Sunday ninety nine point one Houston's Best Variety of the
eighties nineties and Today Dana in the Morning and producer
Anthony and the Three Things You Need to Know to
get your Tuesday, January twenty eighth started, well, our city
is preparing for something really big, still more than a
year away, but it's so big that you got to
start preparing for now because of security and all kinds
(00:24):
of concerns. It's the World Cup, and yesterday local leaders
gave an update on where the city stands. We're going
to be hosting twenty matches over twenty days, the first
at NRG Stadium in five hundred and three days. Mayor
John Whitmyer says our city's ready and we started the
process actually of bringing the World Cup to Houston. It's
(00:44):
been a long process, way back in twenty fifteen, so
really looking forward to that. Last Thursday, there's a violent
criminal that escaped custody at the Belleville Hospital. His picture
went all over social media. Salvador Sosato of violence the
sex offenders still on the run. Yesterday, the Gulf Coast
Violent Offenders Task Force joined in the search. Now his
(01:08):
picture on social shows a man with brown hair, red highlights,
tattooed face, missing front teeth, kind of scary looking. You
can call Waller County Sheriff if you've seen him, or
nine to one pint one if it's an emergency.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
And we're going to learn the state of our state.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
On Sunday afternoon at five, Governor Greg Abbott going to
lay out the plan for the Texas Legislature for the
year on the itinerary, school vouchers, border security. The current
session began January fourteenth, It runs till June. Tewod weather today,
some clouds comfortable. We're going to go up to sixty
two rain and seventy two for tomorrow. And right now
(01:47):
it's fifty two in Uptown and you're up to date
on sunny Sunday ninety nine point one. Well tell me
something good brought to us by our friends at Goodwill Houston.
Get ready for tax season? No, I promise this is
a good news story. See if you are affected by
Hurricane Beryl or that wild Durracho storm that happened, you
(02:08):
could be saving on your income tax returns if you
were in a county federally declared a disaster area, casualty
loss deductions on your twenty twenty four income tax returns
easier to claim.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
Now is this great news?
Speaker 1 (02:23):
You don't need to itemize losses over five hundred dollars
can be deducted. You use Form forty six eighty four
for deductions and include the FEMA Disaster Declaration Code. Now
it's going to be forty seven eighty one DASH DR
for the Durrai SHO or DR DASH forty seven ninety
eight DASH t X for Beryl Oh. If you withdrew
(02:46):
money from your four oh one K to cover disaster expenses,
it's not going to be subject to the early ten
percent with draw penalty, which is excellent news for you.
For all the details, just go to IRS dot gov
from more information.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
Producer Anthony DANEA.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
I had completely forgotten about this, but back in November,
the Astros club announced at the ballpark would be changing
its title sponsor from Minute Made to Dakeon Park. Well,
that name change took effect this month in January, but
the one thing we weren't sure about was the fate
of the famous train. The train has been part of
the ballpark since it's opening back in two thousand. If
you didn't know it previously carried logs until it's changed
(03:22):
a name change in two thousand and two to Minute
Made Park. The train was built as a tribute to
the park's history as Union Station, which was the main
terminal for Houston passengers for over seventy years, and after
every home run train, conductor Bobby Dynamite Vasquez sounds its
bells and whistles and drives it down the track. So
fans were understandably concerned recently when they didn't see the
train anymore at the fan fest, post a concern on
(03:43):
social media, but and Astros Parks did confirm the train
will return in twenty twenty five. We don't know what
the cargo will be. Won't be oranges anymore, but feel
good because our Astros train is making a comeback for
this year's season.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
So excited. That is excellent. And Dacon is an air
conditioner company, right, that's correct.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
I'm just wondering how could we tie in the air
conditioning with cargo on the train?
Speaker 2 (04:04):
Ice cubes family, That's what you know. You gotta wonder.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
But man, that would be kind of wet for the
people sitting right you know, I see it summertime anyway,
we'll see.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
Hey.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
We need cuddling, we learned that was number two.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
Yeah, but we also need, according to the survey and
our nearly impossible question, the Internet.
Speaker 3 (04:44):

Speaker 1 (04:47):
It does, It's got lots of shopping and other stuff,
food ideas. Yes, it does, it does. It makes us
a better person. But we're asking you, really, what what
do you need?
Speaker 2 (04:59):

that need?

time I go there.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
I just I have to be there.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
Yes, what is it about nature that makes you feel
so good? Because I know you spend a lot of
time indoors since you're with tumbull isd Like, what is it?
Is it just a kind of a relief from the
students and the teachers or what it is?
Speaker 4 (05:54):
Everything? It's inside and inside. It's just like an instant
mooth fixist and insert an energy fix It's like an

right place. I can't explain it.
