Speaker 1 (00:02):
Sunday ninety nine point one, Houston's Best Variety of the
eighties nineties, and Today Dana in the Morning and producer
Anthony in the Three Things You Need to Know to
get your Tuesday, October eighth started well. Our governor is
deploying resources to Florida big time. Also, resources from Texas
have been deployed to Tennessee to help with Hurricane Helene.

(00:22):
There Texas A and M Engineer Extension Service. They're going
to be out there. Task Force one headed to Florida.
Soft wall excuse me, swift water rescue boat squads, search
and rescue personnel leaving Texas heading to Florida in a
storm that could become Anthony. They're trying to get it
designated a Category six one hundred and eighty mile per

(00:44):
hour wins. The governor is urging mandatory evacuations, saying this
storm surge could be unsurvivable.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
And I even asked you, I'm like, I didn't even
know there was a Cat six.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
Unbelievable, So landfall tomorrow. Airport all over, major airports are closed,
and the governor is working hard to get massive amounts
of fuel into the area, kind of like a staging area,
I guess seriously to help with the recovery efforts after
the storm hits. Meanwhile, closer to home, parents at sci
Fair ISD they have had it.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
They're demanding the return of bus routes.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Eighty bus routes were eliminated because of budget cuts and
three students last week hit by vehicles as they tried
to get to school. Now the district SI Fhair says
they are looking into the situation. Whether here today it's calm,
it's going to be lower humidity, sunny. We're going up
to eighty eight right now, seventy in uptown and eure

(01:42):
up to date on sunny. Tell me something good brought
to us by our friends at Goodwill Houston. Well, Hello
Kitty is coming to Houston, YEP.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
This weekend.

Speaker 1 (01:51):

new swag, is going to actually be out in sugar

until seven pm right near the Pottery Born right near
barn I love that location.

you want to follow them, the next stop for this
Hello Kitty Cafe is going to be October nineteenth in Austin.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
Producer Anthony Dan.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
This is awesome some history being made over at Austin
City Limits. There's a group that took the stage over
at Austin's biggest festival and they're all UT students. It's
the indie rock band West twenty second. They're named after
their apartment they started jamming in back in twenty twenty two,
and it's history because aclfest has never featured a band
completely made up of current UT students on its lineup.
It is twenty two years. One of their members says,

(02:57):
they played fifty five shows in Austin last year. The
band's already ventured across country with gigs in Houston, La Denver, Atlanta,
even selling out some of those venues, and one of
their first singles hitting nearly two million streaming plays. They
made their history making performance at the Tito's tenth this
past Sunday at acl They had a packed crowd in
attendancy in the group plans to keep the band going

(03:18):
after four the five members graduate in the spring of
twenty twenty five. More good things coming from a band
right here out of Austin. Keep an ear out for
West twenty second, a local Texas band looking to take
their music nationwide.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
And Anthony I was watching them on YouTube.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
They are all about fund They brings the energy, super
good looking too. Anyway, can we talk about the positive
changes at hisd's Fleming Middle School. It's like a miracle
and we have to thank the parents for their involvement
that has mattered so much to the improvement of this school.
The principal, Devin Adams says last year the open house,

(03:53):
the parent turnout was abysmal.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
This year, so.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
Many parents showed up as a matter of fact, the
largest turnout in years. He says he is really really
proud of not just his students, but their parents as well.
Herental engagement is key. That's where it's sirts night and
we've always got our tell me something good stories by

at Sunday ninety nine Easton Sunday ninety nine point one,
Houston's Best Variety of the eighties nineties. And today I'm
Dana with producer Anthony and we're talking about being pregnant.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
Our nearly impossible question.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Seventy percent of women crave not chose while they're pregnant,
and I thought that was kind of interesting.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
I was looking back over the years.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
I was like a noodle and butter and ketchup kind
of girl until I got pregnant with my fourth child,
and it was Shipley donuts with the chocolate filling. Oh
my god, I couldn't get enough of them. My mom
saw a picture of me and she's like, who are you.
I said, I'm a pregnant mom who eats lots of donuts.
I looked totally different, But then there was the whole
chicken from Walmart and the collar bread and the mayonnaise.

(05:01):
I guess it's what our body needs when we're pregnant.
The chemical changes to grow that precious little baby inside,
and we are determined to get what we need so
that baby is nice and healthy. And we're asking you
about your cravings I mean, was it nachos. I don't
remember sweets other than chocolate icing. I was just a

(05:21):
chocolate chocolate person. Didn't want the cake, just wanted the
chocolate and that creaminess. I craved textures too, asking you
what you're craving. Now we've got Diana calling in from
spring a teacher. Now, what were your cravings?

Speaker 3 (05:35):
Diana?

Speaker 4 (05:35):
Baked potatoes?

Speaker 3 (05:37):
Baked potatoes? Right?

Speaker 1 (05:38):
Were they loaded with maybe some pork and cheese, sour cream?

Speaker 4 (05:43):
It didn't matter what was in it, as long as
they were covered with.

Speaker 5 (05:46):
Salce on the outside.

Speaker 4 (05:47):
Oh, I have a maked potato at least every day.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
That's now? Was that for every single baby?

Speaker 1 (05:54):
That was?

Speaker 5 (05:55):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (05:55):
That was at least for three of them. Wow, that
I actively remember. You know, it becomes a blur after
you have so many.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
Oh I know, just throw another one in the mix.
It doesn't matter. But Diana, now, so what you had
baked potatoes? I guess they can be kind of bland,
you know, as long as you get the salt on
there and the texture was good. Sure did you go
did you make them at home or did you have
to go to a favorite restaurant to get there?

Speaker 4 (06:18):
Well? I used to go to my favorite restaurant. But
then I did a coffeecat recipe and after that it
was all at home.

Speaker 3 (06:23):
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 4 (06:24):
And I would just make it for the week ahead
and just eat them like an apple.

Speaker 5 (06:28):
So it was awful.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
Well, I guess I always say that your body needed
something in a potatoted.

Speaker 4 (06:34):
Some iodine, or needed something that you you.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
Know, all right, what did you hate to eat like
it just made you nauseous? Oh, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (06:43):
I can't think of anything. No food was a huge
comfort to me. There was nothing that was turned off.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
Heck, yeah, I should love everything. Joyfully pregnant mama right there.

Speaker 4 (06:54):
That's why I kept happening. It was. It was a great,
great time in my life.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
Oh that is excellent, Diana. You're a blessed mom. Thank
you for sharing. Thank you so much.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
Let's sit over to report and speak with Norma, a buyer.

Speaker 5 (07:06):
I had two very different because one I had to
have Coco Crispies for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So good, okay,
I had that for three days straight and then I
was said I was good. Another very different one was
I was living in Malaysia at the time and I
craved to mama's. Oh my gosh, how are you going

(07:27):
to get Tammas in Malaysia?

Speaker 3 (07:30):
Gosh? Wow, you had to always on that hunt. You
had to call your friends.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
I was just gonna say, you had to call your
friends in Houston and have them mail them to you.

Speaker 5 (07:41):
It would have been nice, but it just took too
long and would if they wouldn't have done right.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
How many kids do you have? I just have one?

Speaker 1 (07:50):
Oh, fantastic and uh boy, girl, what's his or her name? Boy?

Speaker 5 (07:55):
His name is Daniel and he's twenty four years old.

Speaker 3 (07:59):
Dan Daniel love eating cereal?

Speaker 5 (08:02):
He does, and they have to be cooked chalking.

Speaker 3 (08:06):
How about Tamali's Omalie.

Speaker 4 (08:08):
He's not a fan, but I wish I did find him.

Speaker 5 (08:11):
I did well not find him. I found all the
ingredients that made it myself, of course, out of banana
leaves and not the corn hust But they tasted good
every bite that I took.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
That was.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
Good. Story, Norma, thank you? Sure? And so you made
it from Malaysia back to Houston. How did you find Sonny?

Speaker 4 (08:31):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (08:31):
I was born and raised in Houston.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
I've listened to you guys.

Speaker 4 (08:34):
All my life.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
That is normal.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
Well, We're glad that you and Daniel listen, and thank
you so much for sharing.

Speaker 5 (08:41):
Thank you, You'll have a goodness
