guy who he was
like the only guy who didn't play in the NBA,
and he made so many big shots of you guys.
He made all the big shots. But Lee made us go.
People don't understand when you have a guy a shooter
like that, the floors opens up like they couldn't leave him.

(01:16:16):
Also a hometown camp in Portland, Tennessee, July thirteenth. He's
the unofficial mayor of Portland. Go to Corey Brewer dot
com to be thanks so much for joining us. I
appreciate thanks. Good catching up with Corey Brewers Doug gotlib

I hope you're having a great day, great day every day.
At this time, we play for you a portion of

(01:17:24):
a previous show on Fox Sports Radio or Fox Sports One,
we call it and now. This was Chris Broussard on
Undisputed discussing the finals and what they've been like without
Lebron James. Nobody is controlling games and taking over in
these playoffs like we've seen Lebron dude in the last
several years. We're used to him being so dominant. Now

(01:17:47):
there's a plus and a minus to that, because I
do think Kauai and Stephan these guys are fitting better
into a system, a team system, and other guys are
getting there. But Lebron has been so dominant that it
does look like Kauai. Why need he take over like
Lebron takes over? Why did stuff take over like Lebron
takes over? Those long stretches where he just disappears. Yeah,

(01:18:15):
I don't, I don't see it. I don't. I don't
don't see it. I don't I don't see it. Yes,
Lebron James was remarkably dominant, dominant in Game one last year.
We also remember when Lebron James didn't play as well.
Then all of a sudden, he do you guys remember
the thumb brace that came out after they got swept

(01:18:36):
last year. Now, look, it's a totally believable story that
he got mad after they lost and j R. Smith
screwed up at the end of game one and he punched, uh,
punched something in the locker room and broke his hand.
But to go from playing and he's fine too, Oh,
I need a I need a brace on my hand

(01:18:57):
after I lose. Ye. I gotta be honest with you.
I didn't once think about Lebron James and watching the game.
It doesn't mean that Lebron didn't have an amazing run,
or that with the right team in the East, had
he stayed healthy, he wouldn't have been able to make
a run to the NBA finals. I'm not trying to
diminish Lebron James, but I think we're also diminishing Kawhi Leonard,

(01:19:18):
who's not at full strength and he's not playing with uh.
You know, his roster is just a different sort of roster.
I would have loved to see this Toronto team against
last year's Lebron's team, because Toronto upgraded, they got better.
That's the only thing about the East that we kind
of other people diminished. I told you this before. The

(01:19:40):
Celtics personnel wise, maybe not chemistry wise, but personnel wise
were better than last year. The Sixers were better than
last year. The Raptors are way better, clearly way better
than they were last year. And the Bucks have massively
improved an upgraded. You know, they add a Brook Lopez,
they added some other pieces to the puzzle, a mirror

(01:20:00):
titch to the puzzle, and then Janice keeps getting better,
like he's better this year than he was last year,
would better next year than he was this year. So
I I just I don't know. Maybe I'm not trying
to be bitter anti Lebron guy, but I never once
watched this series. It's like, you know what this is
missing missing Lebron James. It is weird to watch the

(01:20:21):
NBA Finals without Lebron James, no question, but because you
have the Warriors, uh, and the Warriors are still there.
It's weird to watch the Warriors without Clay Thompson and
Kevin Durant and still win a game. But I think
that speaks to just how amazing this team is as
a team. This was Nick Right discussing Andrea Godaala's comments

(01:20:45):
at about playing for Steph Curry's legacy. What I found
list instring about the comment was the second part where
he said, I've never seen a guy as disrespected by
his peers, and that I think is a correct on.
How many guards throughout the regular season do we talk
about when they're matching up with Steph that do not

(01:21:07):
have his credentials, that are clearly not as good as him,
that we say, Oh, they believe Russ believes he's better,
Chris Paul's believed he's better. Dame believes he's as good.
There is an element of Steph because of his style,
because of his size, and I would argue because his
dad was in the NBA and he didn't grow up
tough the way so many NBA guys did. There is

(01:21:28):
an element of jealousy, resentment and man, he's not better
than me, even though he is, even though he's a
more effective player. Steff deals with that that Durant doesn't
deal with. Lebron doesn't deal with hell Harden doesn't even
deal with. I think that's what he's talking. Yeah, I
actually think they'll deal with it. To be totally honest
with you, right, I mean, let's just kind of be
fair about this thing. Lebron James lost one NBA Final

(01:21:52):
series to the Mavericks, and he was seen as a joker,
James Harden seen as a guy that doesn't play in defense.
Kevin Ran no matter how it he is, they're like, well,
they're actually better without him. And Steph Curry is somebody
who they don't think is particularly effective defensively. And you know,
maybe he grew up with a silver spooner's mouth even
though he didn't go to a big name college and

(01:22:13):
he didn't go number one overall in the draft. Matters
of fact that Timberwolves took two point guards ahead of
him in the draft, like and and his own team.
The Warriors put him in potentially in the trade where
they sent more uh Monte Ellis for for Andrew Bogan.
They said, you can take Monte else, you can Monte Ellis,
you can take uh Steph Curry, and they took Monte Ellis.

(01:22:34):
So he's dealt with disrespect to that right that people
think that Russell Westbrook drove away Kevin Durant. Let's see here,
let's you know, Janice can't shoot. Who else you know,
Kyrie is a guy who can't get along with people,
doesn't play defense. Nobody talks about Kawhi Leonard, right although

(01:22:55):
you know, uh Skip thinks that Kauai and quite did
get himself out of San Antonio because they didn't believe
his leg injury. All right, So like every this is this,
this is the nature of sorry sports these days we
have something negative to say. There are guys that are
being picked on. And also with Iguodala, it is hard

(01:23:17):
to tell what's what he means and how sarcastic he's being.
We talked about that with uh with Ethan Strauss yesterday,
who he said, like, you kind of can't tell. He's
a great quote, but sometimes he means something different than
how it comes out. I'll point this out about Steph Curry, like,
I'm not sure there's a better dude. My friends of
USA basketball said like, look, we've had Jordan Barkley, you ing,

(01:23:41):
you know, you name any Lebron k D whoever k
D has been the best player on the Olympic teams.
He's been more so than Lebron. But Steph Curry has
been the best human being. And maybe that's what he meant,
but this whole idea, Oh Steph Curry is the only
one who deals with it. Not really, not really? Is

(01:24:01):
the NFL gonna add regular season games? Find out next.

Scott Kushner's gonna join us. He's a Pelicans beat writer

(01:24:44):
for The Advocate. I think he's gonna join us, Like,
what about five minutes? Is all right? About five minutes
or is he joined us midpoint of the hour? All right?
He's gonna join us at two thirty on the east
and the West coast at five thirty on the East coast.
We did see Clay Thompson run up and down shoot
a little bit. Uh, looks like he's gonna try and
give it a go in Game three. We did not
see Kevin Durant, so k D is not gonna go

(01:25:06):
in Game three, DeMarcus Cousins will Kevon Luney's out. The
battered and bruised two time defending champions are just gonna
try and limp their way through Game three, Toronto. If
you can't beat the Warriors without k D, with A
with A, with ah an injured, Clay Thompson, without Kevin Luney,

(01:25:29):
Man he thought game losing Game two is devastating. This
one falling two games one would be even worse. Later today,
I think that I do think the Raptors win Game three.
I still think it sets up for a dramatic return
from Kevin Durant where you can say I'm Kevin Durant,
all right. I wanted to get to this story though,

(01:25:50):
before we get to the Anthony Davis deal and some
of the other stuff going on. As we're gonna take
it to New Orleans. The NFL is now discussing moving
from four preseason games to two preseason games, and when
I when you hear what Roger Goodell said, you'll probably

(01:26:11):
nod your head and you go, all right, that makes sense.
End of story. But it's only the beginning. Here's Goodell.
I've been pretty strong on our preseason you know, I
think things evolved over the years. I'm not sure, you know,
talking to the coaches that four preseason games is necessary
anymore to to get ready for a season. Um two

(01:26:33):
evaluate players to developed players. Um. There are other ways
of doing that, and we've had a lot of discussions
about that, and you know, I feel like what we
should be doing is always for the highest quality, and
I'm not sure preseason games can beta level right now.
And that all makes a ton of sense, an incredible
amount of sense, doesn't it, Right, Like, look, the fourth

(01:26:57):
preseason game, none of our players are actually you're playing
in the third preseason game, it's pretty good football for half.
The second is as well, but the first preseason game
the starters only play really a series. So what if
we cut off all of the grizzle, right, what if
we just got the filet But that's not actually how

(01:27:22):
it works in the world of business, right, Like, let's
just do kind of cost average. Remember if you're a
season ticket holder, you have to buy preseason game tickets,
you have to buy preseason game parking. And if you

(01:27:42):
run an NFL team, you're making gobs and gobs and
gobs of money. Hand over fist. You're making that much money.
Think about that for a second. So let's say you
sell fifty tho season tickets. Right, We'll forget about the advertising.

(01:28:11):
Remember it's on local TV, which they sell the rights for.
There's other money being made. Let's just the tickets in
the stadium. Now, most of these teams don't own the
stadium that they play in, but they also pay a
very limited amount of rent. And we'll get to the
other ramifications of it. But if you have fifty thousand
seats in the stadium and the average ticket, let's say

(01:28:33):
a hundred dollars, it's not a hundred dollars, is probably
more than that, but let's say a hundred dollars preseason
game is average price of ticket. Right, So, before you
sell any parking, before you sell a hot dog, for
you sell anything Ryan Music, fifty seats. Remember that's not

(01:28:58):
filling up a stadium. That's let's just say you have
fifty thousand season tickets on average hundred dollars of pop.
How much money is that gross? Five million dollars? Five
million dollars, sizeable amount of money, I'd say, Doug, right,
And remember we're not taking away ten million because each

(01:29:20):
of these teams have two preseason home games, so if
you took away two games, you would only take away
one home game. But you're taking away five million dollars.
My guess is, My guess is these teams probably net
out in somewhere in the ten million dollar range for
a home game, maybe a little bit less. Remember parking, concessions, radio, TV,

(01:29:46):
all the other stuff around it. It's taking ten million dollars. Now,
do you think that NFL owners became NFL owners because
they were bad businessmen and because the quality of football
isn't great, they're just gonna give back ten million dollars

(01:30:06):
like no. In addition to which, all of those people
that work at the stadium, the companies that make money
off of the people that work at the stadium, all
of the restaurants, all these teas. These stadiums now are
being built in areas where they're building up the restaurants
and the bars and all that stuff. They're losing revenue.

(01:30:29):
I get that it feels like a waste of time,
but it does kind of ramp stuff up. There is
a bunch of money being made, period. So Roger Goodell
is saying, like I don't love having football games that
aren't top quality. They'll want to go to eighteen games,
and the Union know pushback, go whoa whoa, whoa, whoa whoa.

(01:30:50):
Eighteen games means too many injuries. Eighteen games should mean
more money. Eighteen games should mean guaranteed kind tracks. Do
you know what I don't want to know. It's coming
from the NFL. We hear you a lot of injuries,
need more bodies. Here's what we'll do. We're gonna change
the roster from fifty three and forty six on game day,

(01:31:14):
will add five, five guaranteed roster spots full year. Now
help me out. I see if my math is good.
If you had five roster spots to thirty two teams,
that's a hundred and sixty more jobs. So the union

(01:31:35):
can say we don't want to play games, but the
NFL can say, wait a second, we're offering you the
chance to have a hundred and sixty more Union members
make more than a living wage. They're in lines of negotiation.
I we all look at decisions like eliminating two preseason

(01:31:58):
games in a very linear fashion. Hey, these two games
don't make sense, let's just cut it off. But there's
all different sorts of financial ramifications and NFL owners be like,
now do I not want to make lose that money.
I want to make more money, Roger, how do we
make more money? Easy? More games, maybe another playoff game.

(01:32:22):
Because more games ends up being able to be sold
to Fox, CBS, NBC, ESPN because they have a rights
deal which is locked in with a certain number of dates,
and now of a sudden you get more dates and
more games and more money. And what was ten million
dollars for one home game, you end up making twenty
million dollars for the home game, plus all the TV

(01:32:45):
rights and national rights as well. My guess is that
Roger Goodell, though appealing to the masses and saying things
which are accurate, which are hey, these games don't rise
to the level of competitiveness of the best of the

(01:33:06):
best of the best, is also just beginning to negotiations
to make more money by having more regular season and
potentially more postseason games. That's what this is about. It
isn't about a product that you like watching. The the
the offshoot of it, the byproduct of it may be
a better product, but that's not the intent of what

(01:33:27):
they're talking about. Right. It's like the first time ever
they're like, you know that Roger Goodell, he makes a
lot of sense. Good for him. I don't have to
spend my money on preseason games. I've heard people say like, well,
eighteen games, hold on eighteen games. That's gonna change fantasy football. Yeah,

(01:33:50):
we'll adjust. My big thing is can the quarterbacks stay healthy?
Can the key players stay healthy for that many games?
Do you work back in the double by the way
they used to have, do you have two preseason games
to buy, then you have a double? You have two
different buys within the season. Probably the next wave of
the Nashal Football League. Charger's head coach Anthony Lynn joins

(01:34:13):
the show next. I'll ask him if he thinks swapping
out preseason games for regular season games is the future
of the Nation Football League. Plus, I want to ask
him about his quarterback. Some of these old quarterbacks seem
to struggle with their arm strength down the stretch. But
there's also the guys that show up every day at
every O, T A and want to make every throw

(01:34:35):
and do every rep. Can he dial back, Philip Rivers,
We'll ask him next. Be sure to catch live editions

upcoming at the uh bottom of the hour. I struggle
with that top end bottom of the hour, like in

(01:35:38):
the bottom later like now bottom is actually just past
the midway point of the hour, we'll get you an
update from Isaac Lowan kron Um as to who's playing
who's not playing in tomorrow nights NBA Finals. Again, it
is tomorrow night in the NBA Finals, right. I just
want to make sure we're talking about a lot. I'm
watching them shoot on on NBA TV, and I'm like,
wait a second, it's not tonight. The game is not

(01:35:59):
to night. Is the hockey tonight? Do anything tonight? I
got free peanut butter. The National Peanut Butter Board sent
me three different kinds of peanut butter to reward me,
apparently because they were listening when I said, Kevin rants like,
peanut butter makes everything better, right, makes it different and

(01:36:22):
better doesn't mean you can't like celery, but celery and
peanut butter. Apples are delicious, really that the Warriors are
like apples. They are delicious, and there's a bunch of
different varieties. But you add peanut butter to apples and
it's pretty unbeatable. Chocolate, same thing, chocolate, same thing. Music.
You had dark milk, don't give me white chocolate. White

(01:36:44):
chocolate is not really chocolate, man, No, I'm kidding UM, yeah,
I'm gonna go with dark. Yeah, I like it. I
like the true taste of chocolate. That doesn't mean there
aren't just great milk chocolates out there, but definitely more
in favor of the dark chocolate. Did you guys see
this story from the Pats? I heard Isaac talking about it.

(01:37:04):
Austin Seferian Jenkins was released after just the first day
of camp of like, wait a second. Austin Safarian Jenkins
signed an eight thousand dollar deal. He was buying for
a roster spot. They need a tight end. It was
fifty dollars in guaranteed money. He wasn't at the team's

(01:37:24):
mandatory mini camp on Tuesday for shouting his release by
saying that all players who are required to be president
had reported s varying. Jenkins, of course, has traveled around
but caught a hundred hundred sixteen balls eleven touchdowns in
forty three games over five seasons. They also signed Benjamin
Watson UH and several other tight ends one practice man.

(01:37:53):
But he also if you remember, he had the UH
he had a drunk driving arrest with the Bucks and
he had a two game suspension. Then he resurrected his
career with the Jets. Then he was with the Jags
and he's taking them taking a month away. But like
one day guessing he didn't look great in that one
day speaking of the National Football League and a guy

(01:38:16):
who had an unbelievable season actually tied for the best
regular season record in the National Football League. They just
because of tiebreakers and in the division, Kansas City won
the division. They end up losing to the Super Bowl
champion New England Patriots. The l A Chargers had a
remarkable season. Their head coach, Anthony Lynn, joins us on

(01:38:36):
the Doug Gottlieb Show on Fox Sports Radio. Coach, how
are you do? I'm doing fun man, Thanks for having me.
Um okay, So, look, you guys had O T A
S and now you have the mandatory VET minimum uh
uh VET VET camps. What's the difference in the energy
level around the building right now? You know everyone's in
a tc mold. Uh. You know, everything's voluntary. The guys

(01:39:00):
are here, They here every soon, they want to be here,
and so uh, things a little more relaxed and teach.
We have new players, new you veterans and rookies, new guys.
So uh, I try to keep it a little bit
more mellow right now. I don't want to pick too soon.
You know, we don't play for a long time, but
you know at mandatory mini camp coming up here next week,

(01:39:24):
things get a little more intense, and then we'll go
to training camp and thangs to get really intense. So uh,
but but the guys are working hard. Everybody's looking pretty
good right now. So last year around this time he
lost Hunter, right Hunter Henry who who then came back
and play played less game. Does that change? I mean? Like, look,
I mean these non contact things where a guy just
plants and there's nothing you can do. But does it

(01:39:46):
change you and how you prep and how your team
practices in the in these workouts, you know, we look
at stuff like that, a little non contact injuries are happening.
And then asked fall League, Uh today for some reason
more so back when I played, for sure, And I
think it's because guys are maybe over training. You know,

(01:40:08):
you're going to make so many cuts, You're gonna run
so many routes, You're gonna come off the ball on
defensive the ball and restaurpasses so many times. You know,
I believe before something goes out, so Uh, I try
to give the guys a little bit more of a break,
and UH practices are not nearly as as long. And
I really encourage guys when you're not here to just

(01:40:30):
rest the bodies and not do as much. Speaking of
not do as much, you know, Look, I don't know
how much you thought had happened, but as a fan
and curious observer, I did feel like Philip lost a
little bit of zip in his ball. I thought happened
Drew Brees, happened to Tom Brady, these older quarterbacks, and
the problem with these guys and you can speak this,

(01:40:51):
you're talking about everybody's here, like Philip wants to take
every rep like he they these guys, and and it's
May and we need you in jail Nanuary to be
sharp and you're not in your you know, late twenties,
early thirties anymore. Is there a way to get a
guy like Philip Rivers to throw less to save his
arm for what it matters? You know, I mean you

(01:41:13):
just said it, Doug. I do have a hard time
keeping my veteran players off the field because they have
a passion for what they're doing. They want to be
the best, and UH, and and they believe in only
to do that, you have to be on the field
all the time. But at the same time, we need
every one playing at their best in December and January,
and so, uh, it's a struggle there because I've talked

(01:41:37):
to some other teams about it, other coaches. Uh, sometimes
you start out a little slower, but you finish a
lot stronger, and so we have to find that balance.
And I think it's different with it with every player individually.
But I'm definitely gonna arrest my veteran players more. Uh,
not just Philip, but Pouncy, Russell Home and all those guys.

(01:42:01):
They're gonna get more reps, more rest this year. Well
that's interesting. Anthony Lynne apparently running a country club down
in coast to Mason, I'm kidding. Joining us on the
Doug Gottlive show here on Fox Sports Radio. Roger Gerdell
came out yesterday and he's like, look, four preseason games
that not doesn't rise to the level normally of of
NFL games. And he's talked to coaches who they don't

(01:42:22):
think he doesn't think they have the ability to that
have the need to evaluate over all four preseason games.
It feels like to me, that's a precursor to like, hey, look,
let's just do preseason games, but let's add on two
more games. And I'm sure they want to expand the roster.
How much do you think that would change football though,
if you added more regular season games? Yeah? I believe

(01:42:44):
the regular season was fourteen games at one time, and
I went to sixteen and everybody thought that was a
huge deal. It does not surprise me if we go
from sixteen eighteen. I just think it's natural and we
will adjust, just like the coaches did back in the day.
And so, Uh, it's nice to have those four games
that you can look at your your reserves and evaluate deal.

(01:43:08):
But you know there are things you can do in
practice to create more competition to evaluate your players. Uh,
I'm finding either way, man, Okay, tell me about your
family foundation. I know you guys do some amazing things
with athletes and action with bikes and bibles with common threads,
even with Crenshaw High School. Uh, this is this is
a big You know, your your wife who's a news anchor,

(01:43:31):
TV anchor in New York City. You guys founded this together.
What's the main focus of your foundation right now? Well,
you know all the things that I really like about
Stacy and attractive in our Stacy's always like to give
back and and uh I've always had a passion and
gift back and uh and they help help about our youth.
You know, we believe our youth is that's our future.

(01:43:53):
You know, they are biggest assets. And so uh, it
just it just breaks my heart when a young person
feels like they can't accomplish anything or they stopped dreaming
that you know, that's just that's not right. And so
we just, uh, we've always given back. We just decided
to do it in a more organized way and we
started this foundation and you know, we hooked up with

(01:44:16):
Common Threads and uh, you know, we're building a school
in Africa that we're gonna open up in u June
twenty nine and we're gonna go over there. And uh,
you know Robbie Ready and his wife Robin Ready in
New York, you know the commercial contractors, they built that
school and we kind of helped. But just here locally,

(01:44:36):
young warriors in South Central Uh, you know the Fatherless
Sons boys. We know, we we work with those guys.
You mentioned Crunch your high school. We've done some things
with them back some bibles. Love that organization athletes and actions,
you know, Uh, the things they provide chapelons throughout the
National Football League for our players and that support, you

(01:44:58):
just can put a price on it. So, uh, we
just we just want to make a difference. And uh
we believe that we're in position and we can't make
a difference and and uh, you know it's a passion
of ours. Um, you gotta be golf tournament right this
a couple of weekends in Grapevine, Texas. Have you have
you been prepping on the on the golf courses of
Orange County so that you look really good, like you

(01:45:20):
want to get out there, like yeah, I'm more Anthony Lynn,
like he's running back, like he's tough dude, Like I,
I don't want you to get get out there and
have a Barkley swing. Have you been prepped? It's your
golf tournament. You gotta look good in it. Well, you
know it's not I'm not gonna say that I'm gonna
scratch golfer, but uh, I enjoy playing golf and I
don't get to play newly as much as I like,

(01:45:41):
But I probably have practice a little bit more this
year than I only who would have because of this
golf tournament. But we're gonna do it on June r
I think grape Vine right side of Dallas, and you
know that's home. It's home for me. And uh, you know,
we we represent Hugs Cafe, you know, right there, and
they're gonna receive a lot of the the main every

(01:46:03):
raise that day. Um. And what Hugs do is they
they help young people with disabilities, you know, teach them
life skills, and they employed them and and they do
they do a lot that way. So we make sure
that they're taken care of. But uh, it was gonna
have a good time. Well, I finally have a good time, man,

(01:46:24):
all right. Last thing, Um, you ended up two seasons
ago after a tough start on an unbelievable run, and
then this year, uh, you end up you know, tied
for the best record in the a f C. And
yet you guys have this unique ability to really kind
of stay out of the headlines, right like people just
don't talk about the Chargers. Is there a benefit to

(01:46:46):
that or would you like more people to talk more
about your team, you personally and how you go to
work every day. I like, I just I wonder whether
or not you feel like you're getting the respect and
attention to deserve or is that kind of part of
what you really like about it? And you can slide
under the radar, you know, Doug, I I can't control that,
and uh, we just control what we can control, and

(01:47:07):
that's these guys. They respect one another and that's what
matters the most to me. And uh, you know inside
this building, Uh, you know, we like the culture that
we have right now, and we work hard every single
day to try to maintain that culture. But this this
is a good football team. And you know, I think

(01:47:27):
if we can, you know, get back to the tournament,
I like our chances. But uh, yeah, we we have
no control of what happens outside of this building. But uh,
there's a group of guys that very unselfish and they
played for one another. I can tell you that. Yeah. Well,
it was an amazing season to watch you guys win
in Pittsburgh, went in Kansas City, went in Baltimore before

(01:47:49):
falling to the to the to the Super Bowl champions.
Appreciate your time. Best of luck obviously with all the
charity stuff in that golf tournament, we'll be waiting for
a score report when you return. Thanks for joining us.
Thanks Anthony Lynn joining us. That's the head coach of
the l A Chargers. Let's get you to Isaac Loewen
kron I joined us. Now getting this update in the
world of sports. What he got, Douglas afternoon, Steve Kerr,

(01:48:10):
the head coach of the Golden State Warriors, updated the
status of Kevin Durant and Clay Thompson for Game three
of the NBA Finals tomorrow night. Kevin won't play tomorrow,
but he's ramping up his exercise routine his workouts. Clay
is day to day so he's questionable and Loon is out,
you know, for the for the series. Kerr added that

(01:48:32):
andre Iguodala will play in Game three tomorrow night and
did participate in practice today. Meanwhile, Kawhi Leonard of the
Raptors a short time ago, was asked about the lawsuit
that he filed against Nike earlier this week, and Leonard
delivered a voluminous response by his standards. I mean, it

(01:48:54):
happened a long time ago. It's probably do you guys
are just finding out that, Um, it's not a big
worry of minks like I know about it. Wow, someone
had an extra shot of espresso this morning elsewhere? Get this.
Adrian war Zanowski reporting a short time ago that the
Lakers are hiring former Memphis Grizzlies and Brooklyn Nets head

(01:49:14):
coach Lionel Hollins as an assistant, joining Jason Kidd on
Frank Vogel's coaching staff. Sean's Rantio reporting earlier today that
David Griffin and the New Orleans Pelicans have begun listening
to teams about potential trade offers for Anthony Davis. Speaking
of trades in the NFL, Cleveland running back Duke Johnson
reiterated today during the first day of their o t

(01:49:37):
A S that he still wants to be traded. That
New England Patriots released veteran titen Austin Seferian Jenkins. He's
reportedly taking a month off to work on some personal issues.
Back to Doug Gottlieb in ten seconds. But first award
from farmers at Farmers Insurance. We know a roof can
withstand a lot, one exception being an airborne car. Seen

(01:49:59):
it covered it, talked to farmers. We are farmers underwritten
my Farmers truck Fire Insurance exchanges and affiliates products not
available in every state. Doug Gallup Show, You're on Fox
Sports Radio. Big story of the day is that the
Pelicans are now at least listening to trade offers. Like,
what was that? Is the trade offer? I wasn't even
listening to that before. I had no idea. Scott Kushner

(01:50:19):
joins us. Uh. He he covers the Pelicans for The Advocate,
following on Twitter at Scott d. Kushner. So apparently the
meeting went about as well as we thought it would
go between um, David Griffin, the new general manager, and
Anthony Davis, right like, please please please, will you know?
Thank you? Sleep sleep on it. No, Anthony Davis still

(01:50:42):
wants out of New Orleans. Yeah, I don't think there
was much expectation that he was going to necessarily change
his mind of I think really that that meeting was
to clear the air between the two and see if
they can get some way for a d too, to
help them out with regards to when they make the
trade to be able to, you know, put some sort

(01:51:02):
of long term commitment on there, because that will obviously
change the calculus of the entire deal. And so I
think a lot of that was just kind of laying
a new groundwork, saying, hey, I'm not delt demps Um.
This is there's no bad blood between us. Let's try
to figure us out and do something that works best
for both of us. So we we see the reports
from sham Sharania that three three desired destinations, uh, Lakers, Clippers, Knicks.

(01:51:31):
Is it is it really just the Lakers and they
want to find leverage or three all kind of equal
in terms of the diet desired destinations. Equal might be
a stretch. Um. I think that I think the Lakers
are probably uh, you know, definitely the number one option there. Uh,
but I certainly would see him signing long term with
either the Clippers or the Knicks, just based on you know,

(01:51:53):
talking to people around a d the last you know,
six months or whatever it is. I still think Boston
is in the mix as well. I think that they're
going to go after him aggressively, regardless of the fact
he's not on a list. I think they have seen,
certainly what happened Paul George, they saw what happened Kawhi
leonard Um, and they recognize that, you know, you gotta

(01:52:15):
you gotta give something up. To get something, and the
best chance they had to get someone like Anthony Davis
to bring him in in the building for a year. Um, okay,
So if you were to look at your crystal ball,
what do you think happens? I still think he ends
up in Boston. And I know I'm like doing the
sprinking minority of that, but I really do. I think
they have the most assets to give up. I think

(01:52:36):
they have the best collection of not only draft picks,
and also young players and rookie contracts, um and kind
of guys who have the most seasoning And when you
look at that combination altogether, it seems like they can
put forth the best offer. The question really that's lingering
is just what are they willing to give up if
a d is not willing to sign an extension the

(01:52:57):
second he gets there. Yeah, so I guess the question
like do we wait in Kauai? Right because Paul George
he didn't want to be in Oakland City, he stays there,
And if Kauai stays in Toronto, you know he doesn't
want to be there. But we don't know, like when
does this you know, when does this thing come to ahead? Yeah,
it's hard to tell because If a D is playing
this in a way that he's trying to engineer himself

(01:53:19):
to one place or the other, uh, you know, it's
gonna slow the process down. I don't think the Pelicans
are in a rush to get this done. Every single
person there has said, hey, we've really got until February
to do this, which is the trade deadline. Um, but
they would like to get it done by the draft.

(01:53:39):
They if not, the draft and free agency, and if not,
I mean there's a chance he's starting the season there.
But this certainly by telegraphing the idea of them opening up,
you know, listening to trade talks, whatever it does at
least send the message that hey, we do we are
ready to move on and we are ready to get
the started. But this was always kind of happening. They
weren't really listening the last few weeks. They got Trajan

(01:54:00):
langdon higher as the GM, they wanted him to get
his feet with, they wanted to meet with a D.
And now all that's happened, and yeah, so they're balancing
a lot of stuff. Yes so, uh, but it has
to be before the draft, right with, because you know,
with the potential trade to the Knicks, that's about their
draft pick, like Draft Knights, really the night where this
will happen. If it's going to be someone like the Knicks,

(01:54:21):
if it's going to be a different team, you can
get a future pick down the line. I mean that
Grizzlies pick is more valuable next year from Boston if
you know it's next season. Uh so there's ways that
you know you could do future draft picks. I don't
think they're all in on this draft necessarily, no, I know,
but there's no left. But there's no leverage. There's no
leverage there. You can't leverage the Knicks wanted to trade

(01:54:42):
for him, or the Lakers want to trade for him,
considering they have draft picks this year, right like that
leverage goes out the window. If they don't make a
move before the draft is consummated. The draft would give
them the best leverage certainly against anybody else. That is
definitely true. But if they don't get the offer they
like by the time the draft happens, then they could
certainly sit and wait. Um, it's just a matter of

(01:55:05):
exactly what they get offered, and it's gonna It's one
of those things. You've seen it a million times it
goes until the deadline. Second, you have to decide kind
of at that last second, like as that picks running
up the number three, then you decided to kind of
make a move because that's probably the best offer. So
it doesn't feel as if they really have a firm
concept of exactly what's coming at them, um, but they

(01:55:27):
are at least understanding now that this is, you know,
not gonna not gonna work out long term. At the
idea that a they've turned over to leave as a franchise,
that sales pitch, I don't think really was as meaningful
as they may be hoped for. And and and they
had reasonably had to take a shot at dealing great stuff.
Scott Kushner from The Advocate covering the New Orleans Pelicans.

(01:55:48):
Interesting news today as um, the Pelicans are now officially
listening to trade offers. It feels like a foregone conclusion
even but it was secularly a foregone conclusion for a
long time. Scott Grace, thanks for joining us, all right, Doug,
thanks so much. Man. Kobe Bryant is tired of everyone
making up stories about him. I'll explain next. Be sure

We call it the press. The press. Isaac Loewen Koran

(01:56:59):
hit me. This first item is all right, I'm in stories.
This first story. It's the first fight in my life
that I've ever won. Of course, you're headed to hr
right after the show, so it is what it is.
I'll take it. So our first item is your quintessential
en sports media story. The headline Kobe Bryant denies attending

(01:57:23):
Lakers practices last season. So TMZ Sports reported that Lance Stevenson,
who played with the Lakers last year, told them that
he was Kobe was always present at Laker practices last year.
Well earlier this morning, Stephen A. Smith launched into a
long and forceful denial, saying he spoke to Kobe yesterday

(01:57:46):
and that Bryant told him quote, I have never been
to a single practice. Those were his exact words, and
then a few other paragraphs at that. Now for context,
here is the original audio of the Land Stevenson quote.
And it wasn't exactly a sit down with David all Aldridge.
This is one of the TMZ paparazzo I guess you

(01:58:09):
would say outside of l a X talking to Land
Stevenson as he's getting into his car at the lower
level terminal's Lance, big fan, my man, big fan, love
your playing style. A lot of people think Kobe Bryant's
running the show. Then he's calling the shots. Is that
is that possibility? Who knows? Does he mentor you guys

(01:58:30):
at all? Definitely he always been to break That's what's something,
my man. All right, Thanks Lance, hard hitting NBA journalism
and its best. However, he has never been to practice.
I spoke to Kobe Bryant. Now Kobe is active for
Monday Night football with Hunter Henry and several other players

(01:58:51):
who will not play this Monday Night. I am having
a very bad day. Amazing, by the way, I love that.
Do you do you think that that that TMZ guy,
that Land Stevenson just happened to be like his favorite player? Oh,
I just love your playing style. I love the fact

(01:59:13):
that you might throw it into the stands or shooting
air ball, and that you played for eight NBA franchises already.
You're my guy, and you once blew and Lebron James's ear.
I'm sure if Nick Collison walked by during the heyday
of his Thunder career, the guy would say Nicholson only
Thunder player ever to have his number retire. That's right,
fan favorite all the way back to the Seattle SuperSonics days,

(01:59:37):
first day of O T A s in the NFL
and high hopes in the New York Jets training camp.
Levy on Bell thrilled to be there, and he thinks
that he and Sam Donald have something special going. He says,
we're going to kind of bounce off each other, and
I think it's gonna be a special duo in the backfield.
And here were Adam Gates and who had coach of

(01:59:58):
the Jets. His thoughts on that we can work on
the field. It's great for the coaches. I think it's
good for the other guys as well, because you get
used to a guy's running style. So I mean, there's
a lot of little tiny details that you really can
accomplish when in person. So far, so good. In the
land of the Jets, so much better, so incredible. He

(02:00:18):
was on the field for one o t a practice.
But I do feel for Adam Gaates, right, like you
take over our team. You didn't want to spend that
much money in running back? They do. And then like
he knows shows, Yeah, your Super Bowl tickets elsewhere in Cleveland.
Oh is this fun? Earlier today they're O t A s.

(02:00:39):
Duke Johnson reiterating I love Duke. Hey, coaches Sefski, how
are you? I meant love Duke? What do you think
of Doug Godleib? Is he the recruit that got away?
I love Duke. I had Stevo Jahowski at the time.
He was my favorite point guard. And I don't recruit
over a guy then, now do so much of life

(02:01:03):
is about timing the other. Duke Duke Johnson reiterating his
trade request. If that's getting rid of me for a
bigger piece and a better piece, I'm okay with it.
Like I said before, my trade request was to meet
them in the middle ground. I was put on the
trade block a month before I requested a trade. So
that's all. It is, the juicy part. Baker Mayfield's response today,

(02:01:24):
you know, it's self inflicted. It is what it is.
It's not awkward for anybody else in this building. He's
got to do his job, and he said he's a professional.
I hope he does his job. Baker directing some hard
knocks at Duke. Seriously, he made his bed, Like dude,
they have three running backs. He's the odd man out,
so whatever. But that's like, look, that's again, everything Baker

(02:01:47):
says is to to to show kind of leadership. I
do think that at some point you start talking about
other people's decisions, and like Baker, he wants out. He
just you don't know the conflicting alliances within that locker room.
Oh so true, And soon enough you're going to be
the one who's caught up in the business angle. Of everything,
and yeah, you know it's it's a young player, but

(02:02:07):
going out of his way to emerge as a a
leader or a spokesperson for that team. Onto the Bay Area,
where Raider's head coach John Gruden says that quarterback Alex
Smith is recovering nicely. Says it's a lengthy process, but
he thinks Smith will be back sooner than people think.
He was asked also if Smith can throw the ball

(02:02:29):
as well as was seen in a recent photo, and
Gruden responded, and I'm sorry I hit the wrong button again.
He smiled and said he can play catch. So read
into that way you will. Hm. Gruden said that, yeah,
he can play catch. That's almost like Marie Antoinette, let

(02:02:50):
them eat cake. He can play catch. I don't know.
I think people listening think they got the Marie Antoinette
thing there. I think hand hand shot up just all
over the studio, and I'm sure the hands are shooting
up all over social media. Over social media because people
on social media are known for their command of French

(02:03:13):
history elsewhere, back to ancient history. As far as the
Tampa Bay Buccaneers are concerned. And that's Gerald McCoy. His
thoughts on being released by the Bucks. He says, business
is business. In arguably the greatest quarterback ever was released
by the Colts and Peyton Manning. If Peyton is gonna
be let go, anyone can, it's a business. We're moving

(02:03:33):
on those the words of New Panther Gerald McCoy. He
signed with the He signed with the Panthers. How they
missed that? When did that happen? Yesterday? Now his free
agent visits kind of we're under the radar, so it
wasn't exactly like you know, the Player's Tribune, But yeah,
it was a couple of days ago. It was like
either them or Cleveland and another team. Yeah, and then

(02:03:53):
how much did he get? I'll have to look that
one year deal? Yeah, Well that's interesting because they signed
him with in Dominquan Sue for less money, who was
a money saver, and they stigned Dominican super for like
nine million. He was making thirteen. He ends up getting
eight and a half. So, according to Rappaport, one year,

(02:04:14):
eight and a half, four million, four million to sign
three million dollar base that's a pretty nice breakdown. And finally,
on the Major League Baseball multiple let's believe that the
New York Yankees are going to land Dallas Kaikel and
that they are emerging as the true favorites for the
former Cy Young Award has a shave, right, He's agreed
that he'll shave his beard because you can't have a

(02:04:36):
you can't have a beard to play for the Yankees.
That's so weird actual years ago. I like it. I
like it, well, I don't care a beard guy, Like, look,
we have rules. Everybody's got a you know, everybody's got
a shave. Not a big deal. Donnie Baseball can shave.
You can shave. What if you're just like a really

(02:04:58):
hairy guy, right, and like you shave in the morning
and you show up in your Wolfman at night. There
are guys like that. Every everyone has a friend like
that Metal World Peace tomorrow. Who else there were somebody
