(00:27):
Want you to Do Gotlip Show, Fox Sports Radio gigging
in with you on a Friday. Oh, I got my picks,
got my picks, and I'm ready who I'm ready, ready,
ready ready today? M m m mmm. Got a lot
of injuries taking place that's gonna skew my opinion on
some of these picks. Where that queed that pick comes

(00:48):
from Gotlieb. But I just I do like to chase
whoever is uh, whoever is healthy, whoever is not healthy? Um. Look,
you can check out the latest lines of World of
Sports about her sports book bet versus the Trust and
Name and online sports betting. It must be twenty one,
must be President Colorado, Illinois, Indiana or Pennsylvania. Play gambling
problem called one d Gambler. Look. The Patriots shut out

(01:10):
the Falcons Mac Jones did essentially what he what's the
expression needed to do right? And Bill Belichick continued his
dominance over rookie head coaches that that we all knew,
but I always find it amazing when I and it does.
It drives me away from social media. It's like you

(01:31):
want to get you want to dip your toe into
social media, Like let me see what people are talking about.
Today is the day you want to like, yeah, I'm
gonna I'm gonna push away from this, right. I don't
know enough about it. I've been paying attention to sports.
Today is a day in which I did my tone
like m nope, nope, nope, Like you ever done that

(01:54):
when you get to you get to your buddies pool,
Like now, listen, do you guys have a heater now?
But it's it's warm? How do you how warm? I
I don't know. We haven't been in it a while
because but it's been sunny, so it's probably pretty war.
You dip your toe and you're like, nope, no, no,
m hm. Did people have pool heaters when we were kids.

(02:16):
I feel like they didn't. I feel like this is
a new thing, right, Like, what is the point of
having a pool if you don't have a pool heater.
That's where I am on it. It seems like a
socioeconomic thing, right if you grew up in a decent area.
I think they did. I didn't have a pool as
a kid, so I don't know. You know, we had
a small house, a small little bit. The backyard was

(02:36):
good for one on one football, or you could pitch
a baseball to my dad. That was about my dog
and the dogs could run around. That was about it.
Um No, But I mean like kids that lived in
nice houses and had and had pools, I feel like
didn't have pool heaters. Now it's like if I did
my toe like nah nah, but I did my toe
in social media watching the game last night. So what

(02:58):
I'm doing is I'm broadcasting game and uh, you know,
I work with Buyer, work with Barry or you would
know that Jays too, Barry Tompkins. Sure, absolutely, How do
you think Barry Tompkins is? Don't don't ask Jays too
because Jays two looked it up earlier today. Ah seventy wow,
he was amazing. I got set there. I thought I

(03:20):
was working with Regis. He sounded so good, you think,
better energy than I had. He was amazing, literally and
crazy was in crub and what a nice guy. Anyway,
So I'm morego Barry Tompkins and I got like, guy,
like two screens up, you know, and there's a women's
The women's game was at five thirties. So the football
games going on. I'm back there watching it in this

(03:41):
like little quasi coaches office with with Steve Alford. He's
switching it back and for he's coaching about it. Now
he's switching it back to watch his son Bryce playing
the G League. I'm like, dude, can we watch this?
So they're like no, I watch to watch his son
Bryce play. Like okay, So I go and throw it,
throw it on my iPad. Then I'm at core side
and mutch. So I decided to dip my toe into

(04:02):
social media. And you're like, yeah, uh, I can't tell
you how many people when when they punt and they're
in the Falcons territory, how many people were like he
doesn't trust Mac Jones. Like Mac Jones is a rookie,
he's not the perfect quarterback, and even if he becomes
the perfect quarterback, he's not. Now your defense is filthy
and the Falcons can't score like, what am I missing?

(04:23):
Here's Belichick talking about the chemistry of this team, ship
with the players and things always a very special one.
It's not something as a coach that you can orchestrate.
I think it just has to happen. Hopefully you put
players together that we'll we'll be able to form those
kind of relationships and trust and camaraderie and all those things.
But it's not anything you can legislate or it just

(04:46):
kind of has to happen. I'm glad it's happening, and
I'm glad that they have that kind of feeling because
I do think there's a chemistry that goes with communication
and anticipation and and you know, knowing what the other
guys doing and him knowing what you're doing and be
be able to play aggressively with all that. So I
think it's, you know, it's a good thing coaching there

(05:07):
in that he rarely is that deep with his answers.
So it's obviously you're coming off a win, you're playing well,
he likes his team, people are asking him complimentary questions.
That's not hard to talk about the chemistry and this
team and how good it is. But I also thought
that the smart coaching aspect of was he took exactly

(05:28):
zero credit for it. Right, Take a listen one more time,
bramst react that, take a listen to one more time.
There's zero credit taken. Really smart coach. The relationship with
the players and things always a very special one. It's
not something as a coach that you can orchestrate. I
think it just has to happen. Hopefully you put players
together that we'll we'll be able to form those kind

(05:48):
of relationships and trust and camaraderie and all those things.
But it's not anything you can legislate or it just
kind of has to happen. I'm glad it's happening, and
I'm glad that they that kind of feeling because I
do think there's a chemistry that goes with communication and
anticipation and you don't know what the other guys doing
and him knowing what you're doing and being able to

(06:10):
play aggressively with all that. So I think it's you know,
it's a good thing. Mhmm, jay Sto, you want to
say something, go ahead, but yeah, and and um, I
don't want to be overreacting, uh talk show producer here,
but like when I hear him. Uh that expansive about
chemistry and people having a pretty good time on his team.
It's almost like, yeah, that book that was written where

(06:32):
Tom Brady hated his time here and it's no fun
to play here and I'm a big curmudgeon. Uh No,
I think people like being here. And that guy Kyle
van Noy that that had the interception there late he
came back this this is a pretty pretty a great
chemistry around here. You know. Yeah, I don't know if
that's what that that's the book did say that at

(06:53):
some point doing the same thing over and over again
isn't that much fun. It doesn't mean that it's not fun, right, Um,
But yes, I I just think it's the everyone's picked
up on how this team is jelling and evolving. And uh,
somebody pointed out in the question, here's Mac Jones talking
about the family oriented offensive unit. We have a great

(07:14):
group of guys. Early on, you're just trying to figure
your way out with me in there, and I'm trying
to learn as best I can. But these guys have
all played tons of football, and my trust everybody on
our offense. Um, I feel like I can play better
to help them. It's the best team sport there is.
I think our offensive unit really has that family feel
to it, and we love each other and we play

(07:35):
together and we play for each other, so we just
have to keep doing that. It's it's really it's an
interesting thing that they've become kind of, uh this it
does feel like the Brady thing all over again. I
don't think he's as good as Brady. I'm I'm gonna
I don't think he'll be as good as Brady. I
don't think he has the arm of Brady. But do
you remember, and this is gonna challenge people, the first

(07:58):
Super Bowl the Patriots were in, they changed how superl
introductions go. Previous to that, they'd introduce either an offensive
player or the defense, with whichever like one side's offense
the other side defense, and the St. Louis Rams were
introduced first, and they were stars upon stars. Kurt war right,

(08:18):
Marshall Falk like you just kind of go, Isaac Bruce,
Ahzakim right, Tory holt Um, what's the Ohio State? Why
am I blanking right now? Buyer Ohio State? Left? Tackle,
Orlando Pace, Orlando Pace, And they introduced star after star
after star, and how the Patriots come out and now

(08:41):
doing a Patriots defense or no, I think they said
now doing a Patriots and they just all came running
out like the running of the bulls. I think they
even specifically said the Patriots have chosen to be introduced
as a team. I think that's what because summer All,
I think did the announcement ruining super Bowl introductions from
that fad forward? Yeah, yes they ruined everything. Can you

(09:02):
do a summer all? Who's who did the summer all?
Was that? J can you can you do summer roll?
Announcing that the Patriots want to be introduced as a team.
I could probably try it, and I will, But I
will say this about my impressions. I'm not an impressionist,
so I usually just do the impression and not do
the impression. If you tell you don't want to do

(09:23):
the impression, just say you know, I'm not that good.
I don't want to do depression. Don't give me the
I don't want to do the impression crap. So literally,
when you do the impression, you gotta get in your
voice and your heart and your soul who you're doing impression.
If not, I just I don't do it. Just say
I'm give me somebody else. What I was saying is
I typically just go to the one line when I

(09:44):
do my impressions because that's the one that I've nailed.
But let me try it. So so you're saying, uh,
Pat summer Les announcing the two Patriots, Yes, and their
entrance to the football field. But the Patriots, the line
was the newing the Patriots chose to be introduced as
a team and now the new England Patriots. So allow

(10:10):
me to allow me to do the allow me to
do that that summer On because I think the am
I corrected saying that the key part of the summer
All is the less is more with words. That's exactly
what it is. But I always do the exact same
impression with summer On. It's Emmett Smith for one maybe two. Well,

(10:35):
he used to do Emmett Smith at the forty touchdown Cowboys, right,
or he did one year he did the Cotton Bowl
and he just kept saying Cotton Bowl. Mean to say,
Texas forty ten touchdown, Texas Cotton Bowl. It's like just

(10:59):
tarting throw like he is he getting paid by the
word and he had that was so bad by Jason. Jason,
you forgot the line that the Patriots want to be
introduced as a team. That was actually something he said.
You did, Ramos, you didn't hear buy or say it right?
I did, but I would say it too right. I did,

(11:20):
and I was waiting for Jason to sound like Pat Summarroll.
It just was like two words and it was done.
And I'm like, that did not at all? Okay, so
one more ready, here we go. Okay, okay, weladdies and gentlemen,
the Patriots have asked to be announced as a team
for two maybe three. Well, it's not fair when you

(11:44):
have Ramos laughing, not even anyway. I thought it wasn't bad.
You know who has a good Pat Summarroll is Big Mike.
Go get Big Mike. He does because he always walked
down the hall and say, John, who am I goes
Pat Summer? All he really doesn't do? Can you go

(12:05):
get him? Go go get him? That's not that's not
a problem. Big Mike runs our entire office. I don't
actually know what he does. And then that he's run
the entire office, I don't know if his help through
the door. No, I just I don't. I don't like
what specifically does like can does the schedule. He helps
cure us out, he helps Jason out, he helps Ramos out,

(12:28):
he helps me out. He does. There are times which
he comes in the studio. I gotta pee and he's
talking and I don't want to be disrespectful, because I
do I like him, but he also understands I have
to pee. And then we have our bathroom situation where
there's two bathrooms their unisect once one seaters, and yet
there's a men's bathroom in a women's bathroom, and you
the men cannot use the women's bathroom, even though I

(12:50):
don't think we have any women that work in that
area anyway. So there's like one bathroom. So you know,
if Ramos goes up there and tears it up, and
then I gotta and in. I got like thirty seconds
to pee, you know, I gotta walk into I go,
I gotta go and get what's it called Dutch ovens
in there? All right? Do we have do we have
Big Mike? I called down to the studio and he

(13:12):
stepped out for a second, and it's probably what he's
stepped out for. But yeah, we'll be he'll be with us,
hopeful if he's not in there, we can make fun
of him. Right, so he's out, We're not really making fun,
We're just making statements we can make. I can say
that if he's out of the office, he's only doing
one thing, you know. I I did find on on
YouTube a uh Summer All in Madden calling in N

(13:36):
six Giants Seahawks game in Seattle. Would you like to
just hear the beginning of it to see if you
see how it works? Where at the Kingdom in Seattle
and those of you who have been watching Dallas in Philadelphia,
we'll keep you up to date on what happens in
that game. Right now, we're just about ready to kick
off with the Seahawks Nor Johnson in the direction of

(13:57):
Phil mcconfy and Mark Collas. So there you go. So
there's kind of your baseline of what of what Pat
summer All would sound like. Now you can have uh
J Stew's impersonation or Big Mike's impersonation using that as
your baseline. All right, Big Mike, we appreciate you joining us.
Can you give us give us some Summer All of

(14:19):
you it. He's looking for that the guy run, he
runs the whole that he doesn't need a headset. Well,
I think he needs to hear what you're saying. So
can you hear us? Mike? Okay, I am good to go. Okay, okay, Mike,
can you give us a pat summer? Wrong? Hi? John,
how are you doing tonight? That was off? That was

(14:47):
off the wagon? That's off the wagon? Summer a third
quarter summer? All well, well, Joe Buck said, he pe
in bottle. Turned out the bottle was left behind by
pat sum are all? That's that's that's Can you introduce
the Remember the England Patriots when they made their first

(15:08):
Super Bowl they were introduced as a team, and some
are all said, and the Patriots want to be introduced
as a team. And then he introduced the new Patriots,
and the new England Patriots want to be introduced as
a team. Here are the new England Patriots. That's terrible.
That is brutal. Um. Yeah, that's not great, not I

(15:35):
it's not good to be. When I was in the
other studio and he come by, he goes, John, who
am I You're like projecting Ramos. He's not projecting. He
just got done smoking a cigarette and he just got
to like regain his thoughts and focus here really. My
only the only impression that of that that is worthwhile
is the high John highs like a word thing to work.

(15:59):
I do have the Super About thirty six introduction. Okay, okay,
if you'd like to, if you'd like to hear that,
all right, super Bowl thirty six has started to build.
It's started a long time ago. An hour heading in
to the climax in New Orleans, the ninth Super Bowl

(16:24):
to be played in New Orleans. He's vamping, but the
way has been a wonderful host setting stretch stretching. The
crowd was entertaining with a spectaculor free game show. By
the way, the rams have already been introduced. So he's
flying solo right now. Whoa, he's our ladies and gentlemen

(16:54):
choosing to be introduced as a team. Here are the
American Football time first champions three. Oh, I take it back.
I think I nailed I think you can do I know,
I think you can totally nail it. Do you want
you want another shot at it? No? Actually I really don't.
I don't think that's gonna go well for anybody. That

(17:17):
was kind of my point, Like us people that aren't
very good at impressions if we do have them, like
you just have your go to couple of words and
you want out, you can't do it. You can't be
too creative. Like Caliendo is amazing at doing whatever he wants,
but like us us amateur. I should have kN text Kylie,
he'd come on, he'd give us his his Uh, alright,

(17:37):
I got my picks to get you the way. He
lost of his business with Gruden being ousted, although although
there is room for like now, he could do the
what Gruden's really saying stuff right, I mean again, like
if it's a comedy routine, he'd go like what Gruden says,
what Gruden really means? Did I get an ouch because

(17:58):
there was a harsh comment? Or is that he's that
he's lost his business because you're right, you can't do
a Grouden right now, and you can't do you can't
do Bill Cosby anymore either, And they're good friends, so
it's not like he's gonna go on on torpedo the
Bill Cosby and John Gruden and Grudener buddies. I'm kidding,
I'm kidding, I'm kidding, kidding, kidding. Um, yeah, that's that.

(18:22):
You gotta pick up a new impression. Who would be
the recognizable impression? You gotta start doing Tony romo. I
think you know, just do more Tony romos. All right,
I'll tell you what games to bet on and what
to avoid next. Be sure to catch the live edition
of the Doug Gottlieb Show weekdays at three p m.
Easter noon Pacific. Doug Gottlip Show, Fox Sports Radio. A

(18:57):
lot of stuff to get to. Let's tackle it with
our games. Let's get some picks. Five NFL five college.
It's five for five with Doug Goblin. Let's go five.
All right, five five. I got five picks for you

(19:19):
that I think you're gonna absolutely positively love, I mean love. Um.
Let's start, shall we? In the Big Ten Conference. Michigan
State is headed to the Big House. Of course, as
many of you know who listened to him on the
weekends and weekdays. Now, Dan Buyer huge, huge Ohio State

(19:42):
guy in Michigan State, they're claimed to famous. They beat Michigan,
but then they subsequently lost to Purdue. I Meanwhile, Ohiwse
State just trounged Purdue at home. Beat Nebraska by nine,
beat Penn State by nine, nine, beat Indiana by a
million beat Maryland by even more. So they are nineteen

(20:06):
point favorite against the Michigan State. Michigan State's got a
great running game. Michigan State is nine and one. Michigan
State's coming off a nineteen point win against Maryland. They
lost Perdue beat Michigan a close win over Indiana beat
you know like like then, I have blowout wins against
the good teams except for I guess Miami Florida. But

(20:27):
but here's what I think. I just think nineteens too much.
And I know last week I thought, I think it
was twenty one was too much for Purdue. I'm I'm
thinking Michigan State keeps this thing close. We've seen them
win there before. Hey, we've seen all kinds of crazy
things happen. Michigan State is a nineteen point favorite. Of

(20:48):
the money is on Michigan State on that line, So
I'm gonna take I'm gonna take Michigan State, Okay, but
I'm also going to take the under its sixties seven
and a half. That's a lot of points, especially if
for a team that likes to run the football as
much as Michigan State. They're gonna try and shorten the game.
So I got two picks in one M s U

(21:09):
plus nineteen and the under, which is sixty seven and
a half. We go to that good Okay. Texas is
taken on West Virginia. The Horns are an abject disaster.
They've lost five in a row. They lost to oh
U comeback fashion, O s U come back fashion, Baylor

(21:33):
close game, Iowa State not close game, and Kansas Huge
comeback to lose in overtime fifty seven fifty six. They
take down a West Virginia club who I don't know
if anybody's paying attention to it, but you know they've
lost two in a row at home, no Glhoma State
on the road to Kansas State. They have several home
loss on the year, including Texas Tech. I think this
is a game that Texas breaks out of it. I

(21:55):
just do. It's been a tough year. Everybody's on their
booties and their um. Texas is an I have them
as a two and a half point dog. I like
him on the money line. I like him to win
the game. Give me Texas. Iowa State has taken on Oklahoma.

(22:17):
Oklahoma's at eight and a half point favorite. Oklahoma comes
off a devastating loss to Baylor. They gotta win out
they want any hope of playing for a college football
playoff and college football National Championship. Iowa State plays up
to the biggest opponents. I don't know if they win this.
I like the points. I'll take Iowa State in the points. Similarly, similarly, Nebraska. Okay,

(22:41):
Nebraska is on the road at Wisconsin. Now, I remember Wisconsin.
If you if you bailed on the Badgers because their
offense was so bad, say against Wisconsin or than the year,
what have you missed? An absolute explosion. They've won six
games in a row, right, and the last three Iowa

(23:02):
seven Rutgers fifty two three northwesternt to seven. Northwestern is
a nine and a half point dog, and they haven't
lost by more than nine points all year, even though
they lost seven games four in a row. All right,
I like Nebraska to cover, So I like Nebraska to cover.

(23:22):
Gave Nebraska. So if you're looking at these numbers, I
got Nebraska as a nine team. Excuse me. Nebraska is
a nine a half point dog. I got Iowa State
as an eight and a half point dog. I got
Texas as a two and a half point dog, and
I got Michigan State as a nineteen point dog. Plus
they have the under in that game. Those are the
college picks. Let's get to the NFL. Onn work backwards,

(23:48):
the Chargers are taking on the Pittsburgh Steelers. We don't
know about their quarterback situation and it's not good. They
don't have Joe Hayden, they don't have t. J. Watt,
they don't have Manka Fitzpatch like those are all their
good players, you know. I mean, yeah, they got good
wide receivers. But who's gonna get in the ball. I

(24:09):
love love the Chargers. It's six now, it'll probably be
eight by kickoff. Get the Chargers now, this one's one.
I don't understand green Bay's taking on balt green Bay's
taken on Minnesota. Now, Minnesota's played well, they just beat
the Chargers blancol football. They return home, had to play there.
But the Packers feel like an elite team. And I

(24:31):
don't think the Vikings are only team. It's a one
point line. Give me green Bay. They're one point favorite.
Cowboys are two and a half point dog in the
Kansa City Chiefs. Chiefs have lost a couple of games
at home. I think the Cowboys can score one of
the few teams that can score with the Chiefs, and
they can slow down the Chiefs. Can they stop them? No,
because they slow him down? Yes, And I I think

(24:55):
the rest of the year is the norm. Last last
weekend was a bit of an outlier against a pleaded
Raiders squad. Give me the Cowboys. Cincinnati is going to
take it on the bean, go and take on the Raiders.
Bengals are a one point favorite. Guess I'm gonna take
the Bengals. I think they're good team. I don't think

(25:16):
they've always played that well this year. I think the
Raiders are on fumes. I think they're frankly done. Give
me Cincinnati. And then here's a pick that I feel
like something I'm not picking up on. Something I must
be missing. But I've been looking at this line all
week and it's only moved a half point. Baltimore is

(25:38):
a six and a half point favorite, taken on the Bears.
Khalil Max is not going to play the rest of
the year, Okay, And maybe it's because we're in love
with Justin Field. I don't know, but the Ravens didn't
play well last time out. They were playing well before that,
but they haven't played since a week ago Thursday. We
could go yesterday. So they're rested. They're rested. And if

(26:01):
you watch the Bears defense, they're slow, They're slow. Um. Yes,
the Ravens have lost two of their last three. Yes,
the defense has shown flaws. Yes, Lamar struggle, but he
goes up and he goes down. I'm gonna take b
more on the road as a road favorite. I got

(26:22):
one more for you, A little bonus pick for you.
The way I do bonus pixes. They only count if
I hit him. San Francisco has taken on Jacksonville. I
think San Francisco's back niners and six and a half,
easy money. Those are the picks there. It is five
NFL five College five for five with Doug gottlie Stub

(26:46):
Gottlieb Show on Fox Sports. Tradiero rich Hornberger joins us.
He's an offensive lineman in the the National Football Leak and
he's the co host of NFL Fox NFL Sunday right
here on Fox Sports, trading with the great Steve Hartman. Rich,
Let's discuss last night's game. Um, I've give my perspective,
I want yours. What do you see? Well, I saw
a Falcons team that was frustrated the whole night by

(27:09):
the amount of pressure that they were facing. Uh. The
quarterbacks who appeared in the game, and it was three
of them, were all under duress, all made mistakes with
the football, and it was because the Patriots are doing
what they've you know, over the past two decades that
Belichick has been there, what he wants them to do,
generating a tremendous amount of pressure upfront, whether it be

(27:31):
just with the four man or three man rush at times,
but also confusing offenses with the deception of past coverages
and the exotic blitz packages. I mean, they clearly had
two goals. It was to rattle Matt Ryan's cage and
to take Kyle Pits out of the game plan. And

(27:51):
they operated um to perfection basically, UM. Outside of a
couple of mistakes offensively by the Patriots offense, it is
as close to uh, a perfect night as you could
ask for. UM. Matt Jones, what's the ceiling? The ceiling
is pretty high, because what what mac Jones shows is

(28:12):
extreme poise. I mean, you know, he was sacked last night.
After sacks, the next play doesn't appear to be affected
by what happened to play prior. You know, he'll throw
an interception here there, and he did last night. In
the next drive, he doesn't show signs of allowing one
bad player, one bad drive to affect him moving forward.

(28:34):
You know, the losses felt and then he tries to
correct it and move on. He's also very accurate, right,
which a lot of people are going to attribute to
a quarterback's natural abilities, which is fine, but it's only
partially true. Doesn't tell the whole story. The most important
part of his accuracy is the fact that he's not
thinking about, Hey, who do I need to throw to?

(28:55):
He's thinking about where do I need to place this
ball to the receiver on hargeting, And that's because he's
got a full understanding of what he's been asked to
do offensively. And that's a credit to Josh McDaniels for
developing the young quarterback and calling plays that within his
capabilities and his wheelhouse. But it's also a huge credit
to mac Jones because he looks like a different pass

(29:18):
or a mid season than he did to start with,
and it's because he has a better understanding of what's
expected of him. Offensively, Cam's going to get the start
here for the Carolina Panthers. What do you think he
has left with his arm? Kim's arm is in really
the issue, and I don't think it ever was outside
of suffering injuries to his arm. His his biggest issue

(29:43):
is is having really, like we were just talking about
with Mac Jones, like a full understanding of what he's
being asked to do offensively. Kim has always struggled when
he's changed coordinators, and you know, and and Tim has
a skill set that availed him the ability to extend
lays and play some more backyard football and and be creative,

(30:04):
but that takes a toll because you're gonna take a
lot of hits. You know, you're gonna tuck the ball
and run it when you don't know where to go
with it, and are you able to hold up? You know,
that's the biggest issue. I think he's got all the
physical tools you want, but durability is the most important
tool in this league. And if you can't stay healthy,
you can't help a team. And so I think it's

(30:25):
fine that the Carolina Panthers are turned into camp. I
think it's gonna give this team a shot in the arm.
A lot of those players who were still there layover
from his time in Carolina. No, he's a great leader,
and he is and he's beloved by his teammates. So
I I think I think camp can ride. Man. I
think it's gonna look okay. But my concerns are how

(30:46):
long can he do it for? And the answer over
the past bunch of seasons is not a whole season.
Help me out, Um, why did the Rams? And they
kind of got pushed around by Tennessee, they got pushed
around by the Niners. How's this team that supposedly so
talented get and pushed around? Well with a lot of

(31:06):
people are figuring out about the Rams is if you
stop the run and you put the game in Matthew
Stafford's hands, Uh, their offense is gonna look very different.
And so what the through line is between both those
losses is how in apt the run game was for
the Los Angeles Rams against the Titans. I think they
rushed for just over sixty yards against the forty is

(31:30):
just over fifty. You know, if you can put the
game in Matthew Stafford's hands and say, okay, you know,
go beat us, You're going to see a different offense.
Cooper Cup is gonna get his yards because he's just
that type of player, having that type of year. Um.
But but if you're going to trust Matthew Stafford to
be the offense, to be the sole proprietor of this offense,

(31:53):
I think I think that's a long, hard day for him,
and you'll see him make some mistakes, and you'll see
him maybe at the ball a little too many times
and get stacked, whereas there might have been an outlet
that he could have checked down to. Uh. You know,
I have a lot of respect for Matthew Stafford and
I think he's a big reason why the Rams are
so dangerous this season. But if you can make the
Rams one dimensional, if you find ways to stop that

(32:15):
run game, you know it, it makes it makes them vulnerable.
Still got leaves show here on Fox Sports. Try what
about the Niners? Do you think they're back? The Niners
are a special team when they're healthy and they've just
gotten healthy again. You know that. You can see it
defensively up front, they can really reach havoc on a passer.

(32:36):
We saw that with what Nick bo Sain company are
able to do against the Rams. But you know, it's
really that oftense. You know, they want to get to
a lot of what the Packers want to get to
these days, a lot of what the Rams want to
get to these days, a lot of what the Browns
want to get to these days. They want to you know,
run side bin to sidebine on those outside zone plays

(32:58):
and find a cut lane and hurt me in the
run game, and then you know, build their passing game
off of the run. And when they're healthy upfront, when
they're healthy in the backfield, the forty nine is can
do that and they can really expose you. Now, I
do think it's a leg up for the forty Niners
and Kyle Shanahan the fact that he knows the opponents
so well when he plays against l A because he

(33:20):
and Sean McVeigh worked together in their path and it
seems like he has the upper hand in those meetings.
But look out for the forty Niners. That's an NFC
dark horse who can start making, you know, piling up
some wins here. They can land in that seven seed
and I don't know if they can contend for the
division because the division is so talented at the top

(33:40):
with the Cardinals with the Rams if they can, you know,
hold on um, but they could certainly appear as a
wild card. Rich great stuff man, awesome. I mean I could, honestly,
I could listen to Talk Football forever, which is good
because I'm gonna listen to you from one to five

(34:48):
Every day. This time we get you up date in
the stories today, let's do so with the press, the press,
damn buyer, douga. MARII Cooper situation is this. He is
going to miss the game against the Chiefs on Sunday.
ESPN says he tested positive for COVID, is not vaccinated,

(35:09):
and he will also miss their Thursday game against the Raiders. Remember,
the Cowboys will also play a Thursday, the Thursday night
game the week after against the Saints. That could maybe
be in jeopardy as well for Amari Cooper, but right now,
Cooper expected to miss their next two games, according to ESPN. Yeah,

(35:29):
I mean it's not good. I mean, you know, it's
you know what's interesting about the guys that have been vaccinated.
Have you noticed that most of those guys are the
ones testing positive at the least opportune time. It's like
one of those things like, look, the whole idea is
to protect you from this situation. It reminds me of
the helmet law, a law designed to protect a brain
that's performing so poorly it doesn't know it needs to

(35:50):
be protected. Same thing. We're not doing this for I'm
not doing it from me, all right, for you and
then for everybody around you, and then for the greater
good whatever. Alvin Gamara out for the Saints against the Eagles.
Not only that, Doug, they are gonna be missing their
two starting tackles. Tron Armstead and Ryan Rampcheck will not
play against Philadelphia. Taysom Hill was questionable with a concussion.

(36:14):
So a lot of Trevor Simeon and mark Ingram against
the Eagles on Sunday. Yikes, But they don't have their
two tackles. Yes, and they also have a short week
because they've got the Bills on Thanksgiving nights. Other than that,
Mrs Lincoln, how's the show? Yeah? Seahawks running back Chris
Carson done for the season. He will need next surgery.
Khalil mac done for the year. Hurt. Yeah, Bears linebacker

(36:36):
is done because he needs foot surgery. Man, just the
injuries last year it was the big name guys. Now
is just piling up with everybody else. What else you got, Yes,
I've got this from the NBA. The Dallas Mavericks will
be retiring Dirk Novitsky's number forty one, doing so on
January five when they host the Golden State Warriors. It's

(37:00):
interesting to retire when the Warriors. Obviously you're gonna have
a sell it. Don't you usually do it on a
night where you're not gonna have a sellout or not going. Yeah,
I thought it was kind of a yeah, like a
homecoming game as well, like Pistons are in town, let's
retire the jersey or the heat who they they that
could have been too just to rub it in the wounds,

(37:21):
or or Lebron when Lebron came with the Lakers. Retired then.
But they're doing it against the Warriors coming up just
after the new year. The name change transformation is complete
as the Major League Baseball team in Cleveland now officially
known as the Guardians. But there was one issue when
they tried to hang up the new sign on the
team store, it fell off the wall and broke in

(37:44):
a bunch of pieces. Yeah, did you see that? It
was yeah, the big, big ceremony as they were starting
starting to sell Guardians gear. I am a big fan
and love new logos and different stuff. I'm not completely
sold on getting any Guardians gear right now. So what
you're saying, is you hate it? Yeah? I just you

(38:06):
just say I don't hate some pretty The c is
kind of kind of cool and clever, right, Yeah, better
than the block. See that they used to have the
block he was lame. Yeah, I don't hate the logo.
I just I like chief wa who. But you know whatever,

(38:29):
I'm gonna quick run down a bunch of actually you
know what, Kyler Murray gametime decision, DeAndre Hopkins out, Elijah
Mitchell doubtful, Jared Goff doubtful, Nick Chubb beck in for
the Browns. No t J. Watt for the Steelers, or
Joe Hayden or Manca Fitzpatrick Dallas Goddard got a four
year extension. Lamar Jackson in for Baltimore. And that's the

(38:51):
press out there and pressed that the pressure catching his breath,
catching his breath, catch breath. How confident are you a
house state versus Michigan stead, I think that Ohio State
will win on Saturday. It's the next week that is
the there's a big question mark in Michigan one. It's crazy.
They just dominated and owned Michigan and now suddenly it's
in the question. But it does feel like, you know,

(39:13):
once we have that game, it's a road game and
and anything can in fact happen. Alright, have a great weekend.
All the pics will be up online, a new All
Ball will drop. I think we've got a couple of
them here in the baggle drop in the morning. Have
have a great weekend. Then of course next wee we've
got Thanksgiving Week with their early games, all kinds of
great stuff. This is Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio,
