Thor noticed that Ken Griffey Jr. was taking pictures at a Yankees game the other day. This really bothered him because they spoke of him as if he really grinded to get that job. Well that led to him finding more and more celebrities whose careers are basically over taking on other gigs and using their name to get the job rather than other people who actually worked hard to get the job and he lets us hear all about it in this week's Midweek Meltdown.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
And now the show is happy to bring you.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
I'm or have some respectors. Midweek melt mid week melt down.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Uh, got a little bit of a cold all week,
and so the patience level is a little bit not
you know, no thin if you will. So it worries
me what he's gonna be attacking here in the mid
week meltown. A little nervous. This is a little off
the wall. Oh yeah, a little off the walk.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
My next year on go next. Oh, maybe that'll make
him happy. Maybe this will be gall Yeah, we'll see.
I'm nervous, ervy, nervy, guys, stop it.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
Uh, but he made me melting down about Jalen Brunson
next week.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
I don't know. Maybe you know. I wasn't a fan
of the Giants re signing Odell Beckham recently. Granted that's
all this is about. Granted it's only like the vet
minimum deal, so he may even make the team, so
we'll see. Who knows. But no, recently, I've noticed something
that really bothered me. And this You may find this stupid,
but I don't care. You get annoyed by everything everything.

(01:11):
I'm tired of athletes and celebrities who keep getting chances
when their careers are over to have more jobs and
stealing jobs for normal people. Here's what I'm talking about. What,
Here's what I'm talking about. I'm randomly watching a baseball
game the other day, okay, and they start talking about
somebody and they're the commentators. It's not like a video montage,
but the commentators are kind of talking about this former

(01:34):
athlete who's doing this, who like, grinded really hard, defied
the odds. That's time they make it seem like defie
the odds. He's got the second career going and he's
great at it, and they can't believe it. And I'm thinking, man,
who are they talking about? Because it's because I'm watching.
It's a Yankee game I'm watching. They zoom the camera

(01:54):
back and they show a guy who's sitting there with
a camera, one of those big camera like they're doing
Getty images. And I'm like, man, this guy must he
must have really loved taking pictures. Who is this It
turns out to be Ken Griffy Junior. Oh yeah, And
I say to myself, really, Griffy didn't grind to get there.

(02:16):
You know how he got there? He had six hundred
and thirty home runs. That's how he got there. And
I said to myself, this is insane. Why does Griffy
get this job? And exactly are you sitting there taking photos?
So the Star Game, he was at the All Star Game,
He's at the super Bowl and he has this prime
time job taking professional photos. And people were acting like,

(02:40):
I look at the kid, How did he gets it?
Called him the kid? How did he get that gig?
How hard did he work? He didn't work hard all.
You know what probably really happened. He probably took a
picture of a bird sent to his agent and she goes, hey,
can you want these pictures for Getty Images? Like that's
what happened. So he didn't start at a little local newspaper.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
He wasn't like he was like Peter Parker, I'm so
tired of it, man, I'm really confused.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
It's such bs. It's like, and there's another guy too
that does this, Randy Johnson, the Big Unit, the guy
who had almost five thousand strikeouts. And they think, these
commentators think it's so cute and funny to see the
big Unit out there taking pictures. Good for him. Yeah,
he takes pictures too. He's on the sideline, and it's
like these these a holes who made millions of dollars.

(03:32):
You can't just retire. You can't just retire abby. No,
it's not. It's a job. Do they get paid. They're
getting paid baby robbing. But what's crazy is you get
people that go to college to be a photographer. They
do four years at a school, they get into thousands
of dollars of debt, they get out and they're good
at it. But there's kengrivigr taking a picture, so you

(03:56):
you can't get that job. And it sucks and I'm
over it. It's not right, man, over it, I am.
I don't know, I don't even know what he's happening
at all levels, and I'm over it and it's done
and it's not right. There are some former athletes who
actually like made a career post like Roger Stallback, he
played for the Cowboys, Hall of Famer, one of the

(04:16):
NFL greats. He got into commercial real estate and sold
this business like four hundred million dollars. He actually grinded
and did something. Okay, A putts like Ken Griffith Junior
just decided I'm bored, I need to do something, so
I'm gonna steal jobs from kids who need them kids
and take and take pictures.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
So I mean, couldn't it be the same thing with
you brought up Roger Staubuck. He's using his name to
become a successful businessman after his.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Career technically, but you have to be good at it
to be a to do what he did. So do
you think Ken Griffy is a terrible photographer?

Speaker 2 (04:51):
I think he's I think he's probably fine. Fine, but
you're stealing job. Okay, stealing job, stealing jobs. It's not
right and it does just it's in our world too, baby,
it's an our world too. When was the last time
we had Fernando Tatis Junior on this show? Well, never
won't come on the show. No reason why we're sending
egos Number one show, guess, but guess who has to

(05:13):
on Mookie Bets with his god awful podcast. I although,
if you've heard this before, but this moron sits down
mid season with other players and has a terrible podcast,
you're gonna give upset. I know it's my favorite. I
know it's only fairite player, but everybody to watch, but

(05:36):
every former athlete, every former athlete or current athlete now
has a podcast because they think, well, people want to
hear what I have to say and then what we do.
But but but like the count Brothers art example, because
they're decent at it, Mookie Bets is terrible. So then
what happens is their buddies come on like Tatis or
I don't know, Manny Machado goes on there, and they

(05:57):
stop doing actual shows who know what they are doing
and are entertaining and funny. So it screws us. It
screws us because some idiot wants to have a podcast.
Just stay in your lane, bro, Why do they need
to steal more jobs? Why is the gap getting wider
and wider now with the rich and the poor? It's crazy.
Podcasts started by like normal people to do fun things,

(06:18):
but then the all the out of work actors, all
the loser athletes who wanted more of a say in
things took it from us, and then we watched them
because they have better connections. It sucks, and it doesn't
matter how entertaining you are, and the gap is just
getting wider and wider and wider. Not good, it's not good.
Fired up, I didn't even realize, Well.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
I don't, I don't know. I I thought the Ken
Griffith thing was just a hobby. He likes taking pictures.
I didn't think he was stealing jobs from anybody.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
I know they are. I mean, I get paid. I
think so. You don't even know. I think so so
you don't even know. I think he's actually I think
he's getting paid.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
Wait, hold on a minute, dude, you've done this whole
thing and you don't even know if he's actually stealing
a job.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
You don't even know what he wouldn't get. He wouldn't.
It's if it's a hobby and they let him get
him press pass, that'd be weird. But he doesn't. Why
would they let him be on the sideline with the
press pass? What he likes. He likes to take pictures.
That's his thing. It's like a hobby. I think it's
a hobby. I don't think he's actually getting paid. Yes,

(07:24):
Ken A Junior gets paid for the photography work, thank god.
Thought doesn't say how much he gets fair it doesn't.
But he did it for the Masters and against I
don't know he's hour, but it's ridiculous picture. I don't
think he called I feel like doing this and on
the sideline.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
Yeah, I know, it's weird to me that you don't
get obviously, these guys are using their newer thing, though
their likeness, their names to get the new thing.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
It's like every out of work Amy Poehler, I like
Amy Pohler. She can't she's not really acting anymore. So
she started a podcast. She's not doing the search. She's
not she's not coming up with these questions. But she
won Podcast of the Year at the Golden Globe. Is
because she had Michelle Obama on its her first guest.
I mean, it's ridiculous and the good podcast people that
actually do the work get screwed and just more of

(08:14):
a gap between the rich and the poor. It's more
of a gap.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
Those are.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
It is frustrating when these guys are already the billionaires.
Like maybe I'm I'm hoping Ken Griffy takes his Getty
salary and donates it to something. I doubt it, but like,
but you're right, because it is taking a job from
somebody who probably hustles.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
In the in the sports media world. What's gonna start
happening is is that you only get the guys like
Mookie Betts to have their buddies on but they're never
gonna ask them hard hitting questions. They're gonna ask, hey,
why can't you hit right now? They're never gonna say that,
So then we never get real answers. We never get
real answers, we never get real questions. It's just buddy
buddy still. And that's what Draymond Green is basically doing

(08:59):
now in the n b A. He's saying the sports
media world sucks and all the athletes shouldn't go on
their stuff anymore, and they should only go on other
athletes stuff, which isn't good either, because then it's all fluff.
Like Roger said, So I'm over I think the congressions
to get involved bigger. You're making no sense. Photographers, it's

(09:24):
just over it, okay, all because I saw a Can
Grafford Jr. Doing photography backwards hat. He did have a hab,
kind of a profess, great profession. He's the kid reading alone.
It just was so crazy. They were acting like, how
did he get that job? Well, that's how did he
do it? That's I think we know how obviously
