For weeks, people over on Bolivar Peninsula have been trying
to help the stray dog find a home. Every day,
the dog would head to the ferry boat landing area,
but stray dogs aren't allowed, and a few days ago
the pup decided to go make a swim for it.
A couple was fishing in the bay and saw a
dolphin swimming with what they thought was another dolphin, then
realized it was a dog in the middle of the bay.
They pulled the dog in, took them home, and through
(02:58):
social media they realized they had rescued Bolliver the fairy dog.
And apparently that's a problem dog's being dumped on the
peninsula since they can't return home across the ship channel,
which is super sad.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
But enter Laura and Tim so Tart.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
They immediately took Bolivar to the vet, found to be underweight,
no chip, otherwise pretty healthy though. They gave him a
long bath, introduced him to their other putt, Miss Loretta.
The two got along very well and the family has decided.
Bolliver has found his new home and even more funding.
A Facebook page Bolliver the Wonder Dog has been started
where everyone who's helped him on the Peninsula can keep
up with his progress.

And we've got Christina, who is a special needs teacher
in Pearland.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
What made you feel good this week? Christina?
Speaker 4 (04:52):
They make us laugh every day and it's a really
big joy to get to be there with them. I
did get to meet a student sister that was visiting
from out of state yesterday, so that was a lot
of fun to kind of see them interact.
Speaker 2 (05:06):
How did you even get into this?
Speaker 1 (05:08):
I mean, it's got to be very This is definitely
a job where it's your calling to be working with
special needs kids. It's so much more complicated than just
being a teacher.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
Right can be, but we.
Speaker 4 (05:20):
Definitely have like a teamwork mentality at our school. You know,
we're all in it together. So if any of the
other teachers see a struggludent or if they can offer
any advice, we definitely welcome that. And then we also
try to help them with their own students if they're
ever having any problems or they just need to talk
to us about, you know, what's that's going on, but
(05:41):
that God's interested in pursuing this. When my first teacher
switched to a new school and she needed an aid
and she knew somebody that knew me, and they went
in and they talked to me about it, and that's
how I got hired, and that was kind of the
start of my journey.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
N to know that you made such an impact on
someone that they recommended you for a job.
Speaker 4 (06:03):
Yes, thank you. It's been a lot of fun. I
love my school. I really look forward to it. The
holiday season is always a lot of fun. I've been
thinking about talking to one of my coworkers about really
cool craft we can do well Christine, It's gonna be
a lot of fun.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
I hope that you include the Christmas music station listening
with the kids when you're making crap.
Speaker 4 (06:23):
Yes, ma'am. We have a lot of Christmas music we play,
and last year my coworker was able to let us
play Christmas music and the cafeteria during line when the
students were acting really well and appropriately, and that was
a lot of fun to see them have a scene
along that last week before Christmas break.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
Oh that's awesome, so cool. Well, looking forward to that.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
Well, I'm glad we can bring you guys some joy
and keep up the great work. What a calling you have,
and I'm sure you bring so much joy to those kids.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
Thank you so much. I'll have a great day.
