of the Doug got Leave Show on Fox Sports Radio. Look,
let's react to the fact that the Toronto Raptors are
the champions of the NBA and as much as the
reality of this of uh and the context of what
took place last night, which was kind of the culmination
(00:43):
of a tragic series of injuries for the Golden State Warriors,
which started with Kevin duran who missed all but twelve
minutes of the series, and then of course Durant tears
his achilles tendon and last night Clay Thompson we now
know as torn his um a c L. Combine that
(01:03):
with Boogie Cousins being a shell of himself because he
missed most of the playoffs and most of the regular
season due to two very different injuries. Andre Goodala playing hurt,
Keivan Luney playing hurt, Andrew Bogan not playing because he's
hurt and because he's old. And yes, the Raptors technically
won the game. Steph Curry had a chance to win
(01:25):
it late, he missed the three that after a terrible
turnover by Danny Green, the likes of which could have
been in the in the in the range of Isaiah
Thomas taking the ball out and throwing it in and
Larry Bird Baird steals the ball. That's how big that
turnover could have been. But alas the Raptors were very
(01:47):
fortunate and challenged Steph Curry's jump shot at Oracle, it
missed a time out that didn't really matter, took place,
and the Toronto Raptors are the champions, so they beat
a team that was a shell of their former self.
But they did beat him three times on their own
floor at Oracle Arena, closing out that old building which
(02:11):
had seen more games than any place in the NBA
outside of Madison Square Garden. Closing out that old building
in a really kind of eerie fashion. Then we had
the Messiah Yugeri getting into it with security guard because
he didn't have the right credential and wasn't presenting it,
and so I guess he took a swing at the
security guard and now it's an international incident. Plus we
(02:34):
have all the other ramifications with what could take place
in the off season with free agency, as Clay Thompson
and Kevin Durant could be unrestricted free agents to go
along with the potential and likely trade of Anthony Davis
from New Orleans, Kema Walker spending free agency, Kyrie Irving's
free agency, et cetera, and Kawhi Leonard what happens there?
(02:59):
Like that was the last basketball game in the NBA
that will be played, but not the last time We'll
be talking about the NBA until the season begins next year.
But I I always wonder when the moment was when
something tipped? Have you have you read the book by
Malcolm Gladwell The Tipping Point? Now, the truth is that
(03:22):
there really isn't a moment that most of the case
studies that Malcolm glad Bow uses tipped. But the idea
is when did trends become trends and when did they
go cold? Uh to to steal from the and this
is a very dated but I know buyer will get
it because though he doesn't watch movies, he does watch
TV shows and he is from Wisconsin. Probably the most
(03:45):
overused expression is when did something jump the shark? And
jump in the shark is a reference to Happy Days,
when an episode that was so terrible, so awful, um
that even and cliches wouldn't touch it. It's when the
Fonds Arthur Fonzarelli a literally jumped a shark on Happy
(04:09):
Days and that was the moment where you realize that
Happy Days, as we had previously known, it was over.
When did Rome fall? When did ancient Greece fall? I
remember the HBO TV show Rome, right you're and you
saw the kind of chinks in the armor of the
Great Roman Empire? What well I can tell you when
(04:33):
Rome fell? In the NBA, and it was last night
when Clay Thompson drove to the basket, actually dunked the basketball,
got fouled, but landed awkwardly and towards a c l.
Now there's there, there's it's gonna go down in ancient
Warriors lure that he wanted to come back in the game.
Matter of fact, during the TV time out, he left
(04:56):
the game, walk down the tunnel and then walked back
and then check back into the game, all without necessarily
checking out made two free throws, and they end up
fouling and not taking him out after the two made
free throws, which, by the way, I mean, if you
want to really trace it back and you want to
get into these things, Pascal Siakam knocks down those two
(05:17):
free throws. If they don't intentionally foul, what is the
final score. But if you factor in that, Clay Thompson
won't be able to play for at least half of
the NBA season next year, if and when he resigns
with the Golden State Warriors, or maybe he does not.
If you factor in that, Kevin Durant won't be able
to play for three quarters to potentially all of the
(05:40):
Warriors season next year, even if he resigns, you'd have
to reasonably take the Warriors out of contention for an
entire season. And while you might sit here and go,
all right, it's one year, right, Jordan's missed a year
and a half before he came back to the NBA,
(06:00):
and that first year back he wasn't sharp. He missed
two years. He came back and then they won three titles.
I caution you, because look, two years, a year and
a half is a long time. Steph Curry, as terrific
as he is his thirty one, he's had a history
of injuries, and while will have to carry the Golden
(06:23):
State Warriors through next season, the fact is the fact
is that that can wear you down and cause even
more injuries. All right, so so then they so so
if you take next year off, everybody is a year
and a half, two years older when they can make
a championship run, and the entire NBA will have changed
(06:44):
by then. You don't believe me. Look at the NBA now,
and then look at the NBA two seasons ago, two
whole seasons ago, Kyrie Evering was on the calves with
Kevin Love and Lebron James. That was too, I was
only two years ago. Right, Go back and look at
all the different player movement, Go back and look at
all the guys that have emerged. Stands the reason that
(07:07):
in two years Jana Sintenna Coupo will have a more
polished game. The same can be said if healthy for
Joel Embiid, for Ben Simmons. We'll see what happens with
Jayson Tatum. These young players will be fresher and better
than the older Warriors, And there's a group of older players,
and James Harden right now is in his prime, but
(07:30):
Chris Paul is not. What happens that like that, the
whole league is gonna change. Forget the game last night
that became if the Warriors somehow found a way to
win that game, They're not winning Game seven without Clay Thompson,
without Kevin Durant. It was a crowning moment for the
Toronto Raptors, but it's also that's the moment that Rome fell.
(07:54):
A five year improbable run where Clay Thompson missed all
of one game. Where were they They added arguably the
best player in the game midway through that run, Draymond
Green in his prime, Steph Curry in his prime, Clade
Thompson in his prime, Kevin Durant in his prime, and
(08:16):
the newness of Steve Kerr and the fresh play with
Joy Baald movement approach, all of those things. Two years
from now, the league's gonna completely be different, and the
likelihood of running it back and playing it again is
nominal at best. What you saw last night was not
(08:37):
just the last night of the Oracle uh an old
building which had been redone but became a magnificent palace
to celebrate basketball. What you saw last night was the
last stand of the Roman Empire, and ultimately Rome fell
as did the Warriors. Be sure to catch live editions

so The Doug got Leap Show weekdays at noon eastern
three pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I
Heart Radio App. One of the elite insiders and all
of sports media covering the NBA, Chris Haynes, Yeah, who sports,
(09:20):
the senior NBA insider, kind of to spend some time
this here on the Doug Gotlic Show on Fox Sports Radio. Um, Chris,
let's let's start with well, I'll get your most recent report,
which you broke about Jimmy Butler a little bit later on.
But in terms of last night, the things that will
not go discussed, How terrible was that turnover from Danny Green,
(09:42):
Like now we're just you Sims jury. He went for
it like they got the ball with a one point lead,
and Danny green freaks out and throws one in the
stands that. I mean, obviously that's right now because it's
a relevant at this point. But know that that was definitely,
uh could have been a dearly costly blunder. And if
(10:06):
you look at the way, you know, the way it
all transpired, you know he still had because dribble, you know,
he could have he could have you know, he could
have took a couple of dribble to get himself, you know,
out of that trap area along the baseline. But I
think he just panicked and threw it, threw it away.
And uh no, definitely, they they they overcame, They overcame
(10:30):
what could have been a costly blunder, and uh, you know,
we're pretty sure he feels good about that right now. Yeah, No,
it's it's it's really kind of amazing. Um take take
give me some insight into this Messai Yujeri thing, because
we've seen the video now where he gets into it
with a security guard because allegedly wasn't presenting the right credential,
which I do understand can happen and it's a miscommunication.
(10:54):
Will everybody just go like our bad and move on,
or or does this thing get worse before it gets better.
I don't know how to answer that. Um that I
will say this is that you know, we've we've seen
the clips. We all seen it, but it's really the
aftermath of what initially happened. You know, we don't see
the blow allegedly that that he swung, what they swung
(11:18):
on the officer. Uh. All we've seen is an individual
who I know the individual is, you know, kind of
holding the side separated from the cops. They look like
the cops that were gonna take them. That's where it
looks like the elective are gonna tasee them right there
on the spot. Um. And so I think until you know,
video evers comes out and look it's it's an arena,
(11:40):
you know, it's going to come out somehow, a video
ever of exactly what happened. I think you have to
wait to to see, uh you know, what's on that
film to to see if what is the alleged to
happen actually happened. Um. So I I don't I don't
think this is something that's gonna die down or blow
over until we see video. Will it, in your opinion,
(12:02):
have an effect on the Wizard's Uh, pending offer, which
has been discussed by people. Uh well, yeah, I mean
I think I think if destment has the way way in.
And I'll say this, you know Candice Buckman and the Post.
You know, she reported that there isn't an imminent office
(12:23):
on the table. Now I don't know if that is
because of what happened last night or is that or
she's saying that it was never in the plans at all.
But now, definitely this is something you have to consider.
I mean, look, come on, I mean, if if what happens,
if if what is a lass to have happened really happened,
(12:43):
I mean, that's that's a serious offense. You know. You know,
I don't I don't know too many people who could
get away with, you know, or putting their hands on
the cop and not have some type of robust cop
you know, consequences for those actions. So now I think
this is a serion situation that you know, we're gonna
co treat the monsor and like I said, until video
(13:04):
cuts out of the the the actually alleged incident, you know,
I think, you know, we we have to we have
to wait and see what happens from there. Clay Thompson
ters his a c l Um. It's been reported his
dad says he's gonna resign, no question. Um. And we've
seen Brian Winher say, look, they're gonna offer him and
(13:24):
k D there there there max and supermax contracts. What
do you think the summer looks like for the Warriors.
I think Clay comes back to Shore. I really do
think so, Um at what cost? Of what price? You know?
I spoke with the owner, Zoe Lake up and he
(13:48):
told me that, you know, this injury will not have
the effect on what they decided to do with Clay Thompson.
Um So it's definitely hard like clay'on verse the Max,
That's that's what he wants, that's what he's worked. Um,
I do. I would think he still would get to
(14:10):
go to State. Uh so I think everything would be
all all as well. There The problem is, you know,
obviously play Clay won't be back until lifely after the
All Star break. You know, if if that and then
he talks about shown the rant, that's it's which even
more complicated, you know, because you know we all we
were hearing rumors about you know, he's already looking elsewhere anyway.
(14:33):
So it's gonna be a tough situation for go to state.
But I think I think this is uh, this, this
is something that I've never experienced before becausing or leaves
almost ten years man, and this is untrusting in it.
Just let's see two caliber players go down like that
(14:55):
in the NBA Finals, Uh, and two players who happened
to be the agent in a couple of weeks. Crazy, right,
I mean crazy the way it happened, and and and
neither were they're both non contact injuries. Yeah, it's it's
unprecedented though, So I don't you know, I don't want
to hear him sit here and b s everyone and
(15:17):
act like I know you know what's going to happen,
what takes place, because this is we haven't seen anything
like this before. But I think I think obviously priorities
still is, you know, retain Clay Thompson and Kevin Durant. Yeah,
I just think to have a better chance of getting
one of those. Alright, So, so what about Kevin Durant.
So far, everything that he has posted, everything his mother
(15:41):
has said, UM, there's been no negativity from Rich Kleiman,
who apparently was in on the decision. Uh, to allow
him to play in Game five. Uh, what what was
he told? What what legitimately was he told about his
leg before he took the floor in Game five? Well,
I mean from from what I'm hearing, you know, it's
(16:03):
what the Warriors are saying. Uh, you know, it was
a collaborate decision from the Warriors doctors, um, from Kevin
Durant himself, and from the Durants outside council of doctors.
So they all agreed, they all do that. That the
the extent of which he if he were to be
injured himself, that it would just be a capta injury. Uh.
(16:26):
Nobody expected that. Uh, it could be dis severe and
so it's this. It was just a catastrophic joke, man,
to to go in there and play level of twelve minutes, man,
and it costs you another a full season of basketball. Man.
That that's that's tough, especially when you hit your when
you hit your early thirties, man, when you have a
(16:46):
limited amount of years of flying left in your body,
that's a devastating below. Man, it's tough. I felt sorry
for your man. It was I said it happened. The
NBA fathers like that. Man, any time that any juncture
is bad. But it's just the way they all played down.
It was just an interesting like to the last two games,
(17:08):
it's just been unreal. Man's something I've I've never covered,
never seen. It is untrusted in the man. So I
think the Golden State Wars, I think they're just in
a state of shocking and disarray because yeah, I mean
we we haven't even discussed, you know, de Sean Levingston retire,
how much does how much more does Andre Gudla want
(17:29):
to play? Right? These are incredibly impactful pieces, uh, to
this championship puzzle that we don't know how they how
they put together in the future. A right, So Kb's injury,
I'm sure New York is still gonna go after him
because I mean, hell, they're New York. They have to
have Kevin Durant. But how does this change everything else? Uh?
(17:50):
For for Kevin Durant, We've never moved much charge you know,
the teams, the teams are still going to offer him
the match to it. That's that's that's the simple fact
of the matter. The only thing to change is that
you know, it's Kevin Durant does leave doing the State.
You know that team you just have to punt another year, uh,
(18:10):
you know, trying to tune, make some more assets and
maybe getting another high traffic Uh. That that's that's the
only thing. They will be investing a whole year into
his his rehab, you know, which could could be beneficial
to Kevin Durant if you get it. You know, if
chry to look on the bright side of things. You know,
the wear and tear, uh you can give you know,
preserve his body. Um, but it's going to be tough, man,
(18:35):
Kevin Durant. Like one thing about Kevin Durant, that's Kevin
Lebron day to day. I've covered then a little day
to day cover Truby Durrant, stephand tray, the distance between
Chevin direct those guys. Chevin the Rant is a pure hooper,
like hobbies, right, but yeah, like he has hobbies, he
guys are he has other things, but I'm talking about
(18:57):
business ventures. But you know his manager takes care a
lot of those things. And he's a hooper. He's a
straight hooper. That's all he wants to do. I mean
he was he was so up at a park and
just and just play randomly. That type of duty is
so for him to be out like this. This is
just devastated to him. Man, he's it's really a crushing blow.
(19:19):
But as far as financially, I don't think it's going
to impact him financially at all. And then you mentioned
things we haven't seen before. We got Kauai Leonard who
wins the final, wins the finals, m v P, wins
another championship, and now we kind of wait to hear
what Kauai is gonna do. Chris Hanes joining u from
Yahoo Sports NBA Senior NBA Insider, Um, how do you
(19:45):
think winning a championship affects Kauai's decision? Uh, that's a
good question. That's a good question. I'll say this often
from when you look at Kauai, He's always talked playing basketball.
You know, it's just that's a hobby for him, Like
this is fun, this is what he wants to do,
(20:06):
but he doesn't take it too seriously. Um, if you
look at his career, he's already accomplished multiple NBA champion,
multiple finals, MVP, so he has that on his resume already.
You know, when we report, when we report back, when
you want to be traded about l A being a
the investments you want to, you know, go to He
wanted to be close to home. You know that was
(20:27):
beyond basketball, you know, that was just about a comfort level.
And so I look at now like to answer you,
of course, I don't know what he's gonna do, but
I will say this is that he's given Toronto, you know,
all that they should have every ask for and probably
even more. I don't think anybody expecting him one year,
coming off of the year he had when he was injury,
(20:48):
didn't play much, to come and lead a team to
a championship. The team, a franchise, never had it a
long for it. So I think if he were to leave,
I don't think what. I don't think Raptors fans would
be upset or I don't think they should be upset
because he he took him to the promising land. He
did it, and so I think you should have a
free pass to do that he wants to do without
(21:10):
even time to be percussions and uh, you just don't know.
But you could definitely see, especially twill the latter pointing
season with the Raptors, that he would really enjoying Themselum
really finding a trust level with the medical staff, of
the team and the first Milks. We know all that
was lost in San Antonio last year, So I still
think it's a good Uh. I think it's a very
(21:34):
good chances of him uh staying in Toronto. And then
you have the Anthony Davis sago which continues in New Orleans.
The injury to Clay Thompson has to energize the Lakers
and everybody really in the West to go for it,
seeing as the Warriors are going to be down next
year no matter what happens with their with their roster. Uh.
(21:55):
Do you believe Anthony Davis will be a Laker by
the NBA draft. I think there's a good chance. And
the reason I say that, you know a couple of
you know, a couple of different elements. You know, David
Griffin running things over the warless he doesn't have that
the ill effects or the the ill will towards what
(22:17):
happened months ago, uh being doing the trade deadline because
he wasn't there. So it's a fresh payer of eyes,
fresh payer perspective. And then he had Zion Williamson to
the to the situation. You know, they want to bring
they want to put him around a great um a
great foundation, stress free organization from the get go, and
(22:38):
so you don't want to have the Auntie Davis Lincoln
Linger effect going on. So I think all of that
bowls will to the Lakers chances of acquiring them, you know,
by the draft, because you have those elemencies, you know,
and and then with Boston, it just hurts their chances,
I really do think, because I just it doesn't like
higher years. We saw him and and anthy Davis agent
(23:01):
Wis Paul coming out publicly and basically statement that you know,
if if the such trade for him is just a
one year round, So it just doesn't look good for
their chances. That's why I think all those relevents to combine,
I think it's a good shocker to make us pull
us off. Awesome stuff. Chris, We really appreciate you join us.
It's been an outstanding year and I know it's just
(23:21):
only just beginning with all of the offseason moves. Check
out Chris Haynes's most recent podcast. It's posted up with
Chris Haynes. Who do you have this week? Uh, this
week we're getting our changed name the name, but it's
it's an all star board. I'll just say I'll just
say it like that, and so we're hoping to get
that up within the week or within the next two weeks. Awesome,
(23:43):
Thanks Chris. Be sure to catch live editions of The
Doug Dot Leap Show weekdays at noon eastern three pm Pacific.
Agent Wardanowski said this on Kauai's future in Toronto. He
came to Toronto with the idea from San Antonio that
this was this was a very fine one year way station,
way station, and I'm sure it exceeded his expectations. How
(24:07):
they managed him physically to be a finals m v
P again, to win a championship, but there was always
the risk of him going back west. The l A
Clippers are the very top of that list. I think
the Raptors still have work to do between now and
June and the start of free agency to keep Kawai
Leonard in Toronto. Look, look, what what I think is
really important to recognize is that just because Kawaide Leonard
(24:30):
decides to step one a championship does not mean that
a one year rental is gonna win you a championship.
Like look, Paul George decided to stay in Oklahoma City,
So people, wow, you know, Paul George, like one, how
did that work out for him? Was that actually the
best decision? And that's the decision to stink to Paul
George's and plenty of other one year guys. Kyrie Irving,
(24:51):
it was in Boston two years with no promise. He
actually made the promise to resign the start of the
year and he's likely out. So like if you want
to use one eye is a trend that is such
an ill fated argument to make. Fox Sports Radio has

Why did you come here like you weren't? Because I
love Watson Tiger Woods compete for the US Open at
(25:34):
Pebble Beach. I was here in two thousand when he
won by a million strokes. It was one of the
greatest experiences of my sports life. And so me and
about eight friends are here, uh, hoping to duplicate that magic,
but it's not gonna happen. I love, I love Brooks Kepta.
Now I wanted Tiger to get to four under today.
(25:55):
I thought that was perfect position. Brooks kept is gonna
win this tournament. I'm I'm with you on Brooks. I
was asked, who did you buy? Who do you has?
He has Brooks? Or who are Roy Roy McRae, And
I said, I said Brooks, Although you know Rory one
last week and Rory still hasn't teed off yet, so
what's to say that he's not very much in contention?
But uh, but but Brooks has been remarkably, remarkably impressive.
(26:16):
I thought Dustin Johnson would be better yesterday than he was.
He finished up even part. What was wrong with Tiger today? Uh?
His he just didn't knock anything really close with his irons.
He was better than he was yesterday because yesterday he
got billed out by his putter. He wasn't that great
with his irons. But today he couldn't knock get anything close.
(26:38):
And then he just didn't get those magical puts that
he knocked down yesterday. All right, let's let's let's go
to last night. Um, you and I are watching the
NBA Finals as it as it took place. Um, there
are some that are like, look, this really hurts the
legacy of Steph Curry. I'm gonna disagree from from this standpoint.
How could I don't I look at But again, I
(26:59):
watched other people on TV. I've heard other people on radio,
and I'm like, they're playing a box in one, Like
they're playing a bucks in one in the NBA Finals.
Everybody on this team got hurt. How does this hurt
his legacy because he missed the last shot that could
have on Steve Kerve for writing drawing up a horrible
bad shot. But no, Steph doesn't get hurt in this.
(27:22):
They damn near one last night. Don't you know who
got hurt last night? Toronto? You're gonna put an asterisk
by that championship. It's the same as when Hakim wanted
Uh and again, Hakim's great player, kawl And is a
great player. But all those damn inageries. We know Golden
State was a better team. I would agree with you.
Do you think this is the end of the run
(27:44):
for the for the Warriors? No? Uh, you know they
gotta recalibrate. If I were them, I would move on
from Kevin Durant, and I would you know, you gotta
move on from Andre Equadala. Uh, you gotta regroup. It's
a lot like the Bulls. People forget that. The Bulls
first run they had one group. The second run they
(28:05):
had difficult. The only guys that remained were Michael Jordan
and Pippen. The rest are completely do right man, Dennis
Rodman wasn't with. The first group is Horace Grant. Second
group is Dennis Rodman. You know. First group it was
first John Paxson and then b J. Armstrong alongside him.
Second group it was you know, Steve Curran and Ron
Harper was was also kind of the quasi point guard there.
(28:26):
So I would I would agree with you. Why would
you move on from Kevin Durant because he's coming off
and to kill he's injury, He's gonna miss a year.
It's hard for me to see him being the same player.
You gotta keep, Uh, Clay, I would think, uh, And
then I wouldn't. I would make an I would sit
around and have a conversation about how really committed are
(28:48):
we to Draymond? I would have the conversation. I'm not saying,
but dude, the guy had thirty turnovers in this series.
Well he's also he's their point guard, right, Like it's
one of those at eight night. I understand. I understand.
Part of it is the the guy that he's trying
to get the ball to isn't open much, and the
guys that are open are open for a reason, like
(29:10):
it's it's really and I understand. But the other part
to it, like here's the here's the hard part to
Draymond is I don't think he can go anywhere where
he is as effective and as important as he is
in Golden State. On the other hand, they can't let
him go anywhere because there just aren't that many other
Draymond Greens who can pass the way he can guard
(29:33):
all five positions and occasionally make shots. Like it's a
really hard thing, Like they're not going to recalibrate and
maybe get a point guard who doesn't do much else
other than handle the ball a Lonzo ball. You know, again,
he's not open, he's not available, but he might be
an ideal like point guard for them can defend distribute
to ball that they doesn't need to be a score,
(29:53):
find him at Avery Johnson and and go about in
a different way. Get the ball out of steff Syd
because you know he'll turn it over to and he
sets a tone for sloppiness that leads to silly turnovers. Again,
I love steps, No, but you're you're simply pointing out
the reality of Like he's he is a point guard,
but he's not. He will make creative passes, but will
also turn it over. He gets deals, but he's not
(30:15):
really a good defender. Right, But and he and you
have to live with the fact that he's gonna take
some crazy shots and then he throws him and he
throws him in a ridiculous percentage. I like to wish him, like,
you have to understand what you have. I don't think
you can get a non scoring. You have to get
somebody who can really guard, and have to get somebody
who can shoot to to so the defense has to
(30:37):
respect him, right And it's a it's a hard thing
somewhere between Gottlieb and Jason Kidd. Yeah. Yeah, if you
can find that, it's it's it's hard to find. Um. Okay,
So if you're Kevin Durant, what do you do well?
If if I'm Kevin Durant, what I do is I
stay in Golden State. I think that's the ideal situation
(30:58):
for him. If I were him, I'd want to stay
there and you know, get a max contract, red shirt
a year, come back and play with Stephen Clay. And see,
the thing is, they're not gonna win next year no matter,
you know, if Clay stays, If Clay and k d stay,
I you know, I could both of them play next year.
Sure are they going to be themselves next year? No?
(31:20):
More than likely they're not. And we go to years
when when when did they think, like Clay would be
ready to play j anywhere? I mean a cls you
could be back, I mean you could be back as
early as early in the season. But the likely like now,
Golden State's gonna be gunshot. They ain't playing anybody early
right like they're gonna be super as they care about
they won't play. They don't care about Kadi. They thought
(31:41):
he was leaving, so they stuck him out there in
the court. Because it's factual. They they played Demand hadn't
played in a month, and they set him out there
for twelve of the first fourteen minutes. Let him jump center,
let him think he could take people off the dribble
like nothing had changed. They didn't protect the dude at
all because they thought he was leaving and said, hey,
(32:01):
let's try to steal the championship. I know you see
the bad in people, right, Maybe I have no you're
saying that they treated like a rented mule that is
treat and seen the bad and people. I see it
as dude, he wanted to play. He brought in any
You don't think he brought in his own doctors. I'm
sure he wanted to play. You can tell him. No,
there's a lot of things your kids want you don't
give him. I wanted to cookie every night. My parents
(32:22):
gave it to me. It was a mistake. I think
I personally think that they had to know there was
a chance it was already slightly torn. Already slightly torn. Then,
why are you crying, Bob Myers cry? If he thought
this through, he wouldn't be out there with those crocodile
tears if he thought this was a possibility. Why, Steve Kerr.
(32:44):
We're gonna let Bob Bard answer all questions, But let
me tell you about immigration. Let me tell you what
Trump's doing wrong in the White House. I know nothing
about Kevin Durant and this injury. I've got nothing to say.
I don't know anything about it. That's Bob Myers. But
if you want to talk immigration, you want to talkers
also proto that. But there's also protocol. And how you
(33:04):
talk about the team business. Well, you're the hit coach.
You stuck him out there for twelve of the first
four team minutes. You had him jump in center, answer
some damn questions. Don't run and hide. You don't run
and hide on anything else. No, I mean, he said
he all he can do is if he's cleared, he
can play. If he doesn't clear, he can't play him
that that's the only way he can. He's supposed to
answer questions, and having been a GM in the league,
(33:25):
I think he knows that. I think that was more
about protocol. I saw your piece on it, and I
I I just I think that's more what Steve Kerr
was getting to. I do wonder because that's your pie
hole on other stuff. You don't know a damn thing
about follow protocol there. But I don't want to here immigration.
I want to hear him on basketball and why Kevin
Durant was stuck out there like a rented mule. I
(33:46):
want to hear him address that. But more than I
want to hear him if he was a rented mule,
They're gonna offer him the Super Max. Wouldn't that go
encounter to the idea? I hope they do. I hope
they do, because that'll be guilt what'll be called basketball
and they'll give him a max contract. I hope they do.
They owe it to him. What do the Lakers do
next year? Well, I guess sounds like they're gonna get
(34:07):
Anthony Davis in the world will be healed and Lebron
will be magically restored back to two thousand and eight.
Lebron James. He's gonna play both ends of the court
because Anthony Davis is there. That's the narrative. Anthony Davis
shows up in his championship batters just flow down on
Staples Center. I'm not a convinced because Lebron's oldiest, he
can't play both ends of the court anymore. A D
(34:28):
doesn't win a lot in New Orleans. Uh, And I'm
not sure they actually fit together that well. Like I
think defensively, a D can cover can can cover for
Lebron and if they keep Kuzma and whoever else they have.
But offensively, like the big guys that play with Lebron James,
our guys that stand out in the corner and take
jump shots. That's not what Anthony Davis does. No, no, no,
(34:49):
but he will with Lebron because that's what everybody else understand.
Chris Boss, Kevin Love two point oh yeah. And I
just don't understand. I don't understand how that works though, right,
Like it worked because they had because Lebron was prime Lebron,
and because they had Kyrie. But I don't I'm not
convinced that works in l A with with with the Lakers. Um,
(35:10):
all right, so you don't think the Warriors are done,
but you think they have to recalibrate. Yeah, I'm not
convinced the Warriors are no. The NBA for the first
time in years. Wide open, wide open. Uh. And so
you know, we gotta see what the Clippers ad. Uh.
We gotta see you know, I guess New York's not
(35:33):
really but we gotta see maybe Milwaukee does something, Uh,
find somebody that can bail out or Houston. We let's
see what what Houston doesn't. I don't either, but they
don't like D'Antoni. Uh the Chris Chris Paul's alabatross now. Uh,
James Harden has been exposed. You know he's a great
January February player, but may Jo know so the heat
(35:55):
turns up so particular jackets off. He's not the same player.
I think what's interest thing there is when you talk
about the recalibration of the Warriors. Remember if it's in
two years now steps thirty one, right, and you mentioned
if they keep ki Kad they don't how much are like,
are we doing a snapshot of right now and not
realizing that the league will change and these players oftentimes
(36:18):
will not be better two years from now, because that's
when the Warriors will be have have a shot again.
Let me tell you the team that interested me, and
I'm being serious it depending on how this trade goes, Uh,
the Pelicans. Actually, Zion Williamson I believe is going to
be a superstar in this league. I think he's got
particularly in a regular season, he's just gonna be a
force of nature. I think by the time, even if
(36:40):
there's a rookie year, I'm t I think with the
right piece of Pelicans to me, could depending on how
this trade goes, what they put around Drew Holiday, I like,
two years from now, I think they may be a
title contended. There's no question. Think about this. If you
have Lonzo Ball, Drew Holiday, Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson
and whatever else they had, they add some veteran pieces like,
(37:02):
that's an unbelievable defensive team. Unbelievable group of young athletes. Uh,
three of which right now are under rookie contracts. Even
in two years too will be under rookie contracts. You
can go out and spend a bunch of real chip
on their shoulders. Yes, yes, um what how would you
characterize Kawhi Leonard? Like? When I coming into the year,
(37:25):
I always thought my third best player in the NBA
k D and Lebron one and two. Now Lebron appears
to have age. K D is has a torn achilles tendon.
It's quite learned. The best player in the NBA. He's yeah,
because I'm not ready to go there with your honest,
because you honest, isn't a guy that can you can
get buckets with in the last two or three minutes.
He's just not a guy you throw it too, and
(37:46):
so yeah, Kauai Leonard right now is one or two. Look,
some people say James Harden or whatever. I'm not that guy.
Uh but but but but I'll tell you what is interesting.
We're gonna overvalue Kauai bit because Toronto has stolen this
(38:06):
championship because the Warriors were beat up recent recency bias
and uh and and result by us as well. Right,
we're gonna lose last night, Yes, if Clay doesn't get
hurt yet perfect perfect samples. Danny Green's a winner. Like, dude,
I just saw Danny Green airmail passed where all you
had to do is hold onto it and get fouled,
(38:27):
make two free throws, and they got a three point lead.
But because of the bad team that just won a championship.
Think about this. A buddy of mine texted me last night,
should Lebron have stayed in the East, could Lebron and
whatever scraps they put together in Cleveland were they better
than Toronto and would have won this title? Uh? They
(38:47):
would definitely would have had a shot. I mean it
would have been I mean, look, the Philadelphia seventy six
ers are one crazy bounce away from forcing over time
on the road Game seven, and no one thought the
Philadelphia seventy sixers were, you know, were some elite, refined,
perfect team. They had no bench at all. So to
answer your question, yeah, like I I tweeted that out
Lebron James the m m v P of the NBA
(39:10):
Finals because he left and you opened up the East
and this is what happened, Jason Whitlock. The show is
