Speaker 1 (00:01):
Sunday ninety nine point one Houston's Best Variety of the
eighties nineties and today I'm Dana with producer Anthony and
the Three Things you Need to Know to get your Monday,
last day of September started and we are still watching
and learning more about Hurricane Helene, an apocalyptic event after
slamming Florida on Friday, decimated Asheville, North Carolina thirty inches

(00:27):
of rain. Death toll now passed one hundred, but hundreds
are still unaccounted for, millions without power, roads and bridges destroyed.
We are learning that our Texans made a huge contribution
to help out a million dollars and they would like
you if you'd like to participate, you can join in

(00:47):
the effort to help them out and the address is
Redcross dot org slash NFL. Well, speaking of the Texans,
they did have an exciting game yesterday, beating Jacksonville all
in all CJ. Stroud dominated with an impressive three hundred
and forty five yards thrown no eighteen seconds left in

(01:08):
the fourth carter quarter, he made a clutch play one
yard touchdown and that helped lift the Texans to twenty
four to twenty and the American League Wild Card game.
We know the times now, and we know who the
askers are going to be playing, the Tigers. All three
games at minute made Game one tomorrow at one thirty, two,

(01:29):
Game two Wednesday at one thirty, and game three, if necessary,
on Thursday at one thirty, and you can hear it
all on our sister station, Sports Talk seven ninety. Now
your weather today, it's going to be hot. We could
have a record breaking ninety five degrees for the high. Actually,
it's going to be in the nineties right through next Monday.

(01:50):
Tuesday of next week, we might feel the upper eighties.
And right now feels good. It's sixty eight and uptown
and you're up to date. I'm sunny. Tell me something
good brought to us by our friends at Goodwill Houston.
While giving back is at the heart of who we are.
That's what our Texans said as they announced a one
million dollar donation to Hurricane Helen relief effort, and it's

(02:15):
to be used for immediate and long term aid. If
anyone would like to join in the relief effort with
the Texans, you can check out Redcross dot org. Slash
NFL producer Anthony.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Dane speaking of the Texans. This is so cool.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Houston Texans wide receiver Stefan Diggs has already shown up
on the field showing us all what he can do.
And before this past Sunday's showdown with the Jags at NRG,
he showed what he can do with his arm too.
The Texas posted a video on ex of Stefan during
a pregame warmups and as he was playing catch with
the fans, he comes up to the camera and says, hey,
number five, referring to a fan in the second deck
wearing a Texans number five jersey. Takes a few steps

(02:52):
through proceeds to throw a perfect spiral all the way
to the second deck that the number five fan wearing caught.
As you can imagine Steffan all the fans celebrating. It
was one of those just small, little hype moments for
our Texans and a little bit maybe of strategy building,
because if the team does need a little more help
in the quarterback department, step fun.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
Just could be that guy man that is so cool
and number five Lucky Lucky Texans stand well. The self
proclaimed biggest bar in Texas, the Kirby Ice House, is
opening its fourth location in the Heights. Next year this
location will be not only the biggest but the longest
bar in Texas at one hundred and forty six feet.

(03:32):
The owner, Danny Evans, opened his first Kirby ice house
in twenty sixteen at thirty three thirty three East Side Street,
Upper Kirby. Now there's one in Memorial. That one opened
in twenty twenty and the Woodlands one right by the
Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion opened in twenty twenty two. That
was previously the longest bar in Texas at one hundred

(03:54):
and forty one feet. But wow, bigger one is still
to come in the Heights.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
Is that cool? Always bigger in Texas really is.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
And I noticed that when I was at the Woodlands Pavilion.
I was like, that's a big bar. Yes, it is,
really is.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Hey.

Speaker 1 (04:07):

Speaker 1 (05:43):
If I was using it for being I'd probably take
my family on a on a trip somewhere. If I
