Tug got Leave Show? Fox Sports Radio. M M. I
hope you're doing well. Doug Gotliep Show rolls on here
from the heart of sunny southern California. My boy Bo
Benson producing. Of course you hear John Ramos and the
(00:49):
ones and twos and Dan Buyer, plus my assistant producer,
Gray Scott lab continues to monitor our show. She's been
a little point, She's good, she's ready. We're keeping an
eye on Buyer. I gotta ask you, dude, um, did
you see the shot that he's doing a bunch of stuff?
But people watching the these threes the j honest is
(01:11):
taking He can't shoot? Why why is he why is
he taking I don't know. I know he made five
threes against the Lakers. Well that was back in I
want to say, I want to say February, I'm watching
this shot selection, to be honest, is atrocious. Yeah, I
(01:32):
think this is what happens when he gets frustrated and
the Magic have done a good job of packing the
paint and making it difficult even when he's been down there.
And so now when you're down by ten or is there,
down by thirteen right now and you think you have
to make up points quick, they give you that shot.
It's a lot easier to take that than to go
(01:54):
and be you know, badgered when you try to go
into the paint. Not Yeah, it doesn't doesn't necessary the
hope I'm behind behind. I like having ford Evan fo yeah,
not a foreigner. Thirteen points, the Bucks would get within
one of the Orlando would go on an eight oh
run or a nine o run and they've Yeah, they've
(02:16):
they've controlled the game. They've been the better Like it's
one of those sometimes the better team doesn't actually win
with the team that it controls the game, right, they
have been the better team. Now. The last time that
Orlando won Game one of the first round playoff series,
another turnover that was uh. That team went on to
win the NBA title and that was the Raptors last year.
So Bucks fans can hang on to that one that
(02:39):
Orlando went to Toronto and beat the Raptors in Game
one and then the Raptors to care the next four.
Just trying to think of silver linings, that's all. Pat
Connaughton takes the chat that was that was a terrible flop.
The levels of flops, like contin is a tough dude. Ever.
Oh oh, I'm choking. I'm dying. You know, the books
(03:05):
have a lot of guys that can shoot the three,
that are able to shoot the three, but you know,
you have Middleton in Corver and and in a way
Brook Lopez are the only guys that can get hot
hot hot as well. So you're gonna see them, you know.
I mean, they're shooting from three today and maybe you
(03:27):
need the guy to go five of seven or you know,
six of eight. Just just a tough tough for Milwaukee
to get going against Orlando. Anything in the paint has
seemingly been contested or well, what they're what they're doing is,
you know, on the first they've done a really good
job of scouting, honest right, and they're trying to and
and Milwaukee's playing with Janice as the Wow. Markl folts,
(03:51):
Holy hell, he can't shoot either, but Fourny a can,
so that that should be that should just about doing right.
He hits a second straight three. It's in eighteen one
or two somehow in the in the midst of all this,
we were ahead of you on the TVs and then
you passed us like in thirty seconds. So but now
a sixteen point I forgot that I was behind. Yeah,
(04:15):
I was wondering myself, but I mean were I was
talking to the guys is Orlando? You know I had
this double digit lead. You have no idea what to
expect in this bubble, and you think, like all right,
you try to go back to what you know, and
you're like, well, maybe you know the Calves put it
on cruise control when Lebron was there in the final
(04:36):
month of the season. Um, you know we've seen that before.
Maybe that's what Milwaukee did. Now you go into this
game and you have Orlando taking it to them, a
team that the Bucks beat every time they played them
during the regular season. You just you have no idea,
like they're the any This would have been a Game
one in Milwaukee with Fiser for him probably you know, rocking,
(04:56):
and it would have been a completely different atmosphere. I'm
not giving them any excuses, but the point being is
when you have that home courting and road court, if
you will, there are things that maybe that you can
count on. Here not the case. I didn't know if
the I actually didn't think that home court would be
as much of something that the better team's missed because
I figure the better team is gonna win on a
(05:19):
neutral court. You know, if you play seven times, the
better team should win more times. But maybe this is
an opportunity where the Bucks really needed to, you know,
have a home court and get a game one and
beat Orlando and take some of the the you know,
energy out of that team. I have no idea, but
the energy that Milwaukee didn't have today was apparent in
the first half. And they they can get frustrated as well. Yeah,
(05:42):
you're honest getting frustrated on miss shots here. As they
continued Darren Mark help folds to shoot and he continues
to take that dare but not make any shots. It's
got of an ugly end of this game. Yeah you
look so, so what the Bucks loses the energy of
home court. They had the best home court record wise
in basketball, I believe. Um. But now which you get
back is now you don't have to go into Orlando
(06:02):
right games three and four and the places insane on
fire craziness. So it does it does actually work both ways.
It does work both ways. But that's the one thing
that we don't know. And and one of the things
that I thought, and then I pointed back to the
to the you know, the Bucks series last year with
the Raptors when they ended up taking the first two
(06:24):
games of the series at home. They go to Toronto
and then lose the game in overtime, and now Toronto's
got some momentum when it's to one in front of
the home fans and they end up grabbing the series.
In these scenarios, I have no idea because there aren't
any fans and you so you just assume that the
better team is going to win. And the better team
we thought was Milwaukee, but for these forty eight minutes
(06:45):
or forty seven plus, it hasn't been. So I have
no idea if Milwaukee is gonna be able to bounce
back in Game two because they had a bad game one,
are they gonna miss the fans and it's gonna be
the same sort of thing. I think those are things
that we all do not know. And by the way,
we didn't have those situations in yesterday's games where we
saw the unseen or the lower seeded team end up
(07:07):
having their way with the higher seeded team. Jazz Nuggets
was crazy, but that was Donovan Mitchell's fifty seven. So, uh,
Ramas you want to get into this, how come they
don't let the fans that are sitting there like voice,
Why don't they Why is it just video? Why can't
we hear them? Why can't they be screaming out come on, Orlando,
or let's go box or something like that. It's just
kind of like they're they're chance with their hands up
(07:28):
and they're not like a part of the game. Let
him be a part of the game. It would be
an f bomb festival. What did it be a live stream? No? Like,
all those fans are on the video screens back there
that are supporting I guess the supporting the Bucks, right Dan,
it's a Bucks home. Yes, Why can't they just have
their audio and they're like, come on, let's like a crowd,
like why are we why are they you can't hear them?
(07:50):
It probably costs money. Everything you get a pipe in
every one of their voices, one voice like we're spending
our money on like how do you bring me a beer?
Bring me a beer? Is that that goes? I let
the mic on? Sorry about that when you hear the yeah,
mm hmmm mmm uh, that wouldn't be distracting at all.
(08:17):
Have three hundred mics just live from all right, I
got I got some sound for you. Damian Lillard speaking
kindly about Lebron James. Let's let's let's bring that up
here because because that's the that's the big game tonight
is Portland's take on the Lakers. Nine o'clock East, six
o'clock West. This is Damian Lillard talking about what they're
(08:38):
up against. Everything away, and you're not gonna stop Lebron
James and being Lebron James. You just can't let him
be the best version of himself. You gotta try to
limit as much as you can, uh, and not'll increase
your chance to win the game. But as far as
our preparation, like you said, we're coming into with a
healthy level of respect. But we're not coming into it
(08:58):
like we can't get the job. We're looking at it like,
we know what we up against. You know we're coming
into it, so then like it's a one game at
a time, but we can get it done. There's really
no other way to come into it. If we were
gonna come into it any other way, that we should
have just came here about gracefully before we even got
to this point. But that's that's not what we showed
up for. No, I don't think anybody thought that they
(09:19):
were going to go kind of quietly into the night.
My thing with Portland is they had to extend it,
expend a ton of energy just to get to the
playoffs or to get to the playing game. Then they
get the playing game ton of energy to win that gime.
And you're playing against some banged up teams that they're
missing guys now Plains Lakers, Granted they're missing a couple
of guys missing aavor. Bradley Rondo should be back, but
(09:41):
but it's a bad matchup for you, and you're on fumes,
and I think that's why you don't like it as
as much. Be sure to catch the live edition of
The Doug gott Leap Show weekdays at three p m.
Easter noon Pacific on Fox Sports radio and the I
Heart Radio a app. So, did you guys see this story?
Kind of interesting? There's going to be no full time
(10:04):
officials in the NFL this season. That doesn't mean there
will be no officials in the NFL this season. No
full time officials in the NFL this season, so um,
it's just it's interesting that the NFL opted against that.
The NFL declined an option to reinstate full time officiating
(10:27):
program in two thousand and twenty, the final decision in
a series of previously unreported twists during the past four months,
according to multiple sources. As a result, officials will continue
to work as part time employees, a setback for many
league decision makers who view the program of the path
towards more consistent officiate The league operated a full time
(10:51):
program for officials in two thousand seventeen two thousand eighteen,
but shelved in two thousand nine. Team will negotiating a
new collector partner agreement with the NFL Referees Association. The
new deal, signed last fall provided the the program to
continue if the participants receive salaries that were roughly commensurate
with full time officials and other sports leagues. According to sources.
The league activate an option in May to convert approximately
(11:14):
ten officials to full time status, but last week it
informed the nfl are A that it reversed the decision.
The league cited costs explained the decision. According to the
n f l r A, In other words, it's too expensive, right,
Like that's the thing, Like the new programs that everybody
(11:35):
thought and championed and celebrated and we're excited about. End
of the day, you end up becoming too expensive and
you price yourself out, Like why is it expensive? Not
just expensive in the cost, but then the insurance that
you have to carry for people as opposed to previously,
these guys are private subcontractors. They got their own insurance
or many of them it was their second job. Anyway,
(11:58):
I don't think having any sort of full time officials
makes them better officials. Officiating live sports to the great
athletes really hard in real time. The worst type of
of evidence is eyewitness testimony, right, because human beings do
make mistakes. We do assume things are Our mind can
play tricks on us. And I don't think full time,
(12:20):
part time anything. I don't think these officials are trying
to make mistakes that this thing they naturally do. It's
a hard, hard job, hard sport, and I think that's uh.
You know, five on field officials to replay fields have
opted out because the pandemic. There's some older people that
are a little bit concerned, that's why they're opting out.
(12:40):
And then you factor in the idea that, hey, we
don't want to pay all these extra costs. When we
were officiating was bad. You know, it was disappointing before
we had it, was disappointing when we had it. There's
no real change there. The reason you would make people
full time employees because you felt like it's the right
thing to do, truly make them part of the We've
got a several billion dollar industry. Why can't we spend
(13:01):
a couple more dred thousand dollars and have all these
guys taken care of. But if you think it's gonna
magically make you have better officiating, obviously, could not be
more wrong. Could not be more wrong. So who knew?
NFL's full time officiating thing seems to be a thing
(13:22):
of the past. Adam Kaplan Series x M NFL Insider
will join us uh in mere moments. There have been
some injuries nine are suffering through some injuries. Cowboys. Gerald
McCoy done for the year. Do your how much that
actually hurts them? There have been some injuries. We'll get
his thoughts on his thoughts on Jadeveon Clowney, who doesn't
seem to have much of a market. Be sure to
(13:43):
catch the live edition of The Doug Gottlieb Show weekdays
at three p m. Easter noon Pacific. Doug Gotlip Show
here on Fox Sports Radio. It is actually I have
a question for all you guys, Adam, let me let me,
let me ask you a question here. Okay. So I
have some really close friends that are realtors, all right, Okay,
when you list a house, Okay, when you list a house,
(14:06):
you're supposed to list you know, like if somebody died
in the house, you gotta like, you know that, if
an old lady dies in the house, you have to
write that down, right, Okay. So I have some friends
that are selling a house and the guy off himself
but not technically in the house. He did the car
(14:26):
in the garage thing. You have to list that right. Well,
it's you know, I've bought and sold homes before. I
have not heard that before. That rule because it's never
would come up. I don't know what the legality is
for that, but you should make buy or beware. Obviously,
would you would you buy a home if that happened
in the home? Okay? My response to that would be,
(14:48):
I would want to know exactly where this death occurred
and how it happened, and then I would have to
make a decision, and I would look Also, because you're
bringing this up, we're looking at the eity of horror here.
What are we talking about? I want to go back
in history. Were there any other incidents at this house? No,
in this particular case, it was in the car, in
(15:10):
the garage. That's a tough one. That's that's that's a
tough one. That would be a discussion with a wife.
I could tell you that because I'm Ramos Ramos, would
that be a definite note for you? I wouldn't be exciting.
I can tell you that. No. But like let's say,
like you you see Sethny, like I love that, this
is everything I wanted. Yeah, I don't. I don't think
that would that would definitely be a negative. Well, I
(15:33):
know it would be a negative. Would be a negative
to the point where you would not purchase the house.
That's the question probably for me personally buyer, what about you, Yeah,
that would be tough. I think of those I think
of those home selling shows when they're like, I love
the walking closets all this bathroom is great garage. You know,
like you don't You don't hear that one too much
(15:54):
on those shows. Um, yeah, that would be would be
that's a little different. Uh. Yeah. By the way, I
asked this question to Addam the last time he was
on my show on Sunday on Fox. I'll be back
to this sunny by all right, Okay, good guys, can
continue what you got. Yeah, you know what I do.
I actually ask Adam questions that pertain to my fantasy
(16:16):
football team. They think that they think that their general
NFL questions, but they're more intel for me. And well,
it's so funny when I talked to coaches and executives.
I'd never obviously asked for fantasy stuff, but I would
if if you're if you graded all my questions, I
would say sixty forty their own offense. I want to
ask questions. I don't know why it's just that way,
but it is true. Um, how much, let's let's talk
(16:37):
about offense injuries. Okay, So the Niners lose another wide
receiver to another injury. How much does this affect them?
It's bad because Jalen heard you're talking about a tours
a c L boy. They were counting on him to
be sort of a receiver, might a line up in
the backfield. Deebo Sammy won't be ready until sometime September.
He's not expected to be ready from week one coming
(16:57):
back from his broken foot. Richie j who got hurt.
He's a backup receiver and a special team's returner. They
don't have a timeline on him. He got hurt when
he was away from the football team. That's why he's
on the non football injury list. So right now they're
down to four experience receivers. Brandon Ayuka is not experienced,
but he's a rookie and they expect him to start.
(17:18):
Kendrick Born they do like they have Dante Pettis, and
they have Trent Taylor who didn't play last season coming
back from his broken foot. They really like him. He's
their slot receiver. So it does hurt, There's no question
about it. This impacts there. Their death at the wide
receiver position, and it is not a deep position in
free agency, that's why they brought in Tavon Austin and
(17:38):
j J. Nelson, who, by the way, j J. Nelson
didn't even play last season. Um, okay, same question, Gerald McCoy,
who I think you know, like, look, I liked MZ.
I think they do when they get a story, they
they think how many stories they have broken? However, they
get those stories they've done a great job. But they
do this thing where guy goes down with injury and
it's NFL star. Like McCoy's not an NFL star. How
(18:01):
important was he to what the Cowboys wanted to defensively? Yeah,
now he is thirty two, but he was going to
start as their three technique defensive tackle Don Terry Poe.
There are other defensive tackle who's also older. He has
not practicing, he's only physically unable to perform list. So
this is this is impactful because their two projected starters
(18:21):
are both dealing with injuries. Don Terry po now is
thirty years old, the former first round pick of the
Chiefs from from years ago. What they're gonna do is
I understand that Tristan Hill is a second round pick
last year. Now, he's very gifted, but he had some
maturity issues. Talking to people in scouting around the National
Football League, he's the guy that went to Central Florida.
He's a guy that needs a little bit of work.
(18:42):
It's going to be impactful because they're now they're not
very deep, and they also can move in nickel situations.
They can move um Tyrone Crawford in inside that that
that's almost certain to happen at defensive tackle, but it
just hurts their rotation. There's no question about him. We're
we're seeing more players go down. Already, Burns the Bays,
who was competing for starting outside corner job, he suffered
(19:03):
a severe knee injury potentially commits the season. So yeah,
this is your typical training camp stuff. But remember, Doug,
we have three weeks of training camp left. Two of
them are real training camp. The third weeks when teams
turned a week one, what you do is the the
fourth preseason week. If you had games, that's the week
where you don't game plan at all and you're just
(19:25):
that's when you start turning the page to week one.
So a lot of jobs are starting to be on
the line. We have real competition this week. Okay, what's
to to you? What's the most what's the one that
um you hear? Job competition? I mean, is it is
it the Patriots my quarterback job? What's what's the job
that most intrigues you? That one? Cam Newton Kenny win
the job by week one because he doesn't have a
(19:45):
lot of time he's learning a new offense. Mitch Trobiski
versus Nick Foles the quarterback job in training camp for
the Chicago Bears. And remember now, Doug, Mitch Trobinsky did
not have a fifth year option picked up. He is
now on the final years rookie deal. Second pick overall,
one of the most surprising picks in years of covering
the National Football League. I was at the draft in
Philly and certainly was not expecting Mitch Trobiski to go
(20:08):
this high. I did expect him to go in the
top ten, but was not expecting to go second overall.
So those would be probably when you look at quarterback.
And then now here's another one. Alex Smith. He was active,
he was activated off of pup. Now he is actually competing,
though I don't think it's gonna be enough time for
him to start Week one, but they're not rolling anything
out right now, So that one you have to put
(20:28):
the Washington football team's quarterback situation right on the front burner. No,
that one's really interesting because while he might not be
very mobile considering he and he used to be a
very athletic quarterback, Dwayne Haskins without injury is in mobile
at all either. So and then, you know, I mean,
he just I mean, it's not just an impressive story
of toughness, but he's a proven quarterback who's proven he
(20:52):
can take two different franchises to the playoffs. Uh you know,
I I think that has chanced to be a And
he's making a ton of money and and he's clearly
not doing it for the money, because he could have
taken retirement, uh you know, uh settlement and just kind
of walked away. So there's a lot to the Alex
Smith thing, which we've all just kind of championed the
fact that he's back and how amazing it is, But
(21:13):
there's other parts to it which make it even more fascinating,
Like could he actually end up starting for the Washington
football team right now that now he's able to practice
that they have to get a idea of what he
can do and what he can't do or what if
there are any limitations, and that will absolutely that absolutely
is going to play into it. There's no question about it.
(21:33):
Uh how much he can do from a day to
day basis, and as you said, you make a great point,
how athletic is he. I look forward to seeing that
Adam Kaplan joined his series Sex m NFL NFL Insider
Jadeveon Clowney um Seattle had some money and they've end
up spending it elsewhere. What's the status is of his market?
(21:54):
I've said all along that it's going to be the
Sea he was with Seattle last season. I think gets
Tennessee or or or probably nobody. I think when you look,
you at it, to be honest with you, I mean
Clowney turned down a lot of money at the start
of free agency. I think what happened was there is
that he kind of oversold himself. Remember he's coming back
(22:15):
from muscle core surgery. Okay, that's what is the a
k a a sports hernia. He was not himself last season.
The tape showed it. This is what personnel people tell me.
The Titans have not backed off. They want him, there's
no question, but they're not willing to meet his asking price.
The word around the league is Doug and I heard
your segment before it came on. The word is clearly
(22:37):
that he's not willing to lower his asking price is
something that's reasonable. Now, if he could get down a
ten to twelve million for this season, you're gonna see
at least a half a dozen teams that are sort
of hovering or over but not making any offers get involved.
But if he wants eighteen, if he wants seventeen eighteen
million a season, which is the belief or in the
National Football Gage that he wants, he's gonna have to continue.
(22:58):
You to wait. Now what he can wait as you
and I talked about these injuries, he could just wait
and see if anybody gets hurt. That's what That's how
players great leverage to the rations. And he's got the
great bus Cook and so far, I know the Browns
wanted him back and then once he said no, they
wanted to sign him at the start of free agency.
Once he said no, they moved on. And you saw
(23:19):
that they had the they did a big time extension. Uh,
and they've kind of moved on so there's not a
lot of suitors. Now, I will agree with you on that.
But if you just lower his asking price, he could
be going somewhere very very soon. Yeah, it could be,
but we just have not seen that desire to do so.
Which one him though they want him? Yeah, and and
Cleveland apparently we wanted him or who knows they backed off. Yeah,
(23:42):
you know what happened is they extended Miles Garrett. Ironically,
Miles Garrett has the same agent as the affron mentioned
Jenevian claiming, which is kind of amazing to me. Who's
the team we should be paying more attention to this year?
Al Right? So every year I come up with these teams.
Last year my team's at where the Titans and the Niners.
I missed the year when the Rams shocked everybody. With
(24:05):
in Sean mcvag's first year, I would say, a couple
of teams you need to be talking about or keep
an eye on. One's obvious. With Tom Brady, the buccaneer,
John figures any question about that, he gives them credibility.
I think that they look their defense really closed. Well,
now they won't be turning the ball over like crazy.
With Jameis Winson as their quarterback. The team that I
think could kind of surprise people because they were not
(24:27):
very good last season, but I think they've had a
terrific offseason. I'm not saying they're gonna make the playoffs,
but the first thing that comes to mind of the
Denver Broncos, their offense is being rebuilt. They're absolutely loaded
at the skill positions. Melvin Gordon kJ hamlet wide receiver
in the draft, and Drew Lock. I'm very high on
uh Vic Fanjo's their defend, their their their head coach,
but he's with a defensive background. Second year in that defense,
(24:51):
I think they're gonna get it. I think they're gonna improve.
I think that's a team that's gonna push for a
wild card spot. Last year I picked the Titans to
win a wild card. Obviously one division and then one
more team that I that. I'm not saying they're going
to make the playoffs, but I do expect that. Chicago Bears,
who obviously fell off last season big time. You know,
talking to the Bears, they're very happy with the new
coaching staff, particularly the offensive coaching room. John d. Filippo's
(25:15):
their quarterback coach, was one of the best developers of
the quarterback position, Matt Naggie and Bill Laser. I think
they're gonna do a great job. And whoever their quarterback
is my money. By the way, I'm taking the underdog
there of taking Trabisky. I think they're gonna I think
they're gonna get much better quarterback play with whoever wins
that job. Yeah, I'm with you on I I do
think that Robinsky gets to start to start the season.
(25:37):
I do think they should be better better. I'm I'm,
I'm I'm fascinated by uh By all By all of that. Um,
let me ask you about Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tom Brady
is like, hey, finally get a chance to play for
an offensive coach. But do their offensive philosophies actually blend together. Well,
what they're gonna do is it's interesting with Gronk in there,
and they're so loaded tight end, they're gonna go. It's
(25:58):
called twelve personnel, which means their main formation is going
to be one back, two tight ends, and two receivers.
Godwin and Mike Evans are your receivers. Gronk and O
g Howard or or Gronk and Cameron. Brad will be
the tight ends. It's it's gonna be more of a
conventional old school offense. They're gonna have a committee at
running back and this will play well. Now, the question
is how much is Gronc haff left from not playing
(26:19):
last season. He's thirty one years old. We know about
the injury history, but Gronk and Brady have tremendous chemistry.
I'm really looking forward to see how the two guys
play together. But it's gonna be more of a scaled
out offense. See what happened last year's Jamis Winson put
a huge numbers, but because he would keep turning it
over and then team would have to come back and
throw the ball like crazy, you're not gonna see thet
you know. He asked about what kind of offense is
(26:41):
it gonna suit Brady that he's not gonna be throwing
the ball forty times a game, somewhere low low thirty
attempts per game, probably no more than thirty five a
game as long as they're ahead. I don't see a
past happy offense here. But it's gonna be very tight
end friendly. You could expect that, yeah, I would. I
tend to believe that as well. Um we We talked
a little bit about the Redskins and Fires quarterback. What
(27:04):
do they do without Darius Guys now a running back,
it's gonna be Adrian Peterson, who was always gonna be
Adrian Peterson. But I'm gonna give you a name to
watch out for. Now's Antonio Gibson, their third round pick,
who was a hybrid running back wide receiver. Talking to
a Memphis coaching source, he went to Memphis. The kid
has built like he's he sort of looks it looks
(27:24):
like a bodybuilder. He's about two twenty pounds, but he
run a four three at forty at the combine. And
he's a very intriguing player. But the one issue is
asking him to be a hybrid player through this abbreviated
training camp and no off season on the field and
no preseason. But if you're a Washington fan, you watch
him and Bryce Love out of Stanford, who was coming
(27:44):
back from a c O reconstruction. They're gonna back up
Peterson and Peterson is no question about it. He is
the guy at running back for the Washington team. By
the way, he is thirty five years old. Yeah, well,
I mean, like, look, you need some money he's had
some obviously some financial different colties, but he is Guy's
a workhorse and he's kind of old school hand the
football and he'll get you three yards short of running back.
(28:08):
Are you buying what Cleveland selling? You know? Last year
I spent two days with them. They were visiting the Colts.
I was at a combined practice and the hype machine
was ridiculous. Most hype team I had seen in years,
so just and obviously didn't lead up to it, didn't
land anything. They were disappointing once again, but I like
that they're having a quiet camps. Kevin Stefanski is going
(28:28):
to run another twelve personnel offense. There. You're going to
see Nick Chubbin and Cream Hunt dominate Carrie. So they're
not gonna throw the ball to on talking to the Browns,
They're gonna scout down the offense for Baker Mayfield. They're
gonna try to help him. There was too pass happy
last season, and I just think that they're a team
that's gonna be eight and eight, nine and seven. Their
(28:48):
defense should be fantastic. Offensively, though, um they need some
help at wide receiver. They have no depth. Their offensive
line needs a little bit of help. But I'll tell
you what I like that there's not a lot of
hype with his football team, and and having a quiet
camp and have a team that doesn't have any height.
Maybe they can suppress some people that this season. Yeah,
I tend to I tend to agree. Does Bryant going
(29:10):
to work out for the Ravens. I didn't like Antonio
Brown to the Ravens. Only he wants he needs a
volume of ballstow on his way. You're not gonna get it.
Does just be kind of happy to be in the league.
Do you think he makes it back to the league. Yeah,
that's a good read on him. Now here's the read
for personal people. He didn't run very well. He he
had I mean when at the time the Cowboys parted ways,
he didn't look like he had much. But what he
(29:33):
can do is as a fourth NFL receiver, he's a
possession receiver. He just doesn't run very well. He's six
ft two, He's guys put up a lot of numbers.
He'll have a chance to sign with a team that
is looking for depth. But you have to know what
he is and he's not. He's just he's a slower receiver.
The knock with NFL people when they would watch his tape.
He sort of freelances a little bit. But you make
(29:55):
a good point. He's desperate to play football. He's in
his thirties now. As a fourth receiver, you could do well.
And by the way, Baltimore, when you speak of Baltimore,
is gonna work him out there. They don't have very
many veterans there in terms of backups. They're very young.
Marquise Hollywood Brown and Miles Boykin, Devin Duvernain, James Prochet
in the draft. They just need a veteran and he
(30:15):
would be a fourth receiver if he'd wind up signing
for them. Yeah, I think the question would be, like
you said, the freelancing if you're a go to guy
and you're just kind of getting open, but that's not
seemingly how lamartin. You need to be able to block,
you know, and you need to be able to have
a defined role in and be where he expects you
to be. I don't think you get to a point
(30:36):
like Junior say, I was the great freelancer until he
came to the Patriots. Then he didn't freelance. So it'll
be fascinated see out of Captain. Check him out serious
x M NFL Radio. Of course, you can also listen
to him on Dan Buyer's Show, where they talk about
whether or not they would purchase a home when somebody
was often that in that home or off themselves at home. Adam,
great stuff, Thanks for joining us. The pleasures, pleasures sadly
(30:59):
all mine. That's really kind of what it comes down
to it. Sadly sadly ah mine. All right? Um, oh,
interesting stuff coming up and what the Fox said, including um,
what Colin Coward think of Kristoph's Prozingi's ejection? Give you

This time, we'd like to play for you a portion
of a previous show on Fox Sports Radio or Fox
Sports One. We call it say Doug gotlip show here
(31:45):
on Fox Sports Radio. Oh, this is I like this. Uh,
this is Colin cow heard talking about Kris Stops prozingis
getting thrown in the last night's game. Everybody knows the rules.
I have seen Lebron James, one of the smartest basketball
players ever, multiple times in his career during a skirmish,
and what does Lebron do. He stays on the periphery
(32:06):
because Lebron know he's the best guy on the floor.
Marcus Morris is involved in this. He's the seventh best clipper.
Port Zingis is the second best Maverick. You've got to
know how valuable you are, especially to a young team
who's best players twenty Luca. I've seen Lebron James multiple times,
(32:26):
and I've heard criticism through the years, like why isn't
he getting involved because he's super smart. If you're a
James Harden, you're a Lebron, you're a port Zingis, you're
a Janis, and there's a skirmish you can yell, you
don't get anywhere near it, especially if you've already got
a technical, if you're one ticket from your license being pulled.
(32:48):
The responsibility now is not on the cop, it's on you.
It's totally shifted. M I I get I like, I
understand what he's saying, but it's not like Perzingis when
running in cocked his arm back through a punch and
then was like, what what what? I just lost my
mind for a second. You know that that's that's not
(33:08):
an accurate depiction of what happened. You know, this is
who the Clippers are. They try to be a little
extra physical. A couple of guys got a reputation to
being dirty. You know, they swing around your best player
and when you're a big guy, yes, your best players
are supposed to be protected by your you know, fifth
and six and seven best player, got it. But when
(33:29):
you're a big guy, you're supposed to protect your guards.
And even though Luca is a pretty big fella for
a guard, he's not nearly as big as Perzingis. Not
that Persinkis can even do anything or hurt anybody the
seven foot three stick, But you know, if he does
make contact, that's a lot, that's a lot of a
lot of wind up, if you will, I don't blame Persingis.
If if you want to blame Perzingas for not remembering
(33:51):
that he had a technical foul, sure, but then you
have to do the same thing for the officials. You
gotta do the same thing for the officials. Yeah, I like,
look is he is he responsible. Yeah, responsible, Um, it's hit.
Prezingis fault for putting himself in that position. But can
(34:16):
you remember a star player getting a set in technical
foul and getting injected when he wasn't even really involved.
He just came to his teammate's defense. Of course you
can't because it doesn't happen. That's what the Fox said
Doug Olieve Show here on Fox Sports Radio. Yeah, I
thought that was pretty weak. Um, should we be freaking
(34:40):
out more? Should we be freaking out more about about
the Bucks losing game one of the playoffs. Let's go
to our resident Bucks fan, Dan Fire. What do you
think about? Yeah? No, I think that I think that
there is concern and I think what's gonna happen on
social media. It's gonna end up blowing up to all
(35:00):
whole uh Janice free agent sort of thing. But part
of the problem is is that maybe Janice is a
little bit of part of the problem with you put
a clip up of one of his brick threes today.
Seemed to get frustrated. And I'm not saying that he
isn't their best player, but um, Orlando seemed to do
a job with everybody at the basket and I do
(35:21):
think that there. I do think that there is a
little bit of concern considering how poorly they played. They
were only three and five in the bubble, uh when
in the in those seeding games. As I'm trying to say,
but I think there's a little bit concerned. And as
I mentioned earlier, for those that may have missed it,
we have no idea on how the actual bubble is
going to play out. Everything seemed normal yesterday because all
(35:42):
the higher seeds one uh. Today we had a little
bit of a curveball with this, So I think that
there's there's still some question m hm um. I think
there's a lot of questions. There, a lot of questions
you know that I don't I frankly just don't know
the answer to and i'd lied love. But the biggest
thing is this does feel like it's felt previously, right
(36:02):
where all of a sudden you get to the playoffs,
it's a little bit different. You can't get to the
rim nearly as much. The games there, you're a little
bit able to be a little bit more physical with
him like this stuff does seem to you know. I
will also say this because I mentioned the Raptors series
and actually reference it quite a bit when I talk
about the Bucks last year. Remember they dropped game one
of their series against Boston and everybody was saying, oh, okay,
(36:25):
here it is again. And then the Bucks won the
next four and that series was over with. So this
isn't uh, you know, it's not like they haven't been
in a spot that is somewhat similar to this that
I think you're gonna see panic and but it is
a seven game series, and you know they could win
the next four and this this thing could be over with.
(36:45):
I think people just like to look at find Wartz.
And I mean not saying that the top seed losing
is in the top story, because it is. But let's
a seven game series. Are you going the media? Is
that what you're doing? You're going in the media. I mean,
but it shouldn't be a seven game series, right, it's
the eight seeds, ash Lean, you're the you have the
best record in the East. You have the best record
in the East last year. This shouldn't be a seven
game series. But it likely. Yeah, it was the series
(37:09):
that I saw most people who made predictions where they
would put games to it had a sweep because people
weren't picking the Lakers to sweep Portland. Uh, there weren't
people picking the Clippers to sweep the Mavericks. This was
the series that was going to be a sweep. Maybe
a few picked the Raptors to sweep the Nuts, but
this was the series and that didn't happen. M all right,
(37:33):
coming up next, we'll continue to cover this. Just see.
You know, you're aware NBA playoffs going on as we speak.
Orlando beat the Bucks. Really let him you know, start
to finish. It did get closed several times over but
not at at the end. We'll react to that. Uh.
But when Nick Saban speaks, everyone should listen. Wait to
hear what he said about the possibility of major college
(37:55):
football moving to the spring. We discussed next in The
Dugallop Show.
