Speaker 1 (00:02):
Sunday ninety nine point one Houston's Best Variety of the eighties, nineties,
and Today Dana in the Morning and producer Anthony in
the Three Things You Need to Know to get your Monday,
October seventh started well. Centerpoint Energy the focus of an
hour's long meeting before the Texas Public Utility Commission on Saturday,
and it was all about Center Point's slow response to

(00:24):
Hurricane Barrel in July. Now at least twenty died during
because of Beryl, and many due to heat exhaustion twelve
days in the heat with no power. Some are calling
for the CEO, Jason Wells to resign, including Lieutenant Governor
Dan Patrick Well. Flight travel disrupted towards Florida not going
to happen because they're getting ready for another category form

(00:48):
for Hurricane Milton, expected to slam the same spots as
Hurricane Helene did. Storm surges could be even worse though
this time. Milton is expected to make land fall as
a category four Wednesday morning. And if you plan on voting,
you gotta get her done. You got to register. Today
is the final day to register to vote, lots to

(01:09):
vote for president, Vice president, US Senator congressional and state reps.
Also several judicial races, and you can get all the
details vote Texas dot gov. Now weather today. Yesterday it
was a record setting day. No, yesterday it tied the
record set back in nineteen twenty eight, ninety five degrees. Today,

(01:30):
what did I say. No, yesterday was ninety four. Today's
ninety three. Okay, but it's still supposed to be record breaking,
very hot for October seventh, and then it cools off.
Tomorrow's when the cool front comes. Right now, it's seventy
two and uptown and you're up to date on sunny.
Tell me something good brought to us by our friends
at Goodwill Houston. Well, I love Katie and I love

(01:51):
that the Katie community came together to honor fourteen year
old Logan Dark, a freshman at Sinco Ranch High School.
He was passionate for fishing and football. Life was cut
short he was hit while riding his bike. He was
at a non operational crossing. The lights didn't work. The
event that they held over the weekend was for family

(02:11):
in the community to raise awareness and honor his memory,
but to raise awareness for pedestrian road safety. Now, it's
really cool that Polcat Cycles organized the ride for Logan,
they loved him so much, and Melissa Simms with ghost Bike.
She and her husband also set up a ghost bike

(02:32):
at that location. The Logan Dark Memorial Scholarship at Single
Ranch has also been formed in Logan's honor. I mean,
this was a guy who impacted so many lives. Since
his passing thirteen months ago, you know, there's already been
major progress at crossing areas in Katie. They'd been updated,
revamped with red high intensity activated crosswalk signs. So he

(02:56):
did not die in vain, but still so powerful. What
his life meant to so many people, And I'm glad
Katie came together for him.

Speaker 2 (03:03):

Eight is seventy one now, and we have got a
hot day on Dana with producer Anthony Houston's Best Variety
of the eighties, nineties and today ols on the way
temperatures in the fifties. What do you think not all day,
just in the mornings, and then it'll go up into
the eighties. But today we've got to get through a
high of ninety three real sunny right now, seventy two
in uptown. We have learned in our nearly impossible question

(04:55):
a third of women find guys who play the piano
very sexy. And it kind of got us on this
path of musical instruments. You know, saxophone was always like
this sexy instrument for guys, and we're asking you about
what you find sexy. Now we've got a guy on
the phone, John calling in from friends with now a
third of women, John say that playing the piano is sexy.

(05:18):
And you play the piano.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
I dabble, but I'm not great.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
Oh that all the time. Mark, our boss says the
same thing. I dabbled, but I'm not very actually amazing. Seriously,
when did you start playing the piano?

Speaker 3 (05:30):
I mean I've tinkered with it ever since I was
a kid, but I never really took lessons. My brother
was really good and he uh, he never took lessons either.
He just learned by ear, but he became pretty proficient.
I never really got into it as much as he did.
But I can play a couple of tunes, but not
very well.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
All right, what tunes can you play? John, Julie Joel?

Speaker 3 (05:52):
John? You'd have to add no, no, see, y'all are
getting way too for you know, like you know, your
traditional fair like the Chopsticks. At one point I was
able to do the Star Spangled Banner kind of sloppily,
but wow, Ruby Tuesday by the Rolling Stones. I mean
just not not very well.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
John, So be able to play well enough to get
your wife attracted to you?

Speaker 3 (06:17):
Though? Right, it wasn't because the piano.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
Okay, okay, Well tell us about your brother, Like, is
he playing with a group or something or in a symphony?

Speaker 3 (06:26):
Well, he did, he had his own band. He's actually
put out a couple of independent albums, but you know,
he's now like an art teacher at a at a school,
in elementary school, and he's really good at that as well.
He's very, very very creative.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
Extremely John ends up being the assistant principal. His brother
also in education. Well, we have to thank your parents
for teaching you guys so well and then sharing your
talents with kids. We really appreciate that.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
Well, it's our pleasure. It's a joy to do. And
I love education and I know my brother does as well.
What we're where, we're meant to be.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
Absolutely well, John, thank you so much for sharing, and
we appreciate you listening to Sonny and I hope you
know that.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
Oh, thank you.
