Anthony with the three Things you need to Know to
get your Monday, November fourth started. Well, tomorrow is election day,

Fort Bend, Harrison, Liberty. You can vote at any polling
location within your county, but Montgomery and Waller Counties you've
got to vote at your assigned precinct. Polls will be
open from seven until seven and those in line at
the time polls closed tomorrow night will be allowed to
cast your ballot. Well, good news for number two Astros
who is now a free agent, Alex Bregman. He's got
(00:44):
a new baby on the way and he's won his
first ever Gold Glove Award. He is the second third
baseman in the Astros history to win this award. It
was created in nineteen fifty seven to highlight the incredible
excellence in the defensive players in the MLB, and last
(01:05):
week the Aggies beat LSU. It was an amazing game.
This weekend a whole different story. They fall out of
the ap top ten after losing to South Carolina forty
four to twenty. Whoa ouch your weather today? Well, we've
had some rain, then we're gonna clear up a little bit.
Then we're gonna have some more rain showers all day
(01:26):
to day. But tonight gusty wins, more heavy rain moving
in right through tomorrow morning. We're gonna go up to
eighty five right now, seventy five in Uptown and Europe
to day on Sunday ninety nine point one. Tell me
something good brought to us by our friends at Goodwill Houston.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
That Richmond apartment fire was devastating. It happened October twenty fourth.
Some forty families were displaced, but one family really struggling,
Manny and his seven month pregnant wife, Ophelia. They were
able to grab their pets and get out. They lost everything,
but the community support has been amazing. There is this
(02:04):
big barbecue benefit to help raise money for them. People
brought all kinds of baby supplies. What stranger who came
out to help, his name Lewis Mangana says, you know,
he's just wanted to lend a hand to this couple.
He felt so badly for them, and he just wanted
to see if he could help out. So so many
other strangers did the same and it always just makes
(02:26):
you feel so good when the community comes out right
a family in need. Producer Anthony Dan.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
This is always exciting.
Speaker 4 (02:31):
This past Thursday, our Houston Zoo announced it recently welcomed
a four and a half year old, four hundred and
seventy seven pound a male pygmy hippopotamus wow named a Kobe.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
The hippo moved to Htown all the way.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
From San Francisco as part of a breeding recommendation from
the Association of Zoo's An Aquarium Species Survival Plan program
was born in the San Diego Zoo back in April
twenty twenty, and this pigmy hippo is one of two
species belonging to a special family of hippos. There's several
key differences between the pigmy and regular hippo, most notably
the size. The pigney hippo is much smaller, weighing between
(03:05):
four and six hundred pounds standing about three to five
feet tall, while the common hippo weighs three to four
thousand pounds. Bigey Hippos are known be more solitary terrestrial,
spending time on land rather than water, and contrary to
its cousin, the common hippo is a social animal, living
in groups called pods. Another reason to go visit our
amazing Houston Zoo.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
And I'm just imagining someone at the Houston Zoo said
all I want for Christmas is the hippopotamus. Yeah, what happened? Actually,
and they got it. And listen for all you political junkies.
With Election Day tomorrow inside the Baker Institute at Rice University,
you can see the evolution of American politics right before
your eyes. Carol Denzenberg donated her husband's collection of political
(03:48):
campaign buttons so they could be shared for future generations.
His collection started in nineteen sixty when he was in
New York City. Someone came up and gave him a
button for the mayoral elections. And now more than nine
hundred buttons later, he's collected buttons that go back to
nineteen hundred. It has become the largest political button collection.
Speaker 3 (04:12):
In the US. Super did We're cool? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (04:15):

Speaker 3 (04:30):
And today we.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
Learned the story of a happily married couple that the
wife has decided she is going to ban romance if
her husband votes a certain way. Obviously not the way
she's going to vote. And I just thought, man, politics
and conflict. We also learned in our nearly impossible question
this morning that thirty five percent.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
Was a gen z.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
They quit their job because of politics. Yep, And I thought, man,
that is that's just terrible. We've got election day tomorrow.
How do you resolve political conflict? And we're asking you
and we have got Cheryl calling in from the med Center.
Now you and your husband have a political conflict strategy?
Speaker 5 (05:10):
Well, my husband and I disagreed on some of the politics,
more at the local level than at the national.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
Okay, we came to.
Speaker 5 (05:20):
An agreement many years ago that there were other things
that we had very much in common, and we loved
each other and we weren't going to let a political
difference come between us. So we just decided that inside
the front door. Politics was not allowed.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
The door. WI couple not lowed so good though it
really is.
Speaker 5 (05:48):
And when we had people over to the house, if
we knew there was a political difference, we'd say, there's
the front porch and there's a chair at a table.
Feel free to sit out there and have your discussion.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
Excellent genius.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
You are changing lives really as you speak, because people
are listening to you right now and they're totally gonna
use your ideas.
Speaker 5 (06:08):
Thank you, y'all, take care of y'all, have a great show.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
Right to sit over to Cyprus and speak with Brenda.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
Have you come across any kind of conflict where politics
is concerned, maybe in your family or at the workplace?
Speaker 6 (06:21):
And I don't talk politics, but like my best friend
absolutely is totally polar opposite of me and her whole family,
and I just want to cringe when I hear her.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
Wow. So what do you do give us?
Speaker 1 (06:40):
Give us some tips because we are entering you know
tomorrow is it's not over tomorrow, right, So what kind
of advice do you give to stay calm?
Speaker 2 (06:48):
Okay, well this happened four years ago. To politics. I
pray a lot, I just I don't hang around her
a lot during politics. That's sad.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
You know.
Speaker 6 (07:00):
It's like during COVID when people had different opinions right right,
and I had a.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
Very strong one and she was more like, it's not
gonna hurt you, and I was like, oh my god,
the world's gonna end. You know, I didn't hang around
her very often, and that was sad. I thought, yeah,
because you know, two different Republicans and Democrats differently.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
Is there have you actually confronted her or is it
best to just not say anything and just go away
for a while?
Speaker 3 (07:34):
So like, go away?
Speaker 1 (07:37):
Well, you're a wise lady because I've got a big
mouth and I speak up and maybe I offend people,
but your your approach is probably a lot wiser, right.
Speaker 5 (07:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
Yeah, Well hopefully Brenda, you and I could still be friends.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
I'll speak up, you'll go away, and then we'll come
back after the election's over.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
See, I have other very good friends that have the
same view since her, and we can talk about it. Her.
Speaker 3 (08:04):
No, I know the way some people are. You know,
you just have to know that's right.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
Well, Brenda, wait, listen, you know we don't talk politics
here on Sunday, so we we don't want you.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
To go away.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
Okay no, no, I listen to you guys all the time.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
You're the best.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
Brenda, thank you and have a great day.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
