Sunday ninety nine point one, Houston's Best Variety of the
eighties nineties and Today Dana with producer Anthony and the
Three Things You Need to Know to get your Wednesday,
September eighteen started. We're still watching that fire burn and
Deer Park, the pipeline fire that started Monday morning around
ten o'clock after a car hit the cable valve. And
still don't know what condition that driver's in. I mean,

(00:23):
the car flew up in the air before the blast occurred.
And still no word on the condition of that driver.
The owner of the pipeline, Energy Transfer is trying to
extinguish it. Still closures in the area. People evacuated because
of the intense heat. A number has been set up
if you need help with repairs. Eight five five four

(00:44):
to three to zero four four nine one. I mean,
the fire so bright astronauts from the International Space Station
were able to see it from outer space. Astronaut I know,
Don Pettitt shared pictures from the ISS which clearly show
the flames. And that's two undred and fifty four miles
above the Earth's surface. And Houston Mayor John Whittmeyer gave

(01:05):
us first State of the City address yesterday. He said
his best accomplishment to date the agreement with the Houston
Fire Department. He wants to continue to address quality of
life issues like homelessness and weather. Today it's gonna be sunny,
it'll be hot. We'll go up to ninety six and
it's going to feel like triple digit heat. Right now,
it's seventy nine in Uptown and Europe to date, I'm sunny.

(01:29):
Tell me something good brought to us by our friends
at Goodwill Houston Will Shark lovers listen up. Did you
know Gallery Furniture at at Sinco Ranch has up to
a thirty thousand gallon shark tank? What yep? It's filled
with sharks and a whole bunch of other fish too.
So who maintains this incredible shark tank? That would be

(01:50):
Aquarium Design Group. Currently the tank has five bamboo sharks,
two broad banded cat sharks, and fifty other species.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Now I want to go check it out. That's awesome.
Love fish tanks.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
Sean Barnett goes five days a week to check on
the fish. He's been working there since twenty seventeen. He
has been with ADG started out Anthony by volunteering out
at Moody Gardens as a teenager just fell.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
In love with fish.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
Oh, they do residential two and they recommend you get
carpet sharks because they're more docile and they won't.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Eat all your other fish.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
You can get a startup system for about two thousand dollars.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Isn't that crazy? Some to think about? You know, Christmas
is coming, producer Anthony Dane. This is awesome, but not surprising.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Michelin recently honored over four hundred hotels in its first
ever Michelin Key Selection dedicated solely to the US, Mexico
and Canada, and proud to say twenty of them right
here in Texas. Three are in Houston, one in Galvian.
We can check out. These hotels are ordered a Michelin Key.
It's Hotels Aza in Houston, the Museum District Hotels Aza
Memorial City. They say the luxury and field in both

(02:59):
is a draw as well as the amenities. Also earning
a key in the area, the Post Oak Hotel right
here in the Gallery area where they love on their
Swarowsky crystal shandelier in Spaces and down in Galvie check
out the car Mansion off thirty Third Street near Broadway,
where they cite the history and how well preserved, beautifully
updated it is.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
It's awesome to hear maybe.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
Some motivation to check out some of our local hotels,
like a staycation, achieving some of these michelin key status.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
I love that because you know, no plane rides, no
long road trips right here. It's just so much fun.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
Good Now with this Deer Park pipeline fire, so many
sad stories coming out, but I found a good one
featuring Amber Leele and her family.

Speaker 4 (03:38):
Now.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
She was at work and she turned to the TV
and saw the fire. Recognize the neighborhood. She's like, oh
my gosh, that fire is right behind my house. She
contacted her husband. He rushed to save their pets, three
dogs and a cat.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Whoa.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
He got the dogs, put them safely in a crate.
They could not find their cat Cloud. Yesterday, Amber went
back home. They've been staying at a hotel because they
lost power. She went back home to check on the
house and she found Cloud in the spare bedroom.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
Oh my god, I'm so happy. Cloud was doing great.
While some good news.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
And we always have our good news stories, tell me
something good up at Sunday ninety nine dot com, and
you can also follow us on Facebook, ex Twitter, and
TikTok At Sunday ninety nine, Houston Sunday ninety nine point one,
Houston's Best Variety of the eighties, nineties, and Today Dana
with producer Anthony talking about proposals, because in our nearly
Impossible question at six forty, we learned eight percent of

(04:36):
women proposed to their husbands. You know, sometimes that's just
the way it is, right, It's just the way it goes.
And still the majority of times guys are doing it.
But we wanted to find out about your proposal. Was
it magical?

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Was it boring like mine?

Speaker 1 (04:50):
Mine actually didn't even happen, quite frankly, but we love
to hear how you guys got together, and if you
want to share your proposal.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
We'd love to hear from you.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
We have got to Renee, who is calling in from
porter now? Renee, do you have a proposal story you'd
like to share?

Speaker 4 (05:08):
Sort of unusual situation. Mayan now has been we've been
married for twenty four years. We had been discussing marriage
during our dating session, but there wasn't an actual proposal.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
It sounds like me, Renee.

Speaker 4 (05:25):
He unfortunately was diagnosed with CML leukemia.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
Wow, like when you guys were dating, when we were dating.
Wow wow.

Speaker 4 (05:33):
And so he was hospitalized. Doctors are saying, if you
make it through the weekend, you're not going to make
it three weeks. You need to get your final affairs
in order, Renee. And so we had been discussing marriage,
but there will engagement. There was no proposal, right, We
just what we wanted to do, what we needed to do.
We got married. We were in love, but it was

(05:54):
one of those situations. Well, we came up with every
excuse in the world as to why we couldn't get married.
Only is here, business is there. We just didn't put
priorities in order. So when you get a diagnosis of leukemia,
you put your priorities in order.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
Ye, Manne got married. Ah wow.

Speaker 4 (06:13):
A hospital in the hot Ro Hospital downtown, Oh, Renee.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
That's dedication, you know, for better for worse, sickness.

Speaker 4 (06:22):
Or literally in our vowels. We made sure that we
made our vowels so that it was not including till
death do us part right?

Speaker 2 (06:32):
Yeah, yeah, exactly, oh, Renee.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
And I bet the hospital the staff there must have
been so inspired by you and the other patients.

Speaker 4 (06:41):
Was one of those that this is unusual. But hey,
love is love.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
Love is love, all right now? Can I is your husband? Okay?

Speaker 4 (06:50):
Actually he has been remission Sometimes drugs are a good thing.
Gradation and uh no, new technic. He is on a
special medication through m d Anderson Cancer Center. He takes
a pill every other day and he gets on out
of his life.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
That's amazing.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
Renee, I would venture to guess you had a lot
to do with his recovery.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
I just thank you.

Speaker 4 (07:16):
We are a firm believer in the power of positive thinking,
the power of the environment that you're in. Good doctors
and the man upstairs.

Speaker 4 (07:29):
