Speaker 1 (00:00):
How great was that on Friday night?

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Unbelievable, Absolutely unbelievable. It was one of the best atmospheres
I've ever seen in a game. I was comparing it
to uh to the finals of the Four Nations and
that that game was wild itself, but it just had
that that buzz about it when people are standing up
the second Ov steps on the ice, that's pretty dark cool.
I I became a straight up fan for that game,

(00:25):
and it was amazing.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Hey can I can I ask you this?

Speaker 3 (00:27):
I was talking about this, I guess on Monday when
we got back in here, and listen, you're professional athlete,
you played and everything.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
Did you tear up at all watching it happen?

Speaker 2 (00:39):
It's funny. It's funny that you say that. This whole time,
I've just kind of been, you know, I've been along
for the ride, enjoying it, but not getting not getting
overly invested. But I think when I saw when I
saw Ov talking about it after the game and seeing
him get a little bit emotional, I think that's when
it actually hit me right, Because typically hockey players and

(01:03):
a lot of athletes are just so stoic about it,
you know, it's just it's just business, it's another day,
you know, thanks, thank my teammates all blah blah blah.
And to actually see him show the emotion, that's kind
of when it got me, Like, you know, I figured
he cared this much, and now to actually see it
all come out, That's that's when I started getting a

(01:23):
little bit teary eyed, but not a full on cry,
not an ugly cry, but but enough to to really,
you know, sitting on the couch and you want to
turn your face away.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
Yeah, a little a wet eye and a lump in
the throat. Absolutely exactly, yeah, exactly.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
Hey, so does anybody like when you came into the league,
were you like, you know what, I'm going to pass
Gretzky one day?

Speaker 2 (01:46):
Oh yeah, I said, I'm gonna pass Gretzki and have
all of it. Of course, you know, maybe, I don't know,
maybe pass them on more glass and house than they've
ever had. I don't like anyone. I don't think anyone
has that, uh, that idea. I mean, that's that was
just just such a Gretzky set the bar so high.

(02:07):
I think he's, you know, anyone who came after him,
he's their idol, and that's it's just crazy to think
that you can be in the same category as him.
So I, you know, we all knew that Ovi was great.
We knew that he could score a ton of goals,
but to uh, to put put his name in that category, Uh,
it's just it. Look at Sid, we all think Sid
is great too, and uh, and he's he's not anywhere

(02:29):
close to any of any of Gretzky's records like that.
So it was it was just so hard to imagine.
And and the fact that he has scored as many
goals as he has this year at that thirty nine,
that to me is just absolutely crazy when you really
think about it. To have to be that good at
that age, it's just so hard to believe. So no,

(02:50):
I did not know. I didn't even think Ovi could
until maybe a couple of years ago. And you know,
maybe he maybe he thought so, But he's a wild man,
so that would make sense.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
Hey, let me ask you this and then and then
we'll get into the real reason that we're talking to.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
Karlawlsner.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
Do these three numbers mean anything to you? Eight, twelve, twenty.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Eight, twelve, and twenty.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
As it relates as it relates to Alex Ovechkin.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
As it relates to Alex Kovetchkin. Am I involved in
this at all? Or is just Alexovechkin?

Speaker 1 (03:24):
No, No, you're involved in this. You're involved all right.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
My guess is it's primary assists, secondary assist, total assists
on the bingo. Yeah, that's crazy. Honestly, I didn't even
I saw that sheet with the breakdown of everyone who's
assisted on his goals, and I didn't even realize that
I had that many. And I bet if you looked
at them, a majority of them would have been literally

(03:48):
me just shooting the puck out of the zone and
it finds its way to him. I can't tell you, honestly,
how many times he told me. He's just like, if
you see me side by side with the other player's
defense and just throw me the puck and I'll make
something happen. And I'm just like, all right, I can
do that. So I did that many many times.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
It was a cheap code for me.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
So like on a face off where like I think
everybody's game planning and guys are talking, OB's just like, Carl,
throw the puck up the ice.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
I'll do the rest.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
Totally. Yeah, it's like what you do as like a
kid on the playground. It's like, just throw the football
over to me and I'll jump higher and catch it,
and pretty much it. I was like, dude, I can
do that. If you want it tape to tape, it's
going to be harder, but I can throw it in
the air, all right.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
So the real reason that Carl Alsner is calling is
we are getting very close to that time of year,
year two of your charity event swing into summer, which
I remember we talked about it last year, Carl.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
That was a massive success.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
You know what it really was. And we were nervous
as hacked last year just getting it off the ground
and hoping that it would not have any issues, that
people would that the players involved would enjoy it, and
that we would raise some good money for it. And
you know, I had seen it happen before in a
in a different country, different place, and and it worked.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
So we had great.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Intentions and all the players showed up, the majority of
the people who bought tickets showed up, and the results
that we had were it seemed like an overwhelming success.
We had so many people tell us how much fun
they had. The weather was great, and I'll give you
an example of what some of the players said. We had.
We had people, some of the guys that were there

(05:35):
apologized for not being more involved in the stuff leading
up to it, and after the event, some of them
let me know right away they said, please do not
cut me. I want to come back next year. I
promise I'll be better. I'm just like, holy smokes. And
some of them were former professional baseball players that said that,
and so I'm just like, Okay, well, we must have

(05:55):
done something right if people enjoyed themselves that much. The game,
you know, had the right amount of intensity where it
was actually I think fun softball to watch versus just
kind of a novelty. Yeah, it was. It was awesome,
and we raised a ton of money. And so this year,
you know, we it's May thirty first, so it's a
day earlier than than last year. We have a good

(06:18):
chunk of the people from last year that are going
to come back and play. We're just waiting on schedules
for others. Sponsorships were flying off way faster than last year,
so that's great. And it's at the same place, Capital
One Park, So yeah, we're pumped about it. It's it's
super exciting.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
So, like Carl said, it'll take place on May thirty first,
Capital One Park starts at four o'clock.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
It'll run a couple hours.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
It's a celebrity home run derby and celebrity softball game
that takes place. Hey, Carl, who's the Who's who are
we benefiting this year?

Speaker 2 (06:51):
So one of the So we're gonna we try and
help out as many different charities as possible, and this
year we're going to partner with for Children. So I
think probably a few people know about what they do,
but they help support a lot of very deserving charities
in the area. So they have a program called EATS.
It's Early Access to Sports. So just think, you know,

(07:15):
we all talk about multi sport athletes and wanting to develop,
you know, young kids to figure out what sport they
want and get good at all of them. So they
are providing many different sports to schools that need it.
So a school that may not have a program that
offers floor hockey or you know, wrestling, lacrosse, field hockey,

(07:36):
something like that, and they will get them set up
with the gear, with the programming, they'll have someone come
out and run it. I'm going to go to some
of their floor hockey events that they have at different schools.
So we're going to sponsor at least one school. We're
hoping to if we raise enough money with the event,
sponsor more than one. And it's it's to have an

(07:58):
entire program for the for the school year for a
school that needs it. So I think it's a very
very deserving program. We love what Fight for Children does
and uh and along the way, I'm hoping that we
can raise enough money that we can do a couple
other things as well. So it should be a blast.
It's a it's gonna be fun.

Speaker 3 (08:16):
Totally family friendly event. Early bird tickets are on sale now.
Allsnerfoundation dot org is the best place to go to
get all the information on whether it's early bird tickets.
Once those are gone, then we moved to general admission tickets.
And then, like last year, there was this big reveal
or an ongoing like almost daily reveal of athletes.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
Are we going to do this? Like when do I
find out who the rosters are?

Speaker 2 (08:43):
So in the next couple of weeks, we are actually
going to do a draft, So think, uh, think like
old NHL All Star Game when O we wanted to
go last so we could win.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
The win the car.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
That's yes, we're gonna do something similar to that with
the players that we have already confirmed and uh, and
then we'll sign free agents as we go, as soon
as we know that they that they can make it.

Speaker 1 (09:05):
So I'm pretty excited about it.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
We have a couple of new players this year that
that are are huge, huge names in the hockey world,
think Hall of famers that that we're really excited to
have come out, and then uh, and then adding a
couple other pieces. So we're trying to get this game
as competitive as possible so that it's actually fun to watch.
And I do want to mention too, just so everybody knows.

(09:28):
You know, the schedule for people is extremely tough around
that time of year. Tickets are refundable up to I
don't know the exact time, so don't quote me, but
but at least a few days before the event, so
at least grab the tickets and refund them if you
realize you have an event coming up and you can't
make it otherwise, you know, we had people hitting us
up the day of the event panicking because they forgot

(09:50):
to get their tickets and didn't think it would sell out,
so I always just let people know now you know,
secure them and refund them. We'll find someone to give
them to you at the end. So yeah, should it
should It should be fun and we'll reveal the rosters
over the next month and a half.

Speaker 3 (10:03):
Awesome, Awesome. I hope the thing sells out. I hope
you raise a ton of money. Allsner Foundation dot org. Carl,
good to talk to you again. Thank you, my friend
you as.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
Well, Ollieah. Thanks a ton
