from domestic violence back in twenty eleven in New Orleans, East.
I put my dreams of going to college on hold

(03:06):
and having my own daycare and definitely to help my
parents raise her five kids. And now I'm a single
mom of two kids on my own, and it's been
very hard to buy things for them. I haven't bought
anything for myself in years. I just want to feel
more than a mom slash auntie. I want to make
my kids and everyone smile, but also myself. I would
love to go on a shopping spree. I have never

(03:27):
done that day. Anything would make me happy. I hold
the weight of the family on my back, thanking you
in advance. Wow, well, Giovanni Williams, you Christmas wish has
been granted.

interest as well. It might peak our passion. We've got

(05:17):
Kara calling in from Sugarland. Kara, what do you like
to do on Giving Tuesday? I don't.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
I have.

Speaker 4 (05:23):
Mine's a little bit different. I like going into places
that I like to shop at and buy gift cards
and just handing to random people and say Merry Christmas.
And surprise them for the day.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Oh that's awesome. Love that. That is such a great idea.
What gift cards you buy just like a generic one.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
Or there's a place in Cyprus outlets and open called
simply the Vine, and they are adorable set there and
I bought a gift card there for fifteen dollars. You
gave us to someone random that I was at the register,
or I was at another place at Target and bought
a Starbucks gift card instead. Someone Merry Christmas. So that's
kind of a little bit unique and different.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
That's huge.

Speaker 5 (05:58):
Care.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
I one time did something with ht B and they
gave me like one hundred dollars hib gift cards to
just find anyone in the store and bless them with
one hundred dollars gift card.

Speaker 4 (06:11):
Well, much smaller, but it's but it's put a smile
on their face. And that's the way the world is today.
That's all that matters.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
It's still something careful. Oh, care that is I'm going
to check that box.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
That's a great idea, gift cards to random people who
could use a little uplifting.

Speaker 4 (06:27):
Wow today, Merry Christmas, Dana, thank you both for always
being there as part of our family on the radio,
and you know sometimes that we don't have the correct family,
but we have utile and you put all on our face.
God's bless and right Christmas.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
God, Kara, thank you got Aaron and Richmond. What's it
for you? Aaron? Do you have a passion that you
like to donate to?

Speaker 1 (06:48):
I do.

Speaker 5 (06:48):
Actually it's one that I'm personally involved with. It's a
nonprofit that sponsors South Sudanese orphans that don't have the
money to go to school. So we've been doing since
twenty twenty one. We're actually associated with Global Giving, so
donations that are made to this organization can be made

(07:09):
through Global Giving, which is a US tax deductible organization.
The name of the organization is SESSO. It's s E
SSO that sounds stands for Support and Educate South Sudanese Orphans.
But if people go to GlobalGiving dot org and look
up SESSO S the SSO, they.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
Will find that there. That is amazing. What's your husband's name, yeah, Jason?

Speaker 1 (07:35):
Well, thank you to you and Jason really just changing lives.
I mean who would have thought, right, that's.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
Amazing, no problem.

Speaker 5 (07:41):
Thanks for giving us the opportunity Apps. I heard it
and was really excited to share
