all right, so we all watched the game, right, I
think all of us watched. And if you didn't watch
the whole game, you watched, um the you watched the
(01:10):
highlights of the game. And it's it's always interesting, you know.
People are so overreactive to the all that's p I.
That's p I. Obviously, the play in question was was
Godwin and a back shoulder throw and a ball that
was you know, ball thrown perfectly to his right shoulder.
(01:33):
And what's missing is you can call that a push
off if you'd like, but the only reason you had
to push off was he was being held. You know,
So where do we start reviewing the penalty? Where is it?
If you want to go back and say, like, well
there was a review for it, Yeah, there's a review
for it. They would have called holding first. They didn't.
(01:57):
The p I is not called, and I think it
became the right call byer. Let me ask you, did
you were you? Were you standing up screaming at the tv?
Dad's Dad's off? And I'm and I do believe that
the offenses at times get away with murder. I watched
that one, and I didn't think that because I thought
he was being I wasn't screaming, but I I mean,
I to your point, I think that the offense gets
(02:20):
a lot of breaks when it comes to situations like that.
And that was a play that, oh, it was very
close to the side of the game. I didn't think
it should have been offensive past interference. I didn't jump
off my couch, yeah, but I was not. I was
not on a level ten of outrage. But I do
think in that situation. Yeah, Um, okay, because because I
(02:43):
think my biggest my biggest issue is that like, it's
not like they were running alongside of each other and
they both turned and the balls in the air and
he just shoves the other guy and catches the ball.
It's that they're locked up in a hand fight. And
then now and and then he there's obviously a push
there to get open. Well, you know, don't push off,
(03:06):
and then we'll see, as you know, to your point
of when does the grabbing start. If he doesn't push off,
then is defensive passing interference? Called? To me, it was
more jostling than than anything or you know, the the
hand fighting that maybe you would get. And I'm now watching,
you know, I do have the replay in front of me,
so I yeah, I still think it's a push off
(03:27):
back shoulder throw, which is what you want to do
in that situation, Brady, I mean talk about back shoulder.
It hits the back shoulder, and yeah, I think it
was a push off. Um, what about you there? Uh
j STU did you think it was an offensive past interference? Well,
I'm that guy that you made fun of earlier in
(03:47):
the broadcast who doesn't think referee should decide the end
of games. And the swallowed their whistle and went in
crunch time. So I was happy to see the no call. Um.
There was contact the entire way and there was a push.
I love, uh watching the referee make the no call there. Well,
so so what he's saying, and Buyer, tell me if
you think this this makes sense? Right? Is the is
(04:10):
that um? Um is he's saying, Like, look, I don't
like referees to make a call, but referees aren't deciding
a game. If a guy, as you said, pushes off again,
I I agree that it was a no call. You disagree,
But like this idea, if a guy commits an infraction,
that's the referee is not design a game. The player
(04:32):
is the the The argument of first five minutes or
first five seconds are the same as the last five seconds,
not not exactly, not not exactly, Okay, Like I don't
think I'm not a nickel and dime guy in calling everything,
but I mean if a guy goes up for a
shot and he's clearly foul. It's foul. If a guy
goes to catch the football and he's interfered with its interference.
(04:55):
If holding is pretty obvious, it's holding. Now am I gonna,
like I said, am I gonna? Nicol and Diamonell? I
even just just looking back on the on the push
off and the defensive back who's being is falling backwards,
I that is not acting like there is momentum. And
maybe because his momentum was going that way and God
(05:15):
would gave him a push, but like that's there is
no acting on that as all. And I would think
that usually usually maybe a no call in those situations
benefits the defensive, the defensive, you know, the defender usually
of other they just let him play. But this time
the no call ends up hurting them because I didn't
(05:36):
think it was I mean, he extended the arm and yeah,
big play. What do you think, Ramos? I think plays
like that go either way in games. So yes, it
could have been a push off or could have been
no call. And so you're gonna get five times if
that happens five times or ten times five, I'm are
gonna be called in five arts and that was the
(05:58):
one that wasn't that's all that's I look at it
like that. I better that'll happen in the game again
this weekend and it'll be called a offensive push off.
So yeah, it's part of the game. Yeah, I agree
with that. I'm watching to replay of the play, by
the way, and on that on that completion, Tom Brady
shook his head and waved off the call from from
Byron Leftwich. Hey don't call that. I'm Tom Brady like, okay.
(06:22):
He just looks up. He no, no, we're not doing that. No, no,
Tom Brady, no call. Yeah, I've been doing this a while.
This is what we're doing. I haven't done as well.
And and look and Byron left which didn't flint but flinch.
But you know he's sitting there going like this bit
of work. It's a bit of work. Better, better work.
(06:42):
I love I love the video. I just got football.
So it's so well covered, right, that's the other thing
about it. It's just so welcome by Like Mike McCarthy
agreed with the no call, or at least did um
when he was asked about it. Take a listen, I
think when it comes on to tight plays, in a game.
If it's ticky tech, I think you're better. You know, Um,
I would have taken a call, you know, I wouldn't
(07:04):
you know, I'm gonna ask him to pick the flag up.
But you know, I think, you know, holding penalties and
things in clutched time. Yeah, I think it's uh. I
think it has to be a real father there, you know,
So I didn't see it. I mean, that's the coach
of the team who's guy was pushed off, and he
said he didn't see it. Look, that's part of that.
(07:25):
And this is this is a little bit like the
Jordan push. And I'm not trying to say Chris Godwin
is Michael Jordan's, but we have gotten to a place
where that if it's fifty fifty or even sixty forty sixty,
offense still ends up getting the benefit of the doubt. Yes, John,
if you're a Dallas Cowboys fan, are you happy with
(07:45):
that from your coach that he or do you want
him to stick up for the team, be like, you
know what, damn right, that was offensive. I mean, I
guess he can't say that because there's rules against the
Oh I don't know, I know in the NBA, right,
you can't say anything negative about the rafts they find you. Again,
a lot of it is how you say. If you
just say, like, hey, look, I disagreed that call, like
I thought that was past interference. Like nobody's gonna You're
(08:06):
not gonna get fine. It's when you go and you
go like the revs are terrible. They all need Lasik.
None of them can see. I'm not sure they've ever
seen or officiate a football game before. They're all mouth breathers, right, like,
you know, yeah, by the way, they were asking Tom
Brady for his autograph. So that's what I think of
the officials. That will get you fine. If you sit
there and go like, hey, you know, look, I thought
(08:28):
it's passing interfearance. You know it wasn't called. It ends
up being a huge play for them, and maybe they
always won going forward. Like those type of things. Don't
kid you fine, go ahead, But I don't think that
this two years ago would have been a reviewable overturn.
I don't think that the referees would have overturned the
call on the field if you were able to review
it for how they ended up doing it most of
(08:50):
that season. But you said it's not Michael Jordan's pushing
off on Brian Russell. No, but it is the Michael
Jordans of football throwing the pass. And so you wonder, okay,
if that was Deak Prescott or if that was Ryan Fitzpatrick,
or is that is that? Does that play into it?
And question right, no one knows the answer to that
(09:12):
except those officials. We all assume that Tom Brady had
too much time on the clock and that the Bucks
were going to go down and at least figure out
a way to have a chance to get a game
winning kick, and that ended up playing a part in it.
But yeah, I I actually I think that if it
was if that was the New York Jets, I'm not
sure if that's the if. If that isn't called offensive
(09:34):
pass interference, I think that's fair. I think that's absolutely fair. Um,
interesting and fair, Doug Gotlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio.
I don't you know. I don't, But I also don't
know neither do you like. I I'll be interested when
the the league reviews it what what they think about it.
(09:56):
But you're right, I don't know how that would be
officiated if it was the New York Jets. I'd like
to think it's still a no call, but again don't
honestly know. And um, it's an interesting one, a super
interesting one. I was looking at these lines. Here is
we're getting ready for So here's what we do. Every week.
(10:19):
We do it's called five for five. I give you
five college picks I like. I give you five NFL
picks I like, and then we keep a running tally.
I've done quite well. Usually it's one or the other.
I usually have. I've had years where college football I'm
dominant and NFL I'm okay, NFL, I'm dominant in college football. Okay.
(10:40):
Last year was at about both. Be sure to catch
the live edition of the Doug gott Leap Show weekdays
at three p m. Easter noon Pacific on Fox Sports
Radio and the I Heart Radio a app. Doug Gotlip Show,
Fox Sports Radio, Orlando. Scandrick will join US short landing
form Dallas Cowboys Defensive Back out a new podcast with
(11:00):
t Josh Bevenzada. We'll get to that first. Let's get
to some pictures. We gotta five NFL five College. It's
five for five with Doug Gottlis. Let's go five Doug
Gotlip Show, Fox Sports Radio sy Hawk Trophy. Huge huge game,
(11:24):
Huge huge game. Iowa. Iowa State in Ames, Iowa cyclones.
The Hawkeyes does the sy Hawk Trophy. At stake. I
was a four and a half point dog. They dominated
a run pass threat last week in uh panics the
kid from Indiana, and that's how Iowa State plays. I
(11:47):
will look like the real deal on defense. I think
I will win straight up. But if you're gonna give
me four and a half points, I'll take him. I'll
take him. I don't even tease him. I'll take him.
Give me Iowa. UM. Oklahoma State has taken on Tulsa,
only a twelve and a half point favorite. That's because
there's some questions whether or not Spencer Sanders gets the start.
(12:09):
He missed last week's game, a game which they did
not cover against Missouri State, and and he should be
the starting quarterback. I'm gonna bet Gundy starts and plays him.
He's just a much better athlete than Illingworth. I'm gonna
take Oklahoma State, lay the twelve and a half points
and and be good with it. Purdue takes on Yukon,
(12:30):
who's terrible. It was an easy picked last two weeks
ago against Fresno State. Last week, they lost at home
to holy Cross at won double A. Now a Big
Ten team comes in in Purdue. This will not be
competitive and obviously at thirty point four point line, but
when Randy Etzel abruptly retires before this game, they're gonna
(12:52):
get smashed. Smashed. Give me perdue, Okay, give me perdue.
You give me perdue, or you give me um. All right,
I got one more than I'm gonna get to Oregon
and Ohio State with Washington. Jimmy Lakes second game as
head coach after losing him Montana. Montana beout and you think,
(13:15):
but so too is Michigan. Michigan wins forty seven to
fourteen last week, but you know nobody wants to buy
in to Michigan football. They played, uh two different quarterbacks.
You know they had um Blake Quorham run for a
hundred and eleven yards. Thoroughly dominant over Western Michigan. I
(13:36):
just the only a six st half point favorite. Washington
is not good. I don't like their offense and because
of that, I'm gonna take Michigan to win and Michigan
to cover. All right, Oregon digging on Ohio State on Fox.
The disrespect for Oregan is a fourteen a half point
dog considering how competitive last week was for Ohio State.
Plus you got a young quarterback for a house state. Uh.
(13:59):
I've think this is a close game, doesn't mean how
State doesn't win. I would say loves close games. But
that's not a fortune half point game. Give me Oregon.
I will easily take the points there. Let's get to
the NFL, shall we. Chargers are taken on the football team.
I've been telling you all year Chargers top five talent
in the league, and I think Austin Neckuler plays of
(14:21):
aust Neckular plays. Essentially, they're a healthy football team. One
point dog, got washed. I know it's an early start,
first game for your head coach, not your first game
for your sophomore quarterback. I'll take the Chargers over the
football team. Um. I'm later on in my picks, I'm
gonna tell you why, just like I used yesterday when
(14:42):
I picked the Cowboys in the number is very few
games are decided by more than a touchdown in the NFL.
That said, the Lions stink, stink, and the Niners I
think they're gonna be really good. There are eight point
favorites on the road and the fast, fast serve us.
I'm gonna take the Niners to win and the Niners
(15:03):
to cover. Here's what I don't totally get. Colts Seahawks.
Colts at home playing on the fast surface, taking on
the Seahawks cultural three point dogs. Is it our? We
don't believe in Carson Wentz, but we've seen Carson Wentz
playing this offense previously and win a super and and
be an m VP candidate. Um, I'm gonna take the
(15:26):
Colts to win as a home underdog. Colts underdog. The
Packers are three and a half point favorites over the Saints.
I don't think this is particularly competitive. You know, I
know Jamis can throw it and can spin it, but
it does throw it to the other team. You lose
all home field advantage when you're playing in Jacksonville and
the Packers are an elite talented team. Give me the Packers.
(15:49):
Do do Do Do Do Do Do do All. I
got one more here for you that I think you'll like. Um,
the Steelers are to get on the Bills, and everybody
is crazy crazy about the Bills. Rightfully, so Josh Allen,
m VP candidate, a team that's now you know, shown
(16:10):
that they can win in the playoffs an outstanding defense.
But let's not sleep on the Steelers and t J.
Watt and Ben Roethlisberger being back and Nagy Harris being
there starting running back. It's not that I think they
beat the Bills, but again, a six and a half
point line feels like they think Big Ben won't be ready.
(16:30):
Big Ben is ready, Steelers already. I'll take the Steelers
to cover. There's my there's my picks, the five NFL
five College five for five with Doug Gottlie. All right,
let's uh um. He played twelve years in the league,
ten of those with the Dallas Cowboys. Uh he's a
(16:52):
guy that can can can teach you things about football
you had no idea exists. That's why the new podcast
is called About the Game with Josh Pinzata. It launched
last week. He's Orlando Scan Drick. He joined us in
the Doug Gotlip Show on Fox Sports Radio. Uh Skin,
thanks so much for joining us. Let me let's let's
start with the most obvious was that O p I um.
(17:15):
First of all, I must say thank you for having
me on the pleasure always and I think it was
a bank bang play. I don't think it was op
I because I think the DV was already falling backwards
when the when the receiver came back to the bar,
I think the receiver planning and came back to the ball.
I don't think the DV. The DV did and he
was already drifting backwards, so I don't think that was
a nest like necessary contact to get open. I think
(17:38):
he still gets up without it, so I don't I
don't think you make that car right there, plus and
again you lived it. We just watch it. But I mean, like, look,
they're hand fighting and holding each other and so it
it looks more like a push when you could easily
could have called defensive holding before that could you not
probably would have it would have probably been deep dp
(17:58):
I because the ball was in the air. But I
think um with with them allowing the hand fighting, and
I don't think that him getting his arm off of
him was what actually created this separation. I think the
DV didn't have a chance. If you look at which
foot he planted off of, he didn't even have a
chance to plant off that the inside foot and go
(18:18):
back and redirect. So he was already falling backwards stuck
out live show here on Fox Sports Radio. That's the
voice of Orlando Scandrick um all right, in totality, how
did you in the Cowboys looked? One more time? I
did hear young? Sorry, how do you think the Cowboys looked?
I mean, obviously lost the game, and how they I
think they looked good. Um, offensively, I think that looks good.
(18:41):
I think, um, that came and answered a lot of
questions that people may have. I don't think that they
have established their actual identity. I think to have one
of the best running back to the NFL, and you
have to find ways to get him the ball. I
think I don't think they were confident that they can
run the ball against the books. So I think they
thought that they were going to rely on the shoulder
(19:01):
of that. Um. I know they all realized that you're
not gonna get four turnovers the game. You're not gonna
win the turnover margin plus three like that, and I
think it's just painful when you win the turnover margin
by plus three and you lose. Um. Yeah, I mean, now,
one of the turnovers was a hail Mary, right, I
mean as a hail Mary at the end of the
first half. Also that you miss a field goal and
(19:23):
make a very make up a field goal, and you
miss an extra point, and that dramatically changes how it
looks at the end of a game. Um, but you
know dan Quinn comes in different defensive style, add some
pieces to it. End of the day, Is it enough
because they can score points? Do you think they'll be
able to stop stop, to stop anybody. I think they
(19:44):
got two good defensive ends. Um. I think they're they're
they're gonna struggle until they find some dominant forces in
the middle. I think they struggled to push the pocket. Um,
they struggle to push the pocket. I think it was
very rare that they got bready off the spot. I
think they probably got off the spot, may me once
or twice. And I don't think that they looked particularly
well on defense. Also, I know you say that they
(20:07):
missed the still go and they missed the extra point.
But the difference between the books and the Cowboys is
the Bucks score touchdowns in the red on the Cowboys
settlement still goes. That's a huge gent that's a it's
a great it's it's a great point. All right, What
about what about the Buccaneers. Um, look, some of it
is the Cowboys talent, but they also get they got
gave up a bunch of points and and yardage. Should
(20:28):
the Cowboys their front is nasty. Cowboys couldn't run the football.
But there are many people's favorite to repeat as champions.
When you see the Buccaneers, what do you think? I
think you have a great football team. I think they
have the greatest quarterback of all time. Um, they were,
they're They're gonna have to get healthy on the back end.
They had two of their five starters and I'm gonna
(20:49):
say five starters because I can count the Nicholson started.
They had two of their five starters that were out,
you know, by the second quarter, in Shop Murphy, Bunting
and white Hair. So I think it kind of showed
that we're playing with some backup guys and some guys
that maybe have a little bit of less cohesiveness with
the unit. And then they were forced in to play
Jammeldein into a little bit more action than they may
have probably wanted to play him in. And you know,
(21:11):
I think as their young pass rusher and you know,
their veteran press rushers, as they all start to get
back into true shape. You know, I think that was
kind of that Super Bowl hangover. You know, they finished late.
I'm sure everybody got to start back to working out.
And now they'll get going as they did last year,
and they'll get better over time. And I think defensively,
you know, top bowls will make the necessary adjustments and
(21:32):
I think they're gonna be just fine. Um, Cowboys are
a great offense, but I don't. I mean, when you
throw the ball fifty eight times, you're gonna throws. Um.
Derwin James is back for the Chargers. I've had people
in the NFL say, you know, look, there's Aaron Donald's
probably the best player in the league, and they're definitely
the best defensive line in the league and just dominates games.
(21:53):
But if there's a if there's that next tier, Derwin
is is in it. Considering his versatility, do you does
he make that much difference with the him? Can one
guy like a Dorwin make that much difference with the Chargers?
I think he does. I'm excited to see him healthy,
UM hopeful that he can make it through a whole year.
When I was in Kansas City one of my last
(22:13):
years in the league, just to play against him, played
him once, he got hurt the second time, but when
we played him in the first game of season, like
he was just a game changer. He was everywhere. Um,
he's all over the field. They lined him up at
so many different positions, and I think he's definitely a
game changer. And now that they got both healthy, and
then they got a new another year underlot with with
Chiller Chillery I believe his name is. And they gotta
(22:36):
Sante Samuel Jr. And have Chris Harris healthy. I mean,
I'm really excited to watch this any the Los Angeles Chargers, Sorry,
I called myself Diego Los Angeles Chargers. Marcus Peters went
down with an a c L yesterday. And look, anytime
you lose the starting corner, it hurts you. But considering
the way that Baltimore plays right where their corners really
challenge you, and I mean, look, you're gonna get You're
(22:58):
gonna get dusted some sometimes. How much do you think
that changes the Ravens losing a guy of his talent,
I think it's gonna I think it's gonna hurt them
a lot. I don't think it's gonna change them. The
Ravens are who they are. They've been that way for
a long time, and you know, they're one of those
things that pride themselves on depth drafting well and you know,
the next man up. So it's gonna be interesting to
(23:18):
see how they have with the situation, not only with
Marcus Peters, but what they're running backs. You know, they're
running back situation is kind of scarce to have to
bring two guys, well, one guy Leviat Bell off the
street and then to bring another guy from another team,
and when the run is such a vital part of
what they do is it's gonna be different. It's gonna
be a challenge for them at the beginning of the season, No, no,
(23:40):
no question about it. It canna be a massive, a
massive challenge. Um the Packers. You know, you got Aaron
Aaron Rodgers on his Instagram saying it's the last dance.
They got a lot of to do. They've been the
NFC Championship game, uh two consecutive times, and many people
believe they have to make up to back to that
(24:00):
level super level. How difficult do you think it will be? Though?
Considering there is the thought that this is Rogers last
season in Green Bank. I think I look to see
Aaron have laser focus. Um, I looked to see a
rabbi a Rod. He had one of his best years
of his career last year. He's going to continue to
get better. But you know there's start you one other
(24:24):
teams gunning for the Super Bowl, and I think I
know he may be, sayence his last dance, but I'm
pretty sure he's kind of approaching it as a one
day at a time, you know, one step out of
time mentality, and you know it'll be exciting to watch
him this year. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are are a
strong football team, really strong football team. The Dallas Cowboys
have a strong offense. And then when you look at
(24:46):
some of the other like wild Cards and the NFC,
you know, what do you get out of the Giants?
What are you going to get What are you going
to get out of the Washington football team? What are
you gonna get out of Seattle Seahawks? You know it's
gonna be it's gonna be a challenge. What are you
gonna get out of a healthy San Francisco For the
Niners team? Sure, I mean Nick, but Nick Boses and
the stud that that defense is outstanding and obviously they
(25:09):
can when they can run the football, they're terrific. Um
you played against the both. How big an upgrade is
Stafford over golf? Mattie Stufford is a damn good player,
and Jerikoff with a younger player, He's still a talented player.
At the Stafford as it faced this type of pressure
that he's going to be facing planning this type of
(25:29):
market um with that window closing of you know, his
prime years. But I do think it's an upgrade. But
I think some of the same things that makes that's
stuff for good or some of the same things that
makes the bad forces a lot of walls. He trusts
his arm a lot, and you know, in the McVey
like system, it's kind of so systematic that you've got
to kind of take what the defense gives you. Now
(25:51):
you're gonna have your chance to take big shots, but
you gotta take what the defense gives you. Just set
up those pick shots. Orlando Scandra join us and the
Doug got like. She's got a new pod. It's called
about the Games with our guy TJ. Hush Benzada. All right,
So were you and Hush boys when you guys are
both in the league. We were were trained together don
a lockout year UM over at it was at the time,
it was a p I in Carson, California. It's the
(26:15):
StubHub Center now. It was the Home Depot Center at
the time, and you know, we've we've been closed since then.
UM kind of was able to lean on t J
throughout my whole career. Is still able to lean on
them throughout the next phase of the career of her career.
Got out my market in my life, I'm considering my
brother and I'm totally looking forward to it. Check us
out on About the Game, Spotify, Apple, YouTube. DJ is
(26:42):
the best dude. Plus, I mean he's like the best guy,
you know, like the the absolutely like top ten human
beings of guys. And he's his his personal story is amazing.
So are you guys just breaking it's about the game,
so you just break down the games. I mean we
just we just know it's not even games. You talked
to agent and he talks players, UM talk to coaches,
(27:03):
general managers will have all of the guests on which
is talk about the game on offsets, on all phases
and like all parts of the game on the field,
off the field, in the locker room at home. How
is it managing the family. It's gonna be really intense.
Its gonna be raw, it's gonna be uncut, it's gonna
be behind the scenes. It's gonna be what everyone's looking for.
Um okay. Cam Newton gave us his own version of
(27:27):
what he thinks went down in New England. I guess
my question is this like in it, he said, Hey,
I didn't get beat out. It's my aura, you know
which I understand an m v P as a backup,
but you know, like he's basically telling the world he
doesn't think he can be a backup. Well, Cam Newton
play in the NFL this year. Not sure, But I
(27:50):
don't think that he said he didn't get beat out.
I think he said that he thought he felt like
they thought that he would be a distraction and as
a backup. Um, I think he so. I'm not I'm
not mistaken. He said he would have more than happy
to be the backup. He didn't think that. Bill BLI
checking into the Patris thought it was the best idea.
(28:11):
And I don't know, it's kind of hard. It's kind
of hard to go on this thing to being a
backup for camp. I mean, his skill set is so unique. Um,
I think he'd have to be a a backup on
a team that was similar, that did similar things to
what he does well, Um, because he has such a
unique skill set. Yeah. No, he he did say he
didn't think he had beat out. All the rest of
the stuff you said is accurate where he said I
(28:33):
would have been the backup. I have no problem with it,
you know. But they didn't. They didn't want that. They
didn't even ask him about it. But he did. He
did slide in there like I didn't think I got
beat out. It was it was more about when he
was away from the team, and he felt like it
was a foregone conclusion because Mac was a first round pick,
which you know, I think what what played into it
(28:53):
a little bit, Doug, was you know that last year
I got off to the start camp catch COVID um
games put some behind the eight ball this year. I mean,
chooses to not get vaccinated has a little bit of
a miscommunication, and the mix up in the news COVID
policy rules and that type of thing is you just
don't want to make it a distraction. So I think
they made an organizational decision and just move forward with
(29:15):
Matt Jones, who when they drafted it, they knew it
was gonna be a future of the franchise. You gotta
respect that. Um. I think they I think they're time
and maybe releasing Cam was a little bit off because
of so deeply into camp, but I think their hands
were kind of tied, and I think that decision was
made after that second COVID mix up. Yep. I completely
(29:36):
agree with you on on all fronts. Scanned, great stuff, man.
I love to have you back on can't wait here
the pod. Of course, I'll already talk to t J.
But if you do, before I do, tell myself what's
up and we'll talk toon. Okay, thank you, DoD Man.
Enjoy your day, all right. That's Orlando Scandrick. Be sure

Show weekdays at three p m. Easter noon Pacific Doug

a better sports book. Bett Rivers is the trust and
name and online sports betting must be twenty one. You

problem got one and under gambler damn bio Wady got Doug.
We have a lot to get to. Big news from
(30:19):
the NFL. Le Collins, Cowboys right tackle suspended five games
for violating the NFL's policy on substance abuse. The NFL
network says that Collins missed drug test and that's why
he got the five game ban, and I foul announced it,
The Cowboys announced it, everybody reported it, and then it
was reported that Collins at his reps were not happy
because they didn't think that they had exhausted the appeals process.
(30:41):
And then I guess this was still up for debate. Uh,
that will be determined. But right now, Lyle Collins suspended
five games. So I guess that's the agents didn't leak it, right,
somebody else leaked it? Correct? Um? Yeah, um, how do
you you can't miss a drugst This is not that,
(31:02):
this is not that hard. Can't miss him and you
only miss a drug test. Most people believe if you
were going to fail that drug test. Uh. On the
heels of last night's game, TV ratings are in for
that Cowboys Buccaneers game Sports Business Journal says last night's
opener for NBC the highest for an opening game since
(31:23):
when the Patriots hosted the Steelers. So twenty four point
four billion people watched it on NBC. Throwing the different
platforms and the streaming and you got it up to
about twenty six million viewers. But yeah, up from last
year's Texans Chiefs opener in Kansas City. That's pretty that's amazing.
How many? I mean, look, you had Cowboys and you
(31:43):
got Tom Brady. That's correct. Gigantic um. I want to
go back real quick to Lylea Collins. I've said this before,
and you get pushed back from people because they're idiots
and they don't understand that. The NFL's drug testing policies
basically this in the off season, you're not if you
haven't ever toast tested positive before you get tested. If
(32:04):
you pass that test, they do not test you for
recreational drugs the the rest of the year. They don't.
If you pass that test. Now you can be tested
of performance enhancing drugs that's different, but but not not
for uh, for recreational drugs. If he's missing drug tests,
(32:24):
it's most likely means that he failed one of those
the preliminary test, and now you're in the program. And
then once you fail a drug test in the program,
now you're just spending for for for five games or
six games with five apparently because of because he just
missed the test and fail chargers at Duch. Brandon Staley
says he's optimistic. Running Back Austin Ekeler plays out Washington
(32:46):
on Sunday. Ekela officially listed as questionable on the team's
injury reports. It's better than the listeners day to day,
aren't we all fair enough? A couple of other injury notes.
Guard went Nelson a full participant in practice today but
officially listed as questionable for their opener against the Seahawks
on Sunday. Colts quarterback Carson Wentz is gonna start Week one. Yes,
(33:10):
he will be under center for India against Seattle. What
what do you think about that game? I picked the Colts.
I just you know, I I know. The Seahawks are
a team that remember they didn't they they They were
kind of disjointed during training camp obviously because you have
two guys who wanted to get paid. One got money
adjusted the other one, Jamal Adams, got more money. But
(33:32):
I just I think they're good. I think this is
one of those classic culture a talented team, and I
don't I don't know what Carson Wentz will get, but
if we get anywhere near Carson Wentz when he was
in Philly playing under the current coaching staff, they should
be fine. Colts are a little dinged up outside of
the Nelson and Wentz situations where I think that I
(33:52):
don't want to say it sounds like Quentin Nelson's gonna play,
but he was a full participant. Today. They are missing
Eric Fisher, who's gonna be there was gonna be their
left cockle. He's not going to play in the game.
They've lost t Y Hilton. I don't think the sex
are gonna be able to run the football very well,
just because the Colts were second best in yards per
carry allowed last season, behind only Tampa Bay. But I
do think it's a perfect opportunity to let Russ cook
(34:14):
and if the Colts are playing without Xavier Rhodes their cornerback,
that could be an opportunity for DK Metcalfe and Tyler
Lockett and even the rookie D S Gridge to uh
to uh have a game. So I think it's gonna
be a lot on Russ's shoulders. Did I ever tell
you I went to a Seahawks Colts game, you know,
as as a Seahawks fan. I they didn't come to
uh my area that much because they were in the
(34:35):
A f C and you didn't have as money crossover,
you know, the rotation that they have now in the schedule.
But they actually came in in n They were in Indianapolis,
so it drove down from Wisconsin and took in a game.
It was pre Peyton Manning as Jim Harbaugh was the
quarterback and Lynda and Fonte was the Colts coach. At
the time of the Seahawks were led by Dennis Ericson
(34:56):
And yeah, so checked out my Hawks and Colts back
in the day of the old Who's your Dome r
R c A, it was our c A or Who's
your dome at the time. You know, I can't remember what.
Probably that was probably time where there was a sponsorship um,
but so it was it was probably our c A
dome at the time and have to confirm that, but yeah,
it was. It was a great time because that never
(35:18):
you know, I saw the Seahawks when I was seven
years old and hadn't gone to a game and saw
him in a random contest in feel bad for Kurt Warner,
the running back for the Seahawks. No one knows that
he's that Kurt Warner, because I mean, now you say
Kurt Warner, it's all Kurt Warner. TV analysts Hall of Famer.
You know, Super Bowl Champion m v P. I was,
(35:40):
and you talked about the twelves ike s where I
was the only Seahawks fan in that entire dome. It
was half empty because the Colts weren't that much of
a draft. But true story. Texans World quarterback to Shaun
Watson out for Sunday this game against the Jaguars, no surprise,
but the designation doug that they put on him missing
the game quote not injury related. And I've heard people
(36:03):
like I don't Houston is in an impossible situation. I have, man,
I got a plan for how to fix anything. I
don't know how you fix that right now if you're Houston,
and I don't these people that are being critical of Houston,
I just don't get it. The big twelve right now
is well gonna be fourteen for a few years. It
(36:25):
looks like U C F B Y, U Houston and
Cincinnati added to the league approved today. The invites are there.
Three seems to be the target year for those schools
for those schools that join between twenty four is when
supposedly Texas and Oklahoma. I'm gonna guess Texas Oklahoma joined
the SEC next year, figuring on a way uh. One
(36:45):
other note, ESPN reporting Robert Griffin the third saying that J. T. Daniels,
quarterback in Georgia, dealing with an oblique injury, could put
his status for Saturday's game against you a B in question. Yeah,
but r G three breaking news. Yeah that george often
still needed to score touchdown on the year because they
didn't score against Clemson their offense didn't. Finally, dug, Let's
(37:06):
go to Major League Baseball, where earlier today the Giants
and Cubs were playing at Wrigley. Here's a swag and
a dry by Lagoria deep left field. It is gone
all the way to the top of the bleachers. Read
A one Giants, they take the lead for the first time.
That's on the Giants radio network. Brandon Belt would add
another two run home run. Giants wins six to one.
(37:28):
Over the Cubs. So as we speak, San Francisco three
games up on the Dodgers in the NL West. Entering tonight,
Dodgers started series with the Padres at Chevez Ravine. That
should be a good one. Fireworks should ensue, right, yes,
although the distance between the two men at one point
it was close. One point it was close and then
and the Padres had a bunch of injuries with their pitching.
(37:50):
But gosh, they just hit a bad, bad, bad spot there.
And that's the press bag it out there and pressed.
That was the press, My Dan, give me one pick
that you think would surprise people. You will you watch
all these things? Oh gosh, so surprised. I would thought
you were gonna maybe go for a lock. I I
really like the Vikings to beat the Bengals. That's a block.
Give me a lock. Give me Colorado playing against Texas
(38:12):
A and M. They're seventeen point dog. Give me the
Buffaloes to to cover in that game. It's a mile
mile high whatever they're calling it a power stadium or
field or whatever, but so they're not playing at fulsome
no no m. I mean Colin watching Colorado play. You
know when you got the Buffalo running this I always,
(38:33):
I always, just I'm waiting at one point in time
for the Buffalo go. Like you know, these are just
like ropes holding me there. These are just nats on me,
just just just saying all right, you got my beyond
my picks, will put them up on social media. Enjoy
the football. NFL is back. Shocker Tom Brady won a
game late. It's that got lip show
