Up America, Doug Gottleap Show, Fox Sports Radio. The Dug
Gotlip Show is brought to you by Discover Card. We
treat you like you'd treat you. I hope you're doing great.
It's a beautiful day in sunny southern California. And if
you watch this on Instagram or on our digital feed,

(00:51):
I am wearing a shirt um My boys. At nine,
I saw they put this out to Jacksonville Dolphins T
shirt Jacksonville Dolphins. My dad in the mid seventies, nine
seventy three through nineteen seventy five was the head coach
of JU Jacksonville University. So I saw this shirt and

(01:13):
I was like, hey man, can I get one of those?
I get two of those, one from me, one from
my brother. They sent it to me and Today's November
is the fifth anniversary of my dad's passing. UM. Today's
show is obviously about sports. We'll talk about the Colts
and they're close loss yesterday last night. We'll talk about

(01:35):
the Packers, the Cowboys, the Patriots, the Eagles, maybe a
little bit about there. He is about upcoming quarterbacks and
outgoing quarterbacks. UM, but I would physically not be here
today if not from my father, and literally not be

(01:58):
here as well is theoretically not be here. My dad
was a basketball coach but a huge sports fan. In
the early days of sports radio in southern California, he
was my au coach. We used to drive all around
Southern California, picking kids up going to practice, taking them home,
and we would listen to Ley Hawk, saw Hamilton's I

(02:22):
Want to Talk sports with you, pow Way and Escondido
give me a call. We would read three or four
newspapers USA Today, l A Times, Orange County Edition, Orange
Counton Register, and for a short time, the greatest sports
newspaper ever, the National Sports Daily. You gotta be old school,

(02:45):
remember the National Man? Do they collect him? It was
basically the Athletic in print form, and we'd pass them
around and talk about sports and talk about have opinions
on things that we might have known and probably nothing about.
And one of the things that sports fans talk about

(03:09):
is the big what if. Right five years ago, my
dad passed seventeen years ago. Seventeen years ago, my dad
had an exhibition team. These teams used to travel around
the country and play against the Vision One schools. We
had season tickets to u c l A basketball for

(03:31):
at least a decade, if not more. My brother and
sister went there. My dad was close to the coaching staff,
and um I decided to turn down a scholarship for
u c l A to go to Notre Dame. When
I left Notre Dame, I did in fact want to

(03:51):
I did want to go back and play at u
c l A. And they smartly recruited Baron Davis over me.
And Baron Davis isn't unbelievable player. I can't really argue
with that. So seventeen years ago, my Branch West exhibition
team beat u c l A. At the time, this

(04:12):
is November two thousand two. At the time, it was
the worst home loss in the history of u c
l A. At Polly Pavilion Building. Was like fifty years old.
We smacked him. My dad was the coach and I
was the player, and when we walked off the floor,
it was an unbelievable moment to share with your father.

(04:34):
My dad had been a head coach at Jacksonville, w
Milwaukee and assistant Kansas State and assistant Oregon State and
assistant Long Beach State. That brought us out here for
a long time. Um, there was some flirtations with Walt Hazard,
who was the coach, and then Jim Herrick about maybe
joining his staff because he did have a really good
au program to land players. He was a recruiter as
a basketball coach, and I'm sure that he walked off

(04:56):
that court thinking what if? What if I had ever
gotten one of these jobs? What if I had been
on staff here at u c l A. And of course,
even though my career at Oklahoma State worked out great,
got my degree, played in three n c A termans,
played for legendary coach. I'm now on the board of Governors.
I met my wife there, I have so many friends.
There is the what if, all right, what if I

(05:19):
had gone to u c l A and warn the
Blue and Gold? How would my life be different. Would
I be in the NBA instead of playing some exhibition
tour against U C. L A And Wichita State and
lamar Right? What if is not just a big part
of life? What if is a part of sports? Aren't

(05:42):
the Colts team? What if? Alright? I'm watching last night
and sure, Adam Vinitary appears to be past his prime.
He's cost them a couple of games. Charge of game
to start the year. He blew the game, probably three
games this year. They would have could have one if
their kicker wasn't a fossil. He's a great all time kicker,

(06:08):
but he's over the hill. It's the only possible explanation
for how a great all time kicker can become so erratic.
But the biggest one if is what if and reluctant retire? Right?
Like this show became the center of the Andrew Luck
retiring story. But what's lost in the Andrew Luck retiring

(06:33):
story is he probably left the Super Bowl team. They
got a young, fast, defense, they got some talented wide receivers,
a talented tight end, they got a running game. They
have an awesome offensive line that's been rebuilt to protect him.
And think about and that's not bad He's not terrible,
He's just not great. I mean, look at these offensive numbers,

(07:00):
which a Coby Bridge set and Brian Hoyer their third
and rushing, eighth in third down conversion, fourth in time
possession on offense, seventh in red zone scoring offense, and
the all time what ifs, all time what ifs, I
give you the Annapolis Colts. The Colts this year are

(07:21):
the Patriots. What was the year that Tom Brady was hurt?
Two eight? Like, here's a part of the Tom Brady story,
which I feel like I'm the only one who tells you.
And when they go back and think, you know, they
do the football life this week in the football life,
they'll talk about there was a decade where Tom Brady
didn't win a Super Bowl, but part of that decade

(07:43):
they went to a Super Bowl against the Giants sixteen
and o, two and oh in the playoffs eight teen
no total. The very next year, with a team that
had said all time records, quarterback that had thrown fifty
touchdown passes, Randy Moss in his prime, Tom Brady in
his prime, an elite level defense that had been through
and shredded the entire league, they still went eleven and

(08:06):
five without Brady the two eight January two nine Patriots.
We're an all time what if team? Before this Indianapolis
Colts all time wif team? You go eleven and five
with Matt Castle as your quarterback? What would you do

(08:27):
with Tom Brady is your quarterback? A young Tom Brady
in his prime, fresh off of throwing fifty touchdown passes
and getting to a Super Bowl. So I remember, man,
I remember so many different things about life with my

(08:49):
father playing for him, the things that he taught us,
the challenges that he laid down to live up to
and exceed your potential. He was somebody who was an
interesting and complex dude. Um, But I can tell you
that there's nothing like having somebody who above all else

(09:11):
believes in you and believes in your talent the special
thing to have. And it wasn't. I didn't believe just
because I was his son. Although I'm sure there's some
of it. Now, there's the downside to that, right and everybody,
and I'm sure any of you who didn't have a dad,

(09:32):
or don't have a mom, or don't have somebody who
is your advocate who believes in you above all else,
you're sitting there going like, man, what a blessing, and
it was. There's also the curse to it, which is
trying to live up to that. And now when he's gone,
figuring out have I lived up to his expectations? And
is it a bad thing to have lofty goals and

(09:53):
lofty expectations? Right? Some people think, well, your dad thinking
you're the greatest, that's everybody's dad. No, he really didn't think.
He believed he knew. But today's show though completely about sports.
You've lost your dad. Your dad is sick, your dad
as well. Let me just encourage you. Let me share

(10:17):
with you from the guy who has lived it. My
dad was not well. He had cancer and had spread
to his brain. They had they had stopped the treatments
because once it spreads to your brain, they have to
stop the clinical treatments. We were on our way a day.
A day later we were supposed to leave and come

(10:38):
stay with them for Thanksgiving, Me and my brother, my sister,
all our kids coming down, and we got a call
that he had suffered a brain bleed and we I
immediately flew out. He never regained consciousness, but we were
there holding his hand when they turned off the turned
off the plus. Really really, it's the hardest thing you
ever gonna do in your life. So what I tell friends,

(10:59):
and I will tell you now is don't be afraid
during this holiday season. Forget about telling your parents or
telling your loved one that you love them. Tell them
why you love them, what specifically about them that makes

(11:20):
you think of them fondly, Because I know you love
them even when you hate them, then you love them.
But it's the special things about you and you and
you and me that resonate with people. And if you
don't share those things, maybe they don't know if those

(11:43):
things resonated or what about you resonates. I'd love to
have one more conversation, So if you have it this
holiday season, whatever bygones are, make them bygones. Whoever hatchets
bury them, because five years later, when they're gone, they're

(12:04):
still gone. You can talk to them, you can feel them.
That can be a part of every day and everything
you do or nothing that you do. But what you
can't do is pick up the phone and call them.
What you can't do is see them and discuss things,
and discuss life and discuss what you what you think
of them in person. I had a shot a couple

(12:25):
of years later my uncle who has since passed, and
I took my own advice and my heart feels clear
because of it. So I'm not going to go into
super sad Gottly mode. I will only point out that
on a daylight today, let me share with you my
feelings and my thoughts on my father, who I missed

(12:47):
very much today. And one it's that there's nothing like
a person who completely and totally believes in you and
pushes you, but pushes you because they think you have
something special inside of you. And two, spend those special
moments over this holiday season telling people how and why

(13:08):
you feel about them. All right up next to forty
Niners and Packers face off on Sunday, I'll tell you
why this game could change everything for one of these
teams that's next. Be sure to catch the live edition
of The Doug Gottlieb Show weekdays at three p m.
Easter noon Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I
Heart Radio app Doug Gotlip Show, Fox Sports Radio. What

(13:30):
do you guys think of Aaron Rodgers PERSONA coward? Obviously
not a fan? Not a fan? Um I obviously am,
but I you know I like Look, every guys are different.
Some people really like the Russell Wilson thing. The odd
g shucks were just so fortunate and blessed to be here.

(13:51):
Oh man, jeez o Pete right, Todd feels like? Does
feel like? Do you like to Aaron Rodgers persona because
I have a feeling that this is the ultimate Aaron
Rodgers Sunday. Um, there are there are some games in

(14:14):
the NFL which will rate and everyone will watch and
we'll be fascinated by and my expectations are to be
played at a much higher level than other regular season games.
The Sunday night game was supposed to be Seattle Philadelphia.
That's Russell Wilson. Philadelphia is a Super Bowl champion two

(14:34):
years ago. Carson Wentz would have been the m v
P in that year. Those are big name, big market.
That's a big market in Philadelphia. Green Bay not a
big market, but kind of there. One b to America's team,
which is the Cowboys. They rate against the Niners. Huge
name that was flexed out or flexed in. Aaron Rodgers

(14:56):
is from Northern California. Aaron Rodgers drew up a Niners fan.
Aaron Rodgers emulated and loved Joe Montana and the Niners
had the number one overall pick when Aaron Rodgers was
coming out of cal and they took Alex Smith instead,
and Alex Smith eventually led them to an NFCY Championship game,
if not for two fumbles on special teams, could have

(15:19):
led them to a Super Bowl. But there's a ceiling
there with Alex Smith and eventually they moved on for
Colin Kaepernick. Meanwhile, Aaron Rodgers had to sit there in
the green room till the four pick go to Green Bay,
where Brett Farve didn't want him there and he didn't
play his first three years there. And now with one

(15:41):
of his best teams he's ever had, he has a
chance to go into San Francisco and not just get
a win. I think about this when a win on
the road and the Packers would be the number one
seed in the NFC. Head to head wins over the Niners,
also a tiebreaker over the Saints. The Packers believe or

(16:02):
not have the best strength of victory out of all
the current playoff teams. Second the NFL, by the way,
the Browns are number one. That's because the Browns beat
the Ravens. That was a big win that the Browns
head and beating the Ravens and the Steelers. Also Sunday
Night football. And I've said this, but I'd like streaming
into the wind. I get Lamar Jackson's probably gonna win

(16:24):
the m v P, but it's not because he's actually
the m v P. Lamar Jacksons played good football good.
Hasn't played better football than Aaron Rodgers, who has seventeen
touchdowns and two interceptions, nine touchdowns and no interceptions his
last four games, completing nearly seventy of his passes and
eight point eight yards per tempt. He's not dinking and

(16:46):
dunking and Sam Bradford it where you just get rid
of it on a one step drop. No, no, no,
He's still Aaron Rodgers. He's just crazy good Aaron Rodgers.
Oh and for the most part, he was doing it
without his best pass catching threat. I know that the
media and fans love Lamar Jackson, and I think a

(17:10):
good portion of why they love Lamar Jackson we do.
We like to like the option. It's fun, we love
the college style. It's fun. But also it's there was
enough people saying hand of Lamar Jackson's quarterback long term
in the NFL to where somehow validating it by the
m V peak becomes more important than who's actually the
best quarterback and having the best season. Pat Mahomes is

(17:33):
having a better year. Yes, he missed three games, but
he's having a better year. He's more impactful throughout the
entirety of the season. Russell Wilson's having a better year.
And Aaron Rodgers is definitely having a bed year in
a better year. And if you want to talk about
wins and losses, like, yeah, look, Lamar Jackson does have

(17:53):
uh one less win and one more loss. Lamar Jackson
also has run the benefit of playing the Bengals, who
suck twice. I don't use the word suck very often.
I don't think it's a very nice thing to say.
I tell my kids not to say it. Some teams
stink and some teams suck. The Cincinnati Bengals suck. They're terrible,

(18:14):
and he's beating the Miami Dolphins also s word. Arizona
Cardinals second week of the season s word. Meanwhile, Packers
have played a difficult schedule number two in strength of wins,
and if they win there the number one seed in
the NFC, and that would be a road win over
the San Francisco forty Niners, who just so happened to
be the franchise he wanted to play for in the

(18:35):
city that he wanted to play Doing so with the
Green Bay Packers the first year head coach. One win
would change everything because we started to go, hey, you know,
Aaron Rodgers might actually be better than Lamar Jackson this year.

(18:56):
Of course he is even Aaron Rods. We're not paying
attention to the fact that he is trying to promote
Aaron Jones as the m v P is Like, Nah,
I'm good. Nobody thinks Aaron Jones is the m v P.
Twelves the m v P. It's the best quarterback in football.
Finally got a bit of a defense. Is the defense great? No,
it doesn't have to be great because you have Aaron

(19:17):
freaking Rogers. Is the the offense is working? Is the
offense great? No, you don't have to be great, You've
got Aaron freaking Rogers. But when the offense is good
and well thought out and challenging to him and challenging
the defenses, And when the defense is good, did that
be great and challenging to others. Now of a sudden
you give your chance self a chance to win the
whole thing. Be sure to catch the live edition of

(19:39):
The Doug Gottlieb Show weekdays at three p m. Easter noon, Pacific.
Doug gottlip Show, Fox Sports Radio. It's welcome to Will Blackman, who,
of course you can hear on Fox Sports Radio every
Sunday morning, nine am Eastern six of the Pacific alongside
Mike harm It's great show. You wake up in the
morning and you want to know more about the NFL
than you probably should because this dude played eleven season

(20:00):
in the league for the Packers, the Giants, Jaguars, and
the Redskins. Will I want to ask you about the
Packer game. Um, do you believe Aaron Rodgers is playing
his best football right now? Um? I want to. I
want to say I believe he is. Uh and the
fact that uh having a limited Davante Adams, UM, I

(20:22):
would say, though there has been a great emergence of
Aaron Jones, that's something that's something that Aaron has. I
can't really say he's ever really had a back like
that that is very uh successful running and receiving the football.
To ask somebody like that. I think the closest thing
to to we had who we had to something like
that was probably Randall cop you know where Randa Copp

(20:45):
were going back to it sometimes and obviously it was
a really important receiver for them. So I would say
right now, just overall as a team, Um, they're playing
pretty good football. Um. And I you know, I think
where Brian Glutts done has done in terms of getting
the Smith Brothers has been one of the best acquisitions.
Um this past offseason, no question about it. How do

(21:06):
they match up with the Niners? I mean it does
feel like if there's a way to beat the Niners,
you gotta run the football because their their defensive line
is so designed to get after the passers. That a
fair that that Aaron Jones becomes even more important now
because you gotta run it in order to keep them
off balanced. Yeah, that's very very true. Um. I think
right now you continue to put the pressure on Jimmy

(21:27):
g You know, I think the journy is still out
in terms of what he can do effectively. You know. Um,
I mean there are there have been times where, I
know the Seattle game, his receivers have dropped the ball
for him, but it's I think it's still I think
the journey is still out. You know, can he really
truly take over? And you know versus a really good
team like Green Bay? Um, Green Bay, Yeah, you have

(21:49):
to run the ball effectively. But once again saying that's
what Floyd and I is doing and Matt right, Ma
Breta is not doing well health wise, and hopefully Colma
can get it going for them. Uh, this Sunday, So
it's gonna be really intriguing MATCHU. I'm sure is gonna
be motivated coming back, coming back, you know California. Um,
it's gonna be an exciting matchup. Will Blackman joining us
Doug gotlip show here on Fox Sports Radio. Let me

(22:12):
ask you about last night. UM, I watched the Colts
and I think their team what if right, obviously, then
Terry has blown a couple of games for them. What
if he was a couple of years younger, but the
big one if his What if they had Andrew Luck.
I think Jacoby Brissett's a good starting quarterback, could be
starting quarterback for a long time in the league, but
he's not Andrew Luck. Is it? Do you find yourself

(22:36):
watching and going like man, and Andrew Luck decided to
play one more year, might have won a super Bowl.
If I said anything about Andrew Luck, I think he
would have broken that cackle and gotten the first down
at the end of the game. Yeah, when bt like,
like I couldn't Bressett. Brissette ran in a bunch in
college and then he when he was with the Patriots

(22:56):
at one start. You know, he ran it some, but god,
it took him a while. He he is a big dude.
I mean, he's a big dude. I was surprised he
didn't get that first down. Yeah. It's it's funny because
watching that game, I felt like I was watching of
a mirror image of the teams earlier in the game,
you know, um in terms of what was going on.
But you just man, once again, I don't mean to

(23:17):
change teams with It's something about DeShawn Watson man in
terms of like just just what he what he can do. Man,
It's just he has he has that, you know where
especially I don't I don't know if I can find
another quarterback that can go on that team, that Texas
team and does what he does. I agree with you, Like,
I look, I think people think it's hating on Lamar
and I know they just Lamar's team just beat him.

(23:39):
But like, I don't think the Texas are very good
and look at all all of their wins are one
touchdown or less wins, and that's quarterback play. Deshaun Watson
has that find a way to win category and he
runs it less than he used. Like, I think they're
winning is a great deal because of Deshaun Watson. Harders
like in terms of like, yeah, the m v P,

(24:00):
the NFL, yes, Lamar, but the true most valuable player
to anyone's team it is the Shawn Watson because if
he is not there, they are in shambles. Um, But yeah,
I don't mean a chance. But back to Jacobe, Yeah,
it's tough to see. But you know they're they're a
good team overall. And I think right now, um, because

(24:20):
they're young and they're done with a lot of injuries.
You know, the depth comes into question about the Coats.
But when when they're at full strength, they are a really,
really good football team, even with Jacobe at quarterback. And
that's kind of what we got teased about earlier in
the year when they were at full strength. Well, Blackman
joining us Doug Gotlib show here on Fox Sports Radio. Um,

(24:41):
Mohammed Sanu is out, and the Patriots already have struggles
in terms of skill position players. Do they have the
talent to beat the Cowboys? They have, they have the
talent man defensively, but I think it's gonna be such
one of those games where they're they're gonna have to
really really use the runner back in the passing game. Um.

(25:03):
And and that's one thing that the Patriots have always
been good at. They've been good at, uh, find find
the mismatches. Every single week the game plan is different.
You're not going to get the same thing. And that's
from experience playing against them and studying them. Like every
week is going to be different. So I think it's
really important for them to to try to get the matches.
I heard that. I think vander Es is out this week,

(25:24):
I believe. Um. So yeah, just to just to try
to make these running back I mean, long as these
linebackers cover in space and move, you know, and and
that's that's gonna be big. Um. And yeah, they're gonna
have to run the ball. And um, once again, you know,
put put this on the defense. But it's like, man, Okay,
it's been on the defense a lot. When is you

(25:46):
know the offense is going to finally, uh take take
care of business. Everybody's waiting, you know, but waiting, waiting, waiting,
waiting for that for that time for the offense to
finally come through, and for them for them to not
have some new and other weapons. That's a big deal.
Will Black, who's backing up trying not hit the car
behind him. You can hear the BPPP beep thing. That's
very well. Allow you to take the breath. Make sure

(26:07):
you pull out or pull into that parking space, he joins. U.
In the Doug Gali Show on Fox Sports Radio, Baltimore
takes on the Rams. Rams are still kind of in
must win. How if you were going to design a
defense to get after Lamar Jackson, how do you do it? Good? Look,
I have no idea, bro um Man. I just feel

(26:27):
like I actually thought about this on the on the
way here, because there's a there's a I saw something
where Jalen was asking vick Orn, how do you stop
someone like Lamar? You know, I just think you you
need to have guys that can truly lockdown man a man.
You know, I just because if you if you go
ahead bliss him, you're trying to keep him in the pocket.

(26:50):
Right now, I mean Mark Mark Andrew is playing as
good as any tight end out there. He's been just constant,
just mismatching, just grown man and guys getting the football.
Uh um. And they just played over a fourth right now.
It's it's really hard because the Ravens in the beginning
of the year, it was like, Okay, the offense is
doing well. When you look at the Ravens, you think
of defense right in the history of football, and the

(27:11):
defense has not been playing until par But now the defense,
like man, they picked up their part. And now, I
mean you saw last week when they dropped forty one
and held the Texans to damn there zero points. Um,
it's a it's a scary, scary football team. So it's
gonna be a big It's a big It's a big
two weeks for football in general when you're talking about
you know, m v P Yse. So for Lamar to

(27:33):
come out all the way out here to the the
West coast and to be on grass, it's gonna be interesting, man. Yea.
Although this time last year he came out to the
West Coast with less experience, and they beat the Chargers,
who ultimately beat them beat them in in the playoffs.
Last team I want to ask you about is the
Atlanta Falcons. How the hell did Atlanta Falcons go from

(27:54):
being terrible to suddenly now two game winning streak. Doesn't
mean I think they're gonna make the playoffs, but they
beat two off teams, right, they beat the Saints on
the road and then they beat the Panthers on the road.
What they'll happen to the Falcons? Man? I said, what
they will happen begain of the year because they were
on my list of the most confusing football team, uh

(28:16):
in the NFL. I understand they had some you know,
key injuries on defense, um where that was a big issue,
but them tightened and the Charges were my three most
confusing teams because all these teams, uh, you know, we're
just you know, you're ready in the playoffs last year.
Um So right now, I have no idea. Maybe maybe

(28:36):
they just found it hard to her. I know Julio
spoke up one time, like man coach. He liked coach Quinn.
He thinks he's a really good coach, and maybe something
happened when the leaders stepped up in guys for like,
hey man, let's let's fight for our jobs or something.
I have no idea what happened in that building, but uh,
these are winners that they shouldn't they should have been having,
you know, especially earlier in the year. So uh, they're
getting it done on all phases. They had a huge

(28:58):
part return the other game, um, which helped tremendously. So
they just find a waste to get it done. As
to lead, you just gotta find ways to win. There's
no really magical recipe awesome stuff. Will black Been check
them out Sunday mornings alongside Mike Harmon. That's at nine
am Eastern time, six am Pacific time, of course, to
believe with the Packers, the Giants and Jaguars and the Redskins.
He he provides you all the insight you could possibly
want and then some. Well, thanks so much for joining

R to listen live Doug out Lipshell rolls on Fox
Sports Radio Music. You're just in here and now you
want to ask me some much? You ask me when
you're just in here, Because Doug, I think I have
an issue with you right now. Oh we feels like
I'm gonna be sold out since you're selling me up.
We have talked at length about how great Jack Ryan
has been and I haven't watched it. Unbelievable. Well you've

(30:04):
you've you have started a new show without finishing the
obligations of a show that you were already fully in on.
That's not actually accurately not accurate. No, let me let
me explain a little bit here. Okay. Um, first of all,
Star Wars is my first love. A right, I love

(30:26):
Star Wars. I just I love every part of it.
I think it's great. And um, so the Mandalorian is
out and like, look, I'm also not somebody. I'm somebody
who had to be talked into by my wife not
sharing passwords, right, Like I signed up for the Disney
Plus thing and she's like, wait, you you actually paid

(30:47):
for it? Like yeah, really, Yeah, you didn't wait to
get it for free? No, I can't get it for free.
Don't work for that company anymore. You're not like sharing
a password. No. So some of this is about, hey,
if you're gonna pay, and I'm paying like thirteen dollars
because I'm also getting the sports part of it, the ESPN,
and then there's the Hulu as well, so I get

(31:08):
all three. Some of it is just about return on investment,
whereas we've had Amazon forever. Jack Ryan is uh, that's
Clancy novels, and I've read a bunch of them. I
love it. Second season is better than the first? Is it? Really? Yeah? Really?
I do like it? Um, but I felt like one

(31:31):
Mandalorian is hot, right, like I do have some other
Star Wars geeks who can talk about it with me. Two,
there's a return on investment thing. In three, there's only
three episodes. This is just the third. It's coming out
once a week, so I will get to Jack Ryan.
I have travels. I go tomorrow, I do a game
in Vegas s M R un l V, and then
Sunday I have the College Basketball Hall of Fame. And

(31:53):
I'm so low for those those are Jack Ryan watch Fest,
So I still have some some some time there. Let's
get you to Dan buy Er, Dan what he got big?
This is game time side on the Doug Gottlieb Show.
I got a game, Doug though. That game is psychic, alright, psychic.

(32:17):
Will the Indianapolis Colts make the NFL playoffs? They're at
six and five right now, a game back of the
Texans in the division. You've got the Bills and they
just lost the Texans. Yes, got the Raiders at six
and four. The Steelers and Titans are at five and five,
so they have Titans next at home with extra couple

(32:39):
of days, Buccaneers in the road, Saints on the road,
Panthers at home at Jaguars. I believe they will finish
at minimum three and two. Um, I mean, you want
to talk about a heartbreak? City Steelers by two, Dolphins
they lost to by four. Raiders they lost to so
they lose the head to head to the Raiders, and
of course they lost the Chargers and they missed all
those kicks three field goals or two field goals an

(33:02):
extra point. UM, I'm gonna say no, they do not. Psychic.
Will the Texans make the a f C championship game.
And I say this because Houston's made the playoffs five
times in their franchise history, always as division champions. They're
owing three in the a f C Divisional playoffs, so
while they have once some wild card matchups, they have

(33:23):
not advanced. Passed around Number two. Will the Texans make
the a f C Championship game this year? No? No,
But new Co Hopkins is awesome and so is Deshaun Watson.
How great was Nuke Nuke catching those two touchdown passing
and hands balled his mom if you know the story
about his mom, who's who's blind? It's just amazing, kind
of amazing that both touchdown passed. We're in that end

(33:44):
zone too. It also seems that when will Fuller is healthy,
they are a different offense. But against better teams. I
don't know how much that helps, you know what I mean, Like,
wouldn't that help? Well? I just it seems that like
in a game against the Colts, where a team that
you're even with, like, okay, Will Fuller is gonna make
a difference, but maybe against a better team against the Patriots,

(34:05):
well yeah, you'd rather have him. Is it really going
to make a difference in stopping. That's I think it's
great for the stats. I think it's great for how
they play on offense. But when the games means something
against teams that may be better than you, I just
don't think that the Texans necessarily show up in those spots. Yeah,
I don't think they're gonna make the SC champions gain
dance here. I think those teams are better than what

(34:25):
will be the best Psychic? What will be the best
NFL game? In Week twelve, we talked about all those
Packers Niners. Oh? Interesting, I think Patriots just gonna run
over the Cowboys. No, actually, the Cowboys win the game. Okay,
geez interesting. Maybe that'll be coming up in the pick
segment as well. Psychic. Will Mitchell Trobiski be pulled in
their games Sunday against the New York Giants? No? Pulled? No?

(34:48):
Will they play Chase Daniel? Yes? Because I think they'll
have a big lead. That's also of okay, alright, Psychic?
Will the Giants hold out se Kwon Barkley for any
of their remaining six games? Barkley earlier this week called
the thought of shutting him down quotes absurd end quotes.
Yes they will, he will have some mysterious injury, thigh contusion,

(35:12):
sore hammy, something that keeps him out. He is the
future of this team. And even though I'm sure he
wants to play one because he likes to play football
and two likes to put up numbers, I'm guessing they'll
hold him out. Alright, Psychic will be Heisman ceremony. Have
any non quarterbacks in attendance that are vying for the award? Okay,

(35:33):
Chuba Hubbard will be invited. Oh interesting, alright, Cuba Hubbard,
Canadian running back Oklahoma State. Obviously that's not who you're
asking about, wasn't. Well, No, I think that usually you
get the top three finishers in voting. And I mean
you could say, all right, Joe Burrow, justin Fields. Jalen
Hurts could also have Juba Hubbard, as he said, maybe,

(35:56):
I mean, like, look, if Chase Young he's got two
weeks now to put on a show, he puts on
a show, he'll be there as well. Psychic will Zion
Williams and make his NBA debut before their Christmas Christmas
Night match up with the Denver Nuggets. No, no, he's
on track. But on track means they'll be very cautious
about it. And this one psychic. We look a little ahead,

(36:18):
but we're not gonna do psychic again before this game
is played. But will Conrie Irving be booed if he plays?
When the Nets traveled to Boston on Wednesday? Irving is
gonna miss his fourth straight game tonight, by the way,
but Celtics GM Danny Ainge telling Celtics fans to not
boo Kyrie when he makes his return to the Garden.
Bill pity for him. You should feed pity for Kyrie

(36:42):
because he left us. I mean he did him a favor,
him a favor they got Kemba cost him less. Fit's
what they're trying to do. More. This is game time
on the Duck Got Leave show. So would you like
me to watch Jack Ryan during the show? Is that
what you want me to do? Like? Tell you what

(37:04):
you watch one episode Ramos, Dan and I will host
next hour? Uh question for you, Dan? What's the most
TV shows you've ever beene? Like, the most shows in
a row you've ever been probably about four or five,
like just straight episodes. Yeah, and you end up you

(37:25):
end up like what what do you remember? What time
in the morning was you know what it is. It's
a wasted afternoon, to be honest. It's starting at noon
and then you're like, it's four thirty five o'clock, Like
what did I just do? That's what it is? Or
it's not even a late night because I get tired,
because you could stay awake and just keep going. What
about you, Ramos, what's the most you've ever watched? I
watched the whole season Game of Thrones one day from

(37:47):
one of them. I have to actually do that. I
knew that, you know what I need to do that.
I need somebody's code. I don't have hurrently. At least
you're honest now, I'm just I'm just just telling you
some people don't understand two things can be true at
the same time on their conflicting reports about New England.
Right now, I'll share with you next in The Doug
Gotlip Show. Be sure to catch the live edition of

(38:07):
The Doug Gottlieb Show weekdays at three p m. Easter
noon Pacific on Fox Sports Radio in the I Heart
Radio Whap What Up Doug Gotlip Show? Fox Sports Radio. Man,
I hope you're having a good day. It is a Friday.
You ain't got none to do. But listen to this
here radio show Doug Otlip Shows brought you by a

(38:28):
Discover Card. We treat you like you would treat you.
We're gonna treat you this hour to John Middleco, former
NFL Scout friend of the program, also three Out podcast hoster,
should be awesome. We'll talk niners and backers. We'll talk
about the Raiders in their playoff hopes. We'll talk about
the Patriots welcoming into Cowboys all right, talk about all

(38:53):
these Houston Texans and whether or not they can finally
climb that mountain in the a f c plaoss. We
got a lot to get to speaking of the Dallas
Cowboys taking on the doing the Patriots. There won't be
a wicked Narista. There will be some rain, I believe
in the forecast, right, is that correct? Foxboro weather, dunt

(39:15):
dunt du du dun dad dad Sunday rain, no snow,
but rain, chance of rain. I'm gonna take it as
it's gonna rain something, right, and the Cowboys are coming
to town, and I do love the uh. You know,

(39:37):
there's the the two parts to it, right, There's the
the movable object against the resistible force. Cowboys defense hasn't
been able to stop anybody. Plus Layton Van Dresh's not
gonna play. Patriots offense lacks skill position players. So you
got a Cowboys defense which has not been strong against

(39:59):
the Patriots offense, which doesn't actually feel like it's that
strong either, move objects, resistible force. Right, then you have
what's the argument against the Cowboys? That the Cowboys can't
beat playoff teams? Right? Is not that we've made that argument.
How can you say the Cowboys are any good when

(40:19):
they can't beat the playoff teams? Yes, you in the back,
Mr gottlieb Uh. What about the Patriots? What playoff teams
have they beaten? Right? I mean they beat the Bills
in Buffalo. I'll be at Josh Allen got a concussion.

(40:40):
Otherwise the Bill is probably win that game. Steelers, no Dolphins,
no Jets, no Giants, no Jets, no Browns, no Eagles.
If they lose this weekend, be below five. The same
argument you can make about the Cowboys. You're like, hey,
Cowboys don't be playoff teams. Des who else doesn't beat
playoff Yes? Mr God, that would be the Patriots. Right now,

(41:06):
they've only lost to one of them. But Cowboys have
lost to three, they've lost one. But you know, we've
added opportunities and we'll see. Here, got right, PATSA Polkes
Texans chiefs in back to back to back weeks. So
we'll see. We'll have plenty of time to take a

(41:26):
breath and we'll see. But we we woke up today
to kind of a new part to this story. Yesterday
we shared it with you that there are reports that
the Patriots had kicked the tires on Antonio Brown. I

(41:48):
love the expression of kicking the tires in the all
time things that don't actually help you judge what a
car does, kicking the tires turning on me here, turn
over a little bit, right, I guess if it's missing,
you can identify that the kicking the tires goes back
to when we had hub caps. Do you guys remember hubcaps?

(42:10):
Have you kicked the tire and the hub cap came
off here, like, I don't know, I don't know. This
is back when they're used cars. Now they're pre owned cars.
Very different, pre owned car completely different than a used car.
You guys realize that, right, Okay, they're not different at all.
But that's okay. But there's two conflicting stories. One Christian Fourier,

(42:34):
who of course uh used to play for the Pats
worked all over and he's like, look, I got people
in the buildings, tell me that kicked the tires in
the Antonio Brown thing. And then there's a story out
that no, they're not bringing in Antonio Brown. Could I
propose a possible Both these stories are in fact true.

(42:57):
The Patriots needs skill position help. Philip Dorset may not play,
Mohammed Sanu is not gonna play. And even if they
do play, they haven't recovered from the loss of Rob
Gronkowski and s new has not been well. Mohammed san
you have three years ago shocker. Feels like the Patriots
got a little bit duped in their trade for the
former Bengal and former Falcon Right. So if we all

(43:23):
believe that the Patriots not only lacks skilled position players,
but no, they need to go out and find skilled
position players, I'm guessing that there's a boardroom somewhere in Foxboro,
at in Patriot Way where they're like, all right, guys,
settle down, settle down, settle down, settled down, al right, guys,

(43:45):
Josh isn't happy TV isn't happy. We gotta find some
dudes out there. You gotta find some dudes, all right.
Bill is never really happy, but he's He and his
son are worried about the defense. So the meaning here
today is more of a brainstorming session. Remember, there are

(44:08):
no bad ideas in a brainstorming session. If you can
think of a skill position player that's out there on
the street, you let me know. Was that? Now? Randy
Moss is too old t o I mean old and
just a problem. Now let's move on, definitely. But Das Bryant, yeah,

(44:36):
he had the Achilles. He wasn't He wasn't athletic too.
You know, before he heard the Achilles, everybody passed. I
don't know, do you guys see this thing where Dez
said he'd like to come back, but not as a starter.
That to me, like, how is Dez Brian say he
he's not a starter? We need a starter, We need

(44:57):
a dude. Hey, yeah, and back? What about Antonio Brown?
I mean he does know the offense. He has been here.
You know he did meet with the commissioner. What do
you think. No, that's gonna be like animal house. You

(45:18):
can't remember in my house when they showed the picture
of Flounder. We need to dues, we need to dues.
I'm guessing that somewhere in Patriot Place during a meeting,
somebody said, like, I don't know, guys, like, are we
ever thinking this thing? Antonio Brown hasn't actually been tried

(45:40):
of any offense in the court of law. I'm not
saying that he's he's an angel, but he's not Eric
Hernandez and he hasn't been suspended and all of this
stuff was nonsense. But we can get him for nothing nothing.
We put gonna pay him nine million dollars last time.
You can get him for nothing. And we know the

(46:03):
guy could play all right, Like yeah, I mean, he
could napalm this place at the end of the season.
But we're the Patriots and we know he can play,
and we can cut him more if we want. All right, guys,
let's up Antonio Brown. Yea or nay nay? No, yea, yea?

(46:24):
Are the nays outweigh the nays or the nays that
way they as We're gonna move on. And that there
is the did we truly kick the tires? Did we
call the commissioner's office, did we call his agent to
Rosenhouse and say is he ready to go? Probably not?

(46:44):
But did we have a meeting in which as part
of that meeting someone throughout the what about Antonio Brown. Yes,
yes we did, and we decided he's a pain in
the ass. Maybe he didn't learn that asked. Maybe the
fact was he didn't listen the overuse of twitter. Um,

(47:05):
they just the the emotional responses to every possible thing
going on in his life. We're gonna move on. And
so what that becomes translated to was no, no, no, no,
we're not even thinking about him, because the thought is
he's toxic. You can suggest Antonio Brown, suggest why it
makes sense, understanding that has been there before, but understanding

(47:26):
he's toxic, and then it gets shot down and realized
that this is how brainstorming sessions work. There's part of
that idea that makes it a lot of sense. There's
part of that idea that makes no sense. And I'm
guessing Tom Brady, who opened up his house literally to

(47:47):
Antonio Brown, probably thought they shouldn't have gotten rid of him.
Probably probably thought, like Robert Kraft, you didn't even call us, right,
you even call us, You didn't ask us, We didn't
manage the situation. We just got rid of them. So
I look at this and I think there's a distinct

(48:08):
possibility they did have a discussion. That doesn't mean they
truly kicked the tires. They're not bring him in for
a workout. They're not trying to send him down to
watch workout. They're not talking to his agent. On the
other hand, they are trying to figure out is the
risk worth the reward. Up next, there's one NFL team
that could fall below five after this weekend, but I

(48:29):
still think plenty of live in the playoffs hopes share
that way. You next, be sure to catch the live
edition of the Doug gott Leap Show weekdays at three
p m. Easter noon Pacific. Take on the Eagles, And
I don't know if you guys know this, but Lane
Johnson has just been ruled out. That's a bummer. Uh.
You look at the eagles precipitous decline last week, it

(48:49):
was when Lane Johnson went out with injury. Eagles are
a one point favorite at home to the Seahawks. How
will this game end? Likely? Russell Wilson running around the
backfield trying to make a play. Why every game he
plays in ends like that right. Have you ever seen
Dan Buyers are noted Seahawk fan? When was the last
Seahawk game that didn't involve Russell Wilson running around trying

(49:09):
to make a play at the end of it? Yeah,
it's it's been a little while. So let's let's say
let's say without Lane Johnson they moved to five and six.
You feel, what's your level of confidence in the Seahawks
winning in the road? Um? I think it's difficult early
start now on the East Coast. You mentioned the time change.
I actually wondered if it would have been better if
they played it at night, But um I I think

(49:30):
it's a fifty for the Seahawks. Let's say your Seahawks
win Eagles would be five and six in the season.
Do you think they'd be done? No, not, not only
for the division, They'd still be alive wild card that'd
be okay. So what you have to remember about all
of these teams okay, And the Seahawks benefits slightly from this.

(49:53):
The Niners obviously do, the Rams sort of do. The
Rams won their division and went to the Super Bowl.
So the way the scheduling works, you obviously play everybody
in your division twice, Okay, and then you play against
a different division. Everybody in your division plays a different division,
and then there's a couple of one off games that
are generally like first place against first place, et cetera. Right,

(50:18):
so your schedules are usually similar to other teams in
your division. And we pointed out that the Dallas Cowboys,
for example, have played, with exception of three games that
they've lost, playoff teams. They've played a relatively easy schedule. Right,
Eagles played the same schedule. Remember the Cowboys played the

(50:39):
Dolphins in this year. Guess who has the Dolphins coming
up next? That would be the Philadelphi Eagles. The Cowboys
have played the Giants twice. Did you know the Eagles
haven't played the Giants? Right, And the Giants are not good.
The Redskins stink. So four of their five remaining games

(51:00):
are against non playoff teams Dolphins, Giants, Redskins, Giants, not
just non playoff teams, teams that are bad. And I
told you we had to make a kind of a
mental adjustment. Any years in the past, even the bad
teams were not fighting to be bad. Now teams are like, look,
we're mirroring and and MLB and NBA, like we're gonna

(51:22):
be bad, and we're okay with being bad. Like the
Cincinnati Bengals. AJ Green is not playing again. Does anybody
believe A J. Green can't be playing? Does anybody believe
that Ryan Finley is actually their future? Right? They're like, well,
you know, we need to take a look at Ryan
Finley and not Andy Dalton, because the way to tank

(51:46):
is not to just say we're tanking, it's just play
younger players. They got no shot in a real game,
all right. The Dolphins have alread jettison to anybody with talent.
The Giants, well, they've gone to their young quarterback knowing
he's a fun bulling machine right now. And my guess
is last game in the season, Sae Kwon Barkley is
not gonna put on the helmet shoulder pads. Why would
you you want, say, Klon Barkley be you're running back

(52:08):
for the next five or six years, at least maybe
ten years. Who cares if he's you're you're running back? Like,
the only really tough game they have is the Cowboys,
and it's at home, and the Eagles generally better at
home and would probably have Lane Johnson back at home,
and I don't think they're done even with the loss.

(52:29):
With a win, I think they're in really good shape,
really good shape. With a loss, I think it looks bad.
I think are bad shape. Cowboys conversely have Patriots on
the road, Bills at home, both playoff teams, Bears on
the road, and you can say what you want about
the Bears. The defense is still nasty. It's going to
be December five, right, because they play on Thanksgivings and

(52:53):
they have a couple of days. Then they played the
seven five, then they get the Rams at home, and
then they go to the Eagles before they get the Redskins.
They got one shore wind in that's the last game
of the season, and the Cowboys are now just one
game clear. Plus they have the half game. Because if
you've been head to head from the Eagles four lamp

(53:13):
wins and one team they're battling with for the division,
they get to play him at home. Eagles win in
good shape, Eagles lose, not dead. Fox Sports Radio has

(53:36):
is the podcast, of course, part of the Herd podcast network.
He has three Now, I have all ball his all
football minds, all basketball minds. A conversation this week with
Andy Kennedy. What is the what's the big topic this
week for you? Uh? Well, I actually went pretty in
on this l A relocation, that article that came out yesterday,

(53:59):
and just you know what a debacle this whole situation is.
I mean, these guys that made the decisions don't have
a great feel for California, you know. I mean the
majority of power brokers in the NFL or Northeast guys
and then Jerry Jones now they come out here and
hang out, but they don't kind of understand the ethos
of the way we're wired. I mean, you're from California,
I'm from California. They're just a different type mindset and

(54:22):
they I understand why they wanted a team in l A.
I mean, there's too many people not to have a
team there, but rushing two teams there the way it
was handled. The debacle now of this cronky Dean relationship
where I've been told by people in league they don't
even talk. Uh, it's just it's it's a disastrous situation
with a ton of money on the line. And you

(54:43):
know it's not just the Chargers, just the Rams. I
mean I felt it last week watching the Sunday Night
Doug game. Doug, you could feel like, this is not Chicago.
They don't celebrate defense. So when it's seventeen to twelve,
like no one, that's not a fun game for people
in Los Angeles. It felt like a Bears home game.
I don't know, man, I just it's not trending in
the right direction. Well, there's there's a bunch to it.

(55:05):
And I'm actually kind of glad you brought up because
we haven't really talked about it. Um, I can just
tell you, and I haven't lived here my entire professional life,
right like I I was here for two years they
moved back. But I know my family has lived here.
I grew up and so I was here when they left. There.
When you when you grow up here, you know the
way people are watched, right, And when I grew up here,
when the Rams left, it wasn't that big a deal.

(55:26):
It wasn't when the Raiders left it was it was
it was a pretty big thing, but not a huge
thing because they never they never fixed the Colosseum like
they promised they fixed the Colosseum. And the reason they
hadn't fixed the Coloseum was it wasn't like any it
wasn't that big a thing, right, Like, it just wasn't.
It was just another thing to have. It was a
embarrassment of riches. And if you remember when the Rams

(55:50):
and Raiders left, that was back when they had blackouts
and you couldn't watch another game in your home market
outside of the home team, and you can only watch
that game was sold out. And so when they both left,
all of a sudden, we got to watch any game
we wanted. You'd have two games on at once and
you didn't have to worry. We don't have to Oh man,

(56:10):
we gotta watch the Rams again. They suck. I hate
watching that, right, So you got to watch any game
you wanted. So people still like the NFL. They just
had no affinity for any team outside of probably the Raiders, right,
and the Raiders. That's just also be honest, it's very
Hispanic and African American fan base, and you know that
that's that's not they don't sell the boxes, right, the Rams.

(56:33):
The Rams, they don't make any money, right, And that
was that's the whole thing is. My sister used to
be second in charge of marketing with the Raiders, and
she's like, look, we have loyal fans, they just don't
have any money like the Niners have the money. Now,
the Niners screwed themselves because they moved down to closer
to Silicon Valley, right, But they left all San Francisco behind.
They got their own problems to worry about. But I

(56:54):
I do think you're right. It's classic that like, well
they did studies to people like the NFL, like, yeah,
do we want a team? Like I guess you know.
And then here's a big one with the Chargers. I
think the Chargers are the Geno Smith of NFL franchises.
And here's why. Okay, I believe that the Giants then
knew they were they were doing the right thing, pulling Eli.

(57:15):
When they pulled Eli. The problem was there was such
negativity regarding Geno Smith in New York. If you started
anybody in the world instead of Eli, other than Gino Smith,
you'd be fine. You start Geno Smith like Geno Smith,
I hate him. You are putting the Chargers in Carson,

(57:35):
which is prime, prime real estate for Raiders fans. Hey,
it's not just that you put any team. You put
a team that doesn't have a winning reputation, has the
reputation of being cheap. And oh yeah, by the way,
is the rival of the team that you actually like, Like,
you set yourself off in a negative spot to begin with. Why.

(57:57):
I also think I went to cal Pouli. So I
went to cool with a lot of guys from San
Diego and the San Luis Obispo. So it was kind
of cut in half Northern California to have Southern California
in the mid two thousand's like, oh three to eight,
that's good living right there, by the way. Yeah, it
didn't suck. And then I went to Firestone Grill is amazing.

(58:19):
It's the best best right tip in America. And listen,
I understand, San Diego is never gonna be like have
the fervor of Dallas or Philly or whatever. But I
never met one person from San Diego that wasn't really
locked in on the Chargers. And I understand the corporate
money is a little different, but I think they could
have done it, and clearly Dean you know, listen, he

(58:41):
inherited the team from his grandpa. My dad was a farmer.
His his family in the Central Valley was viewed in
high reverence right from a business standpoint, his grandparents' dad
and I get Deans really conservative, but he would have
had to extend himself. I do think it would have
been capable in San Diego. Probably had to do a
little smaller stadium, but they had they had a niche

(59:02):
thing going and like you said, they're forcing this and
whenever you like, keeps paying one dollar in rent, stands
paying for everything. So if you're I mean, he should
have just accepted to pay maybe fifteen to twenty like
a going rate for rent. So there wasn't this animosity
from the guy that's paying for everything. Like to me,
the things destined to fail the way they set it

(59:23):
up economically, and then when you factor in, like you said, location,
the fan base, it's it's a disaster. Well, my issues
with San Diego residents who stupidly because of politics at
the time, Remember they had a they had a creepy mayor.
You know, they had a bunch of bad mayors, and
you know, the way California is, they never gonna vote

(59:45):
for tax stuff. I mean, they're just but it wasn't.
But it wasn't tax dollars. It was coming from rental cars,
which if you live in San Diego, you're not renting
a car. I know. It was the dumbest thing ever
for everybody, every tourist. And they lost the Final Four,
they lost the Super Bowl, they lost to College Football Playoff.
It's gonna be domed, it's gonna be part it's gonna
be everything they're getting in l A And and they

(01:00:06):
lost it. So I don't have sympathy for San Diego,
but it doesn't mean that it's the right place for
the Chargers or for the Rams. But you're you're right,
the Rams gotta pass. Their games are like home games
for the visiting team too. Anyway, John Mitelcoff joining us
in the Doug Gotlip Show, What about the Rams? Can
they be the team that solves the puzzle of Lamar Jackson? Uh?

(01:00:27):
You know, I think you need team speeded linebacker, and
that's not really their thing. Now, They've got some really
good defensive linemen and Jalen Ramsey will tackle in the
run game, So any of those runs that are going
outside of the tackle to Jalen Side that that helps
a lot, you know, the Monday night game. Yeah, I
think that plays a little bit of factor. Long travel
for Baltimore. Uh, I would lean, you know, are the

(01:00:51):
Are the Ravens really gonna go fourteen in two like
they're bound to lose some games would be the type
game I guess you would just circle as Yeah, this
is kind of hard. My question though, is the Ravens
defense has been playing a lot better and Jared has
been a disaster because he's much more like the old
school Rivers Eli those type quarters. He can't move, so
if you can't block for him, it's it's over. You

(01:01:12):
have no offense. And Girley is shown some signs of life.
But the Ravens, who kind of felt like an offensive
team all year, if you kind of look the last
couple of weeks, I mean, their defense is flying around
and making plays, especially that front they have I forget
the guy's name, but a front pass ushant is playing
really well Judah something And I just think that that

(01:01:33):
that's a matchup that's not really conducive for the Rams.
Is offensively, how are they going to score up points?
Do Gotlives show? Here on Fox Sports Radio. That's the
voice of John Middlcoff, former NFL scout. Check out his
Three and Out podcasts, which of course covers the entire
National Football League. It is interesting that the that the
Ravens defense, Ravens running game, Ravens kicking game, um is

(01:01:55):
all spectacular. It reminds me, reminds me of Tebow time.
Obviously he's better than Tebow. He's more like Mike Vick
without the off the field non sense. Right. And by
the way, it's Matthew Judon is uh is the is
the Yeah, we weak side linebacker another grade fine, Grand
Valley State. I don't know if you scouted Grand Valley

(01:02:16):
Skate and that's that's in Michigan. I think upper up
in in Michigan. Anyway, Matthew Judon is the one who
they're They're a d D two power at the East.
When I went I grew up in Davis and when
you see Davis was Division two. That was always the
team they were trying to be. Uh, let's get to
the Patriots. Do they have the skill position players to
win this thing? Did you see right before I got

(01:02:39):
on with you, I guess rap sheet? You know they
put out their injury report. Tom Brady's questionable. You know, obviously,
with Tom Brady's injuries, I don't pay much attention when
he's on the injury report, but the questionable is something
to kind of keep an eye on. I mean, that's
not that's not nothing. I don't know if he heard
his elbow. He is forty two years old, so you know,
a nick can become an injury pretty fast. The skill guys,

(01:03:00):
I love nikkil Harry coming out of college, but anytime
in that offense for young players, it's pretty historically very challenging.
And then he misses the majority of the season. I
think last week was the first week back, or maybe
it was two weeks ago. It's just gonna be a
transition there. Depending on Jacobe Myers. It's an undrafted free
agent Julian Edelman, who's just a who's one of my
favorite players of this generation. But he can only do

(01:03:22):
so much. I mean, hell, last week through the game
winning touchdown paths, but even he's banged up. Not having Gronkowski,
the running backs have been a little questionable. The one
thing that stood out to me last week Doug watching
the Eagle game was the Eagle was getting after Tom.
You know, it kind of felt like one of those
Super Bowls where Tom's just getting peppered over and over
and he doesn't like that. And if you can rush

(01:03:43):
the passer on him, you can throw him off. And
DeMarcus Lawrence, Michael Bennett, I mean they do have some
pass rushed. I mean, Lawrence is a star. So if
you if you can get after him a little bit
up front Tom and they get down. That was the
other thing they were down in the Philly game where
they can't just dink and dunk all game him and
just run out the clock. They kind of had to
push the ball down the field. And it's hard when

(01:04:04):
there's a reason that the story came out this week.
They're probably kicking the tires again on Antonio Brown. Their
receivers are just in shambles, Yeah, which which always said?
Which you know, and then of course there's another story
know that never happened. My guess is somebody said, what
about it? Jonio Brown? Like he's up pain in the ass,
Like all right, moving on, he can't play um that is, Hey,
what happened in Atlanta Falcons? Well, they pulled the names

(01:04:25):
out of a hat. And they all have coaching different positions. Yes,
they basically did the Tin Cup. They took all their
change in one pocket, put it to the other pocket,
and it it damned if it works. Yeah, you know,
no one ever doubted like they're the Dolphins talent wise.
I mean, they do have a players everywhere that every
team in the NFL would take. Uh. I think they
were such a head scratching team because a lot of

(01:04:46):
people in the NFL respect and Quinn. They've been a
consistent winner, you know, in his time, and just to
lose all those games sometimes just bye week, the team's
got a little pride again. They have a lot of talent.
What I have thought is maybe they just, you know,
every coach's run comes to an end. Some are twenty
five years, some are five years whatever. Maybe they had

(01:05:07):
tuned them out. But whatever he did that a little
like you said, the change move, it's worked because they haven't.
They haven't just looked good. They they've kind of been
kicking ass and taking names. That was a game. The
Niners are about to go on this crazy stretch. Packers
rape in Saints Ram Seattle and the Falcons are thrown
in there and everyone's like Oh, that's an easy win.
It's like I don't know about bad anymore. I mean

(01:05:29):
you could say they're the hottest team in the league. Yes,
they just it's one thing to get two wins over
the Dolphins and the Bengals. They got two wins over
the Saints on the road and the Panthers on the road,
dominating and and and there were no doubters, no doubters.
Uh did you feel like me? And you can disagree?
Did you feel like me? Watch the Colts last night
and go, man, what could have been this team? Obviously

(01:05:52):
they're kicker away from being a lock playoff team, but
if they have Andrew Luck he left the Super Bowl team,
I feel like this is the oh eight Patriots. Hey,
what could have been team? Yeah? Super Bowl might be
a little strong, but I'm watching the game last night
and really them all season thinking this feels like Andrew
lux VCS Stanford. Team physical upfront, you can throw in

(01:06:14):
any running back and shove it down your throat. I mean,
t Y was bad last night, but he's been He's
a really good player Eric Ebron and defensively they're just solid.
I mean it took The Texans are like a basketball team.
They got two stars and then a bunch of other
randoms and they just make plays and I don't you know,
they're not They feel they've got twelve men on the field.
Deshaun's run around for his life. They're gonna end up

(01:06:35):
with probably ten or eleven wins just on talents. Just
because there are a couple of high end guys are elait.
But I don't watch them thinking they're any good. I
watched the Colts much more button down operation. Yeah, I
mean Jacoby's numbers. I thought he played better than the
than the box score looked. Uh could they You know?
I do think they're probably a skilled guy away to
go along with t Y and Ebron to really make

(01:06:58):
hay when it comes to beating the Chiefs, beating Ravens,
beating the Patriots in the playoffs. But clearly the coach
uh is really good. And just from an outsider's view,
I respect and really kind of admire what Ballard the
type players he acquires, Like, they don't have many sexy guys,
but they just okay, you want to get into a
four quarter brawl and just will play, you know, in

(01:07:19):
the in the high teams, low twenties, let's go, and
that's they're gonna be even better next year. I think
a lot of Colts fans a little spoiled because they
went from manning the luck. I mean, they don't like
Jacobe or you know, clearly he's not those guys. But
one more draft and one more off season, to me,
they could be a team next year that could be
really scary. I still think, Doug, they probably sneak in

(01:07:41):
the playoffs because you look at their schedule. Nine wins
might get you that six seed, depending on you know,
the Raiders kind of a swing game this week. If
they were to lose to the Jets, they'd be in trouble.
They win this week, you might be like, well, they
might be the sixth seed. They also in the tiebreaker
over the Colt So that's the team to keep an
eye on. Let me let me ask you about that
uh Niners Packers game. M Garoppolo leven touchdowns, four inceptions

(01:08:02):
the last four Dames. We're like, wow, that's really good.
Then you look at at Aaron Rodgers last four games,
nine touchdowns, no interceptions, and they have a legit running
game now with Aaron Jones, and that's apparently the way
to beat the Niners. Is you gotta run the football
at their vaunted defensive line. Niners a little bit banged up, right,
Breed has got the yanko, Emmanuel Sanders got the ribs,
Deebo Samuel's got the shoulder, George Kittle got the knee

(01:08:24):
and ankle injury, um and and Joe Staley. I don't
think he practiced going back to yesterday? Am I crazy? This?
This is a win? The Packers win it. They got
the number one seed in the NFC. Plus, you know
Aaron Rodgers wants to kick their asks for not drafting him.
Feels like the Packers go in there and get a win.
Yeah to me, whoever wins this game is gonna end
up with a buy. Uh. The debo. Kittle and Emmanuel

(01:08:48):
Sanders were at practice today practicing. Now they had blue
jerseys on non contact, not like there's much contact going
kill playing Debo is gonna play? Emmanuel Sanders a little
up in the air. I don't know. I've been to
a couple of Niner games this year. The atmosphere has
been the best since Levi's obviously because they're winning, But
the Packers travel as well as any team. You know, obviously,

(01:09:10):
Aaron Rodgers, I don't know if it's gonna play that
big of a role in this game. He's the Niners
once upon a time passed on him. But the Niners
that used to under Harbaugh kind of owned the Packers.
Those Packer teams were little one sided. I mean, Clay
Matthews was really good, but their defense had a lot
of question marks. The Packers defense, they added Darius and
Preston Smith. Those guys have combined for almost twenty sacks

(01:09:32):
and dominated up front. There two corners Kevin King and
Jay are Alexander have been really good, So that to me,
defensively is kind of where they've come in. Now, like,
how is Jimmy gonna throw it on these guys? The
forty Niners receivers drop every other past now Kittle coming back.
Kittle is the forty best plot best player, and honestly

(01:09:52):
it might not even be that close. I mean, he's
one of the best players in the league, so having
him him back changes their offense. But yeah, I mean,
if you if I close my eyes and envision just
what's going to happen. D Ford, who's just you know,
one of the elite speed rushers, in the league is
not gonna play this week. To me, that's a big
kind of He's a guy that just plays fifty snaps

(01:10:13):
the game, but he would get pressure on Aeron that
if they double Bosa, it's a little more difficult. I
just kind of envisioned Aaron making some of those spectacular
plays on Sunday Night football in front of thirty million people,
and yeah, I would probably lean the Packers. Great stuff.
Johnmenico Three Down is the podcast home on Facebook, them
on Twitter, or just follow him around and creep him
out on daily basis. He went to cal Poly. He

(01:10:35):
knows about try tip. He survived Fresno State. He's jimenokoff milk.
Thanks so much man. Speaking of Fresno State, it's a
place that Tolent Calhard would never never. He went to
Eastern Washington. Calhard thinks the Cowboys finally get their marquee
winning the season this week. Give me my thoughts. Next,
be sure to catch the live edition of The Doug

Fox Sports Radio in the I Heart Radio app every day.
This time, I can pay for you a portion of
a previous show on Fox Sports Tradio or Fox Sports
One we call it with. Colin Calherd had this to
say regarding the Cowboys taking on the Patriots on Sunday.

(01:11:17):
Congratulations to all of you in Dallas. You're gonna be
putting up your trees probably it's the Friday after Thanksgiving
if we put up our tree at our house, and
it's nice to know the Cowboys. You already have a
present under your tree. You don't know it yet, but
you do. Mohammed Sanu will not play for New England

(01:11:39):
against the Cowboys. You won. You want New England. I
don't care about their winning streak at home streaks all.
And it's ending Sunday. You've already got a present under
your tree. Day after Thanksgiving we all put our trees up.
You've already got a big and that's a that's a

(01:11:59):
put a ball on it. It's a win over New
England and Foxborough. It's yours. New England has been reduced
now to Julian Edelman, no deep threat, third kicker, worst
offensive line in over ten years, No Mohammed Sanu and
be running backs. It's over. I don't care. This is

(01:12:20):
now a personnel mismatch. Yeah, and you you add on
that John Bentley's knee is questionable. Tom Brady's right now.
But to Tom Brady, does that matter? Yes, Marcus Cannon
missed practice with an illness, Patrick Chung has a heel injury,
Philip Dorset as a concussion, Julian edim In a shoulder,
Jason mccordy a groin, Mohamed Sanu an ankle, and oh yeah,

(01:12:42):
by the way, they're still trying. They're still trying to
work back in Isaiah Wynn as he worked again on
scout team. That's their starting left tackle. Brady's hurt. It
does seem weird. It's one of those Hey Cowboys. I
know Late and Vanest not playing, but if not now
when when banged up New England team, whether you're playing

(01:13:03):
on the road or not doesn't really matter. And the
Patriots still have road games against the Texans home against
the Chiefs for Bengals, Bills Dolphins finish up with what's
likely a three game winning streak. I think home field
matters to them in the playoffs, but I also think
health matters to them as well. Wouldn't surprise me at
all if just like they the the the story going

(01:13:25):
around is that the Patriots didn't mind giving a bunch
of different looks to the Ravens to figure stuff out
for the next time around. If they don't mind losing
this game in order to protect Brady and other Patriots
slit there healthy at the end of the season. Call
it load management or call it respect for the Cowboys
strength wouldn't stun me at all at all. Got my

(01:13:51):
picks next hour. I got t Jushman sat the next hour.
There are many great what ifs in the world of sports.
I think we saw one of them last night in Texas.
Tell you what that is? Next to The Doug Gotlic Show.
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Doug
Gottlieb Show weekdays at three p m. Easter noon Pacific.
What Up Doug Gotlip Show, Fox Sports Radio. Doug Gotland

(01:14:15):
Show is brought to you by Discover Card. We treat
you like you to treat you. What are the greatest
what ifs? In sports? It's a question I have for you.
What are the greatest what ifs? In sports? All Right? Um?
I would say for me like you could go sport

(01:14:37):
by sport by sport by sport and say what if? Heck,
We've been talking about the the Astros, whether or not
they'll lose the World Series. What if they didn't have
what if they didn't have access to cameras or maybe
these buzzers telling them what pitches were coming. We'll never know.
Would the Dodgers have won their first World Series in

(01:14:58):
thirty years? Where we still you Clayton Kershaw the same like.
We'll never know what would Barry Bonds have looked like
if he aged like a regular human being. Roger Clemens
when he was too old and too fat to pitch
in Boston, would he have had a resurgence without the
help of performance and answers? I don't know what would

(01:15:18):
happen if if Bartman didn't go after a fall foul
ball right college basketball, what would have happened? I don't
know if you guys know this. Mteen Cleans won a
national championship in two thousand. Right in he was on
a recruiting trip to Michigan. They got into a car

(01:15:40):
accident in I believe it was Robert Trailer's Ford Explorer.
Turns out Robert Trailer's Ford Explorer belonged to his grandma.
His grandma wasn't working. It was what ultimately brought down
Michigan's pro Graham mteen Cleves was gonna go to Michigan.

(01:16:02):
Everybody went to Michigan. Missigon was cool program at the time.
He didn't went to Michigan State. Flint Stone's national championship,
Tom Zzo Hall of Famer rest is history. Right, What
would happen if that car accident didn't happen? All right,
there's the there's the butterfly effect. He has known the
butterfly afflexes. If this doesn't happen, all of these other
things don't happen. Happens in politics all the time. Ross

(01:16:30):
Barrow passed away. What a couple months ago? People forget
that Ross Barrow was really making headway in running for
president and then he decided to not run for like,
I don't know, a couple of weeks and then he
started run again. What happened if he just kept on
his campaign? You know, there are people that are George
Bush supporters, and was it Ralph Nader was a Green

(01:16:51):
Party candidate. It was Ralph Nader and Ralph Nader didn't
want run with George Bush have won? Right, happens in politics,
havings in sports. You know what would happened with Alabama
had they not pulled Jalen Hurts in the National Championship Game?

(01:17:13):
What would happen? Would they have come back in one?
Would Jalen Hurts have finished up at Alabama? Would to
Tavia Loga have transferred? If to a transferred, where would
he have gone? Would you have gotten hurt? Like all
of these one ifs? I watched last night and I
know the Colts lost another close game, And if you're
watching the Culture, you're watching the Texans, You're like, welcome

(01:17:36):
to my world. Every game is close. The Colts lost
their first game the season, the Chargers, mostly because their
field goal kicker is a fossil. He's a Hall of
Fame fossil, but a fossil and non voluntary. He missed
two field goals in an extra point. They lose by six.
You do the math. They lose to the Raiders by
a touchdown. They lose to the Steelers by two. They

(01:17:57):
lose the Dolphins by four, They lose the Excellence by three.
They have not been out of any football game. Their
schedule has been tougher than most remember. They beat the
Titans on the road Chiefs when they had Pat Mahomes
on the road, and they're right there in the thick
of a playoff birth. And this is after they've lost

(01:18:21):
Andrew Luck for the season or Andrew Luck for his
career because Andrew Luck retired. They've had a litany of injuries,
they didn't have their best running back, going back to
last night, Right last night, they line up and man,
you don't have Mac at running back. You're a different
football team. But I want you to think about this

(01:18:42):
in the football all time? What ifs I would start
with the Patriots O eight, Right, Patriots in O eight,
that's coming off of the sixty and a year Brady back,
Moss back, best team in football back and they actually
end up having a relatively easy schedule. Matt Castle wins
eleven games? How many do they win? What happens historically

(01:19:04):
to the Patriots if Tom Brady doesn't come down with
a knee injury because somebody tackles it below the waist, right,
what if? What if Andrew lux their quarterback? He doesn't retire.
Jacoby Brissette and Brian Hoyer been their starting quarterbacks their
third in the NFL and rushing eighth and third down
conversion percentage fourth in time of possession on offense, seventh

(01:19:27):
in red zone scoring. They can run it, they can
already score. They already maintain possession of football. They do.
They have a tremendous offensive line, They have a good
tight end, have a good running back. I watched the
Colts last night and thought, what if Andrew Luck hadn't retired?

(01:19:49):
And you can tell me that's on a super Bowl team? Okay,
do the Patriots at better skill position players? No, they
already beat the Colts on They already beat the Chiefs
on the road without Andrew Luck. Like, I don't think
it's crazy to think they have a super Bowl team.
If Andrew Luck comes back and play, that's an all

(01:20:11):
time what if her? Right? What would have happened? Like?
What would have happen to the Bulls? Have they won
their third straight title? If Jordan hadn't retired? Right? How
many would they want? Would they have won six? Would
they have won eight? Or would they have lost for
a couple of years because they were bored and tired

(01:20:33):
of being around each other? Much like the Golden State words.
We don't know and I don't know if if the
Luck led Colts would absolutely win a or get to
a Super Bowl. But it stands to reason. They got
a really good offensive line, they had a good young defense.
I've got a talented running back. Um. I think Ebron
obviously is a as a favorite target at the tight end.
T Y Hilton, who didn't play well last night, still
a very good player. Are there are their past catchers? Great? No,

(01:20:57):
but you got all these other things to make Andrew
Luck happy, to make him successful. They've already been good
with Jacobe Brissette. Imagine what they would be with Andrew Luck,
which who we would all conclude is one of the
best quarterbacks in the NFL before he decided to retire.
That's an all time whatever, and we have it in
every sport. Now, what if that foul wasn't called. What

(01:21:23):
if that travel was called? What if there's a push
off called on Jordan and Brian Russell? What if the
Golden State Warriors pick any of their injuries last year
in the playoffs? Hey, when the Golden State Warriors had
three games, the one leaving Cleveland Cavaliers. What happens if
Andrew Bogan doesn't get hurt. Everybody talks about Draymond getting suspended, Well,
what happens with Draymond doesn't get suspendable, what happens of

(01:21:44):
Andrew Bogan doesn't even get hurt? Different team, very different team.
There are a lot of great sports what ifs, and
that's part of what makes life. What makes sports special
is if ifs we're fifth, we'd be drinking every day. Right.

(01:22:07):
But I watched the Colts all season long. I'm marvel
at their offensive line play. I think jacober said's good, solid, fine,
not elite, but not terrible. I do think can you
imagine him, Garoppolo and Brady all on the same team,
That's pretty phenomenal stuff. But I also would tell you

(01:22:29):
that if they had luck, they'd be great, not good great.
And I think he left behind the Super Bowl team,
much like Tom Brady did, much like Joe Montana. To
this day, if you go to Joe Montana, you're like,
what do you think of San Francisco Fort Diners? Steve
Young won my Super Bowl? What if I hadn't had

(01:22:51):
to go to the Kansas City Chiefs? And and much
like um, you know we had we cow Herd got
in this discussion yesterday, can't compare Jordan Lebron, Like if
you can't compare those guys, even though it's an unfair comparison,
We're you're not doing sports radio right. It doesn't mean

(01:23:12):
you do it every day, but it's a natural comparison.
Hell Lebron James is wearing number twenty three. You can
tell me I don't want to be compared to Jordan's
why there you are in number twenty three. But if
you can't say, what if you can't do sports, can't
do life? Do you? Guys? Remember those Choose your own

(01:23:36):
Adventure books? That's basically three different what if scenarios? What
if the dragon attacks you? What if the dragon decides
not to attack you? What if you feed the dragon?
Three different pages, three different stories. What if? Coming up next? Five?
And oh, last week nine and over the past two
weeks with college football, Daddy's been on fire. Come get

That's a wind, dog, that's the wind. That's a loss.
That the wind only and one in college You're like, man,
that's a loss. You're your four below. But considering where

I'm running a favor. Let's get to the picks. I
won't winner twelve. We gotta five NFL five College. It's

(01:25:13):
five for five, which Doug Godli, let's go five to
do to do Doug gott Leaves Show, Fox Sports Radio.
Let's let's get off to I'm riding Illinois in college
football seven and three against the spread this weekend. I
was coming off a huge win over previously undefeed of Minnesota.
Don't worry, I know Illinois also coming off a huge win.

(01:25:35):
They were down twenty eight to ten at the half.
They were wait for it. They were down thirty one
to tend in the third quarter, comeback and win thirty
seven thirty four. But Brandon Peters in the line, I
it won't go away. The defense is pretty good fit
in the country at twelve points per game, offense won't
put up enough points to win for Iowa. UM, Iowa

(01:25:57):
is a fifteen half point favorite. I don't care if
I will wins. I just don't eat him win by
more than two touchdowns, right, I'm not asking that much. Right.
Illinois kind of team of a little bit of destiny there.
They're already bol eligible. They've won four games in a row.
They got Northwestern next was all banged up. They got
a chance to win eight games. Love, he's gonna keep
his job. How don't if they win? I think they

(01:26:19):
cover this week. Um Oklahoma State is gonna be without
without their starting quarterback this weekend. You're like, whoa, WHOA,
got lab going on the road to West Virginia. Well,
a couple of things you need to know. Spencer Sanders
has been good, but he's also turnover prone. He is,

(01:26:39):
so Spencer Sanders is out instead. Drew Brown is gonna
get a look now. Drew Brown is a lot more experienced. Um,
he's a senior. He's a transfer. He played two years
at Hawaii. He's pretty good thrower, pretty good thrower. And
they have Chuba Hubbard and West Viginia does not have

(01:27:00):
a good run defense. I think they're fine. I'm not sure.
They're not the same team without Spencer standards. Eventually is
gonna be a great quarterback. Right now, he's still super young.
Oklahoma State wins. Oklahoma State covers on the road, five
and a half point favorites against the Ears. Okay, so
I need your help with math here. You can't How

(01:27:23):
quick can you do math? Ryan Music? This is a
good math problem, all right? You ready? Alright. Michigan State
is taking on Rutgers taking on Rutgers. Okay, I'm gonna
give you the overall scores for Rutgers in conference, and
you tell me what the overall scores are. Because I
saw this and I was like, this is insane, insane.

(01:27:44):
Rutgers is oh and seven in League two and eight overall.
They've already fired their head coach. They lost thirty nothing
in Iowa, fifty two nothing to Michigan, seven to Maryland,
who stinks, thirty five nothing in Indiana, in Minnesota, thirty
eight to ten to Illinois and fifty one to Ohio State.

(01:28:08):
How's your mouth? Not good? And but it might be
better than Rutgers offense that's only scored forty five points
in conference points in conference. Okay, so Michigan State. Look,
Michigan State sucks this year. Okay, I'm not gonna but
they did score thirty four against Illinois. They got stopped
last week in Michigan. But they got a chance here.

(01:28:29):
This is big for Michigan State to get bull eligible.
They gotta win two games, going two games and they're
gonna this is a get right game. Everybody feels good.
They're gonna stop the hell out of out of Rutgers Ruckers.
A twenty one and a half point dog plus Ruckers
is three and seven against the spread. Um, I'm taking
Michigan State lead points. I'm okay with it. Half. I

(01:28:53):
know you're like Michigan State, Brian l Worky, not good,
got it understood. Rutgers is really really not good, and
it's to get right game. It's a feel good game.
Mark d' antonio, I think's gonna keep his job because
they're gonna go six and six and go to a
bowl game. Nebraska is taken on Merland. Have you seen
how bad Maryland has been recently? They're one win is

(01:29:13):
over Rutgers in conference play. They got beat seventy three
to fourteen by Ohio State seventy three to fourteen. Now,
it's not like Nebraska is great shakes, but for most
of this season they're playing without their starting a good
push of the season playing without their starting quarterback. And
they too want to get bull eligible. It's a big
thing when you have a young team and you're trying

(01:29:33):
to change the culture to get bowl eligible. Uh. Nebraska
was beaten at home by Wisconsin, but the going on
the road to Maryland, who is all kinds of stinky.
I think Adrian Martinez opens up and has a really
big game. All they gotta win is by a touchdown.
I'm gonna take Nebraska to win. Nebraska to cover, you guys,

(01:29:54):
I'll go with that cool dune and dune dune. All right,
one more pick and this one's a biggie right. This
one is a a huge, huge game for Michigan. Taken
on Indiana. Now, Michigan doesn't traditionally cover when they have
Ohio State coming the following week, and Indiana is not terrible.

(01:30:18):
Yes they beat in Rutgers, Yes they beat Maryland. Yes
they beat in Northwestern, those the bottom of the league.
They also beat Nebraska on the road. It's only a
nine point spread. Michigan, on the other hand, comes out
and and since they beat Penn State, they've been playing
great football. I mean lost the Penn State. Excuse me,
they came back, could have scored a touchdown at the
very end. They beat Maryland, beat Michigan State, beat Notre Dame.

(01:30:41):
I think Michigan wins. I think Michigan covers. I just do.
I understand that they haven't covered for John Harbaugh getting
ready for Ohio States since he's been there. This becomes
the exception Michigan. Shaye Patterson, I don't think Indiana is
as good as the record because they're beating up in
the bottom of the Big Ten. I'm gonna take Michigan
to win in Michigan to cover. Those are my college picks.

(01:31:02):
Let's get to the pros Steelers taken on the Bengals.
Have I mentioned that the the Bengals don't stink, The
Bengals suck. A. J Green is not gonna play for
whatever reason. They using Ryan Finley. Bengals are oh and
four at home against the spread. They're the thirty one
best team in overall defense, thirty at in the offense.
Steelers have the third best defense overall, number two in takeaways.

(01:31:25):
This is gonna be ugly. Steelers just gotta win. Buy
a touchdown, six and a hook. Give me the Steelers
as road favorites playing in Cincinnati. Broncos taken on the Bills.
The Bills are only four point favorites and the Bills
are six three and one against the spread. Bills defenses
third and points per game six on third down. Broncos

(01:31:46):
offense is among the league's worst. And I know it's
been better since they trade change quarterbacks. But Brandon Allen's
only completing of his passes. It's not like he's tearing
up the league. Bills defense at home in the cold, now,
sty give me the Bills. Giants are three and seven
overall against the spread this year, thirty one in the NFL.

(01:32:09):
Giant said the second most turnovers in the NFL. They're
only scoring twenty points per game. I believe they're playing
for next year. Bill Bears have their struggles on offense,
but their defense is elite. And I'm not sure if
you've paid attention, but Danny Dimes is also Danny fumble.
Bears minus six, Bears will win, Bears will cover. Give

(01:32:29):
me the home favorite Bears. Cowboys are six and a
half point dogs. Reputation alone as allowed the Patriots to
be a six and a half point favorite. No, Mohammed
Sanu not expected to play. Cowboys defense is uh fourth
on third down, ninth in the red zone. It's better
than you think. The offense is going against a very

(01:32:51):
good defense, but I expect him to shorten the game,
run the football. I think the Cowboys win. I would
go at this straight up, but if I'm getting six
and a half points, I'll take that. Nonetheless, give me
the Cowboys on the road as a dog to cover.
Packers are three and one on the road against the spread,
seven and three overall against spread niners or two to two,
two and one at home against the spread. Packers great

(01:33:13):
and turnover margin. That's a huge stat in the NFL.
Their offense has really come together. Fourth overall, fifth overall,
excuse me, ninth in points per game, second in the
red zone. And remember some of their red zone and
inefficiencies is when they didn't have Davante Adams, who, over
the last two and a half years, the best red
zone threat at wide receiver in the NFL. Jimmy G's aggressive,
but Jimmy G can turn that ball over. Last two

(01:33:34):
games Loan five TVs. Three interceptions and several others that
could have been intercepted if guys weren't playing defense for
a reason, Right, why do you drop that ball? Plays
defense for a reason. I like Jimmy G. But in
this game, when Aaron Rodgers, who doesn't turn it over,
comes in super focused and he's got a running game, defense,
though a bit maligned, is a turnover happy defense against

(01:33:55):
Jimmy Daroppoloh will turn the football over. Packers are three
point dogs. I like three three and a half. I
love because I can lose my field golf. You get
three and a half all over the Packers. I'm still
gonna take him. Packers, Cowboys, Bears, Bills, Steelers. Those are
the page there. It is five NFL five College five

(01:34:18):
for five with Doug Godley. Be sure to catch the
live edition of The Doug Gottlieb Show weekdays at three
p m. Easter noon Pacific. T jsh Manzana joins this
form a Pro Bowl wide receiver. Of course you can
hear him on Fox Sports Radio. Do you think Brady
is really hurt? U? Who? I think Brady is hurt? Or?

(01:34:38):
Are they trying to get a built in excuse? Uh?
I don't think he's hurt. How many times have Brady
popped up on injury port? Oh the shoulder? Oh? This
is sor not? I don't think he's hurt. Oh? Are
they trying to lure the Cowboys a sweet I just
don't see how they I don't see how the Cowboys

(01:34:59):
should score against like anything. Do you want to tell me?
And I've said it, the Cowboys only beaten bad teams?
Like have you paid attention to who the Patriots have played? Like?
I think they're good. I don't think they're as good
as their reputation because they've played the bottom of the
league for the most part. I think the Cowboys are
the better football team top to bottom. The Cowboys have
a better team. Now will they show that Sunday? They better?

(01:35:20):
If Jason Garrett knows look good for him? Huh? They're
better at quarterback there when when you look at the Patriots.
The Cleveland Brown somewhat exposed them in Baltimore, just really
ran with it. You can run the ball on the Patriots.
The Cowboys have that massive offensive line. Ezechie Elliott has
been in a rut. He can he can kind of

(01:35:41):
get back on a horse, so to speak, this weekend
against the Patriots. Run defense. T J. Hushman's atta joining
us on the Doug Gottlip Show on Fox Sports Radio.
A J. Green really hurt? Or the Bengals just trying
to make sure they secure that number one overall pick? Man?
A J. Green? He AJ is hurt. He's the type
of guy regardless of what on on he he wants

(01:36:01):
to play. At this point, who else is going to
get the number one pick? Is man? The Bengals have
been They've been bad this year, and regardless of A J.
Comes back, is he gonna make that much of a
difference anyway? I say no, it's it's bad and Cincinnati
I mean bad. I don't know if I've seen it
any worse. And it's been bad. People forget how bad

(01:36:24):
it was when you first got there. To say it
might be the worst it's ever been. That that is
in fact saying something Doug Gotli show here on Fox
Sports Radio. Let's uh um, let's get to last night's game.
Deshaun Watson once again just finding away. But I watched
the Colts and I think what could have been right,
Like if you put Andrew Luck on that team, potentially

(01:36:46):
a super Bowl team. I really believe that, am I
Are you okay with me putting that? It's one of
the all time great what ifs. It's a possibility. You
would think, uh number one had he been healthy, and
that was a big reason of why he's not planning anymore.
Health was a big reason. And that now if you
get and healthy Luck, with that defense and that offensive line, yeah,

(01:37:12):
it's a possibility that you're looking at them competing with
the Patriots, the Chiefs, the Texans yearing him year out.
It's almost like, and Jacoby per said, it's not a slouge.
It's almost like Frank Bright is holding back. Like they
went so run aheavy yesterday. It was like, we don't
want Jacoby percent to throw the ball. And if you
look at the first time they played on me, took

(01:37:33):
forward three hand yards. So I didn't really get the
game plan. I understand that Baltimore ran through Houston to
prior week. But you're not Baltimore and you don't have
that Lamar Jackson in the backfield being another threat. How
does how do the Raiders assume the Rams matchup with
with what Baltimore does on paper? Not great? Not great.

(01:37:57):
Aaron Donald's gonna have to uh have this best game ever.
He's gonna have to be in the backfield. He's gonna
have to harass Lamar Jackson the round they can't protect uh,
And if you can't protect golf, it's not a good
recipe for success. It's just right now. The rounds is
just not their year. Man in Baltimore looks like they're

(01:38:19):
the best team. It's like no question defensively, offensively is
you've got that guy Lamar Jackson Like he's something we've
never seen and and you know you need a pocket
pastor in the league to be successful. He's not something
we haven't seen before, though we've seen Mike Vick. No, no,
we haven't seen Mike Vick like this. Yes, yes, do

(01:38:39):
Nobody has seen Mike Vick where he's running the ball,
He's stolen for three d He's consistently game in, game out,
We haven't seen this. Have you? Have you seen Michael
Vick go seven team for twenty two hundred ninety yards
three touchdowns. We haven't seen this. We've seen Mike Vick.

(01:39:00):
You look at the offense that Gregg Groman is running,
the same offense he ran in San Francisco with Colin Caperty.
We haven't seen this type of offense were they're gonna
attack you with three tight ends, they're gonna throw seam
rails Lamar. We haven't seen this type of offense. The
most pass yards he threw for this is Mike vic
was to seventy two to seventy two rush yards. He

(01:39:23):
had one game two oh one. Oh my gosh, like crazy,
That's what I'm saying, Like Vick, come on now. Vic
is unbelievable with his legs and he had probably the
strongest him in the league when he was playing. But
Lamar Jackson is doing it both ways. And that's I know.

(01:39:45):
For me, I didn't expect this. I didn't think he
could be this good, this fast. He shocked me completely.
And that's why I say it. It's almost how can
you be Baltimore? You would think we're gonna stop him
on the run and make Lamar Jackson be the pass
it Okay, I'll do that, and I didn't believe he
would be able to do it, and he's proven me
and everybody else wrong. T J. Houshman'sata joining us on

(01:40:08):
the Doug got Leaves Show. All right, green Bay heads
into San Francisco. Who do you like in why Man?
If I can get a healthy George Kittle? Thet is
a lot riding on this game and the next two thereafter.
I like, I like the forty Niners man that defense
harassing Aaron Rodgers and you get a healthy George Kiddle.
I don't know if Emmanuel Standard is gonna plat and
know a lot of people are picking Green Bay, but

(01:40:32):
that that defense number two in the NFL, that's a
lot to deal with. That's what they're gonna harass Aaron
Rodgers all game. T J. Hushman Zatta, when he's not
in a bad self service area, is an amazing guest.
Plus you can hear him every Saturday one o'clock Eastern time,
ten o'clock Pacific, alongside the legend Steve Hartman. Hartman will
lose his mind tomorrow because he's doing the radio show

(01:40:53):
while uh U c L a USC are playing at
least partially enjoy that. We'll talk to you soon. I
appreciated man in this This traffic in this service killed me.
Sorry about that, all right, No problem, t J. Hush Benzada.
I didn't know that traffic affected the service. Romis you
buying that? I love my boy, Hush, but I'm not
buying the traffic of the service. I guess if you're

(01:41:15):
in bed, I guess you're in bad traffic, in a
bad service spot. You can't get out of that spot. Well,
Myles Garrett get a longer suspension for lying. Find out next.
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Doug
gott Leap Show weekdays at three p m. Easter noon
Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart Radio
Whap Dan Buyer, hit me with the press, the press,

(01:41:38):
hit me with your press. Stop. Why don't you hit
me with your press? Stop, Buyer. That's all right. I'm
trying to pull a couple of things from the NFL
injury report because now with Week twelve, with people betting
on games, with fantasy football seasons coming to an and
at least the regular season, I know these are important weeks,
but just a couple of notables for this week. It's

(01:42:00):
m Brady questionable expected to play though for the Patriots.
Seahawks could be without Jadevi and Clowney a gametime decision
according to Pete Carroll because of a hip injury. And
as you spoke with John Middlecoff last hour, George Kittle,
Emmanuel Sanders, Devo Samuel All questionable for the Niners. Matt
Breta out for that game against the Packers. Interesting, it's

(01:42:24):
interesting in the one pick I didn't make that I
want to make, and I want to I want Tampa
atlant over Tampa Atlantis on hire Hi here, four point
favorites to at home, back to back divisional wins on
the road. Now you come back. Now you come back
home against uh Tampa, who's gonna hop out to an
early lead. Then then Jameis Winson's gonna turn the football over, right, Yes?

(01:42:48):
I The Dolphins against the Browns without Miles Garrett with
everything is a big number. Um. I think Miami could
at least keep it within double digits. I think it's
about a ten point line. And Pierre Garson, of course,
the NFL networks is that Commissioner Roger Goodell would have
the power to hand up more punishment to Miles Garrett,

(01:43:08):
and if Garrett fights it, the appeal would be heard
by James Thrash. You just upheld his suspension, So basically
just going through the same process. If at the end
of this season or the beginning of next Garrett tries
to be reinstated, that's the process it would go through. Doug,
what do you think he they do about the lying
if they conclude. I mean, look, if they can't prove

(01:43:30):
that anything was said, it does feel like he's lying obviously.
Mason Rudolph, Like, if I'm Mason Rudolph, I pushed for
and I didn't say anything. I pushed for somebody to like,
hey man, he needs to get that extended. Do you
think they go after more games? I don't think so.
But I did think that his statement yesterday of I

(01:43:52):
thought everything we were supposed to say in there as
private and then being like I heard what I heard
so confirming the report. I thought that that was Nique
who heard heard what you mean Miles Garrett in this
statement that he released, Yeah, way of saying like I
thought everything I was saying was going to be kept
within those walls. Unfortunately it wasn't. And then the next

(01:44:12):
paragraph being like, yeah, I did think I heard something,
or I I know what I heard. I just thought
that that was unique. A couple of the idea that
he didn't mention hearing it at any point leading up
to that, to me really hurts the credibility. Yeah, Oklahoma
State received their notice of allegations from the m C
double ace in College News. You think about that Arizona, Kansas. Right,

(01:44:33):
You're in like big company there, you get notice of allegations, right, Yeah,
I mean we're running recruiting the arcade Cunningham. This goes
back to a previous assistant coach, previous head coach, um
and the FBI investigation. Yeah, basically, they just found that
Lamont Evans was guilty of accepting bribes to push recruits

(01:44:54):
towards certain agents. But Oklahoma State released a statement saying
no other major violations found and there are no allegations
against the current coaches or athletes here, no more do
what did you gonna do? And uh? Fox Sports John
Rossi says the Phillies have been in contact with free
agent Picture Medicine Bum Gardener short stub deed. Gregorious also
could be going to Philly, maybe reuniting with Joe Girardius.

(01:45:15):
Was that buyer one upset you like this weekend? I
just like the Dolphins to cover against the Browns. Dolphins
to cover against the Dolphins. Beat the Browns, the Browns everything.
Everybody gets fired on Monday, right, every everybody gets fired
on Monday. All right? John Romins microphone doesn't really work,
but I did hear him stay ten seconds, have himself

(01:45:37):
a great, great weekend. Follow my picks. I've been on
fire light, still got lip show
