Jeff Toky is joining us. Jeff, we've got D Day and we're celebrating
on June sixth of this year.Good morning. Do you tell us some
of the things going on with ona flight blue ground? Well, yeah,
thanks so much for having me on. Yes, the Kentucky Veterans Program
Trust Fund is sponsoring an authentic Btwenty five worldar TiO bomber to fly into
(00:25):
Louisville on the eightieth anniversary of DDay. It's hard to believe it's been
eighty years since that event took place, and they're gonna be As of today,
we have seventeen World War Two veteransages ninety seven to one hundred and
one who are going to take flightson this plane. It's going to be
a historic day. All branches ofthe service are going to be represented that
(00:48):
day. It should be an excitingdate and we're going to encourage the public
to come out. They'll be flyingat eleven thirty, one thirty, and
three thirty with only World War Twoveterans on this plane and the vets.
They're really excited about going up inthis plane. So it's either one hundred
and one year olds. God,it's amazing. And this is I mean,
yeah, and this is it isas original as you can find,
(01:12):
right with this B twenty five.Oh yeah, yeah, that's an original.
It flew over one hundred missions inItaly in that part of the war,
and it took I think twelve yearsto restore it. It's coming out
of Minnesota, and so they're goingto find these War two veterans in honor
of the eightieth anniversary of D Day. And also there are a couple extra
(01:34):
seats. If there's a War twoveteran out there that would like to fly
for free in this plane, theycan contact me. I don't mind giving
them out my phone number either. It's of course five oh two six four
five five four two one. Ifthere's a War two veterans, I like
to fly for free, but itshould be an outstanding day in honor of
the veterans who who actually landed onthe D Day. Well, that is
(02:00):
just totally awesome. I'm kind ofsurprised you found seventeen World War II veterans
to be able to participate coming upin about three days, well, I
know, probably about thirty. Andso you've got to find the ones that
are able to fly what's sad. There's less than one hundred thousand left in
the United States. There maybe twelvehundred or so in Kentucky. So you
(02:23):
know, if you sign up inforty five, you're now ninety seven years
old. So they're going to begone before long. That's why it's so
important that we honor these members ofthe greatest generation who saved the world for
all of us. We could allbe free today, all right. So
this is going to be coming upagain this coming Thursday. Yeah, this
(02:46):
Thursday at Bowman Field at the Administrationbuilding, the old terminal on Taylorsville Road.
Easy to find and just come overand greet the vets. We'd love
to have a group of people outthere to thank them for their service and
again and they can drop in anytimebetween oh, I'd say eleven and four
and greet the vets and kill Royis going to be giving rides in World
(03:07):
two vehicles to the veterans teeps inbetween the flight rides. Do you have
any opportunity for the general public justto look at the plane? You know,
that's a great question. I'm notsure what they'll do. You know,
you can go behind and actually, you know, watch the plane leave
(03:28):
and take off. I don't knowif they'll open the gate for the public,
but I would certainly come out. It's an awesome plane to be to
be there. So we'll see whatkind of crowd come in that day.
But hopefully they could go out andsee the plane. That's what my hope
is. Well, see what happens. Hey, Jeff, we always appreciate
you. Thanks so much for whatyou do for our veterans throughout the Commonwealth
