going to have to use Priority Mail. December twenty first,
you'll have to use Priority Express and that's going to
cost you. So it is to take advantage today and
tomorrow get everything wrapped and mailed. Remember there's going to
be some lines at the post office as everyone is
scurrying to get the gifts to your friends and family

by our friends at Goodwill Houston. Well, HPD, you gonna
have its annual food drive on Saturday. They partner with
Kroger and they bring holiday meals for pre selected Houston
families who need a little extra help during the holidays.
HPD identifies these families throughout the year. It's amazing the

families get registered and then they get these wonderful meals
from Kroger. All the joy happen eight until twelve on
Saturday at HPD's headquarters on Travis Street.

This is amazing. This past Friday, it was the thirty
seventh annual gift wrapping party for the Navidad in Elbardo.
Hundreds of volunteers over at Energy Center, packing, taping, wrapping
every gift with love. This will started with Izzy Gomez.
He was a young Houston police officer when he launched
the program way back in nineteen eighty seven. He says
it was a way to share the joy of Christmas
with children in underserved communities. Today, the nonprofit is a

(02:40):
huge community wide effort and all these toys being wrapped
are going to two thousand pre selected kids from fifty
schools across the Eastern Area. An important reminder that for
many of these kids, this may be the only Christmas
gift they get this year. So great job all the
volunteers with Navidad in Elbardo. Thirty seven years of bringing
Christmas to kids who need it most.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
Man, that's a minaz wow. And this such a fun
destination in the summertime in New Caney, Big Rivers water
Park has transformed into a glowing holiday destination now hay
rides through millions of dazzling lights, or you can check
out the world's largest Christmas themed obstacle course. There's a

(03:19):
bounce house that's over a quarter acre, totally fun. Big
Rivers Water Park and Adventures at twenty three one oh one,
Texas two forty two in New Cane might be a

(03:43):
Houston Sunday ninety nine point one, Houston's holiday music station.
I'm Dana with producer Anthony ran into a little conflict
last night. You know, the reason of the season is Jesus.
We're supposed to be forgiving and merciful and grateful and appreciative,
and I wasn't that way last night because I'd created
this Winter Wonderland when my husband was out of town,

(04:04):
and then he came back into town and he wanted
to add to the Winter Wonderland in a way that
it just didn't fit the vibe. We were doing country
with a little bit of contemporary, and I was like, yeah,
I'm just not feeling it. I was trying to be nice,
but still it wasn't nice. So we're asking you, when
you're decorating the exterior of your house where the neighbors

(04:26):
are driving by, you know, and you want to make
it fun for the whole community, did you and your
partner kind of have a little conflict and if so,
how did you work through? That's the question this morning,
and we have got is it Katie, Katie Kadie in Pasadena,
Katie decorating your house with your partner? What was it
like for you?

Speaker 2 (04:45):
Well, here's the thing. I have a very particular way
of doing things. I just love Christmas. I have a
different Christmas wetter for every day of the month.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
At c wait a minute, you have a different Christmas
sweater for every day of the month.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
Shirt every day of December. Yes, I wear Reindeer antler
clips in my hair.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
Everything that's good. He is Christmas. You get about Mariah Carey.
So anyway, Oh, I.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Just love it. So my husband is a little bit
of a great She lost the woman who writes him
around this time of year, so he's a little bit
loosing about it. And I try to bring out the
bright side and get him to participate. You know. So
I have him outside and I'm wrapping the lights and
I'm like, what do you think? What do you think?
He's like, oh, it looks great, it looks great. And
then he finally decides he wants to participate and help,

(05:34):
and I get all and he starts putting things places
they don't belong and I'm.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
Like, oh, so what do you do? Katie?

Speaker 2 (05:43):
I remembered the reason for the seven. You know, I'm
still so grateful that he's here, that he's participating, that
that he's happy, and as long as he's happy, I'm happy.
And they are looks beautiful. The kids love it, and
you know, it's fabulous. It's definitely sad. It's because I
know he's had a part of it that Katie, kat

(06:05):
I love it.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
So the moral of the story is keep the strip
of lights that are in the middle of a tree
on and let Bob enjoy his Christmas too.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
You know what, I think it's amazing he wanted to help.
And if it looks like a five year old did it, okay?

Speaker 1 (06:23):
I really love it.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
Particular, you are the.

Speaker 4 (06:26):
Reason for this season. I mean the advice that you
just gave me. Katie, I'm gonna do it, babe. Take
a picture I will. I love that, Katie, thank you
so much. Love you just you just rock my world.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
I just love y'all. Thank you so much for making
my morning so bright and the holidays
