(00:28):
in the NFL that's not actually getting the proper respect
or evaluation. I will tell you who that team is,
coming up here shortly on Fox Sports Radio. Jonas Knox
in for Doug Gottlieb here on fs ARE. You can

Whoever you are taking part in the program, we appreciate
(00:50):
you doing so. Merry Christmas to you and yours as
we come here live on Fox Sports Radio, taking you
all the way up until seven pm Eastern time. Here
on fs ARE, obviously we've got Week sixteen in the NFL,
which is kicking off at the bottom of the hour.
We've got the Vikings and the Saints, so a massive
(01:11):
game for a couple of reasons. For the New Orleans
Saints coming up at the bottom of the hour, and
it's a massive game for the Saints for for for starters,
home field this year, al right, home field advantage this
year for the Saints, I think is not so much
important that they get the home game as it is
important that they don't have to go play in green Bay.
(01:33):
That's the way I look at it, and I've been
saying this for a couple of weeks. I think Green
Bay is the only team in the NFL that's got
the only team in the NFC rather that's got a
home field advantage near the top, the only team because
one of the advantages that New Orleans always had was
the noise, the crowd, the sound um. You can hardly
hear yourself. Same thing in Seattle to where they'll be
(01:53):
false start penalties and they'd be so noisy. And I
have not been to a game in New Orleans, but
I've been to a m in Seattle. It's crazy, the
design of the stadium, the way that it was construct
just the fans in general. It's just a different vibe there. Man.
It's it's chaotic, it's crazy, it's noisy. And I was
(02:14):
there for just a marginal game. It wasn't even it
was a regular season game. The Seahawks weren't all that great,
the team they were playing wasn't all that great, and
it was loud as hell. And so you can imagine
that goes up tenfold when you get into the postseason
when now Seattle doesn't have that, that doesn't exist same
thing in New Orleans. New Orleans always been talking about,
(02:35):
especially in a dome situation, New Orleans is going to
be a place that's that's a tough out and a
tough spot to go try and win a game, especially
in the playoffs, because of how noisy they get and
because of how much they love their team. They love
the Saints. I was working in the South when New
Orleans won the Super Bowl back in two thousand nine,
and even I wasn't even in Louisiana. But there's a
(02:58):
a segment of the pop pulation out there that loves
the New Orleans Saints college football, and there's a segment
of the population out there that loves the Saints. And
so when you have that going into playoff game, it's
a big advantage. Well, New Orleans doesn't have that, but
at least they could be playing at home and at
least they could be playing in their own building, and
(03:20):
at least they wouldn't have to go play at Lambeau
in January. With those elements, that's the one thing New
Orleans doesn't want. And you can make the case if
they want to continue to hold out, hope to have
home field and not have to go travel to January
in January to Lambeau with Drew Brees and his thirty
nine broken ribs or whatever they want to call it.
(03:40):
Every time I hear the report about Drew Brees, they
move the goalposts on his ribs. Anybody else noticed that?
I mean, he's got like I first heard wall, you know,
he had eight broken ribs the first time, and then
he had a leven the second time. Okay, hold on
a second. So he broke ribs after the first game
with Tampa Bay or the second game with Tampa Bay.
Then he came back and he brought the rest of
So what is he not eveny ribs left? What is
(04:03):
it like like a bag of funnians that you squeeze
and they just turn to crumbs at the end. Like
I don't I don't understand. What Why is his body
so much different than everybody else. And let me ask
you another question. What is there more of ribs and
Drew Brees body or apologies from Drew Brees this offseason?
I want to know, and I don't. I don't think
it's unfair to ask these questions, right that that's all
(04:25):
I want to know. I want to know. I gotta
get to the bottom of this Drew Brees stuff. Right.
So with that being said, they don't want to go
play in Lamb in January. They don't want any part
of it, no part of it. I don't think anybody does.
So then it brings up the question, right, at some point,
this whole Saints window it's gonna close, right, I mean,
(04:50):
it's not gonna be like this forever to where every
single year they're Super Bowl contenders. Now how do I
know that? Well, because it's not normal in the NFL
in the NBA. It is in the NBA you can
slowly build towards a championship. You can get to the
first round one year and then the second round the
(05:10):
other year, and there's a slow climb in the NBA.
That was one of the things that they documented on
The Last Dance, that fake documentary not really a documentary
of there's some lies in there, just pointing it out,
but that that fake documentary. The last dance, they talked
about how there was a build for Jordan's and the Bulls.
They had to get past you know, whether it was Boston,
and then they get past Detroit and then they had
(05:31):
like there was a slow build. The NFL is not
like that. Windows closed so fast, which is what makes
what the Patriots did that much more incredible. The run
that the Patriots went on, we will never see anything
like it. And so New Orleans feels like they're this
team that gets really really close, they're almost there and
(05:51):
then something goes wrong. Now full disclosure, I have been
predicting the end of the New Orleans Saints window for
about three years. Okay, but my point, my whole thing is,
at some point I gotta be right. Okay, you walk
by Roulette Wheel, you see that it's hit black like
ten times in a row. I don't care if the
(06:13):
people have thousand dollar chips on black on the a
hole that puts five dollars on red, because I just
assume law of averages, it's going to go the other way.
Now that doesn't actually work. That way. That's not how
this thing is done, but that's how my mind process
is this. And so I have gone red on the
New Orleans Saints the past three seasons. At some point
(06:34):
it's got to hit red. And there's a good chance
if they lose this game today to Minnesota, which wouldn't
be the craziest thought in the world. They're about a
six six and a half point favorite depending on where
you look, the New Orleans Saints. But Minnesota has gotten
them a couple of times in the postseason, all right,
that has happened a couple of times. And as we
talked about a short time ago here on Fox Sports
(06:56):
Radio of Dalvin Cook gets going, Minnesota does have talent.
They do have talent, and and there's there's the potential
that they could get God, especially if Drew Brees is
still nowhere close to they can try and say, oh, well,
he's good enough to go. And Drew Brees did not
look percent at all whatsoever. But I'm just wondering how
(07:16):
much longer can you get so close and have it
not work out and then just assume I don't worry
about it, We'll be back next year. Especially the catastrophic
I've talked about this before. I don't know any team
that has had more catastrophic ends to seasons that continues
to get back there other than the Bills. The Bills
(07:37):
in the early nineties. Who would get to a Super
Bowl wide right, get to a super Bowl, get blown out,
get to a Super Bowl lead at halftime, lose a lead,
get to another Super Bowl, have your coach talk trash
about about the offensive line, and then next thing you know,
you're losing to Washington, like the Bills over and over
(07:58):
got their hearts broken. Now, I I still call the
Bills of dynasty. I still think they're a dynasty. To
go to a super Bowl four years in a row,
I call that a dynasty. I'm sorry, one of the
most improbable, impressive feats we've ever seen in the NFL.
I don't care that they didn't win. It would have
been nice to win, But the fact that they kept
losing heartbreakers and kept getting back their four straight years
(08:20):
tells me everything I need to know about that organization.
The talent, the determination, the balls that they had, the
entire organization, I call them a dynasty. Well, if you're
the Saints, how many times can you get your heart
ripped out before it's just not gonna happen anymore. I mean,
(08:40):
they get to the postseason, they've got a lead, they're
controlling the game against Minnesota, and then you have the
Minneapolis miracle where you've got a safety completely with on
an open field tackle, but not with like he got
juked die for something that wasn't there. It was like
he got abducted by aliens, like he was the guy
off fire in the sky and they threw him under
(09:01):
the table was served draining in his face, and then
dig scores a touchdown and you're looking around going what.
Brady Quinn and I were on the air for that,
and I remember I said to Brady afterwards because he
lost it as we were watching it on the air
at Fox Sports Trading, and I said, hey, what just
happened one of that really, like, I can't even believe
(09:21):
that that happened. Then you get back the next year,
you go to the NFC Title Game and one of
the most egregious non calls in the NFL that we've
ever seen, the passenger fearence that was not called against
the l A Rams, and you lose that game. Now,
let's set the record straight. They did get an opportunity.
They got the ball first and overtime and they threw
(09:41):
an interception. It was batted up in the air. But
let's be truthful, if that pass interference gets called, completely
different conversation we're probably having here today. But you lose
that game, then you get back last year the same vikings.
You could argue passe inter fearence and not called on
Kyle Rudolph in the end zone. Minnesota is off the
upset and they win the game. At some point, you
(10:03):
can't just keep going back and assuming I don't worry,
we'll get him next year, and if you look at
Drew Brees age and where they're at whatever, I just
I think this could be it. I really do think
that this is it for New Orleans. And I wonder
if Sean Payton knows it. I wonder if Drew Brees
knows it, which is why he's he's adamant about coming back.
(10:25):
I think Drew Brees, I think, felt a little bit
of that last year because the report that I heard
and something that I saw was that they thought Drew
Brees was not coming back at all, that it was over.
You know, he signed the contract with NBC, He's got
this deal, and then you know they were he had
to really be talked into from what every from from
(10:45):
what I heard that Drew Brees had to be talked
into coming back this year. And so you just see
all of these things happening and going the way that
they've gone the past couple of years, and and I
just think at some point the window closes. It is
for everybody, and it closes faster in the NFL. If
New Orleans loses this game today and they lose home
(11:07):
field advantage in the NFC playoffs, and there's still the
potential even if they win that they could lose home
field advantage because they're the outside looking in right now.
But if they lose today and they sew up no
home field advantage in the NFL playoffs and they might
potentially have to go to lambeau Field, that's a wrap
on the Saints window. Jonas knocks in for Doug Gottliep
(11:28):
here on Fox Sports Radio. You can hang out with
us as always on the I Heart Radio app. You
can get me on Twitter at the Jonas Knocks at
the Jonas Knocks on Twitter. All right, coming up next,
there's a team in the NFL who did something that
everybody told them not to and it is worked perfectly.
(11:49):
Find out what team that is. I'll tell you next
year on Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch the
live edition of The Doug Gottlieb Show weekdays at three
p m. Easter noon Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and
the I Heart Radio app. Jonas knocks in for Doug
Gottlieb here on Fox Sports Radio. You can hang out
with us as always on the I Heart Radio app. Uh.
(12:11):
Coming up in We'll call to a little over ten
minutes from now here on Fox Sports Radio. We will
have a story in the world of sports of a
lot of people giving unfair criticism to a certain team. Right.
I think it's unfair criticism. Nobody wants to defend this team.
I will defend this team. Uh. They're They're a team
that that has been picked on and made fun of.
(12:34):
Their best player got bullied again on social media a
couple of days ago. It's a terrible situation. I'm gonna
be the one to stick up for him, so that
will happen. Uh coming up in a little over ten
minutes from now on Fox Sports Radio. Also, at some
point I was writing down a list of Christmas pet
peeves that I gotta get to at some point during
the show because there's some things that happened on Christmas
(12:56):
that really pissed me off. They really really get under
my skin. Uh So, I don't know when this is
gonna happen. I've got three, al right, I've got three
that are really strong. So we might even save that
for the end of the show, because I cannot stand
it and I'm tired of it, and with the invention
of social media, it's just gotten worse. It is poison.
They have polluted, uh your eyes having to see this crap.
(13:18):
I will not be a part of it, but I
will expose it here. So that'll be coming up at
some point here on the show. Just letting you know,
I gotta get out of my chest, all right, listen,
I know that this is not the cheery show everybody
wants it to be. All Right. We we speak truths here,
we speak facts here on Fox Sports Radio. That's what
we do. Jonahs knocks in for Doug Gottlieb. Can we
give some credit where credits due? Al Right, So, one
(13:39):
of the games of the weekend in the NFL, if
not the game of the weekend Titans at the Packers
Sunday night football primetime, gonna get an opportunity to see
Aaron Rodgers bounce back against U the Tennessee Titans. And
I don't, look, I don't know what to make. We
were just talking about home field advantage in the NFC,
and I think, look, if it goes through Lambeau, I
(14:00):
I think the Packers are the only team with the
home field advantage just because of the elements. I don't
think New Orleans wants any part of having to go
to Lambau. And now, of course, if you have to,
you will. And it's not like the Packers haven't lost
at home in the postseason before. Everybody remembers Tom Coughlin's
face melting during the NFC title game back in in
two thousand seven, one of the most amazing human transitions
(14:21):
we've seen in a long time. I mean, now, there's
some other ones that are that are more well known,
but we're not looking to get in trouble here in
the air. That's all we're gonna do. We're not gonna
do that. Everybody knows who I'm talking about, but we
will leave that one alone. But Tom Coughlin uh, his
face melting before our very eyes in a two thousand
seven slash eight NFC championship game against the Giants. I mean,
(14:45):
that was lambeau Field. That was the elements. I don't
think the Saints want any part of that. I just
I don't. I don't think that's that's one that they
would like. Not ideal. Um has have before the Packers
have lost, but it's not ideal. I don't know what
to make of green Bay after the last game. My
expectation would be that green Bay is going to roll
(15:06):
in this game against Tennessee. That would be my expectation.
My thought on that is this, the Packers came out
against Carolina, and they ran the ball, and they established
themselves early on, and then they just weren't very good afterwards.
Aaron Rodgers was pissed. He looked pissed. Now. I think
he was pissed for a couple of reasons. I'm not
trying to say the guy's an egomaniac. That's not where
(15:28):
I'm going here. I don't know the guy. I'm not
here to call names, alright, I'm not here. I mean
he's you know, he's a little bit of h I
mean let's just say he's been campaigning a little bit
for this MVP award. Can we just say that. I
think that's fair to say Aaron Rodgers. It feels like
this year he really wants that m v P award,
like that, that's something that he would love to have.
You know, he's he saw them go out and draft
(15:48):
a quarterback and move up in the first round to
come back the next year and win m v P.
I think Aaron Rodgers really like that. So he's got
a little bit of a red ass, it feels like,
and this year and lately the past couple of weeks
has felt like him campaigning a little bit for the
m v P. And I would have said, man, Aaron
Rodgers is your m v P. And then he rolls
out that last weekend in a primetime standalone game and
(16:11):
it looked like the Packers from a year ago. And
I don't know what to do with that. I don't
I don't know if that's just Green Bay having a
you know, kind of a tricky let down spot against
Carolina looking ahead to to Tennessee the next week, or what.
But my expectation, if I were a gambling man and
I am I'm just not good at it. If I
were a gambling man, I would bet on green Bay
(16:33):
on Sunday night because I just imagine they're gonna respond.
Davante Adams had had an off night. He's going to respond,
and green Bay is going to figure it out against Tennessee,
whose defense is just not good. They're not good. I mean,
it just it it's it's just it's a fact they're
not Their defense is not good. That's been a problem.
Here's how I knew that. And teams will always tell
(16:55):
you where they're at from a roster standpoint, way before
you even think about it. So teams will always tell you,
all right, so so where are we at? And it
will be with a move that they made, and sometimes
it will be with a move that they try to
make but can't make, or really try hard to make.
(17:17):
There's a reason Tennessee got into a bidding war with
Jedevion Clowney and the New Orleans Saints to try and
sign him in the off season. All right, there's a
reason the Tennessee Titans we're in a bidding war for
a guy who's never had double digit sacks in a
season as a pass rusher. And there's a reason for that.
Here's the reason. Their pass rush is awful. It is awful.
(17:43):
They're dead last in sacks, dead last in the NFL.
That's my big problem with Tennessee. It's not the offense,
it's a defense. I don't I don't trust that their
defense can figure it out at a high enough level
that they're going to be able to make a deep
(18:04):
run again in the postseason. I just don't trust it.
I mean, what Derrick Henry gives them is fantastic. He
gave it to him all year. Last year in the postseason,
he was awesome. I don't trust the defense at all
at hole. They're they're one of the worst defenses in
the NFL. They're they're a bottom third UH points defense
in the NFL. They're dead last in sacks. I don't
(18:26):
trust them. But here's why I will give Tennessee credit
on this. They nailed the quarterback and the running back.
Ryan Tannehill has been an absolute home run. I think
the stats go through his through his last twenty one games,
he's got better numbers in the homes. He's been off
the charts. He's he's he went from whatever he was
(18:49):
sort of mediocre. Miami was kind of all out on
him because you know, injuries and it just wasn't working
there and they were going in a different direction. And
he's taken a giant step to another level. So he's
gotten to Tennessee. That has been a home run move.
And I give him credit for it because when they
made the move, it was we're gonna give this guy
(19:09):
good backup money. Ryan Tannehill and his agent also deserve
credit because they negotiated a contract to where it was
a one year deal. If they got an opportunity to play,
they were going to play at a high level and
then hopefully parlay that into a contract extension. It's exactly
what they did. Exactly what they did. I expected he
was going to take a step back this year. Teams
are going to figure him out. This is just you know,
(19:32):
I mean, make the signing all you want. He's a
good enough quarterback to be a franchise quarterback, but teams
are going to figure him out. They haven't. He's been awesome.
A J. Brown has been awesome. By the way A J.
Brown and DK Metcalf on the same college team is
frightening that they were at all missed together absolutely frightening.
Here's the one that I'm really going to give him
credit on. In this day and age where everybody tells
(19:56):
you don't pay a running back. Don't pay your running back,
use him and lose him, use him up, franchise um,
don't pay your running back. Whatever you do, don't give
that guy any money long term because you're just gonna
get burned. And that's all because of recent examples, whether
you want to look at Ezekiel Elliott or whoever, or
you can even go back to Tennessee when they gave
(20:17):
Chris Johnson the big time contract after his monster season
and what ended up happening with that, but they gave
a running back good money. And all Derrick Henry has
done has gotten better. And there's a legitimate case to
be made. He won't win it because it's a quarterback award.
But if Derrick Henry one m v P, I'm not
(20:38):
pissed about it. I'm not mad. Have you seen him?
He's unbelievable. And that was a guy that Tennessee looked
at and said, well, everybody's saying, don't give a running
back long term money. We're going to give this guy
long term money. While everybody was saying, including Miami, Ryan
Tannehill is not a long term guy. We're going to
(20:59):
give him a long term contract and long term money.
And both those guys have only gotten better, both of them,
so we could say, and I'm not a fan of
the defense, the Jadevian Clowney move told me everything I
needed to know about where Mike Frabel on that team
thought they were at defensively from that side of the ball.
I wasn't crazy about the Malcolm Butler contract. I thought
(21:19):
that was a lot at the time. But the two
positions they've absolutely hit home runs on are the quarterback
in Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry. Because remember this is
the same offseason in which everybody's telling you based on
what happened with Ezekiel Elliott, because he's the most recent
and famous example, don't pay your running back. Don't pay
him their bodies breakdown. Who plays a more physical style
(21:42):
than Derrick Henry and he continues to spin guys like
tops stiff farm everybody that comes in contact with him,
keeps his mouth shut and just plays his ass off.
Great move by the Titans, great move at quarterback give
tennessee credit Jonas knocks him for Doug Gottlieb. You're on
Fox Sports Radio. You can get me on Twitter at
(22:03):
the Jonas Knox at the Jonas Knox on Twitter. All right,
coming up next, Um, there's a team in sports a
lot of people are very harsh on. I'm gonna defend them.
I will defend them. Uh and at the same time
tell their fan base to just go ahead and calm
down a little bit on a certain move they just made.
By the way, coming up of fifteen minutes from now
here on Fox Sports Radio. It is the return of
(22:25):
the weirdest segment in all of sports radio. And I'm
not even making that up. It is something that we
only get to do a handful of times a year,
so it's very rare. But stick around the weirdest segment
in all of sports radio. Coming up fifteen minutes from
now on Fox Sports Radio. And we are waiting kickoff
(22:46):
between the Vikings and the Saints on Fox. Uh. This
is a a big game with playoff implications. As we said,
I don't think the New Orleans Saints want to go
travel to Green Bay. So they will try and win
out and keep their hopes alive. And they gotta deal
with the Minnesota Vikings, who have burned him a couple
of times in the postseason here on Fox Sports Radio. Also,
(23:06):
every time they showed Drew Brees, his shoulder pads are
getting higher and higher on his head. He looks like
that little kid off Little Giants, the kid with the
snot bubbles. I don't know if anybody's seen that movie,
but every like, every time I see the guy, it's
like his head is shrinking and his shoulders are getting bigger.
It's weird, like he's turning into beetlejuice the longer he plays.
I don't get it all right, whatever that means. Um,
(23:28):
let me just say this. There's a lot of people
who smashed the Milwaukee Bucks after the way they played
in the bubble, right, There's a lot of people who
just killed him. Ah, here we go. Janice can't win
the big one. Janice can't do that. Like I mean,
they god murdered and there was talks that yeah, this
(23:49):
is gonna be it be honest, is out man? He's
leaving Milwaukee after this performance. This team, they showed exactly
who they are when things got tough. Okay, let me
defend MLA hockey. The bubble was weird. It was a
weird environment. It was a weird setup. You can say
that these are excuses and whatnot, but just go ahead
and put yourself in in the position of these teams
(24:13):
and tell me if it seems like a normal place
to be. Imagine what you do for work. All of
a sudden, you're sent to a remote location with no
contact with your family, and you've got to get tested
every single day. You gotta eat the same food, you
gotta stay in the same environment you got. I mean,
(24:34):
I didn't. That's why I didn't judge anybody for the
way they performed. I didn't. I didn't rip the clippers
for the way they performed. Did Paul George play good
at times? No, he didn't. Did Kauai come up short? Absolutely?
Were they disappointing, of course, But I didn't think it
was the level of disappointment that doc rivers should have
been fired. I didn't think doc Rowers should have been
fired at all. I just I looked at Alvin Gentry
(24:59):
for New Orleans. Did think Alvin gent Treaters are to
be fired. You stopped the season in March, you pick
it up six months later, and you just expect the
same teams that were good to be as good as
they were before everything is shut down. Who like, who
the hell knows what you're getting with these teams? Nobody knows.
That's why I want to watch what Miami does. Miami
(25:20):
one earlier today, all right, they beat New Orleans. Congratulations,
Miami beat New Orleans there one on one. On the season.
I want to see what Miami's like this season. Honestly,
I want to see if Miami takes what they did
from a year ago, or not even a year ago,
a couple of months ago in the bubble, and and
brings that over to this season in the NBA under
normal at least somewhat normal circumstances, at least to where
(25:43):
you're going to different arenas you're doing. I want to
see what it's like. I want to see how they perform.
And that's why I look at Milwaukee and I go
every just calm down. If I were better like the
team that I think is coming out of the East
as Milwaukee, I don't even I mean, I don't even
think it's a question in my mind. I don't have
any I'm not looking at Brooklyn and going, oh my god,
(26:04):
I don't know Kyrie and Katie Man, who the hell
knows that those guys. You don't know what you're gonna get.
You have no idea what you're gonna get. I look
at Milwaukee and I go, I mean, they've they've they've
got one of the best players in the NBA. They've
added and gotten better, and it's going to be a
more normal situation and environment for him. So this this
(26:26):
uh crushing of Milwaukee the past couple of months, and oh,
you're honest, Like, he misses a free throw against the
Celtics and he gets ripped for it. Oh yeah, typical, Yannice.
This is what happens to It's like, um, okay, if
we're gonna break down every mis free throw in the
history of the NBA, you're gonna have a lot of
(26:47):
guys who are gonna get killed for it, especially Janice,
who's not exactly the greatest free throw shooter in the world. Right.
If if we're gonna do that, then we're gonna be
here a long time ripping into guys. Now, I will
say this, right, so as much as I'm I'm giving
Milwaukee a pass and saying I still like them to
go to the finals I will say this for all
of you out there that celebrated that the small market
(27:11):
got one. Go small market, cheers to the little man
who finally got their big time free agent to stick
around and he didn't pull a Lebron and he didn't
go to a bigger market and he didn't join a
super team. For everybody doing that, I would just like
to remind you right that we've heard this before. We've
seen this before. Remember when Kevin Durant left Oklahoma City
(27:32):
and he went to Golden State. What happened after that?
Russell Westbrook signed a contract extension in Oklahoma City and
Thunder fans, you know, the same nerds who showed up
to the first Warriors Thunder game in Oklahoma City and
they were dressed with cupcakes on their head. I mean
literally year old men with fake cupcakes on their head
(27:55):
to try and mock Kevin Durant what a nerd. I
mean that is, that's that's next level geek stuff there.
That that's like, you know, dancing and doing TikTok videos
at the fifty yard line before NFL games. I mean
that that is like nerdy stuff at the top of
the list. That's that's that's geek geek stuff right there,
(28:16):
dressing up his cupcakes as a forty fifty year old
man to go mock a multimillion dollar professional athlete who
decided he wanted to go try something out, something different
for once in his career. Like, that's nerd stuff. But
remember what the celebration was after the fact, they all celebrated.
Hey man, Russell Westbrook side a contract extension, And okay,
see he's not like Kevin Durant. He's willing to stay
(28:39):
here in a small market and work. He's willing to
work for that title. He's he's not taking the easy
way out. Huh was that three teams ago? What do
we wait to three teams ago for Russell Westbrook? Like?
What do mean? I mean what happened? Because I thought
he was gonna be there long term? I said it
at the time when he signed the contract, I said,
(28:59):
hold on in did he sign a twenty year deal?
Was this like Magic Johnson's twenty five year, twenty five
million dollar contract or whatever it was back in the
day in which he was never going to leave the Lakers?
They did, he signed a twenty five year deal. Oh,
it was a three year deal. Oh, so he'll still
be young enough to, you know, like leave at the
end of that three years. I know we want to
(29:20):
celebrate Janice choosing to stick around in Milwaukee. I get
all that, but just go ahead and slow down. The
n b A is weird with weird people sometimes that
play in the NBA, James Harden was looked at as
going to be a rocket for life. They were a
game away from the NBA Finals a couple of years ago.
(29:41):
He's now fighting with second stringers in practice and sending
duffel bags of honey buns two rappers at a club
instead of showing up to camp because he wants out
of Houston so bad. So why don't we go ahead
and just calm down, celebrate the moment. But let is
not parade around and say he did one for the
(30:02):
small market, because the second he feels like he's not
getting fair return for his value and what he brings
to the organization. Do not be surprised if he asked
for a way out. I'm just saying we've seen it
before in the n b A. Jonas Knox Fox Sports
Radio in for Doug Gottliebier on fs ARE. You can
get me on Twitter at the Jonas Knox at The
Jonas Knocks on Twitter. Coming up next, it is the
(30:23):
weirdest segment of all of sports talk radio. If you
don't believe me, stick around. We've got it for you.
Next here on FSR, be sure to catch the live
edition of The Doug Gottlieb Show weekdays at three p m.
Easter noon Pacific. Jonas Knox in for Doug Gottlieb here
on Fox Sports Radio. You can hang out with us
as always on the I Heart Radio app coming up
in fifteen minutes from now here on fs ARE top
(30:46):
of next hour. You are to blame for the evaluation
of one NFL team this season. You are to blame.
I will tell you why. I'm not judging. I'm just
letting you know it's your fault. We will dive into
that here coming up in uh top of next hour
less than fifteen minutes from now on Fox Sports Radio.
We do have a score in the NFL game. We're
(31:07):
not paying attention to that NBA game because that's a
wipe out the Bucks and Warriors. Milwaukee blown them out.
But we do have a score in the Saints Vikings game.
Alvin Camara a forty yard touchdown run. It is championship
uh weekend in fantasy football in a lot of places.
Uh So, if you have Alvin Kamara, you are very happy.
(31:27):
A forty yard touchdown run. And the Saints have a
seven nothing lead over the Minnesota Vikings. But Minnesota is
driving right now. They do have the ball in Saints
territory ten minutes to go in the opening quarter. By
the way, Ralph, before we get to weird world of Ralph,
here's another one. Remember we were saying the camelliable culture
(31:48):
club Karma Chameleon. Every time Alvin Camara scores a touchdown,
they should play music from one of the more underrated
metal bands recently come era. There a Cleveland, Ohio band.
They were big in the early two thousand's Kimara in
honor of Alvin Kmara. Just letting you know, how about that, Ralph,
(32:10):
I'm just letting you know. Listen, I'm letting you know,
like I'm here to give knowledge, all right, I mean
I'm giving knowledge here, Like who thought Kimara the band,
the metal band from Ohio was going to be discussed
on the show today? All right? You talking about work
it overtime here on a Christmas. Thanks Ralph. All right,
with that being said, it is time for something that
we call the weirdest segment in all of sports radio,
(32:31):
a special treat for the holiday. It's time for this.
Be careful, Ralph, my ass and now the weird world
of Ralph Weird. It's been so long, Ralph. Now, are
you sure you're not rusty? You can you can get
(32:52):
this done. We used to do this on weekend overnight
here at Fox Sports Radio. Well, I'm sure I can
get it done. But I can tell you this. Sometimes
you're prepared and then you have a word story fall
right into your lap. So we'll start with that. What
day is it? It's Friday? The NFL is on. That's right.
This marks the first time in the history of the
National Football League a game has been played on every
(33:14):
day of the week in a season. Hasn't so this
is so never okay, yeah, because we had a game
onto this so this is the first. Okay, we've had
Tuesday games before, but we've never had a Wednesday before,
right I believe? So yeah, wow, what are crazy? And
this is the first Friday game of the season. By
the way, Ralph A Dalvin Cook touchdown with the Vikings
(33:35):
and they just went right through that New Orleans defense
as if they were the Vikings defense. Come on, Ralph,
we don't need to pick on Minnesota. They kicked Ragnar
out of the building. They've been jinxed ever since. M
Thank you. Uh. Let's start as we often do in
the NFL, where the Detroit Lions coaching staff is a mess,
and this is no common in the organization just because
(33:56):
of COVID and other things. Interim head coach Darryl Bevil
is out due to a close proximity to somebody tested
positive for COVID nineteen and this comes on the heels
of him firing a special teams coach, Brandon Coombs that
did that Monday for calling an unsanctioned fake putt and
they're lost to Tennessee. But now the entire defensive staff
is out with this COVID situation. Also defensive coordinator Corey Unlin,
(34:20):
defensive line coach Bo Davis, linebackers coach Ty mackenzie, DBS
coach Steve Gregory all out this week against Tampa Bay
Receivers coach Robert Prince will assume the role as the
head coach, their third head coach for a game this season.
You know what, though he may never get an opportunity
to do it again. This may be it, like I
may never ever get a chance to to host my
(34:41):
own show during the week on on an on a
national network. So I cherish these opportunities. It's a shame
that everybody else has COVID. But if you you don't
think that deep down, he's like, hey, man, how about
this for a resume builder. I get to be a
head coach and I get to coach against Tom Brady
and the Bucks in my first game out. That's actually
that's exciting for him. Now here's the the I don't
(35:04):
know if it's the best part of the story. How
about Darryl Bevil, who's an interim coach, firing his special
teams coordinator. Darryl Bevil has never been a head coach,
and so maybe he just said, hey, you know, I
want to see what it's like this guy. This guy. Yeah,
I want to see what it's like on this end.
You know, I'm I'm used to getting fired. Now I
(35:24):
want the power, you know, I've got the power now.
And so Darryl Bevil made the move, and so now
they have no coaches it's interesting, very strange. Well, let's
go to that one state where wild stuff just happens. No,
it's not Florida. That means it must be Ohio. And
if we really want to see stuff, well we go
to Columbus, Ohio. Wait, isn't that we're pretty quins from Dublin.
(35:46):
But it's right next door exactly, you know, Ralph, we're
Inventora County. You and I. You know Thousand Oaks in
Newberry Park. It's the same thing like thousand Oaks in
Newbury Park in southern California for our friends listening at
AM five seventy l a Sports. Except when you're in
on the one on one going to Thousand Oaks, you're
not going to see what this commuter saw on Interstate
six seventy. Nick Na, that's right. It was a man rollerblading,
(36:25):
almost naked with a selfie stick. And to go pro
why almost naked Jonas because he was wearing a panda head.
Oh Jesus, so he had so he had nothing else on,
nothing else on. I mean, honestly, this really seemed like
the tragic end of the Jonas knocks Charles Cheese era.
But that's another story. I'm sure, yeah, I sure is.
And I wasn't wearing what roller blades at that time.
(36:46):
I was trying not to get hitting the balls by
five year old who thought it was funny to attack
Chucky inside chuck e cheese. Um here first, here's can
we just admire at least how impressive that is that
he stayed up right this entire time, Like he stays
right that whole time, and there there is a point
where he's dodging debris on the freeway. I mean, so
(37:06):
basically he turned it into a slalom, went slaloming on rollerblades.
That's impressive. Actually this was this was an extended speed
skating run. Yet, by the way, when's the last time
you got on a pair of rollerblades? Did you ever
have rollerblades when your younger? Ralph? Yeah, but it was
in college and hasn't been much since. I had a
pair of But I could only go in circles left
(37:28):
to right, so that so it wore down the wheels
on the rollerblades to where I couldn't go the other
direction because I would fall over. Well, that's actually you
you had two left skates to no ill, that wouldn't
have mattered. I was terrible at it. Anyways, It's just
not my thing, all right there, it is the weird
world of Ralph. On Fox Sports Radio coming up next,
you are to blame for the criticism of an NFL team.
(37:49):
I'll tell you why next year. On FS are
