Speaker 1 (00:02):
Sunday ninety nine point one, Dana in the Morning and
producer Anthony and on this feel good Friday, we've got
the three things you need to know to get your
day started. It's the last day of January and I
do want to say and it's all over the news today.
iHeart had its fire Aid benefit concert yesterday. Lady Gaga
wrote a brand new song for it, just to raise

(00:25):
funds for the poor souls dealing with lost homes from
devastating wildfires. Billy Crystal Anthony was an incredibly powerful host,
came out wearing the same clothes he wore the day
he had to flee and his home burned down. He said,
hasn't cried that hard since he was fifteen when he
got word that his dad had died. But he says,

(00:45):
we will laugh again. And they are still taking donations.
You can go to iHeartRadio dot com or you can
go to La La Fire excuse me, fire aid la
dot org. That's Fireaid La dot org. Well, the NTSB
is starting the investigation of the American Airlines tragic they

(01:10):
collision with the Blackhawk helicopter that happened over Washington, d C.
They've got three things they're going to focus on. Was
the pilot of the Blackhawk able to see American Airlines
Flight fifty three forty two, What was flight fifty three
forty two on the correct approach and correct altitude when
the collision happened, and did air traffic Control give clearance

(01:33):
for both? At the same time, we're also getting reports
that there was an unusual shortage of employees working at
the air traffic control the time of that crash. That
will undoubtedly also be part of the investigation. Sixty seven
people lost their lives in that collision. Weather today, beautiful,
sunny and seventy That's what our temperature is today, Tomorrow

(01:57):
and Sunday we'll go up to seventy two. But real
right now, it's cool. It's fifty five in uptown and
you're up to date. I'm sunny. Tell me something good.
Brought to us by our friends at Goodwill Houston. We
were talking about this iHeartRadio Fire Aid benefit concert from California.
It was all over iHeart stations and here as well

(02:20):
yesterday at the Kia Forum and the Intuit Dome, both locations,
and it was a mixture of a story of heartache
and incredible music. By passionate artists that we play right
here on Sunny to help raise money for the devastation
that occurred in California. Now Anthony Billy Crystal hosted the

(02:42):
event and he wore the same clothes he wore on
the day that he had to flee from his home
from the fires that destroyed his home. His message was
so powerful. He said that he was asking questions like
people are saying, where is my school, where is my church?
Where is my home? And he says he hasn't cried

(03:06):
that much since he was fifteen when he was told
that his dad had died. Wow, his daughter found a
rock in the midst of all the mess that had
the word laughter inscribed in it, and that's what he said.
He said, we will all laugh again. Let's show the
world that we can do this. And then the music began.

(03:26):
It was so powerful and if you would still like
to donate, of course you can. You can check out
iHeartRadio dot com for all the details. Just an amazing
benefit concert. Producer Anthony Dang. We've got some of our
own to cheer on. We've got two Texans who are
going to be competing in the new season of Survivor.
We recently got a look at the eighteen castaways we're

(03:47):
going to be competing on the show's forty eighth edition.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
One of them is Thomas Kradinger. He's from the Woodlands,
the thirty four year old music is exec now living
in la But he won't be the only Texan on
the island. We've also got Mitch Guerrera, a physical education
teacher from Waco. Thomas says his Music Viz experience has
prepared him for Survivor, and Mitch's had to deal with
a speech impediment and this experience is his chance, he says,

(04:10):
to prove that nothing is holding him back. So we
can get ready to cheer on our fellow Texans ready
to compete in the latest season of Survivor. It returns
with a two hour premiere February twenty six on Channel eleven.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
That is incredible, so exciting, are very exciting, and this
is pretty exciting. I mean, Anthony, our Houston chefs just
continue to shine. And this one. Felipe Riscio now a
Michelin Star recipient on Elkins High School graduato. Yep. He
was born in Venezuela, moved to Houston, when he was thirteen,

(04:42):
went to Elkins. Then he went to a Houston Community
College and there at HCC he learned technical cooking skills,
food costs, labor costs, menu creation. He met his mentor there,
Chef Christy Sikes, who is beyond excited for his amazing success.
Now he not only works at these amazing four restaurants

(05:04):
of his, but he has some former and current HCC
students working with him there. So he is passing it on.
It's this Mantrose Complex. March, the restaurant March is his
crown jewel. You can get a six or nine course meal.
It's one hundred and eighty five to two hundred and
forty five dollars per diner. And I'm thinking Valentine's Day.

(05:27):
I was gonna say, that's the experience. Your love might
be worth the cost of that experience. Right. So you
can check out our tell Me Something Good stories. We
always have it up for you at Sunday ninety nine
dot com. You can also follow us on Facebook, x, Instagram,
and TikTok at Sunday ninety nine. Sunday ninety nine point one,
it is a feel good Friday. I'm Dana with producer Anthony,

(05:49):
and we've got Houston's best variety of the eighties, nineties,
and today, and we're talking about what makes you feel
good driving to work? Apparently with your partner makes eighty
percent of commuters feel wow. And so that's what we're
asking you, driving to work with your partner? What's it like?
Do you do it? How do you drive to work?
What's your morning routine? And we have got Robert calling

(06:10):
in from Pasadena, a train conductor. Coolest job ever, Robert,
So let me ask you. Did you ever have your
wife drive the train with you? No? Like, would you?
Would you ever let her do it? Like she goes hun,
Come on, let me drive the train today? Yeah? That

(06:31):
oh my god? But then maybe she'd be a better
backseat driver. I mean, what do you think? Yeah? How
would you? How would you describe? Because the our topic
earlier this morning was driving to work together. A lot
of people would love to drive with their partner to work.
How how do you feel? Would you like to drive
with your wife to the train every day?

Speaker 2 (06:53):
No?

Speaker 1 (06:53):
Sometimes that's your time. That's your time. That's what I'm saying. Robert,
is so nice, precious, And if you did drive with
your wife, who would be the driver who's like the
better driver between you and your wife if you ask her,
But she's never driving to say about my driving? So funny.

(07:15):
What's your wife's name, Carmen? And how long have you
and Carmen been married? Wow? What's your favorite thing about Carmen?
She's he has a big heart. I don't know how
to a friend or you know, your relative definitely reaches
out excellent And what do you think she'd say is
her favorite thing about you? Robert? I guess my kids,

(07:36):
the kids that you and I have to ask you?
Is there anything that feels good today? It's our feel
good Friday? Anything fun or nice that happened to you
this week? I guess my son really attached to me now.
It's kind of like every every morning, he's always all right,

(07:57):
run up to the door before what's his name for Robert?
And how old is he?

Speaker 2 (08:02):
Love?

Speaker 1 (08:04):
It's the best when the kids start hanging out with
their dad, right they need mom for a time and
then they hang out with dad. Robert, You're a sweetheart.
Thank you again for listening. Thank you
