we've got the three things you need to know to
get your feel good. Friday, January seventeenth started, well, the
marathon is on Sunday. I know lots of you are
doing maybe your last run before the marathon, either today
or tomorrow. Our own Cliff Saunders from our sister station
(00:25):
seven forty ktrh, he's going to be running the half marathon.
I think this is his fourth time doing it, and
he is going to be running on behalf of the
American Heart Association. So many incredible causes that people are
running for, and we learned in our tell Me Something
Good this morning that a couple of runners are running
for their mother Yep, who was tragically it was a
(00:47):
hit and run and they still haven't found the driver.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
And she was an elite runner.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
Always being invited towards the front.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Exactly exactly.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Now, Cliff's super excited about the weather twenty six at
the start Sunday morning at seven, and then it'll be
up in the forties during most of the run and
now then after the marathon. We look forward to an
arctic blast moving through.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
It's gonna happen.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
We might see snow one to three inches Monday night
into Tuesday, and Center Point Energy has passed the first
head in the grid testing. It's intact all it's good.
It has been busy winter rizing and mobilizing forces. If
the weather gets super bad, so fingers crossed on that.
And then tomorrow you've got the Texans in Kansas City
(01:32):
the divisional playoffs. We can watch it on ABC thirteen.
Kickoff is at three point thirty. Go Texas. So exciting,
right they win. Weather today is beautiful, it's gonna be sunny.
We'll go up to sixty eight. Right now, it's forty
three and uptown and you're up to date from Sunday
ninety nine point one. Well, tell me something good is
(01:53):
brought to us by our friends at Goodwill Houston. I
have such a good story for your feel good Friday. Rocky,
the cane shot by a police killer on Wednesday, is
the luckiest dog around. According to his veterinarian doctor Jeff Chalkley.
He has been taken care of Rockley Rocky. He works
at Westbury Animal Hospital. He treated Rocky, who was shot
(02:15):
two times through the nostril and in the neck, narrowly
missing the spine. Doctor Chalkley said God was there and
literally directed that bullet away from any vital Organs hunted
down the killer of Deputyjesus Bargas on Wednesday, found the
suspect hiding in a dumpster. Sean Christopher Davis was fatally shot.
(02:38):
Rocky is a hero, and doctor Chalkley says Rocky is
an amazing dog. He will fully recover so he can
get back to catching the bad guys. Isn't that a producer,
Anthony Dane, What a story here?
Speaker 3 (02:51):
So many people running for amazing causes at this weekend's
Chevron Houston Marathon, but this one definitely on another level.
See Cecilia Vasquez will be running this weekend all in
honor of her who was tragically hit and killed a
month ago during a morning run where she was getting
ready for this month's marathon. So on Sunday, Cecilia is
going to be wearing her mom's honorary bib as well
as her own, and her older sister Mariana says she
ordered one hundred bibs with mom's name and picture on them,
(03:14):
and this is all to raise attention to try and
help find the driver who hit and killed their mom, Lila.
The sisters believe someone else who hit their mom along
West Park and hope having a large contingent of supporters
running and cheering during the marathon will bring new attention
to their efforts to find the driver. And she knows,
if nothing else, it's a way to honor her mom.
So good luck, Cecilia Bosquez. You know your mom is
going to be so proud of you this weekend.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
And she was an elite runner.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
Illy always invited towards the front. Unbelievable. Wow, and this
is going to be amazing. These kids never cease to
amaze us. The MLKA Junior Oratory Competition Powerful Speeches by
fourth and fifth grade HISD students happens this morning at ten.

five minutes. And here's the question, what doctor King tell
us about our responsibility as citizens and leaders in America today?

in the mornings on the way to school and it
always makes her feel so good. Now, Audrey, I need
your help to make a good friend of mine feel

I usually go out with my family, all right.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Like you go out to your favorite restaurant. Yes, do
you make it like a big day? Is it all
about Audrey? Or are you a little more humble when
it comes to your birthday? Well I'm a little more
humble since usually my birthday is on a school day.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
Well, I just want you, Audrey.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
I need your help because I am sitting next to
the most humble guy I know Anthony Chase, our producer,
and it is his birthday today and he doesn't want
anyone to know. But now I just told everyone, Audrey.
Would you sing Happy birthday to our producer Anthony. Oh yes,
let's hear, because your voice is beautiful, kind of is?
