Today we are Farmers um a move that could be

(01:52):
made the National Football League, which we have been a
long proponent of that. Upcoming, Chris Simms will join us
from Pro Football Talk as we get ready for more
Tom Brady, Thomas Edward Patrick Brady discussion Spike Lee making
an idiot of himself on National TV. But that's that's
the times of which we live in. Actually, you know
what we're gonna get to the Milwaukee Bucks in a second.

(02:14):
I want to read this because it was just recently
released So if you've been watching, Spike Lee has gone
on TV and he's picked on low hanging fruit, which
is James Dolan, the owner of the New York Knicks,
and said that James Dolan is harassing him kicked him
out of the game last night. Here's a statement from

(02:34):
the Knicks. The idea that Spike Lee is a victim
because we have repeatedly asked him not to use the
employee interests instead use the dedicated v I P entrance,
which is used by every other celebrity who enters the garden,
is laughable. It's disappointed that Spike would create this false
controversy to perpetuate drama. He's welcome the garden anytime via
the v I P or general entrance, just not through

(02:54):
the employee entrance, which he which is what he and
Jim agreed to last night when they shook hands. This
is what we do in an effort. We do this
in sports, we do it in politics. I get it.
Nobody likes James Dolan. I get it. The Knicks stink.

(03:16):
All of this is in fact understood. All of it
it is understood. But creating a nontroversy ends up kind
of nullifying any legit controversies. Creating a controversy only makes

(03:36):
you look like an idiot and makes people with legit
gripes feel less uh uh, less real, less true. All right,
let's get to let's get to real issues, like the
Milwaukee Bucks. Are they somehow fallible? Yeah? So last night

(03:58):
the Milwaukee Bucks law us for the second time this season,
a second time this season to the Miami Heat. And
you know what we do. We don't really pay attention
to the regular season unless we pay attention to the
regular season. And in this particular case, we're paying attention

(04:19):
to some nondescript game in early March in which the
Heat took down the Bucks. Is it caused for concern?
Yes and no. Yes in that we've seen Mike Budenholzer
and his style work in the regular season before and
it hasn't worked in the postseason. No, in that it's

(04:39):
just a regular season game. Yes, in that there is
a specific matchup that the Miami Heat have for Janice.
Al Right, they have athletic defenders that are strong enough
so that he can't play down here. They got Bam
out of Bio, who is the nice stopper. They collapse,

(05:02):
they expand, they have Jimmy Butler, who's tough and forced
him into bad shots, and they have a scheme, they
have a system, they have the personnel that's been able
to outwit the Milwaukee Bucks. Sports is about a lot
of things. Sports about a lot of things. Sometimes it's

(05:26):
about who wants it more, desire to be there. A
matter of fact, the Miami Heat have oftentimes won games
at home because of the South Beach flu. Right, teams
come down from the Northeast and they get to the
warm weather, and they get to the club scene, and
they hang out and they put their last beer down,
they go to shoot around, they sleep all day, and
they sleep walk through the game at night. That happens.

(05:47):
Sports is about that sometimes, especially professional sports. Sports at
times is about who's better. Sports is about who's healthier.
And sports is also about matchups. Like look, the the
takeaway is no different than might take away with the
Rockets and the Lakers. The Lakers are empirically better than

(06:08):
the Rockets, but the Rockets are a really tough matchup
for the Lakers. Why Lakers are kind of top heavy,
even with the addition of Marquise Moore, Markis Morris, they
have Dwight Howard, they have JaVale McGee, who are basically
useless against the playing style and personnel of the Houston Rockets,

(06:32):
right because the counter two playing small ball is pound
them inside, and neither of them are really traditional low
post players, and whatever they give you on offense gets
nullified by their inability to guard on defense. So I
I just want to point out that the Heat aren't

(06:52):
better than the Bucks, but the Heat are a problem
for the Bucks. The Rockets aren't better than than the Lakers,
but the Rockets are a problem for the Lakers. And
then if you forward it even more, why the Golden
State Warriors win seventy three games before Kevin Durant got there,

(07:13):
and why were they so dominant getting to three NBA
Finals and nearly winning a third championship if not for
health be following them last year Because no one had
the elixir, no one had the right matchup. Teams had
not yet evolved to having that type of light up
enough quality small ballplayers, and now I think they have.

(07:37):
So if you're the Bucks or a Buck fan, you're
trying to figure out, can they get to the finals?
The answer is yes and maybe no. Are the Lakers
better than the Clippers, yes, but can they get by
the Rockets Maybe no? And will the Warriors returned to dominance. Maybe,
But it's a different league than the one they left.

(07:59):
The one they left was a step ahead of everyone
else and they were all playing catch up, trying to
cobble together a small ball lineup. Now everyone has one
and some are perfecting it. Maybe not to the level
of the Golden State Warriors, but not that far off.
Sports is about a lot of things. Health is important,

(08:20):
Home and road is important. Desire to win and to
compete and to prepare is important. Coaching is important, making
shots and mission shots is important. But matchups, style matchups,
personnel matchups oftentimes are the biggest decider in who wins
and who loses and wine. I'll give you one last example.

(08:45):
My first year calling n c A tournament games was
two thousand thirteen. Two I was in Salt Lake City,
It's all I said, And the biggest upset we had was, uh,
the Harvard Crimson won their first n c A tournament

(09:08):
game against the New Mexico Lobos. Now, we had followed
New Mexico all year, as I had called Mountain West games,
and Steve Alford had a great, great squad. They had
a power forward named Cameron Barstow who actually had a
cup of coffee in the NBA. He was an Aussie.
He was about six seven fifty pounds. He was a monster.

(09:33):
Harvard countered with a guy named Laurent Rivard. Have you
ever heard of Laurent Rivard? Probably not. You might not
have heard of either of them. But he didn't play
in the NBA, but he was a fourth perimeter player.
And the Crimson time and again got Cameron Barstowe lost
defensively because Laurent Rivard was spacing to the corner to

(09:56):
the wing, catching and shooting threes and I think he
only made three or four, but it didn't matter. It's
so discombobulated New Mexico. They never went to a small lineup.
They tried to do what they do do and not
have it work. And when they and and they end

(10:17):
up getting beat. Harvard wasn't better than New Mexico, but
they're able to create one key mismatch, one magic elixir,
one wrench in the plans, and they end up pulling
off the upset that in many ways of what sports

(10:38):
about doesn't mean Miami's better, doesn't mean the Bucks are
a fraud. It does mean that there are matchups which
can expose them like last night. Oh yeah, by the way,
as as we have told you, and I've caught a
ton of heat. Like I stand by what James Harden said.
It doesn't mean that Janice doesn't play hard, doesn't mean
he's not effective at both ends of the floor, but

(10:59):
he is not refined in terms of his skill of shooting, passing,
even post play. Coming up next, the Browns are sending
a very clear message about O'Dell Beckham Jr. And there
how they really feel about them. I'll explain that next.

you guys remember the movie Indecent Proposal? Ryan? Do you

(12:26):
remember the movie Indecent Proposal at all? I do not.
I don't even know what that is. Wow, it's before
your time. Gosh, for we're dating ourselves. Ramos in Decent Proposal.
Robert Redford, Demi Moore, Woody, Harold Demi or is it Demi?
I say Demi? But it could be to me. I
don't know. I don't know WHI personally. So, yeah, you know,
you guys aren't that close. John, He's okay. John's just

(12:49):
trying to be humble. They go way back, they go
they go way way way way Wait, wait, way back buyer.
Do you remember indecent proposal at all? Remember the prem miss,
The premise is what that Robert Redford offered, like a
million dollars to one night, Yeah, for a one night
stand with Demi Moore? Do you go Demi as well? No? No,

(13:11):
I just did it for joy to be more. Um,
that's basically it, right, And and what happens? What happens? Uh?
Ramos you remember, don't I don't remember her. I want
to say. She does not sleep with him? Does he?
Does he take the money? I don't remember. I just

(13:33):
think that Woody Harrelson and to me more, Um, Woody
Harrelson plays guy, David me de me more plays Diana
and they're both really doing well. The recession hits, their
finances take a nose dive. The last ditch effort to
save their dream home, they head to Vegas to try

(13:54):
and win their mortgage money gambling right, they lose everything.
They lose everything, and Robert Redford walks over and says,
a million dollars for a night with your wife, million
dollars And he does in fact take the money, but
of course it essentially ruins you know. Uh, she consents

(14:17):
to spending time with him and a relationship develops. You
gotta go watch the rest of the movie. It's not
a spoiler alert. It's a very old movie, but it's excellent.
The idea is this. The idea is this, No matter
where you are in terms of being rock bottom financially,

(14:37):
you would never offer up your wife if you are
truly in love. Right. That's the That's the true premise
of it, which just doesn't matter how a baud of
debt you're in. You guys can figure it out if
you've got each other, Which brings me to this story.
ESPN reported the Browns would consider moving Odell Beckham Jr.

(14:58):
If they were blown away by a trade offer. Somebody
wants to make them an indecent proposal, they will allow
that to happen. And as much as you could sit
there and go like, well, Khalil Mack two first round picks.
Odell Beckham Jr. Is already under contract, so this is
not a financial and most of the big parts of
the contract have already been paid. Um, this is simply

(15:24):
about putting up with Odell Beckham Jr. Because what's the
would we agree that talent wise? O b J O
b J is a top five talent in terms of
wide receiver in NAH Football League, probably top fifteen in
terms of production because he hasn't always been healthy. His

(15:45):
first four years, he was as productive as any ridewide
receiver in the history of the league. He's a freak
freak talent. But if the Browns are willing to at
least listen to even ridiculous off first, it tells you
where they are with him. It tells you that this
is not a lasting relationship. Right, Ryan Music. You don't

(16:11):
make a ton of money, right, young guy? Bad to
get married. Somebody offers you a million dollars for a
night with your wife, with your fiance. Oh yeah, it's
gonna be a no million dollars cash, no taxes, no taxes.
Oh well, in that case, I thought I was only
gonna end up with like six thousand dollars. So there

(16:35):
you get. There, you have it, because I mean outside
of and you could say, well, everybody is tradeable if
it's a ridiculous trade offer. They didn't even say ridiculously,
just said you were blown away by an offer, make
us your best offer. Let's see what he's worth. You
don't float your house being for sale for a dream

(16:57):
offer unless you're not truly connected to that house. You
don't float the idea of selling your car if you
don't want to sell your car, like if it's your
your special car, and when it's a human being. Plus
once oh b J reads this, here's this, he's done,
He's out, which is essentially what happened in the movie.

(17:20):
Think about other NFL players, like, what is the what
is the hope in trading away a star? What is
the hope? What? What is the hope that you're going
to land another star? Right? Like it's Quentin Nelson of

(17:43):
the Indianapolis Colts. You try to wait, Quentin Nelson, how
many first round picks would you have to trade three?
And what's the what? What? What are you hoping for
out of three first round draft picks? If you can
land one, Quentin Nelson, you already have. Quentin Nelson was
point right. I think it tells you where they are

(18:04):
in that relationship. And by the way, if I'm the Patriots,
I've already made that call, just like I've made a
call in Stefon Diggs and I've said, if we get
Tom Brady, that's what we want to do. I mean,
if if it's truly truly a team, a a relationship fit,

(18:28):
then there is no really asking price that's enough Toyotodell
Beckham Jr. Right, I mean nobody's given five first round
picks or something stupid like that. Two first round picks
is what's a superstar cost? And if you're gonna trade
away Odell Beckham Junior for two first first round picks
when he's already under contract, it's telling us all you
need to know about their relationship with Odell Beckham Jr.

(18:49):
And how they think it ends. Let's get you damn

the world with sports. Dan stock Market only down like

New York Knicks fans have been seeing red for years,
and their most famous fan now seeing red, but won't

(19:10):
be seeing Madison Square Garden very soon. The Knicks released
a statement today saying that Spike Lee is causing a
false controversy to perpetuate drama after Lee had security officials
got into an argument last night about where Lee enters
Madison Square Garden. A Lee says he's not going to
return to MSG this season. The Knicks say they asked
letes and not use an employee entrance and rather use

(19:32):

up entering. Lee called the next statement to the New

thoughts to go out to the people in Nashville. Terrible
tornadoes last night. That stuff is tornadoes are scary, scary, scary, scary.
You know. It's what's interesting about the coronavirus stuff is

(21:18):
how it will affect the n c A tournament. These
conference tournaments upcoming like this is the time of year
not only for March Baddess, but the conference tournaments people
from all over. So Saturday, I have a game for
Fox Oregon, who can win at least a share of
the Pack twelve title with a victory they win, they

(21:41):
gotta beat cal on I think Thursday, and then they
have to beat Stanford on on Saturday. They clinch at
least to share the Pack twelve title hosting Stanford. And
we have some great friends that live in Portland, and
I was thinking about bringing my dude up, dropping in
with his friends and then going to Eugene and go
into the game, come back and getting them and like

(22:01):
everything they have is shut down because there was one
coronavirus case for somebody who was on a trip and
came back to the school. I think that is I mean,
so he's like, look, we we're fine, we're healthy. But
then everything, you know, all day Sunday they're having to

(22:22):
make up for lost time with Little League tryouts, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.
But gonna be interested. Like in the month of March,
you would think TV viewership goes up, but what's it
due to all those arenas that are normally full. Let's
welcome and Chris Sim's former NFL quarterback horse played for
Jon Gruden. You also worked for the New England Patriots.
He now works for a Football Night in America and

(22:43):
Pro Football Talk. He joins us on the Doug Gottlib
Show on Fox Sports Radio. I want to start with this,
Chris Odell Beckham Jr. I'll just read you kind of
the report that the Browns would consider moving Beckham if
they were blown away by a trade option. Um does
Doesn't that mean they're willing to trade? Like once you

(23:06):
say we've got to be blown away by an offer,
doesn't that mean it's over? Yeah? So well, I mean, yeah,
it doesn't mean it's over, but it means that they're not,
you know, hamstrung to any player or specifically this player
on their roster right now. Yeah, it sounds like they'd
be willing to do business and if they got, you know,

(23:27):
the right amount of assets that they felt like improved
their team, that they would make that move. And I
would think that that would be the type of guy
that they're gonna get some calls that will flirt with
what they want and will they make that move, you know,
right off the bat when you tell me that, I
know New England loves Odell Beckham Jr. You've heard I've
broken news before that. I know they've always had their

(23:47):
eye on him. He them as well. You know the
Green Bay Packers. They'd be crazy not to call the
Cleveland Browns right now. You know the Oakland Raiders. I
just started the Las Vegas Raiders. I just heard you
talking about Jon Gruden. Yeah, that would be another one
i'd look at to certainly say they got the assets
and the you know, the draft picks and all that
to make that type of move. So you know, it
doesn't mean he's definitely gone. He is helping them, like

(24:10):
what he's got some say in their new uniform outlook
and things like that. I'm sure they want them and
like them. But at the same time, that does tell
you that, yes, he's not off limits. Doug Gottlie Show
here on Fox Sports Radio. What are you hearing on Brady? Um?
You know the interesting thing is this the one thing

(24:31):
I've heard on Brady and that that is substantial to me.
It's not about money. He's not looking to sign for
anybody for thirty or thirty five million dollars a year
in that way. You know, the one thing I've heard
is this is this is a legacy move. He's not
going He's not going to the Las Vegas Raiders and
gonna be part of a rebuild for a year at
forty three and then go, okay, Raiders, let's win it

(24:53):
at forty four years old, and I'll just like swipe
this year under the rug. No, he's only going to
go to a team that he feels as it can tender,
and he's not looking to break the bank to do that.
So you know, right off the bat, yeah, you think
of the Tennessee Titan. That'll listen. You know, these are
conversations that me and my buddy and Kyle Shanahan that
we don't have anymore. But when I hear Peter King

(25:13):
and Dion Sanders and a handful of other people talking
about Brady with the forty niners, I mean, yeah, my
ears perk up that they didn't just like come conjure
up some idea Like usually with those type of statements
from those type of people who know a lot of
people in the NFL, that would tell me where there's
there's smoke, there must be fire, And I I could

(25:34):
understand Brady wanted to go there with the forty Niners.
Do that. I don't know about that. You know, there's
there's there's a reward there, but there's also a tremendous
risk in making that type of move too. But I
would understand Brady wanting to go to that type of team.
I think that's what's interesting about the Brady conversation here.
You know, when you start to peg it into okay,
teams that could win it this year and put him

(25:56):
in the best spot to do that, you know you're
really talking about you know, only a few teams in
football that fit that, and you know, okay, hey, we
we just talked about the Raiders. How about the Chargers.
People might say that I've got a hard time believing
that Tom Brady's gonna go to the a f C
West and go, Okay, I'll play with Patrick, I'll play
again Patrick home and the Super Bowl champs and roll

(26:17):
the dice on whether I can win the a f
C West every year. I don't see that happening either.
So you know, I don't have anything substantial other than
that money thing. If you still made me bet money, Duck,
I'm betting he ends up back in New England. I am.
I just think again at this point of his career,
to move his family, and then the point I keep
making and things that really I fall back on Doug

(26:40):
is this is he really does he want to go
through the toughest offseason he's had at twenty years since
his rookie year right now at the age of forty three,
because that's what's gonna take to go to a new team,
to instill the culture, to learn the playbook to the
same capacity he knows the New England playbook, which is
what makes him so effective in so many ways as

(27:00):
an endless inventory of offense in his mind because of
the familiarity with that. So I just don't know, if
you know, I I know I wouldn't want to deal
with that, and I just wonder where he's out in
his own mind with that conversation. Gottleive's show here on
Fox Sports Trader, that's the voice of Chris Sims. Okay, so, uh,
Philip Rivers to Indie. My big question is does what

(27:22):
does Philip Rivers have left in the tank? Right? I
think that's the that's the big question. I mean again,
there's another one where I would say, hey, you might
get Philip Rivers and he might be reinvigorated and motivated.
You might get a good year. There's also the very
real possibility that you know, you're playing six one score
games and he throws an interception to lose the game

(27:43):
and five out of the six, you know, and then this,
this is the other thing. This is the take into account,
and this is you know, again, I really like Philip Rivers.
This might sound a little negative, but man, I've I've
heard a lot of clamoring over the last two years,
and you can't really coach Philip Rivers anymore. He's gonna
call the plays he wants, He's gonna do what he wants.
Frank Wich has experienced that before. Does Frank Reich want

(28:06):
to deal with that again? With you know, some young, offensive,
impressionable people on the offensive side of the ball. You know,
a Paris Campbell receivers some of the young offensive lignements.
So it makes sense. I understand that. The one thing
I can tell you that I know is it's over
for Jacoby Percett in Indianapolis. I mean, he might still
be there, but he's not going to be the starting

(28:26):
quarterback with the Colts. Anymore, they are going to find
somebody else to come in and be that guy this year.
Chris Sims, our guest in the Doug Otlips Show on
Fox Sports Radio, What do things going on with the Redskins?
I think if you made me guests, okay, you know,
and you're talking obviously about the Tua conversation, right and
then getting into the quarterback combo even though they drafted

(28:48):
Dwayne Haskins it's fifth team last year. I think two things.
I mean I think one, you know, the new fat
in the NFL is to evaluate these top end quarterbacks,
get to know them no matter what, because hey, we
might sign this guy as a free agent in four
or five years, or maybe we had got the trade
for him, you know, in some capacity. So I do
think that's the new thing in the NFL as far

(29:09):
as the top tier quarterbacks get to know him as
much as you can. UM do I think there may
be setting a smoke screen a little bit to make
people think that that is a possibility of them drafting
to UH to help out their trade chances. Yes, I
do do. I I also think that they're using the
to a conversation as a little bit of a motivational
tactic for Dwayne Haskins. You know, the one thing Dwayne Haskins.

(29:32):
I like the way he ended the year. He really
improved in each game. I like Dwayne Haskins. You know
that We've talked about that, but I know, you know,
I've heard this from a number of people, but you
know they were underwhelmed, especially in the first half of
the year. Was his with his work ethic and attention
to detail and some of those things. And you heard

(29:53):
Ron Rivera when he got the job. I mean he
specifically said he you know, I'm gonna Dwayne Haskins not
annointed starting quarterback. I gotta see Dwayne Haskin work more
and be in the building. He made comments like that.
He didn't make comments like that for nothing. He's heard
the same stories and probably been told the same thing
I have, and a number of other people have been
in the NFL, and I think they're just lighting the

(30:14):
fire under his butt a little bit with this to
a conversation to make sure he gets on his p's
and queues and those that this is the pros and
he's gotta be on his A game every day, not
just once in a while. Um, Okay, if if you
were drafting, would you draft Joe Burrow or twa first? Oh,
I would draft Joe Burrow right now. No, Doug, I'll
be like, you know, two weeks from now, I'll give

(30:36):
you the deep dive quarterback there. I just got my film,
so I'm about to dive in here starting tomorrow. Um.
Right now, just at a topical level TV scouting, you know,
I would probably go Joe Burrow to uh. I love
to his game to a scares the death out of me.
He does scare me, and he's gonna scare other teams too,

(30:57):
you know. One. You know he he's a smaller quarterback.
I've been around him two different times now. He's just
he's not a real big guy. Okay, So that he
plays a style of football that you know, teeters on
the edge of reckless to a degree or backyard ish, right,
And of course he has an injury history. So the
injury history, along with the lack of size and then

(31:20):
the style of play that would concern me. There's no
doubt about that. You know, he know, he's charismatic and
talented and all those things. But I would really have
to be comfortable with some of the medical stuff. And
just being around the guy and seeing a mood during
a workout and all that. So as of right now, yeah,
I would say Joe Burrow dou Gotlieves show here on

(31:41):
Fox Sports Radio. The Vikes continue to say Stefan Diggs
will be on their roster, but Stefon Diggs not crazy
happy about the system last year. Granted, Kevin Stefanski leaves
not crazy happy about his role with Adam feeling being
there and and and look that they they're up at
instant cap wise, not just in this year, but in

(32:02):
future years. Do you think he's a Viking first game
of the season. I I do think it's fifty fifty.
I do. I think he is gonna he is gonna
be a guy that teams are gonna call about. You know,
it's not a crazy number to pay for a player
like that. He's in the prime of his career, for

(32:23):
the talent he has. You know, Doug, I don't know
here and I have no inside feel I'm gonna say
though he is not on their team the start of
next year. Totally a gut feeling. But you know the
things you mentioned. You know, they have some salary cap issues,
They have too many high end player as it is. Anyways,
one of their issues is depth in the rotation of
their football team. The last two years, they just die

(32:46):
out as the year goes on because they have to
play basically like the same two twenty two players all
game long, for sixteen games a year. So that is
an issue there. And you know, with him being I
would say it's probably is asking for would never be
higher than right now with him being in the prime
of his career and healthy and everything like that. Yeah,
I'm gonna bet that somebody ends up making a call

(33:08):
and he ends up somewhere else. Is the quarterback where
next year? Say that again, Cam Newton, where he playing
next year? I'm gonna go with the Chargers, I am.
I don't think I'll just say this. I don't think
there's any way. I don't think he'll be back with Carolina.
I just don't see it happen. A new regime there.
He's starting to make comments about all he wants is
a little respect, you know. I just think both both playing,

(33:31):
both entities there could use a fresh start. And if
I'm Matt Rule and Joe Brady and you're started, you
want to instill a new culture there and build something.
I'm not necessarily sure. I'd want Cam Newton who's part
of the old regime and used to things being done
a certain way, you know, kind of instilling that culture.
Either not to say that Cam Newton's a bad guy
or anything like that. I know he's a great guy

(33:52):
and loved in the locker room, but he's used to
things being done his own way. And I would think Matt,
you know, Matt Rule and Joe Brady would want their
own guy in there and and try to grow something,
because this seems like it's a long haul. Play by
David Tepper and the Carolina Panthers. Awesome stuff, Pro Football
Talk and UH Football Night in America's Chris Simms. Chris,

(34:13):
thanks so much for joining us. Look forward to hearing
your breakdown as you get to dive into those films.

(34:33):
save a bucker too. When you bundle home or Ottova's
at Farmers dot com or call one Farmers to get
a quote. Today we are fer um a move that
could be made in the National Football League, which we
have been a long proponent of that upcoming Chris Simms
will join us from Pro Football Talk as we get
ready for more Tom Brady, Thomas Edward Patrick Brady discussion

(34:58):
Spike Lee making an idiot of himself help on national TV.
But that's that's the times of which we live in. Actually,
you know what, We're gonna get to the Milwaukee Bucks
in a second. I want to read this because it
was just recently released. So if you've been watching, Spike
Lee has gone on TV and he's picked on low
hanging fruit, which is James Dolan, the owner of the

(35:19):
New York Knicks, and said that James Dolan is harassing
him kicked him out of the game last night. Here's
a statement from the Knicks. The idea that Spike Lee
is a victim because we have repeatedly asked him not
to use the employee interests instead use the dedicated v
I P entrance, which is used by every other celebrity
who enters the garden is laughable. It's disappointed that Spike

(35:41):
would create this false controversy to perpetuate drama. He's welcome
the garden anytime via the V I P or general entrance,
just not through the employee entrance, which he which is
what he and Jim agreed to last night when they
shook hands. This is what we do in an effort.
We do this in sports, we do it in politics.

(36:05):
I get it. Nobody likes James Dolan. I get it.
The Knicks stink. All of this is in fact understood.
All of it it is understood. But creating a nontroversy
ends up kind of nullifying any legit controversies. Creating a

(36:28):
controversy only makes you look like an idiot and makes
people with legit gripes feel less uh uh, less real,
less true. All right, let's get to let's get to
real issues, like the Milwaukee Bucks. Are they somehow fallible? Yeah?

(36:51):
So last night the Milwaukee Bucks lost for the second
time this season, a second time this season to the
Miami Heat. And you know what we do. We don't
really pay attention to the regular season unless we pay
attention to the regular season, and in this particular case,

(37:12):
we're paying attention to some nondescript game in early March
in which the Heat took down the Bucks. Is it
caused for concern, Yes and no. Yes in that we've
seen Mike Budenholzer and his style work in the regular
season before and it hasn't worked in the postseason. No,

(37:33):
in that it's just a regular season game. Yes, in
that there is a specific matchup that the Miami Heat
have for Janice Right, they have athletic defenders that are
strong enough so that he can't play down here. They
got Bam out of Bio, who is the Honice stopper.

(37:55):
They collapse, they expand, They have Jimmy Butler who's top
and some into bad shots, and they have a scheme,
they have a system, they have the personnel that's been
able to outwit the Milwaukee Bucks. Sports is about a
lot of things. Sports about a lot of things. Sometimes

(38:20):
it's about who wants it more, desire to be there.
A matter of fact, the Miami Heat have oftentimes one
games at home because of the South Beach flu. Right,
teams come down from the Northeast and they get to
the warm weather, and they get to the club scene
and they hang out and they put their last beer
down they go to shoot around, they sleep all day,
and they sleep walk through the game at night. That happens.

(38:41):
Sports is about that sometimes, especially professional sports. Sports at
times is about who's better. Sports is about who's healthier,
and sports is also about matchups. Like look, the the
takeaway is no different than might take away with the
Rockets and the Lakers. The Lakers are empirically better than

(39:03):
the Rockets, but the Rockets are a really tough matchup
for the Lakers. Why Lakers are kind of top heavy
even with the addition of Marquise Moore, Markis Morris, They
have Dwight Howard, they have Javal McGee, who are basically
useless against the playing style and personnel of the Houston Rockets,

(39:26):
right because the counter two playing small ball is pound
them inside, and neither of them are really traditional low
post players, and whatever they give you on offense gets
nullified by their inability to guard on defense. So I
I just want to point out that the Heat aren't

(39:48):
better than the Bucks, but the Heat are a problem
for the Bucks. The Rockets aren't better than than the Lakers,
but the Rockets are a problem for the Lakers. And
then if you forward it even more, why the Golden
State Warriors win seventy three games before Kevin Durant got there.

(40:09):
And why were they so dominant, getting to three NBA
Finals and nearly winning a third championship if not for
health be following them last year Because no one had
the elixir, no one had the right matchup. Teams had
not yet evolved to having that type of light up
enough quality small ballplayers, and now I think they have.

(40:30):
So if you're the Bucks or a Buck fan and
you're trying to figure out can they get to the finals?
The answer is yes and maybe no. Are the Lakers
better than the Clippers? Yes? But can they get by
the Rockets? Maybe no? And will the Warriors returned to dominance. Maybe,
But it's a different league than the one they left.

(40:52):
The one they left was a step ahead of everyone
else and they were all playing catch up, trying to
cobble together a small ball lineup. Now everyone has one,
and some are perfecting it. Maybe not to the level
of the Golden State Warriors, but not that far off.
Sports is about a lot of things. Health is important,

(41:13):
Home and road is important. Desire to win and to
compete and to prepare is important. Coaching is important, making
shots and mission shots is important. But matchups, style matchups,
personnel matchups oftentimes are the biggest decider in who wins
and who loses and wine. I'll give you one last example.

(41:38):
My first year calling n c A tournament games was
two thousand thirteen. Two. I was in Salt Lake City,
It's all I said. And the biggest upset we had was, uh,
the Harvard Crimson one their first n c A tournament

(42:01):
game against the New Mexico Lobos. Now we had followed
New Mexico all year, as I had called Mountain West games,
and Steve Alford had a great, great squad. They had
a power for named Cameron Barstow, who actually had a
cup of coffee in the NBA. He was an Aussie.
He was about six seven, fifty pounds. He was a monster.

(42:26):
Harvard countered with a guy named Laurent Rivard. Have you
ever heard of Laurent Rivard. Probably not. You might not
have heard of either of them. But he didn't play
in the NBA. But he was a fourth perimeter player.
And the Crimson time and again got Cameron Barstow lost
defensively because Laurent Rivard was spacing to the corner to

(42:49):
the wing, catching and shooting threes, and I think he
only made three or four, but it didn't matter. It's
so discombobulated New Mexico. They never went to a small line.
They tried to do what they do do and not
have it work. And when they and and they end

(43:10):
up getting beat. Harvard wasn't better than New Mexico, but
they're able to create one key mismatch, one magic elixir,
one wrench in the plans, and they end up pulling
off the upset that in many ways of what sports

(43:31):
about doesn't mean Miami's better, doesn't mean the Bucks are
a fraud. It does mean that there are matchups which
can expose them like last night. Oh yeah, by the way,
as as we have told you, and I've caught a
ton of heat. Like I stand by what James Harden said.
It doesn't mean that Janice doesn't play hard. Doesn't mean
he's not effective at both ends of the floor, but

(43:52):
he is not refined in terms of his skill of shooting, passing,
even post play. Come up next. The Browns are sending
a very clear message about O'Dell Beckham Jr. And there
how they really feel about them. I'll explain that next.

you guys remember the movie Indecent proposal. Ryan, do you
remember the movie Indecent Proposal at all? I do not.
I don't even know what that is. Wow, it's before

(45:16):
your time. Gosh, for we're dating ourselves. Ramos in Decent Proposal,
Robert Redford, Demi Moore, Woody Harold, did you go Demi?
Or is it Tomi? I say Demi, but it could
be to me. I don't know. I don't know what personally.
So yeah, you know you guys aren't that close John.
He's okay. John's just trying to be humble. They go

(45:37):
way back, they go, they go way way, way, way, way,
way way back. Bayer, do you remember Indecent Proposal at all?
Remember the premise? The premise is what that Robert Redford
offered like a million dollars to one night Yeah, for
a one night stand with Demi Moore? Do you go
Demi as well? No? No, I just did it for

(45:57):
Johnson to be more. Um, that's basically it, right, And
and what happens? What happens? Uh? Ramos, you remember, don't
I don't remember her. I want to say, she does
not sleep with him? Does he? Does he take the money?
I don't remember. I just Woody Harrelson into me More

(46:22):
um Woody Harrelson plays this guy, David mean de me
More plays Diana, and they're both really doing well. The
recession hits, their finances take a nose dive. The last
ditch effort to save their dream home, they had to
Vegas to try and win their mortgage money gambling right,

(46:44):
they lose everything. They lose everything, and Robert Redford walks
over and says, a million dollars for a night with
your wife. Million dollars And he does in fact take
the money, but of course it essentially the ruins, you know. Uh.
She consents to spending time with him and a relationship develops.

(47:06):
You gotta go watch the rest of the movie. It's
not a spoiler alert. It's a very old movie, but
it's excellent. The idea is this. The idea is this,
No matter where you are in terms of being rock
bottom financially, you would never offer up your wife if
you are truly in love. Right. That's the That's the

(47:28):
true premise of it, which just doesn't matter how bad
of debt you're in. You guys can figure it out
if you've got each other, Which brings me to this story.
ESPN reported the Browns would consider moving Odell Beckham Jr.
If they were blown away by a trade offer somebody
wants to make them an indecent proposal, it will allow

(47:49):
that to happen. And as much as you could sit
there and go like well, Khalil Mack two first round picks,
Odell Beckham Jr. Is already under contract, so this is
not a financially and most of the big parts of
the contract have already been paid. Um, this is simply

(48:10):
about putting up with Odell Beckham Jr. Because what's the
would we agree that talent wise? O b j oh
b j is a top five talent in terms of
wide receiver in nash Fvillball League, probably top fifteen in
terms of production because he hasn't always been healthy. His

(48:31):
first four years, he was as productive as any ride
wide receiver in the history of the league. He's a
freak freak talent. But if the Browns are willing to
at least listen to even ridiculous offers, it tells you
where they are with him. It tells you that this
is not a lasting relationship. Right, Ryan Music, You don't

(48:56):
make a ton of money, right, young guy? Bad to
get married. Somebody offers you a million dollars for a
night with your wife, with your fiance. Oh yeah, it's
gonna be a no million dollars cash, no taxes, no taxes.
Oh well, in that case, I thought I was only
gonna end up with like six thousand dollars. So there

(49:21):
you get. There, you have it, because I mean outside
of and you could say, well, everybody is tradeable if
it's a ridiculous trade offer. They didn't even say ridiculous.
They just said you were blown away by an offer,
make us your best offer. Let's see what he's worth.
You don't float your house being for sale for a

(49:43):
dream offer unless you're not truly connected to that house.
You don't float the idea of selling your car if
you don't want to sell your car, like if it's
your your special car, and when it's a human being.
Plus once oh b J reads this, here's this, he's done,
he's out, which is essentially what happened in the movie.

(50:06):
Think about other NFL players, like, what is the what
is the hope in trading away a star? What is
the hope? What? What is the hope that you're going
to land another star? Right? Like it's Quentin Nelson of

(50:29):
the Indianapolis Colts. You try to wait, Quentin Nelson, how
many first round picks would you have to trade three?
And what's the what? What? What are you hoping for
out of three first round draft picks? If you can
land one, Quentin Nelson, you already have Quenten Nelson's point, Right.

(50:49):
I think it tells you where they are in that relationship.
And by the way, if I'm the Patriots, I've already
made that call, just like I've made a call in
Stefon Diggs and I've said if we get Tom Brady,
that's what we want to do. I mean, if if
it's truly truly a team, a a relationship fit, then

(51:09):
there is no really asking price that's enough toot Odell
Beckham Jr. Right, I mean nobody has given five first
round picks or something stupid like that. Two first round
picks is what's a superstar cost? And if you're gonna
trade away Odell Beckham Junior for two first first round
picks when he's already under contract, it's telling us all
you need to know about their relationship with Odell Beckham Jr.

(51:29):
And how they think it ends. Let's get you damn

Doug Gotlip Show Fox Sports Radio. UM thoughts to go
out to the people in Nashville. Terrible tornadoes last night.
That stuff is tornadoes are scary, scary, scary, scary. You know.
It's what's interesting about the coronavirus stuff is how it

(54:00):
will affect the n c A tournament, these conference tournaments upcoming,
like this is the time of year not only for
March Baddess, but the conference tournaments people from all over.
So Saturday, I have a game for Fox Oregon. Who
can win at least to share of the Pack twelve title.

(54:20):
With a victory they win, they gotta beat cal on
I think Thursday, and then they have to beat Stanford
on on Saturday. They clinch at least to share the
Pack twelve title hosting Stanford. And we have some great
friends that live in Portland, and I was thinking about
bringing my dude up, dropping in with his friends and
then going to Eugene and go into the game, come

(54:41):
back and getting him, and like everything they have is
shut down because there was one coronavirus case for somebody
who was on a trip and came back to the school.
I think that is I mean, so he's like, look,
we we're fine, we're healthy. But then everything you know,

(55:01):
all day Sunday they're having to make up for lost
time with Little league tryouts, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. But gonna
be interested. Like in the month of March, you would
think TV viewership goes up, but what's it due to
all those arenas that are normally full. Let's welcome and
Chris Simm's former NFL quarterback Course played for Jon Gruden.
You also worked for the New England Patriots. He now

(55:22):
works for a Football Night in America and Pro Football Talk.
He joins us on the Doug Gotlib Show on Fox
Sports Radio. I want to start with this, Chris Odell
Beckham Jr. I'll just read you kind of the report
that the Browns would consider moving Beckham if they were
blown away by a trade option. Um, does doesn't that

(55:45):
mean they're willing to trade? Like once you say, we've
got to be blown away by an offer. Doesn't that
mean it's over? Yeah, so well, I mean, yeah, it
doesn't mean it's over, but it means that they're not,
you know, hamstrung to any player or specifice this player
on their roster right now. Yeah, it sounds like they'd
be willing to do business and if they got you know,

(56:08):
the right amount of assets that they felt like improved
their team, that they would make that move. And I
would think that that would be the type of guy
that they're gonna get some calls that will flirt with
what they want and will they make that move? You know,
right off the bat when you tell me that, I
know New England loves Odell Beckham Jr. You've heard, I've
broken news before that. I know they've always had their

(56:28):
eye on him. He them as well. You know the
Green Bay Packers, they'd be crazy not to call the
Cleveland Browns right now. You know the Oakland Raiders. I
just started the Las Vegas Raiders. I just heard you
talking about Jon Gruden. Yeah, that would be another one
i'd look at to certainly say they got the assets
and the you know, the draft picks and all that
to make that type of move. So you know it
doesn't mean he's definitely gone. He is helping them, like

(56:51):
what he's got some say in their new uniform outlook
and things like that. I'm sure they want them and
like them. But at the same time, that does tell you, yes,
he's not off limits. Doug Gottlie Show here on Fox
Sports Radio. What are you hearing on Brady? Um? You know,
the interesting thing is this the one thing I've heard

(57:12):
on Brady that that is substantial to me. It's not
about money. He's not looking to sign for anybody for
thirty or thirty five million dollars a year in that way.
You know. The one thing I've heard is this is
this is a legacy move. He's not going He's not
going to the Las Vegas Raiders and gonna be part
of a rebuild for a year at forty three and
then go, okay, Raiders, let's win it at forty four

(57:35):
years old, and I'll just like swipe this year under
the rug. No, he's only going to go to a
team that he feels as a contender, and he's not
looking to break the bank to do that. So you know,
right off the bat, yeah, you think of the Tennessee
Titan now listen. You know, these are conversations that me
and my buddy and Kyle Shanahan that we don't have anymore.
But when I hear Peter King and Dion Sanders and

(57:56):
a handful of other people talking about Brady with the
forty nine, I mean, yeah, my ears perk up that
they didn't just like come conjure up some idea like
usually with those type of statements from those type of
people who know a lot of people in the NFL
that would tell me, where there's there's smoke, there must
be fire. And I I could understand Brady wanted to

(58:17):
go there with do that. I don't know about that.
You know, there's there's there's a reward there, but there's
also a tremendous risk in making that type of move too.
But I would understand Brady wanting to go to that
type of team. I think that's what's interesting about the
Brady conversation here. You know, when you start to peg
it into okay, teams that could win it this year

(58:37):
and put him in the best spot to do that,
you know you're really talking about you know, only a
few teams in football that fit that, and you know, okay, hey,
we were just talking about the Raiders, how about the Chargers.
People might say that I just got a hard time
believing that Tom Brady's gonna go to the a f
C West and go, Okay, I'll play with Patrick, I'll
play against Patrick home and the Super Bowl champs and

(58:58):
roll the dice on whether I can win the A
SEE West every year. I don't see that happening either.
So you know, I don't have anything substantial other than
that money thing. If you still made me bet money, Dug,
I'm betting he ends up back in New England. I am.
I just think again at this point of his career
to move his family, and then the point I keep

(59:18):
making and thing that really I fall back on Doug
is this is he really does he want to go
through the toughest offseason he's had at twenty years since
his rookie year right now at the age of forty three,
because that's what's gonna take to go to a new team,
to instill the culture, to learn the playbook to the
same capacity he knows the New England playbook, which is

(59:38):
what makes him so effective in so many ways as
an endless inventory of offense in his mind because of
the familiarity with that. So I just don't know if
you know, I I know I wouldn't want to deal
with that, And I just wonder where he's out in
his own mind with that conversation. Gotlie's show here on
Fox Sports Trader. That's the voice of Chris Sims. Okay, so, uh,
Philip Rivers to Indie. My big question is does what

(01:00:03):
does Philip Rivers have left in the tank? Right? I
think that's the that's the big question. I mean again,
there's another one where I would say, hey, you might
get Philip Rivers and he might be reinvigorated and motivated
and you might get a good year. There's also the
very real possibility that you know, you're playing six one
score games and he throws an interception to lose the

(01:00:24):
game and five out of the six, you know, and
then this is this is the other thing. This is
the take into account, and this is you know again,
I really like Philip Rivers. This might sound a little negative,
but man, I've I've heard a lot of clamoring over
the last two years, and you can't really coach Philip
Rivers anymore. He's gonna call the players he wants. He's
gonna do what he wants. Frank Reich has experienced that before.

(01:00:46):
Does Frank Reich want to deal with that again? With
you know, some young, offensive, impressionable people on the offensive
side of the ball. You know, a Paris Campbell receivers
some of the young offensive linement. So it makes sense.
I understand that. The one thing I can tell you
that I know is it's over for Jacoby per Set
in Indianapolis. I mean, he might still be there, but

(01:01:06):
he's not going to be the starting quarterback with the
Colts anymore. They are going to find somebody else to
come in and be that guy this year. Chris Sims,
our guest in the Doug Otlips Show on Fox Sports Radio,
what are things going on with the Redskins? I think
if you made meet guests, okay, you know, and you're
talking obviously about the Tua conversation, right and then getting

(01:01:27):
into the quarterback combo even though they drafted Dayne Haskins
it's fifteen last year. I think two things. I mean
I think one, you know, the new fat in the
NFL is to evaluate these top end quarterbacks, get to
know them no matter what, because hey, we might sign
this guy as a free agent in four or five years,
or maybe we had got the trade for him, you know,
in some capacity. So I do think that's the new

(01:01:49):
thing in the NFL as far as the top tier
quarterbacks get to know him as much as you can.
Um do I think there may be setting a smoke
screen a little bit to make people think that that
is a possibility of them drafting Tah to help out
their trade chances. Yes, I do do. I I also
think that they're using the to a conversation as a
little bit of a motivational tactic for Dwayne Haskins. You know,

(01:02:12):
the one thing Dwayne Haskins I like the way he
defended the year. He really improved in each game. I
like Dwayne Haskins. You know that We've talked about that,
but I know, you know, I've heard this from a
number of people, but you know, they were underwhelmed, especially
in the first half of the year. Was his with
his work ethic and attention to detail and some of

(01:02:33):
those things. And you heard Ron Rivera when he got
the job. I mean he specifically said he you know,
I'm gonna Dwayne Haskins not anointed the starting quarterback. I
gotta see Dwayne Haskin work more and be in the building.
He made comments like that. He didn't make comments like
that for nothing. He's heard the same stories and probably
been told the same thing I have, and a number
of other people have been in the NFL, and I

(01:02:54):
think they're just lighting a fire under his butt a
little bit with this to a conversation to make sure
he gets on his p's and queus and knows that
this is the pros and he's gotta be on his
A game every day, not just once in a while. Um. Okay,
if if you were drafting, would you draft Yoe Burrow
or twa first? Oh? I would draft Joe Burrow right now?
No does I'll be like, you know, two weeks from now,

(01:03:16):
I'll give you the deep dive quarterback. They I just
got my film, so I'm about to dive in here
starting tomorrow. Um right now, just at a topical level
TV scouting, you know, I would probably go Joe Burrow
to uh. I love to his game to a scares
the death out of me. He does scare me, and
he's gonna scare other teams too, you know. One. You

(01:03:40):
know he's a smaller quarterback. I've been around him two
different times. Now. He's just he's not a real big guy, Okay,
So that he plays a style of football that you know,
teeters on the edge of reckless to a degree or
backyard ish, right, And of course he has an injury history.
So the injury history along with the lack of size

(01:04:00):
and then the style of play that would concern me.
There's no doubt about that. You know, he No, he's
charismatic and talented and all those things, but I would
really have to be comfortable with some of the medical
stuff and just being around the guy and seeing a
mood during a workout and all that. So as of
right now, yeah, I would say Joe Burrow Doug Gottlives

(01:04:21):
show here on Fox Sports Radio. The Vikings continue to
say Stefan Diggs will be on their roster, but Stefon
Diggs not crazy happy about the system last year, granted,
Kevin Stefanski leaves not crazy happy about his role with
Adam Feeling being there and and and look that they
they're up against it cap wise, not just in this year,

(01:04:42):
but in future years. Do you think he's a Viking
first game of the season. I I do think it's
fifty fifty. I do. I think he is gonna he
is gonna be a guy that teams are gonna call about.
You know, it's not a crazy number to a for
a player like that. He's in the prime of his career. Uh,

(01:05:04):
for the talent he has. You know, Doug, I don't
know here and I have no inside feel. I'm gonna
say though he is not on their team the start
of next year. Totally a gut feeling. But you know
the things you mentioned. You know, they have some salary
cap issues. They have too many high end player as
it is. Anyways, one of their issues is depth in
the rotation of their football team. The last two years,

(01:05:26):
they just die out as the year goes on because
they have to play basically like the same two twenty
two players all game long, for sixteen games a year.
So that is an issue there. And you know, with
him being I would say it is probably his asking
price would never be higher than right now with him
being in the prime of his career and healthy and
everything like that. Yeah, I'm gonna bet that somebody ends

(01:05:48):
up making a call and he ends up somewhere else.
Is the quarterback where next year? Say that again. Cam
Newton where's he playing next year? I'm gonna go with
the Chargers, I am. I don't think I'll just say this.
I don't think there's any way. I don't think he'll
be back with Carolina. I just don't see it happen.
A new regime there. He's starting to make comments about
all he wants is a little respect, you know. I

(01:06:10):
just think both both play, both entities there could use
a fresh start. And if I'm Matt Rule and Joe
Brady and you're started, you want to instill a new
culture there and build something. I'm not necessarily sure. I'd
want Cam Newton, who's part of the old regime and
used to things being done a certain way, you know,
kind of instilling that culture. Either not to say that
Cam Newton's a bad guy or anything like that. I

(01:06:32):
know he's a great guy and loved in the locker room,
but he's used to things being done his own way.
And I would think Matt, you know, Matt Rule and
Joe Brady would want their own guy in there and
and try to gross something because this seems like it's
a long haul play by David Tepper and the Carolina Panthers.
Awesome stuff, pro Football Talk and UH Football Night in

(01:06:52):
America's Chris Simms. Chris, thanks so much for joining us.
Look forward to hearing your breakdown as you get to
dive into those films. Thanks dude, you're the man. Doug.
I'll tell pleasures mind he's the best player in the world.
Right now, I'll tell you who it is next Doug
Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio. Every day at this time

(01:07:13):
we'd like to get you updated on the stories of
the day, the games, the night. We do so by
playing a game. Okay, this is game time side on
the Doug Gottlieb Show. Year you could start your new
life as an I T PROD as little as four months.
Go to my Computer Career dot eedu and take the

(01:07:34):
free career evaluation today. It's not Rocket Science, it's my
computer career dot e d U. Day by what he
got dog? The game today is rank alright quick NFL
though Adam Schefter's reporting that the Jaguars are trading E. J.
Booyer to the Denver Broncos for a fourth row pick. Yeah,
the makeover alright, Doug, let's sall rank stuff. Think your

(01:08:00):
top three in the n By the way, no, never never,
just like, I've never heard Dan the Man, Dan the Man,
never heard that. Uh, Dougie Fresh, Dougie Fresh. Sure that
makes you, guys would be the Get Fresh crew. Rank
your top three m VP candidates. Guys you think that

(01:08:22):
sport NBA? I just want to make sure. I mean,
because there's MVP candidates in every sport, right sure? NHL.
Uh have no idea, literally no idea. City Crosby, Alex Ovechkin.
That's all I got, economic David there there's okay NBA. Yes, Lebron,

(01:08:47):
James Janice and Bradley Beale. M M. I love the
third one a little different. He's been the most dominant
score in the NBA. Just had a bad team. Rank
your top three players you'd go pay to see in
the NBA, which I think is a conversation we had
maybe a week or two ago. But yeah, um, would

(01:09:11):
I pay to go see? MHM? Steph all right, Steph
Curry see one or three? He's one, Steph curious one?
Um zion would be too uh and ipparently the Lebron

(01:09:38):
probably three. I've seen Lebron, and I've seen Lebrons. I
haven't seen the other two. It doesn't be a topic
Doug rank your top three favorites conference tournaments, says, the
conference tournaments are going to be getting under way. Favorites
in terms of what just what has a special place
in your heart, whether it was even covering or playing

(01:09:59):
or Big probably number one, right, Big East would be
two because in the Garden, and I think the Big
ten this year. You know the A C. C. When
he used to always be on Tobacco Road, I'm gonna
be in Greensboro to coliseum was awesome, started moving around
spanning the conference. I'll do Big twelve, one, Big Ease.

(01:10:22):
Two Vegas. If you just said Vegas because they hat
the w C c UH this week and you got
the Mountain West this week, like Vegas is a good answer.
I sent the tweet out about that because I was
always used to the Mountain West Conference having their championship
game on the Saturday before Selection Sunday, but the Mountain
West Conference starts this week. Did some research and found

(01:10:43):
out that because of the construction trade show that is
going to be enormous in Vegas, the Mountain West decided
to move it up a week earlier because the trade
show is going to be happening. Um the selection Sunday weekend.
There was some concern everybody are in tours here at
Fox Sports during the hotel US. Yeah, concern over hotel rooms.
But yeah, so that's why the Mountain West Conferences they

(01:11:04):
don't have enough hotel rooms or your for your convention.
That's a big as convention, that's huge. Doug, rank your
top three current coaches that you'd want on your bench
entering the n C Double A Tournament. Current coaches, current coaches, Um,
all right, I will go Tomas oh three, Bill Self two,

(01:11:30):
and uh, I'm gonna go this Chris Beard one. M
Chris Beard one? Was there? Was it just a matter
of was there somebody else that you were thinking or
was trying to think? If you go most successful in

(01:11:52):
coach k Royd Williams. Those guys are great, you know,
but you know, just in terms of coaching, look at
what Chris Beard has done both in Arkansas a little
rock ins in sweet sixteen, what he's done in Texas Tech,
you know, getting to the final four last year. Yeah,
I you know, considering, I don't think anybody can do
it with the talent that coach k and Roy Willams
have done it with. But I think a lot more

(01:12:13):
people can do it than could do what Chris Beards done.
All right, Doug, finally rank your top three favorite alcoholic drinks.
The only reason I bring this up, and this is
this isn't just random. Is there was there was the
video of the little kid having the sip of coke

(01:12:33):
Coca Cola for the first time. Yeah, and you made
the joke of like this was me on my first
So that's why I'm like, all right, let's bring it back.
Let's see Uh this, Doug, like to sit down to
a nice glass of Scotch at night? Or are we
going beer Bruski? What do we got? Uh? Moscow mule
would be one Moscow mules one um, any kind of

(01:12:59):
Mexican beer Madella pacifico, I guess corona um dose that
keys would all be too. And if I had to
pick a third, uh greyhound like good greyhound greyhound there
is And that's right. This is game time on the

(01:13:23):
Duck Gottlieb Show. By what you don't drink? Right? Yeah,
So I'm kind of a little lost on this. So
you don't know Moscow mules no? No? Is it better
at moscow no vodka? All right? Um, squeeze a lime
and club soda. I think that's it. Now, what else

(01:13:44):
is it? Or is it totally wrong? What is it? Well,
it's not totally wrong, it's there. I don't think it's
clubs So it's ginger beer. Oh yeah, I'm sorry it
is ginger I'm I'm thinking of Yeah, I'm thinking of
of vodka, vodka, soda. Yes, ginger beer, which is um
a ginger beer and vodka and lime. That that's a

(01:14:04):
mosqu communite and usually do it those copper cups, sure,
copper cups. And then a greyhound is grapefruit juice in vodka?
My my, my alcohol of choices either tequila or vodka?
My good hall opeenion mark as well? Or is the
shot of tequila that's also good? All right? Coming up next,
We've got a bunch of things to get to. I

(01:14:25):
love the rankum, that's fun. Will Brinson is gonna join
us next hour. I've been right about historically about things
like I'll fore ever think I'm right about paying players,
and now you why you shouldn't do it in college?
How the one in done rule and people pushing for
guys to be out of college. Ruly, he's gonna ruin

(01:14:47):
both college sports and hurt the NBA. I think I've
been writing the Pats and Brady all along. I'll explain
it to you next in the Doug Gotlip Show Fox
Sports Radio. Right now, if you tune in a lot
of NBA telecast the announcers are hate watching their own
game like it. It's amazing to me. This is media bashing.

(01:15:10):
No second this I agree with him. Yeah, you'll tune in,
they'll be like, well, what's happening here? Like they're shooting
too many three pointers? Like back in, it's crazy. I
think we have the best game that highlights our best
athletes in the world every single night. And and again

(01:15:30):
it's almost like cognitive distance. People tune in and they're
like being told how they shouldn't watch and how and how. Uh.
You know, it's not a fun game to watch. It's
it's it's bizarre to me, like the NFL would never
let it happen. Uh And and I don't understand it
the Gotlip Show on Fox Sports Radio. Uh, I disagree there.

(01:15:54):
I disagree there. Um. I I agree with some of
his premise in that there there is some back in
my day when you have older players broadcasting NBA games um,
I do think there are things missing for the you know, look,
I don't understand why NBA games are broadcast the way

(01:16:14):
way way which they are. There's so there's so many
interesting things that happened in an NBA game that go
missed based upon the way some not all people broadcast.
I don't think that's Van Gundi and Mark Jackson and
Breen great team. Um I don't actually think it's Reggie Miller.

(01:16:37):
I think that's a shot at Barkley. That's a shot
that's shock more so than the shot at actual broadcasts.
But I do think like pointing out why coaches are
doing what they're doing, pointing out mismatches and angles and
sets and why a sub is being made, and it

(01:16:58):
would really help educate the viewer, you know, would help
educate the viewer. Why is this guy come off the
bench because he's not good enough to do what he
does against backups, against starters. Let me show you using
the video. So I think some of that is the
people that are calling the game. Some of that is

(01:17:19):
how we've always broadcast games. Some of it is also
you you can be honest and you know, Darryl Moore,
if you want a cheerleader. That's not a good broadcast either.
NFL games aren't cheerleading, but I do think that when
you have X players and the game has changed and evolved.
But if you've ever heard the all positive broadcast, the

(01:17:41):
local broadcast, those aren't great either. It's just a happy
medium there. And if you're gonna teach, that's the best way.
The best way is to teach, to teach without lecturing
and calling a game. I want to see how it's
done Oregon, Stanford, Saturday night on Fox Sports one. There
you go. It's called a clinic. Bro. It's called a clinic. Bro.

(01:18:04):
That's how we roll, bro. Um. Have you ever done
K one Speed? Different in the K one Speed music
as you've done it? Go kart racing indoors Electric? Oh,
I got a story for you on that. Should we
be worried about the bucks? And a go kart racing

(01:18:27):
story next to the Doug Gotlip Show? What Up? Tug
Gotlip Show? Fox Sports Radio brought you by Farmers in
Church does the thing or two? But how to save
a buck or two? When you but a homer on oversit.
Farmers dot com are called one hundred farmers to get

(01:18:47):
a quote today, things we should be worried about. I
talk about fears all the time with my kids, fears
all the time. My son is afraid of robbers. I
don't know it's afraid of robbers. Its stems back about
a year a little bit more than a year ago.

(01:19:10):
In southern California, we have what's called the Santa Ana winds.
Santa Ana winds or winds that come up the desert
and um in the in the winter. They can they're
obviously very dry. They can be very cold and crisp
in the you know, spring and fall months. They can
be very hot and dry. A lot of times they
caused fires. We bought a house that had the original

(01:19:32):
aluminum windows, and aluminum windows they rattle. So he was
in his room it was rattling, and I don't know,
he got scared next to you know, he's in somebody.
He was in our bed. So I said, hey, dude,
what are you scared of? He's like robbers, that's not

(01:19:53):
you're on the second floor. Okay, if it was me
and I one, we have an alarm. Secondly, if is
me and you break into a house, you don't want kids,
no offense. If I'm gonna take one. That's the one
I'm gonna take, right, it's the best one. You don't
want kids the kid's rooms, not where the money is hidden. Right,

(01:20:14):
you break in, you're looking for stuff to take money, jewelry, whatever,
that's not in the kid's room. You're actually safer in
your room than you are in our room. Plus you're upstairs,
dog a bark, a bunch of steps you have to
go through in order to get to a kid's room.
Didn't feel like that's a legitimate fear. Um last week

(01:20:38):
or the week before, I think my kids had off
school for a ski week. Yeah, you know you're live
in a tough side of the tracks when they have
ski week. No, it's your kids can go snow skiing. Anyway.
One of my daughters want to go camping with her friends,
and my wife was like, yeah, not feeling it. Not

(01:21:02):
feeling it because I didn't feel safe. Then you find
out there's an e MT going, there's older people going.
She spent the night. It was fine. There are fears
that are legitimate, Like I don't like clowns. I don't
know if I'm afraid of clowns. I just they do
kind of creep me out. If you're a clown, you're

(01:21:23):
listening like an actual clown. If you're just a clown,
like somebody who tweets at me that I'm a racist
because I told you a story about Dwayne Haskins from
the previous staff, that's just you're just a theoretical clown.
This is when you're a literal clown. You kind of
scare me. But that's not, again, a legitimate fear. My

(01:21:45):
legitimate fears are you know what my kids school, it's
only there's only a chain League fence around some of
the some gates you can get in, like parents are
on campus before school. Don't love it. That's a legitimate fear. Um.
You know, my kids got a skateboard ramp. Our neighbors

(01:22:08):
moved out. They gave my guy a skateboard ramp, and
my kids are on the skateboard ramp without a helmet. Like,
that's a legitimate fear. How you fall off, you hit
your head and the cement or whatever you want, at
least a legitimate fear. I think you can be legitimately
cautious and maybe even have a fear if you're the
Bucks of the Miami Heat last night in the NBA

(01:22:35):
the Bucks were beaten by the Miami Heat for a
second time this year. Doesn't mean you have to be
a You can have fear and not be afraid. Does
that sentence make sense, like you could? Fear is fear
is normal? Fear, jealousy, anger, all these emotions are very

(01:23:00):
normal to have. What you do with those emotions. If
I'm Milwaukee Bucks, I do everything I can to avoid
the Miami Heat in the playoffs and being the same
bracket as them. Not because the Miami Heat are better
than Milwaukee Bucks, but it is not a good matchup
for the Milwaukee Bucks. Case in point, for the second
time this uh the second time this year, the Heat

(01:23:23):
have beaten the Bucks, and they've done a great job
on Janice, limiting in his good looks, putting a body
between him. I mean, bam Ato Bio is the perfect matchup.
You finally got a guy who's about his size, about
his level of athleticism, who can guard down the perimeter,
who can guard in the post, and they smartly sometimes
come down and help. By the way, do you know

(01:23:47):
it was lacking last night with Janice's game skill? When
when you can't just big dog somebody, when you can't
get a running start in Eurostep. When you can't score
in transition, you have to score over a body. When
you have to make jump shots or post moves over
a body of a guy who's a long, athletic defender,

(01:24:08):
it takes skill. James Harden wasn't wrong, but only the
Heat so far have been able to consistently point that
out in the playoffs. If you have a guy who's
over six seven who can match up body body, strength
wise and lengthwise with your honest and limited him to
making shots over the top, he's just not skilled enough
at this point in his career. I think it's a

(01:24:33):
legitimate to have some sort of cautious fear or feeling
towards the towards the Miami Heat if you're the Milwaukee Bucks,
because they do have they feel like it's a great
matchup with them, And honestly, I feel like the Celtics
are the same now. Jayson Tatum and Jalen Brown aren't
nearly the defenders that Bam Motebaio is, but they have

(01:24:56):
enough length and enough bodies at the wings that they
can keep throwing guys at him, and he's not there
yet in terms of having refined skill that's what it
takes in the playoffs. It's not just a maker miss league,
it's a shotmakers league, and he is not a shot
maker yet. I know the stats look like they're dominant,

(01:25:21):
but maybe they're too dominant, and those type of things
don't get exposed when you're winning by more than ten
points on average. I think the Bucks have reasonable reason
to be somewhat cautious, if not even afraid, of five
facing the Miami Heat in the playoffs, because they match
up well with him, and matchups to the whole story

(01:25:44):
no different in football. I thought the Green Bay Packers
are really really good, but you know what what style
beats them if you consistently run the ball off tackle.
They are built for a to compete against a team
that passes all the time. They had Smith Brothers, which
are past rushing defensive end, not run stopping. The Niners

(01:26:06):
were a bad matchup. That's why the Niners kick their
ass up and down the field twice. But the Niners
weren't empirically that much better than the Green Bay Packers.
They just were so much better in terms of that matchup.
Covering up next. It used to be easy doing this
to rip on James Doling Dolan, I'm actually going to
defend him in the Spike Lee conversation that's up coming next.

(01:26:29):
But first, if you're like me and everyone else, I
know you love free stuff. If it's free, it's me.

(01:27:39):
this is always fun. I've gotten a couple of these.
You can stand by what you're so called source told you.
But if you're gonna quote a source about a player
who may have a learning disability, he does not have
a learning disability, you need to name that source, and
by not doing so makes you biased. I can't believe

(01:28:02):
how stupid people are. I can't believe how dumb the
average human being is. So average. I have a friend
who says, you know, the average i Q is just
as close to eighty as it is to a hundred.
Average i Q is ninety. Over a hundred is of

(01:28:26):
supreme high intelligence. Of below eighty is considered some sort
of mentally handicapped, right, And so average being ninety right
in the middle. It's a great way of looking at it,
which means for every smart personal world, there's an equal,
equally dumb personal world. And I don't think people are dumb.
I just don't think they understand how it works. And

(01:28:48):
let me explain it really quickly and slowly. Because what
you do is anytime you get information that you don't
like you immediately go were you raised? Just do you're
biased or you're whatever? Okay in any reporting in the
business world, in political world, in the sports world, and

(01:29:10):
this goes to athletes who say stupid stuff like put
your name on it. Won't put your name on I
won't put your name on. Put God, put your name
on it. Are you familiar with deep throat? Pause? Are
you familiar with deep throat? The source that brought down

(01:29:31):
the Nixon administration from Watergate? That's an unnamed source. If
the story is true and the source gives it to you,
you don't put somebody's name on it if it's negative,
because then they'll get called the worst things on earth,

(01:29:52):
and all they're doing is telling you the story is
a true story. By the way, Mike Fires was a
member of the Houston Astros. He came clean two years
after two years after they won the World Series about

(01:30:13):
the trash Can't banging Um scheme that the Astros used
throughout the at least the two thousand seventeen season to
help them win a World Series full opened up a
full on cheating scandal which he's a part of. Even
though he's a picture go ahead and like Twitter search

(01:30:38):
or Google search his name, death threats, horrible comments made.
All he did was tell the truth. The story wouldn't
have been any less true had he put his name,
taking his name and said an unnamed source. Named sources

(01:31:00):
are how our business is done. And if you have
multiple un named sources, that's this type of story you
can go to print with. It's protect the source, not me.
I don't, I don't care. I've I've never lost any
sort of sleep over. By the way, to every single

(01:31:21):
human being and bots who are on social media who
claimed that I'm some sort of racist because I told
a story in a short tweet about how concerned the
former coaching staff who by all purposes, weren't big fans
of Dwayne Haskins and his ability to grasp a playbook

(01:31:41):
just search. Adrian Peterson or Doug Doug Williams, is the
director of player development for the Washington Redskins, and he
recently is quoted as saying, Hey, you can't galivant around
the facility. Instead, you need to lock in and do

(01:32:02):
and show them why you're here and why they need
to keep you. So his college coach said he wasn't
ready a former Redskin quarterback whose director of player personnel
has said he didn't work hard enough he's starting running back,
criticized him for not knowing the playbook. I share with
you how frustrated the previous coaching staff was with his

(01:32:24):
inability to call a play and to learn the playbook.
I'm racist. Look the the idea of if you want
to bring up the m and Martin Luther King. Like
Martin Luther King wanted each person to be judged based
upon the substance of their character. But in sports, all

(01:32:45):
we can judge you based upon is you know your
body of work. Your body of work Like dude, Derek
Carr has been called every name in the book by
people who don't like Derek Carr. Now one, it's Derek
Carr's brother. Being a bit of a bust as a
number one overall pick is part of it. Derek Carr

(01:33:07):
is seen as being classically not cool because he's super
super religious and he might get bet, they may cut
him and bringing another quarterback, Baker Mayfield, roundly criticized for
his off the field transgressions. Is on the field act

(01:33:29):
like the whole deal is we criticize everybody leading up
to the draft pick apart, Like, what happens is if
you parachute in, you're like, oh, this scatterport is has
negative words about somebody who's They have negative words about everybody.
They have pros and cons about everybody. So dumb. I
hate this exercise. But no, we don't name sources. If

(01:33:52):
you name sources, you'll never have another source. Again, that's
how the business works. But if on social media, or
if you're a hater of mine, or if you're somebody
who is looking on a daily basis for somebody to
be a racist, then you lose complete sight all, you

(01:34:14):
lose all track of of of reality. You simply search
out for any comments seen as negative towards somebody who's
of you know, African American descent, and that person is
a racist. That's not the way it works. Um. All right,
So this was Spike Lee on first take talking about
what's happening with the Nixon owner James Dolan. Why do

(01:34:36):
you think the policy changed at least towards you. I'm
being harassed by James do I don't know why? Let
me have What about the press release did you object
to that made you? What did the press release say
that you said that's not true that me and him
athlete I think came to mean this. You know, at
halftime he leaves. He always walks across the court and
it's a direct right where I'm sitting. He and the
press release says that we shook hands. They were laughing.

(01:35:01):
They actually said, this is what it says. The Knick
spokesman said that it was untrue, that it was simply
an issue of Lee using the wrong entrance years. I
just want to make sure it's garden spending. I wasn't
shaking his hands. In fact, when he came up with me,

(01:35:22):
I didn't get it. By the way, my soul I
must see, and they're actually a video I'm shaking his hand.
That's bad luck for Spike. It's bad luck for Spike.
I get it. You don't like James Dolan. You don't
like the way the teams run, you don't like that
they're not winning. It's the first day for Leon Rose

(01:35:43):
to be on the job. Like everything is bad. But
when you make up a story and there's video to
support the Nick story, I don't really know where to
go with it. These two things can both be true.
James Dolan can be yuts okay and a bad owner

(01:36:04):
and Spike Lee can be making up what he's saying,
which appears to be both be true. I mean, there's
video and photos of him shaking hands with James Dolan
when he said I didn't shake hands with James Dolanik,
yeah you did. I don't know about the entrance thing.

(01:36:24):
I feel like this is classic superstar stuff. And by
the way, if you really don't like James Dolan, don't
buy the seats. Like that's the only all these Knicks
fans are like, Man, we need a fire dough sell
the team. You're at the game, right, you're paying money.

(01:36:45):
If you the the only way he'll ever know that
you don't want any part of it is don't show up.
Don't buy tickets. Frankie Solo joinas in moments first though,
it's gets to damn by I find out what else
going on. Got a bit more clarity on the contract
the Christian Yellis is gonna get from the Brewers to
stay in Milwaukee for most of the next decade. It

(01:37:08):
is gonna be a seven year extension tacked onto the
two remaining years on his current deal, so over the
next nine seasons. According to reports, Yellows will make more
than two hundred and fifteen million dollars, will be under
contract with Milwaukee through the twenty eight season. The Boston
Red Sox have shut down picture Chris Sale because of
elbow soreness. They'll send the m r I results to

(01:37:30):
Dr James Andrews. The NFL says they are monitoring the coronavirus,
but all NFL events are scheduled to go on as
planned right now. Broncos today have elbow bumps at the
UH at the what's it called? When I think it?
Instead of the hug that usually gives them, we'll give
them the elbow bumps or given the the what's up
with the chin thing? I'm I'm all four bringing back

(01:37:52):
the forearm bash, you know with the basha boom. I'm
all for it boom. If that's the silver line, NG,
then so be it. But if the four, if the
forearm bash can come back, that'd be great. Broncos agreeing
to acquire a J. Bouyer and a deal from the
Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for the corner. Jacksonville will receive
a fourth round pick from Denver. Deal can't become official

(01:38:15):
until the new League year starts in a couple of weeks.
Nashville Predators opened up Bridgetone Arena for anyone affected by
the tornadoes that hit Nashville overnight. They were serving pizza
to those who were able to show up. So far,
twenty two people have been confirmed dead following those overnight storms.
Anthony Davis expected to play tonight for the Lakers against
the Sixers. He's listed as probable to return from a

(01:38:36):
sore right knee. Will be back to the Dug Gottlieb
Show in ten seconds. But first, a word from farmers.
Winter means it's time to bundle up your insurance. Bundle
home and auto with Farmers and you could save an
average of calle farmers to get a quote today are
farmers might have a saving firms for far insurance exchanges
and affiliates probably un avlable in every state. You need

(01:38:57):
a gal Hey, I gotta get Mary kay cabin joins
us from the from Cleveland dot com at mary kay
Cabot is a Twitter handle. No one knows what's going
on inside Cleveland sports like Mary Kay, especially Cleveland Browns
Mary kay Um. Supposedly the Browns would trade O B

(01:39:19):
J if they're blown away by an offer. What is
blown away by an offer? Me? You know, I don't
really think they're going into this offseason thinking about trading him.
I don't think they want to do that. I think
they have every expectation that will be on the roster
uh come September, and I think they would be very
very surprised, uh if they find something that makes them say,

(01:39:41):
you know, we're going to make a deal. I don't
see it happening now. I do think, however, that teams
will pick up the phone and call them. There's no receivers,
no elite receivers available in free agency this year except
for really a Marie Cooper, A J. Green will probably
be franchised, and so I really think the phone will
ring for O b J. Will O b J? Though?

(01:40:03):
Like the uh uh like the new scheme, Like this
is a scheme which is run dominant, right, I mean
they ran it, ran it, ran it, ran it, and
they struggled to keep both wide receivers happy in Minnesota.
Do you think ultimately he buys into the scheme? Well,
that will be key. And so far everybody's talking, talking
it up and talking a good game about the whole

(01:40:24):
thing uh, And I think the only way that Odell
Beckham Jr. Won't be here next year is if he
decides and he's camp decides that he would be better
off elsewhere, and they asked for a trade. That's how
it would have to happen. The Browns are not going
to willingly move him once again, unless, of course, somebody
picks up that phone and completely blows them away. Mary

(01:40:45):
Kay Cabot joining us, what about what about Baker Mayfield?
This new diet um? How in on Mayfield is the
new Browns Brown's brass. I think they're all in on
Baker Mayfield. I really do. They will go out and
find a backup quarterback for Baker Mayfield, somebody that can
come in and kind of show him the way, helped

(01:41:06):
mentor him a little bit, but not try to take
away his starting job. So they believe that he is
their quarterback in the future. This is the year for
him to go out and prove that because obviously after
this year you have decisions to make on fifth year
option extensions and whatnot. What's the biggest change we'll see
with the Browns. I think that they will be organized.

(01:41:27):
I think the offense will be a million times better
under Kevin Stefanski. I think they'll run the ball a lot,
and I think that they'll work everything off of that
through play action, and I think that they'll get Baker
back on track. It would be great to see Mary
Kay great stuff, Mary Kay Cabot from Cleveland dot com
follower on Twitter for any news regarding the Browns, Mary Kay,
great stuff. Thanks for joining us. I got a guy,

(01:41:49):
Frank Solo joins us, a long time writer in New York.
Now he's got his own show on serious Sex Hammen.
You see him on Around the Horn as well. Fall
on Twitter at the Frank I Sola? All right, what
happened between Spike Lee and James Land? Bigger, bigger train wreck?
Cleveland Browns in the New York Knicks? M M. I
would say the Knicks now, I would say the Knicks
right now? An't they crazy? They had that? Had the

(01:42:11):
had the ping pong ball got in them? Zion, what
would the world look like today? It didn't. It didn't
know And and the other thing, too, Doug, is it
could have gotten them Job Moran and not. That's not
to say that, Archie Barrett. You know, we don't know
what kind of player he's gonna be. But those two guys,
I mean, will be come on. Morant right now is
in eighth place in the Western Conference. Nobody thought that
Memphis would be this good. You know, they're ahead of Portland,

(01:42:32):
San Antonio and New Orleans, even Sagas Sacramento starting to
win some game. But he's been he's been impressive. And
that's that's why too. You know, the Knicks have been
bad at a lot of things that they've done, but
they're also a little unlucky, unlucky there as well last
year in the in the lottery. Okay, so what happened,
what really happened last night? Well, you know, I don't
think Spiko has been to a lot of games, and

(01:42:55):
you know, for the longest time he's entered at eight
pen Plausa. I know you've been in that entry way
that's on thirty third Street. That's where the employees go,
media goes there. But I you know plenty. You know
there'll be certain fans, like if you were to have
your credential and you had two tickets with you, you
could bring two people in that way and they'll scan
the ticket and you go up the elevator of the
sixth forard there you wore on the main concourse. I've

(01:43:17):
been on that elevator, you know, hundreds of times. But
Spike Lee where whether he's his wife or one of
his kids, or just a friend of his, you know,
he would always enter in there. Now they've clearly they've
changed things around. But what's the big deal? I mean,
the guy has been attending games forever. He is a seat,
he pays for his season ticket. He's probably given the
Knicks over the years, believe or not, maybe ten million dollars.

(01:43:38):
I think his seats are nearly three thousand dollars a year,
So it's a lot of money that he puts out.
And I'll say this too about Spike, un listen, is
it being blown out of proportion? Maybe by Spike a
little bit. Was it that big of a deal? Perhaps,
But I do know this about Spike. When he's been
at the games, he likes being part of the show,
like when he's at his seat, but he's at the guard,

(01:43:59):
he's pretty like spectful in terms of when he goes
walking through the hallways. He's not. He doesn't walk around
like he owns the place. That's that's a darn shore
you like he he walks through, he says a little
of you know, a lot of us UH employees will
say a lot of him. He goes to his seat
and then you know, that's it. So so um. I
don't understand how it got to, like, of all the

(01:44:19):
guys to get into it with Spike Lee has been
a fervent Knicks fan. How did how did this happen?
I don't understand that. I do know that Jim Dolan,
who when there is a fight, he very rarely backs
down from the fight. He likes to fight. He likes,
you know, a litigation or just you know, having a

(01:44:40):
cold war, whether it's a media or something like that.
But the whole Spike Lead thing makes no sense. And
you know, if you go back to Charles Oakley, the
situation with him when they dragged Oakley at and he
was putting handcuffs and arrested. Whoever was right or wrong
in that situation. We know what the perception is among
NBA players that you're seeing and among fans, you're seeing
this like beloved player treated like that. So here's Spike Lee,

(01:45:03):
whether people like them or they don't like him. How
does that play with the rest of the NBA that
you know, they're most famous fan is being treated like
this after you spent all that money. So let's let's say,
let's just take Jim Dolan side that the Knicks and
Jim Dolan in this case, right, what good does it
serve sending out a statement, you know, basically vilifying Spike Lee,

(01:45:23):
saying that his charges are laughable? What like, what do
they really have to gain from that? The damage kind
of has already been done. And when the Knicks went
out and they hired this gentleman by the name of
Steve Staudle, I guess is big in the hip hop community,
you know. I guess it's the whole rebranding being But
a lot of that has to do with Jim Dolan
wanting to change the perception of how he is viewed
among NBA players, and a vast majority, as we all know,

(01:45:47):
of NBA players happen to be African American. Why then,
would you be going after your most famous fan who
also happens to be African American. It makes zero sense. Yeah,
but I've you, like, like, I feel like this is
one of those Spike making like he he went on
TV and said, I I didn't shake his hand, and
there's video of him shaking his hand, like, what are
you supposed to do? Well? I also think he I

(01:46:10):
also think, you know that to me might be a
little bit of semantics, and I think he said that
when he first came over, he sat in his seat,
then he got up and I guess they shook it.
I mean, I think that's all. You know, it's it's
all like minor details to it. But again, like all
idea that that's fine, I get there. What's the wind? Like,

(01:46:31):
what's the wind for the exactly? What duck? What is
the point? So here you have a night like last night,
you know, probably their best one of the season. They've
only had nineteen You beat the Houston Rockets at home.
It's Leon Rose's first game. The Nicks can't even have
twenty four hours of like good vibes and this this
is a good day. Matt. What's the most famous fan
going on TV killing the organization? When I heard that

(01:46:53):
he was going on there, I thought for sure, I said,
the Nicks. Probably, you know, Spike is gonna go to
the say it was all a big miss understanding now
that Knicks has been great, I was actually a little
surprised that he went. You know, I didn't know all
the details of you know, the stuff that he was saying,
but I was kind of surprised. I said, man, this
is not good for the Knicks to have their more
most high profile fan, uh talking like that. No, it

(01:47:16):
isn't It isn't good. Leon Rose did have his first
day on the job. Will that fix things? I mean,
I think you know, if you're Leon and I said
this all the time about the Knicks, Doug, there's a
lot of people that still work. And I'm not saying that,
you know, everyone should lose their job, but you know,
Leon Rose has to have the power and the autonomy
to say I want to keep certain people, I want

(01:47:37):
to bring in certain people, because if you're not gonna
allow him to do that, it's never gonna change. And
who knows what's going to happen with the coach. Is
he gonna give Mike Miller a chance? I have no idea,
So a lot could come down to who he's going
to bring in as the head coach. You know, Leon
has ever done this before. But I do know this
about Leon. He's a pretty private guy. He's pretty conservative.
I think that he would probably hire people a that

(01:47:59):
he knows. He's gonna keep everything pretty close to the vest.
So we'll we'll see how it goes. I think for him,
the smart thing is you have to make sure that
Jim Dolan allows you to make the moves that you
feel you want to make, whether that's people in the
front office, obviously coaching staff and players as well, because
if that's not going to happen, you're just gonna be
repeating the same vicious cycle. What are the returns on R. J. Barrett?

(01:48:22):
You know last night he was really good. I think
you know, when you talk to a lot of NBA
scouts and you would know this guy, know you uh,
you know college basketball really well as well as the NBA.
A lot of the people that they talked to back
in Vegas, they didn't know if he was athletic enough
to really create like enough separation. They just that's the
one thing, Yeah, I'm sorry, kind of stuff in the hips. Yeah,

(01:48:43):
that that's what a lot of people think. So that's
not to say that, you know, I think when you
say this stuff people that are you don't think there's
gonna be any good. Now We're saying, like you look
at Zion Williams and play, and you look at John
Moran play and you see like a special quality about them.
You're not really sure you when you see that Barrett, well,
they're athlete freaks. And here's how it's explained to me.
He doesn't shoot it or pass it well enough to

(01:49:06):
make up for the fact that he's not an athletic freak.
And and yet the way in which he plays, he's
so used to being ball dominant that it's really it's
you know, it's it's hard to play with him off
the basketball, but with the basketball you have to be
that good, and at this point he's not that good.
You know, last night he was having this really good game.

(01:49:28):
Then the fourth quarter he struggled a little bit, and
then late they got the ball to him and he
shot an air ball and they were up one. At
the time Harden comes down, Harden beats the nixt defense.
This is in the final minute, miss the bunny right
at the rim. Miss. The layup barely was even contested.
So the game is to convent with r J. Barrett
shooting an airball at James Harden. Getting a lay down

(01:49:48):
is hard to RJ. Barretts Cretty. He did come back
and he scored a big best. Let me ask you
this because I got to see him played twice in
person last year and I really thought like, I'm like, man,
this dude's got an NBA body, and I know we
couldn't shoot. I did see a game last weekend for
the Nets where he had six three points. I'm talking
about Cam Reddish. What do you think about him? I
like him. You know, he was described as as a

(01:50:10):
little bit of an odd duck, a little bit you know,
a little bit, a little bit soft, um, but super
like he's the guy with the highest He was the
guy who people said like he could be a superstar,
but probably not a go to guy. And what's interesting
is he seems to be fitting in with Trey Young,
who's another guy who people in the NBA are like,
he's a little bit odd, you know, in terms of

(01:50:31):
socially or whatever. Just um and and it it's I
guess it's working more with Wins, but not really with
the Wins yet. I think I think both are supremely talented.
Cam Reddish more so because he can he can help
you at both ends. Um, But I'm not sure you
know they're they're viewed in that um uh, they're viewing

(01:50:53):
that Andrew Wiggins sort of kind of different. He's vide
as kind of Andrew Wiggins type where I don't know
if you want him to be your best player. Yeah,
and that's why I like when you watch cam Rennison
when they beat the next of the night. You know
DeAndre Hunter, who was a young player. He played well,
but reddish hit fourth the you know, he was four
or four in the third quarter on threes and he
just you know, and to your point, you know, he

(01:51:15):
can get it done at the defensive end as well.
He just has like that long athletic NBA body that
you know, the team's really covered. Yeah, No, he looks
the part. Sometimes he doesn't doesn't play the part. But
give me faster to see how this young group of rookies,
how they evolve. Great stuff as always, Frank Frank as

one hundred ninety million dollars. The extension will be added
to the final two years of the contract. Yellish will

(01:52:38):

the nine seasons through the season. That's a lot of
that's a lot of money. Great player, though, and um
what you got Remember you got hurt last year, right,
did you get hurt? Yeah? And then the Brewers went
on a tear and they went out with the wild card. Yeah. Um, yeah,

(01:53:02):
he's he's spectacular. He's really really good. And you know
that's one of those where you know, he got dumped
by the Marlins when they were trying to get better. Um,
and clearly they got worse. They were trying to get
they were trying to be bad and they've accomplished that.
They're not gotten good yet. Yankees GM Brian Cashman said
both Aaron Judge and John Carlos Stanton are unlikely to

(01:53:24):
be ready for opening Day because of injuries. John Kylo
Stanton seems to get hurt every year. This year just
happened earlier than in previous years. It's also, oh, I'm
sorry that John Sterling has something to say or can
can yes, but can can there? It is dug Also,

(01:53:45):
it should be noted that it's with opening day becoming
so early now it's like almost like it like gout
three weeks. It's coming up March. I believe is opening well.
They did it last year as well, giving more teams
more off days throughout the season. And uh yeah, so
instead of the normal Monday opener, now they're doing it

(01:54:07):
on the Thursday. So Yankees to start the season. Is that?
I know? It's Astro's Angels to start the season. By
the way, I think the Angels are gonna have two
of the five best players in the American League. Just
Shoho Tani is the other one. Oh really, I interesting?
Are sure? I thought I thought there was a rendon comment.

(01:54:31):
ESPN reports the Broncos are acquiring quarterback A J. Booyer
from the Jaguars for a fourth round pick in the
twenty draft. Uh wait, wait one more time. A J.
Booyer goes to the Broncos for that fourth round round,
fourth round pick. Well, that's a money saver, right, They
need to They need to shed some salaries, move some
money around. But now that means they're also in the

(01:54:53):
market for another defensive back. Yankees open up with Baltimore.
By the way, Boston's in Toronto Opening Day, Yankees in Baltimore.
The Baltimore is like Yankee Stadium South Boston's wear in Toronto.
M interesting. That's usually Saturday baseball, though, isn't it. It
Almost always it's Yankees Red Sox to chart the season

(01:55:16):
a weird switch, just uh yeah, not not. I don't
know how often they opened this season against each other though,
Remember that one year when they had, like you played
one game. I thought it was maybe like the Royals
and Mets did a world series, like you know, and
then they just played the one game. Lakers Genie Buss
was asked about Dwight Howard's second go around with the team,

(01:55:37):
and she responded, quote, we hired a coach that didn't
respect his game and wasn't going to put him in
a position to succeed. End quote. Talking about the first
time when Mike D'Antoni was the head coach of the Lakers.
Um remember when the Rockets had him and had Mike
D'Antoni as well. So chocker that that one didn't work.

(01:55:58):
I think that's honest from Jennie. It's a bad fit,
really bad fit. Lakers forward Lebron James named the NBA's
Player of the Month for February. Celtics forward Jason Tatum
won the honor in the East, ahead of Brad Beal.
I mean, I guess Jason Tatum didn't in bigger games
with Brad Beal's average thirty six a game for them,
