(00:00):
So the reason we were off onFriday was I had to go to my
younger kid is going to go toMiami University in Ohio, So we had
to go on Friday for like somemeetings and stuff with like the school.
Two things. Number one, whata beautiful campus, Like I haven't been
there. I think I was inOxford, Ohio. Which you fly into
(00:23):
Cincinnati and drive through a bunch ofcornfields. Yeah, how far is it
by mileage or by time time?About an hour? Now? Why did
you ask if I wanted the mileagebecause it's only like thirty five miles.
But you gotta like there's a lotlot like two lane roads like slow through
towns. Yeah, like I don'tknow, like when it snows. I
have no idea how they navigate that. That is crazy and it is it's
(00:47):
like all these like once you getoutside of Cincinnati and I know that.
Oh, can I give you atravel tip about the Cincinnati Airport? All
right? First of all, theCincinnati Airport CVG, don't know what it's
for. I think it's in Kentucky, but you like land in Kentucky and
then Cincinnati's across the river. SomehowI drove through Indiana. I have no
idea how I did that. Butthe Cincinnati Airport two things. Number one,
(01:10):
it's massive. It's enormous. Itis far bigger than people will travel
through Cincinnati. But I found outwhy when it was built. It was
originally supposed to be a hub foran airline, maybe Delta, but when
it was being built, they builtit as this big Midwestern hub where like
it was just supposed to be massivebecause some airline was going to be based
(01:30):
out of there. Well, theybuilt the airport and then the airline bailed
out on them. So it's thismassive airport, but it's pretty empty,
like it's not. I mean it'snot empty empty, but it's not as
it is built, like it's supposedto have hundreds of thousands of people and
it doesn't. But here's your othertravel tip. They have a beautiful outback
(01:51):
steakhouse inside the airport. No no, no no. But you have to
be careful because if you go tothe outback. I learned this the hard
way. If you order a steak, you get a get you get a
fork, but you get like aplastic spork with a like an edge on
it, and you feel like you'resawing down a tree because you can't have
(02:13):
knives in the airport there. Ohbut yeah, but I haven't seen that
anywhere else. I've definitely used aknife at other places, haven't I?
Yes, yeah, definitely, yeah, one hundred Like I feel like I've
used a knife at TGI Fridays, the but not there. You can't use
a knife at the outback there,So I don't understand the why have an
outback? You never know if youfly in and you find yourself at needing
(02:38):
time. So I is that thego to airport when you're trying to get
to Oxford. You could fly intoDayton, but there's not as many flights,
right, so you can fly intoDayton or you could fly into Systemata.
Is Dayton a longer drive too?Never flown into Daton. I don't
know anything about it. I don'tknow if they have an outback. I
don't know if they have knives.I don't know if it was a hub.
(02:58):
I have no idea if if I'mbeing one hundred percent honest, I
don't even know where Dayton is incomparison to Oxford. But anyway, so
you fly into, you fly intoCincinnati and then we rented a car and
we drove to Oxford and you drivethrough like all these cornfields and stuff,
and then you've like pull up intoOxford. Jesus Christ, it's freaking beautiful.
(03:19):
How many kids go to that school? Twenty thousand? It's like eighteen
nineteen thousand kids. It was setup. You realize that school has been
around since eighteen oh nine. Isaw that in your teas eighteen oh nine.
And so a lot of people like, if you're wearing a Miami shirt,
they think you're talking about Florida. So their big thing is we were
a university before Florida was a state. Had no idea the they saw that
(03:43):
on a shirt, the yeah thatis on a shirt? Yeah? The
well, yeah, no, it'spretty good. It's pretty good. But
a couple of things. So theschool, the school is awesome. The
school is great. And I knowa couple of people that have gone to
Miami, like my buddy Bigsie wentthere. So we took a picture in
front to his dorm and then Iwent to the library and found him in
a yearbook. Does appreciate that,No, because he took a lot of
(04:09):
crap for it. But best part, So we're walking down the one of
the streets and it's I mean it'sOxford small, right, it's a it
is a total college town with alittle bit of like like townies around him
and stuff. So we're walking downthe street and I know, like there's
like some older kids that I know, like the older ones age but a
little older who go there. Butyou're not expecting to run into anybody,
(04:30):
you know, there's twenty thousand kidsthat go to school there. We're walking
down the street and there is ait's like Friday evening, yeah, maybe
Friday night. There is a massiveparty going on at a house. There's
probably three four hundred kids. We'rewalking down there and they are all like,
it's great. They're playing dice,they're drinking, there's music blaring.
(04:51):
It's awesome. We're walking down thestreet and Jackie goes, hey, that's
so and so one of your son'sfriends well older, yeah, like the
older kid's friend who's older than him. So I was like, well,
if that's him, we must sayhello, let's get ready to ruin an
evening. So Jackie's like, donot. So I march my ass across
(05:15):
the street right into the middle ofthis college kids having a party. Did
people scatter. No, but hisback was towards me. So as I'm
crossing the street and the music isblaring, and so I walked across the
street and I'm screaming at him, hey, and I'm yelling the kid's name
(05:35):
and yelling the kid's name, anda couple of the other kids who were
cool but are looking at me likewhy is the old man walking there?
They're all freaking out, and theystart to push him away, like he's
done something wrong. So he turnsaround. He's like, oh my god,
mister Siegel. So I hung out. It was great. I had
(05:57):
a beer with all of God youstayed and then and then suddenly there was
a big hole in the middle ofthe party where I was standing. No,
it was great. I don't knowthat dude is. So then I
told him like, hey, mykid's gonna be going here next year,
so I brought him over. Yeah, no, it was fantastic. But
what are the odds in the middleof a big house party, I stroll
(06:19):
in, I see somebody. Iknow it was awesome. Yeah, no,
but it was great. He probablywas, but it was cool.
It was cool, and you know, the the the there's pictures of Mitchcrn
used to be a coach there. There's pictures of him all over, like
(06:40):
all the bars and restaurants and stuff. With the Stanley Cup. We went
to the skating rink, which isbeautiful, by the way, the skating
rink. It's a hockey school morethan it is anything. And my kid's
not going there to go to playhockey, like he'll play in a mural
or something like that. But Ididn't know that about their athletics. Yeah,
oh yeah, like number one byfar is high then like football,
(07:01):
basketball, soccer, like everything elsekind of falls underneath it. But like
their hockey arena, Jesus Christ, that thing is friggin' beautiful, beautiful,
like it is the mausoleum of theschool. Is it newer? I don't
know how long Goggin's been there, but it's been there for a while,
and like in the lobby or allthe jerseys of kids that have gone through
(07:23):
there and then have made it tothe NHL. But yeah, I don't
know. I don't know how longGoggin has been there. Is that named
after a donor or a former player? I believe player. I believe player.
If I'm not mistaken let's see herethey got a big thing set up
for Mitch corn though, I'll tellyou that that says, oh, you
(07:46):
know who else went to Miami?John Walton, the play by play voice.
It is the cradle of coaches likeSean McVeigh went to school there.
Ben Roethlisberger, not a coach, but he went to school there. Oh
you know who else went to schoolthere? Founder of Chipotle? Yeah,
how about that? Founder of Chipotlewent there? Named for Lloyd Gogan,
former school of vice president. Ohno kidding, who was instrumental in building
(08:09):
the original ice arena there you go. Yeah, no, but it's very,
very nice. So that was good. So that's why we weren't here
on Friday, was making a tripthrough Ohio, which worked out nicely that
Diane could go down and visit Martleydown in down in Savannah, down there,
almost ninety degrees. It was hot, was it really? Oh we
were chilly. Yeah, no,it's a touch gold in the middle of
(08:31):
nowhere land, Ohio. But itwas great. So anyway, that's why
we were off on Friday. Andthen one other thing real quickly, just
real quick, and we don't haveto get into the whole deal, do
They always announce the rock and RollHall of Fame in ductees on Sunday Night.
No, and they've never done itan Idol. We knew that happen,
we knew it was happening, butthat was I feel like that's the
first time because usually it just happened. It often happens when we're on the
(08:52):
air, that's right. So theydid it on Idol last night. I
didn't watch Idol last night because ofthe Stanley Cup playoff. Wasn't it like
rock and Roll Hall of Fame night? Like Gene Simmons was there and they
were doing songs from Hall inductees.Oh okay, yeah, No, I
totally lost that. That's why itmade no sense. When I saw the
thing, I was like, whyare they announcing it tonight? But what
(09:15):
better place than to do it onIdle? Did you watch? No?
Oh? Because I also didn't know. Did they do like an in memoriam
for yeah man Deese? No,I think they're doing it. When's the
next show next weekend? I hopeit's after the Stanley Cup. I thought
they were doing it next week becauseat this point I won't see Idol anymore.
I haven't seen Idland god knows howlong since. Probably no, I
(09:37):
think it was before because I onlyremember her by name. She was pretty
pretty big in terms of her presenceon the show. Yeah yeah, and
she's gone on to do very wellChristian radio. Yeah yeah, she's done.
She's done very well in that andin that world. Oh so that
makes sense. That's why I totallydidn't remember. Anyway, We're going to
conveniently just forget altogether because you onlynamed two of not true Yes, Ozzy,
(10:03):
Yeah, Dave Matthews No, Coolin the Gang, Yes, that
was it? Share No, Yes, tried cold quest. Oh yes,
we've posted the audio this year,so you couldn't do this. I think
I got deleted. That definitely stillup on Instagram. A disaster of a
year for you. Wait, sothe only one I got was Ozzye and
(10:26):
Cool in the Gang, who youthought at the time was sugar Hill Gang.
Oh that's right. Are you okaywith Jimmy? What coming in posthumously?
It's just he's never even been considered. Wait was he never on the
ballot? No? You know whatthat? So that explains that because when
I saw that he got in,I was like, why is why I
(10:48):
would have voted for Jimmy Buffett. So there's three. How has he never
been up for nomination? That's crazy? The wait, so how did he
get in? They're doing music excellencelike a build Warwick builders, like like
they'll do for like like the likethe Hockey Hall of Fame. They'll do
like players and stuff, and thenthey'll have like somebody who was like instrumental
(11:09):
in like building the sport of hockeywho made He doesn't have the resu if
he hadn't have died. Oh he'snot. It never would have no zero
chance, even Rolling Stone, whosucks up to the Rock Hall and often
gets the exclusives. And maybe that'swhy they were a little uh Perry got
it. Uh. They called Buffett'sentry a back door. The well it
(11:33):
is, I know, but Imean, the guy has an incredible legacy.
I'm that so it is odd tohe wasn't nominated. They're like,
he got the treatment people thought Shanadewas going to get after she was actually
nominated a nominee. No, no, no, So that's kind of the
key. No Dyingade. All right, So now I don't feel bad because
(12:01):
I saw his name and I waslike, I think I might have voted
for him had he been up onthe that's a new love for you,
claiming you put someone in from thenominee list that wasn't even on the nominee list
