the hurricane. I'm talking Hurricane Helene. The videos unbelievable, all
the damage and the loss of life. And there are
some Houston volunteers now helping in the rescue effort rescuing

hundreds of people in North Carolina. And they're from the
group Crowdsource Rescue, which started here in Houston during Harvey. Unbelievable.
So far, as of yesterday, they have rescued or accounted
for six hundred and nine people in North Carolina. If

founded right here in Houston in the midst of Harvey,

in a flooded, leaky office, and it was like kind
of an organic rescue group. And since they started in Houston,
they have helped connect over thirteen thousand professional and volunteer
rescuers with over fifty thousand people in its mapping and
dispatching technology. They are now in North Carolina, Anthony, and

as of yesterday, Crowdsource Rescue has rescued or accounted for
six hundred and nine people using their incredible technology. They
have been a part of twenty eight huge events hurricanes, floods,
disasters since twenty seventeen. Ninety four thousand people have been
rescued and they're right here on the Katie Freeway. You

their babies.

And that is a better name.

We learn this in our Nearly Impossible Question, And we
wanted to ask you your name story because we meet
so many people on Sunny and I'm always interested in
the these curious, interesting, beautiful, unique names. And sometimes there's
an amazing story and sometimes there's not. Anthony was named
after his grandpa, Tony. Was it Tony or Anthony Antonio?

That's right.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
And I wasn't named after a girl. I was named
after a boy.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
And why my dad chose to do I'm He's like,
why did you think that was a good idea?

Speaker 3 (04:23):
Dad?

Speaker 1 (04:23):
I mean, because I guess he thought he was gonna
have a boy, so he already had the name Dana
already there.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
And I became a girl, and it was so ready.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
To go and it's kind of a gender neutral name,
so whatever, And we're asking you your name story. Now
we've got Karen calling it in from Webster and you
work at NASA.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
Are you like an astronaut?

Speaker 2 (04:43):
Karen? What's your name story?

Speaker 5 (04:44):
When I was growing up in grade school, all it
was really popular for kids to have me. My best
friend for beta, her name was Becky, and there were
all these other kids nicknames. But I didn't have a nickname,
and I wanted one because I felt left out. So
I that friend and I decided that the quake, well,
I went home and I told my mom and she goes, no,

your name is not k it is Karen and it
will stay Karen. And I'm like, okay, all right. You know.
So when I went to college, my boyfriend gave me
the name KK, and that KK I like that thing,
like I worked with the woman one time and she said, well,

(05:26):
what is it? What does it stand for? And I'm like,
it doesn't stand for anything, it's just KK. And she goes, well,
my name is Karen Craig and she goes, so they
called me KK, and so you should stand for something.
I'm really sorry that.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
It just stands for joy. For you because you like it.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
I was gonna say it doesn't need to do I do.

Speaker 5 (05:49):
I like it. And even though even though my boyfriend
who became my husband and it's all my ex husband
gave me the name, I still keep that. I still
keep KK because I like it.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
Well, then, Karen, we are forever going to be calling
you KK.
