(00:27):
Ramos is here as well. Glad to have you with
this on this Friday. T G I F C G
I R. Thank goodness, it's Ramos. Yeah, alright, do we
have a John Ramos show today? I'm I'm just I'm
we do. Let me tell my headphones up a second
here because I can't hear anything. Um, we do, and
I'm music behind the fifth wall. Um, we do have

(00:50):
a show today. It's being currently written as we speak.
Al Right, fresh new stuff, fresh, that's what that's the word.
I I'm one. Or if we're going to have like
fake fraud misdirection today, I wonder if that's gonna be
Oh my god, you this should be psychic. I forget
about playing it last week. We should have been playing

(01:10):
it right now. A lot to a lot to a
lot of get to today at the John hold hold on,
Eric cross out that one. So, so, John, at what point, like,
when do you decide um, because obviously that's that's normal.
You know, you put together the this segment during the
live show, So when do you actually decide what bit

(01:34):
you're doing on the show? Has it? Are? Are you
just like crossing off options in your head right now?
Or do you like whittle down? Yes? Yes. I spoke
to Eric, who's sitting in for Ryan Music today, and
I said, Eric, we need to whittle this down during
the show when you guys are on the air, and
so he said, that sounds good to me, and we're
gonna be doing it in the next couple of hours.

(01:54):
I actually noticed yesterday in the first hour, John was
already going over lines. It was and I looked down
and he was he is he was buried in the script.
That's my favorite part of the whole thing is I
didn't know until maybe a year ago that the John
Ramo Show. First of all, I didn't know that John

(02:14):
didn't put together the John Ramo Show. I had no
idea that he had an entire production crew who put
it together. And secondly, when I'm seeing him read stuff,
I'm assuming he's having a conversation with somebody, And then
I realized there was nobody in the studio. He was
just reading the script. He was going over his lines.
I mean, you know, there's some people have acting class,
some people have the gen Ramo show. I liked it, John.

(02:37):
There are certain times when you have to be improvisational.
That's not one of them. Okay, that's good. So we
like to keep it right to the you know, strict
and right on the paper. I think it's funnier that way. Yeah,
I do too. Um that and uh well, I'll leave
that alone. That's a direction. John will also be recapping
Wimbledon coming up in about four all and you like Wimbledon,

(03:00):
and so I shouldn't knock it. I do. I I
do enjoy it, but I just just haven't gotten around
to it because we're too busy watching what Kawhi Leonard
is not going. Yes, that is that is something man
boy here there and everywhere. Again the reports, because we
don't know, we all just try to guess and get
a sense of well, there was this meeting. I did

(03:21):
it myself. Heck, I've changed my pick of where I
think he's going, because how this is all played out,
and we sit in the same exact spot jonas as
we were twenty four hours ago. Absolutely nothing has changed.
There have been reports, there have been maybe maybe some
leaks or some thoughts on where this decision is going,

(03:41):
but nothing has changed for Kauai Leonard that has become public.
Nothing has changed for the Lakers, Clippers or Rocks. Now.
I know it was mentioned in the top of the
hour update Isaac Loan Crown who said that the private jet,
the company that sponsors Kawuai Leonard, they tracked that jet
going from Toronto down to San Diego. Every one just
assumes that that means that it's for Kawuahi Leonard. How

(04:03):
do we not know it's for Manni Machado. I mean,
you cannot convince me that that's not for Manning Machado.
I remember Brian Giles was a padre for for a
short time, Dan. How do we know it's not for
Brian Giles. So so I just think that. And I
was gonna throw out some San Diego Charger, but they
left and playing a soccer stadium, so I can't can't

(04:24):
do that. So look, I just I think until we
actually see uh, either you know when I'm when I
know that Kawhi Leonard is going to be a raptor again?
When does the season start? When does uh? That's when
I know he's gonna be a raptor again. And here's
the best part about all this. Since everybody else is
getting it wrong. It's like if you found out part
way through the test in school that they said, yeah,

(04:45):
it's not going to count against your credit. Well, in
that case, why did I do all the why do
we got? This is a free pass for every insider
out there to get this one wrong because everybody's getting
it wrong. So let's just start throwing out ideas. If
that's what we're gonna do, let's throw out some idea
there is there is something that is got to be relaxing.
If you're the Brooklyn Nets, there's got to be something

(05:10):
at least being at peace, if you're the Boston Celtics
right now, or the Milwaukee Bucks or and it's not
just the Eastern Conference teams, it's basically teams that have
already got their plans done for free agency and that
now that you're just you're you're moving on and looking
forward to it as a fan. Jonas as a fan
of the Milwaukee Bucks. It would be better for Kawhi

(05:31):
Leonard to sign with the Clippers or Lakers, because you
wouldn't want him in the Eastern Conference. But I'm just
to the point of, all right, wherever it's going, just
let let this, just let this end however it happens already.
If you got to play him in the East, then
then the Bucks will play him. If you only face
him twice in the year in the in the Western Conference,
that's it's fine as well. There is something to be

(05:54):
at peace with not being involved. Look, there's a stress
level that comes along with her. Here are the people
that are stressed out about at the Lakers clearly, Laker fans, clearly,
the Clippers, Clipper fans clearly, uh and the Raptors and
Raptors fans and probably the entire country of Canada. They're
all stressed out. Also the people that have made predictions

(06:14):
and have said I'm hearing that he's going here. If
you've made a prediction on Kawhi Leonard, you're stressed out
about it. For the rest of us, kick our feet up, baby, Yeah,
why not another hot dog, another ConA big wave, Like why,
let's just sit back and relax. It's the same thing.
And I always feel this that it's really fun when

(06:37):
your team is in a championship game and you can
root for your team as a fan. You know what
else is fun when you don't have to stress out
about it. You're not you're not being hijacked. Your social
life isn't being hijacked because you're a an Islanders fan.
And and Game one of the Stanley Cup is on
Versus at eight Eastern time, like you know, and it's

(06:57):
a Friday night. You you don't have to worry about
all that, so you could just kind of sit back
and relax. For the rest of us, Let's just enjoy
the ride man, enjoy all the gossip, enjoy the stress,
the nail biting from some of these people that are
involved in the Kauai watch, and let's just sit back
and have a good time. And even with the team's involved,
it's with the Raptors and the Lakers, it's not as

(07:22):
it's not as much about winning, I think, as it
is not losing. Where where the Clippers. You know, we
were going back and forth about this yesterday and and
like who needs Kauai the most and who really needs him.
But it's also of of when you're when you're a
fan of Alabama football or now Clemson football, the winds

(07:44):
aren't as exciting as they were five or ten years ago.
Clemson five years ago, ten years ago, Alabama. It's just
making sure that you don't embarrass yourself if you win
a title that's expected. You just don't want the worst
case scenario. And I almost think, like with the especially
with the Lakers, of like, yeah, I'd be nice to

(08:05):
have him, but they don't want to fall on their
you know, flat on their face and saying, oh, we
missed out on another big free agent. How is this
going to look? Listen, what if this happens? If you're like,
talk about a blow to the ego? What if the
great Magic Johnson, the great Lebron James, the potentially all
time great Anthony Davis, the Lakers brand, the city of

(08:28):
Los Angeles, the Laker organization, Laker Nation. What if they
lost out on the Kauai sweepstakes to the guy who
started Degrassy Junior High. Honest to god, Like you talk
about a kick in the nuts like that is that's
a blow to the ego. So they're so pot committed
the Lakers in this whole scenario, They've got to get

(08:50):
it done somehow, someway. The Lakers have to get this done.
They've got to figure out a way to get it done,
because it's gonna be egg on their face and they're
gonna be It's a reminder for however long Kauai is
in the league that that's why we didn't do this,
because that guy chose the kid from Degrassi. He was
a better salesman than we were. It is such a
it's such a a not lose scenario instead of a

(09:13):
win scenario. It really really is, because there isn't it's
not going to you already got Anthony Davis, first of all,
but your whole plan is developed, this super team, and
it doesn't fall out. I do think I and I
take that back because I do think it's very important
for the for the Raptors to get him, and that's
where I think he's gonna go back. It would feel
like a lost but you do a bit of the
cushion you talked about this yesterday of winning that title.

(09:34):
You know, like like that's there for you, but for
the Lakers, it's I mean, man, it's the fear of
what's gonna happen if you don't get him, rather than
the excitement of what's going to happen when you have
him or if you have them. Because there's also a
question of how it's actually going to work with the Lakers,
but none of that is really even being spoken about,

(09:54):
because you're like, oh, we got we got four really
good players, and also here's here's you better hope that details.
And I know the Lakers are bad at this, and
we've seen some stuff come out as far as the
Raptors approach and their presentation. If you're one of those
teams and you don't land them, and let's just go
over to the Raptors. If the Raptors don't land Kauai
Leonard and he chooses to go to the Lakers or

(10:14):
the Clippers. Anytime you go to pitch a free agent
or if somebody else's contract comes up and they're thinking
about going somewhere else, you know exactly where they're going. Well, hey,
you offered Kauai all this, What about me? I mean,
I heard the stories you you offered him a part
of your record deal. You've offered him part of this
own training staff could place A sixty out of eighty

(10:35):
two games. Uh, am I gonna get the same treatment? Now, okay,
well I'm out of here. Clearly he's more important than me.
So now all the details are out. So if you
lose out, you are all. You're literally all in, which
means if you lose out, the details of all your
bets that you place and everything you put in the
middle of the table is gonna be released, and people
are gonna find out, and soon free agents are gonna

(10:56):
come knocking on the door saying, am I gonna get
the same treatment, the same stuff you for Kawhi Leonard
not different story. Hello, Hello, and they're gone, they're out.
O U C l A. That's how much you want
to pay John calip Her, even though he's yeah, perfect, yeah,
and now oh you've got all this sort of this
is all you want to offer me. But like when
the story came out to where Alabama boosters were like,

(11:18):
we paid off Nick Saban's house, All right, well congratulations.
No matter what you do moving forward, it's never gonna
be enough because now he doesn't even have house payments.
Nick Saban has no more house payments because you guys
have paid off his property. Amazing. Today's that Gottlieb Show
has brought to you by Farmers. At Farmers, we've seen
almost everything, so we know how to cover almost anything.

(11:39):
When it's game time, have an experienced player to help
you stay ahead of the game. But they were experiencing
to play at Farmers dot Com. Are Farmers. He is
Dan Buyer. I am Jonas Knox. This is Fox Sports
Radio coming up next to here on fs ARE. There
is a situation in the NBA that you didn't think

(12:00):
was possible. The one team you didn't actually think it
end up liking. As it turns out, the tide has change.
I'll tell you who that is next year on fs ARE.
Be sure to catch live editions of the Doug dot
Leap Show weekdays at noon Eastern three pm Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart Radio app. He'st
Jonahs Knocks. That's Gien Ramos. I'm Dan Buyer sitting in

(12:22):
for Doug today on this day after fourth of July.
You guys have good fourts. Did you enjoy the celebrations? Yeah,
it's all right, nothing nothing too spectacular, not really big
into fireworks. The neighbors started lighting lighting off. I think
mortar bombs. It was like, I mean, like gigantic, huge fireworks.
And the older I get, the more those pissed me off.

(12:44):
They just pissed me off. It's like at some point,
like I almost ran outside with a steake knife because
I was like, why, what's what's the need for this?
Why are we still doing this? I went to a
a friend of a friend of ours, and we're about there.
There were twelve people in all, eleven grown adults and
one young child, grilled up twenty four hot dogs, twenty

(13:08):
chicken wings, and like loads of ribs, and like, we're
not talking about little hot dogs, We're talking about big
hot dogs. I didn't know what my ratio was of
what I should eat. You know, obviously you can have leftovers,
but but yeah, so I filled up on hot dogs,
chicken wings, and uh ribs something. What'd you wash them
down with? Uh? Some water in consoda? Yeah? No, they

(13:32):
didn't have mountain dew. But we want with another product? Yeah,
we won't name. Okay, it was it was It was
Coca cola, That's what it was. John, Yes, all right,
never mind, we want to know about your Fourth of July.
But that's all right, don't worry about it. The STU
gotlim shows brought to you by Lows. Do it right

(13:53):
to spruce up your outdoors By shopping Lows July fourth Savings,
You'll find great deals in store, like five bags of
premium mulch now for just ten dollars. Do it right
for less. Start with Low's vellet in store only through
July ten, while supplies last US only excludes Alaska and Hawaii. Um.
I really don't even care how John's uh j went.
He's on his table read right now for the John

(14:15):
Ramo so as things are are getting ready. He couldn't
care less. He couldn't care less, John, did you have
a good fourth? I did have a great fourth. More
for Lucas, who really enjoys the fourth of July, all right,
this kind of his holiday? All right. By the way,
everybody just tuning in, who has no idea who Lucas is?
You're not referring to the movie from the eighties. Is

(14:36):
John Ramos his son? Yes, Lucas is seven, and he
wanted to light fireworks, and I said go ahead. By
the way, Lucas named after Lucas Matissa, the Argentinian boxer.
That's right. I love boxing, and I told him Susanna
wasn't into it, but I said, you know what, why
not good? There's a reason for everything. And then in

(15:00):
the new Born you've settled on a name coming in
a couple of weeks, we have not We have about
seventy five we've cut down to and uh, we'll probably
cut it down to fifty within the week. Thanos has
made the cuts? Is there ramas this? Uh? This NBA
off season has had a bunch of twists and turns,

(15:22):
whether it be Kevin Durant going to Brooklyn, Kyrie Iring
going to Brooklyn, Kawhi Leonards still his decision still up
in the air. But what I find fascinat again, And
I'll just start out with this because with the Golden
State Warriors, the Golden State Warriors are now a team
that that I I have not rooted for for the

(15:43):
last couple of years. And it's funny because it's not
that you've rooted for them. You just don't have a
disdain for them. You don't have a dislike of them.
And I think that there are more of you than
there are of me, and you think there are more
of me than there are of you. When it comes
to the Golden State Warriors, and maybe I guess you
just always look. You always see the opposite of what
your opinion, Like those tweets, the tweets that when people

(16:06):
disagree with me. I always noticed those more than the
ones and when they do agree with me. So maybe
I'm just not seeing that other people are like me
and they are not bothered by it. And I see
more that people are I don't know fatigue is the
right warrior, but they're just kind of over the Golden
State Warriors the way they play, And so I see
the hate towards the Warriors more so than I see
the law. I what I what I don't like is

(16:27):
and and I didn't want them to win, and I
didn't like when Kevin Durant joined the team. I just
also just I don't like the let's appreciate them because
I've always just I think that's so lame. Like we've
never done that in sports. Have you seen that on
Twitter Day? We've never We've never done that with the
Bulls when they were like, I didn't want Michael Jordan's
win any of the six titles I rooted for the

(16:49):
Lakers Bulls was whatever, but rooting for the Blazers, rooted
for the Sonics, you know, rooted for the Jazz and
the two years rooted for the Sons. Those never rooted
from Michael Jordan's and the Bulls to win an NBA
title or win another NBA title. And I was basically
the same way with the Golden State Warriors. But now
considering what has happened with the Warriors, the way that

(17:10):
we have counted them out, the way that their team
is in their their their core of players who stayed together,
but now we'll go through adversity. You look at them
now is almost a sentimental figure. And if they don't
win the NBA title next season, I think that there's
a really, really good chance that everybody would like to
see the band get back together for one more time.

(17:32):
And we've seen this with Tiger Woods. We see this
with with with Kobe Bryant. Did this last game? I
remember we were doing shows all of a sudden. You
may have hated Kobe or just like Kobe for all
those years, but you want to see that one last
glimpse of glory. And I think that's what we're going
to get with the Golden State Warriors. Now that Kevin
Durant has left, Clay Thompson's got his knee injury, Andrea

(17:52):
goodalas moved on. I know they brought in D'Angelo Russell,
but the I think the narrative on the Warriors have
turned for the simple fact of I think now people
want to know, Okay, is there one last run you
know in them to do it? Can they do this again?
And I don't think that's something that we have seen
with the Warriors as of Lakes. I've just I've not

(18:13):
been a fan, But now I'm almost wondering, like, Okay,
what I'd rather see a Lakers team or or a
Warrior's team win the title next season with how this
offseason played out of like, you know what, the better
story maybe at the Warriors made a run because the
first time we've seen them at a disadvantage in a
half decade, because they they've always had the advantage seemingly
um even though if you just go back to how

(18:33):
they came in the league, how they entered into the league,
nobody was the first first number one overall pick um
Steph Curry slid, Clay Thompson slid, Draymond Green was taken
in the second round, they had a lot of reclamation
projects on the team to fill up their bench and
their roster. And so now you've got Steph Curry who
seemingly is going to go at it alone because he

(18:55):
doesn't have Clay Thompson, he doesn't have Kevin Durant. You've
got Clay Thompson who blew his knee out and then
came out and shot free throws. Like the whole the
whole look of the team was different because as you
watch them in that in the finals against the Raptors,
they were really laboring, Like even the games that they won,
it took everything to win those games, and and whatever

(19:17):
they want to call championship hard or championship pedigree. I
was more impressed with the games that the Warriors won
than the games that the Raptors won in that series,
just the way they were able to do it, because
you knew they were so compromised going into that look.
Pookie Cousins wasn't. Steph Curry looked banged up at times.

(19:37):
This is the back end of a long run, when
you're playing extra games. Draymond Green had to get himself
back in shape during the season because he started off
the year injured and banged up. So yeah, I do
think there's gonna be a little bit of you know what,
look at the old dog out there still giving it ago. Yeah,
and we don't get it. We don't get it as
much in the NFL or in the NBA. Like I

(19:59):
look at the and I felt and I look at
the Patriots as a team that you still can't like,
even though it seems that they're at a disadvantage. But
when you look at when you look at the Patriots
from Afar and you see what the Chiefs have or
what the Chargers have or what the Houston Texans have,
and you say, when you're when you're grasping everything as

(20:20):
a whole. Just in the a f C, you're like, wow,
they you know, there's a lot of good teams out there.
But if you put whatever team on the field against
the Patriots, the Patriots are going to figure out a
way more times than not to beat that team. And
that's where, even though that they are at that maybe
at a disadvantage where you don't have Gronk playing because

(20:40):
he's hurting the Super Bowl like they did against the Falcons,
you're still not. Man, I hope they can do it
again because they've been there every single time. There hasn't
been a narrative that has changed outside of Tom Brady
blowing of his a c L you know, ten years ago.
So like everything is stayed constant. So you've never had
a break with being like, you know what, Patriots do it,

(21:01):
do it again. Everybody's just kind of sick of them.
I think with the Warriors, with the narrative changing and
them losing the caliber of player like Kevin Durant, then
you're like, all right, yeah, let's see it. You just
you wouldn't get that with the National foot See, I'm
not sick of seeing the Patriots when I don't know,
and and this is just more of a when somebody, hey, Dan,
don't hate congratulate no fear like I mean, that's just

(21:24):
like the back of a no Fear shirt. But I'm
always when somebody can do something that I can't, I'm
always in off. It's why I watched the Cooking Channel, okay,
or or Food Network. I don't I have no idea
how to cook. I'm terrible. I don't know how to barbecue.
I don't know how to do any of it. It's
never been something like art I don't know how to draw.

(21:46):
Like when I was a little kid, I could always write.
I could write poetry published by the way of awards.
Never mind that, but I could always like right, I
could always um poetriot. I was always really good at
But when it came to drawing, I could remember being
a little kid and the teachers couldn't figure out in
kindergarten why I couldn't color inside the lines. And I said,

(22:06):
I don't know. I don't What do you want to do?
You want to try it with my feet? What do
you want me to do? I don't know. I just
can't do it. I'm bad at it. I don't know
how to draw. It's not my thing. So when I
see somebody that can do something that I can't do,
I'm an awe of I. I don't know how like
I could. I would rather watch you play golf than
go golf myself, because I'm atrocious at golf. But you're

(22:30):
good at it, and I could sit there and watch
you play and go all right, this, I admire the
craft there, the skill set. Well, I'm glad you brought
up cooking, because the only thing that I hate more
than the Patriots and Warriors are kids cooking shows, kids
cooking out here? I'm sorry. If you can make it
be Wellington and you're eleven, I am not impressed. Yeah, cool,
get a life and go ride a bike someone. Seriously,

(22:54):
that's that's worse than starting your kids out and too
many sports when they're young. Helicopter parents. It's one thing
to be a helicopter parents when you're shooting hoops or
like playing baseball outside, you're getting some sun, you're one
with nature. But when you're stuck over a croc pot
because your mom and dad have this goal that you're
going to have a diner's drive throughs and dives or
whatever it's called later on in life, get a grip.

(23:17):
They should be locked. Six months in jail, just like that.
Six months in jail for parents who make their kids cook,
six months in jail. Tonight's Chop Junior Final Harper against
Colton as your buddy Mike Nor says, click click see,
and it's not gonna serve them any good there. When
they get to high school, they're gonna meet a nice

(23:38):
gal and they're gonna have a conversation and she's gonna say, so,
what do you like to do? B l T s. Hello, Hello,
try co man, I make my own fish sticks. Why
I remember this? This uh place in the mall? This
guy that worked I worked at a radio station in Charleston,

(23:59):
South Carolina. There was a place in North Charleston, Maud,
you know what it's called. There's a restaurant there that
he worked at. And he kept telling us about how
great this restaurant was, and my coast were like, why
is it so great? He goes they make their own ketchup?
Remember looking at him, going, why why don't you just
go buy Hines? Why do you need to waste your

(24:21):
time making ketchup? You if they sell it at seven eleven?
Why making it? I don't understand. Don't make any sense.
Oh with their frozen fries. John Robbo's by the way,
my seven year old son Lucas. We're making some su
Flay tonight, Sioux Fla Fridays. There's your bit John, there's
other John sue Flay Fridays. Here's Tristan's wreck of lamb.

(24:46):
Shut up? Oh man, Uh sorry, Jackson, you've been chopped. Hi.
My name's Micah, and I made pot brownies. Good Mica,
it's good. Our neighbor bring stuff over all the time.
Those kids are awesome, but it's about one in five
of something that's gonna hit that they you know, make us.
I'm good with that. You know, the brownies they had

(25:08):
last time weren't pop brownies. They were really good. So hey,
one in five is good with me. Everything doesn't have
to be amazing. But are you willing to be critical?
Will you tell them the food stinks? Because yeah, I
tell the in laws all the time, and and they
look their Mexican which is probably a note to do,
but I I've straight told them to their face these
tacos are terrible, like terrible, like either either figure it

(25:30):
out or don't bother next time. It's nothing wrong they
You gotta be honest. Sometimes you gotta be brutally honest.
It's constructive criticism. It's nothing wrong with that, all right.
Dan Buyer Jonas knocks in for Doug Gottlieb here on
Fox Sports Radio. Coming up next, Um, the NFL and
college football are back, well kind of. We will explain
why that is and why we want it. That's coming

(25:50):
up next. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk
lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at
Fox Sports radio dot Com and within the I Heart
Radio app search f s R to listen live. It
is the Duck Gollip Show on Fox Sports Radio. He's
Jonas Knocks. That's Gean Ramos. I'm Dan Buyer sitting in
for Doug today. Glad to have you with us as

(26:11):
we are hanging out on this Friday, the day after
the fourth of July, and there's been so much basketball talk,
but a lot of the basketball news happened a week ago.
And as Isaac just played audio of an airplane carrying
Kawhi Leonard Jesus, that tells you how much we need
the football season to be here. Now, this is this

(26:31):
is something that we started yesterday. We are going to
continue it today. The reasons that make us want the
NFL and college football back now. Yesterday I brought up
is this good for baseball? Is this that topic? That's
why we need football back. So we don't have people
saying all these other runs are they good for baseball?

(26:53):
Is it good for baseball? Is netting good for baseball?
Is uh is the home run d be good for baseball?
Or strike out is good for baseball? That has gone. Also,
you had NBA free agency right yeah. Yeah, that's why
we need it, because it keeps going on. I had
the branch off of that NBA Summer League. I'm I'm
no interest whatsoever in the NBA Summer League. Yeah, I don't.

(27:16):
I I don't. Look the Bucks are playing right now,
and I do not care. I wish now summer leagues
in Vegas again, right, Yeah, Like, I just wish some
of these reporters and insiders would come out and just
be honest and say, we just wanted to go to Vegas.
We don't really give a crap about any of these guys.
We just wanted to go to Vegas. There's other roll
with it. Just say it. It's why. It's why more

(27:38):
media members seem to venture out to the Super Bowls
that are in Miami as opposed to Minnesota. You know,
like it just there's a reason for it. Um, here's
the other one, Dan, this is going to be near
and dear to your heart. Another reason we need a
football back fantasy football. Look, we're approaching draft time, Dan,
We're approaching draft time. I think fantasy football gives people

(27:58):
some interest. They've a dog in the fight, no matter what,
whether you're playing a daily league or a season long tournament.
There's money involved. Fantasy football has revolutionized the way that
we watch the NFL. I think we need a back
big time. I've already ranked my quarterbacks for the upcoming season,
and I have Kyler Murray way higher than I think

(28:19):
other people do. Actually, Kyler Murray higher than Drew Brees
right now? Yes, yes, okay, now that's a fair ranking.
And there's gonna be people out there in New Orleans. Well,
what do you talk about? Man? You guys are after kid.
It's just like those officials. Do you see some of
those balls Drew Brees is throwing Layton games. Uh, Like
he's showing age, whether anybody wants to acknowledge it or not. Yeah,

(28:42):
And the and the True Saints vic like the the
the real chances where they had to win Super Bowls.
It was really based on the running game and and
and it was a good mix of what you had.
And I do think that I don't know if Arizona
is gonna be able to stop people, because I just
don't know how the offense is going to work, But
whether they follow through with Cliff Kingsberry's air raid offense

(29:04):
and it works, then Kyler Murray is getting stats or
if it doesn't work, they're now twenty eight to nothing
and then he's gonna get garbage time stats that will
help you either way. So at some point that's why
I like Kyler Murray. Why why I miss football? I'll
branch off on another thing with the NBA bad Kauai jokes. Goodness, Yeah,

(29:27):
the the Kauai Leonard jokes on Twitter over these last
few days need to go. I may have made a
bigger deal about my pool yesterday, okay, then some of
these jokes, but this is ongoing from everyone. I get
that everything's got a shelf life, but there are people
who just do not want to give up on making
Kawai Leonard jokes on Twitter. So if the NFL was here,

(29:49):
we wouldn't have to worry about those stupid jokes. So
for you guys out there making those Kawai jokes, just
do your do us a favor and keep quiet. I
don't find puns. I don't mind puns. I like funds.
I like puns, so I'm fine with puns um, but
actual jokes, yeah, between all right, But I have a

(30:11):
question for you, dan uh kawahy do we keep doing
the John rama I've got another one, Dan, I have
about lesson Leonard. How about national love for small markets?
All right? Because you know, you know, when Tuscaloosa is
important during college football season, all right, Columbus Ohio during

(30:31):
college football season. Nobody's no offense to Columbus, Ohio. I
love Columbus. The Dublin area was out there last year. Beautiful,
beautiful place. But nobody gives a crap about the Blue Jackets.
I'm sorry, and that's just a fact, the cous But
Columbus is all Ohio State and arbor the same way.
I just think it's national love for those smaller markets,

(30:52):
those college towns. Now it should be noted just because
this is the geography of me. Columbus is the biggest
city in Ohio. It'sigger than Cleveland, Biger, than Cincinnati. But
maybe the one team I get what you mean, you know,
with the Madison's of the world. Fine, yeah, fine, Columbia,
South Carolina, Yes, Athens, Georgia. Yes. Like those small markets
I think get a little bit of love during the

(31:13):
football season. At other times during the year, maybe they
don't get as much love nationally. I can't wait for
the NFL because I was slipping channels the other night
and on one of the ESPN stations, you know what
I saw Top twenty games. Guess what was number sixteen?
John Ramas, you want to take a guess college hoops
the sixteenth best game of last season. I'm gonna go

(31:34):
out in a limit say maybe you say Oregon. That's
a good guys, Hawaiian, Duquesne it was, it was. Those
were both really good guesses, but they were incorrect. TCU
at k State, Oh yeah, sorry, honey, Purple on Purple
crime going on right now on ESPN. You remember when

(31:56):
I watched this in January, we're watching oh TC They
didn't make the tournament. No, they didn't, case they did,
they were out early. But yeah, sorry, and that was
number who says tense not enough, Let's do twenty good? Uh?
But at what point do you think they were like
it's seventeen and just said, well, we can't do seventeen.

(32:16):
That doesn't sound right. Can we just squeeze three more
in here? Like? Can somebody find three more games? Like?
Nobody out perfect? I have another one, Dann. This is
why we need the NFL slash college football back for
the Tony Romo ball washing I mean, nobody gets a
kick out of out of the washing of balls for

(32:38):
Tony Romo than I do during the football season, where
it is just, mom my god, how did he know
that play was coming up? Because he's a former quarterback
and any quarterback who played in the NFL could also
do the same thing, But they're not doing it because
they realize you don't want to have that be your crutch,
because the further you get away from the game, the
less likely you're going to recognize those plays. Fast forward

(33:00):
to four years from now, Tony Romo was gonna swear
to God that there's a play action pass coming up next,
and it's a punt formation. Okay, the game changes and
you can't rely on that as your go to But
I just I love the idea that people are so
fooled by this, and because Tony Romo is doing it
all of a sudden, it's it's magic. What God, he

(33:21):
really knows his stuff. He should be a coach. Get
out of here with the crap. But I get such
a kick out of seeing the feedback on it that
I can't wait to watch it again. There it is
just a few more reasons why we need the NFL
and college football back because of all this is going on.
If you've got any submitted to us, I'm at Dan
Buyer on Fox, get Jonas at the Jonas Knocks on Twitter,

(33:41):
and get John at J. S. Ramos zero six. He
is Dan Buyer and I'm Jonas Knocks is his Fox
Sports Radio and we're going to dive back into this
right there a bit later on the show and maybe
if the submissions are good enough, and if you follow us,
we'll read them. Okay. And by the way, those of
you complaining, it's either that or tracking Kawai's playing, all right,
So so get out of here with that alright. Coming

(34:02):
up next year on Fox Sports Radio, Dan and I
are going to see into the future. We're going to
see into the future and tell you what is actually happening.
Find out how next on Fox Sports Radio. He's Jonas Knocks,
I'm Dan Buyer. John Ramos is here as well, hanging
out sitting in for Doug today, who is on the
Herd for Colin Cowherd. Glad to have you with us.
You can always listen to the show on my Heart

(34:24):
radio app and Fox spitch radio dot com and if
you ever miss it, that's where you can download the
show as well. Let's bring in our good friend Isaac
Glow and Ground for some fun. This is game time
on the Doug Gottlieb Show. Game Time today is brought
to you by Little Caesar's, where you can get a large,
extra most best dis stuffed cross Pepperoni pizza for only

(34:45):
nine dollars and only a Little Caesar's plus tax were
applicable available at participating locations. What's up, Isaac, Hey, Dan
and Jonas. Let's see what we got today. Psychic Yes,
all right, psychic yeah, let's start in the NFL. Psychics.
Psychic Dalla a Cowboys pass rusher Randy Gregory currently banned
indefinitely by the NFL for another violation of their substance

(35:07):
abuse policy, but the Dallas Morning News reports he is
going to petition the NFL for reinstatement. Psychics, Will we
see Randy Gregory played for the Cowboys this season? M
I will say, no, Okay, that's what you see. I
will go with that. Sure, there seems to be some Yeah,

(35:29):
I'll go with you. I don't see it. I have
a question. Why is Josh Gore? What's happening with Josh Gordon.
Does anybody know what's happening? Like he's still practicing and
throwing with Tom Brady. There's no word if if he's
suspended indefinitely or if he's just out of the league.
How many times does that guy have to get caught
with weed or something else before the NFL goes? I

(35:50):
guess he canna outlive this whole thing like it by
the time he comes back, Weed's gonna be okay in
the NFL. I'd defer to John Robbos. I haven't even
I haven't even thought of Josh Gordon. It's amazing I
saw that, But yeah, I think he'll play again. Alright, Psychics,
let's move on to the other football. Huge Sunday for

(36:14):
soccer in the United States on Fox at eleven Eastern,
it's the Women's World Cup final between Team USA and
the Netherlands. But then at nine pm Eastern six Pacific,
it's the USA men's soccer team in the Gold Cup
final against Mexico. Psychics, Will the Team USA s win
both the Women's World Cup and the Gold Cup on Sunday? Dan,

(36:38):
you're the soccer guy. I'll let you look at Yeah,
I don't think that the Cup runneth over unless see
one title going and that would be to the United
States women. I agreed, and I see the same thing.
Looking at that crystal ball, I see the same exact thing.
I think that the women are going to win the
World Cup, and then I think the men are going
to get san blasted later on of by any Mexican

(37:00):
national team. Is what I think. And finally, Kauai Leonard
and feel free to get creative here psychics. When will
the announcement be made and how will the news break?
Not what is the announcement, but when will it break
and how will it break? We should have done this

(37:21):
for like a baby pool, instead of guessing where when
John's baby arrives. When Kauhi Leonard ends up making his decision, John,
you're pregnant two months? Good? Not even showing. I think.
I think Hawaii's decision comes down on Saturday night, okay,
at eleven oh four Eastern time. I think that Kauai's

(37:44):
decision will happen between Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning around
the leven o'clock. I'm surprised didn't chime five pm. Just
like the prices right by the way, and the price

(38:06):
is right. People still have no idea when they're winning
or losing. There's a real problem with people running up
on stage when they haven't even been close. Don't you
know what the other person bid, your stupid idiot like
I was five thousand dollars by one. No, you didn't,
so you've just ripped kids cooking shows and the Prices
right now. I love the Prices Right, I just don't

(38:27):
like the contestants that don't know how the Prices Right
is played. There are many of us that do understand,
and John Ramos is here as well. Glad to have
you with us on this Friday. John Ramos will be
put to the test coming up at the bottom of
the hour. You also have the John Ramos Show coming
up a little bit later on. And still waiting on
the decision from one Kauai Leonard is the Doug Gottlip Show.

(38:49):
Today is brought to you by Farmers. At Farmers, we've
seen almost everything, so we know how to cover almost anything.
When it's game time, have an experienced player to help
you stay ahead of the game, but their experience into
play at Farmers dot Com are still waiting on that decision.
Jonas Yea, Chris Carter of Fox Sports one of the

(39:09):
first things First with Nick Wright sent out the following
a short time ago, Dan hashtag Kauai update. First of all, Okay,
I have a question, Kauai. Do we need a hashtag? Huh?
What I mean? I'll do this all day. Um, nobody
got my lesson, Leonard, Let's lesson learned? So John looked

(39:31):
at me like I was Lucas asking for Canton Lake.
He uh so, Chris Carter says, after looking like we
would find out today, we will not. Kauai is still
undecided and is not going to finalize his decision today. Also,
contrary to at the reports, Kauai is not interested in
signing a one or two year deal. When he signed,

(39:51):
it will be a long term contract. So there's that.
Dan Chris Bruce, start of the Odd Couple of Year
on Fox Sports Radios, also said that Kauai, with his
in three history, maybe looking at something that is more
guaranteed money for him in the future. But if you
were to set a one year deal and then got
your five year contract, you would even be getting more money.

(40:13):
If he risk what if he just retires, he just
comes out and says, you know what, like you know,
I just like, I've done it all. I want a
couple of championships. I've got money. I'm not really into
all this. Uh I did this was just my test
to see how ridiculous all of you are that cover
the NBA. I'm out of here, and he just retires.
John Ramos. I think I asked a question that everybody
in supports radio asks. That's what my job is. What

(40:35):
is the time frame? Like, does he have to give
an answer by a certain day or it can last
the whole start? I don't I personal don't know. Is
there like an end date for him to give an answer? No,
but if you're a team that needs to set aside
thirty two million dollars for a guy, you would kind
of like to know. So he really has no have
to fill out their team, you know, So like if
he's gonna wait till week four of the NFL season,

(40:59):
you know the Lakers are running you and Roberts there.
I mean, I don't know, I don't think. I don't
think he's intentionally pulling a Dallas Kaikol to where all
of a sudden he's just gonna appear five weeks into
the Major League Baseball season. Yeah, I think I think
he'll have an answer, Um and Dan, I actually have
a prediction on this. I think Kauai is going to
have an answer sometime this year. There was a tweet

(41:22):
and I wanted I and I apologize to the person
that sent it out. They probably stole it from somebody else.
They did say that, like when I went to San
Diego State, they weren't sued to like shut up for
the first week of classes if he was going to
be there. I don't know how much of a joke
it was, but it just shows to you know, how
much just of how he operates and how they operate

(41:44):
as a unit, him and his uncle and the people
around him. Here's what I do know. If it ever
takes me this long to decide on something, whatever I
decide on, I'm not totally thrilled with because no matter what,
if it takes you this long to figure out where
you want to play, in the back of your mind,
you're always gonna think, if you're this indecisive, God, did

(42:04):
I make the wrong choice? Yeah, you know, it's funny
because I was thinking last night kind of about the
same thing of like, you know, the longer this goes
what does it mean? Why are why are to l
A teams still in it? This is about being close
to home. It would just be those two teams, right,
but Toronto is Toronto is still in it because of
what he did there. Well, the easiest thing for me

(42:27):
to decipher, I think, was if you were to play
in l A, which one would you rather go to?
Like that's because they're more, they're they're similar, where like
locale is taken out of it. You could be like,
you could do it. You could do the checklist that
you see on any you know, sports TV show, uh,
where you would have quarterback, running back, wide receiver in

(42:48):
the NFL, you could be like, okay, front office, who's
got the check Clippers or Lakers Clippers check head coach
Doc Rivers or Frank Vogel uh, teammates. You could do
all of those things and decide which one is better
and then use the winner of that one to go
against Toronto. That's I just I didn't understand why there

(43:10):
were two teams from l A when those are the
easiest ways to the cipher of which one do you
or not want to play with? Yeah, and and there's
a salary cap, so it's not like you're waiting for
somebody to up the price. You know what you're getting
in every scenario, You're getting the max from Toronto. You're
getting the max from the Clippers and the max from
the Lakers. So if that's taken out of the equation

(43:30):
and you've already done process of elimination and you've eliminated
twenty seven other teams in the NBA, why is it
taking so long? Like what what is the sticking point here?
And I just think if if it's the longer, the
longer this goes, I feel like the better it is
for Toronto, Like I just think. And so I just

(43:51):
feel like, if you're Toronto, you've gotta be feeling good
about things because at least, you know, he didn't just
say no, I don't want to live in Canada. Well,
clearly they're an option, or else he wouldn't be having this,
And what if he just Look, if you're this indecisive,
here's what you do, all right, Like you brought up
the the trying to figure out where you want to
go to eat, going to a different restaurant. Look, sometimes

(44:12):
you just gotta you gotta dabbled a little bit of everything,
so you go get a drink at one and appetizer
the other, and then get dinner in the and deserted
the other one. So if you're Kauai, you sign a
one year deal to go back to Toronto, and then
a one year deal after that to the Clippers, and
then you finish your carew with the Lakers. Done. Problem solve.
You get all three. I have been known to get
fries from one place and then like a chicken sandwich.

(44:35):
Totally reasonable. I'm not there. There are certain places that
just the fries don't add up, like Carl's Jr. When
you change your fry recipes several years ago, you kind
of crossed yourself off the fry list. Nobody wants to
go to carl Do you think anybody that gets a
burger and fries at Carl's Jr. Eats the fries and
goes God, that hit the spot. No, they're dumping those

(44:57):
out to the seagulls. There's a bunch of seagulls by
the dumb stir there, which you're basically rats with wings.
They're dumping it out for the seagulls, and then they're
going over to McDonald's and getting fries from there. My
favorite thing about Carl's Jr. Slash Hardies, Yeah, is when
you get Chris cut fries, are there four or five? Like,
like I love the Chris Cut fries, But when you're

(45:18):
driving and you reach in and you're like, I've only
had four hawk them, there are no more left, Like
there's one really big one and you savor that one,
and then you realize that you just spent two nine
for four Chris cut potatoes. And if you ask them, hey,
how many Chris cut fries come in that box? It's
about us of five ounces someone I asked. Okay, not

(45:40):
what I asked, because it could be five ounces of
of vomit. Okay, I want to know how many individual
Chris Cut fries come in the box. And they're not
willing to have that conversation with you. It's a scam,
a little drive through scam. Are we on the air? Yeah?
I like you use when we were talking about the
restaurant thing the other day, as you end up falling
back on what you know because the flip side of

(46:02):
that is going to somewhere where you're paying a little
bit more and you took a risk and then you
are unsatisfied, like there's nothing worse than then figuring out
the bill that maybe you paid a little bit more
and the food didn't live up to it, and you
just had an overall bad experience. And that is and

(46:23):
and and that's I think that's where a lot of
decisions go when you're I'm probably more conservative on that
side of not willing to take risks. That's where I
think Kauai where you would have your buyer's remorse. I
would rather just fall back and go somewhere I know,
than feeling burned and going somewhere where I didn't know,
and then the food wasn't as good and then I
feel like it was a waste. So let me ask

(46:43):
you this, who booze him the most? Right? So, if
he goes to San Antonio, Okay, if he stays in Toronto,
which fan base booze him the most? The Clippers or
the Lakers? I would say. I would say the Lakers.
I would agree. I think they're going to be bothered. Uh,

(47:04):
They're they're going to look at this as a slight
that how dare you I thought you were a Laker fan,
You're not a true Laker. If you are a true Laker,
you'd be here and and instead you chose a different country.
So I think Laker fans are gonna be pretty upset
about granted they would have to show up for the
starting lineup announcements. Listen. I remember Game three of the

(47:27):
OH eight NBA Finals, and I thought it was a
preseason game because it started at five o'clock, so it
was early. And this was right after all the heels
of being at two games in Boston, and I was
I was shocked to hear the lack of electricity in
that arena at Tippa. Now, in all fairness, and look,
they were probably outside. And uh. And if a guy

(47:49):
walks up to your car and and he's got a
T shirt that says buy a Laker shirt and the
kay is missing on the Lakers, you've got to have
that shirt. Dan, It's ten bucks, it's in a box.
Trust the guy know, make the buy Isaac Lowing Cron
at the anchor desk. Dan, I was covering that exact
same game. I was there to Game three of the
O eight Finals, and what I remember is the silence

(48:11):
was so blatant that midway through the first quarter, they
started playing that canned chant over the p A system
put your hands together and it was crickets. Uh. You
know what else I remember about that? I actually introduced
myself to Isaac during that final series game. Probably doesn't remember,

(48:32):
but I'm afraid sorry, sorry, big doesn't remember. And I
remember the one who was a national TV yesterday. By
the way, one of the affiliates or one of the
news stations, wrote d a Buyer on Fox. I love that. Yeah,

(48:57):
it's like the brats, like the bears fire. By the way,
does Isaac Glowing Crown follow you on Twitter? Um? I do?
Actually probably all right, let me let's just go ahead
and see if isaaclow Cran I don't. I don't, I
don't follow you. No, does not follow me? Why would he?

(49:17):
Why would he following? I mean he's following uh my
morning routine on Twitter, but he's not following me. Why
would he? I mean, he's following uh, Julio Morataya, but
he's not following me. He's following l A earthquakes, but
he's not following me. So why why would he? Screw you? Isaac?

(49:38):
Maybe I'm following you on one of my many shadow accounts.
I love you shadow accounts. Keep it on the ailo.
Um so so we both agree that the Laker fans
are gonna be the most upset. Yes, behind this, Like
I still think he gets bood relentlessly in San Antonio.
But of those of the two who are left at

(49:59):
the altar, then this is that's who he gets. Yeah,
it's like that shows Sister Wives. You know, the guy
as a favorite one, you know, like the p Well
it's it's the guy and he's got four wives and
so but you know, like there's one that's like a
little bit more and I think the first one gets

(50:20):
a little bit more favoritism and then the younger. I
haven't seen it in a couple of years, but you
knew that some of them just we're kind of like,
you know, along for the ride, um, by the way,
to other people had multiple wives. You know, they are
John Ramos and David koresh is it not? Come on,

(50:41):
what's a little little Waco, Texas Joe? What's wrong with that?
Come on? I'm more rid of a John you know.
By the way, Linda, I'll call you later. But that's
how you know that as Suzanne's not listening, that John
went there with that. Uh if he looks down at
his phone in the next five minutes, you know that
he is there. She is Uh, Dan Buyer, Jonas Knox

(51:04):
uh in for Doug Gottlieb here on a Fox Sports Radio.
You can get Dan on Twitter at Dan Buyer on
Fox Uh coming up next to here on fs ARE
and NBA Champion. One of the somebody who's gonna tell
it like it is Dan. If there's anybody that's willing

applicable available at participating locations. Will check on the Big

and also in Atlanta for a double dough So you

(52:07):
got Big three action coming up on Saturday and Sunday.
Stephen Jackson is set to join us here on Fox
Sports Radio and then coming up at the bottom of
the hour, put John Ramos to the test Jonas in
a new game called World Cup, Gold Cup or Tin Color.
We'll just leave it at that, so John Ramos will

(52:28):
have that coming up at the bottom of the hour.
He always loves those off speed pitches we throw him
whenever we're filling him for Doug Gottlie. Yes, we like
to keep him in the in the dark for as
long as possible and then fill them in when it's
absolutely necessary. I will say this, by the way, we
have somebody who reached out to us who said, who

(52:50):
wants us to please continue to uncover the scams behind
fast food chains and other restaurants because we talked a
little bit about that. Unfortunately, Dan Um, you did not
get that tweet because to this person on Twitter, your
last name is spelled buy like a buyer. Buyer Beware
it is it is b E y e R, and

(53:12):
Dan is spelled with an end, the end, and there
there's a buyer, and there's it's like a four step
process to fill out my Twitter handle. It's Dan. Get
that right. Then you gotta figure out which way to
spell buyer, and then you got to add the fox.
I like like when when people give me a hard
time because I have the Jonas Knox or the however

(53:32):
you want us, I always say the for some reason.
Um listen, I have the other Jonas Knocks. You do, really,
I just don't remember how to log into it, and
I can't get Twitter. Okay. I don't want a blue checkmark,
to take the blue checkmark and stick it. I just
want to not have to put the in front of
my damn name on Twitter. That's all I want. I

(53:53):
just let me get back into what's mine. It's mine.
I had it years ago, and then I got rid
of it, and then I want it back and then
want to We have a bat. I have js Ramo
zero one, zero two, four, and zero five, and then
just despite him, I took six because I knew it

(54:15):
was his favorite number. J Ramo zero six swiped. Not
getting that one John not not gonna happen. By the way,
I don't know if you could tell my voice is
kind of waning. I was telling you guys earlier, my
wife likes to sleep with a fan on. It's not
full blast, but we're like three quarters of the way up.
Not only that, like the temperature still gets down on

(54:35):
the sixties at night, so all the windows are wide open.
It is like a freezer in our bedroom. And then
when I get under the covers, I sweat. So then
you take the covers off, you end up waking up
every ninety minutes. So and and for people out there
that don't understand that, the the idea of that, why
would that bother you? Dan? It's just a circular fan
that is in your face. What's the big deal? Tell

(54:57):
you what? Drive down the high rate highways, stick your
head out the window like a dog. And then afterwards,
try and recite the Star Spangled banner. Okay, and see
how your voice sounds. It's not gonna be okay. Why
do you think dogs don't talk, Dan, because their mouths
are always open. That's true. You guys don't know that.
I swear to God that's true. Prove me wrong, find
me and they can talk. That's a that's a very

(55:21):
good point by the way. The Big Three this weekend
is in Birmingham, Alabama, and Atlanta. If you miss that, yeah,
you can get tickets available at Big three dot com
slash tickets. Game games broadcast on CBS Sports. We hope
to catch up with Stephen Jackson at just three. Are
they playing at a Legion Field in Birmingham? They're gonna
play that whole outhouse a dump worst worst, worst stadium

(55:47):
I've ever been to. Easily the worst thing, you know,
I've ever been to, because it was just so bad,
so bad at a at a grand scale. It just
I mean, look when you're at a stadium and it's
a Owl game and it's a January First Bowl game,
and you go, you know what, I'm not actually working.
I'm gonna go get a beer from the from the
vendor over there. And you walk over and the beer

(56:10):
is yeah, can I get a bud light? No problem?
And they literally, uh, turn around and sitting in a
cardboard box with a trash bag so so it doesn't
wipe away the box and the residue doesn't get in
from the ice. It's just a bunch of beer on ice.
I started like what a I what are we doing?
Like it's being at an amish wedding. What's happening here?

(56:32):
Don't you have a refrigerating system somewhere in the building?
Like is do you have electricity anywhere? I love the
Old Soldier Field in Chicago, but and I had only
been there once for a game, but I was walking
down the tunnels to my seats was like walking in
a coal mine, I would think, because the walls were

(56:52):
like right on top of you. I have no idea
how you could get two single file lines. But it
was very not that that place was a dump that
it was very unique. It was a great setting, but
it was just so I just remember walking it was
kind of like old Fenway Park before they did it
was really tight, but this was like, I mean, if
you're claustrophobic, it's like you're going into an m R

(57:15):
I machine to get your to get to your seats. Also,
the Colosseum, the l A Colosseum, when you're sitting there,
you're basically sitting on somebody's shoulders, like you may as
well be playing chicken in a swimming pool, because you're
sitting on somebody's shoulders. At the l A Coliseum, and
this is what was brought up about a week ago,
I think with Doug when we were talking about stadiums
and being the steams, Like, do you count like going

(57:35):
to a game as being at that stadium? Because John said,
you went to a stadium, but you weren't there for
a game, So do you you count that. I was
in Chicago and uh, we passed drove by Wrigley Field,
that was And I said, I've been to Brigley fail
but not but not I haven't been inside. I just

(57:56):
it wasn't even baseball season. John, You you drive by
cemeteries all the time, doesn't mean you're dead. What do
you mean? Like, come on, I hadn't You didn't You
should have just gone in, John, just top the fence.
It was. It was closed, but we were there, and
I actually then we went to Komiskey, but it wasn't.
It was a new Kemiskey, not the old one. Here's

(58:17):
the thing about Wrigley Field that I think throws everybody
off when they first get there. You assume because it's
a stadium, Like I remember, like growing up, first stadium
I ever went to was Dodger Stadium, and I remember,
you come up around the corner, you go up stadium Way, which,
by the way, if you cannot take Stadium Way, go
that round all right, just whatever out it is. Just

(58:37):
if you gotta walk an extra five miles, just don't
don't bother a stadium way. But I remember coming up
around the corner and you you it's sort of, um,
it's this kind of I guess it's on a hill,
but sort of sunken into the hill or was they
called chebez ravine, right? Is that what they call? And
so you come up over the top and then you
see this giant stadium and it's just this wonder Like

(58:57):
in Pittsburgh come through the tunnel and you see Hines
Field and p NC Park and they're just they just
pop out. When you're in Chicago, you're literally in a neighborhood.
You make a left, some apartments, another right, there's McDonald's. Hey,
look over there all right behind me a giant stadium ball.
It's right in the middle of the neighborhood. It's very

(59:18):
well unique, so unique. The old County Stadium in Milwaukee
used to be a lot closer to uh the freeway. Uh,
And so you would come in if you're coming in
from say Madison, so you're driving west to east and
you're driving in and there was there was a cemetery
on a hill, but once you cleared that hill was
boomed the stadiums right there and it was just it

(59:39):
was it was massive. Now, Miller Park is a bit
set back, but having that that that excitement. It's one
of the thrills that I've always said of going to
games still that I get that I've been fortunate enough
to see a lot of cool events, is the first
moment you walk in and see the playing field or
the courts or you know, or if you're at a
at a ball game, to see the diamond, Like that's

(59:59):
excit It to me is walking through the tunnel and
seeing the field for the first time, whether whether it
be for a stadium that I've you know, never been to.
It's always different on TV than it is in real life, obviously,
but that thrill is I still get and the and
and there's all yeah and and to your point, when
it jumps out to you, when you see the for
the first time, when it jumps out to you, um,

(01:00:20):
the what ends up happening Like StubHub Center where the
where the Chargers play StubHub Center you've got the big
soccer field, and then over to the side there's these
tennis courts, and nobody really, I think, ever placed tennis
there anymore. They were built for tennis, but nobody, so
they turned into a boxing venue and it's like an
eight thousand seat place and you just you're kind of

(01:00:40):
walking up and then all of a sudden you look
over there and there's the ring right in the middle,
and every seat is a good seat. It's like, you
don't need the biggest venue in the world. I've never
been to the Jerry Dome. I've heard amazing things. I
don't need all that. Just make it to wear. Every
seat is a good seat, and I'm I'm good with
all that. Yeah, yeah, I I am all for that.
Sounds like Steven Jackson's gonna join us in just a
little bit on the Big Three. So the World Cup,

(01:01:02):
Gold Cup, Tin Cup is going to have to wait
until next hour, the hour after. Yeah, we'll do that.
We'll catch up with Stephen Jackson. Yeah, yeah, we'll do
it in our five here on Fox Sports Ready. Be
sure to catch live editions of The Doug Dot Leap
Show weekdays at noon Eastern three pm Pacific It is

(01:01:23):
the Doug got Leap Show here on Fox Sports Radio.
He's Jonas Knocks, that's John Ramos. I'm Dan Buyer sitting
in for Doug today. The The Big Three is continuing
now in its third season, eighteen cities. Over the eleven
weeks season, three games being played at each venue. It's
been a crazy rise for this league, which expanded the

(01:01:43):
twelve teams this season. Uh. Tons of Atlanta storylines this week.
Steven Jackson is gonna be playing there, Joe Johnson, Josh Smith,
Jason Terry All returning to Atlanta. We spent some time
there um now right right at the arena for for
the Super Bowl this past year. It should be a
great mimosphere in the A t L. Yeah. The weather
got uh increasingly better throughout the course of the week.

(01:02:05):
I remember getting off the off the plane, walking through
the airport. They say, yeah, the Uber station is outside
and no problem, and then you realize this jacket works
in California, not really really here in Atlanta. Freezing, freezing, my,
you know what's off? Dan. My favorite was when the
shuttle stopped at six Easter and my, my, my duties

(01:02:27):
were done at seven Eastern and then I that was.
That was That was great, you know that was that
was amazing. Way to go, Shuttle, way to go. Okay,
so we were gonna have Steven Jackson. We haven't heard
from Stephen Jackson, so hopefully we can catch up with
him at some point. Let's do our World Cup game.
Let's do it, all right, World Cup, Gold Cupper, Tin Cup. Jonas,

(01:02:52):
you want to lay the ground rules to John Romis.
So here's that works, John. We are going to give
you a name. That name is either going to be
somebody in the World Cup, somebody in the Gold Cup,
or somebody in the movie Tin Cup, which I haven't seen.
So this is gonna be good. Perfect. That opens up
all sorts of possibilities here, all right, good, all right, Daniel,

(01:03:16):
all right? Do you want to go first? You should?
I you go first? All right? John? The name David Sims.
Is that a World Cup, Women's World Cup player, a
Gold Cup player, or a character in Tin Cup. I'm
gonna say that is a it's a Gold Cup person.

(01:03:37):
That is incorrect. That would be Don Johnson's character in
Tin Cup. Sorry about that? John? Alright? Uh? Johnny ready? Yes,
diego Reyes World Cup, Gold Cup or tin Cup. I'm

(01:03:57):
gonna say we're gold Cup, correct, all right? Your job?
Ny back on track one for two, two, can go
two for three with a little desiree vanlintering sounds like
a World Cup to me. That is correct. Fired, he
is on fire, all right, Johnny. The song's on fire too,

(01:04:20):
by the way, Johnny ready, Yes, I am Roy McAboy.
I'm gonna say that's a character in Tin Cup. Oh
my god, the lead character. Okay, yeah, there we go.
Kevin Costner, Yes, that is correct. What about Kurt gold Cup,

(01:04:53):
World Cup or Tin Cup? Oh that's the name Kurt. Yeah,
I'm gonna say, I guess tin Cup. That is correct.
Richard Lineback played the character Kurt in Tin Cup. Are
you ready? John? Yes, Sam muise, I think you're trying

(01:05:19):
to throw me with the Sam. I'm gonna say it's
a World Cup. You're good, John? Because Sam is it
could be a woman's name as well? Well? Yeah, it
is said, could John? What about what is happening here?

(01:05:39):
I was? I told my dad to get some little
e F M d ps. My heart sounded waiting for
Steven Jacksons. Actual audio of my heart beating paging Dr
Jones Craig Standler. Okay, I think that's a golfer, and
I bet he was in a golf movie. I say

(01:06:00):
tin cup, that is correct? A k A. The Walrus
is alright, Johnny? You ready? Yes? This is a World Cup,
gold Cup or tin Cup a name and John has
to tell us which one it is from? You ready, John? Yes?
Jose Ah, I'm gonna say that the gold Cup. That

(01:06:33):
you're racist? Tin cup, John, You're racist? That is tin cup? John,
Johnny got a broaden the horizons Aaron Long, I'm gonna
go with world Cup. It's cold cup a r O

(01:06:55):
n Okay, that was another that one me all right,
here we go. Are you ready, Johnny? Yes, there we go.
Morgan Brian m hmm. I would think it might be
either tin Cup or Morgan. Right cheez. I'm gonna say

(01:07:20):
gold Cup, World Cup name. John's the Thailand of this
game when it comes to women's World Cup, John, why
don't you Why are you so uncomfortable saying it? Another name?
There could be a guy's name or a girls yes?
Wrong sex. Did you notice John take that sip of
tea when he got that one right? Though? It was

(01:07:42):
totally mocking one John, did take a sip of tea. Unbelievable,
Alexis Vega. I would say tin cup, no, World Cup,
gold Cup, Johnny, see you you double loss that one?

(01:08:06):
All right, John, We're ready, Tim reem, I'm gonna say
gold cup. That's well, yes, that's good, all right, John.
And finally one morn ago at least for me, okay,

(01:08:31):
and the music ended, Yes it did. I'm sorry, grandmother
with dog grant, I'm gonna say tin cups and a
mother with dog was a character and Tim Cutt tin
cup played by Sharon Costner. Oh my god, random mother
with dog? Oh my god. About guy at bar number two?

(01:09:03):
Oh man? Okay, alright? Uh Johnny you ready? Yes, world Cup,
gold Cup or tin cup? Are you ready? I am
ready yet? Isaac Longcron, I'm gonna say tin cup. That
is incorrect. He's an update anchor here. Hey, you can't

(01:09:30):
win them all, all right? In World Cup, Gold Cup,
tin Cup, or didn't show up? Stephen Jacks, Um, I'm
gonna say Stephen Jacks all right. Well, he's got a
big game coming up this week, and hopefully we can
catch up with him some other times. All right, Dan
Buyer Jonas knocks in for Doug Gottlieb here on Fox

(01:09:51):
Sports Radio. You can get Dan on Twitter at Dan
Buyer on Fox. Up next, we're going to have a conversation.
Somebody had some interesting things to say on these Fox
Sports Radio airwaves. Find out what they are next. On
fs are East Jonas Knock. That's Gen Ramo signed Dan
Buyer sitting in for Doug today. So glad to have

(01:10:14):
you with us. You can find us on Twitter. I'm
at Dan Buyer on Fox Jonas. They can get you
at at the Jonas Knock System. Of a down. You're
in laws, Dan Armenian. That is true, that is true.
My wife will bring it up. Um, I forget the name,
and I apologize. And I'm not that much of a
music junkie, but if I heard the name, I would

(01:10:34):
know exactly. Um, the most popular guy, Big Armenian. Yes, Surge,
Yes he was at your hutting right. Yes he was not.
He was not dot own Malaychian as the guitarist. He
was your wedding right. No, didn't make it, didn't make it.
Richard Blade was our j at the wedding. That's a

(01:10:56):
good wrestling name. That's Richard Blade. Very popular DJ especially
from the eighties. Does uh yeah, a little serious XM
stuff flashback lunch here in l A absolutely a good stuff.
And uh, I guess there was something I was gonna
go with the I'll remember that we're just talking to
Glendale hard rock. There was something off of the system

(01:11:20):
of the down thing and surge, and I just my
wife will probably text me and remind me he's Jonas Knox.
That's John Romas. Your Twitter handle is John at KNOXI
boy Toxy Boy four. Doug isn't here today because Doug
was in for Colin Cowherd on The Herd and because

(01:11:40):
of that, we like to play a segment call. All right,
So Doug was sitting in for Colin, and I was
talking about if you have a big three, somebody's got
to be a number three with the Lakers, could be Lebron.
Here's Doug Steak. What if I told you that if
Kawen let her choose the Lakers, Lebron is actually the
third best player in his own team. We can say, well,

(01:12:00):
that's perfect for Lebron because he's always liked to get
everybody else involved. But ask yourself, when was the last
time Lebron James wasn't the best player on his own team.
I could make the case that a couple of times
on Team USA, Kevin Durant was actually the better player,
the better score. But if Lebron was not one A,
he was a one B like we gotta stop and

(01:12:21):
think about ramifications of this. If Kauai goes to the
Lakers Lebron James based upon where he is age wise
in his career, amount of doing the Jordan's versus Lebron thing,
I'm not doing any of that. What I am saying,
and this is really important, is he has never been
in a place where he was not the best player,

(01:12:41):
and he ain't the best player. He is good. Kawhi
Leonard and most people in the NBA think that Anthony
Davis is right there, and Anthony Davis is going to
get better playing with better players around him. Could be
the most fascinating element of what maybe the biggest team
and the biggest story of the upcoming NBA season. I've
always thought when he came to big threes sixties, six

(01:13:05):
percent of that big three gets to be who they are,
So two of the three guys and it's someone who
has to adjust. That's what I think if Lebron would
go to the Lakers, or excuse me, have kau I
would go to the Lakers. That's what they've got to
sort out. And I think we talked about yesterday. I
have no idea who's going to be the one to
play defense. And if I were to pick anybody to

(01:13:28):
lock down the opposing team's best player, it would probably
be Kawai Leonard. Now, Kauais shown in Toronto that he
could play both ends of the court. But I don't
think that you want to take Lebron and exert him
on the defensive end, which would hurt him on the
offensive end. Like I think, if Kauai comes to l A,
it's Kauai. Even even if Kauai is the best player
of them all, I think Kauai is the one that

(01:13:48):
actually ends up having to take the back seat because
of the personalities and the skill sets and who can
really do what at this age of their career. And
everybody can say, well, Lebron is an unselfish player. He'd
be more than welcome to bring these guys along. That's
easy to say when he's been in control of of
both quote unquote big threes that he was a part
of because he was the guy Dwyane Wade stepped aside.

(01:14:12):
Lebron James is the best player in the team. When
he was in Cleveland, that was his Cleveland team that
he pulled the strings on to get Kevin Love and
to want to work with Kyrie Irving. But it was
Lebron's team no matter what, which is why Kyrie Irving
wanted to leave that team when he had been on
there after Lebron left like he was he was the
incumbent there and and Lebron ended up taking the reins

(01:14:34):
on that team. So it's easy to say, oh, look,
he's going to be an unselfish player and he's gonna
welcome in Kauai, and Lebron will be the guy to
take a step back. Everybody says that, But I seem
to remember Lebron James sort of, you know, gloating about
some of his individual accomplishments last year. I seem to
remember Lebron James, you know, promoting more of himself and

(01:14:55):
less about the team a year ago. I just think
we can all talk big about how you're going to
act in a situation until the situation happens, and then
you really find out what what all that talk was,
what say? What does it delay say? The the roles

(01:15:17):
all have to be sorted out, and I just I
don't see the you know, the the positions of where
the Lakers are. I know it's a positionless basketball nowadays
what positionless basketball? Jonas is usually a guy who was
usually the three playing the five. It's not a bunch
of three fours and fives out of the court. Really

(01:15:40):
like it's it's more guard based of playing without a
position than it is front court based. And if you
want to put Kauai in that backcourt, even though Lebron
needs the ball in his hands, he's still really a
three or a four. The you have four guys in
the front court and putting Kyle who's into that scenario,

(01:16:01):
and you have nothing to do in the backcourt. I
I don't know how the world are you gonna guard
Golden State. And I'm so glad you brought up Kuzma
because the Lakers held onto Kuzma because they think he's
got a really bright future. I got news for you.
That future gets stunted when you've got Kauai, Leonard, Lebron James,
and Anthony Davis and you're starting five. So this whole
talk about we can't trade Kyle Kuzma, No way, we're

(01:16:23):
trading him. Okay, Well, then that's that's a great plan
if you plan to build around him somewhere, but you're
not really building around him. Your star chasing, and he's
going to be the guy left holding the bag because
he's the youngest player there and he's you're not giving
him time or room to develop. It's it seems like
a great plan. I always I felt like the Lakers
were taking the easy way out by just going after

(01:16:44):
a big three because you don't take any it's easy
to sell that to your fan base. Look, we got Kauai,
obviously you want Kawhi Leonard, and you do a deal
with Anthony Davis, gonna take zero scouting, and then now
you're just filling out a roster to hope they have
pieces instead of figuring out how can this thing really work?
Oh by the way, look we've got the CAAI checklist.
Oh nice? I love that. That's always original. Where will

(01:17:06):
I go? Well, we may have an answer. Be sure
to catch live editions of The Doug Dot Leap Show
weekdays at noon eastern three pm Pacific on Fox Sports
Radio and the I Heart Radio app and John Ramos
is here as well, and at the bottom of the
hour you'll get a brand new John Ramos show, five
Eastern Pacific lock in. We are excited for the Friday edition.

(01:17:31):
The Friday editions ones Jonas, I think are always the
ones that are most rich in content. Want to put
my mic on. He's playing a Ramo strop um. But
and it's also because John can't wait to get the
hell out of here, like so Friday. There's always an energy,
there's an energy in his voice. And when you get

(01:17:52):
a John Ramo show, you know you're getting a full
throttle like he's emptying the tank. And the great thing
my Friday two is a vl A gets my correct quicker.
That is true. Valet, Huh. By the way, where do
they park? Does are? They still have the cones blocking
off perfectly good spots downstairs because the parking attendants won't
let anybody park down there. Don't go near there. High

(01:18:13):
maintenance vehicles only kiss my ass. They park it over
at Steve's Big subs the parking ramp here For every
listener who has no idea where we're located. The point
is is there's a ground floor, and then above the
ground floor there are levels from you know to all
the way to nine. But then there's also a lower
level called Executive Park, and that's where the fancy people go.

(01:18:38):
I one time got on the elevator because I just
assumed the guy was taking the elevator to like the
sixth floor instead of going down to the one floor
that he went. And I felt really stupid, and then
I thought, why aren't you just walking down the stairs
to your one floor that you took the elevator. That's
what we've got here at the Fox Sports Radio studio.
He's lazy. I think the best part of the working too,

(01:19:00):
is the fact that the yoga people in the in
the hot yoga next to us use the proper ninth
floor with its supposed especially on the weekends. Those hippies
at that yoga studios so tree huggers. They just seriously
hijack every single perfectly good we have to slum it
on the third floor and above in the parking structure.
The least those people could do when they walk out

(01:19:22):
and a wreek of b oh is not take up
the perfectly good spots you're laying down on a mat,
pretending like you're working out and stretching. We're grinding it
in here talking about where Kawhi Leonard's playing is at. Okay,
move aside and give us the spots downstairs. I don't
know if you guys know this. Next door, I'm opening
opening up cold yoga. What is cold yoga? Dress up

(01:19:45):
as an eskimo and stretch. It's it's eight degrease fahrenheit
and you bring a sleeping bag in to keep warmth
and you can maybe pull your Hamstring's good. That's what
it is. Yoga. It's the new trend here in l A.
This is the dug outlet show, brought to you by Farmers.
At Farmers, we've seen almost everything, so we know how
to cover almost anything when it's game time. Have an

(01:20:06):
experienced player to help you stay ahead of the game,
but their experience into play at Farmers dot com. By
the way, do you know what they call cold yoga
in Siberia? No? Oh, I don't either. I I don't know.
I was asking a question. Yoga, that's what they call it.
They just call it yoga. I have made no bones

(01:20:28):
about it. I do not want Kahi letter to join
the Lakers. And it's not because I'm a Lakers hater. Hater,
you're hater. I hate a lot of things like kids
cooking shows, as we've talked about, but I don't I
don't want to consider myself a Lakers hater. I don't
want to see an NBA where we are dominated by
one team, and because of Kevin Durant's injury, because of

(01:20:50):
Clay Thompson's injury, if Kauai Leonard ends up going to
the Lakers and Jonas, it's not a given that the
Lakers would win the NBA tied, it's all of the
attention would be on the Lakers now. A couple of
years ago, when Kevin Durant left for Golden State, saying
goodbye to Oklahoma City. That season, there were three games

(01:21:15):
we cared about in the entire eighty two game regular
season played by all thirty teams. They were a Warriors
rematch with the Calves both in Cleveland and in Oakland,
and then it was Kevin Durant's returned Oklahoma City. Like,
we didn't even care about the Thunder games in Oakland
because we just felt that the Warriors were gonna win

(01:21:36):
those if we get to that point with the NBA.
There may be good basketball between the Sixers in Bucks,
or Celtics and Heat, or you know, Jimmy Butler goes
back to Philadelphia in Minnesota and all those other great
stories that we have. But the real fact of the
matter is is that we're only gonna be focused on
the Lakers. And that's something that I do not want. Well,

(01:21:57):
It's why I thought when people were pointing out where
Zion Williamson might end up and who's gonna get the
number one pick, and blah blah blah blah blah, and
everyone's at all, you know what about New York and
they're talking about New York and then he ends up
in New Orleans, and the thought was, wow, that boy,
what what a bummer for the NBA. I'm thinking to myself,
Hold on a second. We know that New York still

(01:22:19):
loves their basketball. We know that the Lakers are a powerhouse.
We know that all we know what teams are good.
If all of a sudden, New Orleans becomes a relevant
team because of one player, isn't that good for the league,
Like they don't you want more interesting things to watch,
don't It's it's all about creating hope. And it's why
the NFL is always king Because the NFL, every single year,

(01:22:43):
you get a couple of teams, three or four usually
who weren't in the playoffs before, who are in the
playoffs that next year. There's a there's a fast turnaround rate.
It's not like that in the NBA. So the way
that you need to generate more interest is to have
these smaller markets with legitimate teams. I got news for you.
I like watching the Utah Jazz. I'm even more interested

(01:23:03):
to see the Utah Jazz than I was before. And
I liked watching them before, because now if the Jazz
show up in town, it's no longer I don't know
if I want to go there. Oh no, they're interesting now.
Manny Machado's in San Diego, Padrea, I got news for you.
More people are gonna go to Padre games on the
road because they have a legitimate star on their team.
I always think it's good when you have stars in

(01:23:25):
different places and not just lumped up into one and
people I think it confused with parody, and parody is
at all thirty two teams in the NFL, you know,
having the the same chance of what we see, as
you said, there are years where it seems that they're
you know, anywhere from three to six playoff teams moving
in and out each year. What what I like in

(01:23:46):
the parody that I'm talking about is you've got ten
or twelve teams that have the ability, and there may
be a big dog, there may be the Patriots there.
In Major League Baseball is a perfect example. The Dodgers
have been playing some spectacular baseball for all intensive purposes.
The division race in the NL West is over. They're
up fourteen a half games on the Colorado Rockies. Okay,

(01:24:10):
the Dodgers have the best record in all of baseball,
but there is no given that they are going to
win the World Series. Now, their path to the World
Series maybe a bit easier than what you have in
the American League, but it's not necessarily a given that
they're going to get there. And it could be the
collision course that you could have with the Yankees could

(01:24:31):
be dethroned by the Twins, or it could be dethroned
by the Astros or the Rays, whoever makes the playoffs
in the American League. When you just have a one
team league like the NBA or a two team league.
It just makes it about those other two and it
everything else doesn't matter because you're so focused on that.
And that's what that's just worries me about the Lakers stuff,
because I did not like the NBA in that season

(01:24:55):
a couple of years ago, when it was just Kevin
Durant's first year, it was gonna be the three p
you knew what the finals were going to be. That
wasn't exciting to me that you're sitting there waiting for
six months and then you have to go through another
six weeks of playoffs just to get to the NBA
Finals and have the matchup that you finally wanted. I
don't want that NBA to be there. And look, the
NBA had an issue this year. People weren't watching these games.

(01:25:18):
And we can pretend that, well, it's because Lebron was
on the West coast, all right. Well the Warriors are
on the West Coast too, and I know a lot
of people like watching them play, So get out of
here with that, Like, we we can all play that
game if we want. But the NBA had an issue
because people just assumed they knew what the ending was.
And here's how I Here's how I knew the NBA
had an issue because more people were talking about the

(01:25:38):
off season than they were what was happening in season.
And the guy I always make the case for is
James Harden. James Harden scored thirty six points a game.
The two players in the history of the sport have
ever done that in a season, Wilt Chamberlain and Michael Jordan's.
And all I kept hearing about was, Hey, what's Kevin

(01:26:00):
rant doing come July one? What do you? What? Am I?
What's wrong here with this? And so don't so the
fact that the NBA has got a legitimate star in
New Orleans and that they might have a legitimate star
with the Clippers or the Raptors. I'm into that more
so than I'm into a The Lakers got another another
all time great player. How home, what else is new

(01:26:22):
in the n b A. I think if Kawhi Leonard
ends up going back to the Raptors, you also have
now a conversation of what is what conference is really
better personnel wise? Like now you actually have a real
legitimate conversation. I know Kevin Durance hurt, but Jimmy Butler
ends up staying in the East, Kyrie Irving stays in
the East, you would have Kauhi Leonard staying in the East.

(01:26:44):
And to have those pieces of than what you would
have in the West, you'd also have more balance throughout
the NBA. Yeah, and look, you're gonna create rivalries. Kyrie
going back to Boston is gonna be big. I mean,
that's gonna be fun to watch. Um, there's gonna be
different scenarios to take place. Brooklyn even though he's not
going to be playing, Uh, Brooklyn going to Golden State

(01:27:05):
to take on the Warriors, and Kevin Durant potentially being
an attendance so that that Bob Meyers can fake cry again. Like,
that's gonna be fun to watch. You're you're going to
have those one off situations. But overall, in general, ask yourself,
are you more interested in the n b A if
there are stars spread out throughout the league or if
you just jumble them up all into one place. I

(01:27:27):
just look, Dan, you have a house all right? When
you when you first bought the house, Um and say,
you guys had a really really nice kitchen, but the
bathroom needed work. What was the next logical step work
on the bathroom? Right? In the NBA. Apparently the next
logical step is, no I had another kitchen. The one
we've got is working fine. No, I just focus on
that one part of the house. Let's let's make that

(01:27:49):
as nice as possible. All right, all the congratulations. This
is where we make breakfast down the hall is where
lunch is serve. This is where we serve up. Yeah,
that's it's I it's it's amazing to think of how
this has turned out. I even sent a tweet out
to your point about what was more important the week

(01:28:09):
of the finals, Like you had a week span where
the Raptors won their title. You had Durant blowing his achilles,
Clay Thompson injuring his you know, knee, and then you
had the A D trade. All three of those scenarios
seemed to be bigger than the Raptors even winning the NBA.
And look, um and and look, this would be a
deeper dive as to all the different things that took place.

(01:28:31):
I guess you know, the six degrees of Kevin Bacon.
Everything ties together, the butterfly effect, if you will. But
that what happened in that seventy two hour span of
Kevin Durant blowing his achilles and Clay Thompson ripping his
knee up. What happened in that seventy two hour span
had a much greater impact on the NBA than the

(01:28:52):
first time ever that a Canadian team on a title. Yeah,
the first time in the history of a country. And
two guys getting injured in a seventy two hours band
was much greater than all of them by a mile
or a kilometer. That's a good point, good point, all right.
By the way, John, Um, do you know how much
a kilometer is? I believe it's a thousand feet? All right,

(01:29:14):
good John, That is good, Well done, John, In and
out a little little little fun there, little kilometer talk
here on Fox Sports Radio, all right, Dan Buyer Jonas
knocks in for Doug Gottlieb here on fs ARE. If
you would like to provide last minute show ideas that
will not be included in today's show because it's too late,

(01:29:35):
you can tweet John at j S. Ramo zero six
with the hashtag the John Ramo Show Right up next.
He's one of the best in the business. He is
going to try and make sense of all the drama.
Plus this guy told you a long time ago, how
something was going to break down with an entire organization.

(01:29:56):
Find out who it is next Here on fs are
b to catch live editions of The Doug dot Leap
Show weekdays at noon Eastern three pm Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the I Heart Radio app. It sure
is on a Friday. Still awaitning Kawai Leonards decision. I'm
Dan Buyer, that's Jonas Knocks. He is John Ramo sitting
in Fort Doug today and still no decision from Kauai.

(01:30:21):
But it was apparently spotted. Um, I don't know Isaac
had the flight tracker. I thought I saw a tweet
that said he was spotted somewhere in Carmel Valley. I
don't why somewhere. He had audio from the cockpit from
the from the pilots. Uh, Isaac, that was legitimate audio
you had earlier. Oh yeah, that was of the return

(01:30:42):
flight getting cleared from San Diego to fly to Toronto.
And Dan, what what you're talking about? The alleged picture
that's starting to circulate on social media someone claiming they
just saw Kauai at the Carmel Valley AMPM in San Diego,
which is a couple of miles south of the house
that he bought earlier this year. And it's the picture

(01:31:04):
of a gentleman. Well, it's the back of this gentleman.
He's wearing snazzy New Balance shoes that Kauai has been
spotted with before and a hat that is similar to
one that Kauai has worn before. So welcome to life
in I remember seeing JaVale McGhee like years back before
he became JaVale McGhee, like down on the promenade in

(01:31:24):
Santa Monica, Like, oh, that's JaVale McGhee. You should be
able to know if it's Kwai Leonard or not. I mean,
he's the only guy that we've we've spoken about for
the last week. Yeah. And by the way, if it's
in and around San Diego, Um, look, there's a lot
of like you go to San Diego Beach and there's
a lot of guys who are like, I don't know,
forty five to fifty and still think they're nineteen. And

(01:31:48):
uh so Kawhi Leonard does not look like any of them.
And uh and do we know what he was buying
at the amp M? Did he get an icy did
he have like one of those pack of doughnuts. He
is in the candy area. I see uh slim gyms nearby,
and David's sunflower seeds as well as ruffles and laz
that he appears to be looking at. Interesting. Now, Dan,

(01:32:09):
all right, let's so let's have the conversation here. And
this is the most important aspect of this Kawhi Leonard discussion.
If you were Kawahi Leonard, what would you have bought
at the Ampi end? Well, here's the deal. First of all,
jerky is at the end of the aisles, So like
if you're looking for a beef snack, you're not going
to find it in the middle of the aisle, so
you would probably just stand out at the end. I

(01:32:29):
would probably go with a bag of chips um, maybe
a t G I Friday potato skins, sour cream and onion,
and then uh, then a good old dew or something. Look,
if he needs a caffeine kick, I would go with
an iced coffee, But you got to read the label
because there's a lot of sugar in those. If you
can find a no sugar iced coffee to wash yourself

(01:32:51):
and make your decision a little easier, I would recommend
that and the beef jerkey is always good, Dan everybody needs.
I would always also go with a jerky dip, you know,
like the jerky snuff that you can get that's liked,
still a favorite of mine, and throw people off think
he had a skull pouchin or something like that. Yeah, yeah,
is Rick Bucker. Are you a fan of jerky snuff?

(01:33:12):
Have you ever had jerky snuff? You know, the the
stuff that looks like it's in the tobacco tan, but
it's beef jerky. No, I think I've I've eaten a
lot of different things. I've I've missed out on that. Yeah,
just go when you when you see beef jerky at
your next convenience store, you'll see it in a little
plastic tan. All it is is salt like that, like

(01:33:35):
that's the whole thing. But I had to it's that's
where you can put a little dip in. Yeah. I
just want to meet the guy who said, hey, you
know what we should do. We should put jerky in
a snug tea and then and then I want to
meet the person who said, yeah, and I'll pay for it.
I'll tell you who he is. He's candy cigarettes. That's
what I was just gonna say, candy cigarettes on the

(01:33:55):
ice cream truck years ago. I mean those were hot
man or fake tattoos, like apparently because because you know,
people back then who rode around an ice cream trucks thought,
you know what, let's find something that's gonna make our
youth look like thugs. So here's some fake tattoos and
some candy cigarettes. Okay, but still candy cigarettes. At least
the first word is candy. Yeah. The that that kind

(01:34:19):
of tips you off jerky snuff, jerky snuff. I've still
got questions is actually what you're giving. I'll tell you what.
You'll go to the store, you'll look in the beef
jerky section and you'll see a little plastic and you'll
be like, oh, that's what Dan and Jonas we're talking about. Rick,
Can I ask you this? Um? So we're we've got
audio from the cockpit of a plane that may or

(01:34:40):
not may not have been carrying Kawhi Leonard. We've got
Kawhi Leonard spotted in the AMPM what's happening here? What
the hell is happening here? Uh? Well, I can't speak
for your your cape or the AMPM. Um at this point,
and look, we're all reading Tea leaves uh the idea

(01:35:00):
that he's still deliberating. I'm not. I'm not buying that
as much as I am. Okay, So how are we
going to handle the um the announcement? Most everyone that
I'm talking to around the league at this point believe
that um it having gone on this long is h
is an indicator that the that he's staying with the

(01:35:20):
Toronto Raptors. And I've even had somebody in the Lakers
organization who didn't speak from a place of knowledge that
they had been tipped off, or that they thought the that,
or that they knew something had been decided, but they
were of the mind that he was staying with Toronto
simply looking at the usual conduct of circumstances like this,

(01:35:43):
that if he was gonna he was going to take
the light Lakers off, or that it would have been done,
it would have been expedited after he met with them,
but that at this point this is a matter of
not so much having to still make a decision, but
how do we announce that decision? Is it a matter
of that if you want to be a Laker, you
shouldn't have to be convinced to be a Laker. Maybe

(01:36:04):
that's not the right way of putting it, but if
you wanted to be a Laker, he would have known
it from the beginning. Is that a sense that that
there may I compose that some of it. I think
more of it is is that there's just answer. There's
questions that they can't answer for him right now, and
that no doubt that they couldn't in the in the meeting,
which is, you know, what's the rest of the roster
gonna look like? Um, you know, what are we gonna

(01:36:25):
run under Frank Vogel, And how's it gonna work with
Jason Kidd and the coaching staff? And um, but I
think that the and um, you know, how are you
going to handle my health? Who's going to be in
charge of that? I mean, he doesn't have any of
those questions with Toronto. He's been He's got a relationship
with Alex McKechnie Judicido, who worked on on Kobe. Um.

(01:36:49):
Alex also worked on Kobe at one point. If I'm
not mistaken, I note that he was with the Lakers
at a time where Kobe was there. Um. Kobe is
familiar with both of them, but Kauai is only familiar
with one. And I've been told for a while now
that health and the ability to stay healthy and play
UH and get through a season and and be ready

(01:37:10):
to play for a championship is a big element for
him in this decision. And for all that the Lakers
can offer UH, if you really get down to brass
tacks in terms of what that requires, there's a lot
of things that they can't answer as far as that's concerned. Rick,
we compared it as we've been talking to the last
couple of days, of when you're trying to decide where
to go to dinner, you kind of just end up
falling back to the place you always go. Yeah, yeah, yeah, No,

(01:37:33):
that's a it's a it's a big part of it,
and I think, especially with a guy like kauai h,
familiarity as part of it. Look At when when he
first went there, I was told by another uh GM
that when they didn't expect him to stay, because when
he went up there for the All Star Game, he stayed.
He never left his room. Now it was I was there.
It was one of the coldest places I've ever been

(01:37:55):
on earth. And I went to school in New Hampshire,
so Uh, I mean, I've never experienced cold like that. Um.
But since then we haven't heard. I mean, he spent
an entire year there and we never heard or saw
any indication that he had issue with playing in Toronto

(01:38:15):
or the weather or any of those things. And I
would have thought that if it was a factor, that
that we would have heard something by now. He signed
a a endorsement deal with a private jet company that
is tied in with Drake. A lot of people around
the league took that as a signal, um, because I
just I don't know how how that works. And the
reality is, you have a private jet, you can go

(01:38:36):
back to you know, back to l A any time
you want. You can go back to to California anytime
you want. But as far as playing for a championship
next year and knowing what you're who and what you're
going to be working with again, I'm I'm relaying what
I'm hearing from people around the league, which the consensus
at this point is that all signs point to him

(01:38:59):
staying with Rono, largely because of the timeline. But when
you start breaking everything else down, uh, and Kauai wanting
to know exactly what he's going to be working with
the next couple of years. Um, the Toronto can Bribe
provide more answers than anybody else. He is Rick Buker,
Fox Sports One, Fox Sports Radio, NBA Insider. Also you
see his work on the Bleacher Report. You can get

(01:39:20):
his stuff on Twitter at Rick Buker. Joining us here
on Fox Sports Radio, Dan Buyer, Jonas Knox in for
Doug gottlieb Rick. What's which team is hurt the most
by Kawhi Leonard not going there? If we want to
throw in the Clippers, that's fine, But which of these
two teams that aren't going to get Kawhi Leonard of
the final three are going to be hurt the most.

(01:39:41):
It has to be the Clippers just because of the timeline. Um, well, actually,
I take that back. It has to be the Lakers
because of the timeline with Lebron James. I don't know
what how they can salvage this at this point. It's
really once you get past that the Clippers were expecting
to have him in. This is supposed to be a
a great step forward. Yes, they were able to get

(01:40:04):
Anthony Davis. Is that enough for them to win another
championship before Lebron turns the corner. If he hasn't already,
I think most people would say, no, there's there's nothing
guaranteed there, and as a result nothing being guaranteed that
they're going to be playing for a championship, it's gonna
be difficult to get some of these ancillary veterans like
in Andrea Gudala or some other guys who might go

(01:40:27):
there on the cheap saying, hey, man, Kauai a d lebron,
let me go get another ring. Uh. With that not
being assured, I think those type of veterans are going
to be dispersed across the league and it's going to
be more difficult for the Lakers to do to to
make a serious upgrade other than the fact that they've
added Anthony Davis to the equation. Rick Bucker joining us

(01:40:48):
here on the Doug ot Leap Show on Fox Sports Radio.
He's Jonas Knocks. I'm Dan Buyer. Last one for me. Rick,
has the East caught up with the West if Kauai
stays in Toronto? Yeah, I don't see what. Don't see
why not? I mean, they were the champions this year.
I felt going into the year that whoever was that
that an Eastern Conference team was going to win it
simply because I thought the Golden State was at the

(01:41:13):
point where the number of long seasons and the shortened
bench and the wear and tear on their main horses
was going to leave them vulnerable to whoever was left
at the at the end of the road. But you
look at I don't know if it's I think what's
I think there's there's parody between the two conferences as
much as there's ever been, maybe not in terms of depths,

(01:41:36):
but certainly at the top. Uh Toronto, Philadelphia, Milwaukee. Those
are all teams that are that are that can hold
their own and can consider themselves as much title contenders
as anybody that we're going to see coming out of
the West without without Kauai making the switch to the Lakers.

(01:41:56):
He's Rick Buker, Fox Sports One NBA analysts, how much
is this cut into your effing time just waiting for Kauai. Well,
you know it's funny that you say that, because, um,
a couple of my buddies, I'm headed back home for
a day before I go to Vegas, and a couple
of buddies, buddies were just out and one was on
a stand up and he had a like a ten

(01:42:16):
foot great white go under, And so everybody's kind of
chilling on. Maybe maybe we'll take a couple of days
off from surfing our usual spots because, um, we've had
My group of guys has had. One of them is
a pilot and flies a little plaine up and down
the coast and he saw like five or six ten
to twelve foot great white all in a pack. So

(01:42:39):
we're all spooked right now. So it's not cutting in.
I was gonna go tomorrow for sure, you know, I might,
I might. I might wait till I get back from Vegas.
The men in the in the in the white suits
have decided to move on to greener, greener waters. And okay, now,
where exactly are you see in these sharks or people
out there that might be considering going to a beach.
Where are you seeing um these stunt double jaws. The

(01:43:02):
great white was seen at Dunes Beach off of Halfman Bay.
That's where I live and most of the most of
the breaks that I surfer right around there. So but
as we know, great whites, uh, they've got some range.
They're they're they're like Steph Curry. They can they can.
They can go a long way. Yeah, go to channel

(01:43:23):
do channel surfing instead of actual surfing this week. That
would be the best way. Rick Buker, Fox Sports One,
NBA analyst and our friend here at Fox Sports Radio.
Find um on Twitter at Rick Buker. Appreciate it, Rick,

(01:44:50):
We have a great show for you tonight. Make sure
to always use a hashtag The John Ramo Show. And
it's also Flex Friday. What are you flexing today? Those
bice ups? Maybe it's the glutes? Let us know when
you could even send some pictures. I'll read your tweeks
later on in the show. Also, it's National Pavement Day,
Danna Jonas, what's your favorite pavement? Mine is porous asphalt,

(01:45:13):
though perpetual asphalt is not bad either. Well, Ryan Music
is out today, so my good friend Eric is here
with me. Eric. Let's get things going. John, oh man,
Look this whole Kawai Leonard thing is getting out of hand,
Day five, right, Yeah? Why is it taking so long?
Well that's a great question, Eric, I really don't know.
I mean, who couldn't choose the Clippers? Really? John, the Clippers?

(01:45:36):
Why don't give him a chance? Oh no, not a chance.
I just wanted to dig them one more time. Should
the NBA adopt a sixty sixty five point shot? We'll
talk about the next on the John Roma Show. You

(01:45:56):
Rock Lord World, Dan, all right, oh little switch up
Elton John. His movie about his life is out right

(01:46:18):
now at a theater near you, and we want to
have him live there he is. Don't forget. He'll join
us live later on for an in depth interview on
the sofa about his life, career, etcetera. But later we
have a John Rolmost Show exclusive. Guys. Something you won't
hear on any of the show in the country, radio, TV,
any website anywhere. Did the Knicks botch NBA free agency?

(01:46:41):
We touch on it the first time later tonight, But
right now it's time to dip into something we like
to call sports called running guys, this is a chance
here we yes, this is sports cauldron. This is where

(01:47:04):
I turned around that cauldron looking for some you know,
news of sports. Look, MLB, NFL. Let's see what's in
the sports cauldron. Let's why. It's an eleven year old
golfer qualifiers for the US Women's Amateur becoming the third
youngest qualifiered history Let's see what else did this sports?

(01:47:25):
Called sports? There's so much sports going on, Kawai Leonard,
what little MLB? What do you got? Joe Marler out
of retirement for England and World Cup. By the way,
for those of you that are listening, John really is
stirring something actual stirring. There's so much sports going on

(01:47:48):
right now. There's got to be something in their NFL
free agent talks, something going on. Last, pulling out of
the sports cauldron, we've got ha f one confirms vers
stopping one Driver of the Day award after Cooper Glitch.
We got a Cooper glitch in the system. What do

(01:48:09):
you really get out of life by being the one
who said it first? That's next on the John Ramos Show.
Got a game? The game quarterback? All right, Yes, sir

(01:48:35):
Elton John is in the house, da buyer. Don't worry.
He lets all the secrets out later in the show
during our in depth interview plus come up later, guys,
who's your favorite NFL long snapper? Mine is somebody you
never would even think of. Also, we're gonna re drought
the NBA Draft. All I can say is, hey, Keith Booth,

(01:48:58):
he's not going time for Sorry Bulls. Maryland's now Dan
and Jonas mother brother is John Wilkes. Right now, Danna Jonas,
I'm gonna give us some top stories of the day
in sports, and you tell me if it's a fraud, nonsense,
smoke screen or misdirection. Dan, let's start first with you,

(01:49:20):
Nick's favorite to win Vegas Summer League title. That's nonsense. No,
it's fraud, Okay, Jonas, Christian Yelloch, Homer and Derby will
not ruin my swing. Is that a fraud, nonsense smoke
screen or misdirection? I believe that's fraud smoke screen. Eric

(01:49:46):
Jimmer for debt Quits Warriors summer League team appears again
to be done with the NBA. Is that fraud, nonsense,
smoke screen or misdirection. I'm gonna go with m direction. John,
It's a smoke screen. Ah, got you. Well, that's all
the time we have for tonight show. Thanks to Sir
Elton John for being our special guest. Sorry we couldn't

(01:50:08):
get to him tonight, but we'll have to reschedule for
another time. And Eric, I'll catch you if you're on
his back side. Okay, all right? What I found amazing
is Elton John, I believe has three greatest hits albums.
Did he played the same song twice? Play the hits

(01:50:29):
show play the hit Danny. That's how that works. He
is still standing for the second time after playing that.
My favorite part of the of the script that we
got is that Gavin has a role, yet Gavin's not here.
That's that. That was my favorite part. Elton John's favorite
asphalt is crocodile rock. Oh my god. By the way,

(01:50:54):
if you would like to provide show ideas to the
John Ramos Show the next time we have a John
Ramo show, It's really easy at j S. Ramo zero six.
But the hashtag is the John Ramo Show. All right.
He's Dan Stock this box more radio in for Doug

(01:51:16):
Gottlieb coming up next. It's the press and it is
so hot I'm not even gonna tell you what's inside
of it. Here on FSR at Farmers Insurance, we know
a roof can withstand a lot. One exception being an
airborne car seen it covered it. Dr Farmers, we are
Farmers underwritten my Farmers truck Fire Insurance exchanges and affiliates

(01:51:39):
products unavailable in every state. He's Jonas knocks. That's John Ramos.
I'm Dan buyer that tweets just pouring in. Holy cow,
my life is so much better every time I hear
the John Ramos Show. The Dead Air is amazing. Another
one and and uh the whole families gathered around the
radio sipping Hennessy with the John Ramos Show. Yeah there

(01:52:00):
it is good stuff. Man, Tim Tebow listening good drinking
some hennessy listening with the family and uh, Dr Robert.
The John Romno Show still sucks so good. By the way,
how many people do you think when John had the
Dead Air looked at their radio to make sure that,
like they're like stereo didn't go out? Oh man, Yeah,
what's going on. We're in a bridge and a tunnel.

(01:52:26):
Let's bring the press. The press today is brought to
you by True Car. In sports of trade can make
or break your team. It's no different when it comes
to selling or treading in your car. You need to
make good choices in with True Car, You've got a
star on your roster. So when you're ready to sell
a tread in your car, checkout True Car. True Cash
offer not available in all areas. Hey, Isaac, Hey, Dan
and Jonas I remember a few days ago in the

(01:52:47):
semi found of the Women's World Cup, Alex Morgan scores
the goal and then while she's celebrating, makes the gesture
of sipping tea and the victory over England. Well, and
she's been criticized size since then for that celebration, and
today she said that the celebration was partly an homage
to Game of Throne actress Sophie Turners, you know. But

(01:53:15):
then she added some interesting comments. I'm going to read
some of it and then you're gonna hear the real
good stuff from Alex Morgan herself. She says, quote, I
feel that there is some sort of double standard for
females in sports, to feel like we have to be
humble in our successes and have to celebrate, but not
too much or in a limited fashion. Now, before Jonas

(01:53:35):
continues his man splaining, let's hear more from Alex Morgan.
You see men celebrating all around the world in big tournaments, Um,
you know, grabbing their sacks or whatever it is. And um,
when I look at sipping a cup of tea, I'm
I'm a little taken aback and and kind of you

(01:53:57):
have to laugh about it. To see all the criticism.
Well Jonas who was upset about her sipping the tea
Brits because they thought it was a shot at them.
I don't think men looked at it and said it's
a woman, how dare she? Yeah, I thought it was
so dumb that she did, Like I didn't mind rapinos.
You know, look at me, you know after I have

(01:54:17):
no problem with that. It's such a stereotype of what
all all all English people must drink tea. By the way,
they were also sipping tea on the way to the bus,
so it's totally contrived and planned. So don't sit there
and get on your high horse for that. And look
who what guy has grabbed his sack? Anybody knows they

(01:54:39):
were playing sack Land. Yeah, what's wrong? That was like
potato sacks? Were you hopping like that? The potato sack
bag and you try and see who can win the race? Bag?
Get out there and pressed that. The press was singular
again today. If you've got more stories, we'll let you
do them next hour. The pre Yeah, by the way,

(01:55:00):
did I have to tell you this? Because if I don't,
I'm gonna forget it. More of your calls on super team.
There's an NBA storyline I hate. I'll tell you next
A yes, a fourth hour year on Fox Sports Radio.
Hope your day after the fourth of July. On the
fifth of July is going well. We know that the
John Ramo Show is his continues continues to uh spin

(01:55:25):
hot fire show after show. The results are and you
can read them all at hashtag the John Ramo Show.
Of course, the Twitter handle isn't the John Ramo Show
because that wouldn't fit. So it's just at John Ramo Show.
But John Ramos is here with Jonas and myself as well.
I want to get something off my chest just quickly,
because I understand that there's really only one story in sports,

(01:55:49):
and it's a story that is not developing. It's stagnant.
It's just sitting there. It's Kawhi Leonard and I will
be taking in some Wimbledon on Saturday. You won't be
able to watch it on Sunday because they don't place
on Sundays at the All England Club. Yeah, yeah, yeah
they will. You'll have your big day Monday with all
of the Round of sixteen matches, so Monday will is

(01:56:12):
the way that Mondays are treated at Wimbledon are are
very special. It's like an overrated Chick fil a. No,
shut his mike off, ten minutes, ten minute band for
for Jonas knocks. You are not allowed to speak after that.
Without the without the bros. You gotta have the Jones.

(01:56:33):
Here's Joana the I don't know if it's even closer.
Not the storyline. The only storyline that we're following is
Kawai Leonard. But shows like ours and other sports networks
love to bring up different angles and trying to get
all that. Listen, you're feeling programming. You're trying to make

(01:56:54):
interesting conversations, trying to look at stuff that that maybe
hasn't been looked at from the at angle. And that's
where the really, really good ones are able to do it.
But what I hate is the stuff that's just blatantly
made up to try to come up with a story,
fake argument. Guys, what we will bring up every now
and then if people are like, hey, I'm sorry, but

(01:57:17):
for those of you that don't think the Dodgers are
any good this year, you're wrong. Like, like nobody is
saying that, you know, I'm seeing a lot of people
on Twitter and they're all telling me Kauai is going
to retire, and I you're crazy if you think he's
gonna walk out at this stage. Nobody said that. There's
no not one person has said that. Your fake argument. Guy,

(01:57:38):
it's it's it's it's absurd when you hear these things.
But this is now the second time that I have
heard or read have the Bucks done enough to keep nice?
And first of all, it is so absurd to think
that like next year would be the first time the
Bucks can actually offer Janice isn't a free agent until

(01:58:01):
one If he doesn't sign that deal, sure the Bucks
would have a decision to make if he doesn't sign
it next offseason, that's when things It's kind of the
Anthony Davis thing. You're you're you're a year You're not
two years out in wondering what should happen. You gotta
be within eighteen months, Anthony Davis, you were gonna find
out on June or July one if he was going
to sign that contract extension. Well we found out in

(01:58:22):
February when he wanted out, so then you knew that
you had to trade him the deal with the honest
is is the issue that I have with it, Jonas
is twofold is number one. There hasn't been any indication
that Janice would like to leave Milwaukee. And with that
being said, is that team is has been on the

(01:58:45):
upswing so much so that they just had the best
record in the NBA and we're actually two wins away
from making it to the NBA Finals. They're up to
oh in the Eastern Conference Finals to the Raptors and
falls short. And I I will say this, I'm not
been taking into consideration the times that Janice has said
I want to stay in Milwaukee. I'm not. I'm not
even taking that into consideration because things can change. But

(01:59:08):
the point of taking this information and trying to be like,
have they done enough? The Bucks have done everything this
offseason to keep the team that just have the best
record in the NBA back together. So have the Bucks
done enough? It's not if they've done enough. They've done everything.
You couldn't keep Malcolm Brogged in because of what you
paid Chris Middleton and what you've paid Brook Lopez, you

(01:59:31):
were able to make some other deals. You also brought
George Hill back to be your backup point guard to
Eric Bledsoe. They have done practically everything that they could
to continue their winning ways, but yet it's still a
question to have the Bucks done enough. Well, here's the
the other part of that story, so the people can
can relate to what's happening. Here's the other part of

(01:59:52):
the story. You know what a chiron is in TV.
A chiron is the graphic that will come up that
oppose the question if it's a debate. So you know
how this shows up on the chiron? Right? Does the
buck stop here? And then we get into the conversation.
Then we get right into it. Does the buck stop here? Yeah,

(02:00:12):
it's but but again, this goes back to the NBA's
biggest issue. It's why I always prefer NFL talk over
NBA talk for this reason. NBA talk is just, for
the most part, made up stuff. I mean, we're talking
about like you can't enjoy we mentioned it last hour,

(02:00:33):
you can't enjoy what's happening in the regular season because
too many people want to talk about what's gonna go
on in free agency. And then now we're talking about Okay,
let's look at the class, let's look at the two.
Can we just look at the class or can we
just look towards the NFL? Please, somebody tell me what's
happening here. And so the idea that that we've got
to look two and three years ahead to what the

(02:00:55):
next big storyline is going to be in the NBA,
which is where Janice is going to go, if he's
going to go anywhere at all, just tells you the
state of the league. And it's why I've always said,
I think people are fatigued by by a lot of
these NBA stories, and I think a lot of people
in sports media think that fans care more about stuff
in the NBA than they actually do. Kauai is fascinating

(02:01:18):
because in one show, we've talked about Kawhi Leonard being
in an a MPM and then possibly on a plane
that went from Toronto to San Diego. This is just like,
what's what's happening here? And meanwhile, Major League Baseball can't
get a crumble again, can't get a crumb of our time.
It's you know, like talking about the brands and the

(02:01:40):
Honest is now a brand. But then you also when
you when you say that he could be available for
a free agency it also brings in the Laker fans,
the Nick fans, and draws where you have the bigger
fan base, So we know what it's about. It's you know,
it's about getting those looks and hate maybe the Knicks. Yeah,
uh honest, isn't happy with what Milwaukee has done except

(02:02:02):
keep everybody there for a team that are the best
record of the NBA since Malcolm Brock. But you know
what they call somebody who keeps waiting for the next
great thing. That's next great? They called him single at eighty.
They call them yeah, sooner or later, except what's in
front of you and accept it as a reality. This
is your n b A. Stop doing fantasy Matchmaker two

(02:02:23):
years ahead of time. Enjoy what you got or don't
enjoy it, but move on. For God's sakes. It's just
it's it's it's way too much, and it's just trying
to bring those when you don't have any other stories
to talk about and you've got to talk about something
between summer league games. That's what ends up happening. He
trust me and I get it. Okay, Try four hours
in the middle of the night solo. Okay, with no guests,

(02:02:45):
because no what he knows who you are, they're not
gonna come on your show. I can't even get Brady
Quidity is my friend to come on the show. Maybe
Steven Jackson thought he was coming on a right, Yes,
that is right. I forgot about that all of a sudden.
Tonight you'll get a phone call and be like, I'm
here for a Fox Sports radiop Jonas alright, I haven't
tell you Michael Irvin story. This is a true story.

(02:03:06):
It's um. When I was working on the morning show
and doing like post production stuff, it was like eight
It's like eight twenty in the morning, and I'm like
putting stuff together and just doing like, you know, filling,
you know, finishing the morning show, just kind of putting
and the hotline rings in the studio and it's um,
Michael Irvine who was calling in for an eight twenty interview.

(02:03:29):
And I assumed, okay, well, he probably got the numbers
wrong because he was coming on with Dan Patrick because
usually that's a time slot when Dan Patrick had a
guest booked, and um, but then he said, yeah, I'm
calling in, and he gave the name of the show
that was on Fox Sports Radio, and I thought, Um,
are you sure, like this is the number you're supposed
to be calling. Yeah, he goes, oh, I just realized

(02:03:50):
it was PM. Not am. He was off by twelve hours.
But you know what, I'll give that guy credit. And
he was and he couldn't have been nicer. And we
were laughing about it, and he's like, man, back of
the day, I'd always have an excuse because I was
usually just walking in from the club. Now I got
no excuse. I just got my times wrong. I'll give
him credit. He called at on the dot. You know,

(02:04:10):
at least he called some people don't. That's a whole
another problem for somebody else if we're going to trade
stories here on great timing stuff. I had a buddy
who worked at a TV station where there was a
prominent college football team. And you know, you know, we
laugh at Nick Saban saying things that we laugh at
Bill Belichick, you know, saying, you know, uh, face chat

(02:04:31):
in all those but it shows you how invested they are.
And listen, that's happened to us before, done different things.
But there was a coaches show that was supposed to
be taped the next morning, but it was daylight savings.
Coach absolutely oblivious to that. The change the hour back,
So he shows up at eight o'clock, but it's like

(02:04:53):
seven am. The day after the game that they had
just won, and only my buddies at the station because
he worked the overnights and was doing so he had
to you know, there's a knock on the door and
there's the coach and he had to be uh, we
changed our clocks back last night, so then the coach
had an hour to kill to figure out and yeah,
you guys, I'm gonna get some coffee. It's a it's

(02:05:15):
a simple thing, but it also tells you how focused,
you know, the coaches are to not even realize, Oh,
last night was the night we had to change it
wasn't it was a well known coach. Oh yeah, okay,
well not yeah, because I mean it could have been worse.
It could have been as Steve Spurger did a Coach
of show in South Carolina, bombed, I mean annihilated and
then tried to deny it afterwards, and you're slurring your

(02:05:36):
words and you're dropping a curseword, like what do we like? Come?
I just acknowledge it, for God's sakes. John Ramos does
the John Ramo Show bombed every single time as a
matter of fact, Well not yesterday. It's good. That is good,
very good. Um so so Dan Buyer we are still
on Kauai. Watch the latest. He was last seeing that

(02:05:58):
a liquor store and on a beef jerky. That's that's
the latest. You know we had Rick. We're gonna hear from.
We'll play back a little bit what Rick said about
White Leonard in just a little bit. But I was
just amazed that Rick Bucker didn't know about jerky snuff. Yeah.
I thought everybody did. I mean I really did. I
thought it was a a common thing about jerky snuff,
but apparently not. And let me tell you something, David,

(02:06:20):
sunflower seeds for people out there. I have it on
good authority. A cab driver named Mohammed in Pittsburgh told
me this one time. I said, how do you stay
awake on the road all that for when you're up
for that long? And he said, sunflower seeds. You put
him in your mouth and you're so concentrating on cracking
the sunflower seeds you never get tired. And it works. Yeah,
it works. Now the amount of salt and a sunflower

(02:06:42):
seed by the time you get done with it, Uh,
it feels like there's been a dead body eight hours
of that. Yeah, you've got corpse mouth. As from what
was that Steve Curry. Oh, just if you don't have
if you you also are focusing on not choking on
the seed. Yeah, that's true. That yeah, yeah, that is true.

(02:07:06):
I'm still trying to figure out what Steve had to
do with any of that. Steve. Yeah, I don't know.
His name is Mohammed nowhere close to Steve. All right,
Dan Buyer, Jonas Knox in for Doug gott Leeve here
on a Fox Sports radio. Get Dan on Twitter at
Dan Buyer on Fox. You can get John on Twitter
at Steve up. Next here on fs ARE, Um, we

(02:07:27):
we know they're the biggest question in sports right now.
Nobody's got an answer, but we know how it won't
go down. All right, find out what we mean. Next
here on fs ARE, he's Jonas knocks that's John Ramos.
I'm Dan Buyer sitting in for Doug. Is the weekend
is almost here, Your weekend never ends. You're back in
tomorrow as well, four o'clock Eastern, is that correct? One Pacific? Yeah,

(02:07:48):
I'll be back later tonight in the overnights leven o'clock
Pacific to three am Pacific. Then back tomorrow UM one
to five Pacific, which is four to eight eastern time, alright,
the and then it all continues into Sunday. I'm on
at five eastern. You follow it cluck eastern and you'll
be on with Nick Bo and you guys will be

(02:08:09):
breaking down the Kauais. Do do you expect a decision
from Kawai Leonard by the time you hit the airwaves. Yes.
I think on Sunday we'll be talking about where Kauai
is going. I think that he's going to make his
decision somewhere in between two to five Pacific. Would that
help you guys? That would be That would be wonderful,
That would be magnificent. Although hopefully it doesn't fall when

(02:08:30):
we're playing in the nick of time that is always
six eastern three Pacific. If it falls during their tough luck,
Kawai will get to it later. You play on words
when the holidays come around. Potentially you have about a
ba humbug. Yeah, John Ramos has got one. Yeah, well,
I don't have what I will have to say one thing,

(02:08:52):
It will not happen Cohi Leonard during my hours this week,
so it will not. John Ramos Weekend edition can be
heard at Fox Sports Radio dot com. By the way,
John Ramos has not worked a weekend show here at
Fox Sports Radio since like three, Like he never shows
up on a weekend. In fact, they call him. He

(02:09:14):
just hangs up on him right and and in three
I had celebrated by thirtieth birthday, and I said, after this,
the thirties are going to be just the run of
freedom has been. I've been a slow grind ever since.
Ever since oh Man, well, Kawhi Letard still hasn't made
up his mind of where he is going to play.
We were joined earlier by Rick Buker, Fox Sports one

(02:09:37):
NBA analysts on what he's hearing when it comes to
Kauai and him making his decision. When when he first
went there, I was told by another uh GM that
when they didn't expect him to stay, because when he
went up there for the All Star Game, he stayed.
He never left his room. Now it was I was there.
It was one of the coldest places I've ever been

(02:09:58):
on Earth, and I went to cool in the Hampshire,
So I mean, I've never experienced cold like that. Um,
But since then, we haven't heard. I mean, he spent
an entire year there and we never heard or saw
any indication that he had issue with playing in Toronto

(02:10:18):
or the weather or any of those things. And I
would have thought that if it was a factor, that
that we would have heard something by now. But as
far as playing for a championship next year and knowing
what you're who and what you're going to be working with, again,
I'm I'm relaying what I'm hearing from people around the league,

(02:10:38):
which the consensus at this point is that all signs
point to him staying with Toronto, largely because of the timeline.
But when you start breaking everything else down, uh and
Kauai wanting to know exactly what he's going to be
working with the next couple of years, um, the Toronto
can provide provide more answers than anybody else. Really good

(02:10:58):
insight from Mark Buker. I hope you didn't hear my
cough too much in the background. Sorry again, it was
the fans at night. But the point is is everything
that he said is is basically what why I've changed
from the Clippers to Toronto Because it's gone on this long.
There's a reason why Toronto is still in it. And
if you were really down to locale, it would be

(02:11:21):
down to the Raptors or excuse me, the Clippers and Lakers,
and that's not the case because the Raptors are still
And look, if you if you wanted out of something
so badly, all you needed was an opportunity, Like if
you wanted out of anything so badly, oh, you just
need is an opportunity. He has his opportunity and he
hasn't left yet. So what does I tell you he

(02:11:41):
didn't want out badly so and not badly enough? And
maybe this, you know, maybe in having conversations because one
of the things that I know Chris Brusartis said on
Fox Sports Radio and Fox Sports One is that when
he talked with the Lakers, he met individually with different
pieces of the Lakers organization Lebron Magic, like just so

(02:12:05):
he could find out whether or not their stories line up.
If you've got to go to that much trouble just
to find out whether or not somebody's lying, maybe you
shouldn't go there. Like if that's if that's one of
the concerns, Hey, I need to know that that you
guys aren't lying to my face and you need to
go through all those channels. Maybe the bigger question is
why am I having to do this? Like that. That

(02:12:26):
ought to be a telltale sign that you've got a
problem with the organization. It was like a Tyrian game
of thrones. Yeah, see, this is what happens when you
actually watch it. To make a reference when he planted
it with the information this is earlier, so there's like
six or seven years ago. But who would say what
the cer se and then it got back to him
and he knew who he could trust. Maybe that's what

(02:12:47):
Kauai is doing with the Lakers. Yeah, send a raven
Dan the raven. Uh. That probably won't be a way
that Kawhi Leonard uh would announce where he is going
to play via raven. Why don't we figure out some
other ideas on maybe reasons why or or ways that
Kawhi Leonard will not make his announcement. Let's let's see
if John Ramos can I don't know, strike up the

(02:13:09):
band for a little bit, UH, play a little something
for us, because we always like to have music when
we do these sorts of things. It's a good way
for us to go back and forth. Isaac brought up
when we thought the time would be that Kawhi Leonard
makes this decision um something without explosives so that we
can talk over. I thought eleven oh four Eastern time

(02:13:30):
Saturday night. I thought that was that was my guest
and one Kauai was gonna make his John, I just
played the open to street finer for some reason. Tomorrow
night it's big East basketball. Doesn't take that one off.
Do we have still have the open for top takes? Now?

(02:13:51):
That's awesome? John and I had a three minute conversation
in the commercial break, not about what music we were
gonna play in the next seg but how the Whole
Foods didn't have uh pastrami today. That's that's what it was.
So I apologize that was my fault there, not telling
John that we needed a music bad I'm sorry John.

(02:14:13):
What a sick, twisted joke by the people in Sherman
Oaks who said, hey, there's a radio station there. Look,
you know radio it's not like the most lucrative job
in the whole world. So what what would be what
would best fit uh their hunger needs? I know, let's
throw in whole paychecks right next door, and that's the
only place you can go to get food where a

(02:14:35):
half a sandwich is just to rip off and no
Pastrami today, right, John, Nope, it's Ray today, Jonas. You
know what. You know what they say, John, I don't
know stuff. I don't think he's gonna do it with
a rap song. Dan, he doesn't strike me as a rapper.
Kawhi Leonard, I don't think there's gonna be a rap
song that comes out. I just I can't imagine that's

(02:14:57):
the place he goes, take that figures and go into
the Lakers want to hear that from now? You probably
also won't see a billboard I'm saying, you know, like
we have billboards here in l A trying to convince
Kahi Leonard to come to Los Angeles, whether it be
with the Clippers or whoever. I don't think that you're
going to see that from Kauai and announcing where he's going. Yeah,

(02:15:20):
I don't think we're going to get a Sports Illustrated.
Was it Lebron who was on the cover of Sports Illustrated? Yeah,
and he just with that serious look like I don't
even know the cameras they're like, I don't even know
we're taking pictures at this point. I don't think it's
going to be as choreographed as a Lebron decision. I wish,
I wish we had a TV show, but I don't
think it's going to happen on America's Got Talented Now.

(02:15:41):
I don't think that he is going to be given
the thumbs up from Howie Mandel to show that he
is staying with the Raptors. I also don't think that
he when he's right about to give his decision. I
don't think that Jim Gray is going to cut in
and say, are you still a nail biter? Like I don't.
I don't think that is going to be part of
his decision in front of in front of kids while

(02:16:02):
people burn his jersey in Cleveland. I don't think that's
gonna happen. I also, I also don't think he's gonna
do another John Ramo show, not because he doesn't want to,
but I just don't think John would let him have
the definitely not um. Also, Kauai doesn't strike me as
a snapchatter. No you no like Draymond Green snapchatter. That's clear,
we all remember that story. Well, Kawhi Leonard doesn't doesn't

(02:16:24):
strike me as somebody who's gonna take it to snapchat
in order to to make his announcement. Man, there's so
many different ways where he could do it, but you
try to figure out which way that he he won't
do it. Man, I'm running out, Eric Roberts, you've got
anything for me? Any anyways that Kawai Leonard is not
going to announce, I'm gonna go with he's not gonna

(02:16:44):
announce it via FaceTime, Via FaceTime. I don't think he's
gonna do any kind of live video stream. No. Um,
you know, athletes left to you know, fire up the
Instagram live videos nowadays. Dan, you're a game show guy,
you know where he's definitely not gonna do it. You're
not gonna see Kauai Leonard with goals and some cheap
elbow and knee pads as he tries to pull a
contract out of a giant nose on Double Dare. All right,

(02:17:07):
that is that's not going to happen. I watched an
episode of Double Dare the other day with my wife,
and they had six flags with one second left, and somehow,
I don't know, I think I was holding onto the
one second, but they got both of them and then
they yeah what they grabbed it out of the nostril
and then took it off the pancakes chocolate and you know,

(02:17:29):
oh yeah, Sunday slide was impossible if he took one
step on the the the ice cream or whip cream
whatever they had going up the slot, and then they
gave you a little bike, a little tricycle to where
you had to ride the tricycle and the slop that
was that was always very challenging. Yeah, he's not gonna
do it on Double dare. I can assure you that's
not happened. And he won't do it at Summer League.
You won't show up in a pair of shorts with

(02:17:49):
the Raptors, Lakers or Clippers. And as John Ramos mentioned
to us earlier, no Janice for the Bucks. Today in
Summer League, Philadelphia also played without Joel Embii. Damn it,
I had the over. Yeah, there goes that bad. Yep, yep, yep.
Didn't see him. Didn't see him at all. Um Dan
Buyer Jonas Knox in for Doug Gottlieb here on Fox
Sports Radio. You can always check out the show on

we'll have that for you next. Fox Sports Radio has

to listen live. Appreciate it, Isaac, it is the Doug
Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio. He's Jonas Knox,
that's Gener Ramos. I'm Dan Buyer sitting in for Doug.
You know, I thought about this the Isaac was mentioning
the All Star Game and the replacements there, and we've
got the Home Run Derby on Monday. You know, the
NHL would have their skills competition and would do the

(02:18:53):
you know, fastest shot. Yeah. I know that no teams
would want their pictures to do it, but how great
would it be to see fat to pitch, to see
a couple of relievers go out there to see you
could clock one oh four, one oh five like that?
You want to make a weekend really more interesting or
downtime during the Home Run Derby because guys are doing

(02:19:14):
stuff that would be something that I would like to see.
And look, they've got a couple of extra days rest,
and you just you want to see a guy throws
so hard, not worrying about pitch count, not worrying about location,
throwing so hard he doesn't have to even be on
a mound that his arm literally comes off his Torso,

(02:19:35):
I mean, you want to see that just to see
how how what you're capable of. You're not worried about
how much you have left in the tank, just arm
just flying after he throws like one ten. That's imagine
that pitch, Like that's that's something Dan. I just think
there would be drama of waiting to see what the

(02:19:57):
gun says and seeing the pitch. And I know it's
it's very difficult for the for the eye, the human
eye to see what the difference between ninety nine and
one oh four is, But the revealing of the pitch
I think would be pretty entertaining. Just we had speed
pitch at our fair for so many years. You know
where you're then you have to guess, and yeah, I
mean like that was always fun, like what's your buddy throw?

(02:20:20):
I was I don't have an arm at all, so
I was the worst at it. But to see what
you could, you know, throw on the speed gun. Those
things that fairs, by the way, deadly accurate, no doubt
about it. From town to town. The the NFL did
this forty yards of gold. Did you see that where
they had a bunch of guys around the didn't show up.
That's I mean in the NFL probably thinks, all right,

(02:20:41):
I think we're onto something. No, no, no, you were
onto something. It's called the quarterback competition from years ago.
I want to see a football with blue chalk at
the tip, and I want to see you throw moving targets.
And I'm not asking for a lot. I want to
see Steve de Bergh in a knee brace and Zuba's
I'm not asking for a lot. Seriously, enough with the
forty yards, invite the quarterbacks to Honolulu and let's do

(02:21:03):
this every single year. The problem is is they'd still
do it. The problem is is it's during Pro Bowl
week when nobody is paying attention. You need to have
it this weekend where it's quarterback skills jelly yeah, and
then re air it. Yeah. Absolutely Here tell me quarterbacks
around the NFL wouldn't be up for a free trip
to Hawaii to go. I mean, you're making them play
the Pro Bowl in in Orlando nowadays. Send them to Hawaii,

(02:21:27):
all thirty two starting quarterbacks in the NFL, and let's
do this. I want to see, uh, you know, the
skills competition where they're throwing the ball against those moving targets.
What were some of the other ones, Like you had
to hit a certain uh didn't didn't like you had
to throw through a tire, accuracy like speed, throwing the
ball on the move. I think it'd be a lot

(02:21:47):
of fun. But for some reason, they're just scared to
put that back together again. Taking note, just making a
TV show throw it on in July. It would be
a great way for us to get ready for the
NFL season, right right, And that's where we right now,
as we are ready for some football in the NFL,
in college college football for that matter, as well. I
would suffice with that. Jonas and I throughout these last

(02:22:08):
couple of days have given you reasons why we need
football back in our lives. Our final segment of doing
this happens now. So all right, yeah, there is uh,
there's there's a lot of things that make me want
to have football back, one of which are crappy Major
League Baseball hats and uniforms. And I'm not talking about

(02:22:29):
the bad look of the All story. I'm not a
fan of this year's All Star uniforms. When I'm talking
about are honoring the nineteen eleven Cincinnati Reds. Look at
no one is alive from the nineteen eleven team. I
know that the uniforms may look cool for a game,
but let's be a little bit creative where some you know,
big red machine stuff. You don't need to wear throwbacks

(02:22:51):
that are more than a hundred years old. I don't
like it when the NFL doesn't with like sixty years
ago and seventy years ago. If you want to have throwbacks,
you want to do it to a time that you remember,
and I think the Major League Baseball just does it over.
If we had football, I wouldn't be paying attention to
the uniforms. Yeah, I agree. Here's the other one. Um,
no more Lebron talk, like just the just the whole

(02:23:13):
to not have to hear Lebron, Lebron, Lebron. We have
been inundated with Lebron talk. And let's all remember that
was a bad basketball team and he missed what like
twenty games or whatever it was. It's just it's too much.
I'm over it. I've got Lebron fatigue. So we need
the NFL. We need college football back a SAP. You

(02:23:35):
know what else I can can do away with in
the NBA? Meaningless trades? Yeah, I guess what. Chandler Parsons
on the move for two second rounders and uh, this
guy in the don have the first. So it's some
protected and then they're all clearing salary, who cares, don't
even market down as a transact and just say all right,

(02:23:56):
these people are gone, like I am, I am, I
am done with stuff, as you know when they're when
they are, there are deals done, and guys aren't going
to play a minute for that team. Then you hear
I think you could really I think you'll really help
out the Magic. You're gonna buy him out, Dan, I
think I think he's gonna really help the Magic. Well,
they're gonna cut him in four days, so don't even
worry about it. Just move along. I could do away

(02:24:17):
with those. Here's also why we need the NFL and
college football back hope. Look in the NBA, we've been
talking about it, Dan. In the n b A outside
of like four or five teams. You don't actually think
your team's got a chance, do you know? You don't
actually believe that your team's got a shot to win
a title. In the NFL, every single year a team
that was nowhere the year before ends up in the

(02:24:39):
big dance. And sometimes they get hot and they start rolling.
I e. The Philadelphia Eagles, who really started getting rolling.
I just think if I am the NFL and college football,
you provides now not so much college football. It's really
Alabama and Clempson everybody else. But you still have your
rivalries and stuff like that in the big ten sec

(02:24:59):
packed of all that that are a lot of fun.
So there it is reasons why we missed the NFL
and college football so much. I can't believe I saw
a tweet. Well it was in July one, but the
Rose Bowl sent it out that we're closer to the
you know, the next Rose Ball than we want were
of the previous one. And it just seems like yesterday
that Ohio State in Washington were playing in Pasadena. Also, Dan,

(02:25:21):
this is another another situation here that needs to be
discussed right now. There is one thing that is near
and dear to Dan's heart. That is football. Related. All right,
it is football related. I think this actually without people
knowing it is the biggest reason why we need the
NFL and college football back, right. Would you like to

(02:25:41):
hear it, Dan, Yeah, let's hear it. Well you will
next it is the Gottlieb Show. No Doug today though
he was in for Colin Cowherd on The Herd. So
you've got myself, Dan Buyer, along with Jonas Knocks and
John Ramos hanging out with you. Still awaiting that Kauai
Leonard decision. Big weekend as the Women's World Couple have
its final. You'll see it on Fox Sunday morning, the

(02:26:03):
Americans taking on the Dutch Netherlands in the finals. Excuse me,
the final? Gotta get that correct? You gotta just like
the Stanley Cup final, NBA finals, but the World Cup
final coming up on Sunday morning. I'll probably take it
a little golf in, a little Wimbledon tomorrow as well
as we await Kawhi Leonard's decision and Jonas prepping for

(02:26:23):
the fantasy football season that's coming. All right now, you
are for those that that we're not aware, you have
been the Fox Sports Radio Fantasy Football show host The
past couple of years. Um, when is it too early
to do a fantasy draft? And when is it too late?
I know the obvious well after the first week, but
for you too late as well. Yeah, so you know,

(02:26:46):
Mike Harmon and I have done it for the last
four years. Mike was you know here even before myself.
But we try to do a special preview show. We
do that around let's just say, like August twenty three August,
And the reason for that is I think that's the
prime time because that's where you're also getting the third

(02:27:09):
week of preseason, so the starters aren't going to be
playing in the final preseason. That's a good weekend to
have it if you want to get the buddies together,
get everybody to have some football on. If you're able
to do that, not just do an online draft, you
can actually see meaningful players. And it also allows you
at least enough time if there is an injury in
preseason to plan for it. I would say nothing. I

(02:27:33):
I don't like if if you could do it first
of all in person, if you could get everybody together,
that is the best way possible. And if you have
to do it earlier because of that, then that's just
one of the things that you have to deal with.
But I would say anything before in August tenth date
is just it's too early. I'm fascinated though, to see

(02:27:53):
because what do we hear about the NFL all the time,
copycat league. It's a copycat league, all right. If it's
a copycat league, how many teams are going to sit
there starters the entire preseason because it worked well for
the Rams. I mean, Todd Gurley still ended up getting
banged up, which I believe happened early in the season,
if I'm not mistaken, maybe week two they were talking
about when that when his knee injury was originally took place.

(02:28:16):
Maybe Week one. But how many teams are going to
take that approach to where we're not playing anybody in
the preseason. And if that's the case, I think that
kind of makes it a little bit more difficult as
far as looking at your fantasy team, because you don't
know if guys are actually getting reps in the preseason
and they're legitimate players, or just because they need somebody

(02:28:37):
to do because their starters aren't playing. Yeah, there's there's
always going to be a team where somebody gets hurt
with an injury, if something happens in practice or or
in camp or in that preseason game. If maybe you
have a draft on a Saturday and unfortunately there's something
on a Sunday. But your point, there are multiple teams
that are looking at that Rams blueprints of not playing
guys at all. And if you remember, the Rams came

(02:28:59):
out a little August and they're opener against the Raiders
last year in the first half, but by the second
half they were fine. That so that so that ended
up taking care of everything, at least for taking Girl's
injury out of it. Golf was fine, the receivers were fine,
they were able to get their legs here, and Donald
was fine, and there there wasn't an issue after that.

(02:29:19):
The the the thing about having a fantasy football draft
too late. The issue that I have if and opening
week is Week one begins with the Packers and Bears
on September five, that Thursday night came. If you have
it September three, there's no build up, there's no excitement
for your team. And and that is something that I like.

(02:29:40):
I like to have it the year the week before
so you have some leeway and looking at your team
that's what's always exciting for me. And I like to
do it on a weekend as well, because then when
you're done, maybe you've got some downtime, maybe the wife
went to bed, maybe the kids are asleep, and you're like, Okay,
let me see who I drafted in the tenth round.
Let's see what they're saying about him, because realistically, you're

(02:30:01):
not able to look at everything that is being said
about the players you draft. I like to soak in
my team a little bit, and so I don't like
to have it forty eight hours before the opening of
the NFL season. I just think that's too much of
a crunch, like the savor your fantasy team and see
in the league who's doing well. And by the way,
the most controversial I didn't even want to call it

(02:30:21):
a hot take because I think that's uh. That's people
who just to diminish opinions and call them hot takes
when they don't have a response or anything to say
back towards it or an argument in the other direction.
But the most controversial comments made on this show, and
there's one that stands out above all outs, and it's
not me saying that Chick fil A is overrated, which
I which I wholeheartedly. Uh. It is the fact that

(02:30:43):
Tan Buyer has Kyler Murray ranked ahead of Drew Brees
in his Fantasy football rankings. I I was doing the
rankings and as I was, I like to type them out.
Some people do it free hand and then I so
I'm typing them out and I've got my list, and
I just feel with where the Saints want to go

(02:31:03):
and who they want to be. When you look at
where Arizona is, worst case scenario for Arizona is that
they're getting slaughtered by everybody they play in. Their defense
doesn't stop anyone, and that allows Kyler Murray to pick
up garbage time stats where maybe if he's having a
rough time of it, he's going to be running the ball.

(02:31:24):
If if the offense isn't able to sustain drives, early
teams are gonna get up. So Arizona is always playing
in catchup mode. If things work out well for the
Arizona Cardinals, that Kyler Murray is doing what Kyler Murray
was brought in to do. So I just look at
the the upside of Kyler Murray and what he does.
Now there is the question about him lasting the whole
season and behind the Cardinals offensive line. But when you

(02:31:46):
see what Drew Brees did, came off a year where
he threw thirty two touchdowns and five interceptions through for
under four thousand yards last year. So like the So
the yardage totals for a guy who hadn't done that
since he was in San Diego, that to me as
a sound and annoy didn't play all sixteen games. He
ends up not not playing I believe week seventeen of
the season, where it would have put him over four thousand.

(02:32:08):
But that's still a pretty low number. And to count
on touchdowns always being there, very very tricky when it
comes to quarterback. And look when you just I'll paint
the picture for you. Music City miracle. Alright, Sorry, Eric
Roberts bringing up our only Bills fan in the entire country,
Eric Roberts, um Bills Titans, music City Miracle. The Bills

(02:32:30):
lose on that heartbreaking play Fluke just one of the
most unbelievable plays that you've ever heard of. Um, what
have the Bill has done since then? That playoff game? All?
They've had one playoff appearance since then, one the New
Orleans Saints in back to back years, had the Minneapolis
miracle and then had the past interference, which wasn't called

(02:32:52):
it's It's hard enough to lose catastrophically one year and
come back to the same spot or better than next,
But when you do it two years in a row,
what are the odds that things are just gonna go
their way this year and they're gonna be right back
to that same spot again with an aging quarterback. I
think it's gonna be a down year for New Orleans,
I really do. I think that there's a good chance
you don't see either team from the NFC Championship game

(02:33:13):
in the playoffs next season. I could see that. Yeah.
I think that the Rams have a hangover as well,
considering how bad the end of their season occurred. Yeah,
how about that, John Ramos? Your Rams? That's it? That's
Is that a fraud or a misdirection? John Ramos? I
just want to know for sure,
