Speaker 2 (00:05):
When the talk talk goes on, the talk talk goes off.
Just kidding.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
Welcome to Talk Talk with Martha Quinn. Great to have
you here. Who's Who's You?

Speaker 4 (00:18):
Kind of lost it a minute at the intro. What
is going on?

Speaker 5 (00:23):
Welcome to episode number two hundred and forty three.

Speaker 4 (00:27):
Ladies.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
We'll call it the English muffin episode because that's what
was in my mouth when we started.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
I apologize, she was.

Speaker 4 (00:33):
Trying to get a quick little bite in.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
But oh boo, bo oh boba.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
We'll call it the knooks and Cranny's episode.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
I like that, the buttery goodness.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
In what other situation do you use the phrase knooks
and crannies. It's like, now become just English muffins.

Speaker 5 (00:51):
No, like sometimes when you, oh, when you're cleaning something like, oh,
if you're cleaning your car, the inside of your car,
I'll make sure you get all the knooks and crannies.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
Oh well, that's something I never do, so I would never,
not ever ever two and forty three of Talk Talk
with Martha Quinn. This is the podcast that unites the
morning Drive with Christie Live crew Christy and producer Karina
and the Martha Quinn Show crew. Martha Quinn and Karina.

(01:21):
We are a humble but mighty crew, Los trace Amigas. Christy.
How are you this week?

Speaker 1 (01:28):
I'm doing okay. I'm hanging in there. I'm still trying
to find a place to live. Right now, I'm CouchSurfing,
but it's been fun, you know, just kind of trying
to figure it out.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Are you officially CouchSurfing like on the couch surfing app?

Speaker 1 (01:41):
No, I'm just on my friend Paul's couch, no app necessary.

Speaker 5 (01:46):
After staying at a hotel for a few weeks. But
now she's on the couch, so we're doing good.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
Yeah, where are you looking? Are you looking at any
place in particular?

Speaker 1 (01:57):
I'm looking all over the East Bay, Alameda, Oakland, Emoryville
is a new favorite choice.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
But I am looking and I'm sure i'll find something.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
I just don't want to rush into a lease and
not be someplace where I really want to be, which
is why it's taking me so long to find a
new place after leaving the evil hoa that I was
in before. So I'm happy to be, you know, I'm
happy to be on too the next thing, but I
want to make sure the next thing makes me happy.
So I'm taking my time, and I appreciate that I

(02:27):
have friends who are letting me do that.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Well, isn't Paul the same guy who stepped up for
you when you had your foot issued? Was he the
guy who helped He came over to your house for
a while?

Speaker 2 (02:38):
He lived Paul, He lived with me and took care
of me after the car ran me over.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
Uh huh.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
He was helping me with everything. So yes, same Paul,
same good friend. He's a good guy.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
Paul, You're a good guy, good friend, very good friend.
All right, well, ladies.

Speaker 4 (02:52):
Today's episode.

Speaker 5 (02:54):
I wanted to bring something to both of you guys
that I don't think that you've seen. So we're going
to have a little fun. There is a research in
honor of Dolby Laboratories.

Speaker 4 (03:04):
Is this I can't say that right? Sixtieth anniversary?

Speaker 5 (03:08):
So the research they asked the best movie soundtracks of
all time? And I was really really surprised of this
list because there are a ton of great movie soundtracks
out there. But do you guys want to take a
guess at number one?

Speaker 3 (03:25):
Was this combined by the Dolby people.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
This list.

Speaker 5 (03:29):
No, they did a poll of two thousand people, not
a lot of people, right, so not a lot of people.

Speaker 4 (03:35):
But you know it's still Dolby. They're reputable.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
I'm going to say my guess, my guess for what
they would say is the number one soundtrack of all time,
all time. I'm going to say they said the Sound
of Music.

Speaker 4 (03:51):
Boom No as the number one.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
That's what I said, Karina the best.

Speaker 4 (03:56):
No, but that came in at number.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
I didn't say that was my choice for the number
one on track of all time. I said that's what
I thought the Dolby survey would reveal.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
Well, you'll be wrong.

Speaker 5 (04:06):
The Sound of Music topped in at number five. Okay, okay,
so I stop top five? Okay, okay. Christy, do you
want to take a guess at what's the top movie
soundtrack of all time?

Speaker 4 (04:19):
Or yeah, the Bodyguard number eight?

Speaker 2 (04:23):
On the whole they're.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
Hating on the Bodyguard because really that is the top
selling soundtrack of all time. It is the top selling
movie soundtrack of all time.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
The Bodyguard.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
Second would be Saturday Night Fever with John Travilla's Us.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
What that would be?

Speaker 3 (04:38):
My guess next to Sound of Music for what the
survey revealed is the top movie soundtrack of all time.
I would say if Sound of Music, ain't it Saturday
Night Fever.

Speaker 4 (04:49):
Saturday Night Fever came in at number two.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
Yeah, okay, so number two because it is it is
up there. People love that and it's great music the
Beg's and it is number two when it comes to
actual soundtracks sold, but number one, yeah.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
Can I do want to give us a very not
an easy hint. Don't make it too obvious.

Speaker 5 (05:11):
I would say, it's a family soundtrack, it's a movie.

Speaker 4 (05:17):
I have a feeling that you guys, do you want
me to give you an easy guess?

Speaker 3 (05:23):
I think I have a guess.

Speaker 4 (05:24):
Okay, Okay, Martha, what would you say?

Speaker 3 (05:27):
Is it a cartoon?

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Yes, that's what I was going to say. When you
said family, I was like, maybe it's a cartoon.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
It's a cartoon. Correct?

Speaker 3 (05:34):
Does it take place in Africa?

Speaker 2 (05:36):
It does?

Speaker 3 (05:38):
Okay, Christy, do you have any guesses?

Speaker 2 (05:42):
The Lion King.

Speaker 5 (05:43):
Lion King, Babies and Gentlemen the number one movie soundtrack
wow of all time, according to the Cold According to
Dolby Laboratories.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
So which movie soundtrack because Beyonce just redid the Lion
King soundtrack and so there were a lot of like
they did a live action Lion King and so that
is a soundtrack and that definitely has some different music.
It has some great music like the Elton John Classic
and everything like that, like the original, but done by

(06:16):
different people. So that could have had some you know,
effect on the outcome.

Speaker 4 (06:21):
Oh, I get what you're saying.

Speaker 3 (06:23):
Because it kind of put the Lion King soundtrack in
people's minds.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
Because it's different because Beyonce singing the Lion King versus
you know, random Broadway singers the first time around, you know,
with the exception of Elton John, might push it a
little higher on the list.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
Karna, what were the top five?

Speaker 5 (06:42):
Okay, number one, As you guys said, the Lion King
came in at number two.

Speaker 4 (06:47):
Saturday Night Fever number three.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
Okay, give us a hint as to number three. Don't
don't hurt it out, give us a number three.

Speaker 5 (06:54):
I don't number give us had one main single from
this movie.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
Is it an the cartoon?

Speaker 5 (07:00):
It's not a cartoon. It's a female artist. That actually
probably the reason why this is number three. Flash Dance,
No Christy, you want to guess.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
Of courus line.

Speaker 5 (07:12):
It's a sad movie based on a true story. A
chorus line.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
That's a wonderful, amazing soundtrack that came off very badway
play and turned into a movie.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
Number Number three is Titanic, Oh said the Celene Dion song.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
Yeah, the only thing.

Speaker 5 (07:30):
I remember from Titanic is that Selene Dion's song. It's Selene, okay.
Number four The Greatest Showman give us a hint already.

Speaker 4 (07:40):
Which I can't believe it.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
The Greatest shown That.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
Was a great soundtrack, wasn't it. It is an amazing soundtrack.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
What's on there? Uh, there's a couple of songs, you know, But.

Speaker 4 (07:52):
The movie itself was really good, but.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
The music, believe it or not. So A Million Dreams.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
I play a lot of these songs at weddings. As
a wedding DJ. I do play the Greatest Showman soundtrack songs.
Nevery Enough is a good one, Rewrite the Stars is
a good one, and the Greatest Show and a Million Dreams.
That's four songs. I'm reading them off the soundtrack. But
I do play these songs. I know them because I

(08:21):
play them during weddings for different types of things.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
People use them, so I will.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
Have to go back and watch that movie. I don't
even remember if I saw it. I think I did,
but I don't particularly remember it.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
It's really good and Zendaiya's in it and zac Efron.
It's actually a really great story. Hugh Jackman, Right, Yeah,
it's a great story, and it's a good movie. And
the soundtrack and you know, it's kind of very Mulin Rougie,
lots of you know, movement.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
And singing and dancing and a good story.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
A good movie.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
Yeah, you know, you mentioned zach Efron. You know what
else is a really good soundtrack, Hairspray.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
Oh, both of you named two very good movies with
great soundtracks. And I was just watching because I had
never seen High School Musical and it was on the plane,
and you know sometimes when you're watching movies on the plane,
you'll grab something you haven't seen, and I was like.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
You know what, let me watch this, and it was
actually really good.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
I didn't get to finish it, but I've been thinking
I need to finish that movie.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
It was so good. But both of those are great.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
Martha Quinn, Yeah, have you ever seen Hairspray? Either of you?
The movie?

Speaker 1 (09:25):
Yeah, the movie, the play Good Live on TV on video.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
All of it so good.

Speaker 5 (09:32):
Yeah, because they did because there's the original Hairspray. And
then they did the TV one that you met with
John Travolta too.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
They did a TV one.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
Like I said, They've done it on Broadway, They've done
it on television remake, they did a movie, all of them.

Speaker 2 (09:45):
Seen them all. They're great.

Speaker 3 (09:47):
I cannot believe Coal Miners Daughter is not on there.

Speaker 4 (09:50):
I'm shocked.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
What the heck?

Speaker 3 (09:53):
My all time favorite soundtrack ever is not on the list?

Speaker 2 (09:56):
Has great music, it does well.

Speaker 5 (09:58):
I'll finish going through this list and then okay, I'm
sure you guys are gonna because I'm really surprised something
is not on there.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
Are you gonna say, Purple Rain?

Speaker 4 (10:07):
What is not on the list? Purple Rain is not
on this list? WHOA, I am surprised.

Speaker 5 (10:13):
Number five The Sound of Music the top movie soundtracks
of all time. Number six Top Gun, Star Wars, and
then The Bodyguard pulp Fiction, and number ten The Lord
of the Rings is trilogy.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
You know, I was going to guess Lord of the Rings.
I was going to guess Lord of the Rings because
once again a lot of people use music from that
for weddings.

Speaker 5 (10:35):
You know, I can see that because people also really
like the Game of Thrones music.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
But the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit, like
the Hobbit March or something from Lord of the Rings.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
I've done two weddings this year where people wanted Lord
of the Rings style music. It's very kind of classical
and very whimsical, kind of fairy. It sounds like a
good classical music soundtrack. But video game music, please, and
Lord of the Rings definitely a thing in twenty twenty five.

Speaker 3 (11:02):
Who wrote the music for the Lord of the Rings soundtrack?
Let me ask my bestie question.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
Okay, chat GPT. Howard Shore.

Speaker 3 (11:09):
All right, Howard Shore. Congratulations, yeah, ma'am.

Speaker 2 (11:13):
He composed the scores for Ova Beva I know eighty films.

Speaker 1 (11:20):
He's composed music for Howard Shore yep, most notably the
scores for Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit films.
He also wrote a song called Into the West with
He shared an award with Annie Lennox from the Arythmics
for and He scored all but one of Martin Scorsese

(11:41):
films Oh Wow, Missus, Doubtfire Philadelphia. He scored those the
game The truth about cats and dogs.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
He's got quite the resume.

Speaker 3 (11:51):
And he lives in a we Shire somewhere. Yeah, probably
not such a wee Shire with all of those.

Speaker 4 (12:00):
But Ladies Purple Rain never made the list.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
I can't believe it.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
I was thinking that might be voted number one.

Speaker 4 (12:08):
Now the Lion King. I mean, I do like the
Lion King soundtrack. I really did. Come on, Crea, let
us have some. That's awesome.

Speaker 3 (12:16):
We can't a little bit a coon. Oh that's right,
that's right, just joking, just joking.

Speaker 4 (12:22):
Hack hacko. That's it.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
You at you, bless you.

Speaker 3 (12:27):
K Krina was just sneezing there can hit with a
copyright situation love or something like that.

Speaker 4 (12:35):
I don't know.
