Speaker 1 (00:02):
Sunday ninety nine point one Houston's Best Variety of the
eighties nineties, and today Dana in the Morning and producer
Anthony and I've got the Three Things you need to
Know to get your feel good. Friday, November first started, well,
it started out as a treat. I mean, the Texans
get a prime time Halloween game last night. They start
(00:22):
out beating the Jets seven to nothing. They come back
after halftime. That's when we got tricked. Yep, the Jets stormback,
winning the game twenty one to thirteen. Well, today, November one,
early voting ends, and there's been some conflict with the
prisoners voting in Harris County. Apparently they're voting with a
wristband that has their birthdate on it. State Senator Paul
(00:44):
Bettencourt saying that is not one of the seven forms
of ID under the Texas Election Code and it is illegal.
Election Day, by the way, is on Tuesday, and back
to standard time this weekend. We fall back an hour
Saturday night into Sunday. We get early sunrises, earlier sunsets too.
But as I've been telling Anthony, I kind of like
(01:05):
it because it means more cuddle time. Right when I
was gonna say that, and you start thinking more about
Christmas Duo, which is always a good.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
Weather today, Yep, it's gonna feel good. We do have
a thirty percent chance of rain. We're going to go
up to eighty two right now, seventy in Uptown and
you're up to date on sunny. Tell me something good
brought to us by our friends at Goodwill Houston. It's
called Operation Help Shirley. It's a heartwarming story, a show
of kindness out in Spring, a neighborhood out there rallying
(01:38):
around Shirley. She's a Baskin Robbins employee. She works at
the Stubner Airline location, and she was sharing with a
customer that she took a job to pay for groceries
for her family. Now, that customer known as Tattoo Frank,
he came in on his motorcycle. He was feeling a
little down, says ice cream always picks him up and
makes him feel good. So he got a five dollar
(02:01):
ice cream, gave Shirley a five dollar tip. Well, she
starts crying. He inquires, like, what is wrong? What is
going on in your life? And he finds out her
incredible story and so then he goes to social media
asking the community for help. Operation Helped Shirley was born
and his social media blew up people offering everything to
(02:23):
help Shirley. Supplies, cash, salon services, and the people that
came to that Studenter Airline bask in Robin's location. Literally
they are around the block. And if you want to
go out and Operation Helps Shirley, it's at sixteen eight
thirty six Studenter Airline for a little ice cream or
a field good Friday. I love that idea, right, Producer
(02:46):
Anthony Dane.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
This is so sweet.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
All year round, there's a bus driver out in Needville
that likes going the extra mile for her kids. It's
driver Joyce Yanda, and in the lead up to Halloween,
she was conjuring up all ideas to make Halloween fun,
decorating her bus, featuring herself in plenty of different costume
costumes and as you can imagine, this is quite a
few hours on Joyce's own time, but it's all to
make the kids ride to and from school a trip
(03:09):
to remember. She says that the payoff for her efforts
is worth tenfold, and it's not just the holiday.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
She goes all out.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
She did the Neville Little League when they went to
the World Series, but doing birthdays. In fact, she's got
a TikTok where she features all of this dedicated to
making the kids day and on every occasion she still
tries to one up herself, just like you, Dane. If
you want to follow her journey, you can find her
on TikTok at Yellow School Bus eighteen see her efforts
to make the best bus ride for our kids.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
Oh, I'm gonna check her out for real Ville. I
love this and I love seeing the pilgrimage to Galveston. Yes,
this weekend it's the Lone Star Rally. This is the
largest four day motorcycle rally in North America. Four hundred
thousand people expected there one hundred and fifty thousand motorcycles.
(03:54):
There's gonna be forty musical acts performing all weekend long Tonight,
it's the tribute band Lone Star Skinnered and there's gonna
be a custom bike show, rodeo games. Should be a
lot of fun. The Lone Star Rally is headed to
Galveston and we always have our tell Me Something Good
stories up at Sunday ninety nine dot com and you
can follow us on Facebook, ex Twitter and TikTok at

Sunday ninety nine Sunday ninety nine point one, Houston's Best
variety of the eighties, nineties and Today, and I'm Dana
with producer Anthony on the first day of November. It's
a feel Good Friday, talking about feel good things that
happened to us. And this week, maybe you made someone
feel good or they made you feel good. We'd love
to hear your stories. We've got Rose calling in from
(04:39):
Tomball and educator Rose. What's it for you? A feel
good story?
Speaker 3 (04:43):
Yes? Actually, I volunteered at my grandson's school. I participate
as I'm not the classroom moms, but I'm the classroom grandma.
And yes, it does make me feel really good about,
you know, everything in general. It takes all by blues
away if I'm ever feeling sad and stuff to do something,
you know, for others and to put smiles on, you know,
(05:05):
especially kids' faces. But my grandson was so excited that
I was there to help out and do some stuff
for his class and his classmates that he got to see.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
I wow. I bet when you walk in, he's like
she's here and telling all his friends about you.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
Yes, yes, he does. He's a good kid. It is.
It is stress, really weird. It definitely changes the mood
and stuff.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
It just changes everything. Rose, thank you for sharing that.
I bet we could even go so far as to
say it's scientific proof, right, yeah, it helps our endorphins. Well, Rose,
you have an excellent, excellent day. And hey, listen, do
you have any big plans for November twenty twenty four
So far.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
I don't. My hope is to go see the Nutcracker Ballet.
I missed it last year and I think I think
they start in November, so I was just one of
my one of my things for the holidays.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
Excellent, Halloween's over, it's already thinking about the holidays, Thanksgiving
and Christmas. Rose, enjoy and thanks so much for sharing
with us here on Sunny
Speaker 3 (06:08):
No problem, thank you have to stick around.
