Speaker 1 (00:00):
Very Where Where are you calling me from? Chilomas spring
bro Very good? And you're familiar with clay clay pigeon shooting.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Yeah, I got out.
Speaker 3 (00:11):
Of the Prince George's County range every so every nuns off.
Speaker 1 (00:15):
And it's a great lice anybody the I got that?
But where did you say you go?
Speaker 3 (00:26):
Prince George's County has a great step and skid uh
clay pigeon shooting uh range outing in Prinzulsa County?
Speaker 1 (00:35):
Is it? Is it pretty? I've never been right like
I've never been. I've never been clay pigeon shooting. Is
it like? How is it laid out? Like? Am? I?
Is it like top golf?
Speaker 3 (00:50):
Not to explain it, there are a couple of different ranges.
There's ones where you can do the running rebbits and
you sort of remis hanging or bird shooting, and then
it's got the Olympic one as well, which is where
you can do the proper chepin skeets. And let's laid
out that you'd have a shooting. The guard would stand
(01:10):
and then the clays would come from either side or
from directly in front of you. And there's more than one.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
Of those Okay, he's got five of those. I gotcha.
I got you, all right, very good, very good. Berry.
I Hey, by the way, where are you from? I
hear an accent on you.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
I'm a good old South African.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
Go buy her diamonds from my might down the road.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
Oh there you go. Very good. All right, dude. I
appreciate it. Thank you, sir, Thank you.
Speaker 4 (01:34):
This center is nice one in PG County. Yeah, look
at it. I mean, is it looks like a premiere facility?
Speaker 1 (01:42):
That is nice. That's not what I expected it to be.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
Says A twenty two stations sporting clay's course with covered stations,
eight trap fields, thirteen skeet fields, five stand wobble trap international,
trap international skeet Diane, what is shotgun rental?
Speaker 1 (01:57):
The okay? What is the layout of where people like
you said, there's twenty two fields? What is the layout
of how people are like when I was saying top golf,
where it is like everybody's like right next to each
other and then the skeets come a flying and you
try to shoot them? Or does each bay have its
(02:19):
own clay? Are you always in a bay?
Speaker 4 (02:25):
I feel like my friends did this the morning of
one of the guy's weddings.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
It was.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
It was more driving range, old school style and not
walled off.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
So you're just section So there's thirty of us out
there just with guns, shooting at the same skeets.
Speaker 4 (02:42):
That's the vibe I got from the photos they showed
me because I didn't go. I've told you that I
didn't go.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Line one. Hi Elliott the morning, Yeah, Hi, who's this?
Speaker 5 (02:56):
This is Josh and Rockville.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
Hey, what's going on?
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Josh?
Speaker 5 (02:59):
Hey, what's happening? I shoot clay pigeons for many years
all over the country, in the world for that manut.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
Have you really like is that like if you go
on vacation, Like do you vacation to go do.
Speaker 5 (03:09):
That kind of synonymous with each other?
Speaker 4 (03:14):
Really? Uh?
Speaker 5 (03:15):
My vacations are kind of wrapped around the clay pigeons yet,
so we'll take like weekend trips to wherever they are. Like,
there's a lot of shoots going on right now in
Florida for sporting plays. Would you generally go down there?
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Is that because of the temperature, like it's too cold
to do it in PG County right now?
Speaker 5 (03:30):
Yeah? For the big shoots, because I mean we'll have
depending on the shoots. Most general shoots have a couple
hundred shooters, but some of the big regional shoes have thousands.
I think they're six hundred or seven hundred. One of
the shoots this weekend in Florida.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
What is that? Just so I understand, Like when you
say like at one of the shootses, what does that mean?
Speaker 5 (03:50):
So it'll be like a four day tournament. Depending on
the size of the tournament, it could be a week long,
but generally they're like Thursday to Sunday, and they have
some likelimb courses that you can shoot, and then they'll
have like the main events and then some side events. Okay,
and it's over the weekend.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
Okay, Now that makes more sense. I thought you meant like, like,
I don't I don't know if anybody can just go
to the one in PG County. But like I thought,
you meant, like, you know, oh, you can just pick
up and go to wherever. But these are where tournaments
are going on.
Speaker 5 (04:23):
Yeah, I'm kind of both. I mean, we'll accept anybody
in there. Your first shoot is always free for the membership,
and you're still in the in the prize money, just
in a different class because we have different classes and
then but you can. Anybody can go to PG County.
I go out there quite often. But yeah, anybody can go.
But if you want to get into the classification system,
it's twenty whole dollars a year.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
I may do that would be Would I be good
at this?
Speaker 5 (04:54):
It's I don't know. Are you good at the trajectory
and differences and that perception?
Speaker 1 (05:00):
I'm gonna say yes for shooting well, I mean my
depth perception. I mean I don't know how far Thank you, sir.
Speaker 6 (05:07):
When's the last time you fired a gun?
Speaker 4 (05:09):
And did you tell us that you actually have really
bad depth perception?
Speaker 1 (05:14):
No, I can't tell how far away something is.
Speaker 6 (05:18):
Misunderstanding depth perception?
Speaker 1 (05:21):
No, no, like, I don't know. I no, I know,
like we're.
Speaker 4 (05:25):
In you've had trouble like in the past, and a
couple instances come to mind where you're trying to identify
just out in the hallway, how far away something is.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
Oh yeah, yeah, I don't know that, but I.
Speaker 6 (05:36):
Like, you'll reach the door handle and miss all the time.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
That was one day last week, Diane, that was one
day very recent. No, no, like, for example, I don't
know how far Kristen is from me. I don't know
how far it is to where she is. That being said,
I could throw a baseball right to her and hit
her right.
Speaker 4 (05:53):
In the chest's what fifteen feet away?
Speaker 1 (05:56):
Okay, No, but I'm saying I don't need to know
how far that is to throw the ball so it
hits her in the chest. I know not to throw
it beyond her, and I know not to throw it
short of her. But she's stationary. Okay, I'm just saying
I don't. You don't. Depth. Perception is not distance. I
guarantee you need it. No, when the pigeons are.
Speaker 6 (06:19):
Flying out into the air, it's not.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
I just need to be able to see it and
go shoot there and lead it a little bit. Has
Kristen done this?
Speaker 2 (06:27):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (06:27):
I bet she's good at it.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
I bet she's not. Oh, she may throw a ball
at your face the No, no, listen, just just because no,
but just because you're good at putt putt doesn't mean
you're good at golf. No, No, I'm being serious. Wait,
but she is not claying.
Speaker 6 (06:45):
She she's always firing guns hunting.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
Yeah, this is clay. That's put putt and golf. Hi,
Kristin Eliot, you are do you go clay hunting.
Speaker 7 (06:57):
It's been a minute, but yes, we'll do it back home.
I've never gone to a facility.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
Oh, so like you just have like your brother, just
throw a can in the air and you try to
shoot it.
Speaker 7 (07:07):
No, you go and get the ski the clay pigeon
from the fin Feather for outfitters back home in Ohio.
What's it called the fin Feather in fur outfitters?
Speaker 1 (07:16):
You need a sponsorship idea for that? Where is? But
then how do you fire it with a gun? You
mean I understand that, I understand that. How do you
How does how does the pigeon fly?
Speaker 7 (07:29):
You have a tool that you put so there's different types.
There's like a.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
Machine, right, like a pitching machine.
Speaker 7 (07:36):
Yeah, you can consider that, thank you, and you put
the it's it reminds me of it's like a disc.
So it's do you know, like a clay flower pot,
but like the dish at the bottom of it.
Speaker 6 (07:48):
Yeah, to catch the water.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
Yeah, I know what you're talking about.
Speaker 7 (07:51):
Yeah, it's similar to that.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
Yeah. Coastguard Kurt has one of those in his backyard
for me for cigarette butts.
Speaker 6 (07:57):
He's very kind.
Speaker 7 (07:58):
Yeah, but we have the handheld one where you put
the disc in and then launch it.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
So somebody throws it and then another person shoots it. Yes,
how far are they throwing the disc? Fet?
Speaker 7 (08:12):
No, you launch it? Frisbee? You ever gone for uh frothing?
Speaker 1 (08:18):
I'm sorry? Oh isn't that like when your tongue dances?
Speaker 7 (08:22):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (08:22):
That was cold phone? No, I have not, I do. No,
I mean I can throw a frisbee.
Speaker 7 (08:28):
So it's like that, but you're throwing it up out
and you want to do it like different directions. Imagine
that you're shooting a bird.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
Where would this person be standing?
Speaker 7 (08:40):
Who the launcher?
Speaker 1 (08:41):
Yes?
Speaker 7 (08:42):
Often to the side behind you, not like in front
of you.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
Interesting? Okay, all right? Do you think I'd be good
at this?
Speaker 6 (08:49):
No?
Speaker 1 (08:49):
Why over confident?
Speaker 7 (08:53):
Have you shot a gun before? Shotgun?
Speaker 1 (08:55):
Yes? Shotgun?
Speaker 7 (08:57):
Yeah, I've only shut you spun for clipping.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
No, well, I don't know what else I would shoot?
Like a pistol.
Speaker 7 (09:04):
Yeah, yeah, I guess I'd do that, but those would
be I'd assume closer distance than the shotgun.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
You don't know my pistol. Would Diane be good at this?
Speaker 6 (09:14):
No?
Speaker 1 (09:14):
How about Tyler?
Speaker 7 (09:16):
He's never even held a gun before.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
That's not true. That's not true. I had to go
to that one promotion bullets, beers and butts.
Speaker 7 (09:26):
Was it a wooden one, a little toy one?
Speaker 1 (09:31):
It shot a little parachute. No, it was a real
good That was a long time ago. That was a
long time ago. That promotion was different me. I didn't
have children. That was fun though, that was good. Station
hated that. Oh did they hate that? Yeah? I just
remember the station going. You realize somebody could just turn
and just shoot you in the head. I was like,
who's doing that? We're good? They won Oh wonder would
(09:54):
do that?
Speaker 7 (09:55):
We should do this facility. I've never gone to a
facility to do it.
Speaker 4 (09:58):
I think it would be fun. Oh, I think it
would be great. Is fin feather fur where you also
get your knives? Yep?
Speaker 1 (10:05):
They got a lot of stuff on their website. Yeah, oh, flame, flamethrower.
What is the fur like? They have fur jackets like
for coats.
Speaker 7 (10:14):
No, it's like deer pelts. Yeah everything.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
Oh never mind.
Speaker 7 (10:19):
You can go fishing. There's the hunting. They do the
course the.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
So it's like dicks. No, it is not. I don't
see a lot of athleisure where oh hey, wait can
you sign me up? Wait? What's better? The twenty first
or the twenty second of March, because I want to
go for Silent Night. It's a suppressor class.
Speaker 7 (10:44):
You can go.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
Is this a chain or is this a one off?
Speaker 7 (10:48):
It's all started in Ashland, Ohio, and they have a
few different ones now. I think there's one up outside
of Cleveland, and think one closer to Columbus, But Ashland.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
Is that that's where it came from.
Speaker 4 (11:01):
Exactly have you ever been next door to Grandpa's cheese.
Speaker 7 (11:04):
Cheese varn and sweeties varn? Oh, my gosh, it's so good.
Speaker 1 (11:11):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 6 (11:12):
So you go shooting cheese?
Speaker 7 (11:14):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (11:15):
You want to? Can I give you a cheese factoid
that I learned yesterday. Cheese factoid not related to pigeon
or the cheese place. You know who hates cheese and
won't eat it.
Speaker 6 (11:28):
Any kind hates cheese?
Speaker 1 (11:30):
Is this a celebrity?
Speaker 7 (11:31):
Yes, Sidney Sweeney.
Speaker 1 (11:34):
No, No, she's good, she's good, Thomas, she's better Haktua Diane.
I wasn't even gonna say that. No, Bruce Boudreaux len
that yesterday. Yeah, that wasn't on the air of the
Old Cast because I know somebody well, nobody was like
I watched it and he never said that, but yeah,
we were talking off the air and he was like, no,
(11:55):
I don't I don't eat cheese.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
No.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
He was saying the worst part about when he coached
in Canada is he liked poot team but they would
look at him side eye when he would ask for
it without cheese. Yeah, no cheese, and he would it's
just friz and gravy, yeah, essentially, and a lot of
the gravy as and this was Bruce, not me, would
end up on his jacket. All right, where am I going? Christen?
Speaker 4 (12:17):
You are going to Ashland because I have really good
news for you. If you do well at the suppressor
class right afterwards, they're going to be dropping prices and decibels,
big sale on all of their inventory.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
Jesus line two. Hi Elliott in the morning. Yeah, Hi,
who's that Hi?
Speaker 5 (12:43):
Yes, my name is Ashean Colin from Beaver Dams.
Speaker 2 (12:45):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
Yes, and you are familiar with you're familiar with clay shooting,
so yes, so.
Speaker 5 (12:52):
We've actually I've done one at a facility for something
for work before, and we also shoot at home.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
I'm sorry you shoot at your house?
Speaker 7 (13:00):
Yes?
Speaker 6 (13:01):
Yes, behind like our house because we have land.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
Okay, I'm gonna say, you don't.
Speaker 5 (13:07):
No, no, no, God no. We live way past Richmond
in the country.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
So here's what I don't understand. I don't know. Hey,
thank you, ma'am, thank you, thank you. So I was
reading a story about Christy Carlson Romano and I guess
she used to be a Disney star or whatever. That's
not familiar, don't. I don't know who she is. I
don't know who she is. Anyway. She posted pictures of
(13:35):
herself in the hospital. Quote, someone shot me in the
face at Clay Pigeon shooting Range. How is that possible?
Like that's why I'm trying to understand the layout. Yeah,
And she said that, Kristen, when you go shooting, is
it like a bunch of spray that comes out of there?
(13:55):
It depends, thank you? How about with a smile. How
about with a smile? She's got like like I don't
I don't know what it is, but like whatever you're
shooting out of the gun, it's like wedged. It shot
her right under the eye. They can't get it out
because it wedged behind her eye and it's all over
(14:16):
like the rest of her face, Like look at the
picture scroll Look at the picture of her in the hospital.
Speaker 4 (14:22):
Yes, got black eye and welt mark's all over her
foehead and chin.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
So what is the lay up?
Speaker 7 (14:29):
Like?
Speaker 1 (14:29):
How do you how do you get shot like that?
Speaker 4 (14:31):
Did the gunman say that they were not so great
at death perception?
Speaker 1 (14:35):
No? No, But doesn't that make it look like if
she got hiit in the eye like the gun is
facing her?
Speaker 4 (14:41):
But did they was the person rotating across like the
one hundred and eighty degree plane and just completely lost
track of where they were?
Speaker 1 (14:49):
So I'm trying to follow it as it comes up. Right,
what you want to lead it is what you want
to do. I'm telling you.
Speaker 4 (14:55):
I was pretty surprised looking at those photos about what
I I thought was an unsafe setup.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
Wait, where when I saw my friends? Oh when your
friends did it? Well, I don't think this was intentional.
Where was this at a range? But do you have
the name of the range? Hold on? I don't think so.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
Umm.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
Oh, she was in the TV show even Stevens, her husband,
jumped into actions. She was in Austin, Texas. Oh, I
mean that's all I know. Is not gonna get me?
Where am i? Gun line eight sixth Street skee Hi
Elliet in the morning. H yeah, Hi, who's that? Ah?
Speaker 2 (15:40):
This is Pablo. I actually I am here at Prince
Order's County crevit Ski Center. I'm one of the silly
Mantes leader here that works all in this facility and
operates it.
Speaker 1 (15:51):
Dude, your facility, and I feel horrible. I didn't even
know it was out there. If I'm being completely honest
with you, it looks beautiful. No, I'm being serious. It
looks really nice.
Speaker 2 (16:03):
Yeah, no, it is. That is one of the greatest
city specially to be in Maryland and in PG County,
which is amazing.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
How is the how is it possible? Like I've never
I've never done this before, right of total city. I'm
a total city kid. How How would somebody get shot
in the face doing this?
Speaker 2 (16:24):
Uh? Well, my understanding is just negligent on the other party,
probably not knowing what they're doing, moving the gun around,
celebrating too much. A possibly?
Speaker 1 (16:38):
Yeah, well, okay, when I shoot? What am I like?
What kind of gun am I shooting with?
Speaker 2 (16:45):
You're gonna shoot at the twelve gage shotgun? We only
allowed target loads, so small loads like seven and a half,
eight or nine shots. We don't. We don't allow like
short barrows guns because they're just easier wheep for us.
So it could be could be that kind of situation
that happened there. But here. If you want to participate
(17:07):
in this facility, you'd have to take a safety class
that we offer on Saturday Sundays only ten dollars a person.
Oh wow, you do safety course, You shoot with an instructor,
and once you complete the course, you're out and free
to try any of our sports we have.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
What is the what is the like when you say
a twelve gage shotgun? Right? Is that? Yes? Like? Is
there like what is it called? Like the shell that
you put in there? Does it have like a bunch
of bebies in it and stuff? Yes?
Speaker 2 (17:36):
Oh, can you call it a shot? Yes, there has
a bunch of little pelots in there, right.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
So that's what that's what clocked this chick in the face,
this woman in the face.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
Yes, yes, that's what it did. Luckily she appeared to
have some eye protection on, because it just looked it
would have been a lot worse if she didn't have
any eye protection on.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
Sounds like they're open during the winter, though, Oh are
you open right now?
Speaker 2 (18:00):
Yes? Sir, we're open seven days a week.
Speaker 1 (18:02):
I'd like to come back. I want to wait for
the weather to break a little bit though. I want
you and christ Oh, I'd love to go, Kristen, let's go,
let's go. You would go to you guys here, Yeah,
you know what. Hold on, Christian's already writing down your number.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (18:17):
I was going to ask you to hold hey, hold on.
One's say we'll figure it, Diane. You'll do it.
Speaker 6 (18:21):
Yeah, I'll do it, be very good.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
But why would you go in with that attitude?
Speaker 6 (18:26):
I'm just realistic.
Speaker 1 (18:28):
If think about think about like, I.
Speaker 6 (18:32):
Feel like I've had my shining moment in the sun
in the sports world already with the bowling.
Speaker 7 (18:37):
R Oh.
Speaker 6 (18:39):
I need something for twenty twenty four.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
No, no, but think about it. If I said, Diane,
I'm going to run like you're going to stay there,
and I'm going to go from that wall to that one,
and I'm going to run across from I'm going to
run across. Throw the ball to me. Do you think
you would be able to throw it to me from
where you are? Yes? And you would be let me finish, please,
You would be leading me. You'd be like here he comes,
(19:01):
go and it would it would get there. It's like passing.
It's passing a puck to somebody, throwing a ball to somebody.
Basketball you played against the professional basketball.
Speaker 6 (19:11):
Team, another good performance.
Speaker 1 (19:13):
Remember you caught it with your face. That wasn't this year,
but that would be the same as this. It's just leading.
That's all.
Speaker 4 (19:22):
Is over confidence the number one problem most people come
into your facility with.
Speaker 2 (19:27):
Uh, it's more I guess, yeah, yeah, I think you
say over confidence. They see something, they think it's easy,
and you will be amazing the first time you tried
about how good?
Speaker 1 (19:44):
All right, Hey, hold on one secon. We'd love to
come out and see you, but I'm going to tell
you I'm not coming out in the snow like I'm
gonna wait until we warm up a little bit.
Speaker 2 (19:51):
That is not a problem. I don't like the cold neither.
Speaker 1 (19:53):
All right, A good deal
