Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, a little bit of a change of tone here. Oh,
I have to tell you guys something, and you ladies,
be cool, be cool, chill out.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Well, it depends what you have to say.
Speaker 3 (00:10):
Yeah, just chill out.
Speaker 4 (00:11):
I think'll be the way.
Speaker 3 (00:12):
Just chill out.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
You guys are very hyper sensitive when it comes to children,
because you each have only childs, and you're really, like,
wildly hyper sensitive.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
But we both are.
Speaker 4 (00:25):
Also wildly different in Sky's life with her kid and
me and mine as far as what we're cool with
for certain things.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
True, but then you guys are also on the same
page when it comes to other things.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
So what did I do?
Speaker 2 (00:41):
What's going on?
Speaker 3 (00:42):
Why did I have to do anything?
Speaker 5 (00:43):
Well, I feel like you're you're prefacing this because you
know we're not going to be happy with whatever.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
His story here.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
I didn't think I would ever say that, But I
do wish he was here because I think he would.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
Have my back on this. What.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
So I got word of this about a week or
so ago, that this is possibly happening. And so my daughter,
who's sixteen, she's on the high school golf team. The
season has wrapped up, and so once the season is over,
they did this last year, they have like an end
(01:16):
of the year party. They call it their banquet, their banquet,
and that's where they of course hand out their awards
and everybody gets together and families come and you know,
you celebrate the kids great. And so I found out
that that was happening last night on a Wednesday. Well
on Wednesdays, I play softball. Every Wednesday, play softball. And
(01:39):
so I was like, oh, that's tough. You know, that's
a little tricky. Yeah, I play softball Wednesday.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
Well, no, I'm hearing.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
What part of that do you understand? I have a
standing commitment. I have a standing commitment.
Speaker 4 (01:53):
Ricky wouldn't be the word I'd use. It would just be, oh,
there's a conflict there.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Oh yeah, that's a bummer.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
Listen.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
I am one of the stars of the team. What
I'm one of the stars of the team. I think everybody,
everybody or you say that. I'm pretty impressive.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
Okay, impressive to be honest.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
League, Yeah, like, are they.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
Just a bunch of underhanded softball?
Speaker 1 (02:16):
So team needs me obviously, and so I'm sorry, I'm
sort of like, uh, the unofficial captain if you know,
nobody's nobody's named me that.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
Yeah, if you say unofficial, it's not a thing.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
I am inspirational, are racial and I'm out there calves.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
Do you popping?
Speaker 4 (02:35):
Do you give your team the pep talk, the fore
finger pep talk?
Speaker 5 (02:39):
No?
Speaker 1 (02:40):
They they they all have bad attitudes, so no, it
wouldn't really work on then it's so, uh, you know
I heard that.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
I'm like, oh sup, all day? Well, what time? What
times going? What times the game? What times? Banquet?
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Squeeze them both?
Speaker 3 (02:54):
Maybe?
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Okay, so you know sometimes I will play late games,
which but that's fine. I can do both. I'm fine
with that banquet starts a six stoopball game.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
Yeah, okay, that.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
True conflict.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
Yeah, te conflict.
Speaker 4 (03:11):
That's a perfect conflict.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
So uh, we had another situation kind of going on
where we've been having this rain, and I went, okay,
I think mother nature is gonna help me out here.
We'll get rained out. I can attend the banquet. Perfect,
no big deal.
Speaker 5 (03:30):
Right.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
Well, as you saw yesterday, mother took off, took a hike.
Mother took a hike, and we had no no rain.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
The nature study at times mellon no rain. Okay, and so.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
These weird things you're saying, uh.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
And right up game game on, game on came on.
Oh okay, well this is really gonna be tricky.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
Well, yeah, now, you definitely.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
So we have a text thread of the team who's
in and who's out every week. You know, I don't
play in the nine to fifty games. Obviously with my schedule,
a lot of guys can't get off work for the
early games things like that, and so a lot of
the times we'll have to be we have like a
group of also like alternates that are on the team
(04:20):
that you can call up and say, hey, man, you
want to play this week, you're in reserves, And so
we have a good handful of those guys too. So
every every week, somebody's out for some reason, somebody's in
for whatever, and so you call them up they're in. Well,
this particular week there was a lot of outs. We
had a couple of Rando injuries, We had a couple
(04:43):
of guys who just couldn't make it for whatever reason,
and we were short guys, and so we were scrambling
finding our replacements to field the team. And so we
barely were able to field enough guys to field the
team that was with me playing Oh with you yeah,
And so if I call out, we're not gonna have
(05:04):
enough guys now. So now that puts an extra layer
of pressure on what do I do? What do I
do here?
Speaker 3 (05:10):
Well?
Speaker 2 (05:11):
I think we know what you do here?
Speaker 3 (05:12):
What's that?
Speaker 5 (05:13):
Well, No, I am not fist bumping that. I mean,
it's it's your daughter. There's only she's a junior, so
there's only so many of these opportunities left or she
leaves the house. So I definitely think that's the thing
you do.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
Well, I mean it's a no brainer. Do you let
a bunch of men down that aren't your family or
do you let your family?
Speaker 1 (05:34):
And I understand what you're saying about that, choose, I mean,
do you not believe in commitments?
Speaker 4 (05:40):
Of course I do. But those other guys is not
going to be there because they probably are doing commitments
similar to you.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
No, not necessarily. I don't know that they're going to
their daughter's calf base family. Okay, hold on a minute,
Hold on a minute, now, relax. Okay, So we if
I if I don't come, we're gonna lose the game.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
Yeah, that's not fair. That's not fair to those guys.
Then those guys, this is not I agree.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
I agree, but I mean I I I at that
point was figuring I'm probably gonna play.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
I like literally like just like lost my breath.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
What's the matter.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
I mean, you can't.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
It's an important thing to go. I remember my Yes,
I remember I.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
Went to the one last year. I had a pizza joint.
I mean, yeah, like a fancy event. I'm not dressing
in a suit.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
But it's could not be involved.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
And you don't.
Speaker 4 (06:34):
I know you don't. Gold I'm okay with Robert. I mean,
I'm not going to the back to school nights all
of those things. You guys know, I don't care. It's okay,
I got it. I know you don't go to any
of those things.
Speaker 3 (06:46):
So this is something used to important when it was
a real thing.
Speaker 4 (06:49):
Hey, okay, this is important for you to go.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
Hold on minute.
Speaker 4 (06:51):
I remember my volleyball banquets when I was in high school.
I actually remember them, and I remember seeing my parents there.
Speaker 5 (06:57):
And especially if you're going to get an award that night,
because you don't know if you're going to get an
award or not, and.
Speaker 4 (07:01):
If she's not gonna be hey, but she is getting
some sort of a.
Speaker 5 (07:07):
Yes, yes, anything, you want your parents there, you take
a picture with your parents, with you holding your like award.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
I am a very present parent. I get into every
dance show that there possibly was, which, oh my god, listen,
putting that time in cha ching, okay, put that in
the bank.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
That was rough. But I was there.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
I was there, bells on, cheering, you know, hyping, hyping,
the crowd up, my daughter, whatever, whatever needed to be
happened to happen. I'm there. I support my kids. Of course,
that's one thing I can't I can't skip out on. No,
I don't understand this is I don't understand.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
Yeah, this is this is important one.
Speaker 4 (07:48):
I'd actually be more okay with you missing the dance thing.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
That definitely can't happen. That definitely can't happen. Oh, that's warm.
That's important. I know I know that that was important.
Speaker 5 (07:56):
Right.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
Yeah, she brought it up like a million.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
Yeah, and am I world you you don't miss any
of these things?
Speaker 1 (08:01):
Well, you know your world is very all consuming. Yes,
so you're not really the barometer here. Yeah, you showed
up back to back weeks when your daughter was on
the set crew not even in a play. Yeah, which
is mad. That's madness.
Speaker 5 (08:15):
Okay, one of those Yeah, No, I went to like
three of them. Yeah, I did have this talk to
store yesterday because I saw, you know, the baby for
the first time and we were talking about are they
are they not going to have half a second? And
I go, well, I've learned from experience. I may be
hyper involved because I only have one I go to
every single thing. But even with that said, because I
(08:36):
know I'm on a different page than you, Eddie, this
is a big one. This is one that I'm sorry
softball beer guys and your your belching and your farts
and whatever you're doing.
Speaker 1 (08:47):
Is that really what you think is going on at softball?
We're actually a competitive team. I don't know that's it
happening at all.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
It's in my mind.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
That's that's the most ridiculous thing you have ever heard
of my life.
Speaker 4 (08:57):
I've got that vision.
Speaker 3 (08:58):
And yeah, like most of the guys have, like they're
they're all.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Sad, disgusting. No, we actually have uniform sky No, yes
we do. Yes, we're actually a competitive softball team.
Speaker 5 (09:09):
Okay, well but even with that, still don't care your daughter.
Like I said, only a few years left of these
banquets and awards.
Speaker 1 (09:19):
I understand what you're saying. I, in my mind, I
swear to you, I did not think she would care
at all, Like, it's not that big of a deal.
I went to the one last year. I saw what
it was. It's cool. You know, I appreciate it, but
I did I honestly did not think I would tell her, Hey,
I'm gonna play softball. She'd be like, all right, you know,
I just I have no idea. I really didn't think she.
Speaker 5 (09:40):
Would ask your wife for any input on that. No, no,
she has no saying.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
So yesterday came around and I decided, all right, I
gotta tell my daughter that I'm not going to be
coming to the banquet, and how do you play softball?
Speaker 3 (09:55):
No big deal. Literally, she's gonna be like, all right.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
Cool whatever, it's like a big deal to me.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
So she's in a room, go ahead, and I say,
heyday Taylor, I'm you know, unfortunately can't I can't find
another guy to fill in for me to play softball.
Uh you know, we team would lose, So I'm gonna
play softball today. I unfortunately I can't make it to
your banquet. Immediately her eyes filled up with your.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
Eddie, Oh no, Eddie, you broke her heart.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
Didn't see this coming.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
Guy, Now, well we saw this coming.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
You know. You guys have a lot of estrogen.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
What we do, and especially at her age.
Speaker 3 (10:33):
It wasn't really and she was like really, oh my god,
I'm stunned. I'm like, no, I know.
Speaker 1 (10:42):
Oh I've made a big fauxball here, and so I go, oh, well,
hang on a second, you know, do go do really
it's important for you, for me, you really want me
to be there, and she was like yes, and I'm like, okay,
this is this is not good. This is a really
bad had bad decision on my part.
Speaker 4 (11:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
So I immediately start calling and texting every human being
that I know that I know plays softball, and we've
already gone through, like to our regular list of guys,
but I know other dudes that you can maybe play.
And so everybody's a no, can't do it, Nope, can't
make it, Nope, not happening. And I'm like, I am screwed.
And so finally I get a hold of a guy
(11:24):
who is like, yep, I'm in, and I.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
Went, oh, you safe.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
Thank god. So I go in. My daughter had been
crying in her room, and I say, hey, crisis averted.
I'm in, I'm coming, and the joy and celebration on
her face that Dad is coming was the right call.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
Guys.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
So I didn't I didn't play softball. I went to
the banquet. So there you go, Dad of the Year.
Thank you very much. Let me tell you something. Let
me tell you something. Softball team lost because I wasn't there.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
Okay, what are you guys? Not going to the world so.
Speaker 3 (12:07):
We might not go to the playoffs now, thanks guy.
We were in first place. Thanks guy.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
But your daughter will need less therapy in there, I guess.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
There you go.
