Speaker 1 (00:02):
Sunday ninety nine point one, Houston's Best Variety, the eighties,
nineties and Today Dana in the Morning and producer Anthony
and the Three Things you Need to Know to get
your Friday your feel good. Friday September twenty seventh started well,
if you're trying to drink your water and you notice
it tastes and smells kind of weird, You're not the
only one. The City of Houston says they've gotten several
reports of this and it is similar to a situation

(00:25):
they had back in twenty twenty one. The city says
it's due to naturally occurring compounds which are harmless but
can cause a musty or earthy taste and odor. City
says add a slice of lemon, use carbon filters, chill
your water, or call three one one. I use the
Epic water filter Pitcher and I love it. It makes

(00:45):
the best water ever. I love it so much. Got
it on Amazon. I think it was like sixty dollars anyway.
Fort Bend County Judge. The booking photo has been released
of Judge KP.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
George.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
It's been arrested after an alleged election scheme involving racist
social media posts. He claims he's innocent and vows he
will not step down. And Helene now a tropical storm
after slamming Florida overnight as a Category four in the
Big Bend area and all around one hundred and forty
mile per hour wins an amazing storm surge, one point

(01:20):
three million without power. One died in Tampa, two others
in Georgia, which is where it is now down to
a tropical storm. And for us here in Houston, just
a beautiful Friday to feel good Friday all week and
long two. We're gonna go up to ninety lower humidity.
It's sixty four now in uptown and you're up to date.
I'm sunny. Tell me something good brought to us by

(01:42):
our friends at Goodwill Houston. Remember this single mom in Tumbull,
Veronica Marin. She was the one who rescued a man
from his car after a tree fell on it during
the May sixteenth storm.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
You know, she left her three kids in the car.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
No one was helping this guy, so she just got
out and unbuckled his seatbelt.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
His name Brian Peterson. Well, he kept thinking about her.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
He found her on Facebook and was like, how help
this woman? Who saved my life. And he found out
through Facebook.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
That little things about her life.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Her home, by the way, was severely damaged from the storm,
so he thought, okay, I'll set up a GoFundMe. Well now, Anthony,
instead of getting her home repaired, Veronica is getting a
brand new home. What Rostin Holmes did it. The co founder,
Jason Pina, says he's so glad that Brian found them

(02:32):
and trusted them to help Veronica on this incredible journey.
And Veronica is so thankful. She said, God is good
all the time. I do this for mister Brian, not
expecting anything. I'm so grateful to God because he put
me in that moment with Brian at that point and day.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Look at how her life turned down. Was that amazing?

Speaker 3 (02:54):
Producer Anthony Dane, this is amazing, but not surprising. Our
food scene continues to get all the love and we've
got yet another Houston area restaurant that's getting praised. See
it was a list put out by the New York Times.
They're giving love to a Seabrook creole restaurant. It's Viola
and Agnes's Neo Soul Cafe and according to the New
York times. The restaurant, which you can find off Nasa

(03:14):
Road one. They say the place has poorse signage but
big flavors and call it a soul food dreamscape suffused
with flavors of the sea, salty snappy links of and
dewey sausage and fat hunts of bone and chicken just
waiting to be discovered as you dig in. It sounds amazing,
So added to the ever growing list of Houston restaurants
to try. It's Neo Soul Cafe out in Seabrook off

(03:35):
Nasa Road one. Maybe some amazing food to go ahead
and try this weekend. That sounds so, doesn't it?

Speaker 4 (03:40):
Though?

Speaker 2 (03:40):
I want all of it, all of it.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
Another fun thing that's happening this week and actually it's
starting today, Houston Zoo Zoo Boo yep open okay through
October thirty. First costumes are encouraged. Car pumpkins abound, There's
a pumpkin tree, there's a themed Peekaboo pumpkin pumpkin lantern
tunnel between the Tigers and the Lions, and the spectacular

five pm. And we always have our tell me something

he's been in since kinder so and he's an eighth grade.

Now, well, well, how did that happen, Ashley? How did
that journey begin? And how is it ending? Like this?
Diagnosed that twenty two months with autism.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
Uh huh. Yeah, he was nonverbal to the age of
four and then we just therapies and help and everything.
He's driving thirteen year old regular or not regular, but
like sassy teenager.

Hayden is totally aware of this change in his life, right, Yeah,
so he gets to go to regular classes from now on.

Bye bye.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
Let's sit over to the Sagemont area and speak with Jerry,
a teacher.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
We wanted to ask you if anything made you feel
good this week or maybe you made someone else.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
Feel good this week on a feel good Friday.

Speaker 4 (05:48):
All on this feel good Friday, I would have to say,
one of my students came up and told me that
they were the happiest when they were at school in
my class. So that made me really good.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
That's huge. Oh my gosh good.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
What do you think it is about the way that
you connect with your kids that makes them feel so happy?

Speaker 4 (06:08):
Well, I just make them come in and just know
that they are loved, that's the first.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
Thing, and it shows. And how long have you been teaching.

Speaker 4 (06:17):
I've been teaching for fifteen years now.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
And did you know that this was your calling or
did you just kind of happen into it and it worked?

Speaker 2 (06:23):
Out.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
It just kind of happened into it.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
That amazing. That's wonderful, Jerry, thank you for sharing.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
You've got some lucky kids that get to experience you
as their teacher. You're the kind of teacher that when
they are adults, they're going to go, you know, I
remember my teacher Jerry all the time.

Speaker 4 (06:40):
Yes, yes, I do, hope, so that's my whole goal.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
That's excellent, Jerry, thanks for sharing. Glad you listened to Sonny.

Speaker 4 (06:46):
You have a great day.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
Thank you.
