in the books and day three underway, the neighborhoods that

they expected it to an extent, but doesn't make it
any easier if you're you're up all night because you've
got a humongous construction project with a lot going on,
and it never stops. They got to get they got
to work on this around the clock, weather permitting, so
they can hit the deadline and get it done when

the semis that are that are everywhere where they're typically

not that just causes all kinds of different issues. Right,
they're just in the way, they can't go that fast,
and I saw yesterday they're not. They're they're in spots
where they need to turn left to follow the detour,
and there's nothing they could have done to position themselves
any better to where they could make the turn without
it being a disaster, and they kind of get stuck.
So probably so far the issues have been things we

would have expected. But again, the can opener, that is

think that they would at least, you know, because it

having a semi truck damaged and who knows maybe this
maybe maybe the next project in Louisville is them having

underpass that's been just you know, it's undefeated, right, hasn't
hasn't taken a loss just yet, but been in many
many fights over the years, and certainly a lot in

from LMPD, it's not a huge shock when you see
the body cam footage, but Chief Humphrey decided to move
on and fire Officer Nathan Stotts, who was the one
who fatally shot twenty seven year old Martin Knitskin Junior,
an unarmed man who was having a mental health episode.
It was an incident that took place on Saturday night.
If you haven't seen the bodycam footage, I think you'll
you'll see why this decision was made from Humphrey, and

you'll see why they took such quick action. Look, they
know what the video is going to show. They don't
need ten business days. They they want to get it
out there and go ahead and let folks know, hey,
we're sorry, we feel for the family, and we've taken
at least action on our end to let this officer
know that there are consequences for making those decisions when
you have that kind of responsibility, and the consequences of

right now is that he's lost his job. But it's
far deeper than just that. Obviously, this is going to
stick with him for a long time. And add this
to the list of things that you run a risk
when you decide to do this job, a very important
job of law enforcement. But when you do it, man,
there's a lot of things you sacrifice, and you put

yourself in a spot that at any day this could
happen and you could make the wrong decision that could
take someone's life and ruin yours. So we'll certainly revisit
that as well. But the moment you've been waiting for

because literally it looks exactly like what you would expect

official that the department plans to move on and is
effectively firing the officer Nathan Stotts who shot an unarmed
man and killed him over the weekend. And you've heard
some of the comments there from Chief Humphrey, But here
here's Mayor Greenberg discussing the situation and the action that

was taken by LMPD that he certainly seems to appreciate.

I think right now, with the investigation still underwigh, what
I can say is that Chief Humphrey and the leadership
of LMPD acted swiftly and decisively to begin these termination proceedings. Today.

As police officers, we have a difficult job, requires us
to make difficult decisions and difficult circumstances. But this is
not an acceptable performance for us. This is not meet

You take such a big responsibility when you swear in
to be a police officer and really just a member
of law enforcement overall, and every day when you get
up and you go to work, you're own patrol. You're
in a situation where what happened over the weekend could
happen to you as a cop. You could find yourself
in a spot where you have to decide on the
fly and the heat of the moment, whether you're in
(11:59):
a situation where your life could potentially be in jeopardy
and do you have to take action to defend yourself
that might cause deadly that might result in deadly force.
So in that moment when you make that decision, you
have no clue at all if in the end, when
everything plays out and the dost settles, you're going to
be able to look back and know that you made
the right decision. I mean, that's a big responsibility and

it's a big risk. You run the risk of finding
out that, despite extensive training and maybe even similar situations
that have played out previously in your law enforcement career,
that you made the right decision, Like you just don't
know in the blink of a second, that decision. I
mean again, it could take someone's life unnecessarily, and it
(12:41):
can ruin yours. And I think there is a lot
of necessary acknowledgment when it comes to what you're signing
up for and what you sacrifice when you become a
police officer. In fact, I think there should be more
acknowledgment of it. But people know, even if they don't
want to admit it, deep down, they know that being
a cop comes with a great risk. If it was
(13:02):
what some people claim, right, just bullies with badges trying
to take advantage of the perks of having that level
of power. I mean, if that was the way more
people saw it, we'd have people lining up to do
the job. Right. They know it's dangerous. It's why a
lot of people don't want to do it. There's a
risk you sacrifice. You could lose your life any day,
(13:24):
and you know going in that's rare, but you can't
be surprised if you're in a situation just like that.
And that's what happened over the weekend. So that's a
layer I think that gets ignored though, because with no
bad intent, maybe the best intentions possible as far as
why you wanted to protect and serve, these things can happen,
although rare, you can't say it's a shocker if you
end up in the situation this officer was in and

it's what you sign up for. I don't know this
officer at all. I will say that, like often in Louisville,
you know people who know people, and I do know
a little bit of out this man's background, and not
in any way to defend him. I mean, clearly there
are consequences for his actions, and he's already feeling the
effects of those consequences unfortunately, and he may even have
(14:12):
further consequence as far as criminal I don't know if
we'll get there, but if you saw the video, I mean,
I don't think it was intentional that he showed up
wanting to kill somebody, but he did exactly that he
shot and killed an unarmed person that as you heard
Paul Humphrey say, there was no they're not trained to
take the action that this guy took. But by all accounts,
(14:35):
there was no red flags. This guy was just looking
to squeeze the trigger when the opportunity presented itself, potentially,
but it can happen and it did happen. There are
times when deadly force is unfortunately necessary, but this was
not one of those instances at all. And look, there
(14:56):
are consequences when you cannot handle those situations, and this
man clearly was not able to handle it the right way,
and it cost somebody's life and ruined probably to the
who knows. Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself here, but
I can't imagine this won't be something that sticks with
this guy for the rest of his life. Maybe he
(15:17):
can still prosper to learn from it. Maybe he becomes
somebody that speaks to other officers about, you know, just
knowing what you really are signing up for, because it
could happen. It happened to him. But let's go and
add that to the list of all the different sacrifices
and risks that it takes to be a law enforcement officer.

Because I don't think there was any way this guy
set out to kill anybody, but in the heat of
the moment, in a split second, he made the wrong decision.
And that can happen to anybody that is a cop.
All right, yesterday, Governor Basher, he signed in order that's
making it legal for more Kentuckians to get their hands

on weed. We'll talk about it next it News Radio

in Kentucky that can qualify to get medical marijuana. So
yesterday Governor b Butsher signed an executive order to clear
up some confusion over who qualifies moving forward for medical
cannabis here in Kentucky. So patients with conditions like terminal illness,

sickle cell anemia, als, Parkinson's disease, HIV and AIDS, Crohn's disease,
severe arthritis, fibromyalgia, lacoma, and there's a few others. So
I will tell you this, I don't have any of
those conditions that are now being I guess included in

what can qualify you. But I will say the effect
of cannabis, it can help you in a lot of ways.
I now take THHC products, not necessarily daily, but it
has been the only thing that has actually helped me
deal with something that I never really knew existed until
(17:03):
I suffered from it, and that was severe anxiety, panic attacks.
And they put you on medicine that they'll tell you,
oh it might take a while, Yeah, it might take
like six weeks for you to notice anything. In fact,
you may notice after six weeks that this isn't helping you,
it's it's hurting you. So then we'll start all over again.

Try new medication for you, give it another six weeks
and see see if it's up, if it's making a difference.
So I was going back and forth on different medications,
and I don't really know if any of them were
helping me a whole lot. In fact, I don't think
they were, and there were some side effects that came
with it that I didn't like. So I kind of
just decided to try to tough it out. And then
I was introduced to THHC products that are just enough

to help me navigate that. And I'm somebody that you know,
is dealing with something that is rather common for folks.
But I'm also paying from it from providers that, of course,
you know, this is not medical marijuana. This is just
THC products, some that you can just get over the counter. Now,
when it comes to medical marijuana, a whole different world.
But now you can qualify to get a card. And

I'm not going to be shocked if nearly everyone out
there that qualifies for any of these new conditions that
now make it to where you can get medical marijuana legally.
I would not be shocked if they all report some
level of benefit from it. So this is good news.
It is good news that more people will be able

to at least give it a shot and see if
they can help them. That can go a long way.

the hell out of you, because clearly some of them
who aren't from here, they have no clue what's about
to happen. And I bet the sound will make you
potentially crap your pants now if you see it and
you second guess it. I mean that at that point,
I think you just get completely stuck. But the the
(09:55):
at least two of them have have seemingly made it through,
but the truck didn't make it through with a roof,
because literally it looks exactly like what you would expect
it would look like if a can opener existed to
take the top off of the cab of an eighteen wheeler.
So again, total tab according to the website at this
point is six. We'll see if we get more of them,

LNPD Chief Paul Humphrey, as you heard there in the
news update from John Shannon, he made it made it

official that the department plans to move on and is
effectively firing the officer Nathan Stotts who shot an unarmed
man and killed him over the weekend. And you've heard
some of the comments there from Chief Humphrey, But here
here's Mayor Greenberg discussing the situation and the action that
(11:00):
was taken by LMPD that he certainly seems to appreciate.

I think right now, with the investigation still underwigh, what
I can say is that Chief Humphrey and the leadership
of LMPD acted swiftly and decisively to begin these termination proceedings. Today.

Here's a little more from Chief Humphrey.
Speaker 6 (11:18):
As police officers, we have a difficult job, requires us
to make difficult decisions and difficult circumstances. But this is
not an acceptable performance for us. This is not meet
our training, It is not what we teach and it
does not meet our values.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
You take such a big responsibility when you swear in
to be a police officer and really just a member
of law enforcement overall, and every day when you get
up and you go to work, you're own patrol. You're
in a situation where what happened over the weekend could
happen to you as a cop. You could find yourself
in a spot where you have to decide on the
fly and the heat of the moment, whether you're in
(11:59):
a situation where your life could potentially be in jeopardy
and do you have to take action to defend yourself
that might cause deadly that might result in deadly force.
So in that moment when you make that decision, you
have no clue at all if in the end, when
everything plays out and the dost settles, you're going to
be able to look back and know that you made
the right decision. I mean, that's a big responsibility and
(12:21):
it's a big risk. You run the risk of finding
out that, despite extensive training and maybe even similar situations
that have played out previously in your law enforcement career,
that you made the right decision, Like you just don't
know in the blink of a second, that decision. I
mean again, it could take someone's life unnecessarily, and it
(12:41):
can ruin yours. And I think there is a lot
of necessary acknowledgment when it comes to what you're signing
up for and what you sacrifice when you become a
police officer. In fact, I think there should be more
acknowledgment of it. But people know, even if they don't
want to admit it, deep down, they know that being
a cop comes with a great risk. If it was
(13:02):
what some people claim, right, just bullies with badges trying
to take advantage of the perks of having that level
of power. I mean, if that was the way more
people saw it, we'd have people lining up to do
the job. Right. They know it's dangerous. It's why a
lot of people don't want to do it. There's a
risk you sacrifice. You could lose your life any day,
(13:24):
and you know going in that's rare, but you can't
be surprised if you're in a situation just like that.
And that's what happened over the weekend. So that's a
layer I think that gets ignored though, because with no
bad intent, maybe the best intentions possible as far as
why you wanted to protect and serve, these things can happen,
although rare, you can't say it's a shocker if you
end up in the situation this officer was in and
(13:50):
it's what you sign up for. I don't know this
officer at all. I will say that, like often in Louisville,
you know people who know people, and I do know
a little bit of out this man's background, and not
in any way to defend him. I mean, clearly there
are consequences for his actions, and he's already feeling the
effects of those consequences unfortunately, and he may even have
(14:12):
further consequence as far as criminal I don't know if
we'll get there, but if you saw the video, I mean,
I don't think it was intentional that he showed up
wanting to kill somebody, but he did exactly that he
shot and killed an unarmed person that as you heard
Paul Humphrey say, there was no they're not trained to
take the action that this guy took. But by all accounts,
(14:35):
there was no red flags. This guy was just looking
to squeeze the trigger when the opportunity presented itself, potentially,
but it can happen and it did happen. There are
times when deadly force is unfortunately necessary, but this was
not one of those instances at all. And look, there
(14:56):
are consequences when you cannot handle those situations, and this
man clearly was not able to handle it the right way,
and it cost somebody's life and ruined probably to the
who knows. Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself here, but
I can't imagine this won't be something that sticks with
this guy for the rest of his life. Maybe he
(15:17):
can still prosper to learn from it. Maybe he becomes
somebody that speaks to other officers about, you know, just
knowing what you really are signing up for, because it
could happen. It happened to him. But let's go and
add that to the list of all the different sacrifices
and risks that it takes to be a law enforcement officer.
(15:37):
Because I don't think there was any way this guy
set out to kill anybody, but in the heat of
the moment, in a split second, he made the wrong decision.
And that can happen to anybody that is a cop.
All right, yesterday, Governor Basher, he signed in order that's
making it legal for more Kentuckians to get their hands
(15:59):
on weed. We'll talk about it next it News Radio
eight forty whas. So there are more of you here
in Kentucky that can qualify to get medical marijuana. So
yesterday Governor b Butsher signed an executive order to clear
up some confusion over who qualifies moving forward for medical
cannabis here in Kentucky. So patients with conditions like terminal illness,
(16:23):
sickle cell anemia, als, Parkinson's disease, HIV and AIDS, Crohn's disease,
severe arthritis, fibromyalgia, lacoma, and there's a few others. So
I will tell you this, I don't have any of
those conditions that are now being I guess included in
(16:43):
what can qualify you. But I will say the effect
of cannabis, it can help you in a lot of ways.
I now take THHC products, not necessarily daily, but it
has been the only thing that has actually helped me
deal with something that I never really knew existed until
(17:03):
I suffered from it, and that was severe anxiety, panic attacks.
And they put you on medicine that they'll tell you,
oh it might take a while, Yeah, it might take
like six weeks for you to notice anything. In fact,
you may notice after six weeks that this isn't helping you,
it's it's hurting you. So then we'll start all over again.
(17:24):
Try new medication for you, give it another six weeks
and see see if it's up, if it's making a difference.
So I was going back and forth on different medications,
and I don't really know if any of them were
helping me a whole lot. In fact, I don't think
they were, and there were some side effects that came
with it that I didn't like. So I kind of
just decided to try to tough it out. And then
I was introduced to THHC products that are just enough
(17:48):
to help me navigate that. And I'm somebody that you know,
is dealing with something that is rather common for folks.
But I'm also paying from it from providers that, of course,
you know, this is not medical marijuana. This is just
THC products, some that you can just get over the counter. Now,
when it comes to medical marijuana, a whole different world.
But now you can qualify to get a card. And
(18:10):
I'm not going to be shocked if nearly everyone out
there that qualifies for any of these new conditions that
now make it to where you can get medical marijuana legally.
I would not be shocked if they all report some
level of benefit from it. So this is good news.
It is good news that more people will be able
(18:31):
to at least give it a shot and see if
they can help them. That can go a long way.
