the trip is back on. This is a trip of
a lifetime. They have been fundraising like crazy. They were
one of five national teams.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
Had some really great news. Texans got their first loss
of the season Week three. They were beaten by the Vikings.
They just couldn't find their rhythm. Final score thirty four
to seven. Week four at Energy Jacksonville at noon on Sunday.
And we're keeping our eyes on what has a ninety
percent chance of developing into a tropical storm Mississippi and Florida.

(00:59):
For us here in Houston, it could mean a possible
cool front lower humidity still a degree of uncertainty. So
this is definitely a weather aware week. Now weather today,
showers possible today, Tomorrow and Wednesday. We're gonna have summer
light conditions on this first week of fall, going to
go up to ninety two, but by Thursday and Friday,
highs maybe in the low mid to upper eighties. Right now,

(01:23):
it's seventy five in Uptown and euro up to date.
I'm sunny. Tell me something good brought to us by
our friends at Goodwill Houston. Well, we learned that last
week that Waltrip High School band was invited to perform
at the Sugar Bowl on January first in New Orleans,
but the district said no, it wasn't safe for them.

(01:44):
So they were so bummed. They had been doing their
fundraising and everything. Well, enter Mayor John Whittmeyer. He said,
you know what, I'm going to provide a chaperone HPD
to keep you guys safe. So now it's back on.
Hopefully that that's slot that they were awarded, you know,
hasn't gone to another team because they were one of
five national teams selected for the trip of a lifetime.

(02:07):
So fundraising is back on for the Roaring ram band
and these are some of the hashtags that they're using.
Support local and marching band and again it's Waltrip High
School Band if you would like to help them out.
Producer Anthony Dane.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
This is so awesome. We know the saying everything is
bigger here in Texas and it always shows this time
of year for homecoming season. There's a Northeast Texas teacher
that took our homecoming mom tradition to another level. Literally,
she built a mom over seventeen feet tall. It was
Frank God. Yeah, it was primary school art teacher Leslie Neuville.
She said she made the project as a gift from
her school to the local high school and said she

(02:43):
actually got the idea from a secretary who said her
hometown did something similar. So she started working on it
and soon it takes on a life of its own.
As her kids were working on their extra activities, that's
when she was putting the work in and she was
mixing cement. Dane. She gets waterproof ribbon zip tized beads
from Hobby Bobby's Christmas section, which by the way, half price,
and by the end of it all, there she was

(03:04):
chilling on a twenty foot ladder, putting on all the
finishing touches, and her work paid off. Not only does
it look amazing, it's currently on display on the wall
of their high school stadium. So great job our teacher
Leslie Newville showing everyone why these homecoming moms are serious
business in Texas. That is his sty It looks amazing,
Lord Well.

Speaker 1 (03:23):

Variety of the eighties, nineties and Today. Dane in the
Morning and producer Anthony, it is seven twenty one, and
we've got a couple of hot days. We might see
some showers going up to ninety two. Right now, it's
seventy five in uptown. Our question, what do you do
when the kids aren't home? Moms? We got lots of moms. Jackie, Robin,
Jennifer says sleep, Marie said Marie and Stephanie said absolutely nothing.

(04:30):
Annabelle says watch horror movies okay, and Doris says, play
music really loud.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
I love that too.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
But we learned in our nearly impossible question that fifty
two percent of moms play more than half games. Yeah,
play video games when the kids aren't around. We're asking
you about moms and video games. And we've got dad
Clayton calling from Rosenberg. And so, Clayton, does your wife
play video games?

Speaker 3 (04:55):
No, she might play candy Crush, but she a teacher.
She's always busy.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
Oh yeah, too busy to play a little candy crush
just to distract you a little bit from the stresses
of the day. What about you, Clayton, Are you a
big video gamer when the kids are either home.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
Or not home?

Speaker 3 (05:12):
I am not I used to play Wee Tenants and
that's about it, or Donkey Kong when I was a kid.
But I haven't I haven't done anything like that in
a long time.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
About your kids, What about the kids.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
I have not bought it that yet. We haven't had
to fight that yet.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Oh so you've got little ones.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
Yeah, I got a nine year old and a five
year old.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
All right, So what's the strategy to keep them focused
on school and away from video games?

Speaker 3 (05:39):
Oh? Boy, you told me.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
It's to learn. That's right.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
Well, Clayton, you're going to have to figure it out.
I let the video game into the house and everything turned.
My world turned upside to over. And to this day,
my husband says, why did you allow that thing into
the house. See, I didn't know. I thought it was
supposed to be fun.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
Yeah. We're trying to take them away from technology as
long as we can possible.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
Yeah, it just Clayton, it just makes life so much easier.
Especially the kids argue over it all the time. Oh
my gosh, the stories we have to They would sell
it back and forth to each other. They would it
was ridiculous. Try to keep your life simple, Clayton, you'll
have much more fun with your kids.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
Okay, all right, thanks for the advice. All right, love you.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
Take care, Thank you for listening. We appreciate you. And
what are your kids' names.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
Uh, Charlotte and Oliver?

Speaker 1 (06:28):
Oh I love those names.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
Names.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
Well, enjoy and thanks again for listening. And you know
we make it possible for the kids to listen. Keep
it totally family friendly for you every day.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
That's true. Thank you so much.
